YouTube right now streaming live. You can watch what you
hear YouTube dot Com, slash at Covino and Rich FSR
Live chats popin. Thank you guys for being here. We're
still gonna talk more at World Cup because guess who's
not down with the sickness besides David Draymond?
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Uh? Was it? Team?
Speaker 1 (00:44):
Is it Norway? Yeah, there's something going on. There's a
developing story and it's gonna post another question too. Who's
the biggest star in the World Cup so far? I
don't mean stars of all time, I mean in this
World Cup. We'll get to that if when we have time.
Because we have Big Poppy stop in my broke Big
(01:04):
Poppy with some trivia Baseball, Multiple Choice Baseball three VA.
We do that on Tuesdays on our regular show, and
we'll be giving away prizes, summer prize packs and more.
But right now, Rich the big the second biggest story,
bigger than Aliens and almost as big as the world.
Comep the big wedding, the big wedding over the weekend.
Speaker 3 (01:27):
I mean it's the biggest story. I mean you could
you could deny it. You could be uninterested, and I
don't expect everyone to be interested. Both does a I
think does a funny story involving the Travis Taylor wedding.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
I really do. Travis Kelsey Taylor Swift got married.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
Who a bit of new And I can say what
you do because the Sandman officiated, Oh yes.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
Oh I now pronounce you?
Speaker 4 (01:50):
Oh yes. I think he nodded off during the long vows.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Can I tell you?
Speaker 1 (01:57):
I bet you when he kissed each other, he was
like eh.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
He not only officiated, he sang a song for them
that he wrote like like probably like a wan grow
old with you like something along those lines.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
Sounds like a big celebrity stroke fest. Maybe I'm just
bitter that I wasn't there.
Speaker 4 (02:15):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Possibly, I mean, what's up sand Man? I know he's
a big Dan Patrick guy.
Speaker 4 (02:20):
Who are these guys?
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Apparently there was one story that I found funny. It
wasn't that. It was the you know who caught the bouquet?
Did you see this?
Speaker 3 (02:32):
It was the sister of Chiefs player Trey Smith who
caught the bouquet. And then there's a whole story there too,
like when you're not really close to the family. It's
like getting in the picture when you're not really a
part of the family. Like, should should someone not close
to Taylor Show have be catching the bouquet her wedding?
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Why are we still doing that lay ass tradition? Anyways?
My thought, is she really next to get married?
Speaker 4 (02:55):
I don't think so.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
I mean, I don't know, because I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Dude.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
People don't do the whole how do you do around
the thigh anymore? For the most part. What's it called the.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
How do you do around the thigh? On them?
Speaker 1 (03:07):
He worked this one out? What is it the Yeah,
they don't do that. They don't really do it at
at all weddings anymore.
Speaker 3 (03:14):
Sometimes Travis as an athlete, it's it's Travis's an athlete.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
It was the Jockstrapp revoval. Yeah, you be creative. No,
I I thought this.
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Was an interesting story and I know it's more light
than anything. And again, it's not about Taylor or Travis.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Can I say this, Yeah, I don't want to sound
like the grumpy guy in the morning.
Speaker 4 (03:32):
That's not it.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
No, no, no, I wish everybody the best. I think
it's it's great for everybody. I love them as a couple,
and you know, I'm happy for them. I mean, who
doesn't love love and seeing people happy. I think they
found their match. It's a great story. But you know,
I personally, I'm not into all the hype about like
(03:53):
what happened at the wedding.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
I'm just not O.
Speaker 2 (03:56):
I listen over the weekend.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
You couldn't avoid it on social media because so many
of our colleagues and people we know in the sports
and entertainment world were there.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Like you saw everyone for fair. But I think when
rich eyes.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
You know what's up.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
I think that's great. But I think what I'm saying
is fair. I don't think, of course.
Speaker 3 (04:14):
I mean, like I'm scrolling, I see our buddy Kevin
Burkhart with a tuxedo on.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
He's going to the wedding.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
Like the sports and entertainment world were out a thousand
people were there. Dude, it was a pretty big event.
Adam Sandler's you know, officiating it. Uh, celebrities are doing toasts.
Ray Bow and his wife were there. Apparently they made amends,
which is which is nice.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Right.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
So, I mean, we're talking about a big event in
the sports world. So don't act like I'm just talking
about some gossipy wedding.
Speaker 4 (04:39):
I'm not.
Speaker 1 (04:40):
I'm just giving you the flip side of not everyone's
as tuned in as you think.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
All right, well, then they mustn't have scrolled once on
social media this weekend. The social media world, it was
red car it was red cards and Tailor and Travis.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Now, I'm not denying or debating that. See how you
get defensive, like you know, you weren't even invited, and
you're defending it. I'm saying, you're but your.
Speaker 3 (05:03):
Position to get like I'm talking about something dissipy instead
of just a conversation. Okay, you're giving out so cool.
He doesn't care. I don't get it. You don't care.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
I really really, I mean, I think I think somebody
has to be honest with that side of the story.
I really don't.
Speaker 4 (05:19):
I don't care.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
I wish them the best I really do.
Speaker 5 (05:23):
To Rich in his defense, it's kind of like an
awards show. Not all of us are into saying celebrities
pat each other on the back.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
I don't like award.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Shows either, Danny.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
But you we talk about football every day of our lives,
and Travis Kelsey Taylor's in the eye rolling story.
Speaker 5 (05:38):
I like the fact your topic is not about the wedding,
it's about being stubbed.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Dude.
Speaker 1 (05:42):
I think we should have this conversation.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
I'm just telling you that.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
I'm not just saying we twe it into this.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
We've joked positively negatively about the Travis Taylor shoot distraction NFL.
Speaker 2 (05:54):
This has been a two year story.
Speaker 5 (05:56):
Yeah, and I had a square jar on the counter
and you had to put money in it anytime you
said either Taylor Swift or Travis Kelsey's name.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
But now, after two years, they get married and a
lot of our coworkers, colleagues and players and RANDO people
are at this big party at Madison Square Garden and
You're like, I don't care. Oh, you're the greatest guys
in the world, all right.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
So that's really not my point though, I'm just trying
to speak on behalf of a lot of guys that
probably also scroll right past it, just like you know,
it's very It is very like gossipy and tabloidy, and
it's like for me, when you got the World Cup
going on, all these other things going on, maybe your
mets think so bad, this is like what what you're
(06:38):
tuned into. I'm not tuned into that.
Speaker 2 (06:40):
Well, I think this is the way verger story than
the than the.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
World Cup.
Speaker 3 (06:45):
Moving forward without tm USA and IT, ratings are gonna
plummet itally you.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
Ratings are gonna be terrible moving forward.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
So I saw a clip of Will Compton hanging with Portnoy'
I'm a fan of what Busting with the Boys do.
Busting with the Boys very popular podcast right now. Will
Compton is a pal of Travis Kelsey's and Portnoy gets
when that, you know, Will Compton wasn't invited to the wedding.
(07:14):
So my question and conversation for you has nothing to
do with Taylor Travis. It has to do with if
you're not invited to an event of someone you think
you're close with, is that just the indicator that like yo,
I may have thought were boys, but yeah, I guess
we're just really not.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
And I say this.
Speaker 3 (07:34):
Is only an example because a thousand people were invited
to this event, meaning they made a list. You didn't
make the list of a thousand. If you if you're
a regular person and someone gets married and they invite
two hundred three hundred people their wedding and you're not invited,
that means you're not in the top three hundred. Guess
what that probably means you're not as close as you think.
Speaker 1 (07:56):
I think weddings are meant to bring people together, you know,
loving couples, congratulations, families get together, but also bring some
people apart because you realize where you stand in life.
I have a personal story where recently my girlfriend was
invited to a wedding but no plus one, and you know,
(08:17):
it's like, well, I'm not going to go by myself,
and I guess, like that friendship's over because then you
don't show up to that wedding and then people get
hurt and her feelings are never the same, and weddings,
they are sticky situations. When it comes to invites, we
all need to put our big boy pants on.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
Well, I look at it this way too. We've had
this conversation.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Like let's say.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Covino and Rich to a live broadcast with Fox Sports Radio,
and we have a client that's like, hey, you guys,
we're gonna send you to Atlanta.
Speaker 2 (08:50):
Now.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
If you're in Atlanta and you have like an old
college buddy or one of your good pals moved to
Atlanta with his family, it goes with my theory of
if you don't reach out for at least a cup
of coffee or cocktail, then you're really not friends. If
your college roommate lives in the Bay Area and you're
(09:11):
up in San Francisco. If you're in San Francisco and
you don't at least be like, hey, man, let's try
to sneak in a yo. Can you grab a coffee
before work or after work you want to grab a beer.
If you don't do that, then you're really not friends
because if you're not going to see him, then then
you're never gonna see him. So my point is, if
you're not invited to a thousand person wedding, you're really
not their friends.
Speaker 2 (09:30):
If you're not invited to a forget Taylor Turk.
Speaker 1 (09:32):
You just didn't make the top one thousand, seriously, and
that's a lot of people. I get it, but there
has to be a cutoff somewhere.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
Well, the funny part was the part that Portnoy and
everyone joked about, and I agree, this is funny. Dean Blandino,
like the rules guy for Fox was there.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Okay, so it almost seems like they were like ancillary.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
But it just seems like they were like ancillary broadcasters
and some professional invites. So if you're not invited, you're
like really, like, have you ever not been invited to
an event where you're like, Oh, I guess I didn't
get the invite? Huh?
Speaker 1 (10:04):
I mean, it's a crappy feeling. I saw a headline
that like every a lister was invited except for Amy Schumer,
Like for some reason her name was randomly brought into it.
Oh no, Like was she expecting an invite or she?
I have no idea why that's in the story. Again,
Will Conton is the other story. Will Compton former tight
(10:24):
end Busting with the Boys also not there. So post
is the question, if you don't make the wedding invite
or in this case, the top one thousand, is it
safe to say the friendship's.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Not what you thought it was?
Speaker 3 (10:37):
And listen, this is I love those dudes, Bustle with
the boys, talented guys. Very funny and I know Portnoy
was stirring the pot on this, but again, it's not
even necessarily about Travison Taylor.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
Think of your own life. If if let's say twenty.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Of your what you thought were your best buds are
in a fantasy football league together and you're the one
guy that doesn't get invited, you're you're just not as
close as them as you thought. If you don't get
invited to a wedding or an event. Cave youn know,
we worked with someone at Fox Sports Radio doesn't work
here anymore. I didn't expect to be about it to
their wedding, but it confirmed that, yeah, we're not friends.
Speaker 1 (11:11):
It's there's a lot more to that, and you would
know better than anyone. I mean, there's capacities at some point,
right and I know a thousand people is a lot,
but when you work or when they work with as
many people as they do and they're trying to cater
to all different people, you know, maybe they just couldn't
get more people involved in that. I don't know, Like
(11:32):
it's always a sticky situation, like there was a lot
of family drama one time because my ex through a
surprise party for me, But there was capacity at the bar,
like there's a capacity they got married at Madison Square Garden.
I get that, but maybe still like they had to
put a cutoff somewhere right because it's not a free.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
Fall and also not a normal wedding.
Speaker 5 (11:53):
A thousand people inside Madison Square Garden, You'd have to
assume there were assistants and publicists running names past the
power couple, saying how about this celeb, how about this person,
how about this person. I don't think they sat down.
They're like, let's do our one thousand best friends. Do
you think if you're not invited, you're not a friend.
And Rich's side question too to that is if your
(12:16):
buddy's in town and they don't make time to see you,
is the friendship over. I don't subscribe to that, but
no one wants to feel left out. That's a fact.
Speaker 3 (12:26):
So I'm also I'm telling you I'm like super unneedy
when it comes to friends. I'm not a needy type
of friend that way, but I do believe that if
I'm in a town, I owe it to that person
in our friendship, to maintain the friendship, to reach out
for at least a coffee or a drink, like we
were just in San Diego, right, Yes, we did our
(12:47):
show live at the naval base. What a great day
with the military, Cavino and Rich doing it for Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (12:53):
If I didn't make time from my high school bus,
it doesn't mean the friendship's over because friendships and friends
understand that, Hey, you know, he got caught up, but.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
You made you made an effort to be like, hey man,
I'm in town. Everything, like what do we do communal?
After the broadcast? We had drinks and dinner with your buddies.
Speaker 1 (13:10):
It was nice the effort was made, but if it
didn't happen, it doesn't mean friendship over. So what are
your thoughts on this? There's a thousand people there. Rich
is saying there's ancillary like random broadcasters, but we don't
know how close they are.
Speaker 4 (13:23):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
For all, you know, Dean Blandino and the Travis Kelsey
your best buds.
Speaker 2 (13:27):
But that was the joke that Dean Blandino was there.
Speaker 1 (13:29):
But I also think it proves that there's two sides
to every relationship and maybe a guy like Will Compton
thinks that they're better friends than they actually are.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
I don't know that, right, I don't.
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Or the weirdest thing would be what if what if
your significant other is like, yeah, I don't like that.
Speaker 1 (13:49):
That's a that's a strong possibility. That's absolutely part of it.
So I mean he's.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
Like, what if it was like, yeah, I see him
hanging at like UFC Trump events.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
I don't invite him, Like, yeah, I don't know that.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
So if this were your wedding and there's not a
thousand people obviously because you're not getting married at the garden,
does that mean friendship over you know?
Speaker 4 (14:14):
Sometimes?
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Unfortunately that is how it goes. I think that doesn't
mean they're should be that way.
Speaker 3 (14:19):
Danny, could you agree that you're allowed to say, ah,
you know, I didn't invite that person. Yeah, they're an acquaintance.
But if you call someone your friend, they're invited to
your way.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
That's why this felt kind of strange because it seems
to me that more than half those people were just acquaintances.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
The thing also, what you thought was a friend.
Speaker 3 (14:38):
Yeah, Like if Danny, if you were to you know,
if you were to get married today, that that guest
list would be different than it would be five years,
ten years, twenty years ago, because.
Speaker 2 (14:47):
Your day to day and who you associate yourself with changes.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
I always tell I always tell a Cavino that in
any couple, if you remember who was at your wedding
and if you got remarried again today, how different that
wedding list it would be because there's co workers or ancillary
people that are that You're.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
Like, I don't think I Elvis would be at my
second wedding. No, that trip, but yeah, just that my
first one advance fun fact?
Speaker 2 (15:09):
Can you got married by Elvis in Vegas?
Speaker 4 (15:11):
No?
Speaker 1 (15:11):
Not married by you?
Speaker 5 (15:12):
Always say that he was just there singing job says
who you marry might have changed to in ten years?
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (15:18):
Maybe probably, By the way, Cove, is it better when
you correct me and say Elvis was at your wedding?
I think him marry you is cooler than you. But
you're an elves in person. I don't care what you
think is cooler. It's just not the truth. So you're
painting a fake picture. He didn't marry me, but he
was there and he was in all the pictures.
Speaker 4 (15:35):
I was saying, what you got, buddy, I heard this
from I don't know some psychologists, you know, in an interview,
and it's always stuck with me that you can only
really have like a relate, not even a close relationship,
just relationships with about two hundred people in your life, really,
and after that it gets like fuzzy on what's your name?
And like what are you? What's your role in my life?
So those eight hundred extra people like they're just there
(15:58):
for the scene. I really think that obviously, like Taylor
and Travis have a large circle of friends, it well
exceeds two hudred people. But that's always stuck with me, like,
can you really have a close relationship with more than
I don't know, one hundred to two hundred people?
Speaker 2 (16:12):
No, probably, like Sam say, we had.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
I'm a very Cavino back me up on this for sure,
annoyingly social guy like I like to.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
I like to chop it up with a lot of people.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
I have college buddies, high school friends, like coworkers that
I you know.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
You're the host with the most rich I try.
Speaker 2 (16:29):
I'm a good friendship maintainer. I'll pat myself on the
back for that.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
My wife and I had like under two hundred people
at a wedding, and I was able to narrow it down.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
When you invite a thousand people.
Speaker 4 (16:42):
If you're like some guys like ravaging your shrimp cocktail
bar and you're like, who's this guy?
Speaker 1 (16:47):
Yeah, but they have people to accommodate, probably in their
circle of profession, in their life. They're not living your
conventional life.
Speaker 4 (16:57):
I'm sorry.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
I'll give you a rule.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
You can't compare your beautiful wedding and your realities to
what they are trying to.
Speaker 4 (17:05):
Do in their world cove.
Speaker 1 (17:08):
So they might not be close with all those people,
but the people they invited, they might be fans of,
you know, they want there for whatever reason, Like yeah,
I doubt they're that close to Paul McCartney, but he
was there right to perform. So you can't compare your invite,
in your capacity and your list to what they were
trying to achieve there. And you know, if you didn't
make that list, maybe you're just not as close as
(17:30):
you thought you were, or maybe there was a capacity
and you just didn't make the cut. And that's a
tough reality, but it happened.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
Let me ask you this, do you think some people
have rules for not only not only weddings, even if
you have a freaking Super Bowl party at your house, Like,
what about the rule of like, yeah, if I've never
met the person you're dating or not the person you're dating,
Like if you go to your your fiance, which is
the lamest word, when you go to your fiance and
(17:59):
she's like, yeah, I'm going to invite so and so.
I've heard people have a rule of like if I've
never met them, then no, Like if we've been dating
for years and we're getting married, wouldn't I've met this person.
Speaker 2 (18:11):
Along the way?
Speaker 1 (18:12):
Yeah, And that's a that's a I hate to say this,
that's a reasonable regular person rule. We're not talking about
regular people here. We have a clip of Taylor Swift
on Graham Norton Show talking about the guest list to
her wedding.
Speaker 4 (18:27):
Oh you're going big.
Speaker 6 (18:28):
I just meaning that I was going to invite you
to it.
Speaker 4 (18:37):
If you're inviting me, it's very big. I can see, Taylor. Well,
I'm sure it'll be a five of this day.
Speaker 2 (18:50):
Are you. Are you in the middle of planning at
all now? No?
Speaker 6 (18:53):
I just am doing the album thing now, which is
a big thing. Yes, And then I think the I
think the wedding is what happens after that in the
scheme of the planning. But but I'm really I'm you know,
I'm so excited about it. I'm just like, I know
it's going to be fun to plan because I think
(19:13):
the only stressful weddings are the ones where you have
a small amount and you and people are on the bubble,
right yes, and you have to evaluate or assess your
relationship with them to see if they should be there.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
I'm not going to do that.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
I'd really yeah, truthfully, that's why I did get when
I did get married in Vegas. I didn't want to
deal with all these hassles and people and feelings and
I just wanted to get it over with. I mean,
it didn't work out, but that's part of the reason
why I did what I did, because it seems like
it's less about I'm sure the close circle was there,
(19:51):
so friendship matters, but it seems like it's more of
a status thing after that, Like Graham Norton, you mean,
tell me they're they're the best or it's just a
status thing. So you know, maybe the people that didn't
make the cut, that's an extreme, that's an extreme.
Speaker 2 (20:07):
But then again, so is Elvis being at your wedding?
Speaker 1 (20:10):
I guess so ye eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
We actually have a few people that want to talk
about this. Rich is posting the question based on the
it's a huge story. I'm not de nine at but
based on the big story of the wedding, our version
of the give me a Break Royal wedding. If there's
a thousand person inviting and you don't make the cut,
(20:33):
are you really friends anymore? And you could, you know,
relate that however you want in your own life, Well.
Speaker 3 (20:38):
Then then you start to see what was professional or
not Like I saw like on the on the sports
side of things, there were a lot of athletes and
people from you know, even broadcasters and analysts like former
coaches and players that were there, right, But you notice
that there were no like Seacrests of the world there, Like,
I don't think Taylor looks at those people as anything
other than professional.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Yeah, people that interview were yeah, or maybe it can
make it.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
I don't know. I don't know the details.
Speaker 1 (21:04):

Speaker 3 (22:14):
Man, if you're not on the list for a thousand
percent wedding, probably not a friend just saying I'll not
being on the list, whether it be a concert, VIP
list or anything, is the weakest feeling ever.
Speaker 4 (22:26):
Are you sure not on the list? It's coveno, CoV
I n O. Are you sure I don't see you here?
Maybe check on their Fox Sports Radio not here? How
about the rope? You never crossed the rope?
Speaker 1 (22:39):
Look, maybe it's like in for Dan Patrick or a second.
Speaker 5 (22:42):
Are you the guy who interviewed Joey Chestnut last Friday?
Speaker 4 (22:45):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (22:45):
Does anything about that? Maybe if you look on the list.
Speaker 4 (22:48):
No, okay.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
It's always the weakest, especially when you're trying to impress
somebody like yeah, I'm on the list, and you're always
not on For some or maybe that's just me, but
I always have the feeling of you're supposed to to
be on it and you're really not on it, or
they make it like, well we don't see you.
Speaker 4 (23:06):
Nightmare.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
So it's about the wedding, but it's not. And we
have more soccer and prizes to give away. We have
games to talk about and play and it's Cavino and
rich In for Dan Patrick live from the Fox Sports
Radio studio Riches in Texas. I want to hear about
your weekend too, and toilet papers foul.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
I have a sports store.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
If you're right after we tell you about brown cards, which,
by the way, maybe if instead of reversing the red
card so we just got a brown card, it would
have worked out better Yesterday. Dry tpie smears and leaves
extra men on the field. Dudewipes are extra large, wet,
and built to close out the game properly. Send the
free temp back to a TPE user in your life.
Go to dudewipes dot com slash brown card.
Speaker 1 (23:45):
I love that dude, dudewives dot com slash brown card. Okay,
so I'm Steve Cavino. That is the the dude with
the Dicky doodle dandies the Fourth of July party star
Rich Davis.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
Who is who is the little doodle of Rich? Like?
Was that ai? Because that looks so good that little
like Cowboy doodle one of our listeners actually did, because
that is fantastic Riches in Texas Cowboy.
Speaker 1 (24:09):
He's still celebrating. Danny G's on the phones at eighty
seven seven ninety nine on Fox and that's Iowa Sam
playing Billie Idol White wedding. He's our sound technician. We're
the show. Two to four on the West Monday through Friday,
and we're talking about, well, not really talking about Taylor
and Travis's wedding. The question is, if you don't make
the list, maybe you're just not that cool, maybe you're
(24:31):
not that close.
Speaker 3 (24:32):
Yeah, again, it's less about Taylor and Travis, more about
life in general.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Party event.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
When someone's visiting the town you live in, if someone
doesn't reach out to you or invite you to the party,
I don't know if you can really call them your friend.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
Then it's just like, yeah, I know that that's.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
A high maintenance honestly, Like I can't even a better word,
like bitchy way to be. I think you think if
I have people friends that are visiting LA, I expect
them to all make time for me. You're from Jersey, right, yes,
so what First of all, I don't need to see
them all the time. I feel like it's a burden
because I got to be their tour guide.
Speaker 4 (25:08):
Second, like, if they have that's just you being a
trash friend. Guy. If they cared about.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
That person, they have to make time for me or
we're not friends anymore. You're a high maintenance friend. Like
you sound like a diva. You like to assume that
everyone's listening to make time because they're in town to
see you who.
Speaker 4 (25:27):
That's insane. That's insanity.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
I'm not saying they need to make time. I'm just
saying if they don't. I sort of looked at it
as like, well, we really friends.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
Then, or people are busy.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
People are busy with friends. If you don't see your
friends when they're visiting your town to force it.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
Why do you got to force it?
Speaker 5 (25:43):
Rich I have family who traveled down from the Bay
Area and they see Mickey Mouse that's who they Yeah,
time for family in southern California.
Speaker 4 (25:53):
They're visiting Goofy over Danny g. Yeah. It's one thing
to be like visiting LA that's like millions of people,
and then it's like, Oh, you're in Richmond, Virginia, come
on down see me. Maybe that's part of it. Maybe
it's like it's like, oh, you're just five minutes away.
Speaker 2 (26:07):
You're tell me if you tell me If I was.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
Sam goes back to Iowa and there's people he opts
not to see.
Speaker 2 (26:12):
They should be like, oh, I guess I was. Sam
doesn't care about me.
Speaker 4 (26:17):
That's always It's like it's harder when you get older,
like time it just slips away from you so quickly. Yeah,
and I try to see, I really try to see
the people.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
You're trying to use that time to spend it with
the people you care about most, I mean, your parents.
Speaker 4 (26:29):
You feel overworked and overwhelmed and stretched too thin when
you're like trying to see everybody, You're like, I'm not
even enjoying myself now.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
I feel like Sam's Tarence and his sister would be priority.
His buddy Hank from high school. If it's really his buddy,
should understand that, Hank.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Oh, Hank? Did Sam just say time keeps on slipping.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
Slippping, slip slipping somewhere into the future.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
All right, So we'll go to the phones now. The
wedding was this weekend. That was a surprise to me.
I'm being serious, because we talked about. Yeah, I didn't
know it was this weekend. It just sort of like
came out of nowhere. Obviously we've talked about it came
out of nowhere.
Speaker 4 (27:02):
I did.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
That's my point, dude, You think everyone came out of nowhere.
They closed out Madison Square Garden and they came out
of the way.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
I knew all those stories but I didn't know it
was this weekend. I think, honestly, you're you think it's
the grandest thing of all. I'm more consumed with my
own personal life than their wedding. Seriously, I knew it
was happening, I didn't know it was this weekend. So
then I started seeing all these pictures. I'm like, oh,
it's this weekend. I thought they were doing like a
test run or something. And then the story comes out
(27:32):
that there's a thousand people invited. Adam Sandler officiated, and
there's a lot of people that didn't get the invite.
So if you don't get the invite, are you not friends?
That's the question, and again that pertains to your life
eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, Who do we
got the n eg?
Speaker 4 (27:48):
Let's go to New York? Madison? What up New York?
Speaker 9 (27:52):
Hey?
Speaker 4 (27:52):
Madison?
Speaker 2 (27:53):
Was up?
Speaker 1 (27:54):
Hey?
Speaker 10 (27:55):
I got a funny story about this Travis Taylor thing.
I h a cousin that my wife and I were
very close with. If she got married to a guy
in twenty twenty two, and we did get the invite
to the wedding, they decided to have it in Italy,
and it wasn't wasn't in the cards for us to go,
and they never talked to us since.
Speaker 1 (28:18):
So wow, that's another like sticky situation, and it's so unfortunate.
Speaker 4 (28:22):
You have many weddings.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
I had to like deny because I was broke, Like, yeah,
I can't sorry, I can't do your destination wedding. I
appreciate the invite, that's great, And then what people are
gonna hold that against me because I couldn't afford it
at the time.
Speaker 4 (28:34):
You had to not talk to something. That's that's good,
that's crazy, it's great, it sounds wonderful, But who's got
the time and money to do that necessarily?
Speaker 1 (28:42):
But that's what I'm saying, Like people put a lot
of stock into this stuff, and I get it's a
special to talk to them.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
That's a different question, not getting the invite versus not
going to an event because you can't afford or something.
Speaker 2 (28:51):
Those are different companies.
Speaker 1 (28:51):
But it all ties together of how it's sort of uh,
it reminds you of where you stand. It's not necessarily
always accurate, but people are left feeling like weird about
it when it's supposed to bring people together.
Speaker 5 (29:05):
Who else do we got Danny J. Lance in Nashville.
He said, he's got a quick comment on the wedding.
He wanted to circle back to the World Cup. Oh perfect,
that Lance.
Speaker 9 (29:16):
We could talk about everything end of the sun. But
at the end of the day, like Cavino, you got,
you hit the nail on the head with the wedding.
Speaker 4 (29:22):
It is what it is.
Speaker 9 (29:22):
I didn't even know what was going on. World Cup
inundated over here. At the end of the day, if
I come home to southern California, it's gonna take me
a month to see everybody. I'm more interested in like
hitting up my restaurants and like all the spots that
I used to go to and if people want to
get pissed, and it is what it is. But in
regards to the World Cup, you guys said something earlier
about like not being able to get over the hump, Like, dude,
(29:43):
this is the most technical team we've ever had. If
you watched the World Cup game eight years ago, it's
long ball, big guy turn. We're graduating, we are elevating
our team.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
And dude, I was just saying that.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
I was saying that if we if we had one
two knockout round games, it would have been a step
it would have been a big step forward, though, harm percent.
Speaker 9 (30:03):
At the end of the day, these kids are young.
They're all in their mid to low twenties. Outside of
Tim Reim and Dude, I'm.
Speaker 11 (30:09):
A little disappointed in your race because in the end,
they're the social butterfly. Get out there and crush some
bag gets with these frinches. Don't drink that half a
dozen plant for your British friends, BO, Like, come on, bro,
we're the host nation, We're the biggest and best country
in the room. We gotta have some fun with these dudes.
Speaker 2 (30:27):
Go.
Speaker 9 (30:27):
It's all about the vibe, not about the result.
Speaker 4 (30:29):
I love the attitude.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
That's why I was trying to get a cost and
honestly did a better job than me.
Speaker 4 (30:33):
Man. That was that was exactly what.
Speaker 1 (30:34):
I was trying to set the host with that guy.
F He brought the energy. I appreciate the phone call
eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox if you got
thoughts on that, And you know, I did say it,
but it did feel like it wasn't true. In the
moment he said, we're moving in the right direction, right
and that was the sentiment after the game, But after
that deflated dud of a performance it didn't feel like
(30:56):
we were moving in the right direction, but in reality
we are. In reality.
Speaker 3 (31:01):
I think that again the moment with the goalkeeper kicked
the ground, much like remember when the Giants kicker coup
on a field goal attempt kicked the ground instead of
the ball. Yeah, hopefully you had a great Fourth of
July weekend. We were off yesterday, so I know a
lot of people back to work yesterday and today. But
(31:23):
I did want to. I know we're gonna do big
puppy trivia. We're gonna circle back to a little world
couple talk, some football, some aliens. But I didn't want
to give a shout out to something that I did
this weekend.
Speaker 1 (31:35):
Oh, I'd love to hear it riches in Texas. So
does it have to do with the river? I know
you lived the river?
Speaker 2 (31:41):
I did.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
I did float the river. That's always fun. Floating the
river is always good. If you've ever floated a river.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
Did you float the river? Did the river float you?
I'm confused by that.
Speaker 2 (31:49):
That's you know.
Speaker 5 (31:50):
Did you see did you see the big girls that
Chuck talks about on TV.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
In the San ANTONIOO area? There are some big women.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
No, I did notice, so that people it doesn't matter
if you're hot or not. People don't wear anything anymore,
Like like, it's not like I'm gonna wear a skimpy
bathing suit because I'm hot. It's like I'm gonna wear
a skimpy bathing suit because I can. So yeah, there's
a lot. There's a lot of cheek showing. That's not
my observation. My observation is way lamer than that. Anyone
that has little kids playing sports. I experience something over
(32:21):
the weekend that this isn't talked about enough. And Cavino,
don't you dare tell me you're well in the loop
on this because you don't have you don't have any
kids that played sports, And even though you have a
nephew and stuff like that, you've never brought up to
me at Dick's Sporting Goods and I'm sure other places.
This is not a commercial for Dicks.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
I haven't been.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
I go to CVS for all my sporting goods, so right,
and I haven't got a Dix in a long time.
Speaker 3 (32:48):
So I bought my son a new baseball glove, and
while I was at it, I was like, you know what,
I'm gonna buy myself a baseball glove. I haven't bought
a new glove in a while because when I played
catchup my son, I've been using like a crappy old glove.
Speaker 1 (33:00):
Where time three in a lifetime purchase. Maybe it's like
a wallet, like how many do you really need in
your lifetime?
Speaker 4 (33:07):
It's a personal, personal purchase.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
It's a very personal purchase.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
In fact, my wife was saying, oh, so that my
friend's kid could play catch with our son, we should
buy them like a cheap glove.
Speaker 2 (33:19):
I'm like, no, No, that's his dad's job. You don't
buy someone else at glove.
Speaker 1 (33:23):
Yeah, I'm surprised you buy yourself a glove. What was
wrong with your old one? Did you lose it?
Speaker 2 (33:28):
Well?
Speaker 3 (33:28):
I the glove I use on our week to bab
I play softball, and I use a different glove at
the softball glove had a I haven't had a good
baseball glove in a while.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Think you're good for three in lifetime. I just made
that role right now. I'm standing by it. Your little
league one, your high school one, and then like you
get one last new one.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
Can I tell you that's a gen X thinking kids
now have like new gloves every year it's wild.
Speaker 1 (33:53):
Yeah, but I'm speaking on behalf of me, not spoiled
nose pickers today.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
I don't think it's spoiled. I think like I'm always
shocked how people have so many gloves. Anyway, I got
myself a new glove, I got my son a new glove.
Oh I get and there's this machine at Dix. I've
heard people talk about it. I'm like, yeah, yeah, that's great,
tell me more about it, and I would not literally listen.
I want you to listen to me. It's twenty bucks.
(34:18):
And again, this is no commercial for Dick Sporting goods.
They put a stiff ass brand new glove in this
machine for ten minutes and it comes.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Out like a glove.
Speaker 9 (34:29):
Yo.
Speaker 2 (34:30):
It comes out like I've been working this glove for
ten years.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
A dude, Oh, it's like one of those brick pizza ovens.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
Danny G.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
You got you got step sons that they like high
school and college baseball, so you know.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
But you know they purposely rich.
Speaker 5 (34:43):
They maybe this is on the a saving side, on
the balling, on a budget side, but we go to
play it again sports on purpose to get a glove
that's already broken in.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
There you go but those gloves that are already broken in,
they always will say like, oh, the leather's not as good,
it's not as good a glove.
Speaker 2 (34:58):
I know the gloves you talk about how they're already
broken in.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
But I'm just saying I have a conversation's sake, Rich,
I'm not the expert. You made that very clear. You
made that very very clear that I have no knowledge
in this. But what about the old fashioned way, like
the pride and take you know, taking a little pride,
And I thought that having that skill right, it's like
like like I got to see this skill this You
don't know about bending the brim, you know what I mean,
like bending the bridge just the right way to rubber.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
The oil.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
Has their own little method running it over car. Maybe
it's overrated. I get that. So I'm waiting to hear
like the response.
Speaker 3 (35:32):
So I started with the theory of yeah, I'm gonna
do this the old fashion way.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
Look what I got here. I bought glove oil.
Speaker 1 (35:40):
Okay, I bought gloves disappearing glove oil because it looks
like it disappeared on the screen.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
Oil.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
Wow, that was a visual special effect. If you're not watching,
you're missing out.
Speaker 3 (35:51):
I bought glove oil. I bought like the big rubber bands.
I did all that.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
They even have like that mallet now where you like.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
It's like there was some nose picking kids. I went
to the Shorts Tank who built like a like a
rubbery strap. Yeah, the baseball rap, the glove wrap. Yeah, yes,
she's invented by a little kid on Short Tank. So
when I.
Speaker 3 (36:13):
Got all that, I leather, you know, oiled up the glove,
you know, pounded the pocket with a little you know,
with that stick.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
I did the whole deal.
Speaker 3 (36:22):
Next day I'm like, no, I feel like I felt bad,
but I'm like, I'm gonna go use the quote shortcut
and let me tell you these gloves are now broken
in like they're been used for years. So it poses
just a simpler question for me too, what are the
innovations in like sporting goods and gear over the years
that you're you're sort of fascinated by, because to me,
(36:44):
I think it's crazy that every kid on the team
has their own helmet and their own bat. When we
were kids, not everyone had their own helmet or their
own bat. And now the simple fact that you could
take an old baseball glove a brand new baseball glove
and make it feel like a glove you've had for years,
is in saying. So we'll take your feedback next and
we'll talk some more World Cup tugle, baseball, a little
bit football, little of everything here on Cavino and Rich.
Speaker 7 (37:07):
Thanks for listening to The Dan Patrick Show podcast. Be
sure to catch us live every weekday morning nine until
noon eastern six to nine Pacific on Fox Sports Radio,
and you can find us on the iHeartRadio app at
FSR or stream us live on the Peacock apt.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
You know, I saw Big Poppy in the kitchen just
now on the lobby at Fox Sports Radio. You're a
little grumpy now it used to being up this early,
I guess.
Speaker 4 (37:32):
Yeah, he's used to East Coast time, I know.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
But you know what, when you're in for DP, the
Gun's got to make a cameo. So I'm happy to
have him here. He's gonna host Baseball Trivia. We do
it on Tuesdays on the Cavino and Rich Show in
for the Great Dan Patrick. And last week we did
the Dan Patrick Hatrick three shows. Yeah last week, So
if you missed any of them, catch the podcast. But
(37:56):
it's a pleasure being here today, I hope you had
a happy holiday weekend. A lot of you, as my
mom would say, because she's from the eighteen hundreds, a
lot of you back to the Grindstone yesterday.
Speaker 3 (38:04):
Yeah, your mom shall watch that America, the documentary on Netflix,
take her back to the good old days.
Speaker 1 (38:11):
Yes, I watchings. Yeah, it aired on the History Channel
and I think the Netflix is airing it now, the Netflix.
I call it produced by Tom Hanks. So hopefully you
had fun celebrating our forefathers. You could learn all about
it on that new special that Rich is talking about.
And hopefully you enjoyed the World Cup. We got to
talk more about that, all the wedding gossip. There's news
(38:32):
about Norway. Everyone in Norway's sick. But again we're Covino
and Rich live from the Fox Sports Radio Studio Riches
in Texas. And after the show, the DP podcast goes up,
our stream goes up Best of the Week, Everything's there,
our bonus podcast over promised search Covino, CoV I O first,
COVID might come up, but then scroll right past that
Coveno and Rich and follow, rate and review, give us
(38:55):
five stars.
Speaker 4 (38:56):
We appreciate it.
Speaker 2 (38:57):
Yeah, COVID really messed up your search term.
Speaker 4 (38:58):
It really does.
Speaker 3 (38:59):
Yeah, see O V Noll, not COVID, oh Covino there
it is okay. And by the way, shout out to
my buddy Jeff Selman listening out here on the West
Guide Co.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
Probably he's from LA.
Speaker 3 (39:12):
He's together runs the pony Ball division at West Hills,
and he was saying, I just bought myself a new
glove too. And that machine that breaks in a glove.
Now we're talking about like some of the technology differences
when we were kids compared to now. That machine breaks
in a glove in fifteen minutes. That was like stiff,
like a stiff, hard leather glove.
Speaker 2 (39:34):
It's amazing. So but you would prefer to do with
the old fashioned way.
Speaker 1 (39:37):
No, I not necessarily, but I think there's some charm
in that, right, and I think you lose something. It's
like with all the technology, you always lose a little something.
We have great innovations in the world of streaming, but
you know what I do miss sometimes going to the
CD store and that whole routine of it. It's easy
to stream a movie on Netflix, but going to Blockbuster
was lots of fun. You lose things along the way.
(40:00):
I think maybe you lose the art of that extra
pride you might have, and when you're pounding that glove,
you're like, yeah, I broke this bad boy in, and
do they break it into your liking? Because some people
go like straightforward when he break in their glove, like
where's boxy field? And then some people go like with
a little bit of a slant, like a little bit of.
Speaker 2 (40:19):
A lean, go I go a little slant lean on
the glove.
Speaker 1 (40:22):
But you can do that even with the machine.
Speaker 3 (40:24):
He just really it loosens up the leather and you
sort of then take it from there, sort to handle
it from there.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
But any other innovations and sports that are blowing your mind.
Speaker 3 (40:33):
I think when you were a little baseball kid, because
Cavino if to not know us Cavino and Rich Cavino
played baseball his whole life.
Speaker 1 (40:41):
Yeah, I mean, high school, college, everything.
Speaker 4 (40:43):
Yeah, the gear he had twenty seven runs.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
Yeah, he did have twenty seven little league home runs.
Speaker 4 (40:49):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
How come when we're in for Dan Patrick, you leave
out that fun fact. I want the world to know.
Speaker 2 (40:54):
I'm so sorry.
Speaker 3 (40:55):
Yeah, but I would say the biggest changes from we
were when we were kids not all only like flag
football being a big thing now and you know the
advent of certain sports. I think the gear these kids
have is next level, like the uniforms, the gear, everything involved.
Like every kid's got a three four hundred dollars bat,
sliding glove.
Speaker 1 (41:16):
I think that's to you, your LA talking man, you
do get that's you don't think?
Speaker 3 (41:20):
You don't think kids arend the country. You all have
sliding gloves in their own bats and hype fires.
Speaker 1 (41:24):
As they say on Love Island. Ten toes down on
that one. You're you're in an LA bubble. If you
think all kids have three hundred, four hundred dollars bats.
Speaker 2 (41:32):
You think it's only Los Angeles where people have these.
Speaker 1 (41:36):
So down here saying it doesn't exist anywhere else. But
if you think everybody has one, I think you're out
of your mind. Every kids broke and that might be
part of the reason, but not everybody could afford a
three four hundred dollars.
Speaker 3 (41:48):
No, it's like almost like told like you gotta get
your own bat, and they all have these expensive bats.
Speaker 2 (41:52):
Cause you know, I'm in New Brunfels, Texas the Dick
Sporting cause I went to yesterday.
Speaker 3 (41:56):
You walk in it's a display of these three four
five hundred dollar bats and gear and the sliding gloves
and like all the gear looks like ice cream Sundays.
Speaker 2 (42:05):
You know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 1 (42:06):
I do know what you're talking about. Yeah, it's like
a whole in l a thing.
Speaker 4 (42:11):
You know.
Speaker 1 (42:11):
I think when you're talking at money, that type of
money and where everyone has those expectations. Yeah, I said,
that's an La bubble.
Speaker 2 (42:17):
No, that's everywhere. Kids are wait, people, parents are waste
of money. After a kid.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
I'll ask Big Poppy when he's here if kids in
the Dominican Republic are playing with four hundred, five hundred
dollars baseball.
Speaker 3 (42:26):
Now you're going to bring the d R into it. Awesome,
that's a fair said everybody. Okay, we got more Covino
on Rich. We'll talk some World Cup, some trivia, maybe
a little NFL.
Speaker 2 (42:35):
Next hour. Hang time,
