Speaker 1 (00:01):
Wind Down with Janet Kramer and I'm Heeart Radio podcast.
All right, KB, We've got some headlines this week. Juicy
headline Taylor Frankie Paul season of The Bachelorette said to
air on ABC next month. You called it, Kramer, I
mean you called it? Did I? I mean I you
(00:23):
did well? You did. You didn't say next month, but
you said you'd be shocked if they didn't air the season. Yeah,
was that your quote? Something like that, something like that.
I mean, I listen, I think it was the right
call to take it down. Agree. I think they did
the right thing there, And I think how Taylor has
gone through this, Like, listen, there's two ways to go
(00:45):
about it. You either when something is blown up in
the press, you either stay quiet to not add fuel
to the fire, or you just go, you know what,
this is it And I'm a mess and I am
this and I I actually have been obsessed with how
Taylor has handled it. So how does she? So I'm
not a in tune with them, maybe algorithm wise, I'm
(01:06):
not getting served as much follow her and I she
has been so wildly open about her depression, her sadness,
the mistakes and just really owning up to it, but
also just showing the hard times and as someone that
has been in you know, hard times, and I just
(01:29):
appreciate the fact that she's sharing that because people, yeah,
is honest, and whether some people can't relate to this exactly,
they can relate to maybe feeling depressed or being in
a toxic relationship and then coming out how awful it feels. Yeah,
can imagine you're going through all of that and the
cameras are on you exactly. Well, I think I don't
know if production's back, but I mean, like just in
(01:51):
general mom talking and sure, you know, like she's gone.
She's had a lot of her life on TV. Yeah,
but I yeah, totally. And I think though if she
would have stayed more, if she would have stayed more
quiet about her healing, I don't think. I think people
just would have moved on. Honestly, I do too from it,
And I don't them airing The Bachelorette now even more
(02:13):
people are invested, because even more people are rooting for
her to get on the to be another side as
a person, yeah, and to you know, to be you know,
to the light and everything else. And now I really
want to watch the show, So what's her okay? Where
is she at court wise, lawsuit wise, because there's a
couple of floating things. Last I knew, the last thing
(02:35):
that she was accused of got thrown out okay to
my knowledge, and then they're still in court custody. But
you're still trying to figure that piece out. Okay, And
here's the deal. I'll you know, I want to go
back to saying physical violence isn't okay right on either side.
I do think people have again, I just want to
(02:55):
ask for this. I think people have a really hard time.
Like I'm reading the comments right now in TMC because
TMZ is the one that broke the story saying that
it's going to be coming out and production people have
been chatting and someone one of the comments is, so
ABC thinks it's okay for this broad to throw a
chair and hit her own kid as long as they
have ratings. Got it? And like listen, I get the take.
And I just want to go back to the violent resistance,
(03:18):
where again, it's not okay on both sides right totally,
Like I am, physical violence is never okay. Mentally abusive,
I'll like nothing none of that is okay. Having said
that if you haven't been in a relationship that has
had violence that it has you know, that has had
the manipulation and the gas lighting, you go crazy, like
(03:41):
then there is that violent resistance piece where you are
fighting back for yourself, right and you've had enough And
I can't explain it to anybody else unless you've been
in that situation. Yep, you just I mean again, I
always say I never fought back to my first abuser
until well the very last second when he was trying
to kill me, that I was trying to like survival,
trying to survive, you know, in that moment he was
(04:03):
on top of me and I couldn't. But the you know,
my last abuser, like, yeah, I did have the violent
resistance because you just get so you want to fight back.
Of course you're sick and tired of just like being
hit mentally, verbally, physically, all of it. They're just like, ah,
well it's primal, okay, Yeah, I mean it's like you're
(04:24):
you truly are fighting for yourself. But people just see, oh,
she's abusive, but you do not know the years and
the like the lengths that they've gone to also make
you feel crazy. It isn't lost on me too that
it was recorded. So that's what's interesting, right, Like, obviously
we've pushed and pushed and pushed, and again I think
I've stayed pretty neutral, maybe even lean a little towards
(04:47):
anti Taylor on here. So this is me not defending
her at all. I am pretty objective when it comes
to them, but I I did objectively go. So we've
pushed the push and then we hit record, Like you're
at the point where you know she's going to rage
out and you happen to get video of it. You know,
until you've been in an abusive relationship, I really wish
(05:10):
people would not but would take a second to just
have a little empathy for the manipulation and how it
makes that person feel. But they don't know that because
they haven't been through it. So like, there is so
much more to it. It's not just like a, oh,
she hit him, she's abusive. That's not the full but
it's not okay. And I'm so glad that she's on
(05:30):
you know, she's doing therapy and emdr and all of
the things, which is all the things we wanted for her. Yes,
when all this news broke, Yes, I even said I
just want to take her out of all of this
and get her like a good bath and a good
deep breath and a good therapist. This is the only
way to stop this violent resistance. Because the thing is,
(05:50):
if she was just the next relationship, like, she'll still
have that fighter in her Like, for example, I know
me now, I still have that like I want to
fight for myself, right, So if I were to get
into relationship with a toxic person in front of me,
I'm gonna fight. I would probably fight back again, and
that's not healthy. So have to get healthy, choose healthier,
(06:12):
that's right. But like she's doing the work to do that.
And I think it's great if they eric because again
it's it's not about what this person said, Like, yeah,
they're gonna get insane ratings. I think so, Like, but
it all played. I think they all did their work
to get to the spot. Now, yeah, I wonder too
how much of that was fueled by the bachelorrette bachelorette.
(06:32):
That's what it is, right, because I'm sure on the
business side of me, I'm going this is a lot
of money, a lot of production, a lot of time
away from families. Like all of the people that go
into the filming of these things are all people that
are making their own sacrifices to do the work actual
like business. So I wonder how much of that was
fueled from like even this is just my industry brain,
(06:54):
like the pr piece of it going, we've got to
get you, well, we've got to get this. How we
don't want this to just be a giant tree, million
dollar project that just sits and doesn't go anywhere, Like
you're saying, like a little bit of push afore they
always going to air They just yeah, I don't know.
Well I don't think we'll ever know that, but you
never know, as Catherine would say, well we'll never know.
(07:18):
I feel like we do know who she ends up with,
though that's been kind of clear. Wait, who I mean,
do you want me to spoil it for you? I'm
never watching that. I shouldn't say that. I've never watched
the last person she was with. I don't want to.
But oh, the one that does look like him? I
got them confused. Yeah, I'm pretty sure. You know. What
(07:39):
i'd love to see is that the the show after that,
Like i'd love to see the working through it and
then if they because they'd be really cute they look
real cute together because I don't want to. I again,
I am the girl who likes the bow, who likes
the button, who likes the Happily ever After. It's our
nineties hopeless Roman. Yes, yep, where it's closure. Some might
(08:03):
call it all notting Hill, you know, but I don't
think we're going to get that. And that's what bums
me out to watch, because I think if there's an opportunity,
I hope they get together. I bet we will know
more than we want to know about that relationship too soon,
because people will be all in. I think they've filmed
and we know more than TBDM On to the next one.
(08:25):
French sportscaster apologizes for calling childbirth disgusting after saying World
Cup players shouldn't miss a game for his baby's birth. France.
Darn criticized a Belgian soccer player's decision to leave the
World Cup for the birth of his first son. She
said on air, you have to realize that it's truly
a privilege to participate in a World Cup. It's an
(08:47):
incredible joy. There are hundreds of footballers who would kill
to be in your shoes. It might have never it
might never happen again in your life. It's truly a
special moment, a childhood dream come true. You're living out
a childhood dream. Yet you're going to walk away from
it all to attend the birth of your child. A
disgusting moment, if you'll pardon the expression, where the dad
(09:07):
is completely useless. After serious public backlash, her news company
responded that they dissociate themselves from her remarks and that
they were far removed from the group's values. She later
apologized for remarks, understanding they may have shocked and wounded people.
Let me just say this, Alan was the most useful
person in that room with me when I gave birth
(09:28):
to Roman. I could not have done it without him.
I literally was screaming and waiting for him to come
in that C section room because I needed him so badly.
I think it's interesting because if you read her quote
back and you put it through the view of her
talking about being there for the child birth instead of
being there for the World Cup, it feels like it
(09:50):
settles better in my heart. So much of what she
said actually pertains to the birth of a child more
than it pertains to a World Cup. Once in a
life time, childhood dream, don't know, if you'll ever be
if you'll ever have another. All those things apply to
actual being there for the birth of a child more
so one thousand percent. It's just really and from what
(10:12):
I know my very vague experience of soccer is Belgium's
really good. So they'll probably be at a World Cup
again at you guys next time. So like, I don't know,
I just you know. It's interesting though, coming from an
industry that is pretty you know, like our litmus test
is pretty off for well, and this might trigger you
a bit too. It does because actually, yeah, Yeahry, No,
(10:32):
it's okay, No, it doesn't. Well, because Preston wasn't he
was there. He was there. I had the baby on
a Friday at two twenty two, which I love that time.
If you ever look it up, it's really special. And
so I had her at twenty two and by noon
the next day he was on a plane and he
was back out on the Cane Brown tour. Yes, so
I hold both pretty well because I think I was
(10:56):
in the industry for so long that I understand stand
the importance of getting back out there. I understood the
importance of the weight of us being out with Cain
and how important that was for our career. And so
the grace I gave was okay, like you should go back.
So I do understand the athletic piece of this, the
(11:19):
athleticism and the like once in a lifetime and blah
blah blah. I also just feel so deeply like the
kingdom work we're all doing here is the family building.
So I just there's not a time where if Preston
is even plain it's a sold out arena. He's going
to miss a childbirth. That's wild to me. I want
(11:40):
to buy this guy's jersey because I love that so
much that he chose to be there for his wife,
to be there for his new baby boy. Like, I
think it's so beautiful. And the fact that she said
that is it makes me sad that that's what she
puts the value over and it's I get the level though.
(12:00):
I mean the god I've seen, I mean we went
to freaking Miami and witnessed you know, these this is
they're a little life, you know what I mean? Seeing
these Scottish people. They haven't been in the World Cup,
and I don't want to miss somewhere between like thirty
and forty years or something crazy like that. So like
and that could be wrong, but I know it's been
a long time and like this is everything for them,
you know. So I can understand people that hold such
(12:22):
value to things like the Olympics and big stages like
this where you don't get that opportunity it's every four years.
It's you know, I get that, and you don't get
a child birth back. You don't and a child. I
think it's interesting though, because I do think there are
I mean, or it's gonna be taken away like that
and one injury or this. It's like but people, I mean,
(12:43):
it's the same, not the same, but like, just people's
priorities are different, right, Like some some moms have a
baby and they're like, great, child is here, nanny full time.
I'll be back on you know, everyone's perspective is different.
I just I think what we have here is maybe
like a diviner invention for clarifying someone's character. And so
(13:03):
I kind of appreciate there's a reason for everything. I
always think. So the reason in this is that we
got to know someone's heart, not the prettiest of hearts,
but calling it disgusting, I love that she at least apologized,
does she have a choice. Well, yeah, I mean that's
a pretty profound statement to me. And I will say
we say things on when you're recording, things that you
(13:25):
sometimes would love to take back because you're just saying
things that would she do this on a was this
written or is this this is an interview? Like a
post game? I believe it was like a like a
what's it called press conference? Press? Yeah, like that kind
of thing. But again, I just think it's one of
(13:45):
those things where you sometimes are freely talking and I
might not have chose your words correctly. You just fired out. Yeah.
I know I have fallen on that sword one too
many times. I might have even in this episode. Who knows,
But yeah, I do like the fact that she's like, yep,
that was wrong, and I hope she can experience a
(14:06):
beautiful child. Well, also, she's actually here because someone cared
enough to be there for childbirth, you know, Like again,
my dad wasn't at my birth, and you know, he
was at a band job and listen, they needed the money. Mostly.
That's that's where my mind. I've never actually asked him
like why he didn't choose maybe protecting yourself maybe, you know,
(14:30):
I know, it was like it was a wedding that
he was playing and maybe they needed the money. You know,
that's kind of where I always put it. Sure, but
and maybe that's why I wasn't there, you know, so,
but there's always but that's always been a little weird. Yeah, agreed. Yeah,
so I've thought about it. It happened so fast he
couldn't get to you. Yeah, right right. I don't know.
(14:53):
I mean, listen, everyone's got their own priorities, which I
really hated to ask my mom about that, because yeah,
I actually born at like three forty five, Like what
band job is in the afternoon? Maybe the story is
maybe I've lived with this childhood story that's actually maybe
he was there, but he told me that he wasn't
because he was singing a banded job like he's He's like, all,
my daughter was just born. I'm a singer lullaby. But
(15:14):
maybe I heard it differently. I don't know. Can we
get some clarification. This is a pretty monumental moment for
us to not have clarification. How my dad right now,
I'm like, were you? I know, everyone has different priorities.
It's okay, I just passing the judgment calling someone disgusting
feels a little yes, no, not he she wasn't calling
him disgusting process the moment, Yeah, which ballid it is?
(15:37):
I mean, you shot yourself. I do's not cute. Well
it's not cute, but it's like I'm getting speaking of
regretting things. We've said. Oh, we'll be posted for your
apology in the next podcast. Perfect, So it happens, it does.
I just disgusting was just a really strong word. That
(15:59):
the word make me feel like she was just very
fired up and in the moment. That's my whole point
in bringing that up. Note to media says Savannah Guthrie's
(16:20):
mom is dead. Nancy Guthrie was lasting in her home
in Tucson, Arizona, on January thirty first. A new development
from the case has been announced after reviewing the ransom
note sent to the local NBC news, basically saying that
they confirmed that the second note declared she had died
and they believe both notes to be credible. The whole
thing just makes me really sad, Like I just I
(16:42):
wish people I wish they could, if that's the truth,
like bring the body back, like let them have closure,
you know. I can't. I just can't imagine. I've always
felt this way about missing person cases, and you know,
because I think the heart needs hope to hang on to, right,
like it's biblical heart, you know, Hope deferred makes a
(17:03):
sick heart. But I just can't imagine not knowing because
you can't properly mourn. So that's it's just unfair. And
I also just always the question like, are they still
out there? Well, I see them, Yeah, it's are they suffering?
You know? That is really like I think that would
be the heart in it too. It's a little alarming
(17:25):
to me that the ransom notes keep going to TMZ. Yeah,
there's just something so off about that. To me, it's
so fame seeking. It's just a wild and that is
just how can we not trace it back? In this world,
we can literally do everything we can do more than
we shouldn't be able to do truth, and we can't
(17:45):
figure it out. I just hate it for them, and
I just want her to be okay for some reason.
I just I'm holding onto the hope with them too.
But it doesn't look great either because she also left
behind medicines. That was the thing right away that did
me that you know she she's older and she's eighty something,
so sad. Yeah, well you know what we need? Can
(18:09):
we start doing a headline of the week that's like
a really you know, do you ever follow? What was?
I think this? Candice Camembert. She does a thing where
it's like every uh don't know, maybe a month or whatever.
She'll post like an in feed of like really positive stories.
And then Bobby Buns does this, Oh does he tell
me something good? Oh? Okay? On his radio? But I
(18:33):
just love it because it's like something positive that I'm like, oh, really,
that's so great that I don't want to end on
the I know I don't either. I don't really know
where to go from it. Can we find a positive? Yeah?
One second? See one? I think I saw one recently.
I'm gonna say so, I'm gonna say, tell me a
positive news story this week? Here we go. Nope, nobody
(19:00):
wants anything. No, it's really hard to find a positive,
uh isn't. This is actually a really wild moment because
I'm racking my brain over here, because I mean, my
algorithm would be set to serve me something great if
there was something to be served, And you want to
(19:22):
know what just came up for me. I said, tell
me a positive news story this week, right, And I'm
like scrolling down. Prosecutors drop Harvey Weinstein's New York rape charge.
How is that a positive? What is happening? How is it?
Why is it so hard? Cramer? We're gonna have to
be really diligent. We can do this. There's others We're
(19:42):
gonna find it. Hannah's looking stories that nurture the heart.
You guys, why is this so? This is really sad? Well,
it's also constructed, right, Like we talk about the living
in fear feeling, so I feel like they're doing a
really good job of that. Yeah, I literally can't fine things,
but stay tuned, and we will make sure that we
will find we will end on a high. There has
(20:05):
to be something cream because usually headlines aren't good. And
that's what pisses me off about headlines. Why I don't
like to ever be in them. No one's ever gonna
say Jana Kramer and a husband, Alan Russell are so
happy together doing great like ever you know what I mean.
So it's like, we need some positive headlines. Stay tuned
for next week's We'll find you one. It might take
(20:26):
us six days to find one, but which is wild
and unfair. See you next week.
