Is welcome to teen Beat. We are taking a week
off for the holiday, which gives you a moment to
catch up on some of the episodes you may have missed.
As you know, every week I sit down with interesting
people who've done interesting things, getting into how they've become
who they are today, awkward teenage years and all. Here's

a clip from our first guest ever and the man
behind the teen Beat theme song. It's Blink one eighty
two's Mark Hoppice. So what were those early Blink one
eighty two shows like? Were they always did they always
feel like a success?
Speaker 3 (01:00):
Yes, at least to us. I mean, when Tom and
I are on stage, we really perform for one another,
almost more than we perform for the crowd. Like, if
I can make Tom laugh, that's a good thing. If
I can make Travis laugh, that's a big thing. And
so Tom and I we leave on tour and we
start joking around and we try and say some outrageous stuff.
(01:21):
But then the next night it gets a little further,
and the next night gets a little further, and the
next Like I remember, at one point we were on
tour and our manager pulled us aside because we were
on a tour called the Mark, Tom and Travis Show Tour,
and Tom had this idea that if you took a
vocal effect that pitches your voice down and octave, you
can grab a microphone and you can act like you're

Satan talking directly to the audience. And so I remember
we are on tour one time and after the show,
our managers like, hey, can I talk to you guys
for a second. And he calls us into his office
and he goes, I think you're taking a little far.
We're like, what are you talking about. He's like, well,
when Tom gets on the microphone, he acts like Satan
and he says, Hey, kids, I'm here to fuck your blood.

It's a little too far. Fun that is the line.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
Were like, Okay, that makes sense, got it? Roger copy that. Nope,
your blood, got it?
Speaker 2 (02:12):

ever got into? Like in high school?

In high school? Was I still in high school? I
got arrested at Old Navy, which is crazy because they
like pay you to take the clothes, but I love shoplifting,
still love it.

yourself to not do it.

No, I still to do it.

If I go to Gelson's, I'm taking a treat. If
there's a self checkout, I'm not scanning all of it.

Yeah, I don't work here. It's also Gelson's is so expensive.

Right, there was grapes I want and they were fifty
dollars Are you kidding? But they went on sale for
fourteen Still too expensive.

Okay, But I think it was the summer in between
my junior and senior year. No, it was senior year
because my mom had passed away already. So I used
to play a game with my friends Nick and John
called Grandma, What's in your bag? Meaning we would get
back into Nick's car and they go, Grandma, what's in
your bag?

And I pull little stuff I stole.
Speaker 6 (03:27):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 5 (03:28):
So I was in old Navy. I think I was
by myself, And yeah, I was by myself, and I
was just like doing a thing, taking things, and then
I got stopped and I was like, oh no, And
then I was being not cooperative and I got them

to say that they would release me to anyone over
the age of eighteen. So I called my friend Caitlin
and I was like, Ken, your older sister Courtney picked
me up and she was like, where on are we?
So then Core they're also white, so they were like
these aren't your parents?

They're very young, like one is fifteen, the other is
twenty one, Like what? So yeah, she was able to
sign me out of nail jail.

Don't know how this happened, but once Twitter rip came along,
you could follow these people that you never could have
access to. I mean, this is good and bad, as
we know, it's very bad, but you could suddenly you
could have access to the thoughts of these people. So
of course I followed hands in Zack and Isaac or

whoever was on there. And I think I had been
quite vocal ever since I was doing interviews about how
much I loved Hansen.

Okay, I still listen.

They're great, Yes they are. Look, So I had been
vocal about how much I loved them many times. And
I think Two Bury Girls was was was popular or
something at that time. So they they they saw something
about it, and I straight up got it.

Yes Taylor Hanson, and he was like, hey you ever
I was like, yeah, h we'll do it for I
will pay you. Yeah, yeah, I will do anything you want.

I will do whatever.

Yes, So I got to be in a handsome music
video with my friend Nikki Reid, and it was one
of the best days of my life. It was so surreal.
It was it was so surreal. And I know that
you know this, but like when you're a teen, I'm
just a say girl, because I don't know what it's
like to not be that You're like, your obsessions are
(06:42):
so important, yes, Like my love for Hanson at that
time was was so like important to me and they
were a part of my daily existence in a really pure, precious,
like sweet way where yes, you know, so as an
(07:02):
adult you kind of like your brain finally like closes
up or whatever, and yeah, like being insane or maybe
not in my case, less a little less demented, not
not completely, but like you know, I don't have obsessions
and I don't feel the obsession that I did as
a young kid. Yeah, but something like opened up in

that day where I was fully able to like close
the circle and like recognize how like magical and and
crazy it was that like this person got to like
be in a music video with them. That's just it's
just nuts.

And I don't just sit with friends of today, I
reunite with friends.

I remember this moment he had like come to visit
me in Italy and there was this like field of
sunflowers on the way to where we're going, and he
tells the driver's staff the car and he looks at
me what's out his hand, And I'm.

Like, oh, no, oh, no, what are we doing?
Speaker 9 (08:45):
We have to run into these through these flowers, like
really looking for just like a movie. And I knew
in that moment that I was just like, I'm not
I'm not a person what he's like ultimately gonna need
and I and we got a little way into that field,
but I was just like, I don't I don't know
about this. But the thing that I can definitely give

to young Danielle is that even though we were each
other's first lot of things, I remember he one time
made the I feel that sharing with the lightly personal business,
but I feel like he would be okay. He's very
open and warm and accepting and loving to his younger self.
I remember one time he said to me like, if
(09:31):
you weren't with me, you know, who would you want
to be with? And I realized in retrospect that he
was probably thinking I'd be like, oh, I don't know
James c and if he was still alive or something
like that. But instead I say the name of my
ex boyfriend and he takes it on the chin and
(09:52):
I was like, I realized that I've probably answered wrong,
And then I say, well what about you? And he goes, Danielle,
what the presses? I think I didn't remember?
Speaker 2 (10:06):
Yeah, So then did you not like me after that?
Speaker 9 (10:11):
No?
Speaker 2 (10:13):
Well not now now I'm sure, I'm sure it's fine,
but at the time where you like.
Speaker 9 (10:18):
I remember directly trying to figure out if I was
in trouble first, because I was just like real, real.

Which I was not.

Here's a clip with my vacation chaperone, ninety eight Degrees, Drewliche,

now at least the second time you've been forced to
hang out with me, the first time being in Cancun
when I went to visit Lance, and then the minute

I got there, Lance and the rest of the Insinct
boys left to do a random new opportunity to perform
a show somewhere, and I was basically solo in Cancun,
and Lance said, here, it's no problem, I'll just set
you up with the ninety eight degrees guys. They're the greatest,
and you'll just hang out with them. And I literally
just followed you guys around for like at least forty
(11:23):
eight hours.
Speaker 10 (11:24):
There were some random booze cruise in there somewhere, and
there was I don't I don't even remember what we
were down there.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
For but yeah, those were it was a spring break.
Speaker 10 (11:32):
Well, yes, we weren't supposed to remember it.
Speaker 11 (11:34):
Yeah, no, it was a it was a blast, you know,
those those opportunities, so many of them came along, and
it's when you look back on it, like there are
so there was so much that was just condensed into
those you know a couple of years.

It's it's really kind of this crazy whirlwind of a ride.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Do you remember than ever feeling like, why did Lance
just pawn this girl off on us?
Speaker 10 (11:58):
You did?

If so, you never let on.

I have told everyone I've ever spoken to about you
guys about how incredibly kind and nice you were, because
you just took me in like I was one of
your family members, and you made sure I never walked
back to my hotel alone. You made sure I always
had plans for dinner, like anything you guys were doing.

You guys just made sure I knew I was invited.
Speaker 10 (12:25):
Well, it was either stare at the other three schmucks
that are in the group or or look at you.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
So it was like, what was I mean?

You were an upgrade to the other three guys, And
I'm sure me me as well. You know, no, I
think we just you know, we're guys from Ohio.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
So yeah, you're gentlemen.

Yeah, you want to take make sure everybody's taking care
of especially if a friend says, hey, you know, yeah
this is somebody that's important to me, look look out for,
then you're going to look out for you know.

We ran into each other at a Janet Jackson concert,
which honestly is where I'd like to meet everyone in
my life moving forward, check out my talk with the
very talented Evette Nicole Brown.

When I was in seventh grade, it was this guy
I really liked. I thought he was a cute thing
I've ever seen. Now, I will not say his name
because I do still know him. Okay, I don't won't
say his name, but I thought he was great. And
there was a girl friend of mine. She's now a friend,
but she was really mean to me on this particular day.
She used to date this guy date yeah exactly when.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Yeah, they once looked at each other across the across
the pot.
Speaker 6 (13:25):
They once held hands at reason, but she used to
date him and they had broken up, and she knew that.
I thought he was super duper cute and so one
day she came up to me and she said, so
and SO likes you, and I said no. She said, yeah,
he likes you, and I think you should write him
a note and ask him if he likes you too,
and you should give it to him tomorrow. And I
(13:47):
was like, my god, he likes me like I never
thought he would like me. So I'm talking to my
friends and I'm like, okay, well you should wear this shirt.
And one of my friends let me borrow her. One
of my friends let me borrow her little earrings. I
remember I having this this black and white I'll never
forget the outfit, black and white striped shirt with these
poof it was the eighties, yes, right, And she gave
me these spot these plastic spiral earrings that were also

black and white.

So I'm ready.

I got the outfit. Penmanship is on point. I'm writing
the note, dear so and So, I really like you too,
you know, would you like my number? I don't even
know what I put the note. It's a blur because
it was so traumatic. So I get to school and
I have lunch. I either had lunch first or study
hall first. I had lunch first, then study hall. So
I go to lunch and he also has lunch first
and then study hall. He's there, he is gorgeous cross

the room. It's my moment.

So I walk up.

He's talking to his friends.

I walk up.

I give him the note, Danielle like, give them the
note listeners. And he said, what's this? And I said,
and he didn't say it, like, what's this? He said,
what's this?

And I said, you know, oh.

It looks so confident.

She really you never first second did you think did
you think maybe she's doing something to screw me over?

No, I thought, this is this is a lovely thing
she's doing. She sees the love is supposed to happen,
and she's just about to happen. So he opened the note,
so in front of me, you read the note. He
laughed at the note. He showed the note to the
friends with him, and then he passed the note around
the lunch room. And the bottom line was, how dare

she think that I whatever? So I, of course am
face on the ground. I scurry out of there. I've
never scurried in my life, but I scurried. Scurried that
scurried out of there. And I got to the bathroom
because I didn't want to go to study hall.

I went to the bathroom, pulled my feet up on
the on this this things locked the door in the stall,
just like, okay, what just happened? Like I couldn't I
was twelve. I couldn't process that level of cruelty.

I did not.

Understand because again, I'm the one that's like everybody can
sit with me, So I don't understand going out of
your way to harm. I've never understood. So I'm in
there and then people are coming in, girls are coming
in and the only topic is.

Me everyone, And because you're feed are up, they don't
even know you're there, so the gay care, They're just
still talking about you.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
You're here at all.

Can you believe e Vet was dumb enough to think
blah blah blah, Oh my god, he would never like it.
I can't believe. I die. I'm so embarrassed for her.
So I didn't have to go to study hall because
lunch is over, I have to go to study hall
check in. I get in study hall and I just
put my head down on my desk and I'm just like,
I'm crying.

The girl that did this to me, comes and sits
in front of me, and she leans down and she goes,
I can't believe you thought he would ever like you?
How dumb are you?

And finally, fresh off the return of Malcolm in the Middle,
I chatted with Frankie Munez, who may just be the
most interesting person I've ever talked to. Here's a clip.
What age did racing become an interest for you? You
said you were always interested in cars, but when did
the idea of racing them?
Speaker 4 (16:46):
I same there. I remember being a kid. My family
did not like racing, So that's not like I went
to races with my dad or they didn't watch it
on TV. But I always woke up at like four
or five in the morning, even when I was five
six years old. Yeah, you know, I'd go in the
living room and I put on the TV. And on
the weekends, the Formula One races would be on at
like five am because it's you know, they're in Europe
(17:08):
or whatever. And I remember watching those, and I watched
the IndyCar races, and I watched NASCAR races and I
remember loving it, but like it never crossed my mind
that I ever would be a race car driver. Because
like it's like saying you want to be an astronaut,
Like yeah, it's a dream, but like how do you
how do you do that? Like right, you know, no
one really does that, you know what I mean? So
I actually I thought about this the other day and
(17:30):
I and it was the first time I thought about it.
The reason why I'm a race car driver is actually
because of Brian Kranston. And I don't think I've ever
said this out loud to like on an interview. So
he did. He and Chris Masterson, who played Francis on
Malcolm they got invited to do the Toyota Grand Prix
of Long Beach Pro celebrity race. And this was like
(17:52):
two thousand and two or two thousand and three, and
Brian came back from that and he goes, it was
the most critible thing I've ever done in my life.
And if you because you knew I loved cars, It's like,
if they ever ask you, you have to say yes,
but you have to be eighteen. I think I was
seventeen at the time. So the following year they asked me,
I was like, yeah, I do it. And they send
(18:14):
you out to like Palmdale and you like train at
Willow Springs Raceway for a few weeks and it is
a very serious as a pro sutter race, but like
it's very serious, there's still going there's still a risk
of death, yes, like yeah, and I just remember loving it,
but I didn't think I'd be good at it. But
I ended up winning the race.
Speaker 9 (18:34):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
But that feeling, I mean, I've experienced a lot of
cool things in my life. That feeling of crossing the
finish line first is unlike anything I've ever experienced. Because
like as an actor, I could dedicate my life to
a role or to a job and put in what
I think is the best performance I've ever done in
my life and people see it and they're like, eh,
(18:56):
there's okay, you're subjective, right, Some people love it, some
people hate it. You know, where in racing, if you're
the best, you win, and if you're not, you don't.
You know, it's right there, you know. And I've never
had something that had been a part of that that's
the case. So winning that was amazing. A pro team
(19:17):
approached me after that race and was like, hey, we
we'd love to just put you in the car just
for fun, like just for a test. Just come down
fight to Houston. We'll put you in the race car.
You can have two fun days and that'll be it.
I was like, okay, and I remember sitting in the
race car. They were molding my seat because like they
mold the sea into your body, and I was trembling.
(19:37):
I was so scared because I was like, I don't
know what I'm doing. I have no idea what I'm doing.
And cut to the end of the two days, I
was faster than their like professional driver, and they were like,
we didn't really think anything of this, but like you
you should do this, Like what's your experience. I go
the pro celebrity race and Long Beach, you know. And
(19:58):
so they signed me to a two year development deal
and the next thing I knew, like a month later,
not knowing the rules of what the race, of the
racing or what I was doing, I was racing against
some of the top drivers in the world, and I
was a professional driver, so it just kind of happened.

quite vocal ever since I was doing interviews about how
much I loved Hansen.

I think Two Bury Girls was was was popular or
something at that time. So they they they saw something

Yes, So I got to be in a handsome music
video with my friend Nikki Reid, and it was one
of the best days of my life. It was so surreal.
It was it was so surreal. And I know that
you know this, but like when you're a teen, I'm
just a say girl, because I don't know what it's
like to not be that You're like, your obsessions are

so important, yes, Like my love for Hanson at that
time was was so like important to me and they
were a part of my daily existence in a really pure, precious,
like sweet way where yes, you know, so as an

adult you kind of like your brain finally like closes
up or whatever, and yeah, like being insane or maybe
not in my case, less a little less demented, not
not completely, but like you know, I don't have obsessions
and I don't feel the obsession that I did as
a young kid. Yeah, but something like opened up in

that day where I was fully able to like close
the circle and like recognize how like magical and and
crazy it was that like this person got to like
be in a music video with them. That's just it's
just nuts.

We have to run into these through these flowers, like
really looking for just like a movie. And I knew
in that moment that I was just like, I'm not
I'm not a person what he's like ultimately gonna need
and I and we got a little way into that field,
but I was just like, I don't I don't know
about this. But the thing that I can definitely give

to young Danielle is that even though we were each
other's first lot of things, I remember he one time
made the I feel that sharing with the lightly personal business,
but I feel like he would be okay. He's very
open and warm and accepting and loving to his younger self.
I remember one time he said to me like, if

you weren't with me, you know, who would you want
to be with? And I realized in retrospect that he
was probably thinking I'd be like, oh, I don't know
James c and if he was still alive or something
like that. But instead I say the name of my
ex boyfriend and he takes it on the chin and
(09:52):
I was like, I realized that I've probably answered wrong,
And then I say, well what about you? And he goes, Danielle,
what the presses? I think I didn't remember?

Yeah, So then did you not like me after that?
Speaker 9 (10:11):

Well not now now I'm sure, I'm sure it's fine,
but at the time where you like.

I remember directly trying to figure out if I was
in trouble first, because I was just like real, real.

I got there, Lance and the rest of the Insinct
boys left to do a random new opportunity to perform
a show somewhere, and I was basically solo in Cancun,
and Lance said, here, it's no problem, I'll just set
you up with the ninety eight degrees guys. They're the greatest,
and you'll just hang out with them. And I literally
just followed you guys around for like at least forty

eight hours.
Speaker 10 (11:24):
There were some random booze cruise in there somewhere, and
there was I don't I don't even remember what we
were down there.
Speaker 4 (11:29):
For but yeah, those were it was a spring break.
Speaker 10 (11:32):
Well, yes, we weren't supposed to remember it.
Speaker 11 (11:34):
Yeah, no, it was a it was a blast, you know,
those those opportunities, so many of them came along, and
it's when you look back on it, like there are
so there was so much that was just condensed into
those you know a couple of years.

It's it's really kind of this crazy whirlwind of a ride.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Do you remember than ever feeling like, why did Lance
just pawn this girl off on us?
Speaker 10 (11:58):

I have told everyone I've ever spoken to about you
guys about how incredibly kind and nice you were, because
you just took me in like I was one of
your family members, and you made sure I never walked
back to my hotel alone. You made sure I always
had plans for dinner, like anything you guys were doing.

You guys just made sure I knew I was invited.
Speaker 10 (12:25):
Well, it was either stare at the other three schmucks
that are in the group or or look at you.

So it was like, what was I mean?

You were an upgrade to the other three guys, And
I'm sure me me as well. You know, no, I
think we just you know, we're guys from Ohio.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
So yeah, you're gentlemen.

Yeah, you want to take make sure everybody's taking care
of especially if a friend says, hey, you know, yeah
this is somebody that's important to me, look look out for,
then you're going to look out for you know.

We ran into each other at a Janet Jackson concert,
which honestly is where I'd like to meet everyone in

When I was in seventh grade, it was this guy
I really liked. I thought he was a cute thing
I've ever seen. Now, I will not say his name
because I do still know him. Okay, I don't won't
say his name, but I thought he was great. And
there was a girl friend of mine. She's now a friend,
but she was really mean to me on this particular day.
She used to date this guy date yeah exactly when.
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Yeah, they once looked at each other across the across
the pot.
Speaker 6 (13:25):
They once held hands at reason, but she used to
date him and they had broken up, and she knew that.
I thought he was super duper cute and so one
day she came up to me and she said, so
and SO likes you, and I said no. She said, yeah,
he likes you, and I think you should write him
a note and ask him if he likes you too,
and you should give it to him tomorrow. And I
(13:47):
was like, my god, he likes me like I never
thought he would like me. So I'm talking to my
friends and I'm like, okay, well you should wear this shirt.
And one of my friends let me borrow her. One
of my friends let me borrow her little earrings. I
remember I having this this black and white I'll never
forget the outfit, black and white striped shirt with these
poof it was the eighties, yes, right, And she gave
me these spot these plastic spiral earrings that were also
(14:08):
black and white.
Speaker 2 (14:08):
So I'm ready.
Speaker 6 (14:09):
I got the outfit. Penmanship is on point. I'm writing
the note, dear so and So, I really like you too,
you know, would you like my number? I don't even
know what I put the note. It's a blur because
it was so traumatic. So I get to school and
I have lunch. I either had lunch first or study
hall first. I had lunch first, then study hall. So
I go to lunch and he also has lunch first
and then study hall. He's there, he is gorgeous cross

the room. It's my moment.
Speaker 9 (14:33):
So I walk up.
Speaker 6 (14:33):
He's talking to his friends.
Speaker 1 (14:34):
I walk up.
Speaker 6 (14:35):
I give him the note, Danielle like, give them the
note listeners. And he said, what's this? And I said,
and he didn't say it, like, what's this? He said,
what's this?
Speaker 2 (14:43):
And I said, you know, oh.
Speaker 4 (14:46):
It looks so confident.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
She really you never first second did you think did
you think maybe she's doing something to screw me over?
Speaker 4 (14:53):
Oh?
Speaker 6 (14:53):
No, I thought, this is this is a lovely thing
she's doing. She sees the love is supposed to happen,
and she's just about to happen. So he opened the note,
so in front of me, you read the note. He
laughed at the note. He showed the note to the
friends with him, and then he passed the note around
the lunch room. And the bottom line was, how dare
(15:13):
she think that I whatever? So I, of course am
face on the ground. I scurry out of there. I've
never scurried in my life, but I scurried. Scurried that
scurried out of there. And I got to the bathroom
because I didn't want to go to study hall.
Speaker 7 (15:29):
Two.
Speaker 6 (15:29):
I went to the bathroom, pulled my feet up on
the on this this things locked the door in the stall,
just like, okay, what just happened? Like I couldn't I
was twelve. I couldn't process that level of cruelty.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
I did not.
Speaker 6 (15:39):
Understand because again, I'm the one that's like everybody can
sit with me, So I don't understand going out of
your way to harm. I've never understood. So I'm in
there and then people are coming in, girls are coming
in and the only topic is.
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Me everyone, And because you're feed are up, they don't
even know you're there, so the gay care, They're just
still talking about you.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
You're here at all.
Speaker 6 (16:01):
Can you believe e Vet was dumb enough to think
blah blah blah, Oh my god, he would never like it.
I can't believe. I die. I'm so embarrassed for her.
So I didn't have to go to study hall because
lunch is over, I have to go to study hall
check in. I get in study hall and I just
put my head down on my desk and I'm just like,
I'm crying.
Speaker 4 (16:16):
It's bad.
Speaker 6 (16:17):
The girl that did this to me, comes and sits
in front of me, and she leans down and she goes,
I can't believe you thought he would ever like you?
How dumb are you?
Speaker 2 (16:28):
And finally, fresh off the return of Malcolm in the Middle,
I chatted with Frankie Munez, who may just be the
most interesting person I've ever talked to. Here's a clip.
What age did racing become an interest for you? You
said you were always interested in cars, but when did
the idea of racing them?
Speaker 4 (16:46):
I same there. I remember being a kid. My family
did not like racing, So that's not like I went
to races with my dad or they didn't watch it
on TV. But I always woke up at like four
or five in the morning, even when I was five
six years old. Yeah, you know, I'd go in the
living room and I put on the TV. And on
the weekends, the Formula One races would be on at
like five am because it's you know, they're in Europe
(17:08):
or whatever. And I remember watching those, and I watched
the IndyCar races, and I watched NASCAR races and I
remember loving it, but like it never crossed my mind
that I ever would be a race car driver. Because
like it's like saying you want to be an astronaut,
Like yeah, it's a dream, but like how do you
how do you do that? Like right, you know, no
one really does that, you know what I mean? So
I actually I thought about this the other day and
(17:30):
I and it was the first time I thought about it.
The reason why I'm a race car driver is actually
because of Brian Kranston. And I don't think I've ever
said this out loud to like on an interview. So
he did. He and Chris Masterson, who played Francis on
Malcolm they got invited to do the Toyota Grand Prix
of Long Beach Pro celebrity race. And this was like
(17:52):
two thousand and two or two thousand and three, and
Brian came back from that and he goes, it was
the most critible thing I've ever done in my life.
And if you because you knew I loved cars, It's like,
if they ever ask you, you have to say yes,
but you have to be eighteen. I think I was
seventeen at the time. So the following year they asked me,
I was like, yeah, I do it. And they send
(18:14):
you out to like Palmdale and you like train at
Willow Springs Raceway for a few weeks and it is
a very serious as a pro sutter race, but like
it's very serious, there's still going there's still a risk
of death, yes, like yeah, and I just remember loving it,
but I didn't think I'd be good at it. But
I ended up winning the race.
Speaker 9 (18:34):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 4 (18:35):
But that feeling, I mean, I've experienced a lot of
cool things in my life. That feeling of crossing the
finish line first is unlike anything I've ever experienced. Because
like as an actor, I could dedicate my life to
a role or to a job and put in what
I think is the best performance I've ever done in
my life and people see it and they're like, eh,
(18:56):
there's okay, you're subjective, right, Some people love it, some
people hate it. You know, where in racing, if you're
the best, you win, and if you're not, you don't.
You know, it's right there, you know. And I've never
had something that had been a part of that that's
the case. So winning that was amazing. A pro team
(19:17):
approached me after that race and was like, hey, we
we'd love to just put you in the car just
for fun, like just for a test. Just come down
fight to Houston. We'll put you in the race car.
You can have two fun days and that'll be it.
I was like, okay, and I remember sitting in the
race car. They were molding my seat because like they
mold the sea into your body, and I was trembling.
(19:37):
I was so scared because I was like, I don't
know what I'm doing. I have no idea what I'm doing.
And cut to the end of the two days, I
was faster than their like professional driver, and they were like,
we didn't really think anything of this, but like you
you should do this, Like what's your experience. I go
the pro celebrity race and Long Beach, you know. And
(19:58):
so they signed me to a two year development deal
and the next thing I knew, like a month later,
not knowing the rules of what the race, of the
racing or what I was doing, I was racing against
some of the top drivers in the world, and I
was a professional driver, so it just kind of happened.
