Speaker 1 (00:02):
Well, we have award winning celebrity event planner and the
founder of Easy Pasy Party Planning, Kimberly Paramount, and you're
also the author of I love this title, Hustle the
High Ticket, and we are so excited to have you here.
You're an amazing story. You started off as a teacher
and now you are the queen of celebrity event planning
(00:23):
and paying it forward and teaching people. How the heck
did that happen?
Speaker 2 (00:27):
So I started as a teacher.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
You know, when you were in high school, they make
you do this vision board and you have to come
up with everything you So I wanted ten kids, wow,
until I had one and that came.
Speaker 2 (00:43):
Yes.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
I wanted the white picket finsh you know, my house,
and I wanted the Mercedes. I was in gifted classes, right,
and so I love the way when I read to kids,
I commanded their attention. So when I grew up, I
said I want to be a teacher. Until I became one.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
And it was like, Lord, what did you tease? Don't
like this.
Speaker 3 (01:01):
I was a substitute teacher, so I taught elementary kids
and it was it was a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
It's like this.
Speaker 4 (01:07):
Imagine having ten of them at home all the time.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
That's why I changed my mind.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
So so I started and I'm like, I can't get
anything even with this salary, I can't get any of
the other things on my vision board. And so one
day I googled what can you know? What can I
invest in? I had a couple thousand dollars, and inflatable
bounce houses came up.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
Okay, I said, oh, I would crush this. There's nobody
else doing that. That is so random, Okay.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
And so I invested in those bounce houses. They came
to my house and I was like, oh my god.
Now I don't have muscles, I don't have a truck.
I don't know how I'm going to figure this out.
But it just turned into me doing more and more things. Right,
So I started going to parties and I'm like, they
need balloons, they need t shirts, they need all of
these different things. And then it blossomed them to me
(01:58):
being a full service you know, even.
Speaker 4 (02:00):
Yeah, that is so interesting that you say that, because
you're right, people need that, because nobody wants to plan
an event. I literally over the Memorial weekend had like
a little small impromptu cookout. I was like I'm never
planning this again myself. And it wasn't even that big
of a deal. So imagine all of those kids parties
where you have to make sure you have everything in
order that you need to have, but you don't want
(02:22):
to have to deal with it.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
Absolutely, it's stressful. It's a big job. So that's why
you have to leave it to the pros. It's logistics,
it's putting a team together. It's making sure that it
looks beautiful, it's making sure that it starts on time.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
All of these times I saw you said the entryway
is the most important thing on the walk up, Like
if your entryway isn't right, then it's not impressive like
that at first.
Speaker 3 (02:45):
Yes, because this is the first thing that people see.
It sets the tone for what they are about to experience, right,
and everybody stops at the entryway to take photos and
it just gives them that feeling. And you walk into
the party, you hit the impact point, right, we see
the focal point, and this is the thing that kind
(03:05):
of like ties everything in that room together.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
I'm still back on how did you go from inflatable
slides inflatable balloons to multimillion dollar business.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
Well, so I started. So I started doing events right,
and then I got pregnant. And when I get pregnant,
I can't do anything.
Speaker 2 (03:27):
Y'all get so sick.
Speaker 3 (03:29):
And so I remember saying, I have to do something
right because the bills are still coming. And so I said,
I'm gonna do I'm going to start a prop business.
I'm just gonna make props at home. This is something
I can do. And then people started asking me how
I did it, and I'm like, of course, everybody knows
how to just print this out, attach it to some
phone board and cut it out. Come to find out,
(03:51):
thirty seven hundred people did not know.
Speaker 4 (03:53):
I don't. I'm one of those thirty seven hundred and
one people don't know.
Speaker 3 (04:00):
We see this is how you know it's your gift though,
because that isn't even possible.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
I don't.
Speaker 4 (04:05):
You're right, but but you know it is also dealing
with personalities too, right, because when you're helping somebody as
far as event planning, people can be very particular. They're
under a lot of stress. What is that experience like?
Because sometimes it's not easy to have to deal with that.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
As an event planner, like you got to learn to
keep your poker face on, so like the house can
be on fire in the back, but I'm still gonna.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Show up, like, Hi, angel, everything is going amazing. Do
you need some coffee or water right now? Right?
Speaker 3 (04:36):
So you just have to You just gotta learn to pivot,
even with just with entreprenepreneurship, you can't panic.
Speaker 2 (04:43):
You gotta pivot. I had any I.
Speaker 3 (04:46):
Had any event just in the last month, and one
of our vendors canceled twenty four hours before the event.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
And this was our printer.
Speaker 3 (04:58):
So this was all of the the entry way, like
all of this stuff, and I'm just like, oh my goodness.
And my team is like they're trained, They're like, oh,
it's gonna work out. Like this is one of my slogans,
like I always say, like God will never leave you
or forsake you, Like it.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Has to rut or it has to work.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
So we split that job up between three different companies
and we got it done.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
That's period. That's why you have to have a great team. Yes,
And like you said, stay calm and be solution oriented.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
And that's what you did when you had to pivot
to from doing events during the pandemic or when you
were pregnant, and then you said, thirty four hundred people
came to you. And then now that was really the
beginning of easy PC. That was the.
Speaker 2 (05:43):
Beginning of easy PS Party planning.
Speaker 4 (05:45):
So tell us what you get with easy PS party planning.
So what exactly happens?
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Yeah, yeah, So we teach creators kind of how to
come in, how to discover what their gift is, what
is your niche because a lot of times creatives are staying, Okay,
I'm going to do the balloons, flow wraps, the flowers,
the party, I'm going to do everything. It doesn't make sense.
What's the one thing that you are great at? And
then you create streams of income around that one thing.
(06:11):
So we help them discover what their niche is. We
help them implement systems because you cannot listen Beyonce call
you and say, hey, I want you to do my event,
and you're like, okay, Beyonce, can you text me the details?
Speaker 2 (06:25):
No, Like, you need a system.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
You need a calendar booking link, right, you need like
a software to be able to streamline the actual process.
Speaker 4 (06:35):
So systems, you would say, system is okay, systems.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
So you help creatives put all this stuff together. And
then start their own business doing and.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
Start their own business doing it. Yep. We teach you
how to get your first client.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
And you have like one hundred thousand students now, yes,
just by word of mouth. How do you think your
business scaled that much?
Speaker 3 (06:56):
I would say leading with value. So I'm on social media.
I'm always posting. I'm always talking about like, hey, you
can go to you know, sticker banners, banner bugs, FedEx,
you can go to these places to you know, to
print out these products. I'm always just giving tips. Hey
you can if you're starting your business, go to event
bright dot com. These are people who are already having events. Okay,
(07:22):
reach out to them and say, hey, my name is Kim,
I'm a luxury event planner in Atlanta, Georgia. I would
like to host I would like to sponsor your event,
or I have donation dollars available for these types of events.
You send out fifty emails or text message. No fifty
emails or text messages through year CIM. But you send
(07:45):
out fifty of these you know emails, you're gonna get
at least you know ten people to write you back
and say.
Speaker 2 (07:52):
Hey, I'm interested.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
This is how you get your first client, right, and
then what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna have some
kind of flyers or QR codes thing there for everybody
that is coming to this event. They're seeing how beautiful
my work is. Right, And I'm also gonna make the
host feel like I could never do an event without Kim.
Speaker 4 (08:12):
Again, right, and then that's referrals after that.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (08:15):
Right, So, so talk.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
To me about early on for you, like learning this
whole process, because this is something that I see how
passionate you are about it and how you know from
A to Z everything. But what was that like in
the early days for you?
Speaker 2 (08:29):
The early days was it was a struggle. It was
a it was a hustle.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Right, I was trying to do everything I was doing.
If you scroll down on my Instagram, you gonna see
like I was the two two Lady. I used to
ship two Too's road ride. I used to make T shirts.
Then I started doing party like I can remember, Okay,
so this is how it would be. I would be
in my little office making the T shirts, fifty T
(08:55):
shirts for the entire party guests, and then I'm going
to make the two two the blinged out vest, right,
and then I'm going into my living room to do
the party favors, you know, the custom chip bags and
all of this stuff right in my living room. And
then I'm not even finished, en Gi. Then I'm gonna
do just to blow up just enough balloons for me
(09:15):
to have a head start for the party the next day.
Right I'm pulling up to the party, I open the door,
everything falling out.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Right.
Speaker 3 (09:24):
I'm a one woman show. So this is I had
to figure out. Like him, you need a team. If
you really want a scaling row, you gotta you gotta
get a team, right. You gotta get a coach. You
gotta get a mentor someone that's gonna that's been here
who is gonna help you, you know, prepare and be
the best person that you can be.
Speaker 2 (09:42):
Stop making all of these mistakes.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
What's the You talk about strategy, you say it's all
about strategy. It's about strategy. Talk about that, and what
are some of the biggest strategic mistakes you see entrepreneurship.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
I see people not having a strategy, being too cheap.
Speaker 4 (10:02):
If you not get what you pay for it, that's
what they say.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Do you hear me, Angie? If you know that when
you host your events. You're paying you know, twenty thousand dollars,
and you consult me and I say, hey, Angie, I
can do the same exact thing for five hundred dollars.
Speaker 2 (10:16):
Yeah, nope, gonna You're gonna run.
Speaker 3 (10:20):
Why because you know, like, this person does not value
herself to even charge her worth, right, And I know
she might be a one woman show. I know her
tablecloths probably wrinkled. She probably don't even have a backdrop
saying she using a photography. You get what I'm saying.
So that's one of the things, not having you know,
not knowing how to price properly, and then not having
(10:42):
a strategy. When I started, I was thinking that, Okay,
all I need to have is the best props and.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
The huddling hustling.
Speaker 2 (10:49):
Yes, right, but.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
I was marketing my services to cheap people, to people
who could not afford my services. So it doesn't matter
how great you are at what you do. If you
are march marketing to the wrong people, you're not gonna get.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
Now, how do you deal with at being a celebrity planner?
People who are like, I'll give you a post for this,
you know how people do like Sometimes people will be like,
but I do it. If you do this for me,
I'll do X, Y and Z and then I'll post
for you, or I'll do X, Y and Z for you.
How do you handle that? Because people do try it,
and I hear that all the time from people who
are in business. They're like, I am CIVI tired that
(11:24):
celebrities come into me and trying to get stuff for
free or super cheap.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (11:28):
I say, it's all about the strategy.
Speaker 3 (11:30):
So when I was coming up, like I have this thing, earn,
serve or pay your way into great relationships with people.
Speaker 2 (11:37):
So if you're just.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
Building your business and you don't have any clients and Beyonce,
if Angela comes to you and says, hey, I'm in
need of the core you know, and I'm gonna give
you a shout out post you're stamping me, you have
the credibility to say, Kimberly did an amazing job. So
if you're in a space where you need someone to
(11:58):
post your work, you need credibility and validity right now,
I say, do it.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
H that's awesome on so many levels. And I was
looking at your website and not only do you have
like your whole plug and play model, tell us about that,
but you also put out how the companies that helped
you fund your business. You give so much information for free,
(12:23):
that's kind of a conundrum. A lot of entrepreneurs are
in do I give away information for free? Or do
I value myself? But you you put it out there.
Speaker 2 (12:34):
This is why I.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Do free classes online. This is the exact reason put
your stuff out. Put your things out for free. As
far as like the digital products, I think this is
what makes like what I do different because I teach
creators how to make money on your feet as well
as in your sleep. Okay, because we do events on
the weekends. What happens when it's your daughter's birthday party?
(12:58):
You want to go, you want to take a story.
Sometimes we're unable to do that because we gotta take
the event because we need the money. Right, What about
digital products? What about having a product these same banners,
chip backs, all of these things. What about having a
DIY option for clients who can't afford your services or
you get what I'm saying, or drop shipping these items?
(13:19):
You can use Zazzo, Faedex, these places that will ship
these items to your client's front door, and you just
made money without touching the product or seeing the product.
So I say, you have to have, you know, multiple.
Speaker 2 (13:31):
Streams of income. And that's what I teach creatives.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
So if someone signs up, goes to EGPG, Party Planner, creative,
what's gonna happen? What do they get?
Speaker 3 (13:41):
So we have I have a free class coming up.
I'm always doing free classes online. Right now I'm doing
like this baby shower masterclass dot com. But what they're
gonna learn is how to get their first how to
create their first digital product. They're gonna learn the exact
systems that they need to automate their business so they
can make money they're sleep And they're also gonna learn
(14:02):
how to market these things, how to get your first client,
you know, the captions, the things that you need to
you know, to put out to get those clients.
Speaker 4 (14:10):
But what do you see people looking for more nowadays?
You know, all these gender reveled parties. I feel like
that was never a thing before, but I feel like
that's a more recent thing. But what are people looking
to do more that You're like, Oh, I see growth
in this area.
Speaker 2 (14:23):
As far as parties or baby showers, as far.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
As events, events, divorce parties or divorce parties is a
when I that's a niche right now, that's crazy.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
There are a lot of divorce parties I'm seeing. But
I would say, like my sweet spot is like corporate,
like people doing corporate conferences, masterminds, things like that. Baby
showers are super hot. Kid parties are super hot because.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
When are kids being born every second, every every day.
Speaker 3 (14:57):
So that's why I love our industry like it's it's
recession proof.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Right, No, absolutely, And like you said, there's all different
tiers for people. So even if it's d D D
Y I do no D I Y, then you also
can I have to think about that. You also can
help people with that, but also make money and everybody
wins because we love to pay for something that gives
us the return that we anticipated. So if I need
(15:21):
something it's done well and great, I have no problem
paying for it.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
Tell us about what you call your pink starburst effects.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
So the pink star burst it's all about having confidence
because people see you the way you see you, right
I always That's why I like to dress really cute.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
She's adorable. She's so adorable, that's insane.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
Why you have to dress the way you want to
be addressed. Okay, when you open up a pink, when
you open up a pack of starbursts, tell me which
one do you eat first?
Speaker 2 (15:53):
Pink might be read for me. I always want behind us.
She's got a red.
Speaker 4 (16:03):
Nobody like the yellow ones.
Speaker 2 (16:04):
For some reason, I get the yellow one.
Speaker 1 (16:07):
Pink pink red.
Speaker 3 (16:09):
Yeah, so pink are red? Right, So act like you
are that pink starbirds. You are the one in the
pack that everybody wants. So when you show up to
the consultation, you need to be you need to be
acting like you are the pink starbirds, right. You need
to have confidence. You need to show up exactly like
you're a pink starburst. Don't come into consultation saying, well,
(16:30):
this is my first time doing this, or I may
be able to do it.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Figure out how who not?
Speaker 3 (16:36):
How you gonna get it done? Figure out who can
do it, build a team and get it done.
Speaker 1 (16:40):
How can people work with you? Tell us about the process.
Speaker 3 (16:43):
Yeah, so I'm actually I'm always doing classes online. You
can text the word party p A r T Y
two the number six seven eight four zero three six
four zero eight and I'm gonna give them a party
planning tool.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Get say that again.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
All right, so text the word party p A R
T y two the number six seven eight four zero
three six four zero eight or just go to baby
shower masterclass dot com.
Speaker 4 (17:17):
Right, the fact that you knew that number off the
top of your head like that, you're.
Speaker 1 (17:21):
Impressed, We're totally impressed. Well, we're totally impressed with you.
We are so proud of what you've done, and we
look forward to lots of fun projects in the future
to help people scale. And if you had one parting
strategy for entrepreneurs, what would you say is the top
tip in terms of really realizing their dream?
Speaker 3 (17:44):
I would say, people, people gotta know you so they
can flow you. So start networking. Start putting yourself where
you see yourself. Start putting yourself in those rooms where
you get goose bumps and you get nervous, those are
the rooms that you deserved be in.
Speaker 2 (18:00):
So that's that's what I would say.
Speaker 4 (18:02):
I love that you said that because a lot of
times as entrepreneurs, you feel like you're in your bubble.
You just have to put your head down and grind,
But it is important to go out. You get a
lot of work done when you go into some of
these rooms.
Speaker 3 (18:12):
Absolutely, People ask like, Kim, how are you getting these clients?
It's because I'm putting myself in the rooms with those clients.
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Right.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
You don't have to be the most talented, but you
do need to have the best strategy.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
And I love that you pay it forward and you're
teaching other people how to do it. Everybody go to
these EASYPZ Party Planner work with KIMBERLYP dot com. We're
