Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
The next role the Cavaliers. Jalen Brunson is your MVP.
And now they wait since the Spurs and the Thunder
are tied at two games a piece, when you think
about the Cavaliers, because normally what we do before we
move on to talk about the team that advanced, we
talk about the team that didn't. And for the Cleveland Cavaliers,
they brought in James Harden, they took a swing. The
(00:27):
reason why they didn't win a game or they didn't
advance is not on James Harden. Now he's part of
the problem, not part of the solution. And at his age,
he's no longer that offensive machine. And you saw that
throughout this series. And I think we got to come
up with a different word, maybe a softer word for quit,
because Charles Barkley, the inside the NBA guys talked about
(00:50):
the Cavaliers quitting and I don't know what that word
is because I think it's dangerous to throw that word out.
They are professionals, They get paid and a lot of
money to play, and how do you just decide to quit?
Like is it said? Do you talk about it because
it was a team then that quit. And I don't
(01:11):
know if it's kind of systemic that all of a
sudden you see somebody not really hustling, and I look
at second chance points and this is what the Knicks dominated,
you know, thirty two to five. And to me, that's
just attitude, that's wanting something more than the other person does.
Now you might say, well, they're down three to zero, Okay,
go back to the first game. There's no excuse for that.
(01:35):
And if they win that game, does that change anything
in this series? Like, are the Knicks that much better
than the Calves? That the Calves had their moment, lost
their moment, and then never found their moment again. And
I talked about that loss after Game one. I said,
some losses are more than just one loss. And you
saw that because it kind of permeated through the Cleveland Cavaliers,
(01:56):
and I felt bad for Donovan Mitchell. He's trying to
fire up his team. You're in the Eastern Conference Finals.
You should not need to be you should not need
a cheerleader. And that was what was surprising there. So
if you have a suggestion on a different word for quit,
I'm all ears for that. We'll have a poll question,
(02:19):
play of the day, stat of the Day. All of
that forthcoming first Hour brought to you by Liberty Liberty
Liberty Mutual Insurance. Why pay full price when you can
customize and save. Switch to Liberty Mutual. They'll customize your
home and auto insurance so you only pay for what
you need. I know I'm saying this isn't about James Harden,
but I do have to mention a couple of things.
Once again, more turnovers than field goals. And if you
(02:42):
start to look at the players he's played with, he's
first Battle Hall of Famer. We know that one of
the great scores of all time. He's played with, Kevin Durant,
Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, joellenb Tyree, Smasey Kawhi, Leonard Kyrie, Irving,
Donovan Mitchell. Sometimes you're the problem because you've played with
a lot of talent. But there are certain guys who
(03:04):
are built for the regular season and certain teams that
are built for the regular season, and then you got
guys who were built for the postseason. And it's always
interesting when you see, you know, like John Smoltz for
the Braves was probably the third best pitcher on his
staff behind Maddison Glavin get into a postseason Madison Glavin
(03:25):
were average. John Smoltz became a Hall of Famer. Kurt
Shilling good regular season pitcher, put him in a postseason
Hall of Famer.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
In my opinion.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Jack Morris really good pitcher, regular season, postseason, became a
Hall of Famer. This is where legacies are defined. This
is when we look back. We'll look back on Jalen
Brunson's career, probably with this season in mind, and rightfully so.
He has a chance to be the greatest New York
Nick of all time if he wins the NBA Finals,
(03:58):
he wins the MVP. Well, it's a short list, but
Jalen Brunson is doing what you want and a great player.
Maybe SGA does this again, if Wemby has to do this,
We'll look back and say, man, he won a title
at twenty two. And if you get Nicks in the
Spurs in the NBA Finals, everybody is a winner, all right,
(04:22):
Dylan Let's pole question. By the way, one more item
with James Harden. He was asking this question after yesterday's loss.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
How much better, if they're better, are the next than
you guys.
Speaker 5 (04:36):
I can't even answer that question honestly, you know what
I mean, Like, yeah, it was four zero, but I
don't think we get we had a chance as far
as our best shot, you know, from from a standpoint
of the circumstances. You know, obviously they just they.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
They dominated us four oh.
Speaker 5 (04:57):
But yeah, I don't know if I can necessarily answer
that qu question just because genuinely I do feel like
we are the better team serious wise, you know, I
didn't show it, so tough question to answer.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
I get it. You know, you just lost.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
It's embarrassing and you're asked, you know, are they better
than you? How much better? I guess the easy answer
would be four to oh, that's how much better? Because
you have to have clarity and be based in reality.
If you're the Cavaliers moving forward now, it's not incumbent
upon James Harden to be like, you know, what we
should be doing in the off season. I did wonder
(05:33):
this when the game ended, And not to make this
about him Lebron, James does Lebron See the opening here,
You get rid of James Harden. Lebron comes in, You
bookend your career and maybe maybe you're able to do
something one more time. I did think that, because we
(05:54):
do have Lebron kind of in limbo, I still feel
like the money is too great that it'll stay with
the LA Lakers. But I did wonder that if they
had gone to the finals, I don't think Lebron would
be entertaining the Cleveland Cavaliers and vice versa no matter
what happened, because they might say, hey, we're right there.
I mean, this isn't like Kevin Durant where you're gonna
(06:16):
beat the Golden State Warriors. No you don't. You guys
collapse now, I'm going to join the Golden State Warriors.
At this point in Lebron's career, I did wonder about that,
does this outcome have anything to do with what his
immediate future is going to be?
Speaker 3 (06:31):
All right? Dylan Poll question today? Yeah, Dan, we got
a couple.
Speaker 4 (06:36):
If you're the Knicks, who would you rather see in
the finals.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
The Spurs are the Thunder.
Speaker 2 (06:46):
I would probably rather see the Thunder because they're not healthy.
Even though they have the MVP, they have the experience,
they won the title. I think Wemby is you just
don't have an answer for Wemby. And I think they're
a little healthier than Oka See. Now Okac is deeper,
but I would probably look at maybe oka See just
(07:09):
because of some injuries that they have. But I it's
pretty close. I mean, the Knicks are on a historical role.
I mean they're they're blowing people out. They're not just winning,
they're embarrassing teams. And I don't know if they now
you're going to have the rest versus rust, but you
got this nixed team that's going to be sitting and
(07:31):
waiting and waiting. And then I wonder. It almost feels like,
no matter what happens, whoever gets to the finals, the
Knicks will lose Game one because they're gonna you know,
Cleveland should have won Game one in this series too.
Speaker 6 (07:44):
Yes, Mark, if you're the Atlanta Hawks, you're like, man,
we had a really good seasons.
Speaker 3 (07:48):
We beat the Knicks two times in the postseason. I know.
Speaker 7 (07:52):
Yes, Paul, imagine being a Knicks fan today and your
issue is who do you want to face next in
the finals.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
Golly, yeah, it's a nice dilemma to have. Yes, Yes, Dyling,
it does seem like you're getting a little bit of
a raw deal though.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
It's like you whoever pick your poison really, right with
the Thunder and the Spurs, I mean it's not you know,
they'll be their toughest test by far, so so far.
Speaker 2 (08:14):
Yeah, well, you can't be choosy here. You got to
take who is ever in front of you. But I
would just say I'd probably rather face okayc Here's another
thing that happens. A lot of times. We'll watch a sport.
We might not watch a team, and then you're forced
to watch that team. And then when you watch that team,
you go, like the Spurs when they were winning championships,
(08:38):
you weren't watching during the regular season, but you had
to watch during the postseason, and then you go, oh,
they're not very excited. No, they weren't. They were just great.
Ok See, you don't watch them during the regular season,
but now you're forced to watch them, and then you're
watching SGA and then you're going gow lead is Yeah,
(09:02):
for the last couple of years, years he's been doing that,
but you haven't been watching. Now you're forced to watch,
and then everybody is outraged that he gets these calls.
Speaker 3 (09:12):
I don't blame him.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Now you can say, oh, you're a basketball purist, would
you have a problem with this, No, no, whatever I
can get away with. I mean, blame it on the officials.
Don't blame it on SGA. If they stop calling, he'll
stop flopping, right, That's what happens. So I'm going to
blame the NBA for SGA. But if I'm SGA, I
(09:37):
take advantage of everything anything. I want an edge. Oh
you know the route the year taking. You know that's
not basketball worthy, that's not you know, MVP worthy. But
now you're forced to watching, and now you're watching all
the plays, not just clips. Oh, I don't watch the
(09:58):
NBA because they flop. Well, how do you know they
flop without watching? But I'm curious how things will be
officiated in the NBA finals because you want to have
the best game on display. You don't want it to
be Oh, look at this.
Speaker 3 (10:15):
You know what.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
We would watch soccer for years and I would go,
I hate watching it. All they do is flop. Well
that's because you're watching highlights maybe and not the full
game to give it full context. But yes, does SGA
is he a foul merchant?
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Yes he is. He's mastered it. It's a masterclass. Harden
used to do this. Mastered it.
Speaker 2 (10:39):
Mean Pete Harden was all about initiating contact and you
are the one that gets called for the foul. But
that's what's going to be interesting. You're going to be
able to see this next team and you're going to
get this question, are they likable? I heard that a
couple of times over the weekend. Hey do you think
the Knicks are likable? I go, yeah, they play hard,
(11:02):
great home court advantage, Your star acts like a star.
It's a team effort. I love watching Josh Hart, Kat
has sacrificed. Oj Nanobi has been great. They found a
team now Landry Shammitt like you're just you find a team.
And if you look down through the years, you gotta
(11:24):
have a Josh Hart or Caruso. I mean throughout history
there is always one of those guys andre Iguodala, Like
you got to have that guy who he's kind of
the glue. What do you need, I'll do it. Not
everybody can be a star, and just about everybody was
a star when they were in college or high school.
(11:45):
Here they have a true team effort, and I think
that's what's really incredible about this run. And it starts
with Brunson. He is going to give you everything that
he possibly has, and I think because of that's it
kind of just trickles down. And I do believe there
(12:06):
is something about bringing in players who win. Josh Hart
and Jalen Brunson won in college, you know, the Villanova Knicks.
I do think that that's really important to have winners,
guys who know what it takes, they won before. I
think that's really really important. And you're seeing that it's
an incredible run by the Knicks, but you gotta win
the title.
Speaker 3 (12:28):
You gotta win the title.
Speaker 6 (12:29):
Yes, Marvin, I think they're kind of in a win
win situation. So, say, if they win the NBA title,
obviously unbelievable, one of the greatest runs ever. But if
they lose, people will always remember this run. Say if
they go to six or seven games against the Spurs
of there thunder, people will look at them just like
(12:50):
you do the ninety nine or the ninety four Knicks.
You're gonna look at him that way.
Speaker 2 (12:54):
They don't even think about the ninety nine Knicks because
the Spurs were so much better and had you know,
ewing injury, and I don't think they go, oh, remember
the ninety nine season.
Speaker 6 (13:05):
If you're a Knicks thing you do, mmm, because we say,
what for the first time since what now nineteen ninety four?
John Starks comes back to a great ovation every single
time he's in the garden.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
You got to win the title. Oh, of course you
have to, But I don't think you get a consolation prize. Boy,
look at what we did against the crappy Hawks team,
a crappy Sixers team, and a Cleveland Cavalier team that
maybe quit. Hey, we got to the NBA Final. You
gotta win, gotta win, Yes, Paul I would.
Speaker 7 (13:36):
Have agree, agreed with Marvin if the Knicks hadn't been
rolling the past three weeks and dominating the past three weeks.
They really upped the expectations dramatically.
Speaker 2 (13:43):
Yeah, you gotta win. That's what it's. So, that's what
New York's all about. Nobody talks about. Boy, the Yankees
got to the World Series against the Dodgers. It's we
got embarrassed in the World Series against the Dodgers.
Speaker 6 (13:55):
Yes, Mark, Well, we're talking about the Knicks, not the Yankees.
Have two NBA titles, not twenty seven. So it's a
different animal.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
You think it.
Speaker 2 (14:05):
Knicks fan is gonna be okay with this and go, Hey,
we made it to the finals and we took the
Spurs to six games after that.
Speaker 6 (14:11):
No, but in hindsight, they'll always.
Speaker 3 (14:13):
Remember this running. Yes.
Speaker 4 (14:15):
Dylan also that the ninety four Necks the Rangers won
the Stanley Cup that year, so they got overshadowed in
their own building.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Be sure to catch the live edition of The Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at nine am Eastern six am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 8 (14:31):
This is Rob Parker and I'm here with an important
public service announcement. Whatever you do, do not listen to
the Paulie and Tony Fusco Show. Fox Sports Radio asked
me to do a promo, but I'm here to do
a no mo, as in, don't listen to this show,
no mo. The host are two fools from Philly who
have the dumbest takes ever in all of sports talk.
(14:54):
And you know, if I'm saying that, they must really
be bad. I have no idea why Fox Sports Radio
picked this up, but I know where to put it
down in the trash can. So please don't listen to
the Paulie and Tony Fusco Show.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
No way, no how.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
Mike Golden Knights are advancing to the Stanley Cup final
again third time in nine years. That's a pretty good percentage.
Three times playing for the Cup in nine years.
Speaker 3 (15:24):
Yes, Paul, didn't they fire the coach like nine weeks ago? Yeah, yes,
you know.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
You can look there have been coaches who have been
fired mid season or early in the season.
Speaker 9 (15:35):
Now.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Some of these like Jack McKinney in nineteen seventy nine,
nineteen eighty with the Lakers, he was involved in a
bicycle accident, and Paul Westhead came in and won the
title with the Lakers eighty one eighty two, Paul Westead
was fired eleven games in. Pat Riley came in led
them to the championship. He had been their announcer. The
(15:57):
Miami Heats. Stan Van Gundy let go after twenty one games.
Pat Riley came in again and got a title there
with the Miami Heat and then of course the twenty
fifteen to twenty sixteen Cabs. David Blatt, he was fired
mid season. They were thirty and eleven. The Cavaliers were
thirty and eleven and David Blatt got fired. His assistant
(16:21):
Tyron lou took over and won the title there. Golden
Knights going to the Stanley Cup Final.
Speaker 7 (16:28):
Yeah, Paul, So the Golden Knights fired Bruce Cassidy in
late March, they bring in John Tortorella. When you love
to know what the change was, what the message changed
when Torterella got there, because it's the same players.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Same roster, but he's you know, probably you know, he's
certainly a different coach. I mean, his personality everywhere he's gone.
He usually dominates the postgame press conferences, win or lose.
You're like, oh, do you hear what Tord's had to say?
Because he says some weird things, fun things, different things, Yes, Dylan, Yeah.
Speaker 4 (17:00):
He's not afraid to yell a little bit. From my
experience with the Rangers. But it's interesting how live and
well the President's Trophy curse is still the last team
to win the President's Trophy and the Stanley Cup is.
Speaker 2 (17:18):
It's been sixteen years ago, thirteen years thirteen years ago.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Okay, and that team was the Chicago Blackhawks. Okay, all right?
Speaker 2 (17:29):
Whoa stat of the day brought to you by Panini America,
the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. Operator
Tyler is sitting by. You'll take your phone calls eight
seven to seven three DP show. So the Abs of
(17:52):
the thirteenth consecutive President's Trophy winner, I had the best
regular season record to fail to advance to the Stanley
Cup final.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
Yeah, okay, Golden Knights.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
You know when you sweep the Abs, and the Abs were,
you know, putting up six seven eight goals. Golden Knights
come in and now they wait. They wait, probably for
the Carolina Hurricanes, which will be a lot of fun.
All righty, poll question for the first hour is going
to be what dylly.
Speaker 4 (18:22):
Well, We've got a couple options, Dan. This is from Todd.
My reaction to the Las Vegas Golden Knights sweeping the
Abs and playing for another Stanley Cup is jackpot or craps?
Speaker 2 (18:33):
Okay, Todd's got his Golden Knight's sweater on right now.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
I do big fan, big fan. And you wore a
sweatman too. I got my red.
Speaker 6 (18:44):
Yeah. I like to wear wristbands, and I figured up
little splash of red with the red on the sleeve
of the Golden Knight's kit jersey.
Speaker 3 (18:51):
Didn't you? Not a kid? Kid is soccer kit.
Speaker 9 (18:57):
I don't know about that.
Speaker 2 (18:58):
It's just what it's called, you know. Just because you
don't like it doesn't mean I mean not a big
soccer guy.
Speaker 3 (19:04):
I know.
Speaker 2 (19:07):
So the Golden Knights, that's third Stanley Cup in the
franchise's first nine seasons. Keep in mind the Arizona Cardinals
won their last title in eighteen forty seven. They're also
the Saint Louis Cardinals. Toronto hasn't won the Cup in
fifty nine years, the Lions and Browns have never reached
the Super Bowl, and the Cubs, of course, had a
(19:28):
one hundred and eight year World Series drought. So what
you have with the Golden Knights just doesn't happen. And
you know they benefited from the expansion Draft. But if
you go to a Golden Knights game, it's an event.
It's like a Vegas show. They do a great job.
The atmosphere is different than anybody else. As soon as
you see those sweaters on the ice, you know that
(19:51):
that's Vegas and back in the Stanley Cup final for
a third time in nine years.
Speaker 1 (19:56):

Speaker 3 (20:08):
Look at who's a big time actor now?
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Nate BURGETSI old friend Breadwinner opens today. Wow, I didn't.
I never thought i'd introduce you as movie star. But
uh well, congratulations, thank you brother.
Speaker 10 (20:25):
Look at a decent two O five five eight, going shorter,
non pop eleven. But Una, dude, it's crazy.
Speaker 9 (20:37):
Look I'm following your footsteps.
Speaker 10 (20:38):
I mean, I wanted to know how would you fill
on opening weekends?
Speaker 3 (20:44):
Well, be a wreck.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
Sandler would make me nervous because he would always say, Danny,
you hearing anything I go.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
You're in Hollywood, Sandler.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
But I remember when the totals for the first weekend
of Longest Yard came out and it was like eighty million,
and Sandler was relieved because I don't know if you're
gonna have joy or relief, let's say, on Sunday or
Monday when you get that first weekend box office numbers.
Speaker 10 (21:14):
I mean, really it both Well, it depends, Yeah, I
guess it really depends.
Speaker 9 (21:19):
I don't know.
Speaker 10 (21:20):
Those are the two things. It's either gonna be joy,
relief or jump off the building. So it's one of
the ones. I guess that's the relief part.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
Main difference between stand up and acting.
Speaker 9 (21:36):
The preparation.
Speaker 10 (21:38):
I mean, I just a lot of pressurations to stand up,
but it's you do it over time because you're doing
so many shows, so you're saying the same stuff and
you're kind of putting in words and here and there
and changing little things, and you get to do it
over especially before you type it's special. So there's a
where a movie is like it's this day, it's a
scene they jump around in their movie. I mean they
(21:59):
told me that, you know when I first came to
like it's you know, you don't shoot a movie in order,
which I kind of knew, but then it's creaz like,
are you know the first day you're doing some scene
that's at the end of.
Speaker 9 (22:10):
The movie and you're it was wild. I thought, why
would you not just shoot it in order? But I
guess they know what they're doing.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
But are you so you you don't have that immediate
reaction when you do your stand up, but are you
looking for reaction from the crew camera people like you
need you need that you're used to that feedback.
Speaker 10 (22:34):
Oh dude, I'll walk to cater and see if they
heard the joke I just said.
Speaker 9 (22:40):
I mean, I'll go, I'll go walk.
Speaker 10 (22:42):
It's brutal because you say something and then no one
can laugh and then.
Speaker 9 (22:46):
They already get done.
Speaker 10 (22:47):
The crew could be really good about it, so that's
too because they can then't laugh like actress or you're like,
but I mean, yes, sometimes I will.
Speaker 9 (22:54):
I would walk outside of it. You see it. You
hear that. You're just constantly doing that.
Speaker 11 (22:58):
That's pretty good joke, right, And there's like yeah, yeah.
Speaker 9 (23:00):
Yeah, yeah, and you're like okay, uh, because I poured
my heart out there on that one.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
But it's different than the audience that's showing up. They're
ready to laugh. The guys on the crew aren't showing
up ready to laugh. They have to do their job.
Speaker 10 (23:19):
They do, and but that's the heart That's been the
hardest thing is because it's you know, we started taping
last summer, which is which is relatively quick for a
movie to come out, you know, but I mean, like
I can't even imagine like when people are waiting.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Three years or something for a.
Speaker 10 (23:37):
Movie to come out, like just having to sit there
and being like what's going to happen? Like uh, you know,
I mean, yeah, that's been.
Speaker 11 (23:47):
The hardest part.
Speaker 10 (23:48):
But I mean, luckily i've shows this weekend, so I've
been doing shows and uh so trying to at least
hearing some laughs.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
We're talking to Nate Margatsi. The movie is the Bread
interopens today. He's encouraging theaters to charge a significantly reduced
Nate rate to make going to see it more affordable.
Also upcoming tour dates Knoxville, Birmingham, Savannah, Greensboro, Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, Phoenix,
San Jose, and San Diego. How much did you write
(24:19):
of this movie?
Speaker 10 (24:22):
A lot of it's like with my stand up, So
I would say it's like it was like a mix
of just you know, almost like my stand up and
a lot of stuff as went through it, and then
Dan Legana would go and you know, kind of put
it all together.
Speaker 9 (24:36):
But I mean Legana definitely was the one.
Speaker 10 (24:38):
That had to sit and he's has written scripts and
all it, so he said and did that.
Speaker 9 (24:44):
So it's but it's.
Speaker 11 (24:45):
It's heavily.
Speaker 10 (24:48):
You know, there's there's a lot of stuff in there
that's like kind of from my stand up and then
we kind of molded it together. But Dan definitely had
to do more of the heavy lifting on the writing
part of it.
Speaker 9 (24:59):
It was it's nice to write it because I could.
Speaker 10 (25:01):
Control what I say, like there's no crying. I wasn't
gonna you know, I wasn't putting any kind of like
saying that.
Speaker 9 (25:10):
I was like, I don't look like.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
An idiot, you know, like no crying.
Speaker 11 (25:15):
Uh.
Speaker 10 (25:17):
I was trying to know, like big laughing for me,
Like I didn't know if I could take that.
Speaker 3 (25:23):
So I was very well, let me hear, let me
hear your fake laugh.
Speaker 11 (25:29):
You already heard it earlier time.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
Thank you God. That's here's mine.
Speaker 9 (25:38):
That's what I heard all night when I was when
I was in New York.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
That's true. You can hear me laughing all the time.
Speaker 6 (25:44):
I was.
Speaker 11 (25:44):
That's all I heard from the crowd.
Speaker 9 (25:46):
I go, he loved it, my mom.
Speaker 11 (25:48):
When I go, I go, Dan loved it.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
Nate was killing it out there.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
Who tells you when when you're not funny?
Speaker 10 (25:58):
Uh My, My daughter is quick to it and tell
me it's not funny. She always go, well, that's an
adult joke. And I'm like, she's thirteen. Now, You're like,
well you're thirteen, you get and then he'll get defensive.
I go, you get the idea of why people would
like it, won't you like you.
Speaker 11 (26:16):
Know like, uh, it's brutal.
Speaker 9 (26:19):
Comics.
Speaker 10 (26:20):
Comics are not. They can laugh, but comics can very
much be. They just scare at you and they'll be like, yeah, dude,
that's great, Like Conan Conan O'Brien talked about that one time.
Any exactly that you're told joke to a comic and
I'll do it to you. Someone tell me I'm not
a great laugh at and sometimes they joke, but you
can tell me a joke and I'll be like, that's
(26:40):
the best joke I've ever.
Speaker 11 (26:41):
Heard in my life.
Speaker 9 (26:42):
And it'll be that it sounds.
Speaker 10 (26:44):
Like I hate you, but I'm honestly like, that's the
I'm like, that's the best joke I've ever heard.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
But I hate when somebody goes, oh, that's funny. I'll go, yeah,
then why didn't you laugh. I don't want you to say, oh,
that's funny. Well, funny to me is laughing.
Speaker 9 (27:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (27:04):
I mean I do do that too, where I go,
oh that's funny, and then it's been very you hear
it look.
Speaker 9 (27:11):
In this tone, it'd be like, oh, that's funny.
Speaker 10 (27:12):
Man. Like as a comic, that would be it's really funny.
If you're talking to something else you're like, oh, that's funny.
You say a little bit quicker. That's they don't take
it's funny. It's like you're like, what do you want
them to do? They got to get out of the situation,
so they just go Out's funny, and then they're trying
to get to the door.
Speaker 2 (27:30):
I always wondered about how, you know, musicians get to
play the same songs over and over and over. Billy
Joel can play you know, panel Man until he's one
hundred Springsteen, But how often can you bring something back
on a new tour, not your current tour, because I
know you're doing pretty much same thing every night.
Speaker 10 (27:50):
Yeah, look, if that is easy Billy Joel, it'd be nice.
Uh I'm joking.
Speaker 9 (27:57):
That's a real Joel.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Oh sorry, oh that's fun.
Speaker 11 (28:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 9 (28:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (28:03):
If I had it as easy as Bruce Springsteing brother,
I would be easy.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 11 (28:08):
Uh, you can't.
Speaker 9 (28:10):
It's they It's the hard.
Speaker 10 (28:11):
Part is it leaves your mind, you know, do you
you know you probably had this like sport do you
have like any like so many sports where everybody's like,
did you enjoy that like finals or whatever that you
were able to go to, And you're like I don't
remember going because you kind of just have to keep moving.
You're doing so much stuff that's like kind of crazy,
(28:33):
so you kind of got to keep moving it. It's
like that with stand up, Like once once I get
done tape in a special, which for worth next week,
I'm taping my special, and so once I get done
tape in it, it's like my brain is on like
panic mode to find a new to build a new hour,
and then once you shed an old thing, it gets
pretty hard to remember it.
Speaker 9 (28:54):
Like I couldn't do it. I don't.
Speaker 10 (28:55):
I would have to go listen to my last special
to see if I could do a joke from there.
Speaker 11 (29:01):
I couldn't do one off top.
Speaker 10 (29:03):
Because I it just you got to like empty your
brain so you could get new stuff in there.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Any actors comedians you sought advice on doing this movie?
Speaker 10 (29:16):
Yeah, I talked to it. Well, it was it was cool,
So I got to talk to uh. I did talk
to Sandler We're INCNL fifty. I was able to talk
to him and he was he was very wonderful about it,
like just you know saying, you know, just he's like
just be there every day just to see what's going on.
And all this, like the Big Ones. Wahlberg was someone
(29:38):
that I've got to know and able to talk.
Speaker 9 (29:40):
To him some about it. But I had Kamil Najianni.
Speaker 10 (29:44):
On in the movie, and he was He's someone I
started comedy with, so like my first day he was there,
which was nice because it's like.
Speaker 9 (29:55):
I know him, and you know, it was.
Speaker 10 (29:58):
Just he's just very He's very positive, very you know,
going like no, it's great, it's great, it's all this.
Speaker 9 (30:04):
So, I mean he would like him.
Speaker 11 (30:06):
I would have. And Colin Jost also, they're.
Speaker 9 (30:09):
So funny in it.
Speaker 11 (30:10):
And Colin was you know, Colin.
Speaker 10 (30:12):
Would come and he gets he I mean he's you
know the week. He's a writer, so like he comes
in and like would have like lines. He would text
me like like, hey, I thought about this you could
say in the movie, like just extremely helpful. Keep thinking
about it on the outside. You know, even when he
wasn't on set, he would think about it just to
(30:34):
you know, any of the lives, any stuff he can
make better.
Speaker 9 (30:37):
But yeah, I went to relying on those.
Speaker 11 (30:40):
Guys and just I put myself around people.
Speaker 9 (30:43):
I know, and then like Mandy and the girls, the.
Speaker 10 (30:46):
Daughters we have in it are so good, and they
became like sisters on set, and I think that helps
like once you you know, once they they feel like
their sisters, so then it helps you feel like their
dad because they're just year around him so much and
they're very fun.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Could you see yourself doing a love scene?
Speaker 10 (31:07):
I mean not right, I don't think not like I
don't think like, you know, not white lotus, though.
Speaker 3 (31:17):
You know it would be extremely white lotus.
Speaker 10 (31:20):
He would be extremely like Dane. I think you've been
edgier than I will be in a movie.
Speaker 2 (31:24):
So yoh, I know that, But I I Sandler just
he tries to put me in the most awkward positions
and he thinks it's funny, and I'm I'm a fool,
and I go, okay, I'll do that, sand Man. And
then you know, like he had me kill, he had
me kiss. Uh what was her name?
Speaker 3 (31:45):
What was her name? Paul Wendy mcclennon. Uh, yeah, Kobe McClendon.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
And and if it wasn't in the script, Nate and
I show up on set and my my daughter was
working as a runner on the set, and all of
a sudden, Sandler was Danny. Danny. Why don't you kiss
her she was my wife in the movie. Yeah, And
I go, what's it's not in the script?
Speaker 3 (32:08):
Sand Man.
Speaker 2 (32:08):
He goes, I know, Danny, just I want you to
kiss her. So I kiss her. My daughter walks by
and she's mortified. We get done with the scene and
she goes, are you gonna tell mom? I go, yes,
I'm gonna tell mom. And I said to Samman, I said,
what was it? He goes, Danny, it's acting.
Speaker 3 (32:25):
I said, Okay.
Speaker 2 (32:27):
I mean I kept saying, let's do more takes. I mean,
I don't know if that was unprofessional.
Speaker 3 (32:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 10 (32:33):
Yeah, I always would like to say, you go, if
you're like, even if you're not going to kiss, you go,
let's just get it on tape.
Speaker 9 (32:39):
And so we have it and then we'll see what happens. Uh.
Speaker 10 (32:43):
But it's yeah, it's like this day. The first day
I had to kiss Mandy, and I mean we kiss
like you kiss her like a little kiss your wife
when you go goodbye, like you know, it wasn't like
anything big, but my wife of course comes that.
Speaker 9 (32:55):
Day and then you're like that boy, and then it
was funny.
Speaker 10 (33:01):
We went to the premiere and so my wife and
my daughter is sitting with us today and then they
kiss on uh yeah, shows the kiss in the movie.
And then my wife, my daughter leans over to my
wife and she goes, you're jealous.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
I had I used tongue though in my scene that
was that was probably unperfuved.
Speaker 3 (33:24):
Yeah, methid, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (33:26):
Yeah, Daniel, Daniel day Lewis Patrick, that's me. Yeah, all right, so,
uh the bread Winner, big movie star, Nate Barghetsi and uh,
it's open today and he's encouraging the rate. Uh so,
so he has a good weekend where he can exhale
and he can be very proud. And you can see
him on the road as well. Knoxville, Birmingham, Savannah, Greensboro,
(33:50):
Fort Worth, Houston, Austin, Phoenix, San Diego, San Jose. He'll
come to your backyard, He'll he'll perform anywhere.
Speaker 11 (33:56):
That's I expect you to be at all those shows too.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
Oh are you going to go to Tahoe again this year?
Speaker 9 (34:03):
I am a young go be there. Yeah, yeah, all right,
I'll see tollow.
Speaker 3 (34:08):
Good luck this weekend, dude.
Speaker 9 (34:11):
I appreciate it, man, thanks for having me as always.
Speaker 11 (34:13):
I love you guys.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
That's Nate Morgetzi he's a big deal.
