Speaker 1 (00:00):
You are listening to the Dan Patrick Show on Fox
Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
All right, our last hour, it's gonna be action packed.
We got Big Poppy baseball thevia as he calls it,
your chance to win our summer prize. Pack some grilling
aprons and cooozies. It saw multiple choice and Big Poppy
is always fun, even though he's scrumpy because it's early
here in for Dan Patrick. So join us Monday through Friday,

(00:26):
two to four in the West, five to seven on
the East. Everything at Covino and Rich. I'm Steve Cavino.
That is Rich Davis, the Tiger Boy Tiger Style. How
many tiger shirts.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
Do you have, by the way, it's a graphic T
shirt with a tiger back. How many do you have?

Speaker 2 (00:40):
You're wearing a jacket and it's one hundred degrees in
the summer. No, it's freezing in the studio. That's why
we're wearing a jacket. You're in a jacket in July.
It's no, it's freezing in the studio. Your bonehead. And
of course Danny Hilly Hilly, Yeah, I am and Danny
G's our super producer. Iowa Sam is on the Glockenspiel
and We appreciate you Fox where it's Radio Nation for

(01:01):
being here again. If you want to watch the show,
if you want to see his tiger style, like he's
in the like he's in the Wu Tang clan or something.
If you want to see my sweet bomber jacket and
watch what you hear, everything's at YouTube dot com, slash
at Covino and Rich FSR. In fact, the live chats
pop in. We got real mister Franz, we got Backgunner,

(01:21):
we got Gust the bus mouser, Steve Rotcho. A lot
of people chiming in Rich saying basket expensive because guy,
he's not wearing.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Headphones, say he's wearing earmuffs.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
I wanted to bring up too much how much was
that thing to break your glove in? Though you never
told us how much? It was? Twenty bucks?

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Twenty bucks.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
So as a matter of if do you pay twenty
dollars at Dick's Sporting Goods to have them break in
the glove for you with this new handy dandy, it's
innovative machines.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Nothing new.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
I'm just new to the Like my kid's obsessed with
baseball stuff, so I'm like, you know, buying all the
gear and doing all the stuff. But and by the way,
we're getting it on your back saying saying it's not
just California. You're out of your mind to think it's
only California where kids are spending all their parents' money
on new bats and helmets and slide.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
I know gear is next level. I know all these
little kids are wearing their little necklaces and they think they're,
you know, baseball superstars with all their extra how do
you dos and bracelets and slides and socks and outfits.
And I get all that, but I don't think every
kid has a three four hundred dollars bat. I know
you guys are the experts, but I find that very

(02:24):
hard to believe.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Well, I mean when you say every kid, no, but
if you're making it seem like it's an LA thing, no,
it's a no go in baseball culture thing.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
Okay. I mean, I'm not going to argue that bats
are expensive. I know that.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Yeah, so you think like in a little league everybody
you think in a pony ball league or a little
league in some small town they're using like big barrel
Eastons from the eighty seven.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
No, I'm not thinking that at all. You said every
kid has a three four hundred dollars bat. I'm like,
not every kid. He probably has to beg the kid
that could afford it. Could I use your bat? The
same way those clay bats were a thing ceramic bat.
I'm sorry when we were kidded, the new TPX came
out and you had to beg the ridge kid, Can
I use your badges for one one at bat?

Speaker 4 (03:07):
But nobody had them when we were kids. Also, you
shared helmets with other kids, which looking back, was gross,
But I still think it's funny that every kid has
their own helmet.

Speaker 3 (03:17):
But did you have your own helmet?

Speaker 2 (03:18):
No, of course not.

Speaker 4 (03:19):
You just hope that the kidd and your team didn't
have dirty hit licee head.

Speaker 2 (03:23):
All right, So what were your two questions? Because we
got to talk more World Cup? I have a just
a random question about the World Cup.

Speaker 4 (03:30):
I've three three sports notes and then we'll move along
to some World Cup. Actually, on number one, today's anniversary
of a great kids baseball movie, Pitchers Got a Big
Butt Speaking a Little League and pony Ball, Pitcher's Got
a Big Butt.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
You know, the movie that would be Rookie of the Year, right.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Rookie of the Year, Henry rowing Gardner. Do you put
that up there with.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
Danny some of the better kids movies like The Sandlots
and Mighty Ducks, And.

Speaker 5 (04:01):
I think I think it cracks the top ten.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
We watched that recently with the kids and they loved it.
They were, you know, little giants. Like we're talking the
list of movies that you got to show your kids
if they're into sports. I think Mighty Ducks, little Big
League Rookie of the Year, Little Giants, since there's a
bunch of them in that same category. Of course Sandlot,
but Rookie of the Year came out on this day
in ninety three, so if you want to feel old

(04:25):
thirty three years ago.

Speaker 6 (04:27):
He breaks his arm, Yeah, like as the pitch and
that's how he gets it.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
It's the kid from American Pie. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
And you know who the you know who the veteran
picture they called the Rocket is in that movie. I
think you may have even forgotten, you know, like who
like his mentor old guys that ends.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Up with his mom.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Oh I remember, Oh, I know, I may have seen
it like once in Passing in ninety three. Yeah, so
I'm taking your word for it.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
A handsome young Gary Mucy.

Speaker 5 (04:50):
Nice legend.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
So anniversary of Rookie of the Year for all the
sports fans that love that one. Then two questions of
where will they end up? Number one of course Lebron James.
The latest new was Cleveland. When I thought that was
the boring who cares answered? Now everyone's saying Cleveland's the
league leader.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
Well, they're saying over the weekend, one of the headlines
was they're going to make room for bronni if they
were to make that happen.

Speaker 5 (05:17):
That and Lebron took a picture with the Cavs GM
used to be his high school teammate.

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Some people are following breadcrumbs bookends, you know, it could
be a cool story.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
Yeah, but we talked about how cool the old guy
options were up in Golden State, or if he joined
you know, Jannis down in Miami, or if he went
to Philadelphia and teamed up with Jalen Brown. We talked
about all these possibilities and the one that's the least
appealing is the one that seems to have the buzz
right now.

Speaker 5 (05:48):
But every other day there's a new strong Yeah, that's
the thing. He needs to just put an end to
this for the sake of our mental health. And you
know the news of he's filming his last season as
a documentary. Another reason why people seem to be pointing
towards Cleveland, all right.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
And my next where are they going to end up?
You know, this guy should just shut his mouth. Who
is advising this bonehead former forty.

Speaker 3 (06:13):
Nine er Brandon Ayuk?

Speaker 4 (06:14):
He was all about the Commander's Commander Commanders, then he
starts talking about Jaden Daniels, and Jaden Daniels is pretty
much like beat it loser.

Speaker 5 (06:21):
Well, he was insinuating that it's his team. Did you
guys see the meme over the weekend? It was it
looked it was in the official font with the Commander's
logo and it says the Washington Commanders have just released
Brandon Ayuk and.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
Yeah, Jade Daniels gave the thumbs down. Yeah, you know that.

Speaker 4 (06:38):
Someone hasn't made if someone if someone hasn't made the
meme yet, they should make the meme where it looks
like the impractical jokers are telling him what to say,
because what normal person could say this stuff like.

Speaker 2 (06:48):
Yeah, if you want to pray for the commanders, you
don't come at their starting and star quarterback, you know,
I mean, yeah.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
We talked last week about how we burnt every bridge
possible with a respected organization in the forty nine ers, right,
making it seem like he made it seem like John
Lynch was creepy for being a GM former player showing
up at his house.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
You mean, the guy that helped him sign this big deal.
They shared agent.

Speaker 4 (07:11):
Then he said he fired his agent, but he hadn't
officially fired his agent. Then he's saying Kyle Shanahan's a
little b and now he's he made it seem like
the Commanders, that's the spot feels.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
A little ab like. So you know, we gotta take
it for what it is. It doesn't seem right. It's
probably not. There's something something weird going on with the guy.
So yeah, man, I just I hope he's I hope
he's okay. Put it that way, because he's not helping
himself or his career.

Speaker 4 (07:41):
I've heard some NFL insiders, Danny g you may have
seen these same things where they're saying Brandon Ayuk may
have just gone from thirty to forty million dollars a
year in this guaranteed sweet Niners contract to possibly getting
like very little money, like almost like minimum type of
deals for a team to take a back of a league.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Yeah, he might not end up anywhere for all we know,
not if he's acting.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Like this, Like who's who's going to take a chance
on this guy?

Speaker 2 (08:10):
That's that's the question. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (08:11):
So it's kind of like when my toddler has a
meltdown because he wants a popsicle for each hand, and
by the time his meltdown's over, he doesn't even have
one anymore. He's got nothing.

Speaker 4 (08:22):
That's your best analogy ever. I'm picturing Code with two
little rocket poppy.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
For some reason, he has to He thinks he has
to have one in each hand.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Both melted. That's a meltdown.

Speaker 5 (08:34):
Yeah, one at a time, bro.

Speaker 2 (08:36):
So when the meltdown's over, he's left with nothing. I
got it. That was great man, not.

Speaker 3 (08:44):
Going to picture brand that I put two rocket pops
in his hands.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
It's humorous, but it's also very sad, right, like that
he's throwing his career away. It seems like, stay off
social media. If you were someone, someone in his team
or in his camp that cared about him, you tell
him to stop.

Speaker 3 (09:01):
Yeah, just just bad lucks. All around.

Speaker 4 (09:02):
But hey, Brandon Ayuk Lebron James, it's a fun game.
Where do they end up? Coveno just before we get
it to World Cup? Take your guests.

Speaker 3 (09:10):
So you're saying Cleveland and nowhere is that your answer?

Speaker 2 (09:14):
I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go because ads not happening,
And that was part of the deal over there as
to why he'd want to go, and they've already sort
of shut that down, so that ruins that rumor a
little bit. The Knicks was in question if Brunson would
give it a thumbs up, and I haven't heard anything since.
San Antonio is a possibility, Denver's a possibility, Miami's a possibility.

(09:38):
Wolves have been pushing. I'm gonna just for safety reasons,
I'll say Cleveland.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Okay, there you go, perfect Now.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Fun times in Cleveland again Cleveland. It's Covino and rich
In for Dan Patrick. And if you missed the first hour,
we talked about how deflated everybody feel because USA is out,
all three hosts are out, Canada, Mexico. Tough weekend.

Speaker 3 (10:07):
Oh you can say.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
I was like, I'm a host, that I'm out, I'm
the and yeah, I also found out that even Rich
is out, so four hosts are out. He says he's
not watching anymore, And I feel like that's just part
of the process processing the World Cup blues. But Rich
was never a team USA fan. And there's so much
more fun in so many great matchups. Even today. You

(10:30):
got Argentina, Egypt, you got big stars, you got Messy Switzerland, Columbia.
So there's still reason to watch and still reason to
bring positive energy because there's millions of people here to
celebrate with us. So we talked about USA stinking like
Abe Lincoln. We talked about the vibe being ruined once
the red card was revoked, and who's watching still now?

(10:54):
I just have a random question about, well, maybe obvious
or is it not? Of this World Cup? This World
Cup for better or worse? Who's the biggest star? Like,
who's the guy that we're gonna look back twenty twenty
six World Cup And it's not over yet, but as
of now, who's this safe to say, like he might

(11:15):
be like the MVP of the Cup, the most popular
guy that's made the biggest impact so far. Who's the
biggest star so far? Because to me, even though Messi's
putting up big numbers. It's Ronaldo's done. No, he obviously
he's the biggest star of them all. I'm saying of
this particular World Cup pulistic. Obviously he was a stinker

(11:37):
yesterday the goalie from Cape Verde went from like fifty
thousand followers to like millions and billions of followers, So
his star was out of control and he was a
big story as well. Is it not the obvious erling
holland the twenty five year old beast the don Is

(12:00):
it not this guy who's captivating everybody right now with
his drum and his chance and getting everybody involved. Is
it not this dude?

Speaker 3 (12:08):
I would say, who who runs this World Cup?

Speaker 4 (12:11):
It's got to be this dude, because we knew Imbape
before this, we knew Landel Messi before this, and the
big stars are they're playing great, you know, like something
about some of the us plary kanet. I think when
you put all the factors in, like this guy's hairdoo,
his his peculiar look about him.

Speaker 2 (12:34):
He looks like a beast out there. He looks like
some sort of Nordic alien. He looks like a henchman
in like a bond right, Like.

Speaker 5 (12:40):
I'm like, is he from this planet? This guy but
Gove coming up? Is he one of the Norway players
who has the Viking flu?

Speaker 2 (12:46):
Yeah, that's the other side story too, is the Viking
flu is out there and the team is coming down
with an illness. So could we be in jeopardy of
losing out on the biggest star we've seen or develop
during this World Cup? He's only twenty five years old.
He plays this really interesting casual style of football where
it looks like he's not paying any attention. He's sort

(13:07):
of just jogging out, doing a slow jog out there,
like from you to your car, Rich just a slow jog,
and all of a sudden he turns it on instincts
put him right there, perfect timing for a headbutt go
for Holland. And you know his celebrations, the way he
commands a crowd. Is he the biggest star from this
World Cup? Now, I'm not saying of all time, I'm

(13:29):
not comparing him to MESSI I'm saying of this World
Cup so far. I think it's him the striking Viking.
The striking Yeah I love that. Mean regards to his looks, well,
he's striking.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
I mean he's a striking Viking. You said, uh, you
said before, who's the dude from England?

Speaker 5 (13:44):
Then Harry King?

Speaker 4 (13:45):
Yeah, he looks like Beavis dude. That guy looks like
Beavis and Luke Bryant like that.

Speaker 6 (13:50):
Harry Kane looks like British Ryan Gosling. That's I don't know,
Like the hair is a little bit thinner, a little
farther back, a little bit cooking.

Speaker 2 (13:58):
Did you see the very viral clip of him after
the victory where he lost his voice? He had that, Yo,
Rich if you miss that, you gotta hear it. He's
English soccer superstar who looks like he's fifty five years old.
But props to him. Rock You like a.

Speaker 6 (14:13):
Harry Kane lost his voice because he was, you know,
yelling at his teammates. It was so loud there that
they were communicating, they screaming. Here's a little bit of
a of a Harry Kane post match post of Mexico wind.

Speaker 2 (14:27):
We had to find it. Yeah, I've just been sitting
now on the occasion the team everything against us.

Speaker 3 (14:35):
Yeah, I'll go to the bull first.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
It was one of those datish stuff. Incredible speech, I think,
and again Holland, you wish you were speechless. I like,
Kane is great and he's a big star. But this Holland, dude,
I think when you factor in his appearance because he's

(15:01):
he's he's a striking Viking, as Sam put it, he's memorable,
and you factor in the way he's been playing and
leading his team to victory and said, I think he
has seven goals in this World Cup so far. I
think he's been the biggest, like surprising, likable star that
maybe you didn't know before the world start.

Speaker 6 (15:19):
MESSI and Bappe and Holland I think have seven, yeah,
and I want to say Kine has five or six.
So like the the race for the Golden boot is
is awesome. It's like it's a four horse race right now.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
Arling Holland is if it was like as if Noah
Cinderguard was good.

Speaker 2 (15:37):
He's got a peculiar look about.

Speaker 4 (15:38):
He's got that Viking like you know, you know me,
I used to be all about like no Cindergard on
the Mets. He's got that Viking long blonde hair like cool,
like it's just something about him. He's definitely a personality.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Is that what you know? How they say there's four
types of aliens, You know every day there's a new
alien story. Insectoids, reptilians, they say the Grays and then
they say the nos where they all have this look
about them. Is he in Nordic? Dal in Nordic?

Speaker 5 (16:05):
We just found out there's a planet right next to
us filled to dailiens?

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Is he from there? Really? And they're just saying he's who?
Did you?

Speaker 4 (16:11):
Are you sure you just didn't watch Hail Mary with
Ryan Gosling over the weekend because I did.

Speaker 5 (16:14):
I thought that was a good I got a half
hour into it and then had to take care of
a toddler. But the headline this morning Norway's World Cup
squad struggles with sickness bug ahead of England clash. Their
national team has been hit by a bug that's disrupted
training and preparation ahead of their first ever World Cup
quarter final against England, which is coming up in Miami

(16:35):
on Saturday. Their manager confirms that several players have experienced
flu like symptoms, with reports of coughing and rasping spreading
through the fifty plus strong camp of players and staff man.

Speaker 2 (16:47):
That's unfortunate. What happens if they all come down with something?
What would they do? They would be a forfeit that'd
be interesting.

Speaker 5 (16:55):
I don't think they would let it get to that.
But there obviously not going to be a full strength.

Speaker 4 (16:59):
You've seen teams all get sick and they just have
a weekass performance like forfeit of the World Cup if
they don't have enough players on the field, because they're
all like dude, they would all play sick. You've never
seen teams come down once.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
I don't know how sick they are where leads, you know,
I have no idea.

Speaker 5 (17:16):
At least they have time to get hooked up to
ivs and they obviously have a staff of doctors around
them twenty four hours.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
I hope. So so it's in a world of algorithms, right,
it's really tough to get a gauge on. Are we
all seeing the same clips? And I'm flooded with Holland
So in my little bubble of algorithms in the world,
I'm being fed nothing but his clips, his slow motions,
his kicks, his striking good looks, his striking viking seven goals,

(17:43):
and him leading the squad in the stadium with the row.
You know, I keep seeing all these highlights. So for me,
he's the biggest start of this World Cup so far,
it's not over yet. So A Spot just texted me.

Speaker 6 (17:55):
He says it, holland looks like the painting from Ghostbusters too,
which is Vigo U the Carpathian, also known as Vigo
von Hamburg Deutschendorf.

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Maybe that's maybe that's his real name.

Speaker 6 (18:09):
He's just like scary and intimidating looking, but he's like
a big and very serious about his craft. Is that
name again, Vigo von Vigo the Carpathian, also known as
Vigo von Hamburg Deutschen.

Speaker 2 (18:20):
I gotta look a Vigo the Carpet. You know what
I'm saying. Yeah, same guy. Must be his dad. That's so,
he's direct descendant of Vigo the Carpathian. You heard it
here first Spot, that's the Spot sent me that spot.
Our video producer, the spot Spot also told me, dude,
it's project hil Mary. What did I say?

Speaker 7 (18:37):
What?

Speaker 3 (18:37):
What what did I call it?

Speaker 5 (18:40):
I don't listen to you, Rich, We listened to half
of what you said.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
Yeah, okay, cool, thanks guys.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Now get this Fox Sports Radio Nation. We're going to
take your feedback on the star power of and again

Cup action and you know your team Mexico losing a
heartbreaker the other day, we haven't brought up what we
usually said that we would talk about Jordan Henderson, the
dude that jumped over the rail and broke his arm,
celebrating that's that wasn't all of your algorithm?

Speaker 5 (19:43):
Like that was the biggest soccer hit of the weekend. Yeah,
it really was the weekend?

Speaker 4 (19:47):
Like yeah, like that you saw that last second slip too,
like he grabbed the red Oh, I mean I guess
you good, good thing. He doesn't need his arms. He
still has his feet. But still that's not fun. All right,

Speaker 5 (23:42):
All right? Yeah, I'm really good with you. Here are
the rules for Big Poppy Trivia. The first contestant with
two correct answers is the champion. If there's a tie,
we have a tie breaker question. Your name is your buzzer,
but you gotta wait until all three possible answers are read.
If there's two wrong answers in a row, we move
on to the next question. Are you ready?

Speaker 2 (23:58):
Let's go play ball? Okay? I be here, big puppy baseball.
I go be he round one? Okay. Who is the
record for most walks in a single season in Major
League Baseball?

Speaker 5 (24:13):
Whatn?

Speaker 2 (24:14):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (24:14):
Is it? A p row?

Speaker 2 (24:16):
Pete Row b Betty Bond or C Day Williams.

Speaker 7 (24:21):
Sean Sean, Barry Bond, Yes.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Y, hey as Betty going. He hold the record with
two hundred and thirty two walk in two thousand and
four MLB season.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
Yeahn is quick, He's quick to the punch. I love this.

Speaker 10 (24:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (24:36):
Question, by the way, that that season that Barry Bonds,
no one wanted to pitch too. That his on base
percentage was absurd, Like I remember that year being like
it was like little league numbers.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
That's why he's had big like you look like Woody
from Thy Story. Shut up?

Speaker 5 (24:52):
All right?

Speaker 2 (24:52):
The question and Bonds had big bubo head.

Speaker 5 (24:55):
Questions get more difficult as the rounds progress. Here we
go to round two, Sean halfway to prize pack.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
Hey, Sean, you go with me, mat you know, let's go.
How old Bobby Thompson when he hit they shot her
around the world for New York Giants nineteen fifty one?
How old A twenty one? B twenty four or C
twenty seven?

Speaker 5 (25:17):
Sean Sean trying to get the sweep twenty seven?

Speaker 2 (25:22):
Yeah, oh my god, just like that. Hey he liked
te chip three or something like that. Hey, like he cheating,
like he went fast.

Speaker 5 (25:32):
I don't think he had time to type anything in
all right, congratulations Sean. You guys want to do a
bonus round to throw some extra koozies in his price?

Speaker 2 (25:40):
Payah, I tell you him might as well. He was
showing my dunk t shirt for you.

Speaker 5 (25:45):
I appreciate that. Let's go. We don't we even get
to hear Bo or rich a buzz in there. Let's
go around three.

Speaker 6 (25:51):
I think Bo has said anything, and also I don't
know if I had Bow's mic up the whole.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
Hey Bo, it's Betty, good to see you.

Speaker 6 (25:57):
Okay, Round three, just for fun, say something, no, something's not?

Speaker 5 (26:05):
Yes, Hey, well what did you think of my Dodgers
come back in extra inning?

Speaker 11 (26:10):
I like John Boy getting upset at Dalton rushing once
again and then having to eat.

Speaker 5 (26:15):
Yeah for the collision at the plate.

Speaker 4 (26:17):
By the way, for the record that that walk season
where Barry Bonds set the record for most walks his
on base percentage six nine.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
That's like little league stuff six nine. That's going with me.

Speaker 5 (26:30):
All right, let's go, let's go to round three. Bonus round.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
Okay, big puppy baseball Threa, when you see a teammate struggling,
you pick him up. That's what family does.

Speaker 5 (26:40):
This is what you once quoted saying about teammates.

Speaker 2 (26:42):
What's my most famous quote about teammates. When you see
a teammate struggling, you pick them up. That's what family does.

Speaker 11 (26:48):
Me.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
If I could play the game all by myself, I
would teammates ruined the outcome of the game most of
the time. Or see, I would take certain things made
through dinner when I knew they needed a poppy pep talk.
That's what I call a poppy pep talk and some steak.
We got a steak, rich, Rich.

Speaker 4 (27:10):
I feel like I want a poppy pep talk. See no, see, hey, Bo.

Speaker 5 (27:17):
You want to give it a shot. Yeah, I'll go
with a he.

Speaker 2 (27:23):
Where you see a teammate struggling, you picked them up.
That's what family does.

Speaker 5 (27:27):
Nice. I just wanted to bow to win around here.
Congratulations Sean. Sean is a winner in Connecticut. Hang on
the lot, hey, Sean, he go with me, Mary. We
are going to get your actress and then mail out
one of the new new prize packs to you there
in West Haven.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
Awesome.

Speaker 11 (27:41):
I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
Hey can I go now? Yes? Hey, good to see
your baddy. Happy to be here. I love it. Damn
Patrick Dan Patrick Show, and then Yankee Los Yankee Loes,
Big Poppy, Bye, guys, thank you, good to see you.

Speaker 5 (27:58):
See you next week on our afternoon drive show.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
There you go, Thanks man, buddy.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
That big pompy is full of energy. Man. All right,
So we're Cavino and Rich and it's a well. Yesterday
was a special day. One of our heroes celebrated their
eightieth birthday. Eightieth birthday.

Speaker 3 (28:14):
Yeah, it's weird.

Speaker 4 (28:15):
It's weird to think that Rocky Balboa Sylvester Stallone is
eighty now. It just doesn't feel right because like you
think of him as, you know, a guy that's in
the ring, a.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
Guy like you know.

Speaker 4 (28:29):
But then again, Rocky's older than us. Rocky came out
before I was born, and you know, think about it,
he was a young man.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Then such a picture and like pounding about it, hitting
the heavy bang, like yeah, that'd be birthday to meet.
Nobody get eighty years old.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
We got we got a lock.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
Yeah, he's like pounding upset about it.

Speaker 4 (28:46):
You know the fact that Stallone is eighty as wild
because like it's he doesn't feel that way.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
I mean, so he is.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
So can I can I give the question that I
was thinking cove well, I I before we get to
the question, did you see the clip? This has to
do with the actual question the clip. There's a viral
clip of Seth Rogan. I forget who he's talking to,
Seth Rogen and you know someone bought into it. Whoever
he's talking to it Like agreed, I forget who it was.

(29:15):
They're like, yeah, let's just be honest, Sta Loan's overrated.
They're like, yeah, you know, the Rocky movie was great
and all, but after that, what's he really done? Like
he's no Schwarzenegger. And I'm like, wait, hold up, cause he,
in my opinion, holds a very special place in the
Hollywood and in my heart because not many people have
three franchises successful franchises to that magnitude. He has the

(29:39):
Rocky franchise, he has the Rambo franchise, he has the
Expendables franchise. Like each one of those franchises garnered sequels,
Like that's a legacy that only few have done. And
you know, for people to downplay his career in any
way I think is craziness. I really do. I don't think,
you know, just because we love Rockies, we give stallone

(30:01):
this past every actor has stinkers. They're working actors, not everything.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
I'm a I'm a fan of even the Rocky movies
that people don't love. I haven't liked Rocky five enough
to watching it later on in life.

Speaker 3 (30:15):
I'm yeah, you know, it wasn't as bad as we
thought growing up, because remember.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
We always this personal like least favorite though.

Speaker 4 (30:21):
Yeah, I mean as kids we are like Rocky five stinks.
Watching it now, yeah, it's not great, but it's not
as bad as we thought it was.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
So here's my question.

Speaker 4 (30:30):
If you want to take away those franchises Cavino talked about,
because let's be honest, the Rambos that's just like, you know,
easy to watch action Rambo.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
Then you could say the same about the you know
was it the uh.

Speaker 7 (30:47):
Uh?

Speaker 3 (30:49):
The Spendables what is it? And the Rocky movies are legendary.

Speaker 4 (30:55):
If you take away those three franchises, what is your
stallone go to have an answer if you have if
you take away the three big franchises.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
That made him like a billion dollars or something.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
And by the way, it was it was Ike Baronholds
who I like, and Seth Rogan, who I like as well.
I couldn't believe they were like sort of dog in
Stallone's career. That way it was. It was seth Rogen
and baronholds a viral clip talking about him. We're celebrating
him on his eightieth because you got to. You gotta
give props to the legends while they're still around. And
everybody's go to is the nineteen seventy six Academy Award

(31:27):
winning Rocky in that franchise. So if you take that
out of the conversation and with that include the Creeds.

Speaker 4 (31:34):
Rich Well, I would say, I mean, yeah, the Creeds. Yeah,
take take away anything Rocky related. And I'm even gonna
say take away expendables and rambos like the three like
because the other two were just.

Speaker 3 (31:44):
You know, like bro action movies.

Speaker 5 (31:46):
Equas over the Top on the table, you know what.

Speaker 4 (31:49):
It is, Danny, If you want to jump in and start,
go ahead, because over the Top a movie about arm
wrestling to gain the love of his son back.

Speaker 2 (31:58):
I mean, well, we all throw it out, you know,
put your favorite Rockies in order. That's usually the conversation, right,
No one ever agrees. That's the fun part of it.
Now we're paying tribute and giving props and saying happy
birthday to an icon. Absolutely, and we're asking you Fox
Sports Radio Nation, Dan Patrick Nation. I should ask Pig
Poppy before we left. But you know, aside from the

(32:21):
Rocky franchise and the Big Three as we call it,
the Rocky Expendables and Rambo, what's your favorite the Loan movie?

Speaker 3 (32:29):
And why?

Speaker 2 (32:29):
Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. We're gonna get
all your feedback and phone calls. And maybe if Danny
G's feeling nice, the best answer and best reason, maybe
maybe you qualify for a prize. Maybe they hook you up.
All right, how about that?

Speaker 3 (32:40):
Perfect?

Speaker 2 (32:41):
So let's get some phones going and let's wrap up
strong Covino and rich In for the great Dan Patrick.

Speaker 8 (32:46):
Thanks for listening to The Dan Patrick Show podcast. Be
sure to catch us live every weekday morning nine until
noon eastern six to nine Pacific on Fox Sports Radio,

Speaker 2 (33:01):
Man, if you're not watching at Covino and rich FSR,
you're missing out. You're missing iow Sam's dance moves. I
mean he gets you fired up, dude, Like man, I
need some of that energy today. But I'm glad you
got it, Sam Iow, sam our sound architect. Of course,
Danny G's got the smooth buttery voice. He's our super

(33:23):
producer on the phones waiting for you. At eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox, We're Covino and rich In

time greats. The only place to collect them all is

Speaker 2 (33:48):
Now, since a lot of people are tuning out because
the World Cup is over for the US, all the
hosts in fact, especially host Rich Davis, maybe some of
these movies these suggest are ones you watch if you
haven't seen them yet, because we're celebrating Sylvester Sloan. Absolutely,
he's a legend. Rich and I have been joking about

(34:09):
him for the length of our show, and we've all
enjoyed him for pretty much the lengths of our lives. Right,
So he's an icon and he holds a very special place.
Like I said in Our Hearts, but in movie history,
because he has three giant franchises, Rocky if you include
Creed even bigger, you got the Expendables most recently, and

(34:34):
of course Rambow if you take them out of the equation. Here,
what's his best movie? What's his after all that, after
all the explosions in punches throwne? What's the best movie?

Speaker 4 (34:50):
Could the answer be what you like the most or
what you think the best movie is? Because I think
the answers are different.

Speaker 2 (34:58):
Okay, yeah, you know what I can think. I can
think both of those. So I'll start thing. I'll start.
I was gonna say I.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
Wanted you to go.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
I don't think the best one is gonna be necessarily
your favorite one.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
Okay, fair, I'll explain. I'll explain why I think his
best movie outside the Big three is Copland. I feel
because it's underrated, came out in ninety seven. It's yeah,
it's it's de Niro stallone absolutely, Harvey Kaite absolutely, and
Rayly Yoda and a young Michael Rappaport absolutely. So you

(35:35):
have like a star studded cast. You got that classic
scene where the Nero's like, I gain you a chance
to be a real copy you Blue Way it's the
second best, might be the first best of you blew
it after Sandler and Still I'm so sorry. Absolutely DeNiro
and I think that movie because it's not played a

(35:57):
million times. You haven't seen it a million times, but
because of who's in it and how good it is,
because it's Stallone in like a serious role where he
plays this bum of a gob Absolutely, I think it's
really one of his most underrated I think better films.
As far as the one I like the best, it's
Demolition Man nineteen ninety three, John Spartan Easy, all right,

(36:20):
I'm gonna go fun and stupid. I love it, talk
about Danny joked about it. But I feel like the
one I loved watching is it was so dumb, and
I mean every kid, every time they arm wrestled, would
do in over the top move. I thought over the
top was so ridiculous watch a personal personal favorite, personal favorite.

Speaker 4 (36:37):
Watching it as an adult, I'm like, oh my god,
how did I love this so much as a kid.
He's arm wrestling and he's like a week He's a
terrible dad in the movie.

Speaker 2 (36:45):
Sons are like weenie sons.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
A little weenie.

Speaker 4 (36:47):
Yeah, And I'll tell you what the best, the one
that I feel like. I also watch a lot with
my siblings and my grandpa and my dad. I thought
Tangoing Cash him and Kurt Rustle like a cop action comedy.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
That was a great movie. I like Tango in Cash.

Speaker 2 (37:01):
Okay, so I'm confusing which is which? Though on your
little list.

Speaker 3 (37:04):
Here, I think his best movie is Tangle and Cash.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
Oh okay, but your personal favorite is over the Top,
over the top.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (37:11):
All right, we pay tribute when they're alive. Happy eightieth
to Sligh. Let's go to your phone calls eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox. I'm assuming we saw most
of these, right, yeah?

Speaker 5 (37:22):
Probably Let's go quick Vermont Travis, Yeah, Trav, Hey, buddy, hey,
absolutely absolutely.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
Did you got your red?

Speaker 11 (37:33):
Non big three stallone movie would have to be Judge
dread Ah woah.

Speaker 2 (37:38):
See now I've seen it. I haven't seen it enough,
So maybe like tonight after Switzerland, Columbia, maybe I throw
that on. I don't have big plans today.

Speaker 5 (37:49):
All right, let's go to Arizona. Keith is in the house,
Come up, comedy stop for my Mama's shoe in Tulsa, King.

Speaker 4 (38:03):
Yeah, you know, I'll tell you what it's not a movie,
but Tulsa King is a People definitely love Tulsa King.
I'm so shocked that none of us watch that, considering
we love Stallone so much.

Speaker 2 (38:11):
I actually do watch that, and I've watched some of it. Yeah,
I watched the first season. My dad's a big fan.
I think Dad. I think Stallone is also like the
lead leader of like your dads love him too, right.

Speaker 5 (38:21):
Yeah, yeah, hell, all right, let's go to Minnesota.

Speaker 2 (38:26):
Stony Hey, Stony Hey, Stony Good morning, boys.

Speaker 10 (38:30):
You took mine. The nineteen eighty nine Tango and Cash.
You just can't beat that one because of the camaraderie
him and Kurt Russell have as Stallone is the Beverly
Hills top cop, and then you got the one on
the lower side of town Cash played by Kurt Russell.
They just made an absolute perfect dynamic duo.

Speaker 5 (38:50):
And you gotta go with tangoing Cash.

Speaker 3 (38:52):
It was a great movie.

Speaker 4 (38:53):
I feel like Cavino's not super familiar with tangling Cash.

Speaker 2 (38:56):
I like Kurt Russell. I love Stallone. I should give
that one more of a watch. Yeah, I've seen it,
but yeah, I'm definitely if people are yeah, man, and
I'm seeing the feedback too on YouTube. Maybe I should uh,
maybe ask another one. I gotta watch it night cash.

Speaker 5 (39:09):
All right, our boy Russell in Las Vegas.

Speaker 2 (39:11):
Russell, what's up, buddy, I'm doing good.

Speaker 5 (39:15):
What movie you got?

Speaker 7 (39:17):
Oh?

Speaker 11 (39:18):
I got one that helped me through an NHL tryout
in a different country, and that kept me motivated the
whole time. I'm a big movie buff, but this one
movie stood out and I watched it probably a billion times.

Speaker 3 (39:32):
Rocky four, Well, we said, without the Rocky movies, you
can't name the Rocky movies.

Speaker 2 (39:37):
But of course I would say that's the most entertaining
of all the Rockies. Yeah, the most entertaining, right, not
the best one, but the most entertaining for sure.

Speaker 3 (39:45):
I love your answer.

Speaker 4 (39:46):
But we said, you can't say a Rocky, a Rambo
or an Expendable, because those are the three big franchises. Now, Cavino,
I'm there's one of them. Shocked though, one said yet, but
we'll go to the focals. I don't want to take
the last answer.

Speaker 5 (39:57):
All right, we have time to go to San Diego.

Speaker 7 (39:59):
Doug is in the Hey, what Doug, my guys, how
are you listen to slam Dunk? Okay? Forget about it.
First Blood.

Speaker 11 (40:08):
First Blood is such a great.

Speaker 7 (40:09):
Movie with the Rambo thing and he possessed Sheriff was huge,
and let's not forget uh Richard Krana rich.

Speaker 5 (40:21):
Remember earlier this hour when I said, we listened to
half of what you say?

Speaker 2 (40:25):
Yeah, yeah, that's the problem.

Speaker 3 (40:27):
You know, I'm surprised no one said Cliffhanger.

Speaker 5 (40:30):
Off the air. That was Iowa SAMs pick Sam.

Speaker 4 (40:33):
I think that I think box office wise and like
I guess pop culture buzz.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
I feel like Cliffhanger is like a really well promoted movie.

Speaker 5 (40:40):
Also, nobody said Nighthawks. Well tell you look that one
up from eighty one.

Speaker 2 (40:45):
Not that I put a lot of stock into Rotten Potatoes,
but even they gave copp Land a seventy five percent,
which is pretty good. So I would say that's a
very underrated stallone movie. And we appreciate your feedback. You
know what, do we have time for one more call Danny?
Or now we'll run out of time. We're run out
the light in front of my face, all right? Cool,
So guys, the phones are lit up. Where we went
