Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio Final.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
Hour in this Monday Reggie Miller will join us, coming
up a little bit NFL news this morning. You of
course had the big trade Max Crosby. Go back to
last week with the Rams and the Chiefs. With that deal,
Rashaan Gary defensive lineman for the Packers going to the Cowboys.
Tua has officially been released, the DJ Moore trade to
(00:27):
the Buffalo Bills. I still wait for Aj Brown to
be traded to the New England Patriots, and then you're
probably going to have one of these quarterbacks land one place,
and then that'll probably lead to the domino effect of
who else goes? Where does Tua go? Where does Gino
Smith go? And where does Kyler Murray go. You also
have Malik Willis. He is the prized free agent quarterback
(00:50):
there and the question is how much is he going
to cost you? Eight seven to seven to three DP
show email address DP at Danpatrick dot com, Twitter handle
at DPH. Watching Jason Tatum with the Celtics and it's
not easing him back into the lineup. He's back in
the lineup, and Boston is closing in on Detroit. Pistons
(01:10):
have dropped four in a row. The Chiefs and the
let's see the Chiefs, the Raiders, the Jets, the Cowboys,
they have Browns have two first round draft picks here,
and you start to look at what you're going to
do with those draft picks. Plus, the Raiders have the
most money in free agency. And if I go back
(01:31):
to last year, the team that had the most money
in free agency went to the Super Bowl, the New
England Patriots, and they certainly felt like they were a
couple of years ahead of schedule, but spending money, and
we were. They coming off a four win season, so
it can be done. And you had a second year
quarterback in Drake may Seahawks spent the fourth most in
(01:55):
free agency last year and they won the Super Bowl.
All right, let's see poll question. What are you gonna
have for his seating for the final hour of the program.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
Yeah, we got two up there right now from Paul
a dude. More questionable signing Cardinals and Kyler Dolphins in Tua.
Right now, seventy two percent say the Dolphins in Tua.
How well do you understand the intricacies of NFL contracts?
A lot, kinda or very little, very little right now
is at fifty seven percent of the vote. Yeah, it
(02:25):
is confusing as hell. Are you like we Why don't
they just cut him right now? Wow, it's actually better
if you wait till March fifteenth. Why woll because then
you got to reach a who what?
Speaker 1 (02:33):
It's crazy.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
I'm still trying to figure out that second apron. You know,
it's like, all right, I missed the first apron, now
it's the second. Does football have aprons? Or is it NBA?
Is it just that right?
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Just has a hard salary cap? And who has more
of a soft who doesn't have one at all? My
favorite is legal tampering. Why call it tampering if you're
allowed to do it? But I don't know this kind
of an oxy more.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
What did I call you? Todd?
Speaker 4 (03:02):
That's not very nice.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
No, it's not.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
I think voters are giving themselves a little too much credit.
Speaker 5 (03:05):
That should be like seventy three percent know very little
about how this all works.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
By the way, I didn't hear from somebody who used
to be on the selection committee for March Madness. He said,
you're giving us way too much credit. If you think
we manipulated matchups in the NCAA Tournament, and I didn't
respond to him. I'm responding to him now. But I
have to believe that those some of those matchups made
(03:31):
for TV matchups didn't just happen accidentally. I refuse to
believe that, and I'm talking to you my source who
used to be on the committee. Yes, Bollie, it's.
Speaker 6 (03:43):
Almost like a two part process the NCAA Tournament committee.
They decide the seeding of a team, and the next
step is to place the team in a region and
against possible opponents. So when you get a Texas Tech Indiana,
they've decided their seeds and said, oh, we can make
it so they played each other.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Of course they do that, it's a TV show. Yeah,
my source said, the matchups aren't manipulated. You're giving far
too much credit to the committee. I love being accused
of it though. Okay, I still believe that they do that.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
I would do that.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
You know, if you're in the if you're in March madness,
you know got to keep winning. So why not make
it entertaining matchups that you have a former coach with
his team, maybe a player who transferred. Those are fun things.
Zach and Knoxville, Hey, Zach, what's on your mind today?
Speaker 7 (04:38):
Hi, DP, thanks for taking my call.
Speaker 8 (04:41):
Best and worst of the weekend vest is just seeing
all of those mid major conference championships. It's just so
always good to see people playing hard defense with something
on the line. And worst of the weekend was with
Yukon losing the Marquette And I just wanted to ask,
do you think JJ McCarthy deserves.
Speaker 7 (05:02):
A second chance?
Speaker 8 (05:03):
I know he's only had ten starts, but you look
at a Sam Donald or Gino Smith ended up with
the Jets and Baker Mayfield with the Browns. He went
to a very good spot with a very good coach.
Do you think that he's a reclamation project or would
you move on?
Speaker 9 (05:20):
No?
Speaker 2 (05:21):
Well, I'd like to know how they feel because maybe
they see something. Well I'm sure they see things that
you know, we don't see. I only see the games,
But I was never a big JJ McCarthy fan. That
was one of those Hey he's gonna if he proves
me wrong, I'll admit it, but I just I didn't
see it. In college. It felt like he had a fastball,
(05:43):
but he didn't have off speed and they didn't really
rely on him to win games. Very often, which kind
of struck me. But I would give him another year
at his age with that contract still under contract. But
I wouldn't give him another year after this one if
(06:04):
I don't see, you know, remarkably higher numbers consistency. He's
going to stay healthy as well. But that coach and
then that wide receiver feels like you could accidentally throw
twenty five touchdowns. Matt in Nashville, Hi, Matt, what's on
your mind today?
Speaker 10 (06:26):
Day?
Speaker 8 (06:26):
Good morning?
Speaker 11 (06:26):
How are you good?
Speaker 7 (06:28):
Matt?
Speaker 12 (06:29):
Good? It's good?
Speaker 7 (06:30):
Hey, quick?
Speaker 13 (06:31):
Best and the worst of the weekend. Best is resident
Virginia Cavalier fans here sneak greatly and sneakingly, finishing the
season twenty seven and four and fifteen and three in
the ACC. First year coach Ryan Odam did a phenomenal
job this year of building a team with only one
returning scholarship player. Guy never even played much, So kudos
(06:52):
to the Cavaliers. Hope to see them make a good
run in the agency in NCAA tournament. But the worst
of the weekend, Dan, I'm not sure if you're familiar
with the resume of one Jeremy Fears with Michigan State
over the weekend against Michigan had is I believe third
or fourth growing kick of the year. I don't know
how the Big Ten doesn't suspend it for at least
(07:14):
the game, maybe even the entire tournament. Guy's got about
seven dirty plays, seven technicals this year and even worse
than that. Tom is a continuing to say this guy,
i'm's disgusting.
Speaker 12 (07:25):
He has no place in college basketball.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Well, he did coach Draymond Green at Michigan State. I
have seen some of the highlights in you know, their
suspect as far as like, Okay, it's not Grayson Allen,
but it's close. Yeah, Paul, It's.
Speaker 6 (07:46):
Really easy to not kick someone in the grind, so
when it happens in a game, it's probably on purpose.
And if you see it, he did a little like
backwards donkey kick towards the guy's grind.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
Yeah, what's like Grayson Allen? It it takes a little
effort to try to trip somebody. It doesn't. It doesn't
happen like after like the third or fourth time, you know,
then we realize it's not a coincidence. Eric in Oregon, Hi, Eric,
what's on your mind?
Speaker 14 (08:16):
Good morning, Dan, Thanks for the call. Six I just
have one best, no worst of the weekend. I got
to take my son up to Portland yesterday for the for.
Speaker 15 (08:31):
His first NBA game. Got to see the Trailblazers win
one thirty one to one eleven. So he was hooting
and hollerand like I've never seen before. I think they
made a made a fan for life.
Speaker 2 (08:42):
Oh good well, thank you for the phone call Dylan
in Wisconsin.
Speaker 7 (08:48):
Hi, Dylan, here you Dan uh first of all Minnesota
high school hockey tournament. People should watch it. It is magic.
Speaker 12 (08:59):
Oh just just.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
To see the hair the player introductions, the hair awesome
and it.
Speaker 7 (09:04):
Was all the tiers and it was good for those kids. Anyways,
pull up the Badgers beating Purdue on Senior Day. Wonder
Paul and I don't really have a worse, but Rashan
Garriot was time. Good luck Dallas.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
Yeah, what happened to Purdue in the second half of
the season because they were number one there for a
little while. That's a veteran team, I believe, but it
feels like they kind of fell off in the second
half of the season. We had a listener bring up
the LA Marathon and it was a photo finish in
the LA marathon. But then we find out if you
(09:40):
did eighteen of the twenty six miles, you got a medal.
Now Seaton has completed the New York City Marathon, how
would you feel, Setan if people who were running in
the marathon after eighteen miles got a medal, that is
like what you but you finished it?
Speaker 4 (10:01):
I'd be pissed.
Speaker 2 (10:03):
I'd be super pissed.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
But eighteen between eighteen and twenty six miles is a
massive world of pain that you have to power through
to cross the line to get that stupid metal that
you're like, hell, yeah, I did it, I got the medal, yes, Paul.
Speaker 6 (10:20):
So the backstory is the day or two before the race.
The organizing body said that the runners will have an
additional choice on race day due to the heat to
be a little hotter than normal, as high in the
low eighties. So if you get to mile eighteen, you
could stop and still get credit for finishing the race,
and your metal will look exactly the same as the
twenty six point two metal for this one race, only
(10:42):
not necessarily going forward.
Speaker 2 (10:45):
I can't do a participation medal once you get like
the race really starts at eighteen miles. Everybody talks about
you hit the wall. Oh, it's brutal. It's brutal.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
It's brutal between eighteen and twenty six miles. For some
people it's probably really easy, but for me, it felt
like every single muscle on my body was being pulled
off one by one.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
It was horrible.
Speaker 3 (11:09):
It was like the worst thing. But you're like, damn it,
I made it this far. You have to keep going.
You have to finish. Just get the damn finisher's medal,
you know, Yeah.
Speaker 6 (11:17):
Pul and the other thing ten years from now when
you hold up your medal or it's at your house. Yep,
ran the La marathon. If you have the medal, people
assumed whatever marathon you finish.
Speaker 4 (11:26):
Is that right seating?
Speaker 2 (11:27):
Yeah, of course yeah. They're not going to follow up
and say, did you run all twenty six miles? Yes, Todd.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
That's why. If anything, you just get a sticker that
says like I voted today. You get like I ran
part of the marathon. If you feel like you have
to give people something at the eighteen moment.
Speaker 2 (11:43):
Yeah, just like a bumper sticker.
Speaker 3 (11:44):
Yeah, like you still you get your BIB or whatever
that little number that you have, Like there you go
that's your all right, you were in it, that's your
you were in it metal.
Speaker 12 (11:53):
You know.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Look I had a number. See I did it.
Speaker 3 (11:55):
Oh where's your medal? Oh I didn't finish. That's the
way it's supposed to go.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
If you finish, then you get one of those metal yes, yes,
and then then wrap me in aluminum foil or whatever
happens when you get to the finish line. Did you
get wrapped in that? Whatever that I did?
Speaker 3 (12:13):
As soon as you cross the finishing the finishing line,
they like sort of put you right, They give you
that rap, and then somebody hands you a metal and
then they go right there here, stand right here, they
take a quick picture of you. You're like, oh my god,
and then they just move you right along.
Speaker 2 (12:26):
Yeah. And it's not pretty at the finish line because
my wife ran the New York City Marathon twice, and
I just remember she was running with somebody that I knew,
and that somebody that I knew got to the finish
line then threw up right in front of us and
then proceeded to get on a plane and fly. Didn't
(12:47):
you didn't shower, went to the airport, got on a
plane and had to fly a couple hours to get
back home. That's where you're you know, you're walking down
the aisle and you're going, let me see, I'm in
fourteen ce Ooh wow, that person doesn't look like they've
(13:08):
showered it. In fact, they're wrapped in some kind of
aluminum foil.
Speaker 5 (13:11):
Yes, Marvin, watching the sense of accomplishment that people feel
when they finish, because I've worked a couple of New
York City marathons and it's like, I don't want to
drive twenty six miles.
Speaker 4 (13:21):
You ran twenty six miles.
Speaker 5 (13:23):
It's so impressive just watching everyday people run four or
five hours to make it to the finish line.
Speaker 2 (13:28):
Well, we went to the eighteen mile mark one year
when my wife ran it, and we were at a
bar and we came out, cheered her on for you know,
like nine seconds, and then went back in and had
a couple more beers and met her at the finish line.
Speaker 6 (13:43):
Yeah, Paul, Wait, Dan, you said you watched from a
bar at the eighteen mile mark. You should get credit
for watching an entire race because you made it to
the eighteen mile mark.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
Uh Todd in Indiana, Hi Todd, what's on your mind?
Speaker 13 (13:56):
Hey?
Speaker 12 (13:56):
Thanks, guys, thanks for bringing up this subject. I put
on a lot of races. We time a lot of races.
Speaker 10 (14:04):
You'd be shocked at the people that email us the
day after saying I couldn't make it, but could you
please send me my finish for medal because I paid
for it. So you are one hundred percent right. Running
eighteen miles is not running twenty six and just a
little off topic. But what you were just saying, one
of my jobs for my kids when we started this
(14:26):
was to get people's timing chips off their wrinkles when
they finished. I got a call from my daughter from
Collegewood year excuse me, and she said, thank you for
making me do that.
Speaker 12 (14:37):
You know, I said, why why? I can see the
look in someone's eye when they're going to throw up
a file away And apparently she.
Speaker 10 (14:45):
Was at a bar and one of her friends was
the unwelcome recipient of.
Speaker 15 (14:51):
Some nastys.
Speaker 12 (14:52):
But anyway, thank you guys for bringing up that subject.
Speaker 2 (14:56):
All right, thank you, John, Take a break, Reggie Miller.

Speaker 2 (16:12):
He was on the call for the Rockets and the
Spurs last night on NBC in Peacock. Reggie Miller back
with us also Coast to Coast on Tuesday, stays in
San Antonio, the Celtics and the Spurs eight Eastern also
on NBC, and Peacock Wemby again. Wemby both ends of
the floor, inside and out. He shoots over eighty percent
(16:35):
from the free throw line. I'm trying to figure out
what he doesn't do at the ripe old age of
twenty two.
Speaker 9 (16:41):
I think he's starting to figure it out. And I
think what I've been most impressed with, especially this year,
he is embracing how teams are playing him because the
knock especially the first year, be physical with him, get
up under them, kind of move them around. And I
(17:02):
think because of last year his season was short because
of the blood clots, we didn't get a huge sample
size of games. But I think he went back to
the lab this offseason. We saw all his travels with
the Monks and different places trying to figure out the
meaning of life and the game of basketball to him.
(17:24):
And he's come back with a sense of purpose of
matching other teams physicality. Again, He's still not the biggest guys,
but he's embracing how these teams are playing them. And
if you just case in point, the last three games
he went against the Detroit Pistons, a very physical team,
the LA Clippers, who have a number of players who
(17:46):
like to play physical, and even last night with the
Houston Rockets, they have a starting lineup of six six sixt' seven, six'
nine and seven feet With Kevin, durant and they tried
to get a Bunder they tried to be physical with.
Him he embraces that now and almost uses it against.
Them And you're, Right AND i was trying to, think
(18:10):
AND i was trying to put myself in the shoes
of fans of players that it is an experience when
you watch him play Dan And i'm, thinking LIKE mj
was like that because you didn't know what you were
going to see WITH mj on the. COURT i Put
Stephen curry in that because of his ability to shoot the.
(18:30):
Basketball to, me with, me is a musty experience because
you truly do not know what you are going to
see and what you do see and, Witness it's, LIKE
i don't Think i've seen a human being do.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
That but What i'm also seeing is somebody who. Cares
if you saw him in The All Star, game you
saw him in The, olympics even the comeback game against
The clippers where he got, emotional truly cares about the
outcome of the. Game AND i find that really, rare
(19:06):
and certainly at the age of you, KNOW i brought
up twenty, two isn't it?
Speaker 9 (19:10):
Refreshing all? RIGHT i, mean you, know we get so
jaded nowadays because of some of these big contracts and load,
management guys not wanting to. Play here's a guy, who
again he'll listen to the trainers and the doctors for The,
spurs but he wants to be out there every, minute
(19:30):
and he wants to be out there. Competing AND i
just wonder if Our american born, players it's some of
the elite players are getting tired of the talk That
victor Windin yama saved The All Star, game which he.
Did he set the tone in that first, game how
(19:52):
hard he came out and. Played AND i wonder why
Our american born players are looking at this, saying you
know what that should be, us that's how he should be.
Playing and you have this frenchman setting the. Tone And
i'm not the only one saying that he saved The
All Star, game but a lot of people are saying
that because of how he approached it And it's just
(20:14):
refreshing to see that he competes so hard in just
his third, season and he just sets the.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Precedence i'll give you anybody in the league for the
next five, years who you.
Speaker 9 (20:29):
Taking, OH i would take him because of what he
does at both ends of the.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Floor anybody Close Kate.
Speaker 9 (20:37):
Cunningham would be in. THERE i Think Cooper flag will
have his. Moments, Again cooper's only what in nineteen, twenty
but for the next five. Years right, now he's the
face and he's a very humble. Kid but yet how
he approaches the, game he's very. Thoughtful he's very methodical
(20:59):
in terms of prep for a, game prep for his.
Body the only thing that will be a knock going
forward will be the injury. Part and right now he's
with the perfect organization because they basically emitted load management
back to the Great popovich And Kim, Duncan Mommy, Genobi
Tony parker. Days so he's with the perfect organization in
(21:22):
terms of saving his body going, forward and you know,
what protecting him for himself because he, again he wants
to be out there every, minute competing at a high.
Speaker 2 (21:33):
Level speaking of being out, There Jason tatum comes Back
it's not like they eased him into the. Lineup he
was in the lineup AND I i love watching this
team and Now tatum, BACK i think they're the team
to beat in The.
Speaker 4 (21:46):
EAST i.
Speaker 9 (21:47):
AGREE i agree with, him and especially with the recent
slide of The Detroit, PISTONS i think they've lost their last.
THREE i still Think detroit will win The. East BUT
i Think boston is in the perfect situation because now
you have a long runway For Jason tatum to get
into basketball, shape almost a month until the season is,
(22:10):
over and then the first first and second rounds that's
another two to three, weeks so it almost has two
full months to get in basketball. Shape this past game
On saturday In, cleveland he played twenty seven. Minutes this
is a guy that's been off for ten months with
(22:30):
an achilles, injury achilles, tear and he comes back and
he played twenty seven minutes on the. ROAD i thought
they were gonna play him in even smaller, increments but
it just lets me know that he's been back for a.
While because for him to come back and play at
this level and play those minutes in pactful, minutes it
means he's been practicing and lifting and whatever else he's been.
(22:55):
Doing it's been absolutely. Remarkable and it's gonna be a
fun game tomorrow because two great defensive Teams boston The.
Spurs and it'll be interesting because he will be, tested, Him, Brown,
pritcher they will all be tested on the wings because
The spurs play a very physical style as well. Defensively
(23:16):
this should be a very fun and entertaining.
Speaker 2 (23:18):
Game Michael jordan says he doesn't get involved in the
goat debate the latest interview That Mike treco did with.
Him you talked about it on the. Broadcast why Would
mike get involved in the goat debate.
Speaker 9 (23:33):
Because we're his. Minions that's our jobs to serve the, key, Right.
Speaker 2 (23:38):
Yeah but he doesn't have to say anything that.
Speaker 9 (23:39):
He doesn't just say a word and, right he just goes. Scoreboard,
Right that's that's our. Job our job look at the
scoreboard and go like. This all he needs to do
is hold do, this and and that's. It this six FINALS. MVPs,
LOOK i HAVEN'T i didn't play against everyone that's ever.
PLAYED i never, played like he, said Against oscar Or
(24:00):
Jerry west and all. That BUT i do know what
it does feel like to go against, Him Kobe lebron
for one, season AND i love all those. Guys it's
hard to he will never win if he interjects, himself
puts himself in that. Place, again that's our. Place that's our,
(24:21):
job yours and eyes because from you your eye, test
you've been around a long. Time you've seen a lot of.
Basketball i've played against a lot of great, players The,
magics The, larry's The. MICHAELS i played against them. All
SO i kind of get. It but, again that's not
our job to do. That it's and that's not his
(24:42):
job to do.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
That, yeah you, know it's weird WHEN i get asked this,
question because, look you can build up a resume For
lebron and you go what he did to do it
for over twenty years and you, know, consistency but you
See kobe and it's and it's. Weird HOW i Think
kobe got kind Of uh, OH i think we lost.
Speaker 6 (25:06):
You Reg, oh, yeah start bringing Up.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
Jordan here we, Go, Yeah, Todd i'll see if you
can Get regis back on. There i'm just glad That Mike.
Tarico you, Know mike hadn't been that busy the last you,
know six. Weeks i'm glad that he got to do
something where all reg is.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
Back.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
Guy, yeah got to sit down With jordan again for another.
Interview but you, Know kobe is the one, that, like
If i'm you and you, say, okay you gotta Face
Lebron Mike, kobe Like kobe Is. MIKE i mean It's
lebron's a, different different animal out, there but like style,
(25:48):
Wise kobe is Is mike because he he pattered himself AFTER.
Speaker 9 (25:53):
I THINK i think we get caught up when we
talk about the goat situation and the goat. Bait to,
me the best player of the three IS. Mj kobe
is a clone and a better version like he's might on,
steroids better jump. Shooter to, me the fundamentals were better
(26:16):
because he perfected them to be like the MASTER. Mj
if you're talking about, careers the best career out of
all three of, those in my opinion Is lebron because
of the longevity and what he has done eight straight.
Speaker 2 (26:34):
Finals but you you you put emphasis on, career and
rightfully so, Career, yeah there's a.
Speaker 9 (26:43):
Difference SO i Mean lebron has had the best career
out of. Anyone for him to continue to play like
this at this, level this late in his. Career but
if we're going stack for stack, player to, ME, Mj,
kobe and Then.
Speaker 2 (27:05):
Lebron oh in that, order.
Speaker 9 (27:10):
To me in that, order just Because, okay, LOOK i
only had one year Versus lebron my last, year his rookie.
YEAR i got tattooed BY. MJ i got tattooed By
kobe at a high, level you, know Facing kobe in the.
Finals so there's a body of work Between kobe AND
i THAT i can you, KNOW i have a sample size.
Speaker 2 (27:32):
Against it's it's interesting WHEN i watch defenders on guys
who were supposed to score and how you don't let
it affect. You BUT i don't know how you, Don't
like if you're Guarding kobe on the wing and everybody's, watching,
yeah and all of a, sudden he blows by, you
and you, know, Dunks, like how do you not take that?
Speaker 9 (27:53):
Personally, well you never wanted to show emotions when you
were playing those two, guys AND i tried as much
as possible not to BECAUSE i tried to put pressure
on them at the other end as, well Because i'm
blowing by them as. Well you, KNOW I i tried
to put as much pressure and make them work as
(28:14):
hard as they possibly, were making me work to try
to tire them. Out both of those, Players Kobe, mike
they were superior athletes in fantastic, shape which is very
difficult to. Do so you, KNOW i heard you earlier
talking about THE La marathon and you, know running the
twenty six miles and all. THAT i tried to make
it a marathon versus those, guys and make it a
(28:35):
track meet and constantly keep them in motion to try
and tire them. Down some games it, worked other games it.
Didn't but that's WHAT i tried to do versus those two.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
Players talking To Reggie, miller he was on the call
For Rocket spurs last. Night he'll be staying In San
Antonio Celtic. Spurs that's tomorrow, night eight eastern ON nbc And.
Peacock what do you make of THIS La? Marathon if
you run eighteen, miles you get the same metal as
those who completed The New york or the.
Speaker 9 (29:05):
With the participation. Trophies come, on now.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
They're talking about they talked about the, heat and BUT
i can't give you the same, metal the same exact.
Metal is it the exact same.
Speaker 9 (29:20):
Medal, yes come, on that can't. Happen, really the marathon
almost eighteen miles and not twenty six correct basic.
Speaker 2 (29:29):
Eight, YEAH i can't do.
Speaker 9 (29:32):
That, well we're giving out participation medals or just going eighteen?
Speaker 4 (29:38):
Miles?
Speaker 2 (29:41):
No, yeah but you got you got. Kids they probably
get participation trophies.
Speaker 9 (29:46):
And Dry, indeed absolutely Mad. THEODORE i mean it, does
because what are we teaching these. Kids that's not how life.
Works right in the business, world it just don't. Work
you do not get a participation trophy for coming in
(30:07):
second or. Third work, hard go back to the, lab
get in the, gym go outside and start. Shooting, hey
get on the field and start working on your. Fielding
learn how to catch the.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Football did you get anything for finishing runner up in
THE Nba? Finals?
Speaker 9 (30:24):
Yeah you know WHAT i got, back that's. It, yeah
that's all we.
Speaker 7 (30:31):
Got.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
Kobe kobe gave you a pat on the back and, said,
Yeah i'm a. Chance why are you torturing me right?
Now you KNOW i DIDN'T i didn't know who gave
you the pad on the. Back did you give yourself
a pane? Shot gave me A, yeah.
Speaker 9 (30:51):
You gotta play, Hard.
Speaker 12 (30:53):
Rich they.
Speaker 9 (30:56):
Couldn't they couldn't go to Big. Diesel that was the.
PROBLEM i was, Like, okay you're, right big. Fella you're,
right big.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
Fella if you had to pick, that you're going to
get bounced in the second round of the postseason or
you're going to lose in THE nba.
Speaker 9 (31:12):
Finals i'll always take the finals because anything can happen
once you get. There but it, hurt trust, me it
stings much. More it stings much more because you say to,
yourself CAN i win four? Games when you get to the.
Finals that's what you, Say i've got to win four.
(31:32):
Games and then when we went down two To oho
going back home and we won game, three we're, like
we Are you're saying three. Wins you would do anything
to win three? Games and, Yeah so that's how desperate you.
Get and that's the thinking you have to. Have AND
i know people ought to be politically, correct but you
(31:54):
are counting down to sixteen wins once you get to
THE nba, playoffs and once you get to the, finals
you just, say how CAN i win four games before
that other?
Speaker 2 (32:06):
Team would you give up part of your pinky finger
on your left? Hand?
Speaker 9 (32:15):
Friendship, yeah people, understand, man when, yeah DID i on
my left?
Speaker 2 (32:25):
Hand, yeah OH i still can shoot.
Speaker 9 (32:28):
It, YEAH i can hold the. Ball, yeah give me the,
Ball give me the.
Speaker 2 (32:32):
Ball nine and a half Fingers, Miller.
Speaker 9 (32:37):
Yeah just just give me the. Ball people are, Yes,
YES i. Would it wouldn't stink to. Me the reason
WHY i feel this way, people AND i want to
explain this to him IF i had never been so
close for so many, years so many conference finals versus
The Knicks, philly when you're that, close when it's eight
(32:57):
down to four and then losing to The lakers in the,
finals needing four. Wins when you're that close and you
can taste it and see the finish, line but you
can't get to the finish, Line that's WHY i feel this.
Speaker 7 (33:09):
Way the.
Speaker 9 (33:09):
Stinks IF i had been like, first second round and
always you know going, OUT i had was never close
to the finish, line so who. Cares but when you're,
closing you can see the FINISH i felt like That
kenyan runner that was in first place and The american
runner was. Running that's how you feel when you get
to the. Finals CAN i get to that finish line?
Speaker 2 (33:33):
First marvin last week said if he was The Buffalo.
Bills he'd rather not get to the Super bowl and.
Lose he'd rather lose earlier in the. PLAYOFFS i want.
Speaker 9 (33:48):
To be on the biggest, Stage, marvin because you want.
To you want the world. Scene you want to compete
at the highest level against the best. Players and if
that's The World, series the Super, bowl THE Nba, finals
The Stanley, cup The, olympics for some of these runners
and track, athletes you want to compete against the. Best
(34:11):
and that that year we went to the finals With
Larry legend as our. Coach we felt we were the
best team in The. East we knew The lakers were
the best team in The. West we wanted that, smoke
and we knew it was going to be an uphill,
battle but they hadn't won in a long, time so
both of us were coming. IN i, mean we knew
they had the, pedigree they were The, lakers but The
(34:32):
lakers hadn't won. Yet that was their first championship and
we had never, won so we felt we were on equal.
Footing so that's why we felt we had we had a.
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Shot AND i like That kobe stole your, move your
step back jump.
Speaker 9 (34:49):
Shot we had filmed a, real real world. Episode he
AND i we took on The Real world cast The
game of two on eight and before we started, filming
before the other crew showed, up we played one on
One kobe AND i and, hey show me, this show
(35:13):
me this. Move you. Know he was, like picking my.
BRAIN i love how you do. This you, KNOW i
saw you do this against M. J AND i was,
like being a big, Brother, hey, yeah, yeah this is
WHAT i. Did you do the step, back be sure
you create. Space and when he when he closes one
more dribble and then You're he's, Like, OKAY i got.
It that fool was writing it down and using those
(35:37):
moves against me in the. Finals i'm, like ain't this?
Something ain't this? Something smart? Dude Smart Kobe Rest God,
REST i know you were looking down on this interview right,
now smiling and, YEAH I, RANCH i got.
