We have already experienced Jube, We've already been to the village.
We've already been to Pto. We have been partying up
on the island, having a time. Let me tell you
while we're having fun, there's a lot of things happening

(00:49):
behind the scenes.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
Yes that is.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
I love my people's out here, my girl Ayana.

Speaker 5 (00:56):
Yes, but it is big.

Speaker 4 (00:58):

And you know what all that means is when we
come back, we got to shine a light. But there's
some artists that's gonna be dropping through. We have some
surprises lined up for today. Okay, and I'm excited for this.
But tell y'all, the party don't stop. It's carnival season.
We're here in USBI and let's get it going. We're
gonna shine a light when we come back. And I
told you there's a lot of things that are happening

(01:21):
behind the scenes that people don't even understand what it
takes to put together a group like this. DJ Whatever's here,
he's also from Saint Thomas. It's got roots here as Anita.
We're gonna do all of this, all right. It's way
up China. Light is next.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Turn your lights on, y'all.

Speaker 5 (01:41):
It spreading love to those who are doing greatness.

Speaker 2 (01:43):
Shine. It's time to shine a light.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
On all right. It's way up in Angela. Ye, and
it's time to shine a light. I'm here with my
girl Jazz mein brand and may know, yes, right light,
you know we are insane Thomas right now on the waterfronts.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
That's right beautiful with the yachts.

Speaker 1 (02:04):
In the background, the mountains lusher, lush.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
In the boats in the background, and I want to.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Shine a light on our girl all of us. Ayana
Young in Deja that's right, Desa, because the two of
them have put this amazing trip for us together, and
I know it's not easy. Sometimes I have to just
go over and give Ayana a little hug because she's
been on the phone NonStop. While we are over here drinking,
eating and jumping up, she's on the phone. So stressful

(02:33):
handling business because there's artists's coming through. When I tell
you the multitasking, anybody who's put together an event knows
what that's like. Men, And when you do main no day, it's.

Speaker 6 (02:43):
A lot, it's a lot that goes on with it.
So definitely shout out to them because I saw a
Yanna yes say, I said, you look sad. I'm just
dealing with a lot.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
There's a lot of footage of her in the background
on the phone with a man in the air.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
She needs her she needs her own reality show Jasmine.

Speaker 1 (02:58):
Remember when you had the Jazzmine brand dinners. Are you
gonna bring that back?

Speaker 3 (03:01):
Yeah, that's too much work.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
So imagine this. Yeah.

Speaker 7 (03:06):
Well, the thing is I feel like every year that
she does it, it gets better and better and it gets
probably more complicated.

Speaker 4 (03:10):
It's every years.

Speaker 7 (03:12):
Yeah, that's a good sign, but it's stressful for dynamic duo.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
And I do want to also shout out my girl
Randy from iHeart because she is the person who wordinating
on the on the behalf of way up at Angela
Yee and when I tell you at Duve we had
a huge way up at Angela Yee flag. We had
phone case covers that will want proof. We had towels,
we had a little fanny packs, we had we had

(03:41):
electric and so I do want to shout out everybody
that's making it happen. And speaking of Juve, when we
come back, if you've never been to Carnival, if you've
never been to Jube, if you've never been to the Islands,
we'll tell you how it goes down here in Saint
Thomas for their carnival and for Jube and what went down.
When I tell you this has to be the best
one I've been to to this point. Let shout out

(04:02):
to the gorilla that was on there. It was on
the road. It's way up, It's.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Way up with Angela. Let's go.

Speaker 8 (04:09):
You are a media may man, right, you never know
what is gonna say.

Speaker 1 (04:14):
You never know. It's not really me that you don't
know what I'm gonna say. It's way up at Angela.
Meos here Jasmine is here. I'm here, and yesterday we
were at the village, but we also did juve. It
feels like so long ago because we literally get up
at five in the morning.

Speaker 3 (04:28):
Yeses, yes, that's you know what. That's probably one of
my favorite parts.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
Of Carnival is to get up that morning. No, no, no,
it's it's rough.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
Getting up, but it's so much fun honestly, like getting there.
So you get there. The drinking is starch immediate, yes,
and full effect because it's all the morning and three
Carnival celebration.

Speaker 3 (04:49):
If before context, it's like a parade.

Speaker 6 (04:51):
Right, It's like a big parade, NonStop party, party in
the street all over.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Water is being spray.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
I was gonna say that water being sprayed was disrespectful.
I felt like they were targeting us.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Yeah, I felt targeted, you know what.

Speaker 7 (05:06):
To be honest, I heard the key to stay out
the water is to stay by the truck because they can.
And this year we have more pain on us, right, Angela, Well.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
Let me tell you something. I got drenched with water
and paint. Yes, but it's actually very fun, but I
feel like we would target it.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
I'm not gonna lie. I ran into one of my cousins.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
And for context, Mano also has his son Vaneau, which
is amazing. I love to see it.

Speaker 7 (05:31):
Zain is a better version of Manoasy, Okay, go ahead, This.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
Son is cool. He's having a good time going with
the flow. Yes, he's hanging with the Owens.

Speaker 3 (05:43):
Because he is definitely a Waiian. Yeah, but Angela back
to so this is was this one of your favorites
so far?

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Because yeah, I think now we're like very it's so
much fun. And when you're down there, everybody's just hugging
each other. As to the music, having drinks in the street.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
All ages, it.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
Is chaos, but it's fun.

Speaker 4 (06:07):
Come with French, it's gonna be pain, what's gonna be love?

Speaker 1 (06:15):
Yeah, listen, the window is blowing. And then afterward, you know,
we all had a little chill time at the pool. Yes,
we had to eat because you can buy stuff on
the road that KFC. We still haven't had a chance too.

Speaker 4 (06:29):
With the tuna.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
And I also want to shout out our girl Lima
Road because we were on her truck. You could listen
to us out here and the Virgin Islands, the British
and the US Virgin Islands Julia Boss and when I
tell you, everybody out here the almost respect. And when
we come back, we have about last night. So we
told you what we did bright and early in the morning.
It feels like a whole other day. But now we're

(06:53):
gonna tell you what we did last night. And last
night was the village and that is one of the
highlights of this Every single night, this special performances in
the village and I stayed till the very very end.
There were some artists that I Rellie so excited to see.
We're gonna tell you who performed and what went down.
Next time you all gotta come. You are invited.

Speaker 2 (07:11):
It's way up about last night.

Speaker 1 (07:13):
Yes, I went down, Yo, it's way up at Angela. Yeah,
I'm here with Jasmine Brand That's right. And you know
you hear the breeze blowing.

Speaker 4 (07:25):
You hear it, you know.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Saying Thomas Baby, were out here for Carnival. We outside Angela, yes,
usb I and Carnival is actually tomorrow. But I'm gonna
tell you what happened last night. We were in the
village until the end.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
What's the village, Angela?

Speaker 1 (07:39):
So the villages where all the performances are happening out here,
and last night was Reaga Knights, and I'd stayed to
the end because Busy Signal performed. Yes, so I was
waiting for that performance to go down.

Speaker 3 (07:50):
How long did you stay last night?

Speaker 1 (07:52):
Man, Yeah, to the end?

Speaker 3 (07:54):
And did was that like one o'clock in the morning,
the morning, I don't even know. We're not talking.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
I can't.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
I love him midnight.

Speaker 1 (08:02):
But let's talk about how amazing the performances was. First
of all, Ourmiani hit the stage live band and Mali
Dan came on and Melay Don but Armoni back. I
want to tell you, I thought people was gonna lose
their minds in the audience. The vibes absolutely amazing, just
to see everybody out there partying, having fun. We were
out there too.

Speaker 4 (08:21):
I was out there to the end.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
Yeah, my girls, Seventh Streeter, who's out here? Versus Simmons,
they're all in time Verse. Simmons was raised in Saint Thomas.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
I didn't know that. Okay, last night was a musical night.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
Yes, last night was amazing, and I think it really
just tests the tone for what's about to happen. I'm nervous.

Speaker 3 (08:40):
What's you're nervous about?

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Angela, I'm just nervous, all right, are you nervous?

Speaker 2 (08:44):
Man?

Speaker 3 (08:44):
No, No, he's never he never scared.

Speaker 5 (08:47):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
And what I was saying earlier is that Meno has
his sons zaying out here. This is Nane's first time
experiencing something like this. So for anybody, anybody who's never
been to Carnival, what type of tips would you give
them about what to do here? In Samet Thomas, Just.

Speaker 6 (08:59):
Be open to have a great time, right, Just be
open and have a good, great time.

Speaker 4 (09:03):
Don't be worrying about your clothes, don't worrying about your look.

Speaker 6 (09:07):
Just be open and have, you know, the greatest time
that you could possibly have, you know, don't be.

Speaker 1 (09:12):
Scared, don't be worrying about nobody. Wind up by your girl.
Don't worry about your man winding up. I no girl,
because your girl can wind up. It's part of the experience.
And let me tell you something. If mister Killer bring
your girl on stage, that's a compliment. Okay, don't be
mad about it.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
She still wind up on your girl for real.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Not going to be the same at home because you
can't do what he does at all. All right, but
he's coming up next we're gonna talk to mister Killer.
We're gonna talk about what it was like being in St.
Thomas for him. He's from Grenada. Oh you know, Grenada
already gets down. They already in my comments saying you
got to come to Grenada too. But mister Killer is
coming up next. Just look at those videos on stage.
If mister Killer, bring your girl on stage, enjoy the

(09:56):
show and yeah she's gone, yeah, all right, But mister
Keller's next to do this.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Yea more way up with Angela on now.

Speaker 1 (10:07):
What's up his way? But Angela, ye is me and
maynad right. I think we want to go get another drink,
But mister Keller is here.

Speaker 9 (10:15):
Mister Keller's bless her, good morning, bless her, good morning.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
Yea, you for being a true professional, because it's briant early.
I know you've been down about here in Saint Thomas
this whole time. Tell me about your experience here so far,
first and foremost.

Speaker 9 (10:29):
Once the plane touched down, I feel happy, extremely happy,
because I'm a spoiled island boy, you know what I mean.
I'm so spoiled when you come to the islands and stuff,
just to see the waters, the trees, the.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
Beaches, you know what I mean.

Speaker 9 (10:42):
And then plus it's Carnival and you know I'm a
kind of a baby.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Yes, we know.

Speaker 9 (10:48):
We Grenadians we love the mask wherever the party at.
When it comes to Carnival, it's an extreme pleasure. So
I mean touching down in Saint Thomas and it's Carnival
and I'm performing, not just at a show, but I
performed at the Juve party.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
We were just talking about you. Absolutely listen. I'm still
trying to get paud of off me. But mister Killer,
first of all, I do want to thank you because
one of the best performances ever Angela Yide was you,
and we know you as the festival Killer. Now, if
you had to talk to people out there, because I
think sometimes people get on that stage, it can be

(11:23):
you know, I saw somebody perform last night. It was
his first time on stage. It was amazing. So I
want you to talk about your journey to how you
got to this place where everybody want to see you,
The expectations, the bar is high.

Speaker 9 (11:35):
I would say this, It began a long time for me.
I was around the age of seven and I'm not
that stage. I always say be careful with kids and
how you push them, because that's the time when they're
solbing everything, not just observing, but absorbing everything. Out of
the age of seven, the first thing I saw was Superman,
and I really wanted to be Superman at that time,

(11:58):
but I quickly found out that couldn't after after jumping
up the house with the amberland and the backstep and
you know what I mean as a kid. But the
next thing I saw was Michael Jackson.

Speaker 5 (12:08):
You know.

Speaker 9 (12:08):
It was a little black and white TV where you
after you know, turned that that that yeah, and in
the eyelids. We used to climbed the house to turn
the antenna to get the signal, you know what I mean.
And after seeing Michael Jackson as a kid, I couldn't
stop dreaming. I couldn't stop seeing myself dancing. I wanted
to be that.

Speaker 4 (12:26):
When did you start taking people's girls though I was
around age that ten.

Speaker 6 (12:33):
We call them up on the stage, like, I don't
know if they go back home with it died.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
Now.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
What a great moment though, because that Michael Jackson movie
is out right now, I haven't seen it. I haven't
seen it.

Speaker 9 (12:44):
Just yesterday my boy was telling me about it and
I can't I can't wait because, as I tell you once,
I started to dream from that time. By the age
of ten, by the age of ten, I was already performing,
going on stage and and doing my thing, and people recognize, Nah,
there was something different about that kid. And then I
started to win all the talent search on the island,

(13:05):
and then I won at the age of fifteen, I
won the main talent search in Grenada. Fifteen, you know,
win the main talent search, and I got a ticket
to go to New York. And when I end up plane,
I wasn't saying I'm going to America, the United States.
I was in New York, Michael Jackson country, you know

(13:25):
what I mean.

Speaker 2 (13:25):
It was like that.

Speaker 9 (13:26):
I was so I mean, you know, in my mind
and heart about performing and Michael Jackson. But when I
got there, it wasn't the better of roses that I expected,
to be honest with you, and I did have a
tough time and through that tough time, I had to
find myself out. And I would say this one thing
that guided me at that time was the principles that
my mother instilled at that time, and you know, the

(13:49):
love for God and understanding that you know, positivity should
be my way. So even at those that moments, you know,
I found myself still holding on to something positive.

Speaker 2 (14:02):
I'm hoping, I'm true, not hope. One day is song
saved Man.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Just amazing. And like I said, that live show is everything.
So anybody who has a chance to see mister Killer,
do not pass that. We love having you here in
Saint Thomas. I love being in St. Thimas. Thank you
all for having us here, and we'll see you in
New York. Right yep, all right, well, thank you so much.
I know you got flights to catch and when we
come back, we are gonna talk about Carnival. We have
a lot more going on. We're live here on Way

(14:27):
Up with Angelae, so live that these birds are trying
to join in on the show.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
All right, it's way up, let's go.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
You are a media maven, right, you never know.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
What A is gonna say. Ooh, I know that's man.
You never know. It's way up at Angela.

Speaker 2 (14:43):
Yee.

Speaker 1 (14:43):
I'm here with Jasmine Brandon Mayno. We are pretty litch.
We are what time is it eleven thirty or something?

Speaker 4 (14:48):
Eleven twenty six eleven to thank.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
You for being so exactly you know that's why you
are who you are. But we are out here in
Saint Thomas US, Virgin Islands. It is carnival time and
we are literally like, yeah, but this is what it's
all about.

Speaker 4 (15:04):
Right.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
If you ever said celebration, what do I need to do?
I want to go out and have a good, fun,
safe time. Yes, drink that feels like family. It's not
just drinking.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
Well, you need to say hydrated if you're going to
do that, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Definitely stay. Drink lots of weather, eat lots of Johnny Cake. Now,
I want to talk to you guys about what has
been the highlights so far of this trip for you.
So far, we've done Jube, We've been to the village,
We've been to the beach, we've been to Pto the
full on party. Yes, I just want to know what
has been your highlights? Jasmine.

Speaker 7 (15:32):
My highlight is Jube because we actually got really wet
and we got pain and we looked a mess. And
because usually I feel like we get a little little dirty,
we got really we got like film, Yeah we got
it was such a good.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Listen good filth you were and yeah, and I was
a mess, Like I really had to just like just clean.

Speaker 4 (15:53):
The first time. I like the energy of the people though.

Speaker 6 (15:56):
Like just the energy, like sometimes when you're riding on
the bus you can just look and see how into
the vibes that the people are, you know, like the dancing,
the pain throwing.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
It's just a vibe and everybody is they just know
what to do.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
Yes, it also feels like a workout. Like I said,
I didn't go to the gym, but I'm out here.
Hold on, things are blown away? Is it were really outside? Angela?

Speaker 3 (16:19):
What what's your favorite part?

Speaker 1 (16:21):
I do like do but I have fun at the
at PTO at the party. Yeah, yeah, it's what that is.
Is just it's a huge We got little early not
saying nobody names, but somebody was fried Rice.

Speaker 7 (16:37):
It was no one up here though, right yes me, Angela, okay, alright,
that that was your favorite part.

Speaker 1 (16:45):
But I want to tell you one of the highlights
for us on Way Up with Angela Ye is also
being on row FM out here and that is a
big shout out to the team. The team is fly
Lima Roe is here with us too. We're gonna get
them special things because you know, we are also at
the village and I want to say that's a highlight
to being at the village. And you know how I
know it's good because I literally can stay there for

(17:06):
like five or six hours. You are a trooper and
it don't feel like it.

Speaker 7 (17:10):
Yeah, off sidebar, the food, the food is the best.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
That's not your sidebar, that is your main bar. All right.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
We had last night was crazy yeah yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
And shout out to Lima Roe, who also had a
chef Tanisha catering for us. We had a good time,
had some good food and Lima Road was coming up
next and DJ whatever, DJ Whatever's coming up next to.
We're all out here. We're celebrating and she's gonna give
us more of the lowdown being from here, what the
guys that we need to be doing, and what's been
happening so far. She's literally filmed music videos at Carnival

(17:41):
in the past, and we've been in as Yes, all right,
it's way up, turn me up here we go upgain.

Speaker 2 (17:46):
This is way up with Angelae who.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
It's way up with Angela.

Speaker 5 (17:51):
Ye.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
We out here vibing. If you could hear me and
Lima Rose singing along to Luther.

Speaker 10 (17:55):
Good morning guys.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
You know ever hear he's shaking his head full karaoke karaoke.
But we are out here in Saint Thomas. Now whatever
you have roots here.

Speaker 4 (18:07):
Uh huh, very special place for me.

Speaker 8 (18:09):
Like I'm super happy that we hear year two, year three,
I'm super happy.

Speaker 1 (18:14):
Yes, you had a house out here. He's working on
and everything. Limareau, you know, every time we touched down,
you are the person. Yes, I remember being out here
last year and they were like, this is Limareau. She's
our superstar. She's amazing as an artist, as a business woman.
What is this time of year like for you?

Speaker 4 (18:30):
It's amazing.

Speaker 10 (18:31):
I mean it's some time to have fun, enjoy with
family and friends and just celebrate culture. You know, it's
good to see all the people from different walks of
life come to the Virgin Islands to experience carnival. Yeah, festival,
because you guys were in Saint Glory for our festival.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Yes, we were. That was a time. What do you
think is a difference between festival and Saint Kauria and
Saint Thomas, if you had to explain, honestly, I don't
think personally, I don't.

Speaker 10 (18:56):
Think it's a difference because we all felt the same.
If you ask me, we don't fit met time, but
you hear me, you too, you know, because this is
my home. Yeah, it's saying whether it's Sat Croy, Saint
Thomas or Saint John, this is my home.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
Now. We haven't done Saint John yet, I mean, but yeah,
you know what I'm saying. It is not as grand,
but it's still nice, right right. And you know what
was great about in Saint Croix for Carnival, it was
all still around the holidays. Yes, so I was out
there on my birthday.

Speaker 10 (19:29):
Everyone is off, everyone has a break from like Christmas
New Year's so a lot of people flying and it's
it's a real good time.

Speaker 1 (19:36):
Now you also own the radio station and the British
Virgin Islands and the US Virgin Islands one on one
point three row FM. What is that like for you
at this time? Because that has to be hectic being
a woman boss the way that you are, but also
knowing how crazy things are.

Speaker 10 (19:51):
Yeah, it's it's a lot because you have to have
people all over to do many different things for you.
But it's it's a good feeling because I like that
work for me doesn't feel like work, right, you know.
I enjoyed doing what I'm doing while having fun at
partying at the same time.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
You know, leadership is important because Nicks was just here.
She does the mornings, uh huh, and right before way up,
and I want to say she found out this morning
that she didn't actually have to go in, but you
know how hard that is to be out all night long.

Speaker 10 (20:23):
And then so what happened was I told them last
night to take a rest night, right, but she still
came in and she wanted to do interviews, and I'm like, God,
she didn't even rest.

Speaker 11 (20:34):
So I'm like, you know what, let's just all rest and.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Then we'll get back out of it. You have to.
They're about to head to the parade to cover the
children's parade. I love that. Listen. What I like is
people that work with us. We work together, and everybody's
happy and enjoying me and whatever work.

Speaker 4 (20:49):
Together of course for a long time.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Now, do you see yourself being here whatever permanently in
the future.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
And I definitely could see that. I definitely see that.

Speaker 11 (20:57):
That's why we're starting to work on my house like this.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
It's just beautiful. We wake up every day to just paradise.

Speaker 5 (21:03):
I love it.

Speaker 1 (21:04):
Okay, Well, listen to the views. Listen. When we're done,
we're gonna post these views from Le Moro's villa out here.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
Amazing.

Speaker 1 (21:14):
When I tell you, I was like, okay, the food
was lovely.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
Shout out.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
This. Now we do have the way it mixed for
you guys. At the top of the hour, we'll be
over here singing along and dancing along to it. Plus
the governor, Governor Albert Bryant Jr. Is gonna be here
with us as well to discuss everything that's going on.
But this is information. If you haven't been here, we're
gonna give you everything that you need to know so
that you can be equipped to come and you don't
miss out next year and you can plan the trip

(21:40):
with all of your friends. And we got all of
the power people here at the table with us right now.
Lima Road. Always thank you so much for everything that
you do.

Speaker 10 (21:47):
You're welcome anytime, Like I told y'all, whenever you guys
are in the Virgin Islands, you're always welcome.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
Okay, We'll be here a lot at whatever happens regularly,
it's way up, way.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
Up with Angela.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
You more now what's up his way up at Aansla ye,
I'm here with my guy from Saint Thomas Maino right.
Also from Saint Thomas, we have Governor Albert Bryan Junior.
Thank you for joining.

Speaker 11 (22:11):
Us, good morning, and thank you for coming back.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
Listen. Every year we're going to be somewhere different. That
means next year we'll be back again.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
We'll be back now.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
Governor, as we're thinking about your almost eight years in office,
what would you say you're most proud of.

Speaker 5 (22:24):
I think I'm most proud of being able to put
the recovery on right because when we started the recovery
from the two devastating hurricanes in twenty seventeen, it was
about an eight million dollar recovery. Now it's a twenty
four billion dollar recovery.

Speaker 1 (22:37):
I know that's right.

Speaker 5 (22:38):
So we got brand new everything, brand new schools, brand
new water pipes, brand new underground sewers, brand new hospitals
from you know, from the beginning to the end. And
besides that, you know, economy is doing so well. We've
been under four percent unemployment for like three years now.
And you know, there's so many accomplishments of the one
thing I got to say that it's really legacy create

(23:00):
We have free tuition, part time or full time at
the university for every person that graduated from a Virgin
Allen's High school.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
That's amazing.

Speaker 1 (23:08):
You know how important education is when it comes to
whatever foundation you need to lay for the future. Can
you come to the mainland and help us.

Speaker 6 (23:19):
Do you feel like you got a chance to accomplish
most of the things.

Speaker 5 (23:25):
I was telling somebody yesterday, if you had told me
ten years ago that we'd have done this much, I would.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
Have said we couldn't.

Speaker 5 (23:30):
It would be impossible because almost every goal that we did.
When you talk about renewables, we have more renewables, more
solar per capita than anywhere in the world, and we're
putting in two more big solar fields here. And I
talked about the recovery already. So when you talk about
thirteen new schools, the ability to just offer our people

(23:51):
employment in every which way, and every day we're making
new millionaires because there's so much work. Last week, last
year alone, we signed eleven billion in contracts.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
Wow, that's a listen. That's life changing for people. It
is so business owners, what.

Speaker 5 (24:06):
Else do you want to accomplish before before I leave? Yes,
I want to I want them to say I don't
have to leave.

Speaker 4 (24:13):
Okay, Oh so you hear it.

Speaker 2 (24:16):
Oh really, it's not gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (24:19):
But I want to ask you about festival because we're
here during that time. What was it when you think
of back to your youth and going to festival when
you were younger, and what it's like now being the governor.
Is that like a crazy moment when you sit back
and think, like at one point, I always just out here.
Now I'm leading this.

Speaker 5 (24:35):
You know what's what's crazy about it? I can remember
like my first picture in my carnival costume on my
dad's shoulders. It's like the eponymy of Carnival. My grandmother
was a seamstress, so I've always been involved in Carnival,
in someone's sewing costumes and then getting involved in different
troops over the years. But let me tell you, being
governor it sucks, you know.

Speaker 4 (24:55):
Why, because you can't be in the parade. You gotta
sit out and watch.

Speaker 5 (24:58):
I can't wait till I get my again, you know,
and then and then you know, you have to have decorum.

Speaker 1 (25:03):
I can't like we were, I can't be man on
the road.

Speaker 5 (25:09):
I want to be every time it comes that tell them.
I said, you set the bar for me inside. He
represents my afterlife after government. I'm gonna get all blinged
up stuff, some ice and get me.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
In the parade. It hasn't run absolutely, that's right.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
But I appreciate your leadership and I think it is
a great example for people everywhere because I know sometimes
it's hard to build trust when it comes to government.
A lot of us feel like, you know, we don't
even trust who's running our country's running our islands. So
we appreciate the fact that you are the leader that
you are.

Speaker 5 (25:40):
Thank you, and I try to get out in the
public as much as possible, I mean, people on a
one on one basis, to let him know like I'm
just like you, especially our young people. You know, there's
no magic to this. It's just hard work, dedication, and
a commitment to the people.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
Well, thank you so much, Governor Albert Bryant Jr. We
appreciate you.

Speaker 4 (25:56):
Thank you for having me with the fireworks see you there.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
Well, thank you to Governor Brian Jr. For joining us
and taking time out of your super busy schedule. Now
when we come back, we have a whole lot more
going on in the USBI we're in Saint Thomas for Carnival.
One thing we've been talking about is food. When I
tell you we all have a different palette, Mano, only
East Seafood. Jazmine Brand, I feel like she eats everything,
but I'm not sure about that. And you know, I'm

(26:20):
on that chicken. So I just had some of the
best chicken patties I've ever had. So when we come back,
we are going to talk about the US Virgin Islands,
Saint Thomas and the experience that we're having that. But
this is all about your palette. It's way up what
you want to know.

Speaker 2 (26:32):
My name way up with Angela.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Yo's way up at Angela. Yeah, I'm here. We're Mano
and Jazz mc braham. Yes, And we just had a
little breakfast, a little food out here in the US
Virgin Islands. We're in Saint Thomas. It's festival season. Mano.
You've been talking about these Johnny cake and there was
a Johnny cake competition last night at the village.

Speaker 3 (26:53):
Yeah, I think both number twenty eight one. I thought
it was twenty eight two. Okay, twenty two okay, yeah, right, okay.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
What's been your favorite food? Jazz?

Speaker 3 (27:03):
My favorite food is the chicken soup.

Speaker 7 (27:06):
Okay, I have I have it wherever I go, and
it's just, you know, it sounds so boring, but it's
so flavorable.

Speaker 1 (27:12):
You know. I love a little jerk chicken. So that's
what I've been eating while I'm out here. But also
definitely the patty. I just had some amazing patties. But
one thing you gotta do when you come here, it's
the same time it's it's throw you a diet out
the window for a moment. Lots of carbs.

Speaker 4 (27:25):
You got to forget about it because I was out
here really on.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
A diet, and you've been searching for Johnny Kicks everywhere,
and now I feel like people keep coming up and bringing.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
You that I had last year.

Speaker 5 (27:34):
With the.

Speaker 4 (27:37):
Cash. What is it? It's just like a dough. It's
ready dough.

Speaker 3 (27:42):
It looks like coco bread to me, kind of remix.

Speaker 1 (27:44):
As sweet, like festival kind of festival bread. All right, well, listen,
we have a lot more going down. We got more
talk about Carnival, and we got some carnival experts who
are going to join us. They're performing out here. And
let me tell y'all something. If you have never been
the same time as Carnival. If you've never been to
the US Virgin Islands, this is your sign right now

(28:07):
that you need to make it happen. Get your group together.
It's way up. It's gonna turn me up. Here we
go up again.

Speaker 2 (28:13):
This is way up with Angela.

Speaker 1 (28:16):
Oh yes, way up with Angela.

Speaker 4 (28:18):
Yay, Oh my gosh.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
Y'all be an independent like Niels and the v Jasmine
brand is here, is here. And when I tell you
we are having a time, y'all, keep walking around, look
at other things.

Speaker 3 (28:30):
Look at you Angela.

Speaker 1 (28:32):
Do you feel the wind and things keep blowing away?
But that is all part of being on the islands
and doing a live show from here. And I would
not trade this today for anything, because the weather is beautiful.
I'm hot, I'm feeling good. I'm ready for Carnival tomorrow.
And speaking of Carnival, Adam always gonna be joining us shortly.
And show is Shaw HP piece actually performing in the
village tonight. We've been telling you all about the village

(28:53):
out here, free performances. You don't need a passport. You
not to come to the US Virgin Islands to come
the same time, and you don't got to worry about
going through customs when you land, so you know, got
to run off the plane and try to cut everybody off.
Oh that's me.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
You clearly have experience there, yes, because you don't.

Speaker 1 (29:10):
Want to wait on that line. But you don't have
to worry about that. We're not at the same time
as when you come to Carnival. But like I said,
we got Adam O and shaw HP joining us. Soca
music to the world is way up.

Speaker 2 (29:21):
You want to know my name way up with.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
What's up? Its way up at Angela Yee And this
is very authentic. You hear the wind blowing, we hear
birds chirping, we hear planes taking off behind us. We
are waterfront with Adam Oh and shaw HP.

Speaker 4 (29:35):
Thank you for being here.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Adam Oh. I want to say, you know what I
want to ask you because i've you know, I've seen
you the past couple of years. What is the song
that really puts you on the map. That's my big yeah,
Carnival King also, but what is the pressure to have
a hit at this time?

Speaker 12 (29:56):
It's really consistency, I think, especially here in the Islands.
Once you're an audist that plays regularly, the people gravity
to your song. Your energy, your style and everything. So
this year my big song is Carled Pamela direct. Now
how they place in our friends?

Speaker 1 (30:12):
Oh yeah, listen, And that's what it takes because this
is the time. I know you have to also plan ahead,
but like what I'm putting out in time for this
this to happen.

Speaker 11 (30:21):
But like Marshall said best and his latest hit, where
you say you're only as good as your last performance.

Speaker 8 (30:25):
So in the sense of the pressure, soca is a
genre where it's like a very fast turn around, you know.

Speaker 11 (30:31):
What I'm saying.

Speaker 8 (30:31):
Like the people in Trinidad right now who have hits,
they're in the studio right now curating the hits for
literally less than a year. So it's the same thing
for all the other islands throughout the Caribbean, because everybody
does that thing once a year.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
Do you do you remember your first carnival performance, what
that was like and when I were.

Speaker 11 (30:48):
Very long term years old.

Speaker 12 (30:52):
Yeah, oh wow, Yeah, my first road march I wanted
at the age of fourteen.

Speaker 1 (30:58):
That is insane. Do you feel animal you feel the
growth of socca? I feel like it's in a great
like time right now. It does feel like soca.

Speaker 8 (31:05):
To the world, because I feel like Soca is in
a place where it's like there's no more of the mafia,
you know, the gatekeepers and all these mythical things that
people say, because social media just has changed the entire
game to where the people now are the ones that
dictate how the music is consumed. So for us, it's
like it's a little bit more fun to where it's
like you don't have to be so structured and so

(31:26):
you know what I mean, because I feel like music
is a universal language. So now that you take that
middle man out of it and the consumers now dictating
the product, we get a better feel.

Speaker 1 (31:35):
I right now have a question then on that note,
how do you feel about people not from the Islands
doing Socca music? I'm with it, there's no gatekeepers? Yeah, okay,
of course.

Speaker 4 (31:46):
Yeah yeah why not?

Speaker 11 (31:49):
I mean if Drake was have been happy, you know
what I'm saying, Yeah, that changed my life.

Speaker 8 (31:56):
Behind us, that's a line.

Speaker 4 (31:59):
For you know when you're ready for you.

Speaker 1 (32:01):
We got a lot of samples, but listen, I want
to tell you I appreciate you. And last thing I
want to ask you what are some linkups that have
happened here with people not from the Islands with other
artists that are coming in at a time like this
that you're like, let's get in the studio, let's do
some music, because I have to think it's a good
time to get some work done too.

Speaker 12 (32:18):
For sure, for me, it's kind of tough because so
far played every day sometime twice a day, so for me,
a wrong this time and sleep a lot because I
to know what's about losing my voice, So anybody knows
me most of the time, I whispering and I'm just
gonna be talking and whispering. Yeah, my voice probably, Like

(32:39):
right after I cand of I would be the best boat.

Speaker 4 (32:41):
Even right after this, I go to Saint Martin for
their Cannibal.

Speaker 1 (32:45):
Okay, so.

Speaker 4 (32:47):
Whatever to me.

Speaker 11 (32:48):
I just saw our money at the hotel.

Speaker 8 (32:50):
Oh yeah, and he did an amazinglast Yeah, So I
went and I spoke with him for a little bit.
We didn't talk about studio because I'm the type of
artist I don't right. Yeah, I feel like like we're
getting bombarded by so much sometimes, especially if you have breakfast,
you know what I mean.

Speaker 11 (33:05):
The last thing I want to hear about this, oh,
let's go do a song.

Speaker 8 (33:09):
So I just I link up with him when I
flew in about three days ago.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
Well, listen, I appreciate you. I'm gonna let you wresh
your voice, and I definitely see you tomorrow. All right,
thank you. It's the way up.

Speaker 5 (33:20):
Take up the phone gets your voice heard with the word,
he's the last word on Way Up with Angela.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
Ye, what's up? His way up with Angela? Yee. I'm
here with Jasmine Brandon Maino. Yes, yes, is it Friday.
Normally we would have tell us a secret today, but.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
You know what, what that's a secret.

Speaker 1 (33:38):
I'm gonna tell me no secrets.

Speaker 2 (33:41):
Leave.

Speaker 7 (33:42):
I was just saying, Mayo has a nice, lit, comfortable, safe,
but lit life like that.

Speaker 1 (33:50):
They say, it's just it's.

Speaker 4 (33:54):
Yeah, I like that.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
But what I do like is being in Saint Thomas
and having Meno here because this is a very important
in place here, and I feel like we were coming
here like the you came last year and.

Speaker 4 (34:05):
Found my uncle, You found your uncle, saw my cousin
the other day, his daughter.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
Yeah, well we had Jube already, but you know, we
got to get ready for carnivals as well. Anybody who's
out here, if you're listening, because you know we aren't
row FM one on one point three. If you are
listening out here, come and meet us, and come stay.
What's up to us. We're going to be right outside
with y'all enjoying ourselves. And you know, I'm scared.

Speaker 3 (34:32):
I'm scared.

Speaker 1 (34:33):
It's not raining this year. Last year it was the
last year was a month soon.

Speaker 7 (34:37):
Yes, we still had a good time, though we did.
Somebody we did bullied that.

Speaker 4 (34:42):
No, don't go.

Speaker 6 (34:42):
Don't say that. That person gave me an umbrella. He
wanted us to have it.

Speaker 4 (34:46):
You bullied that.

Speaker 2 (34:47):
No.

Speaker 1 (34:48):
But yes, tomorrow is Carnival and the weather is looking amazing.
There's been like a little couple of light light light
like super light light showers.

Speaker 3 (34:56):
I don't mind some tomorrow, just a few tomorrow. It
gives you a little cool.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
We got soaked at Juvet, but it was my heart.

Speaker 4 (35:03):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
But yeah, we are having so much fun and I
want to thank everybody. Do you guys have just some
last words that you want to say since we're out
here and we can't take these calls live because we're
gonna still be here on Monday, but we want to
make sure you have a safe week You start that
they have.

Speaker 6 (35:18):
A great weekend. You know, stay blessed, stay safe, you know,
and get home.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
Okay, get home. It's important. What about you, Jess.

Speaker 3 (35:27):
I just want to say, be calm, but enjoy yourself
and be present.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
Okay. Yeah, and I want to say, where's the kid?
You're watching us, all right, and you're out here, and
maybe you're looking at what Mano's doing. Don't do what Mano.

Speaker 3 (35:44):
Does, the opposite.

Speaker 4 (35:45):
Just enjoy the show. Okay.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
It's way up with the Angela. Enjoy this show. Carnival
is tomorrow, so make sure you follow us because we're
going to be posting. If you see us, come up,
take a picture with us, post us, and we'll be
back here on Sunday, because why not.

Speaker 4 (36:01):
