Speaker 1 (00:00):
I don't even think I know what he sounds like.
That's how crazy that is. I think I've ever heard
of postgame interview. I just used it though Kevin Barton
could play, you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (00:09):
Seen him?
Speaker 3 (00:10):
Since you really don't want no tension, just buckets. I'm
going home.
Speaker 4 (00:15):
I ain't seen him.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
Since he retired.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
Welcome back to another episode of Greatest of their Era?
Speaker 4 (00:27):
What's going on? Doctor up Trey?
Speaker 2 (00:30):
Another episode?
Speaker 3 (00:31):
We got some some good names a better bring up today?
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Yeah, man, it's a good topic. Man, the greatest underrated
players of the two thousands. Man, when you think when
you hear the word underrated, what comes to mind?
Speaker 3 (00:46):
I think when it comes to underrated players in the NBA,
everything everybody knows if you're in the league, you're one
of the best players to ever to I mean in
the world at the time. But underrated, we don't necessarily
get the shit you deserve for what you bring to
your team, like you might get overshadowed by more popular
(01:06):
players on your team or even better players. And I
think when you get that, when you're underrated, you have
the respect of your teammates and people around the NBA
and people who pay attention and really know the game,
but I think the average fan might not know how
good you are and what you bring to the table
every night.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Could an All Star player be underrated?
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Absolutely? I think so. I think so.
Speaker 3 (01:30):
Like I say, it's about recognition, yeah, nationwide, like as
a whole in my opinion. Like like I said, I
think when it comes to maybe like a one or
two time All Star, who who actually has the respect
of the superstars in the league, who they played every night.
When you like look at the interview of Kobe back
(01:51):
in the day or Shaq or MJ. Like when they're
talking about players around the league, they might bring up
a guy you, Oh, I never really thought he was
that good, But when Kobe mentioned playing against him or
guarding them, You're like, oh, well, maybe I should miss
take a second look, Maybe I should watch him a
little bit more.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Yeah, I think it's just an ultimate respect too. When
you're you get you know, from your peers. I think
once you make the All Star Game, though, I'm gonna
make this really difficult, you fall off the underrated.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Okay, you get what I'm saying. Like I just I
think I think it's perception, but I feel, yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
The only reason why is because now you're on the
big stage, you have all the eyes. Now I think
you lose that. But I think a guy that's always
on the bubble, right, we watched uh, you know Digg's guy,
Norman Powell right be on the cusp for like two seasons,
two three seasons, like is he underrated? Is he gonna
be All Star? And it looked close and he finally
(02:47):
got there. I can't say Norman Pole is underrated anymore.
I think I know who he is, I know what
he brings to the table. I think where he's at
Miami at this particular time, has a statablished himself as
a legit player that I can't just be like, yo,
he underrated.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
Were sleeping on him?
Speaker 1 (03:06):
You know what I'm saying, Because when you think, when
you hear the word underrated, that means you are slept on.
Like people just constantly keep this credit like I think
you're underrated.
Speaker 4 (03:16):
Do you get what I'm saying?
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Like, I think a lot of people see your game
and they think you do one thing, and you do
so much other things. I think that's the thing of
being underrated, Like, oh, I didn't know he can go
crazy like that?
Speaker 3 (03:28):
Well, well, out weigh perception versus my reality. If you
are the overall NBA players reality of you, like who
know the game? So to me, like, if you make
an All Star team, you can be overrated. I think, oh,
he made it all he must be on this he
must be this good, Like he must be a oh
he a star in the league just because he made
one All Star team. He might have been a feeling
(03:50):
or replacement All Star guy who has one or two
All Stars and everybody think he a Max, he a
super max player and he should be carrying teams. That's
not really who he is.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
You just see and then you got recognition.
Speaker 1 (04:03):
Too when you really think about it, Right, Yeah, all
star doesn't mean you have one option. You are just
excelling really well in a singular regular season. That means
like you're having a great season. That means they probably
ain't adjusted to you yet they probably did nothing, like
you're new to a team, you're playing with somebody else
(04:24):
that desires gravity, you know, Like there's so many other
context to that. So it's just kind of like hmmm,
I don't know, you know, like if I can do
the overrated thing yet the overrated thing is kind of
like somebody constantly rewarded for no reason.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
That's where it gets tricky, though, because when you make
that one all Star, now, all of a sudden, your
agent and all your people pushing you be a star.
Oh he needed if you make astar. Now he in
line to get us a signature shoe. You know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (04:59):
I don't think they get that wrong, though sometimes I don't.
I haven't looked at a signature shoe person and said
why he got one outside of you know, respectable Chinese brands.
They've been showing up role players and things of that nature.
But I'm talking about the big dogs. I don't think
(05:19):
the big dogs get it wrong. You know what I mean?
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Like, I'm gonna respectfully disagree. I ain't gonna call no.
Speaker 4 (05:25):
No, you ain't got at this point.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
But I'm respectfully disagree. Because you get a signature shoe
with some brands saying Nike, I feel like if they
put that engine behind you and and give you you
can't miss, you can't miss, You're gonna sell out. If
they gave me a signature shoe and I got the
Nike push, I'm doing numbers in my first year because
(05:48):
for all the different reasons they putting that give your
cheap shoe, They're gonna give me a good looking shoe.
They're gonna make sure to do numbers. And I've seen
that with other players around the league. Okay, okay, I say,
you know you.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Ain't mentioned it nobody, but I like it.
Speaker 1 (06:03):
If you think you know who we talking about, yes,
say it in the comments. Great, Oh, let's just jump
right into that, man, because I think this is gonna
be a very fun one.
Speaker 4 (06:11):
Man.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
I think we're gonna be towing the line a lot
because some players, rightfully so underrated that some of these people,
I don't want to say, no, all right, Robert or
is he underrated or not.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
I think he's properly rated. I'm gonna properly rate it
because he gets he was a good player. He wasn't great,
but he had some some huge moments, like all time
iconic moments in the playoffs, regular season, even like a
big shots. And I think it's one of those where
people he probably ready because some people overrat him to
(06:46):
where they say, oh, he should be in the Hall
of Fame, you know what I'm saying, And then somebody they're.
Speaker 2 (06:52):
Some people today don't even know who he is.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
They're raiding him off one thing of being clutched, right, Yeah,
and the clutch don't equal twenty five points.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Yeah, we're looking at the player.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Yeah, like he just he just is making a big
shot to help sell the deal, like he's an important
piece to the.
Speaker 4 (07:13):
Table of success.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
Right. But at the end of the day, time and time,
he'll have twenty points. He'll But it's just so inconsistent.
And I think for you to be a underrated player,
you have to have some sort of consistency.
Speaker 2 (07:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:31):
Yeah, I'm not saying underrated, yeah, just because.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
Yeah, so I'm aligned with you.
Speaker 1 (07:36):
He's probably not gonna make my top five, respect to
the champion, seven time champion Robert Dorry, you know what
I mean. And you know career stats of seven, five
and two, you know, but he does add value. He's
almost a good luck charm if he's on your roster.
He's the rabbit foot, you know.
Speaker 2 (07:55):
He's like that miss in, that missing piece when he could.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
When we signed Robert Orry, we trade for him.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
That we got a chance to win it all.
Speaker 1 (08:03):
But I'm not going to ever say Robert Ry was underrated.
I just not go I can't do it all right.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
Lamar.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Very skilled player, sixteen valuable playmaker, frontline defender, rebounder, can
get some buckets for you if you.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
Need not not a main option.
Speaker 1 (08:22):
Maybe a third, maybe a fourth option, could play multiple
positions for you.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
Is Lamar odom underrated.
Speaker 2 (08:31):
To me?
Speaker 3 (08:32):
Lamar as a now this is two far for me
because as an individual talent and skill said and just
I think he's underrated as a talent now, the production
and all that. I feel like he could have he
underachieved a little band his career, just the size.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
The skill that he had.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
Obviously, he was a big piece of them Lakers teams,
but he should have been a perennial All Star, no
question stuff some of the teams he was a six
man like he should have been. He should have been
one of the main stays in the league every year.
Obviously had a lot of stuff going off the floor
and all that, and that's part of the stuff that
comes into play for him. But I think it's a talent.
(09:15):
I mean, kind of he underachieved, so I can't say
he underrated.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Yeah, I mean, and it's kind of strange when certain guys,
right they go in, they're drafted top five or whatever,
top ten and the bar is so high because you're
looking at upside. Right you draft, you say, ah, men
sixten handled the ball, can do this thing, and they
still managed to win a championship.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
Right, You technically don't.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
Write their career off because they like still accomplished the
ultimate goal, but for individual expectations, they didn't meet it.
So it's hard to be like, yo, he underrated, Like nah.
Like if I'm the Clippers and I'm drafted lamorrow with
them in nineteen ninety and what I thought I was
gonna get. I thought we was gonna see our first championship.
(10:05):
I thought we were gonna get our Western Conference Finals appearances.
I thought this is a franchise changing player. Instead we
got a young guy that is very skilled, attains a
lot of things, maybe has some distractions. You finally get
some structure. You're playing with another star that really believes
in you. They find a role that really works, You
(10:28):
find success, You win championships, you win an Olympic gold.
Speaker 4 (10:32):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
You're in the right place at the right time.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
Your career still worked.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Out, but you were an average twenty five. You didn't
become a first option. He cooked in Miami for one
year before he was traded, but he still didn't get
that chance to like consecutively prove hey, I'm that guy.
You know that was kind of like drafted for. So
I'm going to respectfully say he's not underrated.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
He found comfort in not being the main guy, even
though you when you evaluate him in around the league, like, oh,
he can be he could be the number one option
on the team. Mentally, that's not the head space he
wanted to be in. He found comfortable when he could
just set play, make b have less pressure on him,
but set the table for other main scores, you know
what I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (11:20):
So I feel like.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
He just that's not the route he wanted to go
as a just mentally, even though he had the talent
to be whatever he wanted to be in the league.
Speaker 1 (11:29):
Yeah, absolutely, man, respect of lamorrow of them.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
Shout out the Lamar for the new the documentary documentary
coming out.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
Yeah, I can't wait to check that out at the
end of the month.
Speaker 4 (11:39):
All right. Second pick, putting up multiple.
Speaker 1 (11:44):
Years twenty points per game, earned two off Star nods.
You know what I mean, was able to really cook,
made a lot of money. I think Lewis was underrated.
He might be the first person on this list that
I'll be like, yo, he was underrated, not to till
(12:04):
end of his career, but during the time when he
was on that Orlando Magic team at All Stars and
all that other stuff. Underrated because he for sure could
have been like he could have fizzled out, you know
what I'm saying, Like Lamarrow to being drafted lottery. This
dude came in second round, you know what I mean,
(12:25):
second round and made the best of his opportunity.
Speaker 3 (12:30):
I can agree more like he was. That's one of
my favorite players, and he one of the people who
he underrated. Insists of him as an individual player and
his impact on the league, like he kind of changed
the league and changed the game and spread he wanted.
They had the white and then he allowed the team
to just he could guard the position, but he could
(12:51):
shoot the heck out of the ball, so he could
they could play four out around one bit, like not
a lot of teams were doing that before that. It
was always two bigs who played around the paint. And
he brought a new system in a new era into
the league where shot more threes, you spread the floor
out more like he's one of my favorite to watch.
Speaker 2 (13:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Absolutely, I mean I'm not mad at that. The next one,
Andre Carencoln, I think he underrated.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Tell me, I think.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
I just think that he just can his contributions. Man,
when you got him on your team, it's low lift
what you was expecting from him and then what he
was able to do. You hear what I'm saying, Like,
I remember they first drafted him. I was like, Dog's
gonna be one of the European players from be in
and out. And he made his value off being a defender,
(13:43):
chasing down blocks, being up in people's face, but also
just in and end just doing his thing. Man. And
obviously he only made a one time All Star, he
turned it into something. He also is the blocks Champion five.
Like he just kept stacking defensive accolades, like he was
one of the most respected first team All Defense guys.
You know what I'm saying that, You're like, okay, I
(14:05):
need him, and it wasn't like, oh that was expected.
That's why I'm saying, Yes, I think he was underrated
because it was not expected, was earned, and.
Speaker 2 (14:13):
He was a problem. Yeah, it was a problem.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
Like I said, to start with him, on defense, but
I think his offense was underrated because he could put
the ball on the floor.
Speaker 2 (14:22):
He can drive.
Speaker 3 (14:23):
I think defensively, I mean three like I said, three
all times three all defensive teams he got. I think
people know about him who watched that era know about
him as being one of the best defenders. But offensively
he can get to it as well, be a secondary
playmaker playing with those guys in Utah. Like I can
agree with him the offensive end.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
And also just finding him as like a third fourth
option in Utah on the offensive end because it's heavy.
It's heavy, loaded with Boozier Williams, and then you squeeze
Ronnie Brewer in there, you know, like some of them
touches was going to Ronnie. Yeah, and Carolinko ended up
with fifteen and seven, you know what I mean, just
(15:06):
on some.
Speaker 3 (15:07):
Lea he could have scaled up if you would have
went to a different system. Oh, during his prime, he
could have scaled up and did more offensively.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Yeah, I want thousand percent agree Uh this next player,
I'm not going to call him underrated. I think that
he was predicted to do.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
More.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Huston Elton Brown right right, All Star Guy injury played undersized,
so he accomplished a lot. Like I think the expectations
was put on him to be, like his collegiate success
transferred to professional success. What he was able to do
at sixty seven six' eight playing power forward in that
(15:49):
era is very. Impressive twenty ten. Guy BUT i can't
say that he was, underrated you know WHAT i, mean
because he came in with the, expectation even though it's,
unfair you know WHAT i, Mean like if he would
have been a small, forward if he would have, said all,
Right i'm changing my. Position i'm gonna slim. Down i'm
gonna be a small, forward and that's How i'm Maybe i'm, like,
(16:10):
okay but to be a power for, IT i just
think THAT i don't think he was. UNDERRATED i think
he was just kind of dealing with his playing in
the position that was that was, dealt you, know and
for the franchises that he, had and when he got,
hurt he got. Hurt so but he, killed he killed
when he needed to and that's just all respect to.
That but when the injury came into, play Like Chicago
(16:31):
Bulls elton brand, Problem Los Angeles Clippers olting brand, problem
you start tinkering down, injuries you, know AND i just.
Speaker 4 (16:43):
LIKE i felt like he overachieved in THE.
Speaker 3 (16:45):
Nba this is where we're gonna have to, differ And
i'm a rived for my. Dude guys under because compare, him,
like compare his his stats and his his. Game to,
Say Anthony davis numbers, today people view a d as
one of the best full power forwards to ever play the. Game,
(17:09):
HEY Elm brown was putting up similar, numbers but Undersize
obviously they have the defensive end of he didn't run
as good. Defensively BUT i THINK Elm brown was overshadowed
by the era he played in because it was a
big man.
Speaker 1 (17:20):
Era and that's What i'm. Saying so it's kind of
hard to be. Like but the expectations coming out Of.
Duke he's a number two, pick so it's. Different think he.
Speaker 2 (17:31):
WAS i think he. WAS i think he lived up to.
Speaker 3 (17:33):
It number one, like he just he was going against
iconic all time, Greats like he wasn't gonna be as
good as Shocked Tim. Duncan he just wasn't Going he
couldn't match that no matter what.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
Pick but Also i'm just SAYING i don't think that he,
didn't you know WHAT i, Mean, LIKE.
Speaker 4 (17:51):
I think you don't think he's, Unachieved but that's What
that's Why i'm.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
Saying it's kind of hard because he always was on
the radar to do these, Things like the expectations was always,
There so it's hard for me to be, Like i'm
shocked you.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Thinking a grand.
Speaker 3 (18:04):
Scheme comparing him To biggs later on in different, ERAS
i think they get more credit because they played against
weaker competition okay than he.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
Did you know What i'm, Saying And i'm.
Speaker 3 (18:18):
MAD i think if you move him and put him
in a ten years later.
Speaker 2 (18:24):
Elm brand, conversation he cooks he's a two.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Hundred million dollar man easily because he's playing him And
paul millshapp them, dudes they, yeah write your own, check,
buddy blank check, here you know WHAT i? Mean because
they you can't do nothing with. Him BUT i just
think that it's hard for me to like, SAY i
know what Elmbro, LIKE i watched Elm brand cook in,
college so my expectations is LIKE i wouldn't EVEN i
(18:48):
don't think, mentally me watching the game was, like, oh
Elm brand got to face a sixteen Guy Ellan brand
got to face a seven foot guy that can do these.
Things my thing Was Elm brand was traded For Tyson.
Chandler he's going To Los Angeles, clippers and he about to.
Cook BECAUSE i was A bulls fan at the, time
SO i really was rolling With Elton. Brann i'm, like,
oh rookie of The, year like he out of, here
(19:11):
you know What i'm. Saying and then to watch him
become An All star IN La i'm just, like you,
know and The dallas year's, serviceable you know WHAT i,
Mean like certain things you look at it and it's
just like watching, it, like, Okay philly. Serviceable Respect when
you look and put them numbers up against, now he
would easily still make more, money you know WHAT i,
(19:31):
mean because he's. Skilled he know what he needed to.
Do BUT i couldn't, say, Man Elon brann, underrated y'all
be hating on him LIKE i just that wouldn't be
the conversation for, me Because Elton brand always was a good.
Player he just it never like went into a point of,
like you know what would Make Elton brand? Underrated for?
Me If Elton brand was a top player and he went,
(19:54):
undrafted and now fighting a good fight For Elton brandt every,
time and people are, like you see that el And i'm,
like he shut away a, lottery you know What i'm, Saying,
LIKE i think that's that would be the case for,
Me like how you didn't get. DRAFTED i would be,
Mad Like i'd be, like, yo see he, underrated, Bro
like y'all keep keeping him at that. Point but if
(20:15):
you already was like top, Three it's hard for me
to sympathize because your path was.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
There you play it.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Back you gotta deal with the body you, given you
know WHAT i, Mean like you would love to be six,'
six but you gotta do what you.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
Gotta do he's.
Speaker 2 (20:31):
SIX eight i just think he lived up. To that
it was.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
Just different you think he's that that number two pick
gotta be and what he was traded for with all
that gotta be all. TIME great i think he. HAD
career i THOUGHT he i thought he lived up to
the number. Two pick like and that's THE thing.
Speaker 1 (20:52):
I didn't i didn't think. HE didn't i think. HE
did i think it was to a point, of, like
hey he's not, a bust but he's. Not underrated it's
hard for me to just say it in a way
of like that people are sleeping. ON him i just
don't think people slept on him because he's been nice his.
Speaker 4 (21:08):
Whole career outside.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
Of view we view the perception of. Him different we
both think he was solid, and good very. Good player
but YOU just.
Speaker 4 (21:20):
I feel like now a lot of people don't Even
know BROWN. Was O but I think hopeful does that.
To YOU the nba does that to you because.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
When, you look you pull out the receipt and you
see how many hitters, it is it's hard to, be
like he.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
Was nice you Know what, I'm, saying like.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
It's hard, you know we had a Conversation About. Derek harper,
it's hard bro to.
Speaker 4 (21:44):
Be, like yo this dude.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Can contribute he's gonna do. His thing he really, liked
that and you just don't get that. Pure Respect danny
granger is another player that you could, Be, like bro he.
Was solid and then it's hard for me to say
he was underrated because he went To The All.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
Star game he.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
Was cooking if he never, Made it i'd probably be fighting,
for Him Like.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
Rod, Strickland underrated like you Know what, I'm.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
SAYING like i just think that them type of dudes on, The,
cuff yo. Pops, underrated like no matter what you want,
to say you want to Talk about ZOE, And lj
i'm gonna, Be, like yo What About?
Speaker 4 (22:18):
Del curry he got his. Number retired he not like
he ain't Even an. All star. He underrated he was
like those type of dudes that just.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
Are cornerstone people are, your franchise and people loved and
they put they they put their boots on every day
and did they thing and still didn't get like quote
unquote accolades outside of being three point champion and things.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
Like that he was so valuable to.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
The team we go back and look at your dad
numbers and, be, like, damn yeah he.
Speaker 1 (22:44):
Was up like people would, be like what that's when
you gotta be like He UNDERRATED when i see, the
number if there's a shock Value and, i'm confused he,
got it he. Got It michael red Shouts To michael
red second. ROUND pick i Remember When mychael red finally got.
Speaker 4 (23:01):

cook it cooking, with grease and then he cooked so
much that they, were like, all.
Speaker 4 (23:18):

how he was used on. Certain teams crying.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
My guy one of my VETS when i was my
FIRST when i was a Rookie. IN sack i mean
HE was i think that was his last year in.
The league he showed me. The ropes he was schooling
me on game every. Single NIGHT but I think i
think he's. Properly, rated yeah like a, good player Two Time. All,
(25:51):
star yeah he had, super game but he WASN'T like
i would, say this he never won of the big
level being being one of the guys on. The team
he wanted the.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
Highest levels. He was he was a.
Speaker 1 (26:04):
Roll guy he was underrated With. The, lakers, like yeah
when he was With, THE lakers i don't think people
really like he was Bumping. In miami but when he
got To the lakers and he was one two, a
code like he.
Speaker 2 (26:21):
Was a big.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Time SIGNING like i, Was like kobe got some. Help

bumping you might be.
Speaker 2 (26:51):
Selling me he might have changed.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
MY mind i think he underrated because he was he.
Was unstopped he was one of the best scores in.
The league and think about before he got Hurt. In
dallas when you got when You, got Kobe. Like kobe
the RUMORS is I think kobe would tell the story
he Was begging karan to.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
COME over i.
Speaker 4 (27:11):
BELIEVE it i. BELIEVE it i believe it because they
was really. One two they was. One two they.
Speaker 1 (27:17):

That point you Know what, I'm, Saying oh. I'M blinking
i want To say chris mim at the five like that.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
The gettable Teams where kobe was scoring. Eighty, one, yeah
yeah Like nobody kobe was Five.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
And karan butler would be right there seventeen twenty two
and they just, grind, it, Grinding grinding but nobody, was,
Like Oh koran, butler star like, you know like you
Know Of. Karan butler but he had some legal trouble
and all this other stuff. Going on and when he finally,
got drafted, you know he Was a he was a
decent Player, in MIAMI but i don't think it was
gonna get over, the hump you Know what. I'm saying
(27:57):
until he GOT TO la I don't i wouldn't say
Him and cole motivated him to get To The all.
Star level but that momentum Shifted to washington and he
becomes a third Guy with Twan. And gil so even
his usage on there was very, slept on you KNOW what,
I mean like he, averaging twenty but like all the
(28:19):
attention Going to Twine and gil and. He important so
then he Get to dallas and now he's a household
name because it's like he.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
GOT hurt i think he. Was hurt they, want, it.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Yeah they want like right in the middle of, the playoffs,
they're like, oh man they're not even gonna win because,
you know and they still win and end up doing
it with. All him but he was bumping like he
was a real, Pivotal, piece, like hey We Got. Kron

Speaker 1 (29:22):
To be that good, crazy logic which, is crazy probably
one of the craziest LOGICS in.
Speaker 4 (29:26):
Nba history BUT but.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
I remember it, like Yesterday coming steph coming into. THE
league i mean he was out here In, the bay
so sat grab. The street they just played them and
it will be big. Time games they were two, awful teams
but it would be big time games In. The Bay
And kevin martin would just cook like he. Couldn't everything
how how he?

YOU do i don't KNOW how I Would, The rockets
bobcats like dude was he was really, like, That BRO.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
And i don't even know he got a shot off.
WITH that i can't even explain this type of shot.
He had you got to go look that. Up yourself
but the form he had to get a shot off
was impressive in and. Of itself but to score twenty
plus for years, doing it and.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
Where he came from out, Of Nowhere, eastern carolina like,
eastern Western Eastern, western, Carolina yeah western even even. Even
worse you Know what i'm saying he the goat, over
there and he calm like he DON'T even i don't
EVEN think i know what. He's sounding that's how crazy.

and he explained that he didn't know how to play
basketball at the time when he was With, the rockets
like they, didn't run no, real sets they just was.
Just bumping, he said he didn't learned how to be
a real professional to you got To. The clippers they got.
To sixers like when you got to them type, of
(31:49):
teams he, learned professionalism, like hey how to put together,
real minutes how to like, you know like just winging
it and it's just, like yo. All right But Also
steve francis used to get always all.
Speaker 4 (32:03):
The Love but Cat Lefty rhode island game like.

You this steph got Drafted To, golden State and monte

small guards we can't. Do it because they Were telling
mante during the draft night they're gonna get him a
big Supposedly a marian's was gonna be Traded, for Steph
And golden state decided To. Keep steph so like we're
(33:30):
gonna make, it work too, small guards blah. Blah blah mante,
wasn't happy and We're talking steph like Who was we.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
Don't really know Who? Is mante like who you think?
Speaker 1 (33:38):
He?
Speaker 4 (33:38):
Is?
Speaker 3 (33:38):
He nah but at first we could train. The camp
i'm on the Phone. With steph, he's, Like yo. Mante
nice he, was nice like he was trying to explain.
To me and then like people don't realize how good
he was around just the. Whole country they don't realize
how good. He was but then he because he was getting,
(33:59):
to it like, a said, round pick kind of a,
Nasty game like you don't understand how he, did it
because he couldn't shoot, like that but he could shoot
the mini. Just enough he was just getting to the
rack and finishing and the unorthodox ways and like just the.
Speaker 2 (34:14):
Underrated, hooper look before.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
Y'all, GOT there i was around that other team, and

him all, the, time, like yo hey he. Liked that,
He like i'm like trying to. See it but also
he he come, off small but. He not he's sixty,
three long you KNOW what. I mean like he got
kind of an.
Speaker 2 (34:57):
Acceptive bill he could finish with. The tree he get
in there.
Speaker 1 (35:00):
And finished he get, up dog he got a sneaky
bounce he, you know and he ALWAYS he i feel
like he's one of, the players AS tell cj. Is
too they got punished for being On the west, you
KNOW what, I mean like he could have been by
the time he Got to. Milwaukee operating pretty sure he was.
Speaker 3 (35:17):
Off it But That east coast bias is real now
that that just growing up On. The EAST and i
ain't know anybody who played who played in going to
State before steph came. Out, here, really man, that's, LIKE
no i ain't even know where, It was like the
games came on. Too late and you Know what, i'm
saying so less it Was, the Lakers maybe portland when they. Were,
(35:41):
good nobody don't. Be bad we didn't watch them games.
Like that think about it and don't. Be, bad yeah don't.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
Be bad don't be a bad team because you not

i could See Why jazz knicks fan don't know nothing About,
the jazz you Know what, I'm saying like when you, think,
ABOUT oh i got to stay up to ten and
Watch a, Jazz game.
Speaker 4 (36:06):

Speaker 1 (36:09):
Over there like there certain players pique, your interest but
you might catch them when they playing your team at a.

Decent time you don't.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
Really get that bump, like that you KNOW what. I
mean but Like Watching monte bra spind lay do what.

Speaker 2 (37:06):
You, why okay.
Speaker 3 (37:07):
Go ahead outside of him Being, from charlotte only PLAYER
in nba history with twenty thousand points and not In
the Hall, of fame.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
That's just an underrated score like walking walking.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
Twenty piece and he had a weird game like he
would he had, the floater he could shoot like he's
a good good boring in The Wrong, aaron canada because
he could spread the, floor shoot but also post playing
a pocket with his little floaters in the, mid range
like he was just a scoring machine from all areas of.
(37:43):
The court and but the thing is it went pretty
like you weren't really necessarily like watching, Him PLAY so
i think that hurt his brand a.
Speaker 4 (37:51):
Little, BIT yeah I mean i.
Speaker 1 (37:55):
Liked. Him Man When golden state he used To get lakers.
The buckets bro we got back to, BACK forties i, was, okay,

Speaker 3 (38:09):
He he finished the two thousands the whole decade ninth

Speaker 1 (38:28):
Game man hopefully he. Get In, Andre millary, millard. Underrated
underrated any player that played with him will say the, same,
thing like you know how his style. OF game i
think it's. Slept on he know how to get you.
The ball he's sneakily on, a rebound Demon. Like Steph
(38:50):
like steph is one of the one of the greatest
point guard. Rebounders TOO that i be like people Sleep
on he just randomly end up in like. Nine Boards But,
andre miller you look at the stat line eighteen nine,
And nine how he ain't, You KNOW like i Ain't
See andre miller take. NO threes I Ain't seandre miller
take no jump shot fifty two, on layups you KNOW what.
(39:13):

it if you, let him you KNOW what. I mean
but he loved. To win that's all he. Cared, About
man he's.
Speaker 3 (39:24):
One of my favorite players to watch and another one
of those he'll be. Hooping forever you see him in
the pickup RUNS.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
In la BUT.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
He i can't say, you're underrated, because yeah. That's not
he didn't really want.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
To be he.
Speaker 3 (39:38):
Just did he did what he wanted to do on.
The night sometimes he came, out there he didn't really want.
Speaker 2 (39:42):
To score he was.
Speaker 3 (39:43):
Just going he just wanted to facilitate kind of play,
his game going to stand on. The radar some nights
he go out there and. Get FIFTY like i think
he was probably rated just because he was a, good
player never really pushed the envelope to Be An, all
star one of the best in. The league EVEN though
i think he. Could have but he was fine playing that,
(40:04):
back roll coming off, the bench starting. At times he
just he was just a really. Good PLAYER but i
think he got more.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
He has he does.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
He want of the dudes who he does, have more
a lot more respect in the basketball circles than your.
Average fan like YOU ask nba player or somebody that's
been around the game, like yourself gonna rave. About him
but the average Fan Like andre.
Speaker 2 (40:29):
Miller average.
Speaker 1 (40:32):
He'll put the ball right where you, need, it man
shoot her dunk threat like just a just a. Bucket
MAN and I Love LaMarcus ardis when he told the
story about, you know You.
Speaker 4 (40:43):

Playing against, dre DUDE and i was, just like He
ain't i'm sizing. Him up, i'm like he ain't that
tall man like HE. In nba you know this one
he Plays, with clippers six'. Two decent size that man
backed Me down Like Magic Or nick van exell and just.
Speaker 4 (41:12):
Made me pay made me pay the, whole fourth quarter
like just taught.
Speaker 1 (41:17):
Me a lesson he WAS chilling because i was, Getting
you know, i'm being young just trying.
Speaker 4 (41:20):
To get buckets like he but he also not about to.
Speaker 1 (41:22):
Defend me, LIKE he like i ain't. Tripping game close
he's just like give, me the rock, tire me out and,
just old school old old school, gaming whole. Time no,
sweat i'm, LIKE dangn man. I get it it's a
huge separation of why you guys are pros and a
(41:44):
neighborhood guy being good or a collegiate player being good
is just night and day, from a pro YOU know.
What i mean it just humbled me, to a point
like almost. To a point i'm just LIKE whatever idea
i thought in MY mind that i could, go play
professional which is. Just get out, you're you're okay YOU know,
What i mean like you're better than, the local guys
but like you need. To chill out and now that
(42:06):
was a good, lesson, for me man, BECAUSE you know
i just had to respect AND that's why i stopped
just critiquing certain guys. A certain way i would never
call nobody, sorry all that like they all mean something,
to a team and they all got like you know
they you you. Wanted the best You know, what i'm
saying when you when you when you really, Think About
it michael finley not. Underrated to me, always been nice.
(42:28):
Always been nice his role might have changed as. HE
got older i just you. Know that dog.
Speaker 3 (42:34):
Always been nice, He was paid he made a lot
of money in, the league people.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
But played in basically.
Speaker 3 (42:45):
For two franchises like he's he solidified as one of.
Speaker 2 (42:49):
The best wings he.
Speaker 4 (42:51):
A front, office guy now.
Speaker 3 (42:53):
Like everybody knew who he is on and.
Speaker 2 (42:54):
OFF the court i got No Words.
Speaker 1 (42:56):
For Mike. FINLEY jason richardson i don't think, it's UNDER
rated but i do respect what he brought to the
teams that, he Was on Especially. PHOENIX and orlando i
think that he was always in a weird box of,
just a dunk but he could.
Speaker 2 (43:12):
Shoot a three that's all.
Speaker 3 (43:14):
ABOUT to say i think he's underrated in a specific
sense as far as His his, j.
Speaker 2 (43:19):
All right are you an underrated shooter as an?
Speaker 3 (43:22):
Overall score player like he's so athletic and that jumps,
out to, you but like oh? He, a dunker yeah
when that's that's not. Really the, Case so yeah i'm glad,
you said that so.

Speaker 4 (45:06):
At this Morning he Is.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
Draymond before DRAYMOND like when i really think about those
things like bruh six seven, playing power forward leading the
league and rebounds, at one point just what he's asked
to do, on both ends what he contributed to, those
You know, those phoenix teams and and ultimately getting A.
Championship in dallas But like the matrix, really like that
(45:29):
You know, what i'm saying, really like that and COMING
out of unlv that. Wasn't the expectation dog like he. Earned,
all that.
Speaker 3 (45:40):
Yeah he's when you talk about that that Decade and
those sons teams who changed the league with the, way
you play then going To win the Chipping. And the
mavii you Gotta Bring up sean marry just because he
filled the gaps, on them teams like he was willing.
Speaker 2 (45:54):
To do whatever he's on.
Speaker 1 (45:56):
My, influential list yeah YOU know, what i mean. Like
win list that's how that's what type of presence he
brought Shows. To the, matrix, all right, Man my five
i'm Gonna Go. With andre, Miller at five i'm Gonna
Go with monte. ELLIS at, Four I mean michael. Red
at three i'm Gonna Go with kevin, martin at too
(46:20):
and my number, One Underrated. PLAYER katino mobley i.
Speaker 3 (46:24):
LIKE that LIST i wish I, COULD have MMM i
wish i God To put kevin.
Speaker 1 (46:28):
Martin, in Mind yeah but katino, again, another one bro
because he just his game, is YOU know like i
could send, a normal player like a current player to
him right now and he can teach, them the game
YOU know? What i MEAN and like i think his
style of play with benefit. In another era, and, you know,
(46:49):
unfortunately you. Know he waited he learned a little bit
late and how to play the game meaningful basketball versus
just excitement highlights and stuff. That They, do in houston they.
Were very young they, had no vets so they were,
a little, loose he said playing with playing. With a
purpose they didn't play with a lot of. Purpose Early,
(47:09):
On Kevin, catole maurice, Taylor You know moochie norris, and
those guys they were, just twenty, one twenty three and
he was like his example was like he at least,
watches okay see and they play with a. Purpose to
win they really feel like they Can win the rockets
didn't feel like. They can win they just. Was like clowning,
And you know rudy t kept them to, a certain
(47:31):
standard but not like actually believed that they Could beat
the Lakers and the minnesota's and all those team all.
Those other, teams all right we're gonna, take another break
and when, we come back we're do. Our favorite segment
born in the room?
Speaker 4 (47:44):
Are all right god we Back Man this.
Speaker 2 (48:04):
So i'll really.
Speaker 4 (48:05):
ENJOYED this one i want to hear who's born in.
Speaker 1 (48:09):
THE wrong era i know there's a list of players,
you CAN mention but i really want to know who
would cook.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
IN this era i had a, couple OF candidates, but
I mean ultimately I'm Going with michael red as.
Speaker 2 (48:20):
My number one born in.
Speaker 3 (48:21):
The wrong era he built for the high volume three
era where you just. Spread the floor he got up.
Double digit threes he would have. Been a monster he could.
Play ice oldball at. The, same time, also you like
like we, talked about earlier you would have benefited from
modern day medicine just. Keeping them healthy he would have
been able to bounce back from some of those knee
(48:42):
injuries that ultimately. Shut HIM down But I think michael
red in today's game is. A special player.
Speaker 1 (48:52):
I'm just gonna, Have To, say kevin martin he was.
Cooking back then he would COOK now like i just think.
HE would benefit i think he would be hard to
put on on the on the scouting report like. He
would be he would be tearing these. Young players up
he he would be, mad as hell Like This bads.
(49:12):
All star game they would have dragged. Him in there
he would have made. It just awful even if he
would have DID and say i don't want to be a,
part of it he would have been dragged in there.
Speaker 2 (49:21):
Like either that or he would have. BEEN in that.
Speaker 3 (49:25):
I right to say he would have Been In That
ken thomas roe where they they doubt he's because he's
scoring on bad.
Speaker 1 (49:30):
Scoring, so much yeah they.
Speaker 3 (49:32):
Would have found a way to. Poke at him You know,
what i'm saying.
Speaker 4 (49:34):
Pop pop poker but he, Was, a, bucket, hey bucket
bucket just.
Speaker 1 (49:42):
Like the score, Do, his thing hey don't take it too,
to the, heart finish, it come back. Not too Much Shouts. To,
