They close out games. They're an extremely clutch team. San
Antonio has been terrific bouncing back from not just losses,
but when they rarely lose too in a row, bouncing

back from the two losses in a row this season.

So they've come too far.

They've beat the highest power rated team in the NBA,
and OK see, they've gone too far to give up.
But I just don't see this NIXT team being able

I don't think it's over that the Spurs are going
to roll over and quit on this series, but I
think it's a stretch to say they can get four
out of five games against this NIXT team.

I was watching a press conference with Wemby and he said, oh,
two is right where he wants to be? Is that
where he wants to be?
Speaker 6 (28:02):
No, he wants to be in the NBA finals at
age twenty two. That's great progression that a lot of
young stars don't get to. So is he where he
wants to be in the big picture and the grand
scheme of things? Sure do you want to be down
oh two? Losing both home games. The Knicks are the
first team to take games one and two of the

NBA Finals as a road underdog in over thirty years.
The last team to do that was the nineteen ninety
five Houston Rockets, who you had that whole Nick Anderson
free throw debacle at the end of the game, and
the Rockets wound up not good for the Spurs here.
The Rockets wound up sweeping that series and taking games
three and four in Houston. So this is a you know,
(28:44):
this is the first time we've seen this kind of
road dominance by the underdog to open up an NBA
Finals in decades. So I would not say the Spurs
are right where they want to be, But again I'm
gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and say
that their effort is going to be there, particularly out
of the gates.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
Last I saw, the Knicks were the favorite tonight, which
makes sense since they're at Madison Square Garden. But also
there's something to the Spurs kind of playing for their life, right.
Speaker 6 (29:11):
For sure, there's always something to the more desperate team
in the NBA when you get deep into the playoffs
and these games matter. You asked me if if it's over,
and I give the Spurs a little bit of credit,
if they lose this one, it's over. You're not gonna
be the first team to you know, no team ever
in NBA history. We've seen it in all the other sports.
No team in NBA history has come out of the
(29:32):
three to zero hole. And the Spurs aren't going to
be the first team to do it against these Knicks
in the NBA Finals. So this is the do or
die game for San Antonio, Whereas the Knicks know they
have plenty left in their back pocket here. So that
type of mentality does translate onto the court at in
some form or fashion, I think. But yeah, the Knicks
(29:53):
have to be favored in this game at this point.
I think a lot of people are surprised that they're
such short favorites, you know, two and a half point
favorites minus one thirty minus one thirty five or so
on the money line. I think a lot of people
thought after stealing games one and two on the road,
they would be a bigger favorite.

Knicks are taking a lot of money, and books like
DraftKings have not budged on the number, which suggests there's
some sharper action on desperate San Antonio, which which makes sense.
But I think they got the number right on this
game for the most part.
Speaker 2 (30:22):
So if it's Nicks minus two and a half, do
you think it would have been a different number had
they went one in one?
Speaker 6 (30:28):
Yeah, these things come into play as series go on.
So you know, the Knicks were four and a half
point underdogs in Game one. Now because they won that game,
the Spurs then become six and a half point favorites
in Game two, which makes no sense, right, But that's
kind of like the ultimate desperation tax because I mentioned
(30:48):
the ninety five Rockets that became that took those two
road games in Orlando as an underdog and they went
on to sweep well. Four times since then a team
has stolen Game one of the NBA Finals the road underdog.
It was the two thousand and four Pistons who did
go on and upset those Shaq and Kobe Lakers. Twenty
thirteen Spurs did it to the Heat, and then recently
(31:09):
twenty twenty two Celtics did it to the Warriors, and
last year Tyres Haliburton beat the Buzzer in game one.
Beat Okay, see all those teams lost Game two, the
home favorite one Game two, and that was priced in
to that number. So now if you're coming back one
to one, Spurs are fresh off a win, people are
feeling better about the Spurs. This game is probably more
(31:30):
like a pick them. And if the Knicks, you know,
based on how this game goes, will affect the price too.
If the Knicks win this game as two and a
half point home favorites to go up three to nothing,
there they're gonna be looking at like four and a
half point favorites to go for the sweep in a
game four.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
Do you think Jalen Brunson is one of the best Hey,
I'm gonna bet on myself stories in a while.
Speaker 6 (31:48):
Oh yeah, he said he said he would take He
would have taken a fifty five million dollar contract from
the Dallas Mavericks if that had been on the table
before he had that postseason run where he kind of
kept them afloat when Luka Dantrich was hurt, and it
obviously paid off for him big time. It paid off
for the Knicks big time, and he also left some
(32:09):
money on the table with New York to build that
team around him, So it's put him in tremendous position.
It worked at like you know, he admitted he would
have taken that contract. So sometimes things just just break
your way. You get a chance. If Luka Dontrich doesn't
get hurt in the postseason, he doesn't have that stage
to briefly show what he can do in big clutch games.
(32:32):
So everything came up Brunson in that scenario, and he
and the Knicks took advantage of it.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
I've not seen a team be as loyal to players
and celebrate players that did not win championships for them
as the Knicks are doing now. And I think it's
awesome because you're saying, even Jeremy Lynn being celebrated, he's
coming back for the games you're seeing Stodamayer. We could
go through all those Nick guys who did not win
a championship still being celebrated. If they do in a championship,
(33:01):
Oh my god, they're gonna be kings of that entire city.
Speaker 8 (33:04):
Right Yeah.
Speaker 6 (33:05):
It's you know, I don't even really have context as
to what this would look like because the Knick seven
and won a championship in my lifetime.

So we don't know what these things look like.

We just see what Walt Clyotte Fraser is like when
he wears his insane outfits at MSG and the type
of reception that he gets. But there's just like generations
of Knicks fans that haven't experienced winning at all, and
even those that were around to watch the ninety nine
finals that's twenty seven years ago. There's a lot of

people that weren't even around for that. So it's gonna
it's kinda, yeah, an unknown territory for how these guys
will be treated if they can just win two of
the next five games here and close things out for
New York.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
It's crazy to look at the ticket prices as well.
I mean, you know, the next did it in person.
They gave some tickets, so it's slyly I'm very slightly
dropped down tickets a bit, but you're talking about eight, nine,
ten thousand dollars to just get pretty bad seats. Have
you seen anything like that before.
Speaker 6 (34:09):
I've never seen anything close to this. And I'll say,
you know, you mentioned off the top in my intro.
I've spent time covering the Boston Celtics. I've also been
a Celtics season ticket holder for sixteen or so years now,
and I'm up in the balcony. I got some cheap
seats when I was very young, didn't mind it. I've
(34:30):
hung on to them forever. When the Celtics have played
in some of these NBA Finals against like Golden State,
when they were up two to one, we had the
potential close out game six. Obviously, the Warriors wound up
closing out in six, but at the time people were
thinking the Celtics could close out in six. I was
looking at, hey, what can I get for these If
I listed them, It's like sixteen hundred eighteen hundred bucks,
pretty good for some cheap seats up in the balcony.
(34:52):
I was impressed with that about four years ago. You're
talking more than five times that just to get into
the building for not even a close out game. Those
were priced to be a closeout game, and when it
didn't become that, tickets got slashed in half. So I
don't have a price comp for what these games are
(35:12):
anything within Like, you know, you're talking five times more
expensive than the cheapest nosebleeds I've ever even heard of
talking NBA tickets before.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
We have a diehard Celtics fan on our show, and
you think Jannis has any future with Boston.
Speaker 8 (35:28):
I don't. The Celtics keep things pretty pretty tight to
the vest.
Speaker 6 (35:33):
All of these rumors that we've heard over the years,
those come externally, those come from other places.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
You know.
Speaker 6 (35:43):
You got to remember when these big deals happen in
Celtic's history, they pop out of nowhere. When Brad Stevens
was hired as head coach, that story popped.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
Out in nowhere.
Speaker 8 (35:52):
He wasn't even on the radar when Brad.
Speaker 6 (35:54):
Stevens went upstairs to replace Danny Ainge and they went
to Emio Doka, which didn't work out long term. But
when they make these big adjustments, and that includes big trades,
that doesn't leak from the Celtics side, and we all
kind of get surprised. So we're hearing all this honest
to Boston stuff. I think that's because the honest wouldn't
mind coming to Boston and being a part of the
(36:17):
Celtics organization. But I think that's all external noise. I
don't think there there's really any interest on the Celtics
side in him.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
What do you think happens then with the big power
two in Boston.
Speaker 6 (36:28):
Yeah, that's the big question. Everybody's quick to give up
on them, and the question is what is the return.
That's so I've always said, you know, I would not
move Jason Tatum. I do think he's the more complete player,
which for a long time was the popular opinion. And
now after this season, Jalen Brown finishes fourth or whatever
it was in MVP voting, and it becomes, oh well,
(36:49):
maybe build around Brown and see what you can get
for Tatum. He's coming off the Achilles. We talk about
this all the time in Boston, and because they place
similar positions, the need to break them up. But you
can never have too much perimeter talent in the NBA.
That's how you win. So I think it needs to
be a tremendous offer to break them up. I don't
(37:11):
know if I like Jalen Johnson from Atlanta, I don't
know if that and other pieces isn't enough. I like,
I saw the Bill Simmons won Trey Murphy in New Orleans.
I don't know if that's enough for a Jalen Brown,
even with other pieces. So I think it needs to
be an offer that really blows you away. And I
don't know if you find a team that desperate to
both add Jalen Brown and have something of the equivalent
(37:31):
of Jalen Brown to match it with. Because Brad Stevens,
who I think was very honest in his end of
season press conference, said that they need to improve their talent.
Speaker 8 (37:41):
They want to add talent.
Speaker 6 (37:43):
So I don't think Brad Stevens is going to look
to move Jalen Brown unless he feels he's upgrading the
talent on the Celtics, which is going to be extremely
difficult to do.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Then does Jalen Brown have to accept that he's the
second option?
Speaker 6 (37:58):
Sort of, but it does have to be the second
option every night, you know, like if it's his night,
it's his night. And I think Jason Tatum is also
very open to deferring to that, and that's what they did.
Speaker 8 (38:12):
That's how they won.
Speaker 6 (38:13):
Jalen Brown won Eastern Conference Finals MVP, Jalen Brown won
NBA Finals MVP. So I think that they are Jalen
Brown or Jason Tatum. Behind closed doors. They're not best friends,
but I think they're more okay with their situation than
other people think. Obviously, Jalen Brown looked at as the
(38:35):
slightly lesser player, has a little bit of a chip
on his shoulder because of that.
Speaker 8 (38:39):
But I think that's one of the things. One of
the reasons to keep him.
Speaker 6 (38:41):
Getting together is you get deep in the playoffs, Brown
is going to continue playing with that chip on his shoulder.
Are you gonna get that chip on your shoulder from
whoever you're trading Brown for. Are you're gonna get a
player that's coming from a losing team who's very excited
to be playing second fiddle to Jason Tatum on the
Celtics and just even have a chance to win. So
that's almost you know, Brown being the second guy at
(39:03):
times can almost be a benefit because of the motivation.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
There are you guys doing football futures, yet you focus
on that.
Speaker 6 (39:11):
I've been I've been dabbling some NFL and college. I
would say I have more college in so far, but
some opinions on both.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
Do you have any opinion on the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (39:24):
It's probably not going to be their year to win
at all. I haven't bet anything Cowboys related the defense.
I like what they did defensively in the draft. That's
a pretty common opinion. But they added, you know, real
talent at key positions in the draft, but I think
it was best player available at on the side of
the ball they really needed. So I think the Eagles
(39:46):
should regress this year, and that means that Dallas will
be in the mix, which is what they can ask
for at this point.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Right, So who have you already put an NFL future on?
Speaker 6 (39:58):
So I bet to win totals over I bet the
Bengals over nine and a half and I bet the
Vikings over eight and a half. Now, Minnesota, I think
is the one that I think people understand why the
Bengals should be good. They need a healthy year out
of Joe Burrow, they need to keep that offensive line intact,
and they got better defensively. We'll see what the Ravens are.
(40:21):
They obviously missed the postseason last year. We'll see what
Steelers are with Rogers back for one hurrah, And I
think everybody's right and off the Brown. So I think
that one kind of speaks for itself a little bit.
The Bengals should finally take a step back forward with Burrow. Minnesota,
I think is the one that people are a little
afraid of. It's obviously a really good division, with the
other three teams getting a ton of hype, and people
(40:41):
are down on Kyler Murray. Kyler Murray's a quarterback upgrade
for Minnesota. And we just talked about motivation with Jalen Brown.
Kyler Murray's motivated to make himself some money off of
this contract and prove that he can play well. And
he's playing on a team where the coaching staff has
had a lot of success with quarterbacks. He's got justin Jefferson.
(41:03):
They added to the receiver room this offseason. They're getting
back some injured offensive linemen. The defense has been rock solid.
I think the Minnesota Vikings are really getting overlooked in
that division and in that conference and can be as
good as any of the Packers, the Lions, the Bears,
because that team got to nine wins last year. You
(41:24):
remember they got hot down the stretch. They got to
nine and eight. I think it was last year behind
a mismatch of all kinds of second, third, fourth string
quarterbacks that were winning them games. If you get a
healthy season out of a motivated Kyler Murray, I think
Minnesota is going to be much stronger than people think.
Speaker 2 (41:42):
We were talking about an odd or awkward Wembee press
conference earlier. And some of that could just be because
he speaks French. But when we talked about Kyler Murray
and JJ McCarthy, like, that's an odd that's odd what's
happening with those two guys? And Kyler is a pro
and he's saying what pros need to say, and it's
refreshing when people don't say what they need to say.
But it just feels like clunky coming from JJ McCarthy.

prove it deal to get to where he wants to get,

be the starting quarterback of a team of a playoff

gotten such a short look at him. You can't write

him off yet. So you know, Minnesota's gonna have a
decision to make. Maybe Kyler Murray is not as good
as I think he could be this season, and the
decision is easier to give McCarthy a second chance. Maybe
he is really good, and he's so good that he's
obviously going to leave and the decision is made for Minnesota.
But yes, I could see that scenario where Kyler Murray's
just good enough and Minnesota has to decide, Hey, do

we want to pay this guy and try and not
make the mistake we just made with Sam Darnold, or
do we let him go and try McCarthy again, Because
if that doesn't work a second time and you have
to go back and look for a third veteran quarterback
that is not going to go over well.

No, he wants to be in the NBA finals at
age twenty two. That's great progression that a lot of
young stars don't get to. So is he where he
wants to be in the big picture and the grand
scheme of things? Sure do you want to be down
oh two? Losing both home games. The Knicks are the
first team to take games one and two of the

NBA Finals as a road underdog in over thirty years.
The last team to do that was the nineteen ninety
five Houston Rockets, who you had that whole Nick Anderson
free throw debacle at the end of the game, and
the Rockets wound up not good for the Spurs here.
The Rockets wound up sweeping that series and taking games
three and four in Houston. So this is a you know,

this is the first time we've seen this kind of
road dominance by the underdog to open up an NBA
Finals in decades. So I would not say the Spurs
are right where they want to be, But again I'm
gonna give them the benefit of the doubt and say
that their effort is going to be there, particularly out
of the gates.

Last I saw, the Knicks were the favorite tonight, which
makes sense since they're at Madison Square Garden. But also
there's something to the Spurs kind of playing for their life, right.
Speaker 6 (29:11):
For sure, there's always something to the more desperate team
in the NBA when you get deep into the playoffs
and these games matter. You asked me if if it's over,
and I give the Spurs a little bit of credit,
if they lose this one, it's over. You're not gonna
be the first team to you know, no team ever
in NBA history. We've seen it in all the other sports.
No team in NBA history has come out of the

three to zero hole. And the Spurs aren't going to
be the first team to do it against these Knicks
in the NBA Finals. So this is the do or
die game for San Antonio, Whereas the Knicks know they
have plenty left in their back pocket here. So that
type of mentality does translate onto the court at in
some form or fashion, I think. But yeah, the Knicks

have to be favored in this game at this point.
I think a lot of people are surprised that they're
such short favorites, you know, two and a half point
favorites minus one thirty minus one thirty five or so
on the money line. I think a lot of people
thought after stealing games one and two on the road,
they would be a bigger favorite.

Knicks are taking a lot of money, and books like
DraftKings have not budged on the number, which suggests there's
some sharper action on desperate San Antonio, which which makes sense.
But I think they got the number right on this
game for the most part.

So if it's Nicks minus two and a half, do
you think it would have been a different number had
they went one in one?
Speaker 6 (30:28):
Yeah, these things come into play as series go on.
So you know, the Knicks were four and a half
point underdogs in Game one. Now because they won that game,
the Spurs then become six and a half point favorites
in Game two, which makes no sense, right, But that's
kind of like the ultimate desperation tax because I mentioned

the ninety five Rockets that became that took those two
road games in Orlando as an underdog and they went
on to sweep well. Four times since then a team
has stolen Game one of the NBA Finals the road underdog.
It was the two thousand and four Pistons who did
go on and upset those Shaq and Kobe Lakers. Twenty
thirteen Spurs did it to the Heat, and then recently
(31:09):
twenty twenty two Celtics did it to the Warriors, and
last year Tyres Haliburton beat the Buzzer in game one.
Beat Okay, see all those teams lost Game two, the
home favorite one Game two, and that was priced in
to that number. So now if you're coming back one
to one, Spurs are fresh off a win, people are
feeling better about the Spurs. This game is probably more

like a pick them. And if the Knicks, you know,
based on how this game goes, will affect the price too.
If the Knicks win this game as two and a
half point home favorites to go up three to nothing,
there they're gonna be looking at like four and a
half point favorites to go for the sweep in a
game four.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
Do you think Jalen Brunson is one of the best Hey,
I'm gonna bet on myself stories in a while.
Speaker 6 (31:48):
Oh yeah, he said he said he would take He
would have taken a fifty five million dollar contract from
the Dallas Mavericks if that had been on the table
before he had that postseason run where he kind of
kept them afloat when Luka Dantrich was hurt, and it
obviously paid off for him big time. It paid off
for the Knicks big time, and he also left some
(32:09):
money on the table with New York to build that
team around him, So it's put him in tremendous position.
It worked at like you know, he admitted he would
have taken that contract. So sometimes things just just break
your way. You get a chance. If Luka Dontrich doesn't
get hurt in the postseason, he doesn't have that stage
to briefly show what he can do in big clutch games.
(32:32):
So everything came up Brunson in that scenario, and he
and the Knicks took advantage of it.
Speaker 2 (32:40):
I've not seen a team be as loyal to players
and celebrate players that did not win championships for them
as the Knicks are doing now. And I think it's
awesome because you're saying, even Jeremy Lynn being celebrated, he's
coming back for the games you're seeing Stodamayer. We could
go through all those Nick guys who did not win
a championship still being celebrated. If they do in a championship,

Oh my god, they're gonna be kings of that entire city.
Speaker 8 (33:04):
Right Yeah.
Speaker 6 (33:05):
It's you know, I don't even really have context as
to what this would look like because the Knick seven
and won a championship in my lifetime.

So we don't know what these things look like.
Speaker 6 (33:17):
We just see what Walt Clyotte Fraser is like when
he wears his insane outfits at MSG and the type
of reception that he gets. But there's just like generations
of Knicks fans that haven't experienced winning at all, and
even those that were around to watch the ninety nine
finals that's twenty seven years ago. There's a lot of
(33:37):
people that weren't even around for that. So it's gonna
it's kinda, yeah, an unknown territory for how these guys
will be treated if they can just win two of
the next five games here and close things out for
New York.
Speaker 2 (33:51):
It's crazy to look at the ticket prices as well.
I mean, you know, the next did it in person.
They gave some tickets, so it's slyly I'm very slightly
dropped down tickets a bit, but you're talking about eight, nine,
ten thousand dollars to just get pretty bad seats. Have
you seen anything like that before.
Speaker 6 (34:09):
I've never seen anything close to this. And I'll say,
you know, you mentioned off the top in my intro.
I've spent time covering the Boston Celtics. I've also been
a Celtics season ticket holder for sixteen or so years now,
and I'm up in the balcony. I got some cheap
seats when I was very young, didn't mind it. I've
(34:30):
hung on to them forever. When the Celtics have played
in some of these NBA Finals against like Golden State,
when they were up two to one, we had the
potential close out game six. Obviously, the Warriors wound up
closing out in six, but at the time people were
thinking the Celtics could close out in six. I was
looking at, hey, what can I get for these If
I listed them, It's like sixteen hundred eighteen hundred bucks,
pretty good for some cheap seats up in the balcony.
(34:52):
I was impressed with that about four years ago. You're
talking more than five times that just to get into
the building for not even a close out game. Those
were priced to be a closeout game, and when it
didn't become that, tickets got slashed in half. So I
don't have a price comp for what these games are
(35:12):
anything within Like, you know, you're talking five times more
expensive than the cheapest nosebleeds I've ever even heard of
talking NBA tickets before.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
We have a diehard Celtics fan on our show, and
you think Jannis has any future with Boston.
Speaker 8 (35:28):
I don't. The Celtics keep things pretty pretty tight to
the vest.
Speaker 6 (35:33):
All of these rumors that we've heard over the years,
those come externally, those come from other places.
Speaker 1 (35:43):
You know.
Speaker 6 (35:43):
You got to remember when these big deals happen in
Celtic's history, they pop out of nowhere. When Brad Stevens
was hired as head coach, that story popped.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
Out in nowhere.
Speaker 8 (35:52):
He wasn't even on the radar when Brad.
Speaker 6 (35:54):
Stevens went upstairs to replace Danny Ainge and they went
to Emio Doka, which didn't work out long term. But
when they make these big adjustments, and that includes big trades,
that doesn't leak from the Celtics side, and we all
kind of get surprised. So we're hearing all this honest
to Boston stuff. I think that's because the honest wouldn't
mind coming to Boston and being a part of the
(36:17):
Celtics organization. But I think that's all external noise. I
don't think there there's really any interest on the Celtics
side in him.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
What do you think happens then with the big power
two in Boston.
Speaker 6 (36:28):
Yeah, that's the big question. Everybody's quick to give up
on them, and the question is what is the return.
That's so I've always said, you know, I would not
move Jason Tatum. I do think he's the more complete player,
which for a long time was the popular opinion. And
now after this season, Jalen Brown finishes fourth or whatever
it was in MVP voting, and it becomes, oh well,
(36:49):
maybe build around Brown and see what you can get
for Tatum. He's coming off the Achilles. We talk about
this all the time in Boston, and because they place
similar positions, the need to break them up. But you
can never have too much perimeter talent in the NBA.
That's how you win. So I think it needs to
be a tremendous offer to break them up. I don't
(37:11):
know if I like Jalen Johnson from Atlanta, I don't
know if that and other pieces isn't enough. I like,
I saw the Bill Simmons won Trey Murphy in New Orleans.
I don't know if that's enough for a Jalen Brown,
even with other pieces. So I think it needs to
be an offer that really blows you away. And I
don't know if you find a team that desperate to
both add Jalen Brown and have something of the equivalent
(37:31):
of Jalen Brown to match it with. Because Brad Stevens,
who I think was very honest in his end of
season press conference, said that they need to improve their talent.
Speaker 8 (37:41):
They want to add talent.
Speaker 6 (37:43):
So I don't think Brad Stevens is going to look
to move Jalen Brown unless he feels he's upgrading the
talent on the Celtics, which is going to be extremely
difficult to do.
Speaker 2 (37:52):
Then does Jalen Brown have to accept that he's the
second option?
Speaker 6 (37:58):
Sort of, but it does have to be the second
option every night, you know, like if it's his night,
it's his night. And I think Jason Tatum is also
very open to deferring to that, and that's what they did.
Speaker 8 (38:12):
That's how they won.
Speaker 6 (38:13):
Jalen Brown won Eastern Conference Finals MVP, Jalen Brown won
NBA Finals MVP. So I think that they are Jalen
Brown or Jason Tatum. Behind closed doors. They're not best friends,
but I think they're more okay with their situation than
other people think. Obviously, Jalen Brown looked at as the
(38:35):
slightly lesser player, has a little bit of a chip
on his shoulder because of that.
Speaker 8 (38:39):
But I think that's one of the things. One of
the reasons to keep him.
Speaker 6 (38:41):
Getting together is you get deep in the playoffs, Brown
is going to continue playing with that chip on his shoulder.
Are you gonna get that chip on your shoulder from
whoever you're trading Brown for. Are you're gonna get a
player that's coming from a losing team who's very excited
to be playing second fiddle to Jason Tatum on the
Celtics and just even have a chance to win. So
that's almost you know, Brown being the second guy at
(39:03):
times can almost be a benefit because of the motivation.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
There are you guys doing football futures, yet you focus
on that.
Speaker 6 (39:11):
I've been I've been dabbling some NFL and college. I
would say I have more college in so far, but
some opinions on both.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
Do you have any opinion on the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 6 (39:24):
It's probably not going to be their year to win
at all. I haven't bet anything Cowboys related the defense.
I like what they did defensively in the draft. That's
a pretty common opinion. But they added, you know, real
talent at key positions in the draft, but I think
it was best player available at on the side of
the ball they really needed. So I think the Eagles
(39:46):
should regress this year, and that means that Dallas will
be in the mix, which is what they can ask
for at this point.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
Right, So who have you already put an NFL future on?
Speaker 6 (39:58):
So I bet to win totals over I bet the
Bengals over nine and a half and I bet the
Vikings over eight and a half. Now, Minnesota, I think
is the one that I think people understand why the
Bengals should be good. They need a healthy year out
of Joe Burrow, they need to keep that offensive line intact,
and they got better defensively. We'll see what the Ravens are.
(40:21):
They obviously missed the postseason last year. We'll see what
Steelers are with Rogers back for one hurrah, And I
think everybody's right and off the Brown. So I think
that one kind of speaks for itself a little bit.
The Bengals should finally take a step back forward with Burrow. Minnesota,
I think is the one that people are a little
afraid of. It's obviously a really good division, with the
other three teams getting a ton of hype, and people
(40:41):
are down on Kyler Murray. Kyler Murray's a quarterback upgrade
for Minnesota. And we just talked about motivation with Jalen Brown.
Kyler Murray's motivated to make himself some money off of
this contract and prove that he can play well. And
he's playing on a team where the coaching staff has
had a lot of success with quarterbacks. He's got justin Jefferson.
(41:03):
They added to the receiver room this offseason. They're getting
back some injured offensive linemen. The defense has been rock solid.
I think the Minnesota Vikings are really getting overlooked in
that division and in that conference and can be as
good as any of the Packers, the Lions, the Bears,
because that team got to nine wins last year. You
(41:24):
remember they got hot down the stretch. They got to
nine and eight. I think it was last year behind
a mismatch of all kinds of second, third, fourth string
quarterbacks that were winning them games. If you get a
healthy season out of a motivated Kyler Murray, I think
Minnesota is going to be much stronger than people think.
Speaker 2 (41:42):
We were talking about an odd or awkward Wembee press
conference earlier. And some of that could just be because
he speaks French. But when we talked about Kyler Murray
and JJ McCarthy, like, that's an odd that's odd what's
happening with those two guys? And Kyler is a pro
and he's saying what pros need to say, and it's
refreshing when people don't say what they need to say.
But it just feels like clunky coming from JJ McCarthy.
(42:02):
Would you agree with that?
Speaker 8 (42:03):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (42:04):
So this isn't you know, a Jason Tatum Jalen Brown
situation where oh, is there something there? But those two
guys can be on the floor and playing their best
and working together and winning. J J McCarthy and Kyler
Murray cannot be on the field together and doing their
best to win. It's one or the other. And McCarthy
has been a letdown obviously. Kyler Murray has had success
(42:26):
and now needs to kind of recapture that on a
prove it deal to get to where he wants to get,
whether that future becomes with the Minnesota Vikings or finding
another landing spot to kind of get his career back
as a former number one overall pick that can can
be the starting quarterback of a team of a playoff
caliber team.
Speaker 8 (42:46):
So that's the difference.
Speaker 6 (42:48):
It's clunky, yeah, because those two guys' success kind of
directly work against each other, which is always that strange
QB pushing and pull.
Speaker 2 (42:59):
Would your crystal ball imagine a scenario where he comes in,
plays a year, gets a good deal, leaves, and McCarthy
could be the guy again next year.
Speaker 8 (43:09):
I think that has to be in the realm of possibilities.
Speaker 1 (43:12):
Right.
Speaker 6 (43:14):
We just saw We just saw Minnesota do it with
Sam Donald and he took off and won a Super Bowl, Right,
So I don't think anybody saw that coming the year
coming in, although it was more perceived that Donald was
the placeholder. And we have to find out what JJ
McCarthy is. I think JJ McCarthy's gotten such a we've
gotten such a short look at him. You can't write
(43:34):
him off yet. So you know, Minnesota's gonna have a
decision to make. Maybe Kyler Murray is not as good
as I think he could be this season, and the
decision is easier to give McCarthy a second chance. Maybe
he is really good, and he's so good that he's
obviously going to leave and the decision is made for Minnesota.
But yes, I could see that scenario where Kyler Murray's
just good enough and Minnesota has to decide, Hey, do
(43:56):
we want to pay this guy and try and not
make the mistake we just made with Sam Darnold, or
do we let him go and try McCarthy again, Because
if that doesn't work a second time and you have
to go back and look for a third veteran quarterback
that is not going to go over well.
