twelve years old? Kids be thirteen fourteen years old in

don't give a damn. All they care about is let

with their original age group because the parents still want
their kids to play. But yeah, we played against fourteen
year olds, so we lost in the semis, but we're
a true sixth grade team. No cheating like a lot

Well, speaking of not being good for you in the
long run. Per espn ap KC TV five. On May
twenty eighth, May eighth, May twenty ninth, Rashi Rice. He
was booked in Dallas County Jail serving a thirty day
sentence from from May May nineteenth. So he's thirty days

because of a probationary violation of a positive THCHC test
means he was smoking weed. He gets released on June sixteenth,
misses all of Chief's OTA's mandatory mini camp, and June
ninth he had a knee surgery A week before sentencing.

All right, so he was suspended six games to start
the twenty twenty five season from drag racing ended in
a crash.

Coach Red he had some quotes.

He said, Listen, we're moving forward as normal, and when
he gets back, we've got to get him caught up.
Life lessons are important, and Red declined to answer if
he trusts Rashi Rice's judgment. Right now, they have Jalen
Royals taking the first team reps in his absence. The

Chiefs in twenty twenty five, they were six and eleven.
Tj missed the playoffs for the first time since twenty fourteen.
Mahomes obviously went down with a torn acl LCL December
fourteenth versus the Chargers. The Chiefs traded for Justin Fields
from the Jets and Mahomes. Obviously they're hoping he's going

to be back. But let's start right here. Rashi Rice.
He's in jail during the OTAs Andy Reid says, we're
moving forward and business as usual. Do you feel as
though patience for Rice is running out?

But as long as Rashee Rice can still play at
a high level, the Chief's gonna tolerate it, or they
gonna find somebody else that can do what he does
for the team. And last year when Rashi Rice got hurt,
they didn't have that. They didn't find that. And so

until then, and we notice, teams are going to tolerate
what they have to tolerate until hey, the player falls
off or b we find a player that can do
what you're doing, and as soon as that happens, we
get rid of you. And so it's kind of unfortunate
because of Rashee Rice has put himself in this position.

All of this is his fault, all of it.

The car accident in the in the street and the
unfortunate incident that happened, that's your fault. Now when he
gets hurt in the football field, you know that. I'm
not saying that. I'm talking all off the field stuff
and you know, the stuff with his girlfriend. I'm not
here to speculate on and assume he did this, he

did that, I don't know. I wasn't there, but we
were talking the accident and now getting yourself in trouble
because you can't stay off the weed.

I've never smoked the damn my life, so I never
understood guys that can't stop smoking. But again it's coming
from somebody that has never smoked anything.

But the world of football, if you can play, you
will get multiple opportunities, and as soon as your production
starts to slip or they find somebody that can produce
and do close or more than what you were doing,
they will move on.

All I'm gonna say is he scored two touchdowns in

coming off of an injury. And so when he was suspended,
did anybody on that team that play wide receiver give
them closer to production every Rashi Rice was giving them, No,
they did not. Had somebody given them the type of
production that Rashi Rice was giving them when he was playing,

then it'd be a different story. Then Andy Reid would say, well,
you know, we have some and so he looked pretty
good when uh, I don't know what that when Double
R was out, so we can They haven't that. They
don't have that. They don't have that, and so they
gonna tolerate it. And as soon as they find somebody,
they're not going to tolerate it. And it's just kind

of unfortunate because when you get when you get our
age levard, you're gonna regret all these dumbass decisions you
made when you're younger, and you can't tell these young
players when you're going through it what it is. Do
you remember these three words choice's, decision, consequences. You remember
where you first heard that?

Yeah, I don't disagree with that, Listen. I think the
surgery puts them in a bad position here. Injuries aren't
aren't really, Maybe they look at them differently in today's NFL,
because it is. It is very different how things are
done anymore, and the amount of attention to people's health
and their mental health and all those things. Maybe maybe

it's a different day and age. But I think I
think when you when you since we're doing sayings, what's
the saying fool me once, right? Or or fool me
wants shame on me, fool me twice shame on No,
fool me want shame on you, fool me twice, shame
on me. I think that that's the scenario that we

got going on here, right. The first fooling is the
drag racing you out there. You're doing what you're doing,
and that's running a muck. If you ask me, you're not.
When when you want to put yourself in danger, you
got to deal with the consequences and the repercussions as
it applies to you when you're doing things that put
other people in danger with the REPERCUSSI and the consequences

of what you chose to do. I don't have a
whole lot of patience for that. I don't have a
whole lot of you know, grace for that.

So right off the gate, I got an issue with
him if he's not showing that he truly understood how
dangerous what he did was when he got the six
game suspension and was put on probation. The fact that
probably something that led to a substance that led to you,

you know, doing what you did that night, is something
that was put on your probation. Of what you're being
monitored for, we're testing your judgment and your commitment to
the change that you said you're going to change for
being under probation, because that's what probation is for. Right,
We're going to make sure we check on you to

know that what you're doing on this probationary period of
time lets us know that we can trust you enough
to take you our probation right clear on that, right,
and then you test positive for the weed like you
test positive for it to me. I don't see how
you can have any real trust for him. If he's

going to let himself down multiple times, then who are
we to be let down by him multiple times? In
a team environment? And a coach, most importantly a coach,
not just Brett Veach the GM, but the coach has
to manage guys that can create a locker room environment

like that TJ where it may rear its head.

I don't know if it's well, you didn't do that
to Rashi, or you didn't you didn't handle things with
rights like that, or or just his his inability to
do what he's supposed to do.

anybody that's under him won't even utter those worlds out

But damn, he is a solid dude. He moves the
right way. I don't know him, so on the outside
looking in seeing this, I would say.

No, But I'm a guy that how you move and
how you treat me, and how I see you treat
other people, I'm LaVar you've been around me, man, I
treat everybody like.

just don't believe in that.

Because at one point people looked.

and so I would never treat anybody that way, and
again I would just have to be around him. But
from the outside looking in, no, I don't.

one to get around. Now, I will say this, Patrick Mahomes,
he is practicing. He's in the yellow non contact jersey.
He's recovering from his surgeries from the ACL and the
LCL looks as though they're planning on him being back
and being back on time. But they did, as I mentioned,

bringing justin Fields as a backup. I think that's an
interesting backup. I think that could be a great landing
place for him. You got Eric Bienemy back calling the offense.
I think that that is going to be a positive
thing for the Chiefs as well. How important is it
in this conversation TJ before we go to break, how

important is it for Patrick Mahomes to vouch for Rashi
Rice in this scenario?
Speaker 3 (14:29):
I don't think Pat needs a vouch for him.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
Okay, okay.

Rashi Rice has proven himself in the league. Like he's
not one of the top receivers, but he's damn sure
very good. And so he's proven himself by his ability
to go out there and make plays for the Chiefs,
and then when he's not in the game, the other
guys can't do what he's doing. And so that within itself,
Mahomes don't have to speak for him. His play is
(14:54):
spoken for itself. That that just and now what Patt
is going through, what Mahomes is going through, Pat Trick
is going through, he got enough to worry about. He
got to make sure that he's possibly healthy for a
week one if not later in the season to get ready.
I'm sure he's disappointed. He Mahomes wants to win. Mahomes
(15:19):
know whatever she rights can help them win. And so
for him to have his setback, because it's not so
much missing OTA's and Minie camp, it's can we rely
on you? You just had a surgery. You damn show ain't
getting no type of rehab while you locked up like that.
So I hope you were paying attention to what they
said you were gonna need to do. And you can
(15:40):
kind of just do some body weight stuff, but what
about the massages, getting a scar tissue out and the
range of motion and all that you need to be doing.

You can't do that.

You locked up, So now that's setting you back when
you sat back, you setting the team back. So it's
just a lot that goes into it. But Mahomes has
enough to worry about on his plate with getting himself
ready to go.

Oh man, it just sounds as though it's a is
the mess worth you know? Is it worth it? Because
this is messy. It just sounds like it seems like
it's a messy situation that doesn't look like why what
about his decision making that has led him to where
he is now would give me any confidence that he's
(16:26):
going to be anything different moving forward? And I think
that that's sad that you have to be in a
frame of mind where as a coach or a GM
you have to look at it in those those terms
for the simple fact that obviously you could lose your
job off of making bad decisions on personnel, So you
(16:49):
don't always get the grace, you don't always get the
time to pull it together. But I mean we saw,
you know, Josh Gordon was a smoker, and Josh Gordon
and couldn't stop smoking, and he kept getting opportunity after opportunity.
So to your point, based on your talent level, people
will continue to try to give you opportunities but with
(17:12):
that being said, man, he sure has placed himself far,
far far behind the eight ball on moving forward with
having success. And it might be a heart reaction to
what it is that he's got going on, but being
incarcerated for a mistake that you could have prevented is
a heart reality and a poor decision as well. So
(17:33):
I do wish him the best, I wish him well,
and we'll see how that all plays out. All Right,

Keep in mind Kirby Smart thirteen million dollars a year.
He is the highest paid coach one hundred and thirty

he just won the national championship with roster closer to
fifteen million rather than forty million. Texas they lead the
way in college football at forty seven point nine million
dollars for their roster value with the likes of Archie
Manning and others. But you have six programs reportedly over

forty million dollars in a roster roster budget, TJ.

Feel a certain type of way about this. What where
do you want to start off with this conversation.

I don't know where I'm gonna start. I don't know
where I'm gonna finish, but I got a lot to say. Okay, first,
Curse Signetti. You know the market is pretty expensive. It's scary.
It's scary. I think players should get paid. But something's
going to have to be done in the next twelve
or fourteen months or universities might not be able to
handle this. College football won't exist the way we're going
right now. They gonna exist with your weak ass making

all that money. Yeah, you took a nap, took Indiana
and they won a national championship. But as soon as
you started winning, didn't ya ass reup? Kurse Signetti? Did
your ass reup and get paid? Did you get paid,
Kurt Signetti on the backs of the kids? Did you
not get paid? Did you get your pot of gold?

Kirby Smart? Did you get your pot of gold? You
the hoighest paid coaching college football. It's okay for you
to do it, but it ain't okay for the players
to do it. What world are we living in where
these dudes feel so entitled where they can make all
the money, but they want something done about the players.
For years and decades and decades and decades, the NCAAA

robbed us.

They robbed us.

So all that money that is saved up for all
these damn universities that made everybody believe we were student
athletes and we were amateurs and you couldn't get paid,
and the scholarships and the food it was enough. Oh,
we can see now it wasn't enough. It was nowhere
near enough. And so now that these young fellas are

reaping the benefits of what we should have reaped, that
we did not. Let these young kids get every dollar
and make every dollar they can make, because the majority
of them will never make it as a professional football.
Let them make the money now, why they can Shame
on all the Kurt Signettes and the Kirby Smarts that

are preaching, is if my son was a high school recruit,
we would never consider those two schools, Georgia and Indiana.
We will x you off the board because this is
how your coach feel. You really don't want my son
to be making no money. Why am I going to
But you want my son to help you make money?
Oh okay, I get it. You don't want him to

make it, you want him to help you make it.
That's what it looks like. I never understood coaches that
do this. Kurt Signetti has a one hundred million dollar
deal with the University of Indiana. One hundred million dollar deal.

I don't know any player that's getting that. Kirby Smart,
You've made over one hundred million dollars coaching. I don't
know any college player that's getting that. So what is
you'all problem?

I just don't understand why these coaches are doing it.
Oh yeah, certain universities have more money to spend. Well,
that's the personal problem. Get to another university, then, oh
this school, Texas Tech has more money, Well, go to
Texas Tech.

If you can.

SMU has to go to SMU Texas, Go to Texas
or be completely satisfied where you're at, Kirby Smart, why,
because Georgia can't win anymore. You can't have backups that
are better than everybody else's starters sitting on your bench
waiting because they gonna go somewhere else now and get
this money.

Kurse Signetti. You've done a hell of a.

Job at the University of Indiana with the guys you've
brought in, But now they want this money here. You
don't want fam this money. You want to make sure
you and your coaches get all that money. It's just
hypocrisy at his fine, it's unfair. And you want to
go to Congress now. I never heard any any coach

talking about going to Congress. When Ad o'banna was saying
we should be getting paid. Did you hear any cose
that LeVar No, when LeVar Arrington was a happy valley
at Penn State, crushing every team that he played against
every Saturday. Did you hear any coach sa LeVar Arrington
and Courtney Brown need to get paid.

They need to get up out of here with that.
That irritates me that you want help now. But when
you guys knew you were taking advantage of the players,

also the conversation of breaking away from the NCAA, and
these conversations will continue to persist.

We've heard the SEC this week just.

Really really lean in sanky and smart, just really lean
into how unhappy they are with how things are currently
situated and set up the SEC and the Big ten.
They control, the money, they already get got and have
the biggest TV deals. I wonder, in some way, form, shape,

or fashion, is it more about creating a structure that
takes them into a pro model versus it just being
more about the kids. I almost feel as though with
the idea of thinking that you can break away from
the NCAA and govern your own situations, control your own,

you know, pool of money and TV rights deals and
all of those different things. I just wonder if if
they're setting up a structure, if the idea is to
set up a structure, because they don't have a cap
on what they pay coaches in the league either, and
they have a cap on the players.

So I just wonder, do you look at it from
this standpoint of positioning a.

Salary cap at the college level is now forcing the
conversation of a bigger structure that has to be in play,
which means that obviously you got to start talking about unionizing,
You got to start talking about benefits. You have to
start talking. You have to go away from saying the
college football player is a student athlete, and you have

to go in the direction of saying that college football
players are indeed and actually employees to the university. That
to me, I think is that is the one teetering
line that is falling apart very quickly. How do you
maintain the athlete still being a student athlete and being

judged and based upon being a student athlete? Right, you
can put it in the contract, which that's what they
are doing.

The part they'll always be student aff as long as
you have to go to school, you're a student athlete.
But because I'm a student athlete, what does it have

I mean, obviously AJ Brown is the biggest name of

the Patriots a much much better team That's just what
it is. AJ Brown is a dog. He can play

monitored for, we're testing your judgment and your commitment to

time lets us know that we can trust you enough
to take you our probation right clear on that, right,
and then you test positive for the weed like you
test positive for it to me. I don't see how
you can have any real trust for him. If he's

a team environment? And a coach, most importantly a coach,
not just Brett Veach the GM, but the coach has
to manage guys that can create a locker room environment

interesting backup. I think that could be a great landing
place for him. You got Eric Bienemy back calling the offense.
I think that that is going to be a positive
thing for the Chiefs as well. How important is it

important is it for Patrick Mahomes to vouch for Rashi
Rice in this scenario?

I don't think Pat needs a vouch for him.

not one of the top receivers, but he's damn sure

Mahomes don't have to speak for him. His play is

spoken for itself. That that just and now what Patt
is going through, what Mahomes is going through, Pat Trick
is going through, he got enough to worry about. He
got to make sure that he's possibly healthy for a
week one if not later in the season to get ready.
I'm sure he's disappointed. He Mahomes wants to win. Mahomes

know whatever she rights can help them win. And so
for him to have his setback, because it's not so
much missing OTA's and Minie camp, it's can we rely
on you? You just had a surgery. You damn show ain't
getting no type of rehab while you locked up like that.
So I hope you were paying attention to what they
said you were gonna need to do. And you can

kind of just do some body weight stuff, but what
about the massages, getting a scar tissue out and the
range of motion and all that you need to be doing.

just a lot that goes into it. But Mahomes has
enough to worry about on his plate with getting himself

it's a messy situation that doesn't look like why what
about his decision making that has led him to where
he is now would give me any confidence that he's

that that's sad that you have to be in a
frame of mind where as a coach or a GM
you have to look at it in those those terms
for the simple fact that obviously you could lose your
job off of making bad decisions on personnel, So you

don't always get the grace, you don't always get the
time to pull it together. But I mean we saw,
you know, Josh Gordon was a smoker, and Josh Gordon
and couldn't stop smoking, and he kept getting opportunity after opportunity.
So to your point, based on your talent level, people
will continue to try to give you opportunities but with

that being said, man, he sure has placed himself far,
far far behind the eight ball on moving forward with
having success. And it might be a heart reaction to
what it is that he's got going on, but being
incarcerated for a mistake that you could have prevented is
a heart reality and a poor decision as well. So

I do wish him the best, I wish him well,

Keep in mind Kirby Smart thirteen million dollars a year.
He is the highest paid coach one hundred and thirty

he just won the national championship with roster closer to
fifteen million rather than forty million. Texas they lead the
way in college football at forty seven point nine million
dollars for their roster value with the likes of Archie
Manning and others. But you have six programs reportedly over

forty million dollars in a roster roster budget, TJ.

Feel a certain type of way about this. What where
do you want to start off with this conversation.

I don't know where I'm gonna start. I don't know
where I'm gonna finish, but I got a lot to say. Okay, first,
Curse Signetti. You know the market is pretty expensive. It's scary.
It's scary. I think players should get paid. But something's
going to have to be done in the next twelve
or fourteen months or universities might not be able to
handle this. College football won't exist the way we're going
right now. They gonna exist with your weak ass making

all that money. Yeah, you took a nap, took Indiana
and they won a national championship. But as soon as
you started winning, didn't ya ass reup? Kurse Signetti? Did
your ass reup and get paid? Did you get paid,
Kurt Signetti on the backs of the kids? Did you
not get paid? Did you get your pot of gold?

Kirby Smart? Did you get your pot of gold? You
the hoighest paid coaching college football. It's okay for you
to do it, but it ain't okay for the players
to do it. What world are we living in where
these dudes feel so entitled where they can make all
the money, but they want something done about the players.
For years and decades and decades and decades, the NCAAA

robbed us.

So all that money that is saved up for all
these damn universities that made everybody believe we were student
athletes and we were amateurs and you couldn't get paid,
and the scholarships and the food it was enough. Oh,
we can see now it wasn't enough. It was nowhere
near enough. And so now that these young fellas are

reaping the benefits of what we should have reaped, that
we did not. Let these young kids get every dollar
and make every dollar they can make, because the majority
of them will never make it as a professional football.
Let them make the money now, why they can Shame
on all the Kurt Signettes and the Kirby Smarts that

are preaching, is if my son was a high school recruit,
we would never consider those two schools, Georgia and Indiana.
We will x you off the board because this is
how your coach feel. You really don't want my son
to be making no money. Why am I going to
But you want my son to help you make money?
Oh okay, I get it. You don't want him to

make it, you want him to help you make it.
That's what it looks like. I never understood coaches that
do this. Kurt Signetti has a one hundred million dollar
deal with the University of Indiana. One hundred million dollar deal.

I don't know any player that's getting that. Kirby Smart,
You've made over one hundred million dollars coaching. I don't
know any college player that's getting that. So what is
you'all problem?

I just don't understand why these coaches are doing it.
Oh yeah, certain universities have more money to spend. Well,
that's the personal problem. Get to another university, then, oh
this school, Texas Tech has more money, Well, go to

SMU has to go to SMU Texas, Go to Texas
or be completely satisfied where you're at, Kirby Smart, why,
because Georgia can't win anymore. You can't have backups that
are better than everybody else's starters sitting on your bench
waiting because they gonna go somewhere else now and get
this money.

Job at the University of Indiana with the guys you've
brought in, But now they want this money here. You
don't want fam this money. You want to make sure
you and your coaches get all that money. It's just

go to Congress now. I never heard any any coach

talking about going to Congress. When Ad o'banna was saying
we should be getting paid. Did you hear any cose
that LeVar No, when LeVar Arrington was a happy valley
at Penn State, crushing every team that he played against
every Saturday. Did you hear any coach sa LeVar Arrington
and Courtney Brown need to get paid.

situated and set up the SEC and the Big ten.
They control, the money, they already get got and have

or fashion, is it more about creating a structure that
takes them into a pro model versus it just being
more about the kids. I almost feel as though with
the idea of thinking that you can break away from
the NCAA and govern your own situations, control your own,

you know, pool of money and TV rights deals and
all of those different things. I just wonder if if
they're setting up a structure, if the idea is to
set up a structure, because they don't have a cap
on what they pay coaches in the league either, and
they have a cap on the players.

So I just wonder, do you look at it from
this standpoint of positioning a.

Salary cap at the college level is now forcing the
conversation of a bigger structure that has to be in play,
which means that obviously you got to start talking about unionizing,
You got to start talking about benefits. You have to
start talking. You have to go away from saying the
college football player is a student athlete, and you have

to go in the direction of saying that college football
players are indeed and actually employees to the university. That
to me, I think is that is the one teetering
line that is falling apart very quickly. How do you
maintain the athlete still being a student athlete and being

judged and based upon being a student athlete? Right, you
can put it in the contract, which that's what they
are doing.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
The part they'll always be student aff as long as
you have to go to school, you're a student athlete.
But because I'm a student athlete, what does it have
to do with the amount of money that I can make?
That has nothing to do with it. Yeah, but he
being a student athlete has nothing to do with liability in.

You the liability connected to an employee versus a student
or that's that's where.

But as far as what liability, as far as what.

Of any if they get injured, whatever, it may.

give them the right amount of money, don't overpay, and
you should be fine. If you know what you're doing,
you should be fine. You can't give so and so
that's a five star recruited X amount of dollars. But
when you really watch so and so, he ain't played
great competition in high school. So I don't know how
this is going to translate. So and so looked really

good against these kids, but when he played against the
best kids, it's production. You got to beware of that.
You have to evaluate the right way. And if I'm
a curse Signetti at Indiana, I won with less. Why
do I care? Because that's what you said, Google me,
I win. That's what you say.

But I think that's why it does matter to him.
He was closer to fifteen million than the highest.

on at TJ.

I mean, obviously AJ Brown is the biggest name of
the bunch wherever he goes, particularly if it's the New
England patron which has been speculated that turn that makes
the Patriots a much much better team That's just what
it is. AJ Brown is a dog. He can play

one of the best receivers in the league.

That is the domino, the big domino that matters. Like
Kevon Tibodau is a good player, he not AJ Brown.

still can he reach his potential? We know what Aj
Brown is. AJ Brown was on his way to the
Hall of Fame until the last couple of years kind
of derailed him the product wise, And so for him,
that is the domino. Where he goes, whether it be

he will make them better and we'll get them an
excellent chance to get to and win the Super Bowl.

What do you see happening with just super quickly with
Anthony Richardson, It just seems like that that situation is
dead and gone. And indeed, who would who would who

Anthony Richardson needs to get If I'm Anthony Richardson, I'm

that really has rehab quarterbacks have done a great job.
And I'll give you three teams. I'll say the Green

and the Minnesota Vikings. And I'll give you Kyle Shanahan

and those three coaching staffs you can get with one
