and I go to bed when I want to. Uh man,
less fooling with something you got to do over there? Well,

(04:44):
I mean, uh, you know, I come and go as
I want to, so it really shouldn't affect me. But

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Look at that? What is that?

Speaker 5 (05:39):
That's the raw chicken.

Speaker 7 (05:40):

Speaker 10 (05:50):
Gary?

Speaker 2 (05:50):
I will say I was a little.

Speaker 5 (05:52):
Bit disappointed, just a smidge when when you cooked for us,
when we had the fish fry lash spring. Yeah, just
just a little bit that you gave us frozen hush puppies.

Speaker 7 (06:02):
I mean, next time, all make's on.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Man, did you bring anything today? I brought me.

Speaker 11 (06:11):
No?

Speaker 2 (06:12):
Why?

Speaker 7 (06:13):
Well, after last night we went out and ate.

Speaker 2 (06:16):
You know, another win update.

Speaker 7 (06:20):
Look out one place that I still can go in,
you know down there?

Speaker 2 (06:24):
You want me to go there? You want me to
go there?

Speaker 7 (06:28):
I don't know. But she asked me what I'm gonna
cook any pies or clean up? Brother, and I said, no,
I ain't taking them nothing. Wow, Gary, that stuff back
there now?

Speaker 5 (06:39):
Yeah, but it's not your stuff that you're I've seen you,
I've seen you post.

Speaker 7 (06:44):
I'm pretty particular about my cooking now, I know you are.
I mean I.

Speaker 5 (06:50):
People people are really responding to your cooking videos them. Yeah, yeah, nice,
that's that's right.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
Absolutely, that's all all.

Speaker 5 (07:00):
Paula Dean with the beard, absolutely yeah, and you know,
not the one she has, but like one that's a
little more thick.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Yeah, yours a little thing. That's good. Guys, Gary, Can
I ask you some questions? Yeah? Okay? Have you talked
to Rick about hunting season about some of the suggestions
you have on here we go and how's that been received?
Here we go, Well, here we go, if you don't mind,
I just like to talk to somebody.

Speaker 5 (07:27):
What y'all need to do is park in Montgomery and
then walk up sixty five.

Speaker 2 (07:33):
I think that we should listen to Gary. I think
some of the stuff I'm saying.

Speaker 7 (07:36):
You know a lot of people. You know, I've been
I've been in the woods for here we go forty
something years. Let you're coming, you learn, you learn a
good bit. You know what that leuture I'll give you
at the table down there at the camp house. I did, Yes,
I mean, you worry about things that you shouldn't even
worry about.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
But I forgot what I was gonna say. I'm looking
for estions because things that you have said do make sense.
And but but we maybe can't go as far as
you want. But what are some things we could do
that that bother you?

Speaker 7 (08:10):
Well, you need to be as quiet as you can.
You know you need tuck bath every once in a while,
it or not.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
But why are you looking.

Speaker 5 (08:18):
At me when you said Well, you said when we
did Tales from the camp House, you said that it
looks more like we're wanting to just hang out and
goof off. It don't look like we're serious.

Speaker 7 (08:28):
Well, yeah, that's true. Yeah, I mean we have a
good time on the way down there, Yes we do.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
So you're saying when we go into the stance, we
shouldn't be laughing and cutting up.

Speaker 7 (08:39):
Now you don't need to.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
I like to ride right up to work.

Speaker 7 (08:42):
I mean a lot of you know, these especially your
big bucks, they pattern you just let you try to pattern. Now,
they know they know when you're there and when you're not.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
So you think we should just walk in? What if
you all the way into backs way? I do?

Speaker 7 (09:01):
I mean I'm sixty eight years old. I walk all
the way them back if I want to.

Speaker 2 (09:05):
I don't mind walking.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
But if that's the key if a lot, yeah, I
mean you know we walk a good bit. I mean
I personally. I mean, don't you think those deer think
if they hear trucks and stuff, it's time for the
feeders to be full too.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
Oh no, they they they know the difference. They know
the difference in my truck. I mean I drive, right,
They know the difference in the truck you're driving. Oh yeah,
oh yeah right. How'd they come up with that study? Right?

Speaker 7 (09:30):
Well, they stand right on side of the road and
watch me drive by with feed on truck and they're
stand there and look at me. Do I get done?
They'll come over and start eat right.

Speaker 5 (09:39):
But if you come in the same truck, they look
they send out.

Speaker 2 (09:42):
There's no feedingback of the truck.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
Look out.

Speaker 7 (09:44):
Yeah, yeah they remember, don't they there?

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (09:49):
They remember.

Speaker 5 (09:49):
I thought they were more smell than anything.

Speaker 12 (09:54):
Now if I take my iPad out to the tree stand,
do I need to use my racons or can I
just play it a with the speaker?

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Well, you need to leave all that famp into.

Speaker 4 (10:04):
Well, I guess I need to go to a doctor.

Speaker 5 (10:07):
And now we're going to text each other with our
funny lifey no phones, no phones?

Speaker 7 (11:31):
Somebody messaged me on Facebook. I want to know if
I could come. I told them I don't. I don't
think Rick letting go.

Speaker 5 (11:39):
No, after not, after what happened in Louisiana, I will not,
And we gotta let some more time pass. See I've
been I've been keeping an eye on you. Hadn't seen
a lot of change. You still seem a little bit argumentative. Yeah, yeah,
still willing to fight claims have been thrown out of
cover restaurants. Yeah, the way you've been throwing out these

(12:01):
restaurants lately, that is not helping.

Speaker 7 (12:03):
It's not my fault. Well you may, it's not your
just got to act.

Speaker 2 (12:06):
Right here you go?

Speaker 7 (12:08):
WHOA, I ain't gonna call them names but you know,
I said, two different ones get throwed out.

Speaker 2 (12:17):
Did you get asked to leave?

Speaker 7 (12:18):
They wouldn't big enough throw me out. They just asked
me to leave.

Speaker 5 (12:21):
Okay, well that's different, big that's not different. But you
weren't physically throwing.

Speaker 2 (12:26):
This is what I understand from you. I kind of
wanted to. I know you as a kind man. That's
that's stern. But yet you're.

Speaker 7 (12:33):
Very you're veryssive woman food with his food.

Speaker 2 (12:37):
But I hear a lot of reports where you get
an argument stuff, and I'm like, I don't see that guy.

Speaker 7 (12:40):
But I'm at the age and the point in my
life now that it don't take me a whole lot
to tell somebody.

Speaker 5 (12:49):
Yeah, all right, what they can You've done enough? You
we're saying, but what happened?

Speaker 2 (12:56):
What do you mean? Your food?

Speaker 5 (12:57):
Is it cold?

Speaker 7 (12:59):
But you know what I ordered? You know, when you
order something and then they come back and put it
down in front of you and that's not even.

Speaker 2 (13:09):
What you ordered. I don't even resemble.

Speaker 7 (13:11):
Then I said, this is not what I ordered.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Well did you say it like that? You better tell
the truth down?

Speaker 7 (13:18):
Yes I did. I said, this is not what I ordered. Hey,
sain't what I ordered and when they say, uh, well
we was out what you ordered? I just brought you this.
I said, what could you not come and asked me?
Did I want this get elevated?

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Now? Well, I gotta agree with Gary on that.

Speaker 7 (13:33):
I mean I even told her. I said, you know,
she must have been hard to hear.

Speaker 5 (13:37):
Oh, I say, now that's the stuff you're at, I mean,
and say something wrong with their ears.

Speaker 7 (13:43):
And then the next place, you know, they said they
didn't allow cussing in the restaurant.

Speaker 2 (13:46):
So you get you.

Speaker 5 (13:50):
Want to and you want to go to mountains on. Yeah,
was this a family restaurant? You're cussing?

Speaker 13 (13:57):
No?

Speaker 2 (13:57):
Not really? Did you say what? Did you say? What? What?

Speaker 6 (14:00):
How?

Speaker 2 (14:00):
Don't say the word? But did you was it what?
It involve a bull? Yeah?

Speaker 7 (14:08):
Well part them?

Speaker 2 (14:09):
Yeah? Yeah, is that what you said? Wow? You got
you got out?

Speaker 5 (14:14):
Is that the place you didn't like to size the oysters?

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (14:17):
Oh yeah, when you put when you put full oysters
on one cracker, you know a little small a little
small little muscles. Gary, But you know that's fine, you know,
one crack. So they throw you out? Yeah, did they
ask you to come back? Straight up? No, they didn't

(14:39):
ask me come by, Well the one place don't shut down?

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Did did they ask you to leave the restaurant? Yes? Yeah?
Is that the Yeah?

Speaker 7 (14:50):
Yeah, you know, and I met a lot of fans down,
you know, fans of the show.

Speaker 2 (14:56):
Did they see you act up? Well?

Speaker 7 (14:59):
One of them, Gwen said, you heard one of them
say that sounds like the guys on the Rick Burgery Show.

Speaker 5 (15:05):
Thanks a lot, Gary, Now what kind of you know,
what kind of image that cast on the show?

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Well, I can't have it. I ain't gonna get nobody
run over me. You know, Gwen was with you. Did
you embarrass her?

Speaker 7 (15:17):
You know she's been embarrassed a lot worse than that.

Speaker 2 (15:22):
Uh So when they told you to leave, were you
loud about it? Or did you just get up and go?

Speaker 7 (15:27):
Well, they wasn't three or four people in there, It
was about five thirty.

Speaker 5 (15:32):
Did you did did you say the oysters are too
small and that's what?

Speaker 14 (15:37):
Did it?

Speaker 2 (15:38):
Or did it with something else on top of that?
Did you make it? Did you did you bring their
attention to the tiny oysters?

Speaker 15 (15:45):
Uh?

Speaker 7 (15:46):
Yeah, I think so.

Speaker 5 (15:47):
I can't get four of these on the cracker?

Speaker 2 (15:49):
What is this?

Speaker 7 (15:51):
Well, when when you waitress pulls you fork off of
the table and it hits the floor and then picks
it up and puts it on.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
Are you adding that? No? I said, well, you know,
I'll be glad to leave.

Speaker 5 (16:07):
Did you so just the oyster's got you asked to leave?
Or did something happen beyond that?

Speaker 16 (16:14):
Now?

Speaker 7 (16:15):
It was pretty much that.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
Pretty much that. Were you dressed up like you are now?

Speaker 5 (16:19):
Or was it yeah, we're looking sharp? Were you shining
like new money?

Speaker 9 (16:22):
Yeah?

Speaker 7 (16:22):
I had my Sunday shirt on.

Speaker 2 (16:27):
I love everything about this, right, So let's talk about
Sunday shirt. I'm already his wife is with We call

Speaker 2 (16:45):
Yeah, let's go. So.

Speaker 5 (16:47):
Uh so you ain't got the feel you think? You
think that we need to be quieter going in. Oh yeah,
and and you don't think.

Speaker 7 (16:55):
Well, actually, like when you went turkey hunt women down
there you stepping on over limb, you can find.

Speaker 2 (17:01):
They didn't step over nothing.

Speaker 5 (17:03):
What can't hear? They can only see. I don't know
we had to be quiet. I thought we just was
supposed to be seen. Who said it couldn't hear Huh,
I thought they were hearing. Wasn't The problem I thought
was their sight. No, I will say this. Y'all were
coming to pick me up one time, and it was
it was at night. So I'm standing there in the
dark looking for him because I thought he would come

(17:24):
jumping out trying to scare you. And so I'm sitting
there and and I could hear you guys laughing and
cutting up. And I don't know how far you what
I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (17:34):
And I thought to myself, Wow, we're loud, yeah, and
everything is still, you know, and he's just so quiet.

Speaker 7 (17:44):
Yeah, sound like he's driving a day nine through the woods.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Were you the one that told me to buy that? Well?

Speaker 7 (17:53):
To ask to work on that? Ain't to hunt on?

Speaker 2 (17:56):
How am I good? Get her back and drop them off?

Speaker 7 (17:58):

doesn't want to shooting houses either. You want you don't?
You don't even like you're sitting in shooting now? Now?

Speaker 7 (18:06):

Speaker 7 (18:10):

can't hear deer growing just can't smell them, can't smell them.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
So what do you do? You're getting a double ladder
or something?

Speaker 15 (18:19):
What do you know?

Speaker 7 (18:20):
I sat down by. I find me a good tree
setting by.

Speaker 2 (18:22):
So you want us to go out and sit a
tree all day? If you follow me around, I'll tell
you how to kill a deer. I've killed a few.

your way, we would leave all vehicles at camp house.
We would go to the barn. We would walk to
where we're hunting. We would get not get in the
shooting house. We would not get in in the stand.
We would sit up against a tree for every hunt.

(21:39):
And we wouldn't we wouldn't we wouldn't talk, and we
wouldn't laugh, and we wouldn't text. And Adler can't work
on his work on his iPad. Yeah, is that pretty.

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Much what you want? That much? Could we ride a
little in? I mean, can we get a little Where
can we go?

Speaker 5 (21:54):
My goodness?

Speaker 2 (21:55):
I mean, you.

Speaker 7 (21:58):
Know a third double phone pole?

Speaker 2 (21:59):
How about red Gate where the red you ride it
to the red Gate and didn't get on? What about
where is that where the tiwerf?

Speaker 5 (22:05):
What about what about the Yeah, it's almost, Yeah, I
thought so.

Speaker 2 (22:10):
He didn't want us going in the woods though.

Speaker 5 (22:12):
He was standing in the past trying to get okay
and stopping where the walk where the pump is, it
goes to the pond.

Speaker 2 (22:16):
Got stop there, that's where he wants us. Yeah, what
if we.

Speaker 4 (22:19):
All rode electric bikes together?

Speaker 5 (22:22):
How do you like this new trend where people are
putting camo on and riding e box into the woods?

Speaker 2 (22:28):
It is hunting the bikes. You see the wheels, big
old fat wheel, his face. Don't make a noise, not
one sound. No, you gotta be quiet. No, that's what
the bike. The bikes you just you just have a
side beside. It was rechargeable.

Speaker 5 (22:45):
Garrett's the biggest mistake people make when they're hunting deer.

Speaker 2 (22:50):
The biggest mistake, Well, they try too hard.

Speaker 5 (22:53):
What do you mean, you know.

Speaker 2 (22:58):
Too hard? Wisdom.

Speaker 5 (23:02):
Hey, welcome to Gary Bends Outdoors today. I want to
talk about one of the biggest problems people have got
there hunt. Let me tell you why some of you
you're not not getting anything. You're trying to What does
that mean?

Speaker 7 (23:14):
No, I don't know. You know you got to conquer
their nose.

Speaker 2 (23:20):
Say that again.

Speaker 7 (23:21):
Conquered their nose.

Speaker 5 (23:22):
You got to conquer their nose.

Speaker 7 (23:24):
You know, maskie sin or whatever. But and play the wind.
That's the biggest thing.

Speaker 5 (23:32):
Play play the wind or play to win?

Speaker 7 (23:34):
Play the wind?

Speaker 4 (23:35):
Oh, play to win like you want to win, Like
you want to win, like you want to win.

Speaker 2 (23:39):
And you know what somebody's talking about. You said, you
said play the.

Speaker 4 (23:44):
Wind the win like when when we go like the wind?

Speaker 9 (23:50):
Wind?

Speaker 2 (23:51):
When m P are you this person?

Speaker 7 (23:57):
I want to like y'all just about like me talking
to Siri, trying to make her understand something I say.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
Does question? My dad can tell you that. Yes, oh yeah.

Speaker 7 (24:10):
In a while back, you know, my daughter told me,
I said, you don't have to text, you can just
punch that microphone, you know, and talk. I sent a
message somebody he will know what I do. And and
I told him, I said, well, I'm gonna try it.
So I punched that button. I said, I'm circling around
the block trying to find a parking place. Well I

(24:34):
look down and Syria had sent said I was going
in the circus with two suitcases. I mean, you sent
it to it, Like, what is he talking about?

Speaker 5 (24:51):
That's the fantastic Here's what I'd say to America, I
would just say do less, God bless.

Speaker 2 (24:58):
There you go? Are you going? So that is that?

Speaker 5 (25:00):
What do you mean that the least them out the
stuff we can do the better? Oh yeah, try too hard?

Speaker 9 (25:06):
Rack?

Speaker 7 (25:06):
Well you you know when you manage a piece of
property like I'm doing yours over and I mean it's uh,
you don't go in there unless you've got something to do.

Speaker 5 (25:17):
So you want me to have all this lamp, pay
taxes on it, but never go there.

Speaker 7 (25:20):
Yeah, if you don't.

Speaker 5 (25:22):
Two weeks out of here, right, So I should just
be there for a few weeks every year.

Speaker 7 (25:26):
Oh yeah, I've cut it down. I think we're gonna
hunt full times down there this year.

Speaker 2 (25:32):
That's it. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (25:34):
Now the first weekend we're gonna shoot ten twelve dose.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
Oh you're shaking his head and discuss.

Speaker 7 (25:41):
Well, if you're gonna shoot those, you need to shoot
them before they get bread.

Speaker 6 (25:46):
Why.

Speaker 5 (25:46):
Now, that's what we're trying to do. Opening day, we're
going down there. I don't we're gonna lay waste.

Speaker 7 (25:49):
I don't care. You shoot that one of them.

Speaker 5 (25:52):
Now you get you get it, don't get irritated.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
I'll be like that.

Speaker 7 (25:57):
Well, there's certain dose you need to shooting certain you
Here we go, Here we go. I mean you don't
want to you don't want to shoot all you breeders.

Speaker 5 (26:06):
No, I know that, but so tell me this. This
is the most difficult thing to me. If you start
going after the smaller ones, your button head chances go
way up.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (26:16):
And then the other thing is, how do you know
when it's the other end of the spectrum when a
dough is? Is there ever a time you see a
though that now is no longer breeding?

Speaker 2 (26:25):
Too old? Or is that? Or is that just an
old old tail?

Speaker 7 (26:32):
I've killed bucks, well, I think I've killed a book
one time at text Derman City was about eight years old.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
Here we go.

Speaker 7 (26:42):
He was a twelve point but you could tell he
was going down no teeth. I'm the female's been hitting
raight like when you see a big female. I've heard
this before, you go for the bigger dose because they're
just eating and no longer breeding.

Speaker 5 (26:56):
That that's not necessarily true.

Speaker 2 (26:58):
What about the one by yourself is blow and everything,
big old nanny dough, that's just a problem. Well by
by herself, she comes in, Just.

Speaker 7 (27:06):
Go over there and reach in there and get a
handful of that corn. She woke up here and just strangler.
You don't shoot on the field, you don't. I wouldn't
shoot any dose on the field. Tell Rick that I've
been telling you I don't like to shoot those on
the field. I've been telling them, which I had deer
hunting about five years.

Speaker 5 (27:24):
So that's not true. M hm five years. You hadn't
dere on, not one time.

Speaker 7 (27:29):
I hadn't kilded there in probably five or six years.

Speaker 5 (27:32):
You've hunted though, because I know you have.

Speaker 7 (27:34):
I went two and a half hours last year.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Okay, I'm whopping two and a half hour you got
in their hunting? Well both?

Speaker 5 (27:43):
Can I ask you a hard question? Whose whose food
plots were planning first this year?

Speaker 2 (27:47):
Aul or me?

Speaker 7 (27:49):
Yours are planning first? And then Alice was planned the
next day.

Speaker 5 (27:53):
That's a new day that's never happened for something else
that I'm sorry, I'm a little emotional that.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
Man.

Speaker 5 (27:59):
I I can't deal what that means to him. Well,
of course I had to suffer through Gary. Why it
was raining texting me over and over one you know
I will shot a planet then feels I did have
been perfect. You have to suffer through that, Yeah, you know,
just like what you call Gary's voicemail. You have to
suffer through the fact he's acting like he's answering the phone. Hello, Hello,

(28:21):
I can't I want to hear you loud.

Speaker 2 (28:25):
He got me the first time. Oh yeah, he does it.
I can't hear you, guys. Pick up. Hey, Gary, I'm
not here.

Speaker 5 (28:32):

Speaker 2 (28:34):

something monte Pillar or something like that.

Speaker 2 (43:28):
Monticello.

Speaker 5 (43:29):
Now that's that's Thomas Jefferson Monticello. But anyway, so, uh
so when when yeah, Pillier, my Pilier.

Speaker 2 (43:37):
That's it. So when you just went and.

Speaker 5 (43:39):
You so when you go there, now, Speedy, this is
you got to get ready. You gotta get ready because
here I wish I could have been with Speedy and
and and sure it went Gregort one time. I'm sure
he said, would you just rather Speedy come instead of me?

Speaker 13 (43:53):
You know?

Speaker 5 (43:53):
And I said no, I said, but.

Speaker 2 (43:54):
I can't, I can't get I wish just for just
for now, I.

Speaker 5 (43:58):
Said, you wouldn't mind, who's just here with us right now? Yeah,
so anyway, he ain't going to dinner with this what
I wanted to see. But anyway, so at American village,
we have this to a degree. By the way, I
want everybody know an American village. I let everybody know
they're in Virginia. They ain't got nothing on American village.
The fact that we're pretending we're there. I actually was there. Well,

(44:18):
but anyway, besides that, right, but you know how we
have actors that that, Greg, I've never seen any commitment
like that. They won't even let you bring them into
modern time. And if I could have been like when
I would do things like you do things like we're yeah,
we're from Birmingham, Alba. I'm not familiar with that. Are

(44:39):
you talking about? You know at the Yazoo Land Company
and and that that that land we have that we're
trying to you know, that's Georgia. And I'm not, well,
they're not gonna come out of character.

Speaker 2 (44:53):
Talk to so they're a mascot, wouldn't come out.

Speaker 5 (44:59):
You guys are gonna be one our twenty four states.
You know, we're going to continue to try to maybe
one day we can get to fifty.

Speaker 2 (45:03):
We hope.

Speaker 5 (45:04):
And I'm like, oh, when you're going, I got the answer.
We get to fifty by the way you get there.
So and because they went from let's all remember too,
I'm like, oh wait a minute, they're acting like their ghost.

Speaker 2 (45:14):
Oh and they won't come out.

Speaker 5 (45:16):
They will not come out of character the hole time,
and they have the talk going and and like Thomas
Jefferson instead of just telling me to go over where
they're doing some archaeology, had talked, behaved, he'd been discovering
like he was inventing archaeology, which apparently he played some
key role, and he did he learned about that. But
but I'm like, no, no, we already got all that,

(45:37):
yeah right here, So.

Speaker 2 (45:42):
Okay, I get it, but none of us.

Speaker 5 (45:45):
Thomas Jefferson was Thomas Jefferson, James Monroe was jameson Rowe,
James Madison was very much James Madison. And they're really
really smart, and they know a lot about our country,
and they know about the characters they are portraying. But
it went further than that. I think they ain't there them.
Oh yeah, that they're that method and and I will
just say at one point.

Speaker 2 (46:05):
So you think they take it home with him?

Speaker 5 (46:07):
I got a thing with James Madison that got a
little comfortable. He and I knew the one. It over
over something current or was it something happened back in
the seventeen hundred. I had to remind James Madison that
you know this lady's well me, what.

Speaker 2 (46:23):
Is he now?

Speaker 5 (46:24):
James Maddens, Maybe maybe he was in characters. Maybe the
real James Madison was forty back, so he's just trying
to put later or somebody was telling us says, you know,
he was the Ultimate Bachelor for forty and I went, oh, yeah,
maybe he's acting.

Speaker 4 (46:39):
That guy also plays Bill Clinton in another.

Speaker 5 (46:43):
Now that was that was the that that one you
know he is over in Arkansas, and then that one
he actually doesn't just hit on your wife. He gives
her his number.

Speaker 2 (46:51):
But hey, James, don't know what happened. Seventeen huns big guy,
But twenty five you canna be hitting them a water, right.

Speaker 5 (47:04):
I had a little research on you that I'm not
mistaken you about you about.

Speaker 4 (47:08):
Five to one ten in my mind is twenty twenty five?

Speaker 2 (47:13):
Yeah, yeah, he must not know about me.

Speaker 5 (47:15):
Hey, James Madison, I've taken dumps bigger than you.

Speaker 2 (47:17):
Oh what?

Speaker 6 (47:17):
Oh wow?

Speaker 4 (47:19):
Is that what happens?

Speaker 2 (47:20):
Is that what it got? I would have backed off
a little bit. Should you be right in the constitution?

Speaker 8 (47:24):
Right?

Speaker 2 (47:25):
Yeah, I'm pretty important to get through it.

Speaker 5 (47:27):
Yeah, once you get up in your office where you
spend a lot of time, apparently.

Speaker 2 (47:30):
I know you didn't character, but I need to know
do you understand me, bros.

Speaker 8 (47:33):
Right, you didn't go.

Speaker 2 (47:34):
You gotta go find Dolly who let me back?

Speaker 5 (47:43):
Morning come right after this.

Speaker 1 (47:46):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, the man who could

(48:10):
fix the entire commercial airline industry if they would only
give him a shot.

Speaker 5 (48:16):
Rick Bridges, hope everybody's all right. Starting a brand new week,
and we have so much to cover from the weekend. Obviously,
if you're someone something that I was talking to some
of our founding fathers about just this past weekend in

(48:37):
Virginia is apparently they're still alive and well and walking
across James Madison's property. But anyway, so US tax Shield,
US tax shield right now, if you have an outstanding
balance with the irs, that is not a fun feeling.
Nobody likes that feeling. That's horrible. Maybe hadn't filed in

(49:00):
a while, meant to get around to it. Now the
black cloud is hanging over you and you know you
are in the crosshairs of the world's largest collection agency.
Doesn't that feel good? But why don't we get that resolve?

Speaker 2 (49:12):
Now?

Speaker 5 (49:13):
You're gonna need an advocate, and that's our friends at
US tax Shield. Better Business Bureau gives them an A
plus something that Greg you and I rarely saw in
the report.

Speaker 2 (49:23):
It's up in.

Speaker 5 (49:23):
Athletics pe pe Us tax shield. So why don't you
contact them. There's no obligation to use them. They'll they'll
talk to you. They'll say, hey, hear some programs you
may qualify for and you may be able to go
ahead and get this resolved with the lowest payment possible
with the IRS, because they want to resolve it too. Now,
if you keep on running, they're gonna garnish wages, They're

(49:46):
gonna sell off property, and they may.

Speaker 2 (49:48):
Put you your we're end in jail. Now.

Speaker 5 (49:50):
You don't want taking. You don't want that, do not.
So call them at one eight hundred and seven six
nine seven three four zero.

Speaker 2 (49:57):
Let's get this done.

Speaker 5 (49:59):
The phone number also Rick burgesshow dot com under sponsors. Okay,
so we'll we'll work back through trip to Virginia. Just
a few highlights from that coming up, Virginia meet Virginia.
So a couple of other things to obviously discuss. You
had some football action over the weekend. As far as
college football, I didn't see any of it.

Speaker 2 (50:21):
I saw just.

Speaker 5 (50:22):
A little bit of NFL last night Sunday night football,
not a lot didn't stay with it. Uh, so I'm
not gonna be much help to us on football. You
guys will have to kind of update me. I don't
know what happened. I know that there was a few
I saw something where in the SEC conference the SEC

(50:44):
officials put out an official statement that they did not
make a call they should have made. Of course, I
don't know what good that does now, but.

Speaker 2 (50:54):
I make it hurt worse, thank you.

Speaker 5 (50:58):
Yes, yeah, yeah, Oklahoma scored on an illegal play that
everybody agreed and the off season was illegal, but then
when someone actually ran it, the officials decided they forgot
all those meetings.

Speaker 2 (51:10):
Yeah that happened.

Speaker 5 (51:11):
Yeah, sure, you know y'all were the one lecturing as
about it. That pretty much kind of your thing.

Speaker 2 (51:16):
That's your thing.

Speaker 5 (51:17):
Yeah you should know that y'all lectured us about it
then didn't call it. So so anyway, were.

Speaker 2 (51:23):
There were miscalls in college and the NFL. And I
know nobody's perfect. I got that, but wow, there some
it was some big moments.

Speaker 5 (51:32):
Well, the key plays, Yeah, I think that the thing
that keeps perplexing us. And I'm not talking about that
play because again, all I saw is what's been posted
by the SEC, not by fans. Just be careful when
fans post things. Yeah, but by the SEC. The thing
I don't get are things like in the NFL and
another call that was from another game I saw over
the weekend. I don't understand that when when we were told,

(51:55):
that's the part that bothers me. I'm okay if you
didn't tell me this, but if see if I have
this right, see if I remember this right on instant replay,
at any level, the call on the field has standing.
It it has more power than the call they didn't call.

Speaker 2 (52:12):
Undisputable evidence? Has you got ahead of me? But that's
where I was sorry?

Speaker 5 (52:18):
Did I have it right that if the call on
the field, it has prominence and there must be indisputable
evidence on the replay to overturn it or it stands.

Speaker 2 (52:30):
Did I have that right?

Speaker 5 (52:31):
But yet I see plays that the call on the
field still looks right, and I see no indisputable evidence
to overturn it, and they overturn it.

Speaker 2 (52:40):
So I can't follow it. Yeah, I don't. I can't
follow it.

Speaker 5 (52:44):
Yeah, it's of course Arkansas wishes that would have happened
to them. They actually reviewed it and went, oh you
did fumble.

Speaker 2 (52:49):
Yeah right, yes, right, so in all games right there.

Speaker 5 (52:53):
Yes see, I didn't know anything going on. A lot
of it just comes from thank you so much, you know,
all of you out there that follow what we do,
and so you'll start peppering me with things that I
have no reference point for. So like I got just
one out of Arkansas. You know, hey, looks like our
coaches out of here, and word on the street, he's gone.
I said, well, I guess things were Arkansas didn't go well. No,

(53:16):
we had two real close losses back to back. I
think they fumbled last week against ho miss on the
drive and at the end, and then this one that
looked like they were they had the first down and
could run the clock down and either kick a that
would to be a pat short field goal and win
the game, and he fumbled.

Speaker 2 (53:33):
They fumbled, But then they had another chance. They they
fumbled and then got the ball back and they got
the field goal got blocked. Yeah, I mean, you know
the game is over if they don't fumble. No, I agree,
I agree, But they also had the feel goal to
win it and got blocked. Not in sad part. So
unless I'm I'm black, no, I know you probably remember

(53:53):
I was in and out.

Speaker 5 (53:54):
We actually celebrated Lisa's birthday with the grandkids. Her birthday
is not till Thursday, so that the games were on
in the back ground, so I was just trying to
kind of keep up. Yeah, I'm always confused because I
know how Lisa loves that September song from Earth Winding
Fire on that last night, and it always makes me
think that her birthdays on the twenty first. Yeah, she
changes the lyrics to twenty fifth. Okay, that's the part

(54:15):
always throws me. And last night there was a tribute
to earth Winding Fire from Live from the Hollywood.

Speaker 2 (54:20):
Well right, yeah, it was really good. Oh wow.

Speaker 5 (54:23):
But but yeah, Sherry, now we're in a panic in
Arkansas because I was like, I got up and I said,
is it twenty first? And I said, I think it's
Lisa's birthday. And then Cherry started panicking getting her phone
up and all that we were, and I was like,
you know, because twenty first day September, and then is like,
now it's the twenty fifth. But I but I'm glad
y'all got the celebration and with all four grand kids.

Speaker 2 (54:43):
Yes, but that was a party.

Speaker 5 (54:45):
It is it always says they're funny. They just they
sit in there at that table when they're pretending they
actually may eat and just listen to their conversations amongst themselves.

Speaker 2 (54:54):
So they eat it all.

Speaker 5 (54:56):
Yeah, the little little Mary Hawsele eat Okay, everybody else didn't,
got it.

Speaker 2 (55:00):
She's still tearing up some chicken fingers. That's fun. And
and and you're right, there were so many field goal blocks.
I had the wrong game. The fumble did is what
beat Arkansas. So you were right. There was so many
field goal blocks. Okay, so it fell alone. There was
like three.

Speaker 5 (55:13):
It sounds like to me, y'all didn't see any more
football than I did. No, Arkansas had three timeouts, used them,
but gave it first down.

Speaker 2 (55:20):
They could have got the ball that, yeah, but they made.
Then the Memphis made. That's right. That the Memphis quarterback
like drug the Arkansas defensive lineman. And that was the first.
That was it.

Speaker 5 (55:30):
How about this This is my like when you're on
a little romantic getaway, you got to pretend like you
don't care about football while trying to check on it.
And so one time, surey, we just went to get
ready for us to go out to eat whatever she comes,
She goes, what are you doing? I said nothing. She goes,
what what are you doing on your phone over there?
I said, word on the street at Pittmans, taking his
cob beer and leaving Faeville, and she and then look

(55:53):
and then she goes. She goes, Okay, what else? I said,
Apparently Auburn got some really bad call. Okay, what else
Dabo Sweeney's crime. So I'm gonna do. I'm just by this.
I think Arkansas lost, Auburn lost, and I think Clemson loss.

Speaker 2 (56:05):
Yeah, just just that. That's great.

Speaker 5 (56:09):
I will tell you I watched some of the Clemson
uh Syracuse Syracuse pretty good and their coach you gotta
love him.

Speaker 2 (56:15):
Yeah, the one that made un sprint yeaheah yeah.

Speaker 5 (56:18):
Any modern coach that makes a current bunch of spoiled
brats run sprints, uh huh. After not playing well after
the game in the stadium, I'm all about one of
his players got a tawning penalty and a key situation.

Speaker 2 (56:30):
And he ripped that kid. He was waiting on him
if he came to the sidelines, but he let that kild
probably getting transfer a portal. But he was pretty good
football team. Yeah, yeah, they are and you know I
was watching UH. I did pay attention to the Oklahoma
Auburn game and there was some two pass interference calls
that that just jump out. One the guy was just

(56:52):
hugging all over him and the the UH referee was
trying to get out of the way, had his back
turned to the place and didn't see it. That's why
you have help. And then the other one was Missouri
South Carolina. That was a good game. Yeah, it was
real good. Those were three really good games. The coach
of Missouri's a hot item right now. You hear jobs
I got a good football team. Yeah, well you can

(57:13):
run at Canton. Yeah, all right, we'll be back.

Speaker 5 (57:16):
So there's kind of us you know, more about probably
what happened this weekend football wise than we do, but
plenty to cover, including the Charlie Kirk memorial service and
all that.

Speaker 1 (57:27):
Still, this is the Rick Burgers Show. We talked to
the public every day and trust us, you should be
gravely concerned. The Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 5 (57:45):
All right, So we'll get into more updates from the
weekend coming up a little bit later, and we will
talk about the memorial memorial service last night. Charlie Kirk
we'll hit some of that addlers gathering those highlights for us,
so we'll put those together a little later on in
the program as well. So some things to be aware of.

(58:05):
So coming up this week, excited to be headed. You know,
it's odd that I spent this past weekend in Orange, Virginia.
In this weekend, I'm going to Orange, Texas.

Speaker 2 (58:19):
How weird next.

Speaker 5 (58:20):
Week so we're going to see Syracuse the Orange Play
and then after that Tennessee and then is and dreg Orange.
So in that weird what's the odds of that? I
didn't Yeah, But anyway, so looking forward to this weekend.
It is a man church one day, first Baptist Church, Orange, Texas.
Rich Wingo and Andy Blanks. I'm so honored to be

(58:41):
going with them, all three of us get a chance
to speak. It's a little man church. One day starts
to day in the morning. We'll be done by lunch.

Speaker 15 (58:47):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (58:48):
So we'll get you, you.

Speaker 5 (58:49):
Guys back home at a good at a good time
and hopefully you'll make plans to be with us. What
we're saying now, with all the things that are going on,
and some of this was mentioned even by Charlie Kirk's
widow last night. The importance of men taking our proper
role under the authority of Christ. You know, this is
something we've been talking about a lot in the last

(59:09):
five years. We've actually been you know, putting together a
strategy to do those things. And so these gatherings we're
kind of saying now more than ever. So hopefully you'll
make plans to be with us in Texas coming up
on Saturday. But there are other opportunities coming and you
can find all those at Theman Church dot com under events.
Go find one near you. So a couple of hay

(59:29):
burges here.

Speaker 24 (59:36):
We're turning it loud, show up the answer emails stacks.

Speaker 5 (59:45):
On the time still somebody say, hey BRD, somebody say,
what's the words?

Speaker 13 (59:51):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (59:51):
So here it is hay bird, Hey birde.

Speaker 5 (59:53):
And these kind of emails on me because they are
just short and to the point, and they give us
something to ponder. Since Rosie O'Donnell left the US, there
have been no more bigfoot sightings.

Speaker 25 (01:00:08):
That's good, I will say. Never we used to get
like I would have thought of that. You should get
one every two months, not one. Wow, what a great
simple email. Yeah, just to the point. Oh, that's good.

Speaker 2 (01:00:29):
And that's so good.

Speaker 5 (01:00:30):
Well done, by the way, done, and this is going
to own you and speedy. Hey birds, hey birds, I
can sense it. I I'm hearing the teases that in
twenty twenty six, mister Lucky's coming back. I don't know
who knows, who knows that there is talk about it.
Can I make one request for the show and I
will be getting my tickets the tubers and social media

(01:00:55):
people and everyone else that loves this show. Can y'all
please add to the set list the Wreck of the
Edmond Fitzgerald and Greg and Greg must see lead vocals
on that one.

Speaker 2 (01:01:13):
I want you to venture from the base. Yes, I
love that guitar run acalling.

Speaker 5 (01:01:34):
So you know what that Jeremy, We'll we'll look into that.
We'll see how that goes over and rehearsal.

Speaker 2 (01:01:43):
They can't get you.

Speaker 4 (01:01:46):
It's real, it is real.

Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
Yeah all right, I saw I saw the whole documentary
on Yeah sure.

Speaker 5 (01:01:53):
Okay, uh hey Marge, hey Burge. First off, I like that.
I like these heads up. First off, BIP alert ohe
who knows I know I'm a BIP Sorry about that.
I'm a podcast listener. I'm currently in July. As don't
let that go by.

Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
I don't understand the mindset. How can you be in
July and still be here.

Speaker 5 (01:02:15):
I'm a podcast listener and I'm currently in July.

Speaker 2 (01:02:19):
How did you get Look, I'm as glad. We had
one of those in the in the Vox seats the
other day. They said, if, if, unless it's a big
current event, I will go forward listen to that, like
what happened with Charlie Kirk. I went for it and
listened to that and then went back to where I was.
Was okay. So he says, huge bip. I know. He
said huge bip.

Speaker 5 (01:02:36):
I know because he means he's about to talk to
something that we we've left, we've gone on. Okay, So
he says, please forgive me for this. I worked for
a hospital, and I refuse to miss an hour of
the show, so I just listened when I can. However,
your hospital is pretty important. It is hospital. You might
won't pay attend to hospital. You know what, The people

(01:02:57):
that you were doing surgery own were thankful that you
made the right choice. Okay, he said, I know y'all
already talked about this. However, I want you to know
I did order some of the chocolate honey from the
East Boga Honey Company, and hey, it's number one. Okay,
we got it at home and lived. My question is
what's the best way that you found to eat it?

Speaker 18 (01:03:17):
So far?

Speaker 5 (01:03:18):
My favorite is on peanut butter on a peanut butter
sandwich with a banana.

Speaker 2 (01:03:21):
Added to the peanut butter. Nice. All right, that's too
great taste.

Speaker 5 (01:03:25):
How got you put your peanut butter there, cut your
bananas on top, drizzled the bananas with it.

Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
Woo not bad.

Speaker 5 (01:03:31):
I don't I usal don't like combining sweets with peanut butter,
but I'm okay. Also, I'm in July. So also a
happy late birthday to the little baby brother Greg. Hey,
oh wow, you behind. I'm sure Greg would love the choco.
Time for my next birthdays? Greg, ever, put a chocolate
honey on a fritter? Oh, I would try it, especially

(01:03:52):
more Christia hedge Ones. I'm trying to figure out if
you would it ever be bad on anything? I'm sitting
spaghetti Okay, okay, so I don't know. I got some
problems right now. Let me look at the I'm talking
about live. Let's go live, live Live. Can I sell
trainer sean that honey is good for me.

Speaker 2 (01:04:11):
It is good for chocolate.

Speaker 5 (01:04:13):
Honey, it's got co it's cocoa infused honey, that's all
it is. Yes, it's local honey local. Yeah, it's good
for your allergies. So I will tell you. But this
is the problem. And I don't live they and I
don't do this very often, very very rare. And in

(01:04:33):
modern day do I have ice cream?

Speaker 1 (01:04:35):
Very rare.

Speaker 5 (01:04:36):
I love ice cream. But now I'm becoming the world's
most interesting man. But when I do, I now have
started to put coconut infused honey over it. My goodness,
coconut coke. I'm sorry, cocoa infused. I'm sorry, not panic.
I'm trying. I'm sure there is some coconut too. Also

(01:04:57):
another one, and this one I think shann will be
okay with uh person who's still stuck it? Because when
are you gonna hear us enter it?

Speaker 2 (01:05:04):
Well?

Speaker 5 (01:05:04):
But by the time we answer this year, this guy's
three months behind there thwiving. But take a protein waffle.
You know those waffles you get there are protein waffles.
I tried to avoid that, but you.

Speaker 2 (01:05:14):
Put you a little gee on it or some.

Speaker 5 (01:05:16):
Butter who is over there, and then I got we
got ge, I'm getting there, and then put the the
coke coca infused honey over that waffle.

Speaker 2 (01:05:30):
I'm sure it's good. It's just the way. It's just
from you.

Speaker 5 (01:05:37):
Yeah, I got my gee and uh yeah, we're just
have an all Star breakfast.

Speaker 2 (01:05:42):
My shirt Friday paint off? Well good?

Speaker 5 (01:05:44):
Oh back to the uh so anyway, uh so there
you go. So forgot about that shirt? Yeah, well I
didn't because I was pummeled about it all weekend by
various people in the audience. So the one I think
that we overlook that was a good one. The shirt
looks like somebody sneezed on you and you now have
the COVID virs all of your shirt.

Speaker 2 (01:06:05):
That is fun.

Speaker 4 (01:06:07):
Hey did you guys see uh somebody sent a new shirt?

Speaker 5 (01:06:12):
Yes, yes, merch have you seen this made this? By
the way, I think we should. Oh my, I think
I think we should. I sent that on to merch.

Speaker 2 (01:06:19):
That's a good shirt.

Speaker 5 (01:06:20):
That's that you would wear that shirt. No, the fans
of the show would. Yeah, but I picture Speedy.

Speaker 2 (01:06:27):
In I cared tee you Ryche Wilbourne would yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:06:29):
Yeah, those just can't see it. It's your classic Tommy
Bahama button down and the decorations on it are the
face logo that you can I'm not sure if.

Speaker 2 (01:06:40):
You were going to an event, which event you would
wear that too.

Speaker 12 (01:06:44):
The faces need to be smaller, so you get like,
you get closer and you're like, what is that always
a face?

Speaker 4 (01:06:50):
You think it needs to.

Speaker 2 (01:06:50):
Be need to be bigger. Let me tell you.

Speaker 5 (01:06:54):
Picture, Well, how wear would it be if I wore
Everybody kept look at my face and looking at that.
But we have something coming out for a hunting season
that that may include that in the cameo pattern.

Speaker 2 (01:07:07):
Which is funny.

Speaker 5 (01:07:08):
Funny say somebody said I'd absolutely wear that shirt. I've
set it on the merchant, I've sent it on. So
thank you for the emails. Yea, they said, they said,
either Greg or Gary sing the record the emund fish

(01:07:30):
Gerald when they come down to me, cho is.

Speaker 1 (01:07:34):
The Rick Burgess show. God fearing and America loving though

(01:08:00):
but show.

Speaker 2 (01:08:04):
All right, we're back. Thanks you for being with us, America.
We got a lot to do today. You can imagine
starting a brand new week.

Speaker 5 (01:08:10):
Thanks you for being with us. I don't know somebody
with a good one. Hey, y'all just try to be
nice to Bip who emailed somebody emailing back and say
you y'll answer his question.

Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
Today's we'll go here. Yeah, that's a good idea. That's
a good idea.

Speaker 5 (01:08:24):
And by the way, this cartoon that just was sent
to us about Texas and arch Manning, it has slayd us.

Speaker 2 (01:08:31):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:08:32):
Good, not saying it should, but it did.

Speaker 2 (01:08:35):
It did, all right.

Speaker 5 (01:08:36):
So I didn't know this. You know, we being Southerners,
you know, we get a lot of flak. Sherry and
I being from Alabama in Virginia this past weekend, we
became kind of like local folklore.

Speaker 2 (01:08:48):
We understand you.

Speaker 5 (01:08:49):
The two from Alabama, Yes we are so so anyway.

Speaker 2 (01:08:53):
When they got in a fight with James Madison, Yeah,
James Garrett, are you the one that pushed James Manson?

Speaker 5 (01:08:59):
But but the uh but the yeah, it was like
they couldn't believe we were there. Okay, So to y'all, hear, okay, good,
yeah you're staying over so okay, good? Where y'all from Alabama?

Speaker 2 (01:09:10):
What you know?

Speaker 5 (01:09:11):
Because most people were at least, you know, a couple
hours away or something like that. So so, you know,
we had a great time. We'll talk more about that
coming up. But you know, we catch a lot of
flat you know, a lot of Southern stereotypes.

Speaker 2 (01:09:23):
I can't believe that.

Speaker 5 (01:09:24):
And uh, you know one of the things we've noticed,
you Northerners don't have a lot to y'all got your
own problems. Uh tell me what stake, Crispy, do you
know this because you put the you put the story out.
I'll ask Adler and Greg what state do you think
on October first? Well, finally ban marriage with first cousins,

(01:09:46):
not second finally, finally just now doing it October twenty.

Speaker 4 (01:09:51):
Five, Mississippi.

Speaker 5 (01:09:52):
Sorry speedy, No, see see there, That's exactly what I'm
talking about.

Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
I'm gonna go. I'm gonna try it.

Speaker 5 (01:09:57):
Since this officer, it must not be an obvious one.
I'm want to say, Delaware, you know what, not a
bad guess.

Speaker 2 (01:10:02):
Connecticut.

Speaker 5 (01:10:04):
Wow, Connecticut my second guest Connecticut by some people.

Speaker 4 (01:10:09):
I know some people. Connecticut my second guess.

Speaker 5 (01:10:13):
By the way, Bob carry our syndicator, is from Connecticut.
And he will hear from me. He will hear from Connecticut.
Has finally stepped up Connecticut that you would have it said,
I wouldn't believe all the people rushing to get married
before the first Connecticut hur because especially especially if your

(01:10:33):
first cousin is fine. But I mean, but the so
state law had already banned people from marrying a parent.
That's good that. By the way, I know it's not blood.
We had and we had a story last week. I
know it's not blood can and I'm sorry if you're
a step parent, come on now, I mean, don't hook

(01:10:55):
up one of you step kids. Well, no, we do,
and we seen that and I know it. I know
it's but that's not a good line. You've taken on
a parental role.

Speaker 2 (01:11:05):
Yeah, okay, that story we had years ago.

Speaker 5 (01:11:08):
Well, we had one last week. You had one there
last week. It was so it was so bad I
couldn't even I couldn't even do the store.

Speaker 2 (01:11:13):
Man and lady fell in love with each other and
they didn't know they were brother and sumber. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:11:18):
Yeah, you had one last week about a step I'm
going bad.

Speaker 2 (01:11:20):
Oh yeah, oh yeah, I remember that. It was got
caught in a good our husband like grace.

Speaker 5 (01:11:27):
You talked about a mind trip that will haunt you
the rest of you.

Speaker 2 (01:11:31):
Good not who is that?

Speaker 5 (01:11:33):
Oh my gosh, daddy, Oh my gosh, we're casting.

Speaker 2 (01:11:38):
We're busted. Who said that sounds like my kid? Okay, so.

Speaker 5 (01:11:43):
Hey, you know what, I think it's one of those
things you sitting down with the counselor and he just says,
I'm sorry. I don't think it was either. Yeah, I'm sorry,
you're too far. There's too traumatizing.

Speaker 26 (01:11:52):
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (01:11:54):
Giving you money about this. I just take your money.
I can't get you. I can't think.

Speaker 5 (01:11:59):
So anyway, Uh so parent, grandparent, which is my guys
put any world, sibling and child. They overlook first cousin,
and so they're going to they're gonna make it right. Yes,
they're gonna they're going to make it, make it. They're
gonna finally going to say that pro creation between first

(01:12:20):
cousins can increase the chance of birth effects. Yes it can.
If you don't believe that, just watch some of these documentaries. Yeah.
But anyway, oh boy, So anyway they are finally going
to ban it.

Speaker 2 (01:12:32):
Well, thank goodness. Connecticut.

Speaker 5 (01:12:33):
And I see every added with his little joke in there.
Thought it was Mississippi. People to West Virginia, Alabama, you know,
and so Tennessee and the Hills. No, it's Connecticut. I'll
never guess that Connectic So Connecticut, you Connecticut people. They're
so full of yourself. They advanced, y'all still marying first cousins,
not anymore. Not you better go get you better marry

(01:12:57):
him or heard soon you got to the first October one,
it's over. If you look, there's just a line up
at the courthouf.

Speaker 2 (01:13:04):
You do you think about all the people in the world,
and you picked your first cousin. I mean, there's so
many people out there, A lot of people, yeah, a
lot of people. And there are a lot of people
just in your town town you live in. Get out
a little bit, you don't know. Look look beyond your yard, guys,
there's something walk past the mailbox every now and then.

Speaker 5 (01:13:34):
Every time we put that every time we put that
tent up for family reunion. There's other places to fish.
COVID is over, get out right, but.

Speaker 2 (01:13:42):
But no, it's not over.

Speaker 5 (01:13:43):
But but some towns, well, some towns it's called being sick.
Some towns, though, I mean to try to get away
from cousins. I mean, some people got a lot of cousins.
I mean, you know, like Sherry's parents on both sides.
I think her mama had like ten siblings, and my
dad had like her dad. Her dad had like eleven siblings.

(01:14:06):
Do you realize how many cousins? I know, I mean
it it's completely out of hand, I mean accidentally, especially
you get off in the third first removed and all, am,
well they don't count.

Speaker 2 (01:14:16):
They know what we can do about that? I mean,
you can't. Let's just stay.

Speaker 5 (01:14:18):
Let's just stay with first cousins, maybe so lest they're
adopted and they're still in play.

Speaker 2 (01:14:22):
Yeah, but did you know what you're gonna have to do.
You can have to see birthsertificated on your first date.
Could you show me yours?

Speaker 5 (01:14:27):
You have your family tree available right, well, you might
want Look, we've had some speedy said, we've had some
bad stories. We have, I mean some I can't imagine.
I mean people that like, hey we just didn't know.

Speaker 2 (01:14:39):
That one among the brothers and sister really got me.

Speaker 5 (01:14:41):
Well, the thing you got to watch out for it
if if you did that way back. But what you
have to watch out for if you had a daddy
that was you know, wherever he laid his hat was
his home. Oh yeah, you know when he got and
all he lefts was alone. You don't know what he's
been doing out there.

Speaker 9 (01:14:56):
Now.

Speaker 2 (01:14:56):
You remember the terrible story was Terrell owens to.

Speaker 5 (01:15:00):
And he told it so I'm not his book or
whatever that he was interested in young lady and his
dad calling to the side and said, no, you can't,
you can't be interested.

Speaker 2 (01:15:08):
Oh I forgot about that. That's your sister, easy. I mean,
nobody knew it, but his dad knew it. His dad
knew it. Yeah, that about rolling Stone at hey, how
about that? That's why step up me? Good? Been your
life at all? But let me give you some advice
about this girl across. Hey.

Speaker 4 (01:15:26):
Hey, that's called dad stuff.

Speaker 5 (01:15:28):
That's right, So I unders time for us to have
a little man man. By the way, somebody says in Alabama,
cousins are strictly for practice. Okay, that's terrible.

Speaker 2 (01:15:43):
Well you teach me how to get it's terrible. That's awful, terrible.

Speaker 8 (01:15:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:15:49):
And then and then there's Jels, but we won't get
into it.

Speaker 5 (01:15:52):
She was adopted. She wasn't even the same ethnicity. Okay,
that doesn't count.

Speaker 2 (01:15:59):
She was adopted.

Speaker 5 (01:16:00):
Did that helps Polynesian.

Speaker 4 (01:16:04):
And made it more exotic?

Speaker 5 (01:16:05):
You know, Look, what can you do when you're young
and dumb and you stuck down to the river all week.
So Polynesians don't talk like Asians.

Speaker 2 (01:16:20):
Okay, why we're going to boat house?

Speaker 5 (01:16:22):
No, no, adopted, adopted, adopted.

Speaker 2 (01:16:27):
I just want to set you though, didn't Greg?

Speaker 5 (01:16:30):
Oh, I tell you him reason He's up saying that's
what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
Somebody got blocked out for a rebound. No way. Hey, words,
if i'd been game, you the lost.

Speaker 5 (01:16:48):
I remember Greg kept saying I played football too.

Speaker 2 (01:16:51):
Uh So, okay, all right, that's are lying. Okay, sever
were cousins.

Speaker 5 (01:17:03):
That's not how Polynesian people talk, by the.

Speaker 2 (01:17:05):
Way, that's not.

Speaker 5 (01:17:09):
She always had fresh pine apples.

Speaker 2 (01:17:12):
So we'll be back some of the album.

Speaker 5 (01:17:15):
Where's grea.

Speaker 1 (01:17:20):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. You better listen up.

Speaker 5 (01:17:39):
You know, like we say, you gotta find.

Speaker 1 (01:17:50):
The voice of reason in an unreasonable world. The Rick
Burchers Show.

Speaker 2 (01:17:55):
All right, America, thank you for being with us today.

Speaker 5 (01:17:58):
The gang all here, Speedy Gregg Addler, and we moved forward.

Speaker 4 (01:18:07):
We will look back.

Speaker 5 (01:18:08):
On the memorial service last night for Charlie Kirk that's
coming out next I as we'll walk through some of
the highlights of.

Speaker 2 (01:18:15):
That with you on screen.

Speaker 5 (01:18:17):
Phone calls still to come and some more hate birds
as well. As we move forward, you know, I think
probably my best shot here will probably be Adler. Have
y'all ever stayed in the bed and breakfast.

Speaker 2 (01:18:35):
Kind of scared of it?

Speaker 5 (01:18:36):
Yeahler are either they're haunted.

Speaker 12 (01:18:38):
Yeah, but actually probably more so.

Speaker 4 (01:18:42):
When I was a kid with my parents growing.

Speaker 5 (01:18:44):
Up, they were they big on a bed and breakfast.

Speaker 12 (01:18:47):
I do now I do air bed and breakfast Airbnb,
but those aren't real bread and breakfast.

Speaker 5 (01:18:52):
Ask you this does that count?

Speaker 4 (01:18:53):
What it doesn't count?

Speaker 2 (01:18:55):
So? Is this like an old house and y'all have
a room and everybody's got a different and you walk out?

Speaker 5 (01:19:02):
I was not mentally prepared for it, okay, because I,
in my mind you down to breakboy's house.

Speaker 4 (01:19:07):
I don't like that format. I don't like that format
in my mind.

Speaker 5 (01:19:11):
Super nice people, But in my mind I kept picturing
places that we normally. I couldn't get hotel out of
my mind. I couldn't get it. I couldn't get an
inn out of my mind. And so I just wasn't.
I wasn't mentally prepared. You chose somebody's house because at
one time, at one time we were driving alone, and
I said, sure were we staying at an inn or
a bed and breakfast. She goes, no, I think it's

(01:19:32):
just an inn. I said, I'm pretty sure you said
bed and breakfast. And so we go to pull sit
around table with a bunch of strangers. And so we
go to pull in and there's the sign. I said,
it clearly says bed and breakfast. And we come pulling
up to.

Speaker 2 (01:19:45):
This really really, really really.

Speaker 5 (01:19:47):
Old house that James Madison, the author of the Constitution.

Speaker 2 (01:19:52):
Country's got a lot of ghosts, and it was.

Speaker 5 (01:19:54):
And the first thing I think of Greg is my gosh,
strange encounters. This is when they come to get yes out.
Adler and I have stirred up something. I bet there
were about three old man.

Speaker 2 (01:20:03):
Oh that looks yeah, that's on the cover of a
haunted house.

Speaker 12 (01:20:06):
That's Amityville, right, you're staying in Amityville, Transylvania.

Speaker 2 (01:20:10):
My goodness, revolutionary soldiers. You just can't see him. Yes,
so you know that look.

Speaker 5 (01:20:16):
I tend to when I go vacation, I tend to
go you're staying with something, I tend to go first class.
I want first class everything. Okay, so it's a cool.
So my first thing is when I pull up I
realized nobody's coming to get the luggage, and all right,
I'm like, you.

Speaker 4 (01:20:32):
Can't what what are you talking?

Speaker 2 (01:20:35):
Just like, what do we check in? I'm glad I'm
not raining because men don't run.

Speaker 5 (01:20:41):
I'm like, I mean, where do we check in? So
I'm dragging some big old suitcase and stuff.

Speaker 2 (01:20:45):
You can't carry your own luggage.

Speaker 5 (01:20:47):
Well, usually when you're checking in somewhere, you pull up
and they come out and get your stuff bringing in
with you.

Speaker 2 (01:20:52):
You're the George Cloon, You're you're the guy that pulls
up like people have been to a hotel, no red card.
I normally get my own stuff.

Speaker 5 (01:20:59):
You don't pull up and when the people stand out
there say come and that you want it a nice place.

Speaker 4 (01:21:05):
I've never seen it in a place where they got luggage.

Speaker 2 (01:21:07):
Never, I've never. I've never stayed in a place where
they come out and get stuff and white just I haven't. Wow,
Really it was.

Speaker 5 (01:21:15):
Dream range right there you go because dad would't let
him get hit. So okay, there's life outside the Hampton
in just so y'all know. I mean you always depend
on that.

Speaker 2 (01:21:28):
But anyway, so as it gets my go to look,
I found good.

Speaker 5 (01:21:34):
Yeah, look I see what y'all get paid. Y'all can
go beyond Hampton and now we stayed at nice hotels.

Speaker 2 (01:21:38):
I just I mean, I get my own luggage though. Yeah,
you've never pulled up and there's this. I know, if
somebody tries to get my luggage, I'll go like I
got it.

Speaker 5 (01:21:46):
Like when y'all went to like I was thinking about,
you bring a wheelchair out.

Speaker 2 (01:21:52):
I don't mean to break it, y'all.

Speaker 5 (01:21:54):
There's actually a lot of places where there's people that
come out and get your luggage. You have never seen
the little thing where they come out and put it
on here and they.

Speaker 1 (01:22:00):
Got the water up.

Speaker 5 (01:22:02):
That's right, well, and that's why y'all don't do it.

Speaker 2 (01:22:06):
But I can't carry it back.

Speaker 5 (01:22:08):
But anyway, I thought carry on or there was no
one like it was on a motorized card. There was
no there was no contact with any human. I'm no,
I will say this. I'm checking in somewhere. Where do
you I just go in the house shot this one.
So anyway, so I pull up that, we go into
the front door on it and there's no one in there,

(01:22:30):
and all of a sudden it hits me, which y'all
all have already been saying.

Speaker 2 (01:22:33):
So I've never been.

Speaker 5 (01:22:34):
To a bed and break Suddenly, suddenly it dawns on me.
It hits me pretty quick. We're just company.

Speaker 2 (01:22:42):
Okay, we're coming over somebody's house.

Speaker 5 (01:22:45):
They just watching TV and doing their own thing. We're company,
and I come on anybody, we're relatives. We're relatives coming
to visit. And I mean, I'm like, this is somebody's house.

Speaker 2 (01:22:56):
Hey, it makes a little water with that, right, you're
on vacation with strange Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:23:00):
And then it hits you like y'all said, oh, I
don't have a hotel room, I have a room. Get
a house like you, like you shifted in the bed
and the whole bad school, Like it's Christmas and you
got extended family coming over. You go, all right, we
got you set.

Speaker 2 (01:23:12):
Up in this room. Just like in the movies.

Speaker 5 (01:23:14):
It's a guess room. Did you want a guess room?
Did you have to sit around the table with strangers
and eat breakfast?

Speaker 2 (01:23:19):
I did? Really?

Speaker 5 (01:23:20):
At one point other people are in the house.

Speaker 2 (01:23:24):
I mean, I understand in the hotel you go down
for continental breakfast and you do eat around other people.

Speaker 4 (01:23:29):
But no, only it's the take a restaurant.

Speaker 2 (01:23:32):
Yeah, normally you're just spread out.

Speaker 5 (01:23:33):
No, no, no, no, there was an auction you could
sit at the same table somebody, but we would get
over to tow cedar, but in a very tiny room
like we all ate in a room about the sights
a little bit smaller.

Speaker 2 (01:23:44):
Than that room, and then regular room and discuss what
was open.

Speaker 4 (01:23:49):
This does look nice there?

Speaker 2 (01:23:50):
You go, yeah, oh wowk wow, that's scary.

Speaker 5 (01:23:55):
So you know, looks mean like he's mad.

Speaker 2 (01:23:58):
I think his eyes walk with you any moves.

Speaker 5 (01:24:00):
By the way, who is that Denzil?

Speaker 2 (01:24:03):
Greg?

Speaker 4 (01:24:04):
Greg? He is Greg Greg?

Speaker 2 (01:24:16):
What? Okay? Where you going?

Speaker 5 (01:24:25):
Oh gosh, Shell, come on, man, Oh, I'm trying thanking
the guy's name.

Speaker 4 (01:24:33):
It's Frederick Douglas.

Speaker 2 (01:24:34):
So y'all didn't know either what I knew? What Denzil?
That I knew? Okay? Did I knew that? You're sure?

Speaker 6 (01:24:48):
I did?

Speaker 2 (01:24:48):
I saw you go.

Speaker 5 (01:24:51):
Saying fred Yeah. I actually thought it was Greg and
all fairness, I thought it was Samuel Jackson, Okay, get
a lot of the time. No, it's it's Frederick Douglas. Okay,
I said, of course I expected this ghost to be
all in there my hand.

Speaker 2 (01:25:12):
Here there are other people in the house and Rick's
got a shirt on. By the way, there's a big topic,
so let me answer this.

Speaker 5 (01:25:21):
Did you get a relationship and kind of with the
people that were also staying there.

Speaker 2 (01:25:24):
You would see them enough to go, hey, how are
y'all doing? Y'all having a good time? Yeah it did.
Did you feel abrogated to ask them to go like on,
excourage you with you?

Speaker 8 (01:25:31):
No?

Speaker 5 (01:25:32):
I got myself immersing some people's lives that I went
in reluctantly. No, so I can live with that table
like that. But there's some other people sitting right around me.
That's somebody taking a picture from there. Did you put
your fork down taking picture of a bedroom with the
bathroom correct?

Speaker 2 (01:25:47):
Are you sure? Is there one bathroom in the hall
or at that?

Speaker 5 (01:25:50):
There's one downstairs which I paid it. I paid a
visit to it one time. But now you're in there
and there's only one sink that's kind of out in
the room. Then there's a tiny little toilet room, and
then they had a bathtub slash shower that you could
tell they put in that old room.

Speaker 2 (01:26:04):
Did you open the bathroom door and a guy standing
there with his towel waiting his turn?

Speaker 1 (01:26:09):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:26:09):
Okay, No, nothing like that did someone we are just company, But.

Speaker 5 (01:26:15):
Well that's nod was squeaky.

Speaker 2 (01:26:18):
That's what I'm saying. That's what I mean. Uncomfortable about this,
uncomfortably squeaky.

Speaker 5 (01:26:23):
Oh it was an old bad and.

Speaker 2 (01:26:25):
That was nice. But it's sure, what right you got
your w D how to go along? Way to get here?
I gotta have some w FO Yeah, because you don't.

Speaker 5 (01:26:38):
You don't want you beautiful wife to start saying, oh no, okay,
not as much prophecy as you want.

Speaker 2 (01:26:45):
Can't have that.

Speaker 4 (01:26:47):
No thin walls, thin floors.

Speaker 2 (01:26:49):
I that's that's you know what sunds. That sounds like
a horror show.

Speaker 4 (01:26:53):
I got the ghost to Frederick Douglas. Fire Denzel was
looking down at.

Speaker 5 (01:26:58):
Shary said on say corner, she goes. Everybody in here's
looking at us.

Speaker 2 (01:27:05):
That's great. I'm so uncomfortable with your weekends.

Speaker 1 (01:27:13):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. It's like eating lunch
at the cool table, the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 2 (01:27:33):
We've been a blast as always, American. Thank you for
being here with us. Today.

Speaker 5 (01:27:37):

antique bed at a bed and breakfast, uh helixsleep dot Com,
Slash big Box said, how about this.

Speaker 2 (01:27:50):
We'll make a bed exactly the way you want it.

Speaker 5 (01:27:52):
No, no, no, no creaking here. Uh, we make it
just the way you want it. We got a sleep quiz.
We'd like to find out some stuff about you. Caution,
not a hassle. Greg even fielled it out. That's right
to it. Hey, nothing to it. He and little Lee
Lee slept on theirs last night.

Speaker 2 (01:28:09):
That's right.

Speaker 5 (01:28:09):
So if you'd like to get a customized mattress, may

one hundred to be sure that you love it what
you're going to They also want to know what kind
of mattress you want, firm, soft, medium, something like that.
They got big and tall options. They got children's mattresses.

Speaker 2 (01:28:28):
And if you just had that in the Bed and Breakfast,
we'll oh my goodness for today.

Speaker 5 (01:28:32):
So Helisleep dot com slash big Vox twenty five percent
off if you use our u r L. You also
find that link a Rick Burgess show dot com under sponsors.

Speaker 2 (01:28:45):
So Bed and Breakfast.

Speaker 5 (01:28:46):
I've never really done that before, so like even on
the breakfast, I realized it was an interesting, you know,
because I'm trying to figure it out. So they the
host and they were wonderful people, wonderful people, such such
a kind family. I mean, like you see some of
their kids working. And she comes out and says, is

(01:29:08):
this fill in the blank okay for breakfast? But I
don't have a menu. So I'm thinking, could I say no?

Speaker 2 (01:29:16):
Or is this just the way?

Speaker 5 (01:29:18):
Is this just the way they inform you this is
what we're having for breakfast? Do they have another option?
Like would they say, how about a croissant? I didn't
know what to do with it?

Speaker 2 (01:29:28):
Pancakes?

Speaker 5 (01:29:29):
And I liked what they were making, so I was
finding it was absolutely delicious. But that was a weird
thing because I'm a custom I'm standing somewhere. I go
down there for breakfast. I got a menu, yeah, or
I got a buffet or something, not a bed and
breakfast luggage.

Speaker 27 (01:29:41):
YEA.

Speaker 2 (01:29:42):
Well I realized, no, no, you've already said.

Speaker 5 (01:29:43):
I didn't realize that when you go to a bed
and breakfast your company, you're just showing out what you're
sewing up to see somebody, and they say, here's the
room you're.

Speaker 2 (01:29:50):
In, and the beautiful room.

Speaker 5 (01:29:52):
You know, let's face it, the craftsmanship of you know,
one thing they told us about the property, and this
is just a little bit of serous sidebar here, not serious. Interesting.
They said that when they were refurbishing this place that's
been around, like say, since James Madison lived there. Well
he didn't live there, but this was part of his
greater property. It was a friend of his who actually

(01:30:12):
built that, built that, and his kids went there in
all this way. But they said, when we were refurbishing everything,
the stuff that was made before and up to the
Civil War was in great shape. Everything made after the
Civil War in the Industrial Age was garbage cheap.

Speaker 2 (01:30:31):
They said. Up to the.

Speaker 5 (01:30:32):
Industrial Age, boy, we built qualities stuff. But when it
became let's get as much of it out there as
we possibly can make it as cheap as you can.
They said that stuff would just falling part everywhere. But
they said, Civil War back good quality stuff. And you
could see some of it. It was incredible. By the way,
if you want to go to small town colonial Virginia,

(01:30:54):
and if you speedy who loved Barnes, it's barn heaven,
there are barnes, beautiful barns. Even on the property there
was a beautiful barn. So you go in there and
look around. I did so, and if you add or
you would have just loved and you and I both
as handy people. There was there was a work. There
was a workshop shop in that barn that the sun had.

(01:31:16):
It had every kind of till you can think of,
and it was set up so neat and so organized.
Mind not have liked that part apparently, But this is
this a little walking trails actually a four wheeler trail.

Speaker 13 (01:31:29):
There?

Speaker 2 (01:31:31):
Did you pretend you were handy to others?

Speaker 5 (01:31:33):
Well, they start talking to me about the shop out
in the barn, and I say, ooh, that's something I
want to see. Yeah, and and hey, don't run around
and the husband they're looking and he said, he said,
so you like to you like the workshop? I said,
I love the smell of a good workshop. Let me
go out there and check that out. The smell fix anything?
I said, what should I be looking for? Where he

(01:31:54):
goes soon as you see the goats go left. So anyway,
then there then there's the what are we gonna do
while here? What what's going to be our excursions? Hang
out with people you don't know? And Mont said again
Pillier James Madison's home, by the way, the author of
the constitution.

Speaker 2 (01:32:14):
Pretty big deal. I heard of it.

Speaker 5 (01:32:17):
I knew, I knew I should have been paying attention
when the woman who's very very kind that runs the
bed and breakfast, the wife.

Speaker 4 (01:32:25):
Is this the house he slept in?

Speaker 2 (01:32:27):
Or is that just one of the houses that No,
that's the house.

Speaker 4 (01:32:30):
We're all in there, slept in that house.

Speaker 5 (01:32:32):
Matter of fact, that's my window there on the left.

Speaker 2 (01:32:35):
Are you right? That's me? Is that your bed and breakfast? Smile?
You got going cheesing, isn't it? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (01:32:45):
So uh so anyway, uh the property was absolutely beautiful,
absolutely beautiful.

Speaker 2 (01:32:51):
So it looks like so a lot of history.

Speaker 5 (01:32:54):
I was concerned about. Haynes I hang on lie Yeah,
finally told me to stop talking about that. She said,
you hang around your brothers too much.

Speaker 2 (01:33:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:33:01):
Right, so, and of course Greg, there's some one you
like the most. But anyway, beautiful home, beautiful property, all
of that.

Speaker 2 (01:33:10):
So so anyways, so much history, so much.

Speaker 5 (01:33:12):
I say, now I was wrong, but anyway, thanks Greg.
So I heard them say this, they said, now when
you go to Mount Mount Pillier, I think it's been
Constitution day. We have we don't have actors there, we
have scholars, and I thought that's the different. I didn't
know that meant that they would not come out of

(01:33:34):
character at all. So on the property walking around was
James Madison, it's his place, Thomas Jefferson.

Speaker 2 (01:33:42):
They there all the time.

Speaker 5 (01:33:44):
No, I think they're there for a certain day. James Monroe.
That's the only three. That's the only different. James Monroe. Uh,
so we that we encountered James Madison. This is James Madison.

Speaker 2 (01:33:57):
Hey, what's the quarterback with right?

Speaker 5 (01:34:01):
Yes, Fitzpatrick, James Madison would not come out of carrot
that fagure out the staying care Yeah, oh they all did.

Speaker 2 (01:34:08):
But he really he thinks he's James Madison.

Speaker 5 (01:34:11):
And of course I couldn't do anything with it because
I kept trying to have a conversation outside of the time.

Speaker 2 (01:34:19):
You got a mirror that and you try to go
a hate serious business, and he wouldn't come out of it.

Speaker 5 (01:34:23):
And then all of a sudden, I'm sitting there and
when he's interacting with us, we put our phone and
he goes, oh, what is that contraption?

Speaker 2 (01:34:29):
Oh, it's some type of mirror.

Speaker 5 (01:34:30):
I'm like, no, he no, he did, I said I
was like, you know what a phone? I was like, hey, buddy,
where are you a smart phoney?

Speaker 2 (01:34:43):
How about this?

Speaker 5 (01:34:44):
Hey, Larry, you know this is okay, you're a good action.

Speaker 2 (01:34:50):
Come on, Larry, Okay you have one?

Speaker 1 (01:34:52):
Yes?

Speaker 2 (01:34:53):
Do you think he's James at home? I don't know
how to st at home with him?

Speaker 5 (01:34:56):
Well, when we come back, I'm going to I'm going
to tell you a couple of things you don't do
when you're touring this time frame of colonial Virginia because
there's a lot of things that were going on then
so that we all decided we needed to fix. But
in that time you had, you had free labor. Uh

(01:35:17):
and uh and of course you know, just you got
to be real careful when you get into all that,
because you know, people can be hypper sensitive, especially when
you're in Virginia not missing up your Alabama and so
a couple of things you don't want to do there
and and so well, uh but Jay, and also I'm
gonna tell you I had an uncomfortable moment with James

(01:35:39):
Madison and uh we just and and uh and I
was also if I thought somebody exaggerated something, Sherry, tell
me to stop whispering step out, we believe, step out.

Speaker 28 (01:35:56):
Just like that.

Speaker 2 (01:35:56):
Can hear the bed breakfast?

Speaker 5 (01:35:58):
By the way, the Constitution is a big deal myself
going all in and thanking James for the work he
put into it.

Speaker 2 (01:36:03):
So you said, okay, you're not Larry. I guess you're James.

Speaker 5 (01:36:06):
Didn't know he would take me through the entire yazoo
Land deeds.

Speaker 1 (01:36:10):
But still, this is the Rick Burgess Show. The people
who don't like this show, you wouldn't like anyway, the
Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 5 (01:36:32):
Yes, that's more about them than the show, So just
move on, okay, all right, So wrapping up the trip
this weekend to beautiful colonial Virginia, beautiful beautiful land by
the way, Virginia, y'all surprised me how much corn y'all
y'all grew thiss. I didn't know y'all grow so much corn.
A lot of corn, huh, Virginia and corn. I never

(01:36:53):
I saw a trement that's all been picked. But I
mean the cornfields with the you know, the now the
dried up stalks, lots of corn. I was shocked by that.
Where I was. So I was in colonial colonial Virginia.
You know, those small towns still have the colonial style
houses and their little downtown areas. I mean just phenomenal

(01:37:15):
and great food, great great service. Wonderful people. Uh they really,
they really, they really were very very nice people. Now
when I get into the you know, I'm kind of
likeabull in the China Shop. You know, throughout the years
of listening to my many trips, you know, sharing I
we can't we just can't seem to stay out of
oward situations, and no matter how hard we try. And

(01:37:37):
so James Madison, the guy playing James Madison, who was
certain he was James when not, all of a sudden.

Speaker 4 (01:37:47):
His eyebrows aren't coming out of character either.

Speaker 2 (01:37:54):
How do you see out of that some caterpillars they've
got up on your head?

Speaker 5 (01:37:57):
Yeah, I realized he's hitting on my wife, that Madison,
James Madison. All of a sudden, he's like, uh, well, uh,
I'll tell you one thing. If if you're in indication
of what Alabama's like, I need to spend more time there.
I'm like, oh, but oh, James James, the real James

(01:38:17):
considered well until he married Dolly Madison, they referred to
him as the ultimate bachelor. Okay, maybe he's just being
He's what they said. He was very busy, very studious,
which we'll get to in a minute where I upset
the gud. But anyway, so I'm like, and then all
of a sudden, he goes, I find myself looking at
your beauty and uh, you know, being uh you know,

(01:38:38):
really intrigued with your beauty. But as I size up
the man this year with you, I realized I probably
wouldn't fare very well. And I said, you got that right,
little guy, You got that right, You got that right
on you right?

Speaker 2 (01:38:48):
A constitution? Should you be writing a constitution? Browns? Right, Yeah,
that's right. Uni.

Speaker 5 (01:38:54):
Everybody tell me how focused you were. You seem to
have a little who are you doing? You're playing James Madison,
not Bill Clinton?

Speaker 8 (01:39:01):
So h.

Speaker 2 (01:39:03):
Hey, little Sherry, I like him shoes.

Speaker 5 (01:39:05):
So anyway, we we now begin to tour the facility, okay,
and it's it's James Madison's property, and there's just you know,
a by the way, the DuPonts bought it, they said,
they messed it up and turned it into pink stucco,
and they had to go Once the DuPonts sold it back,
they had to go back and refurbish a lot of
things box catch, there's my beautiful wife, the landscape there

(01:39:28):
at the property, beautiful, beautiful property.

Speaker 2 (01:39:30):
But hey, Rick, so.

Speaker 5 (01:39:31):
Anyway, you know, anytime you're in a group and you're
going back to the days of colonial America, it's uh,
be aware what where, what everything is? Okay, uncomfortable moments
with a very nice black couple that uh where they're

(01:39:52):
touring as well, a little different experience for them, okay,
and you have to keep.

Speaker 2 (01:39:57):
That in mind.

Speaker 5 (01:39:57):
I didn't know there's various little houses every where. Stepped
into one and said, hey, this thing is pretty cool.
Uh and then the woman says, these are slave quarters.

Speaker 2 (01:40:08):
You referred to its cool? Uh?

Speaker 5 (01:40:10):
Well, I was kind of saying, what a cool little
camp house and everything. Man, today's turn in today's time.

Speaker 2 (01:40:16):
That's off.

Speaker 5 (01:40:16):
Hey, how about a heads up? And I said, oh, okay,
well let's not think out loud all right?

Speaker 2 (01:40:21):
Then yeah, I.

Speaker 5 (01:40:22):
Said, well, you know, yeah, I just did, and then
I rambled around, but it was I thought, well, James
Madison probably had nicer you know, facilities and maybe some
other places, and then continuing in the couple and I'm
just rambling. So anyway, so hey, that's on me. So
we uh so we go, we go in and uh,
we get up there and we're going through the house

(01:40:43):
and we get to James Madison's library, which they estimated
that he had at any time three thousand or more books,
and it was where big moment in history. It was
where he was set down and put together what became
the Constitution. That's a big they said. Stayed up there
for like nine months. So anyway, okay, it's a pretty

(01:41:05):
big deal. Yeah, well, you have to be careful because
in the books from real no, they said that unfortunately,
there was a fire and they lost most of them,
but they went and found replicas from other lives. Just
say not because when they looked at his writings, they
could see the books he read, so they tried to
go find duplicates of the stuff that he was actually
reading as best they could. So anyway, so our guide

(01:41:27):
begins to look a bit of a lecture. None of
us think slavery was good, well, none of us.

Speaker 2 (01:41:34):
It was horrible.

Speaker 5 (01:41:34):
We would think there was a scar on the world,
not just our country, you know, because it was all
over the world.

Speaker 2 (01:41:39):
It's not. There's some places it's going on now.

Speaker 5 (01:41:42):
It's terrible, But to go too far so in course,
this this one, this one really was the like, hey, kid,
you don't have to if you think something, you don't
have to say it. You know, I got time. Remember
the time I got my brother. Remember by the time
I got into trouble with the Georgia Aquarium because I
said that the fact that we were that grouper, we

(01:42:03):
had a shortage of grouper and I said, ah, it's
a step out and the and the woman said excuse me.
I said, I don't think we're hurting on grouper.

Speaker 2 (01:42:10):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (01:42:11):
And you know I got lectured a little bit about that.
Cherry said, don't you don't think if you think something.
We're just here to have a good time.

Speaker 9 (01:42:17):
Man.

Speaker 2 (01:42:17):
You know, in groups don't work out.

Speaker 5 (01:42:18):
No, So the woman says, well, Sheerry said something about
James Madison. She said, well, you know, he didn't have
to work, and shears out, what do you mean he
didn't have to work, well, because of all the free
labor that he had here that were taking care of
the property, so he didn't have to fool with all that.
So he didn't have to work, I said, other than

(01:42:39):
writing the constitution. Yeah, maybe he needed to free his
time up for that. Slavery is a bad thing, but
I don't think we're ready to said that James Madison
didn't work. Any anybody think putting together constitution was was
was work? I said, other than being up here for
nine months putting together the constitution?

Speaker 2 (01:42:55):
You said that out loud, I did with the men
don't run in the rain and point right, I hope so.

Speaker 5 (01:43:01):
He didn't have to work. And I said, other than
right in the constitution?

Speaker 2 (01:43:05):
Man, silence? Did silence? Follow?

Speaker 13 (01:43:09):
That?

Speaker 2 (01:43:09):
It did?

Speaker 5 (01:43:11):
And the woman looked at me like she wanted to
kill me, And I said, well, I'm just making that point.
I said, I understand what you're saying. And you know
it's no doubt if they're not supposed to debate you
on right, I said, But I said the Constitution big.
I would go as far as I say, the Constitution
ultimately was used to free people because we were being

(01:43:32):
inconsistent with what we claimed in there. So putting the
Constitution together there was work. Probably a lot. How many
people were standing there with you while you.

Speaker 2 (01:43:41):
Were at six.

Speaker 5 (01:43:43):
And how many were appalled that'd be that'd be five.

Speaker 2 (01:43:49):
And you were the only one that wasn't. Then we
go out and then was rather.

Speaker 5 (01:43:53):
Then she goes, why and I said, that's I'm sorry, honey,
that was a good point. She goes, it actually was
not a bad point. It just shouldn't have been made. Yeah, okay,
why do we care if this woman? Why are we
debating her? I said, you don't need to take it
too far, you know, you you can go and say that,
you know, we need to be thankful and how this

(01:44:14):
thing operated, and it did operate like a fine old machine,
and that the people who who did the work. We
can do all that, but don't say James Madison didn't work.
He didn't do He might not have done much labor,
but he did work. Yeah, he's making a good point.
Since he put together the constitution.

Speaker 2 (01:44:31):
You could have kept that to you so he could have.

Speaker 12 (01:44:34):
I agree with you, rig I just don't think that's
he took a stand that was the right thing to do.

Speaker 5 (01:44:39):
Rick, Okay, Constitution. Did it just come together or did
it require a lot of work?

Speaker 2 (01:44:45):
Yes? Did you have anyone in the group that kind
of looked at you like, hey, that's a good point. Anyone?

Speaker 5 (01:44:51):
No one was no one had the courage like looking
down at feet were they were three other husbands who
weren't going to say anything. Yeah, mm hmmm, actually two
of them sorry, because it was there was a totally
so anything.

Speaker 2 (01:45:03):
They went back to the room. Men, men don't run
the ring.

Speaker 5 (01:45:05):
Guy he did, he had And when I walked into
the next room, and when they walked into the next room,
even though I know we're supposed to be living in
the colonial times, they must have they must have walkie talkies,
because when I walked in the next room, it's like
the guy looked at me like that's him.

Speaker 2 (01:45:19):
Well, yeah, you stood out. Let me tell you that
stood out? What you stood out? So that's uh and uh,
you're easily recognizable. By the way. Also, if they've got replicaus,
what does he look like. Well he has the men
that running the range shirt. It's real big. If he rains,
he'll be the one walking. Uh yeah, so everyone else.

(01:45:42):
But no, I was.

Speaker 5 (01:45:43):
I looked and then don't say don't say that because
James Madison, lets face, it wasn't the most attractive man.
I didn't fear losing Sherry to him.

Speaker 2 (01:45:52):
But he did run the constitution.

Speaker 5 (01:45:55):
Dragging that's just a little celebrity to him. He wrote
the Constitution and went on to be our I think
our fourth president. Uh so, but he he was. We
went in and they had like replicas of of everybody
that said at the dining table, James Monroe, Lafayette, Uh,

(01:46:16):
you know, some women and Dolly Madison. At the end,
it wasn't her. It was just a rep She.

Speaker 2 (01:46:20):
Made some good cakes and uh. And it was like
a cartoon of them, you know.

Speaker 5 (01:46:24):
I mean they had them like you would put them up,
like almost like mannequins.

Speaker 2 (01:46:29):
And uh.

Speaker 5 (01:46:30):
And then I had to I had to. Unfortunately they
went down there and this right here at the end
of the day it would have been Dolly Madison. I
looked at you and I said, oh, she's not much
of a looker, said again, I didn't think you about her,
and and a lot of personality.

Speaker 2 (01:46:46):
You can do better.

Speaker 5 (01:46:48):
No, I don't think James Madison. I think for him
that was fantastic and she was a character and she was.

Speaker 2 (01:46:53):
Quite a knock on in history. And uh and I
sure you just can't help. But can't sure?

Speaker 5 (01:46:58):
You said, if you bring up the snackcakes, we're doing.
So when did you start making snackcakes? So we'll be
back on screen.

Speaker 2 (01:47:10):
Phone calls coming up running for.

Speaker 1 (01:47:11):
This This is the Rick Burgess Show. Burchie, I'm the

(01:47:32):
most dangerous ten minutes in radio. Unscreened phone calls get
in now by dialing one eight eight eight six, Big Fox.

Speaker 2 (01:47:42):
The show has been smoking already.

Speaker 5 (01:47:45):
We're almost two hours in if you're miss any of it,
catching archives. Now we go to the people I know
coming off the weekend, sometimes.

Speaker 2 (01:47:52):
You'll drag a little bit, but let's check in with you.

Speaker 5 (01:47:56):
Of course, coming off the weekend, there's always that wonder did.

Speaker 6 (01:48:00):
The phones even work?

Speaker 5 (01:48:02):
Because we've already found things again the grimlins over the weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:48:06):
I can't explain it.

Speaker 5 (01:48:08):
The number is eight eight eight, the number six, big Vox,
and there's always that wonder. There we go, thank you.
The delay always cares me, but here, here we go.
So we'll go rapid fire. You know, when you hear
the phone ringing, that means that you're in line, ready
to go.

Speaker 2 (01:48:27):
And then we'll move through.

Speaker 5 (01:48:28):
The calls, you know, you know, just screening them on
the fly, which makes it the most dangerous ten minutes
in radio. But we had a great weekend, all kind
of side, beautiful beautiful place, great food, great hospitality, and
much needed time together for Sherry and me. So to
the phones, we go, Hello, You're on the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 2 (01:48:47):
On unscreened phone calls.

Speaker 16 (01:48:48):
Go ahead, good morning. I was looking at some stuff,
just got some prophecies about Kim Clement, about the new Astra,
wanting a few touched on that.

Speaker 5 (01:49:02):
I didn't fully understand what you're saying. What did you say?
Is there a new movie, a new Estra movie? Is
that what you're saying?

Speaker 16 (01:49:11):
No, sir, there's a prophecy in twenty eleven, a prophecy.
Yeah about Her name was Kim Clement, and she prophesies
a modern day Estra. And I'm just seeing if you've
touched on that or looked into that.

Speaker 2 (01:49:27):
I haven't.

Speaker 5 (01:49:28):
A matter of fact, you're telling me that for the
very first time. I've never heard anything about that, So
I apologize. I'm just not knowledgeable about it or on it.
Also one thing though, talking about prophecy, you know tomorrow
is supposed to be the end of time. I heard somebody,
I can't believe it was the newspaper I think yesterday
actually refer to his wife as the new Estra.

Speaker 4 (01:49:49):
That's what Erica Kirk is.

Speaker 12 (01:49:51):
People are saying that this this prophecy they believe it points.

Speaker 4 (01:49:55):
To Erica Kirk is. What people are saying is the
first time I.

Speaker 5 (01:49:58):
Heard one of the anchors even say easy or the reporters,
and I was very surprised.

Speaker 2 (01:50:04):
What we'll get into later.

Speaker 5 (01:50:05):
Okay, Rick Burgess Show, unscreen phone calls, go ahead. I'll
tell you what from that's the most task. Kim Clements
is a dude. Okay, I didn't know that. You know,
let's face it, Kim may be one of the most
difficult gender bender names. And there's a lot out there,

(01:50:25):
but that may be the hardest one. Yeah, that's harder
than Dana to me. Oh, we continue, lines are opening up.

Speaker 2 (01:50:32):
You can join us.

Speaker 5 (01:50:32):
Rick Burgess Show, unscreen phone calls, go.

Speaker 17 (01:50:36):
Yes, sir.

Speaker 6 (01:50:37):
Uh.

Speaker 27 (01:50:37):
You know the guys that talked about Trump want to
do the USC ring outside the White House?

Speaker 6 (01:50:43):
Yeah?

Speaker 27 (01:50:44):
Or so yeah, so if you guys did a ring
outside of the studio with reoccurring guests, uh oh past guess.
But it's a little rumble tip deal. Who do you
think would be the first one thrown ounce?

Speaker 18 (01:50:57):
And who do you.

Speaker 2 (01:51:00):
All right?

Speaker 9 (01:51:00):
Now?

Speaker 5 (01:51:00):
Handedy thinks he would win. Handy thinks he beat everybody.
So don't take you off. Andy Andrews all right, Andy
made surprise, We'll take you. I love Andy, but I
don't know how he would do. And he looks like
he's just all peaceful. Guy rain Alliendo, I don't think
makes it very long.

Speaker 2 (01:51:19):
I throw Greg. I'm just kidding.

Speaker 5 (01:51:23):
He still has that, doesn't he does. I know, I'm
still bothered, but.

Speaker 17 (01:51:28):
Alive.

Speaker 6 (01:51:29):
You know.

Speaker 5 (01:51:29):
Greg's always the best at everybody be a bringing that
something's good, and so he can point out that he didn't.

Speaker 2 (01:51:35):
Think so okay, that's his thing, that's what he love.

Speaker 5 (01:51:39):
So I think I don't think Andy would fare very long.
Bring it the So I'm trying to think of all
the guests we've had.

Speaker 2 (01:51:49):
On in the history of the thirty one years.

Speaker 5 (01:51:52):
You're talk about all way back on Rick and Bubba
have to be because we've only been doing this for them.

Speaker 2 (01:51:57):
Nobody's meeting Jared Hudson if it's current, Oh no, wow,
nobody wow.

Speaker 9 (01:52:02):
Jared.

Speaker 2 (01:52:03):
He may take Andy and Richard Simmons.

Speaker 4 (01:52:06):
Beating is beating everybody.

Speaker 2 (01:52:08):
He took. He he's dead wall in this. You can
be dead or a lot. I think it would get.

Speaker 5 (01:52:13):
Down to the finals me against Jared Hudson.

Speaker 4 (01:52:18):
And Richard Simmons.

Speaker 2 (01:52:19):
I don't know that guy played beff off of Back
to the Future.

Speaker 5 (01:52:22):
We had him and his name, Yeah, Greg, you know
you know who I beat to go against, Jared Hudson
A wolf. I forgot We continue. Rick Burgess Showing. Stream
phone calls go hey.

Speaker 16 (01:52:35):
You, I got you a good controversial topic here.

Speaker 8 (01:52:37):
Thanksgiving food is very overrated.

Speaker 6 (01:52:41):
When it comes to turkey and dressing and ham.

Speaker 5 (01:52:45):
Oh now ham, I may drift with you turkey and dressing.

Speaker 2 (01:52:48):
What do you the death? I'll give you ham?

Speaker 5 (01:52:50):
I mean, my goodness, we're getting close?

Speaker 2 (01:52:56):
Oh yeah? Is that?

Speaker 28 (01:52:59):
What is it?

Speaker 5 (01:53:00):
When those people like I wish we'd just have pizza,
but I like good old traditional Rick Burgess Show stream
phone calls, go ahead.

Speaker 10 (01:53:10):
Hey, how you doing good? Good?

Speaker 2 (01:53:14):
All right, that's it? Okay, we didn't mention Kyl Maynard
text or set.

Speaker 5 (01:53:19):
That'd be lost him. Rick Burgess Show unscreen phone calls.

Speaker 2 (01:53:24):
Go ahead, Hey, what's up fellas? How are you all
fired up and ready?

Speaker 6 (01:53:29):
All right?

Speaker 2 (01:53:29):
I got one for you guys. Last week.

Speaker 6 (01:53:31):
I'll talked about cookies this time.

Speaker 4 (01:53:33):
If you've got to go hit.

Speaker 6 (01:53:34):
The drive through and get ice cream? What is the
top drive through ice cream you can get?

Speaker 20 (01:53:40):
Gotta be gotta be Reese's cup Blizzard. I got to
hear what you say.

Speaker 2 (01:53:43):
Okay, I'll go with the chocolate from Frosty from Wendy's. Yep,
I love a Frosty. Uh you know what I'm about.

Speaker 5 (01:53:50):
I'm going with frozen custard from either Culvers or Freddy's.

Speaker 2 (01:53:53):
That's not bad. I love. I love.

Speaker 5 (01:53:56):
That's all I've ever gotten there is frozen Cushing. Never
had a Hamburg the other.

Speaker 2 (01:53:59):
Day Frosty, I mean, can you beat it?

Speaker 5 (01:54:02):
You can't beat frost But the blizzard when they stick
the spoon in and turn it upside down, I'm impressed.

Speaker 2 (01:54:06):
Do you ever want the spoon to fall out?

Speaker 4 (01:54:08):
I'm impressed when they turn it up?

Speaker 5 (01:54:10):
I gotta tell you I don't. I don't do what
can we count dairy queen in this?

Speaker 2 (01:54:15):
No blizzard?

Speaker 4 (01:54:17):
Yeah that's ice cream?

Speaker 5 (01:54:18):
I look I like that old dip com dis good
for kids. Remember when he would break apart? It's too
massy by the way fast. What if Larry the patch
Man got in the ring? He wouldn't last really No,
Plus he's got that bad leg.

Speaker 2 (01:54:37):
Yeah and back.

Speaker 5 (01:54:39):
I'm here to represent patches. We continue Rick Birderr Show
on screen phone calls.

Speaker 6 (01:54:45):
Go ahead, Hey guys, quick question.

Speaker 13 (01:54:49):
Uh and since you guys.

Speaker 7 (01:54:50):
Are all foodies, I have to know.

Speaker 15 (01:54:53):
Have you guys ever had people from the big box
seats bringing anything that was not edible?

Speaker 2 (01:55:00):
Thanks for your call. No, let's never have no delicious.

Speaker 12 (01:55:04):
We've never had anything that we didn't want to eat.

Speaker 5 (01:55:08):
That's such an uncomfortable question. I think you know the answer.

Speaker 2 (01:55:12):
We're so thankful that you would bring anything. Let's just
say this. The answer is yes.

Speaker 5 (01:55:16):
The batting percentage is high though on good stuff. The
answer is yes.

Speaker 2 (01:55:21):
When we popped the trunk that day and they were super.

Speaker 5 (01:55:23):
All right, Okay, I didn't know what okay, devil to
exit trunk.

Speaker 2 (01:55:26):
Was a little concerned it was a temperature. But hey,
the love was there and all that matters. All made
with love.

Speaker 5 (01:55:32):
How about this wonderful human beings. But let's face it,
not everybody's food we should consume just meeting you.

Speaker 2 (01:55:39):
For the first time, right, shouldn't? But we do so
to answer.

Speaker 5 (01:55:43):
Your question, honestly, yes, there's been food that we would
not eat.

Speaker 2 (01:55:47):
I'm sorry, that's true.

Speaker 5 (01:55:49):
Yeah, one mad it's just something I don't like. It
could be that, But there's been some that I just
thought them hands look a little grubby.

Speaker 2 (01:56:00):
Top of the hour, Rick.

Speaker 1 (01:56:01):
Burgens, She asked a question, This is the Rick Burchers Show.
You better listen up.

Speaker 23 (01:56:19):
You know what we say.

Speaker 2 (01:56:22):
All sign to tell you gotta find.

Speaker 1 (01:56:30):
Brand new in an unreasonable world. The Rick Burchers Show.

Speaker 14 (01:56:36):
Trying so hard, trying so hard to bring a reasonable
boy to this unreasonable world, excited about spendicing time together
again this autum.

Speaker 2 (01:56:48):
Here's the number we're about to go on stream phone calls.

Speaker 5 (01:56:50):
That's eight day days, the number six big bonds.

Speaker 2 (01:56:56):
You want to get on the show to fire him
up right now and we'll say hello to you in
just a moment.

Speaker 5 (01:57:05):
It is the most dangerous ten minutes in radio when
the show decides to go to unscreened phone calls. There's
nothing between us and you when you're ringing. We're looking
at it. We answer sitting right here at all our positions.
There's Speedy, there's Greg, there's Adler.

Speaker 2 (01:57:25):
We're all here.

Speaker 5 (01:57:27):
So if you hear ringing, that means that you've dialed
eight eight eight the number six big Vox, and you're
in line and you're ready to go, and we'll go
through them rapid fire.

Speaker 2 (01:57:39):
Quickly.

Speaker 5 (01:57:40):
While I have your attention, you can join Speedy in
Greg Burgess October fourth, Beautiful Piedmont, Alabama. Venissa's Foundation Crap
Run twenty twenty five. Great organization that Greg and his
wife Lisa. They have been bringing attention to this wonderful
foundation for years now. This is their big fundraiser and
you can be there with Greg and Speedy. They'll both

(01:58:02):
be there in downtown Piedmont October the fourth at seven pm.
Register by simply texting to our text option the word
events with an S, and you can register and be
there with them. To the phones, we go, Here we go.
This is the Rick Burgers show. You're on unscreened phone calls,
go right ahead, Hey.

Speaker 10 (01:58:21):
Greg Rick, good words.

Speaker 21 (01:58:24):
Hey, I was just gonna let you know that I've
been a very long time listener and love the show,
love what you guys do, love what you stand for.

Speaker 2 (01:58:33):
Thank you.

Speaker 8 (01:58:35):
All right?

Speaker 5 (01:58:36):
All right, so, uh, thank you, thank you, thank you
for We'll tell you there all right. Yeah, you know what,
that was one of those scary ones when someone's really really,
you know, being encouraging you're waiting for. But yeah, a
bunch of smart alec if I hear about bay Watch again.
Uh better mentioned No, thank you for that very kind
Rick Birger's show unscreen phone call.

Speaker 2 (01:58:57):
Go ahead, pig me boy. That's an oldie bit of goodie.
That's I had a conversation with my boys about that
the other day, about all the different meats that we
have eaten from animals. They're like, Dad, what animals have
you I was like, yeah, we had mystery meat and
these guys, see Larry and Mark, they would cook and

(01:59:18):
then we would just eat whatever they made. And it's
like and I of course did the Dell seasoning sauce.
That will make anything good. When I ran the list
of things I've eaten, they were like, what I know,
if you you know what's wild?

Speaker 4 (01:59:29):
What like crazy?

Speaker 5 (01:59:30):
List down at the farm. You know, we have a
pond and it's it's been real dry in Alabama. Hey,
we can't do nothing down here in planting the fields.
And she's dry some mummy's pocket. But anyway, a lot
of tracks around the pond, so many tracks because every
animal there is coming there for water.

Speaker 2 (01:59:47):
You know what.

Speaker 5 (01:59:48):
I can look down at those trascope Yep, I've eaten that.
I've eaten that. So the list, yeah, Rick Birders show,
unscreen phone calls.

Speaker 2 (01:59:57):
Go ahead.

Speaker 29 (02:00:00):
Maybe if you listen to w z z K and
the guy who does the hang on, I'm in the
car wash right now. The guy who does the traffic
when he says the city Silicaga, he says, it's Silicagua.

Speaker 2 (02:00:19):
You have to be making this AI. We've contracted this out. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:00:24):
Well, this is the thing with radio stations now.

Speaker 2 (02:00:27):
They're trying.

Speaker 5 (02:00:28):
They're all all big groups of them are owned by
like one company, and so they try to run like
you know, five, six, sometimes eight radio stations with four people,
and so they contract all this stuff out and people
voice track and people do these things from all over
the country, and a lot the problem is a lot
of times they don't know how to pronounce the local stuff,

(02:00:50):
and so uh, there's no telling where that traffic's coming from.
And it's just like the the person I think it's
in Hustle that keeps calling me Rick Burgess, Yeah, Rick Berger, it's.

Speaker 2 (02:01:00):
Yeah, same thing. It's just as someone out of market
that Rick Burgers show, unscreen phone calls. Go ahead, gentlemen.

Speaker 28 (02:01:07):
Great show was always two things real quick. The first
thing on YouTube TV. Yeah, when it goes to the
ed pills. I start laughing, But uh, I always wanted
to know out of all four of y'all if y'all
had it depends on the Bachelor to help y'all find
the wise out of all four of y'all, who do
y'all think would be the best candidate if y'all had
to be on that show to find true love?

Speaker 5 (02:01:27):
You of the of the four of us, which one
would have the best luck if we were all single?

Speaker 2 (02:01:33):
Single? To take care of that first?

Speaker 5 (02:01:35):
Ye?

Speaker 2 (02:01:35):
I don't know, right, Yeah, Speedy be tearing that sugarp
one camera.

Speaker 5 (02:01:41):
I would say, Speedy, I don't follow that. The Burgers
boys win, you know we're an acquired tass six weeks
won't do it?

Speaker 12 (02:01:50):
No, Greg would be the grumpy Golden past.

Speaker 2 (02:01:54):
It's like, what are you doing here? You want to
kiss me? Come on?

Speaker 4 (02:01:57):
I just want to be left alone. What I gotta
do to be left alone?

Speaker 2 (02:02:03):
Meeting?

Speaker 5 (02:02:03):
When you Speedy be tearing that your gro loved every
one of them with mister and missus Moner, I don't.

Speaker 23 (02:02:14):
Know, could have been working when you can't?

Speaker 5 (02:02:29):
You don't say that you look like making a lot
of smacking sounds like eating chicken.

Speaker 2 (02:02:36):
Well, look great guy.

Speaker 5 (02:02:37):
What we're forgetting is before Speedy was wearing he was
in an episode of Bacheler Just want a.

Speaker 2 (02:02:42):
TV show that's he's living. He watched this show and goes,
what is this? I just turned? The cap was basically
more like Rock of Love.

Speaker 5 (02:02:57):
Yeah, so oh wow, that was y What a transition
from that guy. Time about those commercials. Right now, we
continue Rick Burgess Show. Unscreened phone calls.

Speaker 30 (02:03:08):
Go ahead, Hey, gentlemen, how are you out? We're good man,
Hey man, got a question that's not gonna get anybody
in trouble. Hey, when you any of you guys, When
y'all guys listen to a sermon or a preacher, who's
somebody you you like to listen to at the moment.

Speaker 5 (02:03:23):
Well, that's not a hard I thought you were gonna
have something worse than that. Uh, you know I listened
to I still believe it or not. I haven't done
it in a while, but I will probably go back
to it. There was a time when I was going
through just about every sermon that Adrian Rodgers ever preached.
I mean, he's you know, he's passed on, but the

(02:03:43):
he has a podcast of all his past sermons.

Speaker 2 (02:03:47):
Fantastic. I read Oswald Chambers.

Speaker 5 (02:03:52):
Every day, who was a young pastor back in the
I think seventeen hundreds, with my utmost for his highest
I also like to live. Listened to.

Speaker 2 (02:04:03):
John MacArthur.

Speaker 5 (02:04:05):
I was just about to say, I've listened to a
good bit of his stuff, and then trying to think
also another one that you might know, because some of
them I listened to you may not know there.

Speaker 2 (02:04:18):
They don't have these giant platforms. They're just really good
Bible teachers.

Speaker 12 (02:04:21):
I didn't even know who John MacArthur was until he
stood up for church's rights to hold during COVID. I
had never even heard of him. Interesting, and then I
was like, this guy rocks. Oh way, he's also a
biblically sound this is amazing. Yeah, he rocks his.

Speaker 5 (02:04:34):
At the I've listened to Uh, I've listened to Matt Chandler.
Didn't he had a Texas Uh. I know he had.
He had a little bit of a rough patch, but
I mean I think he got through it. And I've
listened to some of his stuff. It's very good as well.
So those are those are something coming to mine the
I understand that uh driscol is back after all that

(02:04:57):
went on with that. That was a wild run.

Speaker 2 (02:05:00):
But I haven't heard what.

Speaker 5 (02:05:01):
He's doing now, but that was an interesting adventure. The
Mars Hill thing. Uh we continue Rick Birges's show unscreen
phone calls.

Speaker 2 (02:05:11):
Go ahead, y'all.

Speaker 9 (02:05:13):
Remember when the tornado is pretty much devastated Tuscaloosa in
the Birmingham area.

Speaker 6 (02:05:19):
Yes, so, uh.

Speaker 9 (02:05:21):
That was during Turkey season. My grandfather and I we're
in Ralph down there turkey hunting and we were at
the camper and was watching the news and they were saying,
you know, if you're in a mobile home or something
you need to take you need to get out, take cover.
And I'm young, and I looked at my granddad and
I said, Hey, what are we.

Speaker 2 (02:05:40):
Going to do?

Speaker 9 (02:05:41):
Ain't this like a mobile home?

Speaker 6 (02:05:42):
He said yep.

Speaker 9 (02:05:44):
He said we're going to go to play B. And
I said, well, what's playing B?

Speaker 15 (02:05:46):
Papa?

Speaker 9 (02:05:47):
And he said, turn around? Kiss?

Speaker 6 (02:05:49):
You asked goodbye?

Speaker 2 (02:05:52):
What a good It ended well for y'all.

Speaker 5 (02:05:56):
Obviously sounds like some Yeah, I actually have.

Speaker 2 (02:06:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:06:02):
By the way, somebody put on text I have to
I have been listening to Philip Anthony Mitchell. Another good one.
That's a new one that I've been listening to here
over the last several months another and he's a I
like his commitment to to truth. And you know, I
like any of these people that understand that the goal

(02:06:23):
isn't for me to be coming in, which is one
of the things they say. Into a service that constantly
tells me how awesome I am. I prefer to drift
to Bible teachers that tell me how awesome God is.
And even as Charlie Kirk said, the church is there
to correct me, not to affirm me.

Speaker 2 (02:06:41):
We'll be back.

Speaker 1 (02:06:42):
This is the Rick Burgess Show. We talked to the
public every day and trust us, you should be gravely concerned.

Speaker 2 (02:07:05):
The Rick Burgess Show America.

Speaker 5 (02:07:08):
Thank you for being with us today.

Speaker 2 (02:07:15):
So as we work our way back.

Speaker 5 (02:07:17):
Yes, someone reminded me, I never can remember the era
that Oswald Chambers actually lived in. It was actually he
was born in the eighteen hundreds and then died in
his forties in the early nineteen hundreds, actually in Cairo, Egypt,
fighting in World War One. So anyway, but his wife

(02:07:40):
had her sermon notes. Sherry talked about this. Sherry did
a post about this kind of using the analogy of
what Charlie Kirk's wife is doing and she said, you know,
think about these wives that have had to do this
throughout time. You know, Elizabeth Elliott being one when her
husband was killed, you know, by the very people he

(02:08:01):
was going to reach at a very young age. In
Oswald Chamber's wife who kept her notes from all his sermons.
And my humble opinion, which probably doesn't mean a whole lot,
but others agree which might help you more. It's one
of the best, if not the best, daily devotional, my utmost,
first highest, which I've mentioned on the show many times,

(02:08:22):
and really people asking about listening, I actually read more
of from great Bible teachers than I listened to because
usually that's when I have the most time. When I'm writing,
a lot of times I'm returning phone calls and things
like that, and so I like to take time and

(02:08:42):
just really immerse myself in it. Martin Lloyd Jones fantastic writings. J.

Speaker 2 (02:08:49):
C Ryle.

Speaker 5 (02:08:50):
You know, our pastor says, usually you're probably wise these
days if you don't have much time, don't read much
from me. Anybody who's still alive, go back and read
these great theologians that have that have passed on. Uh
and so Martin, Lloyd Jones, J. C. Rale great great read,

(02:09:12):
Oswald Chambers great read. Uh so so sure, And.

Speaker 12 (02:09:16):
When it helps that you're looking in the mirror when
you listen to Charles Spurgeon or read Charlesburg.

Speaker 5 (02:09:20):
The Charles Spurgeon stuff. I do love Spurgeon stuff. And
and every time somebody tells me that I look like
Charles Spurgeon always feels so bad for him. But with
the glasses off, and certainly I probably look more like
him than than I would somebody maybe who you know.
He always stayed just a little bit, uh. I mean,

(02:09:42):
he wasn't overly thin, and he liked a good cigar.
He was healthy, yeah, yeah, which drove some of his
colleagues crazy. They didn't like the fact that he was smoky.

Speaker 2 (02:09:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:09:53):
But anyway, so uh yeah, they were like it. There
was a big argument one time. I can't remember what
it was him with his cigars. One of his proteges,
not protegees, but one of his colleagues.

Speaker 2 (02:10:05):
Was it Royal? Was it J c Rawl?

Speaker 5 (02:10:07):
It might have been, but anyway, I can't remember, but
didn't one of them liked to go to the theater
and the other one liked to have a cigar and
they both thought the other one shouldn't do what they
were doing. Uh, which was interesting. So if if we
talk about Matthew McConaughey, what comes to mind speaking of
not so great theologians, but people that motivate people. I

(02:10:30):
put Matthew McConaughey in one of those places where you
know he'll talk, and I find myself intrigued by what
he said. But I'm not sure what he said. You know,
I talk about a lot about like vibes and stuff
I don't I don't know exactly what he said. I
kind of dug it. I think it had some depth
to it. I'm not sure the application. And if you

(02:10:52):
if I took a test on what he just said,
I would surely fail. But did you does that you
noticed that?

Speaker 2 (02:10:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:10:59):
Like and I And one time, he explained I saw
him recently on something that came up on a real
where he was talking about the way his parents were
and the way that they parented, and I thought, okay,
well that's probably that makes a little more sense. He
said they were a weird combination of you. You must

(02:11:20):
always keep yourself humble, but you should always be achieving
and achievement.

Speaker 2 (02:11:28):
Achiever.

Speaker 5 (02:11:30):
Achievement was important, but you could never talk about what
you had achieved. But you better be achieving, Okay, and
and yeah, and I'm oversimplifying it was. You know, it
was a lot more words than that. Well, today apparently
somebody is talking about He's written another book. He's got
a new book. And in the book, one of the

(02:11:53):
things he says that has been one of the best
things to keep his marriage of thirteen years healthy is
downsize from a king size to a queen sized bed.

Speaker 2 (02:12:03):
Oh, I don't know about that.

Speaker 5 (02:12:05):
Closer, he said, the best thing you can do for
your marriage. One way to surely get ahead is to
get rid of that king size mattress and sleep in
a queen sized bed. The smaller bed provides a more
fruitful connection.

Speaker 2 (02:12:23):
Bed size.

Speaker 12 (02:12:23):
He must, I mean no, no, that would make my
marriage worse. I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (02:12:28):
It's a book called Poems and Prayers.

Speaker 4 (02:12:32):
And I'm a small person. I'm a small person. I
require a king size.

Speaker 5 (02:12:38):
Well, let me tell you what Matthew McConaughey would say
about this. He said, I wake up one morning, I'm
looking over there at Camilla, and she's like a football
field away.

Speaker 14 (02:12:46):
Man.

Speaker 5 (02:12:47):
Then you go to bed at night like you want
to snuggle on and up and we got we've got
to cover you up and come about twelve feet over here,
and I'll come twelve feet toward you. You're like, man,
this dog one bed man is not good for my marriage. Man,
get rid of that son of that s O B.

Speaker 4 (02:13:05):
All right, all right, all right.

Speaker 5 (02:13:07):
And we got it. We got a queen size bed.
Now we shoulder to shoulder, all right, okay, all right, okay,
he's a But I see the word prayers and poems.
This was that would be interesting? Is that a prayer
you just read? Well, yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:13:26):
I didn't know.

Speaker 4 (02:13:27):
I don't know. He married a Brazilian sister.

Speaker 2 (02:13:31):
Yeah, Latina, you're.

Speaker 5 (02:13:33):
Just throwing just just just you and Speedy are reckless today.

Speaker 2 (02:13:37):
I'm just sitting.

Speaker 4 (02:13:38):
I just didn't know.

Speaker 5 (02:13:39):
Would you tell everybody you said, even though it's not great,
you said moan ers?

Speaker 2 (02:13:44):
Yeah what I what do you think I said?

Speaker 5 (02:13:46):
Some people text nation thought you said something something that
rhymes with it?

Speaker 2 (02:13:50):
Yes, oh yeah, I clearly had a m in the moan.
Not that that's great bone right, yeah, but so uh
like no other yeah. But now I will say this.
When Terry and I got married, I was the lightest sleeper.
If she just shifted into bed, I would wake up, Yes,

(02:14:13):
But over time that's kind of gone away. I mean,
I'll still wake up, but I mean it again, I'm
not saying that. I just I'm I'm a heavy sleeper
and never wake up. But budd let me tell you,
I could just if I heard anything, I was up
anything or felt anything like the bed move or whatever,
I would be.

Speaker 4 (02:14:31):
Up with the king size. You can meet in the
middle and then you can go your several ways.

Speaker 2 (02:14:36):
I did y'all know this?

Speaker 5 (02:14:39):
Back to Matthew McConaughey, did y'all did y'all know how
that some of the advertising they do for their tequila brands?

Speaker 2 (02:14:46):
Have you seen that?

Speaker 13 (02:14:48):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (02:14:49):
They they They're pantiless all the time, both of them.

Speaker 2 (02:14:52):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:14:54):
Is the Rick Burgess Show don't forget the Wednesday Bible

(02:15:26):

Show YouTube channel.

Speaker 2 (02:15:33):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:15:33):
The archive will be out soon after too, if you
can't make the live attempt. They're speaking of sleeping and
we were talking a lot going in sin. It's Matthew
McConaughey's new book Poems and Prayers or something like that,
finding out a lot of things about his marriage.

Speaker 2 (02:15:49):
I didn't know.

Speaker 5 (02:15:50):
I didn't know he and his wife have a tequila
brand that apparently has something to do I guess the
old country song tequila makes your clothes fall off.

Speaker 2 (02:15:58):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:15:59):
And he's discussing how you know the right tequila usually
ends up with them pantiless. And I didn't know they
took pictures together pantiless to promote their tequila.

Speaker 2 (02:16:08):
Ever knew that.

Speaker 5 (02:16:09):
And he talked about the queen size bed. We kind
of takes us too. Also, you got to have a
great pillow. My pillow my pillow dot com slash big vox.

think about quality, You think about the best pillow. I mean,

(02:16:29):
Got them down at camp House, Ye got. I mean,
it's it's the best pillow. And I remember being skeptical.
I can still remember when this product first came to
us and I was like, really, I mean, come on,

in on text Nation and they're they're talking about the

(02:18:20):
one guy said, well, Matthew McConaughey must not have sleep apnea,
because if you've got your spouse has a seapap you
ain't gonna sleep in a queen's size bed. So yeah, crazy,
anybody's still in the queen in here?

Speaker 2 (02:18:35):
How about this?

Speaker 5 (02:18:35):
Lisa and I the majority of our life was queen
and when I went with the Helix upgraded.

Speaker 2 (02:18:40):
Really yep. Sleep quiz.

Speaker 5 (02:18:42):
So do you agree that a queen size is perfectly
fine until you go to it? If you don't know
any difference, Now, there's no way that And then you
go back from the king, like go on vacation. Yeah,
and you go back from a king back to a queen.
The queen feels really small if you think you're in
a twin bed. Yeah, because to me, I understand what
Matthew McConaughey is saying. I truly do. But there's there's

(02:19:07):
snuggle time. I'll just leave it at that, and and
things that that may be involved beyond that. But when
it's time to go to sleep, yeah, I gotta have
some room.

Speaker 2 (02:19:18):
I mean where the dog is gonna sit. Oh my gosh,
Oh that's true. That's true.

Speaker 5 (02:19:25):
And the you dog can I tell those of you
that have dogs sleeping with you in the bed and
you don't and you don't let that, you don't ask
them to leave, and you don't remove them, you're sick people.

Speaker 2 (02:19:41):
Oh you're calling your brother sick. Well, I don't think.
I don't think he did what I was talking about.
Oh no, I'm talking about sleeping. Having them sleep with
you is weird. But I'm not going to have a watcher.
I remember talking.

Speaker 5 (02:19:59):
I remember talking to friends of mine and I asked
them the horrible question. I said, so the dogs stay
in your bed and in your bedroom all the time, right,
And I did, And I made the face as you
go all the time and they said yes.

Speaker 2 (02:20:16):
I said, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa whoa wow.

Speaker 5 (02:20:18):
And they said, well, Rick, sometimes things are spontaneous, they're
not planned. And I said, in the dogs have to
go through this. I know, I know that they may
not care if we're around, but we should care if
they're around. Yeah, And I said, so they're in the room.
It's terrible and I and I said, I really think
you should be arrested.

Speaker 2 (02:20:37):
Breaking the law.

Speaker 5 (02:20:38):
I think some kind of loss been broken. I don't
know what law it is.

Speaker 2 (02:20:41):
It was for the moan.

Speaker 5 (02:20:42):
The other day, I was bonefully, can we stop with
the word do not know?

Speaker 2 (02:20:46):
Can we stop the.

Speaker 4 (02:20:50):
Miserable?

Speaker 9 (02:20:51):
Right?

Speaker 2 (02:20:52):
But on the day I was born mother? I mean,
that's what I asked him that question text.

Speaker 5 (02:20:57):
Here is no other I asked, I asked text nations.
I asked my friend that question on text Nation. I said,
you ever been cold nosed?

Speaker 2 (02:21:05):
Oh, Richard, you're just talking way too much right now,
And sadly he said, yes, now you just made that.
Now you say, tell everybody you made it up. I
did not.

Speaker 5 (02:21:17):
Don't make me bring him on the show if we
hold up, Hang on, Freddy, So how about people I
forgot about some people say they're still in the full
size bed.

Speaker 4 (02:21:28):
Full is crazy full?

Speaker 2 (02:21:30):
Oh wow, the old son.

Speaker 4 (02:21:32):
All right, here's something really important.

Speaker 5 (02:21:34):
They're saying, Speedy, you look very guilty in this conversation.

Speaker 2 (02:21:37):
Of this conversation. Now, I'm not going to have like
I said, I'm not going to have a look around. Thiggs.
You got yeah, the way can you not add a
few more dollars? What you got it?

Speaker 7 (02:21:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:21:59):
I just said he's off.

Speaker 31 (02:22:05):
He was second, and then he said, wow, you don't
make me.

Speaker 24 (02:22:13):
Leave by stop it, Cuddy.

Speaker 2 (02:22:17):
This is Cuddy's such a bid.

Speaker 4 (02:22:31):
Don't look at me like that.

Speaker 11 (02:22:32):
Frank.

Speaker 2 (02:22:34):
Oh okay, now, oh mother, mother.

Speaker 32 (02:22:43):
No mother, to treat her right right, mother, I always
love her mother a right, here's all right, here's the moon, give.

Speaker 27 (02:22:56):
Me the moon.

Speaker 2 (02:22:58):
The miserable groan rondom thing that you a lyrics believing?
What a lyric? Okay, uh you can't write it no
better than that?

Speaker 20 (02:23:11):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (02:23:12):
Three let me tell you this three three four aera code.
They just text this. You're going to hell. Yeah, okay, yeah,
all right, So.

Speaker 2 (02:23:25):
You are my buddy, Greg, but don't nudge me and
cold knows me you've lost control of this show.

Speaker 31 (02:23:38):
I'm just sitting here right, treat that mama, right, you're
in it.

Speaker 5 (02:23:54):
Yeah, but now some of you, some of y'all take
this dogs in the house to a place. Yeah you're
talking about that, you know, to each his own. But
there's got to be boundaries, don't you think there's boundaries
at the whole human racial degree on? Oh yeah, that's
that's one, and I think we found one or.

Speaker 2 (02:24:16):
So forgot. Look, you look making each other like.

Speaker 5 (02:24:21):
You go to the van for the normal Hey, can
I step by son talk to you? The dog seems
very troubled because there's anything he's scared, be hit by
a car or something.

Speaker 2 (02:24:32):
He just seems like he's like, as is that anything.

Speaker 5 (02:24:37):
That happened to him?

Speaker 2 (02:24:39):
All right, we'll be right back. Stay close.

Speaker 1 (02:24:45):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, only in America. Could
these four men do this for a living? God bless America.

(02:25:08):
This is the wick budget.

Speaker 5 (02:25:11):
Shows, and America hangs out here every day and we
sure do have a good time.

Speaker 6 (02:25:15):
Thank you guys.

Speaker 2 (02:25:18):
Staying updated but.

Speaker 5 (02:25:19):
Having a little fun along the way as well, and
and we thank you for that. So now on the
not so fun notes, we do have more updates on
the shooting on the ice facility in Dallas, Texas. Looks
like that. We do have, unfortunately, some fatalities. They're saying

(02:25:42):
that no Ice agents have been shot, but unfortunately some
migrants have. Is that correct.

Speaker 2 (02:25:49):
Yes. They're saying that the sniper killed at least one
migrant and wounded several others. There might be other fatalities
as well that haven't been confirmed. They're saying, when authorities were,
I guess pinned him in and we're getting to him,
the alleged sniper shot himself dead. They're calling it a

(02:26:11):
blood bath at the facility there in Texas. UH. And
the Dallas Police Department told Daily Mail in a statement
that two people were taking to the hospital with the
with gunshots. One victim died at the scene. UH. And
they're they're also saying in Fox News is reporting that
it looks like they were the detainees were being transferred

(02:26:33):
into the facility and the shooter. Uh. Is that that's
when the shooter opened fire. Uh So I don't. I
don't know. That's kind of really all we have. If
it was a targeted attack or if it was just hey,
I'm shooting in that direction, I have I don't know,
but we can't confirm no law enforcement officers were injured.

Speaker 5 (02:26:51):
So I guess you could you know, you could speculate
crazy shooter, just shooting shooter trying to shoot at ICE
agents but hits migrants, someone targeting migrants correct, could be cartel,
could it could be it could be really use. I
don't think the cartel. The guy would take his own life, though,

(02:27:12):
you or you know, it seems unlikely. Yeah, you know,
maybe there was somebody they didn't want to be questioned,
you know, so they tried to kill them as they
were bringing them in. I don't know, you know, And
it seems like these ICE facilities have been a target
here of late. There's been a number of reports on
bomb threads and different things going on, and so this

(02:27:33):
is just add this to the list. So but there's
still details that we need before reporting two more, but
we can at least confirm what we've said. Okay, So
there we go a couple of more Hey burges here,
females roll and.

Speaker 24 (02:27:48):
Then but we ain't turning back Big Fox in the house.
We're turning it loud. The Rick Burgess show was rocking
the crowd.

Speaker 5 (02:27:56):
Come question again. Stags getting to them as quick as
we can.

Speaker 4 (02:28:03):
We're innswering them all.

Speaker 5 (02:28:04):
Hey, busy bus what's the words to day the big
box in the studio over here? So here's a couple
of hay Burges that are simple, and I'm getting more
of these. You remember the guy that sent us a
hay bird was it? Was it yesterday or the day before? Hey,
I want to come watch the show. I'm in Indiana.
I can't give my wife and want to do it now.
We have other husbands that are near this guy that

(02:28:25):
are saying, Hey, I can't get my wife to go either,
Let's ride together.

Speaker 2 (02:28:29):
Oh okay. Besides the fact there's a total stranger.

Speaker 5 (02:28:32):
Or a pool other than that Hayburg hay birge. I
I don't know where this listener from Indiana wash, but
I'm not far from him. I'm in southern Illinois. I
also have a wife that's not interested in making a
trip to watch a show, but I am. So if
I could find somebody near me to ride with, I'd
say we make it a guide trip. This is Chris,

(02:28:52):
so I watch. You may get halfway through the trip
and realize they don't like each other.

Speaker 2 (02:28:56):
Well, Greg, that's a risk. It is. It's a risky
you have the show in common. So there's a lot
of talk there. I don't know how far that talk takes.

Speaker 9 (02:29:03):
You.

Speaker 2 (02:29:04):
Hope nobody stinks, Well, you'll go to smelling. Okay, so
you got a long trip with somebody you just met
and they stink. What do you I'm just saying these things.
You got a problem, now, that's true. You got to
consider things.

Speaker 5 (02:29:18):
Rick, all right, if I smoke from the text line
on last segments, topic one of ours barked at us.

Speaker 2 (02:29:25):
That was the last time.

Speaker 5 (02:29:27):
Okay, somebody else should be arrested or something. Fine, Okay, uh,
hey bird, hey Burge. You're thinking about grandparent names. Here's
what I'm thinking. Lolly and pop. Okay, I mean, can
you imagine a grandparents name that.

Speaker 2 (02:29:49):
Lollipop? Yes? What took you that long?

Speaker 4 (02:29:54):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (02:29:54):
Lollipop?

Speaker 4 (02:29:56):
Yeah, lollipop.

Speaker 5 (02:29:57):
I don't think that's pop. I don't think that's for me.
I'm just saying, okay, I mean to eat you.

Speaker 4 (02:30:03):
It's pretty good popping tart or something.

Speaker 9 (02:30:07):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (02:30:07):
If you don't want to call Grandma tart. Never mind.

Speaker 5 (02:30:10):
This is really spiraling out of control, isn't it. Hey Birch,
Hey Burge, So hay Bird, whenever, please, When are you
going to fix commercial airlines?

Speaker 2 (02:30:21):
You keep talking about it.

Speaker 5 (02:30:22):
I'm stuck on an airplane an hour and a half
on the tarmac, not even able to take off because
of what they're saying is our gusty winds. I've been
in the back country of Colorado for five days and
I just want to get home. My flight here went smooth.
I got back to the airport today, got through security
with zero hassle, and here it comes, got on the
plane and then I made the ultimate mistake.

Speaker 2 (02:30:44):
And what was it?

Speaker 5 (02:30:45):
Thought they were, I'm going I have something. I thought
I could have something. First mistake. Hey, you cannot have nothing.
Can you fix these airlines? I mean asap. That's Stephen
from Kentucky. So help us feeling Spirit airlines? They've laid
off eighteen hundred pet Oh wow. So I'm sure that'll
just make that all run just even smoother. They said
it less is more right? Hey bird, Hey birge, I

(02:31:09):
got a problem. See what you guys have come up with.
My wife of four years enjoy shopping most women do.
When we were dating, I told her that I enjoyed
going to the antique stores with her.

Speaker 2 (02:31:23):
Well, they was dating her.

Speaker 5 (02:31:24):
Now that we're married, we've accumulated a lot of antiques.
Oh yeah, yep, We've got two sheds full of decorations
and such. When I go to antique stores with my
wife now, I have no interest in going in at all.
It's all just junk to me now, and I don't
care for anything about it. My wife still thinks I
enjoy going to these antique stores because I use that
when I was dating her. Oh no, I enjoyed being

(02:31:45):
with my beautiful wife, don't get me wrong, love every
minute with her. Should I tell her that I don't
really enjoy going to antique stores that was just part
of me trying to win her over while we were dating.
Or do I just grint and bury it, I say,
tell her, going to these stories junk all around.

Speaker 2 (02:32:00):
It just drains me.

Speaker 5 (02:32:02):
I'm junk around, anonymous. This is the problem when you
fake something while dating. You know, there's been women we
talked about it back on the Rick and Bubba days
that fake football and then their husband thinks they really
want to watch football with them. They have to come
clean and say I just did that because I was
trying to you know. So he played the antique card

(02:32:25):
trying to win her over.

Speaker 2 (02:32:26):
It worked. They're married.

Speaker 5 (02:32:28):
Now he's stuck going to antique stores.

Speaker 2 (02:32:30):
And let me tell you this. You go to an
antique store, there's no in and out wolf. You got
to browse. You're going to brows like you've browsed before.
So much browsing because they don't know what's in there.

Speaker 5 (02:32:41):
I gotta go see maybe something I like, Maybe not right,
you know, that's a whole new deal some brows. I mean,
you mighty as well get comfortable. You're gonna be that
if you go to an antique store. You don't ever say,
here's what I'm going in for, because you never let
me go get this antique lamp real quick. No, you
don't do that.

Speaker 2 (02:32:56):
You ever find an old chair and just sit down?

Speaker 5 (02:32:57):
I just wait on a lot of them. Mil chairs
are pretty comfort. Or an old school desk you ever said.

Speaker 2 (02:33:01):
In one of them?

Speaker 5 (02:33:02):
Oh yeah, would you bring in your house with haintsilt
in the drawers? I'm not scared to school desk for
some reason. But mirrors in that mirror? Now, what about
a dresser? Yeah? How about a wardrobe? Ooh h, so
about the combo's got a mirror on it? But his
question to us is does he tell his wife now?

Speaker 2 (02:33:20):
I think how long they've been married?

Speaker 5 (02:33:21):
He didn't say, a boy, you.

Speaker 2 (02:33:22):
Gotta be careful.

Speaker 12 (02:33:23):
You got to tell my wife thought I enjoyed decorating
Christmas trees for a couple of years. There, you got
to You gotta come out of the closet and tell.
And I came out of these And how did.

Speaker 2 (02:33:34):
She take it?

Speaker 4 (02:33:34):
It was fine, she understood.

Speaker 5 (02:33:36):
Did you did you explain I was just trying to
make you like me.

Speaker 12 (02:33:40):
Yeah, yeah, I didn't. I didn't mean to give you
that impression that I enjoy doing this.

Speaker 5 (02:33:44):
Do you think is there a way that he could
somehow spend this where his wife is flattering and goes, oh,
that's so sweet for him to say, you know what,
I was just struck with you, and I didn't care
about antique stories, but I pretended I did because I
wanted you to fall in love with me. Can I
be released from this now? I think it'll kind of
make her feel good until the next time she wants

(02:34:05):
to go just.

Speaker 2 (02:34:05):
Be a little bit more gentle. I think the way
you say it is everything.

Speaker 5 (02:34:10):
You could almost get all that sweet out of it
and be out of antique stores.

Speaker 2 (02:34:13):
But you're gonna have to be careful. That's the route
to go. Yep. Or you could play swing, or you
could play a game and go okay, let's come clean.
What's there something that I make you do that you
don't really care about? And then she says, oh, what football?
I don't like football? And you go, okay, well, I
don't really care about going to antique store? Did I know?
I like I did, but I did? Yeah, careful, it

(02:34:34):
lasts as long as the football.

Speaker 12 (02:34:36):
Right, you would be careful asking that question though you
really do you know what that may say?

Speaker 5 (02:34:41):
I know I acted like I was okay with the
dogs in here, but I'm not.

Speaker 2 (02:34:43):
Yeah, right, whatever the time of the hour.

Speaker 1 (02:34:46):
This is the Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 2 (02:34:50):
Oh we gotta find.

Speaker 1 (02:35:07):
Broadcasting from the world The Rick Burgess Show.

Speaker 5 (02:35:13):
All right, here we go keep it in real every
day here on the program, trying to be sure that
we all can find our feet on solid ground. Yeah, preparing,
having a great time getting.

Speaker 2 (02:35:27):
Updated on what we need.

Speaker 5 (02:35:28):
Speedy, Greg Adler, the gang is all here. If you're willing,
we are, Let's roll through another hour together on The
Rick Burgess Show. You ready, let's go there? Okay, So
as we start this hour, some of the things on
this particular hour we will go back and revisit because

(02:35:52):
it was so long ago in real time when we
talked about this. Know that we have covered Jimmy Kimmel
going back on the air last night. We have not
played any of the clips. We do have those. Ada
has those and be interesting when we do a phone

(02:36:12):
segment at this hour to get your feedback any of
you who watch or care about this show or even
this story. It's a big story because it's led to
a lot of conversations across America about you know, repercussions
to things we say involving a private employer versus you know,

(02:36:34):
public arena and all of this. But anyway, so Kimmel
was allowed back on the air by Disney last night.
Adler seven, A and B here, and he did get
up and say a few words, and some people say
he didn't go far enough. Some people are saying, I

(02:36:55):
guess he did what he needed to do. You know,
lots of affiliates Senla and I believe Next Star was
that the other one. They did not clear his show
last night on their feelies. I think it's about a
third of the one all the ones that he has,
because they were not satisfied up to this point. I
don't know if this will satisfy them. They were demanding
a public apology. So here is Jimmy Kimmel, courtesy of

(02:37:18):
The Jimmy Kimmel Show and saying that he was moved
watching Erica Kirk.

Speaker 11 (02:37:27):
A moment over the weekend, a very beautiful moment. I
don't know if he saw this on Sunday, Erica Kirk
forgave the man who shot her husband. She forgave him.
That is an example we should follow if you believe
in the teachings of Jesus as I do. There it was,

(02:37:50):
that's that's it, a selfless act of grace forgiveness from
a grieving widow. It touched me deeply.

Speaker 2 (02:37:59):
And I hope that.

Speaker 15 (02:38:03):
It touches money.

Speaker 11 (02:38:04):
And if there's anything we should take from this tragedy
to carry forward, I hope it can be that.

Speaker 2 (02:38:10):
I agree.

Speaker 5 (02:38:11):
Yeah, and and and now, really it really means a
lot watching how Jimmy has, you know, practiced that in
his own life. He's always really forgiving of those he
doesn't agree with. Yes, So let's go to seven B here.
So he now addresses what he got in trouble for now,
he does leave out a very important element in the

(02:38:33):
comments that got him in trouble. But here is sort
of an attempt, kinda to apologize but yet not fully
apologize for.

Speaker 2 (02:38:42):
What he said. So here we go.

Speaker 11 (02:38:44):
I don't think what I have to say is going
to make much of a difference. If you like me,
like me. If you don't, you don't. I have no
illusions about changing anyone's mind, but I do want to
make something clear because it's important to me as a human,
and that is you understand that it was never my
intention to make light of the murder.

Speaker 2 (02:39:00):
Of a young man.

Speaker 11 (02:39:02):
I don't think there's only being funny about it. I
posted a message on Instagram and the days killed, sending
love to his family and asking for a compassion, and
I meant it.

Speaker 2 (02:39:15):
I still do.

Speaker 11 (02:39:17):
Nor was it my intention to blame any specific group
for the actions of what it was obviously a deeply
disturbed individual. That was really the opposite of the point
I was trying to make. But I understand that to
some that felt either ill timed or unclear, or maybe both.
And for those who think I did point a finger,
I get why you're upset. If the situation was reversed,

(02:39:38):
there was a good chance I'd have felt the same way.

Speaker 2 (02:39:41):
Well, buddy, well what do you think?

Speaker 4 (02:39:44):
But that's what he did, and he did it on purpose.

Speaker 12 (02:39:46):
He was He clearly said, you're trying to paint this
shooter as anything other than Maga in one of their
own he clearly said. And it wasn't like he didn't
have time. It wasn't like this was right after it
occurred or anything like that. He had five days before
he made that comment. He knew what he was doing,
he knew what he was saying. And here he's trying
to weasel out of it and say, oh, I'm sorry.

(02:40:07):
If some of y'all thought it was unclear, it wasn't unclear.

Speaker 4 (02:40:10):
It was crystal clear.

Speaker 2 (02:40:11):
That's the classic apology. If you were offended by what
I said, I'm sorry, not just hey, I shouldn't have
said it. I never should have worded it that way.
I'm sorry. I'm at fault, and I apologize to the
Kirk family and everybody that had offended. And instead of going, well,
if you took it that way, I'm sorry. You know
that's kind right, You know what I mean? It's so

(02:40:33):
but whatever.

Speaker 5 (02:40:33):
So y'all's problem is that y'all had a real issue
with him saying it was never mind tension to blame
a group of people for.

Speaker 2 (02:40:44):
It, right, But that's exactly what he did, right.

Speaker 5 (02:40:47):
That's what I'm just I'm clear he's trying to say that.
I know some of you may interpret it that way,
but that wasn't what I was trying to say. And
we're saying, but that is what you said. It's exactly
what you said there was.

Speaker 2 (02:40:59):
I mean, how else to.

Speaker 5 (02:41:00):
So the better apology would have been I understand that
I was angry. I understand that I painted this shooter
to be part of MAGA. Obviously that was incorrect and
I should not have done that.

Speaker 2 (02:41:13):
My only question call it a day.

Speaker 5 (02:41:14):
That's actually my only question would be where did you
get your information that made you have that opinion?

Speaker 2 (02:41:19):
Right? Because it was every it was not a secret
and by that time, right, I'm.

Speaker 5 (02:41:23):
Just curious, how was he still heard him say a
lot more offensive things than this, you know, to be honest,
I'm just curious now, because you knew you were going
to be called on it, where did you get your info?

Speaker 2 (02:41:34):
You must have thought you were wrong because at the
time of the taping. They knew who this kid was.
That's what I'm saying. So I don't know, I don't.
I'm from the beginning.

Speaker 5 (02:41:41):
I've never understood where he got his information to make
that statement, because it became pretty crystal clear what the
shooter's intention was and why the shooter wanted to kill
Charlie Kirk. That really didn't seem like that was a
gray area.

Speaker 4 (02:41:56):
No, it wasn't.

Speaker 5 (02:41:57):
And he comes on the air as if there's some
narrative that might still be there that had already been refuted.

Speaker 12 (02:42:05):
Here's the here's right, here's the comment just so we're
not twisting his work.

Speaker 11 (02:42:09):
We get some new lows over the weekend with the
Magga Gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered
Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and
everything they can to score political points from it.

Speaker 4 (02:42:22):
That's it.

Speaker 12 (02:42:23):
That's crystal clear, buddy, you knew what you were doing.
You knew what you were doing, and.

Speaker 5 (02:42:29):
If you don't get in trouble, we don't get this commentary, right.
Don't you think you're right?

Speaker 2 (02:42:34):
So hmmm.

Speaker 5 (02:42:36):
They did say though, that after once again squalling on
a show. He has been contacted for some reason. He
keeps getting emails from Frank Thomas to call it. So uh,
but anyway, them that will seek you later, that's one
of those who later I thought at first has something
to be batting. So anyway, I mean, I don't think

(02:43:01):
this is something it's interesting to talk about.

Speaker 2 (02:43:04):
But I would be shocked if there's.

Speaker 5 (02:43:07):
That many people, especially in this audience, that give two
cents what Jimmy Kimmel thinks about anything.

Speaker 2 (02:43:12):
That's my point to me is it's really I.

Speaker 5 (02:43:16):
Was just curious something because I'm thinking, surely you realize
that they could dispute your statement immediately.

Speaker 2 (02:43:21):
It wasn't even though it wasn't.

Speaker 5 (02:43:22):
Even profounder really, and like I said, I've heard him
say a lot worse things. Well, you're right, he really
shows a kind of a flaw in his psyche, in
his just awareness.

Speaker 2 (02:43:35):
I mean of show prep. How about that? Right, Hey,
here's what they're saying.

Speaker 5 (02:43:39):
Where the saying where was the person that called Jimmy
over Gregg to your point and go, hey, jim no
one's saying that. Yeah, it's pretty obvious political time. Yeah,
if you want to, you know, I don't want to know,
why is this in our script? Yeah, or maybe he
went off the cuff, you know, but because surely there
was somebody if you were sitting in the meeting and
I said, all right, guys, and here's what I'm going

(02:43:59):
to say in and open.

Speaker 2 (02:44:00):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (02:44:01):
We reached some new lows over the weekend, and one
of you would have said, hey, man, look I'm with you.
I'm anti Trump and all this and we're all big
team here. But no one has even remotely suggested he
was part of the MAGA group, not with any sense,
not with any sins. Now, we did have the one
guy that throughout the theory that one of Charlie Kirk's supporters,
actually we'll get that accidentally, and that was shooting in

(02:44:22):
the air for celebrate what out of.

Speaker 4 (02:44:23):
Celebration, right, because this is a Western and we do that.

Speaker 2 (02:44:29):
Yeah. Huge, it was right out of the gate. I
heard it.

Speaker 5 (02:44:32):
I didn't hear it live. And on the playback I
came across Charlie Sheen and Joe Rogan, Yes, when they
announced it, and that quick somebody threw out that, well,
might be somebody shooting the gun and they were one
of his supporters, right, I mean, right of the Gate. Yeah,
I'm like, I bet Rogan was like, have you lost
your Oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (02:44:49):
It was.

Speaker 4 (02:44:51):
Both of those guys.

Speaker 12 (02:44:52):
Rogan's obviously learned leaned a lot more conservative as the
radical left has ran towards the left. You kind of
find yourself, Oh now I'm have much more in common
with conservatives now. Charlie Sheen obviously not like an outspoken
conservative or anything like that, but people are just talking
about like, okay, they were just people that got this
terrible news and they reacted to it like humans. And

(02:45:13):
that's like, that's like the low bar that we now
have as a society, like are you sad when people
are murdered?

Speaker 4 (02:45:19):
You are okay?

Speaker 10 (02:45:20):
Good?

Speaker 4 (02:45:21):
We can find common.

Speaker 5 (02:45:22):
Ground the fact that we have to acknowledge that and
look for it.

Speaker 12 (02:45:25):
The Sinclair Next Star all that controversy, they approached Jimmy
and we're like, hey, buddy, you were out of line,
you lied here. Can you do anything about that? Can
you apologize? And Jimmy was taken off the air because
he was going to double down. He outwardly said, no,
I'm gonna keep going that direction.

Speaker 1 (02:45:43):
Is The Rick Burgess Show the home of Greg Burcher's

(02:46:08):
America's Life coach the Rick Burchers Show.

Speaker 2 (02:46:12):
Here we go, Here we go, Here we go.

Speaker 5 (02:46:16):
Thank you for being with us today America. Anybody got
a house out there you need to move in a
hurry you're in Uh, yeah, you got an issue. M
Oh you just found out the company's moving you to
another place.

Speaker 2 (02:46:30):
Wow, what a hassle.

Speaker 26 (02:46:32):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (02:46:32):
But you could call our friends at sell my house fast.

Speaker 26 (02:46:36):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (02:46:36):
They'll take care of it. They'll jump in. You won't
be paying any sort of commission to a real estate agent.
They'll take care of it. Get your fair price, get
you the cash, let's keep moving. Maybe you've inherited property
that you that you didn't expect and you're like, wow,
so uh, mama's house is like in another state. Uh,
and it's maybe it needs some repair, maybe needs things moved.

Speaker 2 (02:46:59):
They'll do all all that too.

Speaker 31 (02:47:00):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (02:47:01):
Boy they get They get a great, great rating on Google,
five star reviews everywhere. So look at that fair. The
process is transparent. Call him now one eight hundred seven
three four zero five zero four one eight hundred seventy
three four zero five zero four. Also find that number

(02:47:21):
by going to Rick Burgessshow dot com under sponsors and
let's get this hassle out of your life and.

Speaker 2 (02:47:28):
And move on.

Speaker 5 (02:47:30):
Babbel I and b having fun with the Jimmy Kimmel
thing too, that I've seen this headline several times and
y'all sent it to us as well. ABC brings Jimmy
Kimmel back so they can fire him for.

Speaker 2 (02:47:40):
Just not being funny.

Speaker 5 (02:47:42):
So like, I haven't seen any of these shows in
so long, but I don't I haven't heard Rarely, rarely
do I have people stop me in the hats.

Speaker 2 (02:47:53):
Oh did you Jimmy Kimel did? It was so funny?

Speaker 5 (02:47:58):
Yeah, you know, I'm not saying it never happen, And
I'm just I don't hear much of that. So most
people say that he it was kind of what Johnny
Carson warned the late night host about. Like I said
a few days ago, he was pressed on this by
Chris Wallace on Sixty Minutes sixty Minutes back when he
was still doing the show, I think he was in
the seventies, and he said this is a mistake that

(02:48:18):
he said, if I get out there and start getting
opinionated on politics and all that, the show will then
become that and I'll start elevating myself to thinking everybody
needs to think the way I think. And let me
let me tell you tonight, I got something I want
to say about this, And he said, I don't think
that's the role of late night entertainment. It's supposed to

(02:48:40):
be entertaining, and it's supposed to be funny and interview
interesting people and that kind of stuff.

Speaker 2 (02:48:46):
That's our role.

Speaker 5 (02:48:48):
And you know, you see what it causes, because you know,
once you start that, then it kind of I mean,
we had it happen here to it agree, you know,
back when we were doing that, I felt like we
got to going down that road toward the end of
the Rick and Bubba Show, and I was like, Okay, this,
this feels like that this we do this more than
anything else.

Speaker 2 (02:49:09):
And frankly, I don't.

Speaker 5 (02:49:11):
Think it's overly enjoyable for people when they're you know,
watching and listening. I think, you know, hey, something's happened.
Let's all talk about it. I think that's great. And
I have been as guilty of that too, and I'm
enjoying that we're kind of back to saying let's let's
have fun more than anything and we'll update you on
what's happening. But I certainly don't want to turn into

(02:49:32):
a twenty four to seven news station because frankly, I
can't even watch that stuff myself anymore. And you certainly
don't want to turn on your late night entertainment show
and be lecturing on this stuff or just you know,
continue to make these same points over and over and
over and over again.

Speaker 2 (02:49:47):
Okay, we had it.

Speaker 5 (02:49:48):
Well, I tell you, every point needs to be made,
was made in ten minutes, and it's forty five minutes later,
and we're still talking about it. Sure, and everybody keeps
saying the same thing over And that's what I told
Terry last night. We turned the TV on and I said, hey,
I I tell you I've been following news all day.
I really don't want to sit here and this again
or whatever. So we went to Gunsmoke and we enjoyed it.

Speaker 2 (02:50:06):
There you go. I don't watch them. I really don't
love that.

Speaker 5 (02:50:09):
And if I watch Cowboys, yeah, by the Bay especially
it was Mike Wallace, yea, Chris Wallace was his son,
Mike Wallace, but Wallace, remember they used to be do
the funny bit. The worst thing that can happen is
look out on your front porch and Mike Wallace this.

Speaker 2 (02:50:19):
Down the house.

Speaker 5 (02:50:20):
Oh but but yeah, Now, when I want to watch
the news, honestly, I'll be straight up. I know they're
very successful, and more power to them. When Ted Turner
started this twenty four hour you know, seven days a week.

Speaker 2 (02:50:33):
News, there's not enough news. It's crazy repetitive. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:50:38):
Uh, and I don't know that it calls for twenty
four to seven.

Speaker 13 (02:50:42):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (02:50:42):
You know in sports is the same way. Let's go
to the next show and they run down the same
highlights and the same stories, because I mean, I don't
think enough happens on one topic to warrant twenty four
to seven on one topic.

Speaker 2 (02:50:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (02:50:56):
And so usually what I do if I don't know
what's happened in the world, there's no major story that
I like is breaking news breaking, I'll go on to
a new source and I'll spend it doesn't take long,
about ten minutes, and in the ten minutes, I know
everything I need to know, and I turn it off.
And then some days I don't go there because I've
been doing this so I know everything.

Speaker 2 (02:51:18):
Yeah, right, That's kind of what I have told you.
Finger On I was like, man, yeah, been in it
all day. Yeah, and I think that's I think that's
the problem we have.

Speaker 5 (02:51:27):
I think that's a version like why social media can
be so damaging is you just get trapped in this
echo chamber and you get trapped in this world, and
it just it's the reason why people are so depressed
and people I think are mentally struggling so much. Is
you know, if you set down and you said, I,

(02:51:50):
you know, I like ice cream and somebody said, okay, well,
why don't you drink it and eat it for the
next twelve hours? Who I mean, you would go, I
don't need to do that.

Speaker 2 (02:51:59):
But yet, yeah, we'll.

Speaker 5 (02:52:00):
We'll lock ourselves in these in these echo chambers for
hours and hours and hours on end, when probably we
just needed to get a little update. Move on, go outside,
let the sunshine on you. Hey, have a laugh or two.
Pick a rock, yeah, cut up a little bit, skip
a rock, you know, I mean, do something, touch grass? Yeah,

(02:52:21):
and uh and and so so yeah, so yeah, And
we've been guilty of it too, we have, but but
we've we've we've tried to do a better job about
you know, moving and keeping and going and doing.

Speaker 2 (02:52:33):
Things like that.

Speaker 5 (02:52:34):
So so and and when we do it, you know,
we come back after the show and go, eh, we
probably let we were doing great. We got to going
down that way. It can happen no matter what subject. Yeah, so,
so it can happen.

Speaker 2 (02:52:44):
Did you did you see this Babylon be It's one
of the better ones. Yeah, I did.

Speaker 5 (02:52:48):
I think I mentioned I think I mentioned it A yeah,
I think I did AOC and I think I was
off there.

Speaker 2 (02:52:53):
I think we were just talking. Okay.

Speaker 5 (02:52:55):
AOC loses debate against cardboard cutout of Charlie kirk Man that.

Speaker 2 (02:53:01):
They don't miss God, they don't.

Speaker 5 (02:53:02):
Miss good night. That's a good one. Uh so, uh yeah,
that one was.

Speaker 2 (02:53:09):
One that really really made me laugh when I saw it.
We'll be back.

Speaker 5 (02:53:13):
When we come back, we'll continue to move through what's
left for today, including all of you out there who
might want to weigh in. And that's always unpredictable, it's
always fun.

Speaker 2 (02:53:29):
Sometimes it's odd.

Speaker 5 (02:53:32):
That's unscreen phone calls and we'll open up those lines
to you when we come back.

Speaker 2 (02:53:35):
Stay close.

Speaker 1 (02:53:38):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, No. The Most Dangerous
ten minutes in radio on screen. The phone calls get

Hey, Rick, how you doing today?

Speaker 2 (02:58:35):
I'm good. I hope you're all right.

Speaker 10 (02:58:37):
Hey, outstanding if not too bad for old fat man.

Speaker 6 (02:58:40):
Hey.

Speaker 10 (02:58:41):
I want to let you and Greg know that after
your father retired from coaching, I had the opportunity to
work with him in the sporting goods business.

Speaker 29 (02:58:48):
Wow, boy, and that was a joy.

Speaker 10 (02:58:52):
I loved him to death. I loved Jamama. She was
just such a sweet lady. But I want to tell
you a quick story about your day. It was right
after he started working for US Alabama already game du
Boats was coaching, and they threw a pass late in
the game. The running back fumbled, Auburn recovered Kiki gold Winborow.

Speaker 2 (02:59:13):
Yeah I remember that. Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 10 (02:59:16):
I asked your dad. I said, Hey, if you was coaching,
what would you do? He said, I ain't sure. I'm
the one you need to ask because the last coaching
job I had, I got my butt bird.

Speaker 5 (02:59:25):
From no doubt, that's it. Uh well, the first thing
that that was a pretty easy answer for him. One
thing he wouldn't do is throw the balls that'd be
called for to pass, which he was not a big
fan of. Now we continue Rick Birder's show. Unscreen phone
calls go ahead.

Speaker 8 (02:59:44):
Hey Rick, Hey hadn't been able to listen much today,
but caught a show the other day and y'all was
talking about a lightning strike.

Speaker 2 (02:59:51):
Yep, Yeah, My grandfather.

Speaker 8 (02:59:53):
Was struck by lightning in nineteen thirty seven. They were
plowing outside and they came in the house and he
goes over by the fireplace and puts his foot on
the hearth of the fireplace. Lightning struck that cotton picking
chimney and he fell dead right there in front of everybody.
My grandmother had nine children to raise by yourself in

(03:00:15):
nineteen thirty seven. So the point of the story is
be ready to go because you can go inside or
outside when it comes to lightning.

Speaker 5 (03:00:24):
Thank you for your uplifting story.

Speaker 2 (03:00:27):
And uh wow, not high good happen though, that's right.
Thank the timing.

Speaker 5 (03:00:33):
I'm gonna take you my chances inside better than outside. Sure,
thank you got a better shot here if you get
help that you may not. Can you know what I
will do though? I will keep my feet off the
hearth during the storm?

Speaker 2 (03:00:43):
Yeah? Uh?

Speaker 5 (03:00:44):
We continue Rick Burder's show.

Speaker 21 (03:00:48):
Hey, Hey, guys, good marning. Hey, Hey's two quick things. First,
I'm gonna ask are y'all gonna have Brandon Lake on
the on the show when he comes into town? And uh?
And two, when you I was talking last week on
the Crackers, I don't know if y'all know this, but
I lived next door to a guy who owned a
lance route and everything, and the knee cots that y'all

(03:01:10):
were talking about that actually was a malfunction. The guy
who going had one job was supposed to been spelled
token and he put it in backwards and they just
left it at that.

Speaker 2 (03:01:21):
You're making that up?

Speaker 6 (03:01:22):
That true?

Speaker 2 (03:01:25):
Are you like an urban legend? Urban legend?

Speaker 21 (03:01:29):
I'm one hundred per cent serious. That's what my neighbor.
I'm pt five, so I spent a long time, but
he told me that that.

Speaker 5 (03:01:35):
Was why that was spelled Well, neighbor, is it probably
my granddad?

Speaker 2 (03:01:39):
He's messing with you?

Speaker 26 (03:01:41):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (03:01:42):
Quick? Google.

Speaker 4 (03:01:44):
He's right.

Speaker 12 (03:01:44):
In the early twentieth century, Lance added a twist to
the popular cookie called token and they called it knee
caught instead or token spelled backwards.

Speaker 5 (03:01:53):
But did they do it on purpose? It on purpose?

Speaker 4 (03:01:55):
That is on purpose?

Speaker 5 (03:01:56):
Okay this guy said it was a mistake. Okay, yeah, accident,
and then somebody added the mistake to make it shore.

Speaker 2 (03:02:02):
Yeah, yeah you know that.

Speaker 4 (03:02:04):
Come on, and Brandon Lake's in Birmingham November sixth, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:02:08):
Yeah, yeah, I don't We don't know of any opportunities.
He's going to do a one on one. Yeah, and
so we'll see uh Rick Burger's show on the screen.
Phone calls go ahead.

Speaker 9 (03:02:19):
Hey guys, and Spike from Jersey, how you doing it?

Speaker 2 (03:02:22):
Yeah? What's up?

Speaker 21 (03:02:25):
I gotta agree with you guys about these nine one
one shows and Baywatch shows. How about you guys? Remember
that show Moving On?

Speaker 1 (03:02:34):
Oh?

Speaker 10 (03:02:34):
Yeah, yeah, how about you?

Speaker 9 (03:02:37):
Yes?

Speaker 21 (03:02:37):
So I bet they started bringing back something like that
for the younger generation. Trying to think of a real
man show Moving On.

Speaker 2 (03:02:42):
I can't remember it.

Speaker 4 (03:02:44):
Seventy four Moving On TV TV drama.

Speaker 5 (03:02:49):
No, that's not the one I was thinking of. I
was eight years old. Yeah, I can't remember that we
were too young. I bet we weren't allowed to watch it. Yeah, Mike,
you don't know about it.

Speaker 4 (03:02:56):
It was these two guys.

Speaker 2 (03:02:58):
This guy does that?

Speaker 5 (03:02:59):
Hell, wait a minute, wait.

Speaker 2 (03:03:02):
A minute, a lot.

Speaker 5 (03:03:05):
Oh, yeah he was that looks like the guy on
Mad magazine?

Speaker 2 (03:03:09):
Is that Frank Powell on the right.

Speaker 4 (03:03:12):
Frank Converse and Claude Atkins, as.

Speaker 5 (03:03:15):
I remember, I vaguely remember it, Claude being a Western. Yeah,
we continue, Rick Burgers Show, unscreen phone calls, Go ahead's
been big in Jersey.

Speaker 6 (03:03:26):
Hey morning, y'all, Hey buddy, all right.

Speaker 17 (03:03:28):
So going back to the Matthew McConaughey segment about sleeping
in a queens's bed. So Speedy made a comment about
he was a very light sleeper when him and this
Terry got married. When they first got married, Yes he did.
Do you think it's because he realized he married out
of his league that you might leave him in the
middle of.

Speaker 2 (03:03:46):
My Yeah, you got that's good, you got me.

Speaker 5 (03:03:51):
Rick Burgers Show, unscreened phone calls.

Speaker 18 (03:03:53):
Go ahead, Hey, guys, this is Brandon.

Speaker 5 (03:03:59):
When you oh, it's not Brandon Lake, I'm sorry, go ahead, he.

Speaker 33 (03:04:03):
Has no sub Brandon Lake. I've been a long time listener.
Thank you guys for all you do for the Kingdom.
I just wondered if you guys ever talk about the
guys from Birmingham sec shorts to do funny videos about
n C double A football.

Speaker 5 (03:04:17):
Uh we we haven't back on the Rick and Bubba show.

Speaker 2 (03:04:21):
We haven't.

Speaker 5 (03:04:22):
I haven't seen much from them now, funny people. They
seem creative all that. Yeah, so we are familiar with them.
They do good work. Rick Birder's show. Unscreen phone calls go.

Speaker 15 (03:04:32):
Ahead, yes, sir, big game this Friday. And I just
want to say, or maybe Saturday, and I just want
to say, go dogs.

Speaker 2 (03:04:40):

him playing on Friday night because he can't wait. But Thursday, hurry.

Speaker 5 (03:04:50):
Up Friday, his game coming up on Friday, Guys, I
got out boys.

Speaker 2 (03:04:56):
Can't sleep, can't wait.

Speaker 5 (03:04:59):
I'm just gonna say, be careful, yep. I'm just telling you.

Speaker 2 (03:05:04):
It starts today for a lot of US Ryder Cup
opening ceremonies time. Oh, I'll be sure. We got moved
up to day because of weather on Thursday. And then
they start fighting, which you call out a bonus. Ain't
nobody calling and got a countdown to the Rider Cup. Hey, well,
then you don't know. I heard a lot of people call, right,
there was Ride Cup this weekend. Don't you don't know? God,
j'all said about the Ryder Cup.

Speaker 5 (03:05:24):
You say one of us, Alabama, Georgia nothing, who cares
about the who courts about Alabama Georgia, Ryder Cup coming.

Speaker 2 (03:05:31):
I didn't say that, Huh. I did insinuated and didn't
say it.

Speaker 5 (03:05:36):
I couldn't watch on TV or I could watch insects.
I was trying to brure out which going to be
more exciting. I think I'll go ahead and watching ant
bet whatever it starts, watching Field.

Speaker 2 (03:05:52):
Don't know.

Speaker 12 (03:05:54):
You don't know what's the deal with the Ryder Cups
and the pay of the golfers being paid?

Speaker 2 (03:06:01):
You know what I thought? You know what I thought
the Ryder Cup was for years? I thought it was
a yacht race. Oh good night.

Speaker 1 (03:06:08):
This is the Rick Burgess Show, the man who removed

(03:06:31):
the phrase what's you no good? From society?

Speaker 5 (03:06:35):
Rick Boches, thank you America for being with us today
as we wrap up our time together.

Speaker 2 (03:06:44):
And don't forget Wednesday.

Speaker 5 (03:06:46):
Bible study today noon Central, one o'clock Eastern on the
YouTube channel, and of course we have an archive for you.
Not long after that we continue our study of the
Book of Job. Today will be in chapter thirty two.
So if you so desire and fellows who are here
with us every Wednesday, looking forward to seeing all of you,
Lord Willing a little bit later on today. So uh

(03:07:08):
text Nation Spen. You got one person in Florida says
they love the Ryder Cup.

Speaker 2 (03:07:13):
Oh, there's been more. It's just it's you know, it's
the screen has changed. There's been so many of them.

Speaker 5 (03:07:17):
You see one that says, even though it's golf, is
a chance for America to beat other countries.

Speaker 2 (03:07:23):
M hm, show hunt Jack cares about it, and that's good.

Speaker 5 (03:07:26):
Do you know, I will tell you the other countries
thing is never enough people to try to do that
all the time. Well, you know, no, you wouldn't even
go ahead watch soccer. I mean, of course, I mean
we go out there in the World Cup and beat
the other countries.

Speaker 2 (03:07:37):
Yeah, well, I mean that doesn't make soccer any more enjoyable, right,
everybody talking about that cross.

Speaker 5 (03:07:42):
I don't know why you keep doing all right, it's
I mean that that that's never enough for me. I
give me I like America. I'm thankful I'm an America.

Speaker 2 (03:07:52):
Nice. I don't I don't worry. I don't worship America.
Is that your mark? Yeah? I like America. I'd rather
be here, you know.

Speaker 5 (03:07:59):
But I mean, i'll tell you some of the things
we're allowing to go on this country right now.

Speaker 2 (03:08:04):
Yeah, I mean, we we get some work to do. Yeah,
I mean it now now God is nowhere near each other.
So I don't know. Hopefully you're not trying to compare
those two. Uh huh, I don't know. I hear a
golf and song. I thought you were a little bit.

Speaker 5 (03:08:18):
I was saying that people try to take this country
thing to the point that it's supposed to suddenly make
me suddenly like something I don't like. Yeah, you know,
it'd be like, you know, I mean, so you're not
gonna watch the World Cup never, Yeah, under any circumstance,
I can't imagine devoting to you.

Speaker 2 (03:08:35):
The World Cup and the Ryder Cup are not the
same thing. Okay, they have cup in the name, that's
about it. But the Ryder Cup. All I was saying,
that's it is that this is your chance. All the
complaints you have about golf, this would be the only
chance that y'all would watch is because the atmosphere and
everything's so different. It's in New York, so you got

(03:08:58):
the New Yorkers and all. It's just gonna be it's
gonna be like crazy crash tall.

Speaker 5 (03:09:07):
I mean, it'd be like we played golf and Chiawakers
number one where Greg and I grew up.

Speaker 2 (03:09:11):
You'd be dogging you, be hollering at you. But don't choke. Yeah,
so you get to do all that right, right, But
I mean somebody say don't choke.

Speaker 5 (03:09:18):
Oh yeah, there's all kinds of things to do. You
have to be quiet at all on this format.

Speaker 2 (03:09:23):
I don't know. I mean they'll they'll be they'll be
a little bit of etiquette, but it's gonna be after
every shot, it's going to be you know, I'll have
to be quiet hearing the shot, Rick, I don't know.
You just don't want to tell me. I'm sure. I'm
sure they'll try to be. I mean, it's it's not
gonna be like live golf, where you know in the
last question, you watch it, don't you. Yeah. I mean

(03:09:44):
they're gonna be cordial and quiet when it's time to touch.

Speaker 1 (03:09:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 29 (03:09:48):
Hit.

Speaker 2 (03:09:48):
But there'll be some that that shouts certain things.

Speaker 5 (03:09:51):
Can I do this? On average? Can I do this?

Speaker 2 (03:09:55):
Don't chow europe trash? Yeah? Can I do that? Yeah,
there'll be a ton of that. I mean he's putty. No,
probably not. He'll hold that paddle up.

Speaker 5 (03:10:03):
That's not how we do its number one.

Speaker 2 (03:10:05):
I know, I get it. I get it. But not
everything is cheehawacre number one, even though it should be
maybe Okay, I'm not gonna say but but I all
I'm saying is for your only chance to watch golf,
this would be it. Okay, okay, And it starts Friday
morning and this Fridays. But you know it's own during football.

(03:10:27):
It's not. There's not there's not ball games on Friday morning.

Speaker 5 (03:10:30):
Oh yeah, why I'll be doing the show Friday morning.

Speaker 2 (03:10:33):
Right. But I'm just saying, after that, in prolong and
into you feel like I'm being in. Are you coming
to taking off? Are you taking anybody that plays golf?
And I do just casually with my sons and other friends.

Speaker 5 (03:10:48):
It's it's a great to leave early.

Speaker 2 (03:10:50):
He's trying to take off too.

Speaker 4 (03:10:51):
Yeah, I'm going to the Ryder Cup.

Speaker 2 (03:10:53):
Uh, it's not a it's not an indictment on anybody
if they want to watch that.

Speaker 5 (03:10:57):
You don't still think golf's a sport.

Speaker 2 (03:10:59):
It's an activity, right, yeah?

Speaker 4 (03:11:00):
Skilled?

Speaker 12 (03:11:03):
Let me ask you something about trash talking and the crowd.
You know, what they're supposed to do, what they're.

Speaker 4 (03:11:08):
Not supposed to do.

Speaker 12 (03:11:09):
People yell after the hit, they'll go, you get in
the hole? Which is positive? Can you say like stay out.

Speaker 2 (03:11:16):
Of the hole, like can you you can?

Speaker 4 (03:11:18):
You can yell against them after they hitting?

Speaker 2 (03:11:20):
Oh yeah, all right, well maybe I'm in Yeah. And
most people that make fun of golf don't play it.

Speaker 5 (03:11:26):
I just bet it would be fun to play if
I was any good. Yeah, I never said it wouldn't
be fun to play, huh. I mean probably if.

Speaker 2 (03:11:34):
They would, you wouldn't know what a fun afternoon would
be for me if the four of us went and played. See,
that's a lot of fun. But y'all don't have the
patience to learn. And y'all aren't that bad because you
went out there and even though you tore your shoulder up, y'all,
y'all went out there and you hit the ball, didn't
hit the ball.

Speaker 5 (03:11:50):
But in all fairness, I mean, I'm a world class athlete,
of course, closest wing comes top golf.

Speaker 2 (03:11:58):
Right, you hit it? That's fun. Could I show you? Well,
I'd love to show you, but you're asking me to
play the golf versus watch it. That's different.

Speaker 5 (03:12:05):
Yeah, playing it might you know a nation little activity.

Speaker 2 (03:12:09):
That's what I'm saying. I mean, y'all, could we could
get you know, that'd be fun.

Speaker 5 (03:12:13):
And you know, one of the reasons it's not a
sport gives me hope of fat people know, people are
still good at it.

Speaker 2 (03:12:18):
That's true. I mean, there's all kinds of things we
do that are activities that are fun. That's not the
it's not the Big three.

Speaker 5 (03:12:25):
Takes a long time though. Yeah, and I really wish y'all.
Would I rather be playing golf or hunting?

Speaker 2 (03:12:31):
I'd rather be o. Yeah, everything doesn't go don't tankers
number one time for this? I don't know.

Speaker 5 (03:12:37):
If you're in the morning, well then midday, go ahead
a f your golf balls and then hunting.

Speaker 2 (03:12:41):
I'm just saying that, wouldn't it be cool to have
a foursome and we like we go out and play.
I'll live and take Adler will play the burgers?

Speaker 4 (03:12:47):
You say even take Outler?

Speaker 2 (03:12:48):
Why you say even and well beat the socks off, y'all.
So you did say even take out, Well, why do
you say that? I mean, I would be honored to
take Adler.

Speaker 5 (03:12:55):
Well, you can get some clubs from when jac was
like ten that can you?

Speaker 2 (03:13:00):
You have a kids at some yellows? Actually River uses those.

Speaker 4 (03:13:05):
Don't don't do that. Don't do that. I wasn't making
fun of golf. It was the guy's next to you.

Speaker 2 (03:13:12):
Okay. By the way, Speedy got mad about Gray.

Speaker 5 (03:13:14):
We got to watch ourselves on guard.

Speaker 2 (03:13:16):
