Speaker 1 (00:00):
I don't have to do a game this game, rightcap.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Oh, I'm sorry that I'm hi.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Everybody. Welcome to another episode of That's Tired My Report podcast.
As the Pistons right now are playing forty two to
thirty eight, you're five minutes off the little except quarter
I'm a hook seal, Chris Brown and Brand should be
longer shortly as the Tires head to Flushing to take
on the Mets, starting in a three game series starting tomorrow,
before coming home to play the Blue Jays this weekend.
(01:11):
It'll be either a Friday, hopefully Saturday as well, but
it'll be nice to get down to the ballpark. Although
the weather again in Michigan, the frost advisory, it just
kind of gets old and I feel like an old
person complained about it. But quite frankly, it's at that
point where I'm just kind of forward because right now
it should be seventy degrees at least sixty seventy sixty
(01:33):
five reliefs.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
But it is what it is.
Speaker 1 (01:35):
So we don't want the old men complain about the weather.
Isn't that Ray, Chris, I want to complain about the weather.
You want to play about the weather, Brand, you want
to say, do you want to complain.
Speaker 4 (01:43):
About the weather, Brandon, I mean just a little bit.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
I was gonna say, I know, it's gonna hurt your golf.
It's hurting your golf. Chance to play golf, right, No,
we'll play.
Speaker 4 (01:51):
What it's like, you know, forty five to fifty if
we have to. It's not that big of a factor.
But yeah, I mean, like it's all nice out. You're like, oh,
hell yeah, we're gonna play some golf today. Oh it's
like fifty and windy. What the fuck? It's may bitch,
just let's go.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
It's exactly, it's made. That's what I'm saying. It's still yeah,
and look Matt's running his first I'm running my first, man,
That's what I'm saying. Like it's yeah, so it shouldn't
be the case. Man, Look I want my first off
at this point.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
I accidentally slept with my window open the other night
and woke up freezing. It was like, whoops, that's funny.
Speaker 4 (02:25):
I kind of did the same thing and I like
tweaked my neck. So yeah, I've been like working working
the neck out all day. Like that's great. Yeah, I'm
getting old. Woke up and had injured myself, I'll sleeping
that great time.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Yeah at that point your life at this so but yeah,
I planned to get to including gauge theater workman as
it was interesting with within a week of what has
happened to him, the mayor to call up Derek Schooble
having surgery that might put him back in coming back
(02:56):
and sooner than later. And then there was this whole
thing about all the Tigers might be able to him,
the chances with that and all that, so fun fun
stories about that. And then it's been now almost two
weeks since West which he last won a game.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
So yeah, it's been more than two weeks.
Speaker 4 (03:12):
For Nee Rivera is not getting any better sleep than
we are with the windows often.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
Yeah, yeah, he got ejected. You could see that it's
getting to him. He got ejected at a game where
they completely missed a strike and then give up a
two run single right after it.
Speaker 4 (03:25):
Yeah, and it's not like they're not hitting at all
or anything. I mean, they're not swinging the bats great,
that's for sure, but they just keep they just keep
blowing games. I don't know. It just cannot get it
done in the late innings at.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
All, which is one of Red's gauge or tainer.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Well, I think we've talked about this before. His father's
name is wid Yeah, and his brother's name is also
something unusual. After looking up real quick.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
Yeah, I'm just curiosity, like, isn't he from like a
big Mormon family in Arizona. Something I'll have like biblical
names or something. I think so, yeah, but anyway, I
don't know. They went They went full baseball, so good
for them.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Yeah. No, and look that it was a race story.
Yesterday I had a home run, one more than Jase
Young as Chris texted me that, yes, no, look, look
here's the thing, like we're not being harsh on purpose,
but we did so. I did a dad dive today
because Robert James was asking, Yeah, I've been waiting for
a long time for workmen to get called up. That
(04:27):
that is true, like my my love for workmen. I
don't say love, but I've I've admired of him. You
know what I mean by that. It's just like, look,
the tools were there, but the co consistency wasn't. But
then there was a there was a there was a
there's a stat that stood out to me today that
I was looking at and I was looking up for
Robert James because I wanted to see he was asking
(04:48):
what was different why I cut out strickouts rate so much?
And I looked into it, which kind of led me
down to a rabbit. I had a forty five minute
call with you know what I'm gonna You know, I'm
a humble rat I had. I had a nice thirty
five forty five minute humble call to Dan Jerkerson. We
talked about the stats. So it was really cool. That
kind of made my because I was I was at
work and all of a sudden, somebody came in my
(05:10):
room to ask me a question, and then I saw
my phone.
Speaker 3 (05:12):
I'm like, did everybody get out of her? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Yeah, exactly what happened, and so what get on it?
So the stat I was looking into is versus breaking
balls in triple A last year, so he was at
one thirty seven. I'm an op opio or on base
percentage of two of four, strik outweight of fifty and
two barrels of the X velocity just over eighty six,
(05:38):
hard hit contact thirty percent this year three twenty four,
three thirty three strike out with you know whatever, it's
it's still forty seven percent three barrels. And and this
is only with only seen one hundred and fifty pitches,
so he's seen less pitches, and the hard hit contact
up to fifty percent, and his exublosity the four point
(06:00):
one on breaking balls. But the fastballs was something insane,
Like was it like, yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:05):
He's hitting like five thirty five against fastballs this year
or something. Yeah, I mean, and he's always he's always
hit fastballs.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
I wrote about this last night too. There's an article
if I'm bless you boys, if people want want some
of that. But yeah, it's there's some sign of like
breaking ball improvement, so that's good. And he's always hit
right handed pitching. Well, so if you cut out lefties
and he just has to hit you know, right handed pitching,
he's still probably going to strike out, you know, twenty
eight to thirty two percent of the time, but he
(06:31):
might do a fair amount of damage, you know, along
the way, and that's kind of what you're hoping for.
We were also and I had this had just never
occurred to me, but what if gauge workmen became like
the Parker metals that we had always hoped Parker Metals
would be because you know, I mean, Gauge Workman doesn't
play in the outfield a lot. I think he's got
like fifty games total, but he's played in all three positions.
He's you know, he's got above average speed. I wouldn't
(06:54):
mind just just messing about and seeing what he can
do in the outfield a little bit, because obviously that's
you know, kind of where they need to help. You know,
he's coming up for Carpenter. You know, he's an infielder,
but he's got the you know, he's got the chops
to do a lot of different things. And his big
problem defensively is this that you know that occasional just
boneheaded play at third base, you know, where he just
(07:14):
like rushes it or or shortstop where he just overthrows
something or you know, just clangs the ball trying to
do too much. You know, he might be all right
out there. So I'm curious. You know, I'm reserving a
whole lot of skepticism because you know, we all like
Gage Workman when he was like twenty two and thought
like if he just quit switch hitting, maybe he'll figure
it out. Last year kind of like put a damper
on that. But he has he has cut his strikeouts down,
(07:36):
he should the last you know, three seasons. So maybe
maybe if he's just super patient and just like willing
to take some called strike threes and try to force
guys to throw pitches in the zone, he might have
some success for a while.
Speaker 1 (07:50):
I think the biggest thing, the biggest takeaway I have
with Workman has been especially down Toledo, is that it's
not been a spray chart. It's been like kind of
all over the place too. It's been not like it
was something like not all exactly pull heavy or anything too.
The other status stood out to was Ben Ben mal
Jerry is also hidden offspring or offspring. Well, you gotta
(08:14):
keep up separating, you got keep them separated. Ausby very
well too. So there's been like I said, there's a
couple of things in the data, but the rack the
breaking balls for mel Jerry was kind of a struggle
a little bit. So that's where and the same thing.
Speaker 5 (08:27):
And there was something that I was talking I was
talking to Dan about was heel they look at that stuff,
look at velocity past ninety five and everything, and so
that that's something they consider.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
So with Clark right now, he's only hit one thirty
five against velocity. That's and also at the same time,
it was another thing that I found out too, which
was interesting that even at the edge gelosities on grounders,
they look at that and they don't frown upon it.
So like if they hit like one hundred and three
miles and I was like, well, that's still really good
even if it's not regards.
Speaker 4 (09:00):
So that's fair. Yeah, So that not you know, necessarily
what you want, but I mean, I guess if you're
hitting the ball hard, you know, in general, that's a
good sign. Although you know, we have Justice, big Bie
and several other examples of guys who hit a lot
of hard ground balls. But it's just, you know, it's
just hard to make that work at the major league
level unless you're fast and play great defense and you know,
do a bunch of other things.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
Yeah, and especially in this series. Let's let's talk of
the Kansas City Series that was the Worlds were in
each game, there was a game all three games Tigers,
even with mad with the home run pitched well exceptable person.
But I'm saying as far as like competitive baseball, when
the Tigers did play competitive, but just the pitching, the injuries,
(09:42):
were all caught up. But the defense, the defense has
been amplified, getting louder and louder over and over. You
see them near the bottom of every statistical category and
even the I can't say that we're that it's on
Baseball reference. The records should beat but it starts with
the pee the.
Speaker 3 (09:59):
Right beggar.
Speaker 1 (10:00):
Yeah, thank you, yah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
So the Tigers should be right now. I believe they are.
Should be to see that, pull it up you real quick.
They are should be twenty one and twenty So.
Speaker 4 (10:11):
We've scored more runs than Cleveland has and we've given
up the same amount. If I recall, I might have
checked that before the end of last night's game. But
you know, one of the reasons people think Cleveland is clutch,
and you know why clutch gets thrown around or oh
they play small ball and they do these little things.
Do it now? They just have a really good bullpen, guys,
That's all it is. The Tigers come back in a
(10:32):
lot of games too, and then the bullpen gives up
another two runs. You know, a bullpen makes up for
a lot. And yeah, we saw that the other night.
You know, they gave up one. Drew Anderson gave up
the lead yesterday. Unfortunately Workman was there to recapture said lead.
You know, I mean, they didn't give up many runs overall.
You know, Drew Anderson having a bad outing is not
(10:53):
the end of the world. But yeah, I mean, you
just don't really trust anybody. It was nice to see
Kenley like look good and have his command last night.
Maybe the six days off kind of helped out the
grain problem he's been dealing with since you know, I
guess mid April. If he can command you know, the
cutter and doesn't get too cute, you know, trying to
like throw sinkers and sliders to everybody when there's not
(11:14):
when he doesn't really need to, he probably will be fine.
But yeah, you know, Kyle Finnigan's been wild. Who else
you really have to lean on? So yeah, Holton's been okay,
you know here and there, but still not not Tyler
Holton of two years ago. Meanwhile, the will Vest, you know,
the will Best news doesn't seem to be getting better.
It seems to be trending more towards the other thing.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
So we'll say at shot right, Yeah, yeah, yeah, I
mean Herder has been pretty pretty good, pretty reliable, but
it is like, you know, you go to a series
with two bullpen chaos starts because you have to, and
it's it's it's tough to win, and you see it,
like we've talked about all the time, like for that
strategy to work, everybody has to do their job and
(11:55):
when one person doesn't, it screws everything up. They were
able to come back on Sunday, so that was nice
to get one win out of that. It was a tough,
tough week. It just kind of feels like, uh, you're
like been driving down the freeway and see a bug
on your car, just holding it, just like what the
Tigers are. You're going seventy five down.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
The freeway and playing, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (12:19):
Just holding on for dear life until they get to
a stop somewhere. But yeah, I don't like the offense
is still I mean they got shut out one of
those games, didn't.
Speaker 1 (12:28):
They may Yeah, yeah was a Saturday, Saturday.
Speaker 3 (12:34):
I don't know, you know, yesterday they picked up an
ad on run yesterday and you know, Riley Green is
he's playing really well, so that helps. We've seen some
other guys kind of come back down to earth cold.
Keith doesn't doing much of anything. Anymore. Yeah, I don't know,
it's it's been a tough stretch, but it is nice
to have these guys come up and give you unexpected contributions.
(12:56):
And yeah, you know, like I was joking about it,
but I'm serious, Like Workman has already done more than
than Young has. I mean, Young had the walkoff hit
in the Little League game a couple of years ago.
That was that was pretty awesome. But you know, you
need a guy like that to hit for power because
he doesn't offer a whole lot else. And if Workman
offers that power plus speed, our you know, potential, defense,
(13:20):
utility and arm strength all the other stuff, So you
should get some chances to play while Carpenter is on
the IL.
Speaker 4 (13:26):
Yep, I have to agree. Yeah they didn't get shut out,
but yeah they scored one on one on Saturday, three
on Friday. I mean, it doesn't been that good. You
kind of hope that. What's happening though, is like they
sort of have digested, like, Okay, all these guys are hurt.
This is the way it is. Nobody's coming to help us.
They still have enough talent on the team to you know,
(13:46):
play like five hundred dish ball and they should, so
you know, hopefully they dig down and just realize like, yeah, no,
you know, we're the guys now, you know, it's us,
Like most of this team has been here for a
couple of years now, even the guys who are new,
like you know, they all play together in the miners.
They know each other. This is this is the group.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
You know.
Speaker 4 (14:05):
There's no superstar veteran that's going to come in here
and bail them out. So yeah, I mean they've just
got to play like dogs through May and and you know,
be a lot cleaner defensively and not give not give
outs and runs away, and if they can pull it
together enough to do that, they might be fine. And
then it's just a question of like do they get
enough help back for it to matter? You know, that's
(14:25):
the other question, because we don't you know, the Tigers
don't give out a whole lot of information, that's for sure,
And it's really hard to gauge like how hurt Like
Casey Mice is casing m is going to be back
in a week, it's casing Mice out for you know,
another month from now, Like I have you know, I
have literally no idea. You couldn't tell you. They reported
Zach McKinstry is having like inflammation of the abdominal and hip,
(14:47):
and it turns out like he tore the muscle off
his bone a little bit. Like that's a bit different.
Just yeah, like I guess there was probably inflammation, but
that wasn't the root cause. Kids, So yeah, I don't know.
It's just hard to know, you know, like what they've
got to offer and when they're gonna get guys back.
We know Verlander's not gonna be back till June, and
we know Melton's not gonna be back till the end
(15:07):
of the month. And they've got you know, like four
or five series where before they can really expect anybody
of substance coming back to help them.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
Yeah, right now they've got like five six guys getting
regular playing time who have a WRC plus under eighty.
Speaker 4 (15:24):
Yeah. Yeah, so its idea. Riley's been good. You know,
you figure Kevin, Kevin will perk back up. You know,
he's they're pitching him different and trying all these different things.
He'll adjust back. But yeah, at the moment, there's not
a whole lot going on. When Stingler and Keith cooled
off from their their hot stretch in April. It's you know,
there's not a lot happening. Carpenter was pretty pretty bad
(15:45):
this year so far. I mean, I think his w
r C plus is like one oh five. So it's
not like he's completely absent, because he will hit you
a home run every once in a while. But you know,
he and Torkelsen haven't really been big factors except for
like little bursts here and there. So yeah, they're gonna
have to to get real scrappy.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Somehow, especially when was it I think Tiger's Tropewell tweeted
this out. Sixty five players across all the systems are
injured right now. Tigers have like sixteen or seventeen. It
is I mean, it was something that I think was
a christ Six outfielders in West Michigan something like that.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
Yeah, six different players who play outfield and West Michigan
are hurt. You've got we're stut with Woody Hadeen, who's
kind of an infielder outfielder, but he can't play outfield.
Patrick Lee is hurt. Stephen Harstitch I think is out
for the year. One of the guys they brought in
to replace him, Nolan McCarthy is hurt? Who else am
I mind? There are a couple more and Seth Stevenson
is hurt an eerie, So yeah, all these different outfielders
(16:42):
are hurt. So yeah, it's it's tough. It's you know,
none of the guys are necessarily superstars down there, but
it's it just becomes very difficult. You know that they've
signed like four indie ball outfielders this year because they
need the bodies, and it's just one of those strange
things now where with the draft only be twenty rounds long,
you don't have these extra guys lying around anymore, so
(17:04):
you gotta you gotta go sign them and then you
let them go later.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
Yeah, it's like that that indie ball career now, like
getting called up to play you know, high a ball
in West Michigan for a month and then you go
right back to indie ball. But I guess that's better
than better than the alternative. But yeah, it hasn't been
going hasn't been going well down there. I mean it's
not really that like germane to the Tigers and like
(17:29):
the long term future and it's not big time prospects
that we're talking about. But you know, nobody likes to lose,
and that's not how you necessarily want your you know,
your teams to be developing the guys who are there
to get better, you know, you want to want them
around guys who know what they're doing and our experience,
that's that's typically the play for having all these older
veteran position players around. And yeah, it's it's not working.
(17:52):
It's not working at all.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
Yeah, I mean, yeah, for the most part, these are
injuries like that. The Tigers injuries are obviously the most important,
but there are like a handful. You know, I don't
think Percena would have ever come into play this year,
but you know, he's one of their top prospects. Same
with Mantilla. But guys like you know, A Sears and
Jake Miller. Theoretically he could have come up and helped
in a certainly Jake Miller because I'm a forty man.
But yeah, just just just a number of bodies. It's
(18:15):
like a Civil war battlefield out there, and they're just
you know, treoge you get angry and all all that
tough stuff. And I will say that Gage Workman's Brother's
name is Bittner. Bittner.
Speaker 4 (18:26):
Yeah, Yeah, this ext Short. Thing is baffling.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
Yeah, so the last time we're on air, he was
what offense he was on the team, right, m hmm.
And then he was back on the team within a week.
Speaker 4 (18:40):
Yeah, he was. He was up and then he was
d fade and then he was re signed to a
major league deal and brought back. Yeah whatever, it's whatever.
But like they have Paul DeJong, like Paul de Johng
can hit at least, you know, I don't. I don't
get it. He's right handed as well.
Speaker 3 (18:55):
I get I guess they're hoping for somebody to catch
the ball, but we've seen that Short hasn't and the
necessarily great job of doing that either. But yeah, I
mean we were looking at that as like as signing
a boy Workin's never gonna get a chance because instead
of picking engage work when they're like Zach Short. But
then another person got hurt and they're like, all right, whatever.
So I feel like there's one or two people in
(19:15):
the in the organization it's like super happy that workman
got up there and then the home run right away,
because it was like they've probably been pushing for it
forever and ever, and other people are like, no, we
don't worried about the this and that, and you know
he's on the forty now, so let him play.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
He was top three and all. I mean, he was
the entire reason why Toledo's offense has come alive. I mean,
he was doing hit for power, hitting for average, and
when the mud Hens bats came kind of slowed down
a little bit, him and mel Jerry been the only
ones doing it.
Speaker 3 (19:49):
Ahead.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
No, no, yeah, I mean you're you're totally right, Like,
I mean, he's he's had a pretty pretty good year
and you know, I mean, why not use him. I
mean we've talked about, you know, Jay Young quite a bit,
but there's just no utility to a guy like that
unless he's absolutely raking, and it's he's in the same
spot justin Henry Molloy was in, but Jace Young isn't
even Scott Harris guy. And of course Maloy didn't last
(20:11):
with the Braves and got defaded today as well. So
I mean they could end up just like bringing him back.
And I'll tell you, like, that's not a good sign
when you're when guys who are on your forty man,
you know, leave and then get picked up elsewhere and
can't can't stick, you know, anywhere else. You know, maybe
somebody else will pick up j Head. I don't, I
don't know what's going to happen. He cleared waivers that okay,
(20:31):
cleared waivers with the Rays.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
He's back in the minors with them. So yeah, there
was nobody else thought of him as being a worthy
pick up. And I mean I think that it's it's
probably not that long before we see something similar with
Jace Young. You know, I'm sure that there are people
in the ORG who really believe in him too, But
it's it's like, yeah, if you can't contribute right now,
(20:54):
then what what what you sorry of the to the
to the big league team?
Speaker 4 (20:59):
Yeah, I mean that's the thing when your team is
this decimated, if somebody can't help you, now, like what
are they? What are they even doing on the forty man?
You know, there there is always that that question, and
you know, and I don't know, We've talked a bunch
about kind of Scott Harrison sort of the inertia sometimes
of this roster where guys like McKinstry and Beerling are
just like guaranteed spots, they're just considered like regular you know,
parts of this team four years after they acquired him.
(21:21):
And you know, they're just they're guys who like do
a bunch of things okay, but none of them does
anything well to where it gives you like a strength
in any respect.
Speaker 3 (21:30):
You know.
Speaker 4 (21:30):
It's not like Zach Short as a you know, or
Zach McKinstry is a genius defensive infielder. You know, you'd
almost you'd almost rather have a guy like that than
a guy who's just okay and you can just plug in.
And it's the same with vier Ling, like he's he's
all right in the outfield. He can play center field.
It's not it's not bad. He's not good out there either,
but you know you're not hurt by it, and you know,
(21:50):
and he'll hit decently. But they but the complimentary parts
are aren't really there for a roster that that likes
to platoon and likes to mix, mix and match and
have different options. It's pretty much just kind of a
mishmash of right left guys who don't really do anything well,
like you'd almost rather have like you know, Harold Castro
and then like you know, a genius you know outfielder
(22:11):
who can't hit it all. You know, just to like
give give them some you know, some actual balance rather
than just like all these guys are just kind of
ninety WRC guys who are slightly below average defensively everywhere.
You know, it's not ideal.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
I just want to bring up what Charlie said earlier.
He said, I'm not a Scott Harris hater, but Cleveland
acquiring Patrick Bailey from San Francisco shows you can make
a trade and improve your team. He has a shortcoming
in that area, and so I wanted to first and foremost,
by way, if you do want to make donations to
the website, please do so. There's a link in our
show description. Just like I said, we're trying to get
(22:47):
out to some games soon. It's been just crazy crazy
schedule wise, but also weather. Yeah, and the weather. The weather.
I'm not gonna lie. The weather is playing a big factor.
But June, late this month in June, and Fly will
be hitting prey art. But anyway, I like that trade.
I know offensively, he has his shortcomings, but Cleveland addressed
(23:09):
to catching their need and they sent the tugboat. And
then the Giants, I guess are gonna be waving the
white flag and start selling off pieces sooner or later,
I guess, although that's according to Bob nine Gale, but
who knows how legit that is. But either way, I
thought that was a smart move by Cleveland to addresser
defense because that's the way they tend to do things.
(23:30):
It might not make a loss of sense at the time, but.
Speaker 4 (23:32):
They gave up a pretty good amount to get him,
and yeah, yeah, and and the bonus pool money so
they pursued him, and yeah, I mean, I think Buster
Posey is kind of a disaster out there. So like
the Giants are, and especially with Harris's history out there,
the Giants are not a bad team to be, you know,
(23:52):
be kind of scouting for help. I don't know that
they're gonna go like instant fire sale. They just do
really weird stuff out there. Like they decided they want
this shortstop, you know, in the draft, and they're going
to like pay whatever it takes to get them. And
that's like they're you know, I don't know, it's really
really kind of a bizarre I'm not even sure if
i'd call it old school I don't know, I don't
know what it is type of strategy where it's just
(24:13):
like we want to get this guy, and then you know,
we want that guy, but no one can really kind
of put the pieces together as to why. I think
one thing about the Patrick Bailey thing though, is that
we all kind of wondered if framing would be devalued.
And not only is framing, I don't think being devalued.
The guys who are good framers are good at challenging,
and challenging is being you know, up valued. So it
(24:35):
is kind of interesting to see Cleveland, who is very,
very good at run prevention and that's the basis for
everything they do, really value that and go after him
and get him because yeah, it's not like he's going
to do much for him with the bat. But you know,
if you put a good defense out there and you
have a solid pitching staff and you have two catchers
who you know, frame well and can use the challenge
system better than most, that that certainly helps you. So yeah,
(24:59):
it was an interesting t aiden for sure.
Speaker 3 (25:03):
Yeah yeah, uh yeah. It's odd because if you look
by like the metrics, Cleveland actually isn't an above average
defensive team. Right now, this almost feels to me like
like it feels to me like the Giants were reached
out to Cleveland. I like, I I just it's hard
for me to think that anybody would just randomly go,
(25:23):
you know, let's go get Patrick Bailey, like, I mean,
maybe Cleveland would they have Austin Hedges already and the
good Yeah, yeah, I mean Austin Hedges is a great defender.
He can't you know yet unless he's facing tech school
ball for the reason but uh yeah, so it almost
feels like, yeah, the giants were just looking around for
somebody to offload Patrick Bailey too, for whatever reason. But this, Yeah,
(25:47):
I mean I I think I concur that maybe Buster
Posey doesn't know what they alway's doing.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
And they have, you know, these giant contracts that they
want to get rid of, and it's like, okay, well,
who who's gonna take devors right now? Yeah? Nobody? Who's
going to take a damas Maybe somebody but probably not.
You got Matt Chapman and then who else? There's another
big contract out there that that they have.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
Is there a picture load Web?
Speaker 3 (26:13):
They have Web on a pretty reasonable deal now they
want to get if they want to get anything in return.
And he's the guy who trade. I think they have
Robbie Ray too.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Oh yeah, yeah, Okay, I totally forgot Robbi Ray was
even in San Francisco.
Speaker 3 (26:25):
Honestly. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
Yeah, there's not much going on out there, that's for sure.
But yeah, those contracts, most of those contracts, like they'd
have to eat like half of it, you know, to
even get a call, I would assume.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Yeah. So, yeah, it's it's a tough situation they have there.
And I kept thinking that, like, hey, maybe they're you know,
maybe they'll go on and scoopble in the off season.
Speaker 4 (26:44):
But no, I mean, in looking at I watched them,
don't do it, tark, I'm say.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
And watching the Dodgers and Braves this weekend, I watched
quite a bit of that series, and maybe San Francisco
looked at those two teams are like, yeah, we're good,
We're not going anywhere.
Speaker 3 (27:01):
As a statement by the Braves.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
Yeah, they took two out of three after losing Friday night,
he came back Saturday and Sunday. And Matt Olsen is
not a man on the mission. I mean, Matt Olsen
is just I mean, we saw terrorize the Tigers and
he had no problem terrorizing the Dodgers. But the Braves
was even without like the all their injuries on the staff,
just keep take a looking and keep on taking it.
And yeah, I agree to christ it made a big
(27:25):
statement this weekend. Uh So maybe that's what the Giants
c right now is just like what what the hell
are you doing?
Speaker 4 (27:31):
Yeah, everybody else has been wondering that. So I guess
they do have, like, you know, they have a Triple
A catcher that they think is good behind the plate,
and they're kind of like moving on to like, Okay,
well we want to try to develop that guy. Oh
somebody mentioned Jongjo Kang. Yeah, I guess I got him
as well.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
But yeah, John Hooley's making twenty three year Yeah, I
mean they've got got some big contracts there. They brought
up Bryce Eldridge at the play first base for him.
You know, he's got a ton of power, but he's
probably going to strike out at a up and head
back to Triple A. But yeah, I don't know, it's
a it's a straight situation there. I don't know if
there's a good fit for the Tigers. But yeah, I
(28:07):
mean I think that's a simple point. We kind of
got sidetracked there, is that. Yes, Scott Harris at some
point is going to need some make to make some
impactful trades. Mm hm. So far, the most impactful trades
are Zach McKinstry metally, like we talked about, right, Like,
that's that's about it.
Speaker 4 (28:23):
His best trade value for value is for Liam Hicks. Yeah, yeah,
I mean there has to be something like we've talked
a lot about, you know, relentlessly, even about like you know,
guys like Anderson and how You Lee and Jay Young
and Jay Hen, you know, and just like having these
(28:44):
guys who who don't really fit into like a future
plan at least not all of them, and not being
able to like ride the hot streak and trade any
of those guys for anything. It's not easy, Like it's
not like anybody's going to give you, you know, an
elite reliever for you know, Max Anderson or how You Lee.
But if you strike at the right times and find
undervalued you know, talent on teams and can make those
(29:05):
deals good. GM's managed to make that happen sometimes, and
Scott Harris hasn't found any any pitching you know, really
at all. And that's that's the biggest problem. Like I
just think that just comes back to everything, is that
there's you know, we're still waiting on like bow Brisky
to come back. You know, maybe Tyler Madison puts together,
but they don't have any They don't have that like
pair of like hard throwing relief prospects where if they
(29:27):
start to command the ball, all of a sudden, you've
got a really good reliever. They haven't had that. And
you know, this is going on year four and he
just can't seem to find anybody who's you know, on
the cost of a breakout or that they can work
with like that. You know, they traded for Eric Silva.
Eric Silva throws like ninety one with a solid breaking ball. Now,
you know, like the guys they've they've picked up haven't
really done anything at all. So yeah, it's pretty pretty bleak.
(29:49):
And then obviously we've talked about the injuries in the
you know, in the A ball levels a ton, and
we'll get to who's doing well down there later on here.
But yeah, I mean there's you know, the last three
years and seen really anybody advanced except for Sears and Miller,
and you know they're out, you know they're out, and
we don't really know what kind of timetable there is.
Troy Milton was in a villa guy. He's looked good.
(30:10):
Looks like Troy Melton is tracking to be back and
help them out, but they might need him in the rotation,
whereas I was like, we really, we really need Troy
Melton in the bullpen, but that might not be possible
the way things are going.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
By the way, he did get a rough update on
Trey Cruise that he's recovering well and he will be
back soon, but I still know what exactly what the
injury is. Yeah, so I mean yeah, I mean he's
ahead of his recovery time, but he's down in Lakeland
right now. And Pristy I think, didn't Brisky pitching Lakeland
last week?
Speaker 3 (30:39):
Yeah, yeah, Brisky, Seabolt, Melton all pitched in Lakeland last week,
So I would assume Sea Bowl is probably the one
that's going to come up first. Yeah, but then we'll
see what the other two.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
I mean, Milton, yeah, yeah, Seabold was now very long,
so maybe like, yeah, the timetable is short. Brisky's velocity
was was pretty good though he looked he was ninety
five ninety six, so maybe.
Speaker 3 (31:00):
Sixty day as well.
Speaker 4 (31:03):
That's a good question.
Speaker 3 (31:04):
I think he is so he may have.
Speaker 4 (31:05):
Yeah, I think so too, So he probably can't come
back till the end of the Okay, I.
Speaker 3 (31:12):
Just I just saw that the Mets are calling up
a j Ewing, so he'll be making his league debut
against the Tigers. He's a fun player. He's kind of
like a nice Clark what you want mc clark to be,
like really lots of extra base hits, lots of speed,
good defense at center field. Defense.
Speaker 1 (31:30):
I think we saw him last year rob a couple
of guys in hearing. Was he then one of me
that really good catch that was a.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Different player in left field, Try to remember. But but yeah,
we saw Ewing as well, Like he's a good player.
Speaker 4 (31:42):
So yeah, yeah, dadly Ninjabe makes a good point there,
like it's a pitch to contact, you know, staff with
a poor defense, so it's just not you know, it's
just not constructed the way you would want things to be.
And you know, I you know, okay, maybe if Parker
Metals had hit, you know, he'd be in center field
and then you have a better defensive outfield. Overall, I
don't worry that much about the infield. I'm much more
(32:04):
concerned with preventing extra base hits myself, and I don't
think you know, mcgonagall's been fine at shortstop. You know,
Torres is okay enough at second place base and stable.
I think Torgelsen is pretty undervalued by the defensive metrics
because they don't seem to take into account anything that
first baseman do that is different than other infielders. You know,
they kind of just seem to take into account you know,
(32:25):
how you field ground balls, and admittedly he's not great
at that, but you know, he's perfectly fine at first base,
Like I feel pretty comfortable. Like I think if we
tried throwing cold Keith over there, you played jas Young
there a whole bunch, you'd definitely see a noticeable, you know,
decline in success rate. So you know, it's this isn't
(32:45):
the roster they intended to have, is all I'm saying.
But but yeah, it's the inability to find a whole
bunch of swing and miss and and the fact that
they just don't really have that many complimentary pieces. They
just sort of have overlapping ones on the bench who
are now playing full time. Although all those things are
not great, I don't know if you can prepare for
fourteen guys being on the injured list, but you know,
(33:07):
they're they're not in a great position to overcome that
very easily, at least for the next few weeks. Yeah,
they could do some Roth Washington.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
Yeah, it's it's it's a even though we've seen Lee
have some good moments and then some moments are like
oh man, damn it.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
Yeah, he has like the ability.
Speaker 6 (33:26):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean, and that's it was good
to lump him in there with with Young and Anderson
and these guys that like, Yeah, I think for now
he probably still has some trade value because another team
that maybe is not competing says, Okay, we can give
this guy some some time and see what he can do.
Speaker 3 (33:44):
He clearly needs more time in triple A, I think, yeah.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
And it's only he just turned twenty three. He's still
relatively young.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
But yeah, if you just keep him as this sort
of guy who's who's who's coming up and only playing
against lefties at the big league level, and it's just
not gonna provide you a ton of value. I mean, obviously,
you know, the triple the other day was nice. That
home running it early in the year was nice, But
he hasn't done a whole lot other than that, and
Roger the guy we were thinking it was Nick Morbido.
Speaker 1 (34:11):
Oh yeah that's what. Ok.
Speaker 3 (34:12):
Yeah, yeah, if you don't remember, we remember distinctly because
we were at the playoff game Max Clark. Say, the
Sea Wolves were down five before Max Clark let off
the ninth inning with what looked like a double off
the leftfield wall and Morbito jumped up and caught it
and that was basically killed. What would have been a
rally was you know, pack lined out to right field
(34:32):
that would have put Clark on third and then McGonagall
was up. But yeah, there you go mob.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
Morbo and he I mean he, I mean he made him.
I mean the speedy, the cosy speed had on that was.
Speaker 3 (34:46):
Yeah, you could find the highlight. It's it's online.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Speaking of the Max. By the way, it is weird
and almost Chris and I I kid you not, Brandon.
We were having to talk about this last month that
watch Carl Edwards union to become a Tiger a point
and kids, you not, we were we're talking about because
it was just like the type of veteran guy that
you could see. It was in the with the Cubs
when when Harris was there familiar merity and all that.
(35:12):
So I was like, yeah, watch him and of course
he will probably make his Toledo DA don't know. Did
he pitch this weekend?
Speaker 4 (35:18):
No, no, I didn't get picture. Probably pitched this week
as uh yeah, so unless he suddenly gets injured, yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
Yeah, more veto at Mira Battle Stadium. A lot of
a lot of m m but uh yeah. And then
when Scott who is another indie guy who the Tigers signed.
Speaker 3 (35:43):
Yeah, there there were a billion transactions this week, guys
going up, bubble coming down a level. I didn't I
couldn't put them all in there, so I just put
the ones that were sort of relevant. But yeah, at
a lot of movement going on, a lot of you know,
the scrambling at the Bay League level extends down to
the minor league level.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Yeah, even from Joseph. Is it Joseph jose.
Speaker 3 (36:08):
That's the guy they got from Philadelphia for Matt Manning?
Speaker 4 (36:11):
Oh Yeah, yeah, yeah, wasn't it.
Speaker 2 (36:14):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (36:15):
I think Eddie Bajik was talking about that on Twitter
today that they like kind of assigned him. I can't
remember the sequence, but they assigned him to like Toledo
so that they could put him on the injured list
in advance or something and then move him.
Speaker 3 (36:28):
I think that was the Andandre's cologne but part but
but yeah, that's what he said was they basically put
him on Toledo. There was some sort of roster Gennanigans
there so they could avoid having the limit.
Speaker 4 (36:40):
No Junior his son.
Speaker 7 (36:42):
Yeah, so the Tigers split a really good see good
Memphis team, the red Birds that have one of the
best records in the Ale, and Workman did his work
before he got called up.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
And yeah, Anderson came back. Was nice to see. Valencia.
Vancia has really good data toy against fastballs, he's corcious
fastball forty. Well, but of course we all know what
happened with Gay and.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
Yeah, totally I totally forgot to put that in there.
But yes, their manager was fire.
Speaker 4 (37:14):
Yeah. I felt like it was two weeks ago the
way things had gotten. Yeah yeah, yeah, but that's really unfortunate. Yeah,
I mean, obviously gave alberts Is the rising star and
the Tigers have had a lot of this kind of
issue and a lot of bad press and a lot
of bad things go on in the in the old
Illach companies along these lines, with sexual harassment, and other
(37:35):
types of harassment claims. So apparently they're you know, they're
pretty much trying to be or at least trying to
look zero tolerance policy now. So so yeah, I don't know,
it's gay. It's the Mike Hestmen Show now and here
we are.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
Yeah. And one of one of the tough things about
this is that, you know, we Gave has always been
really nice to us, Like we talked, we used to
go into his office and chat with them at Eerie
came up and said hello to us. One of the
backfields and and uh Lakeland, So you know, it really
sucks to talk about this. Uh and when you like,
we have more information than than is publicly available, and
(38:12):
it's just like you want to be like, no, he's
not a creeper, but you know, it's it is what
it is. Unfortunately.
Speaker 4 (38:20):
Yeah, yeah the whole time way really still advised. But yeah, yeah,
worst thing I've ever had had to be smarter.
Speaker 3 (38:29):
But really it's not it's not nothing compared to the
other stuff that you've read about the system and that
other guys in the organization.
Speaker 4 (38:36):
So it's just it's it's not a sam Men's and not.
Speaker 1 (38:40):
Not even not even in the same ballpark or same sport.
It's ridiculous, and yeah, that's that's all I'm gonna say
about it. But yeah, so anyway though, the what's continue on?
And I you know, I even thought that Taylor Uh
generally would get a call up because just because how
(39:01):
the Tighters do things. So it's just like going, it's
just ridiculous. I thought that, like, Okay, well he's a
four foul fielder type and they would call him up.
So I'm glad they didn't. They didn't, and they went
with the Yeah.
Speaker 3 (39:16):
You know, you know, we've talked about this before, like
I won't get fooled again with workmen because workman will
have these weeks where he looks like four and then
I'll have a week where he goes two for twenty
one with twelve strikeouts. But you know what, like the
Tigers need somebody, so just call up the hot hand,
right if he's gonna be hot for a little bit,
go with it, and maybe maybe you can get a
(39:36):
week or two weeks of workmen knocking the ball all
over the park and like just one of those fun
things that happens in baseball, like a Brendan Boss situation
before it collapses, but he's gonna give you more upside
than Tyler Jenrary.
Speaker 4 (39:49):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. And in both cases, like
you know, Workman doesn't need to you know, he's passed
the point of development where you wanted to hit lefties
and try to get better at all these different things
and play super aggressive and you know, try to try
to max out as much as possible on every play.
You know, he's at a point in his career where
he needs to like figure out how to be a
role player of some kind anyway, So it's just as well,
(40:11):
and that's why, you know, Clark needs to develop. So
I haven't heard that any people screaming for Clark. He
finally cooled down the past couple of weeks, and so
everyone all of a sudden like backed away entirely, like, oh,
this is okay, we don't need Max Clark yet. But
you know, Max Clark needs time to develop and do
all these things and hit lefties and you know, learn
to moderate his game in the outfield and you know
a bunch of things. He started to showed a little
(40:31):
pull power this week, and that's you know, usually the
the sign that things are starting to come around for himself.
Hopefully he'll get that going, because you know, it'd be
great if Max was like red hot and I'd be like, oh, yeah,
you better call him up and you need some help.
But he's just not right now.
Speaker 3 (40:44):
So yeah, I mean, and we we're just used to this. Now,
we're used to this. The first two months of the year.
It's Max Clark figuring things out. And yeah, he would
shock me at all if he's red hot by July.
And but like, yeah, he's not ready. And the thing is,
he's not really ready defensively, Like people want him to
come up and be like this defender and he's he
(41:06):
still has the tools to be a good defender, but
it's not all there. Like he's gotten pretty good at
coming in on the ball, but he still struggles anytime
he's got to go near the wall. Yeah, Like he's
not one of those guys is going to make like
a bunch of like leaping grabs at the wall. It's
just not I don't know why. Uh, I know, I
wouldn't want to go running full speed into the wall,
(41:26):
but some of these outfielders do. And he's not one
of those guys.
Speaker 1 (41:30):
Oh, he's a smart defender, and Clark I think Clark
is going to figure it out. And if you're watching
right now.
Speaker 4 (41:35):
Max, yeah, I hope he has better things to do
on Monday night.
Speaker 1 (41:43):
But he's a he's a baseball right. But here's another
thing too, that fan interference call, Chris, Like.
Speaker 3 (41:51):
I thought for sure that was actually a grand Slam. Yeah,
that's a bummer. It's one of those ones you wish
they had replay for, but it would have been cool.
It was still you know, a big two run double.
It helped him blow the game open, so it was
a good at beat. I think he got worked at
the three two I think, and then drove that. So yeah,
I mean you see seeing science from x Clark. But yeah,
(42:12):
it's it's he's.
Speaker 4 (42:13):
Not striking out, you know, he's still you know, still
putting the ball in play a lot and doing that
and it will make a lot of good plays for
you in the outfield. Like he's thrown out a bunch
of guys. There's been a lot of highlight reel like
diving plays, even though some of them are because he
got a you know, a bad jump or whatever. But
but yeah, like you say, there's still like that that
one play every week where you're just like, you know,
(42:35):
a really good major league centerfielder would have made that play.
So yeah, it's just kind of a mixed bag where
he's just still got them some things to work on there.
Speaker 3 (42:42):
Yeah, and when earlier you mentioned, you know, his his
batting average against fastballs, it's still coming with like nine
percent with right it's still the lowest whift rate on
the time. It's just, yeah, he's just not staying the
ball yet, which is again just something where it'll come
with time. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (42:53):
Yeah, Yeah, he's still advanced for his age.
Speaker 3 (42:56):
So that's all you got to remember. One of the
youngest players in Triple A. We keep keep we got
to keep reminding everybody that.
Speaker 4 (43:02):
Yeah, he's not Kevin McGonagall, but he's right right behind
that pace. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (43:07):
From by the way, there was a there's been a
recent comment guy on some of the shows who's been
trolling Kevin McGonagall that watch him be back down ale
a Band of June after that, and look, mcgonaga last struggle,
but this was expected to happen, and it's okay.
Speaker 4 (43:24):
Even his struggles are like, yes, three forty OVP three
sotolen bases this week, So.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
Yeah, it's it's all very relative. Yes, he's still walking
more than he's striking out. It's just like he's getting
himself out a little bit now, which is yeah, it's fine, right. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (43:39):
They seem to have kind of figured out that if
they they you know, feed him away for strikes and
then go up. Yeah, you know, they can get him
to extend the bat and kind of pop out and
hit lazy fly balls to left field. So there's you know,
there'll be something to adjust to you there a little bit.
Speaker 1 (43:53):
By the way, when I saw this, I thought it
was a title with Richmond. Richmond is holy crap.
Speaker 3 (43:58):
Yes, yeah, so Eerie went four and to last week
and lost the game.
Speaker 4 (44:05):
The squirrels be flying.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
Yeah, there's a and you know what, by the way,
I do like Charlotte Traill's I think that Valencia has
a good chance to possibly make a way uh call
up to if he continues to do what he's doing.
I mean, if he he's figuring things out a little
bit more. But if he can do what he just
his fieldings, that's where his biggest drawback is, and that's
(44:27):
if you can play first base better. Yeah, saying the
saying for people out there, I know what people are
gonna say I forget I say that, but that so
back to Eerie, you know, Tony tipical cap tip of
the captain forgetting this team turned around with basically four
or five starters, four starters out, and he's been able
(44:48):
to make do. Miller. I still I still believe that
Joe Miller. I look, I know that every week that
the hits, the strikeounts are still there. I still think
he's gonna be air. I still think he useful in
some way, shape or form.
Speaker 4 (45:01):
Me.
Speaker 1 (45:01):
He's getting there for those who the case were a
fan fan group. He did pitch better.
Speaker 3 (45:09):
That was That was a tough one. He was like
very good through three and then the fourth inning it
all fell apart. So just one of those things with
the knuckleball, I guess.
Speaker 4 (45:18):
And then yeah, it's just not consistent enough to ever
depend on, you know, at the major league level. But yeah,
you know, he's had some better outings lately.
Speaker 1 (45:27):
I like Pacheco's numbers. I know they don't seven for
twenty three, but five walks. He wasn't walking earlier in
the year. Now he's starting to walk a little bit,
So that's a that's a good sign.
Speaker 4 (45:36):
I thought Pacheco would be really overwhelmed at double A
for for most of this season, Like I was prepared
for it to be a whole nother kind of spinning
the wheels kind of thing. But he's actually been okay.
He's been holding his own.
Speaker 3 (45:49):
Yeah, I mean it's been ugly at times. I think
the week before it was it was pretty nasty. I
think he's still hitting well under two hundred, but yeah,
I mean he's a guy that it's going to take
some time for him to figure things out, and you
hope that he can. Hopefully this is the start of it.
You know, Callahan and Pack keep putting up numbers, the
Callahan particular, Like I'm looking, so he's got six homers
(46:13):
and thirteen steals a longed to go with with six doubles.
In triple we have fifteen walks and thirty strikeouts, So
it's all the air for him. Really. Peck has six
homers and eleven steals with ten doubles.
Speaker 1 (46:26):
Packs.
Speaker 3 (46:28):
The problem with Peck though, is it's three walks and
thirty two strikeouts.
Speaker 4 (46:30):
But although it has been better the last a couple
of those first two weeks were rough.
Speaker 3 (46:35):
He had a couple really weak on the road too. Yeah,
I mean, these are two guys who are like, these
are legitimate prospects who who knows. I mean, we may
see them Intledo later in the year. So yeah, just
nice developments there for sure.
Speaker 4 (46:49):
Yeah, yeah, creeping up quite a bit and kind of
when you look at what yeah again, when we look
at Anderson and Lee and those guys, it makes it
easier to like move on because, yeah, you've got packing
in Callahan coming who aren't really dissimilar, you know, in
in in quality. They're not quite as advanced a hitter
maybe in either case, but they're more defensively useful. They're
(47:12):
just more well rounded, you know, talented players that kind
of help you, you know, in more of a role situation.
Whereas with Lee and Anderson, it's like this, if this
guy hits a ton and like really breaks out with
the bat, and you might have a full time player.
But if they don't, they're not really useful in any respect.
They're just a little bit more all or nothing in
that regard. So yeah, so that's good. And Andrew Jenkins
(47:32):
has been staying the ball too. I don't don't know,
I don't know what to think about that exactly, because
I've never honestly not paid him enough attention clearly.
Speaker 3 (47:40):
Yeah, I mean he's as primarily a first baseman, and
so it's you know, it's nice to have those guys
you can produce runs and stuff. It's like a Jake Holton, right,
like these are good best to have, but unless you've
got forty home run power, it's it's tough to be
a first basement Yeah, hard get Yeah, I mean peg
and Graham had another really good week, Like he's hit
his first two home runs, both in the same game.
(48:00):
It's like everything's there but for the power for him
right now.
Speaker 4 (48:04):
So maybe Peyton Graham should play more center field?
Speaker 3 (48:07):
Yeah, why not?
Speaker 4 (48:09):
Yeah, I know, I'm just like I put everybody out
there now is a j. Hinch run and Scott Harris
loved to run the team anyway, so you might as well. See,
you know, anybody can run. I'm putting you in center
field to deal with him.
Speaker 3 (48:21):
And you know, the stolen base numbers are ridiculous. Area
is taking advantage of this rule where it's only one disengagement.
Speaker 4 (48:26):
Now, yeah, they're running.
Speaker 3 (48:28):
Stevenson is twenty one for twenty one on steals. Graham
is nineteen for nineteen I'm looking. Let's see, Callahan is
thirteen for fifteen and one. He got caught stealing this weekend.
It probably would not have like if you look at it.
The defender knocked his hand off the bag, so he
should have been safe. But yeah, so's It's a if
you like speed in the occasional home run, Arie's the
(48:49):
team to watch.
Speaker 1 (48:50):
Yep, yeah, yeah, Jake was a good question. I have
to add Pack and Callahan and the forty man after
the season, will.
Speaker 3 (48:57):
He do it?
Speaker 1 (48:58):
Yeah, of course, I think absolutely, Yeah, no doubt. I mean, look, Pratt,
Callahan has been performing a lot better in this in
the first half of the season in Double A. He's
adjusting better. This is his first full season and he's
been able to adapt pretty well. And that w RC
plus is climbing. You love to see him. If you
(49:18):
can continue this into June or passed in July into
the UL Star break, that would be fantastic. And that'd
be a great thing for the Tigers because outfield wise
development they need, they need another hit, they need some
more depth, and we're doing a re rankings right now
by the end of the month, and I know Callahan
is gonna climb up a lot of boards, but he
(49:41):
also gives an opportunity for them to He's healthy, and
I think that's the most important thing. I think it's
the first time he's been healthy and maintaining that so,
you know, a rough injuries.
Speaker 3 (49:51):
In the last two years.
Speaker 4 (49:52):
H Yeah, And you know, I mean we talked about
this a lot, but there's the utility, Like if you
could play any position to and above average degree other
than first base, that helps you a lot. You don't
have to like, you know, be a be an absolutely
great hitter or anything like that. And Callahan could play
center field. Callahan's better in right field. He's got a
big arm, he's fast, all the all those traits you know.
(50:14):
So yeah, I mean there's a lot of reasons to
like Brett Callahan and John Peck, both of those reasons
over some of the guys who are more like forty
five's future value above them, although the two of them
might end up moving into that type category by if
they can keep it going for another month or two.
Speaker 3 (50:30):
Yeah, I would expect Callahan to move up to Toledo when, if,
and when Clark moves up to Detroit. That would seem
to be the move that would make sense, but we'll see.
Speaker 4 (50:40):
Yeah, and Peck, like, you know, they could try him
right now because they don't have a short stop, but
they don't, but they don't want to, you know, and
I can understand that. But he did you know, he
was in spring camp. You know, he's he's he's seen
some things now. So you know, if they decided they
wanted to do that in another month or so, that
would that wouldn't be too shocking either. It's hard to
know because like Trey Cruz, like you know, it would
(51:01):
Cruise be up right now if he was healthy, like
you'd have to think he'd be playing some shortstop in
center field, right.
Speaker 3 (51:06):
Yeah. Absolutely, I think he got hurt at like the
exact wrong time.
Speaker 4 (51:11):
Your depth guys are getting hurt too.
Speaker 3 (51:13):
Yeah, and you know he's a he's a switch hitter,
like you can play everywhere. He would have been very helpful.
So that's unfortunate. But hey, Charles, any chance West Michigan
lose as many games as they won last year, I
h oh, I need to put a space in there.
There's always a chance. I guess. I don't think they're
going to lose ninety three games, but I didn't think
they were going to lose fourteen in a row. They look,
(51:35):
this is coming they this is coming directly off they
swept Lancing in Lancing. They're maybe not too bad, and
it just it just they can't put together a full game.
And it's been it's been everything. It's been bullpen, it's
been errors at the wrong time. It's like there was
a game where they were up by three or whatever
in the ninth and they committed three errors in the inning,
(51:56):
including like a ball getting behind the outfielder that led
three runs score and it was like, oh my god.
So just one of those things when when you lose
fourteen in row, a lot of things have to go wrong.
Speaker 4 (52:06):
Yeah, and it's you know, like it's just odd too
because it comes when they got you know, ben Jacobs
and Rayner and Rayner had a good week and Ben
Jacobs is pitching well, and they got they got some
support and they've got more coming. But they but yeah,
there's a lot of veteran that well, we talked about
this earlier. There's there's a lot of guys who were
signed out of indie ball, and there's a lot of
guys who are just kind of like you know, there
(52:27):
to there's filler, you know to a degree, and they're
they're struggling to get it done.
Speaker 3 (52:33):
Yeah, and it's it's a little bit uh, it's it's
a little bit retribution for last year when they rolled
over that they have to suffer through this.
Speaker 4 (52:40):
But yeah, and you know, some other teams probably are
coming in there, like all right, it's those freaking white Caps,
you know. And there's still there's still carryover guys who
are still at this level who remember so well.
Speaker 3 (52:49):
Yeah, I mean I I spent you know, Dayton was
in there this week, and I remember specifically their their
series in Dayton last year where they they went in
there and it was like eighteen runs a game for saying,
you hit a three run home and then a brand
slam to go ahead in the ninth and just just
demolished them. That was where the great that the dam
announcer was like, you know, they these guys are nuts,
(53:10):
like he said, for years and years they had these
sec and acc players who could not play. It was like,
what a good cook.
Speaker 4 (53:15):
We missed those guys. Now they got their boot on
our neck.
Speaker 3 (53:19):
But yeah, I think, you know, there's still a reason
for us to watch this because Rainer is there and
he does appear to have made some adjustments. I think
Emily put up, Yeah, Emily put up some video side
to side video that shows some some minor adjustments to
his hand placement and I think but.
Speaker 4 (53:36):
Better positure too. You know, he's like he he kind
of must have recognized that, like being all hunched over
like that, it's very hard to get to the pull
side without just spinning. And yeah, so you know, they've
got him a little more upright, and his hands were
a little higher yesterday. Still pretty busy back there. There's
there's things to work on. But for everybody who is
you know, kind of like freaking out about his swing
(53:57):
and everything, like, you.
Speaker 1 (53:57):
Know, he calmed down.
Speaker 4 (53:59):
Yeah, he seems to have made you know, some minor
adjustments pretty well. I just I just want to keep
pounding the table that like the dude missed a year
with a major shoulder surgery. You know, it's not like,
you know, he's not like a veteran twenty eight year
old star player who just comes back and as good
as good as new when it you know, when it
kicks in.
Speaker 3 (54:15):
So yeah, if the man's when those guys do come back,
it's not always right away, like we've We've often mentioned
like ronaldccoonya missing in a year and coming back and
struggling for a little bit. But yeah, I just watch it's.
Speaker 1 (54:29):
For the ten dollars.
Speaker 3 (54:30):
Yes, go Aha'm sorry, Oh I didn't hear the drop.
Did you put it in there? I thought you were,
Oh there is, Yeah, I heard it in the background.
Just his plate appearances, he did strike out three times
in the first game of the week, but other than that,
his plate appearances they were generally epic. He had a
ten pitch at bat earlier in the week that he
(54:52):
worked a walk on like he's he's he's getting really
good at falling off pitches, like he wasn't necessarily stinging
the ball. But it's it's sort of like if you're
going to walk a ton and and hit the ball
one hundred and twelve miles an hour, when you do
hit it, that'll work for now. And you can see
like WRG plus is already up to ninety nine. It
was a part of that is is like a twenty
percent walk great, but and he still has like a
(55:13):
forty percent strikeout, right, But I do think that's going
to come down, And yeah, I think I don't know,
you know, we'll stack up week after week, right like
last week was okay, this week was better. Just keep
keep doing that for a while and then you know,
down the road, we'll see what it looks like.
Speaker 4 (55:28):
Yeah, exactly. Just just kind of let him work and like,
let's not freak out about the results and just just
kind of let him eat. I mean, if he got
the Eerie this year, that would be really advanced progress.
And I don't really you know, I expect him to
kind of work, you know, and maybe get a look
at the end, but you know, he kind of just
needs to build up a lot of reps, that's all.
Speaker 3 (55:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (55:47):
And as far as by the way, Charles, once especially
gets a little healthy, I think he'll be better. I mean,
excuse me, I think especially will be better. It's just
a yeah, the baseball gods are not on the side
of the moment when they need the most, as Colin
said pretty eloquently in the chat. Absolutely, but I think
West Michigan's better than what they have.
Speaker 4 (56:08):
So well, you know, we'll see what happens, and they're
going to get some help. Yeah, you know, if you know.
Speaker 3 (56:15):
We'll talk about some of the help coming soon, I think.
But Yeah, Jacobs had another really good outing, just four
innings this time, but seven strikeouts. Again, he's just striking
out guys. Seven guys an outing no matter what. Still
looks good. Looks he's on track to get up to eerie. Still.
Speaker 4 (56:32):
My boys. Gabriel Reyis finally had a decent outing, but
it's been been rough for him, and in Rainer Casstio
bull so far again.
Speaker 3 (56:38):
Yeah, Rays seemed to find his strikeout pitches, like he
struck out three or four in a row. At one point.
It was like, oh, okay, he seems to have figured
it out, so we'll see. I think I was complaining
about them a while back, and Rogers, like you know,
did in Montero. It's been forever in West Michigan.
Speaker 4 (56:51):
I was like, yeah, you know, you're right, Like, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 3 (56:53):
Not necessarily, we don't necessarily have to write these guys
off yet. It's gonna take some time and you believe
in the stuff. Although I mean that's part of the
problem with Castillos. The stuff kind of went away unfortunately.
Speaker 4 (57:05):
But yeah, my boy, Carlos Marcano got more gas on
the sinker, but it hasn't really come up with a
breaking ball that's really really working, So.
Speaker 3 (57:12):
Yeah, I might even sure if he pitched last week,
I didn't.
Speaker 4 (57:15):
I kind of seem like maybe he got minorly hurt
or was dealing with something, because I don't think I
still saw him either since last weekend.
Speaker 3 (57:22):
Maybe I was.
Speaker 1 (57:23):
Just gonna The reason why I said that too, Brandon
about those made Thor's references is that I think that
for whatever reason, the international pitchers take a little while
at West Michigan then they do anywhere else. I don't
it could be a language thing. I mean, there's a
lot of things to factor into it.
Speaker 4 (57:40):
My guy, the first time I went out to you know,
West Michigan and met the Dutch, you know, it was overwhelming.
Speaker 1 (57:47):
Well, it's living off like you know, I lived.
Speaker 4 (57:49):
The right down and I loved it over there.
Speaker 1 (57:51):
Yeah, I looked off Alpine. I lived like right around
the block from Constant Park where the white Caps play.
Is his adjustment for somebody from if you're coming from
the side of Stea But no, I but it is
like I think about it this way, when Kinda Montaro
told us, or told me that essentially that they didn't
get a language program until year two or three into
(58:13):
his you know, for player profiles. It could be the
case here there. They're still adjusting to that, and it's
like wow, Like I say wow. And then since it
took the Tigers, you know, that long to get stuff.
Speaker 4 (58:28):
Translated, Yeah, yeah, I mean I assume they're doing better
with this, and like, you know, there's more support for
that at Lakeland before they big up to you know,
big go up to West Michigan. And obviously Riverta is
the manager now, which probably helps them somewhat. But but yeah,
it's still it's still a big transition.
Speaker 1 (58:45):
Yeah, and what's gonna be a big transition or it's
being a big transitions Spoon ten. Yeah, just in terms
of translating from being I don't know about him to
going okay, he's back on the prospect later. Yeah, five
in three, hits one or earn run walk and strikes Clivers.
Speaker 3 (59:04):
No, yeah, we finally saw it. We finally saw like, okay,
this is this is fully weaponized Malki Weatherspoon. Yep, he
didn't have double digit wiffs in any of his previous outing.
He goes out gets twenty two. He was just they
were just missing everything and I was saying, oh, yeah, okay,
this will work. So Yeah, if he does that one
or two more times, then he's probably going up to
West Michigan himself. So very very impressive to see. And
(59:27):
that's the sort of power arm that we've been pining for.
So it was nice to see him.
Speaker 4 (59:33):
And I don't know if he has I'm still not
real sure myself. Maybe you guys know for sure, but
whether or not he's got a cutter and a slider,
it seems to me like he just kind of varies
them whether he's trying to get whiffs or throw strikes.
But he was shaping it like a couple of different
ways with command for quite a while during that outing.
It was it was pretty impressive. You know, his fastball
wasn't exactly precise, but he was jamming guys inside and
(59:55):
you know, I mean those guys were absolutely overwhelmed. And
we knew, like all he has to do, I mean,
his locate and he's got the stuff and and we
saw it. We saw it for sure that time.
Speaker 3 (01:00:05):
Yeah, man, I've always treated him as having two different
breaking balls. It was like, yeah, cutter and a slider
or slider and a curve however you want to describe it.
But yeah, he mixes him and matches him. I still
haven't He talked about his chain up. I still haven't
seen it. I think I saw one.
Speaker 4 (01:00:19):
Yeah, yeah, he had a couple. He threw a couple,
I think, but but they were just like ninety mile
pour sinkers didn't really do a whole lot.
Speaker 3 (01:00:27):
But yeah, like, very nice development there, and and we
had some fun fun games. Least say, Jude Warwick had
a monster game had gone through without any home runs,
and he's like, what if I hit two of them
in one game and a double?
Speaker 4 (01:00:40):
So that was when it was one hundred and eight
miles an hour all of a sudden, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:00:43):
Yeah, like I don't think he has done it. Hit
the ball much harder than like one O three, And
suddenly it was like, I don't know that was That
was fun. And you know, Ankony hit a couple of
home runs. Rockerhead a nice week, Sony.
Speaker 4 (01:00:56):
Pet describing me maybe under the waterfront.
Speaker 1 (01:00:59):
You knows, Tigers mats are gonna be a meme of
two unemployed doc workers, half in a suitcase trying to
punch each other. And that's gonna be rightly as fitting
is in New York. Alan, is there any word on
the wet whiskey, the whisky injury. I don't think we've
seen anything. I don't think that was anything.
Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
No, we rarely unless somebody that goes out of the
way to tell us that something happened with you know,
tigers don't inform anybody.
Speaker 4 (01:01:28):
Yeah, you don't hear anything unless someone has surgery, and
sometimes not even then.
Speaker 3 (01:01:32):
Yeah, you know, I'm hold not help. It was the
seven day. I l he didn't appear to be like
it was good. Something felt wrong, but I don't know
what it was. He didn't indicate what it was, so
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:01:45):
It's the same thing with the same thing with Salso too,
did he leave the game, so.
Speaker 3 (01:01:52):
I didn't put that in. Yeah, that that was very odd.
And I think from what I why I can gather
is that like he was not on the rockster or
something like that, like something strange happened because he came out,
he warmed up, he came out, he was getting ready
to pitch, and the umps were looking at something and
then went up and talked to him, and he was
like all upset and he didn't want to leave, and
then he had to and he like threw the through
(01:02:13):
the ball to the ump and went the dugout. That
was it. So they didn't they didn't have him pitch
later in the week, I assume because he had got
all warmed up to this one and they didn't want
to have him do that twice. So they're just skipping
the start, I guess. But uh, yeah, there was.
Speaker 4 (01:02:28):
It wasn't a really explanation for that, you know, it
was really it was strange.
Speaker 3 (01:02:31):
Yeah, I didn't listen. I don't know. Maybe Aaron uh
you know, said what happened before, like the pregame the
next game, but I didn't listen. So uh yeah, just
really an unusual situation because obviously we liked his arm
quite a bit.
Speaker 4 (01:02:44):
Yep, yep might be the best right right right now
you can kind of triangulate between you know, Ben Jacobs, Malachai,
and Kelvius and that's that's kind of the trinity right
now of the three best.
Speaker 1 (01:02:55):
Ones to Brandon's point hammers on the seven eight aisle.
That's a round hall ile. If I've ever seen one
pitch yit since last August. Yeah, we pitched in the
backfields last week and then I haven't seen anything since.
Speaker 3 (01:03:06):
But yeah, I mean with him and I think we're
dealing with multiple injuries that you know, there was one
injury and then there's another and another.
Speaker 4 (01:03:15):
Yeah, but it is kind of like seven days from
any time, you know, just keep them there forever.
Speaker 1 (01:03:22):
The one word to describe this week, by the way,
is yuck. For the scl Tigers, there.
Speaker 3 (01:03:27):
Winless, yeah, and not terribly competitive in most games. I
think they lost eight to one today. At one point
they had I think they were zero to five and
had scored nine runs and that was when I looked
up there was a kid on Tampa who had ten
RBIs that day. Yeah, we did the like we did
(01:03:47):
get to see owhen Hall pitch a little bit unfortunately,
like the Phillies feed was all like there's tons of
artifacting going on, So I don't know if the first
thing is going to be any good, but you know,
he had it looked like his breaking balls were We're
working pretty well. The ass ball was like ninety two
and eighty four, So I may put it up anyway
just because but yeah, other than that, you know, in Coba,
(01:04:09):
all the matters.
Speaker 4 (01:04:09):
Yeah, he and Cober are pitching like just just enough
that they're pitching for me right now.
Speaker 3 (01:04:14):
And you know, Coba like he had a lot of
traffic on the bases, wasn't missing a ton of bats, so,
but you know, it's his first game in the United States,
so and he got into the fourth inning, which is
more than most of these guys could say. Joey Wimpleberg
made his pro debut and then through one inning Jack Buschell.
It was nice to have him back the Australian. Yeah,
he was the Australian before Ali Tanner was the Australian
(01:04:36):
and then he blues arm out like four games into
twenty twenty four, so you know, it's it's been almost
two years. But couldn't seem back in the mound.
Speaker 4 (01:04:44):
Yeah, there wasn't a whole lot of excitement though, Like
Chris Rodriguez didn't didn't do a whole lot, had like
one good game and otherwise was struggling. And Rob Vermirez
was kind of interesting, like, you know, did some things,
but nothing nothing crazy going on this week.
Speaker 3 (01:04:57):
Yeah, that Ronald Ramirez is the one that, like, I'm
curiously can keep this up because if he does, and
he's a guy that was in the FCL last year too,
and he had like three in his DSL debut. A
couple of years ago, and well, this is interesting. It
came to state side. It was like two forty last
year with no power. He looks a little bit bigger.
So if he's if he's if we can hit a
little bit and he's walking more than striking out like
(01:05:17):
he's he's one of those guys we could see in
Lakeland later in the year. So there's that. But again
it's only been like a week plush, so we'll see what.
Speaker 4 (01:05:24):
Yeah. Yeah, and you know, obviously Dala Santos didn't do
a whole lot. Those those are kind of like the
key guys you know from Adaro. But yeah, just kind
of have to wait and see who overcomes and gets
ready to you know, and make their way to Lakeland
sometime this year. Hopefully someone pitches well or hits well
and breaks out.
Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
Yeah, he needed a little bit of a I need
another guy that passed up up a little bit. But
all due time, all due time. But the the uh,
I can't believe we're dying in May with this already.
But the would love to see another international arm maybe
a beauty too at some point and hopefully come out
camp and do something. But yeah, still no word on
(01:06:05):
I did triple checked a couple other things with like
Tiger injuries front and even asking Terry and she hasn't
seen anybody through the backfield, so it's a discouraging but
we'll see.
Speaker 4 (01:06:18):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you'd like to think like Swanson or yeah,
might make it back or wet whisk is something minor
and he's not out too long. But yeah, it's just
a Tigers have a pretty good black box for all that.
Speaker 3 (01:06:33):
Yeah, we never really know until we see, like, oh,
this person put added to the roster today. Yeah, I
got a pitch today then, but.
Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
And then I feel like a dork because I'm all like,
oh God, he's back, and I'm all excited. It's like
because we've never had any you know, it's such a
shock because you have no way to like anticipate when
anyone might emerge from the dark tunnels of the Detroit
Tigers rehead facilities. And that was a topic, you know,
I got asked about a lot this week, like, and
we were talking about it today too, you know, like,
what is going on with the injuries? Is there something
(01:07:01):
wrong you know, in the way, and there's just no
real way to know. All I can all we can say.
I mean I've thought about doing. This is like going
back and reconstructing like every you know, front office decision
that was supposed to help the medical staff. You know, like, Okay,
we're gonna build the biomechanic mechanics department. We're gonna upgrade
all of our strength and conditioning facilities. We've got nutritionists,
we've got dietitians, got new facilities, we've got force plates
(01:07:25):
and all kinds of cool stuff for training.
Speaker 3 (01:07:28):
Guys.
Speaker 4 (01:07:28):
They've spent all this money, you know, they might have
spent like forty or fifty million dollars the past, you know,
five years and trying to build up their ability to
keep their players healthy. And man, it ain't working working
at all. It's worse than it was before.
Speaker 1 (01:07:40):
Well, somebody mentioned too that the Cubs, uh, the Cubs
had with for was it Jesse from uh Lansing was
saying that the Cubs had like what forty guys on
the like.
Speaker 4 (01:07:50):
Some is this is this a Jed Hoyer liney? Interesting
from THEO to Jed to Scott Harris and these guys,
they just can't keep anyone healthy. I don't know, I
don't know. It's the curse, the tradition continues, Yeah, a
tradition unlike any other.
Speaker 1 (01:08:09):
Yeah, somebody, by the way, there's a whimple Bird jersey
for Suresy request.
Speaker 4 (01:08:17):
So yeah, yeah, that's a pretty great name. I mean,
whimple bird.
Speaker 3 (01:08:22):
They had some good names. Cash Piper had, Yeah, first,
really good start where he was he was really h
with his cutter or whatever. Change up where it was
really getting a lot of West two So that was
nice to see.
Speaker 4 (01:08:35):
Yeah, yeah, change up was pretty good Christians and had
a pretty good night as well.
Speaker 3 (01:08:40):
It's been interesting with him. His velocity has not been
up to what it was in his first outing since then,
but he's you know, still finding ways to get swings
to missus with the slider and the change up. So hye,
if I've seen it once, we could see it again.
Give me that ninety three to ninety five yep.
Speaker 4 (01:08:55):
Yeah, like yeah at that angle. Yeah, we'd like to
see that for sure.
Speaker 1 (01:09:00):
So the end of the podcast, I did want to
uh take up take a moment to uh give up,
a tip of the cap, a moment of silence, whatever
you want to call it. Paka Puto who passed away
with a patriotic cancer, and we've the history of this podcast.
We've we've kind of we don't just we always never agreed,
(01:09:20):
sometimes agreed with Packa Puto, and he's he's the guy
who stuck to his opinions. But he was a very
very he knew baseball, he's known, you know, very sport
out there, and but you had to give it out
to him. He did a really good job of engagement
the audience. And I mean he hosted. He was one
of the first prospect writers. I remember talking prospects openly
(01:09:43):
and so it sucks. Cancer sucks, fuck cancer cancer, the
fuck cancer period and uh yeah, I just went.
Speaker 4 (01:09:49):
To sixty Yeah he's only sixty seven. Yeah, like announced
this back in January and that's it. But I mean,
the man had the patience of a saint. Like if
you've ever like driven late night across Michigan listening to
the ticket and like him taking calls at like eleven
and the stuff he would have to explain and work
through for people, and he was just always like really
(01:10:09):
gracious and you know, im patient with people. Knew a
Ton was was really the first of the local guys
because like you know, the beat writers. When we started
doing this in twenty fourteen, fifteen sixteen. Like them, nobody
on the radio knew the first thing about saber metrics,
Like they didn't have the first clue. And Pat was
like the one guy who like actually took it upon
himself to like catch up and educate himself. And I
(01:10:32):
always thought that was, you know, pretty impressive of him.
And you know we've always teased him, but that's just
because he goes okay, And I just have that in
my head like forever, but always always a very very
likable listen and super knowledgeable guy. And yeah, it just sucks.
This sucks.
Speaker 3 (01:10:50):
Yeah, I said, there were some nice his family shared
some some nice stories that he got. I think he
basically got the right it himself to like his memories,
and that was used to read a lot of fun
and you know a lot of the a lot of
the other sports writers who interacted with them. It made
nice tribute. So we talked about Chris mccoski talking about
how they argued that like thought on the softball field
(01:11:12):
and stuff like that. I could see that, Yes.
Speaker 4 (01:11:16):
That was kind of that old school like pugnacious, like
you know sports writer type that doesn't really exist anymore. Like,
you know, he was absolutely scrappy, like didn't know how
to type and just wanted to be wanted to like
cover sports, and they were like, all right, we'll cover
you know, cover you know whatever, volleyball and you know,
the middle of nowhere. And he'd be like, all right, well,
I'll go out there and cover that game and come
(01:11:37):
out and just took like any and all assignments and
and kind of taught himself how to do it. So
that's the kind of thing you don't really have the
opportunity to do much anymore. And that's unfortunate because everyone
now has to be degreed up the wazoo just to
like get a look, you know at a lot of
a lot of jobs. But yeah, he did the old
fashioned way and did it pretty well, so or credit
to him.
Speaker 1 (01:11:57):
Yeah, it's just so when he was talking, there's a
story about it him when he first started, like he
just that's how if I had my apartment and my
you know, get to do this every day. It was
was fine by him.
Speaker 3 (01:12:09):
And that's enough.
Speaker 1 (01:12:10):
Yeah, So that's that's pretty cool.
Speaker 3 (01:12:14):
The rest of base help his family, you know, Yes,
all right, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:12:18):
I saw the pistons to nice creaking too. Although the
pistons are down by nineteen oh are.
Speaker 3 (01:12:24):
Thank you my brother. My brother has been texting me
that infuriating the Pistons could be and he says Jayalen
Duran should be benched for the rest of the year. Things
are going well, yeah apparently.
Speaker 4 (01:12:35):
Yeah. I was like, I'm not I'm not checking it.
What we do is yeah, well, thank you.
Speaker 3 (01:12:40):
Anybody watching us instead of.
Speaker 1 (01:12:41):
That, Yeah, exactly, thank you so much for watching, Thanks
so much for listening. And like I said, we'll be back,
uh the Tigers in town this week against Toronto, so
hopefully I will be yeah, because I'll be out there
Friday and Saturday and see out there and shoot shoot
the breeze and Brandon, what you got going on over
a blessed boys?
Speaker 4 (01:13:00):
Yeah, I got the Workmene article up. I'm working something
on ty Madden at the moment too, just to kind
of like talk about his endless journey to to finally
get here and like you know, showing you know, some
flashes of potential. And that's about it. We got be
interesting to see the Mets because they've been such a
debacle this this year and they've kind of played better lately,
and we're going to see Nolan McLean and Freddy Peralta.
(01:13:22):
So that's not going to be easy, but yeah, we'll
see how that goes. It's always interesting to play them
either way, so it should be a fun sit.
Speaker 1 (01:13:29):
Yeah, hopefully the Tigers can't come away with a series
vic three. It's just yeah, it would be a nice
way to at least take two or three in yeah,
at least five.
Speaker 4 (01:13:41):
Yeah, they could just win a couple series in the
next two weeks and not get swept anywhere. That'd be
a huge win. They'd still be in position, because we
all know, you just have to get in, you know,
late in the season. If we happen to have Framber
and Schooble both healthy and in the rotation, and you've
got like Melton job, maybe vest is back, ken Lee,
you know, you take your shot. Maybe Max Clark is
(01:14:03):
up by then doing things. They could be good by
the end of the year. But man, you got to
get in. So hold mind, y'all.
Speaker 1 (01:14:09):
Yeah, say say a folk, say a clos to everybody.
We'll talk to you later.
Speaker 3 (01:14:12):
Good night.
Speaker 1 (01:14:20):
Mm hmmmm.
