Speaker 1 (00:00):
Yeah, we go live.

Speaker 2 (00:01):
I don't have to do a game this game right there.

Speaker 1 (00:06):
I'm sorry that.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
All right, Welcome to another episode of Tigers Minor League
Podcasts or Tiger's Emo Report here Tigers emo dot com.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
That's a bad start. I'm hok. So long a time
Chris Brown and Red and they presented by.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
A fan duel as Tigers are heading to the bottom
top of the time for now five four Boston and
a very ugly game for reasons that our weather, uh
injury related and all that. So I just want to
give a quick shout out to the Huron River Mustangs,
my nephew's baseball team who finished runner up in the
Grassake Tournament Pinched for one. And so I just want

(01:21):
to give a shout out to my nephe because I
promise that I would. And yeah, go stanks, Go stanks.
They have some in these days now they're they're wondering,
it's weird. The uniform colors are a lot more louder
and you know it's hey, Je'm gonna see it in
the chat. So the Mustangs have a very loud color
palette out to show you the.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Jersey brand in some time, but they have city Connects
pretty much pretty much.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
Did the equivalent of City Connects essentially. But yeah, but
plenty to get to though.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Yeah, as it was one of those things where.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Today I literally was going online for the first time
in a while. I was working, and I was trying
to bury myself in work, and I was also working
on the Tiger Minor Leu Report newsletter that will be
out tomorrow. I did a whole thing on the outfield,
to the potential the future outfield that Chris and I
talked about this idea earlier. And then I look and

(02:18):
John Haymen goes, oh, Derek schob was instractionally start tonight.

Speaker 1 (02:21):
All right, well, all right, well, you know whatever, it's cool.
Something happens.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Then you see Evan Petzold haven't saying that he's having
surgery to remove loose bodies?

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Yeah, you're right, Charles, that's right.

Speaker 3 (02:41):
Six month ads I made appearance tonight and three of them,
three or four of them were very called like it
was funny because I think we we did it over
unders a month.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Ago, I said, I said over five? Was it five?

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Chris?

Speaker 1 (02:52):
We said set it up for.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Oh, well that was prospects in particular. So for that
it had to be people making their debuts. So we've
had two. Is it's still just Lee and in Google
right my?

Speaker 1 (03:07):
But the Amber reliever maybe no starter.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
I mean, NASCAR's pitched there before, Man pitched before. The
Haeses is pitching the big leagues before. Yeah, Young has
been up and down a bunch. Zach Short, we've seen
him before. Yeah, Yeah, it's it's I mean, that is
the thing. Like you look at it today and you go, okay,
So this is a this is a pitching chaos day,
and it's it's tough enough to do that, right, everybody

(03:31):
has to ship in and do their part. And then
when you do it with three guys who were ATLEDO
last week, Uh, it's it's just tough. And you know,
this is as good as time Madden will ever be, probably,
and it's unfortunate that the you know, Fanasco and and
the Hazes couldn't quite keep it going. But the bankers
are violently trying to come back right now, so we'll
see what happens.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
Yeah what Chapman entering the ninth, the guy who's in
his lead thirty is still throwing one hundred and two
like it's nothing. Because all you have to do is
figure out where the place is. Damn all like sort
of aiming the ball, and all of a sudden he's like, Oh,
that's what I've been missing all these years.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
M hm, oh I'm good again.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yeah, I'm good again. She's ol Petz. But uh no,
I can't hate on that.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
But yeah, it was. It was. The news was devastating.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
And but out of all people who gave me the
most valuable information was Kurt Shilling, who tweeted out, Kurt Chilly,
I don't know if you saw that, not Chris.

Speaker 1 (04:20):
Or just right, did you? Did you see that?

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Now?

Speaker 3 (04:23):
So basically Kurt Shilling just came out and said, look,
I would have pitched, Like I'm paraphrased a little bit,
but essentially I would have pitched the World Baseball I
would not have him pitched World Baseball Classic, although I
would have pitched, he said. And basically, the surgery doesn't
put him out that long, he said he had it.
He was back within I think seventeen days or something
like that, something like that.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
But uh.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Yeah, I mean that's nice for Kurt Shilling. But yeah,
I mean, I mean it's obviously not worst case scenario.
I mean he didn't blow his elbow out. You know,
they go in, they clean the bone chips out. It's
not like a majorly invasive procedure or and he probably
will be you know, in four weeks, you know, able
to start throwing and start working his way back, but

(05:07):
it might take you know, another three four weeks until
he's tark schooble again. So yeah, I mean, I'm really
not banking on seeing scoobs until July sometime, which you know,
I mean, there just isn't a way around around it.
There's no GM move, there's no there's nothing sneaky you
can do. They're gonna have to hold it together and

(05:28):
you know, hope they get myes and hope they get
melting back, you know, toward the end of the month.
But I don't know, the season is probably gonna come
down to like the next three weeks now, you know,
as long as they don't dig themselves into a you know,
an early grave, they might be okay, and they might
be able to turn things around and get some momentum
going when some of those guys come back. But you
know that for right now, it's it's just gonna be
a mad scramble and Yeah, I mean, it was great

(05:49):
to see Time Madden come up. You know, the last
time he was up. You know, I'm sure he didn't
didn't expect it was gonna be almost two years until
he got back to the major leagues. And we saw
some you know, some ninety five and ninety six out
of them, which is kind but I've been waiting for
but we've still never we all know this, we've just
never seen him really command everything. And for Time Madden
to be successful, he's got to be able to command

(06:09):
the cutter splitter, both fastball types and the curveball, because
he can't throw a ton of fastballs. As long as
he can get away with it and not being into
his fastball too much, he might be all right, But yeah,
I mean obviously, you know, these circumstances are less than ideal,
that's for sure. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
The fastball really only sequences when it has a little
bit upper velocity to it, and he really if his
cutter's really I mean he's cutter, right. I think he
had a thirty eight percent whift rate or something like that.
Tin but he really needs that fastball to kind of
spot it in there and get away with it, because
when the guys are sitting the cutter or sitting that
split or splitter.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
I think those are splitters to that or the curve. Yeah,
he can stink the fastball in there, but yeah, it's
kind of hard.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Yeah, he command all those. I mean, he's always had
a deep mix, and if he could command those and
throw them for strikes, he can get away with, you know,
throwing the fastball around the edges when he doesn't have
to use it, but he's having If he's having to
get back and accounts with the fastball, it's gonna be
a big problem pretty fast. But I mean that's kind
of how it is for you know, Dajesus or any
you know sort of like fifth sixth starter type. For
the most part, they're they're they're kind of all that way.

(07:11):
If if they had huge fastballs and couldn't command things,
they'd become a reliever. It does make sense that John
Hayman was the first one to notice this too, because
John Hayman, you know, needs his weekly article on tark
Schooble and how he should be traded or who's going
to sign it ever or whatever. He's been milking the
cow all, you know, since the end of last season.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
So yeah, and also the Mets sucking too.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Oh yeah, he's got nothing, he's got nothing else right
about and so yeah, now there's all the recriminated Oh
they should have traded Schoogle like blah blah blah. You know,
if someone had offered them, you know, the world on
this offseason, Scott Harris might have might have seriously considered it,
but it didn't sound like anybody did. You know, no
one was rolling in with you know, Nolan Klaan or
you know, River Ryan and another top prospect from the

(07:52):
Dodgers or something like that. And you know, at the
end of the season, if if they don't trade him
at the deadline, the Tigers will get the cop pick
and they'll get extra bonus money. And you know, I
mean that's as valuable to I think, to the three
of us, considering how well they've drafted as you know,
like a back of the top one hundred prospect, although
it would be nice to have a you know, another

(08:14):
pitching prospect, But I just don't think they were ever
in a position where where anybody was like wowing them
to the point where it was like, oh, they had
to trade him. So yeah, you know, this is one
of those things.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
Well, you know, Chris, go ahead and I'm.

Speaker 4 (08:27):
Sorry, Oh yeah, no, I just have scattered thoughts about here,
you know I have. We'll start with the deeply negative, right.
First of all, this is one of the bigger bummer
days for Tigers fans in a while, particularly if the
Tigers can't come back tonight. But the one thing I
will say is sometimes they go in there, take a
little look at that elbow and go, oh, like they

(08:50):
might see something else in there. You know, hopefully it
is just loose bodies, but they like, where did those
loose bodies come from? What broke loose? And you know
he's already had you see, surgery, so they may go
in there and go, oh, man, this he needs an
internal brace or something that may happen. It may be
quicker than we expect. And I think the big thing

(09:10):
to remember is the guy who's pitching tomorrow has still
been one of the ten best pitchers in baseball, and
so now he's kind of your front line guy, and
that's a pretty good place to be. Not a lot
of other teams can say that, where they have another
guy behind their ace who is one of the better
pictures in baseball. So that's a great place to start.
And then it's a matter, like Brandon said, of just
kind of surviving this month when they're not playing a

(09:32):
ton of great teams. Now, you know, it never really
matters how good a team is. It's you know, when
you play them. But you survive this around five hundred
and then you start getting some bodies back. Theoretically, now,
who knows, maybe more will just get shedded. He'll lose
them like so many petals of an onion, but pedals
of an onion, I guess if an onion blossom a
red onion. But yeah, I mean Mountain. We saw Mountain

(09:54):
make his first rehab appearance Verlanders out there somewhere and
then down the road and see, you know, Troy Watson
is making his way through. He's another guy that they
could use. Theoretically, Joe will be back at some point,
so they just got to kind of survive for the
next month or so.

Speaker 2 (10:11):
In Casey May's, you know, shoot it again. You never
know with like those soft tissue things. But it didn't
seem bad. It seemed like he felt it and immediately
came out and it wasn't terrible, So you know, I
mean you can be optimistic that he'll probably be back,
you know, sometime around the end of the month hopefully.
But yeah, it's just all all gonna be about holding
the line here, and if the bullpen was pitching better

(10:31):
and like some of the things that they'd worked out,
like the Hazus, I mean, Drew Anderson's been better lately,
the Hayesus will probably find his way to some modicum
of you know, four point five era level success. I
would expect still, although we haven't seen it, you know,
I mean, if those guys were doing okay and will
Vest wasn't hurt, you know, I mean, it's it's just
piling up. You know, you could you could survive a

(10:53):
thing like this a lot better if it wasn't the
last injury in a long string of them, you know.
So here we are.

Speaker 3 (11:00):
Yeah, as far as Trevor Bauer goes, look, I mean
somebody's mentioned.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
That's not gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (11:07):
I mean no more like it's not the Tigers, don't
it's a guy.

Speaker 1 (11:11):
He's not guy.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
He's not good. He's not good anymore that he threw
a no hitter in the Atlantic League or whatever he
was had like the worst Era of anybody in whatever
league he was in last year.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Well plus everyone in the Major League Baseball seems to
hate him, and I tend to start to think, like, well,
there's probably a pretty good reason, and he's not good
and no one likes him, and he tends to be
a prima donna, and it's you know, no one, no
one wants to deal about this. There's a reason he
got black balled. That's not because you know, of his
political affiliations or whatever people might think.

Speaker 4 (11:45):
No, it's it's because he shares.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
With ninety percent of you know, baseball players.

Speaker 4 (11:49):
It's because of he's a selfish person and player like
it just it's I don't know, this has been litigated
like a billion times.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
Right, Yeah, everybody just stopped trying to make Trevor better.

Speaker 4 (12:01):
Off, going to get Taiwan Walker or Yeah, it's like
somebody else's who's readily available and isn't giving you fifteen
headlines a day when they are pitching like the fifth
guy in your rotation.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
You know, I just thought about somebody that's available, who's
getting paid right now, sitting around doing nothing, and he
could you know, wasn't bad, wasn't great, But I mean
if I think about this, if I think about this player,
does he does he do a lot of the headlines
sort of Marcus Struman, Look, look, I mean like that's

(12:35):
not like, Look, Marcus Strouman is an idea, more of
a better idea than Trevor Bauer. Whether he wants I mean,
he even said he's like, I don't have to pitch,
and he's not pitching. He doesn't want to pitch, doesn't
want to pitch. So if that's an route you want
to go now eternally speaking, because we did get a
couple of questions of like, looking e ttle, let's see

(12:55):
here there was Bruce Seed. Yeah, Charlie, thank you so
much for the ten dollars much appreciated.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Here, exquisite thank you. Yeah, so thank you for that.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
But so if you're looking at eternal options here, I
think it was Bruce that was asking about a couple
of guys here.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
Who pitches Detroit? Who pitches next for Detroit? Schooble or job.
I'll be close.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
But as far as options go down to Toledo, Summers
is Summers is hurt again, isn't he?

Speaker 4 (13:23):
Uh No, I think he's pitching Summers.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Pitching Okay, all right, I thought maybe I thought it
was hurt again because yeah, yeah, okay, I'm sorry, I
got my They're they're on that.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
But as far as Eric Silva goes, he just got called.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
Up Toledo rainer Tana Riley has been used more of
as a closer. He could get some consideration, but I
still think his command's really off up.

Speaker 4 (13:49):
Yeah, yeah, you're not getting anything special out of Tenranny.
Like with any of these reliever issues, you're hoping to
catch lighting a bottle for a little bit, Like you
saw an Asco got the job done the other day.
In today, three batters in and lead was gone. Like
that's the level of reliever you're dealing with. You're bringing
up from Toledo at this point, it's yeah, they all
have decent arms, not enough consistency, not enough strikes for

(14:09):
the most part.

Speaker 2 (14:11):
And why I like to see wu suck go move up. Yeah,
you might as well put him up in triple A,
because I mean, if the bullpen had like another really
good arm, then you can kind of do whatever you want,
right and you can use Herder, then you can use
Anderson and you can kind of make that work at
least for one turn. But it's tough. It's tough taking
anybody who's pitching well out of the bullpen right now.
So yeah, I mean there's just not a ton of options.

(14:33):
And we haven't heard anything about Andrew Sears, haven't heard
anything about Jake Miller. Both of those guys are not
really like at the point where they should be able
to get right and stretched out and then help you.
It's probably gonna take some time, but yeah, even though
all you can do is go get yourself a six
starter off of you know, off the pile somewhere.

Speaker 1 (14:52):
Really yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
No, And here's the thing too, if you look at
even Brian Samon's he's he's walking to men, you guys
down Toledo. So if you think about the him as
an option as well, just say and the other thing too,
year he's down four guys right now, so yeah, four guys. Yeah,
so because burhand Kevin Cosser, that's funny, like Kaepernick says

(15:14):
the arm strength Ricky Vaughan, No fine, or you know,
if you if you're gonna go with h Larueue from
H the Durham Bulls, if you will, I forgot his name,
last name, but like stretching out Mitchell's idea of stretching
out her, who was a starter until he got to
the majors, is a good idea. I think Anderson has
been pitching better, He's been working on you know, he's

(15:35):
just been sequencing better, and so the results of Velocity helps.
But yeah, as far as the one that the things
that I'm confused about the most, and Bruce bought this
up in the chat is the fact that Workman, until
Chris told me and realize that Workman has been kind
of really bad at short this year in Toledo.

Speaker 4 (15:54):
Well yeah, yeah, but like.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Zach Short coming back, imagine being engaged working right now,
going you.

Speaker 1 (16:01):
Bring that Short from the Nationals. By the way, he
went uh.

Speaker 3 (16:06):
Short went over four. I believe the night he went
oh for three with a strikeout. Yeah here yeah, same here.

Speaker 1 (16:14):
I rather see Navagado.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
This is this is you know, this is the anti
Trevor Bauer, right you. They they go and get a
guy that they the people in the locker room like,
or that a J. Hinch trusts. As Roger pointed out
that Short is a great golfer. They need another golfer
in there. So yeah, I don't know, I mean like
it Yeah, if you're Jase Young or if your Gage Workman,
you've got to be looking at it like boy like.

(16:38):
And with with Young at least, it's like, Okay, he
doesn't play shortstop and they want somebody who can at
least play shortstop. Workman can play shortstop. You know, maybe
he's not the best at it, but he's played it
for years now. He's probably better at third.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (16:52):
And instead of calling him up, he's having you know,
as good as season as he's ever had in the miners.
And they went and traded for somebody else, So that
tells you and not just you know, with somebody else
that they didn't had to put on the forty man.
So it was like, yeah, like he is not an
option to them.

Speaker 2 (17:07):
Yeah. It was one of those kind of classic like
strange like sequences a move though where it's like, you know,
like little vest to the I l you know, Jase
Young gets sent down. Zach Short, you know, to the
forty man. Grant Holman, who they just picked up like
three weeks ago and apparently liked, gets d fade and
it's like, what why is Zach Short here? Why is
Zach Short playing for my faceboo team? Again, you know,

(17:29):
I mean Jace Young, I thought it was because Glabor
was hurt. Oh that's great. Yeah, he just stashed him.

Speaker 4 (17:37):
Yea for the for the audio. Yeah yeah, sorry, said
Scott Harris. Was the kid who didn't open his action figures.

Speaker 2 (17:45):
Yep, he still got all the agin I was.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
Gonna say, go ahead.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Sorry, Brandon was in the middle of the point.

Speaker 2 (17:52):
Well, I mean, it was just, you know, it's just
that these like these weird moves that like don't really
add up to any anything tangible or like, I can't
be mad about that sequence of moves because fundamentally, who cares.
But it still doesn't make much sense to me. And
it's like, if Jase Young can't play second base for
you and you don't think he can help you with
the bat, why isn't he getting deafayed? You know, like

(18:14):
I just don't under like the logic behind some of
the reasons they keep certain guys and not others is often,
you know, kind of sketched to me. But but again,
none of them is really a factor or doing anything,
so it doesn't matter that much. But I don't know
who The whole sequence was just kind of baffling to me.
There I thought it was because Glaber was out and
they wanted someone who could back up at second base.

(18:36):
But then you think like, well that would probably be Workmen,
because then you could have Lee and Workman play you know,
second base or you know, like workmen and Workmen and
Keith Platoon at third base or something. But and Workmen's
cut the strikeouts down. Like I'm not convinced or anything, like,
you know, probably nobody really should be. But I mean,
the dude has you know, seventy gray raw and can
run and you know, pretty good third baseman never really

(18:58):
was a good shortstop, was like okay there, but so anyway,
here we are. I mean, this is all kind of inconsequential.
But it was just like one of those sequence you know.
It was like all the equations were like floating around,
like why are they doing this?

Speaker 4 (19:12):
Yeah, I workman. I've seen Workmen make great plays at shortstop,
and I've seen him fumble a lot of really simple plays.
Like I think that was he's just not consistent enough there,
but it is. You know, it's telling right when they
go and trade for somebody else and Adam to the
forty man and yeah, like you're like they only l
curate or whatever. They had him on the forty man

(19:32):
for six days and like and maybe you know, they
have plans for these guys and they want to keep
them in work out, Like, I'll see if they can
work on it. But then you know, stuff happens and
you need to make a spot for somebody. Yeah, I
mean Scrambley for a second basement, Like they've got second
basement coming out of their ears. I I the shortstop
issue was with what like true? And I do wonder

(19:54):
how injured trade cruise is.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
Yeah apparently you know, yeah, because they haven't put him
on the sixty yet.

Speaker 4 (20:01):
Yeah. I think there there's a limit to the number
of players you can put on the sixty day and
the minors for some reason. So not that I you know,
I don't know what you would do. I mean there's
the full season endless too, but I don't know.

Speaker 2 (20:13):
Yeah, yeah, that's true. Yeah, but then we'll reinvest the earning.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Sorry, let's trying to play and it's gone. Yeah and
the gun.

Speaker 4 (20:23):
But yeah, Trek Scoople, the sword of Damnicles has fallen.
We knew this is always a potential. When you've got
a picture like this, you're counting on to be, you know,
the best on the planet. But there's enough talent there
to keep going. They just gonna need to Kayder Montero
to continue stepping up the way he has. He's been awesome,

(20:44):
and then somebody else got to do job. Flairty's got
to figure it out. Yeah, I don't know my confidence
level there.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
But yeah, it's tough. But you know, I mean think
back to twenty twenty four. I mean, sometimes this this
kind of thing can rally a team and you can't
like you can't depend on that for like weeks and weeks.
But sometimes there is sort of like an initial reaction
where everybody like gets their crap together and it's sort
of like, all right, you know, I need to play
clean baseball. All these avats need to be good, and

(21:12):
sometimes it can kind of bond the team together. And
that's what they're gonna need to have happen because they're
not you know, they'll have their games where they blow
teams out and the offense has a good day, but
you know, obviously they're not, you know, not a wrecking crew.
You know, they're one of the better offenses in the game.
Strangely enough, even if it doesn't feel like it, you know,
by by w RC plus you know, by run scoring.

(21:33):
I think they're like tenth or something. But you know,
I mean they can win some games with the offense,
and they can win games with Frambur and Kider on
the mound. But yeah, they're gonna have to like squeeze
a few out somewhere and make it work. So there's
you know, no one's gonna feel sorry for you. You know,
I go. I would start in the middle of an
article about how like, oh, the injury trouble isn't that bad.

(21:53):
Before Schoogle's injury, I was like, you know, like this
could be a lot worse. And then yeah, you know,
like you know, I wrote my little McGonagall win the
Player of the Month thing and then looked up and
saw Hayman's tweet and was.

Speaker 3 (22:03):
Like, I like that idea from Colin Tyler. Tyler Anderson
is a free agent. I mean, yeah, that's not a
bad idea either. I'm still in the microstro train.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
I know that I'm probably the one with one.

Speaker 4 (22:15):
Of the few, but it's not there's already a Tyler
Anderson in the system. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (22:19):
Yeah, he's a coach.

Speaker 4 (22:21):
Yeah, yeah, that's not that's not the worst idea I heard.
And then there were the rumors yesterday that that they
may have been bringing in Paul de Young in for
a workout.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
Oh really, So I didn't hear that.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
The rumors these are internet rumors.

Speaker 2 (22:36):
But yeah, why can't we get Todd the painter Pabody
somebody called.

Speaker 4 (22:41):
Taxas Andrew Chafin out there again?

Speaker 2 (22:45):
Yeah, yeah, Andrew did not command the ball real well. Laughter.
And it looks like it's been even worse this spring,
so he might be cooked.

Speaker 1 (22:53):
Yeah, you know, we too.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
I think there's something to be said about that, about
the way injuries are now compared to the ass But again,
it is like, for example, when you look at mipilli,
you know or didn't mclaim for example, who drinp a
six pack of pepsi a day? And so I don't know,
there might be there might be something to that. I
I don't know, because the day like there was a

(23:15):
statos out there about guys who go seven innings or more.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
Anymore, it doesn't happen anymore.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
Yeah, and so the biggest thing that concerns me, and
this is something that Chris and I and you and
I think Brandon, you're on the same boat. Is the
lack of damn death in Toledo and area was gonna
come back and haunt him.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
It was.

Speaker 3 (23:33):
We've been saying that since day one, since last year.
And I remember we had Carlos uh the writer from
Baseball America.

Speaker 5 (23:41):
And.

Speaker 3 (23:43):
I said, I'm kind of worried about the depth in
Triple A, and you know, he's like, you know, they
can always trade for pitching.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
I have paraphrasing that he goes, you know, trained hitters
for pitching. Harris. He hasn't done that yet. So it's
even and it was even more concerning.

Speaker 3 (23:58):
Is you go down to West Michigan, which we'll get
to a little bit, and West Michigan Ran Castile has
not stepped forward. Gabroy is not step forward. Cove Salsado
is your holy hope in Lakeland right now? Really, I mean,
I'm not signing with some and Ben Jacobs, by the way,
who's going through the system right now.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
And look, l it's been struggling a little bit to
start the year, you know, no question.

Speaker 3 (24:22):
But what if you know what, I can see a
world where Ben Jacobs could make it to Eerie by
next month.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
I really believe that. I look what.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
Stops them from getting the Eerie with the next month, honestly.

Speaker 2 (24:37):
Because they have a process and they want their guys
to go through the process and win the process you know,
processes them, then they will be processed up to Erie.
You know, I mean we have we have talked about this.
We talked about it all last year. Like the inability
you know, of this group to find like a dominant
reliever you know. Ever, you know, despite you know, twenty
odd minor league you know, free agent claims and you know,

(24:58):
opportunities to make trade. They just haven't found anything really
since you know, since Tyler Holton. And yeah, I mean
it's a problem and it's you know, it's it's definitely
rearing its its head right now. And I didn't think
it would this quickly. You like the reason when you
have to go out and sign like the Hayesu's and
Anderson and Kenlee Janssen and Kyle Finigan for your bullpen,

(25:19):
I mean that's a bad sign. Like I'm glad they
did it, and I'm glad they took it seriously and
signed a bunch of pitching because they needed it. But
you don't want a bullpen, you know, full of guys
that you can't option, you know, like the Hayes Wu's
fortunately you can, but you know that's it's just not
an optimal situation. And it's all because they don't really
have a whole lot going on in the upper miners
and pitching. And we've been talking about it, you know,

(25:40):
since the beginning of last year, and it's it hasn't
really hasn't really changed. And as far as like the
old you know, the you know, Mickey Lolitch Jenny McLain,
I just think back then, what pitchers were selected for
was durability, because you they you just pitched and if
you broke, that was it and they just cast you aside.
So the guys who made it through were always the
most durable and that's what they thought most about. But

(26:01):
there were probably tons and tons of dudes who might
have thrown you know, ninety six back then with a
nasty yaker and you know, they just burned through them. So,
you know, it's a different thing. I can at least say,
whatever we're doing now doesn't really seem to be working either.
I'm not sure like babying them in the minors has
done a lick of good. The Tigers are you know,
a pretty good argument so far that you know, like

(26:22):
trying to like work these guys in slowly and you know,
give them an extra day arrest and not let the
same team see them in a full start twice. You
know in a series. All that stuff, you know hasn't
done a lick of good. And you know, and it
doesn't feel like they're like pushing guys to throw super
hard either, because we're not seeing like a whole bunch
of triple digit dudes coming up the way. You know,
you do kind of see with like the Yankees and

(26:43):
some other teams. You know, you got Moyses Rodriguez. You know,
Yosber throws fairly hard and those guys are eerie and
maybe one of them figures it out or something. But
you know, it's a there's there's kind of a systemic
problem brewing in the system. And it's frustrating because this
is the best drafting of position players we'll we've ever
seen in our lives and probably we'll ever see again.

(27:03):
They're killing it. They're killing it on that side, and
now we don't have pitching. You know, we're still we're
still waiting for bow Briskey to get back you know,
bow Briskey was drafted like twenty eighteen or something. You know,
Will Dust is still their best reliever and he was
drafted back then too. You know, it's I don't know,
I don't know what's gone wrong with pitching acquisition the
last three or four years, or even five years maybe,

(27:23):
but they just have not found a whole lot. So
it's been melting and melton and job and that's pretty
much it.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
Yeah, even the occasional international arms they will be able
to run into and they could throw triple digits and
are gone.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
I mean yeah, you know, as far as like where's Alice,
where's else? Fano up to Alex? Yeah, I know, I
cannot say his name.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Why Hopefully Alex Fayeto is running a talk show somewhere
he would be get at it.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
And I think last I checked he was in the
Tampa system, wasn't he?

Speaker 2 (27:53):
I think that's right.

Speaker 4 (27:54):
Yeah, he has a pitch in the big leagues. Was
twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Apparently Austin Meadows has like a YouTube golf and fishing
channel now, so I don't know, maybe Alex can go
do that. He's a good talker.

Speaker 4 (28:06):
He's not pitching this year, so he must be hurt again.
Even their former pittures like Matt manning Is went to
a different country and got hurt. It's you can't escape
the Tiger's taint as it were. Yeah, you know, it's
it's really tough. And then I think of teams like
Atlanta right like that's they pulled the Ben Jacobs basically
last year they brought up Diddy or Frontes. He was

(28:28):
barely twenty years old, and they're like, well, we need
somebody to pitch. Yeah, so you know, if worst comes
to worst, maybe the Tigers will just fire through one
of the recent draft picks and let it, let it ride.
You know, we'll pull the old buck farmer. But it
doesn't get me.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
Just give me Carlo's pain.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Trevor Bauer is not good. Look, you can say Trevor
bower on a hundred times.

Speaker 1 (28:46):
He's not good. Sorry, we'll get the stats. He's not good.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
It doesn't matter of his character or not. I mean,
is he a crappy human being, sure, but he's not good.

Speaker 4 (28:54):
It's not it's not worth it for anything. But yeah,
uh so. And I think Charles, you know, when he
kind of mentioned about how other gems would make trades
for pitching right now. But I just it's a weird
time of year. I don't think a lot of teams
are going to be selling right now, even teams that

(29:15):
know they're not going anywhere I could be great.

Speaker 2 (29:18):
They're absolutely going to like hold you over a barrel
and beat the prospects out of you before they give
you even like a you know, a decent you know,
triple a depth starter. It's, uh, this is not the
time of year because everybody still has to get through
a whole long season. Everybody needs pitching. You know. You
can't just like not have pitchers and just phone it in.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
So, I mean, you know the Angels are going to
fall apart. I know the Angels are going to fall apart.
We know that Mike Trout is going to break eventually.
The Angels don't care though they're going to still they
will not trade you break debt Meurs, Jose Soriato.

Speaker 2 (29:50):
Trade us Mike Trout and Jack Carne turned on a
rack for whatever.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Unfortunately, Christo, that's a good Christo, was a very good question.
Here can I get in with down in Houston with
their fire sales? Unfortunately, half their pictures are hurt too.

Speaker 2 (30:02):
Yeah, that's that's why they're bad. Yeah, that's why they're struggling.

Speaker 4 (30:07):
So yeah, yeah, I mean there there are teams that
have like good pitching, like the Marlins are kind of
overflowing with a good pitching prospects right now. But uh,
you've got to give up something to get something, And
I don't know, I don't know if they're itching to
trade any of those guys.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Yeah, I mean there's always talk like you know, Alcintara,
you know, like might be on the block for the
right price or something like that, but it's it's you know,
it's going to cost you, probably Max Clark, you know,
you know. So I just don't I don't. I just
don't see them doing that. It's not Scott Harris's style
to like punt the future at all, to like try
to patch this up when you're probably not going to

(30:44):
be able to either way. You know, you're you're just
gonna have to like work through this somehow. So, you know,
I don't really know what to tell people. I don't
have a great idea either. I I did a little
scouring of like, yeah, who's in free agency and like
which teams are terrible and who we might be able
to trade for. But I don't really see a great,
great set of answers out there, to be honest, are
even any real answers?

Speaker 3 (31:05):
No, the real answer is funny. I see correct here
to Toledo from FSL three days later, gone, yeah.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
Transaction, And I kind of like that pick up. Actually,
you know, I knew he's gonna need work, but he's
still young, like twenty three.

Speaker 4 (31:21):
Well, I mean there's no guarantee that he doesn't get
picked up, right, Like, there's a chance that he'd gets
through waivers and you got time with them.

Speaker 1 (31:28):
But here's yes, and.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
I'm with Sammy here that they should not make a
panic move. But it's you know, at one point, at
some point, there's gonna be some sort of him with
the finger around his red the bread button and do.

Speaker 1 (31:42):
Something with that.

Speaker 3 (31:43):
So but I mean, well, we'll see, but we will
start with Toledo. As Max Clark has, Chris is mentioned
here in his normal kind of state here early in
the season.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
This kind of struggles a little bit, but then mal.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
Jerry and I, just like I said, just wrote an
article about him that I'm gonna be post tomorrow on
our Patreon continues to hit left these m Righty's And
one of the things I was talking to Ashley about
was the best outcomings the fourth outfled there Mike.

Speaker 1 (32:12):
For what he's doing.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
Yeah, and that's okay quite frankly, because they you know
what if you're gonna look for forurfield option, fourth outfield option,
mel Jerry has speed, he has power, and he's able
to play all three positions, and so yeah, it wouldn't
be a bad thing. Adrian and Evagatta welcome Back got

(32:33):
off to a really good starting, kind of slowed down
the rest of the week.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
I watched a lot of Leader.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
This week because I'm sadistic like that, But between Teleda,
I was watching more of the upper minors this week.
I was actually kind of seeing what was going on
Workman the WRC plus Yeah, as you say, if not now,
when when do you do chance?

Speaker 4 (32:52):
I mean, for Workmen's perspective, this was like everybody who
play shortstop got hurt except for McGonagall, uh, and they
went and for somebody else. So yeah, it's it's not
a great tign.

Speaker 2 (33:04):
So you know, we don't really need a short stup either,
Like if they thought Workman was going to mash and
they and they felt confident in that. They then you
think they would probably have brought him up anyway. And
he's just got a lot of convincing to do. I mean,
you know, he got a little look in the major leagues.
He struck out a ton, He struck out a ton
at Triple A last year. This has kind of always

(33:26):
been the mo. He swings and misses a lot. The
strikeouts are down this year and that's nice to see,
but you know, he's always hit for power. Like Gage Workman,
is a talented, impressive, Triple A caliber player because he
has all these secondary tools, but he just he's just
too easily carved up by really good pitching. And you know,
there's probably not iying it's going to change that. As

(33:47):
for Max Clark, he's just struggling against lefties, and you
know it just kind of feels like his you know,
typical next level pattern where you know, take the while
to settle in, take them while to start handling left
handers at that level, and then he starts hitting more
and more and startshitting for power, and then they move
him up. So you know, everybody knows what to kind
of look for when he starts hitting lefties. And you

(34:09):
start seeing some balls fly out of the park, he'll
be a lot closer. But right now, you know, he's
not striking out a ton or like doing anything bad.
He's just kind of just kind of cruising. And yeah,
Ben mal Jerry, like, you know, I mean, what is
Matt Verling doing? You know, the Tigers love Matt Verling,
and you know, Matt Marling is apparently a freaking gem
and peach of a human being. And he's fast, and

(34:31):
he has power if he could ever get to it,
and his swing wasn't built to like only hit high
fastballs for line drives. But I digress. You know, I
don't know if Ben Maljerry can do that job, but
there is going to be a job like that available
at some point. I mean, if I don't know, if
you know, if Vierling doesn't do something this year, I
don't know what is going on, Like what hold he

(34:51):
has over the Tigers. I don't blame him for last year.
He was hurt and you know, nothing nothing you could
really do about that. But it's not like he's ever
had like a really good season either. You know, he
and Wenzel Perez are fairly interchangeable in a lot of ways,
they're just like average hitting if you're you know, on
a good day, against the right matchups outfielders who can
play center, but you don't really want them to. So yeah,

(35:14):
it's it's you know, I I like, I love the story.
It's been great to see Ben Maljerry like doing well
and actually becoming like a player you could see in
the major leagues, because I didn't really have him that way,
you know, at high A even last year. I was
kind of like, there's a chance, you know, that maybe
he turns into some kind of Austin Slavery type lefty masher.
But yeah, yeah, he's been doing well so far, so

(35:35):
that's cool.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
I mean, it's eighteenth round pick from the twenty twenty
one draft. To get even this far as is pretty impressive.

Speaker 2 (35:43):
Maddy Vee started moving different when he got in the
car shields. Yeah, he's got that. He's got those advertising
bucks in his pockets. Now he's a little slow.

Speaker 1 (35:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (35:54):
It's kind of funny which players get to get the
local you know, commercial deals and stuff. It's like, who's agent.
He has an agent out there hunting something down locally.
It's kind of funny.

Speaker 4 (36:03):
I hate all those commercials, so much. I don't know.

Speaker 2 (36:06):
I don't even hate my chemical romance, but I if
I hear that freaking commercial again, I'm gonna lose my mind.

Speaker 4 (36:12):
I did like the the Riley Green that kill the
one because they actually seemed like they were acting there
because it is good Nathan.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
But no, the insurance guy though, that one right there
when he's fist pumps him like that.

Speaker 4 (36:24):
I hate that guy. He's he's like a replicant from
some other planet.

Speaker 1 (36:30):
How's your feel when you're not drafted? Good?

Speaker 4 (36:33):
You know, there's no directing the players at all. It's like, hey,
here's what we want. We want you to be as
stiff as possible. But anyway, but yeah, in the miners,
uh Toledo decent week. There was not a good week
on the farm in general. Uh Ere he had a
good Weekla was fine. You'll there's some bad stuff going

(36:56):
on to the lower levels.

Speaker 2 (36:57):
But but hall Back though, allright, we'll get yeah.

Speaker 4 (37:01):
Yeah, yeah, we did get our first couple uh f
CL games. But yeah, you.

Speaker 1 (37:08):
See, every everybody's on the same page about like.

Speaker 4 (37:13):
He does. He looks like a random uh he's like
a like a I forget all the tribe names and Skyrim,
but one of those elves.

Speaker 3 (37:23):
Reminds me of It reminds me of like, yeah, the Sims.
He's just like a Sims, like a non script descript
Sims character.

Speaker 2 (37:29):
Yeah, just a background background guy.

Speaker 3 (37:32):
Yeah, all right, we'll get the weatherspoon here. Yeah, we'll
get the Lakers. Meanwhile, Erie has picked it up as
the Lake And the reason why I'm watching a lot
of Erie is because I wanted to see what's been
going on with Tyrone Aronzo and how he's been doing.
And Packs John Peck player of the Week playing with
four home runs, four doubles, nine RBIs he heard the

(37:53):
call for shortstop and he's like, listen, listen, motherfuckers, I
want to be up there. Come on, Dom Packs Like, look,
John Pack wants to be up there as quickly as possible.

Speaker 2 (38:03):
I think there's a decent argument that John Pack is
their best option as the backup. I don't think there's
anybody who could you could do better then, And it's
been great to see because he had a you know,
he was so good in camp and then started out
this season and kind of been a slump for you know,
two weeks and then picking it up, picking it up
and then just went off, you know, over the last
like ten games or so. So yep, that's that's a

(38:26):
good sign. And hopefully he'll be at Triple A before
too much longer, you know, another month or so.

Speaker 4 (38:31):
He does have he does have six errors already. It's
been uncharacteristically kind of clunky defensive performance. So the one
thing I pointed out, I put it in the discord,
But I don't know if I put it out anywhere else.
Is its home road splits are absolutely absurd, Oh really so.
So at home, John pack is hitting three eighty eight
four twelve eight seventy eight. He's got all six of
his home runs six doubles. So it's a twelve eighty

(38:54):
nine ops on the road one seventy one for a
three seventy one ops.

Speaker 2 (39:00):
Well, he'll set right in on the Tigers, because that's
exactly how they've been playing.

Speaker 4 (39:03):
He is six for forty one on the road with
nineteen strikeouts.

Speaker 3 (39:07):
What you know, when I was talking to Zach the
broadcaster the new broadcast over an area about John Packett's defense,
he said that it didn't he just seemed like it
was more like a mental thing than anything else.

Speaker 1 (39:20):
He seems like he was moving fine all.

Speaker 4 (39:21):
That, so yeah, I mean I've looked at some of
them and yet it was like, oh, you know, the
ball bounced out of his glove when he was trying
to turn a double play and stuff like that. It
just you know, random.

Speaker 2 (39:31):
So Bizarro Willia Damas, that's pretty good.

Speaker 3 (39:34):
One went there, stay here, Sammy. It took me a
second to realize that's ye. Like they don't have a city,
so they're just the athletics. So it took me a sec.

Speaker 2 (39:42):
Yeah, all time highs.

Speaker 3 (39:47):
Joe Miller again striking out but still walking too much
to you know. And then Lott Lockhart, as Chris mentioned
when I saw him go down to Eri, he's and
back in Ciberias and look and you want to answer
the question, Okay, Sora.

Speaker 1 (40:01):
He's not good. There you go, boom Sae.

Speaker 4 (40:04):
Next, Yeah, it's not you know, it's a knuckleball. You're
your job is to throw the ball over the plate
and hope that they don't hit it hard, and a
lot of times they hit it hard.

Speaker 2 (40:16):
So and there it is. And then yes, the relief
options Tyler Owens, Moyses, Johann Simon hasn't hasn't been very good.
And and you know maybe Yosber, but you know, nobody,
nobody in in it. I'll say that much. Nobody, Uh,
nobody quite ready for prime time either.

Speaker 1 (40:34):
No, not at all.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
And this is the first time in a while where
you're pitching wise just when they go out there, it's
it is a it's a cast.

Speaker 1 (40:42):
It's literally a cast of guys.

Speaker 3 (40:44):
And I got your props some painion for going out
there and being the most consistent pitcher on the Sewel
staff right now.

Speaker 4 (40:51):
Yeah, yeah, I mean you can you could pretty much
chalk chalk him up for five six innings and like
put wonder and run or less in double A. He
just he knows how to pick pitch at the level
and he's pitched well at triple A too. Yeah, it's
it's one of those interesting things where it's like like
bred had said, like I just give give him a chance.
It's like, what's the worst that could happen? Right, Like
he could get bombed, but whatever, he knows how to pitch.

(41:15):
That's that's a start, right or.

Speaker 2 (41:16):
He'll function like Tyler Holton and you know, somehow Chris
Feeder will manage to you know, manage to squeeze the
most out of him, like he always has to do
with guys with like pedestrian stuff. It seems like every.

Speaker 4 (41:27):
Year and then they quick quick note for Andrew Jenkins
had a good week to two, so it was good
for him. Yeah, that helped him to a five and
one week.

Speaker 3 (41:36):
Yeah against the Chesta Feak team that spanked him a
couple of weeks ago.

Speaker 1 (41:40):
So Pinga re brought up in a pinch. I don't
think you have enough philosophy.

Speaker 3 (41:45):
Unfortunately, that's the only problem with I mean we're talking
like if this was ten, sixteen years ago, when you
can bring up a st lefty, yes, and in the
modern game, I don't think left is like.

Speaker 2 (41:54):
To have a I mean Tyler Tyler Holton's made it work,
but only because he has like six pitch, which is
and can command them all. And you know, Carlos Fanny
has good command. But yeah, I mean realistically, I can't
really imagine him being able to do a cool impression.
It would I'd like to see it. I'd love to
see him get a chance just for the hell of it.
But it's like Lockhart, you know, like you could imagine

(42:16):
like under in certain matchups, like they might you know,
have a good outing or two, but it's not good.
It's just not gonna work long term.

Speaker 4 (42:24):
Yeah. Yeah, you do hope you can get you know,
face nine batters. Maybe don't let anybody see you twice.

Speaker 2 (42:29):
Yeah, yeah, exactly, jumping the getaway car after the third.

Speaker 3 (42:34):
Meanwhile, heading out, boy, yeah, oh boy. This is a
so West Michigan made history this week. It was the
first time since the six game series began four years.

Speaker 1 (42:43):
Ago it had been sweating.

Speaker 3 (42:45):
Yeah, and uh they it was the longest loads in
streak they've had since twenty Let's the slides do the
work here, but it's been the relievers.

Speaker 1 (42:53):
This is where it's this is really bad. Twenty four
innings eight ooh, well, it's so bad that I would
so that.

Speaker 4 (43:01):
We don't want to look at it. Yeah, they got
walked off three different times. They gave up two different
five run leads and a three run lead in the
ninth inning on Sunday. It just a brutal week. And
it's not like the starters were lights out. It's a
five to three u from the starters and most of
that was Castillo. But yeah, the relievers, they just could
not get anybody out.

Speaker 2 (43:22):
Yep. And they actually didn't swing the bats that badly.
I mean it seem like they scored five or six
runs every game, but yeah, it just kept just kept
giving it up down the stretch every game.

Speaker 3 (43:32):
Lee's been the probably the most consistent reliever they have,
and they can't throw them out there all the time either.
But good debut for Ben Jacobs. Five inning street hits,
two runs, two walks to seven strikeouts and nineteen whiffs.
That's a big knot of approval over here.

Speaker 1 (43:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (43:46):
Well, and if you watch and you can see the
video of it start on on our YouTube. The runs
he gave up. That was Hunter Dobbins, the catcher playing
left field, and he kind of did a pirouet and
the ball laded like five feet behind him, and it
was like, yeah, I think a big league left fielder
catches that and you're not giving up any runs. But yeah,
part of the part of the process of being in
the minors. But yeah, he looked, he looked he's he

(44:08):
was really working the breaking ball well, which is, you know,
a nice development for him because the fastball has the
good shape to it and it's not super hard. It
was mostly like ninety two ninety four, but the hitters
don't really square it up that much. So yeah, it
was nice to see him carry that up to the
next level.

Speaker 2 (44:26):
Yep, yeah, pretty impressive and yeah, I mean yeah, I
mean if he can just do that and be consistent
with that, yeah, I don't know. The needs much more
than that to go up to eerie. And like you said,
like you know, the changeup is good and the fastball
is missing a ton of bats. You'd love to see
him like you know, ninety four consistently, but there's time

(44:47):
for that. But yeah, I mean, if he starts working
guys over with the breaking ball and has you know,
has good command of those, he should be pretty damn good.
He's looking pretty good. It's almost it's almost like comes
so easy, Ben Jacob, Like there isn't like a whole
lot like I wrote like a preseason you know thing
and was just like, you know, he just needs to
lead leg black and stop spinning off a little bit

(45:08):
and you know, lock his command in and the fastball
shape should improve. And he just did that and that's it,
and it's like, looks pretty good.

Speaker 4 (45:16):
I don't know, And he's shown some some feel for
manipulating the breaking ball, like it's it like he'll throw
like a slider at like eighty three eighty four and
then he'll drop in like that kind of you know,
get me over for steel first strike curve at like
seventy eight to seventy nine, which he doesn't do very often,
but it's one of those. It's it's just something you
you know, a different shape that you can break out

(45:36):
there every now and then. You know you see schoopl
throw two knuckle curves a game recipes, but no, it's
he's been certainly a fun development so far. And yeah,
you touched on El Selt earlier. It's it's been interesting
and odd watching him pitch because it's like it's either
it's like he'll strike guys out like consistently, or it

(45:59):
just like single after single after single, and I'm like, wait,
I don't understand what's going on, if it's a command
thing here or what. But it's like I feel like
it's in there right, like just he's gonna be long.
We just have to wait on well he figures it out.

Speaker 2 (46:13):
And yeah, it just seems like he's feeling for it
a little bit. Most most starts maybe gets in a
groove for an inning or two and then kind of
loses it. But it's not like he's like throwing it
all over the place or anything. It's just maybe the shape,
maybe the fastball shape just isn't as consistent as it
needs to be. But yeah, like you said, I mean,
he's not getting bombed on, but he you know, certain
teams have just like just just kept putting the barrel

(46:35):
on things and singling, doubling around the around the yard.
So she's got things to work on.

Speaker 3 (46:40):
Yeah, here, says Deli Ninjabe's the entire farm system can
vanish and the front office will still want him to
quote unquote develop at West Michigan.

Speaker 1 (46:50):
Well here's a thirty percent key. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (46:53):
Well, I mean, you know, I honestly think that that
if he were to have four starts at West Michigan
like he had in Lakeland, that they probably would move
them up again. Right Like it's it's, uh, if you've shown,
like you said before, if you dominate the level, they
won't hesitate to move you up, and then we'll see
what happens. But yeah, right now, it's like early enough

(47:15):
in the season right now that they they're kind of
just wanting the guys to get comfortable, get their innings
and get up to throw on six innings or whatever,
which is should be coming soon.

Speaker 3 (47:23):
Yeah, yeah, mentioned I think he could be the next
Andrew Sears in a sense because it Sears moved up
pretty quick from last year from West Michigan, so so
that in all reality too, it really depends on also
what's going on with Sears in Ham right now down
in the backfields, and so somebody on Twitter mentioned like,
where's Andrew Sears.

Speaker 1 (47:45):
No one knows.

Speaker 3 (47:45):
I mean we've seen hand throw. We still haven't seen
Sears at all. But uh, look, if Ben Jacobs can
get to Eerie, I think I'll make a prediction. I
think he gets to Eerie by the end of July.
I really mid July. That's how bad.

Speaker 4 (47:59):
It seems completely reasonable to.

Speaker 3 (48:00):
Me, and especially because he'll probably stick around for West
Misian for a while, help him get out of his funk.
I mean, right now, this is this is ugly for
the white Caps. White Caps are not used this as
defending Midwest League champions, and they're also the injuries have
like piled up, and so this is sort of show.
And by the way, Bryce Rainer five for eighteen had
a triple A couple of doubles and it looks like he's.

Speaker 1 (48:22):
Getting back into some sort of uh someone of a
little bit.

Speaker 4 (48:27):
Yeah, he was you know a lot of long at bats.
He's still taking too many strikes and you know, getting
called out on strikes too often. But but yeah, decent. Uh,
he looked better. He looked better, and you just hope
that continues and he keeps performing. Yeah, like you get
that first high a home run out of the way soon.

Speaker 2 (48:47):
Yeah, but yeah, he did. He does look like, you know,
he's swinging the bat better, you know, seeing the ball
a little better too. I don't really know what was
going on in Lakeland. It was just weird. So I
don't know, he looks more like himself. There's you know,
they're swinging this and you know we saw it last
year against breaking stuff and off speed in general. So
you know, he's got things to work on. But you know,

(49:08):
it's what fifty games into his pro career, two so
we're not not getting too worked up about that. And
Jacob's like, I mean I could see him being being
up to eerie by you know, and of June. Just
nothing to do with like who needs him or anything else,
but just because if he's pitching well enough to pitch there,
then he should pitch there. You know, you should move
these guys along, especially a college college arm. You know,

(49:32):
you don't want them to just labor away in the
minor leagues until they get hurt. You know, if n
is usable and he's and he's handling each level, you know,
keep keep moving them, you know, move him steadily up.

Speaker 4 (49:43):
And yeah, I do think that some of this will
filter up, some of like Grinsel, I don't think we'll
be in Lechland a whole lot longer, just by the
way he's performed, and Salcedo will probably move up, like
they There will be guys, and there are enough starters
starter types in the FCL that they can backfill and Lakeland, Uh,
it's just a little bit longer, I think, once some

(50:05):
of these guys start to get healthy hopefully.

Speaker 2 (50:07):
Yeah, but yeah, I mean, you know, you got Jacobs
at West Michigan that should help them. And you've got Silfato,
who as soon as he's like stretched out and has
a couple of good outings, should be up to and yeah,
Grinsol should as well. So you know, they've got some
guys coming. I don't know, you know, they'll probably get
Zach McDonald fairly soon. That might help the outfield. So
striking out a ton but a little better lately, and

(50:29):
you know, hitting the absolute snot on the ball all
over the place. So there's a little bit of a
hope on the horizon at least for the White Caps there.

Speaker 3 (50:36):
Yeah, but there was not a lot of hope for
the White Flying Tigers this week. I watched a couple
I did watch the game of the day when the
meltain started. There was a lot of bad defense, Like
Wark missed the throw completely, you know, the Rocker had
a bad throw.

Speaker 2 (50:50):
The Salas has played really well, you know, like Xalis
has had had a bunch of really nice plays too though,
to kind of balance things out.

Speaker 4 (50:57):
Yeah, they yeah, they they made sixteen errors and the
five losses. It was. It was really ugly and some
of them were like the pitchers that, like kill Lee's
had a complete meltdown in his outing unfortunately, and like
it just one of those things where the walks and
they hit by pitches and the wild pitches and the
error and all that stuff. It's just unravels. But this is,
you know, kind of what you expect in low A

(51:20):
Sometimes he just you haven't seen it a ton from Lakeland.
Over the last couple of years, they've actually tended to
play pretty solid baseball, though this was a little bit
uh yeah, unusual. We'll see hopefully they can clean it
up a little bit, but yeah, like we're seeing glimpses
of It's kind of along those lines of like we
were talking about to the outfielders, like Daser's Pinto was

(51:42):
doing a lot of good things for a nineteen year
old in low A and Solas Is you know, he
was a guy that had he was up some note
when they signed him, and then we just kind of
you know, he wasn't great in the FCL last year
and didn't think much of it. But uh and he's
still a little bit raw, which you would spect, and
and he's had some sort of misplays in the outfield,

(52:03):
but boy, he's got like a seventy great arm, and
he's got a ton of power. And hit a home
run off Seth Fernandez, Yeah, the first home run he's
given up and pro ball, and then Zach McDonald did
it too, but Salas's was an absolute bomb that just
pulled the breaking ball down the line. So I mean,
like that makes you prick your eyes up a little bit,
right like this is this is one of the best
pitching prospects in baseball. He's very young, but uh so

(52:25):
it's solace and for him to go deep, it's like, okay,
all right, we'll keep an eye on you.

Speaker 2 (52:30):
Yeah, I mean, we liked, we'd liked you know, Jose
Bersano already. But you know that like that first game
in the in the Arizona Fall League where he bombed
on like ninety nine from painter Painter, I mean, I
mean when you when you see a guy take on
the top competition around them and beat them, that's always
a good sign. So yeah, yeah, so he's been impressed,
you know, impressive in some respects and yeah, raw and

(52:52):
raw and others. But otherwise that hasn't been It hasn't
been real compelling down there to be on a sort
of the Salsado Yost and McDonald hit a lot of
Jack's like Yost is kind of just like, you know,
just poking the ball around and you know, getting that
base and doing his thing, but nothing nothing really to
write home about yet.

Speaker 4 (53:09):
Yeah, he's feeling his way through it. You know, I
was talking. He he's a guy that he's got a
pretty good idea of the strikes home. But I don't
know if he's gonna be one of those guys who
walks like a ton. I think he's a fairly aggressive hitter.
But he did start taking his walks this week, and
what you know, this is second or third week of
pro ball, and yeah, we'll see what goes, you know,

(53:30):
how it goes for him over the course of the season,
if he learns to start, you know, stinging the ball
and turn On gets some more extra base power. But
you know, he's just kind of another guy in the
system right now to keep an eye on.

Speaker 2 (53:40):
If you guys ever, you know, talk to him or
talk to some of these other guys right when they
get to Lakeland, Like I would love to know, like
what the processes of getting used to the ABS, because
I just I just keep thinking that this is in
people's heads, you know, like it's it's another game that
they're playing while they're playing baseball now, and it's just
I don't know, there's been a lot of weird results
early this season in the major leagues as guys get

(54:00):
used to it. You know, we've seen a lot of
weird games at the triple A level of the last
few years, and I just am curious, like what they
tell them, you know, when they when they step out
on the field in the Florida State League for the
first time about like using challenges and like learning the
zone and whether or not some of that is just
locking guys up for a little while, because that's what
Rainer looked like to me. It looked like he was

(54:21):
just absolutely like did not want to swing at anything
that wasn't an absolute cookie. And I don't know.

Speaker 1 (54:29):
Yeah, there's a.

Speaker 3 (54:31):
There's one thing about this a week that I've learned
about Nkeland. The biggest takeaway from Lakeland is that they
do have some at least some intrigue as far as
bullpen arms go.

Speaker 1 (54:41):
Like there's a there's a couple of arms in there
that you can.

Speaker 3 (54:44):
Go, Okay, maybe you know at least it's to a
certain extent, but yeah, there's it's just gonna be a
matter of when the velocity. I saw some Vlosi too,
It's like at least ninety sev ninety nine from Yeah
Yeah Gomez head hit the Funky Delivery. I like that
delivery a lot. I don't know that, it's just it

(55:06):
was something that just to keep your eye on. And
so there there is some intriguing bullpen arms in Lincoln.
It's just a matter of just getting more reps with it.

Speaker 2 (55:14):
So yeah, some of the harder throwing guys too, like
Thomas Bruce like finally showed up in.

Speaker 1 (55:19):
H and yeah White, Yeah, yeah, I know.

Speaker 3 (55:22):
John Erberg is a big fan of Carlbello. He wants,
he wants, wants the video of Carbello and we haven't
a chance to.

Speaker 4 (55:29):
I mean, he's a big, tall guy. Jumped out of
me yet.

Speaker 2 (55:32):
But yeah, my boy is not not looking good, has
not not popped, and it's just not happening.

Speaker 3 (55:40):
And then after seeing the Los Angos have a really
good exhibition starting against the FSL Philly's, he has come
down to earth hard.

Speaker 4 (55:49):
Yeah it's been a tough start for on hell Days,
but you know whatever, it's the first two games in
the f c L. Yeah, Chris Rodriguez hit a triple
on his first a. B hasn't done a whole lot
else since I'm two games they played on Saturday, they
played today. Stephen Madero has hit the ball hard seemingly
like just based on what's happened, you know, we don't.

(56:09):
We haven't seen any video of it yet, but he's
you know, he's a guy that they liked as a catcher,
you know, offensive catcher a couple of years ago. He
just barely played last year because the injuries. So yeah,
Owen Hall, Ohen Hall got to pitch. You know, all
things being equal, it wasn't awful. You know, you get
two walks in a home run, but that was the

(56:31):
only hit he allowed, and then four strikeouts and two
and two thirds. That's that's a start, right, you want
to see him build on that and eventually come up
to Lakeland again.

Speaker 2 (56:39):
Yeah, we don't know, you know, v Low or anything,
so you know, yeah, you I just want Owen Hall pitching, like,
I don't care what what level and you know whatever,
Like he just needs to pitch and try to get
it back.

Speaker 4 (56:51):
So yeah, and then we want to see, you know,
let's see some of the other guys, right, Like, let's
see Coba throw out, go out there and throw. We'll
see you know, Ryan Hall is on the injured list unfortunately,
but yeah, maybe we'll see Zax Swanson at some point.
So and then the Carlinos Reguez. I just wanted to
point out you know, he's a guy that I think
he made like Fangrafts like sort of also somebody to

(57:13):
know as a lefty with a smooth delivery. But they
used a new rule for him, and I think it
was a great example of why that's good because he
just ran into a bunch of trouble and the first
inning and they had to take him out like after
I think he had two outs. He hit however, many
pitches and so they brought in a reliever and then
they put Rodriguez back out there in the second inning,
and then he pitched really well for the rest of

(57:34):
the game. You know, it was only two and two thirds,
But that just like a good example of why that's
a good rule to have here in the low miners.

Speaker 2 (57:41):
Yeah, agreed, Yeah, because you want them to get their
work in, but you yeah, you don't want them to
get hurt, and you don't want you know, a guy
who's completely lost out there, you know, like going through
like seven eight nine batters. So yeah, it's it's a
developmental league and that's what it's there.

Speaker 3 (57:56):
Yeah, yeah, no, And that's one of the things about
that rule too, is correct me if I'm wrong, But
that was that started in spring treeing this experiment, right, Well.

Speaker 4 (58:07):
They've done it in spring training for I think since
maybe since the COVID year, I don't know, but that
they finally decided, like I said, you know, let's just
apply this to the rookie the you know, DSL and
the f CL, because yeah, these are these are guys
who can't strikes for the most part, Like a lot
of them were like, I don't know what's going and like,
you know, you want them to get their work in

(58:28):
and you want them to be able to, yeah, you know,
not have a They're completely they completely ruined because they
hit their pitch limit in the first thing.

Speaker 2 (58:35):
So yeah, and these games don't matter, so yeah, you
got to do down there.

Speaker 4 (58:40):
I would.

Speaker 2 (58:41):
I am kind of you know, wondering what's up with
Michael Olivetto too, So hopefully we'll see him get out there,
you know, in a couple of weeks. Maybe they're just
working with them behind the plate, trying to get him
will catching aspect first.

Speaker 4 (58:52):
He's on the sixty DAYIL so I don't know, Oh,
I didn't even know. Yeah, like in like the final
week of SPA training. But but between the time we
saw him, we were down there for the final.

Speaker 1 (59:03):
It was less than a week home game and uh.

Speaker 2 (59:07):
Yeah, so then know it was broken all damn it.

Speaker 4 (59:11):
You could still work with him on Uh, well, I
don't know. I don't know if you want to work
with framing or anything like that. Like I'm trying to think,
like hen just put his feet behind him. That's not
really the technique you want to teach yourself.

Speaker 2 (59:22):
But you can go knee down. But yeah, I don't know.
When you have a broken toe, like and you're a
player of any sort, you're you're gonna end up rere
injuring yourself, probably trying to do something you shouldn't do.

Speaker 1 (59:32):
I guess. Sorry, Charles is uh.

Speaker 3 (59:34):
He asked if we have a favorite John Cerling, who
who passed away today. I wasn't, honestly, like, I was
not familiar with his work at all. I know he's
the Yankees announcer. I know him and Tom or still Zuto.

Speaker 1 (59:53):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know.

Speaker 2 (59:55):
I've heard him a million times. You Yankees win, Yankees winning.

Speaker 1 (01:00:00):
I respect that.

Speaker 2 (01:00:00):
I'm not a big. Yeah, I'm not a big I mean,
I don't really know as.

Speaker 4 (01:00:04):
We're not Yeah, we're not. Yeah, he's fans. We we
met Susan Waldman once when we were there at the
at the Tigers, uh up at America, but not him.
He wasn't calling the game. But you know, since he died,
I've seen a couple of calls that I you know,
I remember the one where he called the Stanton home
run and uh at Fenway that was like, you know,

(01:00:24):
barely off the green Monster, like he just completely fooled
by it. But there's one quip going around of him
calling a foul ball that hits him in the.

Speaker 5 (01:00:31):
Head coming back this way and oh oh, but they
also somebody pointed out that he was and I assume
people have seen this.

Speaker 4 (01:00:41):
There's a game from like nineteen eighty four, like an
eighteen inning game where Atlanta had to use a reliever.

Speaker 1 (01:00:49):
He was then the guy who made a home run.

Speaker 4 (01:00:51):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, he was calling that. So like this,
you know, he's been around for a long time. He's
called a bunch of stuff. He just probably you know,
I don't know if he's up there and that, you know,
the pantheon of great announcers all time, but I'm sure
that's you know, generations of Yankees fans have grown up
with them, and so they're probably in their feelings a
little bit, so.

Speaker 2 (01:01:09):
Give yeah, tip the cap to him, and I feel
like it feels like we're kind of taking well, it's
not like he was Ernie Harwell or been Skully, but
you know, yeah, yeah, he seemed like he had an
amazing career and they loved the dude there, and yeah,
seemed like a good guy, never had any problem, just
just didn't just not you know, a guy that really

(01:01:31):
stood out to me that that much. Except for the
fact that it's the Yankees. I don't expect the nineteen eighty.

Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
Four reference to George Well.

Speaker 4 (01:01:40):
We had like a Fountainhead reference in here. Earlier somebody
mentioned that John Golf. I was like, what, that's fountain
Head or the other one.

Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
That is, Yeah, that's Atlas Rugg. Yeah, yeah, can John
Galt picked.

Speaker 3 (01:01:54):
I would call him here says respect respect for not
screaming that I would have been swearing in different.

Speaker 4 (01:02:00):
It's a clip.

Speaker 1 (01:02:07):
Oh man.

Speaker 3 (01:02:08):
So uh but yeah, I mean, we'll be monitoring the
situation as the Tigers will do anything. They'll be on
Sunday Night Baseball on uh, coming up with it's the
oils and the rest of the week. Just kind of
like I said, thet the Red Sox, who were just
the whole Joey Cora thing now is is behind him,
but it's still you know, what ship show.

Speaker 1 (01:02:28):
Really, I was imagining that.

Speaker 2 (01:02:30):
The Craig Bread's thing, because I don't know, every ever
since he's been there, there's been a lot of weird,
weird decisions and a lot of angst over there.

Speaker 4 (01:02:37):
Yeah, I was imagining Cora calling up Hitch and giving
them all the internal scatter reports and all the players.

Speaker 2 (01:02:44):
That does seem like a thing Alex Cora might do.
And it was interesting, you know, Dave Debrowski like offered
him the Phillies job after Rob Thompson went and he
was like, nah, I'm just gonna go home and chill
with the fan. And then the Phillies got weird, and
you know, like you know Don Manningley and then Don
Manningly's son is now like a Systems GM or something.

Speaker 1 (01:03:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:03:04):
Maybe I don't know. Maybe maybe he's a smart guy
and he's good at it. But everything I know about
the Colorado Rocky says this is doomed to fail.

Speaker 4 (01:03:12):
Yeah, and I'm curious about Yeah, if this is the
final death throes of this sort of Phillies run. We'll
see it. Like I will never count gig Nebraski out.

Speaker 2 (01:03:21):
But yeah, they don't have so much to trade, and
they seem to have like a lot of things they need,
Like I assume Trey Turner, you know, we'll get it
together and get going. And some of the other guys
who haven't been hot. I know they're missing, you know,
Juan Duran, but you know they haven't had that many
same situations.

Speaker 4 (01:03:41):
Worst players in baseball and he's got his parents, you know,
stealing his money and it's it's stuff out there.

Speaker 2 (01:03:46):
Yeah, it's uh, you know, it's always thinking it was.
It was kind of a weird, weird team in the
first place, like a very like I mean, it felt
like a Philly team to me. Like, you know, they
were scrappy, they were cocky, they were like tight together,
but they did their own thing and they couldn't be
coached and you know, kind of a thing. And you know,
they managed to get kind of close, but never really
never really made the kind of run you would have

(01:04:07):
thought they were gonna make, especially because you know, Schwarper
turned out to be awesome for them. Harper's held up
well through this whole contract, you know, to this point
at least and.

Speaker 1 (01:04:16):
Yeah, they have an intriguing pharmcism.

Speaker 2 (01:04:20):
Yeah, it's at least interesting.

Speaker 4 (01:04:22):
Yeah, I mean, you know they you know, they brought
up Crawford. They still have Aidan Miller. I think it's
probably their top prospect remaining now that the short stop
third Basement. Uh, well, Painter too, right, they brought up
Painter pitched.

Speaker 2 (01:04:37):
Well, so he's been up a little bit, and I'm
trying to.

Speaker 4 (01:04:41):
Think who else they have, like the you know, they
traded uh their Edward o Ta. We got to see
him and see the rapids last week.

Speaker 2 (01:04:49):
Didn't they trade Nick abel.

Speaker 4 (01:04:50):
To Yeah, that was the same trade that was Duran
and Abele the Tiger saw him earlier in the year
and that was annoying.

Speaker 2 (01:04:57):
Now he's hurt. So Joe Ryan is hurt. Get everybody.
Everybody's hurt.

Speaker 4 (01:05:02):
Oh yeah, you know Joe Ryan and they lost Lopez.
That's true. Like we could feel sorry for ourselves, but
every picture across the planet is dying.

Speaker 2 (01:05:10):
Yeah. I don't have any mercy for the Phillies or anything.
But you know, like I watch Aaron Nola now and
I'm like, it still looks like Aaron Nola, but he's
just been terribad. I don't know what's going on there either.
Kind of strange season for them so far, but there's
been a lot of that going around. Strange season for
us too, and we're like, how are the Tigers like
just just right around five hundred like this? It feels
like it's either been like everything is awful and disaster

(01:05:33):
or you know, they go on these like little runs.
It's been been a very peculiar start to the season
all around.

Speaker 3 (01:05:39):
Yeah, yeah, it could be like I said, it could
be a lot worse. It could be in the Mets.
It could be it could be the Mets.

Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
It could be the Mets and any other there's worst
situations out there.

Speaker 2 (01:05:51):
But uh, you got here, us go hire some people
to advi you advise you on pitching and you know,
get get this sorted out because we got we got
too many bats coming to keep putting up. Figure it out,
big dog. Maybe that's what Kyle Hendricks getting hired is
all about. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:06:05):
I don't even know if we mentioned Kevin McGonagall to day,
but just still Kevin McGonagall.

Speaker 2 (01:06:10):
So yeah, he's like, yeah, he's just inevitable. So I'm
not that much either. You know, it's just like you know,
Kevin mcgonagall's goes for like, you know, two for four
with a run and an RBI and it's just a
whole home night already, you know about it.

Speaker 4 (01:06:25):
He did officially eclipse one hundred and thirty at bats,
which means he's no longer I mean he's he's a rookie,
but he can no longer. He's no longer a prospect.

Speaker 2 (01:06:33):
Yeah, so congrets, congratulations Clark the Tiger's number one prospect.

Speaker 4 (01:06:37):
Yeah, Max Clark, now a sense to our number one prospect.
It take probably for everybody, maybe some people, I don't know.
There may have been some people who like Rainer more, but.

Speaker 2 (01:06:46):
They're going to be quiet for a little while until
he gets hot. And no, we'll hear it.

Speaker 3 (01:06:50):
By the way, we had a comment like, so this
is why you don't look at the comment section. Yeah,
so there was a comment section. I put in discord
as to show it to you afterwards.

Speaker 1 (01:06:58):
Brandon, there's a.

Speaker 3 (01:06:59):
Guy who always his trolls every time, and he said
that mcgogle will be inteedo by the end of the month.

Speaker 1 (01:07:05):
He goes he has no he is batting two fifty
gus who cares. He's a fraud. He's gonna be intoleted
by another month. Kidding me? What what? What? How do you?
What do you expect?

Speaker 3 (01:07:16):
Like it's April, he's got it's got two home runs,
you expect to have twenty home runs?

Speaker 2 (01:07:22):
A weird He's just trying to He's doing exactly what
he's doing. He's annoying you, That's what It's just like.

Speaker 1 (01:07:29):
I'm sitting going like, dude, all right whatever.

Speaker 3 (01:07:32):
But I the reason why I'm acknowledging it is because
it's just one of the most This is after the
heels of him winning Ale Rookie of the Month.

Speaker 2 (01:07:39):
Yeah. Yeah, he's got haters. See that's how that's how
good it's been.

Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
Yeah he's terrible. He's terrible.

Speaker 2 (01:07:44):
Yeah, well, you know Max Clark usually absorbs all the haters.
So it makes sense that Kevin would eventually get a couple.

Speaker 3 (01:07:50):
His dad wants him to make his dad mcgonagall's dad
has one piece of advice used two damn hands.

Speaker 4 (01:07:58):
Yeah, there was you know, I remember there was a
guy who were applicable. Yeah, a couple of months ago.
He had just some random fan from another maybe a
Yankee Fan or some other franchise i'd seen. Was just
watching some like batting cage footage of Kevin McGonagall, Like
this is McGonagall. I'm out, Yeah, this swing's no good.
I was like, oh, I'm bookmarking this. So this just

(01:08:19):
some random dude. It was like he just based on
like there was a mcgonagall's like it was hitting you know,
different pitch types. Uh and and he was like, oh,
he's lunching at the ball. This is not going to work. Yeah, okay, okay.

Speaker 2 (01:08:33):
Man, Yeah, hitting Twitter is a piece of piece of
work out there, for sure. I mean there were a
whole bunch of people like McGonagall sucks. You know, he
bought into all this launch angle stuff. It's like, yeah,
you know, go take a look at you know, go
take a look at attack angle and tilt on stat
cast and tell me who's like in the top fifty.
It's all the best hitters in baseball. My guy, teacher

(01:08:54):
man for the win, maybe not, but but something closer
to that. Cold Keith lean back a little bit, for
the love of God, would yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:09:03):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (01:09:03):
Yeah, you know what Mike was you know, Brandon, let
you mentioned it before we got out of here. When
I was doing that article about the lack of power,
like the numbers are good, but you can lift the
ball more.

Speaker 1 (01:09:13):
It's like, I feel like if you just extra second.

Speaker 2 (01:09:15):
Back, Yeah, can we just give me a little bit
of that, you know, a little bit of hip flexibility
like Riley's got Riley almost has too much. Riley's like Gumby.
But I feel right now, I.

Speaker 3 (01:09:25):
Feel like a g when I said, like the top
three MVP candidate beginning of the year, but everybody thought
it was stupid, you know, like whatever, But yeah, but look.

Speaker 2 (01:09:34):
He's got to play an average defense, Like we've seen
some slop here and there, but hitting damn good plays too.
Did you say, did you.

Speaker 1 (01:09:42):
See the ops u lufties? It's like insanely higher than Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:09:47):
Yeah, I mean he seems to have made like, well
I hope this will last, but he seems to have
made some real positive adjustments to make him a more
well rounded hitter, like the sort of guy that we,
I think all knew that he could be eventually. M
h that's been funny. I was just yeah, it's sorry,
go ahead. No, I was looking at cold Keith Slider.
He's he's got in one hundred percentile and squared up

(01:10:07):
everything up, but not hitting. It's it's all like two
hundred foot line singles.

Speaker 2 (01:10:12):
Yeah, yeah, all like one hundred and four miles an hour.
You know, he's hitting the ball hard like he can't
can't complain too much, but can we catch something out
in front? Crying out loud?

Speaker 3 (01:10:24):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (01:10:24):
Anyway, the bat speeds up. You know he's doing his part,
so no complaints there. It's just that, you know, everybody
was like, why isn't he playing every day? Colt Keith
is on one now, this is it. It's his time,
and it's like, can we just wait until he starts
mashing right handers before we get all over our skis
on this one. We love Colt Keith. The legend of
Colt Beef will always live in our hearts. In the
minor leagues, you know, we saw him hit that ball

(01:10:46):
off the Frickers building and you know we had all
these good times. We know that the power's there, and
I still think he'll get there, but yeah, I mean
he's gotta he's got to make a little bit of
an adjustment to start getting to it and take take
some cracks earlier in the count something.

Speaker 4 (01:11:00):
I'm looking to see what his ISO has got to be.
I haven't about it yet, but it's kind of close
to the bottom.

Speaker 2 (01:11:08):
Meanwhile, the Tigers are still, you know, just about the
most disciplined team in baseball. They have one of the
lowest swinging strike rates. It feels like the Hinch message,
which is taken like three years, has finally like really
started to percolate and soak in there because everybody's everybody's
kind of holding up and maybe maybe a little it'll
all regress a little bit along along the way, but

(01:11:28):
right now they're kind of getting it done. I'm just
not seeing enough run scoring, Like it's just not quite
adding enough to run. So I was it was nice
to see them steal some bases last night. Would like
to see them run a little bit more. And they've
got some guys to do it, including cold Keith, who
is now fast. Yeah, thank you improved with speed. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:11:49):
I was like, oh, he's always been fast, Like no,
he not has never No.

Speaker 4 (01:11:53):
Well no, I mean we talked about him being faster
than you thought before he came up there. There's a
clip of us say, yeah, he's a good athlete.

Speaker 2 (01:12:00):
Yeah, but yeah, I wouldn't have said he was fast.
I would have thought, like, you know, average average speed
average first of you know, to home to first speed
at least, but yeah, pretty quick.

Speaker 3 (01:12:11):
I'll take it all day, all right, folks, Well, thanks
so much for watching things, much for listening to the
Tiger Minor League Report podcast presented by fan Duel and
the odd If you want to go check the odds
of where Trek School is to get this how young
right now they have dropped significantly, So go check that
out on the FANDUL website. And don't forget to check
out our subscribe to newsletter. It's gonna be coming out

(01:12:33):
tomorrow and we're gonna be doing an additional piece on
the outfield situation right now as well. And we're gonna
be doing but now that our schedule is kind of
clear up a little bit, they we're gonna be doing
more of some player breakdowns again.

Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
Bring up that series out again. It's just life.

Speaker 4 (01:12:50):
Yeah, yeah, it's our We're already getting close to sort
of our late May re rank based on the first
month a couple months of the season. It's tough this
year though, because of all the pictures. Who are yeah, like,
what do we do with sears and you know six
has pitched.

Speaker 3 (01:13:05):
Six crosses Chris on those on our board. So we
have a board and we have the metal cross and
I've been updating it all the time.

Speaker 2 (01:13:11):
So I held on like six pitchers, you know, this offseason,
like let's just see what they come out looking like.
Now I'll bet and I'll be yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:13:20):
And by the way, I'll be down in Toledo this weekend.

Speaker 3 (01:13:21):
So I'm head down to Toledo for the first time,
probably Friday and Saturday.

Speaker 1 (01:13:26):
Shout out some games.

Speaker 3 (01:13:27):
No not sorry, no sorry, I can't Saturday, my sister's
having a eighty seam birthday party, so I will be
attending that. But Thursday, maybe Thursday, I'll go to Thursday, Friday,
but for sure I'll be going down at.

Speaker 1 (01:13:38):
Least to a couple of games.

Speaker 3 (01:13:39):
So if anybody was heading down there, let me know
and meet up and talk baseball, and you'll see me
with doing like six hundred things like this, like just
to you know. So I will definitely say hi hi
to Joe Nap for you. So have a good night, folks,
stay clost to everybody. We'll talk to you soon.
