Speaker 1 (00:35):
Another episode? We got a good guest today, my guys
and now.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
And we got a good guess. Man. I was working
hard on this one. Man. We finally got him here. Man,
I know you know he comes with the stories. Man
does not disappoint on any platform that he's on. You
know this this gas is a second overall pick in
twenty ten NBA Draft. Ten year NBA veteran media connoisseur,
culture connoisseur Evan Turner. How you doing, Ohio State legend?

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Man, I'm good Man, I'm good Man. Appreciate y'all having me.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
I was waiting for the invite I'm like, dang, I
know I talked to them on different occasions. I know
I know what they got. I know they got a
party going on this invitement.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
We know you're on every pie. You must get guests
for every pot. So we had the idea you were
on the list.

Speaker 4 (01:22):
It was gonna When I reached out, I told him, listen,
don't tell no stories you told before. Man saving for us. Man,
you know we're good. You know it's mister viral right here.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Now.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
I was racking my brain for different topics we could
get into with et. They introduced the topic for today.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
Go a yeah, Man, So we got the greatest number
two picks of the twenty tenths.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Oh right, I think I might, Man, who was I
might win that one might.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
And it might be up there.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
So you got you got a chance to to protect
your legacy and also talk about some of these guys.
Man that's on this list. Man, you faced off against
some of these dudes, so both for you and Dot
and it should be interesting. I'm sure you're gonna have
some funny stories tied to these people. So you played
some truly productive years for the Sixers and the Celtics.
You put up a career higher seventeen point six boards

(02:19):
and forces and a steal per contest in twenty thirteen
fourteen season for Philly Evan going number two.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
How did it feel?

Speaker 2 (02:30):
Oh? Yeah, going number two was cool. I mean, it's
obviously brah. Making it to the NBA was dope, So
it was a blessing, Like it was. It was a dream.
Like I remember just headed over to the draft and
I'm like, damn, I hope I don't die on the
way over here, because it seems like so it surreal
type like you know what I mean. But I always
like just had a big dream of just like being
at the drafting and shaking David Stearn's hands, so like

(02:52):
seeing all that was kind of like crazy. So it
didn't really hit me until like three or four days later,
but I thought it was pretty cool. It was a
dope memory. And like obviously, like as y'all know, like
being able to play d one, being able to play
pro or even being able to play in the NBA
is dope to be able to live out a dream.
So I enjoyed that, you know. Going to the six series,

(03:13):
I think we either got like make a rhythm or
they have a rhythm.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Like you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
When I got to the six Series the year before that,
it was like a twenty seven win team, you know
what I mean. And I think obviously we were practicing
at like a medical college. I think our our locker
room was like fourteen by fourteen for like fifteen men,
like you know what I mean. Like I think when
it came down to it, we weren't prime or like

(03:40):
in the right position to be successful. I think we
did the most that we could in order to, you know,
try to make something shake. So I remember my second years, myself,
Andrea Goodalad Spencer Halls, Lou Williams, Drew Howday, Eldon Brand,
all those guys, and we were able to go to
the second round of the Eastern Conference Finals, Game seven
versus the Celtics. So that was a big three And

(04:03):
I thought like around that time we did enough to
like stay afloat and keep people like happy. But I
think when it came down the once I left teams
and seeing how they developed their young guys, whether it
be like, hey, we're in a win now situation or
you're in a win now situation, you don't usually draft
a young guy and kind of play on this like
a six or seven man. You know, when I saw

(04:25):
like guys like John Wall, like Wesley Johnson, DeMarcus Cousins, like,
you know, even though they didn't make the playoffs for
their third or fourth year, by time they did make
the playoffs, they were they were heavily impactful in that situation.
But also too, they kind of got their reps up,
like you know what I mean, even like when you
look at some of these young quarterbacks, it's like, hey, bro,
David Carr his first year, he was throwing fifty attempts

(04:48):
like just to get they reps up. And I think
when it came down to it, what you could have sold.
I think personally, we you know, we put you know,
a a band aid on a bleeding But when you
draft the player that high, you got to be ready
to take him and get him to uh, you know,
get him to that status to help you carry your franchise.

(05:09):
And whether I was good enough or not, you didn't
know anything until my third year. And by that time,
like shit, the trap was over jumping, like you know
what I mean, they traded people, you know.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Yeah, I was having this debate with somebody the other day,
like when you get a young player who drafted high,
is it better to put him in a situation where
they focus on a couple of things and be greaded
those things or do you just throw them to the
wolves and let them make mistakes on maybe a worse
team because you had vet when you came in, you
had some some vests around you who knew that you
had to kind of have to play a role. At

(05:38):
the same time, Yeah, no, absolutely.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
You know, Lou Williams went on to be a three
time sticks Maan Andre Lecdolla's gonna be a Hall of Famer.
He's on the best defenders at least Drew Howday undoubted,
like you know basketball, but he's probably one of the
best players, like of our of our generations. So like
when it came down to it, I think we had
players that you were building up. But I think also

(06:02):
at the same time when it also came down to it, Uh,
you know that the NBA is all about your footing
and how you come in and like sometimes when you
got your quote unquote out for like your baby out
is coming a certain type of way. You got them
eating grass, you know what I mean, You're gonna you're
gonna struggle with the ones that's eating steak. You feel me? So?

Speaker 1 (06:21):
But did you did you know you were gonna go too? Yeah,
obviously had a hell of a couse career. Did you
know you're gonna go number two? Or did you fight
and move up draft boards or what? No?

Speaker 3 (06:29):
I knew I was.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
To be honest with you, I knew I was going
to go too, like Pauls when the bass dropped Washington,
d C. When uh, you know what I mean, I
knew John Wall was going here. I'm like, take myself back. Yeah, yeah,
I know at very least I'm going too. So my
my agent at the time was David Farkner's like, bro,
you're going number two to Philly unless I can get
a trade for Kobe. I'm like, oh, they're not trading

(06:51):
for Kobe.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Like, so, I'm with you.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
And that's basically what occurred. And I think, uh if
I would have looked back on it because I wasn't tripping,
but I wanted to go seven and I knew seven
was Golden State, and I was just like, all right, bro,
I don't shoot, but I need to do that can
shoot when we could play off each other, and that
was your brother, but that would have been like thirty
five minutes too late, you know.

Speaker 4 (07:13):
What I mean.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
That's what I was going to ask you, is there
is there a team that you wanted to look to
go to because it could have been a better fit. Obviously,
you know how to leave work, like you know fit.
Sometimes some of these young was, Oh, I want a
good draft as high as possible.

Speaker 3 (07:25):
I don't care.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
I might go to the worst fit, but I want
to go wherever. Now the jig kind of up on that.
People know, like situation is so important to your career,
you're willing to sacrifice a couple MS to go to
a better, better team.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
You're absolutely right, bruh.

Speaker 2 (07:38):
And like I said earlier, like to be honest with you,
I was a big fan of you know staff, you know,
when he was in college. But I also knew how
I played, and I knew like in college, I played
around a bunch of shooters and I'm like, hey, bro,
like I was working out and I'm like, bro, that
three point line as long as hell, Like I can't,
like I can't. I can't even hit the backboard from there, like,

(07:59):
and I was just being realistic, and I need somebody
like to play off the ball, like my my mentors like, yo,
like this dude, Steph Curry, like his range just from
the parking lot, like he's tough. And I was like,
all right, well maybe we can match up well. But well,
my agent had told me at the time. You know,
it's a Sefanski, he was a he was a president
in GM and he's like, we're gonna get we're gonna

(08:20):
draft him, and we're gonna trade it a dollar. Like
you understand I'm saying. So by the time I got drafted,
they brought in rid Thorn and shout out og rod Thorn.
At og rod Thorn was like, hey, bro, I don't
trade good players. So if you can't beat him out,
that's just what that's just that's just.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
What it is, big dog.

Speaker 2 (08:40):
And I'm like, okay, facts, facts, And I said, but
y'all has said y'all my parking spot was gonna be
towards the front, and it's like, nah, like I don't
trade good players. And from there, like I was able
to do a lot of dope stuff. I was able
to be part of like a lot of great teams.
But I think I learned a lot so much from winning.
But I also comprehend when I went to other places
and went to Boston and I'm like, oh, this is

(09:02):
oh I'm sitting for two weeks because Marcus Smart has
to developed, Like oh that's that's lovely, Like, Okay, I'm
twenty five years old. I'm still before my prime, Like
what do you mean? Like you're telling me now, like, hey,
you're going to play a different position and Avery Bradley's
going to shoot the shots you were just shooting the
year before. And it's like, oh, this is how you

(09:23):
develop your talent, Like do you understand what I'm saying?
And I always respected that. I never took you like
personal because I'm like no, like I remember Danny Ain't
saying just because a guy is older than another guy
doesn't mean he's better than them. And I was like
when I heard that, I was like, Ron, I'm glad.
Like when it comes down to competition, I never want
to be given anything, absolutely not. But this is a business.

(09:46):
This is like position, and like when it comes to
pieces and how much money you're putting in, you have
to make sure guys are successful as possible. When I
had Michael Cardon Williams as a rookie, I kind of
saw similar things when I'm going to talk to Brett
Brown at the end of the game and being like, yo,
why didn't you get me the rock?

Speaker 3 (10:02):
I was hot.

Speaker 2 (10:03):
He's like, hey, bro, like love you to death, but
I'm supposed to be developing, dude, so you can with.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Yeah, I mean, I'm delayed in but this is what
I dealt with the last few years of my career.
I'll be getting the game, have a quick ten I'm
coming out like a figure man.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
Only that EXE. I be pissed, Like you know, I
was only making shots every blue moon. Like your numbers
is like elite and it's like you get to the
point and you almost have to uh, you gotta get
in where you fit in man, and like and I
think what makes you a true professional. I think what
makes you a real true professional of like how you
came up Pauls is you know how you can adapt

(10:43):
in any situation and you know what I mean, and
stay afloat a monthst like I think people forget Like
I'm like, all right, bro, I wasn't able to be
an all star.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
I was able to.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Adapt, change my game, stay in the league, the best
league in the world for ten years and like sometimes
I pat myself on the back and Steff, you know,
you see a bunch of your home. It's like, bro,
I'm getting my passport like by boy Yards or whatever.
And we staying fighting being like yo, I'm I'm gonna
make ten points here. I'm gonna get off the mind here,
and it's a it's and you know, when you start
becoming a specialist in the minimum, you see how good

(11:15):
you really are, Like you.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Know what I mean, that's hard to do too. And
we're gonna look at some people on this list who
exactly like you just said, they couldn't adapt or they
didn't want to adapt. They felt like they had to
live up to whatever the pressure was on them. In
they two three years, four years, you ain't seen them
since in the league. Yeah, they didn't. They didn't. They
didn't adapt and have the ten years before we move on.

Speaker 4 (11:36):
I wanted to move on to one thing, I mean,
hit on one thing. Is there such thing as a
second pick bust? And also is there a situation where
there's less pressure not being number one? And saying I
just can kind of blend in that in that pocket
of to the to the whatever lottery you get what

(11:59):
I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
I think, man, this case by case.

Speaker 2 (12:02):
Sometimes you just get it, like you might have one year,
like shout out to Zach. I don't know, I say
my man's name he nights. Don't get me wrong, ressa
sheer RESSI year.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Yeah, Like if buddy, you don't hit on nothing, you know,
like gonna be like, damn, Zach, you left the hood.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Damn Like none of that. I like.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
Oh, Like, I think it's different levels for how you
read it, and that's just the bystander, like when Pete
when I came out of college, like John had pressure
and like I had pressure.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
Like even to this day, people.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Walk up to me and it's kind of back in
the complidence, like bro, I fuck with you at Ohio State.
But like dudes really thought like I was going to
be you know what I mean whatever, So I think
I don't think so much like when you come down
the second, second pick, there's a lot to ask for it,
like you know what I mean, So you can't you
can't run from that. I think the first pick is
always the toughest pick. I think the second pick people

(12:53):
are still on your top, especially if you come down
to on this one a one b.

Speaker 3 (12:57):
Look at d Rose.

Speaker 2 (12:58):
Look you know what I mean, you got might be so,
you got Wiggins, who I don't think really gets viewed
as a one pick in Jabari, But at the time
it's the craziest you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (13:09):
Well, on this list, we got a lot of guys
that thrived in college, and I feel like that college
in this decade, it was dedicated to the guy that
was actually cooking in the tournament.

Speaker 1 (13:20):
Derek Williams.

Speaker 4 (13:21):
Derek Williams undersized power for that u of a. You
know what I mean, had a crazy run in the tournament.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
If you beat Duke back then, like if you went
on the range, just beat Duke, you're at least good
for four or five years.

Speaker 4 (13:36):
You know.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
I always say we put them on like we that
that was the team Kyrie Kyle Singler and we had
guys up down sweet sixteen. We ran up against him.

Speaker 4 (13:48):
And it didn't help that he was super athletic and
he was you know, he was going crazy. He managed
to still get off seven years in the league before
going across the water. He's doing he's still playing over
there doing this thing. Basketball don't stop. But again we
talk about being drafted in certain teams and going in
certain situations. It just didn't translate.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
I think he was before his time, too man to me,
like they kind of he was that real three four
twinger where he if they let him play the four consistently,
he could have been an eye. I feel like they
trying to kind of pigeonhole him to be like a
perimeter three man strictly.

Speaker 2 (14:23):
I feel yeah, yeah, but back in the day you
gotta remember too, like this is an old NBA where
you still had the guard and score, so like that
still mattered. Like so you sit there, the four men
was still a dog, so like you had to be
a man to go guarded four and then two. When
when it comes down to the wings, like shit, the
wings are still a dog. Like people are like, why

(14:43):
weren't you good? It's like bro Lebrin and them were
still young, like.

Speaker 3 (14:46):
You know, like you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (14:48):
Like it's like like the best hoopers in the history
of the game floated around our time, so like you
know what I mean.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Like, so it was his position and it was like
his position, it was wing like three four. It wasn't
like now it's all point guard, it's all guard. Point
guards now.

Speaker 2 (15:06):
Yeah, yeah, one thousand and there's much more patience. Like
even even when you look at like PJ. Washington, you
could have viewed Derek you know, Wins as a PJ. Washington.
But like just the freedom of being like the fuckery
I feel like nowadays in the hoop game, like you
might have a six' ten dude not touch the. Paint
even THOUGH i think it's Like, winby it's crazy for
me That weinby shoots five feet behind the three point,

(15:29):
Line like it's, cute But i'm, like, bro what like no.

Speaker 4 (15:32):
Dogging but he did make a good. Adjustment he only
took two threes last.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
Game he changed this.

Speaker 4 (15:39):
Year this, YEAR i THINK i think he's NOT i
think he's not allowing himself to be tricked out his.

Speaker 2 (15:44):
Position yeah he had twelve last, year he was taking
twelve threes a, game but, like, yeah BUT i feel,
like you, know like the level like right, now even
back then When Derek willens pulled, UP i, mean we're
only shooting twelve three, tonight like you know What i'm.
Saying so like the freedom of the, game the freedom
of the. Pace BUT i Think god finding their identity
in that role was, tough AND i think him being
a number two, pick AND i think them drafting so

(16:06):
high with you, know such a unique skill set in
something that needed to be catered to so much wasn't
advantageous to, him and he broke out into being a
you know WHAT i, mean a guy that you know
helped you, know.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
All, right this next, Player, michael.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
Only worse humper in. Mine, YEAH i might be up, there.

Speaker 4 (16:30):
Said you might have you might have a strong, case
you know WHAT i, mean right when the game was, changing,
uh you, know with the space of the floor and
able to. Shoot Michael Kurt Michael Michael. Kidd gilkers was
a hustle guard and, defender you know WHAT i. Mean
but he lacked so much.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
Offense AND i THINK.

Speaker 2 (16:54):
I felt so bad about my career up until this,
point bro and y'all made me FEEL i.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
Hey we said it might be. Therapy with a lot
of confidence that was around this, time like the if
you were a legit high school player and you didn't
show too much like good or, bad you were gonna go.
High you were sneaking. High and he was that Like.
Kentucky he was solid At, kentucky the ass stacked. Team

(17:20):
it back like.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
Three jumpers in seven, games but most of the time.

Speaker 2 (17:26):
And Cali party is basically just calling people like, YEAH
i got. Enough at one, point he's just sending dudes
to the top, five like people are just. Trusting Like
Daniel ording in twenty ten went first. Round he barely,
played like you know WHAT i, Mean like.

Speaker 1 (17:38):
Like but he's he worked out. All he, nice but
he don't play for.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
You but, draft, yeah, yeah one thousand. Percent great. Example all,
RIGHT i really LIKE i REALLY i really Like Victor oladipoy.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
And, okay, okay all, right all the depot was to go, thousand.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
All the depots to two Time All, star one Time All.
Defense especially you know he was cooking one Most Improved
player twenty, three five and four and nearly a block
of game for The, pacers you know WHAT i.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Mean that's when they were going on their run and
its like. Dominant like even bro when they played Cass
bro he was. Bro he was dunky like it was
like a seven foot. Rim he was his rum was.

Speaker 3 (18:21):
Unreal.

Speaker 2 (18:21):
Bro he was a. Problem he was good on both.
ENDS i, think like even if you look at How
Tyrese halliburnon Got indiana jumping like he low key Got
indiana jumping at that same. Level, bro he just got.
Hurt like lock keep, hooping, man but MAYBE i like
not saying hang it, out, broh but like you ain't
done enough for. Me, man you ain't gotta you know

(18:41):
WHAT i, mean come back and get you two.

Speaker 1 (18:43):
Points, yeah this is this is the argument when you
look at the, list like they always say in the first,
round you happy if you find a guy who has
a who's a legit rotation player for a long, time.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
For a good.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
Career this is the argument where like is your? Peak
you want to high a peak or you want somebody
who's good for nine ten. Years. Yeah yeah he had that,
peak like he had that strong peak where he was
ALL nba and just you thought he was one of the,
ones and injuries cut him.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Short. Yeah, MAN i.

Speaker 2 (19:11):
Think when you move that, fast that, explosive, man it,
is you know WHAT i. Mean but then even when
you do, peak, man like sometimes we like longevity or
like when guys like we're gonna save it for the.
Future it's, like, bro like the next thing winning championship
in fifty something, Years like people might not ever reach the.
Peak we talked about number two picks that didn't even
like paying. Out so like even when you ask some,

(19:32):
owners they, like, hey bro them two. Years, MAN i
had me like faux extra boats like my daughter had
it badley because you know WHAT i, mean because Because
vic had this, whole this whole place, jumping you know
WHAT i?

Speaker 4 (19:42):
Mean All, Right the next player out Of, Chicago Jari
parker Park Ye.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
JABARI i THINK i Think jabari for. Sure JABARI i
think was the one. JUMPING i think he was. Legit h.
Man it's sad he got, hurt, bro like you know
how supposed To jabari Was, Bro he's a missmat. Problem
he was unbelievable, man that Was those injuries are.

Speaker 1 (20:05):
Terrible cold him after him And kyrie bought and one
of duns back To. Duke so like this was coach
K i JUST i need, talent, man forget The, YEAH
i got, It come, on, Man i'll take.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
YOU i.

Speaker 1 (20:19):
Wanted i'll leave it next. Year but let's.

Speaker 3 (20:21):
Rock.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
Yeah, jabari despite, injuries was able to squeeze out eight
years in THE. Nba his his year three h twenty
points per, game six, rebounds eight, assist one. Steal you
know WHAT i, mean really hooping and like like you
mentioned uh injury and then had another, injury AND i
think that takes a lot, mentally and you, know fortunately

(20:44):
he's he's still hooping across the water right, now trying
to do his. Thing but you know a lot of
a lot of these guys injuries cut them. Short, uh
D'Angelo russell's is the next.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
Person bro D rustle was nice man as a big
d Rust. Man, YEAH i, SEE i think one thing
to kill you know this as well as. ANYTHING i
think another thing to kill in like a big. Market
you under see What i'm, saying and like the killing
the big market Like New. York AND i think even
though d rust never had like crazy crazy like playoff,
runs that, running he was able to do like the you,

(21:16):
Know Red Knight brooklyn and kind of get like back
on the, map get all start going even after like
the fallout IN la was kind OF i love that. Lot,
ACTUALLY i think D russell's. ELITE i think probably he.
WAS i think he's probably ahead Of Jabari parker for.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
Me for.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
Sure he still wrote me he's still, playing he, said
he's still still active out of this.

Speaker 4 (21:39):
Group career guy seventeen six and. Three, again like you,
mentioned getting that all.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
START i guess it was some grace, too because he
had to deal with the Whole Kobe servius.

Speaker 4 (21:49):
MAN i feel like he's had to play with a
lot of guys that have that, demand that, gravity you
know What i'm. Saying he's dealing With, ron you know
WHAT i, mean and then you know he went from
kind of bounced around a.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
Bit.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
YEAH i JUST i just think like when you do
some of those names in, D'Angelo his name was such
a you, know in such a high phase and you,
know obviously a lot of stuff that came with, it
WHERE i think even, now like when he speaks on
a game of basketball and you're so, lofty people are
so you, know so, judging you.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
Know, yeah Brandon ingray one Time All Star league M
i put, together you, KNOW i mean twenty, three six
and four first season for the.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
Pelicanslid here at the top of the, list and him
it was.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Also averaged twenty to last seven.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
Seasons, yeah, NO i got, him bro and low.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Key we got to give credit to Brandon ingrams because you,
know SOMETIMES i think like the blue collar label goes
to only like it's almost like when the white boys
struggle with being like deceptively quick as opposed to being
called fast.

Speaker 3 (22:55):
Sneak, sneak yeah right now on the, squad like he
just went to the to the.

Speaker 2 (23:03):
Moon but LIKE i think when Brandon, Ingram i've heard
like a lot of dope things about him being like
a gym. Rat him shoe in the second he, lands
she in the, second you know WHAT i, Mean like
him being in gym, nine stopped working on his. Craft
AND i think even when he got traded From New
orleans when they were good to a certain, EXTENT i
think his mindset and how he approaches each day is

(23:24):
a culture changer because now you look In, toronto look
what they're, Doing look how they're, Jumping AND i just,
think you, know sometimes you gotta give a flyer to
the dudes that's really doing. Work because we just said
he averaged seven for the past twenty, years and people
wouldn't even bring that, up like an average twenty for
like the you know WHAT i, mean twenty for the
past seven years is. Crazy, yeah he' a.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
Worker and you, CAN'T i, mean you can't say the
same thing about the guy who was drafted number one
ahead of, him my, God Ben, simmons and he was
not he had the. Peak though he had the peak
where he was ALL, nba he was one of the
best players the. League you think redraft, that you Think
philly Taking Ben simmons again over a bit Over brandon or.

Speaker 2 (24:07):
Nine NOW i think long, TERM i think a superstar
comes with a certain, level Like Premam, donna you know
WHAT i. Mean SO i think like if you had
to know like personality and Like ben like all this
because you were mad because you had to learn how to,
shoot it's, Crazy like that's like the bad kid being

(24:28):
told to read in, Class like you know WHAT i,
Mean like you're just getting angry over. Nothing AND i
think like when it came down to, personality like the
dude just sat. Out LIKE i think when you're looking
at drafting people so, high you're trying to look at
a franchise, changer and, uh somebody can like really lead a. Culture,
so LIKE i, SAID i think you have to redo
it be Brandon. Ingram but even when you look At Ben,

(24:49):
simmons he was so so good, y'all y'all correct me
If i'm, Wrong but like averaging sixteen points when as
much as he had the, ball or like what do
you have like nine nine rebounds like seven sists, unbelievable
don't get it, wrong but like you know as well
AS i, do extet like if you had the ball
for thirty five minutes shamp like, yeah like sixteen or off,

(25:11):
nineteen like you know What i'm. Saying so LIKE i
remember it used to be in a game and be
like damn tobia his hairs with The clippers.

Speaker 3 (25:16):
Was just about to be an all start and he.

Speaker 2 (25:18):
Comes over here and now shout out To Brett, brown who's.
Developing But i'm, like, hey, bro all these plays you
running with?

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Him beat this.

Speaker 2 (25:25):
Out you need to be running for to buy his,
Hairs like you understand What i'm. Saying AND i just
felt LIKE i wasn't shocked when his game started teetering
if the system wasn't for him to, rock like you
know WHAT i.

Speaker 1 (25:38):
Mean, yeah but when you look at his, numbers three
Time All, Star ALL, Nba First Team ALL, Nba like.

Speaker 3 (25:46):
But defense is.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Crazy, argument defense was. Crazy but like you, said you
gotta gotta have a system. Round you gotta have all
shooting around. Him put the ball in his hands even
though he he ain't scoring.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
IT i think he's going to BE i think that's
a lot of conversation for a lot of. Players you
know WHAT i mean when you do, it when they
try to do the comparisons and you think about everybody
situation and how their teams are built around you know
WHAT i mean for your? Success you know WHAT i,
Mean because if you got a bad, team you are
a bad.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Team you know WHAT i.

Speaker 4 (26:13):
Mean you could take all the shots you. Want that's
a whole different. Situation but like if you mentioned you
go To Golden state and you're playing with the system
that you thought ideal was for, you probably wouldn't be
on this podcast right. Now you might still playing with
a couple of championship but You.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
But it's about, coaching Like Mark jackson, Unlocked like he
went To San antonio and told them, like, HEY i
got the best shooting dual, Ever like your brother And
clay were, puppies, Bro like do you Understand i'm saying
it's coming down to find somebody putting your position coach,
Forget like it's all about putting everybody in position to,
succeed not to sit still and be like, yo he

(26:48):
don't fit WHAT i got going. On it's like no,
brother the same WAY i got to, Adapt AND i
mean it's the same way you gotta adapt.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
Food, Like, yeah it's an infrastructure they from top to about,
them from the coach staff to the front. Office it's
not only about AM i playing you a lot of
minutes letting you. Rock AM i building the roster around
you to make you look? Good like IF i draft
you AND i don't know you shaid like a NEW
gm came in right.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
After, yeah, yeah so we got.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
Drafted IF i draft, you it's my job to make
it look LIKE i took the RIGHT i made the
right draft. Pick SO i gotta it's the next five.
YEAR i gotta make you look as good as.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
POSSIBLE i just, think like you, know in THE, nba
there's a lot of people. There there's like five or
teen people that are going to be good, globally and
there's a lot of people that they're only going to
be as good as their coach. Needs, say are like
you know WHAT i mean a physician to? Do so
how you fit into their? System you know What i'm?

Speaker 3 (27:36):
Saying?

Speaker 4 (27:37):
Yeah, Absolutely our next player drafted by The Lakers Lonzo.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
Ball, Oh i'm a Big linzo.

Speaker 2 (27:44):
Fan you want to know what's so tough About linzo
BECAUSE i Think linzos is such a great like basketball,
player like, overall like even when him developing this jump,
shot he could still beat you and play at a
high level just without. SCORING i thought he. WAS i
thought he's starting to. WATCH i think the one year
when he played with The, bulls when they had The bulls,

(28:05):
CRACKING i, think like people don't talk about it and
not feel like what happened On bulls lavine or they
blamed The Martin. Rosen it's, like now we had a
little room for, air but we lost arguably a top
five point guard in.

Speaker 1 (28:18):
The league at That, yeah they get him a whole
number of. Situation his numbers don't really match up to his.
Impact he not he out there thinking about. Him it was, like,
oh you watch him. Play he played the right. Way
he gonna make the right pass that might not lead
to the. Cists he gonna get people. Involved he got
a good feel for the. Game he like a real
point guard who Who you see his when he on the,

(28:38):
Floor you see his, impact not in the. Stats so
LIKE i don't feel like it was all gonna be
hard for him to live up to. That i'm a
star in the, league like numbers, wise he's never.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Twenty, yeah but even like in this position, too like
being like in the eight man. Rotation but before he
really got, HURT i thought he was on his way
to being An All, Star like you know WHAT i,
Mean like he was shooting forty.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
Percent it was.

Speaker 1 (28:58):
Hoping but it was for like two.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
Months. Yeah, yeah the rolling, sometimes, man that's that's good
enough for the. Casuals you feel, me it's true.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
Career that One All star, game that's all you. Need
one on.

Speaker 4 (29:15):
Star you can get your you can get your, chips,
right all, Right Marvin, bagley.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
BRO i, REALLY i really Like.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
MARVIN i knew he wasn't gonna be like good in
the league because he just loved that left too. Much
BUT i just loved THAT i knew like everywhere he
went he just put up, numbers like you understand What i'm,
Saying like he knew how to get a. BUCKET i, Think,
uh they had like a few a few.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
Guys seth was there In sack for a.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
Minute that's What i'm.

Speaker 1 (29:43):
Saying, man we both was over there With nick Stalk
is In portland for. This, yeah, bro hey, man one
good game every two.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
Weeks, Yeah i'm not splitting one more minute with. Another it's.
Five it's five people fighting fighting for one role. Position
you look one night people going home man and Tell
seth might have twenty eight minutes one, Night i'm at.

Speaker 3 (30:11):
Eight then the next NIGHT i got twenty. Six i'm,
like what you man? For like what one a?

Speaker 2 (30:16):
Minute like you know What i'm, Saying Like, Seth seth
hit a, Jumper you're, like, well there goes my.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Night like, literally.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Speaking Of, portland what's your? Favorite you, know when you
guys would teammates favorite story that we probably wouldn't, know you.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
Won't know that they wouldn't do it often BECAUSE i
DON'T i don't, know Be Send i'm, SAYING i, remember
because we would be we Love dame LIKE i Love damon.
Depth so like when than would have hot numbers or
sometimes they would put like the shooting numbers up on
the board of like league leaders and threes and, stuff

(30:51):
or like y'allda do that a, oh Like dame's kind
of leading and had a step in this, category category
of that. Category so sometimes AS i was sitting next
To seth in the film, room so when they would
kind of bring it, up people, like, oh, yeah good.
Ship damn you kind of see yourself kind of, like come, on,
bro like is this dad as serious like?

Speaker 1 (31:12):
This like you know WHAT i?

Speaker 2 (31:14):
Mean OR i would ask him questions like you, Know
seth's kind of, quiet you. KNOW i used always playing
man Like, yo after we Beat denver in like game,
seven we land In San, francisco so about to play
The Western Confence. Finals SO i see him next, DAY i, Say,
yo what you do last? Night mane to my brother's. House,
Like i'm, like, bro is he?

Speaker 3 (31:32):
Nervous like he?

Speaker 2 (31:33):
Worried like he's like about? What, Like, bro we on
a roll like they like they just struggled With. Houston he's, like,
nah man thirty and scene a, lot he's not worried ABOUT.

Speaker 1 (31:49):
I was always in a tough spot because.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
Yeah but it snapped into my head Because i'm, Like, Bro,
seth just don't be saying it's just Like ein'tan called
him Like, steph he called him.

Speaker 3 (31:58):
THIRTY i was, LIKE i don't even realize What i'm talking.

Speaker 2 (32:00):
About you, know you're, Like, BRO i, Said, man you
worried about, us like you're talking about they beat a
hundred times.

Speaker 1 (32:10):
My life to beat. Them they were were not Pressed, bro.

Speaker 2 (32:16):
Something like every time we'd be up seventeen to start
the half and then before you know, it by the
first time, Out, bro we only up. Nine you can
see everybody in the huddle like.

Speaker 1 (32:26):
Shit i'd be, like, YEAH i was the closest suite
of all. Time we should have won the, series but
we got. Sweat that's All i'm, saying me, crazy like, nah,
no ya, hey it was four oh, right, no but
we were up like, Bro and then it breaks off
them every game and shout.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Out To damon c jcobse like the mentality was, there
BUT i was, Saying, okay if we're up to slow it,
down you can't do this with. Them you're trying to
knock Out.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
Mike you can't do.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
This i'm talking about them. Boys, literally it seem like
they would come out of Halftime bro by time the
first time, out hit Is, bro you ever been bro
to be only up by nine with like twenty two
minutes last for The.

Speaker 4 (33:06):
Warrior you know it's coming rud coming every time because
that's like three shots no and no and, Yeah and.

Speaker 2 (33:15):
Then when you sit, there it's like coming off the,
bench it's like all, right no Suthing it's LIKE i
ain't got enough firepower to stop this, motion like like
the starter's got to play the whole, Night like because you, Don't, Bro.

Speaker 1 (33:26):
Bro and THEN k did he played in F kd
was he didn't even play that?

Speaker 2 (33:29):
Series he, Was, man, Yeah i'm. Embarrassed, Man i'm actually,
yeah that was actually kind of.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
Crazy. Bro they. BEATS i thought it was quoting what it,
was and clearly it. Wasn't. Bro they swept.

Speaker 1 (33:45):
Us they swept. Us but we was up in the
First i'm playing in the first three. Games we was
up fifteen plus in the second.

Speaker 4 (33:52):
Half, hey it's Up blazers fan right, now still talking
about that.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
Series they love that.

Speaker 2 (33:59):
Run they, was, yeah it was a fun. TIME i,
think like also to the number, One like remember we
had when we all got. TRADED i remember Like seth me, Up,
like come, On, bro this IS i Know seth like,
No sobey says. Something i'm, like, Damn i'm gonna be.
Mad it got to be something he, Saying, Na, man
he don, Know, bro we just helped them get to

(34:20):
like the first spot we ever been in twenty, years
like the trade us for? What and THEN i was just, Like,
BRO i ain't evenly. Trip he, said, no, bro what
they's saying is, mad, disrespectful And i'm, like you, think
like what like they made it seem like we did
nothing for.

Speaker 3 (34:34):
THEM i was, like, DAMN i never. THOUGHT i was,
like why ain't you really? Shoot she said it don't.
Matter we. Won we were winning and.

Speaker 1 (34:41):
Said that we had the, part we had a good.
Team figure had it rolls figured out we had kind
of kind of had too, much but it was it
was rolling and then you split it up for what
like you feel like you gotta do something, Different but
teams always.

Speaker 4 (34:53):
Do that THOUGH i feel like they're one year. Away
do you get What i'm, saying not saying, like, oh
y'all with a steam rolled the the next, year but
y'all probably would have just got stronger as a, unit.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
You know WHAT i?

Speaker 2 (35:05):
Mean and that was the number one thing seth correct
me If i'm, wrong like, unity WHICH i think we
took for granted because the next, year, arguably like used to, say, like,
yo every year they win training camp in regards to the,
headlines and it's like there's no. Chemistry they limped to
the first round every, year get swept, again and it
was like our unit was, like hey, man we talked

(35:27):
about that. Series like the first, series LIKE, seth you
played a. LOT i played like two minutes we go
to next, SERIES i played a lot of chie like.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
You, know see What i'm.

Speaker 2 (35:35):
Saying but like when it comes down to what made
the most sense and who's on, it like the same,
accord it's about like your stars and pushing them forward
and making it. Easier AND i don't think like the
next set Of roster was going to Accommodate game OR
cj the way it should have because you have young
guys Like Hoodie Gary, trent junior guys trying to, score

(35:56):
guys who are, like hey, bro he never passed a,
rock like you know WHAT i? Mean and dudes, said
like the only reason why we were probably because we
were adults.

Speaker 1 (36:03):
And you know it was a good inniche where guys could,
hoop but we were confident in who we knew who
we were WAS nba.

Speaker 2 (36:09):
Players, yeah and they're just like, yeah, bro LIKE i
ain't supposed to be doing, this, Man like like do
you understand it's like all, right?

Speaker 3 (36:15):
Bro cool like this all?

Speaker 2 (36:17):
Right they zoning, up all, RIGHT i probably won't play this,
Series like and you're cool with, That.

Speaker 4 (36:22):
Like you know WHAT i.

Speaker 1 (36:22):
Mean BUT i always show you love for, that for
that BECAUSE i WAS i was coming off a year
WHEN i missed the whole last, YEAR i was heard
of as stress, fractures AND i was getting my rhythm
back in the. Year AND i REMEMBER i went into the.
Game we used to come in the game at the same,
time run the second unit or. Whatever AND i came
out the game and ONCE i sat down there and you, Said,
hey what you? Doing? Man he was, Like he's like

(36:44):
WHEN i WHEN i WHEN i dribbled to give you the,
ball you to drip a hand, off shoot that thing every,
time and then it ain't coming back to. You you
get across the other, side you ain't gonna find it.
Again you're gonna be looking At you're gonna go home
in the night feeling.

Speaker 2 (36:56):
Stupid that's WHAT i, said because the first, time like
you kind of, MISSING i, Said i'm kind of missing.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
You i'm finding a. Franchise now you're, Coming i'm kind
of missing. You i'm, like, look, BRO i only got four.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
SHOTS i give you one of my, Two like you
know WHAT i, Mean i'll give you a, couple But i'll, say, yo,
bro this this they telling me to pass a dude
like this ball ain't coming, back so Like i'll find
you WHEN i find. You So i'm being dead. Ass,
honestly it's not coming back to. You, FAM i, said
you can be mad me all you. Want i'm going
to keep me a, job like.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
You know WHAT i.

Speaker 4 (37:25):
Mean but so so for our listeners that ain't never
played in THE, nba probably never hope and you say
you got to get the ball to the franchise and
you you know when you're, in especially from a second, unit.

Speaker 1 (37:38):
What does that? Mean?

Speaker 3 (37:40):
Man it just means like shoot whatever it was.

Speaker 4 (37:42):
Like in a, scenario you know you may have a.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
Drive all, Right i'll say this every.

Speaker 2 (37:47):
Time so, LOOK i would get the ball on the break,
man my whole, CAREER i might in and, out get
to the rat try to lay up my. Body at
one point got programmed at SECOND i HEARD E T
E t Team, MAN i damn there tripping front a
whole game to pass it to. Him like do you
understand What i'm? Saying but at the same, time when

(38:08):
you sit there like, that ain't work really. Hard he's
one of those guys that you. Comprehend you notice his
impact when he was, missing like do you understand What i'm?
Saying and also, too as a pros, pro you know your,
role accept your, role and you're starting your. Role it's
like why did they bring me? Here like what AM
i doing? Here what AM i supposed to be? Doing

(38:28):
like you know What i'm? Saying AND i think when
it comes down to communication and just knowing the game
and seeming like, yo where can you? Impact how can
you make yourself? Useful how can you do this on
a Third AND i think eventually it became like you,
know being like in a service role of like just
trying to make sure my guys were set up and you,
know you, know being a, pro but making sure we

(38:49):
all have fun. TOO i thought we had fun as
a second. UNIT i, thought like we be in practice
whooping adds, too like we we like being a second, unit.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
Like you know WHAT i?

Speaker 4 (38:57):
Mean?

Speaker 1 (38:57):
Nice yeah you want mini game out?

Speaker 2 (38:59):
There then remember the first game Versus, lakers we played
the whole fourth quarter like we? Think, yeah SO i
thought we had an adult. SQUAD i think remember the
one time you got mad stuff and you strowing off the.

Speaker 3 (39:13):
Back.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
WHICH i don't which time was?

Speaker 3 (39:17):
It SO i think.

Speaker 1 (39:20):
You.

Speaker 2 (39:20):
UH i think you're you're coming back from. Injury you're
trying to get Your you're trying to just your legs under.
You SO i, think like we're blowing somebody. Out you're
like five or, Five so he just took you off the.
FOURTH i think they played like Gary an because they
never played oh.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
Yeah, yeah, wow wow you LIKE I i was mad
BECAUSE i was only playing ten to fifteen minutes at.
Night yeah, YEAH i played them, minutes BUT i couldn't.
PLAY i feel like it was a blowout either. Way
BUT i couldn't finish. TOO i had it, GOING i.
COULDN'T i wasn't. ENOUGH i was, like one't good enough
to play twenty five. Minutes BUT i wasn't bad enough

(39:57):
or young enough to finish the game and get my
twenty two twenty five WHEN i had it.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
Rolling, yeah AND i remember he was.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
Hot BUT i, think like sometimes you gotta take like
a step, Back AND i think at that point in your,
career you're still trying to prove. YOURSELF i don't think
you realize it's like so, good you're still so. HUNGRY
i don't think he made it. Something he's throw him.

Speaker 3 (40:15):
Out he just go in the weight. Room SO i followed.
ME i, Said, bro what's what's wrong with?

Speaker 1 (40:21):
You?

Speaker 2 (40:21):
Bro like LIKE i didn't really Know steff at the,
time so like he kind of like he, like SO
i don't know if he's like not talking and not
go off on. Me like But i'm, like, hey, bro
not to tell you none of your, business but like
we got an off day, tomorrow so like this gonna
look crazy like like up by. Twenty So i'm just
trying to play to. THAT i, Said, Bro i'm be

(40:42):
honest with. YOU G, Like, bro you're gonna take my
minutes like you ain't missing like two or three, weeks.

Speaker 3 (40:47):
Like we blowing people. Out LIKE i, Say, bro you
want to play very some little ass, kids like it's a,
Blowout like you look.

Speaker 1 (40:53):
CRAZY i don't know you basically telling me you like you.
Solid don't.

Speaker 2 (40:56):
WORRY i say, THAT G, bro you've been shooting ninety
fifty forty like you're a REAL nba. Player, Bro i'm
telling you you do not want to be out there
hooping with these little ass. Kids, BRO i, SAID i,
said take your ten and go, home like if you
came home with, twenty like nobody would. CARE i was, Like,
bro we grown. Man you, straight But i'm, like you

(41:16):
gonna look crazy and a blowout and you out, Here i'm.

Speaker 3 (41:21):
Crazy, yeah you Not.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
Finna you definitely Not finna play and, like and this
is coming from somebody who spit minutes with, You i'm, like.

Speaker 3 (41:27):
Bro you, Wow.

Speaker 1 (41:30):
I'm right to get my twenty.

Speaker 2 (41:32):
Five yeah, YEAH i was, Like i'm, like, bro you
don't want twenty five and these bombs like it won't
even help, us no more.

Speaker 1 (41:38):
Like aficient fishing fifteen is better than twenty. Five and
in a, blowout you hear that that's valid advice from a.

Speaker 4 (41:46):
Vet All, right we got one more. Player John, Morant.

Speaker 3 (41:50):
Oh, damn all.

Speaker 2 (41:51):
RIGHT i Think i'm out The i'm in the bottom five, now.
Yo John morant was a WEEK i, Think, Uh i'm
a big fan of Job. BRO i think he said.
DOPE i think you shoe lines. DOPE i think even
though he's been in, Trouble, bro the dude is a Culture,
like he's just a. Culture he's Culture, bro just culture
like wavy like when people like iriside like he's probably

(42:12):
the closest thing we got to iris and whether it
coming like, SWAG i guess like the bad boy image
like all, that like the women love, him like the
dude is. WAVY i Think Jahn morant was a crazy.
HOOPER i THINK i saw a stat like before he
got in, trouble he was the most popular player like
in THE, nba like on the, road like it is
everybody's favorite. Player AND i, think, uh you, Know, seth

(42:34):
you've seen. It but like there's certain people that are real.
Entertainment AND i don't know if he'll get back to that.
Level but for two or three, years it was like like,
damn When Blake griffin first came, out just like you
couldn't believe what he was going to do, next and you,
know you gotta get you gotta get kudos to.

Speaker 4 (42:49):
That All, right we're gonna take a quick, break but
when we come, back we're gonna list our five greatest
second picks on the twenty ten all, Right god, man

(43:09):
we done went through a flash for the past twenty.
Ten it's a lot of you, know good, players a
lot of players that ain't in the league. Anymore but
respect to everybody that we, Listed So i'm curious to
hear who's your.

Speaker 1 (43:25):
Five i'm gonna. Start i'm gonna start off with my
number five and that's my guy right. Here having turned number,
FIVE i had to debate him And linzo with. Me
played the big time playoff moments on a lot of different,
teams had a long. Career that's my number. Five number
FOUR i got D Lo so that's Buck eye Buck
eye five and. Four number three Vic oadipo the, peak

(43:49):
just that that three year run In indiana was. Crazy
number Two Brandon ingram And john number.

Speaker 3 (43:56):
ONE i like.

Speaker 4 (43:58):
THAT i like, that, man that's you, KNOW i mean all,
stars you get, that you get that punch. MAN i
mean you did, something. Man but also we reward, longevity.
Man and you know if if if it means. Anything
so far on this, List, evan you've played the longest
than anyone on this.

Speaker 1 (44:16):
List oh oh, yes fast fun.

Speaker 4 (44:20):
Fact so So i'm going to Copy seth And i'm
gonna have you at. Five. Uh at, Four i'm going
to go With Victor oladipo was getting All stars and
stuff like. That number, Three i'm going to go, with,

(44:41):
uh what's? That now THAT i think about, IT i
have the same list as you because it didn't stagger
on the ONE i was going to GIVE. JP i
was gonna Boost evan at four and Put jabari at.
Five But i'm Gonna i'm gonna have. That this is
the first time ever we've had the same. Five reflecting on,

(45:02):
it it IS i DON'T i don't THINK i could
kind of plug and play anybody from. That all, Right
evan is your.

Speaker 3 (45:08):
Turn i'm gonna Go Jabari. Parker i'm gonna.

Speaker 1 (45:14):
Go jabari is still playing, overseas, Right he's still, yeah
he's still.

Speaker 3 (45:18):
Playing i'm gonna go J.

Speaker 2 (45:21):
Parker i'm gonna go D. Russ i'm gonna Go. Damn
i'm gonna Go John, Morant Victor, oladepot Brandam. Ingram i'm
gonna throw those dudes in my. Five i'm not In Jabari.
Parker different space in my heart because that was a
Real chicago, legend so like to, us like growing, up
like that's the closest thing Like jesus Shallows. WORTH i

(45:43):
coached him one year In Boston. Celtics we used to
play one on one AND i was very confident in
my ones, game but LIKE i was, like, man this
dude is man injuries is. In it's a mad because
he was even After that's twenty twenty one quick feet
Jumper Miss mass problem dunk both hands.

Speaker 1 (46:06):
Like that, quick had that quick feet and be heavy
and strong like.

Speaker 3 (46:12):
That, yeah, yeah like, no it was god.

Speaker 2 (46:14):
GIVING i think the only THING i will, SAY i,
guess like not even tooot my own, horn but to
make it like a case because we put so much
stocking shooting as you, should, like don't ever get it.
Wrong like shooting is. Unbelievable you need a space of.
Floor it's a habit you. NEED i think one thing
that came down to, ME i got judged so heavily

(46:37):
on shooting and like we never AND i and that
like it was. Bad BUT i was an elite mid range.

Speaker 1 (46:42):
Shooter BUT i, say you could shoot you just not not.
Three you didn't shoot?

Speaker 3 (46:45):
Three yeah that's.

Speaker 1 (46:47):
What.

Speaker 2 (46:47):
Yeah AND i felt LIKE i was helping the team
by that. Shooting he's, like, bro like you shot with
me step they ain't never go. In so he's, like,
Bro i'm not. Developing were trying to.

Speaker 3 (46:54):
Win but you know What i'm.

Speaker 2 (46:56):
Saying BUT i think the only THING i would say
at certain moments in time where it was, like, oh
LIKE i would get triple, DOUBLES i would be able
to do, THIS i thought like the shooting played so
much of how good of a PLAYER i developed into
at a certain, point or the RUNS i went on
where it was like, damn, like oh, no you can never,
develop never shooting and, said oh, no LIKE i give

(47:16):
you that. Credit BUT i KNEW i was for five
or six minutes each. GAME i thought it was the
best player on the. COURT i THOUGHT i could help
guys get. BETTER i, thought, like correct me If i'm.
Wrong in big, moments big, GAMES i always showed up
to be one of the the better to play well
and not to like toot, that But i'd be, like,
HEY i hang my hat on being like, yo when

(47:37):
pros came to, play it was a pros. GAME i
was ANYWHERE i, WENT i was always top eight in,
there AND i was always like down to the nitty
gritty AND i just you know WHAT i, mean, yeah.

Speaker 1 (47:48):
TWO i MEAN i think that year Of portland, alone
WHILE i had a FIRST i, win this to a
two triple doubles off the, bench.

Speaker 2 (47:55):
Right oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah that's a fun time In.
Portland bro we had a really cool, team AND i just, think, uh,
OBVIOUSLY i think even we had like damn, Moments like
the personality of the culture was like just so so,

(48:15):
fun you know WHAT i, Mean Like, Meyers, zach Like,
Jake like we had like a funny ass group of.

Speaker 1 (48:21):
Dudes it's like you, look you look, back and you
realize how that team could get to The Western conference finals.

Speaker 2 (48:28):
And, yeah yeah one, Thousand LIKE i think we're picked
like eleven and we're going to every game and it'd
be like you look outside looking in and, like, bro
these dudes ain't finna be ready to. Win we're finna
win the night and we're finna get like wins like
How and it's, like oh, no we JUST i guess played,
together like you know What i'm.

Speaker 1 (48:46):
Saying, Nah but like still to the, day you see
people LIKE i was a Fake Western conference, Run like
it's not, hot it's not we get we Beat, okay
so everybody thought was gonna be. There YEAH i got
him out of that.

Speaker 3 (48:58):
Quick and then then bro that was With yeah bro that, Game,
bro that game.

Speaker 2 (49:04):
Seven bro we're down twenty. Again, bro people don't understand
how hard it is to come back from twenty in the.
Altitude at one, Point.

Speaker 1 (49:10):
I'm, like we won game seven on the row In.
Denver put some respect on.

Speaker 2 (49:16):
That, Yeah and to be, honest with, you like there
was certain stuff LIKE i Thought i'd do all my
life AND i. Didn't i'm, like damn a game. Seven
when it went to game, Seven i'm, like, man you
know we don't play well and you know WHAT i.

Speaker 3 (49:27):
Mean you KNOW i can't breathe.

Speaker 1 (49:28):
Up there like you you closed that. One, yeah, yeah we,
went hey you my man for.

Speaker 3 (49:34):
That G i remember. Closed seth ran up and a
big as.

Speaker 1 (49:39):
Damn really fun said, NO i told. YOU i told
you AND cj after the. Game thank, You. BRO i need.
IT i need to match up with the. Bro thank.

Speaker 2 (49:47):
You and, yeah that's real because like like LIKE i,
said LIKE i was here When dame got hurt and
you were there When dame got, hurt AND i remember
taxing gallium And seth AND i was, like, bro Ask
seth what he?

Speaker 3 (50:01):
Thinks you know WHAT i?

Speaker 2 (50:02):
Mean so like When seth gives you credit or it's, like,
yo that was a big like BECAUSE i know. IT i,
know like a lot of conversation you have with your.
DAD i know your dad's from the old. SCHOOL i,
know like y'all Know, hoopers y'all, know, right y'all know,
wrong y'all know when it's Like, hey, broh there was
games you were supposed to play, in and you played
in that game like you know WHAT i. Mean and
then we went to the next, series AND i thought

(50:23):
that was the, Coolest like seeing you go ahead to
head with your brother and.

Speaker 3 (50:27):
You're going plow, key bro we should have a.

Speaker 2 (50:30):
Conversation if you got the same, type you got the
same type of, attention you could have you could have
Been Steph.

Speaker 3 (50:36):
Curry, man that's another.

Speaker 1 (50:38):
Pot we're gonna bring you back on for.

Speaker 2 (50:40):
That for that.

Speaker 3 (50:40):
Pot, yeah that's gonna be. Therapy that's gonna be, therapy.

Speaker 4 (50:44):
Therapy.

Speaker 1 (50:46):
The greatest therapy of all.

Speaker 4 (50:48):
Time All, right we're gonna take one more, break and
when we come, back we're gonna do our favorite. Segment
born in The Wrong.

Speaker 1 (50:54):
Era All, right we're. Back we're gonna start With Evan.

Speaker 4 (51:10):
Man we went through a list of players through the
twenty ten.

Speaker 1 (51:13):
Decade get.

Speaker 4 (51:14):
This you could choose yourself too thinking About born in
The Wrong?

Speaker 1 (51:17):
Era that could kill in this. Era you're talking about,
me or you're talking about, somebody, anybody anybody that like
say a player who was maybe a little bit before that.

Speaker 3 (51:27):
Time like the.

Speaker 1 (51:29):
Game obviously the game has changed since two. Thousands let
me Think i'll jump out there and go With Derrick williams.
First like Dere, WALLIAMS i feel like if you would
have if you'd have been drafted five six years, LATER
i feel like he had had a longer career because,
he LIKE i, said he was like an. Undersize you
didn't have to pitch a hool him into a, position

(51:50):
so he could have Been he could have gave him the,
Ball you could have let him play three, four whatever
and just do his thing instead of having it like you,
said he had the. Guard he was a little too
small to guard the Big David west for, man but
then he wasn't really a wing like that all the.

Speaker 2 (52:04):
Way SO i got some of those, guys obviously not
so much the guys hit the, league but like dudes
you might not ever thought of, So like you look
At Jake kelly From, iowa like he was he played versus.
ME i remember in my sophomore year he was averaging
when they moved him to the point guard, spot like twenty,
five eight and, eight like AND i always thought that

(52:24):
would have been a should, have would have could. HAVE
i look at like Will, beuford like you don't say
What i'm saying by the time we came, out they
were kind Of, yeah that's What i'm. Saying they were
kind of getting rid of just like the one trick
pony of. Scores but like Now will would have a
malite monk type. Role or you look at like you
go back and looking some of the best shooters you
ever look, At LIKE i went number, TWO i was

(52:44):
A player of The. Year BUT i think we come back,
now my Buddy John, diebler sorry For, britain you know
WHAT i, Mean like bringing up guys you might not,
know but it's LIKE i would argue that when we were,
younger he was the best shooter in the, world like
the best amateur shooter in the world six six but
when he came down to, it he got. Drafted was
it in the twenty eleven? Drafts was a? Lockout so

(53:05):
now when you get set up, there we go to
The blazers that had six picks and then got traded
his rights To houston that got twenty picks with the
you know WHAT i. Mean SO i think those are
some of the, guys AND i think one uh one
person that probably that could have made it to this
day that probably just argued in regards to the goat,
conversation Like Michael jordan probably if y'all strugg if they

(53:29):
struggled With demargin rozen and he's going to be a
top twenty. SCORER i Think Michael jordan has still been
like obviously Like i'm talking about like AN O d
level dominant and then you go like A Larry, Bird
LIKE i Think Larry bird would have still been killing
until this day with no, speed no no.

Speaker 1 (53:45):
Nothing that's giving saying if you asked him to step
out and shoot more threes and they could have added
that to the.

Speaker 4 (53:50):
Last.

Speaker 3 (53:51):
Yeah, Yeah and that's What i'm.

Speaker 2 (53:52):
Saying SO i probably don't have that many names for
him to side like the tweeners that like should have
with Like Paul, pressey like the original point for. It
you know What i'm, Saying you go down, there bro
that you can put your answer to your.

Speaker 4 (54:03):
Daddy, YEAH i mean he said it on. Here he
told him on.

Speaker 1 (54:07):
Here, yeah he said he would. Have he said he
would have loved. T. Threese he, said he told us
if he said me.

Speaker 2 (54:15):
Like your, daddy probably he said this kid good like
your daddy produced two. Shooters so like killing in this
day and. Age imagine what he would have did the,
Original like you know What i'm, SAYING i, think, YEAH
i think any of those type of dudes where he
comes down and just being like, yo ALL i need
is to strap with, me like who's the? Shooter LIKE
Jj reddick might have been a different, Level like do
you understand What i'm? Saying like he was averaging eighteen

(54:37):
in the OLD, Nba like you Got.

Speaker 4 (54:40):
Trey man looking at this, List, Man i'm going to
go with. UH i mean, HONESTLY i probably would bank
on Uh Japari parker pre injury if he's coming in fresh,
ye no. Injury, Mismatch hell, yeah. Mismatch hell he quick
off his, speed he's gonna shoot the. Job and Again,

(55:03):
evan like you, MENTIONED i MEAN i could throw you
in there too as, well because you have a little
bit more freedom of.

Speaker 1 (55:09):
Shot yeah you get What i'm.

Speaker 2 (55:11):
Saying so oh yeah, Yet so LIKE i could go
three for nine every night and it ain't nobody. Tripping
NOW i can show up each night and you notice
it steth the.

Speaker 3 (55:19):
Superstars, like, bro you can if you allowed to shoot
forty two, percent sign me, up like from the, floor
like like you know WHAT i? Mean like you ask, me, right,
Bro i'm a.

Speaker 1 (55:28):
Kid now now they're doing a thing where it's like
they doing the thing now with three's like oh you
shoot forty, percent but you ain't shooting. Enough you ain't
SHOOTING i rather they got shoot thirty and get up
ten then then shoot forty, five get up. Four like,
yeah it's it's kind of.

Speaker 4 (55:44):
Insane. Man AND i had a debate all the time
online about it's no longer are you open.

Speaker 1 (55:50):
For a reason or quote unquote just you know WHAT i,
mean like shoot. It there's so many people that just
shoot the. Three everybody play the same, game.

Speaker 3 (55:58):
BRO i use an.

Speaker 2 (55:59):
Example, bro they Like Josh, Skidty Like Josh skiddy back
in the day has been out to. ME i don't
give a damn how many a sists you can, Get
like we don't wait that like three whole seasons for
this man to finally start, hitting which doesn't like like
in Which i'm not. Knocking but it was just like
at one, point, man man with shooting eight or nine
three is a?

Speaker 3 (56:18):
Game how we do? That like we were trying to
like we partial on. Winning we're trying to get the trap,
jump like.

Speaker 4 (56:23):
You know WHAT i?

Speaker 1 (56:23):
Mean exactly. Exactly you sacrifice and games and he's gonna make.
Three he's gonna go three for ten. Eventually, Yeah and it's.

Speaker 2 (56:33):
Just LIKE i, think AND i think in this, situation,
man IT'S i don't, Know, seff you're tell me if
you want like to real, it then you're in a
position right now even when you sit, still you at
the crib and you like how might at the Crib
and ALL i did was shoot forty percent for the
past seven or, Eight, like you don't see What i'm,
Saying like when we start to sit, here it's, like
what IS i hate when people are like the best

(56:54):
players aren't in THE nba, anymore but like we're getting
to a point now it's, like is that the?

Speaker 3 (56:58):
Truth like you, Know, Sae i'm saying.

Speaker 1 (57:00):
It's been the truth for a few for a while,
now and it's it's, BECAUSE i, mean it's a lot
of different, reasons but like you, said it's so much
they don't want better players getting in the way of the.
Development you got these top five picks who eight nine
year vet who's good is better than them right? Now
they don't want any competition with. Them the fan base and,

(57:21):
practice none of that to getting away the development because
they in four or five years they got to be
the one or so.

Speaker 3 (57:28):
You start seeing it from top to. Botty you. Know
it's like at the media. Day you go the media,
Day you're, like, Damn.

Speaker 2 (57:34):
You're, like where are my? Reporters one local, Dude you're,
like who are you here? With but it's, like, Oh
i'm with the.

Speaker 3 (57:42):
Beat you're, like, man, yeah.

Speaker 4 (57:44):
Man, evan we definitely got to have you. Back, man
this was a great. Episode where can they find you
on social?

Speaker 1 (57:51):
Media my social.

Speaker 2 (57:52):
Media Is Evan turner On instagram and then on The
twitter on, acts which you, KNOW i don't think anybody use.
