And we've got two rounds of the Moistline coming up
at around five twenty or so and five point fifty right,
two runs of the Moistline.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
But first.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
Boyle Heights. The fire that started in Boyle Heights which
burned down the U the Lineage Logistics refrigeration plant and
inside that, inside the refrigerators, eighty five million pounds of
rotting food. Do you know how little they've taken away.
(00:57):
They've taken away three hundred in fifty six tons, which
may sound like a lot. It is a lot, but
that's seven hundred thousand pounds and there's eighty five million pounds,
So this is.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
There's not even one percent of the amount of food
they have.
Speaker 1 (01:17):
That's rotting, and it's you know, swarming with flies, the rats.
Even the La Times says the rats are feasting. Can
you imagine there's rats probably coming in on jumbo jets
landing at Lax taking the metro, finding the way to
(01:38):
Boil Heights. All their friends and relatives that said, you
wouldn't believe.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
This, Well, that's a way to get this cleaned up.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
We got yet, let the rats handle it.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
God, not only three hundred and fifty six tons of food,
eight hundred and thirty five tons of debris and waste.
Speaker 3 (01:55):
You know what? What you know? All the fire damage?
Speaker 1 (01:59):
Now, where is the spoiled rotten food being taken.
Speaker 3 (02:05):
Value? People in the Semi Valley. You won the lottery
on that one.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
The Semi Valley landfill, they're bringing literally tons of it
in the El Sabronte Landfill in Corona in Riverside County,
and a hazardous waste facility in Rialto. And San Bernardino
County has matt TSDF so Seami Valley and else and
(02:31):
Corona and Rialto are the winners, and the residents, the
people still stuck in Boil Heights are still dealing with
the odors and the rats and the flies.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Now.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
It took three over three weeks, but finally lineage came
up with hotel and rental assistance voucher, and they are
delivering more air purifiers and air conditions, air conditioners, and masks.
(03:11):
They've already distributed six hundred air purefires. That's not much.
There are tens of thousands of people that live around there.
Two thousand masks. Don't they have more masks from the
COVID hysteria. They didn't news spend like a billion dollars
on masks? What happened to those? By the way, I
(03:34):
was leaving work yesterday. I don't know if you saw
this guy.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
I'm leaving.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
I'm going through the front double doors.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
The guy guy wearing a mask.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
Maybe he had and he didn't want to spread it,
big black mask.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
It's ninety six degrees yesterday in Burbank.
Speaker 2 (03:52):
But you know what, if he's ill, then that's nice
of him.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Well, I think there's an illness, but uh, they're handing
around nursery store vouchers and.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
Listen, all right.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
So the Air Quality Management District South Coast Air Quality
Management District, they got fifty four complaints about the air
on Monday, one hundred and fifty one on Tuesday, two
hundred and sixty four on Wednesday, more than two hundred
on Thursday. As the heat increased, the stink got worse
because I guess the food started rotting more rapidly. You'd
(04:26):
think after a month, like every single molecule is in
a state of rot. So the South Coast Air Quality
Management District is going to start fining lineage logistics. There
is a set of rules which is supposed to keep
this from well, it's supposed to force the companies to
(04:49):
clean up their mess. And the penalties range from one
thousand dollars to seventy five thousand dollars a day. I
guess per violation. It's not clear in this half assed
story that they wrote in the in the Times. And
and now Hilda Salase is trying to uh she was
(05:10):
she was like laying in state for a month. She
knew anything. She's the supervisor that covers Boyle Heights. And
she said, well, you know, we've been canvassing seven hundred
homes near the facility to ensure the county has a
complete understanding of the impacts. Maybe will you give them
a survey, give them a ride to a hotel and
(05:34):
pay their hotel bill. They don't need a survey that
they've got to fill out. We've got to try to
have an understanding of the impact. The impacts are this.
They have been able to breathe for a month, between
all the smoke and the toxic chemicals and the rotted
food and now the rats. They just want to go.
(05:55):
Let them go to an ice hotel. Get them some
room service and get them an ice hotel. Get them
some the swanky ones in Pasadena on July fifteenth and sixteenth.
Teams other corporate people always like to talk.
Speaker 3 (06:10):
About their teams high teams.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Yeah, yeah, answer. These teams will document the residents concerns.
You got seven hundred complaints this week. Just read them.
Why do you have to go over their house and
write it down again? Moron, give them a ride.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
Hildes Elise should bring one of those SUVs that they
all have and start driving them out.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
Well.
Speaker 3 (06:39):
Answer questions.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Yeah, connect families with available resources and gather information to
inform public health decisions.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
It's too late.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
They breathed them the toxic chemicals, even after Karen Bass
said the air is not dangerous.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Too late.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
What's done is done. Their their lungs are polluted. You know,
the cancer cells are probably already forming. My God, everything
that happens. The response is idiocy everything. Yeah, fire and Palisades,
it's idiocy. The fire and boil heights, it's idiocy. Alright,
(07:19):
We've got some paperwork we'd like you to fill out.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
I just.
Speaker 1 (07:27):
I'm baffled by the world. We're gonna do the moist
line coming up. And then also, I know you've been
covering this in the news, but boy, you're the CEO
of a major fast food company. This is the worst
headline imaginable. Tainted taco bell ingredient source of explosive diarrhea, parasite.
(07:54):
Time to take the golden parachute. I think the quarterly
earnings call is going to be a little sad. It's
the cyclosporiasis. And you know what I'm giving up lettuce.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
Well, you don't eat lettuce anyway, but I'm giving it up.
I eat it, and I'm giving it up now.
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Do not eat lettuce unless you want what arey explosive
diarrhea for the next two weeks of your life.
Speaker 5 (08:25):
You're listening to John Cobelt on demand from KFI AM six.
Speaker 1 (08:30):
Forty After Debver's news, we will talk about the UH,
about the UH, the recall of the Iceberg lettuce Taylor Farms.
They're saying it was Mexican lettuce, but they were supplying
it to Taco Bell in the Midwest. They're trying to say, hey,
it's it's not that much lettuce. It's not all our lettuce.
(08:52):
It's just a little tiny percentage. So we'll get to
that after Devers's news, But first, more importantly, here the
moistline eight seven seven moist eighty six. If you want
to call in next week eight seven seven moist eighty six,
or use that talkback feature, let's go round one man
joistline to hear from you.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Bath time once again. Karen Baths missed the mark.
Speaker 6 (09:18):
And thought everybody was going to be happy and jovial
because she's Karen Bass and she's there.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
To watch out for them.
Speaker 7 (09:25):
Well, guess what, they've already heard your story. It's called
the Pacific Pala State Fire.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
They know what you did there, and you're doing the
same thing in boil height.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
You let the burn, you let.
Speaker 1 (09:37):
It almost get out, and then you offer them purifiers.
Speaker 8 (09:40):
Well, hell, all the smuck's done.
Speaker 7 (09:42):
They don't need purifying anymore. I can't believe that the
mayor had people clapped once and then clapped twice. Can
you believe it? Grown people acting like they're being trained.
Speaker 8 (09:54):
Unbelievable. It's not the mayor.
Speaker 7 (09:56):
So come on, John, if you're happy, and you know what, James.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Come on John, Joanne, if you happy and you know what.
Speaker 6 (10:05):
Karen Bath is not a leader.
Speaker 9 (10:07):
That demonstration she gave us about clapping.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Your hands if you want to listen, that's.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Not the mark of a leader.
Speaker 9 (10:14):
Her presence alone, if she was a great, powerful mayor like.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
She says she is, would be enough.
Speaker 5 (10:21):
To calm those people down. People of Los Angeles, November,
you have a chance to vote for a new mayor.
Speaker 10 (10:27):
Karen Back is not in.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
If you live in Los Angeles, thank you from the
bottom of my heart for re electing Karen Bass. I
know she's not re elected yet, but you people know.
Speaker 11 (10:38):
Who you're going to elect.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Keep that mess.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
Keep that horrible stench, the corruption.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
The incompetence in La Keep at the out of San.
Speaker 9 (10:49):
Diego, mister John, welcome back.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
Hey. There were numerous chemicals.
Speaker 10 (10:54):
Released from that plant because of the burning process. I
mean it's astronomical, man, including hydrogen cyanide released by the
high density foam that was burning.
Speaker 8 (11:06):
In the walls.
Speaker 10 (11:07):
People were breeding that I was terrified for my friends man,
and she was flat out lying.
Speaker 11 (11:14):
John, I am really getting worried.
Speaker 8 (11:16):
About you, and I'm very afraid you're.
Speaker 11 (11:18):
Going to have a heart attack. Govern needs to calm
me down a little bit. I know the sucks, all
of the homeless craft that you're dealing with and all
of the money that we don't know where it went.
But guess what, you are doing your best by letting
people know. But please watch out, take care of yourself.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
I've got a couple of choice named for these people
that are in political positions, but I know there's kids
listening too, so I'll pass on that one.
Speaker 7 (11:45):
They're just political failures, man, That's what they are.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Political failures.
Speaker 9 (11:50):
Clack once.
Speaker 11 (11:50):
If you want to get reelected, clack once.
Speaker 3 (11:54):
If you want to get re elected.
Speaker 12 (11:56):
All those people who are doing basketball heights, they better
have voter first, suprass because if they did it.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
I don't know what else you can talk about. They
did it ten.
Speaker 8 (12:04):
Thousands of psychopath Who would do that? Bring a Mariachi
van you an emergency that is so offensive?
Speaker 11 (12:12):
Wow?
Speaker 13 (12:14):
Hey, John, I know you have a secret crush on.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Karen Math and I just love your love affair so much.
Speaker 5 (12:20):
Admit it.
Speaker 7 (12:21):
She's your secret crush.
Speaker 11 (12:23):
John.
Speaker 6 (12:23):
I am so glad you are back.
Speaker 7 (12:25):
I missed it anyway. La is a third world country.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
I mean it's a show.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
Hey, new name for Karen Maths, Lord of the Fly.
I think the problem's actually a little bit different.
Speaker 9 (12:38):
You gotta look at the water our houses.
Speaker 12 (12:42):
Water drained through septic systems near the farms, then gets
watered on the planets.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
That's it. It can happen anywhere.
Speaker 7 (12:50):
When they're showing these watch parties for all these soccer games.
You have the different locations, you know, at the sports
arena or whatever places. Who are people that don't work?
There's thousands of people at all these evamps. No one
works anymore. What the hell's going on?
Speaker 3 (13:07):
No?
Speaker 7 (13:08):
Can you answer that, bonto or they're all right?
Speaker 3 (13:11):
A merger between.
Speaker 7 (13:13):
These two companies would be awful.
Speaker 6 (13:15):
People would lose their jobs right and left, and if
it didn't happen, they'd lose.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
Jobs anyway, because both companies will survive.
Speaker 7 (13:22):
So totally different than Spirit Airlines.
Speaker 11 (13:24):
Thank you for leaving your message.
Speaker 8 (13:26):
Please hang up.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Do you hear that lady you're supposed to call?
Speaker 12 (13:29):
Right?
Speaker 1 (13:29):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (13:30):
My responsibility.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
Yes, you're you're supposed to keep me from having.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
A heart to you don't listen to me.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
It's up to you, don't. You don't calm me down, clearly. Uh,
that is the moistline. That is an excellent oistline.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
We're going to have round two coming up, uh after
Deborah's well after about five fifty after Debor's news. Two
things only because this story is probably going to fade
away after the weekend. But Taco Bell has been as
identified that it is the lettuce. It's from Taylor Farms,
(14:09):
which is a California company, but they got the lettuce
from Mexico. They want to make that clear. It was
Mexican lettuce, not California lettuce. So we'll go through that chain.
And then a WAYMO customer is sitting in a car
when the car gets attacked and there was no he
(14:32):
was trapped inside. There was nothing he could do. And
this is increasingly a problem with Weimo you are you
are completely helpless and it's it's I started laughing, but
this guy was in a complete panic.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
It was really scary. We'll talk about it we come back.
Speaker 5 (14:53):
You're listening to John Cobel's on demand from KFI AM
six forty.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
If I Am six forty live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.
John Cobelt's show got the second round of the moistline
coming up in just a few minutes. First round was
especially good. Re live on YouTube. Subscribe, become a member
of YouTube dot com, slash at John Cobelt's Show, and
in a half hours, just after six o'clock you can
get the podcast. So whatever you missed earlier in the
(15:24):
program you can hear again. It's the same as the
radio show, John Cobelt's Show on demand, all right.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
First thing.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
Is they have finally figured out what happened to cause
all that there was a lot of diarrhea in the
Midwest in the last few days, thousands of people with
explosive diarrhea, which is the worst kind watery diarrhea, and
some people got really seriously ill. And it turned out
(15:56):
it was a parasite and it causes cyclosparia, and the
FDA sent investigators and they found that it goes all
the way to Mexico. Somewhere in central Mexico there was
a lettuce farm and the lettuce got tainted with poop.
(16:19):
They shipped the lettuce out Now. I don't know exactly
the chain of command here, but the company is is
based in Salinas. Taylor Fresh Foods ironic name. They said
only their iceberg lettuce was tainted and it represents less
(16:43):
than one percent of the iceberg lettuce supply. Whatever this farm,
whatever iceberg lettuce is delivered to America, this farm in
Mexico was only responsible for one percent. So Taylor has
removed all Iceberg lettuce from the region, meaning the Midwest.
(17:06):
This was mainly Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania and nearby states.
They have production facilities all across the US, Canada, Mexico,
western Europe. They also supply produce to Burger King of
McDonald's and they put lettuce in bags and in salad
kits in addition to fresh produce. Thirty four hundred cases
(17:30):
in Michigan alone, one hundred people hospitalized, sixteen hundred people
total have gotten cyclosporiasis, and there has been one death.
But it all goes back to the farm in Mexico,
and Taco Bell of course, is mortified because no one
(17:52):
knows who Taylor Farms is, although you could buy some
of their bag products under that label, but it's all.
This is going to be the Taco Bell diarrhea scandal,
and all they could say is the health and safety
of our guests is our top priority. If someone decided
that's like some kind of all purpose protection when it
(18:15):
comes to the lawsuits.
Speaker 2 (18:16):
Yeah, I mean what else are they going to say?
Speaker 3 (18:18):
How much?
Speaker 1 (18:18):
How much are they going to pay out for somebody
with two weeks of diarrhea? Like what's that word?
Speaker 11 (18:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (18:24):
But would are they the ones that are going to
be responsible? Is Taco Bell responsible or is it?
Speaker 1 (18:29):
Yeah, they're going to be one of that. Yeah, everybody
gets hit. Taco Bell probably is the wealthiest company, I
would guess, and they're going to have to make a
mass settlement here. Well, that's I'm sure they have a
lot of insurance. I mean, you run a food business, yeah,
food born illness. But what really hurts is not so
(18:52):
much the lawsuit settlement. But it's just going to be
their business is going to take a hit for quite
a while. I mean, one of my sons, when he's
on the road playing baseball, the team off and stops
at Taco Bell.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
I loved Taco Bell when I was a kid.
Speaker 4 (19:08):
You did, Oh my god, Yes, I would have two
tacos and a burrito, like every week he used to
eat me.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
I did. I was a kid.
Speaker 3 (19:18):
I have asked you this, but I forgot. What was
the moment you switched.
Speaker 2 (19:21):
When I realized what I was eating?
Speaker 3 (19:24):
Well, you're eating me.
Speaker 2 (19:25):
Yeah, I know.
Speaker 4 (19:26):
But when I when I ate a drumstick and I didn't,
I was a little ignorant.
Speaker 2 (19:31):
I didn't really I didn't really think about it.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
Didn't think it was a real chicken ball.
Speaker 2 (19:36):
I just didn't think about it.
Speaker 3 (19:37):
I just chicken leg. When you were holding it. What
did you think that was?
Speaker 2 (19:40):
I just I really didn't put it all together.
Speaker 3 (19:43):
I just ate it. Maybe you never told me. I
don't remember this that.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
So you're holding the chicken leg and you're biting into it,
and then you realize, oh, I just bought it, bought
into a chi.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
That's one of the reasons. There are others, but that
was the moment. Was one of the moments.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Yeah, that's weird. No, I can't imagine.
Speaker 1 (20:04):
I mean, I can't imagine like biting into a cheeseburger
or cutting a reb I steak. It's like, oh, I'm
eating I'm meaning a chunk of a cow here now aren't.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
I Well, you used to be in a cow.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
Yes, but that's true.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
It's like I know that you knew going into the
meal that it was a chicken.
Speaker 4 (20:23):
I didn't think about it, you know, I mean, you
don't what did you say it was?
Speaker 2 (20:27):
I just I'm eating chicken.
Speaker 3 (20:30):
Yeah, that's good. Wait, which is an animal?
Speaker 11 (20:34):
I know?
Speaker 4 (20:34):
But I was, I was like, I was, Okay, I didn't.
I didn't really How old were you? I think I
started being a vegetarian my little maybe late teens.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
Oh you're not a kid, and you're late.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Oh, but I started thinking about it earlier. And my
Taco bell days. I was twelve twelve.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
It's old enough to know what animal you're biting into.
Speaker 4 (20:58):
Well, I was having shredded meat whatever it is, the talk.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
About whatever that is?
Speaker 3 (21:04):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
I gave up a Taco bell when I found there
was an article that only I think thirty eight percent
of the meat was meat, the other sixty two percent
unknown filler. Yeah, all right, now, the Weimo story. Let
me let me just start playing this. It's long, but
you'll you'll get the idea here. San Francisco business owner
(21:28):
used to be a big WAYMO fan named Sherman Watson.
He's stuck in a Weaymo when some crazy guys start
attacking the car, and he he just was terrified play play.
Speaker 13 (21:41):
They sitting at the intersection front seat by myself. I
saw like I would categorize him as.
Speaker 3 (21:47):
Like twenty five.
Speaker 13 (21:48):
He started walking towards the car and I'm looking at
him and he's getting into the intersection. And his first
thing he did he grabbed the front bumper and he
jerked it up right then I kind of froze.
Speaker 14 (21:59):
Moment later, Watson says, another person joined in. He says
the two began attacking the vehicle.
Speaker 13 (22:05):
The smashing began right away, and they were doing it
in tandem, so one would come up together.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
Would go grab something.
Speaker 13 (22:12):
They put this that weird foam thing on top of
the hood and then they climbed up. They almost actually
breached the windshield.
Speaker 14 (22:20):
Did they cracked the windshield?
Speaker 3 (22:21):
Cracked the windshield?
Speaker 13 (22:22):
Yeah, just bashing it like objects, kicking it, jumping on it.
So I called nine one one. Weimo actually came on.
Speaker 14 (22:30):
Watson says he was stuck in the car watching it
all unfold when someone from WAIMO came on the overhit speaker.
Speaker 13 (22:37):
The only thing they said is we realized there's a
problem with the vehicle. I said, yes, someone's trying to
kill me. Can you get me out of here? Their
response was no, the car's obstructed, and I said, I'm
literally looking in front of me on the street. There's
nothing blocking me. Please get me out of here.
Speaker 3 (22:55):
Sorry.
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Oh my god.
Speaker 14 (22:59):
It's not the first time Waymo vehicles have been targeted.
Videos posted online showed driverless cars being vandalized, tack with graffiti,
and even set on fire. Back in the car, Watson
says he repeatedly pleaded with the company to move the vehicle.
Speaker 13 (23:20):
While I'm having this conversation, smash smash, smash, and I'm
just like, is this where it ends.
Speaker 14 (23:27):
Watson says it took San Francisco police about thirty five
minutes to get there, and then the elected attackers were gone.
Speaker 3 (23:35):
All right, you can stop it there.
Speaker 1 (23:43):
I didn't realize Wayma won't even unlock the car and
let you out.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
I've never been in one of those.
Speaker 3 (23:49):
I would never do that. Oh my god.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
He was talking about they put a phone thing, that's
what you do. Somebody else put a put a traffic
on orange traffic cone on the hood. Of a weimo,
and that frozen weimo doesn't know what to do when
it sees something on the hood, so it stops and
locks everything up, and the stupid voice comes over the intercom.
Speaker 3 (24:11):
It's and he says, they're trying to kill me.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
Sorry, sorry, so against our protocol here, there's nothing in
the manual.
Speaker 3 (24:19):
Oh, there's no amount of money I would take away.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Mo oh, and then the San Francisco Police takes thirty
five minutes to show up.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
Good lord. When we come back round two of the moistline.
Speaker 5 (24:31):
You're listening to John cobelts on demand from KFI AM
