Light on the step its way up at Angela Yee

want to shine a light on Kayla Rowe. She is
the founder of her Fantasy Box, which is a feminine
wellness company that was founded four years ago. Just recently,
her Fantasy Box launched in more than four thousand CVS
Pharmacy stores nationwide and on CBS dot Com and a
(01:20):
statement to the press, she said, to see her Fantasy
Box on shelves at CBS Pharmacy and CVS dot Com
is an incredible full circle moment. We've built this company
from the ground up without outside investment, guided by a
simple mission to create products that empower women to prioritize
their wellness with confidence. Even before this monumental expansion, her
(01:40):
Fantasy Box was on e commerce platforms like TikTok Shop
and Amazon, but still again was self funded.
Speaker 5 (01:47):

she gives amazing information on her social media page.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
It's way up kind of dream of wealthy and I

mentally and physically.
Speaker 3 (02:48):

Speaker 7 (02:57):
Happy Wealth Wednesdays everyone, and we are so excited to
bring you. You know who this person is Vivian two.
Speaker 5 (03:04):
You're rich baby, see is your rich bff.
Speaker 8 (03:07):
And she's also a former Wall Street chader.
Speaker 7 (03:09):
You guys know her from social media and the host
of podcast net Worth and Chill. And she has a
new book coming out, Well Endowed.
Speaker 4 (03:17):
Yes, you also know her other book, rich AF Yeah,
that gets referenced to New York.
Speaker 8 (03:22):
Times best selling AF.
Speaker 9 (03:24):
You know what, we have to have a fun, spicy title.
Speaker 5 (03:27):
Yes, I love it. I love it.
Speaker 8 (03:28):
Yeah I know.
Speaker 5 (03:31):
But you know, being well endowed is a great thing
in many ways.
Speaker 9 (03:33):
Yeah, I mean listen, Okay, So everybody loves to ask,
like why is it titled well endowed? But if you actually,
you know, get past the like twelve year old boy joke.
Think about the phrase well endowed. It's describing something. It's
describing an endowment. And what is an endowment? You've heard
this phrase like Harvard's endowment or your favorite charity's endowment.
(03:54):
And endowment is literally just a pile of money that
you invest, It grows, and then it allows any organized
to further their mission into perpetuity aka into the future forever.
I want all of us to be well and doubt.
I want all of us to have a pile of
money that we can invest, that can grow for the future,
so that you can actually buy the life that you want,
because I feel like so many people these days make money,
(04:16):
they work hard, and then they look at their lives
and they're like, this isn't what I bargained for. Where
did all my money go? And they have a closet
full of stuff and they're still not satisfied.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
Right now, it's a Wealth Wednesday, So Stacy Tisdill is
here and I'm tucking to Vivian to AKA you're rid
to BfV parent new book is out, Well Endowed Wealth is.
Speaker 8 (04:35):
About doing what I value.
Speaker 7 (04:37):
Yeah, how do you talk to someone about that and
convey that message to someone who's on their way up
to building wealth so that they don't fall into that
I need more money trap.
Speaker 9 (04:48):
I think social media sets us up for failure. Keeping
up with the Joneses and our parents' generation was you
looking across the street and seeing if your neighbors have
the new car and like maybe they got a flat
screen TV. But now keeping up with the Joneses is
keeping up with the Kardashians. We convince ourselves that the
next big purchase is going to make you happy. You
(05:08):
get the really fancy vacation, you get the next designer bag,
you get the next X, Y Z, and it's like
a dopamine hen and you're happy for like thirty minutes,
and it's the best thirty minutes. But then it's on
to the next thing. We have to convince ourselves and
realize that, like our regular lives are enough, we deserve
to be happy, but we don't need to necessarily buy
one more thing to be happy.
Speaker 8 (05:29):
That's mindset shifting. So what are the.
Speaker 7 (05:32):
Tools and things that you give people to stand up
to that, Because it's it's human nature, that's our brains
are wired to compare.
Speaker 8 (05:39):
So that's just gonna happen.
Speaker 7 (05:41):
And how do you know, kind of go to a
deeper level, say you don't get pulled away by that feeling.
Speaker 9 (05:47):
I ask myself this one question before I buy anything.
Do I want this thing? Or do I want people
to know I have it? But when I think about
the things in my life that I've purchased that have
brought me the most value, they're not things that are
really exciting to brag about, right, They're like I got
a really really good mattress because my back was hurting,
(06:07):
But like, what am I gonna be?
Speaker 6 (06:09):
Like?
Speaker 5 (06:09):
Hey, guys, guess kind of a mattress I have?
Speaker 4 (06:11):
I love my mattress I saw and you talk about
that in the book lib. So are you okay with
this purchase? If no one even knows about it exactly?
Those are the ones that are important, like a mattress,
all right? Stacy Tisdale is here, and.
Speaker 5 (06:24):
So is your rich bff. Vivian two is here.
Speaker 4 (06:27):
Her first book, rich af was a bestseller, and now
this next book, Well and Doubt is out.
Speaker 5 (06:32):
We have more when we come back.
Speaker 3 (06:33):
It's way up you straight financially, mentally and physically. This
is wealth Wednesday on Way Up with angela Ye.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
What's up is Way up with angela Ye, And it's
a wealth Wednesday. I love this one. My girl Stacy
Tisdale is here, but so is my girl Vivian too,
your rich bff. You also said the most important financial
decision you'll ever make is.
Speaker 9 (06:54):
Your significant other.
Speaker 4 (06:55):
Yes, yeah, yeah, Now break that down for uscause you
know for some but it's hard to look at marriage
and love as something that is a financial decision.
Speaker 9 (07:05):
Life is hard and when I go home, I don't
want to be living with a hater at home, because
that person is supposed to be your safe space. That
person is supposed to make you feel like the sun
shines out of your butt. But I know so many
people whose significant others are haters, our secret haters. They
are competitive with their partner.
Speaker 8 (07:26):
They want you to do.
Speaker 9 (07:27):
Well, but not better than them, and that is deeply problematic.
Studies have shown that if you have a conscientious partner,
you are, on average, every single year, going to make
four percent more. You are making compounding more and more
money every single year because you support each other when
things get busy, because you encourage each other to take
big opportunities because you want them to do well, even
(07:49):
if it means it outshines you. When I first started
dating my husband, and you know, he was like some
random dude I met in a bar through a coworker.
He made meaningfully more money than me, and he never
made me feel less than for making less then, and
he was so generous, both with his money but mostly
with his time and his love and his effort. And
when I decided to leave my full time job and
(08:12):
take your rich bff full time, I turned him and
I was like, what if I don't make a dollar
in the first year that I'm doing this, And he said,
do you think we'll starve on my salary?
Speaker 8 (08:23):
And I was like, okay, Daddy.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
Were buss, No, we're not.
Speaker 9 (08:25):
But because he gave me that golden parachute, I was
able to make a really big leap. I started my
own company, and it was scary at certain points, but
because I could take that big swing, I was able
to make so much more. I'll tell you that The
New York Times reported last year my business made seven
million dollars. I am the breadwinner.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
I know that.
Speaker 5 (08:48):
But here's the thing.
Speaker 9 (08:49):
I didn't get to this position of being the breadwinner
in my family without having a conscientious partner who supported
me day.
Speaker 8 (08:56):
In and day out.
Speaker 9 (08:57):
He was holding my hand when makeup is streaming down
my face, I'm in tears. Something's not working, everything's terrible.
He's been there for both and I'm telling you, I
am a richer woman because of that man.
Speaker 4 (09:10):
And it's a partner sometimes when the dynamics shift to
where he's the breadwinner, and then you're making all this
money because they'll act like they want it and then
you do it.
Speaker 5 (09:19):
And then that is hard for men too. At Times. Yeah,
but it's.
Speaker 9 (09:24):
Only hard for men if the only thing they bring
to the table is money.
Speaker 4 (09:27):
Yes, I'm just so happy for you. I had a
chance to read the book so much great information. I'm
always at forever student, and so even if somebody I
love that about you much younger than me is teaching
me things, I welcome that and I am excited about it.
Like I said, I've been filowing when you on social media,
and so I'm just happy that I had a chance
to read this book.
Speaker 5 (09:45):
Well and Down.
Speaker 9 (09:46):
Thank you, and please grab a copy of Well and Dowt.
You can get one at richbffbook dot com.
Speaker 4 (09:52):

Speaker 5 (10:02):

Speaker 10 (10:04):
Oh yeah, this is a judgment free zone.

for you, guys to tell us a secret.
Speaker 5 (10:18):

Speaker 11 (10:20):
Yes, that I have a girlfriend, but nobody knows about it.
Speaker 5 (10:23):
Why is it a secret?
Speaker 11 (10:25):
Because she is a little older than me?
Speaker 5 (10:27):
How much older?
Speaker 11 (10:29):
I'm twenty one and she is like thirty nine?
Speaker 5 (10:33):
Okay, that's not I mean twenty one thirty nine.
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Are you dating anybody else or just that person?
Speaker 11 (10:39):
Just that person?
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Do you think this is something you see long term?
Are you just having fun?
Speaker 11 (10:43):
I'm just having fun?
Speaker 5 (10:45):
Okay they said this is a new trend?
Speaker 8 (10:48):
Yes, yes, what's better.
Speaker 4 (10:50):
About dating somebody eighteen years older than you?
Speaker 11 (10:53):
You know that you don't have to get in trouble
with minors and nothing like that.
Speaker 12 (10:58):
You know?
Speaker 5 (10:59):
Does she pay for the thanks for you? And is
she more well loft? Do you stay over she pays?
Speaker 11 (11:05):
Well, I pay littlely for everything, but I make sure
I help her, you know, with everything, so you know,
and she stays over by my house.
Speaker 5 (11:14):
Email all right, well, enjoy yourself.
Speaker 11 (11:17):
Thank you. I hope, I hope I can have my
fuck on the radio.
Speaker 5 (11:20):
Too, and you will.
Speaker 11 (11:22):
Thank you.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
Anonymous Carlair, what's your secret?
Speaker 13 (11:26):
I'm messing with two women, all right, and the one
that I brought out to Virginia, seeing she don't got
a job, she don't work. She's about to get evicted,
and I just feel like she needs to go back
to Chicago at this point.
Speaker 5 (11:40):
But you brought her out there knowing all this I did.
Speaker 13 (11:43):
I did bring her out here, but you don't want
to work. It's been to work and I bust my
ass off every day.
Speaker 5 (11:48):
Okay, what about the other women?
Speaker 13 (11:50):
Well, the other one she's a teacher, she works any
daycare and if no one gets us aciety, but what
she gets, that's society. She got the disability.
Speaker 5 (12:00):
Oh okay, so what are you gonna do?
Speaker 13 (12:02):
So right now, I just feel like I guess I'm
gonna keep pretending I love her on reality.
Speaker 7 (12:07):
I don't.
Speaker 5 (12:08):
Why are you gonna pretend you love somebody you don't love?
Speaker 13 (12:11):
I will say if I brought her out here, he
would have changed when she came out here. But all
he's been doing is complaining. Is like I brought her
to my mom's house, who was to live there and
get a place, and I paid the first month rent
a security for the apartment. Now she came in and
keep up with it that she's being a victim, you know,
would be her pour forviction.
Speaker 4 (12:30):
I do want to say, though we always think that
people are gonna change, but if they are who they are,
you know you can't change anyone.
Speaker 5 (12:37):
You're right right, let's it learn, let's him learn. Thank
you all right? Take care?
Speaker 4 (12:43):

that way, And don't forget. It's a wealth Wednesday. So

the death of my son in twenty.
Speaker 6 (14:14):
Twenty one and my true room late, my.
Speaker 14 (14:16):
Uncle, my stepbrother, all in the same year. I've been
emotionally attached. I don't know how to be affection it,
but I want her to know. Monique David, I love
you. You're do an amazing job and I see you. I mean,
you're trying to love on me, ug me and Chad

If that means y'all cuddling at night, that means you're
making an attempt making even if it's making sure that
y'all have a show that you watch every week together
set aside some time it's time.
Speaker 5 (15:12):
Nothing's more valuable than that.
Speaker 6 (15:14):

Speaker 4 (15:21):
And I know I understand you've been through a lot yourself,
but she's telling you what it is you got to
really like be there for her.
Speaker 6 (15:28):
I'm definitely gonna work on.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
And she's not asking for a lot, you know, I'm
just saying to how like, how cold my heart is
so to speak or whatever.
Speaker 4 (15:36):
If you don't do nothing else, you better hug up
on your woman every single night, kiss her.
Speaker 5 (15:41):
And you know what else to do. I ain't gonna
stay it on the radio. Okay.
Speaker 14 (15:48):

Speaker 5 (16:32):
Will tell you how he made it all happen. It's
way up.
Speaker 2 (16:34):
Dream of wealthy and I don't mind sharing my wealth dog.
Speaker 3 (16:38):
Getting you straight financially, mentally, and physically. This is wealth
Wednesday on Way Up with Angela Yee.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
What's up?
Speaker 4 (16:44):
His way up at Angela Yee, and it's time for
a Wealth Wednesday. You guys are gonna love this one.
It's really special. Stacy Tis Dell is here with me.
Speaker 5 (16:51):
Of course.
Speaker 7 (16:52):
Everybody take a deep breath in and if you don't
smell good, that's because you don't know.
Speaker 5 (16:57):
Darryl Spencer.
Speaker 7 (17:00):
Flash from Shark Tank, the Chicago native and founder of
Crown Skin. A few weeks ago, Darryl walked out of
Shark Tank with a five one hundred thousand dollars deal
from Rashawn Williams.
Speaker 8 (17:12):
What did that mean to you? And I have to
say when I watched it, I teared up.
Speaker 10 (17:16):
That's like a once in a lifetime opportunity. I've always
known I wanted to be an entrepreneur somehow I wanted
to be a builder. I just didn't know what I
would do then. I've always grown up watching Shark Tank.
But then to be on the other side and actually
watched the double doors open and when I'm walking like
that was the most insane feeling ever. I gotta walk out,
(17:37):
but then also too the ramp, so like walking down
that's like the longest ten seconds ever. The door's open,
then they're all staring at you.
Speaker 4 (17:45):
Did you already know in your head who you wanted
to invest out of the Sharks.
Speaker 10 (17:49):
Yeah, you know, I feel like I wanted to do
business with somebody that looked like me.
Speaker 4 (17:53):
What were the results after Shark Tank because that was
about a month a few weeks ago.
Speaker 5 (17:58):
So what did you see happen from that appearance?
Speaker 10 (18:01):
Sales Spike? Of course Spike they called Yeah, so they
called they called the Shark Tank Effect.
Speaker 8 (18:06):
Is he really mentoring you for Sean? Yeah? Yeah, so this.
Speaker 7 (18:11):
Is like what they say, like, Okay, I got you,
I'm your partner, I'm making all these introductions.
Speaker 8 (18:15):
Does that really happen?
Speaker 10 (18:16):
Absolutely? It was two black men coming together, honestly and
really showing America what we can do if we come together.
Speaker 5 (18:25):
It's a wealth Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (18:25):
Right now, I'm with Stacy Tisdale talking to Daryl Spencer,
the creator of Crown Skin, and you saw him on
Shark Tank last month.
Speaker 7 (18:32):
As all the Sharks tell us, as all entrepreneurs know,
when you really click, it's because of your story. Yeah,
and your personal story. I mean we saw how that
really clicked with Rashan and your backstory from coming You've
made so many big companies millions and millions of dollars,
and you stepped away from that because you really want
to connect to this mission of making men think about
(18:53):
health and skincare differently. How important do you think is
that story component to entrepreneurs? They sometimes lose that.
Speaker 10 (19:00):
I think the most successful CEOs they have the best stories, right,
and I think mind it comes from personal utili but
also it comes from the idea that I created this
company because I did not see innovative products for men.
I was tired of going down the aisles right and
seeing y'all got the good stuff.
Speaker 5 (19:18):
My man using my staff, Look, get your own.
Speaker 8 (19:21):
I think he got some.
Speaker 5 (19:22):
Yeah, now he could.
Speaker 12 (19:24):
Use his own.
Speaker 5 (19:25):
Yeah, And that's what we created.
Speaker 10 (19:29):
We created the body Butter cologne and they absolutely smell amazing.
Speaker 7 (19:32):
For women's skins care products, we see images of beautiful women.
Speaker 8 (19:35):
I want skin like that.
Speaker 5 (19:36):
I want whatever you.
Speaker 7 (19:37):
Seem to find that men's sweet spot is a little
bit more about confidence, like you really push those buttons differently.
Speaker 10 (19:44):
There's so many products out in the market, right, It's
all about how you market your products. So there's innovative
ways to do it. What makes men feel seen within
our market? That's the psychological selling part about it, right,
and then we realize men want to feel confident, men
want to feel sexy when wearing it, So we leaned
into it. And then once we leaned into it, that's
when we've seen all the success because we began marketing
(20:08):
less of what we thought men needed, and then we
actually used real stats in psychology and realize, okay, cool,
Actually psychologically, men actually want to feel confident from our products.
Let's give them more of that.
Speaker 5 (20:18):
No marketing, all right.
Speaker 4 (20:19):
Darryl Spencer is here. He's already winning. Shout out to Chicago.
He got a five hundred thousand dollars investment on shark Tank,
and we have more with him when we come back.
We're talking about Crown Skin and everything he has going on.
Speaker 5 (20:30):
It's way up.
Speaker 11 (20:31):
I had a.
Speaker 2 (20:32):
Dream of wealthy, and I don't mind sharing my wealth dog.
Speaker 3 (20:35):
Getting you straight financially, mentally and physically. This is wealth
Wednesday on Way Up with Angela ye.
Speaker 5 (20:41):
What's up? His way up with Angela yee. It's a
wealth Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (20:44):
I'm at Stacy Tisdale and we are talking to a
shok Tank alum, Darryl Spencer. He got a five hundred
thousand dollar offer from Rashaun Williams last month for his
brand Crowned Skin. Now, TikTok shop has afforded you a
lot of success, So talk to us about TikTok shop,
because that is something that I see brands that are like,
I'm not even going in the stores, We're just on
(21:05):
TikTok shop, and.
Speaker 10 (21:06):
I get it. We're in a whole new day and
age of selling, right especially with like the day and
age of live selling. Live selling is huge.
Speaker 4 (21:14):
It's like the home shopping network, but anybody can access
social media.
Speaker 10 (21:17):
Yeah, first we had QBC on TV, right, but then
now we're seeing the natural shift of it, whereas now
like TikTok shop, live selling is that's the new main
way of commerce right now. I mean companies are making
millions in one live selling online. What happens is on
TikTok brands like myself, we meet the consumer where they
are right, and then we get to target. Then we
(21:37):
get to intentionally figure out what are your interests, and
then I mean you get to we get to position
things in front of you that honestly you will love,
right because I mean we're following habits and behaviors and
TikTok shop is literally just that it's one of the
biggest ways to drive consumers to purchase.
Speaker 7 (21:52):
Right now, you seem to really understand the digital marketing
e commerce space, But is that from your time in corporate.
Speaker 10 (22:00):
Yes, but I'm gonna tell you it was not always
this way. I feel like one of the biggest fallacies
is the fact of, like you just know these things.
Most times you're afraid to just jump in and do
things because you think that I don't know this. I
don't know this, and like I'm a living witness. Honestly,
I did not know all of this. I created resources
around me, I created my network, I've asked tons of questions,
(22:20):
and then I've leveled up as my company's leveled up.
I didn't know all these things. But guess what I
wouldn't have learned if I didn't start.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
It's a wealth Wednesday.
Speaker 4 (22:28):
Right now, I'm with Stacy Tisdale talking to Darryl Spencer,
the creator of Crown Skin, and you saw him on
Shock Tank last month.
Speaker 5 (22:34):
Do you remember the first person you hired?
Speaker 10 (22:36):
It was paid ads. My very first hire was someone
in paid media. Again, I understood that if you want
to generate revenue. You need attention, you gotta sell. He's
here still to this day. He's based out of London
and he leads all of paid advertising for my company,
and he is absolutely nicy.
Speaker 5 (22:50):
Are you building this company to at some point sell it?
Speaker 10 (22:53):
I'm building this company to create generational wealth for myself
and my family to come and it be a to
inspire others around me. Show you what you can do.
Speaker 4 (23:02):
Because one thing I've always learned is that's how we
should be building our companies. Whether or not you're going
to you should always be building your company so that
at some point if you want to, you have everything
and all your ducks in a row to be able.
Speaker 10 (23:13):
To do that. One of the one of my other
early lessons that I've learned as well is when you're
operating your companies, think that you want to exit tomorrow,
and operate it and structure it just that way right
early on. Don't wait into the last minute. Began operating
as quick as possible. That's one of the biggest lessons
I learned to that I do now.
Speaker 7 (23:30):
We spoke to an amazing group of three black female
venture capitalists recently, and they were saying that so many
people don't realize that your exit strategy is the way
you keep your company going. Yes, and having that clear
picture because you know our community a lot of times
people you sold your sellout. You know the community gets
mad at you. But the best way to keep that
company going is through having an exit strategy, doing those partnerships.
(23:54):
So you're thinking big picture with that as well.
Speaker 10 (23:57):
Absolutely has to go.
Speaker 4 (23:58):
Thank you so much to Daris Venton for joining us
