Floyd Mayweather vs Manny Pacquiao 2 is a fight that has a TON of nostalgia but very little substance. Two old men fighting for money is not what I want legends of the sport doing.. But I will say this, it will be competitive... Let's talk about it

it at the speed. And not only is that the case,

just missed the freaking poster Lloyd versus Manny two on
Netflix and before that's September nineteenth on a Saturday. I
don't know if the Ring magazine is involved with this.

going to be involved with it after our last video
and many Pakal promotions. But I know you guys are

have quotes. They're already pushing this fight heavy. Now. Yes,

all right. We're just gonna get that out of the
way right away. Floyd has lost a lot of money,

And listen, Manny's political run in the Philippines wasn't great, right,
so they're going back to what they do best in
this rematch. If anything is going to be interesting for
a couple of reasons. Number One, it's Mayweather and pack
Yow the biggest five eight that's ever happened in combat sports.
It wasn't at their best. We'll talk about how I
think this version's gonna go, But was it four point

two million pay per view buys? The biggest fight we
thought we'd ever see, and it may still be that.
But this is gonna do numbers as well, no doubt
about it. But the reason this fight is at least
more interesting to me now than either of their exhibitions.
And yeah, I'm throwing away how the first fight went
and that they were past their prime in that one,
and that I may be getting the wool pulled over
my eyes for what we actually might see. But let's

be honest. Though Floyd's forty nine, Manny's forty seven, we
know what we're gonna get. They're not gonna be in
their prime. We don't expect them to be in their primes.
Manny Pakil just came off a world title fight where
I thought he.

Now granted it was a draw, and we just saw
Mario Barrios get absolutely skunked by Ryan Garcia. It's showing

that's no offense to Mario, it's just the reality is
he was not one of the stronger champions.

world title fight. So there's intriguing that as well, like
is this version of Many better than the many that

was the controversy of the injured shoulder right in the
first fight where Manny came out after the fight, which

I'm not a big fan of, saying he had a
right shoulder injury that the Vegas Athletic Commission wouldn't let
him get an anti inflammatory shot or a cortizone shot,
maybe even in the shoulder the night of the fight,
And that was a big controversy at the time. Was
the reason Floyd won a decision because Manny wasn't able
to throw his jab as much his right shoulder was injured,
He couldn't get things going because he couldn't work off

his jab, or you know, whatever the excuses were at
the time.

you're watching this fight to see who still has it
at their age, to see the longevity play. Right, we
argue about Michael Jordan versus Lebron James. At Michael Jordan's peak,

have March, April, May, June, July, August, seven months before
we get to the fight. And I think that'll be
an interesting breakdown to go back and look at it,
because there was nice exchanges in that fight, and no, again,
it wasn't the most volume heavy fight. As we look
back at the final copy box numbers from the fight,

there was four hundred punches thrown between the two of them, though,
and one hundred and forty eight landed on Floyd's side
to Mandy's eighty one. He couldn't really get it going.
His connection percentage was super low, but his output was
super low.

and like we saw a second ago, Manny takes his

So this must have been planned in the works before

they even announced the exhibition fights, right, and again, Floyd's
got a tough one. Ruslyn is a former world champion.
It's a ten round welterweight fight. That's not, you know,
the same exhibition that Floyd is doing. They don't even

none of that. It's a ten round exhibition, but it's
a it's a fight because Ruslyn's a bad mother. But
this was all had I mean, it had to have

that done. I think it just needs to happen, and
we have time. This is announced in February, so we
have March, April, May, June, July, August, seven months before
we get to the fight. And I think that'll be
an interesting breakdown to go back and look at it,
because there was nice exchanges in that fight, and no, again,
it wasn't the most volume heavy fight. As we look
back at the final copy box numbers from the fight,
(07:46):
there was four hundred punches thrown between the two of them, though,
and one hundred and forty eight landed on Floyd's side
to Mandy's eighty one. He couldn't really get it going.
His connection percentage was super low, but his output was
super low.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
For many pack Yeah, many threw.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
More power, which you expected Floyd with more jabs, but
he was more way more efficient with his power, landing
more while throwing less. And you see the average punches
per round down at thirty six. I don't expect much
different this time around. If anything, they're probably gonna throw
less punches than that per round. The only thing I
don't want and again it's a pro fight, so both
guys are going to approach this with that mindset. I
(08:20):
don't want to see that glorified sparring match. You can
get away with that when you do exhibitions. And again
Floyd fighting and his exhibition versus Mike Tyson in the
Congo to get ready for this that's on April twenty fifth,
and like we saw a second ago, Manny takes his
on April eighteenth from the Thomas and Macarena in Vegas.
So this must have been planned in the works before
(08:40):
they even announced the exhibition fights, right, and again, Floyd's
got a tough one. Ruslyn is a former world champion.
It's a ten round welterweight fight. That's not, you know,
the same exhibition that Floyd is doing. They don't even
have rounds yet for the Floyd and Mike Tyson deal, minutes,
none of that. It's a ten round exhibition, but it's
a it's a fight because Ruslyn's a bad mother. But
this was all had I mean, it had to have
(09:01):
been set up, put in play for those two to
come together in September. They needed a tune up fight
for each of them. That wasn't gonna count against them
on their records.
Speaker 2 (09:09):
Hopefully no one.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Gets knocked out in those two exhibition fights, and again
they're two of the best of all time. They could
probably avoid it. Then they come out in September and
have one final go at it. I told you guys,
Lloyd is going broke, and there's no other clear explanation
other than you know, we can look through the court
documents of him versus Showtime, but missing three hundred and
forty million dollars being years and years behind on his taxes.
(09:32):
That's clearly the motivation for this. And because Floyd, obviously
you know, he is one of the best of all time.
So if he still can do it, do it. But
Mike Tyson followed by Manny Pakiao will get you out
of a lot of financial, bad situations and bad decision making.
Speaker 2 (09:47):
So this is why I.
Speaker 1 (09:48):
Think Floyd is doing this more than anything else, leveraging
his fifty to zero career because that will bring in
the viewership and Netflix seeing the partner here this, I
don't know if it's going to approach it, but if
there was a map to beat Mike Tyson versus Jake
Paul on Netflix, seeing as again it was eleven years ago,
but four point two million pay per view bys and
(10:08):
seeing as a casual audience doesn't really give a shit
if you're fifty eight years old, Mike Tyson, if you're
Anthony Joshua, Jake Paul, the competitiveness of that fight wasn't
really ever in question.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
They don't care.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
They want to see names they recognize going into that ring.
They won't care that Floyd's forty nine and Many's forty seven.
We will, and we'll know what we expect, right, We'll
expect a very you know, watered down version of even
what they wore a decade ago, and neither of them
really having what they had even.
Speaker 2 (10:34):
Then, let alone in their prime.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
But still, like I said, at least there's somewhat on
the same playing field and those two names. If there
was anyone to break Jake Paul Mike Tyson's Netflix record,
it would be this fight. I'm not going to go
out and predict it because I don't know what the
drawing power looks like for Floyd after he's done. Exhibition
after exhibition kind of run his name through the mud,
and then you know, Manny still has big time drawing power.
(10:55):
But worldwide, I'm telling you they might get close, and
they might do it.
Speaker 2 (11:00):
Who knows. Who knows. It was the first one on
Netflix for Mike and Jake, and it.
Speaker 1 (11:03):
Was Mike Tyson who was a nuclear level star. But
this is still the matchup between the biggest pay per
view draw in combat sports history. So you can't tell
me they won't approach that number that Jake and Mike did.
They may even cross that barrier, and that's something to
watch as well. But again, we all know what we're
getting in terms of the actual fight. It's not gonna
(11:23):
be what it once was. Lloyd Verspachio in twenty twenty six,
the unk Fight, Babe the Unction, Oh my goodness.
Speaker 2 (11:35):
So yeah, this is breaking news.
Speaker 1 (11:37):
Even though their first fight as Teddy Atlas the Great
and why Teddy Atlas says, let me understand this, the
first fight was five years too late. So now we're
gonna do the second eleven years later, and Floyd has
the tune up with Tyson. Okay, let's go. He's right.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
He's right. Their first fight was five years too late, and.
Speaker 1 (11:53):
You could argue is more than that seven years too late,
But now we're talking eleven years after that again, just
know what you're getting into. That's the way I approach
these things. Yeah, I know I'm not going to see
the greatest of their skill levels, but I'm interested in
seeing who kept their skill longer, which unks still got it.
That's what I want to see because they both can
clearly still do it. Manny has shown he can do
(12:13):
it at again a decent level, going in there with
Mario Barrios and in my opinion, beaten him, so he
can still go at a decent level. Floyd, we still
don't know, since he's done exclusively exhibitions against guys he
should have beaten that were you know, farcical. For the
most part. It presents a different question than you normally
would get in boxing, But the same question you asked
(12:33):
with Mike Tyson, right, does he.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
Still have it?
Speaker 1 (12:35):
And on that night we knew he absolutely didn't. But
for whatever level we're gonna get, we still have that
answer out there for Manny and Floyd.
Speaker 2 (12:43):
Who has it still?
Speaker 1 (12:44):
Who is still retained some of the best talent that
we've ever seen in boxing, And that's the way I'm
going to look at it. So, yeah, I can't lie
I'm interested. I'm actually kind of excited for it. They
got me again, dude, Floyd got me again. But it
won't be because I'm trying to delude myself into thinking
this is something that it is. We know what we're
getting into, and boxing has shown us over the last
five years that these type of fights are well liked
(13:06):
by the common man, by the public, and at least
in this one, it's a pro fight where Manny has
one more chance to take Floyd's Oh can he do it?
What do you think about this fight? Is it a
big sham to you, guys? Or you kind of are
you tired of seeing these older fighters that may not
have made great financial decisions for themselves and have to
come crawling back to boxing to payoff some debts.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Or because they're going absolutely broke? Is that sad?
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Or is it just a case of two legends of
the sport that still want one more chance at glory.
I tend to think it's probably the first, but maybe
it's a little bit of the second, And absolutely it's
still on both guys minds. And before we get out
