that that's not discussed as much. But she is trying.
She tries to get like she's a trash talker. She
tries to get into people's heads as well. And and
she has her way of going about doing things. But
that does not And in this instance of what Jonas

is bringing up, they are it's become.

I don't think that it's just black players that are
jacking her ass up. It's white players, do I mean

I'm not Caitlyn Clark thing, to be honest. I don't
know that it falls into the racial category. I think
that might have came out by now if it was
racially speaking. Now Whitlock takes it down that lane. What

Whitlock will tell you that he'll let let him know
how he feels about it in that direction. But I
just think that this is a girl that people are there.
They don't feel like she should get the attention that
she gets and be praised the way that she's praised.

That's ultimately what this comes down to is the WNB
has been in existence for a long time and having
to find this rocket star, you know, this rocket ship
of a you know, talent and branding and everything from
her days that i IOWA playing you know basketball there
now it's to the WNBA, and it's created so much

more attention and focused and I can understand why there's
so many past great players who are you know, frustrated
by it, who are most mostly jealous if we're being
honest about it, and people who feel like they've you know,
built this league up to a certain point before she
got there and they never got this attention.

They never got those dudes. I would just generally.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Say this because we've talked about this in regards to
the comparison between Caitlin Clark and Steph Curry, like she
is essentially the female version of Steph Curry, where when
Steph Curry came along, his game was relatable. You know,
I remember loving to watch Vince Carter because he was
a high flying, best dunker, you know, basically made it
(05:49):
impossible for anyone who went up against him in a
dunk contest to have much of a shot to beat him,
and it was must see TV because he was doing
things that no one else really could do. And then
you pass along to a guy like Steph Curry and
he's a player that, well, yeah, no one's gonna be
able to shoot with the consistency that he does from
the logo or from half quarter, from you know, way
(06:11):
outside the three point line, and so him doing that
is obviously like a goal. It's something that everyone tries
to aspire to be. But one thing they can all
try to be is that, because not everyone's gonna be
able to tall enough the dunk or have the hops
to dunk everything else. And then Caitlyn Clark's kind of
come along and been like that female version of that, right,

And that's one of the things that I feel like,
you know, maybe it's because she she's not as skilled
in some other apart departments, or she's not as as
big as you know, a talented as some of the others,
but the reality is, no one watched women's basketball the
same way they have now with Caitlyn Clark because she's
doing stuff that we've never seen before. Show me past
(06:52):
the past, history of wyna BA players pulling up from
the range to hit threes like she does.

You can't fight.

No one's doing that stuff when she was doing in college,
Like that's what made it so attractive, that's what made it.
People go so crazy about it because she was doing
on a consistent basis and was successful doing it. And
so that's to me where it's like, all right, Like
I can understand the hype around it. I can understand that,
you know, the or everything she's created, but I don't

understand how the WNBA doesn't embrace this, and it feels
like they ostracize her in a manner that forces her
to have to like defend herself every time you hear
a story or you look at what's happening out there.
I mean, the officiating is the officiating. Look that the
officiating isn't great in regardless of any professional league. So
as far as the physicality to the game and how
that goes, that's on the officials. You know, they have

to do a better job of being able to protect
a lot of the players out there so things don't
get out of hand.

And if they are targeting her.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Because she's a smaller player and they feel like, this
is the way you can get her head, This is
the way you can force ort of have a bad
shooting night. That scheme, that's tactics, that's just a reality
of how things are going to go. And by the way,
that's not just basketball, that's any sport. So I look
at it and just say, like, it doesn't make any
sense to me that you have the shooting star that
comes into your league and instead of embracing her, instead

of getting behind it, you then kind of put her
off out on an island, or she almost has to
be a villain to some or it feels like that
as opposed to her being the hero to so many
others that watch her. But maybe that's the point. Maybe
it's the fact that because she's polarizing to some of
their own players in the WNBA, that it and maybe
(08:36):
even polarizing some of the fans out there that allows
us to create more attention. Because as good as the
w NBA players have been in the past, it's never
created this sort of discourse.

They just come across. The w NBA in general just
come across as such a nickel and dime, just like
weak league, like poorly run. It just it makes it
hard for me to want to sit and keep up
and pay attention.

Sophie Cunningham seems.

To be the only one who's just sort of embraced
sort of everything that comes along with Caitlin Clark and
just being all right, I mean, my star is going
to rise because of all this, like the finger pointing meme,
all that stuff. It's just like you got something there
that you could build around, and instead you're trying to
tear it down. And I do think that some of
the outrage the way she's treated is.

Is a bit overblown.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
I mean, this is you know, physical basketball, hard fouls, whatnot.
But I also don't I also think that they have
not done enough to build it up and promote it
in a way to where people are going to be like,
oh yeah, I want to pay attention. I want to
I want to follow along, I want to watch this,
I want to see I'm a casual, but get me interested. Instead,
it's turned into racial discussions and all the other things

that come along with it. I just think people are
over it, man. I think just think they're tired of it.

I just don't think the talent level is high enough
to not just make it about basketball. Like, if you
could just make it, if you could have just made
it about basketball, that would be what they make it about.
That's what the polarizing storylines would be, the headlines would be.
This is clearly a reach to maintain some attention and

some relevancy. She's not only driving the league as as
a figure that can shoot the ball the way that
she does, but she's also driving the narrative in the
league for attention in terms of how she's being treatment
her treatment of it. It's kind of funny that the
biggest storyline is a young white woman being for all

intentsive purposes, discriminated against in her field of work. That's right,
like the irony, It's just it's interesting.

But now you're not Brady and I feel on the show.

Yeah, the up top up, Yeah, I just you know

about to say something really interesting.

some people like to tiptoe around it.

I mean it's a it's a real topic, right, I mean,
it's one of the top topics that are out there,
is racial equality and harmonious ways of going about doing things.
I mean, it exists, and there's probably some racial tones
to this that are connected to this, and I mean
there's no getting around that. But again, it ultimately comes

down to playing the games. Getting through the games. You know,
people point out what ref's doing, what they don't do,
coaches included, all the time. You know, people point out
what players do all the time. Kaitlin Clark just happens
to be the most polarizing figure that's ever been a
part of the w NBA. And it's I gotta say

it's not because of how good she is. I know,
we keep throwing out there how good she is. If
we were to say greatest basketball player in women's league
of all time, she's not even probably in the top
five of the greatest that you would ever say has
played in the WNBA. And I think that's just reality,

maybe not even top ten. I mean some would say
Sheryl swoops. Some people say Sheryl Miller is like the
greatest basketball player of all time ever in the history
of the game period.

There's the Lisa Leslie's of the world.

There's like Witherspoon, like, there are some really really amazing players,
Sue Bird.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
I don't know how far you go with that one,
but you know, to Razzie Stacey Dale's. But I don't
know how far you go with Stacey Dale's.

I'll just say though there have been some some really
really really deserving talent wise players. I mean most would
probably say Sheryl Swoops was the Michael Jordan like. I
hear the comparisons. Oh, she's like Caitlin is like the
Michael Jordan of the w NBA.

No, she's not.

She's just the first of her kind in the w
n B A, which is she can hoop well whatever.
That the way she shoots, really, I mean that's more
of a Steph Curry. Yeah, yeah, more of a Steph
Curry the way she shoots. But I've heard, I've heard
comparisons to her to Michael Jordan's. She's not comparable to

didn't need enough to.

Win and unestly go that long back hungrier the next year.
Hell yeah, that's a it's an amazing story. But do

that that's not discussed as much. But she is trying.
She tries to get like she's a trash talker. She
tries to get into people's heads as well. And and
she has her way of going about doing things. But

I don't think that it's just black players that are

know that it falls into the racial category. I think
that might have came out by now if it was
racially speaking. Now Whitlock takes it down that lane. What

Whitlock will tell you that he'll let let him know
how he feels about it in that direction. But I
just think that this is a girl that people are there.
They don't feel like she should get the attention that
she gets and be praised the way that she's praised.

That's ultimately what this comes down to is the WNB
has been in existence for a long time and having
to find this rocket star, you know, this rocket ship
of a you know, talent and branding and everything from
her days that i IOWA playing you know basketball there
now it's to the WNBA, and it's created so much

more attention and focused and I can understand why there's
so many past great players who are you know, frustrated
by it, who are most mostly jealous if we're being
honest about it, and people who feel like they've you know,
built this league up to a certain point before she
got there and they never got this attention.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
They never got those dudes. I would just generally.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Say this because we've talked about this in regards to
the comparison between Caitlin Clark and Steph Curry, like she
is essentially the female version of Steph Curry, where when
Steph Curry came along, his game was relatable. You know,
I remember loving to watch Vince Carter because he was
a high flying, best dunker, you know, basically made it
(05:49):
impossible for anyone who went up against him in a
dunk contest to have much of a shot to beat him,
and it was must see TV because he was doing
things that no one else really could do. And then
you pass along to a guy like Steph Curry and
he's a player that, well, yeah, no one's gonna be
able to shoot with the consistency that he does from
the logo or from half quarter, from you know, way
(06:11):
outside the three point line, and so him doing that
is obviously like a goal. It's something that everyone tries
to aspire to be. But one thing they can all
try to be is that, because not everyone's gonna be
able to tall enough the dunk or have the hops
to dunk everything else. And then Caitlyn Clark's kind of
come along and been like that female version of that, right,
(06:32):
And that's one of the things that I feel like,
you know, maybe it's because she she's not as skilled
in some other apart departments, or she's not as as
big as you know, a talented as some of the others,
but the reality is, no one watched women's basketball the
same way they have now with Caitlyn Clark because she's
doing stuff that we've never seen before. Show me past
(06:52):
the past, history of wyna BA players pulling up from
the range to hit threes like she does.
Speaker 1 (06:59):
You can't fight.
Speaker 3 (07:00):
No one's doing that stuff when she was doing in college,
Like that's what made it so attractive, that's what made it.
People go so crazy about it because she was doing
on a consistent basis and was successful doing it. And
so that's to me where it's like, all right, Like
I can understand the hype around it. I can understand that,
you know, the or everything she's created, but I don't

understand how the WNBA doesn't embrace this, and it feels
like they ostracize her in a manner that forces her
to have to like defend herself every time you hear
a story or you look at what's happening out there.
I mean, the officiating is the officiating. Look that the
officiating isn't great in regardless of any professional league. So
as far as the physicality to the game and how
that goes, that's on the officials. You know, they have

to do a better job of being able to protect
a lot of the players out there so things don't
get out of hand.

And if they are targeting her.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Because she's a smaller player and they feel like, this
is the way you can get her head, This is
the way you can force ort of have a bad
shooting night. That scheme, that's tactics, that's just a reality
of how things are going to go. And by the way,
that's not just basketball, that's any sport. So I look
at it and just say, like, it doesn't make any
sense to me that you have the shooting star that
comes into your league and instead of embracing her, instead
(08:14):
of getting behind it, you then kind of put her
off out on an island, or she almost has to
be a villain to some or it feels like that
as opposed to her being the hero to so many
others that watch her. But maybe that's the point. Maybe
it's the fact that because she's polarizing to some of
their own players in the WNBA, that it and maybe
(08:36):
even polarizing some of the fans out there that allows
us to create more attention. Because as good as the
w NBA players have been in the past, it's never
created this sort of discourse.

They just come across. The w NBA in general just
come across as such a nickel and dime, just like
weak league, like poorly run. It just it makes it
hard for me to want to sit and keep up
and pay attention.

Sophie Cunningham seems.

To be the only one who's just sort of embraced
sort of everything that comes along with Caitlin Clark and
just being all right, I mean, my star is going
to rise because of all this, like the finger pointing meme,
all that stuff. It's just like you got something there
that you could build around, and instead you're trying to
tear it down. And I do think that some of
the outrage the way she's treated is.

Is a bit overblown.
Speaker 2 (09:31):
I mean, this is you know, physical basketball, hard fouls, whatnot.
But I also don't I also think that they have
not done enough to build it up and promote it
in a way to where people are going to be like,
oh yeah, I want to pay attention. I want to
I want to follow along, I want to watch this,
I want to see I'm a casual, but get me interested. Instead,
it's turned into racial discussions and all the other things
(09:54):
that come along with it. I just think people are
over it, man. I think just think they're tired of it.

I just don't think the talent level is high enough
to not just make it about basketball. Like, if you
could just make it, if you could have just made
it about basketball, that would be what they make it about.
That's what the polarizing storylines would be, the headlines would be.
This is clearly a reach to maintain some attention and

some relevancy. She's not only driving the league as as
a figure that can shoot the ball the way that
she does, but she's also driving the narrative in the
league for attention in terms of how she's being treatment
her treatment of it. It's kind of funny that the
biggest storyline is a young white woman being for all

intentsive purposes, discriminated against in her field of work. That's right,
like the irony, It's just it's interesting.

Yeah, the up top up, Yeah, I just you know

is racial equality and harmonious ways of going about doing things.
I mean, it exists, and there's probably some racial tones

there's no getting around that. But again, it ultimately comes

down to playing the games. Getting through the games. You know,
people point out what ref's doing, what they don't do,
coaches included, all the time. You know, people point out
what players do all the time. Kaitlin Clark just happens
to be the most polarizing figure that's ever been a
part of the w NBA. And it's I gotta say

it's not because of how good she is. I know,
we keep throwing out there how good she is. If
we were to say greatest basketball player in women's league
of all time, she's not even probably in the top
five of the greatest that you would ever say has
played in the WNBA. And I think that's just reality,

maybe not even top ten. I mean some would say
Sheryl swoops. Some people say Sheryl Miller is like the
greatest basketball player of all time ever in the history
of the game period.

There's the Lisa Leslie's of the world.

There's like Witherspoon, like, there are some really really amazing players,
Sue Bird.

I don't know how far you go with that one,

know how far you go with Stacey Dale's.

I'll just say though there have been some some really
really really deserving talent wise players. I mean most would
probably say Sheryl Swoops was the Michael Jordan like. I
hear the comparisons. Oh, she's like Caitlin is like the
Michael Jordan of the w NBA.

She's just the first of her kind in the w
n B A, which is she can hoop well whatever.
That the way she shoots, really, I mean that's more
of a Steph Curry. Yeah, yeah, more of a Steph

comparisons to her to Michael Jordan's. She's not comparable to

are guilty of this because you can be proud of
where your heritage is from, your ethnicity of course, and

your grandma was from another land, if your grandma had

sort of the situation we happen to be in as Americans.

riding with They had us riding with Steve Young and

him on my walls. So awkward. Yeah, it was so awkward,

but so awesome. And you know, I want people to
know we take that stuff or we're very fortunate we
take we're not We not take it for granted. So
doubt you don't take it for granted like Lebron James. No,
we don't. We're going to talk about him plenty. But
we know why. As Danny g said, we know the
Mexican hot sauce that made it happen last night, the
secret Mexican hot sauce. Mexican fans the night before the

outside Ecuador's hotel just making noise, like can you play

We've talked about how many hot dogs you eat, and
we in the other day we tried to put in perspective,
what's your wreck to get how many in ten minutes.

Time seventy six? We were wondering, like the average guy
that has a pretty good appetite that when he's with
his buddies he could eat a lot ten minutes. Is
ten hot dogs in ten minutes even preposterous? Or is
that realistic for like a regular guy with a good appetite.
Speaker 6 (47:19):
Most well, yeah, it's doable for almost anybody. I think
women can do it.
Speaker 7 (47:24):
It's uh not that like women should do less Like
I think anybody should be able to do ten hot
dogs in ten minutes.
Speaker 6 (47:30):
I uh yeah, it's not that hard.
Speaker 7 (47:32):
It's like we were just so used to eating so
casually and we have. If you eat with a little
bit of a sense of urgency, if you had a
real job where you only get a certain time time to.
Speaker 6 (47:43):
Eat, you you can eat. You can put down some
food in ten minutes.
Speaker 1 (47:47):
Yeah, I thought I thought ten and ten seem pretty
sand there. When does it get impressive way, like, wow,
twenty is like where where's the number where people start
to go ooh?
Speaker 6 (47:55):
Twenty twenty is where you start. Yeah, that's the real
dogs they got.
Speaker 7 (47:59):
They got some dog get them dog like a joke,
Like you gotta like a dog. You got you go
to attack the food. You gotta be a little primal
in order to get to twenty.
Speaker 1 (48:09):
Joey does it? Did it take a take time to
get used to like dipping the bun in water? Because
I've I've done the whole I wonder what this is
like in the minute I dipped, I tried it, I
dipped the hot dog in the BT. I'm like, look,
they like the soggi bun. Do you ever get used
to soggy buns? Yeah?

It took forever. Yeah, I'm not a psycho.

I don't.

It would No, No, I really tried not to do it.
But it makes sense when you really start looking at it.
It takes the air out of the bond. The hot
water this I'm usually like really warm water, so it helps.
It helps everything relax, helps your muscle relax and gets
the food to start just digesting quickly.
Speaker 1 (48:45):
Hey Joey, of course I don't want to bring up
the downtimes in your career, because most of it has
been kick ass and you're the champion. But what happened
when you no no, I don't no no no, But
like what happens when you lost? Like was it one
of those a's where you're like, you know, that just
wasn't my day because most of the time you dominated.
Speaker 7 (49:06):
Bad couple of months, well, the year before I got engaged,
I was engaged and I was supposed to get married
in June. So I was like, I wasn't having the
best year, and uh I went into the fourth of July.
Speaker 6 (49:19):
I uh yeah, we.

Ended up calling off the engagement and calling the wedding,
and uh, my head wasn't in the right place.
Speaker 1 (49:26):
So it was more it was it mental preparation or
both in that In that case, it was, you know.
Speaker 6 (49:31):
There was preparation. I was getting complacent.
Speaker 7 (49:34):
I uh and and you know, you know that's those
are lamb excueses. The truth is Matt Stoney was hungrier.
He ate more than me that did that day, and
uh he's an awesome eater. And I should have if
I wanted to win I that that year. I I
didn't need enough to.
Speaker 1 (49:52):
Win and unestly go that long back hungrier the next year.
Hell yeah, that's a it's an amazing story. But do
you still dwell on on that a little bit? Like,
damn it, Matt Stony, even though you're giving him as props. Now,
is there a part of you there? Are you just? Hey,
it was his year.
Speaker 7 (50:09):
It's it's it's not even that sorry, Like I know,
good things came out of it. I like, I went
back to the table, went back to the drawing board
and came back super hungry.

Like for years and years I had him crossed the
seventy mark.

And as soon as I came back after I lost,
the next year, I went about seventy hot dogs for
the first time ever. So losing, yeah, making mistakes and uh,
it's far life and learning from him and coming back
better from him, as that's what we all try to do.

That being said, who's your biggest competition tomorrow? Or do
you not even look at it that way? How does
that work for you?
Speaker 7 (50:49):
I mean my competition as an actual competitor. Uh, there's
there's there's Pat Pat Bordoletti. He's a great competitor.

Speaker 7 (51:00):
It's me versus numbers. Me versus the weather, me versus
the dogs. I'm trying to get, trying to me versus
old old man father time. I'm getting older, so I
want to get It'd be great to get a record
at forty two.

I hit that seventy six dog mark. But we'll see,
we'll see if I got it in me.
Speaker 1 (51:20):
Yeah, Joey, that's it's it's wild to think like Lebron James.
He's playing one more year. By the way, do you
have any thoughts of where Lebron James ends up? He
says he's open to to anywhere.

Yeah, come on, really, he wants to go back to Cleveland.

He has to say that he'll go anywhere, but he
really wants to finish in Cleveland, be a mentor and
and and I feel like there's he has a connection

more than one more year because he's he's still playing

Have you been training and eating in the heat to
acclimate and how much more difficult is it for you

Yeah, I actually I went to Florida.

I did one practice in Florida and it was really
really hot and sticky, and numbers went down a little bit,
But I was really happy with how I performed. And
I feel like it's highly unlikely it's going to help.
It could hurt a little bit, but it's gonna if

All I remember really is like thinking that the people
who give hot dogs they bumped into me really hard,

him by the neck a little bit and he fell
