about them. One of these stories is fresh out of
Atlanta and it has to do with debt collection.

These stories are flying under the radar.

a keen Woods. Let's get into these under the radar stories. So,
according to reports, Metro Atlanta has the nation's highest rate
of debt collection.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Complaints in twenty twenty five, oh no in debt ooh.
Speaker 5 (18:13):
Georgia ranks first among all states for debt collection complaints
on a per capita basis, And there's several factors including
growing consumer debt burdens, more aggressive collection efforts, and high
and awareness of the FTC's complaint reporting process. So a
lot of people were complaining about these debt collectors, but
not every case involved a legitimate collection agency. There's also

a lot of fraudulent callers posing as collectors.

Have you ever had like an abusive debt collector called.

Now, there is a lawsuit happening involving Meta. Former employees
are making allegations. That is twenty six current informat Meta employees.
They're suing saying that AI assisted productivity systems unfairly placed
workers with medical medical conditions or those people unprotected leave
on their layoff lists. So basically they looked at these numbers,
(19:14):
and AI looked at these numbers, and those were the
ones that were laid off. All the plaintiffs requested protective leaves,
so disability accommodations or had we faced alleged interference with
those rights.

one one. Because we got the student loan doctor here
with us, doctor Sonya Lewis, who has actually helped over
fifty thousand people save over five hundred thousand dollars on
their student loans.

It is so confusing right now.

So I really want to make sure that people who
are concerned about their student loans or maybe even just
like not dealing with it, to know that they can
have some control over information and how they handle things.

Things really changed on July first. It was the end
of the Saves Act and the administration that big beautiful
bill is not looking so beautiful.
Speaker 6 (31:03):
No, it's not tell us exactly what happened on July first.
Speaker 5 (31:05):
So July first is a game changer because there's two
systems now as it relates to student loans. The first
system is for anyone who has had a student loan
before July first, you fall under I would say, the
old rules. And then after July first, everyone that will
take out a student loan or a new student loan
will be under the new rules. And you really have
(31:27):
to understand them. And we'll get into that today because
you have to see what will benefit you or what
will harm you.
Speaker 12 (31:32):
Let's break it down because even if you have a
student loan, it's not new. The clock starts ticking July first, yeahright,
explain that to you're.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
Okay, no, So July first, everyone, and I mean everyone
that has a student loan was supposed to go back
into repayment. But there was a lot of pushback by
this administration that was received that said, you guys didn't
notify us properly. Right, So there weren't enough emails, there
weren't any commercials. So now they had to go back
in and literally send an email that said notice one,
(32:02):
Notice two. And now they have to be prompt as
to what notices they're sending out so people can't say
I didn't receive. So we're payment now officially kicks off
September twenty ninth, twenty twenty six. Right now, of course,
Stacy Tisdale is here and we're having an important conversation
with the student loan doctor, doctor Sonya Lewis.
Speaker 12 (32:20):
And if you have a loan, now, if you don't
take the ball on this and figure out what you
want to do, they automatically pull you into a plan.
Speaker 5 (32:29):
Yeah, they're going to put you into what's called the
Tiered Standard Plan. Now that plan is given through the
Trump administration. So it's very interesting that they can just
put you in the plan that they made up, and
it's going to be based off of how much you owe.
It's going to be over how many years you can repay,
and then everything has to be paid.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
That plan is not forgiven, so now people have until
September twenty ninth. Is that okay? So what are the
different plans to choose from?
Speaker 5 (32:54):
Because I want to make this really easy for people
to understand what the options even are. The new plans
are called the Tier Standard Plan and the RP Plan.
The newer plans are going to sometimes look a little
more affordable. But here's the big deal. Instead of it
being twenty years of repayment, it's now pushed out to thirty.
Speaker 12 (33:13):
So it can look like your loan is fifty seventy
five dollars less a month.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Right, but more for ten more years?
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Wow? But hold on more.
Speaker 5 (33:22):
So let's say you go over and you switch because
you wanted to save fifty dollars and it's really about
the difference here, and you're like, I want to go back,
I want to go back. I want to get done
this in five years. Well here's the thing.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
They'll let you out, but then your clock starts back
to zero. What no forgiveness? So a zero years, So
you got to do it another twenty a whole nother
twenty years. Isn't that crazy? This feels like a trap.
Speaker 8 (33:46):
It is a trap.

talk about how people's credit are being affected by student loans.
I did a survey yesterday and I say, is anybody's
credit dropping because there's student loans?

And they were like one hundred points two hundred points.
Speaker 5 (34:50):
Could you imagine, like right now it's happening right now,
somebody's watching this credit just dropped one hundred points. Could
you imagine losing one hundred points because of this thing
going into repayment.
Speaker 8 (34:59):
Or going on.
Speaker 12 (35:00):
So this talk about that this is going to really
affect your credit effect credits.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
It's happening, right, It's what are you seeing?
Speaker 2 (35:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (35:08):
So when people don't know that they're supposed to be
in repayment and they get about ninety days late, the
credit score drops one hundred points.
Speaker 6 (35:15):
One hundred point?
Speaker 1 (35:16):
How long does it take?

This started your life?
Speaker 2 (35:18):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (35:18):
I mean, well, if we could get it cleaned up,
and most times we can, then it takes about six
months to get it back, that's some time.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
And then if you go into default, that's about two
hundred points.
Speaker 5 (35:27):
Now I want to ask you for people listening because
we do again always want to say there is hope. Yeah, right,
So yeah, about because people have to know. I didn't
see the first time that you were up here. That's
about what you do as the student loan doctor. That
can be beneficial for anybody who's listening right now. And
it's like I need to just like get focused and
take control and be empowered. Well, what I will say

is that we do provide education, but I think within knowing,
it's hope attached to it.

and then there's a seven if you just don't know

because whether you understand it or not, soon they're going
to go straight into your bank accounts to take this money.

So they're making changes that they want the Treasury Department
to be the people to garnish the wages. I would
predict that would start closer to like November December, because
they want to be on time to take tax returns
in January.

Like you said, because if you find out it's November,
you don't really know what's going on right now. If
you're in a position like I don't know what's going on,

about them. One of these stories is fresh out of
Atlanta and it has to do with debt collection.

a keen Woods. Let's get into these under the radar stories. So,
according to reports, Metro Atlanta has the nation's highest rate
of debt collection.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Complaints in twenty twenty five, oh no in debt ooh.
Speaker 5 (18:13):
Georgia ranks first among all states for debt collection complaints
on a per capita basis, And there's several factors including
growing consumer debt burdens, more aggressive collection efforts, and high
and awareness of the FTC's complaint reporting process. So a
lot of people were complaining about these debt collectors, but
not every case involved a legitimate collection agency. There's also

a lot of fraudulent callers posing as collectors.

Have you ever had like an abusive debt collector called.

Now, there is a lawsuit happening involving Meta. Former employees
are making allegations. That is twenty six current informat Meta employees.
They're suing saying that AI assisted productivity systems unfairly placed
workers with medical medical conditions or those people unprotected leave
on their layoff lists. So basically they looked at these numbers,

and AI looked at these numbers, and those were the
ones that were laid off. All the plaintiffs requested protective leaves,
so disability accommodations or had we faced alleged interference with
those rights.

Plaintiffs are saying the company relied on productivity signals that

looked at that as evidence of weaker performance or engagement,
and they did not adjust that for protected leave.

has a student loan not me. So you need to
know what's going on. You need to know what route
is the best for you to take. But the worst
thing you can do is nothing, So just pay attention.

loans are making you sick. Today is student Loan nine
one one. Because we got the student loan doctor here
with us, doctor Sonya Lewis, who has actually helped over
fifty thousand people save over five hundred thousand dollars on
their student loans.

It is so confusing right now.
Speaker 5 (30:40):
So I really want to make sure that people who
are concerned about their student loans or maybe even just
like not dealing with it, to know that they can
have some control over information and how they handle things.
Speaker 12 (30:52):
Things really changed on July first. It was the end
of the Saves Act and the administration that big beautiful
bill is not looking so beautiful.
Speaker 6 (31:03):
No, it's not tell us exactly what happened on July first.
Speaker 5 (31:05):
So July first is a game changer because there's two
systems now as it relates to student loans. The first
system is for anyone who has had a student loan
before July first, you fall under I would say, the
old rules. And then after July first, everyone that will
take out a student loan or a new student loan
will be under the new rules. And you really have
(31:27):
to understand them. And we'll get into that today because
you have to see what will benefit you or what
will harm you.
Speaker 12 (31:32):
Let's break it down because even if you have a
student loan, it's not new. The clock starts ticking July first, yeahright,
explain that to you're.
Speaker 5 (31:42):
Okay, no, So July first, everyone, and I mean everyone
that has a student loan was supposed to go back
into repayment. But there was a lot of pushback by
this administration that was received that said, you guys didn't
notify us properly. Right, So there weren't enough emails, there
weren't any commercials. So now they had to go back
in and literally send an email that said notice one,
(32:02):
Notice two. And now they have to be prompt as
to what notices they're sending out so people can't say
I didn't receive. So we're payment now officially kicks off
September twenty ninth, twenty twenty six. Right now, of course,
Stacy Tisdale is here and we're having an important conversation
with the student loan doctor, doctor Sonya Lewis.
Speaker 12 (32:20):
And if you have a loan, now, if you don't
take the ball on this and figure out what you
want to do, they automatically pull you into a plan.
Speaker 5 (32:29):
Yeah, they're going to put you into what's called the
Tiered Standard Plan. Now that plan is given through the
Trump administration. So it's very interesting that they can just
put you in the plan that they made up, and
it's going to be based off of how much you owe.
It's going to be over how many years you can repay,
and then everything has to be paid.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
That plan is not forgiven, so now people have until
September twenty ninth. Is that okay? So what are the
different plans to choose from?
Speaker 5 (32:54):
Because I want to make this really easy for people
to understand what the options even are. The new plans
are called the Tier Standard Plan and the RP Plan.
The newer plans are going to sometimes look a little
more affordable. But here's the big deal. Instead of it
being twenty years of repayment, it's now pushed out to thirty.
Speaker 12 (33:13):
So it can look like your loan is fifty seventy
five dollars less a month.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Right, but more for ten more years?
Speaker 2 (33:20):
Wow? But hold on more.
Speaker 5 (33:22):
So let's say you go over and you switch because
you wanted to save fifty dollars and it's really about
the difference here, and you're like, I want to go back,
I want to go back. I want to get done
this in five years. Well here's the thing.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
They'll let you out, but then your clock starts back
to zero. What no forgiveness? So a zero years, So
you got to do it another twenty a whole nother
twenty years. Isn't that crazy? This feels like a trap.
Speaker 8 (33:46):
It is a trap.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
Okay, yeah, so this is a T wrap. It's like, who.

talk about how people's credit are being affected by student loans.
I did a survey yesterday and I say, is anybody's
credit dropping because there's student loans?
Speaker 1 (34:46):
And they were like one hundred points two hundred points.
Speaker 5 (34:50):
Could you imagine, like right now it's happening right now,
somebody's watching this credit just dropped one hundred points. Could
you imagine losing one hundred points because of this thing
going into repayment.
Speaker 8 (34:59):
Or going on.
Speaker 12 (35:00):
So this talk about that this is going to really
affect your credit effect credits.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
It's happening, right, It's what are you seeing?
Speaker 2 (35:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 5 (35:08):
So when people don't know that they're supposed to be
in repayment and they get about ninety days late, the
credit score drops one hundred points.
Speaker 6 (35:15):
One hundred point?
Speaker 1 (35:16):
How long does it take?
Speaker 6 (35:17):
This started your life?
Speaker 2 (35:18):
Oh?
Speaker 5 (35:18):
I mean, well, if we could get it cleaned up,
and most times we can, then it takes about six
months to get it back, that's some time.
Speaker 1 (35:24):
And then if you go into default, that's about two
hundred points.
Speaker 5 (35:27):
Now I want to ask you for people listening because
we do again always want to say there is hope. Yeah, right,
So yeah, about because people have to know. I didn't
see the first time that you were up here. That's
about what you do as the student loan doctor. That
can be beneficial for anybody who's listening right now. And
it's like I need to just like get focused and
take control and be empowered. Well, what I will say

is that we do provide education, but I think within knowing,
it's hope attached to it.

on their situation. They have to figure out which plan
right now is best for them.

I want people to self identify why they're in the room,
and then there's a seven if you just don't know
right now. Of course, Stacey Tisdale is here and we're

garnishing wages and all?

Yes, yet I just came out yesterday.

So this is you have to understand this now, people,
because whether you understand it or not, soon they're going
to go straight into your bank accounts to take this money.

So they're making changes that they want the Treasury Department
to be the people to garnish the wages. I would
predict that would start closer to like November December, because
they want to be on time to take tax returns
in January.

Wow.

Yeah, Now how can people find out?
Speaker 5 (37:56):
Like you said, because if you find out it's November,
you don't really know what's going on right now. If
you're in a position like I don't know what's going on,
what can people do about that?

picture of your student loans. Like even your lenders right
