(00:22):
Wait on the Morning Line line up. All right, welcome in.
It is now Friday. It is January the tenth, the
year is and you on the grid. Welcome in Sports

(00:43):
Grid dot Com. I'm Joe Ornary, is the Morning Line
as we begin your day taking a look at everything
that happened overnight in the world of sports, and we
look ahead to what is going to be an amazing weekend.
Of course, it is what the countdoct has been gone.
It's it is football, both of the NFL variety as

(01:04):
well in a couple of days, the college variety, as
we looked to finally put an end to the question
of who is the best team in college football in
the country, and we will figure it out. That's coming
up just about one or the three or four days
away here on Monday. Now three days away, we will

(01:26):
decide that as Clemson and l S you get ready
to do battle. And before we get the Monday, of course,
we got a couple of games tomorrow, a couple of
games on Sunday, National Championship on Monday. It is the
It is the final time of the season until of course,
the end of the year when we get back to

(01:46):
September here. But let's say we'll have three consecutive days
of football here, guys, So let's take it out with
a bang. Let's make it a very profitable way out
the door of the NFL season, as the call edge.
College season will end as and we'll have a couple
more games left here before the big one in just

(02:06):
a couple of weeks right down the road from me
here in Miami, that would be the Super Bowl. And who, what,
where and how. We've got some headlines overnight that will
tell you, especially regarding the health of the Minnesota Vikings
all of a sudden. Also the Baltimore Ravens battling with
some injuries to a to a key player or two.
So we'll get you updated with what is happening there.

(02:29):
Plus the New York Giants introduced their new head coach
to the world, two giant fans everywhere and just like
we uh we let you hear from Matt Rule the
other day in uh in Carolina. And I don't know

(02:51):
that you could possibly have two different styles of interviews
here or press conferences. Rather to introduction press conferences, m
Matt Rule a very calm, very relaxed, very confidence, uh
kind of almost very church and sermon like when listening

(03:11):
to Matt Rule in his press conference. And then you've
got Joe Judge. Who um shall I say? Is I'll
let you here firm yourself that number one? Who am I? Well,
maybe I can explain that a little bit better, but
says saying who am I? By telling you what's relevant
this conversation with being a coach New York Giants. What

(03:32):
I'm about and what I'm about is an old school
physical mentality. Okay, we're gonna put a product on the
field that the people of this city and region be
proud of because this team will represent this area. We
will play fast, we'll play downhill, we'll play aggressive, We'll
punch you in a nose for sixty minutes. We'll play

(03:52):
every play like it is a history in the life
of its own, where the relentless competitive attitude. We'll play
fundamentally down. We will not beat ourselves as our mission
right here. I gotta tell you he was um fiery.
He was a lot of things yesterday. While him and
Matt Rule might be two different people, I can tell

(04:13):
you this, Uh both you could walk away going yeah
there there's a new era coming to Giant football. Uh
there is a new sheriff in town. And a lot
of what he spoke about yesterday in that press conference
is the complete opposite of what Giant fans have had

(04:35):
to endure here over the last couple of years, certainly
under oh, I don't know, guys like uh Pat Shermer
or Ben McAdoo. Uh. This is whether or not he
can pull it off remains to be seen. But if
he can get the likes of Daniel Jones and s
Kwan Barkley and uh you know Baker on defo whoever,

(04:59):
the best players are the young best players, this core
group Eli Mannings of the world are out. If he
can get the upcoming young stars of this team to
buy into what is guys, he and he said it.
He is a old school tough nose. The guy comes
from saban In Belichick. Uh, he wants team first, nothing

(05:23):
else matters kind of attitude, because that's really the only
way that you're gonna be able to win in the NFL.
It sounds great, it's it's exactly the opposite of what
what guys like Shermer and macadoo UH and others have
allowed to happen inside the giant organization. That is not
going to be the situation here. He's got a very

(05:49):
how do I put this, He's got a very um,
a very determined demeanor. He's also a guy that apparently
doesn't leave any stone unturned. He has not a guy
that feels that he needs to have his fingerprints in.
He doesn't need the coach, but doesn't need to be
to coordinator, doesn't need to be any of that. This
is a guy that gets it from the standpoint of

(06:10):
my job as a head coach for this team is
to put people in a position ultimately to succeed. And
how do we do that. We do that by making
sure he gets the right coordinators or he calls him teachers.
He made a comment yesterday, but I want teachers, I
don't want professors, which uh is interesting to say the least.

(06:30):
He wants this to be very similar to some of
the attributes that guys and veterans would talk about with
New England, that attitude of listen, we don't care what
you are outside of here or where you are someplace else.
You're either gonna buy in and you're gonna win, or
you're gonna make it all about yourself and you won't

(06:50):
last very long here anyway. So the same kinds of
things that guys have learned in the New England aspect,
where like, if you come here, you don't matter, the
team matters. Uh. If he can get Daniel Jones and
company and others to buy into that, then he is
going to be successful with the New York giants in
this market. He is, without a doubt, very very, no nonsense,

(07:15):
very He is very passionate. He's also a guy that's
highly intelligent. So I can understand, having come from Ben
McAdoo and UH and Pat Shermer, I can understand why
walking into that interview there with the Maras and company
where he just blew them away, because he is absolutely
the opposite of what those meek and very timid guys were. Uh.

(07:41):
The Odell Beckham Jrs. It's a good thing he's not
here because he would not last with this guy. There
will be no watches worn on the field. There will
be no more me me me I I I new,
no no new. It's a new era in giant football.
So should be excited about that. Giants man can't wait
to see how it works out. All right, more on

(08:02):
what's coming up here this weekend. We'll do that next.

(08:36):
Here it is the morning Line. I'm Joe Nary, it
is Friday. Congratulations, as we get you ready for a
monster weekend in the world of sports. We got a
lot of NBA Tonight short card last night, a lot
of NBA Tonight. Getting ready with a with another monster
card of uh college hoops here in full effect, heading

(08:57):
into the weekend where divisional play continues. As we march,
we march on our way to a crazy and I'm
telling you what is gonna be a crazy March Madness
this year, one of the most wide open March Madness
bracket challenges. I think that we're going to have seen
it a very very long time. And the reason being

(09:20):
is that, UH, to me, outside of half a dozen
teams that are that you would think are good, they're
they're good, But we don't have any elite teams here.
And I can tell you now what happens over the
next month, it's gonna go a long way in determining

(09:40):
who really in that middle of the road pack. UH
is going to be able to make a run at this.
And I do believe there is going to be an
opportunity for a mid major program this year, places like
Dayton for instance, Butler, Uh, there is going to be
an opportunity for some midm age of programs to make

(10:01):
a run at this come March. But a lot is
going to depend when you look at teams like the
defending champion Virginia Cavaliers and Tony Bennett and company. What
happens over the next thirty days, the next month of
basketball is going to going to tell us a lot
on whether or not these teams that you just think

(10:22):
are good because they've always been good. They were good
last year. UM, there are no elite teams this year.
That's the bottom line. There are no elite teams. And
if you've spent any time over the last couple of
weeks watching basketball college basketball, then you know exactly what
I'm talking about. Don't look any further. The last night
the Big Ten, there you had a couple of double

(10:43):
overtime games across with some big name programs like Oregon
taking on Arizona, UH. That game goes into overtime, Michigan
at home, laying five and a half points, had to
go to double overtime to take down per Due, didn't
cover but won the game. And a lot of back
and forth. Here your teams like Louisville UH, teams that

(11:06):
you know, teams that you think are gonna be really
really good, and then once you say they're really really good,
then what happens? They end up losing two out of
their next three games. So it's the teams that can
put it together, figure out their identity now and in
compredence play make a run for it. UH. That is
gonna go a long way in helping determine what's gonna
happen in March, so we'll get you uh. We will

(11:28):
certainly keep you abreast and get you caught up with
everything that you need to know in college basketball if
you haven't had a chance to focus on it now
at the holidays, our past, and now of course that football.
This would be the last big weekend UH in football,
National Championship Monday, wild, uh not wild, the conference and
division champions here, Saturday and Sunday. Now we'll have a

(11:52):
couple of weeks off and then we'll have the Super Bowl.
So over the next week, I am sure if you
want to dabble into a little college hoops, you've out
us right here on the grid sports grade dot com.
We will definitely point you in the right direction and
get you caught up with everything you need to know.
Not just that, but also don't forget the NHL is
also in full effect all Star game just around the

(12:15):
corner for them, which is also very hard to believe.
That's January St. Louis, So the midway point for the
NHL is UH is fast approaching. We'll get you caught
up with what you need. There. A lot of teams
in the n H l um have already are on path,

(12:35):
are on are on pace to surpass what their point
total was last year. And there are a couple of
surprise teams thus far, certainly from a betting perspective, teams
that are dominating against their against the spread, the A
T S teams, very profitable teams UH this year in
the n h L, we'll have all of that for

(12:55):
you too. So it's a good time a year love
this where it's starting settled down a little bit and
we can really dive into, uh, the other sports that
we haven't had a chance to talk about, including the
NHL college troops. NBA will really start to shift some
focus into there. As last night we had a we
had the goodbye farewell tour for our for one Russell Westbrook,

(13:20):
who was finally for the first time, had an opportunity
to go back home. That's right, He went home to
the place that the only place that he had known
his entire career. There that was Oklahoma City, as the
Houston Rockets traveled to take on the Thunder part of
a back to back night for Houston there. Now, Russell
Westbrook didn't play the night before, but he did play

(13:41):
last night and hard to believe, he said it was
the very first time after spending eleven years in Oklahoma City. Uh,
it was the first time that he had ever been
in that building, in the in the locker room of
the visitor. He didn't even almost know what how to
get there. What we has gone on, he said, it
was very strange. But all in all, he said, he

(14:04):
tried to do everything he could to make it as
normal as possible. Good luck with that. I didn't get
this feeling off like I was nervous or like it
was weird. It's just like I felt like I was
playing like just like a normal game for me. Honestly, obviously,
what everything going on is not a normal night. Yeah, No,
it wasn't a normal night neither, while it was normal

(14:26):
for certainly for the Houston Rockets, who once again watched
watched James Harden uh chuck up nine shots, Uh not
make many of them in fact last night, so I
believe the the ass weapon was on there. Okay See
and Chris Paul and company said, hey, it's nice to see.

(14:48):
It's great. The fans treated him to a fair well,
and then okay See went out and simply dominated his
new team one third team to ninety two but again
he got a huge ovation. They There was never any
real animosity there with Russell Westbrook. It was always Kevin
Durant was the one who decided to leave them. It

(15:08):
just it ran its course with Russell. No hard feelings there.
He gave everything he had to the community and they
had a montage for him last night. It was very,
very nice, unlike when Kevin Durant came back for the
first time and they boot his ass off the court.
So okay, see, uh, not bad, much better than many
people thought they would be. But they got to win

(15:28):
last night. Uh to send Russell and Hardened packing there
one thirteen to ninety two. You also had a monster
matchup in the NBA East where the Philadelphia seventies Sixers
were getting ready to take on the Boston Celtics. Now
the Sixers got some bad news. Uh. It looks like

(15:49):
there's some some tendon damage with Joel and beat in
his finger that that ended up going the other way
the other night. Dislocated his finger, but he tore a
couple of ligaments. He actually needs hand surgery is what
they are reporting now, hand surgery. He is going to
be reevaluated in a couple of weeks, but basically means

(16:10):
he is out. Uh, he is out of commission for
at least the next couple of weeks as he does
have surgery to repair those tendons. That's not great news
for Philadelphia because, let's face it, as Embiid goes, this
team goes. And last night they had a They had
a big Eastern Conference matchup against the Boston Celtics, who

(16:32):
were reeling from a pure ass beat down from the
San Antonio Spurs the night before at home. So they
get to travel to Philadelphia to take on to seventy
Sixers last night and kind of wash the taste out
of their mouth. They're all in two against Philadelphia so
far this year. Philadelphia unbelievable at home and last night

(16:52):
was it gonna be? No m bead? Could the six
Could Boston finally get back on track after losing their
previous two games and take down a and beat less
seventy Sixers team? And the answer is absolutely not. They
once again got their asses handed to him, especially in
the closing minutes. They could not get it done. As

(17:15):
you're looking at Josh Richardson scored twenty nine one on
nine to was the win there for the Sixers as
they take down Boston, giving them now a three game
losing streak. That is right, three game losing streak. You
had Mike Scott, Al Horford, Tobias Harris, Richards, and Simmons
all dominating Boston last night. Who continues to just look

(17:37):
around and point fingers at each other trying to figure
out where it all went wrong? And it's going wrong
in a hurry, because if you can't beat the Sixers
without em Bead, you're gonna be very hard to ever
envision this Boston team putting it together and somehow another
being able to beat them in a four out of
seven series. They're coming up in the playoffs, So a

(17:59):
lot more questions and answered for the Boston Celtics right now.
With Joel Embiid at least a couple of weeks, you'll
be on the sidelines and they're hoping maybe Philadelphia can
make a little run here even without you can post
it here, We'll get you updated on the rest of
the scores last night in the NBA. Who made money?
Who didn't talk about that? Next year? On the Grid

done and that's really all that matters. So before we

(20:34):
dive into the latest numbers here for these games this
weekend again to tomorrow to one Sunday, one National Championship
game on Monday, I did want to just send a
shout out and make the uh and really shine a
light here on the New Year. And just how unbelievable

(20:55):
arrivy it has been now over the last year and
a half since the Preme Court had gone ahead and
said you know what, Nevada, uh and not the only
one that's gonna be allowed legalized sports betting, and the
growth has been tremendous and lost in the ridiculousness of
the wild card betting and UH and getting ready of

(21:17):
course for a college football championship and everything else along
the way. One of the under the radar sports betting passages.
Another state has joined us in allowing and passing legalized
sports wagering, and it's in the Northeast area. It happens

(21:39):
to be New England's fourth most populous state, and that
being New Hampshire. And if you haven't heard there, that's right, come.
I believe Redditt. New Year's Eve, somewhere around there to
or thirty one, legal sports betting went live in New
Hampshire and a core ing to the reports, New Hampshire

(22:03):
wagered I believe somewhere around three point five million dollars
in its first week of legal betting there and they
got more than I believe sixteen thousand new registered sports betters.
And by the way, the revenue there is going to
the the education system. Uh. DraftKings, I believe they are

(22:24):
friends of DraftKings signed a six year deal to be
the official sports book for mobile and retail betting in
New Hampshire. So they are now online. They are ready
to go. And of course, guess what happened. A boatload
of those that live in Massachusetts pretty much hopped in
their cars. And that's in a scary experience to begin with,

(22:46):
trying to drive around in New England and Massachusetts in
Boston there, but they all went to New Hampshire, guys.
And much like the issue in New York with New Jersey,
nobody's gonna drive up to Schenectity, uh to go ahead
and place a wager. It's much easier to hop on
a subway or a train and of course over into
New Jersey, pick up their phone, get the app, and boom,

(23:09):
place a wager. Much the same. And I think that's
why this snowball effect, guys, continues and will continue throughout
the year. That why in the world if your Massachusetts
would you go away a minute? So we got legalized marijuana,
like recreational marijuana. If I'm correct. I believe recreational marijuana
was passed in UH in Massachusetts. So but we are

(23:31):
now going to lose money and lose people to go
who are going to drive to the Hampshire to place
a bet on a game. And that's pretty much what
happened there. And of course I don't need to tell
you what the overwhelming majority of that three and a
half million dollars in New Hampshire. I want to know
where that money was bet any idea, anybody? Yeah, the Patriots,
that's correct, including hell. The governor even placed an eighty

(23:54):
two dollar wager I believe on the UH for the
Patriots to win the Super Bowl. That was losing proposition,
but he was the eighty second governor that that actually
signed off on legalized sports betting, so he made the
wager and they are off and running. Here, guys, there
is no slowingness trained down. And I wanted to send
a shout out to UM, you know, to New Hampshire,

(24:17):
to the rest of the sports investors in that part
of the country. It's not just Rhode Island anymore. They
were the only state at the particular point to be
able to pass that would allow sports betting, legalized sports
betting that is no longer the case now New Hampshire
joins them. So I do think it's just a matter

(24:38):
of time here, guys. Before a whole lot of other states,
including uh, you know, Massachusetts, which is by the way,
the most populous state in the area there and they've
already said, including their governor has already come out and
said they hope to launch sports betting mobile everything. They

(25:00):
to have it up before the end of the year.
They have a sports betting bill that is on the
floor I guess in the House and uh in the
um in the Massachusetts government there they have not passed
it yet, but it's there, and the governor says he
hopes to have it launched by the end of twenty twenty.

(25:20):
And of course also following suit in the last week,
how about Vermont. Vermont's like, oh really, so everyone else
is gonna Yeah, So Vermont now is introduced a sports
betting bill, and this is for the very first time
they have gone ahead and do it. They don't have
any cansinos, by the way, in Vermont, they got zero
casinos in Vermont's that bill would include only mobile sports betting.

(25:46):
So and the reason I do this is that we
keep doing this. Guy's New Hampshire now live. There are
fourteen legal states accepting bets, six others who have approved
legal betting but yet haven't launched, and we've got states
like Florida, and we've got another California is on the way.

(26:07):
There is at least according to my calculations, another ten
states guys that have already now submitted like Vermont applications
and uh they the ball is rolling this year in
order to be able to get legalized sports betting approved
in their states. So hold onto your hat. Here it comes.

(26:30):
Is gonna be an amazing year for the sports betting
industry and for those of you that are dabbling in
it for the very first time and maybe introducing yourself
to it and seeing what this is all about. I
can promise you this the chances of you profiting increased
greatly by hanging out with us here on the grid

(26:50):
at sports grid dot com. Uh And it also, I'm
gonna tell you this, the idea of instead of buying
a twenty dollar quick pick in a lotto machine, air
or scratch off, I'm fairly certain that same twenty bucks
if you're taken and hang out with us here. Listen
to what we have to say across the board on
all of these shows, probably gonna be a much better proposition.

(27:15):
The odds are gonna be in your favorite. Actually take
that twenty and invested and make a few bucks back,
as opposed to throwing it in a lotto machine there
and saying, oh, come on, one in seven and seventy
seven million and one, I got this. Uh yeah, no,
So we definitely appreciate you stopping by, hanging out and
get ready is going to be amazing. Welcome New Hampshire

(27:38):
to the Fray. Vermont will see you soon as well.
Massachusetts mobile betting looks like that too, is going to
be in New York. It looks like they have finally
figured it out and that hopefully the governor there will
include the correct numbers in the budget. He'll approve it,
and twenty twenty we'll now see the apps and mobile

(27:59):
bet become a reality for the residents of New York
and not just those who live in s connected it
so good stuff there. It is coming, guys. It's an
exciting and I mean an exciting time and you've got
to be excited because those in New Hampshire. No better
time then this weekend to get ready. Maybe go ahead
and placed that first bet if you haven't done. So,

(28:21):
you've got four football games on tappan the NFL, that's right,
four football games, two on Saturday to on Sunday, and
it's going to be very interesting. We've got some updated
reports from the injury standpoint, and you don't have to
look much further than the Minnesota Vikings here, who will

(28:41):
have the first game tomorrow against the forty Niners. And
there was reports yesterday, of course that Adam Feeling, the
the hero of that that wild card win against the
New Orleans Saints, a very important part of that offense. Well,
he's some sort of freak injury caused to have to
have uh stitches in an ankle, an ankle injury that

(29:05):
he got ripped open and he gets to get stitches.
And now since he had happened during Wednesday's practice, it
was a laceration they're saying that required a few stitches
to close. Now, so he sat out the team's final
practice there before their trip now to hop on a
plane and actually head to California here today, he says

(29:27):
he got a little tangled up but he says, listen,
I'm gonna do whatever it takes to be able to
get on the field with my teammates for this game.
But they're not sure. They haven't listed as questionable right
now on the injury report, so there is no guarantee
that he is going to go. There's a lot more
questions than there are answers are certainty regarding Adam Feeling

(29:47):
for the Minnesota Vikings and Stefan Digs. He did return
to practice yesterday, which is good news. He missed the
last couple of days apparently with the flu bug, which
is never good. But he too is expected. He's not
on the injury report, so that's good news. He did
get back on the field yesterday and he expects that

(30:08):
he will be a full go there on tomorrow actually
for this game. So still no Mackenzie Alexander in the
secondary for the Vikings. Also Jeron Curse listed as doubtful.
We'll talk about some of the other injuries coming up
for these teams and what it means next year on
the Grid Sports grid dot Com. I want to be

(31:19):
uh we are getting ready, of course for what is
gonna be a big divisional weekend here a divisional rounds NFL.
We told you that that Adam Feeling is now on
the injury report, so he swears they'll do whatever he
can to get on the field. But you know a
laceration took place on his at practice there on his

(31:41):
ankle that he does have stitches, So it remains to
be see what is what is going to happen there.
That would be a big loss for the Minnesota Vikings.
Not having Adam Feeling um on the field for them
would be a bit of a problem. Also, we had
heard about all week was Baltimore Ravens and they're running

(32:02):
back mark Ingram who missed practice early in the week.
He was limited to practice yesterday. He continues to try
and work his way back from a nagging calf injury.
They are saying that he is expected to obviously be
on the field tomorrow against the Tennessee Titans, but there
was a fear when he went down in week sixteen

(32:23):
that he had a torn achilles. And don't forget we
we watched this already play out with Kevin Durant and
how Kevin Durant. Of course, you know it was a calf,
it was tied and it was it was an achilles.
Now it was a calf. Uh, same type of situation,
non contact problem there for mark Ingram they say it's

(32:44):
a strain, but he felt a lot of tightness in
practice last week was the reports. He took some time off.
The only thing that can help that is rest. Does
he have enough rest? Will it continue to be a
problem remains to be seen. But I can tell you
he is a very big and important part of this
offense along with Lamar Jackson. There he rushed for over

(33:06):
a thousand yards. He had fifteen total touchdowns this year.
So he is somebody that if he can't go or
if he has limited that's going to be a problem
for the Ravens, So keep an eye on the mark
Ingram injury situation and update tomorrow before this game. So
that is definitely going to be something you are going

(33:28):
to want to You're gonna want to monitor before going
ahead and dropping a couple of shekels there on a
on a side one way or the other. And as
far as the markets go, here, guys, a couple of
things that you need to know. Number one, you need
to have a pretty good understanding of and we talked

(33:49):
about it last week, some of the trends that and
some of the things history has told us regarding not
only wild Card week, but of course division in all
rounds now, because now you've got teams that are coming
off bye weeks, teams that are home, teams that are
number one seeds, number two seeds, they it's been a

(34:09):
little while since they've played here. And we told you,
of course last week. A couple of things over time
have definitely stuck out to us. Number One, unders tend
to be extremely profitable in the wild card round. Keep
an eye on dogs. They also seem to uh seem
to be very profitable early on in the playoff process
in the NFL. And well, what about the division round.

(34:32):
What happens when these teams, these number one of two
seeds get back into the mix after a bye week.
And it's interesting because we've got four games between the
final the best eight teams left in the NFL, and
of course they're all fighting for a ticket to Miami
to play for a championship. But the way you've got

(34:57):
to look at this weekend, based upon what we o
in the history, is when you have teams coming off
a bye in this round, right, well, actually in the
regular season, we'll start their teams coming off of buy
in the regular season of the NFL, they've gone to
see to fifty and fifteen fifty two and a half
percent against the number, and they've only covered by about

(35:21):
a half a point. Now, that's since two thousand and five,
and that is regarding um teams coming off of during
you know, Week six, by they come back and they
play Week seven. That's regular season divisional rounds. In this spot,
teams that have gotten to buy, they've only gone twenty

(35:44):
seven thirty six and one against the number. That's guys
against the number. That's not a great return on investment either,
that's a that's a negative number. When it comes to
terms of putting money down and expecting money back. Uh,
those sixty four team, by the way, that have failed
to cover these games, they've done so by over a point,

(36:09):
like a point and a half, they've they've come under.
So it has not been great for the buy teams,
and it certainly has not been great for those backing
the bye teams against the number. Not saying winning straight
up or losing straight up, I'm talking about against the spread.
Not been great for those that that have gotten the

(36:32):
by now the numbers get even worse as we move
along here. For favorites in this divisional round, they have
gone just thirty six and one. They've failed to cover
by almost two points per game in that particular spot.
And if you have a favorite that is laying at

(36:53):
least a touchdown, which applies to Baltimore, Kansas City, and
San Francis Disco this weekend, those teams twelve twenty and one.
Thirty seven and a half percent cover for those teams,
and they have failed to cover by close to four

(37:15):
points a game. So I'm telling you this, it's not
a large sample size, so and this is not the
end all, be all statistic here, guys, it's just a
it's a snapshot of what we know about buy teams,
big favorites at this point in January, at this point
in the season. So the bottom line is what you

(37:37):
can pull away from that is the market. And again
keeping a mind us is all about markets, guys. It's
a buy low, sell high. That's the object of any market.
Sports investing is the same thing. Okay, you want to
buy a stock, I you want to you want to
buy it low, sell it high. Same concept here. What
it tells me is that the market, meaning recreational betters

(38:01):
the public money. They the books understand that. Yeah, they
are going to look and they have always been overvalued
at this point, meaning the novice better, the recreational better. Says, oh, well,
there are number one seed, there are a number two seed.
Uh wow, who cares? They're laying more than a touchdown?

(38:22):
They of course they're better, right, they didn't have to
play there, well rested, they're all good to go. So
what it tells me is that, yes, the books, who
are notorious for shading the line towards what they feel
the public is going to love and hammer one way
or the other. It tells me that we have a
ton of over valued teams over the years coming into

(38:45):
this divisional round because they are a top seed and
because they had a bye and again my advice is,
don't simply bet on a team because they had a
bye week ahead of the divisional round. And that is,
unfortunately something that's a strategy that a lot of recreational
bettors used that while Baltimore's number one, so they gotta

(39:06):
they're gonna win, right, they're playing a six seeds, gotta
be better, right, best team into it again, they didn't
play last week. They gotta be healthier. Do not do that.
Home field advantage, guys. The one thing we know about
home field advantage in the NFL over the last ten years,
it has the advantage has decreased over time. So it's
not getting better, it's not growing larger, it's diminishing over

(39:31):
the last ten years in the playoffs, teams and especially
look this year in the regular season, guys, how many
times do we have conversations about road teams, road dogs,
road teams winning covering? This year the numbers were astronomical.
So the idea that a team is home is nice,
the idea that they had to buy while it's nice,

(39:53):
truly has meant nothing from a profiting standpoint. The markets
over react, the professional bet or seemed to take advantage
of it, while the public continues to do what the
public does. They bet with their heart, they bet with
their eyes, they bet with their I got a one
seed versus a six seed. I've got to play the
better team. I don't care how many points it is.

(40:14):
So that's what we can pull away from those trends
and statistics that we just gave you. Also relevant this weekend,
teams like the Vikings, Texans and Titans. Right, all three underdogs,
three underdogs here this weekend with them all underdogs of
seven points are more. That's what those three teams have

(40:36):
in common. Underdogs in that spot where they're getting at
least a touchdown. They've gone thirty six, twenty four and
one since two thousand three. They have covered and cashed
sixty percent of the time. For betters didn't say when

(40:57):
not what I said? Cover They or sixty of the
time underdogs divisional rounds since two thousand three, you want
to give him a touchdown and more. That includes Vikings, Texans, Titans,
they cover sixty of the time. Guys, it is what
it is so. And again, I think that has way

(41:19):
more to do with the fact of teams in that
by spot being way way more of overvalued than they
should be. The public feeds into it, the books shade
the lines there. And again, if this time of year,
the object isn'tto bet a bad number, it's never any

(41:40):
object a better bad number. Right, you're betting numbers, not teams.
We say that all the time. Uh. If you are
laying an extra half a point or point in a spread,
come this time a year in January in the NFL,
that's that's why you're not going to be profitable. It's
the bottom line. Uh. And again, sixty of the time

(42:00):
we've seen you're gonna give a team at this point
in the season the final eight. You're gonna give a
team seven, eight, nine, ten points or more. Anything can happen,
just saying. Also, the Vikings probably in the toughest spot
schedule wise because of the fact that they played the
first game on Sunday and now they have to play

(42:21):
the first game on Saturday. They had to travel to
San Francisco for this game tomorrow. Um, that hasn't happened
often in the playoffs. But to those other teams, what
can we learn from that other teams that have found
themselves in that situation four and five against the numbers
since two thousand three, So it's meaningless as far as

(42:45):
a sample goes, because they haven't been that many teams. However,
it's just interesting to note that when we've seen teams
get to the divisional round who lose a day during
the week of practice, like Minnesota is four and five
against the number. So, Andy Reid, we know as far
as coaching, what does coaching matter when it comes to

(43:06):
this listen, Buys are overrated guys that we just explained
to you when it gets here in general for division weekend,
it's kind of it's kind of actually like that all
year long. But it doesn't mean that certain coaches don't
get more out of their team because of that extra week.
And we know that you've got four coaches right that

(43:29):
will be playing this weekend that had buys this season.
Two are among the top three most profitable by coaches
since two thousand three. And that's a hundred and nineteen
coach exhibit right there. And up those hundred and nineteen coaches,
you've got guys that have been the most profitable. Mike

(43:50):
McCarthy at the top of the list, guys ten two
and one in this spot coming off of by in
the divisional round, Dominates gets the most out of his
team number to John Harbaugh nine and three, six and
two at home, and of course Andy Reid eleven and six,
also six and three at home. Kyle Shanahan one and
two against the number Matt Lafour oh in one after

(44:13):
a bye. So this is uh. Some of these coaches
like Harborn read love and thrive off and giving them
that extra week of prep. Bill Belichick up there too
as well. However, Kyle Shanahan hasn't been greats with it,
and Matt Lafour has only had one season at the
Helm and he is over one. So Andy Reid, I

(44:35):
am sure we'll have his team ready to play the Texans.
The Texans and Bill O'Brien definitely not on there, but
teams same season revenge as well. Don't forget the Texans
beat Kansas City in week six revenge good for Kansas City. Well,
have more of this coming up here next hour on

(44:57):
the grid. As we look at Megan Rain good luck,

(45:41):
Morning Line, the New York Giants introduced their new head
coach to the world. Two giant fans everywhere and just
like we we let you hear from Matt Rule the
other day and uh in Carolina and uh, I don't
know that you could possibly have two different styles of

(46:04):
interviews here or press conferences. Rather to introduction press conferences.
Matt Rule a very calm, very relaxed, very confidence, uh
kind of almost very church and sermon like one. Listening
to Matt Rule and his press conference. And then you've
got Joe Judge, who um shall I say? Is I'll

(46:26):
let you here firm yourself that number one. Who am I? Well,
maybe I can explain that a little bit better than
says saying who am I? By telling you what's relevant
this conversation with being a coach New York Giants. What
I'm about, and what I'm about is an old school
physical mentality. Okay, We're gonna put a product on the
field that the people of this city and region be
proud of because this team will represent this area. We'll

(46:49):
play fast, we'll play downhill, We'll play aggressive, We'll punch
you in a nose for sixty minutes. We'll play every
play like it's a history in the life of its own,
where the relentless competitive attitude we'll play fundamentally sound, will
not beat ourselves. That's our mission right here. I gotta
tell you he was um fiery. He was a lot
of things yesterday. While him and Matt Rule might be

(47:10):
two different people, I can tell you this, Uh both
you could walk away going yeah there, there's a new
era coming to Giant football. Uh there is a new
sheriff in town. And a lot of what he spoke
about yesterday in that press conference is the complete opposite
of what Giant fans have had to endure here over

(47:32):
the last couple of years, certainly under oh, I don't know,
guys like Pat Shermer or Ben McAdoo. Uh. This is
whether or not he can pull it off remains to
be But if he can get the likes of Daniel
Jones and sa Kwan Barkley and uh you know Baker
on Devo whoever, the best players are, the young best players,

(47:56):
this core group Eli Mannings of the world are out.
If he can get the upcoming young stars of this
team to buy into what is guys, and he said it.
He is a old school tough nose. The guy comes
from saban In Belichick. Uh. He wants team first, nothing
else matters kind of attitude because that's really the only

(48:17):
way that you're gonna be able to win in the NFL.
It sounds great, it's it's exactly the opposite of what
what guys like Schrmer and McAdoo and others have allowed
to happen inside the giant organization. Uh, that is not
going to be the situation here.
