Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome back to by order of the Faithful Survivor edition.
Well's Adams here alongside do Laura's Catana, Dolores, How you
doing better than I deserve?
Speaker 2 (00:10):
That's for sure?
Speaker 3 (00:11):
You think I don't know?
Speaker 2 (00:12):
You're a nice guy, Madam.
Speaker 1 (00:14):
Having so much fun watching season fifty of Survivor? Are
you slowly leaning towards wanting to go on this show? Me?
Speaker 3 (00:25):
Delores Catania. Yeah, this would be so.
Speaker 4 (00:28):
Out of my league. I don't even know what to say.
But hey, I thought Traders was out of my league too.
Speaker 2 (00:33):
Yeah, and you won that thing and I won, right.
Speaker 4 (00:36):
I would do it as my challenge. This would be
my biggest challenge in life to go to go on.
If I was asked, I'd go and I'd give it
my best. But I mean, it's just not well.
Speaker 1 (00:47):
Listen on Traders, you were the champion. Speaking of champions,
we have one on the show with us today. Rachel
Lamont is winner of Survivor forty seven. She moved through
her season as a challenge threat, particularly when it came
to puzzles. She ended up four immunity challenges and tying
the record for the most wins by a female contestant.
Speaker 2 (01:04):
In a season.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Since then, she's co hosted on Fire with Jeff Probes
podcast for Survivor forty eight and design her own puzzle
game that's available for pre order now called Puzzle Hungry.
Am I saying that right, Rachel, you are thank you,
thank you so much for coming on the show. Episode
three of season fifty has been was very, very fun
(01:27):
one just overall arching thoughts as someone who has been
on the show and won it, what are your thoughts
so far through the season.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
Through episode three.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
I just love seeing kind of these newer players and
these very old school players kind of coming together and
watching what happens. And sometimes you get you know, like
the coach and the Azzie and you have just old
baggage just bubbling back.
Speaker 3 (01:52):
Up to the surface.
Speaker 5 (01:52):
And other times you get you know, Rizzo with three
fields and her you know, being like, God, help me.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
Here, and it's just it's so fun. I'm really really
enjoying it.
Speaker 5 (02:03):
And we got the return of the Survivor intro with
the theme song which they haven't shown this season yet,
which is always look, I hear that music and I
get a little teary every time. It's just it's sort
of this just embodies the feeling.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
It's the anthem. It's the anthem, and it you know,
not that long ago.
Speaker 5 (02:22):
I sat in my living room and I just imagine
myself being on there, and now it has happened, and
now I watch it and I'm like, oh my god,
this is a show that you know, I was able
to do too, and so seeing the credits is always
a bonus.
Speaker 1 (02:38):
You can't talk about episode three without talking about Christian, like,
he is very fun to watch. Rick and Christian arrived
back at camp after they've successfully planted their fake idol
at tribal and this is the greatest heist since Ocean's eleven.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Oh my god, it's like the Luftanza heist. I mean,
what's going on here?
Speaker 4 (02:58):
Rachel overreacting.
Speaker 3 (03:01):
It's a little over the top.
Speaker 5 (03:03):
I gotta say, it feels like a little feels a
little extra to me, But it's very very fun. I
think that watching Christian just like pass out in front
of everybody so dramatically.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
It was excellent acting.
Speaker 5 (03:18):
I think the confessionals about it are probably where it
like is a little over the line. For me, there's just, uh,
it feels so campy in a way that you know,
I don't love, but I think that they're that duo
is doing a lot of really fun stuff. I yeah,
planting the fake idol, I'm I gotta say, I'm a
(03:39):
little disappointed. That was in my list of things that
I really wanted to do going out, But I had
a real idol, so I could not fake a fake idol,
you know, I was. I didn't want to bring attention
and act like I had an idol when I actually
had one. So I kudos to them for pulling it off.
I think it is very fun, and I hope that
(03:59):
we get some payoff with it. I hope that they
can bluff at some point.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
I this has to happen.
Speaker 2 (04:05):
They just have to.
Speaker 4 (04:06):
Something's gonna come out of this. This just can't be
there and us get all excited.
Speaker 3 (04:10):
Very disappointed if it just nothing comes of it.
Speaker 4 (04:13):
Can I ask you, will somebody ever be able to
do this again once they do it, if they pull
it off.
Speaker 3 (04:18):
I don't think so.
Speaker 5 (04:20):
The only way is if the show actually embraces it
and then actually does it for real, and then you
just never know if it's real or fake.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Right.
Speaker 5 (04:27):
But I think that now that this cat's out of
the bag, it's a little Yeah, people are always going
to question it, and it always like a little sus right,
That's what I thought too.
Speaker 1 (04:37):
I did love Rick looking back dead into camera like
Jim and the Office, you know, like after it all
went down, looking straight down the barrel, being like, hey,
I did it, like we did it. I thought that
was very fun. But also it seems like it's some
side quest that no one needs, but is fun to watch.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
It is fun to watch. It's very fun to watch.
Speaker 5 (04:58):
I think it's pretty clear that in particular, like has
camera experience, right, He's just so, He's so on and
it is fun.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
It is fun.
Speaker 1 (05:14):
The next morning, the tribes receive tree mail and many
are anticipating a tribal swamp. Christian and Rick decide to
loop Seria and Emily in about the Boomerang idol they
sent to Aubrey, but they don't have time to tell
Emily later in the episode, is like really hurt by
(05:35):
this is Does that make a whole lot of sense?
Or are you making a mountain out of a mole hill?
Speaker 3 (05:41):
I can see it both ways.
Speaker 5 (05:43):
I think the problem is that they did filler in right,
so they do care. But I think it's always a fear,
especially when she's she's kind of in this trio with
these two guys. She now finds out that she's the
last to know, and that's a huge red flag. You know,
if the three of us are in an alliance and
all of a sudden Dolores comes in. It's like, Rachel
(06:04):
Wells and I were just talking and like this this
thing happened. It's like, why wasn't I the person that
did that with you, Doris? Why wasn't like why was
an hour thing? And we tell Wells and so I
think that it's it's tough, and that's such a high
anxiety moment. Already you're about to switch tribes, you have
no idea what your fate's going to be, and then
to get kind of this like slap in the face
(06:25):
that maybe the alliance that you felt secure in when
you're already feeling very insecure again wasn't what it was.
I see kind of why she spiraled. She went very
like kind of off the deep end in one in
one direction and just spilled so much tea to new
people that she doesn't know if she can trust. But
(06:45):
I mean, it's good entertaining and I'm excited to see
kind of what it.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
Happens when you're upset.
Speaker 4 (06:50):
Though, When you're upset and when you let emotions get
into this game, that's when you're going to lose. And
that was the conversation in the beginning when people were crying.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
He's you know, why are we crying?
Speaker 4 (07:01):
After people are getting like we knew them three minutes,
they were here for two minutes. You can't do this
in this game. You have to be strong and keep
emotions out of it, like life.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
The fans vote for a tribal swap. This is when
Christian has to use the moment to tell Emily about
the idolant. She's not happy about it, so the players
reveal their buffs and join their new tribe members. This
is something that would annoy me. I got comfortable with
the situation that I was in. I was comfortable with
where I was probably sleeping.
Speaker 2 (07:32):
I knew surrounding. You don't like change. I hate change.
Speaker 4 (07:36):
Yes, we know, we can tell just by this, we
already know.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Yeah, and this is happening so early.
Speaker 2 (07:44):
What are your thoughts about tribal swap?
Speaker 3 (07:47):
Yeah, I think that it's only good if you're in
a bad spot. Tribeesofts are only.
Speaker 5 (07:53):
Good if your position is already sort of a shaky one.
I think that swapping when you're kind of in the
middle or anywhere or the top is not ideal because
undoubtedly the dynamics are going to shift, You're going to
have to make new relationships, You're gonna have to trust
new people, probably divulge new information, and that's scary, like
in a game where you can't you can't trust anyone,
(08:15):
you can't actually trust anyone, and you never know who
people are actually aligned with.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
What their motives are.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
So I think for some of these people, like Angelina,
for example, who was really on the outs with her tribe,
getting a tribe swap, especially for her with you know,
two people from her original season, is a huge blessing,
while for other people, you know, Genevieve is now on
a tribe where I believe the only person from her
(08:42):
original tribe maybe two people, is like the person she's
beefing with the most, Like, that's not ideal. You know,
she was in a power position and now she's who
knows where she kind of stands.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
So it's just it's it really depends on who you
are and your position in the game. But they're scary.
They're very, very scary as a.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Player, Are you expecting this is gonna happen?
Speaker 1 (09:03):
Like it seemed like everyone kind of knew this was coming,
and so then maybe you prepare yourself for something like
this and keep your walls up because you know that
this might happen.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
Is that true?
Speaker 3 (09:14):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (09:15):
But also you can't keep your walls up because if
you keep your walls up, now you're not going to
bomb with these new people. You might be putting yourself
in a bad position in this new tribe. So it's
it's sort of forced. You're just forced to adapt. You're
forced to make new friends and maybe you, you know,
end up lucky and you have a bunch of people
from your original tribe, but more than likely most of
(09:36):
these people did not, And now you have to kind
of like extend new branches and hope that nobody's out
to just like got you for.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
No reason, Like the Vanti tribes, Like there's like this
big divide, right like my Christian Angela all played David
versus Galia together, Emily tells Q and Azzy about the
idol Christian gave Dauby, So there's like this big divide.
Do you think that the game makers, like this is
like hunger games. Do you think that the game makers,
(10:05):
because on the show that I'm on, we definitely think
about this. U like, Ooh, it would be really fun
if we can get so and so and so and
so on the same tribe because we know drama will
happen ensue and they'll be you know, dramatics there. Do
you think that that's what happens or is it we
needed to shake it up or numbers didn't work out?
Speaker 3 (10:23):
You know, I think that, Uh, like.
Speaker 5 (10:26):
The original tribes, I think they probably I mean, they
put them together, so they definitely were hoping for specific relationships,
specific fireworks and whatever.
Speaker 3 (10:35):
But you watch them all pick out these buffs.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
It's it is random, and they might I don't know,
maybe they stagger them in a way.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
That they think.
Speaker 5 (10:42):
But at the end of the day, you're watching these
people and they're picking whatever one they want off of
which of the two trays.
Speaker 3 (10:48):
So I think that I'm sure they have people that
they want to be together.
Speaker 5 (10:53):
But I also feel like it's kind of luck at
least in this format, Like there's other there's better try
swaps where people speculated that they could have been like
more rigged because it's like a specific order that they're
handling them out or something. But it was pretty clear
in this in this scene that people were picking their
own fate.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
So could edit it in a way of which it's
like the one that song that you know, you stop,
you shut down, you say, okay, hold on, we got
to do this, and then put another buff on and then.
Speaker 5 (11:23):
You know, I think that enough players would complain about
that that you would hear about it, you know what
I mean, Because I mean truly, because it really it
determined so much of what happens next that if someone
felt very screwed by that, I can't imagine that they
wouldn't say something.
Speaker 3 (11:37):
And that's one of the things.
Speaker 5 (11:38):
After fifty seasons, you don't hear about people yelling rigged.
And there's you know, seventeen to nineteen losers on every season.
One of them would scream like foul play if there
was sore loser.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
Yeah, but ye, look, do they give you an extensive
psychological background before you come on?
Speaker 3 (11:58):
Yes, yes we did. It was like over a thousand questions. Yeah,
it's a long, long test.
Speaker 4 (12:04):
I wonder if I wonder if the way they look
at that is how they kind of put people together.
Speaker 5 (12:10):
Oh I bet they are, Yeah, because you talk to
like a psychiatrist and they kind of give you your
higher high level profile of like who you are, which
is very interesting. They definitely are taking people and saying, oh,
this person like hates this type of person. I'm sure
that they would make good good have a lot of
you know, I gotta imagine.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
Sure, like yeah, you type A and type B people
and put them together and yet got it.
Speaker 5 (12:36):
Yeah, well you have like Q, you know, talking to
about like everyone in this tribe, like these people are
lazy and that person does nothing and like no, no,
you know, some people just are very structured and other
people are very loose. And it's fun to watch what
happens when they're forced to live together and starve together.
Speaker 4 (12:53):
It's like just like a like a human science project
on this island.
Speaker 3 (12:57):
As far as I'm concerned.
Speaker 5 (12:59):
Yeah, I mean I would be curious what you think, well,
compared to kind of a more controlled environment where people
are eating and you know, their basic needs are being
taken care of in a way that's not happening on Survivor,
do you.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
See do you still feel like it's really parallel.
Speaker 5 (13:15):
You said earlier that you think it's all the same
kind of when it comes down to it.
Speaker 2 (13:20):
Yes, it's it's the same story being pulled, but like.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
The the end game is different, right, Like so the
prize for you guys is lasting to the end, which
is the same prize for my show. Right, Like, you're
just trying to get to the end to get engaged potentially,
and then you know you have like a monetary situation
where you get money at the end if you make
it to the.
Speaker 3 (13:45):
End, a lot of money.
Speaker 1 (13:46):
Our show changed this last season to there being money
at the end.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
So yeah, it's the it's we're all there's an incentive, yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:56):
I mean, and Traders is the same way. You're just
trying to last as long as you and do whatever
you possibly can do to get there. And that's why
on Paradise it's we have this you know, like overused
trope of like this like trite thing of you know,
you're not here for the right reasons. That's what people
say when they realize that you're still here and you're
(14:18):
doing it in a way that like doesn't seem fair, right.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Okay, what is fair here exactly?
Speaker 2 (14:25):
With your guys at show. It doesn't really matter.
Speaker 1 (14:26):
You can be hiding freaking idols at Tribal you know,
it doesn't there are there are no rule.
Speaker 5 (14:33):
For Traders and uh for Paradise, Like the longer people last,
do they get more money?
Speaker 3 (14:39):
Okay?
Speaker 5 (14:40):
Yeah, because it's the same thing on Survivor where there's
certain people where I've heard in past.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
Seasons I didn't have this personal experience.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
But they're like, well, this person was like, well, I
could take a swing, but I'll make more money if
I just ride this out.
Speaker 3 (14:53):
I know I can't win.
Speaker 5 (14:54):
So you know, some people just become kind of a
movable objects and you have to play around them because
they're like, well, I'll make more money if I last.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Like, I'm not gonna win, but I'll just do that.
Speaker 5 (15:03):
Yeah, but if I take this swing, I'll probably get
taken out next if I fail.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
So why not just you know, run it a ticket?
Speaker 5 (15:09):
Yeah, So I'm curious how that works on other shows.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
Yeah, Well, on Traders, after a certain amount of episodes
and the people that get thrown out on that one,
like that right before you make the little extra bonus.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Very mad I got paid this. I was only on
two episodes of that show. And I got paid the
same amount of money as people who made like episode
six or something, and then it starts to.
Speaker 3 (15:32):
Do it's right there, yeah wow, yeah, yeah, Okay. Interesting?
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Does everyone get paid the same on Survivor or like
if you're Mike White, let's say, or Colby or Coach
and you like kind of are known.
Speaker 2 (15:44):
Are at the.
Speaker 4 (15:45):
Rizzo is getting paid the same as Mike?
Speaker 2 (15:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (15:49):
That I do not know. I genuinely don't know.
Speaker 5 (15:52):
On a newbie season, it is like every place you
make you get a little bit more money. So and
there's a jump at like the merge and a jump
at the final four.
Speaker 3 (16:01):
I think. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
Back at Collo, Genevieve is telling everyone that she doesn't
trust Aubrey. Tiffany relates us back to Aubrey and they
decide to work together. What are your thoughts on gameplay?
Like this is this dangerous or it's a necessary need?
Speaker 5 (16:27):
I think it can be dangerous, But I think in
this case, Genevieve is coming from a place where her
and Aubrey were already in open conflict on their starting tribe,
and Aubrey had already told everybody that she felt that
Genevieve was dangerous and I think when you get swapped
(16:48):
onto a new tribe with new people, the first person
to deliver the news is going to be more believable
than the second person. That sounds like they're defending right,
And so I think that it made sense. And I
mean Colby said it immediately. He said, she's going to
be the same problem here that she was there, like,
we need to get ahead of it. And I think
that while it feels maybe like it's a little bit
(17:08):
of an overplay, I don't agree because I think that
if Aubrey had been the first person to go around
and say to everybody, I don't trust jen Avieve, they're
going to buy into that more.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
Right. So she beat her to it. I think she
beat her to it.
Speaker 5 (17:21):
I generally think that, and you know, Genevieve is a
very good friend of mine, So I'm not going to
act like I'm not biased here, But I do believe
that that was the right move for the situation, because
if you know somebody, it's not like they were unsure
about their place with each other. If you know somebody's
out to get you, you cannot let that like be.
(17:41):
You cannot just like let that lie. You have to
get ahead of it.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
I think speaking of getting ahead of things, you know,
Coach has this conversation with Chrissy about like chutting the
hell up, and he gets really upset by this. It's
like this she spirals out it was coaching the wrong
or or do you think he's trying to help or
did she over.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
Like freak out? Like what are your thoughts on that
little weird thing?
Speaker 5 (18:08):
Yeah, I think that I don't think Coach was in
the wrong here. I think that if he did anything wrong,
it was probably not making her aware of that sooner.
And I think that one of the things Survivor does
is it shows you things about yourself that you don't
necessarily know, and I think learning those things.
Speaker 3 (18:26):
On TV is very difficult. And so I think for.
Speaker 5 (18:29):
Chrissy, I know, in her original season there were people
that like, did not like her, did not like her personality,
and I think this was probably a little that baggage
coming back into this new season.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
And also I think it was it seemed like she
was not.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
Aware that she was rubbing people the wrong way, and
so to find out after you know, over a week
of living with people thinking everything is going fine and
then being told that you were annoying everybody, Like no
one wants to hear that. Everyone's going to have a
hard time like absorbing that information. But I think Christy
is a very very resilient player, and I think she's
one of the people that is also tied the immunity record,
(19:05):
so uh yeah, yeah, so she won four menis on
her first season, and so I I do think that
she will take this information, she will harness it, and
she will change her behavior, she will adapt to it,
so that I think that this is good.
Speaker 3 (19:21):
And I just, you know, I feel for her because.
Speaker 5 (19:24):
It's just that's not it's just not an easy thing
to hear from somebody, like of all the things, not
like you're not working hard enough around camp, it's like
your personality is grading on people.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
Like that's tough because you.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
Really change your personality, Rachel, though, that's a part of you.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
You're right, you're not around, and it's so difficult because
you're already depleted. You're already probably not you're not one
hundred percent of your personality in day to day life
when you're out there because you're already so you know,
kind of down and out. Honestly, the hair situation worse
it really gets really nice, like the saltwater. It just
(20:01):
kind of really people.
Speaker 5 (20:03):
The number of people that complimented my hair out there, I
was like, I wish I could get my hair to
look like that. Sometimes not always, not always, but there's
some shots where I'm like, it's really good.
Speaker 3 (20:14):
All right, it's looking better to me.
Speaker 2 (20:16):
Now, my hair looks good. I haven't eaten in three weeks.
Speaker 5 (20:19):
Yeah, your teeth get really white because you don't eat
anything that stains them. People are always like convinced that
we have like teeth whitener out there, or like hair
brushes and shit.
Speaker 3 (20:27):
I'm like, no, we have nothing, but.
Speaker 5 (20:29):
You just you just kind of pick through your hair
all day because you have nothing to do, and then
you're only eating coconut, which is white, so it your
teeth are main white.
Speaker 3 (20:37):
How much weight did you lose? I have to know,
I'm sorry, more than fifteen pounds?
Speaker 2 (20:42):
WHOA, yeah, I have last episode, you gained ten, I
gain ten.
Speaker 5 (20:47):
So I'm about one hundred twenty five. Normally I was
one hundred and thirty five going into the game, and
I was like one hundred and twenty when I came out,
but I think it was more than that we ate
a lot.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
On that last day.
Speaker 5 (20:57):
We at least took a day twenty six breakfast. There
was pizza at the after I still weighed even though
I kept eating, Like four days later, I still weighed
one hundred twenty so I'm pretty sure I was even
more than that.
Speaker 2 (21:06):
It just is.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
Very Yeah, yeah, it was.
Speaker 2 (21:11):
Imagine stuff after not eating any like, I would get sick.
Did you did your pants?
Speaker 5 (21:17):
Like? Yes, okay, so am I but I the the
the night the game ended, I ate a ton that
day and I woke up in the middle of the
night that night.
Speaker 3 (21:28):
Oh, I ran to the bathroom. Yeah, it was. It's tough.
Speaker 5 (21:31):
It's really tough on your body because you're just you're, yeah,
gorging yourself.
Speaker 3 (21:35):
Of course you are.
Speaker 5 (21:36):
You're starving, so the second you get food, you just
eat everything and your body's like, I don't We were
getting like one hundred and fifty calories a day, Like,
I don't know what we're doing here.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
It's crazy. Yeah, oh my.
Speaker 2 (21:48):
God, Well, I mean, let's stop the GLP one, let's
just send people.
Speaker 3 (21:56):
I totally lost the plot of where we were on
the that's my.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
I got back at Cela Tribe. Riz God is trying
to figure out who his alliance should be. He approaches Charlie,
but Charlie is pretty wary about him. Rizzo says his
best friend from season forty nine was Sophie, but he
voted for Savannah to win. That hits Charlie right where
it hurts, considering his number one ally cost him the win.
(22:24):
Is the bridge burned between Charlie and Rizzo here? Or
can we mend fences?
Speaker 5 (22:31):
You think it's so hard to say because I think
on the one hand, Charlie is aware of the fact
that it's his own baggage that is getting in the way.
Here is the mental block is the fact that this
guy did something that like he is having trauma flashbacks
about for himself. On the other hand, Rizzol came to
him with good information. He told him about the Billie
(22:53):
Eilish boomerang Idol. He told him all of this stuff
and is trying to build a bond with him. And
it's not really in your best interest to uh shirk
anyone that wants to be an ally with you on Survivor,
And so I think that Charlie's a smart enough player
to not let Rizzo know that this really bothers him,
(23:15):
and even if he's out to get him, keep him,
you know, enemies.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Closer type situation because he's giving him good information.
Speaker 5 (23:25):
Like that's not someone you want to shut out just
because you have a problem with the way they played
the last time they played. The hilarious part about that
is I'm pretty sure, like as far as my understanding
of the dynamics, like Rizzo's lying. You know, Savannah was
his number one on that season and he did vote
for her. So it's sort of funny that in his
attempt to separate himself from Savannah that he's like actively
(23:47):
making an enemy and Charlie.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
So this reward challenge is pretty fun. The blind leading
the blind. You know, you've got a caller leading a
team of blindfolded people to get various rings through this
verbal command. It's got to be so frustrating because you
have three people yelling out different commands, and you have
(24:11):
each group you yelling back.
Speaker 2 (24:13):
And like, way, where shoud we go? And all this stuff?
But I did.
Speaker 1 (24:18):
Obviously you are known for this. Is this something that
you guys look forward to to go do?
Speaker 2 (24:26):
Or is it like, oh, gotta go a blindfold challenge?
It's like any challenge in general.
Speaker 5 (24:31):
Oh So the thing that surprised me the most about
challenges on Survivors when I'm a big fan of the show,
and I would you know, I've seen all the seasons,
I've never really paid attention to the challenges, and so
going out there and being a challenge beast and then
also having so much fun doing these challenges, It's really
changed the way that I watched the show because now
(24:52):
I pay a lot closer attention.
Speaker 3 (24:54):
And I too, I looked forward to it every time.
It was this kind of you walked.
Speaker 5 (25:00):
In and you're like, oh my god, I have to
do what I'm so tired, and then the second Jeff
says go, You're just like, let's walking guy out like
a drenaline the best drug.
Speaker 3 (25:09):
And so I.
Speaker 5 (25:11):
Really enjoyed the challenges. I think that definitely varies player
to player. But I have never ever wanted to do
a blindfold challenge. I don't trust anybody with my body
the way that you have to trust someone wearing a
blindfold on Survivor, Like, absolutely not. I would advocate to
be the caller if I ever had to do a
(25:31):
challenge like this.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
So that's something you wouldn't do and what did you love?
What was your love the thing you loved the most?
Speaker 5 (25:38):
Well, I mean the puzzles, right, because I just felt
like I just came in with a confidence about it.
But honestly a lot of my favorite ones were the
ones that I had watched on TV and said, I
wonder if I can do that, and then would go
and get to compete and actually try. And my favorite
thing about Survivor is that, you know, I'm very competitive
(26:01):
and I love to win, but sometimes when you're at
home and you're playing games with your friends or something,
you don't want to like be like, oh my god,
I want to win all the time. It's like a
little bit too intense, and you.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Let people win.
Speaker 3 (26:11):
Rachel, No, I'm just saying that, like sometimes I maybe
don't try as I possibly would if I could, you know,
like you don't want to bring an energy the other
pig gott matching.
Speaker 5 (26:22):
I love to win, but I think, yeah, on Survivor,
everyone is there to play. Everyone is going all out.
They're trying their hardest, and so getting to kind of
just go as hard as you possibly can and see
how you stack up is just it's amazing. It's like
the most the biggest rush for the biggest rush.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
Yeah. Well, speaking of winners and losers, uh, Sila and
Colo are first and second. Vantu going to tribal I
think the main the biggest loser though, was Colby because
I'm pretty sure he's concussed, dude.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
For him to like just ball down and passed, they
kept he kept being in.
Speaker 3 (27:03):
The background of those shots, just like wobbling around. He looked.
Speaker 5 (27:07):
I really thought they were gonna call medical for him.
It was that was freaky.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
Uh. We get into the meat of the episode right here.
I feel like this is when it gets really really juicy.
So at vant To, everyone begins to strategize before tribal council.
And one thing that I've realized is that wherever you
think the vote's gonna go, just figure out the last
possible thing, because it's gonna switch over to that last
possible thing. Angelina and Mike are best friends. We see
(27:37):
Angelina in this cameo in White Lotus. Q tells Mike
to vote for him instead of Stephanie, which seems so stupid,
and Q also lies to about having an extra vote?
Speaker 2 (27:49):
Is Q a idiot?
Speaker 1 (27:51):
Like?
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Why?
Speaker 1 (27:52):
I feel like he he drove the nail into his
own coffin.
Speaker 5 (27:58):
It seemed like, Yeah, I do not think he was
an idiot. I think that he thrives on chaos, and
I think that in his original season his ability to
kind of play in a way that no one else
plays that is so unexpected, that makes no sense telling
people to vote for you.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
No one should ever do that on Survivor. But he
also did that on his own season, and they used
him as a smoke screen repeatedly, vote vote after vote
where it was like the votes tonight, Q, we're getting
cue tonight, and then they wouldvote someone else out.
Speaker 5 (28:31):
And so I think that he was trying to bring
that same strategy into this season and it just didn't
work for him.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
I don't think it helped. I mean he was was
he the only one from his original tribe on this
swap tribe? I don't like.
Speaker 5 (28:45):
Uh oh, it was him and Stephanie I think were
the only two people from his original tribes. So they
were already down in the numbers. They were very you know,
he didn't have a vote, and so I think that
he was coming from a pretty big, big disadvantage. But
this like bluffing an extra vote, selling Mike to vote
for him to try to protect his ally.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
I think that he.
Speaker 5 (29:05):
That's very cute, coded and I'm not surprised at all
that he tried.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
It, because he's just he plays.
Speaker 5 (29:11):
I play Settlers of Katan online with him a lot,
and it is strategy playing that games unlike anyone I've
ever played with, and yet he wins so much. And
I think that he has the ability to see things
in a very different way than everyone else, and it
makes him not only a compelling entertaining character, but it
(29:32):
makes him really hard to because you just don't You're like,
is this real? What do I believe from what you're saying?
And he kind of spins you around so much that
he can kind of guide you to do what you
he wants you to do because you just have no.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
Bearing of like where the ground is. And so I
do think manipulation, yes, and in a very disorienting way.
Speaker 5 (29:54):
And I think that it has worked for him in
the past. I mean he was I think he was
sixth place on his season, but it did not work
here unfortunately. I'm pretty sad. I feel like he's so.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
Fun to watch and I'm pretty bummed that we lost
him this early.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
He's unanimously voted out and he says something to Ozzie
at the end.
Speaker 2 (30:12):
He's like, did you do this?
Speaker 1 (30:13):
And Ozzie says it was like yeah, I think that's
what he says, or yeah, this was.
Speaker 2 (30:19):
Me, And I wanted to say, cute, this was you.
You told Mike White to vote for you, and everyone's like, well, let's.
Speaker 1 (30:27):
Just pile onto this thing, right like that. That's that
surprised me.
Speaker 2 (30:34):
That ending.
Speaker 3 (30:36):
Yeah, I mean, I think it's such a funny moment.
Speaker 5 (30:39):
Mike White, of all people to be able to stand
in that booth and say.
Speaker 3 (30:42):
Like, you told me to do it, so I'm going
to do it. What an epic way to go out.
Speaker 2 (30:48):
Honestly, I've noticed something.
Speaker 1 (30:51):
No one gets their full name except for Mike White,
you know, Mike or Mike w You know.
Speaker 5 (31:00):
It's some people have that you everyone has that that
person in their life where they they can't help but
say their first and last name together.
Speaker 4 (31:06):
That's me with everyone, right.
Speaker 2 (31:08):
Let me tell you why this is something that like
I notice right, so.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
Uh on The Bachelor or The Bachelor in Paradise, it's
Jesse Palmer, he's the host. It was Chris Harrison. He
was the host, and then it's just Wells. It's not
Wells Adams the bartender on the show. You know. Uh,
it's almost like they're lifting him up a little bit
higher than everybody else with this like white, you know.
Speaker 3 (31:31):
But it's also a nice name.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
Yeah, I guess he also, by the way, we made
fun of him for being transparent last episode.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Because he's white. Yeah, because he's so white.
Speaker 1 (31:40):
And we said, Mike White needs to be Mike Tann.
He is, all right, he's starting to look a little bit.
Speaker 3 (31:45):
You did get ten out there. He looks so good though,
but you're right, he needs a little bit. You want
to see better.
Speaker 4 (31:50):
We want to see you, you know, when you're you're exactly.
Speaker 2 (31:54):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I get some baby o on this guy.
Speaker 3 (31:57):
Yeah yeah. Put it in the medbox hack, come on production.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
That's the end of episode three. Just overarching thoughts from you, Rachel.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
You know, I'm I'm loving it.
Speaker 5 (32:10):
I think this was a big episode for Emily, a
big episode for Mike. Why again, we didn't even kind
of acknowledge that Mike really led this vote. You know,
it really felt like it was going to be Angelina
pretty much. Everyone was on board for that and he
was just able to really twist it around and say no, no, no, like,
let's tell everyone we're voting for Stephanie, but we're actually
(32:30):
voting for Q. And I think that his ability to
be very disarming and get his way without people really
clocking that he's kind of steering the ship is it's
it's fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
And yeah, okay, someone like if you're Angelina, right, and
it looked like it was it was going your way
and then obviously it's it switches and it goes to Q.
Are you if you're Angelina freaking out because you're like,
oh man, I'm definitely up next.
Speaker 2 (33:00):
I was supposed to be up if you hadn't told
people to vote for him.
Speaker 5 (33:04):
Yes, and no, I mean yes, because it's never good
to have had your name out there. But now her
side won this battle, right, and now her four like
and really five because Ozzie voted with them, they're vastly
outwait like Stephanie, who's basically just a sitting duck now.
So I think that as much as it can be freaky,
(33:26):
I think she got her reality check from Emily also
telling her in a similar way to coaching Chrissy, Emily telling.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
Her Actually, girl, you were going home.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
You were at the bottom.
Speaker 5 (33:34):
And she also had kind of a moment where she
realized her position and hopefully adapts and is in a
much better spot with this alliance of you know, three
from her original season plus Emily.
Speaker 1 (33:48):
Yeah, who are you not seeing on your TV screens
thus far?
Speaker 2 (33:53):
That You're surprised isn't getting more airtime?
Speaker 5 (33:56):
Yeah, I feel like we are not seeing very much Camille.
You know, she was the kind of leader of her
uh the Blindfold challenge, she was the caller, so it
was nice to see that there. But in general, we
haven't seen Kamala Harley at all.
Speaker 3 (34:09):
We've barely seen d Tiffany.
Speaker 5 (34:13):
She got a little bit today with the Aubrey alliance,
but other than that, she has been I forget that
she's on the season sometimes. And then I was excited
to see this Charlie Rizzo today because I feel like
we've had nothing from Charlie until this episode. But this
was a pretty big Charlie episode as well, and very funny,
very funny content.
Speaker 3 (34:32):
You know, Wells has a theory. Tell Rachel your theory?
Speaker 1 (34:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (34:37):
Please?
Speaker 1 (34:39):
Yeah, you know you can usually tell who wins a
season of anything or who gets to the end of
anything by how much how little screen time they get
in the beginning of the show, because obviously they want
to showcase the people that are going out earlier so
they can get their screen time. And then, like we
always make the joke, you know on Paradise if you
have a couple that, like you can tell is going
to get engaged at the end, and I'll be like,
(35:00):
you guys aren't gonna be on this show, just so
you know, because there's no drama, nothing's happening, and you're
gonna be here all the way to the end. And
so that's why I like to ask, who are you
surprised you're not seeing because I agree, like I haven't
seen a whole lot of d Like, like, to me,
Christian is not long for this earth. He's on my
TV screen so much, like.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
We see too much of him.
Speaker 2 (35:20):
He's gonna be.
Speaker 1 (35:21):
Going And I agree with you with the Camilla, I
was like, I didn't even know this person was on
the show, and that now I'm seeing her, I'm like, oh, yep,
she's gonna be around for a while. Like Rizzo's on
my screen too much. Rick is on my screen too much.
Mike White is on my screen too much, but that
might be an editing choice of we know that he
has such cachet in the world, yes, ye him on
(35:43):
And like, I don't see a lot of Stephanie, which
is someone who's been on a lot of seasons, a
big game player. I'm thinking that she's gonna last a
long time. Anyways, it's a theory that I like this theory.
Speaker 5 (35:55):
It's interesting and I'll be curious, like to see how
it shakes out. Because this is the biggest season Surrever's
ever had. Twenty four players. Twenty is the most you've
ever had prior to this, and so I think on
some level, there aren't more episodes, and so who do
they have to kind of they have to choose people
to kind of not show, right. I mean, it's probably
(36:16):
more of a producer question than a player question, But
I would guess that there are some people that probably
go kind of deep and we still never see them
because if their storyline is not really integral to what
happens in the end, it doesn't really matter, which sucks.
There's just not enough time to show twenty four different
players in an hour every week.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
Yeah, yeah, but there's always a million different storylines that
get left from the cutting room floor. I think we
got all a test to being like, I can't believe
they didn't put that in.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
It was so funny. It's because it was all the time.
What wasn't in there?
Speaker 1 (36:50):
Because we were telling this story and your story is
it happens down here, and so we don't.
Speaker 4 (36:56):
Care about disappointing sometimes and you do miss out on
a great player, you miss out on great scenes.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
Rachel, thank you so much for coming on By Order
