Speaker 1 (00:00):
You're listening to KFI AM six forty on demand.

Speaker 2 (00:04):
We're going to get into the various tax increases that
California Democrat politicians have cooked up try to get more
of your money. And these sneaky sobs are literally hiding
the tax increases on the ballot and using false and
misleading and deceptive titles to con you in devoting your

(00:30):
money away. We literally are looking at fraud, and of
course the judges in the state of California, they benefit
from it because they're all liberal judges and they like
their big salary hikes invension spikes, so they've been colluding
with the political establishment. The billionaires don't care. Oh wait

(00:54):
a minute, now, they somewhat care, because there's a tax
specifically going out after them, at least in round one.
But don't kid yourself when they say it's a billionaire's tax. No, no, no,
it's in everybody's tax. They're coming for you. So I'm

(01:15):
going to go through the list of tax increases that
they're cooking up, but more importantly, I'm gonna explain how
you can help stop them. Go to the website Election
Guide California dot org for our full voter guide every
single county, and it does link up to this discussion
on tax increases. One of the things that people like

(01:36):
about our voter guide at Reform California is that we
give you a plain English description of what the ballot
measures actually do, and we do the red flag on
all the tax increases. So there's over three hundred local
initiatives on the ballot statewide in the June primary, and
we expect there will be close to five hundred initiatives

(01:56):
on the local ballot in the general election. Of the
two hundred plus that we have right now, three hundred
right now in the primary. Ninety primary ballot measures across
the state are tax increases, most of them hidden with
deceptive titles, So we flagged all ninety. The one that

(02:21):
I think is the most egregious is right here in
Southern California, measure Er. Like the show Er, it is
a massive sales tax increase, which is a regressive tax.
It hurts working families the hardest, the low income residents
the hardest, and it's nothing more than a backfill. Oh,

(02:42):
they say Trump caused us to put the tax increase
on the ballot. Trump took our money. No, that's a Lie,
Karen Bassoura and all the other local Democrats that run
the show in La County have allowed wasteful spending. They've
given away salary hikes and pensions bike to the government unions.

(03:02):
They have lined the pockets of developers and all sorts
of other campaign contributors. They have bloated the bureaucracy. They
have all these DEI staffers running around. They're spending exponentially
more money even though their population has declined. They have
outstripped inflation, and they still can't make ends meet. So

(03:29):
they have measure er on the ballot and they describe
it as a measure to prevent people from losing health coverage.
They can easily prevent people from losing health coverage if
you just stop building that overpass for the wildlife, and

(03:51):
if you had just thinned the herd. When it comes
to government employees, what's on the ballot in November is
truly scary. First and foremost, if the Democrats keep their supermajority,
there are tax increases that are not even on the

(04:12):
ballot that are going to happen. And so the only
way you stop these tax increases is by voting out
Democrat Assembly members and state senators by breaking the supermajority.
They don't have two thirds vote in Sacramento. They can't
enact these taxes. The number one tax that they're going
after to raise to impose on Californians, it's not the

(04:32):
billionaire's tax that's on the ballot. That'll be a ballot
measure we'll talk about in a moment. No, no, no, no.
They want to impose are you ready for it? A
mileage tax? Oh yeah, oh yeah. They already got the
gas tax, they already got the car tax. Now they
want a mileage tax six to nine cents per mile.

(04:54):
The average driver drives about fifteen thousand miles a year
six cents. That's nine hundred dollars. That's on top of
gas tax and car tax. A typical two car family
in southern California will have to pay about when you
add car tax and gas tax to the mileage tax.

(05:20):
Assuming both cars just do fifteen thousand miles, and some
of the drivers in California do more than fifteen thousand
a year, you're talking about forty five hundred dollars just
to pay taxes for the privilege of driving on crappy roads.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
The Carl we need to fix the roads.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
We need a mileage tax to fix the roads. You're
not fixing them with the gas tax.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
But Carl, gas tax revenues are dropping because of electric vehicles.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
Lie. The budget numbers are clear. We have not seen
a drop in gas tax revenues because they keep increasing
the gas tax, so the revenues have not gone away.
They want the mileage tax because they just want your
money and they will lie, cheat and steal in order

(06:08):
to get it. And they want to do a two
thirds vote in the Assembly in the state Senate to
impose that. They're also looking at a payroll tax and
exit tax, another income tax. They already have the highest
utility taxes in the nation. All of these taxes are
coming down if the Democrats maintain their supermajority. Now what's

(06:34):
on the ballot. They have a measure to extend an
income tax hike that has really caused people to move
out of the state of California. Oh, I'm not talking
about the billionaires tax. We're going to get to that
in a minute. And it's not the billionaires tax. It's
see everybody's tax. Start calling it what it is, and
everybody's savings tax. But one of the measures on the
ballot this November would extend the highest income tax rates

(06:58):
in the nation indefinitely. There's no such thing as a
temporary tax, you realize that, So this would extend what
they called a temporary tax some seven or eight years ago.
That has resulted in top earners fleeing California, and at

(07:19):
the even the suggestion of a billionaire's tax, a whole
bunch of other top earners have fled California. The top
one percent of income tax filers in California account for
thirty eight percent of all income tax paid. Think about that,

(07:40):
top one percent of income tax filers produce thirty eight
percent of all income tax revenues. You lose just a
couple of those people, and it's a sucker punch to
the budget. Democrats always say, we don't have enough money
in our budget to give out the salary hikes and
the pension spikes and to grow the bureaucers to light

(08:01):
the puckets of our special interest masters, the contributors. So
we need to raise taxes for more money so that
we can give it away. Well, you raise the tax rate,
and what happens. People who have the ability leave and
so you actually don't get more revenue, you end up
getting ready wait for it, less revenue. It's like a

(08:26):
death spiral that these people are in. They don't even
realize it. And who remains people who are poorer and
are using government services more, The people who rely on
government welfare are the ones that are left in California.
The people who are providing the tax increment to support

(08:48):
the programs, they're packing their bags and leaving. Rinse and repeat,
Rense and repeat. It is the sick death spiral of
California's state budget poverty. That's our future, financial collapse. That's
our future, not more revenue, not prosperity, absolute disaster coming up.

(09:12):
I'm talking about the billionaire's tax, what it really is,
how it would it impact you, and how we can
block it even if it gets a majority of votes
this November. Do you know that we can actually stop
it even if it gets a majority of votes and
we got a plan that's right.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
As Carl Demyo fills in for John, you're listening to
kfi AM six forty on demand.

Speaker 2 (09:30):
Carl Demiyo sitting in for John Coblt onfi AM six
forty and on demand on the iHeartRadio app through five o'clock.
We are talking about various tax increases that California politicians
are trying to impose on you. A lot of them
are imposed at the ballot, on the ballot with deceptive titles.

(09:50):
So get that voter guide that we publish, the plain
English voter guide at election guide California dot org and
share it with your friends and family. That's election Guide
California dot org. One way to stop the tax increases,
break the Democrat supermajority in Sacramento by voting out your
state assembly member or your state senator. They're going to

(10:12):
try to do a mileage tax that's coming literally in
the next year and a half. They already authorized to study.
They don't study something they're not going to do. They
look at payroll tax increases, which means less jobs. They
want an income tax increase, they want exit taxes. They

(10:32):
want also to throw a bunch of fees on your
utility bills. I'm fighting of an insurance tax that they're
putting on. Oh yeah, the insurance tax killing us. And
they want another one on top of that. But now
they've got something on the ballot in this November. They've

(10:52):
got one measure to extend the income tax heike. Hopefully
we vote that down. But another measure would create a
whole new form of taxation called a wealth tax. This
is what's inside the Billionaire's Tax initiative, but it's not
the Billionaire's Tax initiative. It's the everybody tax initiative. It

(11:14):
creates this wealth tax. And what is that, Well, it's
a socialist dream. The income tax that you're familiar with
is a tax on what you earn. A sales tax
is a tax on what you spend. Gas tax is
a specific type of tax on a product you buy.
On top of the sales tax, property tax you already

(11:38):
pay that every year. In fact, we pay the highest
property taxes in most states in the nation because well,
our property values are so high even with Prop thirteen.
But the wealth tax is a tax on what you
have saved. What is your home value today? You'll be
paying a tax on that, even though you haven't realized

(11:59):
your value old your home. But they're going to come
and say, well, we think that if you sold your
home in this market, you'd get this amount of money,
So we're gonna tax you on that. It's a tax
on your four oh, one K and any stocks that
you own. It's a tax on your savings account, you're
checking account, any cash you might stash in your mattress.
So I call it not a wealth tax, it's a

(12:21):
savings tax. But you know what the lying, greedy politicians say,
We're not going to try to tax the middle class.
Only the super rich are gonna pay this tax. Really,
think back to the nineteen tens. I know, you know,
back when Nancy Pelosi was reaching her retirement age. Most
of us weren't here in the nineteen tens. But the

(12:43):
historians will verify what I'm saying is true. The politicians
amended the US Constitution to allow the federal government to impose,
for the first time ever, an income tax. And what
did they say back then, Well, Nancy Pelosi went on
the stump and she said, it's only for the rich.

(13:05):
Everyone pays the income tax today. So when they say
a savings tax is only for the billionaires or the
super wealthy, Nope, they're coming for you. In fact, there's
a provision inside the initiative. The Billionaires Tax has a
provision that says, at any time, the legislature, with the
two thirds vote, can apply the wealth tax to anyone else,

(13:26):
You don't say, And that's what they're after. That's what
they've wanted all along. When they say they're not going
to tax you, run, they are lying. These people make liars, cheats,
and thieves look honorable. So how do we stop them. Well,

(13:47):
we've got a couple ways to stop them. One, we
can vote it down. But you know what people like
to bang up on billionaires billionaires bad, yes, stick it
to them. So I'm not so sure that this initiative
won't pass. I think actually it passes. Oh but hold

(14:08):
on a second. Even if it passes, we've got a
plan to stop it. No no, it's not going to
court and begging a liberal judge to or overturn the
will of the voters. No, no, no, no, no, no
no no. You see, we helped collect signatures on two initiatives,
the savings tax Stop the savings tax initiative which goes

(14:29):
under a couple different names like Protect the Retirement initiative,
but it's basically stopped the savings tax. That's the first initiative,
and the second initiative is audit special taxes. Both of
these initiatives will likely be on the November ballot. At
the same time, it's the billionaire's tax coming up. I'll
tell you what is inside those initiatives that will cancel
out any wealth tax or savings tax from being applied

(14:53):
to you. All that and more coming up. As Carl
de Mile fills in for John coblt.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
You're listening to KFI AM six four on demand.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
We're talking about tax increases. There's a bunch of them
on the ballot. But recognize when you're voting for a
Democrat member of the State Assembly of the State Senate,
you're literally voting for a tax increase, because as long
as they have a supermajority two thirds of the Senate,
in the House the Assembly, they can administratively impose a

(15:24):
tax increase on you. The gas tax that we are
living under right now, that goes up every single year,
the highest in the nation. The cap and trade tax,
the mandates on our electricity, all of the taxes, the
car at tax, all were done through the legislature, not
a vote of the people. As long as they have

(15:44):
a supermajority, they can tax the hell out of you,
and they will. But when it comes to ballot measures,
that's when we have to make sure people get that
plain English voter Guide, Election Guide California dot org and
Guide California dot org, so they know where the tax
increases are hidden so they can vote them down. And

(16:06):
we got to go on the offense. And that's what
we're doing to defeat the wealth tax, the savings tax
that's contained in the so called Billionaires Initiative. It's an
everybody's initiative, not a billionaire's initiative. We have helped a
coalition of a variety of groups put two good government

(16:29):
initiatives on the ballot, and it's all about tax reform,
but it also kills two birds with one stone. It
not only reforms taxes to hold government accountable, but it
also kicks the billionaire's tax out, the savings tax out.
So the first initiative does exactly that directly. It's titled

(16:51):
Protect Retirement Savings and it would eliminate any ability to
tax your equity savings. The second initiative says, audit special taxes,
and it requires that whenever a special tax is levied,
like a savings tax, when it goes on the ballot,

(17:14):
it must first include an audit of the fund that
would receive the revenue to make sure that, well, are
we giving a fund revenue more revenue at tax increase
that well, it hasn't been properly spent as is, where's
the previous money gone? Are politicians siphoning the money off?

(17:35):
Or I'd love to have an audit special tax on
the gas tax that would be suspended in an instant
because they've been siphoning the money off the gas taxes
for so many years. That's why our roads are so crappy.
So these two initiatives are both likely to qualify for
the ballot because we've submitted our signatures this week. It'll

(17:57):
be on the same ballot as the billionaire's tax. Let's
suppose all three initiatives pass. What then happens is if
there's any initiative that conflicts with the other initiative, And
in this case, the first initiative that I told you

(18:19):
about says you can't do a savings tax full stop,
so that would eliminate the billionaire's tax. The second initiative says,
if you're gonna do a special tax like the billionaire's tax,
you must first audit the fund that would receive the revenue.
That did not happen here, and the Audit Special Taxes
initiative says, this initiative shall apply to any other tax

(18:41):
increase on the same ballot. So how do you sort
out conflicting measures? If either of our two initiatives get
one more vote statewide than the Billionaire's tax, even if
they all get a majority vote, If our initiative, it
Special Taxes, which has like seventy percent support, gets seventy

(19:05):
percent and the Billionaires tax gets fifty one percent, the
Billionaire's Tax is dead and the Audit Special Taxes initiative
it passes. And it would be wonderful to actually get
Audit Special Taxes enacted, because there's a whole bunch of
special taxes out there that need to be audited. We

(19:27):
need to make it harder, not easier, for politicians to
get our money. We need to hold them accountable for
the money they've already been given, because you know damn
well that they have siphoned it off and wasted it.
The other initiative that we are going on the offense
on is save Prop thirteen. This is an initiative that

(19:50):
was drafted by the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, my good
friend John Coupaul, and it does a number of important things.
Number one, it restores the two thirds vote to enact
local tax hikes. That's a game changer because right now
it's a majority vote because the politicians and the judges
of the state colluded and opened up loopholes and Prop thirteen.

(20:11):
We need to close the loopholes by restoring the two
thirds vote on local taxes. Secondly, it will ban property
transfer taxes. You know that LA has the worst property
transfer tax ula measure ula. They said, Oh, if we
do a property transfer tax every time people sell their

(20:32):
house and we take a rank off the top of
five percent, like you know, real estate agents get a commission, Well,
government wants its commission. Double the real estate rate. Will
solve homelessness. How's that working out for you, Los Angeles?
Oh have we solved homelessness yet? Oh? These liars, cheats

(20:54):
and thieves, they get away with it every time. Some
of these Democrat voters, they literally are like, I can't
believe that Trump did all this homelessness because of Trump.
We have all the homeless here.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
Because of Trump.

Speaker 2 (21:07):
I'm getting gray hair because of Trump. I've got more
wrinkles than I did fifteen years ago. Then that's what
Karen Bass told me it's not my fault, it's all
Trump's fault. It's not Karen's Bass's fault that Palisades burned down,
and that she was in Africa while it all happened. Oh,

(21:27):
it's all Donald Trump's fault. Blame Trump. They wasted all
of our money. Now they need a tax increase. Blame Trump.
Some voters aren't gonna learn, but enough I think recognize
that the cost of living is at a crisis point
in California and we cannot afford to give another penny

(21:51):
to politicians. And that's why I am relatively confident we're
gonna win the tax fight this year. The cost of
living is insane. Democrats know it's a problem. They're going
to vote with us. Independence and Republicans obviously know it's
a problem. They'll vote with us. We just need to
make sure that we break through the false and misleading

(22:13):
ballot titles are going to put on these initiatives when
these get on the ballot, And that's why you need
to get your hands on the plain English voter guide
at election guide California dot org and share it with
your friends. Election guide California dot org. We're putting all
of our eggs in the basket of that secret weapon

(22:33):
to make voting simple. And if you make voting simple,
more people will vote and turn out on our side.
Turnout is everything in midterm elections. The Voter Guide is
our key election guide. California dot org Coming up, We've
got this city council member here in LA that wants
to allow non citizen illegal immigrants to vote in all

(22:56):
of our elections. And you knew that this was coming right.
All that and more.

Speaker 1 (23:01):
You're listening to KFI A six forty on demand.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
It's been great these last two days having this opportunity
to give you an update on what we're doing at
Reform California, what I've been doing in the California State
Legislature to fight to turn the tide to restore some
sanity here in California. But it's not me, it's you,
it's all of us. That's how we're going to get
this done. So in this last segment, I'm gonna talk

(23:26):
about our California Voter Idea initiative and this crazy initiative,
this crazy proposal from Los Angeles City Council Member Hugo
Soto Martinez to allow non citizens to vote in elections
going forward. Aren't they already voting? Yeah? But before I depart,

(23:49):
if you want to be part of the fight, get
off the couch and into the streets. We will help you.
We'll let you know what to do, how to fight,
we'll give you the tools, work with you. But if
you don't do it, no one's coming to save us,
all right, No White Knight's galloping in to save us.
We're gonna have to save ourselves. Reform California dot org

(24:11):
is where it all starts. That's the website to go
to Reform California dot org. And also, you know, John
has played our clips pretty routinely. Each week. Every day
I put a new clip up of what's going on
behind the scenes in Sacramento. We're spilling the tea. We
got the video. We have them dead to rights and

(24:34):
this is stuff that the liberal media will not cover
that's going on in the halls of power. So follow
me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or I'm sorry, I guess
it's called x now, Twitter or TikTok, and every day
you'll get one of these videos and you'll know what's
going on and you can share it. It's how we
bust through the bias of the liberal media, in addition

(24:57):
to John's great show every day here on AM six
forty KFI. So this guy. Council Member Hugo Sodo Martinez,
a Democrat socialist Los Angeles City Council says that he
wants to allow non citizens to vote in all local elections.

(25:18):
He's not the only one that's proposed that San Francisco
did it for school elections. Santa Anna put an initiative
on the ballot in the last election, which we helped defeat,
that would have done it for their city elections. If
you think that this is not going to happen, it's
going to happen unless we passed the California Voter ID
Initiative this November, with the help of more than eighteen

(25:39):
thousand volunteers statewide, we got one point four million signatures,
we submitted them, and last week we got the official notice.
We're on the ballot the California Voter ID Initiative and
you can learn more about it at voter ID Initiative
dot com Voter ID Initiative dot com. It requires number one,

(26:00):
that we properly maintain our voter lists and that the
voter lists have to now be audited every two years.
That's that's a new requirement that we're gonna put in.
We're gonna audit the quality the accuracy of our voter
lists before we mail out ballots. We're gonna audit the list.
Isn't that refreshing. It's gonna save us a ton on

(26:21):
postage because a lot of people have moved out of
the state of California. Two million people get ballots who
no longer live in the state of California, and wonder,
I wonder where those ballots are going. The harvesting groups,
the NGOs like Churl Lah, all these left wing NGOs
funded by your taxpayer money, harvesting ballots with no adequate

(26:45):
signature reviews based on an outdated voter file. Well, we're
going to clean up the voter file and audit it. Second,
we're gonna require citizenship verification, which means mister Hugo Chavez
what's his name, who go solo Martin, Yes, he will
not be able to implement his proposal. Sorry, buddy, but

(27:05):
elections are for citizens only, full stop. You're blocked, and then,
of course, voter I d that when you return your
ballot you verify who you are, either in person with
a photo d or mail in ballot. Last four digits
of any government document of your convenience has to be

(27:26):
a legitimate government document. You don't have to put your
Social Security number on your ballot. That is a lie
that Democrats are trying to spread. And so this is
not hard at all to implement. We don't put the
burden on the voter. We put the burden on the
government officials to do their damn job. But you know
darn well that Democrats are going to give this the

(27:48):
worst ballot title they can imagine. So I'm going to
need your help as a volunteer, as a contributor chip
in five bucks, but at least sign up at the
website to learn more about what we're doing with this
campaign in the next five months. Voter ID Initiative dot com.
Voter ID Initiative dot com. If you don't do it,

(28:10):
it ain't happening. I'm just telling you that. Right now,
people say, quarrel, what do we do to fix California.
Here's what we do, and then I hear silence. Try it.
The people who thought we couldn't get voter ID on
the ballot get the million signatures on a shoestring budget.
They're like, wow, that's amazing, good job. I'm like, yeah,

(28:30):
uh huh. So now that we did this, you didn't
think it was possible. Would you at least help us
in the next round, which is passing the darn thing.
If you're not already on the list, I give up,
but I need you. You don't have to leave this state.
You don't have to flee. You can stay and fight.
Go to Voter id Initiative dot com and get the

(28:51):
voter guide at election guide California dot org. Election Guide
California dot org, lots of stuff at Reform California. We're
leading the fight to take back this state. We're not
giving it up, but we need your help. All right,
Carl Tomo out, but we have lou Penrose coming up,
and John Cobelt will be back. My good friend, John,
thanks for joining us.
