Speaker 1 (00:07):
Ring, Ring Ring. I think I added some rings onto
the five I apologize, I got excited.
Speaker 2 (00:15):
That's the newest addition to the series.
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Exactly six. This is what we're going to announce. Guess what,
there's six rings, guys, No, just kidding. It's the same
old five rings of the Olympics.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
But you know what, if they were to add another one,
I think the moon would be a fun addition.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Muggers.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Yeah, what do you think the next ring will be.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Something in our planetary I agree with you, Yes, yes,
let's get galactic on them. But before we explore space,
we have to explore Milan.
Speaker 2 (00:46):
Courtina, listen, what do you think of this being the
most expansive Winter Olympics ever?
Speaker 1 (00:56):
I love it. Let's just start there, bigger, better, more.
I think that in terms of the Olympics, it's like,
let's go for it, you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (01:06):
And that's what we're doing on this podcast. Welcome back
to two guys, five Rings. We're your hosts.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
I'm Bowen Yang, I'm Matt Rogers, and we are so
excited to be so backed as it were talking Olympics.
I have to tell you I'm recording from Los Angeles
right now. And already you see things popping up for
twenty twenty eight.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
So it's around the corner.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
It's around the corner. But right now we're focusing on
the windy mix.
Speaker 2 (01:32):
Oh and it's certainly a way to put it. I
think this is I'm sorry, we're jumping around. I'm jumping around,
and you're sort of keeping me honest. I just wanted
to introduce everybody in case you haven't been on this
journey with us. We are back from our twenty twenty
four Paris extravaganza. Yes, we had such a blast. We
got to talk games, Olympic village, stats, stories, We interviewed
(01:56):
amazing athletes, including well, I think it was mostly just one,
but the athlete Greg we gain Us.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Can you believe what a highlight getting to meet him?
Speaker 2 (02:04):
Truly a highlight? And stay tuned for more for this
winter crop.
Speaker 1 (02:09):
Oh there's gonna be more in store, Yes, Oh definitely.
I have to say. This podcast explores so many things,
such as who the athletes are we are going to
be watching, the venues that we're gonna be exploring. Just
how many times can a person mention their mild time
from half their lifetime ago? Stay tuned for more of that. Likely.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Yes, we're exploring human triumph. We are talking all the
locations stories. We're gonna do more of what we love
to do, but this time we have the privilege. Oh,
this is tending the opening ceremony in Milan.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
I mean they're actually making the huge mistake of sending
us there. They're gonna let us mix and mingle, They're
gonna let us taste the foods.
Speaker 2 (02:58):
We're gonna storm the floor.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
Do you remember when we called that Lady Gaga was
going to perform at the opening ceremony before she did?
Speaker 2 (03:04):
And this might be revisionist, I feel like you also
put clean Diana out there as well. We literally had
no knowledge of this.
Speaker 1 (03:11):
We know Mariah Carey was already named as a special performer,
but that doesn't mean we're not going to see some
incredible special guest pop up. Should we just sort of
throw out there something that we'd want to see? Yes,
it's crazy that Gaga was out there for the Parisian
Olympics when she is famously an Italian girl from New
York with roots and I'm assuming what can only be Italy,
(03:32):
you'd think she'd be storming the ball for this one
House of Gucci's Lady Gaga.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
House of Gucci's Lady Gaga. I mean she is an
icon of the Italian Alps, which is where the ski
events will take place this upcoming Olympic Games. I think
stay tuned. I'm willing to bet she makes an appearance.
You know she loves the world stage and the country
of Italy. I'm going to throw this out there. I'm
just going to say one word, chare, Holy moly, let's
(04:00):
get share. Well, here's my rub. Okay, the Parisian Olympics
were not to not to backpack too much because we
are looking forward. Yes, region Olympics. We're all about the
culture right, celebrating culture in all its forms. Italy is
absolutely the cultural place for so many things, to say
nothing of the birthplace of the Renaissance.
Speaker 1 (04:19):
Oh thank god for that.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
I want shared dressed as Leonardo da Vinci, which I
think she is down to do.
Speaker 1 (04:25):
I think we've seen her dress in so many ways.
We've seen her play every character in West Side Story.
There's no reason to believe that she shouldn't come out
as Leonardo da Vinci himself.
Speaker 2 (04:34):
I don't know if he was based in Milan, Okay.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
Can I say, Italy so confusing, so many different areas.
You know. The question of have we been to Italy
was posed by our producers, and the answer is yes,
although real Italians would say no, because we've been to Sicily.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
We've been to Sicily. I've personally been to the Dolomites.
I've been to Lake Garda. I had a solo vacation there.
That is as a life highlight. I rediscovered joy when
I had a lasagna. I remember martini and a diet
Coke in front of me overlooking Lago di Garda, and
I went, this is life, and I rediscovered myself in Italy.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Now I remember what it's all about truly.
Speaker 2 (05:14):
And I also felt very Italian at the Milan airport
when I bought an espresso before my flight. Yeah, nothing
is more Italian than that.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
No, just like a quick espresso before you hop on
a jet set. I love that.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
So this is all to say we were very excited
to go. Our Italian experience, our shared Italian experience is
limited to the isle of Sicily.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
And which which was a mixed bag. I will say,
let's just say this. I hope that everyone, all the
athletes traveling to for the games. I hope they get
there early because you roll the dice on flights. I'm
just saying, we had one of the gnarliest airport experiences
and jet setting experience of our life getting to Sicily
(06:02):
because a volcano erupted.
Speaker 2 (06:04):
You, guys, Mount Etna erupted. I'm gonna I'm gonna fire
some shots. You had fire shots, eat to airways. You
really tried us, and we will never forget the ways
that you lost our luggage multiple times. That's all I'm
gonna say.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
It was multiple times to the Olympians speakers, and I
just hope if you're packing your skis, maybe we need
to carry them on. Is that possible.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
It's kind of the only solution.
Speaker 1 (06:27):
How do you travel with all that?
Speaker 2 (06:28):
Elders so growing up in Colorado, and I'm sure a
lot of resort towns with ski facilities have this. There's
an entirely different carousel for skis and snowboards and equipment.
It's a different carousel that's taller, that's taller and wraps
around the wall. It is not a full circle. Yes,
I've seen this, yeah wow, And so that's kind of
(06:50):
the only solution. But I think you're onto something carry
on is kind of the only way for some of
these people, some of these Olympians who have been training
their whole lives for this, and it might all be
cut up the knees by some let's just say, casual
Italian airport workers. I don't want to generalize you, but
they are not. There's no sense divergency.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Casual was kind. Well. Can I tell you something though,
Do you remember that iconic woman who we went to
in the what airport was that? Was that the Milan Airport?
Speaker 2 (07:19):
No, no, no, no, this was She had an amazing
bob and she worked.
Speaker 1 (07:24):
She had an incredible Bob. And this was before Leslie Bib.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
This was before Leslie Bib. This was before season three
White Lotus. This is right after season two. Even in
the interim, I think I think Mike White must have
met her and was inspired. But she was at the
Sicilian airport.
Speaker 1 (07:37):
She was at the Sicilian airport, and we had lost
the luggage so badly and so we both didn't have it, yea,
So we said, okay, you know what, We're going to
go over speak to this woman who's incredibly overwhelmed because
get this, they had also lost one, two, three, four
or five. Yes, everyone else in the airport's luggage. No
one had their luggage. And she had this bob that said,
(07:59):
don't with me.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
I talked to screaming Greeks and British people all day
every summer.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
I do this, I do this. You're new to this airport.
I'm true to this airport. I am the person on
whom the wheels turn. Okay, So she really she took
our information very calmly. She was austere. She got it together,
and we eventually did get that luggage.
Speaker 2 (08:24):
Eventually. Being the broad key term. And you and I
have both worked in very unforgiving work environments. You've worked
as a server in various restaurant jobs.
Speaker 1 (08:36):
You've worked as a cast member on Saturday Night Live.
Speaker 2 (08:39):
Truly treacherous, but loving and fulfilling. I think nothing compares
to an Italian airport.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Oh no, you find out who you are. You find
out who you are at an Italian airport.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Who are you? Who are you?
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Okay? You know what I've noticed about myself lately during
stressful times, I am I'm quite the dissociator.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Yeah, you leave, I'll.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Completely leave the building.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
I'll just feel like, what's the exit, what's what's the exit?
Hatch your eyes? How does your soul leave your body
to the mouth, that the nose or the eyes.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
I'm trying to do it right now, I think, honestly,
what it is is it's just it's I'm not looking
at anything, but my eyes are open, and I'm kind
of trying to tell myself like i am physically here,
but emotionally, I'm somewhere else. Go to a happy place.
Go to a happy place. And here's the thing. We
thought we had traveled to the happy place because Sicily
was going to be so incredible. Suffice it all to say,
(09:35):
you have to bring your on board with you, athletes.
I'm telling you, we're weeks out. I understand that it's
going to be tough for you figure skaters because figure
skates are a weapon. They are a weapon. We've seen
blades of glory.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
We've seen blades of glory. More on that in episode two.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Oh, big time, big time, big time. Oh I have
missed figure skating drama and rivalry intern now turmoil on
the ice it's back. We all remember where we were
when the French judge did her thing with that Canadian pair.
I hope she comes back. Can you believe what a
huge drama that would be if it was very just like,
(10:13):
you know, like someone returning to a soap opera plotline
thirty years later, Like you thought that they banned me
for life. Well I'm back. I'm the French judge.
Speaker 2 (10:21):
I have no doubt that if she were to stomp
back on the scene, she would like even younger than
she did.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
Back then, oh one hundred.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
But I hope she's internally in turmoil for all the
suffering she caused on a world scale. We were all
all gagged.
Speaker 1 (10:38):
We were all gagged, and I was gagged to find
out that that was a couple. The Canadians were a couple.
So I'm always gagged to find out, Like in terms
of the figure skating pairs, and we were jumping ahead
here because in a second we're going to talk about
the locales we're going to be I said, we're going
to be performing at We're going to performing because Lo
and Maul like we will try and perform at everything.
(10:59):
But I'm always gagged. And we'll talk about more in
the next episode. Which figure skating duo pairs are in
a relationship which is clearly a gay best friend and
woman and which is just like a sort of fixed
marriage where it's like you can clearly tell there's like
drama between them, or like brother's sister.
Speaker 2 (11:18):
Or the ship sims who are iconically the most wonderful people,
who are siblings who are talented ice dancers. That is
best case scenario. Ice dancing kind of more artistic and
in a sense, I'm gonna say you're leading with dancing.
True figure skating is more about the physical feats. Yes,
(11:39):
that's what I'll say.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
You're hot today.
Speaker 2 (11:41):
I'm cursing it to airways. I'm saying ice dancing is
in some ways arguably more autistic. What am I doing?
Speaker 1 (11:47):
We're threatening to perform, We're threatening to perform. We're trying
to get share books. You know that's going to be
a logistical nightmare.
Speaker 2 (11:54):
Oh, just to go back to that, the skates have
to be carry ons, the luges have to be carry ons,
the bob sleds, the slaloms, the poles and the slaloms
have to be packed. Unfortunately, the pucks, the hockey pucks,
and so much more.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Me showing up to the airport, what do you mean
you've forgotten my bob sled? What do you mean you
lost my bob sled. You got to put an air
tag on your bob Sleds.
Speaker 2 (12:20):
Ladies and gentlemen, Oh cool, Runnings would not exist, would
not be a movie if air tag has had existed
in the nineties.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
You're actually ten assed about that. So wow, And all
technology happens at the exact right time, don't you agree?
Speaker 2 (12:36):
Yeah, all technology is good, it's all beneficial.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
We're AI.
Speaker 2 (12:44):
This isn't even us.
Speaker 1 (12:45):
This isn't even US. This is an AI thing.
Speaker 2 (12:49):
Kind of cool and they're nailing it cool.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
I actually think this AI met and phone is way
better than the real met phone.
Speaker 2 (12:57):
I agree. And they don't have to get paid for it,
which is so helpful.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Well, listen, we're talking around it. But this is truly
about sports, and in order to see these heroic feats,
these heroic athletic feats, and really to get the competition underway,
we need certain venues to host them. And this, like
you said, is going to be the most widespread Winter
Olympics and Paralympics in history. Milan will host the opening
(13:43):
ceremony as well as figure skating, hockey, short track, and
speed skating During the Paralympics. Milan will host the sled
hockey competition.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Wonderful Milan has a.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
Very fast pace of life and a buzzing social scene,
including a renowned apparative. Oh culture, love that. Okay, we're
gonna write that down bo. Now what is appartibo culture?
You ask? Apperativo is a beloved social ritual from roughly
six pm to nine pm where people gather to enjoy
a pre dinner drink such as a spritz or a
negroni and small snacks. We're gonna have the time of
(14:16):
our lives. I love this culture.
Speaker 2 (14:19):
Nibbles. I love to nibble and sip from a tiny glass.
Speaker 1 (14:25):
Nibbles, SIPs and more like, but not too much more,
because you got to keep it small.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
You gotta keep it small. But we don't have to.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
No, we're Americans. We're coming in. Can I say, Milan,
look out for us. I'll have four of those for me,
And what do the rest of y'all want? That's That's
how I'm gonna be at the table. Can I say,
best joke ever?
Speaker 2 (14:45):
Best joke ever?
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Hey? Can I have three of these? And what do
the rest of y'all want? You light up every room
when you go in with that joke.
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Absolutely, Now there's a Hollywood connection.
Speaker 1 (14:57):
To Milan, you don't say.
Speaker 2 (15:00):
And House of Gucci really the best film, the best
film with an amazing aggressive love scene in the first
ten minutes.
Speaker 1 (15:10):
I'm happy you brought it up. You know. I had
to go see that movie twice because I went to
the bathroom the first time and I came back and
I think maybe even it was you that was like,
you missed the sex scene. And I was like, well,
even though I think this movie is a six, I
will return.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
And you did see it a second time. I think
that's amazing scene work in that scene. But a House
of Gucci Ridley Scott used real Milanese locations to capture
the luxury fashion world. Do you think that the Milanese
cookie is authentic to the region.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
Well, I would think it's a shame if it isn't,
and I would think it was lies in Milano.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
I'm sorry. The pepper Ridge Farm Milano cookie a staple
in every pantry in America.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
That feels like an Italian ass cookie. To me.
Speaker 2 (15:51):
It feels very Italian ass, just.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Like Leonardo DiCaprio was Booty. Oh yes, yeah, Italian ass.
Do you see Italian or is that a stage name?
Is this name really like Mark Miller.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
I would say that that is a that's a real name.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
He's not giving Italian to me, is all I'm saying.
He doesn't give Italian, not the way like Lady Gaga
gives Italian.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
I think he's such a good actor that he gets
to sort of you know, hide it, you're right, turn
it on and on.
Speaker 1 (16:20):
You're right, you're right.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
And then the second host city, technically Woo, has previously
hosted the nineteen fifty six Winter Games. Cortina Dumpezzo, in
the heart of the Dolomites of northern Italy. It will
host women's alpine skiing events, as well as the curling
and the three sliding sports, which are bob sled, luge,
(16:41):
and skeleton. That is a chik trio.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
It's some of the most dangerous stuff you could do. Yeah,
I'm telling you. When I watched skeleton, when I watch luge,
when I even when I watch bob slid, I'm like
the I'm like, how do you even practice this? How
do you even get to the place where you are
Olympic at this? This just blows my mind.
Speaker 2 (16:59):
Got to get to the top of a mountain every
time you want to like put a rep.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
In, Honey, that's crazy, wild stuff.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
Quurtina da Pezzo is known as a luxurious Italian ski resort,
nicknamed the Queen of the Dolomites, celebrated for its high
end shopping, fine dining, and picturesque setting for both winter
sports like skiing and summer outdoor activities like hiking and
via ferrata.
Speaker 1 (17:24):
Oh we must return. See, we're only doing the Milan
portion and like we said, we're going to the Olympic
opening ceremony and we're going to see some figure skating.
But wow, does cortad Betso make a case for being visited?
And did you know there's a Hollywood connection?
Speaker 2 (17:41):
You don't say.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
The town's dramatic scenery has been featured in several films,
such as The Pink Panther nineteen sixty three, not the
Steve Martin Beyonce version, which I know you all think
is better and for your eyes only, the nineteen eighty
one James Bond movie. And during the Paralympics, Courtina will
host the alpine skiing, snowboarding and wheelchair curlling events, as
(18:05):
well as the Paralympic Winter Games. Opening ceremony, Go Quurtna Go.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
So they're splitting the opening ceremonies among these two cities.
Because I was gonna say, I wonder there are other
venue towns and cities throughout northern Italy that did not
make the name cut. It's Milan Courtina. The rest of
these towns are equally as amazing. Oh, they unfortunately are
(18:32):
not the namesake Olympic host cities.
Speaker 1 (18:35):
You couldn't fit them all. You couldn't do it because
then it'd be Milan Courtina, Levigna, Bormeo, Tesesero. Uh that
so uh.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
And then and then it sounds like you're you're you're
making fun of the culture, which I am not. You're not,
But then it starts to border on disrespectful territory. I
think I think they really thought about us when they
picked these cities out and said, you know what would
be easiest for pronunciation Milan Courtina, for Mountain Bowen, for
their hit podcast.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Well that's we are the Milan Courtina of America.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
What do you think you are?
Speaker 1 (19:11):
I think I'm more Courtina.
Speaker 2 (19:13):
That's interesting.
Speaker 1 (19:14):
You think you're Milan.
Speaker 2 (19:16):
I could be Milan.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
Did you just said you could be Mulan and I
could be Mulan. You could be Mulan and Milan.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
This is our performance in Italy. We're doing a stand
up hour very like Restless Lug Tour Tina and Amy,
but it's called Mulan and Tina, Mulan and Tina and
you do your Mulan and I do my Tina Fey.
Speaker 1 (19:42):
Greek icons the way it makes sense, the way it
makes sense, because what people don't know about Tina Fey.
It's her real name is Elizabeth Stamatina Fey. Okay, yes,
and that's her real Greek ass name. And guess what,
she doesn't even need those glasses. No talk about Lavigno, Lavigno, okay.
(20:04):
This is located in the Italian Alps. Livigna will host
the snowboarding and freestyle skiing events. Levigna is known for
its duty free status, which makes it a popular shopping
destination for items like fuel, alcohol, and electronics. It is
also famous as a high altitude ski and snowboard resort
with extensive slopes, snow parks and a long season, and
offers a wide range of summer activities like hiking, mountain
(20:25):
biking and water sports. A in the surrounding Stelvio National Park.
It is known for its local alpine cheeses and has
a vibrant appray ski scene with numerous restaurants and bars.
One thing I will say, as someone who can't ski,
I would be so good at the app ray part.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
But the app ray part implies that you do the
ski part before.
Speaker 1 (20:48):
Uugh, this is my rub, This is my rub.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
You could do like five hundred pushups while your friends
are on the slopes, and then you join us for
a cheese.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Yeah, and like, wow, all that skiing we.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
Did, right, I don't know that.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Are you going to try to let the slopes while
we're there because you are a skier?
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Well, I think they're going to close them down.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
You're probably right, king.
Speaker 2 (21:13):
I think that that's not going to be for the
lay people. I think that's reserved for the Olympians who
are there for a purpose.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
Well, I don't like you calling yourself lay ah, honey,
talk about Borbio.
Speaker 2 (21:25):
Bormeo, also located in the Italian Alps, will host the
men's alpine skiing. Okay, I'm there and ski mountaineering about.
That's where they are, That's where they keep the men.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Sometimes I just stand outside the men's restroom. That says
men on the door. I say, oh, well, that's where
they are.
Speaker 2 (21:43):
That is the slightly dirtier version of that. What do
y'all want, Joe, you that you make every single city.
Speaker 1 (21:50):
We go to try it in Milan everyone.
Speaker 2 (21:53):
Now, Bormeo is a historic spa town. I love love
that that we just have Spa towns throughout the world.
Is nice that human beings have found springs.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
It's so nice in different culture. Indulgence is international.
Speaker 2 (22:07):
It's international.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
It's actually real coachre number eight international. You didn't think
we could do it on this podcast, but we did.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
We did. I want us to talk about this because
Bormeo is known for a delicacy called pizza catti.
Speaker 1 (22:23):
Pizza ketti and scat.
Speaker 2 (22:26):
And local cheeses. Now, scat is fried cheese, which is
really really really interesting to me.
Speaker 1 (22:35):
It's really amazing.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
You take an indulgent thing and make it even more indulgent.
Speaker 1 (22:39):
You fry it.
Speaker 2 (22:40):
Yeah, But pizza ketti is pasta, cabbage and potatoes boiled
together then layered with two types of cheese into a
casserole like dish. So it's giving mac and cheese studied abroad.
It's giving lasagna, but a little bit it a little
(23:01):
bit cheek, a little bit of potato and cabbage a
little bit. And I don't mean to put a bad
ring to this. It's giving peasant food in a way
that is really good to me. As someone who grew
up with spaghettios and loving spaghettios, this is for me.
I can't I need to go to Bormeo and try
the men and the pizza catti.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
Yeah, this struck me as being your culture. This also
kind of gives like gonna be a problem two to
four hours after ingestion. You know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (23:29):
We could host the pizza Catti games.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
I'm sure we could eat pizza.
Speaker 2 (23:33):
Catti four hours later. Meet us on the slopes.
Speaker 1 (23:36):
Meet us on the slopes, you'll fill the wind behind us.
(23:57):
Let me talk about Tessa Row, located in the same
valley in the Treno province. TES will host the cross
country skiing events and cross country skiing portion of the
Nordic Combined Events. During the Paralympics. TES will host the
cross country skiing and biathlon events. Tes is famous for
its craftsmanship, particularly in furniture and musical instruments like violins
(24:19):
and pianos. They are made here. The town is also
well known for its vibrant traditions, including the Christmas event
Tesro and its cribs featuring hundreds of Nativity scenes, and
the summer event Le Cote. The town features did I
say that right?
Speaker 2 (24:36):
It sounds right?
Speaker 1 (24:37):
I have to tell you, Like when we did the
Paris podcast, it was just a roll the dice whether
I was going to say any old thing correctly. So
let's just say the town features a historic center rich
with churches. Good, Okay.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
Our producer Sean is telling us tet tes t.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
Te t tes Okay, so everything I said before. Imagine,
I said.
Speaker 2 (25:03):
He I imagine.
Speaker 1 (25:05):
Hey, the town features are historic center, rich with churches, frescoes, sundials,
and other architectural artistic elements. I love.
Speaker 2 (25:18):
I hope they keep the Nativity scenes up.
Speaker 1 (25:22):
Please please, just until we get there.
Speaker 2 (25:25):
This is my thing?
Speaker 1 (25:26):
What's your thing?
Speaker 2 (25:27):
Where's this town storing all of the little plastic baby Jesus' is,
the Mary's, the Josephs, the wise Men, the Andrew, Gabriel,
the Manger. I mean, this sounds like a storage nightmare.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
Unbelievable, the things they have to get rid of when
it's not Christmas. Where do they go? It's just it's
one of those Christmas secrets. Like Sannah, he's gay lext up.
Speaker 2 (25:53):
We have predat So located just to the east northeast
of also uh the valdimme Yeah, also in the val
you know, every now and then for our dumb American brains,
if you try to write things out and put the
stressors on certain syllables, we're too stupid to really make
(26:16):
sense of this. Our producers are just a group of
well meaning, wonderful men.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
They're normally trying to get us to pronounce things correctly,
and then it is a fools errand.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
And normally they're dealing with talent quote unquote like us,
but not like us, because these are people who know
what they're talking about, and they have the particular challenge
of having us really really going through the morass of
this knowledge. But we are doing our best, and we
(26:49):
love them for it.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
Suffice it to say, I am going to say this
next one correctly Predatso. Okay. This will host the ski
jumping events and the ski jumping portion of the Nordic
Combined events. There's also Anenterselva and Antolts those will host
the biathlon events. And finally, Verona will host the closing
ceremony of both the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. And
(27:11):
of course, Verona is most famous for being the setting
of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliette, which ended in death, unlike
the Olympic Games Milan Courtino, which will end in triumph,
some disappointment and us performing.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
We need to perform at the Verona Jazz Festival, which
is also known for.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
What if we sing for good at the closing ceremony?
Speaker 2 (27:35):
In Italian?
Speaker 1 (27:36):
Okay, I'm into it. I love the idea so much.
I'm willing to learn.
Speaker 2 (27:40):
I'm just pitching that because you can. I want to
push ourselves. I think we would sound incredible in Italian. Absolutely,
Andlli's to Andrea Pocelli's you have the Italian vibe.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
I have the Italian vibecause I'm from Long Island and
also like sort of like thirty ish forty ish percent
in Greek, so people are like, are you Italian? My
entire life and I'm like, I mean, might as well,
you know what I mean, that's my whole vibe.
Speaker 2 (28:09):
You are the Pan Mediterranean Icon, and.
Speaker 1 (28:12):
I've always said that. Listen, so much going on at
these Winter Olympic Games. Ten events in alpine skiing, eleven
biathlon events, four bopsloed events, twelve cross country skiing events,
three curling, five figure skating events, fifteen free style skiing events,
two hockey events. What else?
Speaker 2 (28:31):
Bo we have? Five lose events, three Nordic combined events,
nine short track events, three skeletons, very fun picture it
Halloween jingle Jangle, jingle Jangle, six ski jumping events, three
ski mountaineering events, no joke, eleven snowboarding events and fourteen
(28:52):
speed skating events. And a partridge and a pair tree.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
Always the best place to find a part ridge just
started chilling well. That was episode one of Two Guys,
Five Rings, our second season for the Milan Courtina Olympic

for this new journey we're on. I think I'm gonna

Speaker 1 (29:22):
Space, I think so too, really really.
Speaker 2 (29:27):
Fun and cozy. I think we're gonna walk around, We're
gonna sit on some warm beverages. Whatever the specialty is
in Milan. I'm sure it's coffee based, and I hope.
Speaker 1 (29:39):
Well.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
I was gonna say something, but it's so silly.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
No, I'll put it out there.
Speaker 2 (29:44):
You know, we're calling this podcast two Guys five Rings,
but in reality we're two guys with no rings.
