I sweat when I work out, so I do sweat
down you don't wear work out that I don't. But
what I do, I sweat and I just need and
I don't swear. Yeah, I feel like some some women
wear thongs when they work out and stuff like that.
I just I don't care about a pantyline when I workout,
So I do wear underwear.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Yeah. So now I have some chorts that have built
in underwear with them. Okay, and with those, yeah, those
you're not really well I don't think you're supposed to.
But if I wear like spandexy type things, yes, I
do wear underwear.
Speaker 4 (01:40):
So and those are helped like when you run, they
have the kind of compression. Okay, got all right?
Speaker 2 (01:44):
Well just a question, man, do you wear underwear when
you work out? Yes? Or no? Absolutely? That's a wild question.

ever ate up Fixes Yeah, La Fixing Soul Kitchen, and
(03:32):
so they're actually opening a location in Detroit. Yes, and
the owner of Fixings is Kevin Johnson and his wife Michelle.
They own it. And he actually used to play in
the NBA and he also was the mayor of Sacramento.
Interesting by the way, from Sacramento. Yeah, Nina Parker, Nina Nina,
so she definitely knows him. Yeah, So we want to
(03:53):
shine a light on him just because I love to
see transitions from being in the NBA to becoming a mayor.
I don't know who else has done that. That's a
big becoming restaurant. Yeah, tool, So we'll have some more
of that for you guys when it comes to Kevin

sometimes people can get discouraged and depress and it can
sometimes paralize you. But I love the fact that you're
able to feel like motivated by this and do something
(05:55):
about it.
Speaker 9 (05:55):
Yeah, thank you, because it's hard. I'm there. I'm like,

She deserves it, Yes she does.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
She's already in the Radio Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
So this is the New York State Broadcasters Association that
is doing this one. The ceremony is going to take
place on October twenty sixth. Well deserved to our very
own Antie Martinez.
Speaker 4 (08:27):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:27):
Yes, And she also has that great r IRL podcast
in real life.
Speaker 4 (08:31):
You don't like that podcast.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Yeah, she's been doing her thing and she's been producing.
You see some of the specials that she did for
the fiftieth anniversary of Hip Hop.
Speaker 3 (08:40):
Remember she ran the marathon that's on my bucket list.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
I do remember that in New York.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Yeah, you're going to run it?
Speaker 4 (08:46):
No, no, no, I remember. I remember when she ran it.
Angela said she's going to run it at some point,
and I am no, I'm not wanting going to cheer
my friend on as she does it.
Speaker 2 (08:54):
Yes, And she's been in this space for quite some
time and she's been doing her things. She was also
an Essence Festival and she was a lead producer for
the festival. This year, she executive produced ABC's Hip Hop
at fifty special. And of course, you know she is
cemented in the Class of twenty twenty four's Hollywood Walk
of Fame.
Speaker 3 (09:14):
She'll be doing that as well.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
She really is a living legend.
Speaker 2 (09:17):
And listen, I love that Auntie is getting all of
these flowers. But you know what's most important to her.
I think her son at Syracuse right now. If you
want to talk to Auntie about anything, talk to her
about Nico, her little boy. Beautiful. He's like a big
boy now, I guess so. And she also has her
barbecue happening August nineteenth here in New York. So that's
going to be in Brooklyn. You can go to Power
(09:38):
one oh five onefm dot com to find out more
about that. Now, let's talk about Kuavo for a second.
He pushed back his Rocket Power release date. That's his album.
It was supposed to be on Friday, but now it's
not coming out until August eighteenth, all right, he posted,
we got to run some more tests before the rocket
is ready to launch, all right, Rocket Power? Right, yes, indeed,
And you guys know he did this conversation for the
(10:00):
fans on his YouTube page. It was an intimate conversation
where he talks about the grief that he's been experiencing,
his emotions, his newfound purpose, and of course working on
the new album.
Speaker 3 (10:11):
Here's what he had to say.
Speaker 2 (10:12):
About any type of signs from takeoff as he worked
on this every.
Speaker 10 (10:16):
Migo record, I come down there, I record the hook
and the verse, and then I go play it for
the boys and they tell me what's you know, what
I'm saying, what's going and what they like and what
they're gonna get on, and then we'll take it to
like the album. So that's how we finish it. So
now he's gone, and I don't have nobody to, you know,
to play the music folk. So now I just like
just try to connect with the earth. I'm just trying
(10:37):
to hear him like that.
Speaker 6 (10:38):
But I don't really like.
Speaker 10 (10:39):
Nobody else's opinion because they don't know how. You can't
tell me. Yeah, no, it don't make no sense. I
gotta let the rocket hear.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
All right.
Speaker 2 (10:47):
And in other hip hop news, little Baby has given
back to his community yet again, getting ready for school.
Can y'all believe it's back to school time already? I
can't believe it.
Speaker 3 (10:57):
It feels like kid's.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
Just got out of school out.
Speaker 4 (11:00):
Yes, I was doing.
Speaker 2 (11:01):
Yeah, And depending on what city you're in, some kids
go back way earlier August now yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
I used to be like, oh, why is it summer
over already? My daughter goes back in August. She was
ready get mad in September. All right. Well, he did
a shoe giveaway and foot locker in Atlanta, So shout
out to him for that. You know how important it
is to have that fresh.
Speaker 4 (11:23):
Outfit and fresh shoes too, all.
Speaker 2 (11:26):
Right, So shout out to him for always. And I
feel like there's always been things that he's been doing
to get back, and he did open a seafood restaurant
to in Atlanta. I want to go.
Speaker 4 (11:35):
I know that's not your thing, Angel, but I got
some chicken and I got you some vegetables.
Speaker 2 (11:39):
I can do all of that, all right. So shout
out to to little Baby for always doing positive things.
And lastly, Hally Bailly is getting ready to launch her
solo music career. She's been doing her things right the
Little Mermaid. She announced her debut solo single called Angel
is going to be released this week. Okay, okay, so
(11:59):
shout out to her for that. You can actually pre
say that if you go to the link that's in
her bio. So Chloe Bailey has already been doing her thing,
doing her solo music.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
So now Hallie's going to be doing her thing.
Speaker 2 (12:09):
I love the two of them together, but I love
the way that they've separated themselves still best of friends.
Speaker 4 (12:14):
Clearly they still support each other really really good.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Yes, so get ready for that coming out on Friday
as well. Well, that is your yee t. And when
we come back, we have about last night. That's when
we talk about what we did last night. Okay, it's
way up at Angela Ye, yeah, last night.
Speaker 6 (12:30):
So about last night.
Speaker 2 (12:32):
Last night, last night, Es.
Speaker 6 (12:34):

three of that outfit.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Not looking too new to me, Maino. Now you know,
it's about last night.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
That's where we discussed what we did last night, and
Jasmine and I actually did a little food tour. Yeah,
in Detroit. So shout out to my guy Lee. You
know he's in the restaurant business.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
Yeah, we love to eat.
Speaker 2 (13:04):
Oh let me tell you something. Detroit when it comes
to restaurants, Okay, they have some of the most amazing
restaurants and the most fun places to frequent.
Speaker 4 (13:13):
What's the name of the restaurant we went to the
last time we were in Nice, No, not Mad Nice.
That Mad Nice was very good. But also the place
that it was I ate seafood in there and that
was Fishbone.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
Ever go out there, there's you know what. So the
thing about Corne Island and Detroit is there's a couple
that people really like and that are good and there's
some that aren't. So it really depends on which one
you go to because I think they're all individually different. Yeah. So,
but you know I do like a shwarma and that's
a very Detroit thing too, those swarmers. Detroit really does
have good food, yeah they do. And so just shout
(13:47):
out to everybody there and also a lot of black
owned businesses. Central Kitchen, you know, that's a place that
I always like to go to.
Speaker 3 (13:53):
Petty Cash.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Shout out to Petty Cashvezo. When I was there last time,
Ice Wear Vezzol actually did a dinner for me and
from Mary Sheffield, honoring both of us that yeah, you know,
honor like that, but just.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
They gave you something, but they gave you a plaque of.
Speaker 3 (14:09):
But that was Mary Sheffield.
Speaker 2 (14:10):
And we actually have the Spirit of Detroit Awards, and
that Spirit of Detroit award is for Way for Angela yee.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
You know Mary Sheffield.
Speaker 2 (14:16):
Shei's our city council president all right in Detroit, and
she's going to be the mayor. Yes after the next election.
She's running for mayor.
Speaker 3 (14:24):

of things, he said.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
Yeam's first interesting.
Speaker 2 (14:48):
I love, Yes, you can't get.
Speaker 4 (14:50):

My favorite fiction. Has got some dope catfish for this.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
I like catfish. I like also like corn bread.
Speaker 2 (15:08):
Okay, you got corn bread. I may have made that face,
but yeah, So shout out to that. Because another amazing
restaurant is going to be coming to Detroit. And so
this was just a location announcement. The ribbon cuting is
going to be later on when they actually open up
(15:28):
the restaurant. Okay, and so I did my guy prevail
out there? He has a club I got to go.
And when I tell you it's not open yet, this
club is a man. Now we're going to open up
the club out there, Jasmin. We're going out there. It's
it's not open yet, but it's almost done. If y'all
look at his Instagram page. You could see like the
progress of him getting this space. I went to go
(15:49):
see it when he first got it, before any work
was done to it.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
And when I tell you, he's made it amazing. And
the other thing he.
Speaker 2 (15:54):
Did in his club is he had a different portradge
drawn of women who are icons. Beautiful. Yeah, so he
has all these different portraits of different women who are
icons that are going to be up around the club
because you know, women are killing it. I mean we've
been doing it, but I feel like this is the
time right now, acknowledgment. I love it. Okay, ladies, So
(16:15):
all of the entrepreneurship.
Speaker 3 (16:16):

outfit last night?

out very soon supposed to? Is this the one I
supposed to the.

playing we're supposed to film that. Yeah, okay, we gotta
do this.
Speaker 2 (16:40):
Well, listen, we're gonna soon have coffee. Uplifts people here
in the studio.
Speaker 7 (16:44):
But I want to film me tasting coffee. That that's
a whole piece of content of me actually trying coffee.
Speaker 4 (16:52):
On the highlight of it is going to be you
in caffeine. That's I don't know.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
I don't mix a caffeine.
Speaker 4 (16:59):

I'm thirty and her man is sixty. Well, you're madly
in love? Is he in love with you?
Speaker 8 (19:06):
I believe so?
Speaker 12 (19:07):

Speaker 2 (19:08):
Okay, So how did y'all hook up? So?
Speaker 13 (19:11):

Speaker 9 (19:13):

Speaker 13 (19:17):
Smile on his face, and he's like, hey, young lady,
how are you doing.
Speaker 9 (19:21):
I mean, he doesn't look his age, there's an active aide.
He puts himself up very well.
Speaker 3 (19:28):
Have you any of your friends or family?
Speaker 11 (19:30):

Speaker 2 (19:30):
What do they think?
Speaker 12 (19:31):
So?
Speaker 11 (19:32):
I talked to my dad about it, and my dad
was like, are you sure about this smile?
Speaker 9 (19:36):
And I'm like, yes, I'm really sure, Like I haven't
been more sure in my life. My mom congratulates me.
Speaker 2 (19:42):
Yeah, how old is your day?
Speaker 13 (19:45):
My dad is around her age, so my dad is
about fifty eight.
Speaker 2 (19:48):
Okay, so let me ask you this. What do you
find different about dating an older man.
Speaker 9 (19:53):
He's a lot more mature, and he knows what he
wants out of life, and he gets better.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Good.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
Well, listen, there's nothing wrong with that.
Speaker 2 (20:04):
Sixty three is the new sixty?
Speaker 13 (20:07):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Is Is he taking care of you in the bed?
Speaker 5 (20:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 9 (20:16):
Almost definitely, he makes sure he takes care of No,
doesn't need any of that.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Oh, I like that.
Speaker 4 (20:24):
I like that for you. Got to give a honeypackage.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Nuts whoa Well, thank you so much and good luck
with that. That's a good secret. You in love? Yes,
I am? I am.
Speaker 4 (20:45):

Speaker 2 (20:46):
Okay, well, we love love. I like that for you,
Thank you, thank you so much.
Speaker 5 (20:51):
No problem?
Speaker 3 (20:52):
What's that anatymous color?
Speaker 8 (20:54):
Hello?
Speaker 2 (20:55):
You want to tell us a secret? Yes, Mariam, Okay,
I'm listening. All right.
Speaker 8 (21:00):
My boyfriend been talking to this girl for a while.
He didn't know I knew about it. So I added
the girl on Facebook and now me and her been
talking and I think we've about to start dating him.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Good, good, Well, that's the best revenge.
Speaker 7 (21:14):
That's not revenge at bring on in gosh, yeah, we
gonna see what happened.
Speaker 2 (21:18):
But everybody right, yeah, we go see.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
I mean that is like, so you're enjoying this woman?
Speaker 2 (21:23):
You like her?
Speaker 5 (21:24):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (21:24):
I like her?
Speaker 8 (21:25):
I see why he like her too?
Speaker 4 (21:27):
What do you like about her?
Speaker 9 (21:29):
She's cool?
Speaker 8 (21:29):
Were the same time? We get along real well.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
This is a good girl, pretty me? This is it? Man?
Speaker 3 (21:35):
I wansten to what's your know?
Speaker 2 (21:36):
No, this is a good woman right here. She's a
good woman.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
You know what, someboddy.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
I have a friend who did that before, but she
didn't tell the guy. She just started dating the other
girl on the side. Nice.
Speaker 8 (21:47):
Well see, I want to see his reaction when I
say I got a friend and she come in too?
Speaker 2 (21:52):
Do I do that often?
Speaker 11 (21:54):
Now?
Speaker 14 (21:54):
My Really?
Speaker 8 (21:54):
We want to see how I go?
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Yeah, see how I go?
Speaker 3 (21:57):
I wish you the best of lucky?
Speaker 2 (21:58):
Sound a good spirit?
Speaker 4 (21:59):
Can you call us back and tell us how it goes?
Speaker 2 (22:02):
Okay? All right, thank you, good luck? All right?
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Well that was tell us a secret.
Speaker 2 (22:08):
And eight hundred two nine fifty is a number in
case you couldn't get through and you have a secret
that you want to share with us. You can always
leave a message and when we come back, we have
your yee tee. Let's talk about some former Lizzo dancers.
Three of them have filed a lawsuit against Liza. Will
tell you what that's about. It's way up at Angela.
Speaker 5 (22:25):
Yee.
Speaker 6 (22:25):
Sure she's about to blow the lid off this spot.
Speaker 2 (22:28):
Let's get it.
Speaker 6 (22:29):
Angela's feeling that yee te.
Speaker 3 (22:30):
Come and get the tea.
Speaker 2 (22:33):
What's up? Its way up with Angela. Yee Angela yee.
Jasmine is here.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
Yes, I'm here, Angela.
Speaker 2 (22:38):
Mano is here. And let's talk about Summer Walker and
Lille Meech. This is getting even Messierra No. So this
went viral. There's some ring camera footage and it looks
like little Meech is entering a woman's apartment in Houston.
Speaker 4 (22:53):
Well, it's on camera, and you know she camera right.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
Summer had already been posting that. You know she, I
guess was tired of getting cheated on. And remember she
got into it with Jada and dasty Or because she
was like, she doesn't want to be Jada Wada.
Speaker 4 (23:09):
I don't know why she brought them into it, why
she brought Jada into it.
Speaker 7 (23:12):
She shouldn't have did that, but we got some smoke
fall overhead.
Speaker 2 (23:15):
Oh oh my gosh. I don't think that she wants
to go from bad to worse.
Speaker 4 (23:24):
No shame shade now.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
She also posted on her social media page villain era
a shift in a person's priorities as they reject the
societal pressure to always play nice. She put that up
as the definition, and then she said villain era activated.
And then she posted Satan, who was the god of
this world, has blinded the minds of those who don't believe.
(23:47):
They are unable to see the glorious light of the
good news. They don't understand this message about the glory
of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God. And
she said, well, that makes sense why everyone is evil
to the pit of their soul on this planet. She's
going through it, she is.
Speaker 4 (24:02):
We're going to get some good music. She always produces
good music.
Speaker 2 (24:04):
But that's terrible that we have. We got shoulders up here.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
Watching Mayo would love to be.
Speaker 2 (24:15):
May I'm superhero.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
May Would you be in an exclusive relationship with Summer?
Could you not cheat on her? Like allegedly meeched it?
Speaker 14 (24:24):
So what?
Speaker 2 (24:26):
No, I didn't understand the question, I Summer just take
your time, Okay, no reason to jump out there. Just
it's okay. You know you got a lot of things
going on as a mom. You don't need to deal
with these guys.
Speaker 4 (24:40):
With three kids, right, twins?
Speaker 7 (24:41):
And I think she has three kids. Need someone to talk,
somebody to listen.
Speaker 4 (24:46):
Okay, I thought you were trying to holler.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
No, he just wants to be friends, right if it
can help, have you met Summer Walker, but I can help,
So shout out to you, Summer Walker, and maybe just
don't even pay attention to social media. I definitely don't
pay attention to May now arrested. This is crazy, am Iya,
God not. This is what I don't understand. I'm just
trying to protect to everyone who's protecting media. I don't
(25:09):
want her to come at you on social media after
you do something crazy and protecting Medo, like what about me?
What about mainos rights? You know, but let's talk about
it when you change the outfit. This is crazy because
you're going to be wearing these clothes. Fes, I'm the
bad guy on all occasions. Moving on. For three former
Lizzo's dancers have filed a lossit against her they've accused
(25:32):
her of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment.
This lawsuit was filed on Tuesday. They also allowed to
that she pressured one of them to touch a new
performer at an Amsterdam club and subjected the group to
an excruciating audition after leveling false accusations that they were
drinking on the job. Now, they also said that she
called attention to one dancer's weight gain and later berated
(25:53):
them then fired them. And that was because she recorded
a meeting because of a health condition. I don't believe
this story.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
Well, we don't know, all right.
Speaker 2 (26:02):
This suit does not say if Maison knew about allegations
linked to the dance captain. And according to this report,
they said the captain of her team was actually deriding
those who had premarital sex while sharing luke sexual fantasy,
simulating oral sex, and publicly discussing the virginity of one
of the plaintiffs. Wow, all right, now, reps for Liszo
(26:23):
have not immediately responded to requests for comments.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
Hm, okay, we gotta we gotta follow this story. Angela,
I'm intrigued.
Speaker 2 (26:31):
Yes, you guys, I am, you know, shocked. But again,
a lawsuit does not mean that something happened, all right. Well,
reps for Lizzo did not immediately respond to requests for comment,
and they've been trying to reach her production company as well,
and those calls have been unsuccessful. But yeah, there's a
lot going on, so you guys can read about all
of these allegations. But again, there are allegations, so we
(26:53):
will find out what really happened at some point.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
I'm locked in now, Angela all right.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
Well, that is your yeete and when we come back,
we have under the radar. These are some stories that
you may not see in the front headlines of the news,
but we definitely feel like you need to know. It's
way yu put Angela yee under the radar.
Speaker 6 (27:09):
Next, yeah, news, this in the news that relates to you.
These stories are flying under the radar.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
What's up?
Speaker 2 (27:15):
It's way yup? Put Angela yee. I'm Angela yee. And
Jasmine is here, yes, Mano is here. I am here,
all right? And what app hasn't built a new video
messaging piechure?
Speaker 3 (27:23):
Do y'all use What's.
Speaker 4 (27:24):
App only when I'm out of the country, Okay.
Speaker 2 (27:27):
Yeah, I use it?
Speaker 5 (27:27):
You use it?
Speaker 2 (27:28):
Of course you do? Why you say that, Angela, Yeah,
what was that about, because you tell us people be
creeping on What's App? I didn't know that.
Speaker 3 (27:36):
And it's also a great way to send video.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
But now you can actually record and send video clips
directly in the app, so it's not that you have
to record it onto your phone and then send it,
but you can do it in the app.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
It's an instant video message.
Speaker 2 (27:48):
They can be up to sixty seconds long, and they're
protected with their end to end encryption service. So it's
a great way to make sure whatever videos you would say,
I'd like to communicate with people from dr.
Speaker 4 (27:59):
I bet you do.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Oh the place you hate going?
Speaker 4 (28:01):
I hate it there?
Speaker 2 (28:03):
It all right? Well, the company said that new update
has begun rolling out on the app and it will
be available to everybody in the coming weeks.
Speaker 4 (28:10):
Okay, I like that.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
You know, earlier this year they had an update that
lets you edit messages in the app, so as long
as you do that within fifteen minutes of sending it,
so you can edit your messages. So that's good. And
you know Meta owns that. By the way, I didn't
know that. All right now, Kristin Armstrong, she is no
longer married to her high school sweetheart, Brandon Smith. But
she has a new husband and the two of them
(28:31):
actually helped take care of her ex together all right.
She got a terrifying phone call in two thousand and eight.
Her husband had been involved in a car accident. It
was a really bad accident and they couldn't say if
he was alive or not.
Speaker 3 (28:44):
And she said, what will I do if Brandon is gone?
Speaker 2 (28:46):
To her mom? Now, she had been married for two years,
but they were together since they were in high school.
She learned that he was in the narrow trauma intensive
care unit after he got tee boned by a commercial truck.
Speaker 3 (28:59):
Well, he needed around the clock care. He moves into
a nursing.
Speaker 2 (29:01):
Facility, and she says she had a lot of talks
with God and she decided she was going to take
care of him until the day that he died, which
is amazing. She moved on though, right well, she and
her husband. She has a new husband, James Armstrong. They've
been married since twenty fifteen, and so they go and
see him regularly, and their three kids go see him
regularly also. She said, we bring brand into our house
every week and we take him out to restaurants. What
(29:23):
makes it really beautiful is how much my family has
accepted Brandon as a part of their family.
Speaker 7 (29:27):
So she divorced him after the accident, yes, and been
married somebody else.
Speaker 2 (29:31):
Yeah, she married somebody else. Yeah, but you know, he
was living. He had to have around the clock cared
But she does with her husband still go and see
him and take care of him and have the kids
go and visit him. So she always wants to make
sure that he's still a part of her life.
Speaker 4 (29:45):
I would love for someone to do that for me,
you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
Yeah, So I think that's a beautiful thing I want.
You know, let's go see your X man. Yeah, that's
take care. I mean, it was a tragedy, you.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
Know, for him, and you will hope somebody will take
care of you like that, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (29:59):
Yeah, take care of your ex boyfriend. Come on, Jazz,
I think that's really dope and it's very hard to
you know, heart It touches your heart strings. All right now,
let's talk about something else that could touch your heartstrings.
Best food, All right now. The readers have ranked the
ten best fast food restaurants in the United States. Okay, so,
according to this reader ranked list. Number ten on the list,
(30:23):
it's Popeyes, Okay, I got to be a higher it
should be continued. Number nine is Burger King. Some people
love the onion rings there. Number are good Sonic. I've
never had sonic I have. Number seven is Taco Bell.
Speaker 4 (30:35):
I haven't had that years.
Speaker 2 (30:35):
I dated a guy who worked at Taco Bell once. Really,
what was that last year?
Speaker 3 (30:40):
That's not nice, man, Actually, when I was when I
was in.
Speaker 2 (30:45):
Number six is RBS okay, number and by the way,
Eminem used to love Taco Bell when I worked for him.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
Number five is raising Canes.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
Of good chicken strips. There's a new raisin Canes in
New York, right, It's like.
Speaker 2 (30:57):
A chicken chicken place. Yeah, I feel like it's in
New Orleans.
Speaker 4 (31:00):
Its bad rouge too, Yeah, but I could have sworn
I seen one in New York too, all right.
Speaker 2 (31:04):
Number four is Wendy's. Number three is McDonald's. Number two
is in and Out Burger. I never had that either.
And number one is Chick fil A.
Speaker 4 (31:11):
I think that misplaced. Is Popeyes. It should not be.
Number ten should be higher up, higher up. Also, no
shade of Arby's. But I only like I don't really
like Arby's like that because I don't eat beef, but
they have good curly fries. I'm not sure if number
six is a good place for them. In and out Burger,
I feel.
Speaker 2 (31:26):
By the way, KFC didn't make the list. Nobody eat
at KFC no more, I guess, I guess not. I
am surprised that Sonic is on here in Rby.
Speaker 4 (31:37):
I'm so what's good?
Speaker 2 (31:39):
Because that's you very hyped up? I am what's a
good date for you? Taking you with any of these places?
Speaker 12 (31:44):
You know?
Speaker 2 (31:44):
I don't like Arby Raising Kings. They have really good yes,
give you yeah, I don't need much. All right, Well,
number one Chick fil A. I'm sure that's not a surprise.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
Do you think this is the appropriate?
Speaker 2 (31:58):
I tell you some of these places I have been
to ever, so I can't really see this. Last time
we had taco Bill, you know, I think I've only
had it like three or four times in my life.
All right, Well, that is your under the raidar And
when we come back, we got the mix at the
top of the hour, plus Mellow Racks from Young Money
is going to be joining us. It is way up
at Angela Yee She's like the.
Speaker 8 (32:17):
Talk like they Angela Jean, like they Angela Jee.
Speaker 6 (32:21):
And she's spilling it all. This is yet.
Speaker 2 (32:24):
Way, what's up his way up at Angela Yee. I'm
Angela Yee. And Jasmine is here, Yes, Mano is here.
He's using Jasmine's blanket, wearing a sad clothes he's had
on for three days, which is crazy. That's cool, all right.
Dwayne Wade and Gabrielle Union, they recently were in Parents
(32:45):
magazine and they were talking about while living in Florida
was not an option for their family, they actually moved
to California. He had said previously that his family did
not feel accepted or comfortable in Florida. He said, when
you have the kind of rhetoric that is being a
bouse in Florida and adapted into law, that's not an option.
If my child isn't safe there. We have family and
(33:06):
friends who don't have the privilege of moving. So we
are going to be fighting till we are out of
breath to protect all kids who are oppressed. That is
our responsibility as people with large platforms and as people
who folks trust. They trust us because we say the
hard thing. I can respect that, Yeah, because Florida is
definitely and from this is from the top down, it's
(33:26):
just trying to make it not a welcoming place. Yeah,
And a lot of people getting out of there. Yeah, people.
I mean, while a lot of people are moving there
because the tax breaks and things like that, and it's
a beautiful place it is to be. Unfortunately because of
the governor there and the leadership, they're making it a
hostile place.
Speaker 4 (33:43):
And you know, unfortunately everyone doesn't have the option or
the means to move.
Speaker 5 (33:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
So he said, you know, they do, but they want
to make sure that they're also standing up for people
who don't have that option. Okay, So they chose California
after they sold their house in Miami. They said that
finding a community for Zaya was a big part of that.
They said, we felt that California was a place that
would allow her to blossom and grow. She's going to
be a junior in high school now, and she's been
(34:08):
able to be accepted and become herself there. Love it
all right, And other good news. Ludacris has donated fifty
thousand dollars to the Children's Theater of Cincinnati. So back
in July, he performed at the Hard Rock Casino in Cincinnati.
He pledged fifty thousand to the Children's Theater and that's
to help support it's forty eight million dollar restoration campaign
(34:28):
for that theater building. So that's really a dope thing
to do. He said, I'm drawing to the Children's Theaters
project in Cincinnati because of the plans to develop new
works that hit on the topics that matter to kids today. Okay,
the theme I see here is making sure that the
kids are going to be thriving. Yeah, all right now.
He's also Ludacris is on the cover of the Men's
Health issue that's for the fiftieth anniversary of Hip hop,
(34:52):
and so he's talking about himself and this whole issue
is of course about working out and taking care of yourself,
even mentally, and he said, we've seen a lot of
our heroes starting to pass away, and even younger ones.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
There's drugs, there's health issues.
Speaker 2 (35:05):
Because of social media, we're reminded of that every single day,
and I think people are taking a little more responsibility
for their health and being proactive. I want to live
for as long as I possibly can, not only for myself,
but for my children and my future children's children, you know.
And he also talks about when he was twenty nine
he lost his father after a long battle with alcoholism.
He said his father dying at fifty two was a
(35:26):
catalyst for him to prioritize his own health. So almost
daily he does fifty two blocks that's a New York
City street fighting style and martial arts to two trainers,
which helps him maintain his mental health. Interesting do you
know about this fifty two blocks made?
Speaker 14 (35:39):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (35:40):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (35:40):
I never heard of him, not from New York. Okay,
and ITA's little Chris right, No, it's okay, all.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
Right, but you know where Jasmine is from?
Speaker 4 (35:49):
Oh Maha.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
Now normally wait for all Jasmine.
Speaker 4 (35:54):
Yes they are.
Speaker 2 (35:55):
They're having a parade. No, but in Omaha there is
actually a parade in the works, and that is to
celebrate Terrence Bud Crawford. That's also the reason Mayino is
wearing the same outfit all week because Terrence Crufford did
beat Aero Spencer Junior in a fight on Saturday, and
so everyone in Omaha is excited. According to Omaha City Council,
women money the Johnson of District to North Omaha. So yes,
(36:19):
that is going to be going down Dasmond. You're from Omaha.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
I am. I was born and raised in Omaha. I
just haven't been back in forever, but I am from
I know you should I should go. I just have
some family there, but I don't. I left after I
graduate and I never came back, so I don't. You know,
it's kind of hard for me to connect like that
with Omaha, but I do have because I just had. No.
I love Omaha. I just don't go back because no,
(36:43):
my mom lives in d C.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
You know, like about your friends.
Speaker 4 (36:47):
My friends live in d C and in Baltimore.
Speaker 2 (36:50):
And and blowed up.
Speaker 4 (36:52):
Now that's not true. I love Omaha, all right, but
let's you love it. I think you need to be
at this periode. Okay, there was It was Omaha Day
this weekend, and that's like a so.
Speaker 2 (37:01):
You didn't even go.
Speaker 4 (37:02):
I didn't bring it up because I was supposed to go.
My brothers are upset that I didn't go. I wasn't living.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
Well, you don't upset them with well, that's how you
were supposed to be in Omaha.
Speaker 4 (37:11):
I didn't bring it up. I didn't bring it up.
But the city went crazy because bud one, So shout
out to north Omaha.
Speaker 2 (37:18):
The bud So, y'all like the shining stars of.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
Kathy Users from Omaha. Okay, Warren Buffett from Omaha.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
We'll shout out to Omaha and that is and when
we come back, let's talk about lip service. Oh yeah,
you know, Mayno's had some viral moments on there and
this week Big Bus Vet is on, and we'll tell
you one thing she said about how she likes really
mean people. Some people called Mano Mino, so maybe she
would like him. It's way up with Angela yee.
Speaker 6 (37:47):
You up with what happens?
Speaker 3 (37:50):
Way up with Angela yee, Angela yee.
Speaker 2 (37:53):
And Jasmine is here, Yes, I'm here, Mano is here,
and let's take a moment to talk about lip service. Now.
Big Boss Vet is on this week's episode of lip Service.
It just came out yesterday. Yes, I really like her music.
By the way, you know, pretty girls walk like this
this so we love Big Boss Vet.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
And one thing that she talked about and she.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
Was really open and honest about a lot of things
that she's been through in her life. I mean, she's
been shot and she's definitely still traumatized from that and
so uh hearing she's from Saint Louis. Yes, she's from
Saint Louis. Yeah, all right, So you can actually listen
to that full interview for lip service. But what I
want to talk about is one thing she did say right,
(38:35):
because she had discussed how her ex really did traumatize
her as well and the things that they went through together.
But when asked about what type of person she likes,
she likes people who are really mean. Listen to this.
Speaker 11 (38:48):
To be honest, I like when people be means to
me once I get them, if they still mean that,
I don't like.
Speaker 2 (38:55):
Them on more. You mean to mean, Like when you
say mean to you, what do you mean?
Speaker 6 (38:59):
Like?
Speaker 11 (39:00):
So, for example, I was attracted to a person and
she was like the security of the club and she
was meaning like she was like, we're I did because
she thought that I was younger because I because I
always had a baby facing and I'm like it's right here,
I'm like where is yours?
Speaker 2 (39:15):
Well, I ain't got one.
Speaker 5 (39:16):
I'm like damn, I what can I get your numbers?
And then she was like really, I'm like.
Speaker 4 (39:22):
I was just like damn. I like that, Like like
she was.
Speaker 2 (39:26):
A real go out. Yeah, and she was mean when
you went out that she's cool. So yes, I want
to ask you guys, I feel like this is a
common thing when you're younger. Okay, you like people that
maybe are really mean or don't treat you so good.
It's kind of a challenge.
Speaker 4 (39:44):
Yeah, you know, I kind of like a challenge sometimes,
but I don't. Yeah, sometimes I like a challenge. When
I was younger, I did kind of like guys that
were a little bit more challenging. I want you to
treat me nice, though. You don't need to treat don't
be nasty to everybody else, but be you know, treat
me nice. So you could be a little you know,
reserved when it comes to everyone else, but don't be mean.
Speaker 5 (40:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (40:04):
I think just initially she was attracted. Yeah, oh, okay,
what's your number? Right?
Speaker 4 (40:09):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (40:09):
What about you? Mana now, MANA. I remember way back
in the day, Okay, we had a lip service moment
where there was a young lady on there and he
was purposely mean to her because he felt like she's
too used to people telling her how beautiful she is.
Speaker 7 (40:23):
Oh my gosh, I didn't know who she was at
the time.
Speaker 2 (40:28):
That's what sometimes you got to be mean.
Speaker 4 (40:30):
Oh my god, I.
Speaker 2 (40:32):
Don't like it. Right, I didn't remember who No, I
did not know who she was. I never heard of her.
Speaker 7 (40:39):
And then I felt like at the time that she
was just expecting me to behave in some kind of way.
Speaker 2 (40:45):
I guess just because she right, right, And so instead
you did the exact opposite. Nah, I was.
Speaker 4 (40:52):
I was because you're talking number one and number two,
I'm judging you because I cannot believe you will behave.
Speaker 2 (40:58):
But I never I was never mean to her what
she gave me. You know, people definitely beg to differ
at that time.
Speaker 4 (41:05):
They think, yeah, run that back, I was being attacked.
Speaker 2 (41:11):
But do you think there's some truth to that though,
Just getting back on track, Yeah, people women something women
do like that. I've encountered that women was like you
too nice? Who said that?
Speaker 12 (41:24):
Right?
Speaker 2 (41:28):
Was?
Speaker 7 (41:29):
Maybe maybe I was being a shoulder and they were
talking about somebody else.
Speaker 2 (41:33):
I was like, no, that I shoulder. They were talking
about someone now he was too damn lie. Just but
you guys like mean girls because I feel like sometimes
I feel like men also likes women who don't treat
him that well to.
Speaker 7 (41:47):
You, like like a challenge, like Menis I like classy
young ladies. I mean any I think anybody likes a challenge.
I don't think nobody likes things it's too easy. I
think people you generally like things that we need, that
we want work for. I think all of us have
that in us.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
Okay, Yeah, I think I'm trying to think. When I
was younger, I've always liked people who treat me really well.
I've always found it funny when people are mean, Like
it makes me laugh a little bit because.
Speaker 4 (42:13):
You're a little mean.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
Absolutely say I'm too nice.
Speaker 4 (42:18):
People don't know that.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
I really won't be mean to you until you get
to know me better. Yeah, but it's all in love.
It's all av.
Speaker 7 (42:31):
Yeah, look at navy victim.
Speaker 2 (42:35):
Of Angela's did say something. But honestly, it is something
that I think is a younger thing. When you get older,
you're like, I'm tired of people to be nice, be sweet.
Speaker 7 (42:48):
You know, you might want somebody mean to them that
does like like a challenge. Though she probably meant like
a challenge like a dude that stand for something or stand.
Speaker 3 (42:56):
On his woman like that. The woman was the bound
wasn't women.
Speaker 4 (43:01):
And men?
Speaker 2 (43:02):
Yeah, she's pan sexual. She talks about that in the
interview too sexually or romantically attracted to people regardless of
their sex or gender. Well, thank you so much, you guys.
That was lip service and choke out that full Big
Boss Vet interview. And when we come back, Mellow ract
is going to be joining us, all right. It's the
way up at Angela Yee, Mellow racks, Young Money, It's
(43:22):
way up at Angela yee.
Speaker 6 (43:25):
You.
Speaker 3 (43:27):
What's up this way up a angel Lagee. I'm Angela Yee.
Speaker 2 (43:30):
And Jasmine from the Jasmine brand dot Com is here, Yes, and.
Speaker 3 (43:33):
We got a special guest, mellow Rats. What's up?
Speaker 5 (43:37):
Hey, guys.
Speaker 2 (43:38):
This is your first time up here with us in
the NYC and the NYC, but you've been making a
lot of moves, so let's talk about it. Why are
you in New York?
Speaker 5 (43:46):
We're now in New York today.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
I have an Ovio sound show with Roy Woods and
I have a billboard coming out, my first billboard.
Speaker 5 (43:56):
Huge.
Speaker 4 (43:56):
That's a bicure.
Speaker 2 (43:57):
How do you feel blessed?
Speaker 5 (43:59):
Amazing?
Speaker 2 (44:00):
I feel alive, man. I remember my first billboard when
I started with the Breakfast Club. No, that was the
first time and it was in like my home city
in New York when we first started, and it was
such a big deal. They like filmed it and then
my parents would stop, like everybody would stop and take pictures.
It is a huge deal. Congratulations, And it's a big
(44:20):
one too, and it's like video, Oh beautiful, beautiful.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
Okay, well, congratulations.
Speaker 2 (44:29):
We actually just interview Roy Woods too on my podcast,
so he's so amazing. Yeah. Well, since you brought up
your first billboard, we actually had a little fun game
to play with you, and we're going to talk about
first Okay, do you remember your first kiss? Yes?
Speaker 4 (44:46):
What was his name?
Speaker 2 (44:47):
Don't you that.
Speaker 4 (44:49):
Somebody?
Speaker 2 (44:50):
Well maybe she don't want to blow him up? Okay,
first name, nickname Isy, And tell us what that was
like for you. Was it like, did you know what
you were doing?
Speaker 5 (44:59):
It was our sleep my mom's wedding night, and it
was a girl.
Speaker 2 (45:05):
I like that, all right.
Speaker 1 (45:08):
First heartbreak, Oh my gosh, I would say ninth grade.
Speaker 2 (45:15):
What happened?
Speaker 1 (45:16):
He went through my iPod and broke my iPod, like
slammed it down.
Speaker 2 (45:21):
Why he was crazy and it's so crazy.
Speaker 5 (45:24):
He actually just passed away.
Speaker 2 (45:26):
I'm sorry to hear that.
Speaker 1 (45:27):
Yeah, he murdered his baby mama oh my gosh, and
showed herself.
Speaker 5 (45:33):
When the FEDS came to get him.
Speaker 2 (45:35):
What crazy? Yeah, Oh my god. My mom was like,
then go do nothing with that boy.
Speaker 6 (45:47):
Real.
Speaker 2 (45:47):
That is tragic.
Speaker 4 (45:48):
We didn't think that kind of stories will cover back question. Okay,
all right, moving on.
Speaker 3 (45:56):
First performance.
Speaker 1 (45:58):
Little Wayne had a festival in California. That was my
first stage.
Speaker 2 (46:03):
I ever, that is crazy, crazy first stage because some
people would be like, oh, it was a local club
and You're like, Litle, how was that?
Speaker 4 (46:14):
How did you prepare for that?
Speaker 2 (46:15):
It was crazy. I just had to rehearsal.
Speaker 5 (46:19):
The night before the Young Money Family.
Speaker 3 (46:21):
Yeah only that, So you only rehearsed the night before.
Speaker 5 (46:24):
Yeah, girl, I went out. That was like.
Speaker 2 (46:32):
Alright, I like you get good?
Speaker 5 (46:34):
Really?
Speaker 3 (46:35):
What about your first time meeting Wayne?
Speaker 1 (46:37):
Oh, my first time meeting Mad Wayne was that his
skate park in Miami.
Speaker 5 (46:42):
I was just like, oh my god, like and.
Speaker 2 (46:45):
That was a planned meeting.
Speaker 1 (46:46):
I cried after I left, wow, because I just looked
at him and I just couldn't believe, like the worst
that was coming out of his mouth.
Speaker 2 (46:54):
Was it a planned meeting? Was he like, come meet me,
I want to talk to you about or did you
pop up like go meet Little Wayne and you know
you could be like, I'm a spid. We've seen that happen.
That's how Big Sean got signed to Kanye. He popped
up outside the station. Yeah, oh now I was planned. Okay,
we're talking to Young Money artist Mellow Racks.
Speaker 4 (47:17):
How was that conversation at the interaction?
Speaker 1 (47:19):
Basically I just walked in the room, he came to hello,
and then we all sat in a circle, me, my
manager Mac, and then I just started playing the music
and he was listening to it and he was like
like stuff you're talking about you know, x y Z
and yeah.
Speaker 2 (47:39):
And was it automatic, Like okay, well let's discuss how
we could get this deal done or did it take
time after that? Because you know, sometimes those conversations happen
over here or sometimes it's automatic, like.
Speaker 1 (47:49):
He was already showed my videos, like they already showed
him things about me for that meeting to even happen. Me, Tristy,
I know the fact that for him to call me
over there, I already know already wanted to sign me,
because I don't think you would waste a minute if
he didn't think he would sign me.
Speaker 2 (48:04):
Okay, you know, all right, and then when was your
first time getting engaged?
Speaker 1 (48:18):
Oh my god, I was like, listen if hew was
going good, calm hot.
Speaker 5 (48:24):
Seat when I was nineteen?
Speaker 2 (48:30):
Okay, yeah, now tell us that story. You've been elaborating
on everything, you know, why don't even say a story
like that Florida love story.
Speaker 1 (48:41):
Florida Oh yeah, Florida Broward County love story. Yeah. Yeah,
he got pardoned, he got out, thank god, he was
just kicking it and got engaged.
Speaker 2 (48:52):
Did you really think you were going to get married
because you were only nineteen? A fairy la land, I
really don't.
Speaker 6 (48:58):
Like I'm a.
Speaker 1 (48:59):
Wife with me like.
Speaker 2 (49:04):
You y'all don't ring. I learned real quick. So like, yeah,
did you get to keep the ring? Yeah? Okay, that's nice,
that is nice. Yeah, did you get it praised?
Speaker 5 (49:17):
I mean it wasn't really the value of the ring
that mattered to me.
Speaker 1 (49:20):
It was just the meaning, you know, like to me,
like everything is not about money.
Speaker 2 (49:25):
But sometimes you know, you got to ensure stuff, right, right? Yeah,
so let's do that. If we have it, right, where
is it?
Speaker 11 (49:32):
Like?
Speaker 2 (49:32):
Do you still have it? Actually have it? Okay? Yeah?
Turn it into something else like a chain. I don't
wear it I just this is their memories. Oh okay,
all right. Also your first big check.
Speaker 5 (49:44):
My first big check is from Lil Wayne.
Speaker 2 (49:46):
Okay, And what did you buy with that money or
what did you decide to do with it?
Speaker 1 (49:50):
I got my grandma out of Haiti with the money.
I spent like thirty to forty thousand dollars on getting
her out of there, and I gave my family gifts.
Speaker 5 (50:04):
I didn't. I didn't spend the money on me, Okay,
on my family.
Speaker 2 (50:07):
That must have been. That must have been a really
great feeling.
Speaker 5 (50:10):
Yeah. All the money I make, I want to spend
on my family a year.
Speaker 2 (50:13):
One hundred has right, yeah, one hundred percent. Okay. How
does the family feel about everything that you've had going
on to because they've had to see you on the overwhelmed,
they'd be like, mellow walk.
Speaker 1 (50:29):
Like my little I'll be on FaceTime with my cousins.
They'd be like in the trenches, like in the woods
or something that.
Speaker 2 (50:34):
Like little life.
Speaker 4 (50:35):
They're like, oh no.
Speaker 2 (50:36):
No, I know that's cute. That's dope. All right, Mellow
Racks is here with us, and we have more when
we come back. It's way up put angela yeekay, yeah, you.
Speaker 6 (50:49):
Back at it, bring bring in the may up with
Angela is on?
Speaker 2 (50:53):
What's up this way? You put Angela Yee, I'm Angela Yee,
and Jasmine brand is here with me. We're talking to
mellow racks from young money being that to own music.
And it spelled things like you spoke about it X
shooting up your car, be smothe that's out right now?
Did that really happen? Yeah, it's crazy what went down.
Speaker 1 (51:10):
I guess he already knows that. When I was sixteen,
I got shot, So I guess like when people know
your fears, they know how to hurt you, and like
what would hurt you? I don't know what the intent was,
but yeah, unfortunately, I just prayed about it and I
kept being great. You never take revenge like you stay silent.
Speaker 2 (51:32):
Revenge will eat away at you too. When somebody does
something to you and you're trying to figure out how
you could get back at them, you lose your focus exactly.
Speaker 1 (51:40):
But that's I just kept moving forward and just understanding
that I have a greater mission and they're trying to
sidetrack me and throw me off course. And it just
made me like, Okay, I need to move smarter so
that this never happens again.
Speaker 2 (51:54):
You know, we were talking a Big Boss VET the
other day and she had gotten shot too when she
was younger, and she was talking about them that she
has some that like if she hears a loud noise
for July, she said, it's really tough, Like, how does
that affect you? Because that is something that I can't
picture you ever being able to never think about again.
Speaker 1 (52:13):
It's so crazy just to get over being shot. I've
done so much cosmetic surgeries to remove the scar. When
I realized that the trauma is not the scar. It's
in my head mentally, because it's like all these men,
these droppers, the first thing they do they walk out,
they walk in the room, they got their gun on
their waist or their guns in the studio. Sometimes I'm
(52:34):
listening to music, you're rapping about killing and shooting people. Mentally,
it will affect you in a way like I don't
I would say life will never be the same. Yeah,
but you know, sometimes I'll be home and I have
to go somewhere in my body will be like don't move.
Speaker 5 (52:50):
People be like, oh, why you didn't show up? Anxiety.
Speaker 2 (52:53):
Yeah, and that's intuition too.
Speaker 1 (52:55):
Sometimes I won't move for the day, or I'll be
outside so much. I be like, all right, I need
to take a moment a breather to calm down, because
sometimes being outside is so overwhelming because when you go.
Speaker 5 (53:07):
Outside, it's just so much guns outside.
Speaker 2 (53:09):
Yeah, and how did that affect people around you too?
Like I'm sure your family adores you. And when they
had to get that news, what was that?
Speaker 1 (53:17):
Like my mom, she has anxiety now she has to
take medication, especially now my mom is like traditional Haitian parent.
So just just me coming here right now, like before
I leave, Like we're praying, you know what I'm saying,
Like she takes me to church, like you know, like
we heavy on the prayers.
Speaker 2 (53:37):
I had a dream. I'm like, nah, again, Mom, I
see you without their body. And then when drink, you
dream pass out and you just block out. I'm like, Mom,
came on.
Speaker 5 (53:52):
So it's the point where now I don't even drink liquor.
Speaker 1 (53:55):
I don't even smoke my mom and not so much
dreams of me getting drugged and this, and so I
just yeah, no drugs too, because I feel like it
makes anxiety worse. I'm glad I got to be level headed.
Always be aware of my surroundings. You know, it seems
like you have your head on right though.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
Yeah, we're talking to young money artists, mellow Racks, So
tell me how you got to where you got to,
like as far as even sometimes being an artist does
take money right and being able to finance like your own.
Speaker 1 (54:23):
I invested all every dollar I've ever made went into
me in my music.
Speaker 2 (54:28):
So what were you doing to make money before music?
Everybody's laughing. So there's a story here. All the police
(54:49):
go ahead.
Speaker 1 (54:52):
I mean when I was like fifteen, I had a
hair business, and then that wasn't cutting it for me.
So like I just moved on to like bigger things,
you know, flipping money, making investments.
Speaker 5 (55:08):
She was.
Speaker 4 (55:11):
Flipping money making you.
Speaker 2 (55:16):
What do you mean, oh the fast we're not trying
to get a joke. That was a joke, got caught
up in nothing.
Speaker 12 (55:26):
The joke.
Speaker 2 (55:28):
Trans okay, So you was slipping here.
Speaker 4 (55:36):
Legal stuff.
Speaker 2 (55:38):
She had the mellow Racks baby.
Speaker 5 (55:41):
But my goal is to chase my dream.
Speaker 1 (55:45):
So whatever I did in the past was always a
stepping stone to be who I am today. I don't
think any of that is cool or anything like anyone
in the streets. Should get out the streets, right.
Speaker 2 (55:58):
I don't think that should ever be the goal.
Speaker 1 (56:00):
And to be in the streets forever, right, you know,
like I got out the streets at nineteen, and everything
I'm doing now is for my son and leading an example.
I don't want my son to see anything negative about me,
or my family or anyone to think that I'm a
bad person, you know, because anything I did I had
to do because we were poor, we were broke, we
(56:22):
didn't have nothing. Because I was never the girl to
ask a man or depend on a man. I always
went out and guide it on myself. That's one thing
I will never be, no girl who acts as a
man for anything.
Speaker 2 (56:33):
All right, Mello Racks is here with us, and we
have more when we come back. It's the way you
put Angela.
Speaker 10 (56:37):
Yee, you ye.
Speaker 2 (56:43):
What's up is way you put Angela yee. I'm Angela
Yee and Jasmin Brand is here with me. We're talking
to Mellow Racks from Young Money. And your son is
five years old now, My son's five. Yeah, he's five,
all right? And what does he think when he sees
like your videos and everything? Is he Is it exciting
for him? Or do you let him watch that, you
feel like he's five. It's too grown.
Speaker 5 (57:01):
I mean, he sees me, he'd be like, Mommy, he's
so beautiful.
Speaker 2 (57:03):
I'd be like, thank you, son.
Speaker 5 (57:07):
You know, he's so smart.
Speaker 1 (57:09):
My goal right now, Like I was saying, I've been
shopped before, I've been in the hospital, couldn't walk, couldn't talk.
Colosto me bag on my stomach so I could use
the restroot. And I seen that my money couldn't do
nothing for me. Money couldn't make me happy, money couldn't
get me out of the situations. So I've learned to
(57:30):
just as long as everybody around me is happy, then
I'm happy because everyone's happy. Oh, you know, was.
Speaker 2 (57:38):
There ever a time that you thought the music wasn't
going to work out for you before you signed to
Young Money.
Speaker 1 (57:43):
I honestly didn't even think that I could even be.
I mean, to other people, I'm not anywhere, But to me,
I feel like I made it out. I feel like
a superstar already, Like I didn't even imagine me being
here right now.
Speaker 2 (57:58):
Oh, we're glad that you were to make it up
here because we've been watching the movies that you make,
and you know, initially like we saw you on the
blocks because of the engagement with Kodak, but then it's like, okay,
well let's hear who she is. And then I think
the little way and code sign and then getting a
chance to see some of your videos and then us
being able to sit down with you because I've seen
(58:18):
things you've done before, but not as in depth.
Speaker 1 (58:21):
Yeah, but now I'm really ready to like show peacet mode,
not even beast Moode.
Speaker 5 (58:25):
I'm more than that.
Speaker 1 (58:26):
I'm ready to like let people in and like be
vulnerable and let them really see like I really am talented,
and I really write my own music and I sing,
and I'm more than just a pretty face or a
nice body or like an ig model type of girl.
You know, are really just waiting on the right time
to have resources to really release everything that I've been holding.
Speaker 2 (58:50):
How is it for you being a pretty girl for
guys when you want to work with them and they're
thinking something else?
Speaker 1 (58:56):
You know, I mean, it's really hard because of course,
like nine times out of ten they're gonna flirt.
Speaker 2 (59:02):
How do you handle it? If you want to get
in the studio they're trying to flirt, Then what happens.
Like let's say somebody I want to do a song with,
but I'm feeling the vibe that they're trying to like,
I mean, I take it somewhere else. How do you handle?
Speaker 1 (59:13):
I just you just gotta know how to play the room.
I would say, like, keep a professional. If a guy's
like hitting on me, I'll be like you funny, like
you know, like take it as a joke and it
might have liked me.
Speaker 2 (59:25):
But I was just like like, boy, please me.
Speaker 4 (59:29):
I mean, you got all the girls.
Speaker 2 (59:31):
Little o me like you know, like I'll like trying
to downplay it.
Speaker 5 (59:35):
I don't put myself in a position for you like
to ever try me.
Speaker 2 (59:38):
Right, Like, we're not gonna be alone together. We're talking
to Young Money artist Mellow Racks, and there's a Young
Money compilation album on the way. Yeah, have you started
doing your part for that? We've been working on it. Okay, Ben,
what about your own project? When are you gonna put
out like a full right now?
Speaker 1 (59:56):
I'm just dropping singles because I would I would hate
for me to put out a body of and it's
not appreciated.
Speaker 2 (01:00:01):
Or maybe like an EP. You know a lot of
people will do the EP it's kind of a little
warm up.
Speaker 5 (01:00:05):
For a song.
Speaker 1 (01:00:06):
You've been coming soon, all right, so you do have
a plan. Yeah, we have a plan. I've been working.
Speaker 5 (01:00:11):
Like people would think like, oh.
Speaker 2 (01:00:13):
She hasn't dropped, she's lazy. All she does is take pictures.
Speaker 1 (01:00:17):
But it's like people don't understand clearance, the budgets, the rollout, this, this,
and like when you're on the label being like the
level that I'm on, it's way bigger artists and they're dropping,
you know, labels focused on the bigger artists.
Speaker 2 (01:00:35):
Is that fascinating for you?
Speaker 1 (01:00:37):
Yes, Like there's been times where like I would just
cry and be like, why is this happening? Like I'd
be like, oh my god, like nobody cares. But I
realized it's not that nobody cares. It's just I have
to figure it out. And that's what I'm doing.
Speaker 2 (01:00:54):
So Beast Mode is out right now, Beast moons out.
Speaker 1 (01:00:56):
I went to Jamaica and shot that in Gaza City.
It looked like he was having a time out there
any time now.
Speaker 2 (01:01:02):

kind of similar.

Speaker 1 (01:01:09):
People when she first call my phone, like.
Speaker 2 (01:01:13):
You say this, what like she's grown it up?
Speaker 5 (01:01:18):
I'm just like, all right, there's something else, something every day.
Speaker 2 (01:01:23):
But here's the thing. I've been through so much to
where that's nothing to write. All right, Well, mellow Rax,
thank you so much for stating with us and being
so open about so many things. I feel like I
