Speaker 10 (03:18):
The spread quick with Brett's reps for nb Pro Show
podcast It's a mixtape. Power from both sides of the
plate is important when it comes to run production. In
this case, we are talking about switch hitters. We're talking
about a father and son duel that could deliver I
mean some serious home run power. Cecil Grant Fielder, he
(03:40):
was a right handed batter, and his son, Prince Semion
Fielder hit from the left side. Both brought a lot
to the game in a relatively short amount of time.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Let's dive in.
Speaker 10 (03:51):
Many folks don't realize that Fielder actually made his Big
Lead debut at nineteen eighty five with the Toronto Blue Jays.
He actually helped him win the division title that year
in his rookie season and got a double in the
American League Championship Series. Those first four seasons in the
big leagues, they're pretty quiet for Fielder, as he played
very spearingly behind a couple of lefty bros in Willie
(04:13):
Upshaw and Fred McGriff. Fielder felt he was an everyday player,
so he left the country.
Speaker 2 (04:19):
Yes, he left the country. We'll talk more on that.
Speaker 10 (04:22):
Prince Fielder, like his dad, made his big league debut
at age twenty one, this time with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Milwaukee brass knew they had something special in the future,
so they made him their regular first baseman beginning in
two thousand and six. Speaking of becoming a regular first baseman,
Cecil Fielder went to Japan back in nineteen eighty nine
(04:44):
to get his reps. He figured something out, and he
came back to the States with the Detroit Tigers and
went on a hitting tear three of the next four seasons.
He was an All Star, never hitting less than thirty
homers in a season while collecting at least a hundred
and seventeen runs batted in each year, as well as
a very special nineteen ninety fifty one homers and one
(05:07):
hundred and thirty two runs batted in. Nobody had a
fifty home run season in the nineteen eighties. The last
guy to do it before him another bro That was
George Foster back in nineteen seventy seven. Back to fielder,
though Prince a fifty homer season in two thousand and seven,
a league leaving one hundred and forty one runs batted
(05:29):
in two thousand and nine.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Three All Star appearances for Milwaukee in a five year span.
Speaker 10 (05:35):
Including All Star MVP hores in twenty eleven. He was
that guy in the center of the Brewers lineup the Tigers.
They meant a lot to the fielders, as Cecil hit
eighty five homers in his last two and a half
years there. I say half because he was built to
the New York Yankees at the trade deadline of nineteen
ninety six and fielded not only returned to the playoffs
(05:58):
for the first time since nineteen eighty five, but helped
the Bronx Farmers win their first.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Title since nineteen seventy eight, his son Prince.
Speaker 10 (06:07):
He was an All Star for the Tigers as well,
playing in every game for Detroit in twenty twelve and
twenty thirteen, fifty five homers and two hundred and fourteen
runs batted and combined. A trade would send at the
time a very durable Prince fielder to the Texas Rangers,
but injuries would ultimately end his twelve year career after
(06:28):
his year and a half Yankee run Cecil played for
the Angles and Rangers, but retired after thirteen Major League seasons,
nine All Star appearances between them, along with five Silver
Slover Awards. They're the only father son duel to each
have a fifty home run season. We said earlier that
they had power in a very even manner. That's because
(06:49):
they finished their career each with exactly three hundred and
nineteen home runs.
Speaker 3 (06:54):

Speaker 2 (12:13):
Bet back at you. Thirty five and fourteen on a year,
Let's get it.
Speaker 14 (12:18):
Our first matchup takes us to Saint Louis, Missouri, Friday,
where we have the Los Angeles Dodgers versus the Saint
Louis Cardinals Bros. Jordan Walker getting the call up for
Saint Louis after a great start to August in Tripaa
looks for him to be an impact for the Cardinals
down the stretch. Friday, we have Tyler Glass now on
the mound for the Dodgers. We also have to return
(12:38):
the Mookie best this week. Maxix monksly looks to be
returning Roe soon for the Dodgers as well. For the
Dodgers to really start to click down the stretch as
that lineup gets healthy, Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
Take care of business on the road in Saint Louis
as they roll.
Speaker 9 (12:51):
Over the cars.
Speaker 13 (12:52):
Ryan keep firing.
Speaker 14 (12:54):
Our next matchup takes us to Anaheim, California Saturday, where
we have the Atlanta Braves versus Lost Angelus Angels of
Anahei Rose Michael Harris returns to Atlanta Braves line up
this week. Should help them with the defense and the
speed on the base pass Saturday. Chris Sales on the mouth,
guy's been lights out all year. Saw young candidate. I
think he takes care of business, cools those Angels bats.
(13:16):
He would be hard for them to figure out. A
town rolls in Anahei.
Speaker 13 (13:19):
Ryan keep firing.
Speaker 14 (13:21):
Our last matchup is the Battle of the Bay on
Sunday in Oakland, San Francisco Giants versus the Oakland A's.
Oakland has really been swinging the bat, scoring eight or
more runs eight times in twenty one games.
Speaker 2 (13:35):
Sunday.
Speaker 14 (13:35):
I think they meet their match. Blake Snell guys just
been pitching incredible. I think he cools those bats down
of the A's as the Giants finished off the A's
on Sunday.
Speaker 15 (13:46):
This is your man.
Speaker 2 (13:47):
Ryan Holt signing off at Emily Drove dot com.
Speaker 13 (13:50):

Speaker 2 (14:42):

Speaker 1 (14:44):
And we cover Viver Richly I deal with So Jackie
Roberson can't risky phully the black aces. There's only fifty races,
so don't ask us why we don't cover other races.
The NRB trope flow has started in the basement. The
black Man in Matroto racing in the porch. Elrodoton is
out in black like Balcos. He's off to the racist
ten minutes in Miami making moves that have a Flakris comment. Chillson,
(15:08):
Jordan Walker, Mason, Win Saint Louis to the dome at
least at the game to gain the green tick, can
stock the sticks.
Speaker 2 (15:15):

Speaker 1 (17:35):
When we say but it it means around the basis,
the skills of Basis are dominating the games way in
minor league vacations. You know Blivia's spaces. He caught cases,
he stole basis and the smiles for bakers like Jordan
Hicks when he moved to the starting rotation and her
degree when he started challenging the main man. It's all
about the ms MARKUSII and Marcus Stroman Mookie Betts Bross
(17:59):
role with both exploding. Jap Cruffin has the madness in
the mix. Doctor stickens on the strips and Stitch on
a pitch my glove hitch him. Like the eighties, Alan
Wickins showed Figgins Mi cal Giffins. That's how we live
in the future living Kyvin Patters, we laying all thickts molasses,
Kobe crashes in Calambassis, both rots some ashes looking Mookie Betts,

a turn back to lineup at the eight weeks on
IL for a fraction left hand Monday Nights game versus
Milwaukee Brewers, Bess looked like he's never skipped to be
He went two four with three RBI and one bro
bomb in the top of the third.
Speaker 11 (20:11):
A two round homer into deep blatfout field.
Speaker 17 (20:13):
Bets was able to get points on the board after
eight weeks, despite the Dodgers sitting with seventy wins at
this mark.
Speaker 11 (20:19):
Mookies wanting to key piece to the lineup.
Speaker 17 (20:21):
He can do everything on the defensive end, from outfield
to second base and shortstop. Offensively, before his injury, he
was first second in the league at hits, runs in
bad and average, which makes the Dodgers team so lethal.
Win it betags to scoring with that loaded up line up.
Great to see the super team back together. Keep going showtime.
Speaker 4 (20:40):
For more right now, go to mlbbrew dot com.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
MIKEL.
Speaker 4 (20:44):
Matthew here with MLB Brewing.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
I'm here to let you know what's popping.
Speaker 18 (20:50):
It all started when justice was served to another baseball
winning the first inning, Aaron Judge knocked in his league leading.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
Forty five a run to give the Yankees a two
one lead. What's better than one MLB bro going to work?
How about two?
Speaker 18 (21:10):
And we saw exactly that and yesterday's Yankees versus Blue
Jays matchup. But not to be outdone, fellow MLB bro
Trent Grisham knocked in his own two run homer to
give the Yankees a four to one lead in the
second inning. The two MLB bros combined to go three
(21:34):
for seven with four RBIs in the Yankees a three
win over the Blue Jays yesterday. Of course, we know
the Yankees are a team to watch, especially with bros
like Judge Grisham and even Jazz Chisholm Junior, who can
erupt any game.
Speaker 6 (21:56):
And that's what's popping.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
For more right now. Go to mlbbrood dot com.
Speaker 19 (22:05):
Managers make the big bucks, get credit for success and
face the blame when the team wins or losers. However,
coaches that work with players every day are the ones
that are grooming the stars of today and tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (22:20):
So what's the deal.
Speaker 19 (22:21):
It's the boy the MLBO g Mark Gray and I'm
going deep for the mixtape. Minnesota Twins third base coach
Tommy Watkins is the outfield guru somewhere near the waters
of Lake Minnetonka and has had a major impact on
a career of players like Byron Buxton. His positive energy
and smooth personality helps Calhoun stay in tuned with the
(22:44):
new generation that.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
I think it's starting to be cool again.
Speaker 20 (22:46):
And you know they say let the kids play, mother,
They're starting to see guys have fun, and I should
encourage young people to play more.
Speaker 19 (22:54):
Watkins founded the Tommy Watkins Foundation, who, according to the
websites mission is dedicated to providing social, athletic, educational, and
scholarship opportunities for youth in need in his hometown of
Fort Myers, Florida, where he's trying to give the chance
for a new era of players who will someday make
(23:15):
it to the show.
Speaker 20 (23:17):
I created it just to get back to my community
where I was born and raised, or any community that
I'm a part of.
Speaker 19 (23:25):
Like Minneapolis, after seeing baseball lose it's cool with younger bros.
The Twins third base coach now season game where speed
and athleticism is resonating with.
Speaker 4 (23:36):
A new generation like a diggable planets.
Speaker 21 (23:39):
Track.
Speaker 20 (23:39):
Probably took a step back from being cool, but I
think you're starting to see it again, especially with the
speed in the game off the games being quicker and
just the distilling of the bases and stuff like that.
I think it's starting to be cool again.
Speaker 19 (23:53):
For more information on Tommy's foundation, log onto Tommy Watkins
dot org. That's Tommy Watkins dot common spelling. It's the
mlbog Mark Gray and I'm going d for the mixtape.
Speaker 5 (24:07):
Here's a bro you need to know from mlbpro dot com.
A bro you need to know is slugger Chris.
Speaker 22 (24:15):
Davis best spelled khrs and Chris Davis in twenty eighteen
led all of Major League Baseball in home runs.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
Chris Davis broke into the.
Speaker 23 (24:30):
Big leagues in twenty thirteen with the Milwaukee Brewers, and
he ended the year with eleven home runs in one
hundred and thirty six at bess with a slugging percentage
of five ninety six. Davis's best year was in twenty
eighteen with the Oakland A's. He had a major league
leading forty eight home runs and one hundred and twenty
(24:53):
three RBI. That came after twenty seventeen, where he hit
forty three home runs and had one hundred and ten
RBIs and had also completed three straight years of over
one hundred RBI for.
Speaker 2 (25:09):
The Oakland A's.
Speaker 23 (25:11):
Davis struggled at the plate after that, wound up going
to the Texas Rangers and then back to the Oakland
age to finish.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
His major league career.
Speaker 23 (25:21):
But Davis had two hundred and twenty one lifetime home
runs with five hundred and ninety RBI. We know about
Chris Davis's power, but probably one of the craziest stats
we ever saw in twenty eighteen, he batted two forty seven.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
That marked the fourth.
Speaker 23 (25:42):
Consecutive season in which he batted to forty seven.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
That's why Chris Davis is a bro.
Speaker 9 (25:52):
You need to know.

Speaker 24 (26:12):
Lamont Wade Junior showed in twenty twenty three how valuable
he can be as a long term first basemen in
San Francisco, and at the age of thirty, he continues
to just get better and better in all facets of
his game. Last season, Lamont Way Junior put up a
one to twenty two weighted runs created plus and a
three to sixty expected weighted on base average, both career
(26:36):
bests up to that point. This season, however, Wade has
uped both of these tallies to a one thirty waiter
runs created plus and a three seventy expected weight on
base average. Wade has improved from great to amazing this season,
and his improvements are not limited to the bat. The
zero outs above average at first base is a plus
(26:57):
three improvement from last season, making him an improved defender.
And a devastating hitter at the same time. These simultaneous
improvements have combined for Lamont's one point six fangrass War
total in just eighty four games, nearly matching his total
of one point eight last season in one hundred and
thirty five games. With an on base percentage of over
(27:20):
four hundred, Lamontway Junior is one of, if not the

my weekly column, Diamond Cuts. You wouldn't expect me to
be talking about Barry Bonds here on Classic Kids.
Speaker 2 (32:12):
The man is arguably the greatest player whoever lived.
Speaker 25 (32:15):
His resumes feats for itself the twenty two seasons of
unparalleled excellence, with fourteen All Star Game appearances, seven MVP Awards,
eight Gold Gloves, two batting titles, and a list.
Speaker 2 (32:25):
Of records longer than the Golden gate Bridge. There was
a time when historic.
Speaker 25 (32:29):
Baseball feats were called Rufie because someone was reaching levels
that only the Great Bay Roof had before. Now some
of the Roop's marks have been beaten, but in the
modern era, folks are chasing.
Speaker 2 (32:39):
Barry and not the Bay.
Speaker 25 (32:41):
This week's episode of the Mixtape drops on my birthday,
So indulge me while I look back at one of
the marks that Bonds set on my big day. On
US eleventh, two thousand and one, Bonds, that's something he
had never done before. At the age of thirty six,
Barry hit his fiftieth home run of the season, top
of his career best of forty nine.
Speaker 2 (32:57):
From the previous year.
Speaker 25 (32:59):
The homer came in his one one hundred and seventeenth game,
breaking Sammy Sosi's record.
Speaker 2 (33:02):
And becoming the fastest player ever to reach that milestone.
Speaker 11 (33:06):
During that two.
Speaker 26 (33:07):
Thousand and one season, Bombs will go on to set
the Major league single season home run record with seventy
three home runs while batting three twenty eight and leaving
the National League and on base percentage slugging OPS and
drawing an incredible one hundred and seventy seven walks while
breezing to its fourth MVP award. Over a five year
stretch from two thousand two thousand and four, Barry averaged three.
Speaker 25 (33:28):
Thirty nine with five point thirty five OVP and an
OPS of one point three one six. He walked eight
hundred and seventy two times, scored six hundred and fifteen runs.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Drove in five hundred and forty four, and hit two
hundred and fifty eight home runs.
Speaker 25 (33:45):
Because average season during that time included fifty two homers,
one hundred and nine RBI, eighty two extra base hits,
and one hundred and seventy four walks. No One in
baseball history has ever seen fewer hittable pitches than Barry Bombs,
and no one has done more with the ones he
did see. It remains one of the great injustices in
(34:06):
all of sports that Bonds hasn't received.
Speaker 2 (34:09):
His rightful enshrinement in Cooper style.
Speaker 25 (34:11):
For a young man who grew up in the shadow
his father, Bobby and his godfather, really Mays, Barry Bonds
continues to cast a shadow over the entire game of baseball.
While the game may ask us to forget him, ignoring
his excellence in his feats, Barry Bonds will look forever
the record books, whether the.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Hall of Fame acknowledges him or not. I'm David Grubb
and this has been classic. Kids. Now back to the
mix Age Report.
Speaker 13 (34:41):
Black Age Report, black Age Report.
Speaker 10 (34:44):
It's the black Age Report, black Age Report, black Age Report.
Speaker 6 (34:48):
What's up, everybody?
Speaker 27 (34:49):
This is justin patrully with the black Age Report on
the MLB bro Show podcast Mixgame. Here's where you get
the latest on the Melanie to mount marauders or shoveling
with precision and popping out all across the big leagues.
So let's check the report. Hunter Green's hot streak continues
to put the MLB on notice. He pitched on both
August eighth and August fourteenth and went a combined thirteen
(35:10):
innings and allowed a total of four runs, thirteen total strikeouts,
and picked up the win. In the ladder of his starts,
Green has had quality starts in each of his last
seven starts, as he's gone at least six innings and
allowed three or three runs, and every one of those
appearances he has produced an ERA of zero point nine
to eight in his scorching hot stretch. Blackjack Flarerty made
(35:30):
his debut at Dodger Stadium on August ninth, going five
and two thirds innings and allowing nine hits, four runs
while striking out ten battles. He also pitched a total
of one hundred and ten pitches, which of the most
he's pitched all season.
Speaker 6 (35:42):
He allowed more hits.
Speaker 27 (35:43):
And runs than normal, but it was still good enough
for Flarity to earn his second win as a Dodger.
Flarity will have the chance to go three to zero
to start a Dodger's career, as he'll be pitching on
August fifteenth in Milwaukee against the Brewers. After having an
out of this world stretch of starts from June eighth
to July twenty fifth, TODs Bradley has seemingly fallen back
down to earth.
Speaker 6 (36:03):
In his last three starts.
Speaker 27 (36:04):
He's only gone to combine fourteen innings and has allowed
fifteen earned runs, twenty one hits, and has only struck
out fifteen.
Speaker 6 (36:11):
Batters, earning the loss in each started.
Speaker 27 (36:13):
This ruugh three game stretch has brought in Bradley's era
up from two point four to three to three.
Speaker 6 (36:18):
Point four to nine.
Speaker 27 (36:19):
As the Rays are still fighting for a wildcard slot,
they will need their young flame throwder bounce back, as
he is key for any success down the stretch. Marcus
Stroman has bounced back in a huge way for the
Yankees as he's had one of his best starts in
quite some time.
Speaker 6 (36:33):
The strow Show pitched on August eleventh, and he went.
Speaker 27 (36:36):
Five innings, only allowing four hits and one run, earning
the win for the first time since June twenty second.
Stroman had his start before this one scratched to give
him a chance to clear his head and reset, and
it worked.
Speaker 6 (36:47):
Stroman will go again and try to keep it going.
Speaker 27 (36:50):
On August eighteenth, when he pitches at the Little League
Classic and Williamsport against the Tigers.
Speaker 6 (36:55):
That's the black Age report for this week. This is
JP the rook now back to the mix.
Speaker 2 (37:03):

mb Bros over the past seven days. This week coming
get at number five, we have Milwaukee Brewers closer Devin Williams,
who made the season debut last month and has been
lights out since Attorney. On Saturday, he punished out three
batters in the ninth and shut the door on the
Reds to get his first save of the year and
(37:33):
preserver one other victory for a squad up next.
Speaker 2 (37:36):
To number four.
Speaker 28 (37:37):
Twins third baseman Royce Lewis continues his power surch on Monday.
He collects two hits, including a two run home run
for his fifteenth of the year. His pro bomb helped
the Twins getting a three win over the Royals. Sitting
in the three spot, if you've got George s Bingger
who does it again? The bougets outfitter get another lead
our pro bomb for the fifty ninth of his career,
closing the gap on ligendary mb bro Ricky Henderson. James
(38:00):
went on to defeat the A's three to one, and
and number two this week the Washington National center fielder
James would show up big for a squad on Saturday,
hitting a solo shot and then later on hitting an
RBI double and then that's five for it. Come from
a high victory over the Angels. Finally number one our
Krits countdown. He's back Dodgers shows. Stop Moviie Bets. They
(38:21):
just turned to the lineup on Monday and hit a
two run shot in the second at bat, giving him
number eleven on the year, helping the Dodgers get the
five to two victory over the Brew Crew.
Speaker 2 (38:28):
The big story today is the return of number fifty
Marcus Lynn Betts.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
This is blasted left field. Indeed on the track, the
Mookie bets back with a bang.

you know, put on for the Nationals and my family.
Speaker 7 (41:02):
What was going through you?
Speaker 1 (41:03):
I had a couple of years back when you know,
I guess you had your heart set on playing for
the Padres and then you were.
Speaker 2 (41:09):
Part of that one soul of trade.
Speaker 7 (41:11):
What was your thought process during that time?
Speaker 2 (41:13):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (41:14):
I mean I just went with it.
Speaker 29 (41:15):
You know, things happened, and everything happens for a reason
in my head, So I just went with it, you know,

Speaker 29 (41:42):
I watched a lot of King Griff you kretting Niffe Junior,
you know, sweet swing highlights, Barry Bonds. Yeah, just I
didn't really watch much baseball, but those those two were
my biggest two.
Speaker 7 (41:54):
Well, you didn't watch too much baseball? So how did
you get into baseball? Your dad put you on that
baseball field.
Speaker 4 (41:59):
My dad, for sure.
Speaker 29 (42:00):
Ever since I could walk, I had a little hoone
bat in my hand South Ambler, you know, ever since
I could walk out playing baseball when I was like
four is my first team.
Speaker 2 (42:08):
And I fell in love with you. Rachel Hill always
had a school and she took us so first to third.
Speaker 30 (42:14):
With two MLB bros and a football player for six
years from Major seven to twelve, well Benson and Zabian
Curry played together on the Sandstone Red Sox youth baseball
team southwest of Atlanta. The lifelong friends met up again
as they were both players with the Cleveland Guardians in
the twenty twenty two season. A dream that both of
them had when they were young was to play in
(42:35):
the major leagues together.
Speaker 2 (42:37):
And they did.
Speaker 30 (42:38):
They both made their major league debuts two weeks apart.
Curry is a pitcher and Will is an outfielder for
the reds Now At the time, right after their debuts,
Benson said, We've been talking about this day forever.
Speaker 2 (42:50):
It's amazing.
Speaker 30 (42:51):
Curry said, that's honestly another blessing that I don't even
know how to describe. Their youth baseball coach Tony Douglas
had never seen one of his former players reached majors.
Speaker 2 (43:01):
Now he seemed two former.
Speaker 30 (43:03):
Sandtown Red Sox teammates no less in the span of
fourteen days. The Red Sox were a rec league team
that primarily played against other teams in Sandtown. For a
few of those summers, the Red Sox and Field featured
a defensive wizard named Justin Fields, who is currently a
backup quarterback with the Pittsburgh Steelers after previously playing with
(43:23):
the Chicago Bears. Justin used his baseball talents and went.
Speaker 2 (43:27):
In another direction. But they will never forget those.
Speaker 30 (43:29):
Days of playing when they enjoyed a good deal of
success on the travel ball circuit over the six years.
This is Rachel Hill with first to third for mlbbro
dot Com.
Speaker 1 (43:44):
