Speaker 1 (00:00):
I don't have to do a gig up this game
right there.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Oh, I'm sorry.

Speaker 3 (00:12):
God, when you are a wondering sound the music starts
to play and you can sit now.

Speaker 4 (00:25):
We back the can from clusing room. It makes you
want to what I'm saying now, one old time.

Speaker 5 (00:54):
No intro is long over to you to get rehauled
a little bit, and why not go.

Speaker 6 (00:58):
With something motown sounding banger?

Speaker 5 (01:02):
Yeah, so I felt the last few days or so,
I've been getting some energy as of late.

Speaker 6 (01:09):
Chris, did you do the new.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Intro by the way, I missed it? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:12):
I put some motown music in there, and I changed
up the clips too, so everybody there's McGonagall in Detroit
and then everybody else has been.

Speaker 6 (01:20):
I put some Callahan in there.

Speaker 5 (01:21):
I put some Pa Checko and Espinol. So finally got
around time to change it. But uh, welcome to another
episode of the Tigers. I don't league report podcast Tigers,
and I'll report as the Tigers take care of the
Yankees five to three in a very satisfying victory. I
don't I don't know what's more satisfying today or sweeping
the White Sox.

Speaker 7 (01:43):
It kind of felt better to sweep the White Sox.
But we just have such weird vibes with the Yankees.
I wonder if they ever feel the way we do
about the Guardians, because it just, I don't know, like
we just seem to treat the Yankees like they're just
some team attack.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
I don't know, it's kind of it doesn't make a
whole lot of sense.

Speaker 7 (01:56):
Garret Cole, I don't think has had much success against
the Tigers in his career, particularly compared to most so guys.

Speaker 6 (02:02):
It looks like a red ass too, just guys a
little pissed.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Oh he does. He's always done that way though.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Well, it's interesting about him though, you know he was
actually think he's one of the good guys. I'm not
positive about that, but like I remember him and Trevor
Bauer never getting along in him kind of hating Trevor
Bauer from way back, which probably doesn't make him unique
in Major League Baseball. But yeah, yeah, no, it's it's
I like that Riley Green got a home run. I

(02:27):
said that was a small measure of revenge for him
breaking his foot against Garrett Cole. And it's spring training
twenty two. You know, Riley broke his foot and then
hit a triple m.

Speaker 6 (02:38):
I forgot about that.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
A good call supposed to do that the other way around.

Speaker 2 (02:41):
Really yeah, but yeah, no, it's I mean, listen, things
are much better when the Tigers are winning and getting
those three wins over you know. I I I tweeted
out that the White Sox were good, and after they
got swept branded you came back and said, eah, they
getting there right, you know, they looked good in those
first few innings and then I mean, there's a scrappy
team now, and it wouldn't shock me if they go

(03:01):
on to win the division. But the Tigers, I think,
do have more talent. I think that pitching staff in
Chicago has has issues.

Speaker 7 (03:08):
Yeah, I mean, they've gotten a lot out of them
and and they've done a pretty good job developing pitching
over there the last couple of years. I can't really
can't really knock them too much, at.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
Least the last year and a half.

Speaker 7 (03:17):
So you know, they're they're in their upstart mode and
you have to respect that much. And they've got some
they've got some talented young players. They're pretty scrappy like
they're they're just it's just like a little more consistent
lineup and you know, maybe better better defensively than the Tigers,
but they don't. They don't really have that that guy
yet and maybe maybe Colson Montgomer will be that guy.

(03:37):
Obviously when we Taka where Kami has kind of been
the man there for you know, the first part of
the season and it's now hurt, so it didn't didn't
hurt a bit to miss out on him, and maybe
that helped us a little bit. But yeah, I mean,
they're not scary. Like the whole al sucks.

Speaker 1 (03:53):
It's straight up crazy this year.

Speaker 7 (03:55):
I don't to say about it, like we've been so
bad and we're like, what we might be four and
a half games out of the wild Card by the
end of the day.

Speaker 6 (04:02):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (04:02):
It's pretty strange.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
And it is, you know, it often is this way
in baseball, right nobody feels bad for anybody else. But
you know, the Tigers had to go a month without
schoobl They're they're catching the White Sox now without Markami,
they're catching the Yankees without Judge. Like, you know, the
Yankees still have one of the best run differentials from
baseball I think, but that the offense feels a lot
more pitchable without judging it.

Speaker 7 (04:21):
Yeah, yeah, and you're right, and it goes around. I mean,
no one can complain about injuries to us this year.

Speaker 6 (04:26):
So yeah, I don't want to hear it.

Speaker 5 (04:27):
I mean, like the Cleveland just lost those Enroo mirrors,
but that was only like their second injury, so I
don't want to.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
Well, it was and in that game also lost h
Martinez and the latter I think.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, sorry, yeah, I know.

Speaker 7 (04:42):
And yeah, and you know, Jose is banged up as
well for quite some time now with the hammitt and
he hasn't been having a very good year. Who knows,
who knows what? You know, what's the future for those guys.
Angel Janow does look pretty pretty good though.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Well you know, it's wildest they I don't know if
you saw that. They oh they Dfai the one outfielder
that was kind of the like he was like a
top twenty five prospect a couple of years ago. And
why am I blanking on his name? International kid? He
was in like double A when he was like nineteen
or twenty and tons of power, tons of walks and
then got got to Triple A and can't hit.

Speaker 7 (05:20):
No for Guardian looks oh, I know you mean, but
I can't think of his name.

Speaker 2 (05:25):
Yeah, I'll look it up.

Speaker 6 (05:26):
Yeah it's not it's not cil, No, it's I was
taking to Khlil Watson.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
No, Watson did get the call up.

Speaker 5 (05:31):
Thought he it is Miami or the Cleveland to Cleveland,
so he came over from Miami, right, Yeah, okay that's
what Elizabeth. Oh, thank you Jake there with the three
point George.

Speaker 7 (05:44):
George, yes, yes, yes, Roger, you do kind of look
like you should, you know, you should have like a
rack of tacos and like be wearing.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
A floral shirt and a beat there with that hat.
Just chilling.

Speaker 5 (05:57):
But I felt like I got this hat shout out
to my Ray who was out on eerie and got
this hat out of promotion, and he thought of me instantly,
and you know, I was like, it's right next to
the State classy shirt right back there, and it kind
of goes together. You know, John class class dude, you know,
and John Public would rock. John would rock something like this.
I know he would for fun at least, yeah he would.

(06:19):
And so anyway, I just felt like, you know, changing
things up a little bit. And the tires of one
four in row was down there yesterday and Friday, and
it was, uh, the Hinch.

Speaker 6 (06:30):
You know, for the record, Hinch does answer questions.

Speaker 5 (06:33):
About about Jamai Jones just like you know, I gave
you audio, Chris, you heard the audio.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Yeah, I don't know what. It's like a consistent criticism
among fans. The thing is, the media is not going
to play their full like ten minute question answer session,
and they're not going to write the whole thing up.
And they you know, they're asking Hinch all the time,
why did you pinch hit Jones? Here? And Hinch that's
pretty much the same answers every time. So like these

(07:03):
these guys have a working relationship with hitche and at
a certain point it becomes like silly to keep asking
him the same thing, like he's you could pester him
if you want, but he's gonna say the same thing
over and over again.

Speaker 7 (07:16):
Yeah, and you're just gonna annoy him and get shorter
answers out of other things, like you know, you know
what the answer is.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
You know, Jami Jones has a track rate of.

Speaker 7 (07:23):
Crushing lefties and they're gonna stick with him and blah
blah blah blah, and they're you know, they're just not
done yet, and he's gonna say that right up till
the minute they DFA him. And you know, we've seen
this kind of thing from a million managers, Like they're
just they're not going to turn on their guy. They're
not going to dog them. They're gonna keep saying they
believe in him. And you know, I mean, I I
do feel like a little bit of a like, hey,

(07:44):
I'm gonna keep playing this guy until Scott gets me
somebody somebody else vibe a little bit from it, but which.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
You know, and I don't, you know, I don't really
think that's the case.

Speaker 7 (07:52):
I mean, I just think like he's on the roster
and that's the job that he's there to do, and
they're going to keep trying to figure it out with them.
You know, they like DAMAI, to my obvious a part
of the clubhouse. They had a lot of success, and
he was one of the guys that kind of saved
them from completely missing the playoffs last year.

Speaker 1 (08:07):
So just is what it is.

Speaker 7 (08:10):
You know, fans always want less time for guys who
are struggling, you know then than teams are willing to
give them. And they don't really have like a big
lefty mashing outfield option in the miners, so you know,
until there's a better option, you know, I mean we
could we can reconfigure some things. They could use torkles
and I mean we've all we've been over this a
million times. Yeah, they could use Toartlesen to hit lefties
and they could play someone else, you know, to keep

(08:31):
Torque on the bench more often to fill.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
That spot, or you know, something like that.

Speaker 7 (08:36):
But you know, we'll see because in a couple of weeks,
you know, I don't know, Max Anderson's starting to heat
up and mc clark is heating up a little bit,
and maybe we'll start to see some change, you know,
coming before too long. But but yeah, they're gonna stick
stick by their guns for now.

Speaker 5 (08:49):
There's gonna be some changes in the rise and the
miners will be there'll be there's some stuff coming out
tomorrow that we can't say it, but it's there's good
things coming on the rising. But uh, look, in talking
to yesterday, he look, he owned up to it. I
mean he was just like, look, I don't like being booed,
and no one likes being bowed. But he took the
questions and he was there and he didn't hide or

(09:10):
shine from it, and he knows. I think it was
Wojo asked Hinch did he was he basically running for
his job on the first base line, and it was
kind of one of those questions. I was just like
I was thinking in the back of my head, going, damn,
you know that was that was I even said it
to Cody because Cody was next to me, and I
was like, it looked like he was running for his job,
Like I mean literally, that was what the kind of

(09:32):
play it was. But it was look, he said, look,
you know, this is what I've been struggling. I know
I'm struggling, and what else am I going to say?
And so for him, and I think like some of
the takeaway from some people in our discord and then
some people online were like, you know what, they blamed
Hinch more than Jones, and I feel like, oh, you know, Jones,

(09:52):
the stand up guy, and that's all true.

Speaker 6 (09:56):
But what starts that whole game with?

Speaker 1 (09:58):
To me?

Speaker 5 (09:59):
What was it game yesterday? Was Dylan Francis is his
middle name Francis, I don't know what if it's.

Speaker 2 (10:04):
His first name is Francis Franks, Dylan.

Speaker 5 (10:06):
Francis, Dylan a Francis Dylan Dingers.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Frankie Dingers. He does look like Frank.

Speaker 7 (10:12):
I think I said this before I knew his first
name was Francis too. He has like Frank vibes. He
looks like a lieutenant at West Point.

Speaker 5 (10:19):
Yeah, he has. He's a I mean, look, he looks
Captain America. Then James mcanda. I rememberverybody talking about maybe
like a Captain America and all that. But look, Frank
Frank Dingler sounds like a sweet name too, like Frank Frank.

Speaker 6 (10:35):
Mister Dingler down, mister Jingler.

Speaker 1 (10:36):
Yeah, and look he I'll call him mister ding from
now on.

Speaker 6 (10:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
It's it's even like he was and hints talked about
that yesterday too, how like how ice cold water he
has in his veins on that single. But that home
run too, but just the entire sequence all because of him.
And then with that gap, the gap or hit to
the left center gap that was It was funny because Stan,

(11:02):
who's a regular listener, was like he was going back,
we're joking around about he's like TORQ, He's like he's
not doing enough, and then all of a sudden, five
for nine, and you know, uh, he's been effective he's
not doing the home runs, but he's getting guys over
and that's all that matters. And there was a lot
of good at bats tonight too, especially from uh And
it was another person I asked about yesterday was Hi Lee,

(11:24):
because I feel like Lee's calmed down quite a bit,
And Hinch mentioned that too, that he doesn't seem so
caught up before. He was kind of caught off guard
a little bit, but it seems like he's getting more
comfortable and more familiar.

Speaker 7 (11:37):
Yeah, we've all seen, you know, how you Lee play defense.
You know, I mean, like a couple of plays that
he just kind of stumbled over or was trying to
you know, I was just going too fast for his
you know, for his body. You know, that just happens
to almost all young players a couple of times, and
it'll probably happen again.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
But you know, for the most part, he's a pretty
solid defender.

Speaker 7 (11:55):
We all know that he tries super hard and he's
just super hungry, you know, gamer type of player came from,
you know, pretty modest circumstances, and you know, wants it
real bad, and you know, it's just a matter that's great,
and it's just a matter of like, you know, not
letting himself get sped up as a result. And yeah,
I mean we kind of mentioned it on the show
that you know, he went back down, could have could

(12:16):
have sulked or felt bad about.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
It and didn't.

Speaker 7 (12:18):
And you know, had two weeks where he was, you know,
pretty much raking for the mud hens, and bam, you know,
the position opens up again and here he is. And
I think he's hitting three fifty since he's back, And
you know, I haven't looked into the details because it's
only you know, a small amount of play appearances, but yeah,
he looks like much more settled.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
Yeah, I was just checking. Yeah, in June, he's said
before tonight three forty six hasn't walked, but five thirty
eighth lugging a couple doubles, a homer, a steel Like, yeah,
I mean, if the Tigers climb back into this, Lee
is making himself look treatable. Certainly. I don't know how
much they believe in him. They're like, that's our second
basement next year, baby, But either way, like he's been

(12:58):
a helpful player.

Speaker 7 (12:59):
So there's there's so few right handed bats on this
roster that you know there may be a role for him,
you know, no matter what, even if it's just kind
of a part time thing. But yeah, I mean, based
on what we've all seen of him in the minor league,
the one thing that stands out that he's not doing
that he usually does do is is, you know.

Speaker 1 (13:14):
Control the strike zone better and not not chase as much.

Speaker 7 (13:16):
And obviously it's harder to do that up at the
big league level, but you know, you would like to
see the walk rates click up, and if they do,
he'll probably start hitting for a little more power too.

Speaker 6 (13:25):
By the way, if anybody wants to contribute to a
super chat, we really appreciate. I don't really ask.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
I try not to ask for money, but if you
guys feel like asking a question or two one of
the comments.

Speaker 6 (13:35):
Comes up, just let us know and we'll be gladly
appreciative of it.

Speaker 5 (13:39):
And the other thing about Dingler too, Charles asked, did
you see this bat in hearing from Dingler? Yes, we
did the first year. No, because he was just he
was swinging everything.

Speaker 2 (13:49):
Go ahead, Chris, we saw this bat from Dinglar in
West Michigan.

Speaker 6 (13:52):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (13:53):
We were so excited about him when we first saw him, like, oh.

Speaker 6 (13:55):
My, well more so than more so than Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
And then yeah, and he got to Eerie and it
was like, oh, this is a real roadblock. But you know,
I think this happens a fair amount with catchers. It's
like there's so much to do to get comfortable with
your defense, to get comfortable with your frameman, your calling games,
your block and everything that goes into that that it
takes sometimes takes years before you're like, Okay, I can

(14:20):
get back to hitting. Now, I'm comfortable where I am defensively,
And you know, I think some of us had kind
of given up on Dingler. It was like, all right,
he's going to be a backup because the defense was
always good enough. And then yeah, he just kind of
exploded when he got up to Toledo. Yeah, like we
always knew this kind of physical ability was there, but
I admit, for for a while I was like, yeah,

(14:40):
it's not going to happen, but it's certainly been a
fun development.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (14:44):
Yeah, I mean he kind of was tracking for you know,
those last that last year year and a half before
he got up, like he was.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Just gonna be Jake Rogers.

Speaker 7 (14:50):
You'd be like, you know, good, good field, general hit
you twenty homers a year maybe, but you know, would
probably bat like too ten and strike out a lot.
And yeah, I mean he's really really flipped the switch
and the thing is too like he's starting to ambush
breaking balls, which was always kind of an issue for him.
He was always a pretty good fastball hitter. But yeah,
he just he just seems really dialed right now. And
you know, I don't know if we can expect him to,

(15:12):
you know, just absolutely mash like this forever, but you know,
it's it's a heck of a season and he's already
he's already got like a seasons, you know, worth of
a heck of a heck of a year, and there's
a long way to go, so it looks good. And
it's also maybe instructive for Tyron Loronzo for the same reasons.
And you know, Lorenso's gonna get rushed faster because he's

(15:33):
an international free agent and he's got to be on
the forty man and that's unfortunate how that plays out sometimes.
But you know, as long as he, you know, Loronzo
just keeps working on his defense and gets his defense
to the right place, he'll get plenty of time to
work on his bat. You know, because everyone knows he's
got the power potential, and you know, that's just something
to keep in mind with how that plays out with
catcher sometimes. I mean that most guys aren't Adley Rutschman,

(15:55):
so yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:56):
And I think, you know, and he's got twice the
swings to work on.

Speaker 6 (16:00):
Yes, Charles stinks for the Tyndawalatry appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (16:04):
True the Frickers building in one thing. Just to kind
of circle back to your how lead point or how
you lead point, you know, Dingler came up and was
really aggressive and he's he's you know, he's never going
to be a super high walk guy, but he's added
three percent to his walk rate and cut three percent
off his strikeout. Right, Like, just the more you get
comfortable in the big leagues, most guys will do something

(16:24):
like that. Not everybody's Kevin McGonagall and comes up. It's like,
I'm just gonna walk whenever I want. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 7 (16:31):
And it is a good point that catchers do wear out,
and you know, it's not a bad thing to see
Dingler like dhing and Rogers still catching a fair amount
of the time because Rogers are still really good back there.
I still kind of think maybe Rogers is like better
at leading pitchers just a little bit.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
It's it's close.

Speaker 7 (16:47):
But Dingler, somebody does so many other things well and
is so good at challenging on top of it, which
is just like this new element they added in that's
you know, probably added like one extra war for him for.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Those of us who care about the war situation.

Speaker 6 (17:00):
That's certainly better than Aley.

Speaker 5 (17:02):
Sanchez was horrible today. I'm sorry, like it was bad,
like he was former, Yeah, yeah he was. He was
behind the plate. He was behind the plate tonight and
Bova's calls weren't even close. It was just like, come on, man,
like that.

Speaker 6 (17:15):
Was even no.

Speaker 5 (17:16):
But you're right, Brandon, he doesn't add another element. But well,
the one thing about Rogers too a lot of people
and then you know midchest about Lorenzo places Rogers as
a backup catcher next year. The answer is they're gonna
if they're gonna stick to the process of him going.
I mean, if Lorenzo was matching to Earie Moore, probably
I would see that.

Speaker 6 (17:35):
But he's not.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
He hasn't even gone Toledo yet, So I think that
it really depends what were saying, you know, by the way,
We have no idea.

Speaker 6 (17:43):
I don't know, there's no they.

Speaker 2 (17:44):
Was talked about him doing rehabbing at some point in June. Yeah,
I mean we're getting toward the end of June now,
so it's gonna have to be this week, I would assume.

Speaker 7 (17:51):
But yeah, because he's been hitting in cages and swinging
the bad obviously for a couple of weeks.

Speaker 1 (17:54):
So yeah, you would think it would it would come
up pretty soon.

Speaker 7 (17:57):
And right yeah, I mean I think Lorenzo probably what
he's like it next year he becomes Tomas Nido and
they come up with another backup catcher. Maybe they just
signed Rogers back for a year for the vibes and
the defense. And then yeah, if you know, if Tyron
presses his case, then he'll get his chances.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
But as far as Chris, no, I think that that Loronzo,
you could keep him an area all year and it's fine,
like just give them time. They don't need to rush him.

Speaker 5 (18:23):
Yeah, and especially too, if you look at the catching
situation right now with Nido and uh Valencia, I think
they're fine up in tweedl right now, and even Aaron
the the backup catcher and Erie right now and it's
only Antonini.

Speaker 6 (18:39):
That guy's doing fine too.

Speaker 5 (18:40):
I mean, you look at the catching across the board
this year is actually not a not a bit the
position of it's not a position of weakness. Actually, I
think it's to me personally, it's a position of somewhat strength.
It's not you know, it's it's gotten better. I thought
there'd be slight regression, but honestly, like even with Don Berseno,
the catch across the system has been pretty solid.

Speaker 6 (19:02):
But we too, thank you for the two dollars. I
appreciate that you've ben You're gonna get a.

Speaker 2 (19:07):
Exquisite and I will thank you. We too did call
me out for sweating. It's true. I got I mowed
the lawn right before this, and then I took a shower.
It's one of those showers where it just did fully take,
like a Seinfeldt like I did take shop, but it
didn't take, and I was like it was like cold
water for a while. But one of those things.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
But anyway, Yeah, your dam your damp brown.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
It's kind of there. I was watching some soccer and
those guys were crazy in Philadelphia.

Speaker 5 (19:34):
I was watching the There's there's Sammy, Canna see it
in the chat.

Speaker 6 (19:39):
But yeah, I've watched a little bit of the World Cup.
I'm not sure if anybody else has watched the World Cup.

Speaker 5 (19:43):
But they they had that World Cup on and the
big screen, uh, the Australia game, I think it was
with USA Australia.

Speaker 6 (19:49):
Was it Friday or one down.

Speaker 5 (19:52):
There yesterday or whatever Australia USA was they headed on
a big screen for a little while.

Speaker 7 (19:57):
I watched a little bit of Argentina just to see Messy,
just because I know he's a legend.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
But I don't really pay that much attention.

Speaker 7 (20:03):
And I've much more enjoyed the World Cup invasion of
the United States because that's glorious.

Speaker 6 (20:10):
All the Korean Mexican jokes have been going on. That's
watching Koreer. Yeah. Those the Scottish ones are my favorite.
One guy saw he goes. I was going to the
airport and then I decided to turner. You know, I'm
not gonna do it.

Speaker 5 (20:23):
I do a really bad Scottish accent, but he's like
a Tyro own and him by Buck and yeah, anyway,
it's just how the Scottish.

Speaker 7 (20:30):
Has been in Texans, just like just pushing giant hunks
of meat into the hands of you know, Asian people,
like Harry says, barbecue.

Speaker 2 (20:39):
People. They love the air conditioning. Yeah, you know, I
don't remember it being sweltering inside buildings when.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
I was in Europe, but yeah, no, it's but they
have that unlock in Asia.

Speaker 2 (20:51):
But yeah, maybe that I you know, I grew up
playing soccer. I've never I'm not like one of those like,
you know, I don't go to Detroit f C or whatever.
And you know, if if the Tigers had an mil team,
I might, you know, go to the games. But I
do love the World Cup and it's it's been great
so far. It's one of those things kind of reminds
me of the All Star Game that one year where
Barry Bonds hit a home run that Tory Tory Hunter

(21:12):
robbed and then later on he hit a real run.
It was like, it's every one of the big stars
except for Ronaldo, is showing up in scoring like they're
doing doing the damn thing. Like Messi has five goals
in two games. Killian Imbape, the French guy who's gonna
break Messi's record. At some points he scored I think
three goals. Early Holland, the six foot five terminator guy,

(21:33):
scored a bunch of goals. It's like they're they're all
doing well. So it's it's a lot of fun.

Speaker 5 (21:38):
Yeah, I mean as far as like, you know, what's
funny to me is when I think about like soccer
growing up. I I'm trying to find this imagery here.
While I find this image, I.

Speaker 6 (21:47):
Think about my I played the only time that I
played if.

Speaker 5 (21:51):
Varsityed freshman year and senior year only because we didn't
have a really good team. I'll explain why we didn't
have a good team in a second. But we just
did the alumni gameuple of years ago, and well, I
was like the sort of going, Man, I.

Speaker 6 (22:04):
Actually ran back and forth doing suicide.

Speaker 5 (22:07):
In this field all the time, and I'm sitting here going,
you know, doing like jogging down like the eighteen.

Speaker 6 (22:12):
I mean, I know I'm a little you know, bigger
than I was then, but man, I was like, how
much money did I do?

Speaker 5 (22:18):
And then I realized like how much more in shape
I was and everything, and but what I what I
in terms of the cross culture to the other aspect
of it all is there was a story where people
were trying to sneak back apparently hidden valley ranch yea,
so ranch And as far as air conditioning goes Chris,
When I was in England a few years ago, the

(22:39):
it was like one of the hottest summers of uh
it was one on hot summers on record in England
and I was staying this whole the hotel and they
didn't have air conditioning, and my dumb ass went up
there and was like, oh, where's They're looking at me,
like what the hell are you talking about? And I
was in this building that this hotel has been around
since like the late eighteen like forget that. How much
history is there's like I been there since like the

(23:00):
eighteen twenties, and it looks at me like You're what
kind of idiotic thing is that to say?

Speaker 6 (23:05):
And I was just like American is just kind of
it away and it just was like, yeah, I'm not
gonna say anything anymore. But for the record, this is
the infamous see here. Oh I'm got I found it
right here.

Speaker 5 (23:20):
Sorry, I gotta, I got, I gotta, I gotta show
this because we're talking soccer and we're gonna move on
after this because we have plenty of other things to
talk about.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
But here it is.

Speaker 5 (23:28):
Oops, Chris, you gotta show you. I'm sure you have
a picture somewhere there.

Speaker 6 (23:33):
I am front row in the polyester jersey. That thing
was hot as hell.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
Yeah, back that we're brutal.

Speaker 2 (23:40):
Yeah so I was.

Speaker 6 (23:41):
Okay, So freshman year I played JAV I'm sorry, JV.
Freshman year. Senior year I.

Speaker 5 (23:48):
Played varsity and well yeah, so anyway, but uh there
I am right there. Yeah, my favorite, My favorite is
this guy right here above me, Mike full apart, purposely
looking away, just a pig. Sure, yeah right there, and yeah,
so there I am right there in the bottom with
my Athletico Madrid shirt underneath.

Speaker 6 (24:07):
I remember that very clearly. Anyway, all right, no story.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
Time, Yeah, no, I was. I was doing travel soccer
my first the only year doing travel soccer. I never
tried out until after eighth grade and I made the team.
And that was the summer that the World Cup was
in the USA the last time and actually had games
at the Silver Dome, and so soccer was huge at
that point. I think Marcello Balboa had like the bicycle
kick at the Silver Dome game and everybody lost their
mind and us sucked real good and that was it.

(24:32):
But yeah, getting back to baseball, yeah, basically one thing
you mentioned, Brandon and I threw this in our discord
last night. It's kind of a trivia thing, but it's
more like a fun fact. Right now, Dingler and mcgonaga
are both top ten and f war, and I looked
to see how many times that's happened, like the Tigers
have finished the year with two players in the top
ten and four. It's only happened twice since nineteen eighty

(24:53):
since I've been alive. I don't know if anybody wants
to guess, or I can just do it.

Speaker 6 (24:57):
Yeah, I'll take a guess. Wait, who finished top.

Speaker 2 (25:00):
Two players in the top ten and f war in
the same year the Tigers two players are more?

Speaker 1 (25:05):
Is it Maggie and Burlander?

Speaker 2 (25:07):
I should say hitters on my Sorry?

Speaker 6 (25:10):
Okay, So Trammel and uh Turtle elevens?

Speaker 2 (25:15):
Trammell was one of them?

Speaker 6 (25:17):
Eighty seven? No, it was eighty four.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
No, Trammel and Parish Nope?

Speaker 6 (25:24):
Wait wait oh wait wait wait wait was it Trammel
m and Tettleton?

Speaker 2 (25:30):
Nope?

Speaker 1 (25:32):
Yeah, I got nothing by wait wait wait no, I'm not.

Speaker 6 (25:34):
Giving up on this.

Speaker 2 (25:35):
Trammel and Fielder yep, nineteen ninety Oh okay, yeah, do
you want Homers will give you a lot of war
back in the immedia at least.

Speaker 5 (25:45):
The reason why I thought Tetleton is because he did
play a lot of different positions, uh in ninety one
ninety two, and he was pretty valuable for that.

Speaker 6 (25:54):
So and he also was like a monster behind the
play with walking too.

Speaker 2 (25:57):
So yeah. Yeah. The other one was two thousands, seven.

Speaker 7 (26:02):
Seven Magni and crand or something that's right.

Speaker 2 (26:07):
Yeah, year and Maglio hit in three sixty with one
hundred and thirty something Barbie.

Speaker 7 (26:12):
I wow, I guess I didn't realize they were that
high up. Yeah, I mean I knew they had really
good years, but yeah, right.

Speaker 2 (26:17):
Now, I mean, you know, elks Or was just kind
of a thing like right around then, Like I didn't
know Fangrafts was up yet.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
What was it even good for?

Speaker 2 (26:24):
Yeah? But anyway, so we can get onto the miners.

Speaker 5 (26:27):
Yeah, let's get on the miners. But before we get
on the miners, by the way, I want to talk
about one stat that stood out to me the tigres
Era last month. You saw that stat was like twenty
five straight starts with like four runs or less. Yeah,
we talked about that for a second, gentlemen, how remarkable
that is as first staff has taken that many injuries

(26:49):
that they are, it's been keeping the tires afloat just.

Speaker 7 (26:53):
And frankly, Framber hasn't really pitched very well, yeah until
the last couple outings. So yeah, it is kind of crazy.
I mean, they they've just made it and they you know,
this group has managed to do that. They've managed to
like hold it together in the starting rotation or when
they need spots starts that we've seen it from Fetter
like again and again and again, and shout out to
cater Montero. We were off kind of pissed that he
got bumped and then he got unbumped because Verlander pulled

(27:16):
his hamstring. So and that's not anything bad against Berlander,
but that's as it should be. Like he and Melton
need to just be in there, leave him be, let
them work, and you know, we'll see what happens with them.
You know, hopefully they can turn this thing around and
go crazy. But if they don't, you know, there'll be
plenty of time to like let Verlander pitch out some
innings in August and September and right off into the sunset,

(27:38):
you know, it's this couldn't have been a priority, so
you know, you know, it couldn't have it couldn't have
been better time of an injury.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
So thank you JV for that.

Speaker 7 (27:46):
And uh yeah, I mean they've still managed to blow
too many saves and I you know, it's still a
very uncomfortable bullpen and you can't judge that by Eira
really so you know. But but lately they've won some
close games and that's that's what I needed to see
the most. You know, they don't haven't added to score six, seven,
eight runs to win a game, and for a long
time that's kind of how it was, and people were
blaming the offense, but really you have to be able

(28:08):
to win those close games, and they weren't doing it.

Speaker 1 (28:10):
I mean, they've blown.

Speaker 7 (28:11):
What sixteen saves this year and especially in May, like
they would have held it together with you know, with
just a couple of guys locking it down at the back,
and they just couldn't do it.

Speaker 6 (28:21):
And it's, by the way, it's incredibly hard to just
a breaking I'm sorry, go ahead, no, you got news
break it. Oh no, there might be a good chance
that we make Steve Bersinio this week Okay, good, Yeah,
so sorry, go ahead.

Speaker 7 (28:36):
That's what I've been kind of betting man, is that, Yeah,
it seems like he should be back by the end
of the month, so hopefully.

Speaker 2 (28:41):
All I was gonna say is is it's you know,
when you dig yourself a hole like this, it's impossible
to dig out of it if you have a bad
bullpend still, like yeah, because because just the gutting losses,
like we're going to come back, Like I thought about
what would have happened if they've blown it tonight, like
just just another bone loss that the game that the
should have won.

Speaker 7 (29:00):
And so and sometimes your both ten ends up looking
or your offense ends up looking worse because you're not
holding leads. And so I think I mentioned this a
couple of times, but you never see the worst guys
in an opponent's bullten because they're you know, they're in
every game. You know, you can't just blow them out.
So yeah, it just it ties the whole room together.
Have a good bullpen. We've seen it from the freaking

(29:21):
Guardians forever. They don't do anything well other than pitch.
But but you know, well the defense too. But you
know when you have that and when you have a
couple of guys that are absolutely locked down in the
last couple of innings.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
It's it's worth way more than war could ever convey.

Speaker 6 (29:33):
I think, yeah, absolutely, and we probably will see Job
in August and depending on uh, you know, and Ken
we look.

Speaker 5 (29:40):
Jameson pitched good on Friday and Saturday. He was he
was solid, but Job coming back depending on the role
they want him in. I mean, the Tigers could put
him in leave a role and if they did it
before and they wouldn't Wims did it again.

Speaker 7 (29:55):
I don't think I'd want to use him as closer,
just because the lack of experience and stuff like you
want to you know, but like if he took over
what Drew Anderson is kind of doing, and he used
Drew Anderson more, you know, and and kind of rotate
him in vest in Jansen in the last two innings,
that would be pretty ideal, I think. And maybe Finnagan
gets it going eventually, and Manuel de Haysus, I think,
still pitches the Tigers doesn't mean to take it into

(30:17):
a game use him right, just maybe not against the
Yankees because he gives up a lot of fly balls
and they're just worried about the long ball or something.
And I'm not sure, but Drew Summers got got like
the A. J. Hinch Test, you know, tonight and did fine.
Just a couple of damn twins hits. But you know,
when he has good stuff and when he's commanding it,

(30:38):
Drew Summers could could be a dude.

Speaker 6 (30:40):
Yeah, he's looks he's looked really good.

Speaker 5 (30:42):
I mean he had a he had a good series
against the White Sox and yeah, it's a matter of
like just to command with him, right, I mean the
command just seems.

Speaker 2 (30:50):
Like a little He's a big old fella with a
funky delivery, and uh, you know, if it's.

Speaker 7 (30:56):
Not needs some big old believers, you know, like what
happened to that era of the big old picture, big
old meaty fella.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
Yeah, don't you don't.

Speaker 5 (31:08):
See guys like ce Sabathia out there anymore? Just like
well before he lost all.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
The weight, just like, yeah, the where are the corn
fed boys.

Speaker 6 (31:16):
We're about? Like joebe Chimberlain comes to mind too.

Speaker 7 (31:20):
I always think some of those big guys have like,
you know, there's a lot more room for the UCL
to slide around in there. You know, it's it's buttery
buttery up in that elbow.

Speaker 5 (31:28):
Yeah, Josely Abouverde. That's another big Papa or big big
the big potato.

Speaker 3 (31:37):
Ye.

Speaker 1 (31:38):
Again, he'll be fine.

Speaker 7 (31:39):
We're glad he got the surgery. Like they tried to
rehab that damn thing for like three years.

Speaker 6 (31:44):
It was about time.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
So hopefully he comes back and he's fine.

Speaker 5 (31:47):
My favorites, my priority comment of the night from forty Gumble.
I was tasked with the lrodious task of explaining who
James Opman was to my wife. Were watching many games
over the last two weeks.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
Oh man, Yeah, and so this guy begat this guy
who began Yeah exactly.

Speaker 6 (32:04):
Yeah. By the way, this does suck u mantilla. That
was that was devastating. Poor guy just got off. It
was with second game back or second inning back or.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
Well, he had played a couple of games in the
in the Complex League, but he was his second inning
back in Lakeland. Yeah. And it was the other knee apparently, right.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
Yeah, yeah, the right knee after the left a cl
last year.

Speaker 7 (32:22):
I mean, that's rough because he's obviously a dude that
depends on speed and mobility, you know, for a lot
of his value, and who knows as you said last week.
I mean, at this point you just want to make
sure he's all right and has like normal quality of
life and then we'll hope, hope for the rest.

Speaker 6 (32:36):
Yeah, that's well as far as jayden Ham goes. I mean,
well we ever see, like I know, you know, any
did a really job explain that you know, this was
time to make him to go to sixty D. I
L And but I haven't seen him in the backfields
at all. Nothing.

Speaker 2 (32:52):
Yeah, I mean I think if he were like if
they were convinced he's done for the year, they put
on the full season, I L. Unless I mean again,
they are kind of perceived droll moves, right, he's been
on the al the whole time. They just put a spot,
you know, had a spot off and up with a
sick ya, and.

Speaker 7 (33:06):
You would think he would need surgery, like you know,
like it would either be surgery or he's he's rehabbing,
and we haven't seen him rehabbing and he hasn't had
surgery as far as we know.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
So yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 7 (33:17):
He's in that Tiger's injury blackout void where we don't
really know what the heck's going on. It's obviously not good,
and it's probably shoulder related, because if it was the elbow,
I mean, they could be doing the thing where they're doing,
you know, they're dancing around the elbow and not you know,
like a PRP and you know, I don't know, but
at this point, it's it seems like whatever intervention is

(33:37):
likely to happen, they should probably just do it.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
But easy for me to say, and we see.

Speaker 2 (33:42):
We see these these injuries kind of cause other injuries, right,
like somewhere along the kinetic chain, right, it's a shoulder
and then you work on that and it's an elbow
or a hip, and yeah, it's just kind of has
that feel to like I've compared it before to Wilmer
Flores but maybe like Franklin Perez right where they're just
like they can't figure out what's going on. He's not
pitching with comfort or it's the velocity's not there, and

(34:05):
I don't know, who knows. Maybe we'll see him next week, but.

Speaker 7 (34:09):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you never know, because that's just tough.
The Tigers do not give out information and it makes
it very very difficult.

Speaker 6 (34:16):
Yeah, yet, Mitchell, at least Mitchell's comment is ethel chef,
a mom, A real person.

Speaker 1 (34:21):
We did does exist.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
We did see him in Legland. He wasn't pitching, but
we saw him.

Speaker 7 (34:25):
Yeah, and you know, we'll get to this, but you know,
Paul Wilson was the one who really disappeared into the
nether regions in Lakeland and suddenly he's emerged and he
was hitting ninety five a little bit, and I was like,
oh at, he's still wild. But you know, at least
he's pitching and seems to have his velocity back and stuff.
So yeah, you just never know what these dudes like.

(34:46):
All of a sudden, they just show up and you're like, oh,
got all about that guy? Thought it was over.

Speaker 2 (34:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (34:51):
By the way, congratulations to Trade Cruise. He made his
the fourth person on was it?

Speaker 5 (34:57):
Yeah, the fourth person, the fifth sorry person on the
twenty twenty MLB draft to make his debut, the old person.

Speaker 6 (35:04):
Sadly that is not on that list and probably never
will be. Where are you, Daniel Cabrera somewhere delivered a pizza?
All right?

Speaker 2 (35:15):
Harsh?

Speaker 6 (35:17):
Was that harsh?

Speaker 2 (35:18):
Yes?

Speaker 7 (35:18):
But no, I mean it's fine, yeah, Daniel. I hope
Daniel Cabrera has moved on from tracking Tiger's farm System News.

Speaker 5 (35:25):
Yeah, I hope he has, and if he hasn't, he
wants to corner me in the corner and threading me.
And that's fine, I'll just sue his ass whatever.

Speaker 6 (35:32):
I don't know me, I'm very I'm very respectful of
these prospects.

Speaker 1 (35:35):
But the way I know we are, the way that
went was was not great.

Speaker 6 (35:39):
Yeah, exactly so anyway.

Speaker 2 (35:42):
But sorry, I just got a text from my brother
that said, when did the Twins get Ryan Kreidler And
how was he hitting almost three hundred for them?

Speaker 1 (35:48):
What the because we traded them Ryan or we traded
him Keith beaureguard.

Speaker 6 (35:54):
That's so funny.

Speaker 5 (35:54):
There was a there was a tweet that said, I'm
so glad that Ryan or Keith Boguard was some like
Ryan Carler has the ops ninety two. He could have
gotten help from one key boardguard away here he did.

Speaker 7 (36:07):
Yeah, yeah, kind of weird. I mean, who knows, though
the Twins sometimes do some weird things.

Speaker 2 (36:12):
You know.

Speaker 7 (36:12):
Also could be Willie Castro and you know, like Cody
Clemens is like a key piece of their beat up
offense over there.

Speaker 1 (36:18):
It's like I never never saw that coming. Yeah, enough time,
you know, right.

Speaker 5 (36:23):
Also was probably fully healthy too for the first time
in his life. I mean always be He was always
beat up here. Always he had some sort of injury,
had a hand hit, a wrist injury, a lot of things.

Speaker 7 (36:32):
And he did like didn't have his fingers fractured, like
three different occasions or something coming through the minor.

Speaker 2 (36:37):
League hit in the hands.

Speaker 6 (36:39):
Yeah yeah, but uh no, Uh so we can move
on Toledo.

Speaker 5 (36:44):
Uh next we as Chris mentioned earlier, the Clarks have
figured out the the Maxist have figured out something.

Speaker 6 (36:51):
So it is uh Jace Young who's been hitting better
as of late.

Speaker 5 (36:54):
Uh melgery Vale, the hut you know, has kind of
fallen back to earth hard and uh I was just
talking to somebody about why he isn't up in Detroit
and they're talking about his h swing, his swing rate,
and you know, in terms of missing things, it's like, Okay,
that makes a lot more sense. I wouldn't get any consideration.
But the but Hens, it's funny. I look the way

(37:19):
you lined it up. Chris at Rochester, next at Worcester, Worchester.

Speaker 2 (37:24):
So at two game road trip or two week road trip.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
Yeah, try the crab cakes.

Speaker 2 (37:30):
They gave up a lot of runs this week, but
they were scoring a bunch of too, so.

Speaker 1 (37:35):
They kind of went back and forth, just beating the
tar out of each other. Yeah, yeah, mm hmm.

Speaker 7 (37:40):
But it's just tough because Toledo just doesn't have the pitching.
So it's like it's it's an awkward watch right now
because and any given night there there may not really
be anybody who's even you know, a real possibility for
the Tigers at all, but you're still watching for Clark
and you know, Anderson Valencia those guys. So it's just
a little bit of a of a funk, funky situation there.

(38:01):
And obviously it's been a funky year. I mean they
losing Gabe and the whole, the whole shebang. So hmm,
this is not a whole lot to love. Like we
can just keep like I just keep waiting for Tyler
Madison or like Tanner Rainey or somebody to emerge as
an option. But the fact that Drew Summers, you know,
finally got up there might be an indication that there's
there's still life at the mud Hens level.

Speaker 2 (38:24):
Yeah, and you know, I I look at this group
and we were gonna discuss today about guys who were
who might might be getting promotions. It's the middle of
the year, right and so you see a lot of
other teams saying Hosons is getting promoted here, and but
I don't see anybody in Toledo that's, you know, necessarily
knocking down the door for promotion. Like you could, you
could swap out Outman for Clark if you want to,

(38:47):
but the outman provides the value and that you can
cut them with no repercussions, right Like, that's that's uh.
And I don't know, I don't think they don't like
to bring these guys up until they're absolutely ready to contribute.
And you know, I get it. If you think Clark
can help you win big league games right now, then
you bring him up. I'm not convinced he's gonna be

(39:08):
much better than Outman right now, which is kind of
wild to say, but you know, he's he's a young kid,
and you don't want to put too much on his plate.
And if you've waited this long, you might as well
wait till like the second week of August or whatever,
and then he can retain his ricky eligibility.

Speaker 7 (39:20):
Yeah, I mean, I think I think he would be
you know, marginally better, you know, just in terms of
like making a lot more contact and like helping them
situationally but defensively. You know, he's maybe a little bit better,
but not but outman's really experienced and gonna be comfortable
out there. You bring up Clark now and you have
to deal with maybe some growing pains and you know,

(39:41):
a mistake or two. You know, Yeah, I just I
just don't see any any big rush like his. His
time is gonna come, and you know, the Tigers are
guaranteed gonna want him up at some point by the
end of the year, so we can get a look
and you know, kind of get comfortable. But yeah, I
mean it's kind of on him, like if if he
wants to make him if he wants to get up
to the show, Like he's got to be kind of
undeniable this year. Next year it'll be more part of

(40:04):
the plan. It will be the plan probably for him
to play center field. So it's it's just in you know,
in his court. He's been hitting for more power this month,
and that's what we need to see, is you know,
and not necessarily like results. I don't I don't, I
don't care how many home runs he hits, but he's
not like hitting a lot of doubles, Like I would
be perfectly comfortable just to see a lot more gap power,
you know, and a lot more hard contact. And you know,

(40:27):
we've that's starting to happen. That's starting to happen for
Anderson a little bit too. But neither one of them is,
you know, tearing the cover off the ball for weeks
at a time yet, And that's that's kind of what
it takes.

Speaker 1 (40:38):
The jump is big, so.

Speaker 7 (40:39):
You better be beating the snot out of Triple A pitchers,
you know, before they're gonna let you, you know, kind
of come into a situation where they're desperately trying to
get back into a playoff race.

Speaker 6 (40:47):
Yeah, I mean, this is I mean, there's only really
one thing to say about it.

Speaker 2 (40:51):
I think he's gonna be just fine.

Speaker 1 (40:54):
I thought it was gonna be be better.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
It's good if there was you know, if Lee weren't
showing signs of life, you could argue that, like you'll
give Anderson a shots. But I think, like we said,
least do some positive things right now, and there's no
reason to shuffle the forty man just to make room
for another guy. Let Anderson put in some time and
put up some numbers.

Speaker 7 (41:15):
Yeah, I mean, And the thing is, Anderson still he's
not doing the things he needs to do.

Speaker 1 (41:19):
And that's what it comes down to.

Speaker 7 (41:20):
I don't care about the results so much, but he
needs to show a lot better process. Like he needs
to stop chasing every damn pitch and grounding out constantly,
because he's still grounding out, you know, over fifty percent
of the time.

Speaker 1 (41:33):
And that's the fear. He doesn't have speed.

Speaker 7 (41:34):
He's an okay defender at second and third base, but
you know, he's got to be able to get to
that power and until his swing decisions get better, you know,
I just think, you know, you could, you could bring
him up and like show him the big leagues and
send him back down kind of the way they did
with how you lee, and maybe that would be good
for him. But it's not a time for, you know,
just an experiment. He's got to be able to come
up and contribute. So yeah, just let's let the guys cook.

(41:57):
We all want to do things, we all want to meddle,
we all want to promote guys. We all feel this
way a lot of the time, and it's you know,
it's probably right to just be a little patient for now.

Speaker 2 (42:05):
Yeah, and yeah, I do worry, and I think we
all anybody who pays attention to the worries that that
that's just part of Anderson's game. And you know, once
he gets the big leagues, the pitchers are gonna learn
like they don't have to throw strikes. You can throw
it half foot out of the box and he's gonna
swing at.

Speaker 1 (42:19):
It, and you know he won't strike out that much,
but he won't do any ding.

Speaker 7 (42:24):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (42:26):
No.

Speaker 5 (42:27):
One thing about Lee tonight was that slider. The first
slider he threw swing miss, but then the second slider
that was a little bit closer, but he still made
an adjustment and were able to poke that the right.
By the way, No, I have to take a poop.
I was getting my gatorade, thank you very much. No,
but uh, it's it's really weird. It's really not weird,

(42:48):
but necessarily still doing that bucket astride. But I don't
think the stride is that prominent as it once was.

Speaker 2 (42:56):
You know what's it's interesting. I was just thinking about
this today because I was, you know, in between working,
I was watching the DSL Tigers one to get in
the DSL Tigers two and Randy Santana is another bucket strider,
and so is Chris Rodriguez. And I just wonder if
that's not drilled out of kids at a super young
age internationally the way it is in the United States,

(43:17):
because you don't really see you know, guys and the miners,
you know, Americans do that. But I've seen it a
bunch of these international kids.

Speaker 7 (43:25):
Yeah, and they keep you know, like Lee's not the
only one who's been doing this. McGonagall has been doing
it too, but with closing their stands off a little
bit more. And for Lee, it seems like that that's
part of the impetus for that is to like keep
him from flying open. But Kevin, you know, it might
just be to give himself a little look against you know,
different pictures, because he's starting to move around in the

(43:45):
box and do extra hitterish things now, and it's very exciting.
He's moving up when he sometimes when he thinks he's
going to see some breaking stuff, he's creeping back when
a guy has a good fastball, Like there's all all
those little details are starting to creep into the mcgonah game.

Speaker 2 (44:01):
Yeah, Yeah, I want to see him yet move back
a half like a half stride because he's anticipating the
inside sinker and it's just you know, crushing it. But yeah, no,
I mean that's he's been so good and we talked
about this before that he's gonna get better. Yeah, and
it's gonna be kind of wild. But anyway, yeah, we'd
hit up. There was an interesting question here that Ted

(44:23):
with Us asked, why is the MLB drafted the middle
of the MLB season. This is a whole big thing.
We don't necessarily need to get into it, but basically
because that's the way it's always been they had. They
used to have a January draft as well.

Speaker 1 (44:37):
They used to do it right after this.

Speaker 7 (44:39):
Yeah, it used to just be like because the college
season ended, College World Series draft and maybe that.

Speaker 1 (44:45):
Just you know, made sense at the time.

Speaker 2 (44:47):
So, but it used to be in mid junie. It
used to be like right now, yeah, or even earlier.

Speaker 1 (44:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (44:53):
So they pushed it back, we assume because yeah, they
wanted to be part of All Star festivities and maybe
teams wanted more time to sort of evaluate guys and
get prepared. I don't know, though, because it's kind of
awkward because you know, there's the draft and then all
of a sudden, it's like, okay, we got three weeks
till the trade deadline and there's there's that whole frenzy.
So it's kind of awkward. I haven't really liked it,

(45:15):
to be honest, but whatever.

Speaker 2 (45:17):
I think, I think you hit on it for the
most part. I think part of the problem is that,
you know, with the baseball season goes so long that
you're into October before the season ends. So if you
were due to the draft after the season, oh, he's
gonna screw up college baseball, Like these college guys are
enrolled in college and suddenly like, oh, I'm good, drafted,
see you. Yeah, so yeah, there are aspects of.

Speaker 1 (45:41):
That, and yeah, you're trying to get rid of that anyway.

Speaker 2 (45:43):
Yeah, well yeah, everybody two hours on that.

Speaker 1 (45:46):
Yeah, well you guys did a pod the other day
on it, right, so yeah, you guys, guys.

Speaker 7 (45:50):
Folks go check that out if you're kind of curious
about reactions to the MLB proposal, which is just a
proposal and isn't isn't going to be implement plemented the
way they want, but kind of sucks, to be honest.

Speaker 6 (46:01):
It's a whole jerk off. I'm sorry, it's the entire thing.
Is this ridiculous?

Speaker 5 (46:05):
Just yeah, if you go to our web, if you
go to a page on YouTube pages on there, I
just post it just for those on Patreon. The reason
why it goes up early is because you get to
before everybody else and there's no ads, whereas YouTube, I
do ads.

Speaker 6 (46:17):
But uh, there, As far as the draft, we'll talk
about the drafts.

Speaker 5 (46:21):
No, we have plenty of draft content on our website
two tigersport dot com. Chris and I have both done
recent articles they want on pitchers who I like and
who I think the Tigers should target. But let's go
with Eerie and the Seawells are four games over five
hundred with the look again Tony Capaceelli great manager, but

(46:42):
what he's doing with that kind of like no like
no pitching, no nothing, I mean not saying not all pitching.
But they've just been back driven. There is uh some
potential call ups soon. I think there's gonna be some
call ups and well, there was a question about call
ups on We'll get to you a little later who
we'd like to see. But with the promotions looming, Jake,

(47:08):
what if Jake asked a question what affiliate in the
Tiger system is the best chance to win a playoff
spot in the second half with some promotion with the
promotions looming, I think, personally, I think Wakeland. I think
it might have a good I think Wakeland saw has
a good chance. I see West Michigan.

Speaker 6 (47:23):
If they can get the pitching. I think West Michigan
could have a completely different and entirely second half, And
and I would say the same for Eerie, but I
can't based off what I know.

Speaker 7 (47:34):
So I mean Erie's gonna get yeah, yeah, Eri, he's
gonna get some pitching because they've got Sears back, and
you know, I mean, you've got some guys like l
Assault maybe could could you know, could move up in
another week or two or month, you know, or Minton
or somebody like that, so they might get a little
bit of help. But but there isn't really like a

(47:56):
big hitting prospect up because no, I don't think any
of us think Rainer is getting moved up until next year.

Speaker 1 (48:01):
You know, they kind of just need to let let
him just cook. He's doing well.

Speaker 7 (48:06):
West Michigan's a pretty good bet, I think because Lakeland
has a lot of pitching and they've got a lot
of prospects doing well and we just don't know when
guys are going to get promoted. But if they get
you know, Salsado and who's hurt, but you know, we
don't know how bad and Witherspoon and Charlie Christensen and
you know whoever else up there.

Speaker 1 (48:22):
You know, they they might be cooking with fire.

Speaker 7 (48:24):
So especially because Rainers kind of rolling now and they're
going to get Patrick Lee and Roostach and some of
those guys are back or almost back, which will help them.

Speaker 2 (48:36):
Yeah, I think that would be my guess too, just
mostly because like if you put it out like the
heart of that office, I mean, maybe not the heart
of it, but like you know, they're gonna be good
young hitters there for the rest of the year, I think,
and they're gonna get some of that good pitching from
Lakeland and I think that'll do. And they're already off
two good start, which helps. I mean it's only three games,

(48:56):
but but yeah, yeah, Eerie, I do wonder. I mean,
you see here at Sears, it was only one team, right,
it's Harrisburg at both outings, but they had nothing for Sears,
So I mean, who knows how long he'll be in Eerie.
I assume they'll give him a good you know, eight
to ten outings or whatever. But if he's pitching like this,
then as well move him up right, like you could

(49:18):
use a Leffy like that in the bullpen.

Speaker 7 (49:20):
Yeah, Detroit, that's an interesting point too, because like Miller
should be back in Erie, you know, probably by the
end of this week or maybe one more rehab start,
and he you know, I mean with his command, like
he hasn't quite got his velocity back yet, but you know,
if he gets some run going with his command, like,
both of those guys become pretty interesting options down the stretch.
And then it kind of brings up like should they

(49:41):
think about like trading like a Tyler Holton or or something,
especially if Summers is doing well and you know, you've
got the Jesus and I don't know quite while they're
using him the way they do, but you know you're
gonna get Brent Herder back too, and we might actually
be kind of flushing in left handed swingman types.

Speaker 5 (49:59):
But yeah, you have to make room from somehow. As
far as case Soro goes, he has pitched better as late.
I mean, we finally, can we can finally say that, Yeah,
he's been the last two or three outings, he's been solid.

Speaker 2 (50:12):
Yeah, and you know, a knuckleballer. It's I mean, they
could move them up to filto whenever they want, right
because he's already twenty eight. And it's not like, oh,
you know, he doesn't know how to attack these hitters.
It's like he just needs the knuckleball, the nuckle. But yeah,
I'm looking. Yeah, last, let's see five out of six
outings one, two, three, four, five, six, six outings like

(50:34):
maybe maybe five twenty three.

Speaker 6 (50:36):
Thank you.

Speaker 5 (50:37):
Wool Room Baseball. By the way, you can check out
Woolard Baseball. Subscribe to the channel. They're putting it together.
A good product over there. They have seven thousand subscribers.
So all right, guy, please subscribe to a channel. For
Christ's sake, come on, we've been around for a long time. Here,
let's let's let's go.

Speaker 6 (50:51):
Let's go here. Come on, we got some we have,
we got up some numbers.

Speaker 2 (50:54):
Let's go. All right, it's a two seventy arra over
his last five starts, but it's still he's still a knuckleballers.
But still, you know, a bunch of walks and a
bunch of hits. He's just getting out of it.

Speaker 1 (51:04):
I thought you're b I thought you're gonna start doing
the you gotta get these numbers up. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (51:11):
Yeah, Matthew McConaughey, Yeah yeah, Wolf on Wall Street. Yeah,
I was gonna say I don't have exactly memorized, but uh.

Speaker 2 (51:20):
But yeah, no, good week from Loronzo.

Speaker 7 (51:23):
I have no idea what you're gonna trade Tyler Holton for.
I'm just saying you're gonna have a lot of lefties.

Speaker 2 (51:28):
Which is YEA could see from Loronzo getting some hits,
taking his walks. Uh. Callahan had a bit of a
down week, but he's still you know, you look at
the total body of work, so one thirty two w's
r C plus over half a season, walking, hitting for power,
playing good defense. I think, yeah, it might be time
for him and for Peck who is U pack is

(51:50):
now hitting two eighty yeah, yeah to eighty five, still
not walking, but hitting two eighty five with power and
playing defense.

Speaker 1 (52:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (52:01):
And they've got those veterans at at you know, Toledo
that they don't really need. These are the guys who
should you know, get to see the get to see
triple A before the end of the year and get
a good long look at it, because either one of
them could be a pretty useful piece for the Tigers
next year. And I'll just say, like, you know who
should trade Tyler Holton is Alavila. You know what Alavilla
could get for a Tyler Holten after Daniel Norris for

(52:23):
Reese Alsen. He just never know what a lefty reliever
might be worth. Teams get desperate and stupid sometimes at
the deadline.

Speaker 5 (52:30):
For that Kevin here, he just needs to knuckleball to
knuckle wise words from mister C.

Speaker 6 (52:34):
Brown.

Speaker 2 (52:36):
So it works, knuckle bowler.

Speaker 7 (52:38):
The Toledo guys that we're talking about just get punted
into oblivion. Major minor league veterans, you know, Gentry and
Stevenson Jukes.

Speaker 5 (52:45):
Might Dukes might have opinion his claw. Jukes might have
a thing in his contract to where if he doesn't
reach a major certain point, he goes. By the way
I said with Checko with his the week, by the way,
he is second on a team with home runs, just
behind Callahan was eleven.

Speaker 1 (53:01):
I gotta give it to him, not expected.

Speaker 7 (53:04):
I felt like he was going to be stuck there
for like two or three years, and you know, everyone
would just kind of forget he existed. But nope, nope,
he's putting it together pretty decently, still striking out a
ton obviously, like he's not he's not breaking out into
stardom for something or high end prospect status, but he's
holding his own and with that much power, it just
it's always going to remain a little bit intriguing because

(53:26):
he can also play defense and he's not just like
a like a you know, first baseman who can't run
and just hit ball hard.

Speaker 2 (53:33):
The first game of that series he went over one
with four walks, which is funny. And I think he
only hit one home run. He had one or two. Yo.
The home run he hit was just one of those
like absolute rocket, like, oh my god, perfect crush job.
So yeah, I mean he's improved, and we talked about before,
but like they're just running absolutely wild. Great Graham had

(53:56):
seven steels, Stevenson had six. They're just they're just take
runs if you're gonna go to them.

Speaker 7 (54:01):
And they're both well over thirty are they They're both
over thirty steals by quite a bit.

Speaker 1 (54:05):
Now, Yeah, it's kind of crazy.

Speaker 5 (54:08):
Yeah, And also yeah, but Checko is batt in two
sixty eight. So the he's kind of in terms of
even home runs two wise, he's had seven home runs
six sorry, six this month.

Speaker 2 (54:20):
I got Pacheco hitting two twenty one. You're just talking
about this month.

Speaker 6 (54:26):
Yeah, for this month, he's hitting both this month.

Speaker 2 (54:28):
Okay, I'm sorry, Oh no, no, no, you know what
you're right. Wait wait, I think Helen HiT's batt in
two six seats to sixty.

Speaker 6 (54:33):
That's what I'm sorry. I'm sorry, I got my guys.
Uh look good, yeah, sorry about that.

Speaker 2 (54:38):
No, it's so good. It's yeah, I mean it's two
twenty one, but it's a thirteen percent walk right and
two twenty five by show, so he's it's he's above
one hundred WRG plus And this is going with like,
I should check to see what his stats are since
May first, because April was just absolutely brutal for him.

Speaker 6 (54:55):
I can check. Yeah, you know what, it's real quick,
all right, I do that, Chris. But yeah, as far
as like everybody else, the one thing about this, what
does it look like?

Speaker 2 (55:06):
Chris? So since May first? He said two sixty three
three six, so fourteen point six percent walk right twenty
nine point three percent strikeout right, it's a one thirty
five WRG plus first the last six weeks I.

Speaker 6 (55:18):
Was there, Hey, I was close. We I said two.
I didn't to sixty it, so I was It's good. No,
but look eerie.

Speaker 5 (55:26):
This week is in the revenge tour against the Rumbo
Ponies who won the championship last year, and against a
team like well, I don't feel.

Speaker 6 (55:34):
Bad for the Mets.

Speaker 5 (55:34):
I don't honestly, because the Mets, uh now, the pitching
prospects haven't done anything with it.

Speaker 6 (55:38):
So yeah, I spent all that money and what have
you done?

Speaker 1 (55:44):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (55:44):
Yeah, I mean it's a bad team. I mean it's
just a it's an ugly team to watch. I have
watched a few Mets games and it I don't know,
like everything.

Speaker 1 (55:52):
Just feels bad over there. The vibe vibes are terrible
on top of everything else.

Speaker 5 (55:57):
Uh, Lance or West Michigan, by the way, look at
as Chris mentioned earlier, also really would start Pryce Rayners
doing his thing, but pitching Ryan Christile with a strong
starts getting looks like he's getting better.

Speaker 6 (56:10):
And the mint Minton by the way, it's just uh.

Speaker 5 (56:15):
His time at West Michigan has been pretty productive, and
I think also he deserves a promotion too. I think
he just based off some numbers he's been doing. It
seems like he's been there. He's been I think one
of the.

Speaker 6 (56:24):
I think he's the longest tenured white Cap.

Speaker 2 (56:27):
Started right now, right, Chris, I would think so yeah,
because you know, he was from the same draft class
as Sears. So it's twenty twenty three, so yeah, but yeah,
if somebody from their move, he deserves to move. And
you see that that I thought Pennington, Garret Pennington might
be the player of the week because I think for

(56:47):
twenty three with three homers, the triple, two doubles, twelve RBIs,
he's like, yeah, player of the week. Now he lost
it to Brandon Compton who hit four home runs, but
still Pennington. You know, he's twenty five. It's the first baseman.
Get busy living, get busy die, and get him up
to a higher level and yeah, see if he can actually,

(57:08):
because to be a first base prospect you have to
hit like crazy. But he's done that at every level
they've had him so far, so just keep moving him up.

Speaker 7 (57:16):
Yeah, give him a try, you know, I mean, you
know they Chris Myers was was the last example who
was like, you know, pretty good minor league hitter, but
never was like crazily doing enough damage to make it
to the show. And now he's kind of just in
Orgs territory, so yeah, you might as well try to
try the next guy up, and yeah, you know what,
you know what's interesting. I just wonder about this, like,

(57:38):
do you think there's any chance that they want to
promote Jordan Yost to the White Cats, because I know
he's not doing a lot of damage, but he's not
striking out, you know, he's making a ton of contacts.

Speaker 1 (57:48):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (57:48):
The the Yost rainer arrangement is just kind of interesting
to think about because I would like Bryce Rander to
just kind of stay there and like, you know, have
some have.

Speaker 1 (57:57):
Plenty of time to figure it out.

Speaker 7 (57:59):
But at the same time, he is he is going
to be twenty one in a few weeks, and I
know he's had like very limited time.

Speaker 1 (58:03):
But if he gets hot, maybe you do move him up.
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (58:07):
Well, I was gonna ask you the reason why he is,
like do you think it's because like similar to Magoagla,
Remember the Mocoagles are getting bored in Lakeland and just
started walking because no one was challenging them.

Speaker 7 (58:16):
Yeah, yeah, I don't think Rainers there, but yeah, but
but you know, but but he could be.

Speaker 2 (58:22):
Yeah. It strikes me as the sort of move you
make maybe once the complex League is over, so you
can you bump up Yosts to Hi a bump up Rainer,
So like two three weeks or whatever.

Speaker 1 (58:35):
Yeah, Santos comes up to Lakeland.

Speaker 2 (58:38):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, something like that. You know, it would
maybe head Mantilla stayed healthy, they could have done it,
you know, but yeah, yeah, I guess you know, it
also depends. You got to think of the draft. They're
they're probably gonna take another ye almost certainly gonna take
another you know, prep infielder, but probably you take at
least one more college in fielder too, so they you know,
Jack Goodman I think played for Lakeland last year. So

(58:58):
there's always you know, waste bump these guys up.

Speaker 7 (59:00):
And as this goes on, the Org is gonna have
a lot of a lot of shortstops playing you know, corner, outfield,
center field, everywhere.

Speaker 1 (59:06):
They get used to it. That's the that's the play.

Speaker 2 (59:09):
And I think, yeah, and uh, I don't want to
make a special note of Ricardo Hurtado here because for
the second year in a row, he had an absolutely
brutal May for absolutely, you know, for like no apparent reason,
and then has been good the entire other time. And
it's it's just kind of it's a weird thing. I'm
trying to bring up his his stats. But last year

(59:30):
he had like a seven ninety ops or better in
every month except for May, and it was like two
hundred and May.

Speaker 1 (59:34):
Yeah, Clark is that way.

Speaker 7 (59:36):
Yeah, Max Clark kind of has like you know, there's
May Max Clark, and then there's late June July Max
Clark where he finally puts it together.

Speaker 2 (59:44):
The splits real quick.

Speaker 7 (59:45):
We're not even talking about Ben Jacobs, but you know,
Ben Jacobs, you know, could could use to tighten things
up again a little bit more.

Speaker 1 (59:51):
But that's about it.

Speaker 7 (59:52):
Like, still just looks very good, very very good pitching
prospect with three above bridge pitches that flash plus and yeah,
I just realized doing the job.

Speaker 5 (01:00:04):
If Christensen goes up there to West Michigan, he's gonna
be one of those guys that will dominate that level because,
as I think we've talked about this before, lefties like
with that kind of stuff in Midwest League dominate, like
just put up insane numbers.

Speaker 2 (01:00:19):
Right, And my talk about Christianson is not he's not lefty. Yeah, yeah,
he does have a funky angle.

Speaker 7 (01:00:26):
I was looking yesterday on my huge extension too, and
a good change up, Like all those things are going
to be really hard for for high A hitters to
deal with.

Speaker 2 (01:00:34):
I mean, I still look at him as probably a
future reliever down the road because big leaguers are so
good that they like, I think a lot of his
success right now is it's just something that you don't
see very often.

Speaker 7 (01:00:46):
Yeah, he has the he's a look guy who you
don't really want this, you know guys to see and
then get another look at his sinker because even even
down there we've seen like the second time through the
order sometimes they start getting on the sinker better.

Speaker 2 (01:00:57):
But yeah, I mean, like with the amount of strikes
he throws and the pitches he had, we're skipping ahead here.
But yeah, like I could see him being very solid
two three inning reliever for you. But but yeah, he
does seem like if somebody's gonna to bump up to
West Michigan, it seems like he would be a pretty
obvious candidate at this point. I did want to. I

(01:01:17):
did find the stats on Hurtado just to stop so.
In April he had an eight sixteen ops. In June
it's nine sixty four, and May it was five eighty. That's,
you know, not as bad as last year, though. I
want to look at last year real quick. Last April
eight thirty seven, June eight seventy nine, July eight ninety seven,
August seven to seventy two, May seventy five.

Speaker 1 (01:01:38):
Oh really, I was like, how old is Hurtado? Is
he twenty two?

Speaker 2 (01:01:42):
I think he might be twenty three. Now, let's see
he is twenty three years old in one month today,
Okay tomorrow.

Speaker 6 (01:01:48):
By the way, Chris, I like, I like, I want
to refer to as Chuck c for now on.

Speaker 2 (01:01:53):
Chuck chucksy chucksy chucksy now. And yeah, so just did
a you know, average week for He puts the ball
in play a lot. Sometimes it goes for hit, sometimes
it doesn't. He's finding gaps, that'spenall keeps hitting. He's got
a seventeen game on bay Streak I think, which was
like he had a sixteen game on bay Streak. That
was broken up because he pinch hit in one game

(01:02:15):
and didn't get on and then he has seventeen after that,
so he's just getting on base and an absurd Right,
He's a guy that you could see moving up, like
it it kind of depends on his defense, right, how
much do they want him down and Lakeland just working
on his defense? But I don't know, because his production
certain warn't a promotion.

Speaker 7 (01:02:36):
Yeah, there's some interesting ones because like it's the same
with Witherspoon. Like if Witherspoon is like in command of
his stuff, he can pinch a double a, so it's
like you could kind of move him wherever you want to,
But he's not in command of his stuff, you know, consistently.

Speaker 1 (01:02:49):
So I don't know quote what.

Speaker 7 (01:02:51):
You do about that, because they don't really seem to
be like messing with his mechanics very much or like
I don't know, maybe they just want to keep an
eye on him and you know, keep working with him
down there.

Speaker 2 (01:03:01):
Yeah, it's it's it will see like how they view
about Like we joked about, the Tigers obviously didn't think
that Hertado was a good enough catcher to catch school.
They said, benet Lee down there just to do that,
so they value the defensive aspects of catching quite a bit.
But like I said, you know, I mean, he he

(01:03:21):
his bat seems too good for low A, so we'll
see what they decide. You know, bo Anconey was kind
of laboring through the first six seven weeks of the
season and it has just gone absolutely bonkers in the
last two three weeks. So I don't i'd like, you know,
he's a first basement again, first base prospects not really
a thing unless you're hitting three sixty with thirty home runs.

(01:03:43):
But based on the way he's hitting, I could see
him possibly moving up.

Speaker 7 (01:03:46):
Yeah, and he's hitting a hard opposite field quite a
bit too, Like yeah, it's all all fields power and
starting to like work at the outside of the zone
and turn on pitches both.

Speaker 2 (01:03:56):
So yeah, he's just a beastly physical specimen, like he
really is. Granted, I think the defense needs a lot
of work at both first basically on the outfield, but you.

Speaker 7 (01:04:06):
Know, he's not that slow, so like maybe he could
play some corner outfield and maybe he has.

Speaker 1 (01:04:12):
It's just it's no I mean, like for real, you know, yeah,
down the road, I see what you're saying.

Speaker 7 (01:04:16):
Yeah, yeah, it's an interesting group with like Dooma Snow
and Pinto and Sallas, like all these guys like kind
of have flaws and not like monstrous tools, but they're all.

Speaker 1 (01:04:27):
Kind of good. And obviously Pinto's just a baby.

Speaker 7 (01:04:30):
He's still only nineteen, so it's kind of an interesting
group of outfielders.

Speaker 2 (01:04:35):
Yeah, that's a good way to just describe it, because yeah,
there's you'll see these guys, well, they'll all have weeks
where like it's clicking, and then they'll have a week
where it's like who. But they're all very very intriguing
and as we said before, like this is the most
fun team to watch just because there's all sorts of
different guys who are doing like they're only like two
or three guys where are like I'm not really paying

(01:04:55):
attention to them at all, like Sergio Tappia types. But yeah,
and then you have the pitching Witherspoon we talked about
on another show, But I think I put his start up.
But as far as I can tell, this is the
first time he really broke out his change up MM
and it worked for him. It was he got I
think four whiffs on seven swings. I think you gave

(01:05:17):
him a couple of hits on it too, but like whatever.

Speaker 1 (01:05:19):
Man, you know, just from not getting it down enough.

Speaker 2 (01:05:22):
Yeah, yeah, And I don't know if it's because Dunedin
had a bunch of lefties or it was like, Okay,
it's time to break this out, but we're comfortable with
it in games. But I think that's a key aspect
of what he needs to do going for it, because
it's nice to have three breaking balls and a sinker
and a four seamer, but you need a legit weapon
against lefties, or at least something to make them think that.
You know, he can't just backfoot slider to him all.

Speaker 7 (01:05:42):
Day and from his arm sloted, you know, he makes
sense as a guy who should have a good change
up to play off that sinker.

Speaker 1 (01:05:48):
So yeah, yeah, that was That was a nice outing
to see for sure.

Speaker 7 (01:05:51):
Just can we get like a couple in a row,
that's all.

Speaker 1 (01:05:53):
That's what I need to see, bro.

Speaker 2 (01:05:55):
And said, it's just nice to get to whiska back.
He was bent there and showing same stuff he had before,
you know, mid nineties fastball, a couple of interesting cutters.
So yeah, good get the nice mix of pitchers down
there and they seemingly have enough arms down there now
to promote somebody.

Speaker 6 (01:06:12):
Yeah. I think they might get something at some point
too from scl.

Speaker 7 (01:06:17):
Yeah, these guys can just stay healthy. Yeah, you know,
you might get Owen Hall or Paul Wilson or both
up there. And then obviously Koba looks like he's about
ready ready to move up, so at least get to
look at it.

Speaker 1 (01:06:29):
And Ryan Hall showed up.

Speaker 6 (01:06:30):
Yeah, Ryan Hall, Yeah, there we go. I was gonna
say that was the first time he's pitched professionally correct.

Speaker 2 (01:06:36):
Yeah, yeah, And I think I put it up on
Twitter not on YouTube because it was only it was
a rough, rough outing, But like, who cares. It's it's
a complex league. He's out there pitching in a game.
You saw the flashes like it was his fastball I
think touched ninety five. Looked like it had some pretty
good shape to it when he was throwing it near
the zone. Curve ball has like he's like eighty two

(01:06:58):
but with really good depth. It just you know, it's
it's you spent it like that. Sometimes you leave it
up and he got hit hard and they even flashed
to change up, so it's like, all right, that's all
I want to see. I want to see some sibilants
of three pitches and we'll work on the command and
get you some more innings.

Speaker 1 (01:07:13):
Yeah, just keep keep building some reps and yeah, work
your way.

Speaker 2 (01:07:16):
In and as you said, you know, follow some one
was back out there and it's ninety five ninety six.
A couple of times, he's got two different breaking balls
that are distinct and look decent. I don't he's going
to change up too, but I don't know if you
used it in that outing. It was only two innings,
but yeah, I think we will see him in Lakeland
before too long.

Speaker 7 (01:07:33):
Yeah, it was nice to see that velocity because considering
how much he's been injured, like you just didn't know
what you're gonna get, you know, is this guy going
to re emerge as like a touch and field ninety
mile power lefty or like what's going to happen?

Speaker 1 (01:07:43):
So, yeah, it was nice to see the gas.

Speaker 7 (01:07:46):
Command of the breaking balls was a little sketch, but
he's he's barely pitched and.

Speaker 1 (01:07:49):
That's that's just fine.

Speaker 6 (01:07:50):
Just keep pitching.

Speaker 1 (01:07:51):
Stay out there, buddy.

Speaker 5 (01:07:52):
By the way, if you you are interested in watching
any of the American Summer League all games, there are
on YouTube, so it's a stream for that, which would
be cool if there was a Complex league stream.

Speaker 6 (01:08:03):
But we'll take this two as well.

Speaker 2 (01:08:05):
Today was it was an ugly one. It was I
think fourteen to five. I think Tigers or Stigers as
ugly as the Yankees FCL team won like twenty three
to something against the Tigers. But that baseball gets real
nasty down there. It's like seven walks at an inning
and three pass balls and two bocks. It's like a
but yeah, some some guys standing out early in the

(01:08:26):
international ed Warnald twossonon. He's a shortstop in name. When
I look at him, I'm like, that's the future third basement.
I think, uh, he's just kind of thicker, but he's
hitting hitting for power, yeah, striking out a decent amount,
but whatever. And we talked about Randy Santanna. Randy's just
tooled up the hit. The hit tool needs to come along.

(01:08:46):
But I don't know. It's a it's a fun group
down there and it's nice to go. And you know
Alexis Marinez. I watched him today. He's a lefty running
the fastball up to ninety four. He's got a breaking
wall changed up like, I don't know if there anything there.
I think he's already twenty.

Speaker 1 (01:09:01):
But have we seen Boulevard at all?

Speaker 2 (01:09:04):
Yeah, he's been Yeah, I have him under I gave
all these guys short names, right man, bam something like that.
Oh yeah, yeah, yeah he has not I don't think
he has a home run yet. He doesn't look like
like a standout just yet. But uh, but he's been
catching and you know I have. I haven't been dialed

(01:09:25):
into these games because like you said that, they're so they're.

Speaker 1 (01:09:27):
So brutal to watch the game today for tough as well.

Speaker 2 (01:09:32):
But yeah, so he's got you in the hill a
little bit.

Speaker 6 (01:09:35):
So No, but I do. Uh.

Speaker 5 (01:09:39):
Our moment is end tonight. We don't normally have, like
I like the John Stewart style moment of them. But
I wanted to share this because it's one of the
funniest things. I was chuckling earlier because I.

Speaker 6 (01:09:48):
Had to, so I went to go get my gatorade
and then, uh, Champagne Athletics on Twitter posted this clip.

Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
And I it's funnier than dirt.

Speaker 6 (01:09:59):
Can No, it's the camp was pretty funny. Like the
way the guys did tonight was the way they did.
That was funny, but Todd Jones with a moment. Todd
Jones provided a lot of moments his end. But this
right here, I takes the cap for me.

Speaker 2 (01:10:16):
It happened.

Speaker 6 (01:10:17):
You can think.

Speaker 2 (01:10:26):
The camera matchup that happened.

Speaker 1 (01:10:29):
You can think Chess, it happened. You knew that was
gonna happen.

Speaker 2 (01:10:42):
That is a monster.

Speaker 7 (01:10:48):
In fact, we keep a street like yeah, everybody else
like suddenly just like disappears out of the camera.

Speaker 6 (01:10:58):
Time with you. Oh then, I I'm sorry. That was like,
I know, the podcast on a note like that, he said.

Speaker 7 (01:11:04):
And of course it came from dirt Cam though, because
all all good things do.

Speaker 6 (01:11:08):
We're gonna play. Fine, we'll play one more time. Because
somebody said, what what did he say? And maybe was
it clear what he said? I thought it was pretty
clear what he said.

Speaker 1 (01:11:16):
Maybe that person should go search and ulfar.

Speaker 6 (01:11:18):
Yeah, maybe I'll do it one more time. I love
my audience. So yeah, you can.

Speaker 2 (01:11:25):
Chas Chess Gisela.

Speaker 6 (01:11:34):
No more.

Speaker 5 (01:11:35):
Yeah, you can find on Twitter, Champion app Champion Athletics.
I'm sure they're posted on Instagram too. Yeah, that dirt
camp was out of control. I think they're just trying
to give.

Speaker 6 (01:11:49):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (01:11:49):
I think so too. I mean the chances just.

Speaker 6 (01:11:53):
Now I was.

Speaker 5 (01:11:53):
Official, official, official that we are going to be part
of the Just Baseball Network. Let's get take another week
the movie R S Speeds. So that being said, though
we are.

Speaker 6 (01:12:03):
Getting up for draft covers.

Speaker 5 (01:12:04):
Is our draft shows gonna be on a Saturday, which
I didn't realize the draft until Chris and I were
getting together. The drafts amount of Saturday is at one
o'clock and it's network.

Speaker 2 (01:12:17):
And I have you have a Yeah, can you hear us?

Speaker 6 (01:12:22):
Right?

Speaker 2 (01:12:23):
I can hear you? Can you hear us? Yeah?

Speaker 6 (01:12:25):
I can't hear you guys?

Speaker 2 (01:12:26):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (01:12:26):
Sorry?

Speaker 2 (01:12:27):
Yeah, Like, yeah, the Tigers don't have a third rounder
this year, but I think that the first day of
the draft covers the first four rounds. Oh really. The
one thing I was gonna say was just to go
back to the Todd Jones thing. By middle school had
different hallways were named after like famous I don't know,
like Frontier trails. So there was like the Oregon Trails trail,

(01:12:50):
there was the Chisholm Trail. Yeah, we're in seventh graders
are like anyway, yes, and there are gonna be promotions tomorrow.
If you listen closely, you've hited that a bunch of them,
you'll see them. A lot of these guys are getting
called up tomorrow, so good.

Speaker 6 (01:13:04):
Yeah, some of these Yeah, it could be anybody though,
I mean we're not I'll tell you who. But uh yeah, yeah,
we treated we's but.

Speaker 1 (01:13:13):
Uh people we will be happy to see called up though, Yes,
exactly so.

Speaker 5 (01:13:17):
But yeah, as far as uh, as far as that goes,
the Tigers are in a position tomorrow they will be
playing at Uh.

Speaker 6 (01:13:28):
I wasn't so early today, by the.

Speaker 2 (01:13:29):
Way, because of the fireworks Detroit fireworks. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:13:33):
Oh that's right, that's right, that's right.

Speaker 1 (01:13:35):
We thought the same thing that it's weird having these
games end when it's not dark yet. It's I don't
like it. Yeah, even even at six forty a lot
of them are.

Speaker 7 (01:13:42):
It's not dark yet, but you know, it's obviously late
June and this is how it goes. But still I
kind of missed the seven tenth starts. I know probably
everybody hates this, but I'm kind of a night all.

Speaker 6 (01:13:51):
Yeah, my tomorrow against Carlos Hoddan and then Wednesday's game
is Tark School against Ryan Weathers. So depending on what
day yeah, which means also at the same time, by Wednesday,
Bob Gilsa, you know, we'll report that no one's interested
in Terreroic school anymore.

Speaker 7 (01:14:12):
Like or Jeff, even Jeff Passon is getting into this, like, Oh,
the Tigers are operating as though they're not trading card
What does that mean? How else are they supposed to operate?
They they literally they have what are you talking about?

Speaker 6 (01:14:23):
I want to make a bulletin board.

Speaker 5 (01:14:25):
I'm gonna make a bulletin board and that white space
is right there, and I'm gonna put how many times
like the schoolbl.

Speaker 7 (01:14:29):
I know, the mentions like go write an article you bumps, Yeah, exactly,
do something else.

Speaker 6 (01:14:36):
So somebody asks if baseball is your only gigon.

Speaker 1 (01:14:39):
No, no, this is part time. It doesn't feel like
that though, But that's just obsession talking.

Speaker 6 (01:14:44):
Yeah, that's the same here.

Speaker 5 (01:14:46):
But yeah, draft show coming up on Jane on January, well,
July eleventh, and details will coming, so we'll have a
variety of aggress and what have you and h Brandon
say around for a joke that I have to make
to you that I saw earlier, Chris, Yeah, it's pretty fun.

Speaker 1 (01:15:02):
In front of the poor viewers.

Speaker 6 (01:15:04):
I know, but they're like, if the only we talked
about after this.

Speaker 1 (01:15:07):
Showreon, Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 6 (01:15:10):
Yeah t m l R after dark.

Speaker 5 (01:15:13):
But thanks so much for watching things so much listening.
Keep a closs to everybody, and we will talk to
you next week. Uh, some some folks might see this
some Thursday. Yes, Chris was right for not starting start
coming on the school trade.

Speaker 7 (01:15:30):
I'll shout it all out because none of us made
a big deal out of it, and we could have
noped everyone with rage bait for the past eight months
and we're not.

Speaker 1 (01:15:36):
We're just not doing that.

Speaker 6 (01:15:37):
We're not sell man, We're not the man.

Speaker 1 (01:15:40):
No, that's right.

Speaker 7 (01:15:41):
We're not gonna get out to the rage industrial complex.

Speaker 6 (01:15:44):
Yeah exactly.

Speaker 5 (01:15:44):
I'm not gonna come up with some trade you know,
like five hundred different trade proposals, not yet either way,
because it's not you who knows what's gonna happen.

Speaker 7 (01:15:51):
But tell me that Chris is gonna sign Art school
to a long term.

Speaker 6 (01:15:58):
I have a good night, everybody, the time.
