Speaker 4 (01:45):
Oh, I got and flooding that black card all around here.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
So how was the How was the Turkey Day holiday?
Did you dive into some bird?

Speaker 4 (01:54):
I did? I did twice down.

Speaker 7 (01:57):
In fact, we did it earlier in the week because
we would be running around, chasing around watching my daughter
sit the bench for Oregon and yeah, and then then
we're going to turn back around and have some leftovers
with men man on the bench on Saturday. So this
has just been a it's just been it's been a

(02:19):
bench tour for me. But it's all about the support.
It's not about the playing time, it's about the support.
So yeah, so there's that in between the traveling. We've
done the Thanksgiving meals so that we could kind of
all sit down. Man came in from from State College
last night for a few hours to get some food

(02:40):
and get some family time.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
So that was pretty cool. It was cool. It's it's
been a good, good holiday.

Speaker 2 (02:45):
What about yourself, Well, yeah, we just you don't hung
out with the in laws kind of uh, you know,
just stuffed our face a little bit, and that was.

Speaker 4 (02:52):
That I eat what was on the menu. You know,
did y'all jump into bird?

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Yeah we did the bird? Did some ham?

Speaker 4 (03:00):
Did did I do some pig? Already answered it's pig,
isn't it? Uh?

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Yeah, I mean, but you know, it's a little bit.
I think you were trying to say that.

Speaker 4 (03:13):
What are you trying to say.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
An actual pig sitting on the table that we've got
to like, you know, like sift through Like no, no,
that's every other day of the year. Mexican culture they
do it different, you know, from time to time.

Speaker 7 (03:31):
But I know, I know the Italians don't make it
through all of the you know, all of the courses
of meals before they get to the turkey, and then
they're full before the turkey. Not my words as Dean
Blandino saying that, So yeah, I don't know. I just
figure you would say that plow through too many Tamali's
or something.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
The food is fantastic. The food was fantastic. But I
was shocked because it did feel like a home game.
I'm looking around going.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
Where's the uh, where's the sauce?

Speaker 2 (04:02):
Was like, what's the hey, Sarah.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Where's the tortilla?

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Maker. That thing's always a minute.

Speaker 4 (04:11):
Mac and cheese.

Speaker 6 (04:12):
Wait a second, wait and you guys, can you guys
call mac and cheese too?

Speaker 4 (04:23):
Damn all these yees. No, you did it right there.
No you did not. I appreciated news.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Hey, I'll be half of my family yours totally. So yeah,
it felt like it felt yellow growing up sweet. But
it is to Molly season. So that'll that'll start, uh,
is upon us. Yeah, it'll start. It'll they'll start throwing
it down here pretty quick. So so there's that. Hey,
I was thinking about something watching the uh, the game

(04:57):
just starting, you know, backwards, uh, from the last game
to the early game.

Speaker 4 (05:03):
I'm watching the.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Bengals and the Ravens, and then.

Speaker 4 (05:05):
Something occurred to me and I what was it?

Speaker 2 (05:09):
You and I on Two Pros and a Cup of Joe,
which you can hear before the Dan Patrick Show weekday
mornings here on Fox Sports Radio. You and I we
both had the Ravens going to the Super Bowl, and
it occurred to me last night watching that game. They
kind of stink. They're really not They just got very good.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
They're not good anymore. What happened, I don't know.

Speaker 7 (05:35):
We just talked about there shouldn't be enough defense in
the world for for Sincey to be able to win
in Baltimore against that offense. Not enough defense in the world,
let alone Cincinnati to go in there and do it.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
Well, there you go.

Speaker 7 (05:53):
Yeah, it's just it's it's the Joe Burrow effect though,
like he's like everybody's kryptonite, you know, That's what it is.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
And the thing is and look, I don't know that
Joe Burrow. Look, obviously it doesn't help their defense, and
that's really been the problem for Cincinnati's We've laid out
on our show that Joe Flacco's played well, like it
wasn't like he was struggling while he was in there.

Speaker 7 (06:14):
But it's not Joe Burrow and the Joe Burrow impact
the effect. Yes, yes, that's a real thing. Okay, let
me ask you this, if you were if you were
going into a game with I don't know, just say,
it's a really good ball player that's backing up Kobe

(06:35):
Bryant or a really really good ballplayer that's backing up
Michael Jordan, and you go into the game knowing that
mj or Kobe is out of the game. Do you
feel the same way, Do you have the same type
of confidence level that you would if and maybe you
don't know this, I don't know. Maybe you got to

(06:55):
be an athlete to know. But you can assume, right,
assume you can assume what.

Speaker 2 (07:07):
What am I going to be frager? But point taking?
Here's the point, point taking.

Speaker 7 (07:17):
But here's the point, right, all seriousness, You're going to
have more confidence when you have your best player on
on the field, and especially at the main position. If
you have your guy at his position. They know Joe
Burrow as the guy that took them to the super Bowl.
They know Joe Burrow is the guy that should be

(07:38):
a league MVP probably last year, if not for you know,
the heroics of you know, other guys, which I mean
it is what it is, all right, but that that
does have a positive, profound impact on the rest of
your team when you have uh, the guy like you know,

(07:58):
Lat's back, Lat's back, like you know what I mean,
it definitely does have an impact. And clearly that's a
thing because they lose games. They what, they've only won
one game without Joe Burrow. When Joe Burrows out, they've
won like one game, one or two games. I believe
it's one. So I mean, it's a real thing. And
that was believe it.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
And that was one of the storylines going into the
year for Zach Taylor. And then was the starts to
the season, because that's that had always been an issue.
They would get off to these poor starts. Their record
in September was awful, and they didn't be scrambling in
this mad dash to try and make the postseason like
they were last year. And that's why they've missed a
couple of years in a row. That in his health
and so this year, well, we're going to have him

(08:39):
play in the preseason. We're gonna make sure we come
in and there's not a lot of rust. They come in,
they start off the year two and zero and you're thinking,
all right, well, at least the plan worked, and then
he gets hurt and then they just went in this
downward spiral. Joe Burrow after the game talked about his
return last night in Baltimore.

Speaker 8 (08:57):
It had to knock some rust off there in the
first half, so I expect myself to play better. But
it was great to be back out there. I was,
you know, a lot of emotions running through it at
the end of the game. So it's just good to
be back with the guys. You know, anytime you can
get a big win like this, it's it's exciting. And
guys work really hard for this. You know, we are
where we're at with our record, but guys work really

(09:20):
hard to go out and put on good performances on Sunday.
So when you're able to do that, it feels good.

Speaker 2 (09:27):
I mean, they would need some things to fall their way,
but it's.

Speaker 4 (09:30):
A lot of pressure on them to try to get
in there.

Speaker 7 (09:34):
I mean, but think about it, if they if they
went out they get in.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
That's a lot of pressure.

Speaker 7 (09:40):
But at the end of the day, I don't I know,
you're going to go into li scenarios like what needs
to play out for them to be able to make
the playoffs. Just win, just win, just keep winning. There's
enough games left that if they just keep winning, if
they go on a tear and take over the second
half of the season, which is very very poss right,

(10:00):
this be Bengals team has so much tilent talent on it.
They didn't even have Jamar in this game, Like think
about that. Yeah, they didn't even have him and they
still go out there and serve up an ass whipping
didn't even have their their main receiver.

Speaker 4 (10:17):
So you get you get hendrickson back.

Speaker 7 (10:20):
I'm assuming he'll come back and and and continue to
be healthy.

Speaker 4 (10:24):
Uh.

Speaker 7 (10:24):
You you'll get your You'll get some elements of your
defense as a better defense moving forward, you'll have your
your weapons on offense. They might take over the second
half of this season and could be a team to
beat heading into the postseason.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
They could very.

Speaker 7 (10:43):
Well storm back, just based around the idea that that
the Steelers will give away a game. The Ravens they're
giving away games. I mean, I don't know if we
call it give it away. I don't Again, they don't
look like they're a very good team. And the Steelers,
I know they play without Aaron Rodgers, but the Steelers
if Aaron Rodgers' injury can't you know, get rectified to

(11:07):
the point of where he's comfortable.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
I don't know how that all works out. What is
you know how that works?

Speaker 7 (11:13):
But this is not the same team without without Aaron Rodgers,
And I don't know how good they are down the stretch. Honestly,
if their running game isn't isn't up to standard of
what a stealer running game should be heading down the stretch,
So it aligns for Cincinnati to be able to not

(11:34):
only climb back into it, they could take it over
and win it. They could win the AFC nor because
it's not a very competitive strong AFC North this year.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Yeah, And I mean, they've got a couple of division
games left. They've got Baltimore again and then they've got
the Browns. They're three and one in the division. They've
got the best record in the division. So it's look,
it's a long shot. But if they do go on
this run, because they're at Buffalo coming up up next
week and we've seen look at the Bills. Yeah, the
Bills have.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
Not left that's not looking. Yeah, they're not the same.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
So if if they were to go on this run,
and let's just say, you know, for hypothetically speaking, they
get into the postseason, they're that's a problem because that's
a team with you know, and we'll get into the
Kansas City conversation as well, but that's a team who
gets into the AFC playoffs and all of a sudden,

(12:27):
I think they've got the best quarterback in the playoffs and.

Speaker 7 (12:31):
Receiving ten Yeah, outside of Dallas, which I know we're
going to get into that outside of Dallas, who has
a better, more loaded receiving corps.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
Nobody, Nobody, nobody.

Speaker 7 (12:45):
So I mean they could potentially, like I said, if
they catch fire this second half of the season, then
they stay healthy and you know they have they've had
enough things not go their way. They have a few
things go there way. This Cincinnati team becomes a real
interesting prospect, a real interesting horse. Do you put your

(13:08):
money on moving down a stretch of who's going to
finish out? They have the ability, they have the experience,
they have the understanding of how good they can be
because they've made it to the Super Bowl. So and
they are one of the teams that have proven that
that Kansas City kind of before now that unbeatable, that

(13:30):
unpenetrable Kansas City team, they can be beat. That was
Cincinnati that was proving that. Yeah, So to me, it's
an interesting conversation because they can get on a run.
It was confirmed that Joe Burrow can make the difference
in how this team carries out a game plan. Whether

(13:51):
he plays defense or not doesn't matter. It's the impact
and the energy of knowing that you have your guy
back and all we got to do is step our
level will play up, and we step our level up,
then it's going to go up for the rest of
us as well.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
And Joe's going to do what he needs to do.
And that's exactly what you saw happen in this Ravens game.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Now, the Ravens conversation is a separate one because Baltimore, look, yeah,
there's something off. John Harbaugh, the head coach of the
Baltimore Ravens, was asked about potentially maybe health being an
issue for Lamar Jackson and had this to say, I just.

Speaker 8 (14:27):
Think he tried to do the best you can from
play to play, in game to game to execute and
make plays.

Speaker 4 (14:33):
See fully healthy.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Fully healthy.

Speaker 4 (14:37):
Yeah, he's fully healthy to play.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Yeah, absolutely, So that's more like, man, we're just trying
to get through it. You know, he's always on the
injury report. There's always something that pops up. They just don't.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
Look good, man.

Speaker 2 (14:49):
And if we're being fair about the situation, like the
Joe Burrow's been out for a significant amount of time.
The conversation about the defense is one thing. We're now
two thirds of the season in. You kind of are
what you are at this point right as the Great
Pte Prisco would say, you are what you are, and
Baltimore's just they look like a mediocre football team. And

(15:12):
I know they've been on a little bit of a
run lately, but last night was alarming. They were a
seven point favorite at home on a short week against.

Speaker 4 (15:21):
We took them, too, didn't we.

Speaker 2 (15:23):
I think I might have taken Cincinnati.

Speaker 4 (15:25):
I think, did you really?

Speaker 3 (15:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (15:26):
I got to look into that, but I mean it
was a lot of points. I said, well, you know, listen,
I'll ride the momentum of Joe Burrow. But I mean
I didn't think it was going to look like.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
That, did you? Money line the Bengals? I don't know.

Speaker 2 (15:39):
Probably not, if I'm being honest, probably not.

Speaker 7 (15:43):
I just where we're at right now in the season.
I am so fed up with people disappointing the idea
that the good teams get better and the bad teams
are very wildly and concert. I thought we would see
a wildly inconsistent game from the Bengals, and we would

(16:05):
see a Baltimore Ravens team continue to apply themselves and
bring a level of play that says they're getting themselves
into form for what's taking place. The interview points that
you hear from Harball. The things that you see take
place with this team, the conversation surrounding them is largely

(16:27):
in part they are a very inconsistent football team. That's
not the type of team that can ride any type
of momentum into a postseason aspiration to try to win
a Super Bowl. That's what the Baltimore Ravens are right now.
Why are they this team? It's very perplexing. I don't know.
I don't know who has the answer for it. But

(16:48):
the question to me becomes, where is Harball as a
coach in his tenure with this group. If this is
all you can get as a result from your team,
I think it raises a lot of red flags if
I'm moving forward in terms of what has we keep
asking the question about the Buffalo Bills. Have they hit

(17:12):
their ceiling? Every single week? Have they hit their ceiling?
Have they hit their ceiling? I gotta ask the question,
have the Baltimore Ravens hit their ceiling? That's gotta be
the number one question coming out of that game yesterday
because there's really no apparent reason as to why you
could come to a strong positive conclusion that the Cincinnati

(17:35):
Bengals would have a decisive, dominant victory over the Baltimore
Ravens in Baltimore.

Speaker 4 (17:43):
If he didn't seem like look, if.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
You would have told me that a Cincinnati went in
there and they squeaked one out on a field goal
late Evan McPherson hit a fifty plus yard field goal
and they win that game on man, you know big,
but it's like, hey, but you made the point earlier.
That was a beating, last beat. That game was like
they like Cincinnati fed them their ass on national television

(18:05):
for everybody to watch, and it looked like a shell
of what the Ravens were last year. The Lamar's not
looked that bad in a long time. And it was
just turning the ball over, no answers, they just they
stopped running the It's you've got all and I know this,
and there's been injuries and there's been all this stuff
and and key players have been out on defense for there.

(18:25):
I get all that, But you still do have Lamar Jackson, Like,
you still do have talent there. It's not like it's
not like you were at down your number one wide
receiver like the Bengals were, and that game wasn't close,
Like if Cincinnati converts, you know, instead of kicking field
goals if they you know, convert a couple of more touchdowns.
And Joe Burrow isn't working through the rust. Who the

(18:46):
hell knows what that game looks like? Like that was
that was an ugly performance. And yeah, I do wonder
at what point because you know, it's the same thing
about Mike Tomlin, It's the same thing about you know,
Sean McDermott. It's like, man, there's been a lot of
success there, but it hasn't quite gotten to Super Bowl yet,

(19:06):
Like it hasn't quite gotten to Hey, well, you know
they lost in a super Bowl and you're not hearing
any of that stuff about you know, Andy Reid, you're
not here. But for some reason, the Ravens don't look
the same, the Bills don't look it. Just something's off there, man.
And I just wonder with Lamar's mobility and the way
his style of play, you know, when do we start

(19:29):
having the discussion has he peaked as well too, because
he's taken a lot of damage. He's been out there,
and those hits add up, and I'm just wondering if
where at the point in his career where the athletic
ability can't carry him the way maybe it did in
previous years. I don't want to overreact, but that did
not look good, and this season hasn't looked good for

(19:50):
that team.

Speaker 7 (19:52):
I don't know that you could call it an overreaction
at this point to have criticisms towards any ass respect
of the Ravens team or their game right now, I
don't think anything is off limits.

Speaker 4 (20:07):
Maybe hambling, maybe that might be it, But otherwise I
think they're they're all.

Speaker 2 (20:15):
What not what what? Nothing?

Speaker 4 (20:22):
Nothing?

Speaker 2 (20:22):
You know, We're just having you know, just having conversations
with the Ravens. It's all, you know.

Speaker 7 (20:27):
Oh, I don't know, this feels like a setup.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
No, it's not not a setup.

Speaker 4 (20:33):
What is it? I mean?

Speaker 2 (20:34):
I just I just was wondering if maybe there's there's
something else going on there, you know, like maybe you know,
maybe you know, justin Tucker put some sort of a
hecks on the Oh. I'm just saying, you know, like
one of those neon lighte hecks is like, you're gonna
come after me. I'm asking the question. I'm trying to

(20:54):
get some answers here, and I got to know what's
going on there in Baltimore. That's all.

Speaker 7 (20:58):
So you're saying he has to ends the facility of
this possibly happening on the road at the facility, I mean,
you know it's possible. Yeah, I just no, I wouldn't know.
I got an extensive background on people being inappropriate in
locker rooms, you know.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
Yeah you do, there, you do.

Speaker 7 (21:21):
I didn't know, bitches, But but yeah, I didn't know.
Don't don't text me up after the show, so you knew. No,
I didn't know. I was totally unaware. That over clear
on that.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
But yeah, it's that they have not looked good all year,
and so I don't. I know, there's still the overwhelming
favorite to win that division, just because somebody's got to
win that division. But I don't.

Speaker 7 (21:43):
It's the inconsistencies for me, man, Like, they're all inconsistent.
Every lets one of them are inconsistent. There's no way
to put a tag on any of those AFC teams,
no way. Like I'm curious to see what what Schador
does on Sunday because even the Browns are in the conversation.

(22:06):
That's crazy. All four teams are in the conversation. As
poorly as they have done, they could all be in
the conversation, maybe the Browns don't make the playoffs based
on where they're at, but they can make a run
for it. And imagine what that conversation is if they
go on to tear with Shador at quarterback. So now

(22:28):
so now stefans Key may save his job.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
Boom, here you go.

Speaker 7 (22:32):
You go into an offseason with the momentum of what
Shador Sanders has done as your starting quarterback. You got,
you got one of the best defensive ends, might break
the record. He's he's on record watch for most sacks
in the season, and Miles Garrett, you have pieces. Now
you you instead of going for a quarterback with that

(22:54):
top pick, go after a receiver.

Speaker 4 (22:57):
Go after a couple receivers in your draft.

Speaker 7 (23:01):
Go after some offensive linemen that can be like anchor
offensive linemen for the future of your team.

Speaker 4 (23:09):
Go for those aspects.

Speaker 7 (23:10):
And now you have a lot of excitement building around
the Cleveland Browns. Do you look at Cincinnati. Cincinnati, all
they need to do is address their defense. That's all
they need to do, and now they're right on their way.
The Pittsburgh Steelers and the Baltimore Ravens may have the
biggest questions surrounding them moving into the future, out of

(23:32):
any of the other teams in the AFC North, and
they're the ones at top of the AFC North, which
is very interesting because how much time do they have?

Speaker 4 (23:41):
How much do you have?

Speaker 7 (23:42):
How much time do you have in Pittsburgh before you
really see what this roster really truly is? How much
time do you have in Baltimore before you see what
this roster really truly is?

Speaker 4 (23:55):
How much time do you have?

Speaker 2 (23:56):
And also look at if you're Cincinnati, like you know,
last night, you're out there dealing and Joe Burrow's working
off rust and t Higgins is out with the concussion
and all that, Like you get him back. Joe Burrow's
got a game under his belt. I'm telling you, he's
the best quarterback in the division in my mind, and
it's not close like this, he's the best quarterback in

(24:19):
the division, especially with Lamar's health and all that. If
they like, if he's got his full compliment. I know
it's thirteen to one on DraftKings for them to win
the division. I just I'm looking at it going maybe
it is possible. I don't know, maybe it is Paul.
And then that being said, they could come out, they
get their full compliment of weapons around Joe Burrow and

(24:41):
they get annihilated next week. I don't know. I mean,
it's just it's one of those things. It's inconsistent as hell,
but it's the AFC North, So there's a I.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
Think it makes it.

Speaker 7 (24:50):
I think it makes it very interesting moving into moving
into where we're going.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
Because it is they are.

Speaker 7 (24:58):
They have been such a amazing teams, such amazing franchises
for the National Football League, for the AFC. They've built
the reputation of the AFC North. I mean, all these
teams have built the reputation of the AFC North, but
the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Ravens have been the gold
standard of the division, and they've been a gold standard

(25:20):
for the National Football League as well. It's interesting to
see where these teams, if that legacy, if that tradition
that they've built through the years. The decision makers that
are in play now because there are different different decision
makers at the GM's positions that aren't historically a part

(25:42):
of the successes of these teams, these franchises. Can they
right the ships, Can they get these teams going in
the right directions and how much time is it going
to take for them to be able to do it.
It seemed as so Pittsburgh may have pulled a fast
one on us. They got out to the type of

(26:04):
start that would make you consider that the steps that
they took this offseason weren't worth looking at and criticizing.
I know, I was very critical. It looked as though
they got off to a different type of start. But
you know, to me, now, I don't know, man. I
don't know about the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I don't know
about the Baltimore Ravens, and I don't know that there's

(26:27):
any indicator other than saying for Baltimore you have Lamar Jackson.
But you asked a question that's a very legitimate question.
Has he hit his ceiling?

Speaker 2 (26:36):
I just yeah, I don't. I don't know, man. There's
something off there. There's something off with all of them.
But it's fun, you know, it is fun to discuss
the AFC North. It is two pros and a cup

And good morning, guys. How we doing. We are good.
I hope you guys had a good Thanksgiving.

Speaker 4 (29:11):
Yeah, thank you, I got you, buddy.

Speaker 11 (29:13):
But let's start with this in case you missed it.
Justin Jefferson was asked about the Vikings backup quarterback Max
Brosmer just have to start this week in place of
JJ McCarthy. He said, quote, he's definitely a good QB
to be able to fit in with this offense and
create a spark for us. That's something we really need
right now. So a little bit of an indirect jab
at JJ McCarthy, what do you think, guys, I was

(29:35):
being honest.

Speaker 7 (29:35):
I mean it's inang. I mean that's kind of the
only way to interpret it, right. They need a spark,
you know.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
Have been great if Justin Jefferson they would have said, ay, so,
what's the what's your favorite thing about Max Brosmer. It's like, oh,
that he's not JJ McCarthy.

Speaker 4 (29:50):
That might have been the funniest thing that could have
been funny just.

Speaker 2 (29:54):
To see, because man, the JJ McCarthy thing that is
not going well?

Speaker 4 (29:59):
Or do you after that?

Speaker 7 (30:00):
I don't give the team if you if you want
to your players comes out and says that where do.

Speaker 4 (30:06):
You go next? Where do we go from here?

Speaker 2 (30:08):
The other thing that I think it's lost in all
of it is because people point out, man, you decided
to move on from Sam Donald, and you decided to
move on from Donald, and what did Sam Donald do?
Since he's gotten to Seattle. They also decided to move
on from Daniel Jones too, like that he was also there,
like he signed with Minnesota. So it just it is
not gone well. I mean it's pretty early, but he

(30:30):
just hasn't been available also, like he hasn't been able
to stay healthy and now he's out again with a concussion.

Speaker 4 (30:35):
So it's wild man, Oh well.

Speaker 11 (30:40):
Riverside, Yeah, and it's like, well, Max Brosmer is the
one that you're saying creates a spark over McCarthy's.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
That's correct, That is correct.

Speaker 11 (30:50):
Anyway, Next up, Ryan Days pulling an interesting move ahead
of Ohio State's rivalry game versus Michigan. Here, he's decided
to have his team fly to an arbor for the
game as opposed to take the bus as they've historically
done for the matchup, Day said, the Buckeyes fly to
their other road game, so he wants to quote.

Speaker 10 (31:05):
Keep the routine.

Speaker 2 (31:06):
The routine, that's what it is, and he knows the past.

Speaker 10 (31:10):
Four years hasn't worked. So he's trying to make some
adjustments here.

Speaker 7 (31:13):
Trying any old thing at this point. Now, you better
get a you better get you better get a professional
hip hip hYP tazzler, go get it.

Speaker 4 (31:27):
What is the you will wake up?

Speaker 2 (31:30):
Is missus Cleo still around? That's that's that.

Speaker 7 (31:33):
I mean, that's more looking at your your you know,
your toro card.

Speaker 2 (31:37):
Try anything at this point, I mean, I.

Speaker 7 (31:39):
Guess, I guess em on, I tell you what happened
in the future for you? No, no good things of you.

Speaker 2 (31:48):
It's Joe white ass hasn't beat Devin five years.

Speaker 7 (31:57):
I don't I don't know what what uh what accent
that was jonas I clicked that one. Oh okay, all right,
that was more like mister uh. I don't know that
was not Cleo. That wasn't I don't know what type
of type of Yeah, let's just go to break you

(32:17):

who I think the nerves are a little heightened this weekend.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
Yeah you can. That's a big nervous. It's a big nervous.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
Is this the Ohio State fight song?

Speaker 3 (33:48):
Is this?

Speaker 2 (33:49):
Is this the Ohios? Do we have this correct? Is
this the one?

Speaker 4 (33:52):
Ab?

Speaker 2 (33:52):
Is this the one?

Speaker 3 (33:54):
Yeah? Thanks for getting my nerves?

Speaker 4 (33:55):
Okay, be nervous.

Speaker 2 (33:58):
I just uh, I mean Ryan Day's got an interesting approach.
I don't know if you saw the news auber Breer,
but Ryan Days having the team fly in as opposed
to that.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
Yeah, which I would think, like actually would take longer
because thinking about it, it's like a little under three
hours if you're driving right, like and if you're driving
the KI drive anyway, and so like if you're talking
about like going to the airport boarding and I know

(34:28):
this charger, but like going to the airport boarding getting
off in Detroit and then it's like still another whatever
twenty five minutes from an arbor, Like I would think
that would take longer, right, Am I wrong about that?

Speaker 4 (34:44):
I think you're reaching, Abe.

Speaker 7 (34:46):
I think you're reaching because you're trying to end your mind.

Speaker 4 (34:50):
Justify if it goes wrong.

Speaker 7 (34:53):
Why they should have just want to hit and drove
in the buses as opposed to you're going to start
it as the origin of messing up this year's game
was the fact that Ryan Day chose to fly instead
of draft.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
Oh no, put this out logistically. I'm a travel connoisse dower.

Speaker 7 (35:10):
So I'm just saying what it sounds like. Abe, That's
what I'm just. I just want you to say. I
just want you to understand what the listener is hearing
from you right now.

Speaker 4 (35:20):
That's that's that's all I want.

Speaker 3 (35:21):
Yeah, no, no, no, no, I'm just I'm actually just like,
you know, looking at this because I'm I'm kind of
like a I'm I'm like a doctor of travel. Basically,
this based on all the travel I've done. So I
just I like to analyze these things, you know, from
a from a pure fact standpoint. And I'm not sure.

(35:42):
I'm not sure. I'm not sure what will be faster.
I think driving might be faster.

Speaker 4 (35:46):
Do you really think so? I mean that's interesting, I
think so.

Speaker 3 (35:49):
Yeah. Well no, it's like two hundred it's two hundred miles, right,
So it's it's it's almost like exactly two hundred miles.
So you figure you can do that in three hours? Okay,
So if you do that in three hour hours, like
it probably takes you, I don't know, fifteen minutes to
get from fifteen twenty minutes get from campus to the airport.
Then how long does it take you to board the plane?

Speaker 4 (36:11):
Right? Like probably like forty five to an hour.

Speaker 3 (36:14):
You're probably in the air for it's probably like a
half hour forty five minutes in the air. Right then
you land, you taxi, you d plane, you get on
another bus, Like, I think how far as that bus?
More than three hours? Huh?

Speaker 4 (36:29):
How much is how far is the bus from the
hotel from where you're going?

Speaker 3 (36:32):
Well, in thirty five because the Detroit airports like halfway
between actual Detroit n and Arbor, so it's like twenty
five minutes.

Speaker 7 (36:41):
It might be a quicker, it might be much sounds
a little quicker, huh. It sounds a little quicker to fly.
Maybe not that much, but maybe a little quicker.

Speaker 3 (36:52):
It's cool.

Speaker 4 (36:52):
It might it might be too.

Speaker 7 (36:54):
Close to to like split hairs on. It is what
you're trying to say, right, So they.

Speaker 4 (36:59):
Should should they drift? So should they have draft? Baby?

Speaker 3 (37:03):
I don't mind, I don't mind. No, I don't. I
don't mind. I don't mind keeping the routine. I think
that that was smart by Ryan to keep the routine.
I'm just again like I'm way too interested in these
sorts of questions.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
Well, we're gonna get your uh, your your pick on
the game, like we do every single week when you
join us on Fox Sports Radio. But I did want
to ask you, based on what we saw last night,
because look, Joe Burrow gives him a boost, they come back,
Cincinnati wins that game. What's wrong with Baltimore because, like, honestly,
because it just it hasn't looked good really all year

(37:40):
outside of a couple of spots. But Lamar Jackson does
not look like the same player.

Speaker 3 (37:44):
Well, and I think that's sort of what it comes
down to. I think their defense is fine for the
most part, like I and I think, like what you
saw last night was one of the best players in
football coming back into the lineup in the second half
of that game really looking like himself, you know, which
you would expect Joe Burrow to be able to, you know,
create generate offense, you know, no matter who's on the

(38:05):
other side. So that was you know, obviously part of
the equation. But I do think the Baltimore defense has
played pretty well on balance over the course of the year.
So then you know, like you then then the next
question would be where it's the offense at and like really,
to me, that offense is not like the same all year.

(38:26):
And you know, I think if we're going back to
when Lamar got hurt, right like, and how that affects them,
Like I thought last night, like for the first time,
it does look like he's start he's starting to get
the juice back in his legs right like where you
can still you can still you know, pull it and
run it the way that he's always been able to.

(38:46):
We started to see that come back, like last night,
I think he saw it. I just wonder, like, you know,
like does this injury has this injury had an effect
on his mechanics, because you know, quarterbacks like little things
can screw up screw up things to the point where
it's like, okay, like maybe it's not the most noticeable
thing in the world, but you can throw your accuracy

(39:07):
off a little bit, you know, or it can make
you It can it can it can cause a little
bit of like a tweak in the way you play.
That needs to be fixed when he gets to the offseason.
So you know, Lamar is still a great, great player,
but we're so used to him being, you know, in
that group of four quarterbacks with him and Burrow and

(39:27):
Mahomes and Allen, and it's just like again, like not
like he's falling off the face of the earth. But
they don't look as dangerous offensively as they have and
it'll be interesting to see if they can get that together.
Because remember, as you know, up and down as things
have been, they they did win five in a row
going into last night's game, and the rest of their

(39:48):
schedule is pretty interesting. They'll play the Steelers twice. They
got to play the Bengals again in two weeks, and
so you know, as stranger as it sounds, for two
is coming in last night, three and eight, Like the
door is still open for the Bengals to win the
AFC North. They need some help for sure, but like

(40:10):
there's a way for it to happen if they swooped
the Ravens. The Ravens are up to seven losses then,
and so the Ravens would only need to lose one
more game and the Ravens play the Steelers twice. I
believe it that the Lions in there too, where it'd
be like you could easily see them losing one more game,
and if the Steelers level off like now, all of
a sudden, if the Bengals can run the table, and

(40:31):
that's a lot to ask, but the Bengals run the
table now all of a sudden, they can seek in
the playoffs.

Speaker 4 (40:37):
I think you're absolutely correct.

Speaker 7 (40:39):
In fact, I feel like that's what I explained to
Jonas early on in the show.

Speaker 4 (40:43):
By the way, So there you go. I like your
reasoning right there.

Speaker 7 (40:47):
Ab Let me ask you about another team that finds
themselves in maybe a compromising position right now based off
of what Mike Vrabel has been able to do in
Newing Lynn.

Speaker 4 (41:00):
Are the Buffalo Bills? Are they plateauing?

Speaker 7 (41:03):
Are are they hitting a ceiling of sorts in terms
of what we should expect and anticipate from them.

Speaker 3 (41:10):
Yeah, there's some interesting questions with them, LeVar, like I
so like, I mean, one is like they do need
to get healthier, right so they won't get Oliver back
until the playoffs. But that's obviously a huge piece for
them to lose, and they're relying on some younger guys
like Walker and Sanders to pick up the slack for

(41:31):
them on the interior of the D line, which is
a big deal, right Like and then not having Dalton
Kincaid that was that was an issue. I mean the
collapse of Keon Coleman like that hurt as well, which
part of the reason why they're bring in Brandon Cooks. Yeah,
I think the overarching question now become one at such
a high level with that core that they built around

(41:51):
Josh Allen. You know five, six, seven years ago when
you had guys like Hide and Ployer and Stefan digg
And and you know, that group was able to win
at a high level. And now what you've done is
you've effectively replaced that group with some homegrown talent. And
so you paid Rousseau, you paid Khalil Shakir, you paid

(42:12):
James Cook, you paid Terrell Bernard, you paid Christian Benford. So,
like a lot of people said, it's a window closing,
I don't think that's it. Like I think where it
is is this group that you've paid isn't good enough,
you know what I mean? Like, and was that money
well spent? And I think we know how good the
quarterback is, but there's a lot more to it than

(42:32):
just the quarterback here, and so I think seeing that
part of it play out is going to be the
interesting thing because they really need those guys that they paid,
those guys that they've invested in to be part of
the new corps that replaced the first corps that Josh
won with to step up and be who you know,
like they thought those guys were going to be able

(42:54):
to be when they paid them.

Speaker 2 (42:55):
Albert Brier joining us here on Fox Sports Radio, senior
NFL reporter the MMQB dot com. You can get him
on x at Albert Breer. We kind of made mention
of this a little bit last hour because you know
we're watching, you know, you're going to see the Bears
play later on NFC North. Things are headed in the
right direction. It seems like you see the Packers and
the Lions teams that are still good teams, and then

(43:18):
you got the Vikings and how patient are they going
to be with JJ McCarthy knowing they let Sam Darnold walk,
they let Daniel Jones walk, and this is the result.

Speaker 3 (43:34):
So, like I I think there are two layers this.
There's this year and then there's the future, right, So
for this year, like Max Brosmer did enough, you know,
in the summer where they would and I talked to
people that have said this, like they would really like
to see what he looks like in a regular season game,

(43:55):
and they had no idea if that opportunity was going
to present itself, but he had done enough where it
was like, you know, we'd really like to see what
this kid could do at some point, right, And so
there's that piece of it, and that could happen. It
looks like it's going to happen organically this week with
with McCarthy's concussion, right, so you know, if JJ's out

(44:17):
this week, then they get a look at Max Brosmer,
and then you know, the question becomes like is Brosemer
a better option if he plays really well for the
rest of the year, you know, And then there's a
second level to it, which is what does this mean
for the future. Well, you know, I think a big
piece of the rest of this year for them was

(44:38):
like we need answers on JJ McCarthy now, and we
need to figure out who he is now so we
can start to plan for twenty twenty six and going forward.
And you know, really for them what that's about. It's
not like they want to continue to develop JJ. There's
a lot of stuff they love about JJ, but this
isn't a rebuilding team. And I've said this to you

(44:59):
guy since March and April, right when they did try
to bring DJ back and they did try to bring
Sam back. Like, this is a team that's got a
lot of proud veteran players that are the primes of
their career, right Like, so like if I'm Justin Jefferson
or Jordan Addison or Christian Darisaw or Jonathan Gernard or
Andrew Van Ginkel, like like I don't want to hear that,

(45:20):
Like you know, like we're going to spend another year
figuring this out. Like you got to have answers on
the roster for those guys, right Like, this isn't a
team that can just throw seasons overboard in the name
of quarterback development. So like I think JJ has to
earn his spot for twenty six and then he plays
great the rest of the year, they go in the
playoffs and make some noise, then he's a quarterback. If

(45:40):
it looks like it's looked, I fully expect that they're
going to bring in competition for him next year, you know,
So like there's a lot on the line, I think,
and again, like it's not necessarily JJ's fault, but like
this is a double edged swort of going to a
place like this. When he was drafted, everybody's like, well,
that's a great spot to go, and it was, you
know what I mean, that absolutely is a great spike
took go with Kevin O'Connell and the receivers they have

(46:03):
in the Ligne, they have all that different stuff. The
other edge to that sword, though, is that like a
place like that isn't going to be his app to
wait for you. You know. It's kind of like San
Francisco back a few years ago with Trey Lance. It
was like that team could not wait for Trey Lance
to develop. That team needed an answer and in the present,

(46:23):
and they got that answer with proc party and they
moved forward. So there's some similarities between this situation and
where the Niners were a few years ago with Trey Lance.

Speaker 7 (46:32):
How are how are the internals looking at what's going
on in Las Vegas?

Speaker 4 (46:39):
Ab?

Speaker 7 (46:39):
I mean that to me, you know, everybody was making
a hu haa hooray about Tom Brady and his ability
to get information and make this this Vegas team super
Bowl competitor. They bring in Pete Carroll, my goodness, everything
they got a hold of Pete Carroll's old quarterback. He
rejuvenated Geno Smith's career. Where are we right now and

(47:03):
how we're viewing the Las Vegas Raiders?

Speaker 3 (47:06):
Well, that information, I guess hasn't helped them with sons, right, Yeah,
I mean I think there's some push and pull here, LeVar.
I mean, obviously you got a coaching staff that was older,
that had a bunch of guys that were kind of
matched together, right, so, you know, like Pete Carroll had
not worked before with Chip Kelly. Pete Carroll had not

(47:28):
worked before the d C. Patrick Graham either, you know.
And you know, I think a lot of this was
on the coaching side put together to like how competitive
can we become right now? And you know, I think
for the front office there's like a little bit of
a different look at this where this was never going
to be a one off season rebuild. It was always

(47:48):
going to take longer than that. You know, Like the
roster they inherited needed to work in just about every
single way, you know, and so like I think that's
been where there's been some level of tension. I mean
even going back to like the trade deadline, you know,
where where they had players that they could have flipped,
you know, for picks going forward, and part of not

(48:09):
doing that was having a coaching staff that wanted to
compete in here and now. And so now you're sort
of left in this in between. You fired your offensive
coordinator and it's like okay, like, well what's next? And
I honestly look at it like this is still a
multi off season rebuild. It's still going to take you know,

(48:31):
a couple of years to get this thing where they
where they want to bring it, where it can be
a real contender for a championship. And you know, I
think because of that, there are gonna be some big
picture questions that are going to be asked about all
kinds of areas of that operation coming out of the
twenty twenty five season. And I expect that Tom Brady's
gonna be a big part of that, of course, you know,

(48:52):
as he has been, but you know, thus far, I
mean it just I guess what you're looking for is
like just a little pieces of progress, right like that
gives you something to hang your hat on going into
next year, and we haven't gotten a lot of those yet.

Speaker 2 (49:06):
Albert, is there any coach that is maybe potentially coaching
for his job down the stretch here in the last
handful of games that might be a surprise to some
people maybe the seat than some know.

Speaker 3 (49:20):
I mean, I think we all know, like Mike McDaniel
is going to be in that position, right like, just
because we don't know who the general manager is going
to be, you know, going forward obviously, like you already
have a couple of openings, you know, the Giants and
the Titans eating coaches. I'm just trying to think of, like,
I mean, you know, the one that like people keep
talking about and I think he's a fantastic coach, but

(49:41):
like you know, Todd Bowles in Tampa, like if they
were to really collapse down the stretch, Like I I
wonder a little bit in that in that one, you know,
because I do think like when you've talked about it
for as many years and has come up for as
many years as it come up in as many years
that it has, is that one where it's like all right,

(50:04):
like you know, you know, we're building behind Baker Mayfield now,
and this is a natural spot to make a change,
you know. I think the one that everybody's gonna bring up,
the two that everybody are going to bring off, like
if the seasons go the wrong way, are going to
be Baltimore and Pittsburgh. Now, I don't think those teams
would ever fire those guys, but like there's going to
be that well, you know, next year would be Tomlin's

(50:25):
twentieth year in Pittsburgh. Next year would be Harbot's nineteenth
year in Baltimore. And so you know, I think if
if those teams disappoint down the stretch, you know, those
conversations are certainly going to happen out in the public.
You know, Privately, I think it would be more about
like is this time? You know what I mean, rather
than being any sort of firing. So, you know, we'll

(50:47):
see what happens with those. And I'm just trying to think.
I know there's one that I'm forgetting right now that
I'm gonna kick myself for forgetting to bring up with
you guys.

Speaker 2 (50:55):
McDermott, did you mention McDermott, I know we talked about
the earlier.

Speaker 3 (50:59):
I don't I don't get any sense like that internally
they're having those discussions. However, you know, I think the
I may have I've said this a few different times.
I may have said it to you guys before. I
can't remember, but I I like like I sort of
looked at like look at a little bit like Tony
Dungee and Tampa. If you remember, back in the day,

(51:19):
Tony Dungee did such an incredible job of of and
you guys remember, and you guys, you guys remember how
terrible they were before he got there. They were They
were not just the laughing stock of the NFL. They
were like one of the laughing stocks in all his sports.
And Tony Dungee got there, and he completely changed that

(51:40):
place and built, you know, a historic defense with you know,
John Lynch and Derek Brooks and Warren Sapp and Ronda
de Harper, ye and then that and that and and
and and he did such an awesome job. But they've
been knocking on the door for so long, and because
they had that defense, the urgency was amped up. And
then if you remember, at the end of the twenty

(52:02):
one at the end of the one season, they started
flirting with Bill Parcells and almost got him and then
wound up trading for John Gruden. And you do wonder if,
like for the same reason there was urgency in Tampa
back then, because it was like, we're only going to
have this defense for so long. If like eventually in
Buffalo gets the point with Josh Allen, now he's turning
thirty in May where it's like, all right, like, you know,

(52:24):
we really need to find a way to maximize what
we have here to chase a championship, So that will
be the sort of comparison. But I don't think, like,
not to my knowledge anyway, any of those conversations have
happened yet internally, all.

Speaker 2 (52:37):
Right, ab moment of true, moment of true there and
now was the time has arrived. Albert Breer, senior NFL
reporter at the MMQB and the Pride of Ohio State.
Do you feel like, at the end of Saturday's game
in an arbor that the Ohio State Buck guys will
have won that game by more than nine and a

(52:58):
half points.

Speaker 3 (53:00):
It's down at nine and a half nowe people are
setting it down.

Speaker 2 (53:03):
Oh, wasn't it twelve? I thought it was twelve twelve
and a half.

Speaker 3 (53:07):
It was at one point then I think I don't know.
I the last I heard it was ten and a half,
So yeah, it's under ten now, yikes. I think they will.
You know, I picked them a cover last week and
they did right without Carnell and without JJ.

Speaker 2 (53:25):
Yeah all right.

Speaker 3 (53:27):
So, like what the way I feel about the game
right now is like a lot of people are going
to be focused on our receivers and whether they play
or not. I really like our defense with all the
first round picks on it, and that coordinator going up

(53:47):
against the young quarterback that I think could wind up
being the key to the whole thing. And so like
I I, you know, like I just I don't know
how Michigan's going to score on on Ohio. Ohio State
hasn't really been scored on all year, you know, So
like its Michigan the team to break through that I
don't think so. And again like this is I'm saying,

(54:10):
I think I'm not like pounding my chest here because
I've learned my lesson doing that. I do respect the
rivalry more than some people on the other side do.

Speaker 2 (54:18):
Wow, there you go.

Speaker 3 (54:22):
But but I would say, like that to me is
the key is like if this Patricia defense is keeping
them to ten or thirteen or fourteen or seventeen points, Like,
I don't know how you keep the Ohio State offense
under one.

Speaker 2 (54:39):
And also, you know, Matt Patrice has probably got a
red ass going back to Michigan. He probably he's got
a point to prove.

Speaker 3 (54:44):
Yeah, yeah, well there might be some things planned. I
mean this will be interesting too. Yeah. I think that
that group, that that Ohio State group, I will say this,
that Ohio State defensive group loves Matt and I think
they understand where where where this game is being played
and what it might mean to Matt to be able
to pull that off. And so yeah, I think there's

(55:06):
that element of it too. I I I don't know,
I was so confident last year and there was like
because before that, like the three years before that, like
Michigan had really good teams. I don't think they were
the better team in every one of those three years,
but like they had you know, however, it may have happened,
got themselves up to our level for a temporary period

(55:28):
of time. And uh this one, but last year was
not last year was last year. Last year I would
say changed Ryan Day in a way that I think
is going to show up on set.

Speaker 2 (55:43):
Nice.

Speaker 3 (55:43):
Oh yeah, that part of the place. What do you guys.

Speaker 2 (55:46):
Think I would? I would lean in your direction. I
just wanted to come down to the wire though, Like
I wanted to come down to the wire if I
had to bet on Key State. But I don't have
I don't have a I don't have an interest either way.
I just want to see finished.

Speaker 3 (56:00):
I mean, look last week last year, I was in
that parking lot. It was like five degrees. I flew
in the morning of I was like shot out of
a cannon, like you know, seven eight beers deep by
like ten thirty eight ms coming off the plane. And
I remember saying to my buddy Jillan, I was we
were in the parking lot and I was like, I

(56:21):
was like, I like everybody come by by tickases games
wanting to see a classic. I'm like, f Dad, I
don't want to see a classic. I want this. I
want this to be the worst blowout they've ever seen.
I want that stadium to be a party after the game.
And again, like I've learned some lessons. I don't care
if the wins by one or fifty. Just get it done.

Speaker 2 (56:38):
Well, ab It's going to be fun. And we appreciate
you joining us. As always, we're up against it, but
the great Albert Breer here with this on The Dan
Patrick Show. Let's do it again next week.
