Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
It's our two on this Wednesday, Dan and the Dan
Huge Dan Patrick Show come on in stay a while.
People are calling up with their favorite Seaton memories. Friday
will be his last day on the show. I don't
remember this, but Paulie brought it up and some people
on social media as well. There are scenes in the
movie This Is Spinal Tap where the drummer keeps dying,
(00:28):
and people have likened that to the chair next to
Fritzie in the back row. Dat Mclevin's gone, Now Seaton's gone.
Yes see, I've seen that a lot. Actually is people
wondering if this chair is cursed or if it's just
Todd driving people out. Mmmm, maybe it's a combo. I'm
not going to answer that. Yeah, Dylan is going to
be sitting in the chair. Yeah for a while after Friday.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
I said, I'm not gonna name you permanently there.
Speaker 4 (00:55):
I've noticed you saying that a few times, where it's
like for now, yes, for now, say there's an interim tag.
Speaker 2 (01:02):
Oh no, yeah, I would like for him to wear
interim on the back of his jersey. I haven't seen
enough yet. No, no, no, no, I mean love Dylan.
Dylan's fun part of the Gambling podcast and meet Friday Chef.
But you know, I don't know if he's stable enough
to sit in that chair right now. He's out there
(01:23):
in the kitchen whipping up something.
Speaker 5 (01:26):
Yes, Tod Danette and training. What do you do with
the word Dannette. We don't label it anything. It's just
kind of hovering there.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Well, I think when I introduce everybody, you know, when
we start, you know, after seat and leaves, it'll be
Fritzies here and then the interim Dannette, Dylan is here,
Marvin Pauli in the back room. Guys, I think that's
how he'll be. You got to earn this, Okay, yes, point.
Speaker 6 (01:48):
Dan and the Danette feet Dylan. We're not doing that,
are we? How does that work?
Speaker 2 (01:53):
Yeah, I don't know if we're featuring feet Dylan, but yeah,
Dylan will sit in the chair for the time being,
and then we'll see then we you know, they take
off the interim tag all the time with managers and coaches. Yes, ton.
Speaker 5 (02:05):
So people also want to know about the glass partition
and that whole thing. Is that staying? Is that going?
What does Dylan want to do with it? What concerns
does he have about his future?
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Would you like to take down the glass partition? McLevin
demanded that we put that up because you were coughing
all the time, and he did not want your germs.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
There was up to me, I guess I'd probably take
it down, but I can understand concern. No one wants
to get sick or feel like there's germs flying across
the room where you can put your health.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
In grave danger, grave danger, Seaton, has your health been
in grave danger since you've been sitting back there?
Speaker 7 (02:41):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (02:42):
No, it hasn't been in grave danger. Todd has one
of the gnarliest hacking coughs I've ever heard in my
entire life. It's disgusting and it's uncomfortable to sit next to.
That's about ten percent of why I wanted this put
back up. So there's a lot going on over there
throughout the show that it's hard to not like look at,
and so I'd rather I put these scarfs here so
(03:03):
that then I feel like Todd has his spot. I
have my spot. Once I'm gone, You guys are free
to do whatever you would like to.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
Do, But it's one thing to have a glass partition up,
but the scarves look like you don't want to see
Todd accurate. I was gonna ask, what's repulsive about me?
Speaker 5 (03:18):
Other than the hacking cough that I'd love theation. No,
it's if I want to get this going, let's get
it going.
Speaker 4 (03:23):
Yeah, no, I don't want to get it going. It's
not repulsive. You sing to yourself constantly and it gets
very distracting from me. So I just put this up
so that then I could focus on the Show's really
all that it is. I don't know how many times
a day I've heard you know, and it's like, all right, man,
I'm just trying to work over here. I'm gonna put
this up. I didn't realize it would be quite taken
(03:45):
as the glass here was as offensive to Todd. But
you have two and a half days left of it.
Speaker 6 (03:54):
I definitely have my quirks.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
Are you aware of these quirks?
Speaker 6 (03:57):
I sure am. I I've got lots and lots of issues.
Speaker 5 (04:00):
I'm far from perfect.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Okay, But then why would you question then, Mike?
Speaker 6 (04:04):
No, I just wanted to know.
Speaker 5 (04:06):
I wanted to know what the deal was. You know,
there's just there's it seems like there's a lot of reasons,
and there's a lot of disgustingness about what's going on
on my corner. So I'm just I was asking for
a elaboration.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
Okay, there's not.
Speaker 4 (04:17):
It's just you caugh a lot, you get sick, You
get sick a lot, you do and you have a
you have a gnarly cough and you don't cover your mouth,
and so I'd rather not get sick, and so I
put I put this thing up.
Speaker 6 (04:28):
But yes, yes see it has the breaks off. A
couple more days, I'm gonna say it's gonna be fun.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
Can't wait till Friday. I'm sorry. I really didn't want
to bring this up at all. I didn't want to
bring up the glass partition. I didn't want to bring
up any of those things.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
If you're watching on Peacock and NBC Sports Network, you
can see the glass partition.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
Anybody else have anything to add? No about camaraderie and happy,
happy action, fun time.
Speaker 2 (04:53):
I'm not leaving Happy Action fun Time. Yeah what that means?
Speaker 6 (04:57):
That's a movie you've seen time.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Happy Action fun Time.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
I want to live in that land.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Jenna Jamison was in that wasn't I think we say
good morning. If you're watching on Peacock, our streaming partner
and NBC Sports Network, it's a Master's week. It's underway,
and Branda Shamblee joined us last hour. If you miss
any interviews, you can always go back at Danpatrick dot com.
You'd be able to hear everything, including Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred.
(05:24):
He'll join us a little bit later. On Uh, Fernando
Mendoza skipping the draft. Boy, I'd love to know what
those conversations were like or how long those conversations lasted
between Mendoza representatives and the NFL because we're getting really
close to the draft and you don't have the shiny object,
(05:45):
the one shiny object there that you want, and that
is Fernando Mendoza. All RIGHTY eight seven seven three DPS
show email address, DPA, Danpatrick dot com, Twitter handle at
DPS show Seaton Poll question. Did we settle on one
for the first.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
Yeah, we put one up there. Do you if you
were probably very likely going to be the number one
overall pick in the NFL draft, would you attend the
draft or stay home with family and friends? You want
to guess the results on this.
Speaker 2 (06:15):
I would say ninety five percent are going to show
up at the draft. If they are the number one
overall pick, fifty three percent would go to the draft.
What Yes, fifty three percent would go to the draft.
That means, yeah, forty seven would stay home. I think
my family would survive if I wasn't there to celebrate
(06:35):
with them. I can bring them with me and they
can sit in the green. They're not going to have
to wait long before my name is called.
Speaker 3 (06:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
See, I think that the whole family has been involved
in this process up until that point. It isn't just
the one person that plays, it's the whole family.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:52):
So I appreciate people who are like, now, it's more
important than I'm with my family for this moment than
going to Roger Goodell.
Speaker 2 (07:00):
And his mom. What is the condition she has.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
MS?
Speaker 2 (07:05):
I believe, but you know, she was able to go.
The National Title game was in Miami, which is where
the family is from. I don't know if that factors
in with her condition to be able to travel, but
maybe it is. And therefore the rest of the family.
He's going to say, we're going to stay here, and
he's going to stay there and share in the moment yes, Bulle.
Speaker 6 (07:23):
I really wasn't too surprised when I saw it because
Mendoza does not seem traditional in any football sense. He
reminds me of a guy from high school who is
like a four point zero guy, president of the math team,
like four h but he also happens to be the
superstar quarterback. He's I don't know if it's Andrew Luck comparison,
(07:44):
but he feels very cerebral and unique. And even the
other day he announced some partnership with like a workday product.
He's just a very unique character.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Yeah, hey, whatever his reason is, they are his reasons,
and if that's what he wants to do, progative, but
I would I thought you would get ninety five percent
of people be like, hey, my chance, my moment, number
one pick in the draft. I'm going to be there.
You don't have to stay. He's going to join us
next week, I think Monday or Tuesday. We hope to
(08:16):
connect with him. I think Dodgers manager Dave Roberts will
be on the show tomorrow. Is that right too.
Speaker 6 (08:22):
He's also not going to the draft.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
He won't be at the draft. I saw this. I
can ask Dave Roberts about this. Baseball's longest active on
base streak is forty two games. Baseball's longest active scoreless
innings streak among starting pitchers is twenty two point two
innings pitched. Shoeo Tani owns both of those marks right now.
(08:58):
Staut of the Day, Ronch, you buy PENAI America official
trading cards of the program, something has to have. If
he stays healthy, he's going to win the MVP again
because he's got such an advantage of he's pitching. It
almost seems like his mindset is, well, how about I
win to Cy Young too. I saw where the Pirates
(09:20):
they locked up Connor Griffin, the nineteen year old, and
that's where they go, Hey, let's sign him up, sign
him up to a nine year deal and get him early.
By all accounts, he's the real deal. We saw him
in spring training. Ball sounded different coming off his back.
He nineteen playing shortstop. Homer's in his first at bat,
(09:45):
making plays in the field, and you know they gave
him a nine year deal. It makes me wonder about
Paul Skeins. Did the Pirates try to do this with
Paul Skeins where they said, hey, we're going to give
you a nine year deal or like, if I'm Paul'san's agent,
I'd say, no, we're not doing that. But Connor Griffin,
he's nineteen ten year deal, nine year deal, Paul.
Speaker 6 (10:07):
Yeah, I've got it. Reported nine year, one hundred and
forty million dollar deal for the Pirates. And the analysts
say this could end up being a bargain if he
works out for the Pirates, because you're you're buying low,
You're you're locking him in at the that's less than
twenty million a year. If he becomes a multi time
All star, he could be a bargain.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
Yeah, well you could lock him in then you don't
have to worry about, uh, he's going to get too
expensive free agency. But it feels like schemes is no,
I'm playing here, but am I going to sign a
long term deal? Because man, you got the pieces here
to be a really good team or the you know,
(10:48):
the potential is there for a really good team, and
you know you know that it won't last because what
scheme's going to be worth? How much per year?
Speaker 6 (11:00):
Yeah, pauland Connor Griffin makes way more than Paul Skins
right now. Skeens in twenty twenty six, he's gonna make
one point one million dollars. I've had to double check that.
That's nuts.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Michael Malone, the North Carolina head coach. Now he was introduced,
and uh, he explained why he came to North Carolina.
Speaker 8 (11:22):
I didn't come here to be second best. I didn't
come here to lose in the first round of the
ACC tournament.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
You know.
Speaker 8 (11:29):
I came here to win and went out a big level,
went at a high level. And if you're a competitor
and that's what you want, you don't shy away from that.
You don't run from that. You run towards that. And
that's how I'm wired. That's m I DNA and uh,
you know, and our team's gonna, you know, take on
that character as well.
Speaker 2 (11:48):
Did his accent get a little more southern and like
a Carolina you know, it's not like Ryan Kelly. Where
where's Michael Malone from?
Speaker 6 (12:02):
He was born in the story of New York, Dwyn, Okay,
Southern Manhattan, Southern Queen.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
Southern part of Queen, South Queen. Yeah, give me just
a little more of that Michael Malone there.
Speaker 8 (12:11):
I didn't come here to be second best. I didn't
come here to lose in the first round of the
a SEC tournament. You know, I came here to win
and went at a big level, went at a high level.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
All right, all right, I know a lot of people
from Queen's. They don't sound like that.
Speaker 3 (12:25):
Now.
Speaker 2 (12:25):
I did spend time elsewhere, including Denver, but that had
a little a little southern, a little North Carolina, only
a little.
Speaker 3 (12:33):
Yes.
Speaker 6 (12:33):
Paul later in the press conference said he's fixing to
win the.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Uh, I'm gonna have scattered and smothered.
Speaker 5 (12:41):
Yah.
Speaker 2 (12:42):
Yeah, his daughter volleyball player North Carolina. I'm gonna guess
he knows the campus there, But do you know the
environment that you're walking into? That's really the king.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
It's a great job, but your comparison starts eight miles
away in Duke.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
All right.
Speaker 2 (13:06):
A couple of phone calls rich In Athens, Hi, rich
what's on your mind today?
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Hey? Everybody?
Speaker 9 (13:13):
As always sitting here with my puppy dog, Fritzy, watching
the DP Show. A little bit of a bittersweet week
because I love the Masters, but obviously sad about the
Seaton news, but happy for him moving forward, and it's
certainly going to get support from all the DP show fans,
and you know, I read an article about Seaton where
(13:34):
the headline said longtime national radio favorite, and I one
hundred percent agree with that statement. He's been great. But
the main question I have is what will be Seaton's
Meet Friday menu? Because I'm assuming this Friday is going
to be all about him.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
Yes.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
In fact, Dylan said what do you want from Meet Friday?
And Seaton has the opportunity. It's it's is Champions Dinner
like Rory McElroy, and he gets to pick what he
wants for this Meet Friday. Have you decided you don't
have to tell us? Have you decided?
Speaker 6 (14:08):
I did?
Speaker 4 (14:08):
Have submitted the menu?
Speaker 2 (14:10):
Oh you have?
Speaker 4 (14:11):
I did? Yeah, I don't know a day or two ago. Okay,
all right, we'll be maybe last week actually okay, thank yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Man, we'll be surprised with that. Jordan in Wisconsin, Hi, Jordan,
what's on your mind today?
Speaker 3 (14:23):
Hey? DP guys? How you guys doing great? Hey? Can
I do my best? Ko? First, GP, I was just
calling to.
Speaker 10 (14:34):
Say and echoing much of the sentiments that seton Thanks
for everything, and I wish you the best on your
next chapter.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
I never regret to anyone from.
Speaker 10 (14:44):
Making a pivot, but one request if we're going to
do the callback to the doing your Friday music segment.
Could you please create a Spotify list that could be downloaded?
Because my favorite bump or kick or whatever you folks
call it and the radio biz its help is on
the way by rides against Like I think we have
(15:04):
the same taste in music. Could you create a Spotify
list that can download?
Speaker 4 (15:09):
Yeah, definitely, m M. It's a great song, great band.
Speaker 2 (15:12):
And this is a positive here, just so everybody knows.
I mean, it's sad, but it's I have to look
at bigger picture here. Does it hurt the show? Yes?
Does it help the overall Dan Patrick's show brand and
everything we're trying to do.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (15:28):
Does it help Seatan in what he wants to do?
Speaker 3 (15:30):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (15:31):
But this is positive, positive, I keep telling myself it's positive.
It's like, this is a good thing. It's a good thing.
But then in the you know, the now part of this,
it's tough. It's you know, because it's twenty years that
you're staring at somebody, where you're interacting with somebody, your
highs and lows of what's going on in their life.
(15:53):
You know, you know parents' health, your son, and you
know everything you know, there's so much that goes into it.
It's not just what you hear on this show or
see on this show. It's everything that happens five days
a week where we're here in the same room where
we're traveling. We started out in the attic. You know,
I'm asking guys to leave ESPN to go to my
(16:15):
attic where we weren't even on TV. So that sacrifice,
you know, will never be lost on me. And that's
where all of these guys who decided to take a chance,
and so hopefully this pays off for all involved. But
we'll miss it. This is sort of my Friday speech.
(16:35):
I'm working on.
Speaker 6 (16:36):
It, okay, or we can roll it back.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Yeah, yeah, I'm working on Friday speech today. And you know,
not bad, you know, not bad. No notes, no notes whatsoever.
All right, let's take a break, get more phone calls
coming up the end of the NBA regular season Master's
week we hear from Rory McElroy. We'll take a break.
(16:59):

it'll be a bad Lair and of course uh Shay
(17:58):
and Irving they will show up and we'll do our
gambling podcast. Dave Roberts, Dodger manager, will join us on
the program tomorrow. We talked to Brandal Shamblee first hour
talking about Rory McElroy completing the career Grand Slam, and
he was asked this question yesterday.
Speaker 11 (18:17):
Right now that you're in possession of all for I'm
curious if you think one of the four Majors lends
itself in your prime window and maybe beyond to the
most opportunity to win or to be the most productive.
Speaker 2 (18:30):
Is there one that stands out?
Speaker 12 (18:32):
I think this one. I think it's a I think
when you've had the experiences that I've had around here,
good on bad, I think that can stand to you
and you come by, you know, the other major venues,
we don't go, you know, we don't go back to
the same place every year. So I think that is something.
I feel like I'm still young, but I'm very experienced.
(18:54):
You know, I've been doing this for a long time.
This is my eighteenth start. I do feel like I've
got you know, another hopefully ten good shots to this.
Speaker 2 (19:03):
Everything here is a little more predictable, and that's, you know,
the familiarity. That's why it's rare when you get a surprise.
And I was wondering about this, more likely to get
a Cinderella story in March Madness or Cinderella story at
the Masters. And I would say, You've got to be
able to be really good for four days to win
(19:25):
at Augusta, so four consecutive days, whereas Cinderella. You got
to be good one day on a Thursday, then you
got to be really good on that Saturday. Then you
get time, you know almost you know, five or six
days to get ready for your next game. Therefore, it
feels like a Cinderella story in basketball would happen more
(19:47):
so than in golf, because you got to string together
four really good rounds, and your really good rounds have
to be a lot better or better than the other
competitors there. Now it's a smaller field, but that's why
you will always see like Bernard Langer or Freddie Couples
on the first day because they can do it for
one day. You know, Tom Watson, you can do it
(20:09):
for one day, maybe two doing it for four. That's
where you have the great, the good and the great.
There's a big separation there, yes, poem, and.
Speaker 6 (20:19):
If you go back to last year we were discussing it.
I looked at my notes from last year. That was
one of the more rooted for athletes of all time. Collectively,
everybody likes Rory McElroy. You want him to win that major,
but also he spent the past couple of years being
the face counter to the Live Tour and that played
very well with American sports fans.
Speaker 13 (20:39):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
I was talking to somebody yesterday affiliated with golf and
he said, without any you know, prompting, that Rory McElroy
saved the PGA Tour with everything that he was doing
behind the scenes. He didn't bail and he could have
made you know, him and Tiger could have made upwards
of probably a billion dollars, but they stay. Now, these
(21:01):
tournament fields aren't as large as they used to be.
There's more money in there, so the top end golfers
are really going to benefit from this. But this, this
person I was speaking to, said that he thought, in
his opinion, Rory saved the PGA Tour. You haven't had
any big names who have gone to live in what
three years now, and now you've got a couple of
them money to come back, Patrick Reid, Brooks, Koepka. It
(21:26):
feels like it's over. You know, Deshambo might get five
hundred million dollars and I can't blame him if you
want to go play, And yes it's relative obscurity, but
you know that's that's the disappointing part. We don't get
to see him very often.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
You know.
Speaker 2 (21:45):
Cameron Smith used to be a thing. Yeah, he was
one of the best putters on tour. You don't see
like it's accidental. If I if I see the Live
Tour where I tune in and I'll go, oh okay,
and I'll watch John Rahm or Dasham. I mean, there's
still some quality players there. It's just Yeah, the American
public doesn't care. It's not real golf. That's the problem
(22:08):
I have with it. It's not real. It's hey, let's
get together. Remember they were wearing shorts and playing loud music,
and I go, no one cares, Hey, we're we're not
going to play four days. We're only going to play three. Man,
We're crazy. I mean, like nobody cares. Like the DP
World Tour. I watch that, it's real live tour. It's
(22:28):
not great, it's not real. But if you can make
that kind of money, life changing money, all right, I'm
not going to be grudge you. You're the only one
that has to, you know, answer to it.
Speaker 6 (22:38):
Yeah, Paul and the Live Tour caved about six months ago.
They announced, you know, was fifty four holes they're switching
to seventy two hole format for this season, and that
was their hook that they're cool and different, and they caved.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
Yeah, nobody cares, like if I'm watching golf, I want
to watch four rounds of golf. If you said, hey,
you know, PGA Tour is only going to be three days,
and be like, why I want to see Scotti Scheffler
a fourth day. Or by the way, who finished second
last year in the Masters? Forgotten, long forgotten, great Player
(23:15):
Hall of Famer. Oh, by the way, justin Rose.
Speaker 9 (23:23):
Stead of a day stand of a day stand of
a day stand of a day, this is.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
The start of the day. Brought to you by Panni America,
the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show. Something
was going on last night between Golden Sadan and Sacramento,
and I hope the commissioner is looking at that game
because it looked like Sacramento was tanking right in front
of us. It was odd because three minutes to go,
(23:53):
the Sacramento Kings intentionally foul Steph Curry. Steph Curry's one
of the greatest free throw shooters of all time. It's
not like you're fouling Andre Drummond. This is Steph Curry,
no offense. Here is Draymond Green on what Sacramento was
doing at the end of the game.
Speaker 7 (24:13):
Well, I think the playing was made for teams to
not take like that. I think that's the part that
everyone forgets, you know, like the playing came about to
make teams like maybe through twelve or thirteen keep going.
They ain't keep going. They kind of slowed down and
then they hit the brakes. So you know, I saw
(24:34):
a team tonight foul Seth Curry with three minutes to
go in the game for no reason. In the penalty
it ain't working.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
Something was up there.
Speaker 6 (24:48):
I didn't get it.
Speaker 2 (24:49):
They were fouling Seth Curry as well. But I Sacramento's
up one and then you're gonna intentionally foul And I go, wait,
what is what is your philosophy here? What is the
strategy here? But I hope the commissioner looks into that,
because Draymond Green is right. If the play in was
(25:11):
supposed to curb the number of teams that would be
tanking at this point of the year, Hey you might
make the playoffs. Hey you're going to be in the
play in game. You know, granted you don't put a
banner up, but you know you're still competitive. Your fan
base knows you're trying this. I was like, Man, can't
(25:31):
you be a little more clandestine? Why are you so
overt in what you're doing here? Yeah, Paul.
Speaker 6 (25:37):
The worst teams in the league. The Wizards have lost
nine of their last ten. The Utah Jazz have lost
ten of their last ten. Kings have lost seven of
their last ten.
Speaker 2 (25:51):
Pelicans won last night. They beat Utah one fifty six
to one thirty seven. They had ninety points in the paint.
I mean, wow, they had fifty points they scored in
the third quarter, ninety five points in the second half.
(26:14):
That hasn't happened since nineteen seventy. Stat of the day,
Sat of the day, that past stat of the day,
stat of the day?
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Here comes that?
Speaker 6 (26:26):
What stat of the day?
Speaker 3 (26:30):
Man?
Speaker 2 (26:31):
They're putting up points, man, I mean one fifty six
to one thirty seven. Oklahoma City destroyed the Lakers. That's
the third consecutive win by OKC by thirty or more points.
Here's something to keep an eye on. Guess who has
(26:51):
two mid first round picks in the upcoming NBA draft.
You're ok, yes, Now, I would pair him together, maybe
move up and maybe maybe even add another first round pick.
Go up and get somebody who could be you know,
(27:12):
maybe a potential starter on that team. But they got
draft picks, they got youth guys are signed up, Yes, Marvin.
Speaker 6 (27:21):
And it's a deep draft.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (27:23):
If the Thunder we talked about Brayla Mullins, Hey, with
the seventeenth pick, we'll take Brayla Mullins. You're adding him
somebody you can develop, and now you got another starter
type player.
Speaker 3 (27:34):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (27:34):
Kristin Syracuse mentioned this last hour. I didn't follow up
on it at the time, but Gino Oriema reapologized to
Don Staley.
Speaker 15 (27:43):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (27:43):
There's actually a phone call between the two, and I
know that Bo said, hey, let's move on with this.
But we spent enough time on it that I'm going
to stop for a moment before i move on. All
I wanted him to say was, I mean, don't wait
this long to reapologie. All you have to say is
I apologize to Don Staley and her wonderful staff and
(28:06):
the players at South Carolina. I made this about me.
It should have been a great win and should have
been about those women and how well they played. We
got out coached, we got out played. They deserve the credit.
That's why I have to say. But when you have
an apology a statement, and you don't mention don Staley,
(28:29):
then you don't have an apology. And I'm sure there
was internal pressure to be like, you gotta say Don's name.
It looks bad. The focus is still on you. We're
not going to remember UCLA women winning this tournament five years,
ten years from now will be like, man, that's when
it will probably go. Oh man, was that in the
(28:52):
championship game? Like they got great ratings and UCLA proved
to be the best team college basketball. But you gotta
say don Staley's name.
Speaker 3 (29:05):
You do.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
You may not like it, but you got to do
it because you were wrong. And yes, we can move
on from this. We'll never truly move on from this.
And we did reach out to Gino because I wanted
to say to Gino, just say don Staley's name, and
then he did and then they had a conversation. So good. Look,
(29:30):
they're competitors. They're not going to like each other. They'll
respect each other. You don't have to like somebody, but
the respect. That's where you mentioned her name. But I
do like that they did talk. I think that's important.
And now you move on. But you can't reapologize, you know,
(29:50):
now on a Tuesday Wednesday, and no, should have been
in the moment apologize. I know you reacted in the moment,
but then when you had a chance to clean this up,
that's when you should have done it.
Speaker 14 (30:04):
Yes, Mark, the build up to next year's game, which
is in Connecticut is going to be massive because it's
not going to be about the players. It's going to
be about the pregame handshake, the postgame handshake between Don
and Gino going forward.
Speaker 2 (30:15):
And maybe they have fun with this. Maybe I'm hopeful
that there's a little bit of a sense of humor.
Everybody's waiting for you. How are you going to interact?
And maybe it's a handshake, maybe it's a hug, maybe
it's a smile, and then you're gonna want to go
out and you know, crush the other team. Zach and Knoxville,
(30:35):
welcome back, Zach.
Speaker 3 (30:38):
Heyp thanks for taking my call.
Speaker 13 (30:40):
And that's a perfect segue into part of what I
wanted to say Adam and Illinois, said.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
A caller earlier.
Speaker 13 (30:48):
It's Zach in Knoxville, the notorious Zig say my name, bro.
Speaker 2 (30:54):
But I also wanted to.
Speaker 13 (30:56):
Just just take him inute and let Seaton that he's
meant a lot to the show.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
And I'm going to miss that.
Speaker 13 (31:03):
Validating laugh whenever you say something funny and Seaton laughs
that big laugh. You know, you know you landed it.
And just to get it back to sports, you had
talked about Jeremiah Love earlier, and do you think it's
because of the way that the game is kind of
(31:23):
cycling back into the running back era or do you
think he's just that good of a talent that you
would draft him that high.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
I think he's he's the difference maker in this draft.
It feels like offensively and defensively, he is the guy
who can change a game. As long as I have
a three down back, I don't want to take him
off the field. And we see this with these teams
Christian McCaffrey or Jami or Gibbs, Vijon Robinson, you know,
(31:55):
having that guy that you can keep out there for
three downs. I want you to be able to take
advantage of him out in space. You Okay, maybe you
don't want to draft him for but he's a unique talent.
Speaker 14 (32:08):
Yes, Marph, I'm nervous that Jeremiah Love is going to
have a Marshall Fulk or Saquon Barkley type of career
where he ends up becoming the Offensive Player of the
Year MVP type of candidate on another team after his
first four years. If he goes to the Tennessee.
Speaker 2 (32:22):
Titans, Dale in Indiana, Hi, Dale, what's on your mind?
Speaker 15 (32:30):
I want to give a couple of recommendations for Stephen's
exits song and one final comment to him as well.
My sources say to stay away from any green Day
good riddance. Just FYI. You also can never go wrong
with some food fighters ever long. But I think I
speak for most DP show fans. We're super happy for
(32:51):
you seeing your family. Wish you the best of luck.
We'll miss your laugh, your spot on Dylan and Tony
Romo impressions, your soccer takes, and your impeccable ability to
buy time install and Dan ask, what's the polquish?
Speaker 3 (33:07):
Thank you? Dale?
Speaker 2 (33:09):
Yeah, I'd be happy to do that, Dan, Yeah, yeah,
see here, what the blah? All right, we'll take a break.
When we come back, we will make our master's picks.
Dylan's going to come in and uh the Baseball Commissioner
Rob Manfred will join us as well. A little bit
later on. We're back after this, Dan Patrick show. Fox
Sports Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation.

if you were watching on Peacock or NBC Sports Network.
We got emotional in here. Uh Seaton said some mean
things about Todd I did earlier in the day, and Uh,
(33:53):
he wanted to apologize.
Speaker 4 (33:55):
I felt badly about that. I don't like being that person,
you know, and and sometimes I try to be funny
and then it get to mean, and then I just
stick with the mean. And I was mean to Todd there.
I was cruel to him, and I felt badly about that.
I wanted to apologize to him. This was, as I said,
my second apology to Todd in two weeks.
Speaker 6 (34:09):
By the way, I know that was heartfelt.
Speaker 5 (34:12):
I felt it.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
Yeah, well, you guys were hugging each other for quite.
Speaker 5 (34:16):
Some eyes and I felt it on the fingertips.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
Yeah, we're very close. We've been intimately close.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
The picture coming in the draft night isn't just about
who gets called. It's about who shows up. So grab
your crew, crack a Miller light, and be there for
every moment that matters, Miller Light legendary moments. Start with
a light beer from Miller, and we'll give you all
the information leading up to the draft and if you'd
like to join us, we have a beautiful spot in Pittsburgh.
(34:43):
I gotta wait for the green light for the big German,
so I can tell you where we'll be and if
you want to join us there. We'll be doing shows Wednesday, Thursday,
Friday of the NFL Draft. Oh look who showed up.
It's the interim. It's Dylan, who's here part of the
Gambling podcast and he'll be sitting in Seatan's chair. Uh
(35:06):
after Friday? Yeah, what is he a Dan? Not?
Speaker 5 (35:08):
What are we gonna call him?
Speaker 3 (35:10):
Is that what we say?
Speaker 2 (35:11):
Now? Setan just apologized to you. Yes, I'd like that.
Speaker 5 (35:16):
Actually absincessarily apologetic for that that was unnecessarily unculed for.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
Okay, so we're gonna do our Master's draft here.
Speaker 16 (35:24):
Yeah, uh we are. It's a tradition like many others then,
and Paul is the reigning champion. Okay, so essentially what
we're gonna do. We each get five golfers. They're broken
up into tears based on the DraftKings odds, okay, and
it's just lowest score to depart. If you have a
guy missed the cut, they get plus five added to
(35:44):
their score. That when it gets.
Speaker 2 (35:46):
Tricky, oh okay.
Speaker 16 (35:48):
And then, as we all know, the winner gets to
pick their champions lunch. And if Seatan were to win,
I have two scenarios for him.
Speaker 6 (35:59):
Okay.
Speaker 16 (36:00):
He could come, make a guest appearance, make his menu,
do the whole thing. Or if he's on the road
or doing something, he can pick maybe things that he
thinks everyone will hate since he can't be there, okay.
Speaker 2 (36:12):
Or he could join us for at a restaurant that's
around the road together.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
I could do that.
Speaker 2 (36:17):
Yeah, it's fun. Yeah, it doesn't have to be mean spirited, Dylan,
I just was giving options. Okay, but why don't we
do that?
Speaker 3 (36:23):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (36:23):
Because Seatan's picking his his Friday meal this Friday. Yeah,
its final meal, the final supper, the last supper, the
last supper. What is the draft order here?
Speaker 3 (36:35):
Well, I was.
Speaker 16 (36:36):
Gonna say, I think Paul should either start or go
last as the reigning champion.
Speaker 2 (36:42):
All right, Well, what's the benefit not Paul goes last
because he won?
Speaker 6 (36:47):
Yeah, like parody in the NFL.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
Yeah, So start with Fritzy, then Setan, then you or Marvin. Marvin,
are you going to be in this? I'll be the control. Yeah,
because you're kind of interim. Yeah, so it'll be a
Todd seat Marv than me, then Paulie. Yeah, and Paulie
gets two picks, yeah, Seaton.
Speaker 4 (37:06):
Sorry, just to be clear, are we picking who we
actually think he's gonna win? Or is this one of
those things if you pick the worst person you get
the most points, then you actually win, and then you
do what we did the last game. I got very
confused with the last time you had your disappointment draft.
I was ironing out the details for that kind of
on the fly. I can tell if you pick a
sixth seed, that's actually where thirty points.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
Okay, all right, let's get this. You want winners, you
want performance. All right, Todd, you go first, as I do.
Speaker 5 (37:34):
A college basketball with the one seeds.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
Scottie Sheffler, Seaton Rory, all right, Marvin, John Rahm, Genreme. Okay,
where there's Genreme, I'm gonna go. Ludwig Oberg got Paulie,
you get.
Speaker 6 (37:56):
Two, nice and simple Cameron Young Xander.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
Sha Kim Xander. Well, wait a minute, he could only
take one of those golfers.
Speaker 16 (38:08):
Yeah, you only get one from each tier, so you
gotta start.
Speaker 6 (38:12):
Tier two, okay. I will go Xander Shotley please for
my first rump pick.
Speaker 2 (38:16):
Okay, and then you're my tier two golfer.
Speaker 6 (38:19):
Will be Man, Victor Hobland.
Speaker 2 (38:24):
Victor Holland von Hobland, great dresser. I am going to
go with Patrick Creed, former winner, you know, all right,
Marvin Jordan Spieth a former winner, Seaton.
Speaker 4 (38:47):
How abum do you didn't get to take Tommy Fleetwood,
by the way, you love taking Tommy Fleetwood. Dam Yeah,
I'm gonna go Brooks Koepka.
Speaker 2 (38:56):
Brooks Kepka, Todd, you get two, I'm gonna go.
Speaker 5 (39:00):
Chris got her up based on what Brenda Shambley said
earlier in the shows. That'll be my tier two. And
for tier three, I am going to go with.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
Tyrell Hatton, Carol Tyrell.
Speaker 5 (39:14):
I called him Tyrel.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
Ryl Carrol Hunt a seatan, oh dear uh. I'm gonna
go Jason Day j Day, the true Green of Folks,
Marvin Justin Thomas, Justin Thomas. I'm gonna go with the
dreamy Adam Scott, very hunky, all right, Paul, you get
(39:39):
a tier three and then a tier four min Wu
Lee min Wu lead to block, Okay, to the swat.
Speaker 6 (39:48):
And Tier four Nikolai.
Speaker 2 (39:51):
Holgard Nikolai Hoyguard. Okay, then it's me. Uh, let's see,
I'm gonna go Corey Connors, Cory, Marvin Cameron Smith, Cam Smith,
(40:16):
seton JJ, friend of the j J and the Spawns,
Todd Maverick McNeely, oh mav Man, all right, that's it.
Speaker 16 (40:30):
There's a fifth tier.
Speaker 2 (40:33):
Okay, okay, rapid fire. Uh who goes first?
Speaker 4 (40:40):
Who just went last?
Speaker 3 (40:41):
To Todd?
Speaker 2 (40:42):
Did okay, I'm gonna go Keegan Bradley, Keegan Bradley, Seaton,
Rasmus hoy Guard all right, uh, Marvin Ben Griffin, I'm
gonna go Sun J M. Falling Max, Welcome home On
(41:02):
We did it, Son Jay at the Masters, Thank you.
Baseball Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred coming up.
