And y'all know when we do that, we bring them

and drop my goud theme music.

Speaker 3 (00:25):
Mane No, it's.

Speaker 4 (00:29):
Time to check in with Cuffs, the legend from some
dude show podcast on Up on Game Presents. Cuffs is
giving you a spicy takes on what's going.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Down the heat like Lebron and now here's Cuff the legend.
It's cold time.

Speaker 5 (00:49):
Legend.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Hey, man, Cuffs, welcome to the show man. You coming
you walking to the ring man like a heavyweight fighter.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Man, ain't about to defend your title for about the
third or fourth time.

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Man, that's that's your thing. Music, man, you get ready
to go.

Speaker 6 (01:06):
Hey, look, I.

Speaker 5 (01:07):
Tell y'all every time, man, I feel like Apollo cree
Man when he had those USA trunks on and he
was coming to that ring against Drago and everything was
going his way until we all know what happened, right,
And that's how I feel when I watched these NBA
Finals so far, watching these baby Spurs im flowed, im

(01:31):
flowed Game one, implode Game.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Two, let's just get let's get right into it. Then.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Look, I don't think anybody's ever seen anything what we witnessed.

Speaker 3 (01:44):
Game four.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
There's so much to unpack, and we gonna unpack it.
Who do you blame? Do you blame anybody? Said de
Aaron Fox? Is it Wenby?

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Is it?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Miss Johnson? There's so much to unpack here.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Let's go.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Twenty nine point league and then you lose it. Twenty
nine point lead and you lose it, let's go.

Speaker 6 (02:08):
Oh Like.

Speaker 5 (02:08):
As I'm speaking right now, I'm getting kind of fuftered
and frustrated because the coach and me and the former
basketball hooper player in me, no matter what, no matter
what level of basketball, So all the kids listening, high school,
middle school, a point guard does not do that in

(02:29):
that situation. Jaron Fox and I will also say that
one play.

Speaker 6 (02:35):
Didn't lose them that game.

Speaker 5 (02:37):
But Mitch Johnson, my brother, my life skinned brother in christ,
Mitch Johnson me, I know, I know you a young
head coach, and you were given the keys and you
were promoted from within because the Spurs organization, they're known
to do that. Like, mis Johnson was in the Spurs
organization for like ten years. He's a former hooper at Stanford.

(02:57):
He played there with Landry Fields. Competitive guy. You know,
he got the deep ratty voice. Flay, I can see
how he does well and interviews and stuff. Right, they
get this position right, he was on the grind. But
miss Johnson, Man, listen, man, I don't care what level
of ball y'all. We're not sitting there on the sideline
if I'm the head coach, because I'm coach. Cuffs in
my soul. I'm calling the time out after a six

(03:19):
zh eight oh run. Man, I'm not watching my Larry
O'Brien trophy go down to drain because I'm thinking, I'm
I got an ego as a coach.

Speaker 6 (03:27):
Now we're gonna figure it out. No, Man, the.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
Knicks on a twelve oh run, the guard's going crazy,
being still a fat Joe, Kenny Joe, everybody going crazy
and you just watching with the pretty hair.

Speaker 4 (03:40):
Hey, what are we doing?

Speaker 6 (03:41):
I'm be wildered. That's the word, guys.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
I'm bewildered by miss Johnson not using his time out.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Man. You know what, man, I felt like I lost
that game, man, I really did, because I don't think
I can ever recall watching a basketball game it's on
any level. How do you lose being up by twenty nine?
It just doesn't. I don't even know how they accomplished

(04:11):
that feat because twenty nine points, it's the game supposed
to be over. Wrap it up. Let's go back to
San Antonio. Win game five, and now we got some cooking.
But to watch that game in the way that I did,
I sat here on this recline and I said, I

(04:31):
know that these guys are not going to lose his
basketball game. And I'm sitting here and I remember when
they said it, the San Antonio Spurs don't have anybody
guarding Og on the inbound I believe that was the
mistake that cost him the basketball game. Obviously, you know,

(04:52):
he ran on a basketball court and nobody picked him up,
and he tips the ball. And because there's nobody guarding
him on the out of bounds play, Uge mistic that
what that played right there cost them the larry of
Brin Trope. And I'm looking at San Antonio. I just
feel that my nephew, Dylan Harper gives the Spurs a

(05:16):
better starting lineup. If you insert him into the starting
lineup and for Julian Champagnee because he has more, he
has more to offer offensively and defensively. He is getting
it done on both sides of the court. And when
he's in the game, they're a better offense, they are
a better team. So they have to find a way

(05:38):
to get champagne going. He had five points the other night.
Uh DeAndre Darren Fox makes that player on the layup
which he's supposed to pull the ball out and and
reset the offense. And I just don't see how they
overcome this this hurdle. Mentally, even if they do win tonight,

(05:58):
I don't believe that they're going to get out of
Addison Square Garden in a few days. I just don't
see that happening. But man, to watch the do with
the bacle of that basketball team up twenty nine and
then you come out of halftime, You come out of
halftime whipped between nine point lead, and you jack up

(06:18):
eight straight three pointers. What is that about. It's so
many things happened in that game, But I'm still in
shock that coach Mitch let this game get away the
way that it is. Because if Papovitch was the coach.
That never would have happened. Never would to me.

Speaker 2 (06:41):
Is the problem that I have is once that second
half started, it was almost as if the Spurs said, yeah,
we about to embarrassed you.

Speaker 3 (06:49):
Last we beat y'all bout forty.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
And it was three point shot at tip, three point
shot a tip, after three point shot at tip. I'm like,
what are they doing? And it goes to what cuts
you said, that's when you call it time out. Y'all
better not shoot another three again, attack the attack the basket,
stop shooting, stop shooting three. That's that should have been
a message right there, do not shoot another dum dum

(07:12):
dumb three again. We are going to attack the basket.
I don't know. And that that's the youth in the
San Antonio Spurs. But that's also the youth and miss
Johnson as a head coach. Also, why the hell when
you have a twenty nine point leads, winby playing forty
four minutes, winby.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
You're Gon'm gonna I'm gonna sit you.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
They start making a round, Okay, get back in there.
He was gassed at the end of the game. He
was gassed. They have to do now. I'm not a
basketball guy. I play one on the weekends at times
basketball coach at times, couse, please explain to me why

(07:57):
does everything with the when it comes to Winby, why
is it perimeter base? Because if Winby is around the basket,
the Knicks are going to have to collapse every single
time defensively, every single time defensively two three guys, you're
gonna get wide open shots. He's always around the perimeter

(08:18):
and so driving lanes. Everybody's there ready to help. But
if you keep Winby around the basket, round the free
throat line, getting out stop sitting at the three point line,
why is it that everything Winby does is perimeter base
and he's not staying within twelve feet of the basket.

Speaker 6 (08:39):
TJ.

Speaker 5 (08:39):
Man, I've been trying to figure that out because me
having a player development background and I've developed a lot
of players man at every level up to the league,
and I used to have the pass all that I
used to get real physical.

Speaker 6 (08:52):
My workouts were known to be that type of workout.

Speaker 5 (08:55):
And what I can tell you from that, I looking
at Wenby if I was in the lab with him
right now. I actually know one of his trainers and
I'll tell him the same thing like bro Wenby is
allergic to contact. Bro He's allergic to contact right now.
He doesn't like it. It makes him very uncomfortable. That's why
he gets those little, those little reactions where he throws

(09:15):
the elbows. So he does a little a little look.
You know, y'all know that that type of player in
sports where they don't like to be touched, so they
like react real quick and they might slap you, a
poke you. He don't like it, Bro, he don't like
to mix it up yet. And I think it's because
he doesn't have a strong core.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
Yeah, he doesn't have a physical strength yet he too like.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
That he needs.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
Yeah, he need to get on them hack squads. Depend
on them squads this summer.

Speaker 6 (09:35):
Y'all know.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
He need to get in that weight room, get his
base a little stronger, you know what I'm saying. Because
he can't.

Speaker 6 (09:41):
He can't.

Speaker 5 (09:41):
He can't.

Speaker 6 (09:42):
He can't bang with these guys.

Speaker 5 (09:43):
And I agree the mistake another mistake that they may
not given the other guys some minutes like you got
to put beyonbo makes him plumbly.

Speaker 6 (09:52):
What do you got those guys for? Man?

Speaker 5 (09:54):
Let him come in there for two to three four
minutes between the two guys, throw some elbows, get physical
with the Nicks, because that's why the Knicks are in
control right now, because they're the more physical team. But
I will say back to miss Johnson to that point,
the mistake he really made. Why was seven foot five
win Mayama double team and Jalen Brunton on the game
winning shot thirty feet from the basket and not in

(10:16):
the middle of the paint snatching the rebound. Man, that's
coaching because you tell him that in that huddle before
that play, you say Winby, You send Basel and Fox
out there on that hard double, but you put Winby
right in the middle of that paint. We're going to
get it.

Speaker 6 (10:31):
We can't lose on a timpion.

Speaker 5 (10:33):
They lost the championship on a chimpion. Guys, A tip
in o gianna know the tip in tip the scale
like no play we've probably ever seen in finals history?

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Man, is it wishful thinking on my part? I'm not
gonna lie to you. I really think the Spurs can
win three in a row. I just feel like every
game could have gone either way. I really feel like
we all feel they're gonna win a night.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Yeah, I feel like I don't.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
Know, man, I don't know what to think. I'm disgusted.
I don't know what to think.

Speaker 6 (11:11):
I really don't.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
I'm disgusted with this basketball team. Man. They should be
up three to one, possibly a sweep, the way that
the series has been going. And it's just one play,
like one possession has stopped this team from from being
in a commanding three to one lead. I mean, how
do you sleep that night, you know, knowing that you

(11:37):
basically just you just gave it away. And another thing
is you can't allow oj Nnobay to score thirty three points.
I mean, until three four, three days ago, Jalen Bruston
had not had one of these breakout basketball games. Even
though he scored thirty six points, it's not the thirty

(11:59):
six or forty that we're accustoming him to him having.
So they you know, they they were able to get
over the hump. But the o g thirty three points.
I mean, Josh Hart has not given the Knicks anything.
And uh Bridges Macal didn't really play that well. He
only had seven points, but thirty six by Brunton. You

(12:22):
let og score thirty three, and that's Can I ask
both y'all a question before we take this break.

Speaker 2 (12:28):
Let me ask you both a question right now where
we stand, Who's MVP of the finals right now?

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Is O G?

Speaker 6 (12:38):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (12:38):
He's two thirty point games in this series already.

Speaker 5 (12:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (12:43):
I was gonna say OG one.

Speaker 5 (12:45):
At times I thought Jalen Bronson was gonna get it
because he's a bigger name. He's the face of the
team for O G. The introverted, quiet guy. He's looking
like a combination of Jordan Pippen Bulls.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Wait a minute, cub, you going to f to far.

Speaker 6 (13:03):
Look at that number.

Speaker 3 (13:04):
I don't. I don't give it down about the numbers.
You just said Jordan and pippin combo.

Speaker 5 (13:11):
The numbers, I got it right here, point man for
rebounds one.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
Still mo not the combo. Hey, you know what's crazy?
After the first two games, Kat was the MVP.

Speaker 6 (13:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (13:26):
After the first two games, everybody was saying, man, Karl
Anthony Towns maybe the m v P. And then Jalen Brunson.
I believe it was game three when they lost. It
looked like he was chasing stats. He was like, hold up,
I got to get this m v P. Let me
just start jacking up the shot. He scored thirty, but
it was a very inefficient thirty point game. I'm with you, guys.

(13:50):
I believe it's ogannanobe because of the complete game that
he's playing. Defensively, Dylan Harper tried to challenge him. He
blocking that shot every time. That's why I don't understand,
Dearreon Fox, You're not bouncy like Dylan Harper. You don't
have the size of the strength of Dylan Harper. You
see he can do nothing with o g one on
one on a fast break. You think you're gonna do

(14:10):
something money. So right now where we stand, I think
we all we all agree that og is gonna be
the m v P. Now we know they want to
give it to Brunson, but they gave Igu Dollar the
MVP over Curry, so it ain't no where in hell
og not getting this NBA.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
Like I'm kind of picky bake up of cups of
the last week. You know, there's one thing that I've
never thought that I were hear in my lifetime that
the New York Knicks are one game away from a
world championship.

Speaker 6 (14:44):
Win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
Man, I never thought out here, I never thought I'd
be saying that. Man, the Knicks on one game away
from winning the NBA champions Are you getting me? Man?
What just happened? Man?

Speaker 5 (15:00):
As long as as long as the Aaron Fox is
getting the ball in his hands at the end of
the game, if Nick's got a good chance.

Speaker 6 (15:06):
Man that I look at it card.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
Oh goodness, well we get it man, talking about getting
with the ball in your hands at the end of
the game. We were gonna talk about when we come back,
we're gonna have to take this break. We don't talk
about Lebron obviously, he said some things. We're gonna get
into that discussion, the goat discussion, ball in your hands
and then a game type discussion. Uh, some Luca Austin

(15:32):
Reeves talk. And let's see if the Spurs can make
this comeback.

I love listen, my care A lot of Hurricanes, baby.
We one went away from the Stanley Cup, my brother,
we one went away. Look, I even went to a
Watt party the other night. Illo. I'm invested, my brother.
I'm really here right now, my Hurricanes. I give it
to the Golden Night, the little petty.

Speaker 6 (17:44):
But we about to put them to sleep. We put
them to sleep.

Speaker 5 (17:46):
We winning it all.

Speaker 7 (17:47):
Maybe since we last spoke, how would you characterize the
increase in your hockey knowledge?

Speaker 6 (17:54):
Well, pretty much this.

Speaker 5 (17:55):
All I know is Jordan's Thaal is gonna be the
NVP oft.

Speaker 6 (17:58):
The Stanley Cup. I know that month, and we got
my boys tank over. You see what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (18:02):
I know some of the players. Now, don't try to
play with me out. I'm really with my Hurricanes.

Speaker 6 (18:07):
Man, We're really here man.

Speaker 5 (18:08):
We're gonna do it with Pete boblow Man.

Speaker 7 (18:10):
So you contend that Jordan's stall will be hoisting the
con smythe trophy.

Speaker 5 (18:16):
I never really heard, no disrespected that guy. You know
all the time. Great to get his name on the trophy,
but I've never really heard of him.

Speaker 6 (18:24):
Man, you know what I'm saying. I'm just I'm just
here for my home team. More quick work.

Speaker 3 (18:33):
They're a good sport.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
Cup Cuffs, yeah, cup. Yeah, who gonna win the World Cup?

Speaker 6 (18:37):
You know I got family members from Brazil.

Speaker 5 (18:39):
That's my new nickname, you know, Riojazeiro Cuff, that's my nickname.

Speaker 6 (18:42):
Who's gonna win the World Cup?

Speaker 3 (18:44):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (18:44):
Is that so I didn't? I didn't.

Speaker 7 (18:46):
I wasn't aware of that.

Speaker 6 (18:47):
You had a very Brazilian I'm half Brazilian.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
Yeah, you had a.

Speaker 7 (18:51):
Very provocative statement on social media regarding a certain type
of people from Brazil.

Speaker 1 (19:00):
Oh.

Speaker 5 (19:00):
Yeah, they they're known to have some of the most
beautiful women. You think you had me stuttering and everything.

Speaker 6 (19:05):
He got one of the most.

Speaker 5 (19:05):
Beautiful women in the world though, fellas married man, stay
away from Brazil.

Speaker 6 (19:10):
Man, But we going for him to that World Cup.

Speaker 7 (19:12):
Man, Well, according to my nine year old, he contends
that it'll be Portugal winning the World Cup. He says
that it'll be Ronaldo hoisting it and that MESSI sucks.
But again that's according to my nine year old. But
you know what, cups. We got some fresh NBA news today,
starting with Cleveland Cavaliers star James Harden. He was arrested
early this morning in Houston on a misdemeanor charge of

(19:34):
unlawfully carrying a weapon. Cops alleged that Harden had a
handgun in plain sight in the beverage cup holder of
his Mercedes instead of it being carried in a holster.
He was released on bond. Meanwhile, New York Governor Kathy
Hockel today called for the Spurs and Ticketmaster to reverse
their policy of limiting ticket sales to Game five of

(19:56):
the NBA Finals tonight to fans residing within a one
one hundred and fifty mile radius of San Antonio and
canceling existing orders made from outside of that radius. Hockel posted, quote,
thousands of New Yorkers bought tickets, booked flights, and made
plans in good faith unquote. In Major League Baseball today,

(20:17):
the New York Yankees placed outfielder Trent Grisham on the
ten day injured list with a strained right ham string. Finally,
cuffs if the Hurricanes do win the cup, will you
be donning a pair of skates and taking the ice
to partake in the lifting of the cup.

Speaker 5 (20:38):
See, I can't ice skate, man, So you're just gonna
be a very, very very motion of the situation because
I cannot. My my whole family get ice skate. They
do it every Christmas. But Bron can't even roller skate,
So it would be bad. I'll drop the trophy.

Speaker 7 (20:52):
Well, honestly, you would not be the first one to
drop the Stanley Cup. It's full of that lore.

Speaker 2 (20:56):
Back to you, guys, Well, we gonna get right into it.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
A love. We appreciate you.

Speaker 2 (21:04):
I'm sure everyone is seen or heard or listened, and
we're gonna unpack him. Lebron James says, Man, y'all done
lost your mind if y'all think I'm taking anyone hope
of myself meaning he Lebron, what's your thoughts?

Speaker 5 (21:28):
Well, it's very simple to me. Whenever you when you
come back from three to one against the team that
the entire world at that moment in time in twenty
sixteen said was the greatest basketball team that we've ever seen.
They said it was better than Jordan's Bulls. Right, So
when everybody, y'all remember Vivily, everybody was saying those Warriors

(21:50):
were better than Jordan's Bulls, right, it was.

Speaker 6 (21:53):
That's all they talked about that whole season.

Speaker 5 (21:55):
Seventy two and ten teams the eclipsed that seventy three
and nine and then Ron down three to one, come
back in that fashion on the road. I feel like
Bron always thought he was the goat man even before
that title, even his Miami Heat years.

Speaker 6 (22:12):
And you could add some of his peers that played.

Speaker 5 (22:15):
Against him and with him and those Miami Heat run
I was there a lot of them games, y'all, Like,
that's the best basketball.

Speaker 6 (22:21):
Player I've ever seen.

Speaker 5 (22:22):
I tell anybody, forget the rings, forget the finals records,
this basketball in the court. Never seen nobody who like
play like that on the court.

Speaker 6 (22:29):
Bro.

Speaker 5 (22:29):
But I just feel like it's an ego, y'all. Guys know,
being superstars and star players in the league, all the guys,
you had to have somewhat of an ego and some
sort of a delusion.

Speaker 6 (22:40):
About yourself to be that great.

Speaker 5 (22:42):
So I can only respect those comments because like he's
always been compared to the greatest ever, and we always
feel like Michael Jordan's our goat, right, I mean, growing
up in North Carolina, that was my goat until I've
seen Bron score like twenty six to twenty eight points
against the Pistons when he was twenty two, I knew
Lebron was the best, that's right. Then it didn't take
the ring for me. So like a lot of people

(23:04):
would take the rings to put dison on the cake.
Like to me, it's like, nah, I'm good man Bron
to go. So I feel like you gotta talk to
his iss.

Speaker 6 (23:10):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (23:11):
You gotta let people know because if he don't speak
for himself, yeap, people gonna have the narratives all kind
of ways.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
But could it be the case of our generation guys,
I'm gonna say forty plus, maybe forty two, forty three plus,
It's hard to say anybody other than Michael Jordan. And
you're gonna have some outliars ass cuffs. You said he
believes Lebron as a goat the younger generation. You're not

(23:39):
telling them nothing. Lebron is by far and away the
greatest player to ever play that younger generation. You getting
these gems. They all want Lebron Lebron, Lebron. No, none
of the kids say Michael Jordan. And so will it
be over time that Lebron will overtake Jordan because before Jordan,
who was quote unquot to go, you know, and because

(24:03):
all the media that their older dudes, they all say
Michael Jordan. All the media that's that does all the talking.
It's all Michael Jordan, George Joran. Now you have a
new wave of younger guys coming up in the media.
Now that narrative is going to change.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
Hmm yeah. I mean listen, if you look at Lebron James' career, man,
I mean, what can you say that that he has
not accomplished. He's basically done everything that was you know,
put before him, and he's first or second in like
every category. Obviously the full World Championships, I believe he's

(24:40):
only second to Jerry Rest and NBA Finals points, he's
the all time leading score on the second to Robert
Parrish and games played. I mean we're talking about NBA
icons and legends of these men who I've just mentioned
that that kind of you know, set the foundation for
what you know, greatness, greatness it is and what it

(25:03):
was and for him to come out and say that,
I mean, how can you not agree with him. I
would not put another player in front of me with
the accolades that I have been able to accomplish over
my career. And just like you say, like this generation,

(25:24):
my son's nineteen years old, man, he thinks Lebron James
is the greatest basketball player ever to put on the
pair of basket, all questions still to this day Lebron.
My son's in college and it's Lebron James posted everywhere
in his bedroom right now to this day. My daughter also.
But it just goes to show that, you know, there's

(25:45):
two different Like you said, generations of people who would
say Michael Jordan Lebron James. And just like Kuff said,
he has not been compared to anybody else but Michael Jordan.
So I think you know, with all that you know,
with with that being said, for him to come out
and say I am the greatest basketball player of all time,

(26:09):
I mean, how can you not say that? How can
you say that he's wrong? So, I mean, everything that
he's done speaks for itself. And to me, obviously, I'm
a little bossed because you know of what I was
able to witness as a kid, you know, watching Michael
Jordan and watching him win, you know, not losing the

(26:31):
NBA Finals and wins, you know, six World Championships. I'm
gonna be a little boased, but but Lebron James of
being the goat, greatest player of all time, I have
no problems with it.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
Yeah, ask you a question, TJ. Who is the goat
before Jordan? I used to always think that as a kid.

Speaker 5 (26:47):
Was it magic and bird between.

Speaker 6 (26:49):
Those two.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
People?

Speaker 2 (26:51):
And that's what thank Some say magic bird, I'm gonna
say World Chamberlain. Some have said Bill Rusts. I'm gonna
say Kareem. It was somebody before and then it was like, oh,
it's Michael Jordan. But I believe it was as those
gentlemen and ladies that were doing all the talking about
the goat, Michael Jordan was right there, and you got

(27:16):
the cuffs, the legend guys coming up. Now you got
all these younger dudes transitioning into media. It's gonna be
Lebron because now the Michael Wilbonds, the stephen A. Smith,
as they start to fade, now here comes a younger
group of guys that say, oh, Lebron James is that guy,

(27:37):
and it's gonna be a psychle.

Speaker 5 (27:40):
They hanging on DJ, they hanging on every day. They man,
they make up so much boy job about Broun.

Speaker 6 (27:46):
That's the thing, man, That's my thing where I can't
honestly say this, guys.

Speaker 5 (27:50):
That's why I tell people for years in the barbershop
brought up, I'm from North Carolina. I grew up an
hour and fifteen minutes where Michael Jordan was born and
raised in Womenson.

Speaker 6 (27:59):
I'm I go to the beach all the time.

Speaker 5 (28:01):
I was just saying, women within two weeks ago, that's
a famous place in our state. We love mj here.
I love the shoes. Man, I got so many Jordans
I had.

Speaker 6 (28:09):
In my life. Y'all remember those day we.

Speaker 5 (28:12):
Had the George when Jordan was playing, and you know
how that felt like we look at Michael Jordan like man,
nobody better than Mike.

Speaker 6 (28:18):
So that's why I tell people.

Speaker 5 (28:19):
For me to even say bron better than Mike, I
never thought I would say that about any player. That's
why I know Braun the greatness of me because I
can't be biased.

Speaker 6 (28:28):
I just can My dad is biased.

Speaker 5 (28:30):
My dad, you know, like you said, the older generation
guys in the sixties, man, go to a barbershop and
say Lebron better than Jordan, and any men of in
there over sixty or fifty five and up, they will
call you all kind of names.

Speaker 6 (28:44):
That's a fact, Oh Gunner names.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
Well that that who's the goat? Who isn't the goat?
We just know it's they both Lebron and Michael Jordan.
Respect you both great, great, great historical players. Again, there's
gonna be two goats in this discussion. When when you
talk the quote unquote the unks and the old heads,

(29:09):
as a youngsters would call us. Many gonna say Michael Jordan.
Very few will say Lebron. But the younger generation ninety
to one hundred percent of them, dudes are going to
say or they gonna say Michael Jordan. But the younger
kids are going to say Lebron James is the goat.

(29:30):
And that's fine because what we're seeing, what we interpret,
what we like, what we've witnessed. We're lucky enough where
we were we were able to see Michael Jordan, and
we're also able to see Lebron James like we It's
like our generation man, we've been lucky man like to

(29:51):
witness so much. This has nothing to do with sports,
but bro, we went through COVID, Like, did we ever
think like the United States were basically shut down and
we'd kind of shut like our grandkids, our grandkids gonna
be studying this in school right here, we're gonna be
helping them. Oh no, no, no, that's not what happened.

(30:13):
This is not true. You know, we we lived through that,
and so we've been we've been able to live through
uh watching Michael Jordan be that dude, and we're now
living through the tail end of Lebron being that dude.
And Lebron took the Cleveland Cavaliers to the finals, and

(30:34):
it's starting center was Zadrunis Elgauskis.

Speaker 5 (30:40):
Like with bad Le and he had bad seat when
he had big z with when he's a little older,
he had bad seat. He had got Marshall out.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
There like, yeah they lost, they got smoked, but just
look at like Eric what he had it was like
and then when he finally woned, he had great players,
and so you need great players to play with you.
But in my mind, man, both of those dudes obviously great, great,

(31:08):
great players. The goat debate will continue to live on.
And we're gonna take this break and when we get
back again, we're gonna get back right back into these Lakers.
But no Lebron. We'll get right back to these Lakers.
But no Lebron. That's plexical burst. That's Cuffs, the legend.
I'm TJ. Shimazada up on Game Fox Sports Radio, will

(31:29):
be right back. Welcome back in up on Game Cuffs
the legend, Plexical Burroughs, I'm tj O Shimazada.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
We gonna get right to it.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
Many in the Lakers organization believe we don't got a
lot of time, so we're gonna go. The defensive issues
of Luca Donchez and Austin Reeves playing together is overblown.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
I don't agree.

Speaker 2 (31:55):
Cuffs man, talk to me please, Like, what what are
they thinking?

Speaker 6 (31:59):
Bro?

Speaker 5 (32:00):
Well, I know we're up at Jim, so I'm gonna
keep it real spicy and real quick. Luca Donnis, I
know that's your golf buddy, that's your homie. You and
Austin Reeves have developed a good friendship on and off
the court.

Speaker 6 (32:10):
I feel you, man. Y'all the Calabasas.

Speaker 5 (32:12):
Boys, y'all living good out there on the Pacific Coast
Highway with the vibes unmatched. Listen, Luca, Luca, Luke, Luke,
You're never winning a championship ring with Austin Reids as
your number two option, my brother, So just go ahead
and get ready to watch ant man Yo Kic Janni's
He's probably gonna get traded to Popley Boston, so you
might see Yannis get another ring. You know you're about

(32:34):
to see Jaylen Bronson get a ring, your former teammate
who came off the bench with you in Dallas. You
about to get a ring before you, Luca, and you're
gonna be with Austin Reeves. Two hundred million North American
dollars for Auston Reeds. Are y'all kidding me?

Speaker 6 (32:48):
That's how I feel?

Speaker 3 (32:49):
Are you so?

Speaker 4 (32:50):
So?

Speaker 3 (32:50):
If Lebron James remains a member of the Los Angeles
Lakers with a off fifteen and Luca on the team,
you don't think they don't think that they have the
opportunity to win it.

Speaker 5 (33:01):
Hashtag is tell Braun, I tell Braun a day to
day basis. Listen, go to San Antonio if they lose
the chip and be getting that or d L Row,
Greg Popovitch, the Yoda, the mastermind.

Speaker 6 (33:14):
So that's really who's running things in San Antonio. That's
really who running things.

Speaker 5 (33:18):
So have that zoom call, hopping that zoom call with
Papa Benbrun. Y'all got a great rapport with the relationship
from the Olympics and all that y'all arts rifles back
in the Day's get it together because it's never gonna happen.
Man Braun is not gonna get his fift riad where
Austin Reeds.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
Bro How can how can anybody within the Lakers organization
watch these playoffs and what is transpired and taking place
in phil If Austin Reeves and Luca are on the
court at the same time that they not food, How

(33:55):
can you watch these playoffs and that's who are they guarding?
Can you watch these playoffs and think that that pairing
is going to do and this is my team? How
can we watch these playoffs and say what are we
gonna do?

Speaker 3 (34:11):
They're like, what are they thinking? Are they basketball guys? Like?
What are they thinking? I mean, I mean just moving
forward as we continue to watch you know these NBA finals. Okay,
so he's going to come back better. They're going to
be hungry because of the way they went out win,
lose a draw with the San Antonio Spurs, They're going
to come back better. So with no brun and you're

(34:31):
talking about Austin Reeves and Luca playing one and.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
Two, you can have one defensive liability on the court,
you cannot you too, you can have one.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
You can't even have one.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
Well, we know that Luca walking lot next have one
in Brunton, but he tries, he don't walk into the liability.
But well, at least you know Brusson goes out there
and he draws some charges. He tries, I mean from
a defensive standpoint, But Luca is just he's just taking
it to a hold of the level.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
He's just a part of his lifestyle. So this his
lifestyle to not playing the defense.

Speaker 5 (35:08):
Well, I've heard that the teams that are interested in
getting Austin Reeves that bag the Brooklyn nets. You got
the pissons out there, a lurking and you Gotlanta. So
I would say, after reason, I feel like his agent
is doing a good job right now because he's creating
that leverage where he can he can raise the price
a little bit on La because he wants to twenty.

(35:28):
Why not get to twenty?

Speaker 6 (35:30):
If you off the ree.

Speaker 5 (35:31):
Squeeze all the juice out of the arm, right, like
get every get mute for everything off the reason.

Speaker 6 (35:37):
I hope, I hope.

Speaker 5 (35:38):
I'm listen, man, Laker fans, I want Austin Reason to
get paid. He's he's playing just las Yeah, I mean yeah.
If it has anything with doing hendering Lebron for striving
for five and getting number five, man, I'm just not
with the playing so Tail Broun the hashtag go to Denver,
go to San Antonio or Golden.

Speaker 2 (36:00):
Would this be considered a max contract for Austin Reeves?

Speaker 6 (36:04):
Yes, of course. What I'm saying, did it salary?

Speaker 3 (36:07):
Did it? Did it not?

Speaker 2 (36:08):
Used to be guys that got max contracts were guys
that were quote unquote you had to be like a
superstar to get a max contract.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
You're getting ready, You had to be a dude.

Speaker 6 (36:22):
Dude.

Speaker 3 (36:25):
Yeah right, no, no, no, all that has changed with
the amount of games that you need to play and
all you get. I'm not saying it's easy. If you
make a first, second, or third seam, then you're eligible
before a max contract. These days, the landscape for NBA
contract that's totally changed over the last ten years.

Speaker 5 (36:41):
I know, I know we're short on it, right, But
can I ask y'all before we go? Yoannest for Jalen Brown,
who says no, I.

Speaker 3 (36:49):
Was getting ready to ask you about this Austin.

Speaker 5 (36:53):
Brad Stevens is in the shrubbery right now. I'm hearing
from real reliable people around elite. Brad Stevens is not
going to see it back and be quiet and watch
the Knicks get the championship and let them take over
the East Coast and the Eastern Conference.

Speaker 6 (37:06):
Well, I have heard that everybody's available, Tatum.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
I have heard that Jalen Brown it may be on
the move, But how where the smoke? That's fine? So
how true is it that he may become a member
of the Houston Rockets. What's the possibility in that? Because
that's what I've been hearing.

Speaker 5 (37:24):
I've heard similar things as far as him and Udoka,
that chemistry they had lived on the same.

Speaker 6 (37:29):
When Uduka was the head coach. I could see that fit.

Speaker 5 (37:32):
I could see Jabari Smith got to include Jabari Smith
in that deal probby Tarry Easton, you know the Celtics.
They got to get some more depth around the stars.
You know, I feel like with the Celtics, like I
feel like Derek White, it could be on the table
and that possible trade with either one of those situations.

Speaker 2 (37:46):
Hey, isn't it crazy? Isn't it crazy? How when the
Celtics won the championship, they were, man, everybody on the
team three in d they got.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
They have all this depth they got.

Speaker 2 (37:57):
Come now, Spurs, it's the next it's Oklahoma City.

Speaker 3 (38:03):
Nobody even told it.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
Literally, when Boston won a championship, it was, man, what
are people gonna do with this team moving forward in
the future? And now we gotta make moves.

Speaker 6 (38:13):
You know what happens? They lost Drew Holliday.

Speaker 5 (38:16):
Man, that piece that you don't realize sometimes on a team,
a championship team, that component, the X factor. That's what
the Spurs are missing. Y'all tell me right quick. If
the Spurs had a Rondo or Chris Paul, even Chris
Paul last year.

Speaker 2 (38:30):
Oh, they they'd be up in the series right now.

Speaker 5 (38:32):
For sure, last eight minutes they win the game, right
because he closed the game. He plays real basketball as
a port all right, Aaron Fox, my brother, if you
have another stinker, tonight, we are sending you to Pakistan, Bangladesh.

Speaker 3 (38:45):
We're sending speak.

Speaker 2 (38:49):
He speaking of tonight obviously Game five.

Speaker 3 (38:54):
Who you got?

Speaker 5 (38:56):
Oh, it's Spurs woodshed. It's gonna be a woodshed in
the album Tonight. You know you're gonna see David Robinsons
zoom in Kim Duncan you know he's the worst dress player.
I haven't seen Butt on camera.

Speaker 6 (39:07):
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 5 (39:08):
He don't care man, he got he got like what
three hundred men? He don't care about putting on no outfit.
The camera is gonna be on all the old Spurs.
They should win I say by at least in right,
because I feel like they're gonna get them momentum back,
and all the press are gonna be on the Knicks
in game six.

Speaker 2 (39:23):
They've led every game. I'm not worried about the Digits.
I'm not worried the league. Can you maintain the lead,
But I I also I have the Spurs winning yeah tonight.

Speaker 3 (39:35):
I don't really think I'm worried about the Spurs. I mean,
obviously they don't win, this is over with, but I
just don't see them getting out of Madison Square Garden.
If they do win this game, it's gonna be a
tough and if they do find a way somehow through
a miracle to make it out of them, then I
believe the Spurs take it in seven. But I think
thank for the night, they're gonna be. They're gonna play spirit.

(39:57):
It's gonna be a spirited effort and they'll win tonight.
Like I said, like cups elect about ten points.

Speaker 2 (40:02):
We all got the Spurs. We all have the Spurs
winning the night. I'm with you, plex they win Game six,
the Spurs will be the NBA champions. But they just
haven't been able to finish.

Speaker 6 (40:13):
Man.

Speaker 2 (40:13):
That is Cuff's the legend. That's Plexico Burgh some I'm TJ. Housmans.
That's been up on game Man. We appreciate you guys
locking in with If y'all stay toothed in Fox Sports Radio,
we'll see y'all next week.
