with us on that, so you see Blaze putting a
lot of news stuff out there and a lot of
updates from the great programming they have. We'll start adding
more of our stuff this week, including the Weekly Bible Study.
I started getting emails, hey, the Weekly Bible Study archives.
Not on the new Facebook page. That's because it wasn't.
(02:49):
We didn't take control of it until later in the week.
Let's week so adder, we'll start loading that and we'll
get that one from last week up too, because there's
a lot of folks on that Daniel ten, uh so,
and we'll continue that this week with Daniel eleven.
Speaker 4 (03:02):
We're almost done with Daniel, so we'll do that.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
Uh So, guys, I hope everybody had a great weekend.
So we had college football playoffs. I never saw the
second half of either one of those games because when
when even the even the Friday night game, I wanted
to get I wanted to get fired up about it.
But because of winter weather in the Deep South better
known as Armageddon apocalypse. But but anyway, so because I
(03:30):
don't know about y'all, I was I was trapped unable
to go anywhere for at least eight nine hours, so
uh so so anyway there where we live. But but anyway,
but we had to get up so early to get
here before it hit, because that that that really would
have been problematic. SPAN gave us the information. I got
up so early, so early that I was awakened. I
(03:54):
was awakened, okay by my wife, who I had to
talk in to watch in the game with me, you know,
because I don't want my little bestie to be not
I said, come down and watch football with me, and
she's like, okay.
Speaker 5 (04:07):
You know.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
I gave her a few background stories. I thought my
interest her in that game Texas Ohio State. I am
awakened from a deep, wonderful sleep, wonderful sleep by my wife,
not her, awakened by me.
Speaker 4 (04:22):
This is how said. It was me awakened.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
By her hollering over Ohio State's touchdown right before half,
which was a backbreaker, by the way.
Speaker 4 (04:31):
Uh, And she woke me up. Oh god, he's a
going all the way. Oh my goodness, I can't believe that,
poor old Texas. And I'm waking up, like what happened?
Speaker 2 (04:41):
She goes, are you not watching the game, And I'm like,
I think I'm out, And then she said that's it,
and she said you just need go on to bed,
and then she shut TV.
Speaker 4 (04:48):
I'll shoverything down.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
I was in bed, so but that was when Texas
had worked so hard to tie the game. And then
and we just second and just seconds left before the half,
Ohio State breaks one and scores.
Speaker 4 (05:00):
But what about inside the two first and gold and
you can't get it in to tie it.
Speaker 6 (05:04):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (05:04):
I didn't see that. Yeah, and the guy scooped and scored. Yeah,
I didn't see that.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
But but anyway, I did use that game, pretending like
I saw it in Michigan. Uh but uh but I mean,
I'm just talking about the sadness that that should have
been my wife over there asleep with a blanket and
me hollering about the game, waking her up.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
It was complete reverse roles. You gotta feel bad about.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
Did you miss that? You didn't see that play?
Speaker 4 (05:29):
That's awful, Poor old Texas.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
And they work so hard to get that touchdown and
all of a sudden boom.
Speaker 4 (05:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
So anyway, so we have a national championship now coming.
You know you talk about interested in it. Well, Ohio
State versus Notre Dame. Okay, uh So that's program traditionally
a lot of history, and I will watch it because
I have to, even though it'll be too late for
us again because it's gonna be on a Monday.
Speaker 4 (05:55):
Uh But but anyways, yeah, six thirty.
Speaker 3 (05:58):
That helps.
Speaker 4 (05:58):
It does help this thing.
Speaker 7 (06:00):
I know, I know it hurts because I'm like you,
I didn't see the second half of either one of
the semi final games. Actually, I just couldn't because to
your point that, you know, Friday night, after we've all
been up, you just you have to make a decision.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
And I was down there.
Speaker 7 (06:16):
I mean it was tough, but I mean I went
out down and hunted the best thank you spot in
state of Alabama, thank you you greatest people, Saint and
uh just gotten back from a steak dinner where things
were catered and handed right to me and I didn't
have to do anything but eat. It was hard, but
and so I had to make a decision and we
all did. Hey we got to get up at like
(06:38):
you know, five or whatever to get back out and hunt,
and oh yeah, oh yeah. So I had to make
a decision and turn it off. And it was It's
the score was so deceiving because you sit there and
you look at the score. I think it was twenty
eight to fourteen, was the fine.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
That was the final, you know, And you go, okay,
I didn't see that Saturday morning breakfast.
Speaker 7 (06:57):
Yeah, and I'm thinking, my goodness, Ohio State ran ran
away with it, and I thought, hey, man, hey glad
we went to sleep. They wasn't even a game twenty
eight to fourteen. And then you see the replay of
how that the twenty eight you know, and you're like, no,
they were going into tide.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
He scooped and scored. Guys, it was first and goal
from like the two shake a nap or something, you
were still up. I think I knotted off a couple
of times during it, but I didn't miss anything key. Yeah,
and I tried. I couldn't. I knocked off, but I
was refreshed from a little power nap. Yeah, yeah, I
needed to the end.
Speaker 7 (07:29):
Okay, Well, it's bizarre, to say the least, of how
that happened because it was so deceiving as far as
how it ended, the score and all that.
Speaker 4 (07:39):
So if you didn't see it, you thought, well, yeah,
it wasn't eve been a game.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
Yeah, so I thought, okay, now you've made me feel hawful,
because that's exactly what I did. I was sitting there
on Saturday morning, I was like, oh, twenty eight fourteen, Okay,
I'm glad.
Speaker 4 (07:49):
I'm glad I got some sleep. Looking at the NFL.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Texans move on, Ravens move on, Bills move on, Eagles
move on, and the Commanders move on the commander, all that,
and then we got do I say, we have more
action tonight.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
Right, yeah, we have.
Speaker 7 (08:06):
We have the game that was moved from La the
Rams hosting the Vikings, and that got pushed back and
moved to Glendale, Arizona, home of the Cardinals. That's tonight,
just because of the wildfires and all that that was
pushed over wildfires.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
They just can't quite seem to get these trail now,
so many things burning, so much burning.
Speaker 4 (08:26):
So much unfortunate death told what up to twenty four now,
so the overhead views of the area, it's it's unreal. Yeah,
my goodness.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
I'm surprised it's only twenty four.
Speaker 4 (08:38):
I know, I know.
Speaker 7 (08:39):
I think, well they have could could have her dogs
now going through certain areas that they're able to get through,
and so that could rise unfortunately. But yeah, you're right, Af.
It's just the devastation. I mean, James Woods posted video
of him going back and looking over and he just
like in the before and afters are what's so so sad,
(09:01):
where they go, look this is what it looked like
and now, and then the screen changes over and it's like,
this is what it is now, and it's there's just nothing.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
Yeah. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
So also, one week from today Trump uh is supposed
to be inaugurated as the next president. Yeah so uh.
And I was telling speech and things. We're investigating something.
I mean I did see that, but I don't know
what credibility it has.
Speaker 4 (09:25):
That's the thing, you know. You got to think about
this though.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
One thing that we I think we can all say,
you know, some big security concerns.
Speaker 4 (09:33):
Oh yeah, yeah, I mean that's legit. Ye you know,
I mean that's legit.
Speaker 8 (09:37):
So so the National Championship and the inauguration are on
the same day.
Speaker 4 (09:40):
Yeah, wow, big days by that's a big day right there.
We'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
This is The Rick Burgess Show. Blood Cast team from
the world, The Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
Hey yeah, Li's no more tolerating to fake world.
Speaker 4 (10:16):
We're just kind of real world here, okay.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
All right, So we do have a lot to discuss
going forward. A couple of things you also need to
be aware of as far as this week is concerned.
We'll recap stories from the road coming up. Also, but
this week, if you'd love to go to a man church,
how this Florence, Alabama. I was probably twenty to thirty
(10:39):
minutes from this place from Florence last night.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
That if that far.
Speaker 2 (10:43):
Gil McKee from Team Manchurch speaking in Florence. Coming up
this Saturday, that is the eighteenth Ring Saturday. The yes
coming up the eighteenth, So that'll be this Saturday, cross
Point Church of Christ, Cross Point Church of Christ. It
will be a morning breakfast men this Saturday morning, Gil McKee,
so you can be there here a great message from
(11:05):
Gil and then we'll put you into one of our
forty week curriculum.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
You'll sign up for one.
Speaker 2 (11:09):
Of the small groups there also then it gets boy
now here come then Man Church Conferences Now Birmingham. Yours
is the twenty fourth, twenty fifth. Granger Smith who was
on with us Friday, Hugh Free speaking, George Wright will
be speaking, Andy Blanks I'll be speaking, George Chuck Hooton
will be doing worship. We'll have some updates for you,
(11:31):
including a resource we are really really excited about, and
you'll have an exclusive opportunity to it before it even
goes to the rest of the public. So anyway, that's
all coming up Birmingham on the twenty fourth, twenty fifth,
and then we go on from there into February. You
can find all that too, and that'll include two Man
Church conferences in Panama City and Atlanta. But also I'll
(11:53):
be headed over to Monroe, Louisiana. There it looks like
on the eighth for the Dry Bones Men's Conference. There's
a lot to find at the Manchurch dot com, Burgess
Ministries dot com, or Rick Burgess Show dot com under
upcoming events.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
Okay, so I didn't. I didn't.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
I didn't realize how much I missed. Now we're going
back to the College Playoff for just a minute. So
I wasn't really paying attention when y'all were trying to
let me know that twenty eight to fourteen does not
tell the story. And now Greg's telling me and Texas fans,
now I realize how bad you're really hurting. And of course,
you know you guys are in the SEC. Now I'm
(12:28):
not really It's hard for me to get accustomed to that,
and I even at one time had to be corrected.
I was like, well, you know, the SEC just hasn't
gone very far in the playoffs, and people said, you
mean Texas is not in the SEC.
Speaker 4 (12:39):
I said, gosh, they are, aren't they?
Speaker 2 (12:41):
So So anyway, I did not know and when we
heard this in the pregame course better known as when
I was still awake, I did not know because all
I heard in pregame was probably probably the best offensive
line in the country belongs to Texas, and they've got
them all well, they're all back, everybody's well, And so
(13:03):
I did not know that it was twenty one fourteen
Texas is inside the two. Yeah, now here on the
last play they had already they tried something to play
before and they lost all this yard.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
Now they tried what did they try? It was some
I can't remember. They weren't.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
What I was saying is that if I have the
best offensive line in the country. I understand Ohio State's
very good on defense. I got that, but I would
just rather and you said, one of the announcers said this,
I would rather me take my best, strongest part of
my offense, my offensive line inside the two. I'm going
four plays. If you can stop me four plays with
(13:41):
this offensive line, I'll shake your hand and say, enjoy
your trip to the National Championship Game. But you're going
to have to beat me that way, especially now when
I try something.
Speaker 4 (13:51):
It's to play before this that put them back. Now,
they have to pass.
Speaker 5 (13:54):
Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 4 (13:55):
Yeah, so this is the going to start away back
at the teen.
Speaker 7 (13:57):
Now they were first and going and that's fourth and
goal and there I think it's about this seven yes
or no?
Speaker 3 (14:05):
Yeah, I'll play it quick.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
Okay, right here we go go all right? Aren't for yours?
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Rusher comes?
Speaker 4 (14:13):
Oh my goodness, that clicks up.
Speaker 9 (14:15):
Duck Sawyer hand a doll.
Speaker 4 (14:17):
The sidelines and what's that? What makes us even more special? Viewers?
Speaker 7 (14:22):
Who is the quarterback for Texas? And and Jack Sawyer?
They were roommates when viewers was at Ohio State and
and so now he he sacks his old buddy and
scoops and scores.
Speaker 4 (14:34):
Is his name yours or viewers? Viewers? Viewers? It's viewers?
Did I say yes? Okay, I'm sorry. I don't know what.
I don't know what I'm saying that, and you kept
saying it so confident I thought I was hearing it. Yeah,
how about me? I just I'm correct me.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
Well, I didn't want to be a bit because I don't.
I don't feel confident that the players as well as
I thought you. So it's it's yours. So they were
roommates when yours was at Ohio.
Speaker 4 (14:58):
State, right, oh man. Yeah, but like I say that
the play before is would mess them up. Yeah, yeah,
that was a big long But what was the play?
What they do? Do you not remember? We were asleep?
You're the only one away.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
I did watch it. I did watch it.
Speaker 4 (15:13):
You did not.
Speaker 3 (15:13):
I don't know what the play is called, but I
did watch it.
Speaker 8 (15:15):
And the thing is, I made the mistake of like
twenty minutes before all this happening, texting some friends of
mine that live in Texas and saying hook them horns.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
No, you did not. You know better than that.
Speaker 3 (15:28):
I will take the blame for all of this.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
It is your fault, Loud.
Speaker 8 (15:33):
I am the biggest curse on any team ever. I
said it out loud, I said, hook them horns?
Speaker 3 (15:38):
Because so I lived there for nine years, y'all.
Speaker 8 (15:44):
I moved out of the city of San Antonio, Texas,
and the Spurs started their dynasty. That's how bad of
a bad luck charm I am on any team that
I support. Good Night, you look at all my goodness
bad luck slept right?
Speaker 3 (15:58):
No, my goodness?
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Okay, So.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
Because I know I look, we we we've all been
there before. Have you ever been involved in any sort
of coaching situation or whatever, and you realize that the
other team you're playing that if they do certain things,
there's nothing you can do about it. Yeah, and then
they try to be goof because they know you're going
to try the thing they do well, they try to
trick you. And then when they try to trick you,
(16:22):
you actually relieve not tricked. I think that that that
may have happened here because inside the two. Now I
don't know what play they called it put them.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
Back to the eight, but it's somebody said tass play left.
Speaker 8 (16:34):
But if it helps Ohio State, is that team that
has had that major revival amongst their team and on campus.
If that helps you guys, is that you know you
know what I'm talking about?
Speaker 4 (16:48):
Yeah, I do remember that guy.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
And at the look when we all stand before the
one and only living God, if all that's legit, that's
all that's going to matter.
Speaker 4 (16:56):
And I would love to actually believe that the way
I should run.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Now sure, okay, but I just don't like Ohio State
and and and and I will, but but I'm gonna
go say that I'll save it because I know we're
gonna do stories from the road. I I used Ohio
State in a very positive way over the weekend, and
it actually was a game changer for me, okay, because
(17:22):
I was I was in a little bit of an
awkward situation, and uh, and it was I couldn't believe
that the Buckeyes actually helped me because I don't like them.
Speaker 8 (17:31):
We're here, they are, They're running out on the field,
they are they all kneel. This is you know all
I mean, that's a lot of them kneeling protesting the flag.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
But all right, let's let's just get real for a minute,
and let's just all talk about it. If if we
all are part of the church and everything's legit, and
we've repented and we've left faith in ourselves and placed
our faith in Jesus, then we are part of the church,
and we're all brothers and sisters in Christ. However, though
we are justified and one day we will be glorified,
(18:02):
we are not yet completely sanctified. We're in the process
of being sanctified. Okay, So that means that we still
have a sin nature and we still have flaws. There's
a lot of people I almost spend attorney with that
I don't relock them. I mean, as far as you know,
there's people at church you get on your nerves. So
the buck Eyes are like those people at church, you
(18:23):
get on your nerves. Once we're glorified, I'll be like,
I won't even care about you, right, but I'm not
glorified yet.
Speaker 4 (18:30):
We're just all getting sanctified, right, we justified? Sure? Yeah,
and that's all that's gonna matter.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
But that doesn't make you any less annoying right now
being an Ohio State Buckeye.
Speaker 3 (18:40):
Right, Jesus loves you and I'm trying.
Speaker 4 (18:42):
Yeah, that's exactly right.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. The man who thought
the world to save couldn't care that. Rick words.
Speaker 4 (19:04):
Fine, and thanks for being with us today, walking through
another day on another week of the Rick Berger Show.
Week two.
Speaker 2 (19:15):
All right, so debt, debt, debt. Nobody likes debt. Stupid
stupid debt. All right, So here here we go. If
you have taken on some debt over the holidays, and
I'm sure nobody did that. Uh, sometimes you just want
to make it happen. And but you can get a plan, okay,
no matter why, you have the debt our friends at
pdsdebt dot com slash big vox are ready to help you.
Speaker 4 (19:40):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
Uh, And here on this day you're thinking about, all right,
this is the week because what probably happened with with
a lot of us is you you went through the holidays,
then you said, all right, I'm gonna start working on
that debt we built of over the holidays. Now I'm
not gonna do it the first week of the new year.
I'm gonna do it a little bit. Here we are
again another week, so so let's go ahead and start
(20:01):
working on that. Never too early to start planning to
get out of debt, So go to pdsdebt dot com,
slash big Box. They can help you with a personalized
solution just for you.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
Now.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
If you're struggling with credit cards, personal loans, collections, even
medical bills. While those can build up, can't they If
you're making payments every month on your debt and the
balance isn't going down, this is going nowhere, and they'll
let you stay there. They don't care because they're getting
the interest in all that. So ten thousand dollars or
more in debt, you'll qualify. Okay, even if you struggle
(20:34):
a little bit with your credit, don't worry about that.
Bad or our fair credit. They still will accept you.
So why don't you save more while paying off debt
and the fraction I mean a fraction of the time
this is going to take if you don't use PDS.
So get peace of mind for twenty twenty five. What
a great gift that is PDSDBT dot com slash big Vox,
(20:55):
pdsdbt dot com slash big Box. There's also a link
at Rick burgesshow dot com under the sponsor. So get
that done, all right, So also, Speedy tell us so
we're kind of ready. Now we got the National Championship
game week from today Notre Dame, Ohio State, so we'll
we'll talk more about that as we get closer to
the game. I gave you the teams that advanced in
(21:17):
the playoffs, got another playoff game in the NFL tonight.
And so Speedy, you you know, I don't want to
use the word saint because or you know anyone, but
you went and went hunting over the weekend for others,
and you went to one of the most sought after
places part of the state where you know, the biggest
(21:40):
deer rome and there's a lot of success there usually
and you went to help a school, Morgan Academy, Morgan
have their annual Morgan Academy deer Hunt and the funds
raised and they have hunters come in from all over
the place and met some of them out of state.
Speaker 4 (21:59):
They uh, it goes to the school and helps them
fund all kinds of It's not exactly a mission trip
to a their world country. No, no, it's not.
Speaker 7 (22:06):
And I was even approached by countless people that said, hey,
you know, next year, the whole staff, I mean, get
all the guys down here. And I said, I don't
want to put them through this, said, I told them
that I was taking this for them, yes, right, and
that I don't want all them.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
Coming down put that through this.
Speaker 7 (22:24):
I mean being there, waited on hand and foot and
have steak dinner and uh catfish dinners and go back
to the Yagers, which is the family I stayed with,
and waited on us, had cake and pie and you
know you're talking about camp house breakfast. Yeah, she said, hey,
anybody ready for connect a sausage scrambled eggs, And it
(22:46):
just kept running the list.
Speaker 2 (22:47):
Again, not exactly like a mission trip in the world country. No,
And I'm like, well, I guess you probably didn't have
heat or anything, probably had to sleep on the ground.
Speaker 7 (22:54):
Well, I mean it was it was so not We
actually had the basement to ourselves. I had Tommy leonor
and and David Moore, very good friends of mine who
are also teachers at Morgan Academy. And this is how
all this happened last year.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (23:09):
And then I came back this year, and it was
tough to come back because I had told him. Tommy
had texted said, I know that you've got the first
week of the show. The situation with your aunt, is
the hunt still on? Do you need to I'm like,
I guess, I guess I'll go.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
I committed to it. I can make it happen. I
think I committed to it. Great. Don't you hate when
you when you commit something, people expect you to do
it even though you suffered through it. Yeah, doing it
for a good call. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
And I told him, you know, look breakfast if you were,
if you were a Catholic, that army starting the process,
See if you were.
Speaker 4 (23:42):
And then you throw in winter weather.
Speaker 7 (23:44):
I'm like, I guess I can get through it and
get there, and so I I you know, I ventured
out Friday after we did what we did in the
parking lot, which people loved.
Speaker 4 (23:52):
You trying to pill out in the parking lot, by
the way, Big Hit got a lot of that. She
sure did. Yeah, I was worried one time. I'm about
that light.
Speaker 7 (24:00):
Pole one time because you kind of started sliding into it.
But I knew what I was into, and I got
around a corner and I kind of made my way
there and picked up Tommy and and you know, listened
to great music and was just so excited about what
we were about to do.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
And but I was.
Speaker 7 (24:17):
I was struggling all weekend having to go through it.
But I had a great time, met a lot of
great people and saw a lot of familiar faces. Paul
Alexander with Alex FM, Selma Fellong w a LX. He
came out as he does, and he and his son
were there and got to see them again. And so
many familiar faces. And Hey, the deer, the deer, the deer.
Speaker 4 (24:39):
They had.
Speaker 7 (24:39):
They have a big dough contest and I think the
winner this day, This dough I think was one hundred
and thirty four pounds. Hey, and the bucks and good night.
There were so many I did, I did, and so
you know the Jaegers.
Speaker 4 (24:57):
They know you don't want to talk about this because
it was it was sacrifice for it is. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (25:01):
Yeah, they where they sit you out, there's some smaller fields,
but a lot of it because you know they're farmers,
so they they have cross you know, these huge fields
and some fields could be as much as like eight
hundred yards away. Uh, and so you might see something
that's you know, the next county.
Speaker 2 (25:19):
Like I have to say, Tomy Leonore has lost waiting
looks great, Yeah he does, he does, I'm sure tell me.
Looks he looks like he's really coming been through some good.
Speaker 7 (25:30):
There's uh, there's Casey who is the oldest daughter, Lilian
who we all call Lil. And then you have Wendy,
and then you have Jamie. It's the Yagers and they
have a bell Place farm and they they showed us
all the stuff. This is this is the family that
I said I wish I could farm. I would love
to be a farmer. And then I see I see
their schedule and what they have to go through, and
(25:50):
I think, well maybe not.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
Maybe I just visited a barn. Can I walk through
your barn?
Speaker 3 (25:54):
And uh?
Speaker 7 (25:55):
He had to he had they had the state of
the art barn, Greg and there was there were so
many cool.
Speaker 4 (25:59):
Things, the equipment, and uh, I just I had time
in my life. But it was sacrificing. But right here, Yeah,
that's Paul.
Speaker 7 (26:06):
That's a that's who uh runs and owns us in
some Alabama w A l X. And he's just the
enthusiasm he has uh And he said, hey, the response
were getting from the Rick Burgess show. People are loving it.
And so it was great to see him.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
Why he's gonning because you sacrificed. You know, it's called
Greg Treasures in Heaven.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
Yes.
Speaker 4 (26:31):
So, so you were out in the field.
Speaker 7 (26:33):
And you would you see any that you were like
I saw there was one hunt. Have you ever been
on one of those hunts where you just stopped counting?
You're like, I've seen so many deer, I've lost count.
And there were some hunts like not really of course
I wasn't sacrificing. Yeah, well, it was tough sitting there
having to count like that.
Speaker 4 (26:49):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (26:50):
There was one hunt that I think it was the
Saturday morning hunt when we were hey, man, we're gonna
stay out there until she started texting saying breakfast was.
Speaker 4 (26:59):
Really home on this again, and then we're again.
Speaker 7 (27:02):
They We were like, well, we come on, y'all. You
can come get us whenever you're ready. Well, you just
let us know. So cold, whenever you're ready.
Speaker 4 (27:09):
So cold.
Speaker 7 (27:10):
Yes, there I glassed. I had to range find her
at six hundred and three yards.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
Oh my, I can't see.
Speaker 7 (27:18):
I won't say biggest book I've ever seen, but I'll
say this it's it was a giant and.
Speaker 4 (27:22):
You can tell that from that distance. It must time.
Speaker 7 (27:24):
He caught my eye and and then I threw up
my binoculars and I was like, oh my gracious alive.
And of course then he went right back in the woods.
And it's funny as a hunter, you start thinking, well,
he'll come back out right here, you know, because he
was tracking the day.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
How do you ride that hope just that he'll gets
you through at least another hour of cold, at least
to me get you another hour of cold.
Speaker 7 (27:44):
And the wind's blowing about fifteen miles out of the norder,
and and that that length of a shot. I'm not
going to try something like that, you know. And he
was following a dough is rut is kind of cranking
up there, and she went right on in. I was
hoping she'd walk the tree line to kind of get
in a a better spot. And and he never came
back out. But I dreamed about him last night because
(28:07):
he's one of those bucks that the height on that rack.
I can't tell you how high that rack was. If
I hold my arm up, it might be that tall.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
Yeah, but he was. He was that big that far away.
Could you imagine what has been close up if you
could identify and being big Yai yard. I can't reh
my goad.
Speaker 7 (28:29):
But I had to come back in and she had
like you know, connect of sausage and and you know, eggs,
and she even had she even had coffee ready.
Speaker 5 (28:38):
Uh.
Speaker 7 (28:39):
And so I had to get through that. And then
we had to go to the farmer's market and have
meeting three uh and and.
Speaker 4 (28:44):
You know in Oraville. Uh.
Speaker 7 (28:46):
And then go back and listen to this, stay awake
to go back out.
Speaker 4 (28:49):
For an afternoon.
Speaker 7 (28:52):
And then I go back out in the afternoon hunt
and I'm driven right to where I'm gonna sit and
see so many deer it's unbelievable.
Speaker 4 (28:59):
You have to get through that and then go eat
a catfish dinner. Good night.
Speaker 7 (29:02):
We may nickname you probably Lee and the people are
just the greatest people ever.
Speaker 4 (29:08):
And then the hunting is second to nine.
Speaker 7 (29:11):
But in that community, in all seriousness, they've been through
a lot with the tornadoes two weeks two years ago
and then Caden, their quarterback, just sixteen years old. Uh,
he collapses in the middle of the game and ends
up losing his life. Last year, last August, we talked
about that and that so that that that that community
(29:31):
has seen tragedy right in the face, and the way
they get together and and you know, their strength and numbers,
and that community has a lot of spiritual leaders and
people in the right place and and so it was
a lot more than just hunting this past weekend, but
it sure was fine.
Speaker 4 (29:46):
And my hat goes off to all of them.
Speaker 7 (29:50):
That just really the amount of could you imagine the
amount of meetings and stuff to organize stuff like that
that many hunters coming in.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
Thank you for your second Well I got through it.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. The truth needs no apology,
The Rick Burgers Show.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
Here we go. Thank you for being with us today.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
Our number is eight eight eight six Big Box and
we'll get some phone calls in today. The text option.
Speaker 4 (30:37):
We're seeing that. That's that's there. I announced earlier.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Some of you missed that coming out one week from
this past Saturday. So this coming Saturday, on the eighteenth,
wherever you get podcasts, Rick and Bubba's Greatest Hits, So
we will have a podcast. It's just devoted to the
thirty one years of the Rick and Bubba Show. And
you just get that wherever you get podcast just search
(31:01):
that coming up on Saturday. As some of you are asking,
is that going to be on the YouTube channel and
that's a no, it is a It's strictly a podcast,
so that's what that is.
Speaker 4 (31:10):
Of course, the YouTube.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
Channel does have old shows from from the past on it,
the old Rick and bubb universities and all of that.
Speaker 9 (31:19):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (31:19):
But but yeah, not there. And we also it'll it'll
just h this will just be a podcast only, uh
and you can get it wherever you get podcasts. Also,
I want you to know that the Rick Burgess Show
Facebook page we launched that last week. Some of you
were like, hey, where's the Wednesday Bible Study. We didn't
have control of that page. We share it with Blaze TV.
(31:40):
Because we did, they did decide to go on with
the Rick Burgess Show, which we were flattered by that
and honored by that. You still get a best of
I were there on Blaze TV. But they also are
doing a good job of kind of updating you on,
you know, the latest in news. They do such great
news coverage. So some of you are like, hey, I
like that the news show doesn't do as much of that,
but I still want to be updated. Uh, And that's
(32:02):
a great source for you too, So we'll kind of
give you the funny and they'll give you the new stuff,
and but we will update you on the big headlines
here as well. Like, uh, the concern you know a
lot of people are talking about this inauguration coming up,
and I hate, I hate to even live in this
world because I don't want to think that my country
(32:23):
has gotten to this place. But you know, there's some
legitimate concerns about should President Trump on inauguration Day just
simply go in private, be sworn in, and.
Speaker 4 (32:35):
Get to work. Greg.
Speaker 2 (32:36):
I know you have always been not a fan of
the of the pomp and circumstance of inauguration day, especially
if a president has already served one term.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
Now this one is a little different because it's staggered that.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
It used to drive you crazy if somebody's serving back
to back and you're like, why an't we doing the
inauguration again what you did last time? Just keep going,
complete waste of time.
Speaker 4 (32:58):
Yeah, yeah, if it's the same guy, and I'll get
this is different because there was a I guess it's different.
We did have a break between when you go back
to back and we do it all this over again.
It's been all this money and everybody does the same guy. Yeah, hey, buddy,
stick your hand up. You remember the oath you took.
Keep going that.
Speaker 2 (33:18):
But but I was well, I was telling Speedy and
I don't want to get into conspiracies and all that,
but but I was telling Speedy, you know, on the
road lot especial get yeah, and we'll update some of that.
Got some stories from that coming up, a lot of
travel and still still here. So the I happened to
(33:39):
see and and I don't know if playing this is
the don't feel pressure because I don't. I don't want
when this kind of stuff goes out there. And I'm like,
I don't want to because let's face it, journalism is dead,
and I, like Dan Bongino, I'm not anti Dan, and
he's he seems to be a trusted source, and I'm
pro but I don't want to be reckless, you know,
(34:02):
like everybody's willing to be now. But but he seemed
to be suggesting, and of course he has quite a
background that he thinks if he if it was him,
if he was in charge, they would not do a
public inauguration. They would do it privately and just tell
Trump to get to work.
Speaker 4 (34:18):
He said. He said, I think I think there's a
huge security risk. You know, that's a good point of
doing that. And should I even say what he said? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (34:26):
Can I just can I just this is a direct
Can I can I throw this out by simply saying
that I do not know that there's any validity to
this whatsoever.
Speaker 4 (34:36):
This is the.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
Opinion of Dan Bongino, not your opinion, not my opinion,
because I don't know. He says that there's some intel
of a drone attack that that you know, if he's
out there. I mean, well, I don't think he's saying
that others know. But what he's saying is because we
(34:57):
are living in a time, We're living in a time
where Snipper's sure, that's one issue We've seen that already,
by the way, couple of times, and and of course
he did. Now I will say this is Rick's point,
not Dan's. Might have been the same parallel thinking. I
do know, as does everyone listening to this and everyone
in this room. People have tried to kill Trump twice
(35:18):
already that we have now that we know yet, Yeah,
that's that's.
Speaker 4 (35:22):
Not a conspiracy theory. Very strange that we know.
Speaker 2 (35:25):
Is it wise to just have him standing out there
like this big mob of people? And bon Genos seem
to say, well, look, I'm concerned to some of these
drone people. I mean that there could be our enemies
even and if you're trying to that there could be
a if they put the drones in there. Now you say, well,
we have defense against drones, and I'm thankful that we do,
(35:48):
and I assume we do. But it I think the
point he was making, and I was getting bits and
pieces and I kind of agree with it. I understand.
We don't want to be cowardice, and we want to
be you want to have courage, and we.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
Want to be bold. I got all that, and I
all in on all that.
Speaker 2 (36:06):
I don't live my life afraid, you know, people were
talking about things that even we're experiencing right now, because
you know, we're living in a time where I think
mental illness is at all time high and people have
kind of lost a grip on reality. But you know this,
this is not my first battle. Been through a lot
of battles. I don't live my life terrified, but I
(36:27):
also don't want to live my life, you know, doing
things unnecessary, Like why would I unnecessarily put myself at risk?
And I'm you know, if all of us are excited
and I am about returning to Trump's leadership for the country,
the economy, all of that, is it worth the risk?
Speaker 4 (36:48):
And because you know, he loves this kind of stuff
and he's probably not going to want to not know,
I understand why he would not want to do I
get that, But I also go to him, like we
said early, and go, look, you've done this before. You
did it. Ain't like you didn't get to do it, right,
It's just thing's safe.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
Yeah right, And uh, but I understand, what if you
do that now you've caved to fear mongering.
Speaker 4 (37:09):
I got I understand that.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
It's tough.
Speaker 2 (37:11):
It's a little balance there, you know, it's one of
those things where you go, if it all works out,
then you're like, look at it, Look at us, How
bo we are. We stood in the face of you know,
all these people who hate him. He's been shot at twice,
and once again, look at God's hand on him and
look at that protection. I understand that that narrative, but
if it goes bad, we're talking about just swearing him
(37:34):
in so we can get to work.
Speaker 5 (37:36):
Right.
Speaker 7 (37:37):
Those that followed Bongino said that he's also very concerned
about an outdoor rally. I think Trump might have the
day before or something like that. Yeah, and again I
don't know. And was that video or just a video?
It was video post. He posted it on his own
he'll post. I went on back trying to find it,
(37:57):
and I can what pulled me.
Speaker 2 (37:59):
We pulled, Yeah, so what what you wanna play when
we come back? But what pulled me in was when
I saw him. You look that you can see the
you know, the the words, and I saw him save
it was up to me. I would just swear him
in privately and let's get to work. And I thought, oh,
what's this about?
Speaker 8 (38:16):
As long as there's as long as there's no sloped roofs, around.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
You know the secrets handles, right.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
Well, there's that's part of it. Are they with me?
You know all that this is the.
Speaker 1 (38:29):
Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 9 (38:43):
Listen up, you know what we say. You gotta find.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
Broadcasting from the The Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
All right, here we go, Thanks for being with us.
Hello America.
Speaker 2 (39:07):
As a Ken Osborne just told you the Rick Burgess
Show always broadcasting from the real world, shaking everyone out
of the fake world, and we do have a much
to cover going forward. You can join us at eight
eight eight six Big Box. You can also Texas. Many
of you texting us now so like getting that feedback
(39:31):
as well America's Boldess radio stations carrying The Rick Burgess Show.
You can also catch us on our YouTube channel, our
tune in app, and every day the audio archives available
on The Rick Burgess Show podcast channel. So the gang
all here, Speedy, Greg Adler and we were just discussing.
(39:56):
You know that's coming up on Monday. Here here are
things that are coming up on Martin Luther King Junior Day,
the National championship in college football, and the inauguration of
Donald Trump.
Speaker 4 (40:10):
I'm very proud of myself, incredible, So it's this is
coming up one week from today.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
So there's concern of security. I mean, rightfu rightfully. So
there's been two attempts, not one, two attempts to assassinate
Donald Trump, sadly, and so Dan Bongino on his ex
account and I guess his podcast and all this, and
(40:50):
what is his background that he worked with?
Speaker 4 (40:52):
Was it Secret Service? Yea with Secret Service?
Speaker 2 (40:55):
And he said if it was him, I'm paraphrasing, but
you hear it in this clip. He would just swear
him in privately and just let tell Trump to go
to work, would not do this big outdoor production. And also,
as you just mentioned and others are saying on the
text option, he's not crazy about this rally that Trump
wants to have that's outside right before the inauguration. So
(41:15):
he's throwing a rally in there. Yeah, here is Dan Bongino.
Speaker 10 (41:19):
They've wasted time targeting Americans with MAGA hats, Moms for Liberty,
pro lifers, targeting the evil white supremacist around every corner,
and they have not thought through the threat of a
swarm of drones taking out a crowd of people or
taking out one of our protectees with an inauguration right
around the corner and Donald Trump not able to do
(41:42):
anything about it because he's not in power for two
more weeks.
Speaker 4 (41:46):
You think the Secret Service is prepared for this?
Speaker 5 (41:49):
M m.
Speaker 4 (41:50):
Are they tying this to all the drone sightings? I
guess weirdness? Yeah, I guess. Never did figure out what
that was, right, I've never heard of public statement out here.
Now some of these were legitimate, well okay, but some weren't, right.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, no one's ever done, and I think
I would have liked it, Greg, No one's ever done.
Speaker 4 (42:09):
Today. We talked about the drums, yeah, and got to
the bottom what it is. We're clearing up all drone
rumor today, we're clearing the air about drone situations. Wish
they would.
Speaker 2 (42:20):
Yeah, So I don't know. Again, I'm torn as as
others are saying. And I know that true. I know
that's true. I know what Donald Trump wants to do,
and that is whatever he wants to and to stand
there boldly and defiantly. And I can get on board.
I like that attitude. I like that courage. But then
you also just want to don't want to be unnecessarily cavalier, so.
Speaker 4 (42:46):
Reckless as that word.
Speaker 7 (42:47):
Yeah, and we know he'll be behind the glass like
they always are and all that. But I think to
Dan's point, it's much larger than that. He thinks it
could be a big event of some type of attack
or some type of situation that we aren't expecting.
Speaker 8 (43:01):
I will say that I was surprised when Donald Trump
came to Huntsville for a rally at the big Huntsville
Downtown Center.
Speaker 4 (43:10):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (43:10):
And then and this was several hours before the event.
Speaker 8 (43:13):
I got down there and I got I was shooting
b roll of all the city and all that, and
I've got my drone out, and I'm like, let's see
if this thing works. Really, I wasn't sure if they
would have some kind of jammer or something like that
already in place in the area.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
But I was able to fly it. I was surprised.
Speaker 8 (43:32):
But don't they have as far as during these events,
you've got to think that they've got something in that truck. Yes,
she's just gonna jam anything that tries to get up
in the air.
Speaker 3 (43:42):
Right, you would think you would think.
Speaker 2 (43:44):
Right, Yeah, you would think that you would think about
I also would back to your comment going into last break,
I also would have thought, if you you know, were
a kid crawling on.
Speaker 4 (43:54):
Top of you find what if you find her in
a rye full? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (44:00):
Uh, and you got you. You nearly shot the president
and the head. I would have thought that would have
been an easy stop as well.
Speaker 3 (44:08):
Yards from can see him.
Speaker 4 (44:10):
Yeah, someone, but.
Speaker 2 (44:13):
Thank goodness, we've met all quotas with the Secret Service.
Speaker 8 (44:16):
You remember Trump's first niuration when he was walking down
the parade and there was like that Secret Service guy
and you could tell he had a fake arm.
Speaker 3 (44:24):
You'll remember that. Oh yes, that was kind of reassuring.
Speaker 8 (44:27):
I was like, that's kind of cool with a fake
arm because underneath that jacket is probably a very large gun.
Speaker 5 (44:32):
Correct.
Speaker 2 (44:33):
But apparently though with the last one of the last attempts,
the fake arm never moved.
Speaker 4 (44:38):
So where was the fake arm guy?
Speaker 3 (44:41):
We need guy?
Speaker 2 (44:43):
I'm okay with fake arm, I am I am anti
fake protection. So I don't know. I don't know about this.
I'm torn on how to handle this because you do
say this, well, if we don't do it, then the people,
the fairmongers win, but then if they killed the president,
they win to So you know, when I.
Speaker 8 (45:04):
Found a picture of the fake arm guy, where was
he that day? He looked straight up out of the
video game hit Man. He looks like, gracious, where's that guy?
We need that guy around all the time. Please, my goodness.
Speaker 4 (45:20):
You know that was the same move that guy that
you should do. That you that he had. He had
a fake arm around. That was his name.
Speaker 11 (45:28):
He was.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
He would he had come out and that you would attack.
That's how his bit ended every time was the turning
on him. A Madican arm had a Medican armor. What
was that guy? Yeah, something like that.
Speaker 3 (45:42):
He was on me Rod holl And the Yes, he
was on.
Speaker 4 (45:45):
The Tonight Show a thousand times.
Speaker 3 (45:47):
Oh yeah, Oh so he's just a funny puppet guy.
Speaker 1 (45:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (45:50):
Yeah, but see the arm on around it's a fake
arm and and the standard move is always at the
eventually turns on him.
Speaker 3 (46:03):
Fantastic. I didn't know about this guy.
Speaker 4 (46:05):
Oh yeah, you didn't know about him. No, we were kids.
Speaker 3 (46:08):
He was big, Yeah he was.
Speaker 2 (46:10):
This was way before Liberty started doing their think okay god, yeah, yeah,
he was way ahead of his time on humor.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
That is fun.
Speaker 8 (46:20):
Yeah but yeah, the arm around it so bad now,
but back then, Wow, that's the greatest puppet ever.
Speaker 4 (46:25):
Yeah, quality puppet. Yeah, it was so And I will
say that wait a minute, easy, Sorry, he was to
go sit on that?
Speaker 2 (46:38):
Yeah, I think I think Adler, you des grabbed a
random video and this must have been more of the
theater show, not not the one that was on the
tonight show.
Speaker 4 (46:47):
Was the adult them that one. I've never seen that
particular movie. No, so I don't know. I understand.
Speaker 2 (46:55):
You could sit down and make a case to me
that you can't cower in fee yeah, and I would,
and I would be walk a wife going yeah, that's right.
And then you could sit down and make case to
me going why would we even chance this?
Speaker 4 (47:07):
And I probably feel good about that too. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (47:09):
Yeah, So but anyway, I just I just wanted to
get him sworn in and let's let's keep broly.
Speaker 5 (47:14):
Yea.
Speaker 4 (47:14):
Yeah, we didn't get back that pretty quick.
Speaker 7 (47:16):
Yeah, week from day A lot going on, like you said, lot,
lot lot happening, lots a lot going on.
Speaker 4 (47:21):
So so anyway, right, we'll come back.
Speaker 2 (47:24):
When we come back, we'll chat with you America at
eight eight eights the number six Big Box if you
want to join us, and we'll chat with you, find
out what's on your mind. Still to come stories from
the road. We got some some updates from all the
travels over the weekend. We'll also continue to update you
what's going on around the world as the Rick Burgess
(47:46):
Show continues right after this.
Speaker 1 (47:49):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Okay, are you ready
to bring something to the table?
Speaker 4 (48:08):
Cool?
Speaker 1 (48:08):
No, and get on the show on eight eight eight six,
Big FuG.
Speaker 4 (48:14):
What's on your mind? America?
Speaker 2 (48:16):
Greg Bird just taking your phone calls right now at
the number Ken Osborne just gave you.
Speaker 4 (48:20):
Of course, you know you got the will of bundles,
bits and bucks over there. You never know, you have
an electric call, you make a good point, you entertain us.
Speaker 5 (48:34):
You never know.
Speaker 4 (48:35):
We could also that thing just light up and all
of a sudden you picked somebody and they're spending for you,
and you could win a bundle, you could spawn a bit,
or you could get some bucks.
Speaker 2 (48:47):
Two thousand dollars already been given away on the old wheel,
so dollas up right now. The real Greg Bird just
taking your phone calls and then you can join us.
So I want to remind you a couple of things
coming up. So we do have three not one, not two,
but three manchurch conferences coming up, three cities, three powerful weekends.
(49:07):
You can see who's all speaking there. We're gonna be
interviewing a lot of speakers too over the next few
weeks that are going to be there. We had Granger
Smith on Friday. But if you want to join us,
you need to make the move now to the Manchurch
dot Com. If you bring your groups in a lot
of you doing that, If you bring your group of
ten or more, you're gonna get ten dollars discount per ticket.
(49:27):
So that gets you a discount that for groups that'll
be coming. You can find hotel accommodations there. You can also,
as I said, see the list of speakers, everything that's
going to be going on all at Themanchurch dot Com.
Birmingham is coming up on January the twenty fourth, so
we're getting really close to that one and then on
to Panama City and then on to Atlanta, so those
(49:48):
tickets are available. Greg will be there, Speedy will be there,
Adler as well, joining all those with Team Manchurch. And
also a resource coming out that'll be exclusive to those
that are coming to the conference that we're really excited about.
You're gonna hear a lot about it everybody else next spring,
but if you're there, you actually get a first shot
(50:08):
at it, and we'll talk a little more about that
once we get to the conference. So there you go
the Manchurch dot com and we'll see all of you
coming up in those three cities this year, Lord willing
as far as the Deep South and dealing with snow
over the weekend, did you find yourself like me in
(50:29):
your neighborhood? Because Southerners remember when it comes to snow,
I mean you might as well. We have two reactions.
One is apocalyptic. We are certain that we may never
see the outdoors again, okay, and that we are trapped
in our homes forever. We cannot drive in it. We're horrible, driving, terrible.
(50:50):
But then there is the also, we don't know how
to play with snow all that well, we don't. And
I noticed in my neighborhood a number of attempts at
snow people, some very interesting.
Speaker 4 (51:06):
I noticed.
Speaker 2 (51:06):
One of the things that we that Southerners seem to
struggle with on snow people is a lot of you
went with some really large heads. You know, the head
needs to be smaller as the snow people come down.
And then I saw some some pretty accurate I mean
pretty pretty not accurate, but pretty creative. That's what we're
looking for attempts. In my neighborhood, we had a full
(51:28):
family of snow people. Oh you had dad, mom, and
and they had out there and so so it was
interesting to watch.
Speaker 8 (51:35):
Now.
Speaker 2 (51:35):
I did see some attempts at sledding that that went ugly.
Probably shouldn't pull your kids on something with a motorized vehicle.
I mean, it could be fun, but I mean that turn,
you know, it's wild.
Speaker 4 (51:51):
It's like pulling the skiar.
Speaker 2 (51:53):
But Southerners, every time it snows for us, we think
we'll never see it again in our lifetime.
Speaker 4 (51:58):
So that's that's that's why we the way we do.
I notice even the dogs love it. They did. Yeah,
they're not quite sure about it. Not quite. I'm gonna
start eating it.
Speaker 2 (52:07):
Yeah, So to the phones we go. Zach is in
the beautiful state of Tennessee. I was right on the
Tennessee line last night at one intersection. If I turned right,
I would have gone into Tennessee, Okay, And I turned
left from stayed in Alabama.
Speaker 4 (52:19):
So Zach, welcome to the show. How are you today, buddy?
Speaker 12 (52:23):
I'm doing good?
Speaker 5 (52:23):
Y'all right?
Speaker 4 (52:24):
Yeah, we're doing great, awesome.
Speaker 12 (52:26):
I wanted to shout out Brody real quick because I
finally got to watch y'all's summit documentary. And I don't
know if this is a real term or not, but
the cinematic comedy that he brought to the whole documentary,
just the way that he edited the clips and cut
at certain spots made the whole thing so much funnier.
(52:47):
And it was just hilarious to get to see how
y'all work together. And I feel like Brody encapsulated it
really well, just by the way that he even edited
and commented and clipped everything together. So it was an
incredible documary. It was really good and I'm looking forward
to get to see a lot more.
Speaker 2 (53:03):
You know, he's an interesting story and you know, and
when you're working with family, it's always an odd dynamic.
But but he trusts me. Greg's been here sixteen seventeen
years now. But but no, I think the point that
you made and I will pass that along to him.
You know, he just seemed to be drawn to this
kind of like the way I was drawn to radio.
(53:24):
I mean, he couldn't.
Speaker 4 (53:25):
He was doing this.
Speaker 2 (53:26):
When he was like a little bitty kid shooting things
and you have to understand and you can see this, Zach,
I think you picked up on something. One of his
influences is the whole mockumentary format the Office for instance.
I mean, you know, there was a time I had
to tell him, you're not Jim Halbert. You know Halbert
(53:47):
from the Office. He loves the Office. So I think,
you know, he has some skill that's his own. But
he's also, like all of us, been influenced a good
bit and comedy is probably the most difficult thing you
can do, and in entertainment and and trying to edit
where what what were what is supposed to be funny
actually is funny, And uh yeah, I thought, of course,
(54:10):
I'm you know, I'm prejudiced, but uh and you're you're
on You're one of a lot of people that are
telling me that that watched it, that that he did
his part too as the person who's editing, to be
sure that those lines landed and the looks on the
faces and the moments that you the viewer actually were
were taken there. So did you did you laugh at
the fact that what we talked about how poorly lit
(54:32):
camp house is?
Speaker 11 (54:34):
I mean, it was it.
Speaker 12 (54:36):
Was hilarious, but I was also incredibly disappointed because I'm
just like everybody else and I would love nothing more
than to be able to sit on the couch with
y'all and watch a football game. But I was a
little frustrated that, like I didn't get to see it
as well, didn't get to see the faces. But it
did add to so much of the comedy. So please
tell Brody to keep it up because he's definitely got
something going.
Speaker 4 (54:55):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (54:55):
Episode two. It should be releasing it. It really shouldn't
be that long, he mentioned to me. He said, Hey,
tell everybody, episode two is coming. But I'm glad you
enjoyed that. And this is one of those things, as
you saw, when people start saying, well, what are you
guys going to do, you know with the Rick Burgess Show,
And one of the things, because you know our years
(55:16):
in this business, over those thirty one years, all of
this content. Everybody wants content, everybody wants behind the scenes, everybody.
It's relatively new, so we wanted to be sure that
when this show hit the ground running, since it didn't
start a long time ago and then evolve into this,
it's starting while all this is expected, and so you're
(55:37):
going to see us use our YouTube channel and our
social media to give you a lot of stuff like that.
So I think the more of that we can do,
the better. So look for more of that as we
take you into different parts of the world.
Speaker 4 (55:51):
Behind the scenes. And I'm glad to hear that this
has been received the way we hoped it would.
Speaker 5 (55:57):
Yes, thank you so much.
Speaker 12 (55:58):
I know he can tell him he can take his time,
but at the same time, hurry up.
Speaker 4 (56:03):
All right, thanks, I appreciate it. Poor job. What's going on?
Speaker 6 (56:06):
Job?
Speaker 9 (56:07):
Job?
Speaker 4 (56:08):
What's up?
Speaker 11 (56:10):
Hey?
Speaker 5 (56:10):
What's going on?
Speaker 13 (56:11):
Fellows?
Speaker 4 (56:11):
We're good, buddy.
Speaker 2 (56:15):
Oh what happened to Chop?
Speaker 4 (56:19):
There you go? You're back?
Speaker 6 (56:20):
Go ahead, Hey, I was hoping, uh, the one handed
guy that eventually he keeps that one hand for the
next four years Trump and little things happened to it
and eventually it starts looking like the hand on Carl
Weathers in the Happy Gilmore change anything to it?
Speaker 4 (56:46):
That that that's a great one. Yeah, yeah, let's let's
let's hope that it's ah, it develops, it'll probably have
its own Instagram at some point, his own exec bottom
of the hour.
Speaker 2 (56:58):
If you haven't seen what Zach was talking about, Episode
one tells from the camp house on the YouTube channel.
Episode two coming sooner than later. We'll continue to unpack
the day when the Rick Burgess Show continues right after this.
Speaker 1 (57:18):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, still denying any involvement
in the food fights of nineteen seventy nine.
Speaker 4 (57:40):
Rick Burgess totally framed on that one, all right, So
bottom of the hour, actually thirty five minutes now past
the hour. Field of greens. Oh, I love field of greens.
Where would I be without field of greens? I just
I love it. Let's just get real.
Speaker 2 (57:56):

get it, but I mean, you know, you fall off
the wagon.
Speaker 4 (58:04):
Trying to do just a little bit better, and and
I gotta I gotta come off this holiday thing. Rick,
let it go. But you got to get back to it.
You got to get You can't, you can't continue. No,
you don't need that.
Speaker 2 (58:20):

you Rick, you know you know you've said it. You've
been told this, and you know it to be true.
You can't out work bad eating. No, you know this.
You're too old for that. Your body can't take what
it would take. I mean, so there's been anyway, here's
the good news. Even if I mess it up. Field
(58:41):
of Greens make sure that I'm getting the nutrition.
Speaker 4 (58:45):
That I need.
Speaker 2 (58:46):
And what do you mean you need well, my my
vital organs, my immune immune system.
Speaker 4 (58:51):
Uh, you know one thing you can do.
Speaker 2 (58:53):
I think this this, I think this is fake crazy
world thinking somehow you can wear enough mask, you can
wash your hands enough, you can do this, do that,
and maybe I'll never get sick.
Speaker 4 (59:05):
Well.
Speaker 2 (59:05):
No, the one thing that you really need to concentrate
on and I have, and it's really helped make your
immune system strong. Okay, So if you're like me and
you're still trying to get back on your routine, Field
of Greens is so good. They're they're one hundred listen

into the weekend, going into the can so, Greg, I
want to know from you first, how was the accusation
that you're a little bit bow legged received? Did you
(01:00:10):
address that at home? Did Lisa comment on it? Did
your children chime in?
Speaker 4 (01:00:15):
You know, I didn't bring you on had Elis's birthday yesterday.
Did he ever say, Papa, why you bow legged?
Speaker 5 (01:00:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:00:21):
Wrong with your legs? What's wrong with you? Bulegs?
Speaker 14 (01:00:25):
Papa?
Speaker 4 (01:00:26):
It didn't come on the horse, Papa. That is nothing
against bow legged people. But I've never been called bull
legg right, I mean maybe something changes age. Can I
ride to town, Papa? Who is fast as Papa?
Speaker 3 (01:00:43):
Please let me get on?
Speaker 4 (01:00:44):
Uh So, no discussion. I can't believe your kids didn't.
Speaker 2 (01:00:48):
I mean, I thought you were headed into I thought
you read I thought you were headed into attack.
Speaker 4 (01:00:52):
Well, it's constant they I guess they didn't know about
it because there after me the whole time anything I
bring up. Get that. Okay, Okay, you already told us
that fifty times that you look like McDonald's papa.
Speaker 7 (01:01:11):
It must be a thing because there are everybody everybody
own pops.
Speaker 8 (01:01:15):
Yeah, we never played it. Greg has video from his
beach stay uh will yeah, in which he's on the couch.
He doesn't know anything's going to happen.
Speaker 4 (01:01:26):
Oh yeah, and then.
Speaker 3 (01:01:27):
He gets the respect for Papa. My goodness.
Speaker 4 (01:01:31):
So this and this is this is Taylor, your son
has been doing this ever since he was a kid.
He would he would sneak up behind me and he
not dirty underwear, but like clean underwear. He's taking it
to anyway. He was shoving over my head.
Speaker 1 (01:01:45):
Start.
Speaker 2 (01:01:47):
Yeah, So here's papa and noticed Greg can't get his
legs together. Here's Papa on the couch. So and then
this is this is what this is, Greg.
Speaker 4 (01:01:58):
I'm really why the tar would they do that to you? Papa? Papa?
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:02:13):
And then on Greg is a thing that.
Speaker 4 (01:02:16):
I didn't know. That's that's the way they do me
there he is you want to start doing that here?
Speaker 13 (01:02:21):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:02:21):
I don't. Okay, we can.
Speaker 3 (01:02:23):
We won't if you don't want us to. So what
we will if you want us to?
Speaker 4 (01:02:26):
What had you been doing because you were worn out
the beach? I think I was like day one. I
still ain't got my sleepy because I left. Yea, Why
is Marshall doing sleepy?
Speaker 3 (01:02:41):
Papa?
Speaker 4 (01:02:44):
I don't know where, but.
Speaker 14 (01:02:46):
Look put on wood he's hat, Papa. How's when I
ride Horsey on your knee? There's a rattlesnake in your boot? Papa,
you're my favorite dey. Why would your son do that too?
Speaker 4 (01:02:58):
He's been doing that about jellyfish at that point, watching
all of them a bit okay, right, and they'll grab them,
the little one, little clear ones. Oh yeah, uh huh,
those little moon ones. They won't stingy. Nobody your kids
can pick them. That had something like they're up telling
people that blown up balloon weird, look like plastic, right,
(01:03:21):
they were weird.
Speaker 8 (01:03:22):
So about the beach and about grandparents being around their.
Speaker 3 (01:03:28):
Kids at the beach. This clip is in our Videos
of the.
Speaker 8 (01:03:32):
Day, and I just gotta I gotta tell you why
while I have a chance, I want to bring it up.
Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
Okay, I just lost it. I lost it watching this clip.
Speaker 8 (01:03:40):
And the clip is it says my dad would take
a seashell hunting growing up when I was a kid.
Speaker 3 (01:03:45):
It was now I'm thirty years old, and he revealed
his secret.
Speaker 8 (01:03:49):
The grandpa was buying nice shells and then he throws
them out while the kids were brilliant. I'm just watching
this video while I was pooping this weekend and just.
Speaker 4 (01:04:02):
I'm losing it here we go, all right?
Speaker 8 (01:04:05):
So yeah, So I just wanted to know. Is this
something you guys have done. I'm looking at him planting them.
Speaker 4 (01:04:10):
I think I'm doing throwing them out for the kids
next year. I'm gonna do that me too. Why is
that moving to you? It's a scam? Why is the
thing I've ever seen? What a scam? Granddad? The kids
can find their own. What's he gonna do to throw
out a job for them?
Speaker 8 (01:04:26):
There's so much better than what you would normally finds.
Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
Just so ornate.
Speaker 9 (01:04:36):
It's the gravel the whole time.
Speaker 4 (01:04:38):
It's so or.
Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
Why do you let me now, Greg Gregy, Wait a
minute now, Papa, let me let.
Speaker 4 (01:04:47):
Me ask you this.
Speaker 2 (01:04:48):
Papa, A lot of Papa stuff, Marshall, Papa, listen. So
here's what I want to know about this. I got
a picture from your wife, and I know it was
cold because you went down there do in winter. Yeah,
and you're standing at the beach and looks like you
have your hunting boots on. Yeah, well you have your
hunting boots on.
Speaker 4 (01:05:08):
Well it's not really they're camouflaged, but they're not my
nice ones, but they're hunting boots. Was cold, you get
them in there? Pot But what But what I'm wondering is,
so you tell me you didn't walk the beach every
day in those spoots. I don't like the sand in
my feet you're wearing. I think I have this cold.
(01:05:30):
Have the shot you're doing it?
Speaker 7 (01:05:32):
Please tell me you're doing it because it was cold,
not because of the sand.
Speaker 4 (01:05:35):
Well, I don't like sand gets all over everything. You
got your boots in your back, hang on because it
was cold. It's coming to you. I'm texting. Okay, summertime,
I wouldn't have had them. Okay, there you go. I
needed that.
Speaker 2 (01:05:50):
So wait, but there's a shot. We're gonna see him
in these boots. You're on the beach. I know it's winter.
You can't walk around in hunting boots on the beach.
Why are you standing on your pinky toast, Papa, Well,
you got bow leg webbed feet, poppas the kids big toe,
don't touch the sand.
Speaker 3 (01:06:08):
Papa us one of the toast to Grandpa.
Speaker 4 (01:06:13):
It was funny as the kid, Papa. Papa kids had
had rubber boots on too, but they would go out
in the water and the water would come over the
tough course. Just take those off, okay, full of water?
Yeah yeah, I never thought about it fall the water.
I'm giving you a hard time because it looks so good.
I care about that, I know.
Speaker 6 (01:06:33):
But what.
Speaker 3 (01:06:35):
I got hung boots on at the beach.
Speaker 4 (01:06:37):
Papa, seen any deer today, Papa? But what is the track?
Speaker 9 (01:06:42):
Papa?
Speaker 3 (01:06:44):
Is this a deer tracker?
Speaker 4 (01:06:45):
I'll show you through.
Speaker 3 (01:06:46):
A Papa, why you got webbed feet?
Speaker 4 (01:06:51):
Papa? Maybe that's why my favorite he has to close
his eyes. I don't know why he ain't right? All right? So, Adam,
did you get into guy something?
Speaker 3 (01:07:02):
Emailing it to myself? I'm sorry.
Speaker 4 (01:07:06):
I wouldn't. Why won't you email it? Don't make you
do other steps when you text. Let me tell you
why I text things. And he knows why something's wrong,
and he's tried to fix it. I can't send a
video to him email.
Speaker 5 (01:07:16):
And just use.
Speaker 4 (01:07:24):
What's wrong with?
Speaker 3 (01:07:25):
Why are you in the water by yoursel?
Speaker 4 (01:07:28):
He's thinking about He's talking about a new beginning I
mean pretty good view. That's an outstanding How.
Speaker 3 (01:07:37):
Far away are you from everybody else? Why are you
by yourself now looking looking passively into.
Speaker 4 (01:07:43):
The water, never been around your whole family. I don't know
what he's doing.
Speaker 15 (01:07:48):
This completely this was There wasn't any waves, waves, m coade.
Speaker 4 (01:07:53):
Waves were I saw that on the thing on that like,
look there was not being the first one that's ready
to test before. Yeah, you've done it several times. Yeah,
that day that wasn't rough. The only day it looks
fantastic it was, but it was rough. Like I say, the
kids would wait out in and a sudden you look
(01:08:13):
that they'd fall and they save me, Papa, save me
when your moots Papa. But that actually that makes sense
because I bet the waters have to coach you morons,
like you say, let the water go off the top
though kind of defeats. Yeah, you don't see that your bowl.
Let just a little bit recommended. Maybe pigeon toes.
Speaker 8 (01:08:36):
It's a.
Speaker 3 (01:08:38):
Oh my gracious, I love to drag so much.
Speaker 11 (01:08:41):
But.
Speaker 4 (01:08:43):
Love me, Papa. Why are we done hunting, Papa?
Speaker 1 (01:08:45):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, Blood casting from the
New World The Wrick.
Speaker 4 (01:09:05):
Purchase another another week every.
Speaker 15 (01:09:11):
Ready a shy.
Speaker 14 (01:09:18):
All right.
Speaker 2 (01:09:18):
So looking back over the weekend, so this, this was
the this is what we were all facing, Southerners dealing
with winter weather better known as we all know as
the apocalypse. As a matter of fact, we couldn't even
travel for about eight or nine hours. Uh So anyway,
uh so we we dealt with that. So then that
(01:09:39):
did kind of throw a curve.
Speaker 5 (01:09:45):
That did.
Speaker 2 (01:09:46):
By the way, I want to Warren Adler, I want
to Arne Warren Speedy. I've already taken a little shrapnel. Okay,
I've took a few shots. Greg is injured and he
is lashing out.
Speaker 13 (01:09:56):
Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
Okay, so just just be ready, and I about to
walk right into one. You know, I'm about to walk
right into one. I might as well be walking into
the green field and stop and eat and turn broadside.
Speaker 4 (01:10:07):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:10:08):
So so we talked a little bit on Friday, What
a what a kind gesture when our when our wives
buys clothing, we wouldn't we really would we just keep
the same clothes all our lives if they didn't. Correct,
And so Sherry bought me a couple of shirts, and
one of them I wore on Friday and liked.
Speaker 4 (01:10:28):
It very much. I liked it very much.
Speaker 2 (01:10:30):
But then she said, well, you know, with with winter
like it is, and it's you know, a harsh winter
even to southerners to some degree on days, and could
could be coming up. You know, it's one of these
we're having a real cold winter and we're kind of
in that pattern here the last few years. So not
unprecedented by the way, as much as some of the
climate people want.
Speaker 4 (01:10:49):
You to believe. But but anyway, so she pulls out
shirt number two and it didn't take me long to
realize that it was a turtle note and uh, and
I probably college professor, Well here we go.
Speaker 1 (01:11:04):
Well let me let's go ahead and release the cracking.
Speaker 4 (01:11:09):
So I was, and and you know, it's one of
those things. Have you ever worked your syllabus?
Speaker 2 (01:11:14):
Have you ever shot something down so fast that you thought, wow,
I should have let that go a little longer, I said,
I said, turtlen necks out.
Speaker 4 (01:11:21):
You didn't give it?
Speaker 2 (01:11:22):
She goes, what And I said, turn turnnick, just send
it back whatever. Turtnecks out. She goes, and she goes,
why why are you Why would you why would you
not wear a turtleneck?
Speaker 4 (01:11:33):
I said, because uh, Greg, is item one.
Speaker 2 (01:11:38):
I said, because he ridicules us all every time we
wear something.
Speaker 4 (01:11:41):
I said, an item too.
Speaker 2 (01:11:43):
Every time I've done a turtleneck, I just felt like
that somebody couldn't quite choke me out. But they keep trying,
you know, they they've almost got me, but they really
don't can't finish it. So she says, I want you
to try out the turtleneck and I said, well, I'm not. No,
and and so of course I wore it. So so
(01:12:04):
then Sunday morning, she says, just wear it to church
and then wear it to your speaking engagement. And I said,
you talking about the one in Anderson, Alabama. I said,
maybe I'm not wearing a turtle. I can't do that.
That leads to a conversation having a minute. But but anyway,
(01:12:27):
so Greg, you you actually you actually have hit this
out of the park.
Speaker 4 (01:12:31):
Here's a picture of me in the turtleneck on Sunday morning.
Oh it's it's a loose turtle. Yeah it was. It
was hell yeah. And but but Greg, I know, I
know what you're gonna say, and I'm gonna go ahead.
And she doesn't have the ridges in it. No, I
can't tell. But she said, yeah. She says, what do
you think?
Speaker 2 (01:12:51):
And because my entire life Greg has made fun of everything,
She said, what do you think? Where do you think
Greg will go with this? I said, well, he'll know,
ever know, because I'm not wearing its work. And she said, well,
you're gonna have to show them Monday at work. I mean,
you know, Sherry is starting to realize she understands this
five hours to feel And I said, but I said,
(01:13:11):
and she said, what do you think Gregg's line? You
already said it? I said, what do you What do
you think Greg's line will be? I said, now, it
will have something to do with the college professor, what
you've already said. And I said, he'll probably go down
the line. If that's that.
Speaker 4 (01:13:23):
College professor, Hey, watch up, if he asked you to
come by his office, you know what I mean? I said,
it's gonna be the creepy college professor that you hope
your daughter never meets. That's what he's gonna say. Or
one I can't use on air that I'll tell you
later would have been thanks Thanks Greg.
Speaker 3 (01:13:38):
Hey, Steve jobs, you got an iPhone to sell us?
Speaker 4 (01:13:41):
Go ahead, let's get the latest. Let's let's get it
out of her sister. There we go. I know, even
when you wear that, you gotta get your beard a
little more perfect, in your hair, just a little bit
more right.
Speaker 2 (01:13:55):
But but that I told her, I said, maybe this works.
I don't think this look works for me. I don't
think I can sell this look. I just can't believe
that it didn't choke.
Speaker 4 (01:14:04):
I know.
Speaker 3 (01:14:05):
Yeah, And so we didn't have to look left or right.
Speaker 5 (01:14:10):
Well.
Speaker 2 (01:14:10):
As soon as I walked into the church, you know whatever,
I kept saying, show you what are you teaching today?
Speaker 4 (01:14:14):
I'm like, no, you know, this guy's bringing some wisdoms.
So I will say this, at least you have a neck.
Have you ever seen a no neck person try to
pull off the turtle neck? Gosh, you would go somewhere
like this. I knew you would go somewhere for them. Yeah,
so so so then have you have you? You know
(01:14:35):
how we're all married, we all been married a long time.
Speaker 2 (01:14:38):
This women and the wives that they can be so
confidently wrong, but they won't back off on it. And
and and I like when they're I like when they're
wrong about something that you absolutely know that you're right,
You absolutely know it, and they won't give in. They're
always assuming, and so I kind of skipp order here.
(01:15:00):
But I'd made the decision that I'm not going to Coldwater, Michigan,
you know, and the first time these people ever see me,
because ninety percent of that don't have any idea even
who I am anything about the show.
Speaker 4 (01:15:14):
They've seen me listed as the.
Speaker 2 (01:15:16):
Speaker at an event that's been going for twenty eight years.
And I said, I'm just another speaker there. I can't
let my first impression to the blue collar men of
small town Michigan be me in this turtleneck.
Speaker 4 (01:15:28):
So that's not even no no, And.
Speaker 2 (01:15:32):
So then she kept this theme that somehow I should
just go ahead and wear it since I wore it
to church, And I found myself, now, how weird is this?
Speaker 4 (01:15:43):
And we'll come back and talk about it.
Speaker 2 (01:15:45):
I found myself going, can I just get the turtleneck
box checked? If I wear it out the rest of
they can I be done with the turtleneck? And if
you notice idler for you, I think all my the
one there on my right is showing a little bit.
I tried to get I can't you. I've always had
(01:16:05):
a problem if the materials. Yeah, you see, I said,
show you this thing also, I think is one of
these kinds.
Speaker 4 (01:16:10):
I have an issue. I have a real issue.
Speaker 2 (01:16:13):
I worked so hard not to have man boobs, and
so I've accomplished that. But then I've got these prominent.
They're prominent, and I don't know what to do. Always
I don't know what to do about it. Always there,
and when I do a little tank top T shirt,
it's not enough. And so I think I pretty much
(01:16:33):
found the T shirt here that works, right?
Speaker 4 (01:16:35):
That's not so bad? Are you ran two shirts? Yeah?
Speaker 5 (01:16:39):
Wow? That hard?
Speaker 4 (01:16:42):
Two shirts and a turtle. But that's it was cold now.
I couldn't have done it. It was a cold day in Bama. Turtle,
that is a good That is a turtleneck pose right there.
Speaker 3 (01:16:54):
That's because you have to have a turtle to hold
up your extra launch breath.
Speaker 4 (01:17:00):
I'll tell you what happened. You won't believe it. Right
after this.
Speaker 1 (01:17:04):
This is the Rick Burgers Show.
Speaker 9 (01:17:19):
You better listen up.
Speaker 16 (01:17:22):
No, I say.
Speaker 9 (01:17:25):
Also, I'm gonna tell you gotta find.
Speaker 1 (01:17:33):
The voice of reason in an unreasonable world the Rick
Burgers Show.
Speaker 4 (01:17:39):
Thank you very much, making commitment at sixty years old
that I will no longer attempt to reason with unreasonable people.
Here reason truth in the real world.
Speaker 2 (01:17:51):
Right, all other things are rejected and no time wasted
on them.
Speaker 4 (01:17:57):
All right, So speedy Greg.
Speaker 2 (01:17:59):
Adler all here for the Rick Burgess Show, a brand
new hour.
Speaker 4 (01:18:03):
As you know, was asked a lot on the road.
Speaker 2 (01:18:06):
This weekend, So talk to me about booking the vox seats.
I want to come watch a show. And February has
already booked. A lot of people asking when do y'all
open it up again? And look toward the end of
this month, And there's a lot of reasons that we
over the years of learning this because we dealt with
(01:18:26):
the Golden Ticket seats and all that is, we've learned
kind of if you go too far out, then things
happen that we can't control and people we have to
cancel then people. If you go too short, then people
don't have an opportunity. So we kind of work in
thirty day increments. So when we get close to the
end of this month and February is about to start boom,
(01:18:49):
then we'll open up March.
Speaker 4 (01:18:50):
So there you go.
Speaker 2 (01:18:50):
So that way that seems to be a good deal
that we don't have people commit then not come and
then we don't have issues where we go. Well, we
thought we'd be here, now we're not so so anyway,
so that's about look for the end of January from
March to become available. So we're discussing travels on the
over the weekend. So I'm now talking with my wife
(01:19:14):
Sherry about the turtleneck, and I'm now trying to move
the turtleneck. Were at Sunday at church. Only so many
people can ridicule you at church. Apparently some people were
fine to do that, just not as many, just not
as many. So so then I start thinking, youbody, which
somebody has already text, somebody's already text you should have
(01:19:37):
spilt food on it, And so I thought I was
going to do that at lunch, and then Sherry says, well,
I know you're on the road again today, let's just
eat lunch at home. And what she had at home
it didn't really offer much opportunity to spill something on it.
Speaker 4 (01:19:53):
You know what you looked out here were life coach?
Thank you? Yes, thanks, thank you, Greg.
Speaker 2 (01:20:02):
But you'd like to speak to your life coach about
your bow legs and your struggle. So because I'm here
for you, I wear the turtle so so so then
and I'm skipping Michigan.
Speaker 4 (01:20:12):
I want to do this in word, I'll go back
to Michigan.
Speaker 2 (01:20:14):
So anyway, so we're sitting here on Sunday, because turtleneck
has its own life right now.
Speaker 4 (01:20:18):
And I did. I didn't wear it to Michigan. That's
a turtlenck.
Speaker 2 (01:20:21):
Yereahy it ain't no mot so so anyway, so these
these are the conversations those of you that want to
get married one day. These are the conversations only married
people have, Okay, especially been married a long time. This,
this man and woman is one of God's greatest jokes. Okay.
And so we're we're sitting there and you know how
they they they kind of think know what you're doing,
(01:20:42):
but then they kind of don't. And you know, I
had to run through the how did you book yourself
two days in a row? I don't know, baby, you
don't even You don't remember one of these, do you?
And I said, well, one of them was booked. I
guess I didn't remember it when the other one book
it came from two different areas. Uh, they've been booked
a long time and whatever, and she goes anyway, so
we through that, and she says, well you need to
(01:21:03):
where that. Just just stay with it and wear it
to wherever you're going tonight. Where are you going? Confidently
because I'm looking at it, because I'm getting my directions
together and everything. I say, going to First Baptist Church, Anderson, Alabama.
No you mean Andersonville. Well no, no, no, uh, literally
(01:21:24):
have it here on my phone. I'm looking at it.
I'm looking at First Baptist Church. I even see the
promotional item they used for the event. I'm confident it
clearly says Anderson. Baby, you need to correct. Please don't
say that because it's Andersonville. It's probably a guy named Anderson,
and those is probably Andersonville. There's no Anderson, Alabama, Honey,
(01:21:48):
I I you know, I didn't realize. I was married
to James spend and knows every town and county road
it is Anderson. Somebody could be named Anderson or whatever,
and it still get the when when they named towns rick.
Speaker 4 (01:22:01):
They always put veil on it.
Speaker 2 (01:22:03):
It's uh, you know, your your dad didn't coach in Jackson,
I said, I said, there is a Jackson by the way,
and well it's probably Andersonville. Just and I'm like, I'm
really confused on why you're staying with this since I
know this is not right. And then she says, well,
(01:22:26):
I tell you what if you're gonna give me a
hard time about that thing?
Speaker 4 (01:22:30):
And I don't, I don't.
Speaker 2 (01:22:31):
It's ridiculous. We have to wash all these clothes. At
least hang it up and uh. And we had gone
back and forth on this. At least hang it up
in your closet and work to work tomorrow. I said, work, please, work?
Why do you do that?
Speaker 4 (01:22:43):
I said, work? I said, you want me to wear
this into work where Greg is? I'd rather wear it
to Andersonville. I finally just gave I just finally gave in.
Speaker 2 (01:22:55):
And uh and so uh so they saw I did
wear it absolutely. And there's another picture, Adler, I think
I sent you, and it's me in Anderson by the way,
not Andersonville. Uh, in Anderson, Alabama, and I have it
on and I'm going in and of course this is
the two places I went or small town America. I
(01:23:15):
don't know how I thought that Southerners would be more
accepting of the turtleneck version of me versus Northerners. Uh,
but but I did. I just wanted to get it
over with. Wait a minute, you got to hire there. Then,
look you've been in a car.
Speaker 4 (01:23:30):
There's that.
Speaker 2 (01:23:31):
That's the that's the pastor of Heath going in the
lawsuit college. Look, that's that's Heath Harrelson. Thank you Heath
for trusting me and bringing me in anyway, what you do?
Speaker 4 (01:23:41):
You didn't vote it as good as the things have
been on me all day.
Speaker 2 (01:23:45):
I've been driving in the truck with bones. It has
been crazy. Rickmas had a whiplash or something. He's wearing
a neck brace.
Speaker 4 (01:23:53):
I did have somebody Alabama, I thank you about that.
I can I have a good moment and everybody get
off the turtle necks your chance? Can I give you
a good moment for the show?
Speaker 3 (01:24:06):
Guys?
Speaker 2 (01:24:07):
You know, hoping that maybe people will think this show
is successful and we get a we'll get an extra
another year of a contract. So so so look right here,
my goodness, no, this is a good sign.
Speaker 4 (01:24:18):
The show is only a week old. Oh my god,
I thank you. Will you go back to the guy
that's got one of the.
Speaker 2 (01:24:30):
Shirts sat down the pipe, so Greg, sit down and
tell me how both legs just making you feel a
yellow lab? Can we Can we have a good moment here?
Can we just have one good moment? So I'm here,
I can tell you that guy I don't like you
(01:24:51):
turtle neck. I can tell Look he already has one
of the new shirts.
Speaker 3 (01:24:55):
That's good.
Speaker 4 (01:24:56):
He comes up and going next year, we got a
turn net virgin coming on. Let'm gonna ask you something, sir.
First of all, thanks for being here in Andersonville. I
was wondering, what did you think about if we took
that same thing and maybe put it on a turtle neck?
(01:25:16):
Do you realize how out of turtleneck world I am
in anderson Alabama.
Speaker 2 (01:25:20):
Everybody there has a farm. That guy standing next to
you wouldn't wear a turtle neck. If he's like, he's
got he's got one of our shirts?
Speaker 4 (01:25:27):
He does? You know it's not a turble turtle. Did
you see that guy behind? Look he's going. That guy's
got a turback on. Look, something awkward on between me
and the gallon. All right, So I can tell a
guy that's exactly what happened to me. That's a's gonna
have the ladies having out to night. And I said turtleneck,
(01:25:56):
I'll say turtle said turlet a chick college professor thinks
I'm a co ed. Sorry about that. Sorry, sorry about that.
Speaker 8 (01:26:08):
Somebody suggested that you put put a flannel over it.
Speaker 4 (01:26:11):
Okay, no, that makes it work, makes it worse?
Speaker 3 (01:26:14):
That might help. No, don't cover it up.
Speaker 4 (01:26:20):
Somebody said they just saw many entry billboard. Here a
text from Bones. He says, they say laughing doesn't body good.
Speaker 7 (01:26:30):
I guess that means I'm the happiest guy around seeing
Rick in a turtle.
Speaker 4 (01:26:34):
Thank you Bones, Thank you Bones. That is a good event, though, Bones.
Speaker 2 (01:26:38):
Won't you worry lesson about my turtleneck? More about going faster?
How slow are we going?
Speaker 4 (01:26:42):
I might you to go faster? Boom block in the morning,
I'll tell you about Michigan.
Speaker 5 (01:26:50):
I'll you about Michigan. We get back.
Speaker 1 (01:26:52):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. This is the Rick
Burchase Show.
Speaker 5 (01:27:10):
Yeah it is.
Speaker 4 (01:27:11):
Thanks for being with us. We've covered a lot already.
Speaker 2 (01:27:13):
Don't forget the daily archives on the YouTube channel or
the podcast channel. Coming up this Saturday, a brand new
podcast featuring some of the greatest moments in the thirty
one years of the Rick and Bubba Show. It'll be
called Rick and Bubba's Greatest Hits in Radio Gold. It
will be wherever you get podcasts, and you will beget
(01:27:36):
it this Saturday.
Speaker 5 (01:27:37):
So add that to.
Speaker 2 (01:27:39):
Your listening pleasure as well. All right, So as we
come back, can can we move on from tournament?
Speaker 5 (01:27:46):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (01:27:46):
So sure that'd be great. And so that was Anderson, Alabama.
Beautiful place, very thankful. We had a great night there,
really good event they put together. They struggled a little bit,
you know, worried about the winter weather because they're they're
really mean. They're right on the Tennessee line. And as
Bones and I were going up through there, we we
(01:28:07):
were going okay, so wow, they still have some snow
and ice up here.
Speaker 4 (01:28:09):
A little bit before you move on, one quick now,
now what did you wear? I wore? I wore a turtle? Okay,
And that we were moving on one question.
Speaker 2 (01:28:21):
And also it's yeah, you would wish you get stuff right.
You would hope that at some point, y'all remember why
I went okay?
Speaker 4 (01:28:28):
So all right.
Speaker 8 (01:28:29):
So second, the name of the thing was called man Up,
breaking your turtleneck to man up.
Speaker 4 (01:28:36):
Oh my goodness. All right, now I'm surprised they let you.
Can I say this, I'm not even Joe.
Speaker 3 (01:28:40):
I forgot we're on the air right now, I'm not.
Speaker 4 (01:28:43):
You know that I love you this particular vein win
right now, I'd let Speedy and Greg have it.
Speaker 6 (01:28:50):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (01:28:51):
I don't know. You know, you challenging me on man
is gonna be a tough just saying you empowered that picture.
It's like you've added to it. Right. If you don't stop,
I'm gonna put you in my pocket and I'll let
you play anymore. Okay, buddy, So no, it's fine, Greg.
I mean, I just wonder how much you want to continue.
Speaker 2 (01:29:14):
Well, that's where Bones got Bones tried. You know, Bones
is that guy standing around the pile. Yeah, And I'm like,
you know, Gray's gonna hack on me, Speed, He's gonna
have on hack on me addler to some degree, I
don't think you can.
Speaker 4 (01:29:25):
And he is putting pipe in your figure like you're
you know what Bones eventually got, and he gets a
lot quicker than everybody else. I said, Bones, something about turtle,
Nick I said, do you think it's worse to wear
it or be the guy who got beat up by
the guy wording? You know which one?
Speaker 17 (01:29:41):
Make it?
Speaker 4 (01:29:42):
So anyway, we finished that up and I went backward chronologically,
so I apologize for that.
Speaker 2 (01:29:48):
So COVID Yeah, cold Water, Michigan. Okay, so we uh
you know, I'm now leaving the comfort of the Southern culture.
Bone suits the roads man for the band Church, He's
going with us. This was the Branch County Men of
Integrity and they they have been a group that has
(01:30:10):
been meeting together as men since Promise Keepers. By the way,
I heard that Bill McCarthy died. It they started from yesterday. Yeah,
and they talked about that there while I was there.
So this is a little bit different. I mean, I
go to Anderson, Alabama. Everybody remembers the Rick and Bubba show.
Everybody knows you know, all of us that do the
(01:30:30):
Rick Burgess Show, they know everything. It's my culture. I
was born and raised in the Deep South. But now
I'm being booked to go to Michigan where we're not
very well known.
Speaker 4 (01:30:44):
Okay. It was.
Speaker 2 (01:30:45):
It was really cool to see some guys drove over
from Grand Rapids and even not in Indiana that did
know the show. Not a lot probably either the five
hundred and fifty men there, they were probably five hundred
and forty six.
Speaker 4 (01:31:00):
They had no idea who I was. Okay, so so.
Speaker 2 (01:31:02):
Not only am I going to a place footprint where
we're not that well known. I'm also going to a
different culture. By the way, this is the beautiful thing
about our country. We got multiple culture Greg, you and I.
I if those four guys had not come, there's some
things I would share with you today that I don't
think I can because they were there. If i'd had
(01:31:24):
five hundred and fifty that I know, there's no way
they're listening right now. I have a couple of items
that'll be in the break, okay.
Speaker 7 (01:31:31):
And I'm sure you told them how they could listen.
I did some probably, Oh you're right. I didn't think
about it that I never even knew you more in
the break okay. So, but one of the funny things,
and these are wonderful guys, but guys, Southerners, you have
to understand, you know. I remember the first time that
I went to New York City, and I know that's
not Michigan, but there's a little much more blue collar
in Michigan. But I remember going to New York City
(01:31:53):
one time. It's just a good old boy from Alabama,
and people freaking out because I kept saying, hello, how.
Speaker 4 (01:31:59):
Y'all doing good to see you. How about it? People?
What are you doing? But here that's nothing that's very common, okay, good?
Speaker 2 (01:32:07):
Like when I went to Anderson, Alabama, you're right, thanks
greg They love us for this today when when I
get there, there are side hugs, there's bear hugs, there's
people coming up in motions say let me tell you
and I just want to talk to you about you
know what you should my in church and what and
it's there's a motion, there's Gregarious, it's how you doing?
Speaker 4 (01:32:30):
How's your mom? And them? You know, how's your wife doing?
What about the kids? How's how's how's O big love?
Do you know?
Speaker 2 (01:32:37):
I mean, that's how we operate in the South. We
know you even though we never met you, and we
roll not so much in the North, A little standoffice
not so much in the North, even in blue collar North.
I kind of thought, since it's a small town Michigan,
I'd still be okay. By the way I told Speedy
in the break, I finally found a reference point that
gave me some feeling that I knew where I was.
Speaker 4 (01:32:59):
It not far from Hillsdale College. Didn't know that. Some
about that comfort to me.
Speaker 2 (01:33:04):
I don't know why, but but cause we do commercials
and we had an intern from there and I got
one of their T shirts. Uh, probably talked about that
longer than the guy wanted me to. He wasn't as
interested in my connection to Hillsdale as I apparently was.
But but some of it I found that is just
it's just their culture. Okay, because this event, because they
did an incredible job. It was very well done, but
(01:33:31):
they're just not very warm. I mean, you you kind
of you kind of never know where you stand. Like
we were. You know, we knew we could fly out.
We finally got the clear in Alabama. We were a
little bit worried about what was going to happen there
because it's just a little small airport. It's not even
open on Saturday, and I mean I've landed places before.
We couldn't even get out because they'd locked the gate
(01:33:53):
because the guy decided he'd go home early because you
want to see the ball game, and you're like, you've
locked us in, you got to come back. We can't
even get out, and so but they the big deal
they worried about did they plow their runway because now
it's snowing in Michigan. As you just offered the picture
that Adler show. Now the snow there is nothing like
snow here. I mean, it's not even a snow. To them,
it was a very It was almost exactly four to
(01:34:13):
six inches that we have here, but they.
Speaker 4 (01:34:15):
Don't normal every road.
Speaker 2 (01:34:16):
And finally they had they had plowed, they had plowed
the runway, so we were able to come in with
with no issue or anything like that. But you know
how something gives you a little bit of anks, just
a little bit. Because I'm talking to.
Speaker 4 (01:34:28):
Oscar, which I've heard about and he runs his you know,
charter service and all.
Speaker 2 (01:34:32):
That, and and I and I thought I had already
knew bones to who the pilot was because he'd already
reached out the bones. And then when we get there,
we realize it's a different pilot, which is fine.
Speaker 4 (01:34:45):
Love we love Mickey too. Mickey's outstanding.
Speaker 2 (01:34:48):
But when I found out why, you just it's just
something about well, you know, Mickey's a little more savvy
with the you know, ice and snow and flying in it.
Speaker 4 (01:34:56):
What I thought, I thought everything was y'all given, like
the pro who are we are?
Speaker 2 (01:35:03):
We literally going to a pilot with more expertise in
winter weather as we what, Mickey, love you, Mickey.
Speaker 4 (01:35:09):
You're spooking me a little bit. Concert day. We're fine,
We're good, and I'm like, yeah, we do we change?
Speaker 2 (01:35:15):
I mean I like it. I like both of you.
But but you tell me, it matters who's flying us
on this. Are we in no conditions that that it?
Like now when when we better bringing Mickey he's the
he's the snow and ice guy and so. But we
didn't have any trouble at all, but we come back.
Speaker 4 (01:35:31):
It's just a different culture. I mean, it's just it's
just a different culture. I didn't realize how different the
culture can be.
Speaker 7 (01:35:37):
Is it like when I say hey to somebody going
to the bathroom in the building and they don't reply
and makes it?
Speaker 4 (01:35:41):
Is that that kind of feeling? Yes, he would be miserable.
Speaker 2 (01:35:45):
Yeah, this is what to do over greeterers should never
never go to Michigan. Okay, so we'll well, we'll be
right back hanging there.
Speaker 1 (01:35:53):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Sure you played a
(01:36:16):
little old Rick.
Speaker 2 (01:36:19):
Urches So thirty five minutes now past the hour, simplysafe
dot com slash Big Fox. Let me tell you, I'm
loving that they came along with us and said you
know what I'm in. I'm in, So let's talk a
little bit about why we're so glad they're out.
Speaker 4 (01:36:42):
Nobody's better.
Speaker 2 (01:36:43):
I mean they're they're the industry leader because they're so
far out ahead of everybody, you know, developing Wi Fi.
I remember this all started when they realized if the
old systems, if you had the rental property, you couldn't
even use them because the renter wouldn't let you. You
couldn't have a security system. So they started down that road,
but it ended up helping all of us because they
(01:37:03):
use all the modern technology. You can customize it to
your property. If you need some help, they'll help you,
but you can install it yourself. And then their live
guard protection now leading the industry. Why they can interact,
They can interact, but somebody comes on the property, Hey,
simply save here. What are you doing, Get off Burgess's land.
(01:37:24):
We don't know why you're here. And they do this
before they can ever enter your business, your home, your property.
And then also don't forget this. If there's a fire,
God forbid, we're hearing about that. A lot carbon monoxide,
a flood, some pipes burst, you know, with some of
this Arctic blast stuff. Well they can see all that
and get help quicker right now. We're giving you a
(01:37:46):
great opportunity.
Speaker 5 (01:37:47):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:37:47):
And by the way, the monitoring plans about a dollar
a day, but we'll give you a month for free
right now and get you a discount. So why don't
you go to simplysafe dot com slash big Vox fifty
percent off, fifty percent off simply safe dot com slash
Big Box. Also you're gonna also get a month of
monitoring for free on your monitoring plan, or just use
(01:38:09):
the link we have at Rick Burgess Show dot com.
There's no safe like simply safe dot com slash big
Box Safe. So we arrive in Michigan. Okay, different culture,
different culture, you know, and here comes old Southern boy.
I'm I'm the old gregarious, loud Southern. I'm not quite
the over greeter that Speedy is, but you know who is.
(01:38:31):
Look I don't I mean, I love to see, hey,
how y'all doing. I'm coming off the plane because that's
what I'm accustomed to. And so Bone says, well, there's
our there's our ride over there. It's a guy named Ken,
And so I was like, well, there's Ken. Good to
see Ken, and I see a struck pull up, and
of course what about thinking, I mean, I'm from I'm
from Sweet Home, Alabama. So I'm gonna go over there
(01:38:53):
and you know, just get all up. I'm gonna just
let Ken have a two barrel barrels full of Southern hospitality.
Speaker 4 (01:39:00):
Yeah, okay, come.
Speaker 2 (01:39:01):
In hot, and uh so I really wasn't that prepared,
uh for the You know, I think I was a
lot uh for for Ken. His name is Kent Todd,
and uh so I look up and say, hey, Ken,
what's going on?
Speaker 4 (01:39:18):
Yeah, good to see you guy. Mhm fired up? Next thing?
All right, you guys ready to go? Well that was
quick that ck? Uh so uh what about making uh yeah,
these guys going with you to bring a bull legg
(01:39:38):
you brother, I'll do that. So so anyway, turn yeah
you might wear a turn neck the gay to bring
Alexander Shanaara. Yeah, and so okay, man of.
Speaker 2 (01:39:55):
A thousand voices. Now Northern it's all up here. And
then it's in the Nagles. They talking up in the Nagles.
I got there, took out in the.
Speaker 4 (01:40:00):
Nasals and so anyway, so anyway, so we get in Iris,
we get into the truck bones and Mickey, you know,
get in the back when Mickey decided to go ahead
and fuel while he had the guy there that that
that bled to an awkward hanging out in the parking lot.
Speaker 2 (01:40:18):
So so how long how long y'all been doing this to?
Eight years? Okay, so it's yeah. So look, y'all had
some pretty good, good speakers in the past. Yeah, I
got the kicker for the lines last year.
Speaker 4 (01:40:28):
It's big till that two days okay, so.
Speaker 2 (01:40:32):
I'm well, I'm not a kicker for the following I
following the now possibly super Bowl bound Detroit line kicker.
Speaker 4 (01:40:40):
And guy by the Lions here, okay, okay, mhm, that's how.
Speaker 3 (01:40:46):
It was, and then it was.
Speaker 4 (01:40:51):
I've been I've been excited about this since it has
been on the calendar. Yeah. Yeah, we looked at speakers
on premiere Yeah that we go with you ready so
so so then so then we so then we make
the bright So we make the ride. I'm riding shotgun.
Speaker 2 (01:41:08):
This is one of the few times that I've never
seen people fight for the back seat. I used to
in the past. You know, be like, no, they tell
me to set up front. Now go ahead, you need
to talk to the guy. Get from here. This time,
nobody nobody say anything.
Speaker 5 (01:41:21):
Nobody.
Speaker 2 (01:41:22):
Everybody went to the back, and so I talked to
to Ken.
Speaker 4 (01:41:27):
I carried us, you know, and not not a lot
of but I'm realizing, this is just this, it's just
a different culture.
Speaker 5 (01:41:35):
You know.
Speaker 2 (01:41:35):
He doesn't ask what my mom's doing, you know, and
all this, and and so we get over to the venue,
and I realized that this will now be my experience
with all people I'm meeting, uh in Michigan.
Speaker 4 (01:41:48):
Consistent. I mean, I like you go Anderson, Alabam. Last night.
Speaker 2 (01:41:51):
As soon as I stepped out of the truck, there's
tournament jokes, there's there's.
Speaker 4 (01:41:55):
Come over here.
Speaker 2 (01:41:56):
Hey, we got steakes going, you know all this and
how you do it? Hey, what's hey? What's o speeding there?
Speaker 4 (01:42:01):
What's great? You know all that here.
Speaker 2 (01:42:04):
It's like every single guy I meet, you know, I
want to go over and I'm let me tell you,
it's no nonsense. I mean, I'm accustomed to the Southerners.
I mean, honestly telling Sherry, I have no idea when
I'll be home. Yeah, I mean we may talk for hours.
Speaker 4 (01:42:21):
I started feeling right here, that is, I'll get to
the airport pretty quick.
Speaker 2 (01:42:25):
Yeah, you know that there probably won't be a lot
of hanging around, you know. So I get in there
and go down there at uh the table there in
the front. Okay, then he talked and you didn't you
uh uh you get down there and you talk to uh,
talk to Bobby. Okay, right, Bobby's who's Bobby? Bobby's guy
runs it. We do it since the promise keepers twenty
(01:42:47):
eight years. Okay, that's on that one and and so
uh it was something so sitting down at the table,
meet Bobby.
Speaker 4 (01:42:57):
Hey guy, glad you here. Goodnes sitting here? Uh, how's
the service? How you're going to do?
Speaker 2 (01:43:07):
I got some I got some guys, gotta did some songs,
give away to door prizes and uh they'll get you
right up there.
Speaker 4 (01:43:15):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (01:43:16):
Uh so uh yeah all right, so guys kicking the steaks.
Speaker 3 (01:43:20):
Yeah, they back, they got some steaks in the hoppa.
Speaker 4 (01:43:24):
Hey, hey, come over here.
Speaker 2 (01:43:25):
We need to is a good way tell everybody if
it want to be the first table the you know
they that to raise the most money, help us pay
for this.
Speaker 4 (01:43:31):
Okay me, no, no talking to you.
Speaker 2 (01:43:34):
Uh okay, hey, Ken, come on account and get him
to come over, you know what'd see the thing and
you try to add uh see, donate the most and
then that table goes first.
Speaker 4 (01:43:43):
They get rab byes. So then there was an uncomfortable moment.
I said, yeah, I don't have ribbys for everybody too much.
Everybody gets a strip what uh? And then I wanted
to say, what do I get? You know I get
and this happened. Yeah, and then we'll try to.
Speaker 2 (01:44:03):
Get a reb boy for the speaker. Look at this
set up, okay, And I'm like, okay, great, okay, So
here's here's the awkward part. I guess if you're up north,
you just get in front of everybody. But where we're from,
you know that's not considered good form. So I thought, well,
if I'm rib by guy, when the first table who
donated the most money gets to go first, I should
(01:44:24):
go with them, right And uh so they called the
first table table sex you guys raise the most money,
you get the red bikes.
Speaker 4 (01:44:32):
And I'm looking now for them to is this do
I go? Now? So I'm just sitting there.
Speaker 3 (01:44:37):
Did you raise the most money?
Speaker 4 (01:44:38):
Though? Actually?
Speaker 2 (01:44:40):
But I'm the speaker, so so so I'm looking and
and and I go, well, I'm not getting up.
Speaker 4 (01:44:47):
A Southerner would never go and cut whatever, So I
don't move.
Speaker 3 (01:44:51):
Good, that's a good move.
Speaker 4 (01:44:52):
So then all of a sudden, you I table eleven,
y'all next, And I thought, oh gosh, they're moving to
the strips. Now I'm out. I'm out, and uh and
and uh so I end up like just sitting there
till finally, uh they called our actual table, and I
just went and I didn't. That was fine. It was
just that was kind of like it was a little confused.
I'm sure what to do. Somebody called, and then it
(01:45:13):
didn't happen. So so anyway, and then it happens. And
then it happens.
Speaker 3 (01:45:21):
If you had worn the turtleneck, I bet they would
go ahead.
Speaker 4 (01:45:24):
You wore the turtleneck to the wrong place.
Speaker 2 (01:45:26):
Now these are blue collar guys too. Let me tell
you what I did not notice about the different from
the South. You know, we don't wear jackets a lot.
We don't get to wear them a lot. Jackets are
big there. Oh yeah, I mean they're ready for jackets.
Speaker 5 (01:45:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (01:45:38):
The lobby actually has a place where you come in.
The first thing you do is hang your jacket like that.
But here's what it gave me. This was an interesting
Some of you Michigan people may say, yeah, that's that's us.
They would hang their jacket and then guess what they
would have on short sleeves. One guy had shorts on. Shorts, yeah,
and they're hanging their they have jackets on, but they
hanged the jacket.
Speaker 4 (01:45:57):
Then they're in like T shirts and stuff.
Speaker 8 (01:45:59):
And I was like, so this old guy looks like
he never gets cold, right, yeah, so.
Speaker 2 (01:46:07):
When we come back it did it happen? Ultimate Southerner mistake?
Thank you, Bones.
Speaker 4 (01:46:16):
I knew not to ask this, I knew not to
bring it up. I knew that I knew enough that
this was a no ask from a Southern Apparently Bones
not real savvy with the North, and he commits a
Southern fountain. No, you're right back.
Speaker 1 (01:46:37):
This is the Rick Burgess show, the man who removed
the phrase what's You're no good? From society?
Speaker 4 (01:46:53):
Rick burches, You're welcome, all right.
Speaker 2 (01:46:56):
So some of you on the text option you already
get and your guess is accurate. Boy, I'm trying so
hard to fit in with the Yankees. I'm sorry the
people in Michigan, and I want them to like me. Uh,
we don't have a huge footprint. There had some guys
that drove over from Grand Rapids that was nice, and
(01:47:18):
yeah two hours away, and also somewhere in Indiana and
so so I'm mainly trying to win these guys over
and they're being great host I'm realizing their hospitality just
a little different than ours texture. I also realized that
I'm combining Wisconsin and New Jersey and my accent. It's
not exactly all those Michigan, but I actually think it
(01:47:40):
makes the story funnier. So you're right, Michigan is not
quite there. It's more it's just right here. It's it's
had the right that of the nastrils.
Speaker 3 (01:47:49):
I'm going to Boston accent.
Speaker 4 (01:47:52):
Boston.
Speaker 2 (01:47:54):
We're Southerners. It's kind of like when we hear y'all
do impressions of our accent.
Speaker 4 (01:47:58):
It's not right either, right, but it's funny the way
you do it.
Speaker 2 (01:48:01):
So anyway, and I could you know how you can
sense something coming and you almost want to slow motion
dive in front of the.
Speaker 4 (01:48:09):
Person before they say it. It's all well.
Speaker 2 (01:48:11):
The reason why I'm so well versed in this is
I've grown up with Greg, so I've experienced this many times,
don't say that. So they have pictures of water, they
have coffee, oh yeah, okay, and and they have some
sort of juice of some kind.
Speaker 4 (01:48:29):
Okay, yeah, leave it alone. What they have.
Speaker 2 (01:48:35):
I went with water just in case, Sean, and like
the trainers are listening, and I did. And then it
happened about the time I think I'm finally getting as
warm as I can possibly get with people from the north. Okay,
I'm toning myself down. They're picking themselves up a little bit.
We're trying to find that.
Speaker 4 (01:48:53):
Happy medium, eating in the middle.
Speaker 2 (01:48:56):
And then it happens ken BOMs hearn from my left,
my soon to be new friends, or to my right,
I'm talking with a man named Jeff. He's very he's
being very nice, is as a Northern can be. Hey,
(01:49:17):
y'all got sweet tea?
Speaker 4 (01:49:19):
Could night?
Speaker 2 (01:49:21):
And as soon as I heard it, I said, oh no,
no, no no, and I did. I look right at and
I said, I'm sorry, and he goes, huh what they
just don't even what sweet tea? I'm just don't even
it's it's we're good.
Speaker 4 (01:49:35):
Yeah, you know, it's it's it's it's tea, but it's
sweet bones sugar. What your friends saying that? And he goes,
uh good, he goes, well, I mean we don't even
have tea much less. I guess we could get make
tea and put sugar in it. And I was like, no,
it's it's fine.
Speaker 3 (01:49:54):
You're gonna need a whole hous sugar.
Speaker 2 (01:49:56):
Yeah, I guess we got any sugar to happen, and
and I'm like, please let it go.
Speaker 4 (01:50:01):
Well, I mean, if y'all I said, please let it go.
So now you're blocking him out.
Speaker 2 (01:50:06):
Now an entire discussion breaks out on why Southerners drink
sweet tea. This is not where I wanted to go.
We don't need it, We're okay, we're fine. Okay, are
they intrigued by it? Are they kind of asking questions?
Speaker 4 (01:50:18):
Completely disgusted and repulsed? Boh, So it's the other way.
Speaker 2 (01:50:22):
And I just wanted to look at him say you
want to go ahead and get a biscuit out of
the way before we move on. And so so anyway,
so I finally think I'm spiraling out of control.
Speaker 4 (01:50:35):
I'm not.
Speaker 2 (01:50:35):
I'm not doing well, and you have that little empty
feeling like they're not.
Speaker 4 (01:50:39):
They don't.
Speaker 2 (01:50:39):
I don't think they like me, and I don't think
this is going to go. Well, what can I do now?
Then I thought of it. So finally we're getting closer
and closer. I'm watching the Praise and Worship Band, which
I so wish Greg could have seen, and media in
age seventy two bass player experience, bass player early than
(01:50:59):
be eighties.
Speaker 4 (01:51:08):
This one for you. Listen and they adler this one
for you, not afraid to try harmony. So it's great
shut run. So anyway, they were wonderful.
Speaker 2 (01:51:18):
It was great, and so I realized that, you know,
Bobby is saying, okay, now you're about to be up there.
Speaker 4 (01:51:24):
Okay, thank you Bobby and the encouragement and so uh so,
so anyway, rooms packed. You have you got that piece of
video how packed the room is? I've got Yeah, there's
one that's a moving video I sent you and and
again of course I tried to email it to you
and I couldn't because it was an email.
Speaker 2 (01:51:42):
So that and it's even a very short video, which
really frustrated me. But anyway, so, so I mean they're
jam packed in there, They're they're having to get chairs
because the tables are now full where we all had
stayed chairs yeah, and I'm like, wow, so this is so.
I was look, look look at this. Look at how
many people we're talking about here. I mean, this place
(01:52:04):
is completely there's Mickey by the way, who's the Winter
Expert pilot.
Speaker 4 (01:52:09):
Uh. So, I mean look at this. I mean they
got away. Yeah, I mean it is. And and so
I'm like, how do I win these people over?
Speaker 2 (01:52:20):
I don't have them. I don't have them. This ain't
like Anderson, Alabama. Ain't nobody pulling for me in here.
I got I got two guys from Grand Rapids and
two from Indiana. They're way back there, They're in the
overflow seats. Ain't no help, you know, tell someone say hey, right, okay,
So how many people clap Rick Burge? Yeah, by the way,
and you're wondering too, I want of this is Men's
(01:52:42):
Ministry to a t, No matter how many times I'm
sure it was attempted to send them a bio.
Speaker 4 (01:52:47):
I had to write it in a piece of notebook paper.
I said, let's just keep it simple. Uh and uh
and so so I said, I'm a guy, got a
radio show, and I direct Themanchurch dot Com.
Speaker 2 (01:53:01):
Let's just keep it right there. Yeah, okay, So who cares,
I mean the rest of it. And I'm thinking, how
do I win these people over? How So I get
up there and they're all looking at me like, you know,
who's this yahoo? And then it happened. The Lord is
always helping, you know, the Holy Expiritors are helping. I
(01:53:21):
looked out and I said, before we go any further,
I'm here from sweet Home, Alabama, and I know that
we don't have a whole lot in common, but I
tell you what we do have in common.
Speaker 4 (01:53:30):
I hate Ohio State too.
Speaker 2 (01:53:33):
And the place went crazy.
Speaker 4 (01:53:38):
God, I said, I can't stand them.
Speaker 2 (01:53:41):
And then and just when I think that it can't
get any better, foolishly three guys shout out that they're
Ohio State fans.
Speaker 3 (01:53:49):
Oh no, I said, what are you?
Speaker 4 (01:53:50):
Three Ohio State fans. The whole crowds with me. Now
we hate them too, God from Alabama and and so
and so all. Just when you think I can't do
any better with him, I said, you know what, tonight,
we're praying y'all get saved. I mean, at one point
I think they tried to lift me on their shoulders.
Oh Alabama, God, Alabama. And I was like, I'm in now,
(01:54:13):
so after that, it was a It was a cakewalk, fantastic.
I had one guy almost hug me, just almost. It
was very close.
Speaker 2 (01:54:21):
Yeah, and so so really and as we expect that
look on a very serious note, these guys really work
hard at this and do a great job.
Speaker 4 (01:54:30):
We saw over fifty something guys make a decision for Christ.
Speaker 18 (01:54:33):
Wow.
Speaker 10 (01:54:33):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (01:54:34):
So they did great job. I loved working with him.
I'd love to get another opportunity to go back. But
it was funny at the very end, I'm talking about
overfeitch something guys. We saw the Holy Spirit movie. It
was just so funny about the culture. I kid y'all night.
Speaker 4 (01:54:45):
I go back over the table ready for this big
celebration with Ken Alight you ready to go?
Speaker 2 (01:54:53):
You gott I've never been back to their place so fast.
Speaker 4 (01:55:00):
And but then but then, you know, we prayed, prayed
together before we got on the plane, and you know,
it's just it's different.
Speaker 5 (01:55:05):
Man.
Speaker 4 (01:55:05):
That's what makes our country a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (01:55:08):
So thank you to the men of the Branch County,
men of Integrity for inviting me.
Speaker 4 (01:55:15):
It was a blast, that a great time.
Speaker 2 (01:55:16):
Did you a uh No, I didn't know it, George Strip,
But then they did give me a piece of chicken too,
and that helped also thanks to faster heat and all
of you and Anderson Alabama last night too.
Speaker 4 (01:55:29):
What a great weekend. No, we had a blast. Thank
you all so much.
Speaker 1 (01:55:36):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, Big Bucks that are

Speaker 4 (01:56:03):
Thank you, Ken Osborn. Here we go.
Speaker 2 (01:56:04):
It is a brand new hour and we're glad you're here.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. So we are starting
this hour and got a lot to cover. We're gonna
chat with you this hour too. Our number is eight
eight eight six big Vox. You can also text, and
a lot of you are texting on that number. Our
website Rick burgesshow dot com. It was so cool last
(01:56:27):
night to see somebody walk up won of the brand
new T shirts. A lot of you are getting that
new swag and we're going to continue to add to
that do some new stuff as it continues. So all right,
we've got a number of things to continue to discuss
as we start the hour. Funny text, Rick, how any world?
Am I now ever going to book you to come
speak in Ohio after what you said about the bucks.
Speaker 4 (01:56:48):
Well, Greg had it right.
Speaker 2 (01:56:49):
When I get there, I'll just say I don't like
the wolverine, yeaheah, Yeah, we can go come on, so
we can make that happen.
Speaker 4 (01:56:56):
But anyway, a lot of fun.
Speaker 2 (01:56:57):
So let's talk a little bit because with Trump being
sworn in one week from today, Lord Willing and we've
talked about that earlier, about some of the safety concerns
and things like that. So Trump, you know, he's real
serious about you know, he's not playing any games. He
(01:57:17):
governed that way when we had him as president before.
It's one of the things I like about him. So
it kind of reminds me of, you know how the
rest of the world. What's their response to this? And
we have a story today that negotiations between Israeli officials
and Hamas have reportedly reached a breakthrough and there may
(01:57:41):
be a prisoner exchange and a little bit of a
maybe fragile ceasefire, but some sort of ceasefire. Thirty three
Israeli hostages, hostages people are talking about might be released.
Adams got a couple of clips. Want to start with
which one you want to do? Trump nts first?
Speaker 8 (01:58:00):
Yeah, here's Trump. Trump was asked about the hostage situation.
This was on the seventh uh and then in the
next clip, JD. Vance was asked to explain what Trump
meant by that. So first we got the Trump clip
and then we've got the JD. Vance explanation.
Speaker 19 (01:58:16):
If those hostages aren't back, I don't want to hurt
your negotiation. If they're not back by the time I
get into office, all hell will break out in the
Middle East, and it will not be good for Hamas,
and it will not be good, frankly, for anyone. All
hell will break out. I don't have to say anymore,
but that's what it is.
Speaker 2 (01:58:34):
That's what well, yeah, yeah, that's It's kind of like
when they were asking about Greenland. Can you just reassure
everybody that they we would be no taking Greenland? He goes, No,
I cannot.
Speaker 4 (01:58:45):
I don't reassure anybody that.
Speaker 2 (01:58:47):
Yeah, make them, make them, make them be concerned. Yeah.
Uh So now Vance is coming in to kind of
drive this home.
Speaker 3 (01:58:55):
He was asked to explain it on Fox New Sunday.
Speaker 4 (01:58:56):
Okay, job over there.
Speaker 17 (01:58:58):
And I think the president, if you talk to war leaders,
it's very clear that President Trump threatening Hamas and making
it clear that there is going to be hell to
pay as part of the reason why we've made progress
on getting some hostages out. We're hopeful there's going to
be a deal that's struck towards the very end of
Biden's administration, maybe the last day or two. But regardless
(01:59:18):
of when that deal is struck, it will be because
people are terrified that there are going to be consequences
for Hamas.
Speaker 5 (01:59:24):
Now what does that look like?
Speaker 17 (01:59:25):
I think Number one, it means enabling the Israelis to
knock out the final couple of battalions of Hamas and
their leadership. It means very aggressive sanctions and financial penalties
on those who are supporting terrorist organizations in the Middle East.
It means actually doing the job of American leadership, which
Donald Trump did very well.
Speaker 2 (01:59:43):
For absolutely, and this is one of the things and
we gosh, you have to understand, and it seems the
Trump administration seems to understand it to a higher level
than a lot of administrations. The only thing terrorists understand
is for there to be consequences for their actions. They
(02:00:06):
they when you start peace negotiations with the Hamases of
the world, has Bellah and the hoodies and all of this.
If you start all this, let's see if we can
make them be our friends. They don't see that as
anything to be applauded. They see this weakness and they'll
manipulate that. All they understand is we will break your
(02:00:28):
will to continue to do this. They understand nothing else.
And you have to understand too, this desperation of their religion.
You know, we'll go back to the guy in New Orleans.
And I've heard people incorrectly say this before. Well, you
know they really have a commitment, you know, to their religion,
these these martyrs and suicide bombers.
Speaker 4 (02:00:49):
And no they don't. That's completely wrong.
Speaker 2 (02:00:53):
What you have to understand is what like we saw
with the guy in New Orleans, that horror there. What
we find out he's Muslim, but he's been married twice,
he's having trouble again. His life is not in order. Well,
if you're Muslim, then you think that you have to
do more good things than you do bad things. And conveniently,
(02:01:14):
inside this religion they have added, well, if you want
to be sure, if you want to be sure, that
the scale tips in your direction and you'll be in paradise.
Will then become a martyr for Allah. If you do that,
then it's instant heaven. You can automatically set the scales right.
So you have to understand, it's not an act of devotion,
(02:01:35):
it's an act of desperation. So if you can get
people to be that desperate, then this sitting around saying
I hope they'll like us and it'll be okay, it
just doesn't work. And so what you have to do
is break their will to continue. And Trump rightfully, so
with Vance echoing, it says, we want Hamas and all
(02:01:57):
those that are like them to know that if if
you attack us or attack Israel, there's gonna be payment
for that. What will break your will to continue it?
And uh so that I'm glad to hear that kind
of clarity.
Speaker 7 (02:02:10):
Yeah, since election day, does it not seem like Trump
is more president than Biden? And he hadn't even taken office,
not even close. Yeh, not even I forget Biden is
still president.
Speaker 4 (02:02:19):
Yeah, well so is you. We were racing for that
when we were Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:02:25):
He uh, he doesn't know either, but uh yeah, President
President Trump is doing the right thing. I know we
don't have the inauguration till Monday, but to the world.
He's already the president. Yeah, oh yeah, so you got
to go ahead and tell the world this is who
I am and this is what they do.
Speaker 4 (02:02:42):
Yeah, and what what we do.
Speaker 7 (02:02:43):
And they and they know to your point, being held
accountable is coming back absolutely.
Speaker 3 (02:02:48):
Uh did y'all see that Trump?
Speaker 8 (02:02:49):
Okay, you remember we were talking about how at Jimmy
Carter's funeral, Obama and Trump were sitting next to each
other looking pretty chummy.
Speaker 4 (02:02:56):
Yep.
Speaker 9 (02:02:56):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (02:02:57):
Trump posted a video with fake audio of their interaction.
This is good, and so we were all wondering what
they were saying. And Trump is posting this video of
the fake audio, so maybe this is close to.
Speaker 3 (02:03:10):
What they were saying.
Speaker 4 (02:03:11):
Okay, well, mister president for.
Speaker 3 (02:03:14):
A second time, brought very nice to see you.
Speaker 4 (02:03:20):
Congratulations.
Speaker 3 (02:03:21):
So how you do it a lot better than I bet?
Speaker 18 (02:03:24):
I know?
Speaker 3 (02:03:25):
When totally?
Speaker 4 (02:03:27):
Oh come on, anyone could beat her.
Speaker 11 (02:03:31):
I was just as a Paul.
Speaker 4 (02:03:33):
Do you know what happened? He just didn't want to
leave what happened.
Speaker 3 (02:03:39):
I didn't what I could to help her.
Speaker 18 (02:03:40):
She was for.
Speaker 4 (02:03:46):
She was horrendous. Yeah, she was arondos. Yeah and yeah
that's uh, that's great.
Speaker 2 (02:03:52):
Well, and you're and people in the text are asking
and maybe we'll get that before we're done today that
Joe Rogan interviewed Zuckerberg and he's all but admitted that
Biden told him to censor things or the Biden administration. Yes,
I don't mean Joe Biden himself, but the Biden administration,
because I don't.
Speaker 4 (02:04:10):
Think Joe Biden would be able to warn anyone about anything.
Speaker 2 (02:04:13):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (02:04:13):
He kept talking about, well, we were getting pressure to,
you know, take down things that were actually even true.
Speaker 4 (02:04:19):
Is that how he talks?
Speaker 8 (02:04:19):
That's how and Rogan would have to ask him to clarify. Wait, wait, wait,
who was you were being pressured to? You were being
asked to take it down by who? And he said, well,
the government, the Biden administration was contacting us directly, even
getting us to take down things that were true.
Speaker 3 (02:04:37):
Wow, that's just straight up so it's not good.
Speaker 4 (02:04:41):
Remember you weren't allowed to say that.
Speaker 2 (02:04:42):
Of course, now everybody who was being told to censure
things is admitting yeah we were.
Speaker 11 (02:04:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (02:04:48):
Zuckerberg said that they're going to be maybe trying to
copy the x Twitter model of having community notes, where
the actual social network itself polices itself, rather than having
like dependent facts checkers that I'm doing air quotes when
I say fact checkers.
Speaker 4 (02:05:04):
Let's go phone calls next. You got the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 1 (02:05:08):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. Get on the show,
no by calling one eight eight eight six, Big Fox.

Not this again.
Speaker 4 (02:06:09):

Speaker 3 (02:06:11):
Oh yeah, yeah yeah, oh yeah, I'll do it. I'll
do it.
Speaker 2 (02:06:16):
We're having to reset the mouse now. This is the comedian.
His his best line so far was because he served
our country. He is a veteran.
Speaker 4 (02:06:25):
We thank him for that.
Speaker 2 (02:06:26):
He's disabled and he said, which we thought was his
best line stand up comedy I can't even stand up

Speaker 4 (02:06:35):
Yeah, yeah that did, thank you, buddy. No, no, no
it didn't. No, here we go. No it's not it's

Speaker 2 (02:06:44):
Uh so yeah, the uh earlier today it seemed to work. Okay,
all right, let's let's try this thing here. I don't
know if it needs to be replaced or so. Is
there there is a touch screen option to correct? Can
I touch those and answer them?
Speaker 4 (02:07:04):
We're good? Thank you, buddy, I'm good, Thank you, buddy.
Speaker 2 (02:07:06):
So so, but we're calling him comedian Jeffy, even though
his name is Jesse, right, or is it Jesse?
Speaker 4 (02:07:13):
Yeah? It is Jesse right, Jesse's issue.
Speaker 13 (02:07:18):
My name is Jeffy.
Speaker 4 (02:07:20):
You're not the real deal, are you?
Speaker 11 (02:07:26):
Yes?
Speaker 13 (02:07:26):
That was my impression of chanting Tatum from twenty twenty
one Drop Street.
Speaker 4 (02:07:30):
Oh my goodness, believe me. It is wow wow wow wow.
Try again one more time. Yeah, let's let's hear it
one more time.
Speaker 3 (02:07:37):

Speaker 2 (02:07:41):
Are you are you planning on working I seen that
movie and I don't remember I haven't seen the movie.
Speaker 4 (02:07:46):
Have you do you plan on working that into the routine?
Speaker 13 (02:07:52):
No, you dubbed me Jeffy the comedian. So I just
saw it. I just thought it'd be funny.
Speaker 3 (02:07:57):
We're not familiar with the movie.
Speaker 2 (02:07:59):
Now, probably you want to stick with iconic movies. Probably,
uh but anyway, so do you have some new material
you run by us today?
Speaker 13 (02:08:08):
Jeffy, Yes, I wanted to uh continue on the uh.
I can't stand.
Speaker 2 (02:08:14):
Up parts good place to be. All right, let's hear
some more.
Speaker 4 (02:08:20):
All right.
Speaker 13 (02:08:21):
So after I told him that I can't couldn't stand up,
he replied with, and I hope you are a really
good comedian.
Speaker 4 (02:08:28):
Oh boy, my goodness. Okay, all right, go ahead, it's.
Speaker 13 (02:08:38):
Not mad actually Okay told me later on, and he
was sincerely trying to wish me the best of luck.
But he said, break a leg.
Speaker 11 (02:08:49):
This.
Speaker 4 (02:08:50):
We're there now, we're in the wheelhouse now, Jeffy, he's
got the jokes you.
Speaker 13 (02:08:56):
Greg my Son said I should be something for joy. Yeah,
I chancel that delivery.
Speaker 3 (02:09:08):
Joe wasn't good with that delivery was great.
Speaker 4 (02:09:09):
Now your delivery is now overcoming bad material. Yeah.
Speaker 13 (02:09:14):
I'm also I'm not allowed to play musical chairs unless
I'm the DJ.
Speaker 4 (02:09:22):
I like that one? Okay, which one you like that one?
Speaker 18 (02:09:25):
Did?
Speaker 4 (02:09:26):
Okay?
Speaker 13 (02:09:26):
I thought, well, I do play the fastest and the
slowest game of tag you've ever seen.
Speaker 8 (02:09:34):
All Right, each time I'm thinking, I'm like, all right,
I'm done with these he is.
Speaker 2 (02:09:38):
Okay, I want you to know right now, just me
first personally, I'm nowhere near done.
Speaker 4 (02:09:43):
Okay, to go ahead, Okay, last one.
Speaker 11 (02:09:49):
I'm single.
Speaker 13 (02:09:51):
But women don't have to play hard to get with me.
Speaker 3 (02:09:57):
Maybe it's easy for Okay, I don't know. I'm all right,
I can't do no.
Speaker 4 (02:10:02):
Jeffy.
Speaker 2 (02:10:03):
Let me tell you where how far you've come in
and in just a few days.
Speaker 4 (02:10:07):
Yeah, you're on. You're on a roll. I mean, if
you had nothing for your own roll?
Speaker 18 (02:10:15):
Come on?
Speaker 2 (02:10:17):
So uh use that, Jeffy, you use that if everybody
starts laughing and said, well I want to roll now, yes,
I know there were that many handicapped jokes.
Speaker 18 (02:10:26):
Now.
Speaker 13 (02:10:29):
I heard that I should give the eulogy instead of
Joe Biden, and I wrote a short eulogy out when
I heard that.
Speaker 4 (02:10:36):
Oh please, are you sure about this? Do we feel
good about this? Go ahead?
Speaker 5 (02:10:42):
All right.
Speaker 13 (02:10:43):
I don't know the guy's name that passed away, and
I don't.
Speaker 5 (02:10:47):
Know how he died.
Speaker 13 (02:10:49):
Okay, so this is what I just thought off off
off the top of.
Speaker 4 (02:10:52):
My hid for Jimmy Cark.
Speaker 13 (02:10:54):
We are gathered here to remember our dear friend. He
was larger than life, but the mack truck was bigger.
If only he had been listening. Did Jesus take the wheel?
This tragedy may have been averted. Oh, for God's sake,
can somebody pick up Grandpa Joe in the back he's
phoned over again. Yeah, set him up and pull the
(02:11:17):
string so he can wave.
Speaker 4 (02:11:19):
Back to cripple jokes? Look this, Yeah, now realized you
were you were you? You were rolling, jeff I mean Jeffrey,
you were rolling? Yeah, uh you you You had us
but that, but then you left. You got to get
(02:11:39):
back to where you were. Yeah, Jimmy was a hundred Yeah. Yeah,
that's okay, that's what got him.
Speaker 8 (02:11:45):
You old age jokes, not like a mack truck joke.
Speaker 4 (02:11:48):
I didn't get it.
Speaker 2 (02:11:49):
Yeah, Okay, let's stay. Let's stand away from doing the eulogy.
Speaker 4 (02:11:53):
Let's stay. I'm a guy who's disabled and I've got
a sense of humor about it.
Speaker 2 (02:11:56):
Stay right there, Okay, good, Yeah, I think it's a
if we leave the eulogy out, big win for huge.
Speaker 4 (02:12:05):
W Yeah, yeah, his delivery was a lot better today. Yes, Uh,
let's go to Not sure about the eulogy. Eulogy was
we could have that back? Uh. He just wanted to
(02:12:26):
say that one would use that live.
Speaker 15 (02:12:33):
It doesn't work unless he was Actually, you don't know
all about it, oh, Greg, Greg text to work in
a turtlenet joker, Jamison indicatur one hundred point three in
(02:12:57):

Speaker 13 (02:13:01):

gonna be watching the new show on CLC tonight.
Speaker 4 (02:13:07):
What's that?
Speaker 18 (02:13:08):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (02:13:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (02:13:09):
Uh bailing out loud.
Speaker 13 (02:13:11):
She has torette.
Speaker 3 (02:13:15):

Speaker 5 (02:13:17):
I emailed Adler part of it.
Speaker 13 (02:13:20):

Speaker 4 (02:13:23):
I'm gonna give it, give it, of course he is.
I'm gonna give it a chance, of course he is. Jamison.
If I could get that to come on right after
one thousand pounds sisters, oh what a day it would be.
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 3 (02:13:35):
Uh Keith, Oh, she cusses in her tourettes.
Speaker 4 (02:13:38):
Oh you got you had Greg a Hello?
Speaker 3 (02:13:41):
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (02:13:41):
I sure said something else, but I'll never forget the
first time. Go ahead, I don't get it, No, go ahead,
because we're going to the break now. The first time
I ever saw anything on Tourette's it was like on
sixty minutes and the person was that way. They were
yelling profanities and everything, and I was watching it with dad,
and Dad said they were faking that. They just wanted
to be a jerk. They just want to cuss people,
and they're faking it. They claimed they were all faking.
(02:14:04):
You know, I'm not buying to that a little bit.
He said. They just want to know one man textures.
I'm loving they said. You know, Jeffrey before he went
to the eutlogy, he was really in his wheelhouse. That's good.

Yeah, so you had a little bit of protection from
Jeffy's latest stand up. He did lose his way there
at the end. But did you okay through that? Yeah?
Speaker 18 (02:16:57):
I was.
Speaker 7 (02:16:57):
I was on a phone call when he decided to
do the the eulogy. I think he said what he said,
and I only heard bits and pieces of it, but
from your reaction, I was embarrassed. Just from your reaction,
I couldn't really hear what he was saying.
Speaker 4 (02:17:12):
Jeffy, you could tell he was building confidence, and you
know sometimes when that confidence hit you, you think, well,
now I'm going to try all kinds of things.
Speaker 2 (02:17:22):
Yeah, and he needs to run with that first part. Yeah,
I think that he was toting you get it run. Yeah,
I think he was toting the eulogy and he had
it put up, and then his joke started going so
much better because he's found his wheelhouse and and so
he I think he thought I'm doing so well now
(02:17:44):
I can even I think the eulogy will even be funny.
Speaker 4 (02:17:46):
Now he was wrong about that now, and that's one
of those things you just have to learn.
Speaker 7 (02:17:51):
Well, it was so bad, it was funny from y'all's
reaction in what you've been telling me to break. But
now if his routine was I'm going to stay with
you know where he was it was funny, and then
every now and then I'm going to try something else
and it's never good enough.
Speaker 4 (02:18:04):
So he goes back to that. Yeah, now that might
be funny if he.
Speaker 2 (02:18:09):
Give me, let me get more crippled jokes, And I'm
sure we should call them that. You've even got me
called them that now. So but one of the things
I have to be careful. You hang out with, what
do you call But I would say maybe disabled.
Speaker 4 (02:18:27):
Physically basically challenged. There's who am I Kidding's a way
of saying, who my kidding?
Speaker 3 (02:18:33):
Andy? Capable? Jokes? Andy capable?
Speaker 20 (02:18:36):
No, but but he he he was he should And
by the way, just so y'all know, and Jeffy, I
want you to know this too, because we do we
love you, and we thank you for your service.
Speaker 2 (02:18:48):
The textures are calling it right. He needs to learn
the term a costanza. Uh, leave on a high note.
And I want you to know this, Jeffrey, because I
love you. That's it for the week. Yeah, so we
want to you want this to be a slow burn.
We don't want so much, Jeffy that now. And you know,
I have a very short fuse on burnout. And well,
(02:19:10):
some people say that. I'm not sure that's really true,
but but people say that.
Speaker 4 (02:19:14):
But so there's only so many handicapped jokes, right, every day,
he'd run out.
Speaker 8 (02:19:20):
And if you do too many, then people are be like, okay,
now you're piling on yeah, right, like wheeling up the rim.
Speaker 2 (02:19:26):
So you had a good moment. You have improved every time.
I do disagree with the texture that says that's enough, Jeffy, I'm.
Speaker 4 (02:19:34):
Not there yet.
Speaker 2 (02:19:35):
No, I'm not there yet. But it's enough for the week. Sure, Okay,
I'd like I'd like for us to try once a week.
Then we may go to once every other week. Yeah,
you know, and so so they and the eulogy. You know,
I think we're helping him by saying that's out. Yeah, Okay,
you can.
Speaker 4 (02:19:52):
Just insert someone who passed away, this a celebrity and
the joke fit. If it's got all right in your
car because he was a hundred, he's he's just hit.
He's just learning.
Speaker 3 (02:20:03):
It has to be true to the real life.
Speaker 4 (02:20:05):
Just learning.
Speaker 3 (02:20:06):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:20:06):
People on the text, I'm asking also asking, wow, that's funny.
Somebody said maybe a comedic duo Greg and Jeffy bow
legs and no legs.
Speaker 4 (02:20:21):
That's a dandy right there.
Speaker 7 (02:20:24):
You know where we're headed, and I want you to
It's kind of like I've never smoked, but all the
smoking jokes.
Speaker 4 (02:20:29):
You're not bow legged, but the bow legged jokes are
stay with you now, you know.
Speaker 2 (02:20:35):
So Also someone said, when is the last uh you know,
run me see and shut her down?
Speaker 4 (02:20:44):
Somebody runs shut.
Speaker 2 (02:20:47):
When will that be on streaming? I told you that
there was a fumble on that, but I was told
that they've now expedited it. And when I was told that,
I think it was last Thursday. And then I was
told it will be on streaming a week from that day.
So I think this Thursday it should be on streaming
around the world. And now, thank you buddy.
Speaker 4 (02:21:09):
Uh, let's see, this is Okay, wesh, I was back
in Michigan, so let's let's be out later this week. Yeah,
that's that's the reason why I should probably you should
probably write that down, not work it out in front
of the millions. You were trying to play out and
(02:21:38):
you were talking at one point. I wasn't even here.
Speaker 16 (02:21:41):
I was.
Speaker 11 (02:21:41):
I was.
Speaker 4 (02:21:42):
I was back on the highways looking out Thursday. You know,
we had winter on Friday. If I forgot about that
for a minute, I thought I was speedy telling the story. So, uh,
they injured injured. Wow, that was actually really rude, but
it was actually hurtful. So all that's funny. Uh, let's
(02:22:10):
go to We covered that sit here and we covered
that at the summit. Let's go to camp left, look right,
look right, left, left, can't go ahead?
Speaker 5 (02:22:26):
Hey, Rick, loved the new show and you wanted to
call in.
Speaker 18 (02:22:30):
I think somebody last week mentioned the TV show that
Greg's gonna love. My wife stumbled on it this weekend.
It's Kings of two below Southern crime story.
Speaker 5 (02:22:39):
Greg.
Speaker 18 (02:22:40):
You got to watch this thing?
Speaker 4 (02:22:42):
Yeah, who carries it? Can't?
Speaker 5 (02:22:44):
It's on It's on Netflix. Find it on Netflix.
Speaker 4 (02:22:47):
I got the big thing left the last week about
forgot I remember. Now, that's just pretty simple. If you
want me to, I'll tell you how you get it? Rick,
what day this? They said, no, so can't so it
is Netflix? And when does it start?
Speaker 5 (02:23:03):
It's It's Netflix.
Speaker 18 (02:23:04):
You can get it anytime. It's three episodes in Greg,
this thing is small town rural America Elvis impersonators, conspiracy theories.
It's got a little touch of Vicky Quest craziness in it.
It's got a little bit of your red neck Jessica White.
It's just it's a little redneck in there. And it
ends in a national story of attempted presidential assassination that
(02:23:25):
you guys will remember when you hear about it and
who done it? Twist with a feud with a karate instructor.
Speaker 5 (02:23:31):
I'm telling you you will love. That's how crazy it
is you in there.
Speaker 18 (02:23:39):
Hey, listen to this, Greg. It's brother Elvis impersonators. It's
not just one.
Speaker 5 (02:23:45):
It's a set of brothers called Double Trouble that they.
Speaker 4 (02:23:48):
Performed, Okay, I mean got in to.
Speaker 18 (02:23:52):
Get us Book of World Records as the only brother
Elvis impersonator act.
Speaker 5 (02:23:56):
My friend, I'm telling you you're gonna love this.
Speaker 2 (02:24:00):
Fired up, this is almost like Greg goes to heaven. Oh,
I'll be all over this, Uh, Craig and Alex City
Craig go ahead.
Speaker 4 (02:24:09):
Of course, is it real? That's true, Craig. You know
what what happened right there?
Speaker 2 (02:24:16):
Craig had a turtleneck joke, and I think the comedian
Jeffy intimidated.
Speaker 4 (02:24:22):
Yeah, after we heard Jeffy's I don't know follow let
me do this. Uh, well, you made Greg's day, beggar. Oh, yes,
I missed that far. You missed this. Yeah, to be
glad you missed that.
Speaker 3 (02:24:34):
My goodness.
Speaker 2 (02:24:36):
All right, fifteen minutes to the top. More to cover
on another show today. Stay with us our website Rick
burgesshow dot com.
Speaker 1 (02:24:49):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, the man who taught
the world to say couldn't care less? Wick Burchs.
Speaker 2 (02:25:15):
Ten minutes now to the time. Thanks for being with us. Okay,
So as so we work our way back. People are
still throwing out material for Jeffy. But anyway, all right,
so we'll check in with that again coming up a
(02:25:39):
little bit later on. So all right, so we have
a lot to cover on the program today, kind of
getting back to headlines and things like that. I do
want to ask you guys something on Monday night. The
college now national Championship kind of a tough question. I
(02:25:59):
don't are you able to watch a game and it
under in no way, how shape or form, go through
the game and honestly not be pulling or have a
preference for either team.
Speaker 4 (02:26:11):
Can you get through it?
Speaker 2 (02:26:12):
Don't you find yourself almost needing to find somebody. It's
a I don't know why I want this team. You
may I don't even know why, but you just start
going I gotta pull for somebody. I can't enjoy it
as much or can we enjoy it not pulling for anyone.
I do find myself tough as I'm.
Speaker 7 (02:26:31):
I do find myself kind of some I don't announce it,
but I can tell. I'm like, oh, yeah, they score,
you know.
Speaker 4 (02:26:36):
I can tell. I'm kind of starting to lean a
certain way it happens. I'm just I'm not very interested
in this matchup. I'm just not Thank you. I had to.
I like the playoffs and all that, but it was
long and it feels long. Oh well, wait a minute now,
because there never been a lot of the games weren't great, So.
Speaker 3 (02:26:54):
You're saying eight instead of twelve.
Speaker 4 (02:26:56):
No, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (02:26:57):
Maybe if the games will have been better, and I
know you can't contrade. It hurts great to say that
he didn't like to playoff. I'm okay with saying we
didn't have great matchups. I wasn't ready for you to
Now what do you want to just sit around do
nothing like we've been doing anything. And I don't know
we sit around for forty.
Speaker 7 (02:27:13):
Days before we play another game that will go I'll
tell you these semi final games have been good come down, yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:27:20):
But I've already so almost done with it that it
didn't have affect. I wish you liked football, speaking of
I'm going with soccer.
Speaker 8 (02:27:28):
I had I have a hard time watching these games
just because life, you know, life is coming at you.
I'm in fact, I tried to watch the Packers Eagles
game this weekend and uh, you know, NFL playoffs.
Speaker 4 (02:27:40):
I watch it all.
Speaker 3 (02:27:41):
I'm just I'm just about that life, you know.
Speaker 4 (02:27:44):
I'm more excited about it than I am the college.
Speaker 8 (02:27:46):
And so I'm putting the kids to bed and I'm
you know, reading books and changing diapers and giving hugs
and singing songs. But I'm also peeking around the corner
to see the score of this Packers Eagles game. This
goes on like an hour and a half. Then after
then the kids are in bed. Then I got to
clean up the kitchen, you guys know how it is,
and Aaron's helping me do this. Also, it's not just me,
(02:28:07):
but I'm just telling it from my perspective.
Speaker 3 (02:28:10):
And I'm now playing in the kitchen.
Speaker 8 (02:28:11):
I'm doing dishes, but I'm also looking around the corner
checking the score on the game. This goes on for
another thirty minutes, so I'm now two hours watching this
Packers Eagles game. I finally sit down on the couch
and Aaron and I are talking.
Speaker 3 (02:28:26):
Now we're done. We're just talking about our day.
Speaker 8 (02:28:28):
So I've got the game on, but I've got the
volume down and it's coming down to the wire.
Speaker 3 (02:28:33):
There's two minutes left in this game.
Speaker 8 (02:28:35):
And then I'm talking to Aaron and then I look
up and realize, like the game's not playing anymore, Like
what's going on? Like they're cutting to now they're talking
about the Ravens game, and so then I go to
my phone. I'm like, okay, let me.
Speaker 3 (02:28:49):
See Packers score, like what happened? Like who won?
Speaker 8 (02:28:53):
And it's talking about everything I can see on social
media is talking about the Packers Eagles game that's happening
on Sunday. I watched two hours of a replay game
on the NFL network.
Speaker 3 (02:29:08):
On Saturday night.
Speaker 8 (02:29:11):
For two hours, I'm like rushing around trying to check
in see what's going on, trying to catch some football action.
Speaker 3 (02:29:17):
Oh my goodness, And it wasn't he in the game.
Speaker 8 (02:29:20):
Happened that I thought I was in a black hole
time war for about five minutes.
Speaker 3 (02:29:24):
The game is tomorrow? Was I just watched the game?
Speaker 8 (02:29:27):
No, the game's not tomorrow, And I'm stupid and I'm
an idiot. And my wife found out about it, and
she thinks, now I don't know anything about football.
Speaker 4 (02:29:39):
We all know, y'all.
Speaker 3 (02:29:41):
I watched two hours of a non important game of
the old game from this season.
Speaker 7 (02:29:47):
Well, I was wondering when you said about being put
in to Badah, I'm like they played yesterday afternoon.
Speaker 4 (02:29:53):
He was watching the whole game. Turn a good game.
Speaker 3 (02:29:59):
I didn't know. Uh the Eagles. Eagles won by the way,
twenty two to ten.
Speaker 2 (02:30:03):
Well they won him both right, because my first thought too,
was talking about going down to the wire and I'm like.
Speaker 8 (02:30:07):
No, down the wire ya And my wife found out
about it, and so she's like, okay, so you know
about football, you're tough, but rare rare is the couple
where the man is faking football.
Speaker 3 (02:30:19):
My goodness, terrible.
Speaker 4 (02:30:21):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (02:30:21):
I couldn't believe I did that. So watch out everybody.
If it's on the NFL network. That's an old one.
Speaker 4 (02:30:26):
Yeah. Okay, So I didn't have recorded or they no.
Speaker 3 (02:30:29):
It did it said it on the screen.
Speaker 4 (02:30:31):
You just ignored it.
Speaker 3 (02:30:32):
Said it with letters on the screen.
Speaker 4 (02:30:33):
But you were distracted white letters. You were distracted.
Speaker 3 (02:30:36):
I was half watching it.
Speaker 4 (02:30:37):
It was half wore and I'm stupid. So Greg's going
nakedive on the whole playoff, all right? So it are
you not to say that guy that didn't like anything.
Speaker 2 (02:30:47):
No, it's not that, it's just I don't know it
just it's just I was okay with we didn't have
good matchups. We've discussed this this, let's received them, let's
watch out on some certain things. I wasn't prepared for
you to say you didn't like how long it spend?
Speaker 4 (02:31:00):
That bothered? It just felt long because the games weren't good.
Will you say that? Please? Like if it'd all be
good games. Would you been okay? Because now there's no
way in my life that I can watch all those games. No,
But it just felt like to me, No, it just
felt like to me the old way we just had time.
We weren't doing anything. No, I hated that.
Speaker 2 (02:31:20):
Yeah, at least we're filling it now with games, right,
and games it means something Now. They weren't great matchups,
and some of them. I acknowledge that early on it
was rough. It was rough, and that's a seeding problem,
don't you think, you think, Yeah, yeah, may have to
make some justs there, So are we since we don't
have you tied to either one of these teams.
Speaker 4 (02:31:40):
We didn't grow up this being either one of our teams.
Speaker 2 (02:31:43):
I think what I'm hearing Speedy saying, and I think
I'm in the same boat is I'm going to have
to let the game happen, and then I'll find myself
attaching myself not a lot, but more than another team
and starting to kind of desire one of them to
win versus the other. But I don't think I can
declare it before the game. Yeah, right, I get that,
I feel myself thinking, and I know for all of
(02:32:04):
you out there, this is your teams.
Speaker 4 (02:32:05):
That's we're not talking about that.
Speaker 2 (02:32:08):
I think because I really do have a disdain for
Ohio State for some reason, always have. I think I'm
probably gonna lean Notre Dame as far as who I'm
going to be for now. I know for some of
you what I just said has ruined your day, But
I mean, I will try not to carry the way.
But I think I like the coach at Notre Dame.
Speaker 16 (02:32:28):
You know.
Speaker 2 (02:32:29):
To me, the coach at Notre Dame, I like him
a lot. And we've talked about this Ohio State. I
know a lot of Bucks fans are out there. Thank
you for supporting the show, and I wish you well.
Your coach looks like the devil. Your coach looks like
he's the villain and the Superhero movie. I mean, something's
got to be done about this, you say from Krypton.
Speaker 3 (02:32:50):
What's going on?
Speaker 4 (02:32:51):
I'm not in a good place.
Speaker 7 (02:32:52):
I was hoping Penn State would win and Texas would
oh my goodness, and they both lost.
Speaker 4 (02:32:56):
So now I'm in a mess. You miss day spreading
down the sidelines during big plays and him running looking
the way it does. You told me when I was asleep.
Did it look like he was after somebody? Was it
scared up? Yeah?
Speaker 16 (02:33:08):
No he was.
Speaker 4 (02:33:09):
It was all joyful, right, but he was really running. Well.
Speaker 2 (02:33:12):
I will say this, even though he doesn't like mean
the merciless, I will say this, that has been unfair.
Speaker 4 (02:33:18):
People saying he's on the hot set's stupid. Yeah, because
he can't wait. He's lost the rivalry game. Yeah, and
losing this year was bad because Michigan had did not
have a great year, but there one went away for it.
Not mattering, you know, Oh yeah, nobody will care. No, no, no,
and he shouldn't.
Speaker 2 (02:33:31):
He shouldn't care. But I kind of think he was
okay either way. What was his winning percentage? Almost ninety percent?
Speaker 4 (02:33:38):
You know, I mean anybody that thought he was gonna
lose his job as an idiot? Yeah? Do I wish
he looked different?
Speaker 16 (02:33:42):
I do?
Speaker 4 (02:33:44):
Am I scared of him?
Speaker 18 (02:33:45):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (02:33:45):
Right, guys? I mean, doesn't it like he has makeup
on and like somebody's darkened as his eyebrows and every mom.
Speaker 3 (02:33:55):
Let's say a movie villain. Don't say the devil.
Speaker 4 (02:33:57):
I mean, oh yeah, the devil was too much. Yeah,
movie villain. I'm back to movie villain. Yeah, and that's
a better way to go. All right, top of the hour.
Speaker 1 (02:34:10):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.
Speaker 9 (02:34:25):
You better listen up. You know what we say, as
I'm gonna tell you gotta find.
Speaker 1 (02:34:40):
Broadcasting from the world the Rick Burchers Show.
Speaker 4 (02:34:44):
Yeah, I was saying no to the fake world. Not
gonna live there, not gonna live there. All right, So
here we go the real world. Uh, and we're glad
you're here.
Speaker 2 (02:34:53):
We'll try to get more your phone calls in this
hour at eighty eight eighty eight six big box.
Speaker 4 (02:35:00):
You can text us with that too. We're watching your
text so pay attention for that. We got Speedy and
Adler at this hour. Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:35:08):
And Greg as being a good son. Uh, you know
our mom and Speedy watching you as well. And thank
goodness for Adler. His parents are still able to do
everything on their own. But you know, the aging parent world,
that's uh, that's a different world, and it's there's a
lot to it.
Speaker 4 (02:35:29):
Uh.
Speaker 8 (02:35:30):
And so.
Speaker 4 (02:35:32):
We're now Greg has to take mom to one of
her appointments.
Speaker 2 (02:35:35):
And this particular appointment as you as we all know,
when you're dealing with medical things and things your parents need,
and you certainly understand this speedy and and you know
addler either with grandparents. But you know, sometimes the the
doctor will dictate and in this particular case, what mom
needs done today. As they're they're going back to check
(02:35:55):
you know, she had the you know men we had
she had the seizure and all that, and so she
needs to go back and do a let's see how
the brain is doing.
Speaker 5 (02:36:03):
OK.
Speaker 4 (02:36:03):
And she and they.
Speaker 2 (02:36:04):
Basically said, well, I'm sorry, there is no option for
you to come and have this done after your sons
are done with work.
Speaker 4 (02:36:12):
I'm sorry. And so Greg's had to leave early today
because if we don't you know how this is if
you miss your window, you got to get an old baby.
You've got to get it in.
Speaker 7 (02:36:22):
And here and my dad walk out what time our
follow up appointment needs to be every time for me
to get there.
Speaker 4 (02:36:28):
He has to be between you know, dad, Dad, this
is in the person? Just sit in the person? Is
it in the scheduler?
Speaker 7 (02:36:34):
He's walked out, how we need to have a certain time, Dad, Well,
we'll get to that person this is and then well
she just wants to get out of the room.
Speaker 4 (02:36:40):
Dad. I think there was experienced with this because of
being with Greg, because he like our dad and now
like your dad. They're a think out loud bunch. Yes
and uh.
Speaker 2 (02:36:53):
And so you've learned to kind of manage that with
Greg because Greg is going, it don't matter what's going on,
he's going, he's gonna be thinking out loud and doing.
Speaker 4 (02:37:00):
It the whole the whole time.
Speaker 7 (02:37:03):
And Dad, because he can't see he here is typing
on the keyboard when they you know, when they come
in and they get information and they think he goes
into stories and like she's just she's opening the computer
death she's logging in.
Speaker 4 (02:37:15):
All she's doing is logging in hang on, not the scheduling,
not the schedule.
Speaker 7 (02:37:18):
But here is Greg because he's he is, I mean,
he's real. But yet he'll go negative if you don't watch.
He already has them not being able to find a
parking spot and and this is going to be a
nightmare and cars won't crank well stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (02:37:34):
Just think it's hilarious.
Speaker 2 (02:37:35):
Don't you think it's a little much of He added
to carjacking and you know where we're going, we're gonna
get car.
Speaker 4 (02:37:39):
Jack and Greg, wow that is but we'll go in.
Speaker 2 (02:37:44):
There won't be one they see it and then, as
you know, we've talked about this a lot, a lot,
there is this this, this swaying back and forth.
Speaker 4 (02:37:53):
And I think they are sincere. I truly do.
Speaker 2 (02:37:55):
I know when I said, I think our parents are
completely sincere that they don't want to be a burden.
They're completely They're completely sincere about it. However, it's interesting
for them to watch their trying to do the deal, like,
for instance, this test today. Yeah, okay, well we need it,
and and Greg and I know it's important and it
needs to be done.
Speaker 5 (02:38:17):
Well, I just I don't.
Speaker 2 (02:38:19):
I just wish we weren't even doing this today. I
know this is turned Yall's world upside down, especially Greggs
hadn't really turned mind, I mean Greg's Handley, I'm here
hanging out with the guys up by the way, and
then and then you hear this, Well, I just don't
even I just wish you weren't even doing it then,
obvios a paulse of course this is.
Speaker 4 (02:38:37):
Information we really need, you know, they may argue in yourself.
Speaker 2 (02:38:42):
Yeah, I guess I'm okay, I guess maybe this would
help me know why I'm just not quite right.
Speaker 4 (02:38:45):
Yet, you know, But I don't want to do it.
Let's just forget it.
Speaker 7 (02:38:49):
Well, most parents in that generation, for sure, they grew
up doing everything on their own and they didn't ask
for help. And you, you know, you got after it.
You rolled your sleeves up and you made it happened.
So them asking for help is hard.
Speaker 4 (02:39:02):
Oh it's not.
Speaker 7 (02:39:03):
I mean because they I mean that they'd be laying
around Like I remember with COVID, you know everybody was
on lockdown. Well, I go in and my dad's like,
not well he but he hadn't said a word to anybody, nobody.
Speaker 4 (02:39:17):
What do you do?
Speaker 7 (02:39:18):
You know, it's their own version. I want to be
able to prevent a big problem. Let's let me know
what's happening.
Speaker 4 (02:39:23):
Now we're chasing.
Speaker 7 (02:39:25):
Yeah, but now Race is there and he can he
can be my eyes and tattle on him, which is
kind of fun. Hey, I know I shouldn't be telling
you this, but Granddaddy, he's got a little call or whatever.
Speaker 4 (02:39:36):
I said. Are you tabbling on on? Grand But don't
you need that?
Speaker 5 (02:39:39):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:39:39):
Yeah, he going to tell you. He's like, yeah, it's
kind of fun. Yeah he's not going to tell you.
Speaker 19 (02:39:43):
I know.
Speaker 8 (02:39:44):
I tell you, Well, my dad needed back surgery for
ten years, did say a word, didn't tell anybody.
Speaker 18 (02:39:50):
No.
Speaker 4 (02:39:51):
I remember him telling me that, I'm like, my goodness,
how long have you let this go on?
Speaker 3 (02:39:55):
My goodness?
Speaker 2 (02:39:56):
I know we've said this before too. I don't know
if I think we have told this story, But my
dad once let he had We didn't know. This sounds
just like y'o's dads. He was doing something on a
ladder and he fell. And when he fell, you know
those old concrete blocks.
Speaker 4 (02:40:12):
I don't know. When I grew up, there was always
concrete blocks here there. What were they for? I mean? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:40:21):
And so his ribs hit that, okay, Well, he never
says anything because his ribs are hurting. Well, now, when
he develops some kind of chest deal, he can't keep
himself the productive cough because it hurts his.
Speaker 4 (02:40:36):
Ribs so much.
Speaker 2 (02:40:37):
So now he's not coughing for any kind of productivity,
which then leads to some sort of pneumonia setting up.
And then and then he never tells us about that,
and then his fever gets so high he's hallucinating. But
Mom finds him leaning up against the wall in the shower,
not knowing where he is. He goes into all these
bizarre speeches with high fever about out how he put
(02:41:00):
on a sweatshirt and we're like, Dad, you're burning up,
and he said, but this is my strength, and he
kept keeping want anybody getting near him, and then I
kidch you not. So the last thing me is like
a teenager that I know is my dad has a
high fever. He's got some sort of pneumonia, his ribs
are bruised, and he's hallucinating. That's the last thing I
know about him till the next morning. Okay, next morning,
(02:41:25):
I was like, where's that it was? It was over
the summer, and she said, well, he went to work.
Speaker 4 (02:41:31):
I said, went to work. I said he was.
Speaker 2 (02:41:33):
He was hallucinating and and no, this is what will
get you now. He's a foo if you know he's
a football coach. This was not during season, this was
not even during prat you know what what he went
to work for? Like, no one could have done this.
To be sure that the weight room was open.
Speaker 1 (02:41:53):
That's what he did.
Speaker 2 (02:41:54):
Yeah, I mean, if there's anything you could have called
an assistant coach or somebody said hey, make sure the
weight rooms open for their several workouts that they come
and to on their own.
Speaker 4 (02:42:04):
There was no, but that's just the way they are,
it is. And then he never mentioned it again.
Speaker 7 (02:42:08):
No, And if you're taking care of if you're taking
care of aging parents, it's kind of fun to get
onto them, it is, you know, because they've been getting
onto you your whole life.
Speaker 4 (02:42:19):
And I'm like, did you not tell me that? Oh?
Speaker 7 (02:42:21):
Yeah, what do you mean? I'm sorry, son? Well, yeah,
don't let that happen again, you know. And I'm not
talking about it.
Speaker 9 (02:42:26):
No.
Speaker 4 (02:42:26):
It is weird you find yourself am I you know,
of course you know the thing. I don't want to
be a burden. Well, well, not telling me something and
it growing into a problem, that's a burden. So just
to be up front with me.
Speaker 7 (02:42:36):
Like the doctor they did the test on mom, you know,
coming out of uh, you know, being a cancer survivor
and all this because she has to go back for
different tests and they're doing screenings whatever. The doctor goes, yeah,
I see here, what you have a break right here?
Did you some little hairline? It's I mean it's healed now,
but it's right there on that hill right there.
Speaker 11 (02:42:53):
Now.
Speaker 7 (02:42:53):
I went what and Dad said, uncontrollably, is that when
you fell back over those uh water jugs, And I
looked and I said.
Speaker 4 (02:42:59):
What's what are you talking? So they never told you
about that? No, it's like she almost screamed Opa loompa. Yeah,
you know you look like that. And I'm like, you, kid,
did you did you get on her?
Speaker 9 (02:43:09):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (02:43:09):
Isn't it a weird feeling?
Speaker 2 (02:43:11):
But you know I hit it from But I think
if you'll approach this, God, I went with this with
Mom one time. She was saying she didn't want to
be a hassle. Why not wanting to be a hassle?
What she was doing thinking she was not being a
hassle actually was going to create a bigger hassle. Correct,
And I think if we if we stay on that narrative,
I think they can follow that.
Speaker 4 (02:43:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:43:26):
No, I really would like to have known that quicker
and then we could have resolved it. Now that you've
let it go on, it's actually turned to a bigger problem.
Speaker 4 (02:43:32):
But what we now we got the problem? Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:43:34):
So but it's uh that generation that they will be
missed yep, because we're all so soft.
Speaker 4 (02:43:41):
Yeah, such a bunch of PUDs. But now Greg's off
in it.
Speaker 2 (02:43:45):
Gregg's off in it now and it is an interesting
deal that because of the way the show works that
if everybody available in our family to go help someone
with bedside manner, we send Greg that feels wrong.
Speaker 1 (02:44:04):
This is the Rick Burgess show, the man who has
(02:44:27):
never been fashionably late to anything burgeons.
Speaker 4 (02:44:31):
We gotta get there and settle all right. So here
we are rolling through another one, and we're thankful that
you have spent some time with us. Means a lot speedy.
This looks like this sounds like your mom. On the
text line.
Speaker 2 (02:44:48):
This, one of the siblings said, my mom apparently fell
had to be taken by ambulance to the hospital. How
did my brothers and I find out? She accidentally button
dolled us?
Speaker 4 (02:45:00):
Kidding?
Speaker 2 (02:45:01):
Look, you sit right here there, just right there. My
mom went to the hospital yesterday morning via amulance. My
brothers and I never knew anything was wrong until late
last night when she accidentally button dolled me.
Speaker 3 (02:45:11):
God, this their business, Really, it's really none of their business.
Speaker 4 (02:45:16):
Well, I get the well, you're just too busy and
sure this that and the other one.
Speaker 7 (02:45:20):
No, I'm not too busy to know if something's wrong
with either one of you, first of all, or Lisa,
my cousin who's now with them when after my aunt passed,
And so.
Speaker 4 (02:45:29):
I'm like, no, I need to know. We all need
Lend needs to know. We all need to know.
Speaker 7 (02:45:32):
I mean, you don't have to sit here and like
start calling everybody and have a group text. But at
least let somebody know.
Speaker 4 (02:45:37):
But it goes back to it really is a lot
less trouble if I don't have surprises. Yeah, we like,
what do we always say? I can do just about
anything if I just get a heads up. We just
got it. We got to know, all right, we gotta know.
Speaker 2 (02:45:49):
So the California firest speaking of nobody gets heads a horrible, horrible,
horrible LA fire death now up to twenty four uh.
The local residents have been this is a headline, have
been towed to brace for seventy two hours of hell.
Speaker 5 (02:46:07):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (02:46:09):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:46:09):
Man detained by residents with blow torch near LA fires
revealed to be an illegal immigrant.
Speaker 4 (02:46:15):
Yeah. I think this was the one we had where
he was going around like old Christmas trees on.
Speaker 18 (02:46:20):
Well.
Speaker 4 (02:46:20):
I saw one too where they arrested some guy.
Speaker 2 (02:46:23):
Of course he was you know, long, uh, and he
had sat like a dumpster on fire and was standing there,
you know, it's just I'm telling you the world has
gone mad.
Speaker 8 (02:46:34):
There's a fire tornado, which is just ooh a tornado
mixed with a fire.
Speaker 4 (02:46:39):
Oh no, oh, there it is. Yeah.
Speaker 8 (02:46:41):
Yeah, when the wind gets swirling like that, it's really
just a visual cool thing.
Speaker 4 (02:46:46):
Wow, scary.
Speaker 2 (02:46:47):
By the way, Ohio State fans, I know that there's
some great things going on with your team spiritually.
Speaker 4 (02:46:52):
And I do know that your coach is not the devil.
Speaker 5 (02:46:54):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (02:46:55):
So, and back to that game, I think I might
be pulling for Notre Dame. This this folk that the
that are texting. He reminds me every time the quarterback
is from fair Hope, Alabama.
Speaker 4 (02:47:04):
That's there, you go. See those are little things you're
looking for, little nuggets. Is really Yeah, so I think
I'm in on that. Wow, Now, don't do that. You're
trying to convince your wife you know football? Yeah, well,
dot's so surprised. I'll act like I knew that I
know it, and keep forgetting. Yeah, let's step one for you,
adamorle Just watch a current game.
Speaker 3 (02:47:19):
Watch the actual life, actual game.
Speaker 8 (02:47:21):
Right.
Speaker 4 (02:47:22):
So, here's here's a couple of videos.
Speaker 3 (02:47:24):
Here we go.
Speaker 2 (02:47:25):
Here is Gavin Newsome Boy, He's revealed to be. You know,
if the Democratic Party thought he was the future this
this is not going well. Okay, So so here is
Gavin Newsom talking about the fires as if he can't
understand what's going on.
Speaker 4 (02:47:40):
So here here we go. I want to know the answers.
So I'm the governor of California. I want to know
the answer. I've got that question.
Speaker 16 (02:47:45):
I can't tell you about how many people what happened?
My own team saying what happened? And I want to
get the answers, And wasn't going to help you Cannon
with the one getting straight answers. Yeah, I watched the
press conference. I met with some of those leaders. We
had my team start talking in local leaders and what's
going on.
Speaker 8 (02:47:59):
You're the this is your job. You should what happened
is you're the governor of the caliph of the state.
Speaker 2 (02:48:05):
Yes, to me, everybody would be having a press conference
and wanting to talk to you. Well, you want to
talk to Governor Newsom and see what happened. Now he's
acting like, well, I'm the governor, but I have no
idea how this happened.
Speaker 4 (02:48:18):
But that's not good.
Speaker 8 (02:48:20):
You don't see that reservoir that was just empty. Yes,
that was supposed to be the water to put out
the Palisades fire.
Speaker 7 (02:48:26):
Yeah, but at first he said he didn't know anything
about anything being empty, and then I think a reporter
did a pretty good job of letting him know.
Speaker 4 (02:48:33):
And then he's a huh, well, I just yeah, I
know a lot of your leadership, a lot of you
saw it. I've seen it.
Speaker 2 (02:48:40):
The meme because of the hydrants that don't have any
water in them, the reservoir doesn't have any water in them,
and the cutting of the fire department. We've talked about
all that, but that meme where it has the empty
fire hydrant. But yet they made sure that they honored
the LGBT, you know, Pride month by painting with all
the rainbow colors. Yeah, and behind it the whole city
(02:49:00):
is burning. And the best line I saw on that
memes so far it just said some jokes just right themselves.
Speaker 4 (02:49:08):
Nothing Dad. The picture says it all. So here we go.
Speaker 2 (02:49:12):
Next, we're going to somebody speaking of AI has made
an AI video of Gavin Newsom, and they're going with
when Nero supposedly played a violin while Rome burned, By
the way Nero did that to then turn around and
blame it on the Christians, so he could justify killing
them all and jelling them all. But now somebody has
(02:49:35):
has got Gavin Newsom doing this.
Speaker 3 (02:49:38):
AI is out of control. It's so weird that none
of this is real. None of this is actual, even.
Speaker 4 (02:49:43):
The fire and all that's not real, right, and this
particular yes, and okay.
Speaker 3 (02:49:48):
Put oh, here's the fire Chiefs playing the song. Okay, right,
coming in and there's that Oprah Winfrey in the background.
This is not helping anybody.
Speaker 4 (02:50:00):
Running away.
Speaker 8 (02:50:02):
Okay, all right, that's not helping anybody or anything. Now,
if I could along this note like that is that
is funny. But we're not losing we're not losing sight
of the horrible things that have happened to these people.
And we're not happy about it. We're pointing out the
horrible leadership that's led to these situations of the state.
We are not celebrating what has happened to the people
(02:50:24):
of California. There's a there's a woman online who's saying, now,
you know, I'm from California, and I know you you
Southerners are all happy that California is burning. No, nobody's
happy that it's burning, and then she followed up with
because I'm happy every time a hurricane or tornado hits
the South, I'm happy at least I admitted.
Speaker 3 (02:50:42):
Nobody, nobody that I know, nobody that I talked to you.
It's happy that that happened.
Speaker 8 (02:50:47):
We're frustrated and upset with the management of this This state,
California has the best land in the country and the
worst management of it.
Speaker 3 (02:50:55):
That's what we're upset about.
Speaker 8 (02:50:56):
We're nobody's celebrating maybe democrats or whoever, humans losing their homes.
Nobody's celebrating that.
Speaker 2 (02:51:02):
Well, how about this person admitting, though, when bad things
happen in parts of the country where she disagrees with
people politically, she is happy.
Speaker 4 (02:51:10):
Right right, don't miss that part of it.
Speaker 8 (02:51:12):
You're now an evil person, like you don't have the
high road at all. My goodness, what are you doing?
Speaker 2 (02:51:18):
A lot of people showing video of these incredible pilots
that are scooping, yes, thousands of gallons out of the
water to drop on the fires. You talk about expertise
and flying. I got lost in this, yes, totally transparent.
I was hunting and you're watching.
Speaker 7 (02:51:34):
I had a little bit of a break where there
was not a lot of activity cold and yeah, and
I looked down and I got lost in these videos.
It was one pilot after another going down and scooping
up water and then.
Speaker 4 (02:51:47):
And then going to drop it. And some of the
drops were so perfect. You guys know how that works.
Speaker 8 (02:51:52):
By the way, it's a little thing that like a
little cup almost that just comes down while they're skimming
the water, just like groop out of the belly like
a kangaroo pouch or something, you know, and then all
the water goes in. That is the Canada air cl
two point fifteen wings span about one hundred feet to
give you an idea how big of an aircraft we're
looking at.
Speaker 4 (02:52:10):
Wow, So did you really think that no one knows
it's scooping up water?
Speaker 3 (02:52:13):
Well, I didn't know if you knew about the Kangaroo mountains?
Speaker 4 (02:52:15):
Okay, yeah, yeah, house, could that be getting watered the well?
Speaker 16 (02:52:19):
You know?
Speaker 3 (02:52:19):
Never know that opens?
Speaker 4 (02:52:20):
Yeah, yeah, something got you.
Speaker 3 (02:52:22):
Okay, But it's pressive flying.
Speaker 7 (02:52:24):
Nonetheless, the video from the ground where people are video
and the planes coming in with like their phone and
they're at their house and across the streets on fire
and it's a perfect drop.
Speaker 2 (02:52:34):
Yes, a way to go.
Speaker 4 (02:52:36):
Factoring the wind. Yeah, But as far.
Speaker 8 (02:52:39):
As the mismanage of it, there's there's so many examples
of people using their own water hoses to put out
the fires around their houses, saying there was no fire department,
there was nobody there to help, and the fire fire
hundreds were empty.
Speaker 3 (02:52:54):
It's just sad the mismanagement of it were dead.
Speaker 4 (02:52:57):
Because we'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (02:53:00):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. You still denying any
(02:53:24):
involvements in the food flights of nineteen seventy nine.
Speaker 2 (02:53:28):
Rick questions if total total circumstantial evidence there, Here we go.
Speaker 4 (02:53:35):
Thanks for being with us today.
Speaker 2 (02:53:37):
If you're if you're thinking and nobody likes to think
about this, you're thinking about taxes.
Speaker 12 (02:53:42):
Here we go.
Speaker 4 (02:53:43):
It's about to be tax time again. I mean probably
if you're like like a lot of us, you're starting
to get things in the mail.
Speaker 2 (02:53:49):
Hey you need this for your taxes, Tax this, tax that, everywhere,
tax tax. Let me let me point you to Tax
Network USA. Look, we don't have to be paying attention
all that much to realize the privilege to get tax
pardons while hardworking Americans do not. So the RS just
(02:54:10):
stepped up enforcement. And if you owe back taxes or
have unfiled returns. They be looking for you. Do not
wait for the RS letter to come to you. It's
gonna be too late. Then waiting to get caught makes
you look like a tax evader. You don't want that,
and it's not going to end well. Okay, they're gonna think, oh,
(02:54:32):
you try to hide from us. Just own it, get
ahead of it. Never contact the RS alone. The reason
why the uber rich are not dealing with this is
because the RS knows. Between them and the uber rich
are lots of lawyers that know what to do. They
figure that maybe you and I don't have that, So
(02:54:54):
you need to get an advocate for yourself.
Speaker 4 (02:54:57):
And that's Tax Network USA.
Speaker 2 (02:55:00):
All tax resolution companies are the same, and these folks
have strong relationships with the IRS.
Speaker 4 (02:55:05):
They have a preferred direct line right to the RS.
Guess what else they know? Don't you love? If somebody says, hey,
don't deal with that person, let me tell you need
to talk to you ever had that experience with anything?
Speaker 2 (02:55:15):
You finally got some who cares. They know who those
people are versus the ones that are just going to
be a problem. So if you've got anywhere you know
you need to owe ten thousand or even up to
ten million.
Speaker 4 (02:55:26):
I hope that's not the case.
Speaker 2 (02:55:27):
But their attorneys and negotiators are standing by ready to go.
All right, So why don't you talk to one of
their strategists now for free? Stop looking over your shoulder
and put the RS troubles behind you by calling one
eight hundred and nine to five eight one thousand or
TNUSA dot com, slash big Vox, or just use the
link at Rick burgesshow dot com.
Speaker 7 (02:55:46):
So, by the way, you're starting to get that stuff
in the mail, Yes, yeah, got some last week, I think, metim.
I have a question for you real quick, Kennesaul Georgia.
Do you know what sets them apart from every city
in the country. It's in nineteen eighty two.
Speaker 2 (02:56:04):
It's where my in laws live. Oh really, yes, okay,
On Blake's wife is from there.
Speaker 3 (02:56:10):
Well really.
Speaker 7 (02:56:12):
It was the first US town to require residents to
legally own a gun in the home. The head of
each home has to have gun in Mo. It was
a law passed the nineteen eighty still and it's still
the thing. It's a pride for most embarrassment for others.
But there's a story that's in Fox News, BBC and
(02:56:34):
others interviewed the mayor and other local officials, and they
said the law itself really keeps crime down because people
know that each home they go into has guns in
m O and they pride themselves in that. But they
said it's not the guns that keep crime down. They
it's the possibility that the homeowners are going to react
(02:56:55):
if you try to break in their home.
Speaker 4 (02:56:57):
But I didn't know this.
Speaker 7 (02:56:58):
Now you got other town that you know, the first
to ban gun to whatever. They were, the first in
nineteen eighty two to actually require every head of the
house to.
Speaker 3 (02:57:06):
Have a gun, own it and have When you sent
this to me, I read it. I read it. I
couldn't believe it, I know. So when you said it
just now, I was like, oh, that's the situation.
Speaker 8 (02:57:17):
Yes, in my mind I read in Kennesaw, Georgia, it's
against the law to own a gun, is what I
would be like, Well, that's weird, yeah, but it's to
not own a.
Speaker 4 (02:57:26):
Gun, to not own a gun.
Speaker 2 (02:57:29):
So if the if the head of the house is
legally bound, if we lived in Kennesaw, we'd have to
be teaching our wives how to use a gun.
Speaker 4 (02:57:35):
I guess yeah, you said head of the house, right, sure, yeah, right.
Speaker 5 (02:57:40):
Absolutely.
Speaker 18 (02:57:42):
No.
Speaker 7 (02:57:43):
But the attitude is is that, hey, when you come
into this town, we kind of handle our own business.
And just the fact that people know that crimes down.
Speaker 4 (02:57:51):
You know. I make a joke.
Speaker 2 (02:57:52):
About that about this, but honestly, and I think we're
all the same way, our wives. If you are someone
who doesn't want to get shot, it's better for me
to have the gun. My wife shoot you a second.
I mean just I mean, you break into her house,
you can you? Oh yeah, there's there's no doubt about it.
Put it down, you know, because we're married to Southern women.
(02:58:12):
I remember, I remember we always would laugh.
Speaker 4 (02:58:14):
We'd watch these press conferences where some husband, you know,
has embarrassed his family with some you know, horrible affair,
and he's some politician or whatever or football coach or whatever,
and they're sitting here at the press conference and you
see the wife's standing right next town.
Speaker 2 (02:58:29):
I'm like, she's not from the South. My wife would
be nowhere around. As a matter of fact, I would
be this would be me at the press conference.
Speaker 4 (02:58:37):
Right if she was there looking over my shoulder, you know,
and all that.
Speaker 2 (02:58:41):
But but no, The reason why this works if you remember,
of all people, not exactly a staunch conservative, Oprah Winfrey.
She did a show long time ago where they brought
out rehabilitated criminals who are now helping law enforcement. And
they asked them, and this is just your standard break
in people, And they asked, what is the thing that
(02:59:02):
deters you the most?
Speaker 11 (02:59:03):
Is it?
Speaker 4 (02:59:04):
Is it security systems? Is it whatever?
Speaker 2 (02:59:07):
And they said, oh, about easy weapons. If we think
there's weapons in there, we just move on to the
next house. Because they're predators. They're looking for the easiest
way to get what they want without getting hurt. Yeah,
they're looking for the week. They're looking for those and
it's just not worth it. And what they're saying is
this house is well, go back, go back. I mean,
(02:59:27):
I know this is kind of nauseating and people don't
like to think about it. But when we had the
sum was it the summer of twenty twenty, when we
had all the burning of the towns, Oh yeah, the
Summer of Love. If you recall, you did not see
Suburbia get attacked. You didn't know what got attacked were
places that don't have the ability to defend themselves because
(02:59:49):
of stupid laws that don't allow people to defend themselves.
You run off into small town America and say we're
going to burn the town square.
Speaker 4 (02:59:59):
You know you're going to die.
Speaker 2 (03:00:01):
Those people are going to kill you, and so what
the what the people who were ready to burn things,
let me tell you what, they didn't burn where armed
people were. No, and the ones who tried it paid
a horrible price. Yeah, so it's it's a deterrent, it
really is. And you don't really end up having to
shoot anybody. No, And so I'm wondering, is that so
right now?
Speaker 4 (03:00:20):
I'd like to know the crime rate of kennesas Yeah,
very low. Yeah.
Speaker 7 (03:00:23):
And the mayor even said that to his knowledge, there
hadn't been any prosecutions or rest made for violating the
nineteen eighty two law. In other words, everybody, oh bid,
it's by the law, and the leader of each home
has a gun.
Speaker 4 (03:00:36):
And the crime rate is low.
Speaker 8 (03:00:37):
The crime rate is incredibly low, it is. I bet
the city has these. It's the safest in the county,
Cobb County.
Speaker 4 (03:00:44):
Wow.
Speaker 8 (03:00:46):
There are some exceptions people in In fact, somebody asked
on the text line, what if you are convicted of
a felony there are exceptions, sure, Okay, those who've committed
felonies or met people with physical or mental disabilities.
Speaker 4 (03:00:58):
Yeah, or those who, oh.
Speaker 8 (03:00:59):
Wow, are those who conscientiously oppose owning fire arms. So
I guess you can apply for an ext I guess.
Speaker 4 (03:01:06):
So, I guess I like those are work turtle. Next,
I'm against you.
Speaker 2 (03:01:11):
And you know who those people are because they're the
ones that keep the number from being zero on the
crime rate.
Speaker 4 (03:01:17):
They're the ones that get their houses broken.
Speaker 18 (03:01:19):
They do.
Speaker 2 (03:01:19):
Yeah, are there are their carjacked? I mean no, I
mean it's a determ.
Speaker 7 (03:01:23):
It says, uh, I'm in Kennesaul. The only crime is
when we have people come in from Atlanta and.
Speaker 4 (03:01:28):
Don't know the law.
Speaker 7 (03:01:33):
But now some other cities have adopted this as well.
Uh and uh, you know, so it's not only there,
But they were the first in nineteen eighty two. I thought,
I just thought it was interesting.
Speaker 4 (03:01:43):
No, gotcha, No it is.
Speaker 7 (03:01:45):
And as there's a Morton Grove, Illinois, they're the first
city to ban guns from being owned.
Speaker 4 (03:01:52):
But so Kennesaul is the opposite.
Speaker 3 (03:01:54):
Count me out.
Speaker 7 (03:01:55):
So there's a place that bans Yeah, Illinois became the
first city in the US to ban gun ownership. How
can you do that with the Second Amendment. That's a
great question. That's just in the story. So I hadn't
had a chance to look into that. But there's some
cities in Colorado, Virginia, Utah, Texas that have adopted this
(03:02:17):
Kennesaul law back to nineteen eighty two.
Speaker 2 (03:02:20):
Yeah, and I'm okay with you also putting in there
some training, you know, and although, yeah, because you want
people to be able to handle a firearm safely, but
it is a deterrent and to pretend it isn't just
isn't true.
Speaker 4 (03:02:33):
Correct. Yeah, And it's because when.
Speaker 2 (03:02:37):
You take away like that other city and say the
private citizens cannot defend themselves, then of course this is
pretty common sense. Then the criminal says, good because I can't.
And you're like, well, he broke the law to get
the gun. Eh, he's pannel breaking the house, probably breaking the.
Speaker 3 (03:02:53):
Law, not a he's a robber.
Speaker 4 (03:02:54):
He's already got on record that will break the law.
So the gun law wouldn't a big deal.
Speaker 8 (03:02:59):
Gun laws don't work on criminals, no, and impact people
normal people humans, Right.
Speaker 2 (03:03:05):
I worry I want anybody out there that thinks they're
going to do us or our famili's harm. I want
them to come to the conclusion that it's not worth it. Yeah, yeah,
for sure, it's not worth it.
Speaker 4 (03:03:16):
Yeah yeah.
Speaker 17 (03:03:18):
You know.
Speaker 2 (03:03:18):
I actually had a standoff one time with somebody that
was I could tell they were approaching for the attempt
on some sort of carjack or whatever like really, and
all idea was say, hey, man, it's not worth it.
Speaker 4 (03:03:29):
I mean, I've got the gun right here, just just
move on. Then they did. Then they did, let's go
phone calls coming back eight eight eight six Big Box
eight eight eight six Big Box.
Speaker 1 (03:03:41):

Speaker 4 (03:05:08):
City it's not actually Panama City Beach before one of

Speaker 2 (03:05:11):
And then also Atlanta, Georgia. So those are three Man
Church conferences coming up.
Speaker 5 (03:05:16):

Speaker 4 (03:05:38):
To the phones, we go, Let's get started. Let's go with.
Speaker 2 (03:05:45):
Jeremy. Let's see, let's do it again here. I think
we're gonna have to address this. It looks like it's
doing every time. Let me see if I can just
touch these kenna.
Speaker 4 (03:05:56):
All right? Could this thing's doing it now? Every time?
Speaker 2 (03:05:59):
It's a this mouse, there's gonna have to be a
mouse replacement or something. So, I don't know what you think.
It's got a short in it or something. Maybe I
know the first day back it was it was kind
of hung up under there. Maybe that we pulled a
short in it, meaning I pulled a short in it.
Speaker 4 (03:06:17):
No, that's not it. You can't see them say it disappears.
So I wonder if it has a short in it.
Do you do you think?
Speaker 3 (03:06:25):
I don't think it's a short. I think it's a
graphic or a software bug.
Speaker 2 (03:06:29):
Okay, software bug, thank you adler. That what we're saying
is I have to use a mouse to answer these phones,
and so the mouse every day now is starting to
it's not working. I thought that there's a touchscreen option
on this. Am I wrong about that?
Speaker 4 (03:06:43):
To touch it?
Speaker 11 (03:06:45):
Ye?
Speaker 2 (03:06:46):
Touch this one touch in him? Yeah, I thought I
thought that option. Well, no, that's people calling, all right.
Speaker 4 (03:06:55):
So that so that's it. We've tried it how many times?
Now that's it you get Are you giving up? Okay?
He gave up on me, speed, So yeah he did.
He just gave up.
Speaker 18 (03:07:07):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (03:07:08):
The problem is what normally fixes it is not working.
Mm hmmmm. So am I wrong about the touch spring option?
I guess I was. Oh my gosh. So you just
redid the because you think it is a bug too,
don't you? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (03:07:23):
Yeah, okay, okay he's calling. Well, Speedy, you're really getting
involved now, I mean you talk about getting aggressive. I
mean you're really getting aggressive. Okay, all right, thank you?
Speaker 4 (03:07:36):
All right? So all right, Speedy is just like I've
had enough of this and there he goes.
Speaker 2 (03:07:40):
He fixed it at a boy, Speedy bas well done,
all right, thank you buddy.
Speaker 4 (03:07:45):
Uh there it is there. This works, Jeremy, you're on
go ahead, that boy, Speedy.
Speaker 11 (03:07:50):
I was gonna see aft you songs Joe Rogan where
Mel Gibson was on there and he said he the
Resurrection of the Christ films next year with Jim Caviezel.
It starts with the fall of the angels and ends
with the death of the Last Apostles.
Speaker 4 (03:08:04):
You know what I heard that was gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (03:08:07):
I didn't know that we now have a timeline, so
that that's going to be extremely intriguing. You know a
lot of times you wonder why there's been some attempts
to take the let's go from the resurrection on.
Speaker 4 (03:08:21):
But but anyway, that's uh. I'd be all about that,
so that that's good to hear.
Speaker 5 (03:08:26):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (03:08:26):
Let's go to uh, let's go to John and Odinville.
John listening to zz K John. Go ahead, Hey, guys.
Speaker 13 (03:08:35):
One, please try to learn that new software. I can't
hear ad Lerriell touch.
Speaker 3 (03:08:39):
It anymore, that is fair.
Speaker 13 (03:08:44):
I have a theory on Ryan Day, Ohio State's hey
football coach.
Speaker 5 (03:08:47):
Yes, I think he's Santa Claus the Son.
Speaker 13 (03:08:51):
That's why his teacher so read he dies his beard black.
Speaker 4 (03:08:55):
Fred Claus really like the real deal.
Speaker 2 (03:08:59):
That's funny. He's an odd looking fella. I mean he
really is Let's go to Steve and Sweet Home, Alabama.
Speaker 5 (03:09:06):
Steve, go ahead, Hey, good morning.
Speaker 21 (03:09:09):
I wanted to talk about the water supplies in Los Angeles, California. Okay,
a lot of these big cities require houses and apartments
and want not to have sprinkler systems. Yeah, and if
the sprinkless systems all go off at once, well then
do you have no water at the fire hidings?
Speaker 4 (03:09:29):
Yeah, but I don't think in this case.
Speaker 2 (03:09:31):
Remember we actually had Trump backed it up, and there
was a lot of people talking about this smelt. Is
that what was like a minnow or something that they
were trying to save and they knew they were going
to have a water trouble, and the federal government tried
to find a way to when Trump was in charge,
right have that right that they were going to try
(03:09:51):
to get water to them, and they were turned down
because of the plight of the smelt or something like that.
Speaker 8 (03:09:58):
A smelt in the sam And they're diverting all kinds
of tearing down dams, getting rid of water and reservoirs.
Speaker 2 (03:10:05):
Yeah, yeah, you know, they don't they don't cut fire breaks,
they don't. They do everything run wild. Well, if you
let everything run wild, and you take out what we
believe is a biblical mandate for us to be the
tenders of the garden. And the garden isn't being tended.
Then when the fire does break out, hey baby, she burns.
So that's all the wild you can have. You Now
you've got a wild fire hunter in Dothan.
Speaker 4 (03:10:26):
Hunter.
Speaker 2 (03:10:27):
Welcome to Rick and Bubba. And thanks for ricking Bubba
to the Rick Burgess Show. That's only the fifth time
I've done that bad in six days. Yeah, all right,
to a hunter, welcome to the program.
Speaker 22 (03:10:37):
Yeah, don't see the story about the organ sending like
sixty fire trucks and they get the suckermento and they
won't let them go to the fires because of something
to do with the emissions of some of the environmental stuff,
and they they wouldn't.
Speaker 21 (03:10:52):
Let them through.
Speaker 4 (03:10:53):
I haven't No, that would not surprise me that.
Speaker 2 (03:10:55):
That sounds very la like that, even when other fire
departments show up that their fire trucks are going to
kill the earth.
Speaker 4 (03:11:02):
I tell you what's really hurting the earth right now,
it's on fire. So yeah, that one. So, yeah, that
wouldn't surprise me if you heard that. I have not
heard that.
Speaker 8 (03:11:11):
Yeah, And all those all the emissions from that fire
has totally undone all of the correct the green cars.
Speaker 3 (03:11:16):
That have that they that they support so much in California.
Speaker 8 (03:11:20):
And Gavin Newsom is doing interviews now and he's talking
about how he has a team imagining reimagining LA two
point zero, and you're like, why did you already have
this team before the Fire's buddy, I wish you'd had
like a LA one point oh, like no fire team.
Speaker 3 (03:11:35):
That would have been a better team to have.
Speaker 2 (03:11:37):
Do they understand things that like I know, they think
we're all backward and all that. Did they understand the
things that we all understand? Like this fire has launched
more carbon emissions into the atmosphere than any efforts they've
ever made.
Speaker 4 (03:11:53):
To cut down on emissions. Don't they know that? I
think they do? I mean, because I mean we know it.
We do, so don't don't they know it?
Speaker 3 (03:12:01):
They just hope they hope you don't know it?
Speaker 8 (03:12:04):
And that doesn't help with all these you know, but
what are they accomplishing of land grabs and reimagining the city,
And I mean, it's it's not good.
Speaker 2 (03:12:14):
Well, it's another case of what we've been warning about
on this on this show and the thirty one years
of doing the Rick and Bubba's Show. Sometimes you can
be so open minded that your entire brain falls out. Yeah,
I mean, you gotta gotta keep some brain in there.
Speaker 4 (03:12:29):
Thanks for being with us.
