Speaker 1 (00:03):
Is the PHR and only gilt Hi guys, welcome to
the PhD. Booker here, Perez there, how do you do good?
Speaker 2 (00:21):
Today we're talking about Rihanna and drama with her relationship.
I've got an update on that. Also, speaking of relationships,
an update on Cardi B and her latest baby daddy,
plus music news. I always love talking about it. Ed Sheeran,
beloved by many, has upset a lot of fans. I'll
(00:43):
explain why. Also, Olivia Rodrigo is definitely getting it right.
And Charlie XCX has divided or has she people? I'm
not sure if she has. We'll get to that and more.
But first, before we even talk about anything going on
with us, her Mother's Day or whatever. Booker, as I've
said before, is a bit of a conspiracy theorist.
Speaker 1 (01:05):
That's not true. Yes, it is in what regard.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
He texted me a few days ago, and I made
a note to talk about it today. He thinks that
the haunt of virus is going to be the reason, said,
did you not tell you? Let me say it? You
texted this to me, He said, the haunt of virus
is going to be the reason that we don't have
elections this fall.
Speaker 1 (01:26):
Well, they'll probably be some bullshit reason. But I was
half joking when I said that, I don't think this
is that serious, the haunted virus, but we will have
another pandemic someday. We will have another something someday. But yeah, no,
I'm just kidding.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
I don't truly believe I thought you believed it, But I.
Speaker 1 (01:45):
Do believe that they will continue with the tom foolery
to fuck up this next election like they have with
this gerrymandering and redistricting and all this other crap. So
it's going to be some He's not leaving.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
If the haunt of virus situation, where we just found
out yesterday that one more person tested positive and another
one both Americans, is the other one is showing symptoms,
if this becomes bigger, you think it's going to be fake.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
What do you mean fake?
Speaker 2 (02:12):
You said tom foolery. I don't know what you meant
by that.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Well, I'm talking about the election. Oh okay, the jerrymandering,
the bullshit that they're doing. What's going on with that?
And God, discill bore everybody. But what's happening with politics
and the jerrymandering of these states is that states are
just unilaterally deciding, hey, we're going to change up the
districting and we're going to move things around to suppressed votes,
(02:36):
and they, in their minds give Republicans the advantage. So
they've done that in a handful of states. They, by
the way, they didn't ask the constituents, they didn't ask
the people. They just fucking did it. Okay, Typically they
don't do this until the census comes out, and it's
every ten years. Well, so Virginia, they go ahead and
they vote on it. As a population. They all get
together and they say, okay, we do we vote for this.
(02:59):
Two takes place. The court struck down Virginia, even though
that the people wanted it. The court said, no, no, no,
it's illegal. But what about in the other states, Oh no, no,
it's perfectly legal there. That's what I mean with the
tom foolery. It's just a load of bullshit. And they're
doing anything they cannot to give up this House and Senate.
And all they're going to do is make more people vote.
They're going to make more people go, well, well, this
(03:19):
is bullshit. They're going to lose in a landslide unless
they canceled the election somehow, which led me to my
text to you.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
I don't know. I feel like you might be living
in a bubble in Los Angeles. And I think that
a lot of people are really happy with the job
that Donald Trump and the.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Republicans incerting on Fox News is thirty eight percent. That
is the lowest in any modern American history good government. Okay,
that is from Fox News. They're propping his number up. Okay,
the real numbers are much worse than that. He's pulling horribly.
Nobody in America wants this war and everybody's tired of
(03:55):
paying in California paying seven dollars a gallon for gas.
So uh, yeah, it's not good. It's not good.
Speaker 2 (04:01):
Well, we'll see what happens. People think because I, you know,
love God and I've found this new relationship with him,
that I'm a Trump supporter and I'm not.
Speaker 1 (04:13):
Yeah, I don't think that. How about that, there's my
conspiracy theory. Yeah, I do not think that.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
I'm definitely not. And also because I went on that
podcast that Tommy Lauren and I was, you know, saying
that I think Ivanka Trump is a good role model.
I do believe that. I think I've said that on
our podcast before Yeah, AnyWho, Mother's Day was wonderful, and
so was my daughter's birthday. My middle child's Mia turned eleven,
(04:40):
and she is just an angel. I decided to do
something different for her birthday, which my mom said was
lame and she would not like, but my daughter ended
up loving it. I can't do a staycation right now
because my health is not one hundred percent. Like I
can't do four days of like NonStop events and activities
and shows and whatever.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Which is ridiculous again with but continue.
Speaker 2 (05:01):
That was fun. Maybe that era is over. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (05:05):
When I was a kid, my mom would get a
cake and my friends would come over and they'd sing
Happy Birthday, and that was my birthday and I turned
out just fine. If you consider this.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
Fine, well, I think expectations have changed.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
You know.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
Now if you throw a party, it has to be
such a big production.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
It doesn't have to be it doesn't It could be
anything you wanted to pawn, you know.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
So what I ended up doing is I said, you know,
you're turning eleven and I can't do a staycation, but
I'm going to give you one hundred eleven dollars. And
the catch is you have to spend it all today
however you want. And I thought she might want to
buy something, but what was really beautiful was she just
wanted experiences with me, you know. So she wanted to
go to a trampoline park. Took her a trampoline park.
(05:45):
She wanted to go to Chuck E Cheese, went to
Chuck E Cheese. Then we did a pit stop at McDonald's.
Then we went to yogurt Land, which is what she
wanted to do. Then we went to see The Devil
Wears Prada, which she wanted to do as well.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
Oh okay, cool And by the way, it sounds like
a lovely birthday. That's more than I ever got it
for fucking fifteen years.
Speaker 2 (06:05):
Yeah. My mom was like, when you give a gift,
you can't take it back or it can't come with strings.
I'm like, yes I can, says who watched me exactly.
She's like, you're gonna give her one hundred dollars. You
should give her one hundred dollars and she should be
able to spend it whenever she wants.
Speaker 4 (06:22):
So.
Speaker 2 (06:22):
Anyways, at the end of the day, she still had
like thirty something dollars left over, and I gave her
that extra money, so she got a little bit of
money extra. We both saw The Devil Worris Prada. That
was her choice, thankfully, because I did not want to
watch anything else that was in the theaters. And I
thought it was so mediocre. Oh oh really, so disappointing.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
You're actually the first review I'm getting. I haven't. I
don't even think I've read anything about it. So it's
just okay.
Speaker 2 (06:49):
I mean, it continues to do very well at the
box office. It's number one for the second weekend in
a row here in the US, and it's making a
lot of money worldwide as well. But I mean, the
story was just mediocre. And I'm not saying it's bad,
not bad at all. It's just so mediocre. But what's
the point. If you're gonna make a sequel to such
a beloved film, it has to be great.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Well, no, it doesn't, because it's all about Buddy. I
get Oh, they all took a check and for it
to be And that's the thing with these sequels, you know,
they don't have to exceed expectation. They don't have to.
It fucks up the franchise when you do the sequel.
I think when you just release something that's just okay,
like Deadpool, perfect example, Like I fucking loved the first Deadpool.
(07:30):
I think it's maybe the best superhero movie ever. I
fucking loved it. The second one was eh, and the
third one I don't even think I started it. Now
they could put out a fourth and fifth. I don't
even know if i'd watch, you know, because I don't care.
You've already sullied it because you took the money make
it great.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
You know what's so interesting? You just lose interest in
things and people over time. There's this one lovely Patreon
supporter of ours. I don't remember her name because I
didn't plan on talking about this, but we check the
message board daily pay treon dot com slash Perez Hilton
you get an exclusive episode a week, and this one
lovely supporter kept keep asking have you listened to the
(08:08):
new Harry Styles or the new Bruno Mars album? And
I haven't listened to either, and I don't really care
to listen to either. Have you listened to either?
Speaker 1 (08:17):
I did skip through the Harry Styles album, which I
may you know what I mean, like it did not
do anything for me, And weirdly enough, I haven't listened
to the new Bruno Mars. I'm like you because I
just feel like it's more of the same and the
same to me. Like as I I know, the new
song is a quote hit song. It's not a song
that I love song, you know what I mean. It's
(08:39):
just it's like it's better than mediocre. We should say
that because it's Brunoi this song.
Speaker 2 (08:43):
I just don't care.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Right. The whole thing is like I've heard it already.
I need something different, and there's an artist that we're
gonna talk about because you plugged this artist, so we'll
talk about something different coming up. But yeah, I share
your thoughts. Sometimes you're just like, ugh, I don't care.
Speaker 2 (08:59):
Well, I do appreciate that Bruno is trying different things.
I saw on my YouTube feed that he released a
song in Spanish. My guess is that it's one of
the songs from the album that he just recorded in Spanish,
and that's cool. He is a partly of Puerto Rican descent,
and I think that might be the first song he's
(09:19):
ever released in Spanish. So pretty cool. Also, over the weekend,
it was Mother's Day and oh so frustrating, my mom
found my presence for her. I had hidden them, and
I bought them pretty early on. And then because I
was sick, I needed something. I was in bed, I
was not well, and I asked her to get me
(09:40):
something from my drawer, not remembering that I had left
her presence in the drawer and she's like, what's this
And then she pulled it out and I'm like, great,
you just found your Mother's Day presence. So I gave
them to her. A while ago, there were these beautiful bracelets.
But thankfully my friend Spencer Pratt came in clutch. He
sent me some beautiful crystals for her and she loved them.
(10:01):
So I gave her some crystals and then we took
her out to a lovely Mexican feast at the Fountain Blue.
And this is so my mom. Not even through the meal,
like she had a little bit of the entrees and
then dipped to go play the slot machines. And I
was like, you know what, it's Mother's Day. If that's
what you want to do, then go for it. So
(10:23):
she had a little bit of the entrees, missed out
on the desserts, and had a lovely Mother's Day. You're
in La. You didn't see your mom.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
You called her I saw a couple of weeks ago,
but I talked to her actually a couple of times
over the weekend, just checking in with her and her
new knee. I got that update, and I went to
my mother in law's house yesterday, so I did do
some Mother's Day celebrating.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
So that's nice to celebrate Mother's Day. Taylor Frankie Paul,
the possibly no longer still starve the Secret Lives of
Mormon Wives, took to social media to say the following.
She also was supposed to be the new Bachelorette, but
we know that it didn't happen. Taylor Frankie Paul wrote, quote,
(11:07):
It's Mother's Day, so I'll say whatever I want as
if it's not already The worst time I have still
have this is her words. I have still have friends
kicking me while I'm already down and calling it setting
a boundary and then blames me. She couldn't proofread this
(11:28):
Jesus Christ, and then blames me friends. She's talking friends plural,
and then the friends blames me for being upset and responding.
That's called shaming and attack. While I had a moment
to breathe, and she knew that not once have a
called myself not once have A called myself a victim.
(11:53):
But I'm human and have breaking points. What a snake
friend just did to me in the public eye after
Was she drunk when she was writing this?
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Yeah, I was just gonna say this sounds like someone's
out of the influence of something, because, yeah, something's going
on there. If this is on social media too, this
is a cry for help.
Speaker 2 (12:13):
If you ask me, no, oh no, oh no, I
know why she did this.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
She's a mess.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
No no, no, no, no, no, no no no no.
So okay, yeah, yes, she may have been drunk, but
the reason she posted this doesn't have anything to do
with any friend. This is her attempt at getting back
on the show, even though she claimed that she chose
to take a break from filming BS. I think she
(12:38):
was benched as the sports term goes, and this is
her trying to start things up and calling out friends
aka co stars so that they could got her back
into the program.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Yeah. Smart, I think she needs to go away. I
mean no, I don't think it's smart. I think she's
caved in product at the moment. She needs to let
this breathe. What she did was heinous and letting her
back into the fold is ify I think. I don't
think this helps because it just makes me even dislike
her more. Look, I don't like these these women against
(13:13):
women TV shows. I think they've rotted women to the core.
I really do. I think it's an awful precedent that
this Bravo, this channel has set ease part of it
as well. I don't think it's a great idea.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
I don't, but the women love it and the gaze,
but the.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Entertainment value of it is understandable to a certain point.
And the certain point is people actually getting hurt, like
your own fucking children, for your behavior. And at some point,
these these networks or whomever they got to draw a
line Perez and say no, no, no, no, no, we're done
with this person because of this.
Speaker 2 (13:46):
I think that incident that happened that was caught on
video was before she was on the TV show.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
I don't give a shit. She's a puke to begin with,
She's always a puke. Okay, I don't care. I really
don't care. Kay. She seems like a problematic humanity. Yeah,
it has things to deal with. And this tweets or
whatever it is that she released Instagram. Whatever. This is
just saying she's a mess and go fix yourself once again,
cry for help, Go fix yourself.
Speaker 2 (14:12):
She wants to fix herself on the show on TV.
Speaker 1 (14:15):
Yeah, well it doesn't work that way.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Well, we'll see how that pans out. Speaking of Mother's Day,
Carti B and her alleged ex Stefan Diggs looked very
much a couple as they attended a Mother's Day community
event together over the weekend. Nice to see that. Also,
(14:39):
last night Sunday evening, a sap Rocky and Rihanna went
out for a Mother's Day dinner. The optics matter because
she went viral earlier in the week. They both did
for a video taken at the met gala where it
looked really frosty between the two of them. It went
so viral. We talked about this on the Patreon sho
(15:00):
It went so viral that her team reached out to
the media to say nothing is going on. Literally, this
is one quote. It was a long day and they
were running on empty. They had been working for about
sixteen hours non stop, so they were just really tired.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Okay, okay, sure I believe that. Sure, Let me ask you,
is that shocking coming from Rihanna's camp that they responded,
you mean, yeah, yeah, yeah, is that typical for them
or no. Well, I would say she's kind of come
down or notch when it comes to like stature, Like
(15:39):
she's a list, but she's not a plus list.
Speaker 2 (15:43):
You know, she's not Beyonce or Adele. I think Beyonce
or Adele would not say anything, but Rihanna is not
on the record, though it was still according to sources.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
Okay okay.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Also Zoe Kravitz, who was at the met gala last week,
the Hulu social media account posted a picture of her
from a former Hulu show High Fidelity, which only ran
one season and Hulu canceled. They said, Robin Brooks, that's
the name of the character. Definitely has kiss all the time,
(16:18):
disco occasionally on her playlist, that's the name of the
new Harry Styles album. And then Zoe commented on that
post saying this is taki Hulu. Oh and then she
also went on to call them out for not having
black actors in enough shows on Hulu and then they
(16:39):
deleted that post. And I don't know, is that taki
on their part. I don't think it's tacky. I think
it's a social media person trying to do their job
well get attention for their brand. And I don't think
it's a taki way. I think it's smart.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
But I ask you, the show's over right, Yeah, so okay,
it's like if they were still needing to feed that machine.
Speaker 2 (17:02):
But I'm sure that that one season is still on Hulu.
People could still stream.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
They still want people to watch it and check it
out and get something going. Yeah. I don't know it
is taki because you're diving into that person's personal life,
and I think people would think the assumption is that
she was cool with that. It doesn't sound like they
ran it by her, which look, they don't need to.
It's their fucking vehicle, it's their social media, it's their strategy.
(17:28):
And when you sign on to do things sometimes you
sell a little bit of your soul and a little
bit of your private life and this and that, and
that's just how the business goes, right. So I think
it's tacky on her side to respond that way with
social media. But you know, she's very cool.
Speaker 2 (17:42):
I don't think it's taky on her part.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
She could have just reached out to them and said
please remove that.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
Well, she wanted to publicly shame them.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
Okay, then that's taky. I mean, what are you gonna
publicly shame every employer because you don't agree with how
some mid twenty year old girl fucking does her jobs.
Speaker 2 (17:58):
I wouldn't say it, but that's what happened. I've never
I never said it was tachy of her. I think
she's obviously still disappointed. I'm not even going to use
a bigger word. I was thinking salty or hurt. Salty
and hurt might be, you know, too much. I think
she's still disappointed that that show didn't move forward and
that she was basically fired, not fired, but you know,
(18:20):
like the show ended after just one season.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Okay, look, she's the big star.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
Is she really?
Speaker 1 (18:26):
Though?
Speaker 2 (18:27):
I would never say she's a big star.
Speaker 1 (18:29):
That's me being sarcastic. That's me saying she's not a
big star. And if she was, she would have carried
the project in the first place. She'd have put it
on her back and taken it across the finish line
and people would say, wow, this is something because she's
so great in it.
Speaker 2 (18:43):
She didn't.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Okay, So if I'm her, I stay out of the
fray of this whole thing and just pretend like it
didn't happen. This is the first time I've ever heard
of it before. And you know, what I've heard show
was a bomb. That's all I've heard. That's all I'm
going to remember out of this. So I think it's
tacky on her end to start attacking her employer for
something she couldn't carry. Okay, I think the classic thing
to do is call your people and say, hey, could
(19:05):
you remove that tweet? She doesn't want a personal life
confused with her art and whatever, But which is fine,
that's not tacky. But this and then criticizing them for
whom they hire, and on top of it, come on,
that's tag.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
That would not have achieved her goal of shaming them publicly.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Well, here's what I'm thinking. If I work for another property,
this girl seems a bit much and she's a little
pain in the ascid. She's a little high and mighty,
and I don't know if I'm gonna hire her because
if this is what I gotta deal with at the end,
Because like I said, some mid twenty year old girl
had a decent idea to your point, not a terrible idea,
a little lame. It is a little lame, but for
(19:41):
her to respond and then dump on top of the
network with their hiring practices or whatever the fuck. Put
asses in seats and people will watch your show. No
one's in the seats right now, and it's because of you. Okay,
she's got egg on her face and now she has
more egg on her face. That's how I see it.
Speaker 2 (19:57):
Well, we see it differently, all right, let's move on.
Let's move on to some music related news. Charlie XCX
has dropped a new song, and I think most people
don't like it. I have my finger on the pulse.
I'm looking at comments across social media, and that was
(20:18):
my initial reaction as well the first time I listened
to it. But then I listened to it a second
time and I liked it. And then I listened to
it a third time and I liked it a lot.
I'm not going to say I love it, but I
like it a lot because it does a few things.
First of all, you can't look at it sincerely rock music.
This song is clearly tongue in cheek and ironic, and
(20:41):
it's meant to be fun and playful. And it's a
rock song that's sonically not a rock song, but it
also is a rock song, and I just I love
it and it's so brat like the brat Ethos. This
last era of hers is still imbued in this song.
And I also love the freedom that she has because
(21:04):
she was able to have massive success at that last
album without any radio play. So she made this new
record not thinking about radio and just wanting to have fun,
be playful and do something cool. And I like it
a lot.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
I said it to Perez and I said, I'm guessing
you hate this, and he, you know, paused and listened
to it because it's only two minutes.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Long too, literally literally two minutes. I am annoyed at
the length of the song. I do find two minute
songs annoying.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Yeah, it's a little too short because it needs like
an extra coorse or something in it. But I said
it to him and he's like, I do I hate it?
And then I don't know how much time went by,
but I checked my text again. Then it was like,
I forget what you said, Like never mind, I think
I like it or something write something to that effect. Yeah,
and I have different thoughts on it than Perez does.
But look, it's not I'll say. What he didn't say
(21:58):
was it's not a hit song.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
No, No, I don't think it's a hit song.
Speaker 1 (22:01):
Yeah, but that doesn't mean it can't be good. And
what I love about it is it's doing exactly what
it's supposed to do. She is setting up what she
wants to do next. And to Perez's point, she don't
give a goddamn of radio or whomever plays her song.
She didn't care the whole last album. The thing that
she only has to worry about is her fan base
gonna get this. But I don't think she cares because
(22:23):
she doesn't want to do the same thing. And I
love the song. My first time, I was like, I
don't know, and like Perez. The second time I heard it,
then I heard it on like Hits one last night
in the car and I was like, holy fuck, I
love this song. So it's very different h and it
serves a very specific purpose. She is doing nothing but
setting up her next era. She doesn't care if it's
(22:45):
a hit.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Yes, so it gets people talking.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
It's mission accomplished. You did something that's different. By the way,
it's not a rock it's to Perez's points, it's a
dance rock it's a little all over the place, but
that's why it's great, because it makes it challenges everything.
Speaker 2 (23:02):
Yes, yeah, and that was her intention.
Speaker 1 (23:04):
When you hear the very first opening lines or the
very first opening sounds, it's clear that her and her
husband they talk a lot. I mean, it's him and
Maddie that create everything for the nineteen seventy five And
just listening to the noise in the beginning, you're like, yup,
you know they're working together. You could tell. But I
love it. I think she's hit a home run.
Speaker 2 (23:22):
And this is the part that people don't get. And
this and when I listened to the song in context
and hearing how it sounded. Even prior to the release
of this song, rock music, rock music, no rock song.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Rock music.
Speaker 2 (23:36):
Even prior to the release of the song, she got
a lot of attention because she had said in an interview,
I think the dance floor is dead. She doesn't really
believe that. That was a joke. That was a joke.
Speaker 4 (23:46):
Ha ha.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
How rock and roll of her to say the dance
floor is dead when it's not, and she doesn't believe that,
But people fucking bought it and they ran with it.
And then then if you listen to the song, you're like, oh,
she was trolling us, Like I fucking love I love
I'll take it more than I mean. I don't love it,
but I like it a lot. I like it a lot.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Put it this way, it's the most rock and roll
thing I've heard in a long time. Put it that way.
Most rock music just sucks on the dick of terrible.
I mean the business it's it's horrible, and it's like, oh,
formulaic and garbage. This is like not a formula It's exciting.
This has potential to do something. I hope her fans
kind of warm up to it, and I think they
will just because, like what you said, if you hear
(24:26):
it a couple of weeks time, Yeah, I knew you'd
hate it the first time, but I knew there was
something there, and there's definitely something there. But I think
we both agree.
Speaker 2 (24:33):
Not a hit song, no, but it's an expression getting sung.
Yeah right, all right. A lot of Ed Sheeran fans
are upset, and I would be too. Poor Ed, like
so many others this year has blue dot fever.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
Well he does, yes, his too. I didn't know that.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
His tour is not selling well, so last week they
did a two for one Mother's Day special. You buy
one ticket, you get two. The people that bought their
tickets months ago didn't have a two for one special.
Speaker 1 (25:06):
Yeah, you can't do that.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
And when you do this, you're just training and conditioning
your fans to wait and wait, and then you're gonna
have more Blue Dot fever. I think, yeah, I would
be upset.
Speaker 1 (25:17):
It's kind of what we were talking about at the
top of the show. Not listening to Harry Styles and
what was the other with Bruno Mars. He's unfortunately fallen
into the same lane for me. It's not that I
don't love him. And I think every artist just gets
a you know, you get a time. It's like Katie Perry,
you get a finite amount of time and then you
have to almost time it to go away and make
(25:39):
people miss you. Beyonce's very good at that. I think
she's got her finger on when she should drop things,
and some artists don't. Taylor right now trying to push
this Elizabeth Taylor stiff. It's a stiff. They're trying to
do everything to move the needle and variants and this
and that already gets already started and it's it's not
gonna work. It's not a hit song.
Speaker 2 (25:57):
I mean it's like a top twenty song, like a
fifteen to twenty. It's like a moderate hit song.
Speaker 1 (26:03):
It serves a purpose. It's not a smash.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
It's not a top ten song.
Speaker 1 (26:07):
It's just because first of all, she's always gonna get
the look because of whom she is. People are gonna
play it because of the name. And it's not terrible
by any means. It's just not hit. It's just not
either you know that or you don't, and I know it.
It ain't a hit. But sometimes you got a time thing.
Sometimes you have to say, you know what, I can't
play this game. I can't constantly just game game, game
(26:28):
game and expect the same results because your fan base
will catch on to it too, and it kind of
leaves a bad taste in your mouth.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
Well, on the flip side of Ed Sheeran and Zane
Mallick and Post Malone and the Pussycat Dolls and Megan Trainer,
Olivia Rodrigo's new tour is completely sold out and shattering records.
She is playing nine nights at the Intuit Dome in
(26:55):
Los Angeles. That's like a twenty thousand person one yeah
nights in Los Angeles and eight nights at New York
City's Barclays Center. She has the longest sold out residency
at Brooklyn's Barclays, besting a mark previously set by Jay Z.
This is also the most sold out shows at LA's
(27:17):
Into It Dome. She's the first solo female artist to
surpass ten performances on a single tour at London's Two,
and she joins U two as the only non Spanish
act to sell out four nights at Barcelona's Palau Saint
Geordie in.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
That wild She's really done it right. I get why
her fans love her. I'm not all in on everything
about the music yet, and maybe I'll get there, and
I maybe I just haven't listened enough.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
But I think eventually, like, Okay, she's got enough hits,
I'll finally go see her.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
You know, maybe it's sad, maybe I need to go
see her live. You know, she's done all the right things.
She fills a lot of buckets. She loves artists like
Jack White and you know, shows up at those kind
of things. With the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,
She's covering a lot of yeah, and she just seems
like a good kid. That's the other thing. It's like
hard to root against her. She just seems like nice. Yeah,
(28:13):
I like her.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
I like her, I don't love her. But I also
think this is a generational thing, Like I just think
her fans are younger, and that's cool.
Speaker 1 (28:20):
Right, it is she's serving a purpose to a certain
age of people and in time when you may look
back on artists and go, they were early, that good
or whatever, it doesn't matter. Once you're in the cool
kid club and everyone's like, oh, we got to go
to the Olivia Rodrigo. That's when you're you're just sailing.
Speaker 2 (28:36):
And also speaking of doing very well, I would not
have brought this up, but I'm glad that Natalie, one
of our Patreons supporters, left the following comment because I
got to give credit where credit is due. Natalie wrote,
haven't heard you touch on Noah Khan new album and
sold out stadium tour and not only a new album,
(28:58):
but the album is like one of the biggest of
twenty twenty six. It is in a time where other
artists are canceling tours, he keeps winning. Can't find a
ticket for less than five hundred dollars.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
It's wild.
Speaker 2 (29:10):
Congrats to him.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
He's a nice guy. I met him at one of
the festivals, the last one maybe last year. Tall guy,
but super super nice. He's really in the Maroon five lane.
No wow, no.
Speaker 2 (29:22):
No, no, no, way cooler than that.
Speaker 1 (29:25):
There's no question that he's fucking way cooler than that.
But he's in that lane of like, who are these
people that's a fan of this? Do I know anybody
that likes this?
Speaker 2 (29:33):
Like everybody?
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Well, it's everybody, right, but it doesn't mean it's anybody
you know, you know what I mean. It's like president
and I haven't been like fawning over the new Noah
con heard it.
Speaker 2 (29:42):
I gotta hear it.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
Well, no, you've heard the hit the single that's out.
It's a great song. It's like one of those you
hear it, you're like the first couple of times you're like,
all right, whatever, and then you hear it a month
later you're like, wow, this is a hit song. He's
good at that. But it's like those Maroon five kind
of songs that are all, whether you like it or not,
great songs. But it's just like you go, Okay, he's
just filling that void at the moment.
Speaker 2 (30:03):
In more music related news, recently, Britney Spears's son Jaden
was asked about his mom and how she was doing
post rehab, and smartly, he said, I have no comment
on that.
Speaker 1 (30:20):
Here we go.
Speaker 2 (30:20):
Look at that kid nineteen And that's how you handle
the paparazzi exactly. Who think they're journalists. They're not journalists,
they're paparazzi. Congratulations to James Kennedy. The former vander Pump
Rules star is expecting his first child with his girlfriend,
whom he's been dating for about seven months, which means
(30:43):
they got pregnant probably a few months ago. And real quick, yeah,
real quick.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
All right. I think he's sober now, so good for him.
Speaker 2 (30:53):
Well, we don't know the identity of the girlfriend. She's
you know, a normal girl.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
But that's a good thing, yead for them if he's
able to move on with his life posts that mess
and that show. I mean, he was kind of a
villain there for a while. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (31:07):
Yeah, speaking of villains, this influencer beauty guru James Charles
went viral over the weekend. Maybe it even made your
way to you, did it?
Speaker 1 (31:17):
I don't think so. But tell me, and maybe it didn't.
I just the name doesn't ring a bell.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
So this former employee of Spirit Airlines reached out to
him and sent a DM asking for help. She had
set up a GoFundMe, and he made an entire video
just trashing this woman, saying, go help yourself get a
new job. In the time that it took you to
(31:42):
send this to me and other people that I'm sure
you sent it to, you could have applied for one
hundred jobs. Blah blah blah blah. And then it went
super viral with people calling him out, and then of
course he made an apology video blah blah, blah blah blah.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Well, okay, but was the result. She got a lot
of money and people donated money.
Speaker 2 (32:03):
I wish no, I don't think didn't.
Speaker 1 (32:06):
Because I mean, that's a good way to If I
was her, I would have blasted that out and she
should have yes. But then he could say at the end,
like we were in on it together. I knew that
was gonna happen in the mission accomplished and you're welcome.
That's what I would do if I was him.
Speaker 2 (32:18):
In the video, he said that he couldn't find her
DM anymore. Maybe because she blocked him, I'm guessing, and
because he wanted to reach out to her or her
her reach out to him so that he could donate. Now, yeah, okay, yeah,
I know. It's a bummer. It would have been good
if she had got if her gofund me had gone viral.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
But oh well. Uh.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
Speaking of money, Nick Cannon's accountant has been accused of
embezzling millions of dollars from him before fleeing the country.
I wonder what which one he works at? Let me see,
hon formerly of Woodland Hills Oof Tax Evasion.
Speaker 1 (32:59):
That's the next town over.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
Oh whatever, who cares? Interesting though that they don't name
the company, So hopefully you can get that money back.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
I don't know, but yeah, all that money's gone.
Speaker 2 (33:10):
I know some of these relationships between celebrities and their
business managers. They have pin numbers for the bank. They
do all of it easy.
Speaker 1 (33:18):
They could. You know, you have to trust your financial advisor. No,
I trust mine. Hope, I hope I'm not one of
these stories. Someday you hear that, Bobby, I'm talking to you.
Speaker 2 (33:27):
Speaking of Nick Cannon, his ex wife and baby mama
of many Mariah Carey was spotted on a seeming date
night with Anderson Park. They had been together a while
back and then broke up, and it seems like they're
back together. They were holding hands like a couple, not
like friends. They went out to the movies in Century City,
(33:50):
so mazl to them. Some exciting news for all of
you Oasis fans, a live documentary documentary of their Oasis
Live Tour is coming out for those of you who
care to watch or weren't able to go. And finally,
the final episode of the Late Show with Stephen Colbert
(34:11):
airs I think next Friday, and in a sign of respect,
Jimmy Kimmel will air a rerun that night.
Speaker 1 (34:20):
Oh that's nice.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
Nice of ABC to agree to that. I wonder if
Fallon will do the same. I don't know, not that
anybody actually stays up late anymore and watches that.
Speaker 1 (34:29):
Yeah, you're gonna watch the clips the next morning. And
speaking of I don't know if anybody watched the roast
of Kevin Hart last night. Did you even know that
was on?
Speaker 2 (34:36):
I didn't know it was on, but I saw clips.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
Yeah, it was live on Netflix.
Speaker 2 (34:40):
I saw what did I see? I saw Tom? Yes,
I was going to say I saw Tom Brady and
I saw a moment with kat Williams that was good, captain,
and that's all that I saw.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
Yeah, the rock came out. It sucked. I mean, the
whole thing was. It was like almost three hours long
and it was too long. And they did it at
the in Inglewood, at the Forum that's too big. It
needs to be a smaller room and be more intimate.
And everyone was playing to the audience and it just
was messy.
Speaker 2 (35:06):
And was Nicki Glazer there?
Speaker 1 (35:08):
No? And Nicki Glazer wasn't there.
Speaker 2 (35:10):
She wasn't there.
Speaker 3 (35:11):
No.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Jeff Ross was there, but he didn't host the whole thing.
That one guy that Jeff Gillis or whatever did if
that's his name. That kind of sucked. The whole thing
was just really messy and not good. All right, let's
take a call.
Speaker 3 (35:24):
Hello, Pariz and Booker.
Speaker 1 (35:26):
How are you guys?
Speaker 3 (35:27):
Katie from Chicago. I was just calling because I don't
know I could have missed it, of course, but Lady
Gaga's song Runway is newish and I feel like it's
an awesome song, like so much fun with what's her
name don'chi. So anyway, if you guys had heard that.
I was wondering your opinions. I'm surprised it's not bigger
(35:48):
right now than it is, just like a rollestoum song.
So Runway, Lady Gaga, don chi check it out if
you haven't, And if you guys already talked about this,
I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
If famous, no, we have it. It's a soundtrack song.
To me, it's a little it's kind of goofy. It's
almost campy a little bit, but it's supposed to be.
It's from that movie Devilwar's Praudu. It's about the runway.
It sounds like it was specifically made for it, and
it's just fine. I guess.
Speaker 2 (36:11):
I like the song. Yeah, it's nothing that blows my
hair back once again. I think it's a top twenty
hit and not a top ten hit.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Yeah, it's a soundtrack song. It might even go higher
just because she's Lady Gaga. Yeah, I don't think it's
like some Look, it's not in the pantheon of great
Gaga songs to me, but that doesn't mean it's terrible either.
Speaker 2 (36:30):
Yeah, but I like it solid B plus good grade.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
Okay, one more and we'll dip out. Here we go.
Speaker 4 (36:38):
This message is for you, Booker. I'm watching The Bear
Grills Running Wild and it's an episode with MGK, and
I think you've mentioned before what a sweetheart it is.
You should watch it. It's a really good episode, and
he seems like he is such a sweetheart, so I
just wanted.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
To he is. He's honest to god, he's the nicest,
sweetest man in person. Sweetheart, sweetheart. I like him all right.
Eight hundred and seven. We get together again on Thursday
for the Patreon
