Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to The Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Jacob Mizorowski, the other Miz, the Brewers pitcher, and he,
of course, will be the Cy Young winner. Do you
have permission from the original Miz to use the nickname
The Miz, Jacob?

Speaker 3 (00:16):
No, I believe I do not. You know, there was
a whole thing on another show that he was a
little upset about.

Speaker 4 (00:23):
Really? Have you met him?

Speaker 3 (00:26):
I have not, no.

Speaker 4 (00:28):
Okay. I have to line that.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
Would you be okay if I lined something like that up,
that you met The Miz?

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Yeah, 100%. Yeah, it'd be awesome. Okay.

Speaker 4 (00:38):
When did you become a wrestling fan?

Speaker 3 (00:40):
Honestly, probably this year. I probably got into it. I
really haven't been into wrestling, and then all this happened,
and actually this Sunday or Monday, I went to RAW
here in Milwaukee, so it was fun.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Could you see yourself getting in the ring?

Speaker 3 (01:01):
Maybe in a little while, you know, not right now
in my career, but, you know, after I'm done, okay, sure,
let's do it.

Speaker 4 (01:09):
Do you have a signature move? You've got to have
one of those, right?

Speaker 3 (01:12):
I don't even know what you would want to do.
I mean, I don't think right now, no, I don't
have one.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
Okay, we can work on that.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
The first time you threw 100 miles an hour, what
do you remember about that?

Speaker 3 (01:28):
I was in junior college. Honestly, we were at the
Grand Junction, the College World Series, and I turned around
and the radar gun had three digits and the one
didn't even pop up and it just popped up double zero.
I was like, I'm either throwing really slow or I'm
throwing really fast. But I picked the latter of it.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
I know that we focus on that, but you're a pitcher.
You're not a thrower. So how do you fight, sort
of don't look at me as one-dimensional, that all I
do is throw 100 miles an hour?

Speaker 3 (02:03):
Yeah, I mean, I think the biggest thing is commanding
the zone. A lot of guys can throw 100, but
not a lot of them can locate 100. It's a
different medium.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
What was your welcome to the big leagues moment, good
or bad?

Speaker 3 (02:19):
It was bad. It was my first time going into
Citi Field and, you know, kind of got hit around
a little bit. And then all of a sudden Soto
walks up and, you know, I leave one over the
middle and hits a grand slam off me. So that
was the first one of my career. And it's kind
of like, oh, shit, here we go.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
But how do you recover from– like you're all alone
on the mound when that happens. Like you can't hide.
What is that feeling like when it goes bad?

Speaker 3 (02:51):
You know, honestly, it feels like shit. You know, you
feel so alone. You feel like you let your teammates down.
I think that's the worst part. I don't think– you know,
I don't care about the outside noise. That's not the
part that I get down on myself. You know, I'm
down on myself because– There was eight guys behind me
that were trying to, you know, cheer me on and

(03:12):
do their job to help me succeed. And then I
let them down by giving up X, Y, or Z.
So it's one of those things.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
What's a home run sound like?

Speaker 5 (03:23):
Oh, gosh.

Speaker 3 (03:25):
Yeah, I know this is going to get clipped. It
kind of sounds like a.
It's not like a high pitch, but it's like a
solid thud. It's kind of like, I don't know, that's
the best way to describe it. It sounds different. If
you get it off the end and it's a pop-up,
it kind of sounds hollow, but when I hit it good,

(03:46):
it sounds like nothing else. It sounds all its own.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
But you know it.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Oh, yeah, 100%.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
Greg Maddux told me that, I said, you know, what
does a home run sound like? He said two cars crashing.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Yes, I like that, yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:05):
But would you rather give up.

Speaker 2 (04:06):
A bomb that goes 450 or one that trickles over
the wall?

Speaker 3 (04:10):
Oh, a bomb, 100%. I want him to earn that.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
You got any problem if bad flip, they take their
time getting around the bases?

Speaker 6 (04:20):
No.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
No, I think, honestly, I think it's the other way.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
I think it's an honor that they're doing that. You know,
if they ran around really quick and were in and out,
then I feel like they would be showing me up.
The other way around, it's like, okay, I finally got
to this guy. Here's my time to celebrate. You know,
have fun.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
And I got to believe when the ball hits the mitt,
when you're throwing that hard, like there's a certain sound
that you have that I don't know if certain ballparks
are going to be quieter and you could hear that
thud and the message it might send to the opposing dugout.
Do you ever factor that in of, yeah, there's more
where that came from?

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Honestly, not really. You know, our ballpark and like... We're
pretty loud when it starts a game, so you don't
really hear anything, or I'm not hearing it. So, you know, honestly,
I don't hear much with the mitt. Maybe in the, like,
bullpen or something, you hear it like a whack. So, no, nothing.

Speaker 4 (05:25):
How many fingers have you broken on your catchers?

Speaker 3 (05:30):
I think last year, I think William had a messed
up thumb. And that might be the first or second
one I've messed up. If that was me, you know,
William's a crazy guy. And so you never know what
he could have done.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Who gets your attention the most when they come to
the plate? I'm not going to say makes you nervous,
but yeah, like you can see them in the on
deck circle.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Um, honestly, this is like, it sounds weird, but like
those like slappy, slappy hitters, like, uh, you know, I mean, uh,
Suzuki's not a slappy hitter, but, like, he's one of those, like,
contact guys that has power. And, like, those guys kind
of get me going. Like, you see that, and you're like, okay,

(06:16):
here we go. This is a true battle. And Luis Urias,
there's a good one. Yeah. Like, a guy like that,
where you're looking, they're just looking to put a ball
in play. And so, you know, those guys get me
going more than, like, the big power guys.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
But the guys who, now it's okay to strike out.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
You got a kid with the White Sox who struck
out 227 times, Jacob.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
Yeah yeah and it's uh.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
That's got to be good news for you I'm not.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
Mad about it yeah that's no I yeah I don't
I mean you have Schwarber up there too right he
was uh he struck out a lot um but no
it's a it's a different ballgame all they want is
a homer and they don't really care they'll take the
side effect of the strikeouts.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
What about Otani.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Yeah, he's a fun at-bat, especially in Dodger Stadium when
they play his, oh gosh, what's his block out? It's
like Justin Timberlake, I can't remember what it is, but
it sounds like it's right in the back of your head.
Those speakers are bumping, and all of a sudden you
hear that, and the crowd goes, ooh! That's a different bat, too.

Speaker 4 (07:23):
Let me see. Ray, do you have that walkout song
for Otani?

Speaker 5 (07:26):
I'm seeing it's Feeling Good by Michael Buble.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
Buble, thank you. Yes, there you go. Yeah, it's different.
It's different. It's not a normal walkout, but definitely you
hear it and you're like, okay, there's Otani. Let's go.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Give me the walkout song that bothers you.

Speaker 3 (07:44):
Honestly, I don't really hear any of them. The only
ballpark I hear them in is Dodger Stadium because that
speaker in center field is so loud. So it's like
most of them, I'm so locked in, I don't even
hear anything.

Speaker 2 (07:59):
What is the hardest part of pitching?

Speaker 3 (08:04):
Like we were talking about earlier, I think just the...
Not really being alone, but being one of the sole...
effectors of a game I think that's like if either
way like it could go really good or really bad
and like it's still on you like you were the
lead culprit.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Of this who was your pitcher that you looked up
to idolize maybe had their poster on your wall.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Um Adam Wainwright you know coming from KC like obviously
other side of the state um But no, that dude
was dominant and, you know, had Yachty back there, too.
Those two were a nasty combo.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
And what team did you grow up a fan of?

Speaker 3 (08:47):
The Royals.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
You know, wrong.

Speaker 3 (08:49):
Era for a Royals fan. I mean, we did get
the one win, but, you know, on the other side
of the state, you had so much success. So it
was hard to watch, but it was really, really cool
to watch.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
Did you hate the Cardinals growing up?

Speaker 3 (09:01):
I don't know about hate, but definitely disliked.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Who's your rival now?

Speaker 3 (09:07):
I feel like it has to be the Cubs. Like,
you know, it's like that series when they come up
here or we go down there is always fun. Those
fans get into it and, you know, it's a competitive series.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
Your thoughts on Pete Crow Armstrong for MVP?

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Well-deserved. You know, the dude's crazy athletic out there in
center field and then, you know, has amazing power behind
him at the bat. So it's fun.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
Can you understand, like, hitters, how much do you want
to hit?

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Not at all. I'm good. Really? I'm good, yes.

Speaker 4 (09:45):
Even in high school, were you a great athlete?

Speaker 3 (09:48):
Yeah, I mean, I batted a little bit and then
started getting college recruiting offers and all that and kind
of just, you know, fizzled out. So, stuck to pitching. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
Other sports?

Speaker 3 (10:02):
I actually stopped playing other sports my sophomore year. So, yeah,
I ran cross country. I did some other sports here
and there and kind of fizzled out of everything and
chose baseball.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
How hard were you throwing in high school?

Speaker 3 (10:18):
Um... Like senior year, I bet I was in the
mid to upper nines. Oh, okay.

Speaker 2 (10:24):
All right, build me the perfect pitcher. So I'll take
your fastball.

Speaker 6 (10:30):
Sure.

Speaker 3 (10:31):
Then curveball? I like my slider better, but we could
go curveball. Curveball, you could go– I mean– fire Clayton
Kershaw can be from the left side. Can I throw
away a projection? Just throw one pitch from the other side.

Speaker 4 (10:51):
Um, nobody can replicate that curve ball.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Can they? No, no, no. It's a one of a
kind pitch. You know, I think the closest one honestly is, uh,
a guy with us, Aaron Ashby. That's a, just cause
of where the release is from. It's such a special
like pitch like that.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
What about slider?

Speaker 3 (11:11):
Um, Honestly, I want to go with my slider on
my heater because I'd go Kim Slitler's fastball in my slider.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
Oh, okay.

Speaker 2 (11:20):
So you're going to give Slitler, which we saw last night,
his fastball is better than yours?

Speaker 3 (11:27):
I want to know better, but I like his metrically.

Speaker 5 (11:30):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (11:31):
What about changeup?

Speaker 3 (11:33):
Oh, I mean, let's go Devin Williams. You know, that's
a nasty changeup. You could also go Henderson. He's a
pretty gross one, but let's go Devin. Let's go the airbender.

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Are there any stupid conversations on the mound? Because we
never know what's going on. You guys put the glove
over your face. Have you ever had a funny one
out there?

Speaker 3 (11:53):
Yeah, there's been a few times. William's come up to
me and just been like, just off the cuff, just random. Like,
I'll give up a base hit and he'll just be
giving me time or something. And, you know, he comes
up and he's just like, I'm all worried about the game.
And all of a sudden, William comes up and is like, hey,
what are you doing later tonight for dinner? Like, you

(12:15):
want to go to dinner somewhere? It's like, dude, this
is a fifth inning. Like, we got one out. We
got to figure out how to get out of this. Like,
dude doesn't care. He's not worried about it. So it's fun.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
How often do you change signs during a game?

Speaker 3 (12:30):
I mean, before pitch come, like, I mean, yeah, you'd
do it probably two or three times in a game.
You know, guys were getting on base a lot, you know,
especially at second base. So now with Pitchcom, never. You know,
Will is back there pushing buttons.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
Could you just do it without him?

Speaker 3 (12:51):
What do you mean? Without Pitchcom? Yeah, that you just pitch,
you just call your own game. No, no, I would
overthink it and I'd be a mental wreck out there
on the mound because I'm not already. No, it would
be a different ballgame. I couldn't do it. I need
William back there to guide me through.

Speaker 4 (13:12):
Do you apologize to batters if you hit them?

Speaker 3 (13:15):
No. It depends. Obviously, if you accidentally ride one up
and in and it catches a guy pretty high, sure,
I'll apologize for that. Send over a nice bottle of
bourbon or do something to apologize. Wait, wait, wait.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
You'll buy somebody a bottle of liquor if you accidentally
hit them?

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Yeah, and if I hit a guy in the head
or something, yeah, that's like, hey, I'm sorry, this is
on me, like, I hope we don't have no hard feelings.
It wasn't on purpose. If I'm getting a guy in
an arm, shoulder... whatever, you know, but I think I
draw the line at like about neck up, you know,

(13:58):
you kind of, you kind of, you kind of feel bad.
You're like, ah, shit.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
Like, but if you're buzzing the tower, then I'm going
to have a problem with you.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
If I'm the opposing team. Yeah, exactly.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
And I'm trying to mitigate that and be like, Hey, look,
I didn't.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
Do this on purpose, but you bought somebody a bottle
of alcohol.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
I did. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It was, uh, it was
a guy with the Rockies. Why am I blanking on
his name? I did it. It was this year. I accidentally, uh,
a heater got away from me and I, I, he
kind of ducked. It clipped him in the back of
the head. It clipped the helmet. Um, but no, I
felt awful. I was, uh, And so after the game, yeah,

(14:39):
I ran into the clubhouse. I was like, hey, can
we send a bottle over and apologize?

Speaker 4 (14:43):
Tyler Freeman?

Speaker 3 (14:44):
There you go, yes. So it was one of the
situations where I, like, it was getting late in the game.
I was getting tired, and the ball just slipped. And,
you know, I felt bad. Just never want to do
that to a guy. And, you know, that's my way
of saying sorry. Like, it wasn't on purpose. Hope we're
all good.

Speaker 4 (15:01):
98-mile-an-hour fastball.

Speaker 3 (15:03):
Yeah, not fun. Damn.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
Have you been hit by 100 miles?

Speaker 3 (15:08):
No, no, and I plan to never be hit by 100.

Speaker 4 (15:13):
Unless it's a comebacker.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Yeah, I did get hit in the shin. It was Suzuki, actually,
that hit a little one-hopper into my shin at 110,
so that was fun.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
Great to talk to you. Congrats for your success, and
good luck in the postseason.

Speaker 3 (15:28):
Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 4 (15:29):
All right, that's Jacob Mizorowski. He's the other Miz.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
Be sure to catch the live edition of the Dan
Patrick Show weekdays at 9 a.m. Eastern, 6 a.m. Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 7 (15:43):
Stu Gatz here, pleased to be hosting college football with
Stu Gatz and the Bear.

Speaker 8 (15:47):
We do it two times a week.

Speaker 7 (15:48):
Every Monday, every single Friday throughout the college football season.

Speaker 8 (15:52):
You can expect a little bit of this. Will Stein,
the head.

Speaker 4 (15:55):
Coach at Kentucky, joins us. Open bar at a wedding,
ordering a Shirley Temple. Will or will not?

Speaker 5 (16:00):
No.

Speaker 8 (16:03):
Will not.

Speaker 5 (16:03):
Ketchup on steak.

Speaker 4 (16:05):
Will or will not?

Speaker 5 (16:07):
Will not.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
A little bit of this.

Speaker 7 (16:10):
Rhys Davis, host of College Game Day, is with us now.

Speaker 6 (16:12):
And then I'm going home to the BBC, and they're
saying Jockovich instead of Jokovich.

Speaker 8 (16:18):
Right, because you can't say Jockovich. If you do, you
know the.

Speaker 7 (16:21):
Blowback you're going to get from the American audience.

Speaker 8 (16:23):
And a whole lot of this.

Speaker 7 (16:30):
Listen to college football with Stugatz and the bear on
the I heart radio app, Apple podcast, or wherever.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
You get your podcast.

Speaker 2 (16:42):
JJ, what joining us on the program? What is the
most painful injury you ever had?

Speaker 9 (16:50):
It's a really good question to inspire, you know, such
a respected journalist.

Speaker 5 (16:56):
Um, The one it.

Speaker 9 (16:59):
Wasn't the initial injury that hurt the most, but the
second step that I took hurt the worst. When I
broke my leg and it shattered in a billion pieces,
I didn't know, obviously, that it was shattered. So I
tried to get up and walk off the field and
I took two or three steps and quickly realized that
it was indeed shattered. And that was those two or

(17:21):
three steps were the most painful part.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
But you get that adrenaline going, though, that can carry
a little bit, you know, like Jackson Dart coming off
the field. I mean, you see guys in the moment,
you're like, no, I think I'm OK. No, I'm not OK.

Speaker 9 (17:35):
No, we all think we're Superman and like, no problem. Like,
we'll pop it back into place. And there's some things
you just don't pop back into place.

Speaker 2 (17:43):
Was it worth it when you look back on all
the injuries that and how your body is going to
be 20 years from now?

Speaker 5 (17:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (17:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (17:51):
I mean, there's a reason that I did it. I
loved it. I mean, we don't have to beat around
it here. My family lives an incredible, beautiful life because
of everything.

Speaker 5 (18:01):
I have some unbelievable memories. I wouldn't have met my wife.
I wouldn't have my two beautiful boys.

Speaker 9 (18:06):
There's so many different things that this game has given me.
Would I have maybe done some things a little differently
in taking a little more time on some than others?

Speaker 5 (18:15):
Yes.

Speaker 9 (18:16):
But Overall, would I change anything? And do I regret
playing football? Absolutely not.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
I complimented you on Monday. I thought you rose to
the crowd noise, the atmosphere like you were in the moment.
It felt like that's as close as you could get
to playing. And I commend you for being able to
translate that to us, the audience.

Speaker 5 (18:40):
Thank you. I appreciate that very much.

Speaker 9 (18:42):
And I fully agree with you that this is as
close as you can get to playing in terms of
the adrenaline, the play-to-play, snap-to-snap, having to be on your
toes and reacting in real time. And the atmosphere was that.
The second half of that game, that stadium, the atmosphere
was electric. And so we were just living in the moment.

(19:05):
And then you get a massive fourth and one stop
on the goal line. Barham stops Henry. Cowboys go down
the field. And then everything that transpired after that, I
really don't think anybody in that whole stadium sat down
for the rest of the game after that point.

Speaker 5 (19:19):
And it was just a blast.

Speaker 4 (19:21):
What does it feel like to tackle Derrick Henry?

Speaker 5 (19:24):
Depends on how far away he started.

Speaker 9 (19:30):
Um, if he, if you get him, if you get
him where you got to him closer than he got
to you, it's not that bad. If, uh, if, if
you were far away and he was coming from far away,
it is no fun whatsoever. Uh, and also if you catch,
so like, I'm a guy who like, I liked, I'm
a big Gator roll tackler. I'm not like, I don't,
see any reason to square people up in the hole.

(19:52):
Like it's all about getting the guy on the ground.
So I was a big gator roller. So I always
try and put my head directly in front of your
thigh board and like right at the top of your knee,
the lower quad. And sometimes that technique can put you
directly in the path of a kneecap straight to the
side of the head. And I've, I've caught a few
of 22s kneecaps straight to the side of the head.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Not fun, but Do you see these guys going up top?
They try to take on these guys up top. I
don't understand that logic.

Speaker 9 (20:22):
Well, I mean, you see it a lot on the
edge and outside because it's the DBs. And so there's
two options you can do, really, because you're not going
to tackle him just straight up. So they are trying
to either go low and wipe out his legs, but
he's a hurdler. He'll jump over the top of you
or he'll just step over the top of you because
he's so big. So then you go high and try
to like almost hold him up so that the cavalry

(20:44):
comes or truthfully, I don't know, like 100 185-pound DB
is not taking him down up over the shoulder pads.

Speaker 5 (20:51):
And that's where the stiff arms come into play.

Speaker 4 (20:53):
He's J.J.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
Waddy.

Speaker 4 (20:55):
He called the Ravens Cowboys in Rio.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
And then he's got the Broncos and the 49ers coming
up on Sunday at 425 Eastern with Jim Nance. I'm
trying to figure out the Niners. Like, they've done everything
they're supposed to do, but it doesn't... I don't know
if we include them in the formidable teams, the really
good teams.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
Should we?

Speaker 5 (21:18):
San Francisco 49ers?

Speaker 3 (21:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (21:20):
Yes, yes, we should. They are in the best teams.

Speaker 9 (21:24):
I think the injury is the same thing every single year, unfortunately,
right now, which we can take that to the transformer
conversation if we want. But if they can stay healthy,
the way that they scheme things up and the players
that they have, absolutely.

Speaker 5 (21:39):
They are certainly one of the best teams in the league.

Speaker 4 (21:41):
Do you believe in that transformer talk?

Speaker 5 (21:46):
I don't know. No, I don't.

Speaker 9 (21:48):
But I mean, like I can't help, but like look
at it and laugh a little bit every time it,
you know, the injury report pops up or all these
things just seem to happen over and over again. I mean,
I'm not, I'm not going to dismiss it completely because
I'm a guy who will try anything in any to
see if there's an advantage. So I guess maybe I

(22:09):
just talked myself in a full circle. Maybe I do
a little bit.

Speaker 4 (22:12):
Well, you're going to be out there.

Speaker 5 (22:15):
No, I have the Chiefs Raiders this weekend.

Speaker 8 (22:17):
Yeah, I screwed that up.

Speaker 5 (22:20):
We got switched.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
Oh, boy.

Speaker 8 (22:25):
Every story I was looking at had them doing the
Broncos-Niners game, and something must have changed quickly.

Speaker 5 (22:29):
Back to the dermatologist. Send him back.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
Did you ask JJ?

Speaker 8 (22:35):
I meant to ask him. That is totally my bad.
I meant to ask him because now it's Kevin Harlan
and Trent Green have the Broncos-Niners game. And I should
have double-checked during the break.

Speaker 4 (22:43):
What kind of punishment should I give Todd, JJ?

Speaker 5 (22:46):
Pie to the face from me.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
Oh, okay.

Speaker 5 (22:49):
At any time. You don't know when it's coming. We've
got to take it all the way back. We've got
to take it all the way back to the old days.

Speaker 8 (22:55):
They were initially scheduled to do the Bronco Nightingale.

Speaker 4 (22:57):
But they're not doing Bronco.

Speaker 8 (22:59):
No, I don't have a tie into the CBS executives
that at the last minute changed the game.

Speaker 4 (23:02):
Oh, here we go. They didn't give me a heads up.

Speaker 8 (23:04):
Just wanted to let you know, I know you're having J.J.
Watt on, and it's actually not doing good.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
Didn't you hate having a teammate who always had an
excuse for everything?

Speaker 9 (23:13):
I was going with it because I was like, all right,
he's going 49ers.

Speaker 5 (23:16):
Let's talk 49ers here.

Speaker 9 (23:17):
I was going to roll with you.

Speaker 4 (23:20):
So what is your game this weekend?

Speaker 5 (23:23):
I have the Raiders and the Chiefs. 3-0, 3-0. First
time ever meeting undefeated.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
How real are the Raiders?

Speaker 9 (23:30):
This is where we find out. I think that the
takeaways on defense.

Speaker 5 (23:34):
Have been massive. I mean, nine and three games.

Speaker 9 (23:38):
Is tough to sustain, but it reminds me a lot
of the Bears last year. And for the longest time,
you're like, can they keep this going?

Speaker 5 (23:45):
Can they keep it?

Speaker 9 (23:45):
And they did for a very long time, but it
did cover up some things. I think that that I
think the defense is strong. I do think the takeaways
are huge. I think that Kirk Cousins is playing phenomenally
well in Clint's offense, three touchdowns, three straight games. You
do have to, and I know people don't like this,
but it's just the facts of the situation. The opponents

(24:07):
they've played are one and eight. And they now go
on a stretch where they have the hardest schedule in
football from weeks 4 to 11. So right now is
where we find out what this is about. Divisional opponent,
the Chiefs in your building. Haven't beat them too many
times over the years, but there have been some phenomenal games.

Speaker 5 (24:26):
Can't wait to see what.

Speaker 9 (24:27):
This looks like on sunday i'm a personal big clint
kubiak fan i mean his dad was one of my
favorite coaches i've ever had and i love the way
he runs that offense i think kirk fits it perfectly
so we'll see but the chiefs also that offense and
what they're doing now with kenneth and the play action
game and the rollout game and what he's opened up
by having a dominant running game they're very difficult to stop.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
The ram's gonna be okay.

Speaker 5 (24:52):
Yeah Yeah.

Speaker 9 (24:53):
I mean, with the talent that they have, with Sean
McVay figuring it out, when Miles comes back and is
able to do it, they'll bring me just fine.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
I'm not sure about the Steelers and I'm not sure
about the Browns, so it's a perfect matchup tonight. But
Pittsburgh's favored by two and a half. Let's start with Cleveland.
I looked at their schedule. They got the Jets and
the Titans and the Ravens. If they win tonight, they
could conceivably go on a run to be five and two.

Speaker 4 (25:21):
And maybe solve their quarterback situation.

Speaker 9 (25:24):
And I could be wrong on this, but I believe
there's some weird thing about in Cleveland on Thursday nights,
the Browns are very successful against the Steelers. There is
just something about that. So it will be. I mean,
Munkin's done a good job of kind of putting the
us against the world. I mean, I guess the world
is kind of also just handed that to them on

(25:46):
a platter to say this you know the Browns is
the Browns all of that conversation and they've done a
good job of it he's kind of running a little
bit of that Ravens offense and they have Fanon they
have Junkins in the backfield they do they do a
good job tonight will be a good test I mean
the Steelers you kind of look at them and you
see obviously trade.

Speaker 5 (26:03):
Away Joey Porter Jr.

Speaker 9 (26:05):
And you go for picks in the future so I However,
that was wasn't going to get resolved. One of the
better players on your team is now no longer on
your team and you didn't replace him with a like
for like player. So what does that exactly say about
your you know what the plan is right now?

Speaker 4 (26:22):
What do you think the plan is?

Speaker 9 (26:25):
I mean, you have Aaron Rodgers, who's very clearly said
he's in the final season of his career. And so
you would imagine you're trying to go out there and
win football games and try and win a Super Bowl.
And you bring in Mike McCarthy because you don't like
going nine and eight or whatever it is every single year.

Speaker 5 (26:41):
And so.

Speaker 9 (26:44):
I think the situation probably played itself into this where
they weren't going to come to a resolution. So you
have to get what you can get and find a way.
But I don't know.

Speaker 5 (26:53):
It's middle land.

Speaker 9 (26:54):
It's kind of middle land still to this day where
it's like, is this an all-in operation to go win
right now, or are you trying to do this mini-rebuild?

Speaker 5 (27:02):
I'm not 100% sure.

Speaker 2 (27:03):
Yeah, it feels like this is a rebuild. Do you
think your brother, any chance, gets traded?

Speaker 5 (27:08):
I would highly doubt that.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Yeah?

Speaker 9 (27:13):
I mean, I have no idea, but I mean— That's
kind of the thing. You have Aaron Rodgers, who's in
the last year. You have Cam Hayward, who's obviously up
there in Hall of Famer.

Speaker 5 (27:22):
You have TJ. You have Jalen Ramsey.

Speaker 9 (27:24):
You have these guys, and are you making a run
or are you not making a run?

Speaker 3 (27:30):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
The Cowboys getting Joey Porter Jr., who's great, but what
did you see from the Cowboys when you saw them
against the Ravens?

Speaker 9 (27:40):
Yeah, I mean, they have a massive amount of injuries
on the back end, so they need help there. They
still have trouble stopping the run game. They actually at
times did a really good job against Derrick Henry, but
also at times, especially with Lamar adding his legs into
the mix, Justice Hill, they struggle there. The back end
is just decimated, and it's more the safety position than

(28:02):
the corner position, but now the corner position in that
last game.

Speaker 5 (28:05):
In Brazil did start to go down significantly.

Speaker 9 (28:08):
So I know right now the conversation is a lot
about the Christian Parker defense and does Joey Porter Jr.
fit into that because he's a man corner and he's
going to be a.

Speaker 5 (28:16):
Guy you want manned up.

Speaker 9 (28:18):
They still run man coverage about the league average, so
it's not like he's going to be doing something unbelievable,
but it will be interesting to watch if they decide
to use him more in a single-up situation and have
everybody else play off of that.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
I know you got to react in the moment, you know,
The rest of us have to, like we can react
in the.

Speaker 4 (28:36):
Moment, but we're at home.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
You're on the air and you're watching the Cowboys goal
line stand. You're going down the other end. Dak has
Pickens wide open. I'm looking at clock management. All of
a sudden, you know, it's a field goal. Now, all
of a sudden, you put it in the end zone
instead of like, how do you how do you compartmentalize

(28:58):
that to go? Let me give you analysis here instead
of just watching it like, you know, normal fan would.

Speaker 9 (29:05):
Well, it's one of those things where you're seeing it
happen and there's part of you that's thinking like.

Speaker 5 (29:09):
All right.

Speaker 9 (29:10):
So they were just completely content to settle for a
tie here and take this thing to overtime as opposed
to going for the jugular and trying to win right now.
Because it's similar to what they did at the end
of the first half. And that was really the first
thing that came into my mind was at the end
of the first half, they started to just let the
clock go down and they really almost settled for a
field goal at the end of the first half. And
so I thought that was weird at the time. And

(29:32):
then you sync that up with the end of the
game where they just seem to kind of settle But
then they also rushed to get the timeout when there's
zero reason to rush to get the timeout and then kick.

Speaker 5 (29:43):
The touchback, which also saves the time. It was interesting.
They've said it.

Speaker 9 (29:46):
I mean, it's kind of piling on now after the fact.

Speaker 5 (29:49):
But they have said, you know, we managed that one wrong.

Speaker 9 (29:52):
And I'm with everybody, with Dak, with Shadi, with everybody
who said, like, we overcoached that. And he threw the
ball away before he even saw that George was open.
I mean, that ball was being let go. It just
felt like they were content to settle. And in this league,
when you're trying to win a Super Bowl, and I
would imagine when Jerry Jones is your owner, I don't
think he wants to settle.

Speaker 5 (30:12):
He wants to win.

Speaker 4 (30:13):
I got to spice up your background there behind you.

Speaker 5 (30:17):
What do we got?

Speaker 4 (30:18):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (30:19):
Yeah, I mean, there's something.

Speaker 3 (30:21):
I don't know.

Speaker 9 (30:21):
My son must have taken something from right here.

Speaker 5 (30:25):
We've got an empty space.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
Where are the defensive player of the year trophies?

Speaker 5 (30:29):
They're up here.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
Oh, you got to bring them down.

Speaker 9 (30:31):
Nah, see, like you just get the taste. You just
get a touch of the bottoms. And then if somebody's like, oh,
one of those, you're like, oh, no big deal.

Speaker 5 (30:39):
They're up here. You got the wife. You got my
dad of the year. Oh, congratulations.

Speaker 4 (30:44):
You got dad of the year.

Speaker 6 (30:47):
Thanks, guys.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Awesome.

Speaker 5 (30:48):
No big deal.

Speaker 9 (30:49):
If you guys ever heard of Augusta National Golf Course,
no big deal. Just played there. Shot a 103. Basically,
nothing might pass me.

Speaker 2 (30:58):
It doesn't matter what you shoot there. You can have
a bad round, but not a bad day at Augusta.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
No.

Speaker 5 (31:04):
Can I see a shot of Paulie quick?

Speaker 9 (31:06):
Because the shirt he was wearing today, when I flipped
this on and I saw Paulie's shirt, to me, it
looked like he might have been going dancing in a nightclub.

Speaker 5 (31:14):
After the show. Thank you.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
Paulie's on this kick of unbuttoning a button that you
probably don't normally do it when you're married with a
couple of kids.

Speaker 4 (31:22):
But Paul is going for a look here.

Speaker 10 (31:25):
Yeah, I don't want to go school teacher buttoned up,
but I don't have a middle ground, and I have
no chest hair whatsoever, JJ.

Speaker 9 (31:32):
Yeah, but, I mean, you look like you could head
directly out to Miami after this to a nice night.

Speaker 5 (31:39):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (31:39):
A little bottle service. Weirdly, I'm taking that as a compliment. What, Todd?

Speaker 8 (31:43):
I just have a quick question.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
Why didn't you ask the question when you saw JJ before?

Speaker 5 (31:48):
You lost speaking privileges, Todd. I mean, I don't know
what happened here.

Speaker 8 (31:52):
It's relating to that. No, I want to know why
CBS demoted him and Nance from the Bronco Niners game
to the Chiefs Raiders game. Because that to.

Speaker 4 (31:59):
Me is demotion.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
Did you get demoted from Broncos Niners to Chiefs Raiders?

Speaker 9 (32:05):
I mean, no, it's 3-0 versus 3-0, and it's a
divisional matchup.

Speaker 5 (32:10):
It's Patrick Mahomes. It's the Raiders. It's an unbelievable matchup, Todd.

Speaker 9 (32:15):
So don't try and spin this just because you got
yourself into a blender, all right?

Speaker 5 (32:21):
Don't take the rest of us down.

Speaker 8 (32:22):
I think Kevin Harlan and Trent Green should be during
the Raider Chief game, and you should be doing the
Bronco Niner game with that.

Speaker 5 (32:27):
I bet you do. I bet you do. And have
you in a lot better position right now.

Speaker 4 (32:31):
Yes, Paul. And last thing, JJ, I'll send you one
of these shirts, medium, of course. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (32:36):
Thank you. Thank you.

Speaker 9 (32:37):
I'm more of a Dan Flashes guy, so you can
send me some, you know.

Speaker 4 (32:42):
Do you purposely order shirts a little smaller?

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Me? Yeah.

Speaker 9 (32:47):
I'm in this crazy in-between spot right now, Dan. Since
I'm playing, I lost maybe 10 pounds.

Speaker 4 (32:54):
What do you weigh?

Speaker 9 (32:56):
Right now, I weigh 271, 272. I played most of
my career around 290. My last couple of years were
more around 280, 282, and now I'm 270.

Speaker 5 (33:05):
I am directly between an XL and a 2X. The
problem is 2X is super wide in the body. It's
like a lifeboat cover over me.

Speaker 9 (33:16):
And then XL gets a little snug and the arms
start to get a little too tight. So every brand
is different. I'm in a blender every time I'm trying
to order something online.

Speaker 4 (33:24):
Maybe we drop 10 pounds.

Speaker 9 (33:28):
I've considered like I'm, I will over time, but I,
it's this weird place to be in where you're like,
I still kind of want to be, you know, muscular
and bigger, but I also know that over time.

Speaker 5 (33:39):
Dropping weight is the right call.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (33:43):
I've already dropped some. I feel slim right now.

Speaker 4 (33:46):
Yes, Paul. You want to look like a football player,
even if you don't play football.

Speaker 9 (33:50):
Yeah, and I know over time that has to go.
I think you got Joe Thomas on, speaking of a
guy who looks good. Guy looks great. He's got his
beef farm. He's phenomenal.

Speaker 4 (33:59):
Yeah, but I can't.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
Imagine trying to keep up that weight. Like how much,
you know, the calories.

Speaker 5 (34:05):
But I like food. Like I like food. And so
now I am. I'm dropping.

Speaker 9 (34:09):
I eat so much less food than I used to.
And it is literally difficult to train yourself to do that.
I mean, there's plenty of people that know that. But
like now I only eat three meals a day and
I used to eat six. And so it's just like
there's three. 30 to 45 minute sessions during the day
where I used to be at the kitchen table. And
now I'm not. It's almost instinct just to walk in

(34:32):
there and grab something.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
Is the training table always open to players?

Speaker 5 (34:39):
Always as in like nighttime?

Speaker 3 (34:41):
No, no.

Speaker 2 (34:42):
If you go in in the morning or you're there
in the afternoon and then late in the afternoon, there's
always food for you.

Speaker 9 (34:51):
There will be definitely breakfast and lunch times, and then
they take those away. But there are always snacks, peanut
butter and jellies, drinks. There's something you can eat at
all times, yes.

Speaker 4 (35:01):
Yes, Marvin.

Speaker 1 (35:02):
Hey, JJ, do you want to keep the weight on
so you can still be the intimidating dad at school?

Speaker 5 (35:07):
Like, you know what? JJ, what?

Speaker 4 (35:08):
That's their dad.

Speaker 5 (35:09):
He's still a monster. Yes.

Speaker 9 (35:12):
When I go to soccer practice or we hit, you know,
whenever we get into baseball here, which I don't know
if I even want to go down that road with this.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (35:21):
Anybody who thinks like they're going to say something you
want to know. Oh, that's the one team that he
really can't. You can't argue with that squad. They've got
somebody over there.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
OK, but if you do, you're with the baseball watching
your son or daughter watch from the outfield. Yeah, that's
what I did, because I never wanted anybody to think
I had any impact on the manager or my son
or any of that. I stayed out in center field
and watch the game.

Speaker 3 (35:50):
OK.

Speaker 9 (35:51):
I've talked to many former athletes about the coach your kid,
not coach your kid conversation, because I think it's a
very good conversation. And I do think it's extremely important
to have other voices in your kid's life, teaching them skills, discipline,
and have them not listen to you. But I also,
on the other hand, sometimes you sit there and you
watch a practice and you're like, you're not instilling anything

(36:12):
in them. You're not instilling discipline. You're not instilling, you're
not teaching. Like I got to get out there and
take control of this. And that's a, that's, that's a battle.
I don't, I also don't think some of the other
kids and parents are ready for it.

Speaker 4 (36:24):
So I'm going to, you can't make them cry.

Speaker 5 (36:27):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (36:28):
If you're going to go out there and yell at them.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
All right.

Speaker 5 (36:32):
Are you sure?

Speaker 2 (36:32):
Are you sure? Well, you know, when they're four years
old or five, no. I would say don't make them cry.

Speaker 9 (36:38):
We're still three, so I probably should leave that.

Speaker 5 (36:41):
I probably should.

Speaker 4 (36:43):
Safe travels, once again, J.J. Watt.

Speaker 5 (36:46):
Where am I going? Where am I traveling to?

Speaker 2 (36:48):
I think you're going to Las Vegas for the Raiders
and the Chiefs.

Speaker 8 (36:53):
We all get demoted every once in a while.

Speaker 9 (36:54):
He's going to be doing the Raiders-Chiefs and not Broncos-Niners,
which is obviously.

Speaker 5 (36:58):
The game of the week.

Speaker 3 (36:59):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (37:00):
Always a blast, guys.

Speaker 4 (37:01):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
Thank you.

Speaker 4 (37:01):
That's J.J.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
Watt.

Speaker 1 (37:02):

Speaker 2 (37:14):
We now have moved on to the National League Divisional Series.
The Dodgers know they're facing the Braves, who closed out
the Phillies last night.

Speaker 4 (37:24):
More on the matchups coming up a little bit later on.

Speaker 2 (37:26):
My Cleveland Browns hold off the Steelers 27-24. I said
it yesterday. I'll remind you again today. They got by
the Steelers. You got the Jets, Titans, Ravens coming up.

Speaker 4 (37:39):
You could conceivably be 5-2 after seven games.

Speaker 2 (37:45):
Are they, as I said yesterday, are they a competitor
or are they a contender?

Speaker 4 (37:51):
How far are you willing to go?

Speaker 2 (37:54):
Paulie's already said, I'll take a pie to the face.
Browns won't make the playoffs. What a buzzkill you are today.

Speaker 10 (38:01):
I'm not trying to buzzkill the Browns because their fans
have suffered for a long time. They've been outscored on
the seasons. I think they got by last night. I
think they're a nice story. They've got some really nice
young players. I think their quarterback, we've seen his best work.
Last night felt like two C students in a math contest.
They were battling each other, but neither of them are

(38:23):
good at math.

Speaker 3 (38:25):
Okay.

Speaker 10 (38:25):
You know what I'm saying? It was a really good
game because they're both above average-ish teams, and they battled.
But there's not a Super Bowl quarterback on the field
last night.

Speaker 4 (38:35):
The Browns' young core.

Speaker 2 (38:38):
Spencer Fano, the receivers, you got Casey Concepcion, Denzel Boston,
Mason Graham. He got hurt last night. Carson Swessinger, defensive
rookie of the year last year. Quinshawn Junkins had 90
yards from scrimmage last night, over 800 yards last year rushing.
And Harold Fannin had six touchdowns as a rookie. They

(39:00):
have a nucleus here. And all Deshaun Watson has to
do is don't make mistakes. Now, he got away with
a couple of things last night, but they won the game.
And I'll go back to what I said about Pittsburgh.
You got to kind of figure out where you are
because you're in no man's land.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
You're an older team. You don't have a quarterback for
next year.

Speaker 2 (39:23):
And I don't have any problem with Aaron Rodgers and
Mike McCarthy, you know, barking at each other. You know,
it's like an old married couple. you know they've been
doing it for years big deal it this happens a
lot more than you think uh And, you know, we'll
next hour talk to the former Cowboy coach, Jason Garrett,
about having those conversations. But here is Mike McCarthy, Steelers

(39:46):
head coach, on the exchange that was caught on TV
last time.

Speaker 6 (39:51):
Communication sometimes is not the best choice of words, but
everybody's competing on the field. And I think, you know, um,
but set on the field, the way I grew up
in this game, you know, usually stays on the field.
That's not the case today. I understand that. But, um, yeah,
any negative communication on my part, I wish I wouldn't
use those words.

Speaker 4 (40:11):
I get it in the moment.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
Frustration. Rogers wants to play, call the play. And then
Mike McCarthy, you know, basically calls him out there. Um,
This is Aaron Rodgers. Aaron does this, but he's a perfectionist.
I mean, he, you know, Dan Marino is one of
the nicest guys you ever meet. But his teammates would
tell you he was not a nice guy, but he

(40:35):
wanted greatness.

Speaker 4 (40:37):
He demanded greatness. And they all do.

Speaker 2 (40:40):
I don't like when you have these outbursts, when you
are going to single out somebody, maybe embarrass them. But
I don't think Mike McCarthy and Aaron Rodgers are worried
about this today. They got other things to worry about. Like,
can you get your receivers open? Give the Browns credit.
You know, they play, you know, some good defense there.
And Kirk Herbstreit even talked about this. You have those

(41:02):
coverage sacks where the coverage is so good, there's no
separation there. I'm not big on there. I love Mount Washington.
I love going to the line of scrimmage knowing I
got a mismatch there. And I should have that with
DK Metcalf. He played well last night, but I never
would have brought him in for $ 33 million a year.

Speaker 4 (41:20):
Michael Pittman Jr., the third.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
He's got seven catches this year for 89 yards. That's
a concern. But, you know, you got Jalen Warren getting
him back. But, you know, this is that division now.
It feels like everybody is competitive. We know the Ravens are.
The Bengals are. Steelers just beat the Ravens. And then

(41:45):
you beat the Bengals. You did that without Joey Porter Jr.
By the way, Joey Porter, how about a round of
applause coming back from that back injury?

Speaker 3 (41:55):
Miracle.

Speaker 4 (41:57):
Somebody must have laid their hands on him. He wasn't
able to play. Bad back. And all of a sudden,
he might be playing this weekend for the Cowboys. I
think he got better on the flight to Dallas.

Speaker 8 (42:07):
How'd he do it?

Speaker 2 (42:08):
Maybe like those special chairs, vibrating chairs. Maybe he had
a flex steel pulse, and then he was able to just, oh, man.

Speaker 4 (42:16):
My back is better.

Speaker 2 (42:18):
And I'm going to be able, maybe, I thought he
might have hurt his back with all the money that
he might be getting, but he hadn't gotten that contract yet.
But he's going to be playing apparently against the Texans.
I find that game fascinating.

Speaker 10 (42:30):
I do.

Speaker 4 (42:31):
The Texans are winless. The Raiders are undefeated.

Speaker 3 (42:34):
Who would have thought?

Speaker 4 (42:36):
And now, the Cowboys, after an embarrassing loss. Ooh, this
is survival. Yes, Dylan?

Speaker 11 (42:44):
We may have another double or even triple trap.

Speaker 4 (42:46):
Game on our hands with that one, too, Dan.

Speaker 2 (42:48):
I couldn't handle the double, triple trap with Ole Miss.

Speaker 4 (42:53):
And Florida last week. Well, it's not for the faint
of heart. Okay, all right.

Speaker 11 (42:57):
The Texans are giving three points, which if you just
look at that, you would think, all right, flip that around.

Speaker 4 (43:02):
Cowboys should probably be favored by three. Seems odd, right? Yes,
but that's Vegas.

Speaker 11 (43:13):
I know.

Speaker 2 (43:14):
Vegas doesn't have any fandom here. They don't go, hey,
I'm going to go with the Cowboys. That's my favorite team.

Speaker 4 (43:20):
They're like, uh.

Speaker 2 (43:21):
We want to get the most money on both sides here.
How are we going to do that? And it feels
like you'll go, well, the Cowboys are better than the Texans.
That's the trap.

Speaker 4 (43:30):
The initial one. But then there's a double trap. Seems
too obvious, doesn't it? Yes, Paul.

Speaker 10 (43:37):
I also have a double, possible triple trap game to
present to you.

Speaker 3 (43:40):
Dang.

Speaker 10 (43:41):
The Eagles laid an egg on Monday Night Football. Hence,
you should load up on them because they're going to
right the ship. But they're facing the Rams, who laid
an egg in September last So is that a double
or triple trap game? Because I would bet Eagles. I'm
going single trap.

Speaker 4 (43:56):
But the Rams are banged up.

Speaker 8 (43:58):
Double trap.

Speaker 4 (43:59):
So I don't know. Is that a double trapper?

Speaker 5 (44:02):
Could be a triple, Dan.

Speaker 10 (44:04):
Which means you bet on your original thought.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (44:07):
What's that beef jerky trapper?

Speaker 5 (44:10):
Old trapper?

Speaker 4 (44:10):
Old trapper.

Speaker 2 (44:11):
Maybe old trapper could sponsor the double trap, single trap.

Speaker 5 (44:17):
Or triple.

Speaker 3 (44:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (44:18):
And maybe we get that guy to come in. With
his outfit on, handing out some old trapper.

Speaker 5 (44:24):
The Paul Bunyan guy?

Speaker 4 (44:25):
Yeah, yeah. Hey, Todd.

Speaker 8 (44:29):
How are you?

Speaker 2 (44:31):
I just want to make sure we're okay today because
yesterday we didn't do well.

Speaker 8 (44:37):
We're only 11 minutes in. Was I supposed to say
something specific?

Speaker 3 (44:39):
No, no, no.

Speaker 4 (44:40):
I just, yeah, I've heard you start right away.

Speaker 8 (44:44):
Some days I start right away. I haven't found my
spot yet. I didn't want to talk just to talk, shockingly.

Speaker 1 (44:49):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (44:49):
But people, we're curious what happened final hour yesterday. We
had an issue with J.J. Watt's broadcasting schedule, and he
brought it to your attention. And we lost you in
the final hour. So just want to make sure. It's
a meet Friday.

Speaker 4 (45:05):
It's sunny. It's beautiful. It's fall. It's you and me.

Speaker 8 (45:09):
It's a lovely day, and I am very present.

Speaker 3 (45:11):
Good.

Speaker 4 (45:12):
And accounted for.

Speaker 3 (45:13):
Yes, Dylan.

Speaker 11 (45:14):
I'm going to have to agree with Todd, though. To me,
Broncos-Niners seems like a more enticing matchup than Chiefs-Raiders.

Speaker 2 (45:21):
It does, but that tells you the power of the
Kansas City Chiefs. That's why they're going to Las Vegas.
It's like the Cowboys. No matter who the Cowboys play,
you want to broadcast the Cowboys games. That's why these
networks fall all over. You can have a better– there
are better teams, obviously. It's always– how many times can

(45:42):
we get the Cowboys?

Speaker 3 (45:44):
Yes, Dylan.

Speaker 11 (45:45):
Yeah, I saw yesterday the Ravens-Cowboys game in Rio was
the most watched international game of all time, and Ravens
social media was blasting that everywhere.

Speaker 1 (45:54):
And I was like, guys, let's be real here.

Speaker 11 (45:55):
Who is really– Carrying the load.

Speaker 4 (45:58):
They were part of it.

Speaker 2 (45:59):
Maybe the curiosity of seeing Lamar Jackson, but that was
all about the Dallas Cowboys. By the way, the commanders
and the Colts, they are, I think, lowering the ticket
prices because not everybody in London is excited to see that.

Speaker 3 (46:14):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (46:14):
They didn't want to import that game. But that's a
9.30 start, by the way, on Sunday. All right. 877-3DP-SHOW.
Email address dp at danpatrick.com. Twitter handle at dpshow. Which
poll question we're going to go with then?

Speaker 11 (46:28):
Well, I actually put up your poll question, which you
mentioned already. The Browns, are they contenders or competitors?

Speaker 3 (46:35):
Okay.

Speaker 11 (46:37):
And we also talked about this earlier. Whose looming extension
is the murkiest right now? Now, these are not necessarily
mean they're all imminent, but they're kind of now or
on the horizon.

Speaker 3 (46:48):
Okay.

Speaker 11 (46:48):
We brought up Drake May, Puka Nakua, CJ Stroud, other perhaps.

Speaker 4 (46:55):
Bryce Young. Yeah, that feels less murky.

Speaker 2 (47:00):
Yeah, you know, this will be a great showcase for
him on Sunday night, football night in America, the Panthers
against the Lions. Now, you might say, boy, that's not
the normal game for Sunday night. I'm intrigued by this.
I am. You got Jameer Gibbs, who might be the
best running back in the game. Jared Goff hasn't thrown
an interception. I think he's got eight touchdowns, no picks.

(47:22):
And Bryce Young, I think, is the highest rated quarterback
right now in the NFL. I find this kind of interesting.
I mean, it's not the most must-watch game of the weekend,
but the most must-play-well game of the weekend for Bryce
Young because everybody's going to have an opinion on Bryce Young,

(47:42):
Jameer Gibbs, maybe Dan Campbell, the Lions defense on Monday.

Speaker 4 (47:47):
Yes, Marvin?

Speaker 5 (47:48):
Wait, most must-play-well?

Speaker 4 (47:50):
Isn't that the Drake May Award? Ooh, yes.

Speaker 5 (47:54):
Yes, you're right.

Speaker 2 (47:55):
But that's not a standalone game. This is a standalone game.
That's when you have to play well. Drake May against Buffalo.
Is Drake May benchable if he doesn't play well? Now,
I know you got Tommy Cutlets there, but this feels

(48:16):
like if this is mechanical, that's one thing. If it's mental,
that's something completely different. If it's an injury... Can you
sit him down and just say, look, the shoulder is
a problem here. Everybody keeps saying it's not. Okay, then
what is it? Oh, well, you know, he doesn't have A.J.

Speaker 4 (48:36):
Brown.

Speaker 2 (48:37):
He didn't have A.J. Brown last year. But this against Buffalo,
although it feels like this is a weird game. I
know Buffalo's favored by seven. But Patriots sneak in and
sneak out with a win?

Speaker 4 (48:55):
Question mark?
