(00:21):
how you can win a grill. On May fifteenth, Chef
Greg from Rectech will be here. He's going to cook
for us and give away the Rectech grill. Tune in
tonight Calves against the Pistons, followed by the Lakers at
the Thunder that starts at seven Eastern on NBC and Peacock.
The Lakers are last.

Speaker 2 (00:41):
Glance fourteen and a half point underdog fifteen and a
half point underdogs against the Thunder. Calves are three and
a half point underdogs against the Pistons. Looking ahead to Wednesday,
Draftking sent over the numbers here. Sixers are getting six

(01:05):
seven to three. DP show email address Dpatdanpatrick dot com
Twitter handle at DP show, Dylan, would you update the
poll results please?

Speaker 3 (01:14):
I will, Dan, so the last couple of hours we had.
If I'm a Knicks fan, I'm thinking finals, baby, or
I'm trying not to think about the finals. Fifty seven
percent are trying not to think ben Stiller opting for
the met Gala over nixt game one. Seventy two percent
say week twenty seven percent think it's not a big deal.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
O they there's I have a problem with the video
of Ben Stiller with his wife arriving at the met Gala,
And I don't have any problem that he went to
the met Gala and missed Game one against the seventy
six ers. This is probably something that they had planned,
or his wife had planned, and he's gonna live up
to the Yes.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
We will go to the met Gala.

Speaker 2 (01:56):
If you watch her walking up the steps, he is
playing to the cameras, the paparazzi and talking about the
Knicks are gonna win in six He's not even helping
his wife up the steps with that long train on
her dress. There's another woman in the picture who's holding
his wife's hand going.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Up the steps. He's going, uh yeah, Nixon, sick Yeah.
Nixon six.

Speaker 5 (02:21):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Meanwhile she's walking up the steps needing help because of
the dress that she's wearing. Ah, that's where I have
a problem with Ben Stiller, Yes, stilly.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
I mean I feel like he was probably like, you
dragged me to this thing. You're on your own going.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Up the steps. You drag me here, You drag yourself
up there, and I go to this stupid thing. I
don't know what happens there though. That's what I'd be
curious about, what goes on there. I got to find
somebody who's gone there, Todd, get a hold of Kylie Jenner.

Speaker 6 (02:53):
For me, it's a very valid point because once they're
all showing off their dress and everything, I have no idea.
They're just all staring at each other and whispering them
angst each other, what ugly or wonderful thing each other
is wearing.

Speaker 7 (03:03):
It's weird.

Speaker 4 (03:03):
I don't think they say about anything ugly, man.

Speaker 6 (03:06):
I'm sure there's wispering and cattiness. Like I can't believe
she should have been bad, even on a night like
this where you're supposed to rest some crazy and I
was too crazy.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
Did anybody from the Devilwares product to go to it,
because I would think that would be a perfect movie,
uh advertisement product placement where Meryl Streep shows up or
with Emily Blunt and with Anne Hathaway Stanley Tucci, you know,

(03:35):
interlocking arms.

Speaker 8 (03:36):
Yes, Paul right on cue Dan, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci
and Emily Blunt attended last night.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
Okay, yeah, yes, Marvin, I was going to say that
exact same thing. Okay, all right, good, yeah, and you
have to let me know what you guys think of
the movie. I'm not going to see it, although I
didn't like the first one I did. I appreciate Meryl Street. Uh,
she was playing Anna wind Tour.

Speaker 7 (04:01):
Saw a couple athletes last night, Joe Burrow.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
Miss Jackson Dart there of the Giants.

Speaker 7 (04:06):
Jessin, Jefferson, Russell Wilson. Obviously he's a man about town
with his wife Sierra.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
And maybe russ is going to join the CBS pregame
show question Mark Stay in New York.

Speaker 7 (04:18):
Oh yeah, it felt like him going to the Giants, like,
you know what, this is a.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Great rare move for his wife and him as well
if he's going to do TV. But yeah, his wife
getting opportunities, I guess to do what she does.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
Still when I did that movie That's.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
My Boy, and we were at we were in Indianapolis
and that was the Super Bowl and she was at
the table behind us, and I remember seeing her in person.
It's like, whoa, whoa first ballot Hall of Famer right there, Yanks?

(04:57):
Who else was there?

Speaker 8 (04:58):
Was Vanelle Ice?

Speaker 4 (05:01):
Ice? Was there? Was Jason Sudeika's there? Or was it
Nick Swartson Schwarty's always there? Yeah, because he helps Well
he's in the movie too, but Vanilla, I'm trying to
think if there was.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
But they had a whole table. Why is it we
didn't get to sit at their table? We were in
Indianapolis at the uh Saint Elmo's.

Speaker 8 (05:25):
Yeah, after the test of the movie.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
Yes, And I just remember, like we had to sit
at the kids table. We didn't get to sit at
the celebrity table.

Speaker 8 (05:37):
I remember. Was it Tom Brady walked in with a
TV twelve hat and his crew later that night?

Speaker 4 (05:42):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah, Mark super random.

Speaker 7 (05:48):
But so my wife, for some odd reason, met Susan
Sarandon maybe about a week ago. She's like, oh, she
was so nice. She spoke to me. I was like,
she said more words to you than she said to
Dan Patrick.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
I'm in the movie with her. She's kind of in
the movie with me, but it's a big prison scene.
And I just remember when Sandler and Andy Samberg weren't
there talking and it was just her, and then it
was us. She had no idea who we were, and

(06:20):
you know what, she didn't care who we were either.

Speaker 4 (06:25):
It was awkward that and she looks gorgeous.

Speaker 2 (06:29):
She was stunning, and I just I didn't know what
to say, and so I didn't say anything, and then
she didn't know what to say. She didn't say anything,
and then I just turned around and started talking to
the Daneuts. Oh man, you think everybody gets along on

(06:50):
a movie set or like, you know, hey, you're hanging
out with Jennifer Aniston, Nicole Kidman. No, I'm not. I'm
just in a scene with them. Small talk, you know
what small talk with was Tom Cruise's ex wife, Katie Holmes.
He was still married to her, and the first day

(07:13):
that he was there, she didn't say much. He left
and she had a whole lot to say after that.
She's very chatty and I was in a scene with
her that was cut out of the movie. Jack and Jill,
but she made me cookies, made me cookies, and I'm like, okay,

(07:36):
but very very you know, I think she's from Ohio,
so it was like an Ohio vibe.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
We were just chatting like two girlfriends.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Yeah, just chatting it up like Marvin does with Michelle
Smallman from growing There.

Speaker 7 (07:54):
Today we see, Yes, you.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Were on sports and like.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
All of a sudden, Evan Cohen and Michelle Smallman come
in the you know, friends of the show and they're
in Pittsburgh doing their show. They came in to see
our show, and Marvin saw Michelle and spun her around
a couple of times. Wow, dip, Oh my god.

Speaker 7 (08:20):
I didn't no such things.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
Yes you did.

Speaker 7 (08:23):
Now we were excited to see one of it because
we go back to the days at the mother Ship
because I was her board out when she was producing
and so haven't seen her a while. Hey, just like
when you see Richisen, you spun him around.

Speaker 9 (08:35):
I think Marvin bakeder cookies too.

Speaker 2 (08:37):
No, I don't know. He didn't spend his wife around
on their wedding night like he did Michelle.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
I was like, oh, I'm going wow. Yeah, Paul was
a bit of a ballhog that day.

Speaker 8 (08:50):
Yeah, you were a ball dominant.

Speaker 4 (08:51):
Yes, yes, I share the rock. You were James Harden
that day.

Speaker 7 (08:57):
I got so many.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Jokes, Yeah, it were you were. We were all waiting
to say a lodo, you know, Evan and Michelle. Marvin's
like oh and then oh and do you remember when.

Speaker 4 (09:11):
Fake laughter it.

Speaker 7 (09:13):
Was real laughter kind of Okay. I feel that way,
same way about feel see you got to stumbling, the
same way I feel about Michelle. I feel that way
about like George Saddan if I see him or no
you don't, I'll swing them around too.

Speaker 9 (09:28):
Yeah you are a swinger.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
I'm gonna let you off the hook, all right.

Speaker 7 (09:35):
Oh are you yes?

Speaker 4 (09:36):
Now I'm letting you off the hook.

Speaker 10 (09:38):
All right.

Speaker 2 (09:39):
Let me get a couple of phone calls. Oh by
the way, just had a source say, uh hey, just
to let you know that I have confirmed the top
schools in football will be trending towards fifty million dollars
this year. Basketball top programs may near third dollars for

(10:02):
just one year. This is before regulation comes in. Like
everybody's trying to, you know, get their money. We're losing
Olympic sports as well, tennis, field, hockey, swimming, like there's
gonna be sports that are kicked to the curb because
every dollar that you'd be spending on those sports, you

(10:24):
could be spending that dollar or dollars on football and basketball.
But fifty million dollars for a football roster and close
to thirty million for a top basketball program. Jack in Michigan,
Good morning, Jack, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 5 (10:41):
Hello?

Speaker 10 (10:42):
Dan? Hi Jack, Dan, I've got a couple ideas for
your final show for some gifting options.

Speaker 4 (10:50):
Oh okay, the.

Speaker 10 (10:53):
Way I see the show, I think you are like
the quarterback of the show, the Dan outside of the lineman.
They're doing some of the dirty work, not getting a
lot of notoriety, and I think you could do like
the quarterbacks do at the end of a good season,
maybe get the guys.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
I'm not buying them, No, I'm not buying them anything.
I gave them life. I birthed them. I game careers.
Come on, Jack, you don't know, Jack, Yes, Dylan, all.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
Right, if there's four ATVs sitting here on the last
day of the show, I'm not going to be disappointed.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
You can't have Todd riding in an ATV.

Speaker 9 (11:37):
Three ATV's in the little tykes.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
Yeah, yeah, uh, you know who knows, who knows what's
going to happen, Who knows how we're going to feel
about each other when we get closer.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
Buying gifts for my offensive lineman. Yes, Paul, you gotta get.

Speaker 8 (11:53):
Todd one of those old people scooters that they scoot
around the malls with.

Speaker 7 (11:56):
Right ready.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
I would not I would not have him in that.

Speaker 9 (11:59):
Even even those are a little I don't know if
I want to go on the Rascal.

Speaker 4 (12:02):
I believe Ian and fort Wayne. I Ian, what's on
your mind?

Speaker 10 (12:07):
Hey, Dan?

Speaker 5 (12:08):
Six two two fifteen, First time, long time grew up
with you. Man really appreciates you and the crew. So
recently started with listening to the Todd Cast. I guess
it would be called, and I started listening in reverse
chronological order, So the first one I listened to was
just this most recent episode. And I've never knew how

(12:31):
much Todd was holding back on the show until I
started listening to the podcast and realized how depraved he is.
He's like a pinball bouncing all over the place. One
of the specific things I learned in the newest episode
was Todd's love for soap, and I'll leave it at that.
And then The ironic thing is I went to listen

(12:51):
to the episode before that and they were talking about
the Metro and how Todd didn't like the Metro and
his first reason for not liking the Metro was because
there's never soap in the restrooms.

Speaker 6 (13:03):
Okay Ton, Yeah, they're often out of you know, the
paper toweling or the toilet isssue, whatever you want to
call it. But now that we're in Dude Wipes Lands,
I have no issues.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Now this is the train going into New York. Yeah,
the Metro North.

Speaker 7 (13:19):
Yeah, Metro North is relatively clean.

Speaker 6 (13:21):
It's not graffiti and all like the New York City
subway you think of growing up. But sometimes that's not
kept very well. Even on Metro North. There's things that
could be done better that you can't lock the door
very well. You hit one bump, the door opens and
there you are and all your glory, and a lot
of times there's no you can't dry your hands and
there's no toilet paper. It's just kind of left for
you to replace survivor in Metro North.

Speaker 4 (13:40):
Basically, more of that on the Toddcast at Danpatrick dot com.
When we come back. Reggie Miller will join us after this.

Speaker 4 (14:26):
Comment away.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Reggie Miller, Hall of Famer, NBC lead analysts for the NBA,
and he's got what do you have?

Speaker 4 (14:36):
You got Oklahoma City coming up tonight.

Speaker 12 (14:39):
And the Lakers tonight Game one.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
Okay, I don't like when people say the Lakers have
no chance. They are They're on the floor. There are
other teams. Boston doesn't have a chance. You know, there
are a lot of teams that don't have a chance.
The Lakers are on the floor, so they have a chance. Now,
how much of a chance do they have in series wretch.

Speaker 13 (15:01):
Look it's a tall order, and look you could base
it off their four regular season meetings. The average margin
of victory for the Thunder or twenty nine points. Having
said all that, that goes out the window because now
you start O and O.

Speaker 12 (15:21):
But things are going to have.

Speaker 13 (15:24):
They have to play a perfect series to upset the
defending champions. And what I mean by that is can't
turn the ball over because that is the number one thing.

Speaker 12 (15:36):
Okay, See, they put so much pressure on you defensively.

Speaker 13 (15:39):
And they have to shoot the ball at a very
high clip, especially from the three, which they're not a
great three point shooting team, and they've got to be
efficient about it because the Thunder they puts so much
pressure on you, they're gonna have to.

Speaker 12 (15:56):
Rebound with them.

Speaker 13 (15:58):
But the live ball turnovers will be the story in
especially tonight, how the Thunder played defensively because they've got
a number of players that love to kind of get
up under you and disrupt you.

Speaker 4 (16:11):
Who would benefit the most from winning a championship this year?

Speaker 12 (16:16):
Player that's that's still in this Yeah, I think wow.

Speaker 13 (16:26):
Jalen Brunson, he was a champion at Villanova and how
the Knicks are playing right now. I think there's two
teams that are so connected. As these second rounds kick off,
that's the Thunder, who are getting ready for game one.
That first round you could just tell, Okay, we're on

(16:46):
a mission to repeat. And the last four games for
the New York Knicks, everyone thought the sky was falling
when it was one to one, when they went down
two one to Atlanta, Oh my god, fire, Mike Brown,
what is Michael Briddy? What is wrong? And then their
last four games have been spectacular. It just shows me

(17:07):
they are so well connected at both ends of the floor.
They are playing. The Thunder and the Knicks are the
two teams again. I like what Minnesota has done shorthanded.
You still have san Antonio on there. But if you're
talking about two teams that are so well connected, I'm
going with.

Speaker 12 (17:25):
The Knicks and the Thunder. Okay, and Jalen Brunton to
win that championship.

Speaker 2 (17:28):
You're saying, so you think it would be more impactful,
more important for Jalen Brunson to win a title than
SGA win another one, Wemby win one, Anthony Edwards to
win one.

Speaker 4 (17:43):
These are all new Lebron to win one. What would
a title?

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Now, okay, might not happen, but if Lebron won a
title this year, what would that mean?

Speaker 13 (17:57):
Okay, Look, he's always in the discussion with MJ. Correct
and Kobe to a certain extent. Kobe has five chips,
Lebron has four, MJ has six. You can make a
case if Lebron want a chip this year, having to
go through.

Speaker 12 (18:15):
The Thunder who are.

Speaker 13 (18:16):
The defending champs, and let's just say hypothetically the Knicks
come out of the East and to go through New York,
you can make a case he is.

Speaker 12 (18:27):
He is the go at.

Speaker 13 (18:29):
Five chips with three different teams. That's pretty remarkable.

Speaker 4 (18:35):
Well, the greatest and the best are yes.

Speaker 12 (18:40):
Totally two different things.

Speaker 13 (18:41):
The best player, in my opinion, is Michael Jordan, the greatest.
If you can make a case if he was to win,
this is all Look, he has an uphill battle, trust me.

Speaker 12 (18:54):
But if he was to win and have to go through.

Speaker 13 (18:58):
Okay, see and then maybe win the and or ant
Man to win the West, and then maybe the Knicks,
maybe Kate Cunningham.

Speaker 12 (19:06):
Yeah, that's that's pretty great, don't you think.

Speaker 2 (19:10):
Yeah, I just don't think Lebron. There's people that are
gatekeepers are not letting him in. They'll never ever acknowledge
that Lebron is better than Mike. And and I say this.

Speaker 12 (19:23):
You're saying better and best versus great.

Speaker 2 (19:25):
I'm saying Mike is the best player. Yeah, Lebron can
have the best resume, and there's a difference in that,
it doesn't mean that he's better than Mike. Mike didn't
have the resume that Lebron. Lebron's resume is unapproachable. I mean,
it's incredible what he's done and still doing it. But
if you said, who's the greatest player you ever saw,

(19:48):
it's Mike. So I don't If Lebron wins, it's it's
it's awesome, it'd be unbelievable story. By the way, any
update on Luca coming back for the Lakers.

Speaker 13 (20:00):
From what we're hearing, he hasn't even started on the floor,
scrimmaging anything like that, so certainly these first two games
he's out.

Speaker 12 (20:07):
I think we'll probably get more of an update next week.
But here's my thing.

Speaker 13 (20:13):
If I'm the thunder knowing that you know Luca may
may not come back in this series.

Speaker 12 (20:19):
How you approach games one and two.

Speaker 13 (20:22):
If you put a beat down on the Lakers, Luca
could probably say, you.

Speaker 12 (20:26):
Know what, I'm good.

Speaker 13 (20:29):
Yeah, we're not gonna But if they let the Lakers
hang around, maybe still a game. Now you're giving the
Lakers life. The thunder can do themselves a huge, huge
pad on the back if they come out and take
care of business and set a tone in game one.

(20:49):
They're the younger team, they're more fresh, and again, every
margin of victory during the four games during the regular
season or twenty nine, you cannot give the Lakers any life.

Speaker 2 (21:01):
I was wondering the I like what Minnesota did bringing
Anthony Edwards off the bench. I got to limit his minutes,
let him kind of get acclimated. But I wonder do
you kind of stay with that for this next game
and have that weapon coming off the bench as opposed
to let's rush to insert him in the starting lineup.

Speaker 13 (21:23):
Well, that'll be an ant man decision. Look, they did
what they've already had to do. They've stolen the home court.
My only question was that was would the knee get stiff.
It was a little awkward early on. Once he got
warmed up, especially in the second half. I think the
second half. He was ant man. I think he was

(21:44):
questioning a little bit of his movements early on. But
if it ain't broke, don't fix it. You won Game
one with him coming off the bench. I don't know
why you wouldn't just go back to that, have that
pop coming off the bench, and then you can start
him once you get back home to Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
The Celtics with their loss, Jalen Brown's comments saying that
there's an agenda against him that he says some officials
told him there's an agenda calling offensive fouls. Your thoughts
on an agenda against Jalen Brown, Well.

Speaker 13 (22:20):
Number one, call names. You can't say some officials told
you that. Call the officials by name, because you're letting
that float out there.

Speaker 12 (22:31):
There's no agenda.

Speaker 13 (22:33):
The Celtics loss because they refused to diversify their offense.

Speaker 12 (22:41):
They just lived.

Speaker 13 (22:42):
All they wanted to do was shoot threes. And I
was saying this on a telecast. I don't mind threes.
I don't mind the plethora of threes you shoot, but
it's how you shoot them. If you're getting the paint
collapse of the defense and knocking it out the shooters
and they're missing That's one thing. All the Celtics were
doing would do a high screen and roll and chuck
thirty footers.

Speaker 12 (23:03):
There's no there's nothing.

Speaker 13 (23:04):
It's so easy to defend, and I just it was
frustrating because that's how they want a championship.

Speaker 12 (23:11):
But they also had a different roster at that time.

Speaker 13 (23:14):
You know, they had the holidays and the porzingis it was.
They had better shooters as well, so there was no agenda.
You guys refuse to change your offense. You just thought
you guys can put up fifty.

Speaker 12 (23:29):
Threes and win.

Speaker 13 (23:30):
And when you're the playoffs, As you know, Dan, you've
been around this game a long time. Once the playoffs hit,
you know, you've got to have a mid range game.
You've got to be able to make tough twos. And
all the Celtics wanted to do was shoot threes and
it caught up to them.

Speaker 4 (23:48):
Can they change, Absolutely, you can change, yes.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
But are you going to put Tatum down low or
Jalen Brown down low?

Speaker 4 (23:57):
They they don't have them have a.

Speaker 12 (23:59):
Great mid game. Okay.

Speaker 13 (24:01):
I thought a lot of his settling was because of
the achilles.

Speaker 12 (24:06):
He didn't have that explosively.

Speaker 13 (24:07):
Yes, we're used to Tatum having he wasn't able to
drive and play downhill like he's used to. He was
great that he was back, but I thought he settled
a lot in that series as well.

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Talking to Reggie Miller read on the call tonight, it's
game one in Western Conference SEMIS eight thirty Eastern NBC
in Peacock. It'll be okay see against the LA Lakers.
I'm wondering how you work a referee. How how do
you get your message to the referee without embarrassing him

(24:40):
or having people notice if it's before during a game.

Speaker 4 (24:46):
How did you do it?

Speaker 2 (24:47):
Or how would you recommend somebody who wants to get
a message like Jalen Brown is telling us, there's a
lot of.

Speaker 12 (24:53):
Ways you do this.

Speaker 13 (24:55):
You start even before it jump ball, when you're out there,
warm up both teams, during.

Speaker 12 (24:59):
Layup line and all that.

Speaker 13 (25:00):
You go to the official hay out and you're doing
everything good, good to see you, and you start setting
up a rapport from Hey, everything good, all right, family's good, right,
this is a hey, great environment. So you're setting the tone. Hey,
let's have this conversation. It's not you know, adversarial. Let's
just you know, talk about this and then every time

(25:20):
out or every free throw.

Speaker 12 (25:23):
Hey, kind of watch this.

Speaker 13 (25:24):
He's holding me down low, and you're trying to make
it more friendly, because if you show them up in
front of fifteen twenty thousand, it's not going to go
your way, especially in the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
What do you make of Draymond Green's comments on his
podcast that Steve Kerr may have hindered his career by
not calling plays offensive plays for Draymond Green.

Speaker 13 (25:51):
Look, I know it raised a lot of eyebrows, and
you know, I heard Austin Rivers and they're going back
and forth. Draymond is entitled to his opinion. He's a
four time champion, and if that's how he feels, look
him in and Steve obviously have a great relationship. You know,

(26:15):
he's been there his whole career. If he feels that,
he has every right to say that.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
Yeah, But Austin Rivers has every right to be count
that critic. I mean, he played in the NBA, so
why can't he say that's silly? Why would you run
a play for Draymond when you have Stephen Clay and
you had Kevin Durant? How did how did Steve Kerr
hinder what was he hindering because if anything, he helped

(26:43):
his career, he made him a star. He said, I'm
intrusting the entire offense that goes through you. How is
that hindering Draymond Green?

Speaker 13 (26:53):
Maybe poor choice of words by saying hindering because I
don't think they You know, people say you only law
unfortune hampships because of Stephen Curry.

Speaker 12 (27:01):
People don't understand You're right.

Speaker 13 (27:04):
The whole offense was being facilitated through Draymond Green, the
way he was finding Clay and Steph.

Speaker 12 (27:11):
So maybe poor choice of words. I'm sure Draymond probably
just wanted one or two sets run for him.

Speaker 4 (27:20):
No, and Robert Ry said, the Rockets never ran a
play for him.

Speaker 13 (27:25):
And look how impactful his career was making big shots.
Look being the facilitator getting those guys off and occasionally
making a three.

Speaker 12 (27:34):
Draymond, that was your role.

Speaker 13 (27:37):
And obviously the defense people forget how great defensively he is,
and for your head coach Steve Kurta come out and
say he is the best defender I've ever seen. That's
he played with Michael Jordan, Scottie Pittman and Dennis Rodman.

Speaker 12 (27:55):
For him to say that about Draymond Green, that's not hindering.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
But if he played in Sacramento and he averaged nineteen
and ten, like nobody cares about Draymond Green. He became
a Hall of Famer because now his abilities.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
But also.

Speaker 13 (28:15):
Steve's a lightning look, he's a lightning rod and whenever
he goes on his own podcast and says these things.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
But would you rather be Okay, would you rather be
Harvey Grant who averaged twenty two a game for Washington
or his brother who played for the Bulls. Horace Grant
is winning championships past.

Speaker 13 (28:35):
In point, Mike Drop, it's all about the chips, and
Draymond has four of them.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
Would you rather have Carmelo Anthony's career or Draymond Green?

Speaker 13 (28:48):
It's all about the chips. They're both going to be
Hall of Famers. Mellow is a Hall of Famer already
and Draymond's going to be a Hall of Famer. One
just has four rings and a Defensive Player of the Year.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
The yellow one got to shoot an awful lot.

Speaker 13 (29:03):
That's what's his game though, So you would take the
top ten score.

Speaker 12 (29:08):
Carmelo is a bona fide bucket.

Speaker 13 (29:12):
But they're both Hall of famers at the end of
the day, and what is gets to drink bub four
times don't doesn't to me? Ships matter, they do a
lot of people. Tips matter. Coming from a guy who
never won one.

Speaker 12 (29:29):
They matter.

Speaker 4 (29:31):
I didn't bring that up.

Speaker 13 (29:33):
But you're saying, you're comparing mellow who to me is
one of the top ten, maybe certainly fifteen scores our
game has ever seen, maybe top ten score that this
game has ever seen.

Speaker 4 (29:47):
See a better scorer than Durant.

Speaker 12 (29:51):
No, but he's in that conversation Durant. Durant might be
top five.

Speaker 4 (29:59):
He's gonna be on an on their team next year,
isn't he.

Speaker 2 (30:03):
It's crazy when you look at Harden and Durant, two
of the greatest scores of all time.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
Yeah, but why do they keep bouncing around?

Speaker 1 (30:14):
Okay, but I.

Speaker 9 (30:19):
Don't say it.

Speaker 12 (30:21):
I don't, I don't. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Do younger players not want to play with these guys?
I don't.

Speaker 12 (30:25):
I Look, I'm not in that Houston locker room.

Speaker 2 (30:28):
Well, it's something happened in that locker room.

Speaker 12 (30:32):
I don't think it happened in the locker room.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
I think these things his burner. Oh did you ever
hear that story? When Jordan was retiring with the Wizards,
and wes Unseldom went around the locker room and asked for,
you know, donations to buy Mike a gift.

Speaker 12 (30:51):
No, keep going.

Speaker 4 (30:53):
Everybody said no, no.

Speaker 12 (30:57):
I refuse to believe that.

Speaker 2 (31:00):
Gilbert Arenas just confirmed it this week. Wes unseld Is
on record saying that it was true. Nobody pitched in
any money to get Mike a gift.

Speaker 12 (31:11):
He was probably browbeating them.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
Oh, I know he was.

Speaker 12 (31:15):
He was probably you know, he probably was.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
But it's still Mike. I mean the fact that nobody
wanted to give any money.

Speaker 12 (31:24):
For nobody, like all fifteen guys.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
We nobody wretch.

Speaker 2 (31:29):
Wes unseld Is on record is saying that was true.
Gilbert Arenas, who arrived the following year, followed up on
that and said nobody donated to Michael Jordan.

Speaker 12 (31:41):
I don't think he needed a gift anyways.

Speaker 4 (31:43):
No, but symbolic though.

Speaker 13 (31:46):
Yeah, but that does that kind of add to the
legacy of mj kind of being an a hole, right, right,
isn't that teammates like Scotty and Horace and these guys.

Speaker 4 (31:58):
When you're winning. If my wasn't winning and he acted
the way he did.

Speaker 5 (32:02):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (32:02):
True, the bulls wouldn't have donated any money when when
he retired.

Speaker 12 (32:07):
It's all finding Danny.

Speaker 13 (32:09):
All the champagne is bubbling coming down and you're getting
your championship rings.

Speaker 4 (32:15):
Red will be on the call tonight. Uh you with
Mike Cherco.

Speaker 12 (32:19):
Mike Tarrico, the great Mike Trico.

Speaker 10 (32:21):
Say his name.

Speaker 12 (32:22):
Right, Theodore Wait wait, they're great Mike Tarrico.

Speaker 4 (32:26):
I'm first team Altarrico.

Speaker 12 (32:28):
Thank you. Yes, you guys are co working.

Speaker 2 (32:30):
I worked with him when he got to ESPN. He
was like twenty four. He had hair.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
I knew you when you had hair.

Speaker 12 (32:37):
That is true. Yeah, those were the days in the
in the early nineties. Oh, we could tell something.

Speaker 13 (32:43):
We need to tell some of those stories in the
in the cigar bar, you and you and Mark Jackson.

Speaker 12 (32:49):
Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
If you guys used me as the final judge, you
would be like Montana, No, it's Marino holy Field, No,
it's Tyson.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
You guys were going.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
And then did you ever go to the Cozy Lounge
in downtown Indy?

Speaker 12 (33:11):
I'm sure I did. I probably hit every I.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
Don't, I don't. This was not it was an all
black lounge. So and you were there, I know I did.
I walked in. I walked in. I think I got grandfathered.
But it it's one of those like Animal House, when
they walk in they go otis my man? And then
the entire club, all black patrons, turned around. That's what

(33:35):
it was. I walked in with my friend Charlie Mornyhan,
and everybody at the bar turned around like what are
you doing here?

Speaker 4 (33:43):
And so we had to go up to the bar.

Speaker 2 (33:46):
And finally I got up there and I'm thinking, damn,
I'm on Sports Center, somebody better recognize me here. Soon
dude comes over to me and he says, hey, let
me get your beer. I said, yes, yes, that'd be great.
And he said, hey, welcome to club. I said all right,
And then they did the they did the soul train
where you danced had the line. I did do the

(34:12):
pony down the Soul Train line because because everybody was
doing it. And I go and the guy who bought
me the beer, he goes, uh, you might want to
do it. I go, oh my god. I said, I'm
gonna need a couple more beers. And then all of
a sudden, I rode the pony down the Soul Train line.

Speaker 12 (34:34):
NAWN loves you. You always have and we always will.

Speaker 2 (34:39):
Reggie on the call with the Great Mike Turrico tonight

R to listen live. Last call for phone calls. What
we learned, What's in store tomorrow? Tim Leagler, the Mothership
will join us, I believe tomorrow on the program. He
is an ESPN, NBA analyst. Good to talk to Legs again.
Still embarrassed that he said he could beat me in
a three point shooting contest.

Speaker 4 (35:19):
And he would shoot left handed. And you know what,
he wasn't kidding. I was embarrassed for him. I said, Hey,
I'm not Greg Anthony. Because Greg Anthony was shooting around
with us. We were in Detroit and Greg Anthony was
a great fifteen to eighteen foot shooter, kind of like
Avery Johnson. But he won a three point shooter and

(35:39):
Legs goes, I could beat you left handed and I
had some choice words for him, and that at the end,
I said, Hey, I'm not Greg Anthony. Okay, yeah, Paul.

Speaker 8 (35:50):
These former NBA players have a lot of attitude, a
lot of.

Speaker 4 (35:56):
You'd think that they would understand, they would not be
challenging me.

Speaker 8 (36:03):
You chose to go to radio and you couldn't.

Speaker 2 (36:05):
Yeah, I chose to be a talking hair dude. What Marvin,
you're shaking your head here.

Speaker 7 (36:13):
I respect your ego, but there are times when I'm
just like, all right, all right, professional and as good
as you were. I met a teammate of yours when
you play inter mirror ball in Dayton. He said you
were a real Michael Jordan on the Wizards type.

Speaker 10 (36:29):
I was. I was.

Speaker 4 (36:31):
He did say that I.

Speaker 2 (36:33):
Was the third best player on the campus of the
University of Dayton.

Speaker 4 (36:37):
He did, Yes, he did.

Speaker 2 (36:39):
But I was not any fun to play with or
against it. I was whatever I was what Reggie called
Michael Jordan. If your hair isn't playing like it did
in your twenties, might be time for a real comeback.

Speaker 4 (36:54):
The hat isn't there. You go with the hat again.

Speaker 9 (36:57):
I'm waiting on the delivery.

Speaker 2 (36:58):
Then, Okay, start us fold today, make the hat optional.
Visit neutrofold dot com enter the promo code. Dan Patrick,
all right, last call for phone calls?

Speaker 4 (37:07):
What we learn? What's in store tomorrow?

Speaker 5 (37:10):
Eric?

Speaker 4 (37:10):
And salt Lake? Good morning, Eric. What's on your mind today?

Speaker 9 (37:14):
Hey?

Speaker 14 (37:14):
What's a Dan? I got a few things, so keep
it quick. First thing is about your retirement? Yeah, personal question?
How much of this is about it's just time for
you to go and it's that point in your life
versus how much is like streaming, gambling and nil infiltrating
in the sport kind of pushing you in that direction.

Speaker 5 (37:32):
Two?

Speaker 14 (37:33):
What athlete would you love to interview before you retire
that you haven't linked up yet? And Three the streets
are talking and we think that Peacock should pay for
Dylan to go to the Met Gala get absolutely plastered,
and we would love to see that.

Speaker 4 (37:47):
Uh okay.

Speaker 2 (37:48):
I wanted to know what happened when you get into
the met Gala. We see everybody arrive, I don't know
what happens inside. So Pauli said, all right, let me
check the rolodex. And then you got a hold of
Josh Dumel, the actor who was married to Fergie of
the Black Eyed peas.

Speaker 4 (38:03):
Did he tell you what happens when you get in
the doors?

Speaker 8 (38:06):
He said, he has been there, and we're waiting a
text back about what happens when you get inside any minute.

Speaker 2 (38:12):
We don't have many minutes now, he can't be that busy.
Retiring has nothing to do with nil or any of that.
It's still good content. I mean, so that would not
be what drives me out. What was the other thing
that athlete? I think I've interviewed everybody.

Speaker 13 (38:33):
Now.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
I'd take another spin at Jordan, obviously, but I don't
know if there's anybody Tiger's not a good interview. There's
a lot to talk to Tiger about. But I think
Tiger kind of chose not to be a good interview.
If he put his mind to it, he could be

(38:54):
a great interview, but I don't think he's interested in that.
Jordan would be great too, because some of those conversations
we had after he was winning championships on Sports Center
were great because he made them great.

Speaker 4 (39:09):
He was willing to have fun. But then he just
won a title.

Speaker 8 (39:12):
Yes, Paul, I'd love to have you do thirty minutes
plus with Lebron. You were there right when he was
entering the league. You've seen it all and have him
just take off the you know, let it go.

Speaker 4 (39:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (39:24):
I interviewed him a long, long, long time ago. I
was still at the mother Ship, so it's probably been
twenty twenty.

Speaker 4 (39:32):
Three years, No, twenty two years.

Speaker 8 (39:34):
I think we had him on around twenty eleven twelve,
right around there. Oh we did okay on the radio show.
Oh yeah, I got a check. But around eleven or twelve,
right before Miami, I think, or are you sure? I'll check?

Speaker 2 (39:52):
Because there was a Sports Illustrated cover and it says
Dan Patrick interviews Lebron James. I have it in my
office and I would have still been at the mother
Ship when I did that, and I've been gone. What
is it twenty years now that I've been gone from
me ESPN? Yeah, nineteen nineteen, so maybe it was twenty

(40:15):
maybe twenty years ago that I interviewed Lebron. Not much
has happened since then. I can't even do this day
in sports history other than Ron Turcott on this day
ride secretariat to the Kentucky Derby.

Speaker 4 (40:31):
That's what PAULI had. I took it from Todd. You
learned anything today?

Speaker 6 (40:35):
Yes, Reggie Miller would take Raymond Green's career and his
four NBA titles over Carmelo Anthony's It's All About the Chips.

Speaker 9 (40:40):
Dylan Dan, You're no stranger to a ride on the
Soul train.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
I know doing the Pony. We just needed Don Cornelius.
I love Don Cornelie, former Chicago police officer. I believe
Don Cornelius. Marvin, would you learn.

Speaker 4 (40:55):
Fritzy saw bits and pieces of the Devilwar's product.

Speaker 8 (40:58):
Paul, A lot of rundowns to go through.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
