you hear the word underrated, what comes to mind?

I think when it comes to underrated players in the NBA,
everything everybody knows if you're in the league, you're one
of the best players to ever to I mean in
the world at the time. But underrated, we don't necessarily
get the shit you deserve for what you bring to
your team, like you might get overshadowed by more popular

players on your team or even better players. And I
think when you get that, when you're underrated, you have
the respect of your teammates and people around the NBA
and people who pay attention and really know the game,
but I think the average fan might not know how
good you are and what you bring to the table
every night.

Like I say, it's about recognition, yeah, nationwide, like as
a whole in my opinion. Like like I said, I

two time All Star, who who actually has the respect
of the superstars in the league, who they played every night.
When you like look at the interview of Kobe back

in the day or Shaq or MJ. Like when they're
talking about players around the league, they might bring up
a guy you, Oh, I never really thought he was
that good, But when Kobe mentioned playing against him or
guarding them, You're like, oh, well, maybe I should miss
take a second look, Maybe I should watch him a

Yeah, I think it's just an ultimate respect too. When
you're you get you know, from your peers. I think
once you make the All Star Game, though, I'm gonna
make this really difficult, you fall off the underrated.

be All Star? And it looked close and he finally

know the game? So to me, like, if you make
an All Star team, you can be overrated. I think, oh,
he made it all he must be on this he

he a star in the league just because he made
one All Star team. He might have been a feeling

All Stars and everybody think he a Max, he a
super max player and he should be carrying teams. That's
not really who he is.

star doesn't mean you have one option. You are just
excelling really well in a singular regular season. That means
like you're having a great season. That means they probably

you're new to a team, you're playing with somebody else

context to that. So it's just kind of like hmmm,
I don't know, you know, like if I can do
the overrated thing yet the overrated thing is kind of
like somebody constantly rewarded for no reason.

that one all Star, now, all of a sudden, your
agent and all your people pushing you be a star.

line to get us a signature shoe. You know what

I haven't looked at a signature shoe person and said

I think he's underrated as a talent now, the production

Obviously, he was a big piece of them Lakers teams,
but he should have been a perennial All Star, no
question stuff some of the teams he was a six
man like he should have been. He should have been

comes into play for him. But I think it's a talent.

right they go in, they're drafted top five or whatever,
top ten and the bar is so high because you're

sixten handled the ball, can do this thing, and they
still managed to win a championship.

Write their career off because they like still accomplished the
ultimate goal, but for individual expectations, they didn't meet it.
So it's hard to be like, yo, he underrated, Like nah.

them in nineteen ninety and what I thought I was
gonna get. I thought we was gonna see our first championship.

I thought we were gonna get our Western Conference Finals appearances.
I thought this is a franchise changing player. Instead we
got a young guy that is very skilled, attains a
lot of things, maybe has some distractions. You finally get
some structure. You're playing with another star that really believes
in you. They find a role that really works, You

find success, You win championships, you win an Olympic gold.

I'm going to respectfully say he's not underrated.

He found comfort in not being the main guy, even

wanted to be in. He found comfortable when he could

as a just mentally, even though he had the talent

He might be the first person on this list that

all that other stuff. Underrated because he for sure could
have been like he could have fizzled out, you know
what I'm saying, Like Lamarrow to being drafted lottery. This

second round and made the best of his opportunity.

my favorite players, and he one of the people who
he underrated. Insists of him as an individual player and
his impact on the league, like he kind of changed

they could play four out around one bit, like not
a lot of teams were doing that before that. It
was always two bigs who played around the paint. And
he brought a new system in a new era into

obviously he only made a one time All Star, he

Like he just kept stacking defensive accolades, like he was
one of the most respected first team All Defense guys.

need him, and it wasn't like, oh that was expected.
That's why I'm saying, Yes, I think he was underrated
because it was not expected, was earned, and.

I think his offense was underrated because he could put

I think when it comes to underrated players in the NBA,
everything everybody knows if you're in the league, you're one
of the best players to ever to I mean in
the world at the time. But underrated, we don't necessarily
get the shit you deserve for what you bring to
your team, like you might get overshadowed by more popular

players on your team or even better players. And I
think when you get that, when you're underrated, you have
the respect of your teammates and people around the NBA
and people who pay attention and really know the game,
but I think the average fan might not know how
good you are and what you bring to the table
every night.

Could an All Star player be underrated?

Absolutely? I think so. I think so.

Like I say, it's about recognition, yeah, nationwide, like as
a whole in my opinion. Like like I said, I

two time All Star, who who actually has the respect
of the superstars in the league, who they played every night.
When you like look at the interview of Kobe back

in the day or Shaq or MJ. Like when they're
talking about players around the league, they might bring up
a guy you, Oh, I never really thought he was
that good, But when Kobe mentioned playing against him or
guarding them, You're like, oh, well, maybe I should miss
take a second look, Maybe I should watch him a

Yeah, I think it's just an ultimate respect too. When
you're you get you know, from your peers. I think
once you make the All Star Game, though, I'm gonna
make this really difficult, you fall off the underrated.

The only reason why is because now you're on the
big stage, you have all the eyes. Now I think
you lose that. But I think a guy that's always

Norman Powell right be on the cusp for like two seasons,
two three seasons, like is he underrated? Is he gonna
be All Star? And it looked close and he finally

got there. I can't say Norman Pole is underrated anymore.
I think I know who he is, I know what
he brings to the table. I think where he's at
Miami at this particular time, has a statablished himself as
a legit player that I can't just be like, yo,
he underrated.

know the game? So to me, like, if you make
an All Star team, you can be overrated. I think, oh,
he made it all he must be on this he

he a star in the league just because he made
one All Star team. He might have been a feeling

or replacement All Star guy who has one or two
All Stars and everybody think he a Max, he a
super max player and he should be carrying teams. That's
not really who he is.

star doesn't mean you have one option. You are just
excelling really well in a singular regular season. That means
like you're having a great season. That means they probably

you're new to a team, you're playing with somebody else

that desires gravity, you know, Like there's so many other
context to that. So it's just kind of like hmmm,
I don't know, you know, like if I can do
the overrated thing yet the overrated thing is kind of
like somebody constantly rewarded for no reason.

That's where it gets tricky, though, because when you make
that one all Star, now, all of a sudden, your
agent and all your people pushing you be a star.
Oh he needed if you make astar. Now he in
line to get us a signature shoe. You know what
I'm saying.

I don't think they get that wrong, though sometimes I don't.
I haven't looked at a signature shoe person and said
why he got one outside of you know, respectable Chinese brands.
They've been showing up role players and things of that nature.

but he had some some huge moments, like all time
iconic moments in the playoffs, regular season, even like a

because as an individual talent and skill said and just
I think he's underrated as a talent now, the production
and all that. I feel like he could have he
underachieved a little band his career, just the size.

Obviously, he was a big piece of them Lakers teams,
but he should have been a perennial All Star, no
question stuff some of the teams he was a six
man like he should have been. He should have been
one of the main stays in the league every year.
Obviously had a lot of stuff going off the floor
and all that, and that's part of the stuff that
comes into play for him. But I think it's a talent.

I mean, kind of he underachieved, so I can't say
he underrated.

Yeah, I mean, and it's kind of strange when certain guys,
right they go in, they're drafted top five or whatever,
top ten and the bar is so high because you're
looking at upside. Right you draft, you say, ah, men
sixten handled the ball, can do this thing, and they
still managed to win a championship.

Right, You technically don't.

Write their career off because they like still accomplished the
ultimate goal, but for individual expectations, they didn't meet it.
So it's hard to be like, yo, he underrated, Like nah.
Like if I'm the Clippers and I'm drafted lamorrow with
them in nineteen ninety and what I thought I was
gonna get. I thought we was gonna see our first championship.

I thought we were gonna get our Western Conference Finals appearances.
I thought this is a franchise changing player. Instead we
got a young guy that is very skilled, attains a
lot of things, maybe has some distractions. You finally get
some structure. You're playing with another star that really believes
in you. They find a role that really works, You

find success, You win championships, you win an Olympic gold.

You're in the right place at the right time.

Your career still worked.

become a first option. He cooked in Miami for one
year before he was traded, but he still didn't get
that chance to like consecutively prove hey, I'm that guy.
You know that was kind of like drafted for. So
I'm going to respectfully say he's not underrated.

He found comfort in not being the main guy, even
though you when you evaluate him in around the league, like, oh,
he can be he could be the number one option
on the team. Mentally, that's not the head space he
wanted to be in. He found comfortable when he could

what I'm saying.

He just that's not the route he wanted to go
as a just mentally, even though he had the talent
to be whatever he wanted to be in the league.

He might be the first person on this list that

end of his career, but during the time when he
was on that Orlando Magic team at All Stars and
all that other stuff. Underrated because he for sure could
have been like he could have fizzled out, you know
what I'm saying, Like Lamarrow to being drafted lottery. This
dude came in second round, you know what I mean,

second round and made the best of his opportunity.

I can agree more like he was. That's one of
my favorite players, and he one of the people who
he underrated. Insists of him as an individual player and
his impact on the league, like he kind of changed
the league and changed the game and spread he wanted.
They had the white and then he allowed the team
to just he could guard the position, but he could

shoot the heck out of the ball, so he could
they could play four out around one bit, like not
a lot of teams were doing that before that. It
was always two bigs who played around the paint. And
he brought a new system in a new era into
the league where shot more threes, you spread the floor
out more like he's one of my favorite to watch.

Andre Carencoln, I think he underrated.

I remember they first drafted him. I was like, Dog's

chasing down blocks, being up in people's face, but also
just in and end just doing his thing. Man. And
obviously he only made a one time All Star, he
turned it into something. He also is the blocks Champion five.
Like he just kept stacking defensive accolades, like he was
one of the most respected first team All Defense guys.
You know what I'm saying that, You're like, okay, I

need him, and it wasn't like, oh that was expected.
That's why I'm saying, Yes, I think he was underrated
because it was not expected, was earned, and.

I think his offense was underrated because he could put
the ball on the floor.

him as being one of the best defenders. But offensively
he can get to it as well, be a secondary

option in Utah on the offensive end because it's heavy.
It's heavy, loaded with Boozier Williams, and then you squeeze
Ronnie Brewer in there, you know, like some of them

with fifteen and seven, you know what I mean, just
