Seth Curry returns to the show alongside Tray to break down the greatest Power Forwards of the 1990s. The conversation dives into some of the era’s most iconic players, including Charles Barkley, Karl Malone, Dennis Rodman, Horace Grant, and Chris Webber, and how each of them helped define one of the most physical decades in NBA history.

They also discuss how many careers from that era were shaped by one constant presence: Michael Jordan. Whether players were battling against him in the playoffs or winning championships alongside him, Jordan’s impact looms large over the decade.

Seth and Tray each rank their Top 5 power forwards of the ’90s and debate the player who may have been “born in the wrong era.”

Plus, they react to the 2026 NBA All-Star Game and talk about how Victor Wembanyama’s effort and intensity may have helped set a new tone for how the game could be played moving forward.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
When you think of the Dennis Robbin and the star
he was, and then growing up like how did he
do it? Like how there would never be anybody like
that today, a garbage man being the best, one of
the best rebounds in the league and you're a household names.

Speaker 2 (00:15):
That's great.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
I think that's pretty that's pretty crazy when you think
about someone who was paid to read that right, not to.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Score, guard and rebound.

Speaker 3 (00:31):
Welcome back to another episode of the greatest of their era.
What's going on? Doc?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
What's up? What's up? I'm back.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
Missed a few episodes, but I'm back and ready to
get in the ground.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Man, Man, you were truly missed. You know. We had
Quinn Cook subing for you. You know that has some
good episodes, and he held it down. But it's always
good to have my back court made with me.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
He tapped in, Man, I was tapped in.

Speaker 1 (00:56):
Q came in with some dropping some gems on us,
some first hand knowledge. Man, y'all was talking some some
real hoops. So I was tuning in them episodes and
I did a good job.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Yeah, appreciate it all right, man, speaking of you know,
good hoops. Man, We're gonna talk. We're gonna take a
blast from the past to the nineties. Man, the greatest
power Forwards. Man, we got some good conversation and this
one a lot of people that we've talked about in
other episodes, but you know, not in this particular focus, man.
So let's just jump right into it, man, The greatest

(01:26):
power forward to the nineteen nineties. Man. And this is
the era that your pops played in. But also the
look of the power forward which is completely different. Man.
Like a lot of offenses ran through these guys. You know,
a lot of guys were very defensive, heavy and fit
the team identity. Man, So you know, let's just jump
right into it.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Yeah, the power forward of the nineties, that's kind of
like an engagered species. Now it might be extinct, to
be honest with you, Like the what power forwards like,
a power forwards is basically.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
A wing in today's game.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
And if you're of the archetype that we're gonna talk
about today, these guys who or six nine, six ten,
six eleven was just even shorter, but just stocky and
big and heavy.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Today you're either not in the league or you're.

Speaker 1 (02:09):
A small small center like a small ball center, a
Draymon type, So I think they would, I mean would
to find that position in the in the nineties. Was physicality.
First of all, you kind of had to be the enforcer.
You had to be able to bang down there in
the post. You I think you had to guard. Defense
was one of the main things you brought to the table, rebound, defensive, rebounding.

(02:31):
Then if you stressed the floor, it was out the
fifteen feet right like you created space by hitting the
wing fifteen footer, elbow fifteen footer or even that baseline
stepping out and spreading the floor like that.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
It went always to the three point line. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:47):
And although we're talking about some of the stars of
the league, a lot of reserve guys, a lot of
you know, role players played huge roles in physicality, you
know what I mean. Like you had a bunch of enforcers,
you had a guys that weren't alone, a lot of
cutting through the court, you know what I mean. A
lot of you know guys kept the job because they
were tough. They were using all their files and just

(03:08):
an absolute pain and the paint. But again, like I mentioned,
we're going to talk about some offensive players. You mentioned
the tall ones around six nine, and six ten. Well,
we're going to talk about a player that was actually six'
four and played extremely above the, rim very physical and
strong search for a, start A hall Of, fame eleven
Time All, star eight times in the decade ninety two
to ninety. THREE. Mvp let's let's let's put some respect on.

(03:32):
It he won AN mvp during The jordan. Era you,
Know jordan was really. Greedy he won a bunch of.
MVPs and the fact That barkley got that on that
year and got his team to the. Finals he's also
a member of the seventy Fifth anniversary. Team and you,
know like just thinking About Chuck, Man chuck had real.
Game AND i know a lot of people teasing for
not winning the, ring but this is around the time
where he tried to do it. Hisself towards the end

(03:55):
of his, career he joined The rockets and a few other.
Squads but you, know let's talk About Charles, barkley The
philadelphia seventy six ers and The Phoenix.

Speaker 1 (04:03):
Suns, Yeah, CHUCK i, mean just like this is The
golden era power. Forwards it's got to be The golden.
Era nicknames like the Round mound or rebound was it
or something like.

Speaker 2 (04:13):
That, so, YEAH i mean he was a.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
Monster he was, sick like you, said six,' four carving
out his space and. The paint h was heavy on
the boards offensively. And defensively and then one on one
on that block in that area you couldn't, Come over you.
Really couldn't you had either come all the way over
and double or you or you had to let him
play one on one because obviously illegal defense was still
on the play. Back then so when he left the

(04:36):
one on one on the block or in the pinch
post or whatever at, the elbow he.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
Was.

Speaker 2 (04:40):
Unstoppable man he was getting.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
To, It yeah and you look at some of his
highlights and it might not as be a sexy you
KNOW what. I mean he's, very enforced like basically for
school at. The rim but you think about you, see him,
you know trying to dribble or taking. A three it
seems like his game improved a little, bit more especially
when he got Traded, to phoenix because he had a
supporting cast that allowed him to be a scorer, and
dominant and he took advantage of every. Single matchup most

(05:04):
times you see a guy that Six four guarden somebody
as six ten or seven, to one there's a, matchup
issue not you think you, all right you got to
beat him off. The dribble But like chuck was banging
with these guys like as if he was, there height
you KNOW what. I MEAN and i remember as, A
kid i used to look at his Card and i'm,
just Like How's michael jordan taller?

Speaker 2 (05:23):
Than him?

Speaker 3 (05:24):
How is you KNOW what? I mean like, you know
like it, looked crazy you KNOW what. I mean and for,
a WHILE the nba listened him at, Six six so
even that's not like a huge height for a, power
forward you KNOW what. I mean he was taking up
a lot. Of space BUT when i found out he was,
six four and like, Without shoes i'm just like even
more amazed at the capabilities of things that he was

(05:45):
able to accomplish at.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
That, hight yeah and you said his game was, not sexy.
It was it might have, been ugly to, Be, honest,
LIKE yeah, i mean, you know we watched some of those,
old highlights like he was he rarely put the ball
on his. Left hand he WAS just, i mean it
wasn't it wasn't not, pretty highlights but he just he.
Was effective and put up the, numbers, like yeah that
that move where he did the little right, hand stutter

(06:07):
stuttering in and out and out Pull. UP jay i
think might've been to win the game, or whatever but
it was like nobody everybody more skilled than that.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Today's GAME but i was, gonna say but also think
about the way of. The, respect right if you're playing
him for, the, drive right You're saying i'll bait you.
To shoot he's able to knock that. Shot down that's
a testament to the work that he was putting in
because clearly on the, you know on the, scouting Report
let barkley, do this you KNOW what, i mean or

(06:37):
let him do he was getting it like it's not
easy to score fifty you you KNOW what, I mean
like you can go score fifty on, your kids it's
still going to take effort if they're triple teaming you
and doing all. These things so to do it against
grown men and not have the dribbling capabilities or not
be able to dunk, Every play like, you mentioned the shot,
Wasn't there it, wasn't sexy but it was going in.

(06:59):
All right next Person And Carl malone long Fourteen Time,
all Star FOURTEEN, all nba TWO, time mvp Four Time all,
defensive member part of that. Dream team, you know, wasn't
flashy part of, a system, you know pick and Roll
picking pop was. Stocked in Mister iron man didn't miss
many games, up there you KNOW what, I Mean like

(07:22):
utah was, a pain like watching those. Two play they
ran a. Strict program he also. Was physical he was
out there. Hurting guys this is a guy that's, six nine.
TWO fifty i used to compare his Build when lebron
was coming Out. To Lebron obviously lebron's, more skilled more
of a guard, like player but for a physical specimen like,
you know we joked around about you. Know him you

(07:44):
Probably remember meilman as a, bald guy but he had that,
texturizer curl you KNOW what, i mean and he did
his thing and on. This, level man he was just
so good man when you really think, about it he was.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Blessed man his jeans just like, they said that body
like he probably didn't even lift and he had that
body just. Just strong But the mailman another nickname, That's,
iconic uh just pure strengthen playing in that pick and
Roll With john stockton like. He was i'm not saying
he was a product of, that system but. He was
he's synonymous With That jerry. Sloan, offense right pick, and

(08:18):
roll get to, your spots, uh pick slide in that
slot at, the elbow knock down the fifteen. Foot jumper
maybe one of the best of all time with the jab,
up there with like kind of Like That tim duncan
kind of game where you're getting that getting that, pocket
jab get to, the rim or shoot that fifteen footer
that you're gonna knock down. Every, TIME so, i mean just,

(08:39):
the longevity, staying healthy playing eighty two games, every year
and then obviously ended up with the with the stats and,
the numbers he didn't throughout his career one of the.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
Statistically one of the.

Speaker 1 (08:52):
Best ever now people will argue about his doing his
stats matchup to the actual player he was historically because
like he there's some critics who say he didn't show
up in big games and wilted in, the fire that's
why he didn't Win big he ever win, A CHAMPIONSHIP but,
i mean when you look at the numbers, looking back, it's,
like man is he one of the?

Speaker 2 (09:11):
Best, Ever yeah and this is a.

Speaker 3 (09:13):
Very individual, driven, era right, you know you look at,
the stats it's a respect Of like iron team up with.
THIS guy i was trying To. BEAT mike i was
trying to beat the magics of. THE world i was
trying to beat. The birds and, you know you look.
At it if he, wins one how do we talk?
About him you KNOW what i mean in? This space
you KNOW what, i mean, because Like obviously dirk gets lifted,

(09:36):
over him, you know the kg's of the world gets lifted.
Over him, but individually when you look at, the stats
it's like man like, you know like Him and barkley
are two of the most decorated guys to not. Win
one and obviously they fall down the ladder because they
never pop the Champagne.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
In june and that's that's the that's the did he
not play?

Speaker 2 (10:02):
As well?

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Done it and when It meant madden most in the
playoffs in. The finals is that why he didn't win?

Speaker 2 (10:07):
A ring you Know what?

Speaker 1 (10:08):
I'm saying what was he the county like the county
stats a regular season it's a regular, season thing right
he went he got when he went up to head
to Had. With chuck MJ's teams couldn't get. It done
so he.

Speaker 3 (10:21):
His way he is. A, history yeah absolutely. All right,
next guy very pivotal and a LOT of nba. Championship
Teams Dennis rodman Hall, of famer five, time champion Two
Time defensive player Of, the year Eight Time, all defensive
Two Time, all star which is, very shocking seven time.
REBOUND champion, i, mean overall this guy is the perfect
person you would ask to be on. A team You're

(10:43):
Seeing dennis rodmin's stats and you see one shot at
temp twenty, two rebounds you KNOW what. I mean like
being asked to his Role, in detroit he did a
little bit more on the offensive end the things that
he was asked to do on scoring when he Got.
To chicago very effective of just, you, know defending frustrating the,
offensive player getting, the rebounds, adding style flair to, the

(11:06):
rebound style points to, the rebound you KNOW what. I
mean like he's no longer grabbing it just up there
just to casually. Grab it he's kicking his leg up,
in there, he's diving he's making the rebound fun and
and and probably just one of the just most popular
guys that you've seen Close To, michael jordan you KNOW what?
I mean on and off.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
The court that's saying a lot because he wasn't like,
you said he didn't put the ball on the hole
like he wont. To score he was a defender. And
rebounder it was he carved out his. OWN lane i
remember being a youngster just when He put when you
think Of The dennis robin and the star he was and, growing.

Speaker 2 (11:40):
Up like how did he?

Speaker 1 (11:41):
Do it like how that would never be anybody like?
That today a garbage man being, the best one of
the best rebounds in the league and you're a.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Household name that's.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
THAT'S great i think that's pretty that's pretty crazy when
you think about someone who was paid, To, rebound, yeah
right not, to score guard.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
AND rebound i mean.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
He did he, did defense he did he basically. Did
defend but at the end of, the day you look,
at hey this dude is probably one of the most
popular players in the league and he doesn't score. Twenty,
points again, that's like that's. That's INSANE like i don't
know if there is going like in, Y'ALL era i

(12:22):
don't see anybody. Doing that that the capability of a
flair to BE like i won't be. Like him i'm
gonna get signature shoe.

Speaker 1 (12:32):
OFF rebounded i can't think of anybody in the history
of a. ROCK star i don't think anybody in the
league that could say they. Did that like you either
one of, the best you gotta be one of the best.
Point guards we're racking, like playmaking or one of the
best scorers to be a. Household name like.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
Where does he rank for you as most influential players in?
The game.

Speaker 2 (13:01):
He, Up there he up there with.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
The, right, yeah absolutely because in the nineties where you've,
seen him he's really some of the people, Like you
you were paying attention to his off the court antics.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
Like you you Know what. I'm saying he was Like a.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Hollywood star people watching him coming in and out, of
restaurants in and out. Of clubs you were tapping into
who he was dating at, the time like he was
a he was a.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
Superstar, Man.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
Yeah that's that's just crazy to just, think ABOUT because
i think, about obviously My Think michael jordan obviously, number
one and then a lot of People Throw alan iris
in there. And there you can say, your brother you Can,
say kobe you Can Say, Lebron james, BUT like i
just think that's something Special About. Dennis rodman that kind
of catapults him up to.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
The time how much did it have to do with
who he was the team he was, on too that
everybody's paying to.

Speaker 3 (13:53):
The, bulls yeah because it really Started In, san, antonio
right which is kind of crazy as a as a.
NO tolerance i don't Think. SANT antoino i don't even
consider it no Tolerance because pop is very flexible as
far as allowing his guys to do what they need.
To do but it took off when he Got, to,
chicago right and just him being the first player documented with,

(14:17):
a tattoo which. Is crazy he dyes, his hair you
KNOW what, I mean like he's he's just breaking the.
Social norm And Then alan iverson obviously is the next
player to, you know take it to another level of
hip HOP. Meets nba but like you, think about he's
an alien in, this Era Like, michael jordan, clean cut,

(14:40):
no tats maybe. Baggy shorts most thing that he the
most dirtiest thing he could do is have on court.
After altercation obviously some gambling lower but like it didn't
stick to his like it didn't muddy up his name
enough for him to, be like, oh man That Guy's But,
dennis robin Him And charles barkley had like the bad,

(15:01):
guy image.

Speaker 2 (15:02):
You know correct Me if.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
I'm, wrong literally obviously white culture rock with him right like.

Speaker 2 (15:08):
He was he had that.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
Dirty overly so he's so.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
If it was twenty, TWENTY six i don't know if
his basketball play would, be paraded but his off the
court stuff would be the most viral thing you. Would
see showing up, marrying yourself, nude polls disappearing from, the
team wrestling during. The season how was it?

Speaker 2 (15:38):
Getting away you Know what? I'm saying that seemed Like.

Speaker 3 (15:41):
ANTI david i just think that he was. Being penalized
but it wasn't to like the team. Was Handled phil
jackson would, BE like i got it, under control you
KNOW what, I mean like it wasn't. Getting out it was. A,
Leaks Oh dennis robbin, Mispracticed Today this rodman showed up
to he misshoot around because he Was. In vegas someone

(16:04):
spotted him and things of That nick but he would
be at.

Speaker 2 (16:07):
Play hard he would be at.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
The game.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
He hard THAT'S that, ai mentality that's.

Speaker 1 (16:11):
That nineties it's kind of like that nineties TO the,
Ai Mentality like, i'm gonna, YOU know ai gonna, go out,
he gonna he's gonna come, to practice but he ain't gonna.
Go hard but when that game, time come he gonna
play every night and he gonna and he's gonna.

Speaker 3 (16:24):
Play hard If the bulls don't win, a title they
lose To, the sonics they lose To. The jazz we're having.

Speaker 1 (16:32):
TO do i got a controversial tape. On that, on
this we're talking, yesterday's culture that nineties. To today's you
see all. The people you see all the content, of
people their. Workout habits right in the. Off season you
see all the content with, their trainer put in work in,
the gym working on, their skills taking care of. Their

(16:55):
bodies i'm not. Doing nothing i'm doing everything to. Get
ready but they an't coming.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
In season.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
Games aren't. As Importantly oh I'm arrest i'm gonna work
out and play pickup. All summer but when it really
matters that. A two you come in at game fifty
five of, the, SEASON like i don't mean, As much.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
I'm, arrested yeah the table's kind of flipped. The, TABLE.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
Yeah i, MEAN again i try to be very MINDFUL
because i just didn't make it TO, the NBA and
i try not to speak out a turn and be
like so CRITICAL because i, you know, you know you
spend time in the. Training room you understand how. Guys are,
you know you, get it you know what's really, Going
on and in THOSE situations i look at it's interesting, to,

(17:42):
SAY yo i love this right and how, you PREPARE
and i just think that it's so much money involved
now to a point or a feel of a, guaranteed
job that it JUST doesn't i don't have to. Do
that as LONG as i can, GET here i just,
you know like it's like passing. The class let me

(18:03):
get seventy. Three PERCENT if i can get, you know
Like if i'm still, Gonna graduate i'm, you know and
that's making. The playoffs that's, basically, Like hey i'm still.
Gonna graduate i'm gonna make it to, the playoffs And
then i'll show. Up here and it's like those shortcuts that,
you took those games that, you missed the lack of,
team chemistry the time off to get your true rhythm
with certain guys on, the floor it Shows in may

(18:26):
and like the teams that really win are the most.
Healthy matters the guys that had to stay ready and
be in because they're gonna win a game. Or two,
for you the eleventh man gonna go off and have
twenty six points and you're, JUST like i expect him to.
Do that but he got them reps because a guy
may have been out maybe a six, game stint and

(18:48):
he got that, confidence like oh they let, me rock, all?
Right cool SO now i can rely on him in,
this moment you KNOW what? I mean because the confidence.
Is THERE and i just think the teams that aren't
really good always have. An excuse they always like cover
for certain players to not get to. That LEVEL like,
I love i like Watching, the LAKERS but i just

(19:09):
think that it's so hard to say that they're gonna.
Win it, you know we have a friend that's constantly
they're gonna win it all this year before and we
see the jig because again it's, ALL right i already looked.
At it lebron showed up to camp not ready. To,
play right. He's hurt you you dealt with a. Similar

(19:31):
injury decided to, good stuff you KNOW what? I mean
you understand what he's. Dealt with he had to. Ramp
up it took almost two months to even get into.
That thing now he's playing at a. High level but
you got other guys You're Losing, austin reeves, you like
because guys have to overcompensate the things that ain't There
for lebron to be There, or luca and you can't.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
Overcome that it just you.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
Can't overcome, you can't no matter what you say, they
got they got a certain amount. Of talent but to,
be honest whoever's good in the regular season is has
the best chance of winning the playoffs. No matter like,
you know you don't all of a sudden turn, It.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
OFF like, I like I, LIKE detroit. I don't i know,
they're young if they can Get A chris middleton out of,
a buyout if they can add another vet they've, been
AGAIN like i don't think they win, it ALL but
i just think that they make.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
A chance but but they if you wanted to.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
And, they are, they're available and they have guys that
know their role like That it's Danniss, J yeah dennis
like like, He hungry like you can't be, A PLAYER so.
I don't i don't know what else to. Tell you
when you got guys, like that like they're on the
pace to. Win sixty you who would who would have

(20:48):
said that if somebody came in, and said You're, the
pistons go, Win sixty i'm gonna be looking at you like.
You're crazy they're proving it so the same way how people.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
Had doubts nobody, believe it even. To me, i'm like
they got you got to show me in. The playoffs
they got to show me in. The, playoffs Yeah they
you don't believe until they do it and make it
back To.

Speaker 3 (21:11):
The bulls and we get back To, The bulls michael playing.
Eighty two scotty may have missed a couple of games
with the migraine and things. Of, that Next but dennis rob,
is available and he's, also accountable you KNOW what. I mean, He,
SHARES hey i remember being such and Such. With michael
HE knew i. MESSED up i went straight to his
hotel room asking for, a Cigar and, michael's, Like oh dennis,

(21:33):
never apologizes but he lets me know that. He's accountable
that's how it. Was accountability he came to. My room
Nobody Bothers michael jordan on, the Road And dennis robin
comes to this room to smoke, a cigar no words,
being said and they're going to win, A CHAMPIONSHIP like
i don't. Even, KNOW again i don't want to speak out.
Of turn where's the accountability at this in? This era

(21:55):
can you call out a guy and a guy doesn't
get like but Hurt, ABOUT hey i ain't.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
Playing it that takes. Me down that takes me down
a whole nother.

Speaker 1 (22:03):
Rabbit hole with social media and inside of linking information,
too much now it's gone to the point you can't
do certain things because you know it's and somehow sham's
gonna get ahold. Of it it's gonna get out and
it's gonna get aggregating fans going run.

Speaker 2 (22:20):
With it back then and it's a. Character hit then
it was, like stories it.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
Was rumors but you ain't know if for, a FACT
if Mj Slapped, steve kurr well you. Don't know and that's,
you know you don't know half THE stuff mj did
to hold his team accountable behind, closed doors you Know what,
I'm saying, because.

Speaker 3 (22:39):
Yeah, different yeah it's just a, different time, all, right yeah.
All Right Chris Webber weber Hall, of famer Five Time,
all star Five TIME all nba Ninety four rookie Of.
THE year i mean he hit the. Ground running you
know a lot of people that came up after six
years later down the line All say web was their
favorite player twenty ten. And four could, handle rock could do,

(23:01):
those things you KNOW what. I Mean, left michigan Got To,
golden state ended up getting, you know Moved. To washington
just one of those type of things of just like
finally making his way to, You. Know Sacramento but web
was one of those guys that kind of was penalized
for playing power forward if he's a. Small forward we

(23:22):
talked about him. WAY differently i just think that it
was so competitive and that spot so locked in such
like a like like like it's almost you know how
it is With the allstar boat and, it's, like yo that,
come on like nobody he used his.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
New age he was on a.

Speaker 1 (23:38):
Younger guy, He played he played the position a, different
way so he had more of A skill he was,
a banger but he had more of a. Skill set
so he could you can run the office doing at
the top of. The key he, can handle he, could
pass he could push. The rocket he had a little
flair to. His game so it like it was it
was a. Different mold like we. We've talked all the

(23:59):
power we talked about have been, those bruisers bangers and
forcers doing it all. With physicality when he was coming
in with a neess.

Speaker 2 (24:08):
Is different.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
It's different and then on top, of that he was
the prodigy like, high, school college.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
Well just even just even the next the. NEXT decade
i felt like he still took a hit because There's
the duncans.

Speaker 1 (24:20):
You think he was now you think he don't live
up to the to the expectations he was supposed to
be better than he.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
Actually, WAS no i.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
DON'T think i don't even honestly. THINK that i just
think that guys would just they had. BETTER teams i
think he probably was asked to do a little bit
more than. Other, GUYS like, i mean he was willing sacked.

Speaker 2 (24:38):
To, those situations.

Speaker 3 (24:40):
Were running up Against those lakers squads and things of.
That nature but like when you Come To all, star voting, it's,
like damn How way i'm. Not starting he got, the
numbers but, it's, like dude don't Even Bother tim duncan, got,
That okay and then you got to face the you
Know what, I'm SAYING like i feel like if he's a,
small forward were talking about him, As.

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Well so are you saying, He, WAS oh i played
In the, jordan era played In The, lebron no you
just you just not Better than you're not getting accolades over.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
These guys you're not because it's so it's just.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
Not happening, You're gonna you're gonna always no matter what your.
Numbers ARE and i just think he gets UNDER like.
I haven't twenty ten. And four that's that's just solid.
A lock that's. A lock and for you to go
to be a role guy on the On The all,
STAR team i just that just lets you know that
there was some real bum at that, four spot like

(25:36):
you're not moving and you got guys doing You know
malone probably twenty five. A game you Know what. I'm saying,
but that but that that with the power, FORWARD thing i,
will say rebounds was, always there, always there nine in
a BUM like i don't see nobody that played that
position that didn't. Rebound high and now a lot of

(25:57):
guys are fancy are outside and this winning six rebounds.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
Forward Is A wayne, now, like yeah you gotta stand up.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Definitely corner you might be a, corner boy and then you. Died,
later yeah.

Speaker 1 (26:09):
You gotta stand outside that three point line, on offense
and then you guarded it on the same thing on
The other that's why the rebounds because you guarded somebody
that's standing, out. There, right, so yeah the centers are
scooping up.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
All, them, yeah no that's. That's real and some sometimes
you got the guards trying to make their. Own, stats
hey move out, the way it's mine all. Right here
you're The Man, horse grants FOUR Time, nba champion Four Time,
all defensive One Time. All star you know again that

(26:42):
One Time all star should not it should be glowing
because what, he was how pivotal, he was especially the
first part of the. Three peat but also, you know
going and playing With the lakers later on down in
his career as playing for one of the greatest teams
ever assembled in two thousand And, One Lakers horace grant
was such a defensive guru for. The team but also

(27:06):
You Mentioned michael jordan challenging these guys and they had
a tift and they fixed it, And whatnot and you
know a lot Of those bulls teammates talk About how
michael just wasn't the only person this was a. Team
thing absolutely was a. Team thing but you Go, to
orlando y'all don't finish. The Deal Like michael jordan's main
skill is will. To victory get. Him there He's Like

(27:29):
tom brady, to me like get, him there just give him.
An Opportunity tom brady might finish with one hundred and,
twelve yards but you know that two. Minute, warning hey
he about to go down that two. Minute drill he about.
To Score michael, JORDAN'S listen i bout, to. Struggle y'all
just get, it close, get it get me, to Six
and i'm gonna win.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
This byke, of course there's another one. Of those he's
anonymous with a system.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Like that.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
The triangle yeah. He, was yeah and he was just
a roll guy you. Could play you can run the
offense through him at. The elbow one of the best
fifteen foot jump shooters in the league at. The time
AND then i mean he had he was kind of
like the. He was he had all he had the
physicality defense where he give you a. Double double but

(28:13):
also like HE like, i said he knew the triangle
like the back of.

Speaker 2 (28:17):
His hand and then he like when, if YOU like,
i said if you have fifteen foot.

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Jump shooter you create space for the drivers on team
like the Like the stretch three and d guys. Do
now so he was creating lanes being able to knock down.
That midie he was creating Lanes for SCOTTI and mj
to get to the rack. AND finish I think i
underrated in the grand scheme of the nineties players, in
general but definitely. Power forward he was one of the

(28:45):
most underrated to me because when he went over the
first he was he was great on those those young
magic teams right then went over To The, bulls contender,
won championships same thing Going The, lakers contender like he
he was kind of one of those missing pieces to
where oh we, got him now we can still we can.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
Still, win.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
Yeah and it's actually. Flip flop he won the. First,
three Okay Goes michael, jordan retires and then, he goes
did He?

Speaker 2 (29:18):
Follow robin and, oh yeah so? He followed was He?
Before Robin? After robin he? Was?

Speaker 3 (29:25):
Before, oh okay the idea was he already was kind
of feeling the type of way they didn't really want to.
Pay him, you know hopefully we can get horse on
to tell. His story but they didn't want to. Pay
him and then also there was a tift between Him
and jordan and it was one of those. Replaceable things
And the bulls did what. They did they got them,

(29:46):
another defensive rebounding power forward and. Still won but during
the time when mikeel retired and the time he comes
back from school And the magic, beat them he Became
a this is a crazy part. About it he became.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
Awestin, that year you KNOW what, I, mean, like Yeah,
in scotti we're. Getting too it was, like, yeah yeah and.

Speaker 3 (30:11):
Like that that's the thing when you really think about
he was really trying to prove, his worth, like Hey we,
I'm big we we more Than.

Speaker 2 (30:18):
Just, mike yeah and he.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
Did this they, WERE saying i can, scale up we
Can still yeah they still, a contender a really.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
Good, team, yeah, Yeah absolutely so you know that's the big.
What if but Respect to Horse grant man and his contributions,
To championships LIKE when i think Of HORSE grant i
think of winning straight up, just winning you KNOW what.
I mean you want a player that's gonna come in
like again that late in his career to help the,
you Know the lakers lock down in their Second title,

(30:49):
it's like, all, RIGHT man i. GET it i see why.
They win. Got, You uh this, next, player man, very
dynamic came Out Of Juco, sean kip Six Time, all
star Three TIME all nba Player. From indiana you know,
his moves Man Like gary pagon was the perfect point guard.
For him just. Got. It man they pick, and roll,

(31:11):
you know like they, they really, you know just one
of one of those one of those kinds. Of things
man Where. Camp man, YOU know i see all the
all the old posters of him posing sixteen Doing that
man sixteen just flying like he was so fun and
dune CONTESTS and i, don't know, you know you, probably
was you're old enough to see, the CLIP but i

(31:31):
remember seeing it in a real time when he'd Done
something chris gatling and he points at Them and i'm, just,
like yo you KNOW what, I mean like this. Is
crazy and then he had his own Shoe and Rebark
the kamakazi and you know the nickname The. Rain Man.
In seattle it just was just HIM. And gp and
then when they finally faced off with, the bulls, You
Know dennis rodman just really just stood in.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
Their.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
Way Man but kemp was Giving the Bulls.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
The blues this IS when i wish we had one
of those guys from the nineties ON so i could,
ask him like the difference in playing against one of
those ground level power forwards that were more physical and
these athletic high flyers started to come into the league,
Like HIM so, i mean, he WAS like, i say
he was MADE.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
For tv no bad. Lib either you could just throw it, up.

Speaker 1 (32:18):
Here just athletic could run, the transition running, the. Floor
finishing i'm sure it's a different element playing, against HIM like,
i said and then the.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
Real bruisers and even.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
Though he couldn't he really shoot it, like that but.
HE could, i mean if you gave him a, running
start he was gonna finish at The m so you.
Had to you couldn't just back all the way up off.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Of, them, yeah. Yeah man and you know obviously Went
to cleveland and bounced around, after. That man But that
seattle time was, very, Special man and to this day
people still talk. About it?

Speaker 2 (32:53):
What's, dope yeah?

Speaker 1 (32:54):
What's dope with all, these guys like a lot of
them go hand. In hand you can't talk about them
with talking about their point guard that they. Played, WITH
yeah I got Carling, and stockton you Got uh chuck
and and who was who was he With On Kevin, Johnson,
Kevin Yeah kevin johnson And obviously Kemp And peyton and

(33:16):
it's just that's that dope two man game.

Speaker 2 (33:20):
That was that was like kind of a.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
Nineties, THING yeah, i mean speaking of two, Man Games
kenny Anderson And derreck Cochen And, derrick coleman One Time,
all star Two TIME all nba nineteen Ninety one rookie Of,
the year another guy that was a twenty, ten guy
you KNOW what. I mean space the floor could shoot
to go between, your chest you KNOW what. I mean
he ended up having a severe ankle injury in ninety

(33:41):
five ninety. Six, Season man but you know it got to, a,
point man he got a chance to almost play for
his hometown and they just. Played him so he kind
of chilled man you Know. From, detroit man but Him And,
steve smith those guys all from, you know from that
area and just just one of the, nicest man coldest.
Touch man but love is man.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
Just left he just, pretty game, Just SMOOTH and i
think some of that might have been to, A detriment
like a lot of people played in the eras, they
wanted maybe the most talented player they. Played against but
he was a little lack of days cool then ad
a edge that you needed back in the day to
go toe to toe with. Some PEOPLE but i used
to love watching them who because, he could he, Could

(34:22):
who he had all, the skills he could.

Speaker 2 (34:24):
Shoot, the ball playing.

Speaker 1 (34:26):
THE post, i MEAN like, i said that's why many
people when he came out were saying he's one of
the he gonna be one of, the ones because he's skilled,
and size and it was just about staying focused and
trying to live up to that potential so many people.

Speaker 3 (34:39):
Have, ON yeah i think he's. Definitely misunderstood he definitely
is going to be one of my one of. My candidates, oh, Okay,
OKAY yeah I mean I just i just look, at
it like again saying somebody's not physical or approaching the
game blacks of, Days AGO like i think he would
cook in this error just because that some of that

(34:59):
stuff just don't need to be applied versus like you
literally got for the word power as. A forward it
needed to, be toughness it needed to be in, the
paint it needed to be physical or you just like you,
ain't it you KNOW what? I, mean like AND like,
i said it's heavy comp, man like he's playing in a.
Different area he's more than a One Time, all star
man because it's hard to get twenty and Ten, man

(35:23):
like that's not that's not something that you just walk up.
And do and he did it. So often but it
was so competitive on the block that guys just really
either Sniffed The All star game one time and, you
know AND and I think i didn't mind This Last all,
star GAME but i Think The All star game was
just really he's the best twenty four players in, the

(35:44):
LEAGUE and i got to prove IT because i got.
CONTRACT extensions i want. To win they talking trash, to
me and it's a sign, Of RESPECT like i get in,
This room, i'm here like, all. Right COOL and i
just think that people still, feel like, all right, You
know I'm An, All STAR but i just don't think
it holds the weight that, it should you KNOW what.

(36:05):
I MEAN like i Like That anthony EDWARDS, won mvp
but every year you should be able to be, like
yo ALL certa mvp comes OFF as i got the
hoop with the best Players and i'm taking IT and
i just don't feel like nobody really wanted To BE
like i. Outplayed everybody it's like You got luca and
yolkis playing six minutes and, it's whatever it's a fluff game,

(36:27):
versus Like now i'm using this as momentum that everybody
else getting time Off and.

Speaker 2 (36:32):
I've seen my game when we got. That, mentality man
he got the lack of. Or not he got. That
mentality every time he stepped on, the floor he.

Speaker 3 (36:40):
Got it he always end up on the losing, end
though that's the. Only thing EVERY time i, see him he,
play hard but his team let, him Down and, i'm like, you, know,
like man you put on a, hard, performance bravo but
y'all got you gotta find a way to. Win it,
it's not it's not a one, player game but it
just makes the stories weirder when it's like you figured

(37:01):
it out and you will with this team, to victory
and now you're adding a care. To it but also
you got other players like he's, seven four like man
had why are you? Doing that like it's just it's
just a, different. Thing man and THAT'S what i Like about,
moby though cause he, don't yeah.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
He don't he don't care when nobody.

Speaker 1 (37:19):
Out there think, about him whether he don't care about,
Looking corny he don't want.

Speaker 2 (37:25):
Their approval he doing what. He's doing he.

Speaker 1 (37:27):
Confident himself that's what it seemed like. To me so
he might bring it in. A, WAY hey i.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
Like. It man if you're making me anybody that, play
hard you're gonna get my hard. ON money i want
to see, you play you KNOW what, I, MEAN like
i know, you competing. Like dang anytime we can say
this feels like a, playoff game that means it's money
well spent or time. Well spent because if the intensity,
is there THAT means i really wanted to win, this

(37:55):
game even if it only counted as one win or.

Speaker 2 (37:58):
One loss for love, it again that's this button.

Speaker 3 (38:01):
Hoops, man, yeah everybody that's why y'all do.

Speaker 2 (38:04):
Everybody's, paid yeah it's another element. To, this yeah.

Speaker 3 (38:08):
All Right, larry johnson Two Time, all star Ninety two
rookie Of, the year a lot of These guys rookie Of,
the years a lot of, these guys first and Second Time,
all stars One TIME All. NBA grandmama i think it's
still funny that he didn't want to. Do that but
again six seven known as a. Power guy you would
think he. Was sixteen how, he played you KNOW what,
i mean like you think he's, way bigger a lot

(38:29):
another guy would force on, the rim but. Also finesse,
you know his back was, messed up so he developed
a three, point shot played away from the basket a little.
Bit more but that, early on you know he played
with your Pops.

Speaker 2 (38:39):
And, charlotte yeah he had the city.

Speaker 3 (38:41):
On fire one of the greatest, jerseys ever you Know
what i'm saying That.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
And lonzo morning Coming into charlotte had the city. On
fire they put that organization on. The map it was
like the cool young team at. The time and he
had flail like. He could he kind of that physical
point four where HE was i, mean strong just the
chill little. BODY think, I mean i would think like
an in shape when you think if you've never seen

(39:09):
them play like an, in Shape healthy zion. Type body yeahously.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
He Ain't doing he.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
Was athletic he, was athletic but hein he Went that
zion athletic but lefty like that and just that's if
that's who you want To picture zion in the.

Speaker 3 (39:24):
Nineties type he's another, influential guy sneakily influenzal like the
part in, the middle the gold Tooth, represent dallas JUST
like i had it BRO because.

Speaker 1 (39:38):
I love, auto commercials especially growing Up in CHARLOTTE being.
I was you see him ON the tv all the
time and. Aullto commercials but just, the end that's one
of those tough stories where he had the back injuries
that that walked.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
Him down that's probably one of the most underrated injuries IN.
THE nba a lot of guys have forced been forced
to retire off a back injury because you can move
how you need. To move you just shelley yourself man.

Speaker 1 (40:04):
At all and it's, Mental, too, like, Yeah back i'm
going through it that like you got you you don't move,
the same so you gotta you gotta train. Your body
you can do the stuff you, once did and like
that pain is so bad and in, your back you
don't want to feel, that again so everything you do.
Is hesitant, BUT yeah, i Mean that's i'm going off with.

(40:26):
The tangent let's.

Speaker 2 (40:27):
MOVE on i.

Speaker 3 (40:28):
GET it i get it. All Right, vin baker Four Time,
all star Two TIME all, Nba player you KNOW what?
I mean put in. The work, you know he definitely
was one of those players that was skilled, six nine,
nice touch you can get to, the basket, you know do, his.
Thing man and, you know the shock Four time all

(40:50):
start is still shocking to ME because, I understand I
knew i watched him do his Thing, in MILWAUKEE but
i just didn't think he got Four Time, All STAR like, I.

Speaker 2 (40:58):
Remember i can.

Speaker 3 (40:59):
See, it look he had a scene Shoot with jordan's
you KNOW what i mean.

Speaker 2 (41:03):
Thinking about, THE era, i mean he, was, cold man he.

Speaker 1 (41:07):
WAS colder i kind of remember him most As a,
milwaukee buck you doing.

Speaker 2 (41:11):
His thing.

Speaker 1 (41:14):
He just like this this powerful position was so deep in,
The nineties like these people kind of get pushed Four Time, all,
star uh two TIMES ll nba and you DON'T really, i,
think kids you don't even remember them or know much.
About him like that's how deep the era was and
so top heavy with all time Greats and hall.

Speaker 2 (41:35):
Of famers that's like these.

Speaker 1 (41:38):
People who if you're a Four Time all star and
a TWO time nba guy now in, the league, you
are you're.

Speaker 2 (41:46):
A star you're out.

Speaker 1 (41:47):
Of here, but yeah, back then, it's, like oh he
was a, Good player like you Know what.

Speaker 3 (41:51):
I'm SAYING and I think i think he has the
respect of, his peers you Know what i'm saying to
a point, of, like yo that as they would say
that boy, was bad or he put, in work or
he was really, liked that or he could, do this
he could, do that or he was, a terror because
like those are the, things, that again you could say
about your peers when you really face off with him
and it's just a regular night and we might, be,
like man, all right and, you're, like nah he he really,

(42:14):
can go you KNOW what. I MEAN and i think
that's Like A ben baker situation where yes he was
a fort he wasn't a Ten Time all star or anything.
Like THAT but i think anytime you can Become An,
all star that's the. One respect if you can become
a Multi Time, all star like this guy is a
Four Time all star and Two TIME, All, nba like
no matter what he does in the rest of, his
life like that's just an honorable thing. To, Be, like yo.

(42:39):
Respect respect you get the respect when you walk in
the room from your peers from the rest of, your
life you KNOW what, i mean, whether injuries cutted or
there's something else that just kind of didn't. Pan out
when you get to, that level you can you can
really take your hat off and talk your talk. Your
trash this, Next Player. Danny Manning, MANNING man I. Remember
Danny danny manning is one. Of those the fact that

(43:01):
he still managed to become a Two Time all Star
Game gamy man kept tearing up, his knee you KNOW what,
I mean and he always was the guy that was
supposed to Save.

Speaker 1 (43:09):
The, clippers, LIKE yeah i won't say he didn't live
up to the bill because he had, his injuries but
growing Up In north Carolina acc tobacco roll like. He
was he's most known there as a, College guy, like
yeah it's one of the best college players ever.

Speaker 2 (43:25):
And just wasn't like that in. The league, but yeah
still Two Time, all.

Speaker 1 (43:29):
Star respectable, but yeah the fact that he was supposed
to be so much more the fact that he got.

Speaker 3 (43:33):
Hurt and was still trying to do. The thing that's
when they was wearing them leather. Knee braces he had
leather knee brads With, the CLIPPERS and i, just, Like
Yo Danny manning MAN like i don't know this The,
year nope he hurt again and he's like dang man
like because, you know like you look at, star players
right you, you know like your father In law doc.

(43:55):
Played there you had guys Like like lloyd vaugh you
KNOW what, I mean like just try. The hair you're
look at big and you, just, like okay Is the
clippers actually gonna? Get Somebody And danny manning was the guy,
that like oh they. Drafted Well ron harper was another
guy that got there late after After the cavs and

(44:15):
kind of tried to do a. Little Thing But danny
manning was the guy that, you, like Hey the clippers
are not gonna be a laughing stock. This year they're
gonna be. Taken seriously he's going to get them to.
The playoffs he's gonna. Play hard and the fact that
he was able to steal part like he reminded Me Respected.
Danny manning but you Know How sean livingston was drafted

(44:37):
high and then he still managed to. Win championships THAT'S
how i feel was the long term Success For danny
manning to become a Two Time.

Speaker 2 (44:47):
All star like it was way saying like he was
he was supposed to be.

Speaker 1 (44:50):
A star he had, the injuries but did what they
had to do to carve himself out a, long, career
YES which i respect. A lot i respect the a
lot because some people don't know how to do it
or are willing to.

Speaker 3 (45:03):
Do it they wrote him off many times with the
knee injuries because it was one of those back then,
it's it you KNOW what, i mean he would. Come
back and then the fact that he came back one
lad like his last little stint With the suns to
get The six men Of the year, like late it's
like he, won't stop you Know what, i'm saying even
though he should have been out, The league like it, was,

(45:24):
like man it's. A tragedy keep. Getting hurt that's how
that's how they used to be talking.

Speaker 1 (45:28):
About, him yeah you got to think back in the
back the this ain't today like where you have killy acls,
like oh this ain't a career in, It anymore like
this is, just yeah, the injury w'd be back in
eight to.

Speaker 2 (45:40):
Twelve months, back then.

Speaker 1 (45:42):
You you have a you Know what, i'm saying mcl
something that might be. A rap come the medicine ain't.

Speaker 2 (45:48):
The same it might be. A rap so you really
got to fight to.

Speaker 3 (45:50):
Get back you see him in a suit he was
in a suit more than you know how They teas
Kawhi And Anthony anthony Davis Is danny manning minus, The
championships like you Know what, I'm saying like dog just kept.
Getting hurt he was, nice though like, really nice but
he'd just be like dang man he down again right
when he be getting. It going they may might be

(46:11):
averaging a dub like twenty two hurt out for the
season in, a suit you Know what, I'm, saying like
that's how Being a clipper, Fan WAS like i used
to see people like dang dude and they.

Speaker 2 (46:24):
Played you know that was the beginning Of a. Clipper,
curse yes but that's what they.

Speaker 3 (46:29):
Dubbed it like if he they used, to Say If
danny manning was drafted somewhere else, His career Same With,
sam Bowie If sam boy wasn't drafted To, the blazers
this would. Have, happened, yeah yeah you KNOW what. I,
mean lastly the last player we're gonna talk About Is
Kevin willis Man One all Star Appearance kevin wood has

(46:50):
played Before Bron kevin WOODS played i think like twenty.
One seasons he was.

Speaker 1 (46:55):
Forty, four yeah he retired at. Forty four he played
with my dad in. TWO thousand i was in two
thousand and One. IN toronto i remember him as an.

Speaker 2 (47:03):
Old head like he was old dead my.

Speaker 1 (47:06):
Dad was that was by my dad's. Fifteenth year he
was he was, six five six years Older.

Speaker 2 (47:13):
Than pops like he had an old.

Speaker 1 (47:16):
School suits he Was Taking vince carter and the young
boys to. GET suits i remember.

Speaker 3 (47:20):
He had been there lots of good nugget that you.
Talked About So kevin wells had that he was.

Speaker 2 (47:26):
Innovator, this, Yeah yeah i'm kind of view him as.
A center i, don't, know.

Speaker 3 (47:31):
Yeah he is a maybe. Later center he would. LINE
up I mean atlanta had a. Weird team they Would Start.
John Contact john contact was like one of, those, like
oh we're gonna go. Double big, That's, right yeah we're
gonna go. Double big so we're Gonna. Go nick we're Gonna.
Go nick Kevin Willis, john, contact right and you're like

(47:51):
old this front court. Heavy Cool john concack would do
his little thing, seven rebounds, eight points, right.

Speaker 1 (47:58):
BIG and i CAN when I Think kevin will you
talk about the leather, knee pass the, elbow pass.

Speaker 3 (48:05):
Elbow slid but his main thing was. His physique he
did nothing but Boxep Cut.

Speaker 1 (48:11):
Like atty at, forty two he would look the same
way bro, He was and as he, got older he
just got a little bit.

Speaker 3 (48:18):
More stiff so like the defensive slides was just like.
A switch he was giving. It up but he would
let you. Feel it and he still could board and
every once in, a while you KNOW what, I, mean
like think about this The One all star season, he
had he averaged eighteen.

Speaker 2 (48:35):
And fifteen let's getting, to it getting.

Speaker 3 (48:39):
TO it i ain't gonna Never Slander kevin willis the
Fact That kevin willis could put together eighteen. And, fifteen
actually this the season he wore. His jersey he wore.
His jersey Shouts To. Kevin. Willis man and on, that,
note man we're gonna take a quick break and we'll.
Come back we're gonna talk about our top five players of.

(49:00):
The nineties power, for me, All, right dot, we're. Back
man we went from great to One time, all start

(49:21):
a Two Time. All star we even talked TO. Current.
NBA man i think this is a, good episode a good,
you know good banter to get back. Into THINGS but
i really want to hear with your five that you
have for these greatest power, for us because you've been
GONE and i know you're about to check.

Speaker 2 (49:39):
The table let's, get. It man NUMBER five I Got.

Speaker 1 (49:43):
Horse Grant. Horse grant number five is the ultimate winner several.
DIFFERENT teams i don't think he was as talented as
the other guys on. My list THAT'S why i got him.
At five but NUMBER four.

Speaker 2 (49:56):
I Got. Chris Weber chris weber.

Speaker 1 (49:59):
AT four i just like watching, them play like he
reminds he kind, of, was honestly like it's a bonus,
To me like you can run the office, through them
pass all those type.

Speaker 2 (50:08):
OF things i just love.

Speaker 1 (50:09):
This GAME three I Got charles BARKLEY, m Hm Two dennis.

Speaker 2 (50:16):
Robin And One. Karl, MALONE okay, I think, I mean i.

Speaker 1 (50:19):
Know we talked about Earlier, with carl but, the longevity,
the stats what is he now three on the all
time scoring list? Or, whatever yep that's he's. Number, One hey.

Speaker 3 (50:35):
I'm not i'm not mad, at. That man i'm interested to,
you know when you when you say that and you
say the greatest power, FOR it I still I'm gonna
i'm gonna mix it up a, little bit but. It's
Close like i'm gonna have uh, you, Know Uh chris webber,
at five just because he was so young at that time,

(50:56):
and uh, you know his contributions were still trying to
get in there as as one of the contributors to.
The nineties, he, was man he was able to Make
An All, star game he was able to Win a
rookie Of, the year but not not enough to be
in the. Top Three So chris weber. At five, At
four i'm gonna go. With man i'm gonna actually Go With.

(51:20):
Ben baker, YOU know i was pretty Shocked With ben
baker being a Four Time, all STAR so i gotta
put a little bit more respect. On. Him man he
was really cooking up in. The, Nineties man so, YOU
know i really got a roll with that because that's
that's highly decorated when it comes to. That part, At
three I'm gonn i'm gonna align with you And Called,
dennis rodman uh, you know because he was, a winner,

(51:44):
YOU know, i mean probably one of the winning this
guys on, this list but he also was a role
guy and a star that didn't have, to score and
this list is very, scoring driven you KNOW what, I
mean so Respect, the dennis but he wasn't like the number,
one OPTION and I gotta i gotta give love to

(52:05):
the guy that the plays are actually. Ran for if
the shot, is missed they take all. The blame those
are the guys who rightfully deserve to sit in, the top,
you know one and Two spot, AT two i want
To Go. Carl malone carmelon has. The longevity carmelon Has The.
All Stars, Carl malone i'm interesting to See if carmelong

(52:27):
has a different career if he doesn't play With Stock
team stockton for. EIGHTEEN seasons i Think that stockton put
him in the. RIGHT positions I think stockton was very
valuable to his success even though both you know either
or they both needed each other or feel so he
reached that the. Same thing how people kind Of Challenge

(52:49):
tim duncan And. The spurs What Would tim duncan do Without?
The spurs does he win? The rings does he have
like thirty? Thousand? POINTS duncan i know, is NICE but
i just think that to, an extent there's a, What
IF and I Think carl malone creates the. What if
we got to see him With the lakers later on down,
the line but he, was injured he. Was old It's

(53:10):
just i'm just not gonna. COUNT that i just think
that he was just ring chasing at that point and really.
Wanted One And charles barkley has to be my number
one six fore just getting IT done mvp during, you
Know the. Jordan era carlmelong GOT an mvp During The jordan.
Eira two by, the Way which michael one of Those Is.
MICHAEL jordan i think they just got. Voted Fatigue But

(53:32):
michael jordan made them pay the, same Thing And michael
jordan made, them Pay made charles barklay. Them pay, but
Yeah If michael jordan isn't coming out in, The Nineties
charles barkley WINS multiple. NBA championships i. THINK that i truly.
BELIEVE that i think he was just that. Much better he, Was.
Dominant sir charles had, the shoes he had, the campaigns

(53:53):
he was getting, in trouble he was doing, his thing
probably one of the most. Unguardable players despite us looking
at his highlights, and say oh, That's nasty like they
couldn't get. With him he was a. Matchup nightmare whether
the paint outside he's shooting, AT three i don't think
he had any true quote unquote weaknesses outside of mental

(54:13):
you KNOW what. I mean there's a few, times where, you,
know basketball he, wanted it but he wanted it bad
and he actually was. A competitor he just didn't get.
It DONE and i Just think chuck is my number one.
For that Shouts To Sir.

Speaker 2 (54:27):
CHARLES list i.

Speaker 3 (54:29):
Like it, all right were gonna take a, quick break
but when we, come back we're going to talk about our.
Favorite topic born In The. Wrong era, All right.

Speaker 2 (54:52):
Doc's back.

Speaker 3 (54:54):
We done went through a bunch. Of players we picked our.
Top five now who would actually get buckets in this.
CURRENT era i think it's a bunch of players that
can fit in. This Mode but i'm truly curious of
who you're.

Speaker 1 (55:05):
Gonna choose i'm born in the wrong air today is
See what Chris webber man sixteen but with point guard skills,
so well with like, more space being able to just
put it in his hands and run. THE show i
like when, today's rules he he would, be fine he.
WOULD thrive i think That's why i'm so curious of

(55:28):
to See Like derek, queen's career because he give Me
Some chris webbervis, like okay like a point where he
feels like they are born to be point guards, kind
of but just just power for their size and their
body type makes him a power forward center type. Type
GUY but I think i think those two are comparable.

Speaker 2 (55:47):
TO me.

Speaker 3 (55:48):
I actually like that. COMP man I think queen just
got to have a little bit more. Foot speed but, he's,
definitely definitely, definitely skilled just Like see Web And yo
kitchen a couple other guys that can can make plays
with the ball WITHOUT again i, Mentioned earlier i'm just
gonna stick with It Man. DEREK coleman i Just Think

(56:09):
derek coleman Is getting he got punished for it in,
the nineties but he would be the guy twenty ten
just just abusing people using his body, you know whether
he has That brandon ingram, type energy you KNOW what,
I mean he's still gonna get out there and do,
his thing, you Know Because Brandon. Brandon INGRAM h i

(56:29):
see what. You're Saying he, you know if You're Watching,
brandan ingram are you watching his? Body language you don't
think he? Don't care?

Speaker 2 (56:36):
He, care yeah That's.

Speaker 1 (56:38):
That's i'm, hesitanus like because that stuff you, can't control
that's just.

Speaker 2 (56:43):
Control, mannerisms yeah more than his his state, of mind like,
he yeah he cared about. THE game i know.

Speaker 3 (56:51):
That fact it definitely put definitely putting the, work in
you Know what. I'm saying and you got actually pops
about how, you KNOW how dc, showed up you KNOW what,
i mean and how he contributed to. The game you
KNOW what. I mean i just think that in, certain,
ways man, you know it's Effectiveness, in philly just so many, different,

(57:11):
teams man that he just. Made IMPACT and i just
think that again him not just being the guy that
they wanted to shape. Him, out again that personality. Matter
too if you didn't, HAVE character i think that you
were going to struggle to Be An all star because you're,
just like it's. A business now everybody. Can be somebody
Can be The twelve men could have a vlog and,
you're like, all, right bro, like cool we ain't really

(57:34):
want to hear. About it but like during, that era
you had to package it, all up you KNOW what.
I mean Like Hearing larry johnson that he didn't really
want to Do The grandma market's kind of crazy now,
in retrospect like think About If derrick coleman did a
bunch of stuff that he didn't want to do just
to push his brand versus basketball and wasn't penalized. FOR
it i think he's much he's he's more paraded a little,

(57:56):
bit more you KNOW what, i mean he's valued a little.
Bit more and how that. You THEM but i just
think that he's, just penaloged like we ain't, gonna sign
we ain't gonna offer this contract because he don't want
to be. Around people he ain't, got that, you, know
LIKE and i just think, that's unfair you KNOW what,
i mean to to really uh deal. With that, but
again he definitely had some some asterisks in his thing

(58:18):
because he had an. Irregular heartbeat we're not going to.
Ignore that in a severe. Ankle injury that just kind
of through a lot, of questions which is, you, know
rightfully so you KNOW what. I mean but he was
able to push through a little bit and play a
little bit further into the. Two thousands but, you know
you just think about those type. Of, Things man What
What dereck coleman could have been a little bit more

(58:40):
added to? His career, all, right man, all right, dot
man this has been a, great, episode man. Very lengthy
we discussed a lot. OF hoop i think the hoop
lover's gonna really, love this you KNOW what. I mean
we mentioned a lot of names that haven't been mentioned
in a. Long time respect to all, these, legends man. Local,
legends man however you want to, put it they put,

(59:01):
in work you KNOW what, i mean and paved the
way for you guys to do the things that you
love to do at. This, Moment, so man where can they? Find?

Speaker 2 (59:09):
You, doc yeah heck of a.

Speaker 1 (59:11):
Comeback, episode man good to get back in here talking.
SOME hoops i know where to find ME A S
dot CURRY everywhere S D o T c U R.

Speaker 3 (59:19):
R y also can find him on the court soon
With The Coach. State warriors you KNOW what. I mean
you can find Me at trey And at travon on.

Speaker 1 (59:42):

Speaker 3 (59:43):
Down man it was too easy.

Speaker 1 (59:44):

Speaker 3 (59:44):
