like just had a big dream of just like being
at the drafting and shaking David Stearn's hands, so like

seeing all that was kind of like crazy. So it
didn't really hit me until like three or four days later,
but I thought it was pretty cool. It was a
dope memory. And like obviously, like as y'all know, like
being able to play d one, being able to play
pro or even being able to play in the NBA
is dope to be able to live out a dream.
So I enjoyed that, you know. Going to the six series,

I think we either got like make a rhythm or
they have a rhythm.

When I got to the six Series the year before that,
it was like a twenty seven win team, you know
what I mean. And I think obviously we were practicing
at like a medical college. I think our our locker
room was like fourteen by fourteen for like fifteen men,

it came down to it, we weren't prime or like

in the right position to be successful. I think we
did the most that we could in order to, you know,
try to make something shake. So I remember my second years, myself,
Andrea Goodalad Spencer Halls, Lou Williams, Drew Howday, Eldon Brand,
all those guys, and we were able to go to
the second round of the Eastern Conference Finals, Game seven
versus the Celtics. So that was a big three And

I thought like around that time we did enough to
like stay afloat and keep people like happy. But I
think when it came down the once I left teams
and seeing how they developed their young guys, whether it
be like, hey, we're in a win now situation or
you're in a win now situation, you don't usually draft
a young guy and kind of play on this like
a six or seven man. You know, when I saw

like guys like John Wall, like Wesley Johnson, DeMarcus Cousins, like,
you know, even though they didn't make the playoffs for
their third or fourth year, by time they did make
the playoffs, they were they were heavily impactful in that situation.
But also too, they kind of got their reps up,
like you know what I mean, even like when you
look at some of these young quarterbacks, it's like, hey, bro,
David Carr his first year, he was throwing fifty attempts

like just to get they reps up. And I think
when it came down to it, what you could have sold.
I think personally, we you know, we put you know,
a a band aid on a bleeding But when you
draft the player that high, you got to be ready
to take him and get him to uh, you know,
get him to that status to help you carry your franchise.

And whether I was good enough or not, you didn't
know anything until my third year. And by that time,
like shit, the trap was over jumping, like you know
what I mean, they traded people, you know.

Yeah, I was having this debate with somebody the other day,
like when you get a young player who drafted high,
is it better to put him in a situation where
they focus on a couple of things and be greaded
those things or do you just throw them to the
wolves and let them make mistakes on maybe a worse
team because you had vet when you came in, you
had some some vests around you who knew that you
had to kind of have to play a role. At

the same time, Yeah, no, absolutely.

You know, Lou Williams went on to be a three

players that you were building up. But I think also

was your brother, but that would have been like thirty
five minutes too late, you know.

is there a team that you wanted to look to
go to because it could have been a better fit. Obviously,
you know how to leave work, like you know fit.

to go wherever. Now the jig kind of up on that.
People know, like situation is so important to your career,
you're willing to sacrifice a couple MS to go to

And like I said earlier, like to be honest with you,
I was a big fan of you know staff, you know,
when he was in college. But I also knew how
I played, and I knew like in college, I played

like I can't. I can't even hit the backboard from there, like,

and I was just being realistic, and I need somebody
like to play off the ball, like my my mentors like, yo,

all right, well maybe we can match up well. But well,
my agent had told me at the time. You know,
it's a Sefanski, he was a he was a president
in GM and he's like, we're gonna get we're gonna

draft him, and we're gonna trade it a dollar. Like
you understand I'm saying. So by the time I got drafted,
they brought in rid Thorn and shout out og rod Thorn.
At og rod Thorn was like, hey, bro, I don't
trade good players. So if you can't beat him out,
that's just what that's just that's just.

And I'm like, okay, facts, facts, And I said, but
y'all has said y'all my parking spot was gonna be

But I think I learned a lot so much from winning.
But I also comprehend when I went to other places

twenty five years old. I'm still before my prime, Like

going to shoot the shots you were just shooting the

develop your talent, Like do you understand what I'm saying?
And I always respected that. I never took you like
personal because I'm like no, like I remember Danny Ain't
saying just because a guy is older than another guy
doesn't mean he's better than them. And I was like
when I heard that, I was like, Ron, I'm glad.
Like when it comes down to competition, I never want
to be given anything, absolutely not. But this is a business.

This is like position, and like when it comes to
pieces and how much money you're putting in, you have
to make sure guys are successful as possible. When I
had Michael Cardon Williams as a rookie, I kind of
saw similar things when I'm going to talk to Brett
Brown at the end of the game and being like, yo,
why didn't you get me the rock?
