Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
Final Hour on this Tuesday.

Speaker 3 (00:06):
It turned out to be a meet Tuesday because our sponsors,
Heartland State Company, they're going to join us in the
man Cave after the show. I said, well, maybe send
in a shipment and we'll whip up some steaks.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Well that's what we.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Have, the Tomahawk Ribbis Porterhouse steaks, loaded baked potatoes.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Who has it better than we do?

Speaker 3 (00:28):
No NBA on NBC in Peacock tonight in primetime Coast
to Coast, it's the Celtics and the Sixers and then
the Nuggets and the Kings. It all starts at eight
eastern non NBC and Peacock. Speaking of which, Reggie Miller
will join us coming up here in a little bit.
We did speak to Reggie earlier this morning. He had meetings,
and I said, well, why don't you join us before

(00:50):
the show and I can tape something because I did
ask him about Nico Harrison, the GM of the Dallas Mavericks,
and I said, hey, what did he do wrong? You know, yeah,
they trade away Luca, but they got Cooper Flag and
I thought everything's going to be good. Everybody comes back
and they're going to be healthy.

Speaker 2 (01:05):
Steven A.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
Smith said he had Dallas going to the NBA Finals
a couple of weeks ago, and I thought, okay, get
Kyrie Anthony Davis Cooper flag all right, slow start. Fans
were channing fire Nico, and they got their wish. Nico
Harrison has been fired by the Dallas Mavericks.

Speaker 2 (01:25):
Yes, Pauline.

Speaker 4 (01:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:26):
Forty minutes ago, Sham Sharani of ESPN posted the Dallas
Mavericks and owner Patrick Dumont are expected to fire a
general manager Nico Harrison at ten am Central time.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
So just now, yep, right now, right now?

Speaker 3 (01:39):
Yeah, I thought he got a stay of execution because
they fell into the Cooper flag pick.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Yeah, Paul, how do.

Speaker 5 (01:47):
You fire the GM for building the team with the
Cooper flag pick? Because nothing went wrong since the now
if you want to fire, and based on the Luca trade,
that window was a year ago. I don't understand the timing.

Speaker 6 (02:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:02):
I didn't think they gave him enough time because I
got to have Kyrie Irvick.

Speaker 4 (02:05):
Now.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
First of all, I don't want Cooper Flagg playing point.
It's nice when I saw him, you know, in a
training camp preseason I mean, but that's on Jason Kidd.
I don't want Cooper Flagg playing point. And yes, has
he struggled. Absolutely, he's playing like he's eighteen years well,
not really playing like he's eighteen, probably playing like he's twenty.

(02:25):
But he's you know, he's a rookie. Patience here, I mean,
Kyrie's not coming back. Ad looks like he's out of shape.

Speaker 7 (02:34):
Is that on the GM?

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Now, I would have fired him over the Luca trade
for what he didn't get in return, because I don't
want Anthony Davis. I just I don't. He's injury prone,
he's out. Now, I would have I would have gotten
a better offer. It feels like, but you're going to
fire him. I would have give him a little bit

(02:57):
more time to see if this lineup is actually going
to be formidable. But out in the West, yeah, I
mean you got to hold on for dear life because
you've got a lot of really good teams there, Yes, Marvin.

Speaker 8 (03:08):
And it doesn't help that the Lakers are playing really well,
so it makes it makes it look even worse.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Yeah, and Luca's in shape and playing well, and yes,
but I would have fired him over the Luca trade.

Speaker 2 (03:20):
Yes, Pauline.

Speaker 5 (03:21):
I can remember the day after the Luca trade, you
said something that's stuck with Hey, what if Luca gets
in shape and you let a generational, a true generational
European player.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Leafy, And that's what happened.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
You just can't you know when he's trying to tell
me that defense wins championships. Okay, how about other guys
play defense. He's gonna play offense. Okay, Uh, I mean
we get caught up in that. Man, you got to
play and I understand defense. I understand it. Golden State's
defense was underrated during their championship run. Nobody ever said

(03:58):
Steph Curry could play defense. Nobody said Larry Bird can
play defense. I mean, that's why you have guys who
play defense. Robert Parrish and Dennis Johnson played defense for
the Celtics. Larry you play offense. Steve Nash can't play defense.
Steve you play offense. We'll get some other guys who

(04:18):
are gonna play defense here. But we get caught.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
Up in that, and I'm like, Okay, I still like
having Luca.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
If he's getting thirty a night and he's not in shape,
at some point, if he does get motivated, look out, Yes,
tod Sports is a.

Speaker 9 (04:35):
Very rare form as far as getting fired. Most of
the jobs, they call you in and you get the
pink slip. You don't assign it for two and a
half hours from now. It's like, just want to look,
you know, you're gonna get fired at one thirty pm
Eastern time. Lea's fund that very interesting. Of all the
world of jobs, sports is the only place where they're
gonna let you know that they're gonna be announcing this
in a few hours.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
From now, and they're gonna let everybody know that you're
getting fired. You know, it's out on social media. You know,
if we would get fired at a job, nobody knows
you get caught, you know, called in and you owe them,
Uh you're gonna get fired. And it was never parting
of the ways or we're going in a different direction.
Back then when I was growing up, you got you know,

(05:12):
people got fired. It wasn't you know what a different philosophy,
different game plan, we're going in a different direction now.
Back then, it was just like, uh, yeah, we're gonna
fire you. Okay, yes, Dylan.

Speaker 10 (05:25):
Well, to Tom's point, it's like the whole world knows
how much money you're making. Yeah, when and if you're
gonna get fired, they get to like publicly comment on it.

Speaker 3 (05:35):
No surprises anymore, all right, So we'll talk to Reggie
once again. We talked to him and recorded the interview
prior to the show, and we did talk about Nico
and and the Maps. Eagles over the Packers ten to seven.
And I'd like to say I got a good handle
on both of these teams, but I do not. Philadelphia
still is wonky, and Green Bay I keep waiting for

(06:01):
them to be great, and they might just be good.
And then I'm looking at some of the games Seattle
against the Rams. You got Detroit, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Denver, Chargers, Jacksonville, Chicago, Minnesota, Tampa,
and Buffalo. This might be the best week we've had
so far. But if this was college football, we would

(06:22):
call it separation Saturday. But this is separation Sunday. It
feels like with Detroit at Philadelphia, Kansas City at Denver,
Seattle and the Rams.

Speaker 7 (06:35):
Man, that's good.

Speaker 3 (06:37):
And then you got Tampa at Buffalo. By the way,
Thursday night, you got the Jets at New England. All right,
So been a quick two hours here, covered a lot
of ground talked some NBA I'm watching last night Victor
winbn Yama went for thirty eight and twelve and five blocks.

(06:59):
He had a teen of his thirty eight in the
fourth quarter. The Bulls as a team scored nineteen points
in the fourth quarter. How about the Cabs attempting sixty
five to three pointers. That's the most since twenty nineteen.
They took one hundred and twenty shots in an overtime
loss to the Heat. And then you had Kad Cunningham.

(07:21):
He put up forty five shots. He was fourteen to
forty five, so he missed thirty one shots. That hasn't
happened since nineteen sixty seven.

Speaker 10 (07:33):
STATU the day start of to day stat.

Speaker 7 (07:36):
Of the day started the day.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
STATU the day.

Speaker 10 (07:40):
Start to day start of the day start at.

Speaker 6 (07:43):
The third.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
Saturdayday.

Speaker 3 (07:46):
Brought to you by Penny America, the official trading cards
to the Dan Patrick Show. I think Wilt was thirty
six for sixty three when he scored one hundred points,
and he was twenty. He made twenty eight free throws
to score one hundred. I don't know if anybody's had
more attempts than Wilt did in a game. I think

(08:10):
it was sixty three field goal attempts that he had.
That was nineteen sixty two, Yeah.

Speaker 7 (08:17):
PAULI yeah, he was thirty six of sixty three.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
Okay, and I'm gonna guess most of those shots were
from five feet in yes, Marvin, Yeah.

Speaker 8 (08:27):
Kate Cunningham his green light, it's fluorescing. It is fluorescing
green forty six. Hey, past the ball, Kobe, My goodness,
he is up there with Mike, Kobe and Will.

Speaker 5 (08:39):
Yes, Paul, who is the only other active NBA player
who's taken forty five or more shots in a game?
Lightly surprising.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Anthony Davis.

Speaker 5 (08:53):
No, okay, this guy's the focal point of his team's offense,
especially in the playoffs. East Coast Guy Tree Young Jalen
Brunson forty seven shots for the next two years.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Ago, okay, So Willed had the most shots in the
game sixty three.

Speaker 5 (09:09):
Yes, I've got modern era from basically eighty on. Okay, Kobe, Kobe,
Kobe's your leader. He is taking taking forty five or
more shots in a game four times. Nobody else has
done it twice, including Michael Jordan took forty nine. Jalen

(09:31):
brunts took forty seven, Chris Weber, You'll win a bet
with that to forty seven gun gunner Kobe Bryant had
a fifty shot game, a forty seven, a forty six,
and a forty five and a bunch in the forties.

Speaker 3 (09:46):
It takes a lot of energy to put up that
many squeeze off that many shots.

Speaker 11 (09:50):
There?

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Uh, Gary in Ohio?

Speaker 6 (09:54):
Hi?

Speaker 2 (09:54):
Gary, Hello, Gary, Yes, welcome to the show.

Speaker 12 (10:05):
Looking at an article from January ninth, nineteen seventy four
that says, Pew and faiths and Pew, mister inside, mister
outside has a picture of you, Dan Pew in a
Mason uniform number twenty four.

Speaker 2 (10:25):
Yep. What's it saying there.

Speaker 12 (10:31):
That says you were flashy, You were mister hot when
you were on the only way to stop you was
with a gun. And the league kind of frowned upon that.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Yeah it was mister outside. But yeah, thank you, Gary. Yeah,
I like that. The League frowned upon that. The only
way to stop me was with a gun. But the
League frowned upon that. That's good, they frowned upon it. Yes,
And by the way, I don't think anybody was trying
to use a gun against me. I don't blame him

(11:03):
if they did, but I don't think anybody did that. Yes, Dylan,
so that.

Speaker 7 (11:07):
Was the actual quote in the newspaper. Yes, I'm not
gonna lie. I didn't really believe you before, but now
I do. Why wouldn't you believe me? It sounded. I'm
surprised they put that in the paper.

Speaker 2 (11:17):
Well, no, it was real.

Speaker 7 (11:19):
Well yeah, now that Gary called in.

Speaker 3 (11:21):
Yeah, no, there's a newspaper clipping that came out yesterday.
I'm a little disappointed that maybe you should stay in
the back room and not be out here.

Speaker 2 (11:31):
I take it back, I hit it, and I'll give
you a mulligan.

Speaker 9 (11:36):
Yes, Tom, you think there was some shooters embellishment there?
I think is what are accusing?

Speaker 2 (11:40):
No, there wasn't. Larry Bird tells this story.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Larry Bird is getting ready to play in a game
I don't know the city, but coach Casey Jones comes
up to Larry and says, hey, there's a death threat
on you. And then Casey Jones says, Larry Bird, I'm
gonna leave it up to you. If you don't want
to play, you know, then we'll we'll go without you.

(12:07):
If you want to go back in locker room and
wait till the end of the game, Silari goes, I'm
gonna play. So then Casey Jones says, Hey, when I
call the guys to huddle up, can you stand about
twenty feet away just in case somebody you know would
be shooting towards the huddle.

Speaker 6 (12:27):
Sensitive.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
So Bird goes over in the huddle and puts his
arm around Casey Jones. Uh, that's great. Great, all right,
couple of phone calls in here. How about Jack in Virginia? Hi, Jack,
thanks for holding.

Speaker 12 (12:46):
Corner.

Speaker 13 (12:46):
Guys.

Speaker 14 (12:47):
How are we doing good?

Speaker 2 (12:47):
Jack?

Speaker 12 (12:49):
So good?

Speaker 14 (12:49):
Hey, first time, long time here, six to one in
a soft one seventy five.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Thank you, hey quick.

Speaker 14 (12:57):
Shout out here to my father Off for introducing me
to you guys several years ago. And shout out to
my brother in law as well today on veteran Day,
who's served in the Marines.

Speaker 4 (13:06):
I love you guys.

Speaker 14 (13:08):
Hey, I've got to go back, and I know relevancy
is key in the business, but I've got a circle
back here and talk about the pay it forward idea
that you guys were discussing earlier this morning. Curious if
you guys have seen the Tim Robinson's skit from the show.
I think you should leave where he pulls up to
the driver through line. He starts this paid forward line.

(13:29):
He's acting all nice and he goes, you know, who knows,
maybe this will catch on. He puts this order in
and then he kind of seriously whips around the drive
through line to the end, hoping it catches on. He
pulls back up to the line and he tries to
order just an insane amount of food, and then it
all just kind of blows up from there.

Speaker 2 (13:45):
It's hilarious.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
You guys got to check it out maybe during a
break if you can. But that's what I had for you.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
So thank you, Jack.

Speaker 7 (13:51):
Thank you.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
Jim in Michigan, Hi Jim, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 4 (13:56):
Well, thank you again for taking my call. I've got
a comment and some information regarding your proposed retirement. I'm
you're going to do a classy and I just want
to say, we'll have the memories if nothing else. However,
you play it out. It's your decision and I would
wouldn't succumb to the pressure you're getting on all this.

Speaker 11 (14:14):
Now.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
My other my other information regarding the colors that are
used on uniforms. I come from an industry that was
involved with Emblematic with collegiate sales, and there are there's
a thing called HTML which is a special digital code
which specifies any color you can think of, probably thousands
of them, which would obtain to the NFL and other

(14:37):
teams also, but for collegiate settings for Emblematic where that
kind of thing is. So there is a there is
a system in place to identify the color with a name,
which would solve some of your discussions there as far
as well.

Speaker 2 (14:51):
The Eagles colors are terrible, so thank.

Speaker 7 (14:53):
You, Jim.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
I get the green is too dark. It's you need
a little bit of contract there. That's my problem with it.

Speaker 4 (15:02):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
Boogams in Tampa, Hey, Boogams, Booghams Daniel.

Speaker 13 (15:12):
I have a first uh by the way six three
and a Miller lighted two to eighty Uh first time,
long time, very long time. I have a pie to
the face for anybody that wants to take it. Due
to some confidence. I have an upcoming coaching hire. Hey,
I have Lane Kiffen definitely going to Florida. Now there's

(15:35):
a lot of smoke around this. I know a lot
of jobs out there, but Lane has very deep roots
of Gainesville his ex father in law, Gator legend, Gator
Hall of Fame, And look at the betting lines are
all trending in the right direction right now, and I
just feel very, very confident Lane's gonna stop.

Speaker 2 (15:51):
Off on Gainesville before he goes his next joint. Uh.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
Anybody want a piece of boogems that Lane Kiffin goes
to Florida to Paulie.

Speaker 5 (16:01):
Yeah, I'll take that one, all right, Dylan, Yeah, I
think he stays at Ole mess All right, you got
a two for here, pie to the face.

Speaker 11 (16:10):
That's great.

Speaker 13 (16:11):
Yeah, we got rid of sling Blade and now we're
moving on to beautiful Lane.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
So all right, look about it.

Speaker 3 (16:15):
I mentioned this to Paulie, what about Lane kiffen to
the New York Giants coaching Jackson Dart, maybe going back
to the NFL after what happened when he was there
the first time around.

Speaker 5 (16:31):
Yeah, Paulie, I poo pooed this when you text it
last night. I did a light poo pooing on it,
but I've given it more thought. It's actually an interesting
smart move. If you're tired of the college everything that
is involved in college coaching, you can go to the
Giants and if it doesn't work out, you get easily
returned to the college almost of your choice in three

(16:53):
to four years, So there's no downside to it.

Speaker 7 (16:55):
Yes, Dylan, it is the Giants though.

Speaker 3 (16:59):
Yeah, they are conservative, but they've done a pretty poor
job in hiring coaches. How about John Gruden?

Speaker 7 (17:06):
I'll pass on that.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
That's a hard pass on Gruden. His windows over. How
about John Gruden to Florida? Oh, you think John Gruden
doesn't get another job?

Speaker 5 (17:18):
Not pro I shouldn't say this on air. I would
bet that the NFL would encourage their teams to not
hire him. Off the record.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
Oh, okay, so you're pooh pooing that.

Speaker 7 (17:29):
I'm totally poo pooing.

Speaker 5 (17:30):
There was a light pooh pooing on.

Speaker 3 (17:31):
All right, let me take a break. Reggie Miller will
join us coming up. We're back after this in The
Dan Patrick Show.

Away, man, this is a mess down at LSU with
Brian Kelly. Not that they could screw it up anymore
than they did, but they did. And Brian Kelly is
he's going all in for his fifty four million dollars
and he's owed fifty four million dollars. It doesn't seem
like he's going to play nice with LSU. Oh my goodness.

(18:40):
College rankings. The new rankings come out later on tonight.
The Colonel in Tampa, Hey, Colonel.

Speaker 11 (18:48):
Hey, Dan, good morning morning. Listen. Eleventh you know, eleventh month,
eleventh day, eleventh hour. Thank you so much for expressing
your thoughts on the Veteran's Day. You and my father served,
my father in law served, my son went to the
Air Force Academy. I served a little bit and means
a lot, but listen. Hearing about your dad really meant
a lot to me too. Korea was a tough fight,

(19:09):
and you know, thank you Dan for your dad's service.

Speaker 6 (19:13):
And change the subject.

Speaker 11 (19:15):
I'll lead some crow. I know she's not there today,
but good win by the Patriots and at least Heaton
and I share combret.

Speaker 2 (19:22):
Thank you, colonel, Thank you.

Speaker 3 (19:26):
We talked to Reggie Miller earlier this morning, so about
three hours ago, and this was before the news that
Nico Harrison has been fired as the GM of the
Dallas Mavericks. So you will hear me ask Reggie about
the MAVs and Nico Harrison. He will be on the
call tonight. It's Coast to Coast at eight eastern on
NBC in Peacock. It'll be Reggie with Mike Tarico and

(19:50):
they will have the game. I opened up the interview
with Reggie and I talked about Cad Cunningham with forty
six shots but it came and to win, and I
asked him the most shots that he ever took in
a game in his career.

Speaker 15 (20:05):
It's the most points I ever scored in a game,
fifty seven versus Charlotte, and I believe I took twenty
seven shots, and I was literally exhausted after that game.
But that was nothing when you look at like MJ,
Kobe Carmelo, those volume scores.

Speaker 6 (20:28):
They put up a lot of attempts.

Speaker 15 (20:30):
I was more on the efficiency side.

Speaker 6 (20:34):
I tried.

Speaker 15 (20:35):
I think during the course of a game, if I
got up eighteen shots, I thought that was pretty good
because a lot of few of those were threes. I
was getting to the diffree throw lines. That's how I
got my you know, twenty two to thirty. Was just
being a little bit more efficient.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
I got you with twenty nine shots in that game.

Speaker 6 (20:56):
Twenty nine, okay, twenty nine in that game.

Speaker 3 (20:58):
Twenty nine, yeah, okay, sixteen exhaust Yeah, exhausted. That's what
I tell people when I would see Iverson, as small
as he is, but he had to put up at
least twenty five shots a game. That was their offense
went through him. I don't know how you know, Mike
and Kobe, those guys who you knew they had to shoot,

(21:20):
they knew they had to shoot, and to put up
those shots every single night. I mean, imagine if I
said to you, you got to put up twenty nine
shots a game.

Speaker 6 (21:29):
No way, there's just no way.

Speaker 15 (21:31):
I mean, people don't understand the physical toll it takes
to score at an elite level.

Speaker 6 (21:38):
In the NBA.

Speaker 15 (21:39):
Now granted, and think about this, he had forty five
field goal attempts. Remember he kid got foul on a
few shots too, so that easily could have been like
fifty field goal to tymps that he was attempting. And
this is coming off a game the night before, so
think about the exhaustion that he's going through. He took

(22:00):
a hard foul in that game. But at the end
of the day you highlighted this. They won the game
and overtime, and what a game that was. I think
they're up to seven games in a row now. It's
one of those sneaky stories in the in this Eastern
Conference that really no one is talking about because they
got off to such a slow start this season.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
Kobe took fifty shots. That was his last game I
think against the Jet fifty. Wow, people understand at the
end of his career, He's taken fifty against Hilly's injury.

Speaker 15 (22:33):
Yes, last game of your you know what, But I
that I can see because look, if I'm gonna go out,
this is my last game. This is my targeted goal. Fitty,
I'm going for fitty field goal to TIMPs.

Speaker 2 (22:47):
By the way, what's wrong with your Pacers?

Speaker 6 (22:51):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (22:53):
Okay? But still they've had a lot of injuries.

Speaker 15 (22:57):
Okay, it's been a it's been a very very difficult
cold start to this season for Rick carl Ale and
the Pacers.

Speaker 6 (23:02):
Look, it wasn't going to be easy.

Speaker 15 (23:05):
And you know, judging from that first game when nim
Hard went down versus the okay, see and there, they've
had a rash of injuries and look, they are a
team that when.

Speaker 6 (23:19):
Their whole, they're great. When there's a few parts missing
it in the Maserati, it's like a Pinto Pino old school.
That's old school. You remember those Pinal cars?

Speaker 2 (23:34):
I do, I do. What's the worst car you ever drove? O?

Speaker 6 (23:41):
Remember those Suzuki's, Dodge Suzuki's.

Speaker 15 (23:44):
I believe it was Corey Gaines, my my roommate. You
see away he let me drive his Dodge Suzuki occasionally.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
Wait, that's what they were paying players that you.

Speaker 6 (23:57):
Show they weren't paying His parents were. They had a
little bit of money, so he let me drive his
dogs to Zuki.

Speaker 2 (24:06):
We're talking to Reggie Miller.

Speaker 3 (24:08):
He'll be on the call with Mike Tarico tonight and
it's the Celtics and the Sixers. Where is Joel Embiid
Now like this physically because I know they got one
of the best backcoards, but Embiid is the key.

Speaker 6 (24:22):
He's the key, and he's still on a minister restriction.

Speaker 15 (24:26):
I think they're hovering him around twenty five or twenty six,
and I think that's going to be the master plan
going forward for this season.

Speaker 6 (24:35):
I think you've heard or you've seen a few comments.

Speaker 15 (24:38):
Come that he's come out and said, look, I'd rather
stay home and not play if you're going to keep
me on this minister restriction.

Speaker 6 (24:44):
I think the Sixers are in this situation. Damned if
you do.

Speaker 15 (24:49):
Damned if you don't, because if you increase this minute
now and he gets hurt, everyone's going to jump up
in arms and be like, well, we told you to
put him on a minister restriction, and if he's on
a restriction, you've got the player Embiid crying about playing
more minutes. This is the safe approach because Dan, you
know this, he's injury from right and you want to

(25:14):
have the most healthiest version of Joel Embiid come April
and May, because we haven't seen that over the last
several seasons.

Speaker 6 (25:24):
Heck, we haven't even seen Paul.

Speaker 15 (25:25):
George this year, so we don't know what versions of
the Sixers we're gonna see. You just mentioned this. They
do have one of the best basket back courts. In fact,
they're leading all back courts and scoring between Edgecombe and MAXI.
So I know what I'm getting there, But you're right
if Embiid is healthy, and to me, this is what

(25:48):
the approach I would take if I'm Nick Nurse and
I am the staff of the Sixers once the All
Star breaks, I would take this approach all the way
up to the All Star break. Once the All Star
Break goes, every game after that it increases one to
two minutes.

Speaker 6 (26:03):
So by the.

Speaker 15 (26:03):
Time, because you only play about twenty five to thirty
games after the All Star break, I would increase his
usage one to two minutes every game, and by the
end of the regular season he's up to thirty four
thirty five, which that that's kind of what you would want,
and then you would hope he's in good enough shape

(26:24):
come playoff time when the level goes through the roof
that he's ready to go, but I need him healthy
in the end, and he hasn't shown that he can
do that, so keep him on the minister restriction.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
Jeff t on his podcast got into a discussion about
Joker versus Shack. How how would they do against each other.
They were talking about Shaq in Orlando would dominate Joker,
but Joker with Shack after that, Joker, you know, because

(26:57):
he's inside outside that he would probably drive Shack crazy.

Speaker 15 (27:04):
And let me first start saying, you know, we're playing
in today's rules or we played in the Shack's rules
in the ninety early thousands, Like which one do we
get to do? Does Shaq get to get it in
the post and turn and elt? You know, this was
Shack's favorite move and he got away with it today's game,
he wouldn't be able to get away with that.

Speaker 6 (27:21):
So which rules are we playing with?

Speaker 2 (27:23):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (27:24):
If you said let's play today's rules and I got
Shack at his peak and Joker at his peak, who
you got?

Speaker 15 (27:30):
The fact dominates in any era, let me start by
saying that, Okay, so it wouldn't matter. I just think
they would put Shaq in a jazillion picking rolls in
today's game and get him out of the paint. Shaq
would have to cover more paint. Now, I do agree
Orlando Shaq, who is nimble and skinnier and could run

(27:54):
all day, I think he would thrive. I still think
the most dominant of Shaq when he was in LA
and much bigger, he would still have an effect on
the game.

Speaker 6 (28:05):
How would he do versus Joker? I mean I would
love it. Well, I would love to see I'm still
going with a big fella.

Speaker 15 (28:12):
Look Shack, he died, he denied me on a lot
of occasions. I never got a chance to play. Obviously
play against the Joker. But the Joker, this boy is bad.
I think he's already one of the top what four
or five centers in my opinion, Kareem Shack.

Speaker 6 (28:31):
I mean you could.

Speaker 15 (28:32):
Throw Wilt in there, Moses Malone. Now, are we considering
Akeema center? Because to me, if I was doing an
all time team, that chem would be my power forward.

Speaker 2 (28:44):
Yeah, I have to put him at center.

Speaker 15 (28:46):
Okay, Yeah, so you know jokers in that conversation, no question.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
But you would take Shack over him, a team over him.

Speaker 6 (28:58):
I would take Shack.

Speaker 15 (29:01):
I'm taking Kareem, then you gotta start thinking where Joker
falls there?

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Uh, Joker makes it look easy. Yeah, and he could
have played back in the nineties because he's a big
guy and you know he would take you to the
See Shaq never would guard Joker. They wouldn't let Shack
guard Joker.

Speaker 6 (29:26):
Here's my argument why I love.

Speaker 15 (29:30):
The Joker because every time I see big fella Shack,
he's always he always says Rick Smith's gave him fits.
So if Rick Smith's at seven four gave him fits, yeah,
then what would Joker do?

Speaker 16 (29:45):
Oh?

Speaker 15 (29:46):
Yes, right, So if he's telling me always, oh my god,
Rick Smith's he I had no answer for him. So
if he's saying that about Rick and Rick was unbelievable.
Don't get me wrong, love me Rick, But what would
Joker do to him? Then? If that was the case,
you know, Shaq gets kind of caught up at times
in his feelings because you know, he gets caught in

(30:11):
his feelings at times because look, Joker is a two
three time MVP, two times three times three time MVP.
He's wanted chip see the only thing that's missing now
from his resume another title.

Speaker 6 (30:25):
If he gets another.

Speaker 15 (30:26):
Title or two, then the conversation is really valid, really valid,
because we know Shack has four.

Speaker 3 (30:33):
So is Shaq trying to state his case like a
preemptive Hey, before you put Joker ahead of me, don't
forget what I.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
Did exactly, Okay.

Speaker 15 (30:42):
But we'll never forget Shack. I will certainly never forget
Shack and what he did to my beloved Pacers.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
The Mavericks situation, now they're they're chanting fire Nico. Why
can't they be patient there in Dallas that you do
have guys that are injured coming back, but now you
want Nico, you wanted him out. Then you win the lottery,
you get Cooper flag and everything's great, and now you're
not playing well and now they want to fire the GM.

Speaker 15 (31:13):
Well because they expected Cooper to have a victor women
Yama rookie season and it's not been. It hasn't been
quite that the injuries. Anthony Davis has been hurt. Obviously,
no Kyrie all season. It's going to be hard to
judge his team until Kyrie and a d get back.

Speaker 2 (31:33):
Ad looks pretty big, have you seen him, Yes, he does.
He's a big man.

Speaker 6 (31:39):
What's going on in Dallas? Because that's what they used
to say about.

Speaker 3 (31:45):
Right, Yeah, imagine how much you would have waited if
you played in Dallas.

Speaker 15 (31:48):
Good lord, is that Texas barbecue really that good?

Speaker 2 (31:53):
You would have been Rick Mahorne, you know, yeah, I.

Speaker 15 (31:57):
Mean play struggling, shooting the bath. So look, this team
is hard to judge until Jason Kidd can get them
all together and they start playing. But the problem with
that is you're in the Western Conference. There's no time,
you know, to figure it out. You've got to hit
the ground rolling in the Western Conference. So look, you

(32:20):
know they're always going to be chanting fire and Nico.
They were doing that last season, and then you look
at Luca and what the Lakers are doing. So of course,
you know that kind of adds a little bit of fields.

Speaker 7 (32:32):
Yeah, definitely.

Speaker 2 (32:33):
Maybe Claysy in love.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
Maybe that's what you know, it's not the role of
being in love, but maybe it's affected his game.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
You know, who's he going out with? Nicki Minaj?

Speaker 7 (32:43):
Is that? Who's going to?

Speaker 6 (32:45):
Meghan the Stallions?

Speaker 3 (32:47):
There you go, come on, come on, you sho Meghan Valli?

Speaker 15 (32:56):
Is it?

Speaker 6 (32:58):
Yes?

Speaker 7 (32:59):
E me okay?

Speaker 2 (33:02):
Megan's Stallion.

Speaker 15 (33:03):
Yes, she's a lovely, lovely girl. From what I understanding,
here of course. And we all love Clay. I love
me some Clay Thompson. You'll turn it around. Shoot or shoot.

Speaker 3 (33:15):
Oh, by the way, I saw the video where you
were shooting a couple.

Speaker 2 (33:18):
Was that a couple of days ago?

Speaker 7 (33:19):
Where yes, it was.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
It was like.

Speaker 6 (33:23):
People think, I'm looking for a.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
No I am, No, I'm that was impressive. That was
I just one of.

Speaker 6 (33:30):
The people to understand that. And you and I talk
about this all the time.

Speaker 15 (33:35):
That will be the last thing that will ever leave me.
I can always shoot. So someone's going to tell me
to shoot? Come on, man, I can do that all day.
That's easy.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
Have fun tonight. Tell my stri Rico we said alone.

Speaker 15 (33:48):
We love us, I Michael too, Rico, buddy.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
Reggie Miller. Once again, that was before Nico Harrison was fired.
The Mavericks had fired their general manager. All right, we'll
take a break, last call for phone calls, what we learn,

All righty Paul in Washington, Paul, what do you have
for me today?

Speaker 17 (34:53):
Good morning, Dan, I have to day off for Veterans
Day and I'm a Yes Army veteran. Thank you for
your support of the veterans over the years. Before I
forget six, I have to thank my friend Denise Alaska
for turning around to your show. And I listened to
Kevin Harland and Ross Tucker. I'm Football is the radio
broadcast last night because I didn't want to pay five

(35:14):
dollars to watch ESPN for one night and Ross was
very entertaining and have to listen to Ross for a
whole game. I have to say Todd's Kevin Harland impersonation
is much more of a Marv Albert impersonation in my opinion.

Speaker 2 (35:28):
Okay, there was a little more of Albert that's man.
Did anohing wrong with that?

Speaker 3 (35:31):
Combined the two Thank you Paul, and my thanks to
Ross Talker field in for me on Friday? Dave in Colorado,
Hi Dave, what's on your mind today?

Speaker 16 (35:43):
Hey Dan, first time long time listener formerly known as
five to eleven and a half. Hey, I know it's
a day late, but my best of the weekend was
Fritzy walking around in the back and his Mark Davis outfit,
trying to figure out a way to get him to

(36:05):
wear that on the flight out to Vegas. If there's
some kind of bet I can do, like maybe how
many over under on how many times he disappoints you?

Speaker 3 (36:15):
Oh, well, I don't want to get we don't want
to get to double digits.

Speaker 7 (36:20):
Nice?

Speaker 3 (36:20):
Uh maybe maybe Kansas City and Denver. Maybe a bet
on that that you have to wear your Mark Davis
waiting on the phone bring it time?

Speaker 9 (36:29):
Well, one embarrassment isn't enough for three.

Speaker 2 (36:31):
Hours Kansas City at Denver? How about just straight up?

Speaker 9 (36:37):
What's the bet I either have to wear a wig
again or not?

Speaker 7 (36:40):
That what happens on the other.

Speaker 6 (36:41):
End of that.

Speaker 9 (36:42):
Umm, I don't know if they have to flush that
out a little Bit's only Tuesday.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
Okay, all right, I'll try to come up with something.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
But if the Broncos lose it Home to the Chiefs,
I can't have you dress up as anybody else because
that means you've you lose, no matter what. What is
the yeah, no, no, no, it doesn't matter. They're straight up.
It's Denver at home against the Chiefs.

Speaker 9 (37:05):
Find out a lot about the Broncos and the Chiefs
on something.

Speaker 2 (37:08):
Yes we will. Anthony in Minnesota, Hi, Anthony, it.

Speaker 18 (37:12):
Did Hey something Todd could dress up as there. You
can make them dress up as Mahomes for a day
and he has to talk like Mahomes Friday. But the
original thing I was gonna call you for again. Happy
veterans data everyone, A good idea for your before your retirement.
I think it'd be really interesting to have each day
net host for one day and then you can hang

(37:33):
out in their chair and just watch them kind of
fumble through, especially probably Todd, and then one thing for
Dylan and then I'm done.

Speaker 2 (37:40):
Dylan.

Speaker 18 (37:41):
If you're really looking into gambling, so you should really
look into options trading. It's a lot more educated, and
you can actually make a lot more money. I'd like
to say, but it's kind of all I got for
your guys, happy veterans data everybody out there, all.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
Right, well, thank you. How about some options trading, Dylan.

Speaker 6 (37:55):
Are you?

Speaker 10 (37:56):
I am fully in the weeds with options. Trading is
well done, so so if it's a version of gambling,
I've discovered it.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
Well.

Speaker 7 (38:04):
I've done all right though, and gotten host in gambling. Well.

Speaker 2 (38:09):
Options, Oh yeah, but gambling you haven't done very well.

Speaker 10 (38:11):
Gambling I've done this year not so much, but I've
done okay. And obviously I'm a losing gambler like everyone
anyone who says they're not its lit.

Speaker 3 (38:19):
Yeah, they're varying degrees of losing gambler. Yes, NBA MVP odds.
According to DraftKings, it's SGA, then it's a joker. Luca Jannis,
Victor and Kate Cunningham also in the mix. There this
day in sports history, Paul, I.

Speaker 7 (38:37):
Got a few for you.

Speaker 5 (38:38):
This was a great one. Nineteen eighty one. Fernando Valenzuela
of the Dodgers first pitcher to win Rookie of the Year,
and Cy Young in the same season what a phenomenon
that was.

Speaker 2 (38:47):
Would have been awkward if he won the cy Young
but not the Rookie of the Year.

Speaker 7 (38:50):
Don't you think unfair?

Speaker 2 (38:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (38:52):
The eighty one Minnesota north Stars scored eight goals in
a period against the Winnipeg Jets. I always missed the
old north Stars great logo. Derek Thomas nineteen ninety of
the Chiefs set the NFL record with seven sacks in
the game against the Seahawks. Remember watching that dominant nineteen
ninety seven Roger Clemens. Third major league player to win
the cy Young four times Barry Bonds and two first

(39:15):
major league player to win the MVP five times.

Speaker 3 (39:19):
On this date in two thousand and four, the shortest
player in NBA history to score thirty points happened. Who
is the shortest player to score thirty or more points?
Two thousand and four, Marvin, I'm gonna start.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
With you, Earl. How about that?

Speaker 11 (39:42):
All right?

Speaker 3 (39:43):
That wasn't much of a game. Earl scored thirty two points.
He was five feet five, five feet five. I think
he's still five foot five.

Speaker 8 (39:52):
Thinks hell yet, I don't know.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
He might be five foot four. I mean I lost
in chinch and a half yes.

Speaker 9 (40:00):
Where were Muggy bogs and spread websites?

Speaker 3 (40:03):
Spud Web was five seven, Muggsy was five to three,
but Muggsy obviously didn't get to thirty points.

Speaker 7 (40:13):
I was just curious.

Speaker 5 (40:13):
Thank you, Tony Earl Boykins play thirteen.

Speaker 3 (40:18):
Years Yeah, yeah, yeah, at five five. That's where you
have him and Victor winb Ben Yama standing next to
each other.

Speaker 6 (40:27):
Don't do that.

Speaker 2 (40:28):
That's like Kevin Hart next to the shack. That's true.
Kevin Hart.

Speaker 3 (40:32):
He doesn't look short until you stand next to him
and you go he is short. Let's see, let's go
around the room. Did we learn anything today? Tonto's start
with you.

Speaker 2 (40:41):
Would you learn?

Speaker 9 (40:42):
I think we did learn a few things. Chase Daniel Phields,
Jackson Dart used to be one to slide more in
order to avoid injury.

Speaker 2 (40:46):
Yeah, I can't put all of it on Brian Dable. Now.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
Did he get him out of the Blue tent too soon?
Or maybe we didn't really call them concussions. I don't
know that, but that's not enough to fire him. Dylan,
would you learn?

Speaker 7 (41:00):
The only way to stop you is with a gun?

Speaker 2 (41:02):
And league rules frowned upon that, Marvin.

Speaker 8 (41:05):
When it comes to Steaks, You're a stripper.

Speaker 7 (41:08):
Ull Steak Tuesday question mark.

Speaker 3 (41:10):
My thanks to Reggie Miller and Chase Daniel and you.
Thank you for watching, thank you for listening. Maybe you're
doing both. Our pleasure to serve you for Fritzie, Dylan, Marv, Paulie,
yours truly have a great day.
