Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Somebody owes our audience on TV and apology. We of
course are simulcast. That's what it's called a simulcast. So
we're on radio and TV are radio affiliates four hundred
cities around America that carry the radio portion, and of
course we have Peacock and NBC Sports Network. Now I
(00:25):
have cameras all over the building and I'm back talking
to Mario and Anthony. And Mario is the person who's
the eyes and ears of the program. He is the director.
Anthony does graphics. And we're back, we're chatting it up,
we're talking, we're having fun. And then Mario, who controls
all of the equipment, there goes you guys are on
(00:45):
camera right now. We have a camera in the control room.
Marvin gives the finger to the camera.
Speaker 3 (00:55):
Why DP, I don't no, and I sincerely apologize. I
felt awful. I felt legit terrible. There's a lot of
things I've.
Speaker 4 (01:06):
Heard Mario say, you're on camera, correct.
Speaker 3 (01:09):
I literally heard him say it was almost like the
Fritzy moment where he didn't give you the pie, like
we're about to go to break and I'm really sorry.
Most things. I'm not sorry about this. I am sorry
about yeah, because I.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Go, we're on camera and you're flipping off the people.
You just flicked off America.
Speaker 3 (01:28):
I did mean too. It was really for Mario.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Now, your hands being small, not everybody saw it, so
I think. But your arms were really long when you
were holding out your hand.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
They're basically at the camera. That's how long my arms were.
Speaker 4 (01:42):
Yes, Tom, I think you.
Speaker 5 (01:43):
Can playfully give someone the finger, whether it's America or
just a person, just when you know your kid around
with the with your buddies and you just say certain
curse words you don't mean it. I think he gets
a pass for that. He's kipp it sing, he's just
having a little fun. I don't think there was anything
malicious about it. Might have been a little unprofessional. He's apologizing.
Speaker 2 (02:01):
Yeah, but people don't know that on the receiving end,
but now they do, or what if they're children watching Todd.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
It's all about the kids.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Sometimes don't even know what the finger is. Yeah, now
they're going to ask, definitely gonna ask. Yes, right, I'm
not apologizing to the adults. I'm apologizing to the children
because I believe the children are the future. Teach them
well and let them leave the way.
Speaker 6 (02:22):
And what did you just teach them, Marvin by leading
the way? What exactly did you teach them there?
Speaker 3 (02:29):
I feel terrible about leading America's youth.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
I'm rarely shocked. And now you know it's live and
I've got thirteen cameras in here. But I'm standing next
to you, and all of a sudden, you flip off
the camera and I go, we're on TV.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Double bird salute at that, and I'm really sorry, and
you're the.
Speaker 4 (02:49):
Last person that I would think would do that.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
But DP just to let you know, I'm not better
than that. I just want to let you know.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
End of the Day brought to you by Pennini America,
the official trading cards of the Dan Patrick Show.
Speaker 4 (03:04):
You could have had the voters.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
For the Sports Emmy watching and maybe they felt like
you were flipping them off.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
That might be.
Speaker 6 (03:13):
Now it makes sense, Marven, good job now, Now, now
I approve Marvin, good job.
Speaker 2 (03:18):
Now we're never going to win a Sports Emmy, yes, Tod.
Speaker 5 (03:22):
The fact that we should have won at least once
by now, I've got no problem.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
I'm sure you does.
Speaker 2 (03:28):
Everybody collectively want to flip off the Sports Emmy voters here,
is that what you want to do?
Speaker 5 (03:33):
I don't think we have to overdo it, but on
this one occasion that Marvin did that, if that's what
it was meant for, then good for him.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
Final hour on this Tuesday, Good morning.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
If you're watching on Peacock and NBC Sports Network, Reggie
Miller will stop buying a little bit Scotti, Scheffler, Rory McElroy,
and the PGA Tour taking on Bayhill the Arnold Palmer
Invitational presented by master Card Saturday and Sunday on NBC
and Peacock eight seven to seven to three d P show.
We will get more phone calls in here and the
(04:02):
poll question for the final hour of this award nominated program, who.
Speaker 6 (04:07):
Would you rather watch a game with football with Ross Tuckers,
currently beating basketball with Reggie Miller and soccer with Roger Bennett.
Then we have two different versions of this poll question,
who would you follow to safety in a fire?
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Dan?
Speaker 6 (04:20):
The front row and the back row? Right now, Dan,
you're leading their front row, then back row. But then
when you put in who would you follow to safety
in a fire?
Speaker 7 (04:29):
Dan?
Speaker 6 (04:30):
Front row, back row BRGS. Brg's currently winning that one
with forty eight percent of that vote. You're close, Dan
with thirty seven. Front row's doing Okay, back row is
almost non existent.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Okay, yes, Tod.
Speaker 5 (04:43):
Why would it be a good choice to fall someone
that started the fire. I'm trying to understand the logic.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Behind that.
Speaker 4 (04:49):
I did start the fire. I did.
Speaker 5 (04:53):
Yeah, you're like leading the poles or you're close to
the top for like the person that we should go
run and follow to safety.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Unlike Billy Joel who couldn't take credit for starting a fire.
You know, I started the fire. I started the fire yesterday.
But once again, my thanks, my sincere thanks to Eric Jones,
the big german who put out the fire, the rage,
(05:18):
the raging fire.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
Let's see.
Speaker 6 (05:25):
Danny in Ohio. Hi, Danny, what's on your mind?
Speaker 7 (05:29):
Hey? Dan was just giving me a call. I wanted
to see you always ask the guests that if they
had one thing to take from the fire, what would
they take. I was wondering what you and the Dan
ask might take and she did almost burn place down yesterday.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
Yeah, came very close.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
I think I don't know if it changes when we
ask this question, because I'm always adding things, but you
don't have much time to be able to take something
with you.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
Yes, Paul.
Speaker 8 (05:58):
For example, the Tony Stewart quarter panel would be great
to take because it's such a novelty item, and I
like Tony. I don't think I have time in a
fire situation together.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Yeah, that's off his car. I think from Daytona Marvin.
What would you take if you had to get out
of the building and you got sixty seconds.
Speaker 3 (06:16):
Oh, I'm gonna grab a ladder asap, try to grab
that Kobe Bryant autograph jersey.
Speaker 4 (06:21):
Oh okay, now that's Pauli's yeah. What about you? Seton?
You got something, Todd, you got something you would take.
Speaker 5 (06:28):
I've always looked at that old Yankee City and liked
that you have in the corner there by your office.
You know, it seems like something that I would have
to fight everybody for. I just think that's kind of original.
And the NBA pinball machine again, would be tough to
get out of there in a hurry.
Speaker 6 (06:40):
Seton, I think I could do this in sixty seconds.
But I'm grabbing that guar mask and Landon Donovan's jersey.
Those are the two things that I want yeah, and
I'm gonna map that out grab those on my way
out the door.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
When people see the guar mask, they're like, what's that.
And we had the lead singer of Gwar and he
came in and I said, I'd love to have the
mask for the man Cave and he gave me his mask.
Speaker 6 (07:03):
It's a big deal. He doesn't give those away. Yeah,
you know, but that one.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Odoris, the late great Odoris yea, And boy did he
live up to his name because he hadn't washed his
costume in a long time.
Speaker 4 (07:16):
He truly was odorous.
Speaker 6 (07:18):
Life on the road, yes, but he was fun guest,
big football fan, all right.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
So yeah, Danny, there you go.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
That's probably I'm probably taking the Ryan Leaf jersey if
the Colts had taken him. That was the jersey they
were presenting him with, and then Ryan signed it. So
that one usually gets people to say, wait a minute,
Ryan Leaf, he didn't go to the Colts. I said, well,
he was going to and that was the jersey. So
thank you for the phone call. Will in Florida, Good morning, Will.
(07:47):
What's on your mind?
Speaker 9 (07:49):
Hey? You just calling in. Had a tough couple of days.
My mom passed away a couple of days ago and
just feeling down, hadn't laughed or nothing. But last hour
when somebody on your team blurted out, don't get them boys.
That just made me laugh out loud and realize everything's
told to be okay. So I appreciate you guys.
Speaker 4 (08:06):
Thank you, will thank you. Good luck.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Yeah, next few days, next few weeks, and then those
little things that you're gonna see and you're gonna damn mom.
Speaker 4 (08:18):
It still happens to me.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
There's still moments where you just see a picture, somebody
says something how they say it, and I think of
my mom or my dad. Kevin in Texas, Hi, Kevin,
what's on your mind today?
Speaker 7 (08:33):
Hey Danny, I was gonna light the mood up a
little bit. Sorry to give up that guy's mom. So
the three places to watch a game like top notch,
but you got to go a little deeper. This is
kind of Paula's sessions. You got to think about location.
Roger Bennett's going to be a small flat in London.
Ross is going to fill you up with protein and
(08:54):
steak in his little office in Eastern PA. But I
want to be on the beach in Malibu with the
story with Reggie alolicious. Yeah, I'd like to add two more.
Speaker 4 (09:04):
Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 7 (09:07):
Now if we subbed out, this is very Poli style.
We saved about Roger Bennett for another NBC broadcaster in
the Soccer realm Rebecca that it would be a much
better fit. And then what about as a fifth seed,
you get to go to the game and sit with
the hooligans.
Speaker 2 (09:26):
I don't want to sit with the hooligans. I'll watch
the hooligans. I'd rather sit with Rebecca Low. Dan and Naples,
by the way, didn't Reggie his place in Malibu?
Speaker 4 (09:39):
He was next to Pam Anderson. She lived.
Speaker 2 (09:41):
I think next door. I believe so, Dan and Naples, Hey, Dan, Hey, Hey.
Speaker 10 (09:48):
I wanted to congratulate Marv on Armageddon and a quick question.
I was wondering if you save me a couple of
bucks on a plumber. My fiance dropped her ring down
the kitchen sink. Oh hang up and listen.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
Oh damn with your shot.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
This has just not been a great ten minutes for me.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
Well, you flip people off and now they turn on you.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
I really feel bad, children of America. I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
Yeah, I don't think you are. I don't think you are.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
Oh no, no, no, I'm not apologizing for the sake of it.
I mean it really.
Speaker 2 (10:24):
Yeah, you seem pretty confident, comfortable flipping people off, like
you've done it many many.
Speaker 3 (10:28):
Time, like stone cold Steve Austin style.
Speaker 5 (10:31):
Sorry, guys, Yes, Tom, does Marvin want to share any
think about Santo or the Easter Bunny while we're.
Speaker 6 (10:35):
Going No, we're not doing that, Todd God, He asked
if you had anything to share. No, no, there's too
much time on someone else. I'd have to bring it
right back then.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
Uh, let me enough about Marvin. What about me?
Speaker 6 (10:48):
Guys, work into this. I'll show you to ruin something
do I I reta tell you about the time I
went to Jersey Mike's got us up.
Speaker 5 (10:54):
This is not the Todd Fritz Show featuring Dan Patrick.
Speaker 2 (10:57):
It's like that you have the toddcast, and I thought
that that might force you to say, all, I'm gonna
save some of that for the toodcast, or I don't
need to talk as much on the show.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
Apparently that is not working.
Speaker 5 (11:11):
But then there's other days where you're like, oh, I
didn't know you were here today, so I can trying
to figure out my spot here.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
How long have we been doing this A long time?
Speaker 5 (11:18):
I mean no, I'm right, there's no we know, there's
a no win situation from me here, like oh it's
ten thirty eight, you haven't said a word, or hey, it's.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Too much Todd.
Speaker 5 (11:25):
So we got to figure out if I'm kind of
formula here.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
Why don't you figure out that I have?
Speaker 3 (11:31):
But there is no formula and much too little.
Speaker 6 (11:35):
No, it's you're just no, not getting into this, not
gonna get in I'm not doing it anyway.
Speaker 4 (11:43):
What about me?
Speaker 5 (11:44):
I've obviously upset some of the other day nets that
I'm trying to take over the show with suffing.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
So let's address it.
Speaker 4 (11:49):
No just seating, Yeah, just me.
Speaker 6 (11:51):
I mean Paul, you know he hasn't liked you for
eighteen years.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
Yeah, it's just me. Yeah, No, I like Todd. We
get along.
Speaker 8 (11:57):
We talk every morning. But I would say, God, he's
either at zero or one hundred miles an hour on
the show, and it'd be nice, it'd be more balanced
of little bit little.
Speaker 6 (12:08):
Maybe maybe a school zone speed limit, Yeah, maybe fifty
five if you get in the fast lane, if you
want to go ten miles an hour faster without letting
anybody pass you.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Manny in Dayton, Good morning, Manny. What's on your mind?
Speaker 11 (12:25):
Hey, mister Patrick a third time caller, longtime listener five
nine dropping one ninety five. Two things, First, Paul, ye,
I know I owe you pie to the face bed
for the pry baby Bears winning the division. I will
(12:48):
do that as some of the weather breaks. And Second,
when Marwin was showing the birdie, mister Patrick, you were
right next to him.
Speaker 10 (12:59):
You didn't put his hands out.
Speaker 11 (13:00):
You get him a hug from the side.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
I didn't know he was flipping off the camera, Manny.
And his name is Marvin Marvin. Yeah, thank you, Manny.
I stood next to Marvin, put my arm around him.
I didn't know he was going to flip off the camera.
Why would I expect that? He was raised by a
(13:23):
wonderful woman I did.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
Yeah. How do you think your mom would feel if
she watched that?
Speaker 3 (13:31):
Oh, I'd get a phone call.
Speaker 4 (13:33):
Well, you might get a phone call.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
Marvin Tourell, let me tell you something.
Speaker 4 (13:39):
When you get your middle name?
Speaker 3 (13:41):
Ye, no bueno.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
And once again it's Marvin Gay and his Tammy Terrell,
Tammy Terrell yep, and they recorded together.
Speaker 3 (13:50):
Correct, Marvin Gaye was killed April first. I was born April.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
Thirteen, and you're named after Marvin correct.
Speaker 3 (13:56):
I think it was going to be like Kareem Abdul Princess.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
No, it was.
Speaker 8 (14:00):
That's been great.
Speaker 2 (14:03):
There was a running back at UCLA named Kareem Abdul Jabbar,
and I think he spelled it differently.
Speaker 3 (14:12):
Yeah, he played for the Dolphins too.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
Yeah, that's right. Blue bloop bloop, All right, you're making
a comeback here. All right, Well take a break. Red
Gellow wishes Miller Junior the third Next.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
Subscribed Reggie Miller.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
He was on the call with Mike Tarico the Celtics
seventy six ers last night, and Reggie joins us on
the program. You got any official return date for Jason
Tatum after being around the Celtics.
Speaker 13 (15:18):
Okay, let me clean up some things first, because people
assumed that we were flexing into that Sunday night game
with Boston because we had gotten early information that Tatum
was going to be back for that game, which wasn't
the case. We were flexing in because it was a
better game between two red hot Eastern Conference teams. The
(15:40):
other game was I believe Dallas versus Atlanta. Even though
Atlanta's played a little bit better, Dallas's kind of going
the other way. So that's why we flexed into the game.
It wasn't that we had inside knowledge that Tatum will
be back. To answer your question, and you and I
have kind of talked about this when he should be back.
(16:01):
I'm hearing as early as Friday that he's thinking about
coming back.
Speaker 14 (16:05):
I believe they do play Dallas at home.
Speaker 13 (16:08):
I'm from the thinking I would like to see him
come back in the playoffs, but people's like, well, he
needs games under his belt. This will be a decision
that he has to make. I think it's a foregone
conclusion that he is coming back this year.
Speaker 14 (16:23):
I'm a little surprised, but I think he's.
Speaker 13 (16:26):
Been doing this, working so hard for his mental and
I think he's ahead of schedule. I don't know if
you've watched any of that five part documentary of you know,
the quiet part of them following him around, the best thing,
if there was knock on wood, the best thing. When
he tore his achilles in Game five, I believe in
(16:48):
New York that the doctor was right there, that they
attached it right away, and the thinking was the body
didn't even know.
Speaker 14 (16:56):
That it had that traumatic experience.
Speaker 13 (16:59):
That's how quickly in twenty four hours they have the
surgery on the achilles. So that's why he is so
far ahead of schedule versus a Damian Lillard or Tyrese Halliburton,
is because they had the surgery within twenty four hours.
Speaker 2 (17:14):
But I don't know why you push him the Celtics
of one eight of ten, they're really getting a lot
of contributions from a lot of different players, and I
don't know if you no, maybe you're not rushing him back,
but it feels like.
Speaker 14 (17:28):
Let's clear this up.
Speaker 13 (17:29):
The Celtics are not rushing Jason Tatum. No one is
saying come back and play. This is all coming from
Tatum's camp, so the Celtics are being very patient.
Speaker 4 (17:41):
Tatum can say when he wants to come back.
Speaker 13 (17:44):
Yeah, at the end of the day, this is going
to be Jason Tatum's decision, along with the doctors. Don't
get me wrong. I mean they're gonna put them through
vigorous workouts and all that, but at the end of
the day, Tatum will have the last say saying I
think or I want to go. Okay, it won't be
the doctor saying that. So no one from the Celtic
(18:05):
side is trying to hurry up the process and get
Tatum back on the floor. This is all the narrative
is all coming from the Tatum side, as it should
be because it's his decision and his decision alone.
Speaker 4 (18:20):
Let's go back a couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (18:22):
You're there with Caitlyn Clark and you say to the
other guys on the NBC set that her play reminds
you of Peyton Pritchard. Okay, you see Peyton Pritchard last night.
Does he say anything about that comparison to Caitlyn Clark.
Speaker 13 (18:41):
Uh. Well, we had the conversation because when I said
that it was a Sunday night game, it was our
first Sunday night game.
Speaker 14 (18:49):
It was in New York. It just so happened.
Speaker 13 (18:52):
We had a game Tuesday in Dallas with Boston, and
obviously everything blew up after that because they're saying her
look like shell disrespected. This is people saying she felt disrespected.
And the question from Maria to me was who does
her game remind you of? It wasn't the question of
historically or stature wise, who is she compared to? Because
(19:16):
if that was the case, obviously the W and the WNBA,
she has brought so much attention and eyes like a
Stephen Curry. So if that was the question, then I
probably should have said Stephan Curry. But I was going
by game alone, like who does her game remind me of?
And when I look at Peyton Pritcher, and if you've
(19:37):
watched Peyton Pritcher, which you've seen a lot because you
live in that area, they're very similar. Now he's probably
a better score once he gets into the paint. But
I was talking about in terms she loves to go
left in that step back three deep three. That's Peyton Pritcher.
Throw ahead, get the ball back, big quick moves assists.
To me, that was Peyton Pritcher. I think people got
(20:00):
caught up because it wasn't a huge name.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
You know.
Speaker 14 (20:04):
People say, you could have said Damian Lillard. You could
have said Trey Young, you could have said Stephen Curry.
Speaker 13 (20:09):
I was comparing the games, guys, not the stature of
Kitlyn Clark.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
Did you see her reaction though? She was surprised with
your react with with what you said.
Speaker 13 (20:19):
I didn't see her reaction until everyone was like, did
you see her? I was like, I was talking about
the game.
Speaker 14 (20:26):
So but if you see you've seen his game recently.
Speaker 13 (20:32):
Everyone like the game against LA and everyone was like, oh,
I guess Ragsie was right. Rigsie's closer to that than
she is to Stephen Curry. Stephen Curry's more off the ball. Now,
Kaitlin Clark has the ball like Peyton Pritcher has the
ball all the time. It's just a Peyton Pritcher to
the common man, isn't well known like Stephan Curry. But
(20:54):
to the basketball people, people know Peyton. People really love
Peyton Pritcher, but it is what it is.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
If you had to do it over again, and I
ask you, who does Caitlin Clark's game remind you?
Speaker 12 (21:11):
I'm gonna say, Peyton Prescher, Stephen Curry.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
SG, all of them, all right, Who would have known that?
You would have thought you'd get embroiled in something like this,
But I was like.
Speaker 14 (21:32):
Really, her games? See that? Let me know people don't
know Peyton.
Speaker 4 (21:40):
Yes, exactly.
Speaker 2 (21:42):
And you know what, I am always exchanging these summer
league videos with Marvin. It'll be a Sunday morning at
seven point thirty and I'll send him a video of
Peyton Pritchard playing in a some kind of summer league game,
a pro am game, and he is unbelievable, unboring, scorchy, yesky.
Speaker 13 (22:05):
But again he is not How when you think of
the Celtics, you think of Tatum and Brown, you really
don't think they're Pritchard. But the basketball pearist, we know
who Peyton Pritchard is. But again it wasn't the name.
I guess she wasn't looking for or the people were
looking for.
Speaker 4 (22:21):
They were looking for Steph. They were looking for Steph.
Speaker 14 (22:24):
But that's not her game, that's not her game.
Speaker 13 (22:28):
The only thing that she has in common with Steph
is that they both shoot deep. Steph plays off the ball.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
Now, yeah, we're talking to Reggie Miller read on the
call for the Celtics and Peyton Pritchard against the seventy
six ers. There's the Magic City game in Atlanta, and
I was curious, No, I'll be working. Okay, who have
(22:56):
you been to Magic City? The Wing Establishment in Atlanta?
Speaker 13 (23:01):
I'm sure at some point I've have I ever been
to Magic City?
Speaker 7 (23:07):
Maybe?
Speaker 14 (23:08):
Have you ever been to Magic City?
Speaker 2 (23:09):
I have not, but I did when we went down
to do Celebrity Family Feud.
Speaker 4 (23:13):
I gave Marvin, you did the show from Magic City?
Speaker 2 (23:16):
No, no, no, no no, I did Celebrity Family Feud.
And we were down there and it was we went
to dinner and then Marvin says, hey, I'd like to
go to Magic City, and I said I'm not going.
I gave him one hundred dollars and he said he
was going to make it rain and he went there
for how you made it drizzle?
Speaker 4 (23:36):
How long did you go for?
Speaker 3 (23:37):
So I thought it was going to go there for
you know what. Forty five made its tops three and
a half hours later.
Speaker 14 (23:44):
Whoa Marvin?
Speaker 4 (23:47):
He said, who was there? Lil Bow Wow?
Speaker 3 (23:50):
Low Bow Wow? And Tea Paine and Jermaine Duprie.
Speaker 13 (23:54):
Okay, it's safe to say to answer your question, I've
never made it rain.
Speaker 7 (23:58):
In Magic City.
Speaker 4 (24:00):
So I just say that, have you made it smart
than you have won up me?
Speaker 13 (24:05):
You have won up me. I've never made it rain
in Magic City?
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Have you made it sprinkle?
Speaker 14 (24:10):
I've never made it.
Speaker 13 (24:11):
Rain sprinkle A drizzle, a little cloud cover that.
Speaker 4 (24:18):
You that wasn't back in your generation.
Speaker 14 (24:21):
Though I think it was back, was it? How long
has it been around?
Speaker 6 (24:25):
No?
Speaker 4 (24:25):
I mean making it rain.
Speaker 14 (24:27):
Oh no, that's a new thing, making it rain.
Speaker 4 (24:30):
Yeah, like James Harden is MVP it making it rain.
Speaker 14 (24:34):
Probably has a jersey in there.
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Yeah, when you when they retire your jersey in a
strip club.
Speaker 14 (24:44):
There's so many ways we could go with it.
Speaker 2 (24:46):
Making them making for him, making it rain good for him. Okay,
I took credit. Now I have to take some blame.
I would pester the commissioner of the NBA, why don't
we establish a number of games you need to play
to qualify for first team, second team, third team for MVP?
(25:08):
And I kept saying sixty five now, whether he listened
to me or not, we're at a point where Joker
can't miss more than one more game. SGA, you might
have somebody win the MVP who is not really the
MVP in people's eyes, but only because they qualify. What
(25:31):
would you do with the sixty five game minimum to
qualify for postseason honors number?
Speaker 13 (25:36):
When I get rid of it, that's a hard number
in today's game, And I know it sounds so trivial
for people to say they can't play sixty five games.
Speaker 14 (25:48):
The amount of.
Speaker 13 (25:49):
Running and how the game is played today, I see
where the injuries are coming from.
Speaker 14 (25:54):
I think sixty five that's a It's a tough number.
Speaker 13 (26:00):
And in terms of someone winning MVP, I would be
okay if a kid cutting him on MVP this year
because of the number of games, his numbers back it up,
his teams back it up. I would be okay. If
Jalen Brown won MVP this season. His numbers back it up,
his game backs it up. So uh, it's unfortunate. Injuries
(26:23):
are a part of this game. But I was going back.
Didn't a Rod win in baseball? He won an MVP,
I believe with the Texas Rangers and they were like
in last place or something like that, right or second
to last.
Speaker 14 (26:41):
Something like that.
Speaker 2 (26:42):
Andrey Dawson won an MVP with the Cubs. They finished last.
I think cal Ripken might have won an MVP, So.
Speaker 9 (26:48):
I mean.
Speaker 14 (26:50):
It's unfortunate. I've talked about injuries being a part of it.
Speaker 13 (26:53):
I don't personally like this sixty five You look at
the All NBA teams this year, that's a different conversation
because we could have people that are making the All
NBA teams that probably normally wouldn't be first, second, or
third team because of this sixty five game rule the awards,
I can kind of see, but uh, there's gonna be
(27:16):
some guys on the All NBA team where you're gonna
be scratching your head a little bit.
Speaker 14 (27:22):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
Jeff Cheegue has the Club five to twenty podcast, and
he was asked the following question.
Speaker 15 (27:30):
Watching highlights and y'all thinking how good Yokic? Just how
good you think Larry Birr would be right now?
Speaker 3 (27:37):
Larry Bird, he'd be a small Ford version.
Speaker 4 (27:40):
You think he'd be like one of the best.
Speaker 3 (27:42):
Like Larry Bird would do this night.
Speaker 15 (27:45):
And sometimes I used to watch like older people play
I would be like, man Flood, he ain't this, But
then when I watched yok It's just like he walking around.
He just make it look so stiff. I'm like, Larry
Bird play right now like Luca and Yokis just be
walking around Verry Berry Bird Ernie in eight.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
So what do you think.
Speaker 13 (28:05):
Larry Bird could play in any era generation and dominate?
Same with Magic those guys, Michael, it doesn't matter. You
could plug them in the sixties and you could plug
them in today's game and they would be just as dominant.
People say Shaq wouldn't be as dominant in today's game
(28:26):
where there's so much space and they're switching. Everyone plays
five out, zero in, and they're like, Shaq would not
be as dominant.
Speaker 14 (28:35):
You guys are out of your damn mind.
Speaker 13 (28:37):
Shaq would dominate, probably even more so because he would
be fouling out all these He would be falling out. Indeed,
in the Jokers, it would be ridiculous. Larry Bird would
dominate in today's games and he gets to shoot fifteen
to twenty threes?
Speaker 14 (28:55):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 2 (28:58):
Why is it? And Cheaton brought this up earlier. If
Larry was that greatest shooter. Why did he He never
averaged more than three three pointers a game.
Speaker 13 (29:07):
But the game was played different because the game was
played with your back to the basket. It was more physical.
Speaker 14 (29:14):
And there was no zones.
Speaker 4 (29:18):
When did it change?
Speaker 13 (29:20):
I would say early two thousands is when the game
started to drift.
Speaker 14 (29:24):
The more space pace, open it up, more running.
Speaker 13 (29:30):
I would say, right as dollars retiring in two thousand
and four to two thousand and five.
Speaker 14 (29:36):
That's when.
Speaker 13 (29:38):
Because we wanted scoring up, and how do you get
more scoring You got to make more threes. So teams
started to take and make more threes. So early two
thousand is when it shifted.
Speaker 2 (29:50):
But is this Golden State changing the game or is
it before Golden State?
Speaker 13 (29:57):
Well, if you remember run TMC, What Nelson, and you
know Chris Mallen, Mitch Rischmand, Tim Hardaway, they were ahead
of their time.
Speaker 2 (30:06):
But I don't think they were shooting threes with regularity.
I think that they they.
Speaker 14 (30:11):
Were like they are today.
Speaker 13 (30:12):
But think about it started with Mark Jackson and then
Steve Kerr just took it to a different level in
terms of head coach.
Speaker 14 (30:20):
You had two of the greatest shooters.
Speaker 13 (30:22):
Ever on one team and Stephan and Clay Thompson, So
why not utilize that?
Speaker 2 (30:28):
Yeah, but I was trying to think, was there another
player team coach who said, you're going to have to
play our style at the other end of the floor
and where.
Speaker 14 (30:41):
I think as of recent that's how the Celtics.
Speaker 13 (30:44):
That's how the Celtics won their championship, and they've been
in contention over the last five six years. Joe mazzoulam
they want to take forty threes and I think last
year they averaged eighteen. This year they're averaging fifteen mates.
So that's what you know without Tatum. Without Tatum, he
makes up those three or four three. So uh, that's
(31:07):
how Boston plays. That's how they're successful. But people don't
get it twisted. Another reason why Golden State was so
good at winning championships, their defense was elite. Boston their
defense is elite as well.
Speaker 4 (31:20):
I think we've talked about this. I had Robert ri
orioh on and retch.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
He's a Hall of Famer, and I'm gonna say this
because it's just like Draymond Green, you're part of an ensemble,
Robert or when your nickname is big Shot Bob. You
played for the Lakers, You played for the Rockets, you
played for the Spurs. You have seven NBA titles, and
you played big in big minutes. This is no different
(31:47):
than Michael Cooper with his contributions to the Lakers and
being part of an ensemble. So now I'm on this
kick to get Robert or into the Hall of Fame.
And I know he was a good college player, wasn't
He said he probably didn't have any play design for
him in his career, but he was playing with unbelievably
(32:08):
talented players who kind of overshadowed anything that he did.
It was Tim Duncan Spurs. You know, it was a
teams Rockets, it was shacking Kobe's Lakers. But Robert oriy
has seven titles and it is part of you know,
winning those titles.
Speaker 13 (32:26):
Not only seven titles, but if you go back to
each one of those runs for him, there was a
moment in each of those series, in the finals where
the nickname became true.
Speaker 14 (32:40):
And I'm with you on that.
Speaker 13 (32:42):
People love to focus in on the numbers. I believe
it doesn't even have over eleven thousand career points. That's
not the point you and I are talking about. Is
what difference did you make on those championship runs, and
whether it's the tip back to him at the three
(33:04):
versus Sacramento, the huge shots that he made on those
back to back title runs in Houston or with the Spurs.
Speaker 14 (33:14):
A little hip check to us.
Speaker 13 (33:16):
Steve, there's moments that we know about Robert or and
I agree with you and Shaq and I. We've had
this conversation before that big shot Bob should be a
Hall of Famer.
Speaker 14 (33:31):
Eventually. I think he'll get in.
Speaker 13 (33:32):
Everyone does, but yeah, I think he should be a
Hall of Famer as well.
Speaker 4 (33:37):
Yeah, man. And plus he was a guy who would
give you one hundred blocks.
Speaker 14 (33:43):
Yes, and people forgot how good defensively he was.
Speaker 2 (33:46):
Yeah, we I asked him, I said, better defender Mike
or Scottie goes Oh, Scotty like it.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
He didn't even has it.
Speaker 13 (33:54):
I would say, Yeah, Scotty was guarding one through five
and as good as as Mike was. And I say
that because he Mike had to guard be. I mean,
I had some of my best games against Jordan, so
but when they put Scottie.
Speaker 14 (34:09):
Off, it was a little different.
Speaker 2 (34:13):
Well, I always go back to when Scotty picked up
Mark Jackson full call, and I felt bad for Mark
because Mark's not gonna be We should have known that it.
Speaker 13 (34:24):
Was coming, because that's what he did to John Stockton, completely.
Speaker 4 (34:29):
Took him out, okay when he picked him.
Speaker 14 (34:32):
Up full and we should have known that, damn, but
we did.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
Thank you, Reggi as always, We'll talk to you next week.

it's a gentleman's club. And he was singing Girls, Girls Girls.
Was that Motley Crue, Girls, Girls Girls.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
Tommy Lee and Company.
Speaker 2 (35:17):
Yes, Marmon, I believe so. But all of those bands
hair bands. Everybody wanted to have the ballad because led
Zeppelin they were, you know, incredible rock and roll band,
but they also had Stairway to Heaven, and it felt
like everybody had.
Speaker 6 (35:34):
To have their power ballad. And what was power ballad?
Was a big deal, dude, Yeah, big deal. But what
was Motley Crue's power ballad?
Speaker 4 (35:45):
Home Sweet Home Home.
Speaker 6 (35:48):
Sweet on My Way, On My Way?
Speaker 4 (35:55):
What was guns n' Roses? Did they? Actually?
Speaker 6 (36:01):
Sweet Child of Mine is kind of a power ballad
too in a way.
Speaker 8 (36:04):
Okay, there's a bunch you could go back to. Faithfully
by Journey. Yeah, but they weren't a rock and roll band.
Jerry gave you a love and touch and squeezing, Jenny
gave you open arms.
Speaker 4 (36:18):
Yeah, they all of theirs are power ballads.
Speaker 8 (36:21):
Okay, I don't want to miss a thing by Aerosmith.
Every Rose has a thorn by Poison, a banger massive?
Speaker 6 (36:28):
How about Reo speed Wagon Keep On Loving You? That's
a power ballad?
Speaker 9 (36:31):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (36:32):
Right, yeah? Anybody else in there?
Speaker 6 (36:38):
Uh, I'm not afraid to throw up, Paul, I'm gonna
I'm kind of stepping on your toes here a little bit.
But you were my lame sticks. Sennis to Young and
a power ballad in a and mastered the craft.
Speaker 4 (36:51):
The who then they have behind Blue Eyes? Is that
maybe a ballad? Beth by Kiss?
Speaker 6 (36:57):
Oh yeah yeah? Did the Stones have a power ballad?
Wild horses. That's not really a power ballad.
Speaker 8 (37:08):
But Angie, some people are saying I Do anything for
Love by.
Speaker 4 (37:16):
Meat Loaf, But I won't do that.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
I won't do that.
Speaker 14 (37:19):
Like eight minutes.
Speaker 2 (37:21):
He was interesting when he came in the studio and
he wasn't in great health, but he wanted to come
in and he wanted to talk football, and oh my goodness.
Speaker 6 (37:30):
What a unique place in pop culture. Yes, yes, and.
Speaker 2 (37:34):
Then and then being in Fight Club a former college
football player, just the nickname meat Loaf. And I'm never
quite sure what how you call something like, is hey
meat or is it hey meat Loaf? Like the artist
young Blood, just say hey young or what's up Blood?
(37:57):
Not quite sure that, Yes, yes, Marvin.
Speaker 3 (38:01):
Going back to power ballads, this song called can You
Take Me High Enough? By Damn Yankees? Do you guys
remember that song? I only remember that because Time Life
presents power ballads of the eighty this one can You
take Yep?
Speaker 2 (38:16):
But wasn't Damn Yankees. Some of the members of it
was a supergroup. Yeah, I think they They were part
of a couple of different groups.
Speaker 6 (38:25):
There, Ted Nugent, uh, Tommy Shaw from Stick Sticks there.
Speaker 4 (38:32):
Yeah, Yeah, that's two.
Speaker 6 (38:33):
It's it's officially a supergroup.
Speaker 4 (38:35):
Might be the first supergroup.
Speaker 2 (38:36):
Yes, yes, from Ranger in the Oh Okay, they probably
had a power ballad too.
Speaker 4 (38:44):
The Tawny Katah Yes, Marvin.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Is Wanted Dead or Alive by bon Jovi considered a
power ballad.
Speaker 6 (38:51):
Yeah, they probably got a couple of them in me.
It's one of the best Blaze of glory. Damn, that's
a solo work. Yeah, that's a John John Yeah.
Speaker 8 (39:01):
Yes, Paul, that's a that's a tough one. I don't
know if that's a power ballad by bon Jovi. I
think love has to be involved on a power ballot.
Speaker 4 (39:09):
Yeah. I was never a power ballad. Guy, It's never
too late.
Speaker 6 (39:15):
Cinderella, don't know what you got till it's gone.
Speaker 4 (39:18):
You know you are rocket. You weren't spinning those No,
I was not.
Speaker 6 (39:22):
You weren't no, because I was out of college by
the time that crappy music came I mean that music
came out in college. Still living at college though, Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
I was off campus.
Speaker 2 (39:33):
Uh. I got older, but everybody stayed the same age
as Watersonson lived it. Oh this day in sports history, Paul.
Speaker 8 (39:44):
I wish Motley Crue had gotten together on this day,
but it's nineteen fifty nine. The San Francisco Giants had
their new stadium named Candlestick Park A long time.
Speaker 4 (39:54):
Uugh Breezy, bad Bullpork.
Speaker 8 (39:57):
Nineteen eighty two, Gretzky scored goals seventy seven eight seventy
nine of his season, and in Tokyo, Japan, O six,
the opener of the World Baseball Classic took place.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
On this date, Caitlyn Clark became the all time leading scorer,
passing Pete Maravich, scoring thirty five against Ohio State. Let's
go around the room see if we learned anything on
the program. Todd, who likes to make it all about him,
you're still bothered by that little, commented Seaton.
Speaker 3 (40:28):
How did it give you what we learned?
Speaker 4 (40:30):
Okay, we haven't spoken since then.
Speaker 3 (40:32):
I'm laying out a little bit. Give everybody a chest.
Speaker 4 (40:34):
Laying out. We wonder if it big German.
Speaker 5 (40:36):
Had invited to the White House to receive a Presidential
Medal of Freedom after saving our lives in the studio.
Speaker 4 (40:40):
I think that's all we've learned. I think it's about
Todd today.
Speaker 6 (40:43):
I'm sorry, Todd.
Speaker 2 (40:44):
Thanks for your participation, Thanks for allowing us to do
this every single day for Todd, who makes it about himself. Seaton,
