Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome in to the Clay Travis show. I am your
fearless leader, Clay Travis. I am unhappy to be doing
this show at this point in time because I have
to my left, if you see me looking, a big
Atlanta Braves game that is going on right now. I
will reiterate how absurd I think it is that Major
League Baseball has made the Phillies and the Braves play
(00:23):
at 2 p.m. Eastern in theory for three straight days.
I hope that the Braves are able to win this
game as they won last night. We are currently tied
at one in the bottom of the third. And I
will start off this game as you see me in
my Atlanta Braves shirt by saying that the Atlanta Braves
stock has hit an all-time record high in the past
(00:45):
couple of days, nearly $ 60 a share. And certainly I
was celebrating yesterday in earnest when Austin Riley in the
bottom of the eighth took a three-run dinger, took a
pitch into the chop house down right field. Do we
have anything? There you see it, courtesy of the Atlanta Braves,
(01:12):
America's team. There is Austin Riley celebrating his nearly walk-off
three-run homer that gave the Braves a 5-3 lead. in
a game that was played at 2 p.m. Eastern yesterday.
There is currently a game that is being played right now,
and we are right now dealing with a 1-1 tie
(01:35):
in the bottom of the third in Atlanta. I hope
the Braves can advance and eliminate the hated Philadelphia Eagles. Well,
the hated Philadelphia Phillies here in short order. All right,
let's have some fun. The team shared with me yesterday...
A very poor choice that was made by Texas A & M.
(01:56):
The Aggies are 2-2, coming off losses to Kentucky and
coming off losses, a whipping, from LSU. 0-2 Texas A & M.
I am betting, I don't know if you guys would
sign off on this or not. Can we put up
the tweet, the initial tweet that Texas A & M
put out? I'm betting that back in July or August,
(02:19):
they said, hey, we're going to have a new end
zone design and we're going to go ahead and launch
this and it's going to get us a lot of
positive attention. And back in October, sorry, back in July
and August when the social media team planned this, They
may have thought they would be having a loss at LSU.
(02:42):
I don't think anybody anticipated a loss against Kentucky. And
when you have a poor start to the season in
the SEC, I would submit that the best thing you
can do is actually decide to tweet less. If you
are 0-2 in the SEC, and there are unfortunately a
(03:03):
few teams that are going to be 0-2 in the
SEC after this weekend– I would not be of the
opinion that you should be aggressively tweeting anything that could
turn into a huge mess online. But if you're not
a Texas A & M fan, the responses to this
tweet have been absolutely incredible. And I had William pull
(03:29):
a series of these, and we're going to have everybody react.
So again, stay tuned. New end zone design loading for
Saturday's game, Saturday against Arkansas. All right. Here is the
first suggestion that they just put ass, that they just
write the new ends.
Speaker 2 (03:50):
Sorry.
Speaker 1 (03:51):
The new end zone, instead of being the Aggies, they
are just ass. These are going to be very funny.
These are, again, the best takes on what the new
end zone for Texas A & M should be.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
Help us. Please send a coordinator.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Offense has not been good. And so we need help.
Please send a coordinator. These are very good. All right,
the next one, please score here. Home of, instead of
the 12th man, the two and two man. I mean, Aggie,
even Aggie fans have to be laughing a little bit
(04:34):
about this. But again, your social media team led you
over the middle and got you completely decked. Poor, long-suffering Aggies.
This one is certainly going to resonate. Same result. different year.
That is very, very well done as well. We also have,
(04:57):
we should relegate to D3. We should relegate to D3
suggestions for what should be the new end zone design. Oh,
and then this one is tough. This is kind of brutal.
This is from a Longhorn fan. Texas A & M
has not beaten Texas in 5,419 days. Now, to be fair,
(05:24):
they didn't play a bunch of those years because when
Texas A & M left for the SEC, they canceled
the yearly rivalry game. It has been returned. And so far,
Texas A & M has still not beaten Texas. We
also have very simply help wanted. And I mean, these
(05:46):
are really good credit to William for pulling them. Here
is one more home of the 12th man. The other
11 are still looking for the ball. I mean, that is,
that is pretty funny. And then a shot at the
NFL coupled with The Texas A & M Aggies, simply
(06:08):
a suggestion that the end zone say as many in
the NFL do end racism. That, my friends, very, very
well done. That is Texas A & M setting itself
up for. Complete and utter obliteration. Okay, let's hit a
couple of things. My picks are up. College football last weekend,
(06:30):
we went 13-6. We nearly are back to 50%. The
haters were not happy with my performance last week, and
I said, you know what? As I was going through,
looking at the lines at Hard Rock Bet, I've got
19 more picks for you. Now, We're going to put
up the screen. That's a lot of college football games, okay?
(06:51):
The blood bank guarantee this week, I am very confident.
I'm sorry to put it on you, Nebraska. Nebraska is
going to crush Maryland. All right. So if you want
the blood bank guarantee and you want to get on
it early, I believe we are three in one on
the blood bank guarantee. This is my favorite bet every week.
(07:12):
You can get hooked up to at hard rock bet.
If you go to hard rock dot bet slash clay,
if you bet a hundred dollars, you will get back
a hundred dollars in bonus bets. You can play in Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan,
New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia, and my home state of Tennessee.
(07:36):
It doesn't matter if you've already signed up. It's the
only place you can legally play in Florida. If you
have not already signed up, then you should. But even
if you have, you get $ 100 in bonus bets when
you bet $ 5. That is hardrock.bet.com. All of these are
up as my college football picks are. every single Wednesday.
(08:00):
On Thursday, we also will have the picks. There is
the graphic of all of my picks. We will talk
more about these probably on Friday. But every Wednesday before
noon is my goal, although sometimes it is more of
a challenge than others. So you can get hooked up
right there. I've been talking about the dominance of the
(08:22):
SEC now that they are playing nine conference games. And
every week, the ratings keep coming out. And basically, you're
seeing that the nation is overwhelmingly voting that they want
to watch college football in the SEC. The most watched game,
not a big surprise, of the weekend was Texas at Tennessee.
(08:44):
This number 9.7 million viewers was the highest rated noon
kickoff game on ESPN or ABC this in 10 years. Now,
that's a sign that it shouldn't have been a noon game.
It should have been a primetime at night game. I
think that it would have been even more viewed if
that had taken place. But as you can see, once
(09:07):
you had nearly 10 million people watching Texas-Tennessee, many of
those people hung around. They continued to watch even though
LSU crushed Texas A & M in that final game.
Big audience for LSU. And Texas A & M, big
audience for Florida against Ole Miss. And I believe the
(09:29):
best deal that exists in sports right now is ESPN's
deal for the SEC. I would bet that ESPN makes
more money off the SEC than they do most years
off the NFL and the NBA. I think it's the
best single deal that ESPN has. Credit to them. For
(09:51):
getting it done and having had the success to do so.
Speaker 4 (09:54):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
It's aging. Wilson, how do I pronounce this, guys? Aja,
I don't watch a lot of WNBA. I don't watch
a lot of women's basketball. Is it Aja? I think
it's pronounced Aja, whatever her name is. This thing is
going super viral. Last night, the Indiana Fever are playing.
(10:19):
This is the Las Vegas Aces, right? The Las Vegas Aces.
are the defending champion of the WNBA. And this woman
is one of the star players of the WNBA. A
apostrophe J-A.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Asia?
Speaker 1 (10:34):
Asia? I don't need Asia. Okay. I mean, come on.
I mean, just please, like, can we just spell names
like normal names? This is like a never-ending thing. You
pronounce a name that looks like it should be pronounced
one way, and it's like, oh, no, I'm sorry. That's
a very different name. How about we just spell it
like it sounds? Okay. So phonetically. So this is Asia,
(10:57):
like the continent. I didn't even know Asia. All right.
So Asia is is commits a foul. And then a player,
a fan in the crowd. This is an Indiana, Indiana
fever crowd points at her. And this WNBA player rushes
(11:17):
over to him and creates what could have been a
scene to his credit. He did not lose his mind.
Just watch this video.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
Foul is called, and it's going against Cunningham. And Wilson
with some words to say to a fan behind the basket.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
And we were here before when a fan was ejected.
Speaker 5 (11:45):
For something they said.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
You can see the fan behind the basket say something
to Aja Wilson, and she immediately takes exception. There's stoppage
on the floor right now as they clear this up
and get this fan out of the building.
Speaker 5 (12:19):
This is really unfortunate.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
And I feel like this has happened several times here
in Indiana.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
The intensity of a game is enough. Okay, so we
can stop it. I don't know if there's anything else.
You can hear all the Amazon Prime announcers. They're all like,
oh my goodness, she's such a victim here. No, he
did nothing wrong. He pointed at her, which obviously the
Sophie Cunningham point meme has become very, very famous, right?
(12:50):
So he points at her. His wife then has him
sit down. She runs over and just stands over him,
berates him, lectures him. These players are just utterly unlikable.
And again, the idea that you would go into the crowd,
(13:10):
she is in the wrong here. He did nothing wrong whatsoever.
The only time that the WNBA is in the news
is when players do absurd things that are indefensible.
Speaker 6 (13:26):
Really?
Speaker 1 (13:26):
I mean, I didn't even know. Once football starts, I've
got the Atlanta Braves game going on, and you have
the Major League Baseball playoffs. No one is watching the WNBA.
There is no audience for this product. In fact, if
you want to talk about what morons they are, the
fact that they're having their post-season in the middle of
(13:48):
the football season is a sign of what morons they are. Now,
I don't even know when usually the WNBA season ends.
I think they extended it to go play in some
FIBA tournament that nobody watched. Once football comes around... And
once the Major League Baseball postseason is going, nobody cares
about the WNBA. You should have ended your league when
(14:11):
NFL training camps start. Because once NFL training camps start
and once college football starts and once Major League Baseball
is in the postseason, nobody cares about anything you're doing.
But she's not a victim. You're going to watch the
usual suspects line up and say, oh my goodness, look
how offensive that fan did. Nothing wrong. I'm glad they
(14:32):
didn't kick him out of the game. Good for him.
This is normal fan behavior. This whole thing is ridiculous.
I did want to update you. On the Auburn story,
the Staffer story about the arrest that took place, this
was initially a story that came out from On3, I believe,
(14:54):
if I am correct in this. Justin Hokanson of On3
had this story initially. You can see it right there.
New info today per William, who works on the program here.
Jen Rath was fired this summer. This is what we're reporting.
(15:15):
I presume William, this is what you are saying. You have,
you have reported like this is from us, not from
anywhere else. He was fired this summer after he called
in sick, instead attended an NCAA regional baseball game. He
was caught fired. He then changed his profile avatar on
(15:35):
Twitter and, to various Tennessee Vols-related profile pictures. Never was
enrolled at the University of Tennessee. I think there were
some reports that he was enrolled there. This week, he
was prank calling players and coaches. The reason the arrest
was made this week is for precautionary purposes because Tennessee
(16:00):
is playing against Auburn. So that is the latest on
that crazy story. The Florida Gator fan, and another crazy story,
the Florida Gator fan who went viral, here she is,
her father reached out to me. He is a fan
(16:21):
of the program. He said that she has gotten a
lot of media requests, but that he wanted her to
talk to me because he is a fan and knows
that we will be fair. And so the plan is
for us to be talking with her. She has gone
mega viral. The dad reached out. He said everybody under
(16:41):
the sun has been trying to write stories about her.
But her name is Peyton. Last name is pronounced Bloomquist.
and he says he wished it had two O's because
that would make it make more sense. Actually, my sister
is married to a Blomquist woman which is spelled, I
(17:03):
believe almost the same way, but we pronounce it Blomquist. So, uh,
there you go. So Blomquist, uh, is going to be
with us. Uh, hopefully we will have an interview. I'm
actually kind of fascinated. She is a, uh, just so
we know is a freshman. She's only been in college
a couple of months. She is doing pre-med. Um, and, uh,
she is, uh, According to her dad, an awesome college
(17:27):
student who was not expecting to become super famous by
going to a Florida Gator fan and go Florida Gator
game and going immediately viral. So there is an update there.
I believe we have another picture of the Oval Office
visit Monday. I've Saturday interviewed President Trump at the Tennessee University.
(17:48):
and Texas game. Then we went to the Oval Office,
Buck and I did. Here's the other picture. Shout out
Steven Chung, who is in the background there. Other picture
from the Oval Office. I think we only played one
of these. That was pretty cool. It's hard to be
in a bad picture in the Oval Office, but very,
very cool to have seen the way that this all
(18:12):
played out.
Speaker 3 (18:13):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
Now the This story, I don't know how many people
are going to pay attention to it, but Sidney Sweeney,
you guys may remember, you can put up the picture
of Sidney Sweeney. There she is. She did a sports
gambling ad that turned controversial because people said it was
sexist or demeaning to women or whatever else. Now, there
(18:35):
you go with Sidney Sweeney. And by the way, I'm
continuing to watch the Braves game, still 1-1 in that
Braves game. I think it's in the bottom of the
fourth right now, if I am correct. All right, Sydney
Sweeney right there. The company that she did the sports
gambling ad for in February raised at a $ 500 million valuation.
(18:57):
That is, the entire company was worth $ 500 million. They
just announced today that they are raising $ 500 at a
$ 2 billion valuation. Now, I don't know directly how much
of the quadrupling of overall valuation you can attribute here
(19:19):
to Sidney Sweeney, who has equity in the company. But
I think it's fair to say probably, probably that this
would be worth somewhere in the neighborhood of hundreds of
millions of dollars. Honestly, I would probably put it at,
in terms of how you raise money, brand awareness, everything else.
(19:42):
I bet that this ad made them $ 500 million, maybe more.
It may have made them a billion dollars. in terms
of their ability to raise at that value. Now, I'm
not saying that the ad made a billion dollars in
impact in terms of tangible reality. I'm saying that in
terms of brand awareness and the ability to get people
(20:05):
to stroke checks, it would not stun me if this
was a billion-dollar ad. I don't think it's coincidental that
they do this ad, which is everywhere, and then they're
able to quadruple the valuation of the company. I think
it certainly had to help with their raise, the fact
that they knew that they had Sidney Sweeney now on
(20:25):
as an investor. Props to Sidney Sweeney yet again. Serious story.
Earlier today, There was an alleged terror attack on a
flight that the fly Dubai Airlines that was going from
Dubai to Tel Aviv and Israel. One of the pilots
reportedly stabbed the other pilot and then was going to
(20:49):
try to crash the airline. The stabbed pilot was able.
to get the cockpit door open. Others came in and
were able to subdue the would-be assassin. I did my
show with Buck. We talked about this story quite a lot,
even though it was breaking news and still in the
(21:11):
early part of the day in terms of the information
that was coming out. I think we have a couple
of tweets from me. I watch every day MSNBC, basically MSNOW.
Here is, by the way, the video of the plane
dropping about 14,000 feet almost instantaneously before it came back up. MSNBC,
(21:33):
I mean, that is terrifying. Can you imagine being on
the plane when it plummeted like this? Fox News was
live inside of the Tel Aviv airport. Eventually, CNN had
live coverage from inside of the Tel Aviv airport. Do
you know who didn't cover basically this story at all? MSNBC.
(21:56):
Do you know why? My theory is because they have
tried to argue falsely that Israel is responsible for a
genocide in Gaza. It's not a genocide. It's a war.
I've been to the October 7, 2023 terror locations. I've
been to the music festival. I've been to the kibbutzes.
I have seen for myself the evil that was perpetrated
(22:19):
by Hamas on that day. Hamas started a war. Israel
has responded in kind. Some people who are innocent have
died because of the actions of Hamas in killing 1,200
people on October 7, 2023, and taking roughly 250 Israelis
hostage and holding some of them for years. I have
(22:40):
seen all of this with my own eyes. Hamas is
the bad guy. It is not a genocide to respond
to someone who attacks you. Take it outside of Israel.
Imagine what we would do if a terror group in
Mexico came across our border, killed 1,200 of our citizens,
(23:00):
and then kidnapped 250 of them. We would carpet bomb
that organization back to the Stone Ages. Some innocent people
would die. That is the reality of what happens in war.
When you are arguing this is a genocide or that
somehow Hamas is the good guys in this situation or
(23:22):
that Israel deserved it, as some argue, all of that
is 100% false. It's important to call it out. That
is the reality of where we are. Positive. And by
the way, we're going to tape the Animal Thunderdome here
in a bit. The Hormuz situation. Front page of today's
(23:44):
New York Times echoes the front page yesterday of the
Wall Street Journal. Basically, oil and gas is now flowing
at virtually the same rate that it was in February
through the Strait of Hormuz. When the New York Times
is writing a front page story saying, hey, oil and
gas is back to normal, you have to accept that
(24:06):
that is likely true because they certainly don't want to
say anything positive in any way about that. We are
about one month away from the midterms. A couple of
things that are out there. My friend Michelle Tafoya continues
to show up in polling. suggesting that she has a
chance to beat Peggy Flanagan. That is the latest number
(24:28):
that is out there, and I believe we have a
tweet from that Minnesota Senate poll. Everything that I'm seeing
from the Senate suggests that this is going to be
super close. There is my tweet on that. I also
did a hit on the midterms with Fox, and I
believe we have that video. We can play it right now.
Speaker 6 (24:49):
Do you think most Republicans would say, yes, I'm happy
or no, I'm not?
Speaker 1 (24:56):
Well, Stu, I like to think I'm happy no matter
who the president is. And I would encourage everybody out
there to try to work on that because you're not
going to be able to control individually who the president is.
But I do think what Newt Gingrich is hitting on
is a version of the message that I would run with,
which is this. Democrats set the country on fire with
the affordability crisis that they created. When Joe Biden came
(25:19):
into office, inflation 1.9 percent. It rapidly went to 9.1 percent.
It averaged five percent a year during his time in office.
So far, inflation has averaged two point nine percent a year,
I believe, is the current number in Trump's term in office.
It's gotten much better. People don't feel it yet. Do
you trust the arsonists to put the fire out that
(25:41):
they started? I don't, which is why I'm going to
be voting Republican in the midterms.
Speaker 6 (25:46):
I believe you spoke with President Trump at the Texans
versus Tennessee football game. I have to say, he seems
to really enjoy sporting events. He seems to suck up
the energy of the crowd.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
He just didn't. That's him.
Speaker 6 (25:59):
He loves it, doesn't he?
Speaker 1 (26:02):
Yeah, look, he's the sports fan in chief. He's been
to the World Cup. He's been to the Super Bowl.
He's been to the NBA finals. He's been now to
one of the biggest college football games of the year.
He was at the golf event over the weekend. He's
been at a huge variety of golf events recently. over
the past year and more. He loves it. And it
was great to be able to talk with him. And
(26:23):
I was with him in the Oval Office yesterday. He
was excited that we got 77 votes in the Senate
on the Protect College Sports Act. And now he's saying
that the House needs to get their act together and
pass this bill so he can help solve the issue
out there when it comes to NIL and college sports.
Speaker 6 (26:41):
It must be fun if you're a sports fan and
you're the president of the United States and you can
go to any sporting event and you win. Anytime, anywhere
you want, you can go.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
Not only that, you get to fly in Air Force
One and have it buzz the stadium. Have you seen
all those viral clips of Air Force One flying over
Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, Tennessee on Saturday? I mean, it
was a perfect day of weather. It was a great game.
If you're a Texas Longhorns, it was not a great
game if you're a Tennessee Volunteer fan. But it was
(27:12):
a spectacle of sporting excess there. in a festive setting
that only american college sports can bring to bear and
i had a great time i know the president did
and so did the hundred some odd thousand who watched
the game with us and a.
Speaker 6 (27:25):
Good time was had by all clake travis thanks man.
Speaker 1 (27:30):
All right we're going to the bottom of the fifth
in atlanta still tied at one that was me on
fox business couple of more clips that i want to
hit um rarely happens but this uh cornell rape case
is getting a ton of attention And Sonny Hostin on
The View, she nailed it. Here is Sonny Hostin talking
(27:51):
about the Cornell rape case. I want to give her
credit where credit is due. This might be the first
time ever where I've said, you know what? I 100
percent agree with Sonny Hostin. This is what she said earlier.
Speaker 5 (28:01):
I actually have the statement that Jane Doe wrote at
that time.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
And just give it to us in a sentence.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
We don't have a lot of time.
Speaker 1 (28:11):
It's several pages long.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
I know, but.
Speaker 5 (28:14):
It's nine pages long. And I will say that under
current New York state law, voluntary intoxication or drug use,
and she voluntarily drank a lot. She voluntarily snorted ketamine
off of one of the boys' body parts.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Even though she was highly intoxicated when she arrived at
the frat house.
Speaker 5 (28:33):
She was highly intoxicated, but had made plans to meet
one of the young men.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
She all.
Speaker 5 (28:40):
She allowed other boys and consented to other boys snorting
ketamine off of her body. And under New York law,
voluntary intoxication or drug use that merely impairs judgment does
not legally constitute an inability to consent to sexual activity, right?
So that means if you voluntarily ingest drugs, you voluntarily
(29:02):
take alcohol, you can agree to have threesomes, which in
her statement she agreed to have two separate threesomes. One
boy did walk in. One young man did walk in
and say, everybody out. So there was one person that
did that. And according to her statement, three of the
young men did not touch her. And so I say
(29:26):
all that. But I say all that to say the
pictures of these young men who have not been charged,
not been adjudicated, are being plastered all over the internet.
I think people are reporting this story inaccurately. I think
they're reporting it unfairly. And while this is something that
we have to take very seriously, there is no way,
(29:48):
according to her statement in 2024, that any prosecutor would
have brought forth the case.
Speaker 6 (29:53):
Yeah, but she was intoxicated.
Speaker 5 (29:54):
How did she... Under New York law, again, under New
York law, voluntary intoxication, if you voluntarily drink 10 beers
and you voluntarily ingest ketamine, but that intoxication... That doesn't
have anything to do with the fact that the guys
attacked her, whether she's drunk or not.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
No, no.
Speaker 5 (30:13):
According to her statement, she says she... They did not
attack her. Her statement in 2024, she consented to the
sexual activity. She consented to it according to her own
statement in 2024. Now, I prosecuted sex crimes for 10 years.
I believe women. I am not saying that we shouldn't
(30:35):
believe her. But in 2024, she said one thing. And
now in 2026, she's saying another thing.
Speaker 1 (30:42):
All right. There were 12 different hearings at the university
on this case. Again, Sonny did a good job breaking
that down. The idea that this woman is a victim
and was ignored is 100% not true. Now, There were
seven guys involved. There were consequences. A couple of them
(31:03):
got expelled. I don't know every single detail of all
12 of those hearings, but this was investigated in earnest
for a long period of time. So the fact that
this complaint has been filed and they have tried to
suggest that this was ignored or there was some kind
of cover-up, that frankly is not true. I want to
(31:27):
close with this. John James, running for governor of Michigan,
was on with us yesterday on Clay and Buck, and
I asked him about the brave holdout juror who refused
to vote that Lindsey Clancy was not guilty. Here is
what John James said. I would echo much of this
(31:49):
as well. We're talking about the Lindsay Clancy case. There's
a lot of guys out there, black, white, Asian, Hispanic,
that are just over the BS. In fact, the one
juror who had the guts, who was enough of a
hero to stand up and say no... actually was a
black guy from Massachusetts, didn't surprise me. I don't think
(32:10):
it surprised you. Lots of guys out there in particular
of all different backgrounds are over this BS. Are you
seeing that in Michigan? What would you say about that juror?
And how would you reach out to people regardless of
their background to support you there?
Speaker 2 (32:26):
Well, first of all, our hearts are still broken over
those three little angels who were murdered in cold blood.
And I want to applaud the gentleman who stood up
for the right thing. He did the right thing, thinking
more about those children than the political pressure and the
pressure he was getting in the room. He understood the
(32:46):
truth and he did the right thing. And that's what's
really missing right now in today's society, by switching truth
for lies and lies for truth. And he stood up
for truth on his convictions and did the right thing.
But right now, overall, people are just sick of being
told not to believe their eyes. People are sick of
being sold a bill of goods, and people are beginning
to wake up. People in Detroit, for example, know they've
(33:07):
been under Democrat rule for over 60 years and nothing
has changed. In fact, things have gotten worse. I was
raised in Detroit, and the same houses that I passed
by as a little boy that were burned during Devil's Night,
I passed by as an adult, but there was a
tree growing through it. Somebody needed to do something, and
the good Lord has blessed me enough that I could
step up and be able to fight for those who
can't fight for themselves and stand for those who can't
(33:28):
stand for themselves, and that's why I'm running. When you
have things that you are being able to deliver, excellent schools,
safer streets, and a more affordable Michigan, with policies that
actually work in the real world, rather than these ivory
tower ideas from the coastal elites that are completely detached
from reality. These are the types of things that people
are beginning to wake up and saying, enough, enough with
(33:49):
the ideology, enough with the pandering. And frankly, when you
look at places like Detroit, Jocelyn Benson said, was on
the board of the SPLC. And this is a group
that funneled money to extremist groups like the KKK. She
also had two racial discrimination lawsuits against her and has
a court case against her for racial gerrymandering in the
(34:10):
city of Detroit. And so people are beginning to open
their eyes and say, oh my goodness, we can recognize
the difference between an opportunity with John James or an
opportunist with Jocelyn Benson. And people are giving us a shot.
I've gone around with everyone from preachers to rappers and
people are keeping an open mind. And I'm excited for
the opportunity to make sure that we bring prosperity to
everywhere around the state, but it's going to have a
(34:32):
disproportionate positive effect to people who've been disrespected, disregarded, and
disenfranchised for the longest period of time.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Okay, that is John James. Well said. Thanks again for
the bravery of that Michigan juror in the Lindsay Clancy case.
