Speaker 1 (00:18):
I do Part two. It's your celebrity mentor Kelly Bensimone.
I'm here with my producer who I love, Heather, and
we are gonna bring you up to date on the
latest news in the headlines this week, because you know what,
there is so much going on. Let's dive in high.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
Heather, Hi, there's a lot going on that we have
to cover. Let's jump in though to this first one
because I kind of didn't see this coming, and I
wonder if you did. It's jelly Roll went to the
hospital one week before Bunny Exo divorce news. So first
of all, this is like the top story everywhere right now,
(00:57):
these two divorcing. I think it for a lot of people.
It's kind of come out of nowhere. She recently, not
too long ago, released a book and was out doing
a press tour. And I don't think that anybody saw
this coming. But basically, to dive into this, it says
Jelly Roll is sharing a health update that briefly sidelined
(01:18):
him while on tour with post Malone. In a TikTok
video that he shared on June eleventh, the country star
revealed that he went to the hospital the night before
at novent health after battling a sinus infection during the tour.
He said, So, I went to the hospital last night
in Charlotte, North Carolina. Shout out to that whole hospital.
(01:40):
They literally got me on my feet for the show.
I was puffy faced, he said, adding that the doctors
gave me a bunch of steroids. He explained that the
health issue forced him to miss a portion of the
show for the first time since joining the Post Malone tour.
According to jelly Roll, post Malone checked in on him
after learning he wasn't feeling well. The next night. He
(02:03):
sent me a big flower bouquet, he says, and revealed
that the note from the musician said get well soon, MOFO.
Love you. The gesture left a lasting impression on jelly Roll,
and he said, I love Post. When I say on
stage every night that post Malone is the nicest human
in the world, I'm not making that up. He is
(02:25):
the most normal dude in the world. Like I love
you Post. Okay. So this update came days before the
news surface that Jelly Roll and his wife Bunny Exo,
are divorcing. The country star filed for divorce in Tennessee
on May eighteenth. According to the documents that were obtained
by people, the filing lists May ninth as the couple's
(02:49):
date of separation and cites irreconcilable differences as the grounds
for the divorce. After news of the filing became public,
Jelly Roll also removed Bunny's name from his Instagram bio.
The singers bio previously included music Man, a locking key emoji,
and Buddy's Instagram handle. It's now just simply music Man.
(03:11):
So what do you think about you know, first of
all the fact that these two are divorcing, and second
of all, I think this is kind of also just
a sign of like the stress that divorce can put
on your body. Like you know what I mean, Like,
do you remember when you were going through it? Were
you feeling sick all the time? Were you was it
(03:32):
hard to like keep your energy and your stamina up
because you had so much like additional pressure on your shoulders?
What was your experience?
Speaker 1 (03:40):
I mean, I wasn't feeling well last fall, and I
had to also go on steroids, and I just was
in like my whole mindset was just like fight or flight,
you know, if I was like in such fear mode,
of making sure that I was going to be healthy
and safe to care of myself, but also travel and
(04:00):
do the things that I also had to do for work,
because you can't just be like, Okay, I'm not going
to work. And so I actually feel really badly for
him that she's not there for him. I mean, there
must have been something else, because this is not like
people again, Like people don't just get divorced on a Tuesday.
There must have been some kind of build up. But
(04:22):
you know, the fact that he gets sick and that
he can't rely on his partner is really like, it's
not good. I've heard so many stories of people not
being able to rely on their partners. It's just it's
not a vibe. It's really bad.
Speaker 2 (04:39):
Yeah, I just want to address that. Some of the
latest news, Page six is reporting Bunny Exo's latest move
after Jelly real divorce raises eyebrows. This is so messy,
it says, Bunny Exo, confused fans with her latest social
media move, a month after her estranged husband filed for divorce.
(05:00):
She's the podcast host. Her podcast is called dumb Blonde,
and it says that she uploaded a TikTok video where
she sang along to Jelly Rolls No Limit Freestyle while
out to dinner with friends, and then wrote podcasts coming
hashtag Jelly and Bunny. She cryptically captioned the post hinting
(05:24):
that fans will finally know the truth about their split
if they tune in.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
So she's seating there's split well to sensationalize her podcast.
That is awful.
Speaker 2 (05:38):
You can have your opinions on that, but I will
say that as a musician, right, where did they draw
their inspiration from for songwriting? Usually from pain and things
that they go through, So there's I would say that
there's probably no way he's not at some point going
this is going to seep into what he does to
make an income. I kind of am like, if she's
(06:00):
got a podcast and she's now going to be a
single woman and she needs to capitalize and make some money,
do it. As long as she's speaking her truth right,
They're both going to have differing opinions. It's very rare,
right that we have a divorce couple that is on
the exact same page with what happened. They're probably gonna
have differing opinions, and probably it sounds like he's the
(06:22):
one who filed, so he was the instigator or the
initiator in this, and you know, maybe she's got a
lot to say about that.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
I just feel that, you know, putting it on social media,
I just feel like the world is changing where you know,
there aren't really any boundaries anymore. People can kind of
say what they want so that they're bringing attention to
their business. And I understand that that is part of
that of that strategy. It's just I don't I just
(06:52):
I just find it to be it's heartbreaking. I just
find to be heartbreaking.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Well, it looks like some people agree with you in
the comments. They're calling it messy, you know, and in
my comments, So.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
I just think it's I just think it's better to
have a statement and you know, stay with that statement
and things afterwards, like unfortunately had this my podcast is
coming out to talk about it. I love that, But
just to get divorced and be like, by the way,
stay tuned. I don't know, it's a little heartless.
Speaker 2 (07:21):
To each their own. That's your POV. Let's we'll have
to follow this story because clearly it's still developing. I
would love to, but let's move on to the next one,
because I actually couldn't believe when I put this headline in.
This is so bizarre, it says the pop star Catherine
Lanassa says ghost of ex husband Dennis Hopper haunted her.
(07:48):
Have you ever been haunted by an X? Have you
like Kelly? Have you ever been haunted by an ex?
Speaker 1 (07:54):
I mean, I've never been haunted by an ex. Ever,
I've probably haunted them. They're like not so.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
She recently told this story during an interview because she
was married to Dennis Hopper from nineteen eighty nine to
nineteen ninety two, and she says that he repeatedly appeared
to her after his twenty ten death. She said, I
do believe in ghosts. She told w magazine, the ghost
(08:23):
of Dennis Hopper would not leave me alone for a
really long time. He visited me first in ways that
were scary. He came one time looking like when he
was at the Academy Awards. He was in a wheelchair
and he fell down and it was super upsetting. The
actress went on to explain that though she and Hopper
(08:46):
had been divorced, she was the last wife that he'd
been with that he wasn't currently divorcing. That sounds complicated.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
Well, I actually know his last wife, his daughter. You
do many times.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Oh my goodness.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
He was lovely and his ex wife was amazing, and
his daughter is fantastic. She was the editor of L.
She was one of the editors of L. His daughter.
So I don't know this. I don't know this. The
second wife, I mean, she maybe was the longest standing wife,
but she wasn't the last wife. Victoria is the.
Speaker 2 (09:24):
Last wife, Okay, but she's claiming that he was in
the process of divorcing that wife. Is basically yeah, it
looks like him and Victoria were separated before his death,
and it says that Catherine, who did this interview, she's
claiming I was the last wife that he'd had, that
(09:46):
he wasn't in the process of divorcing. So he was
in the process of leaving his current wife when he passed,
is what she's saying.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
So she just got divorced from him, but his but
his his last wife, they were separating. So it's I'm
gonna usiz.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
I think she's just trying to explain why she was
feeling like maybe so connected because clearly they've been divorced
since nineteen ninety two. He passes in twenty ten, and
then she says that she's getting all these you know,
connection She's trying to say basically, that he was coming
(10:26):
to her in these dreams. That's what she's alluding to.
Speaker 1 (10:29):
Well, that does happen in dreams? That does? I mean,
you know, dreams are a synthesization of your emotions. What
happens throughout the day. The day is kind of what
happens when you are in your dream state. And so
I can understand that there was some kind of anxiety
or fear, or if she was having abandonment, or if
she was having pain or whatever it was, maybe it
(10:49):
was being manifested in her ex because you know, I mean,
it was like he was that object that was like,
you're the one that's causing me pain. I don't know.
I'm not a doctor, but I mean I can play
one on TV.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Well it seems like she plays one on TV. Too.
But do you believe in ghosts?
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Do I believe in ghosts? No? I don't. I don't believe.
Speaker 2 (11:14):
Have you ever had a past loved one come to
you in a dream?
Speaker 1 (11:17):
I have. I have had like my mother come to
me and tell me what to do.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
And it was accurate. Yes, my mother, my past mother,
has also come to me in dreams. She has, but
we've we don't speak when she doesn't speak to me
in the dreams. She's quiet. But we've hugged before in
(11:43):
the dreams, because I've said, the most vivid one I
can remember was I walked into her kitchen and she
was there, and she turned around and I said, what
are you doing here? And we just hugged and that
was it. So dreams are powerful, and you know, I'm
(12:05):
also not a doctor, so I don't know how they
work and how things come to us, but you know,
I know, But it's like, right, it's it's interesting because
you know, I've had those dreams at different points. I
had them, you know, uh not I had them at
a distance after she passed, But then I've had them
(12:28):
throughout the years, you know what I mean, Not when
it was necessarily fresh. But what she's describing it sounds
like is when it happened right after his death. So clearly,
you know, I would think that he was on her
mind a lot.
Speaker 1 (12:40):
Right, and there seemed to be like a lot of
you know, obviously, there was like fear of abandonment, even
though he was they were already divorced. There. You know
that when that person that you have been with for
X amount of years passes, you still have abandonment issues
from that obvious clearly you're he was that person was
in your life, So I can understand why she was
(13:04):
feeling the way she was feeling. I just don't know
if I feel like he would be this is it's
very her, but her dream is very, very very clear.
Yours is like an emotion. Hers has clarity to it,
and I'm not sure how I feel about that.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Well. She goes on to say, he used to come
over me in a sweat, and I told him he
had to leave me alone, and then he did, she continues,
and then I felt really weird about it. And then
the day that I told someone how weird I felt
about it, I walked home in an odd way and
(13:43):
ran into a gallery that had all of his photographs up.
There was a photograph of him in the very back
of the gallery with a fedora on winking at the camera.
So I felt like he was letting me go. But
she says that wasn't the last time he visited her.
She then recalled a dream where they were both in
(14:04):
a cafeteria in Greece, and he told me that he
was okay and that he wasn't in pain anymore, and
he was good and I never heard from him again. Wow.
Speaker 1 (14:17):
Interesting, I mean very interesting and very lovely by the way,
I mean really very like cinematic almost. I don't know.
I mean I have never had anything like that. I
mean I'm an avoidant, ID be able.
Speaker 2 (14:36):
To have those.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
I'm like, what, who? I don't know? You.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
Well, drop us a comment or send us an email
if you've ever had the ghost of an ex haunt you,
or come to you, because we'd love to hear their stories.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
Move on. So, Olivia Wilde recalls a traumatizing moment she
was served papers from Jason Tadakas on stage four years ago.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
Do you remember this? This was like a huge headline moment.
What just happened?
Speaker 1 (15:16):
I know? So just recapping four years ago after one
of her most upsetting moments, Olivia Wilde is looking back
on being served legal papers from her ex Jason Toadakas,
while on stage at CinemaCon in twenty twenty two. She says,
I will never forget one of the most ft, blank
(15:38):
up things that I went through among so much among
so many was that I was served papers on stage.
Speaker 2 (15:47):
And she says it was incredibly traumatizing, so traumatizing. What
was crazy about this? And I had to look it up?
They were actually never married.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Oh I didn't know that. I thought they were.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
He served her with child like child custody papers because
they have two children together, So they were actually never married.
And she goes on to say, basically she was on
call her daddy. And she goes on to say that
like her ex obviously didn't know when she was going
to be served with these papers, like he's not in
(16:19):
control of this or anything like that, but you know,
it's really horrific to think about that she would get
that live on camera. And then she says, she says,
I remember, like a couple months later, I met Tom
Cruise and he was like, Hi, I'm tomd Up. What
happened to you in Vegas? Tom Cruise?
Speaker 1 (16:41):
Oh? Like she became more famous from it. But it
can mean on stage you're promoting a movie. Don't worry, Darling.
That's that's not fair. That's just this is not fair.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
That was a very strange thing.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
And I don't get I don't get why it had
to be like that. I don't does does he want?
I mean that just haints him is such a bad picture.
Why would he wanted to drop like that?
Speaker 2 (17:04):
He had nothing to do with it. So it's the
company that or whoever does the serving, it's their job
to find the person. But I don't think that they're
supposed to get themselves into like a a con and
get on stage and go that route. I think that's
(17:24):
a little extreme.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
It's like Bravo con stuff, not CinemaCon.
Speaker 2 (17:29):
No, it's it's all bad. She also revealed though, in
the same interview on Call Her Daddy about where her
co parenting is with Jason and how it has shifted
kind of her mindset. So they have two kids, like
I was saying, and she basically opened up and said,
(17:50):
I really value the opportunity to be completely present with
her kids and then to hand them off to a
very capable co parent who is very present with them
when he's with them. Then I have this space, which
is permission to then go work my fucking ass off.
And then she went on to say that the kids
(18:12):
get the best of them and that they are co
parenting really well together. She says, I actually find this
divvying up of responsibility in a way can allow for
really amazing parenting. Because we are always our best with
our kids, they get the best of us. I mean,
we are great faking co parents. She goes on to say, which, listen,
(18:35):
I think that's wonderful. Yeah, I think that's wonderful that
she's gotten, that they've both gotten to that place that
is not typical. You are a perfect example, Kelly of
you did not have that kind of co parenting situation
and you had to raise your two girls by yourself.
It just goes to show that parenting is the hardest
(18:59):
job on the plan, and we need to lift up
single moms and dads as much as we can because
they're doing a lot. They're doing the job of two
by themselves, whether they have a co parent that's involved
or not. It's a lot for one person to take on.
So I think it's great that they're there and that
(19:21):
inspires other people that are out there, maybe on their journey,
that they can get there as well. But as a celebrity,
I also want to note that she's probably got assistants, nanny's,
you know, personal chef, and all those kinds of things
that are also in her arsenal, which you know is helpful,
but it's great to hear that they've you know, come
(19:43):
a long way, it sounds like in the last four years.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
I think it's also to your point. I think as
a celebrity, I think it's great to hear that celebrities
are doing that. I think real people like myself, not
that she's not a real person, but I'm on reality.
She's an actor. I'm not an actor, And you know,
when you are doing these things yourself, you know, like
my fuse was short all the time. I mean, like
(20:07):
I would be filming and I would just be like,
I've got kids in the car, like can we get
this scene done? Like I have to leave, And you know,
it just was very difficult to raise children, provide for them,
you know, do all these different activities, whether it was
writing or television, whatever it was, and all at the
same time, seven days a week.
Speaker 2 (20:28):
Yeah, it's the job that never ends.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
And I know that other people have it worse. And
I'm not trying to say it poor me, because I'm
proud of who I am, but I mean there's a
lot of people who are really really struggling with that
one man band. But I'm happy that they are able
to like have great careers and you know, love their children.
I mean, I think there's nothing more beautiful than that.
Speaker 2 (20:50):
Exactly. Well, our next headline was kind of surprising. The
Valley's Michelle shares rare update on surprise relationship with doctor Dre.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Now.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
We covered this when they were first snapped by the
paparazzi a couple of months ago. I mean, what do
you think? First, just off the bat, are you watching
the Valley? Have you seen the Valley?
Speaker 1 (21:14):
I mean, I love the Valley. Yeah, I've been so.
Speaker 2 (21:17):
You've been watching her whole demise.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
But I have watched many episodes and I literally am
obsessed with the Valley. I'm like, I can move to
the Valley. List that looks great.
Speaker 2 (21:27):
Fun, don't don't move to the Valley. But we've obviously
watched her entire marriage collapse with Jesse since the beginning
of the show, and last season we saw her very
quickly get into another relationship. She introduced the honey Gut
and remember he was the honey guy and he was
(21:48):
really involved in like her kid's life and like as
soon as cameras we're down, like he broke up with
her like so, and then Jesse's already in another relationship,
and you know, we've I haven't watched too much of
this season, but what I did see didn't look like
they were great. And this kind of this article kind
of alludes to that as well. But so she was
(22:12):
snapped with doctor.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Dre like doctor Drey, like the iconic doctor Drey, Like
what doctor Drey. He's like the icon of all icons.
Speaker 2 (22:23):
I just think it's an interesting pairing. I guess. Yeah.
So it says she split my boyfriend Aaron, that's the
honey guy, and was about to finalize her divorce from Jesse.
She was in a better place than ever before. She says,
I was very excited about everything. She says about the
start of this season. I just felt like I was
(22:44):
released of so much trauma from my past and let
it all go. I did a lot of therapy. I
was just ready for a brand new chapter.
Speaker 1 (22:53):
So my question is, are we going to be seeing
doctor Dre on the Valley?
Speaker 2 (22:58):
Hell? No, okay, we are. I'm there, but no, there's
absolutely no way that that is happening. But basically, I
saw she was on Watch What Happens Live. I think
this week too, and She said that they met through
mutual friends and she was just being super coy and
(23:18):
just kept being like, he's a great guy. He's a
great guy. In this article, when she was asked about
co parenting with Jesse, she says, I try not to
really have a relationship with him unless it has to
be about our daughter. We don't text, we won't see
each other unless, like Isabella has a school function, then
(23:38):
we'll go and we'll sit next to each other. We
definitely have our moments. He still makes me upset at
times and it's hard to navigate, but I just focus
on myself. Don't get me wrong. We definitely fight here
and there, but we're much better than before. I'm gonna
beg to differ that you see him more than that
because you co star on a reality show together, So
I see him more than I believe that. You don't
(24:02):
know that filming scenes correct exactly exactly.
Speaker 1 (24:05):
Thank you for the no text, but you're communicating.
Speaker 2 (24:09):
Yeah, they film in the summertime, so yeah. Her rare comment, Okay,
this is where I jumped ahead. Uh. She says, we're
spending time together. This is about doctor Dre. She says,
we're spending time together and we love being in each
other's company. And then again she says they met through
mutual friends. Then it says that her ex Jesse, was
(24:31):
asked by TMZ, you know, days after the two of
them were snapped at Noboo Malibu, and he says to
TMZ he did not get a heads up about the
couple's relationship and saw the images for the first time
on social media the same way everyone else did. So
I ask you this, Say you're in her situation. You
(24:54):
have a young child, right, her child is their child?
Is like in elementary school, you start dating somebody uber famous,
you get snapped by the paparazzi. You know you're snapped
by the paparazzi because they're in the parking lot when
you come out right of having dinner, Right, do you
(25:16):
give your ex a heads up?
Speaker 1 (25:18):
I mean, my ex is you know, while you know
so much older. But I would definitely say, like, I
just want you to know I was photographed with someone,
you know, just so you know I would not I'm not,
but I'm that kind of person, Like I'm a like
I'm a permission person, not a forgiveness person. So I
would be like, this is what's happening.
Speaker 2 (25:38):
I just think, like, I just think it's strange that
she didn't tell her ex, Like, I understand you, I
understand you. You don't like your ex. I get it.
But let me remind you. You co star on a
reality show with your ex.
Speaker 1 (25:54):
Well, you film together, you.
Speaker 2 (25:56):
Film together, you share a child together. I just think
it's like, you don't have to go into the details
about your relationship with doctor Gray. But I literally think
that you need to be like, hey, just FYI, I'm
kind of seeing doctor Dre right now. It's new and
we were snapped by the paparazzi. You don't have to
(26:17):
say any You could literally block your ex right after
you send that text message so he can't respond.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
I love that your.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
Ex is on a reality show. Look at this. TMZ
literally stopped him two days later, and he now he's like,
I had no idea. I just think it's weird, Michelle.
I just think it's a little weird.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
I totally agree, and I can't believe that she's doing that.
But I guess it's more. I guess Michelle is like,
it's more fodder for the show. It's more, you know,
when we can fight about it, Like, but it's also
kind of weird too, because it's like it just keeps it.
It's giving me unfinished business. So it's like you're so
(26:58):
removed and you can't tell your what's going on why
so you can create some kind of underpinning of drama
between the two of you. So you're going to do
what win.
Speaker 2 (27:09):
I think it's given casual. I think she's actually not
that seriously dating him, or that maybe he's like dating
other people, and I think that she like is trying
to save face and like not talk about it a
lot because it's actually not that serious. On Watch What
Happens Live, Andy asked if doctor Dre had like met
(27:32):
her kid, and she was like, no, So I mean, so, Michelle,
I will give you a round of applause that you're
doing things differently than with your last boyfriend, who, like
you were bringing him into the mix right away. So
maybe she's just like she's learned something. But anyways, our
(27:52):
next headline says Katie Perry says falling in love with
Justin Trudeau transformed me after a pretty tough year. Now,
remember Katie Perry was married to Russell brand Yes, then divorced,
then long engagement with Orlando Bloom, who she had a
(28:13):
daughter with, and then they called off their engagement and
broke up. Now she's with former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
and he was previously married to a woman named Sophie
and they have three children and they've been separated since
twenty twenty three. So that's just the headlines of their
(28:37):
relationship history. But Katie was recently on a podcast called Unfamous,
and she said that I have love in my life now.
That transformed me. She when asked about how she has
changed as a songwriter through the years, she said, you
think when the Beatles say all you need is love,
(28:59):
it's cliche. Cliches are cliches for a reason. It's like,
you don't know until you have your baby how beautiful
that experience is and how it transforms you.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
Wait, I love that though.
Speaker 2 (29:11):
Yeah, I mean that's a great.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
Lyric by the way, Yeah, did I just say that
out loud.
Speaker 2 (29:17):
She's been dating Justin since summer of twenty twenty five,
and she went on to say, I am constantly in transformation,
and I have so many placements of scorpio in my
chart that it would be easy for me to go
to this dark side. She said, I'm constantly rebirthing, constantly transforming, constantly,
(29:37):
you know, Phoenix to ashes and then hopefully an eagle.
She says about her you know, relationship with Orlando bloom Ending,
she says, I don't typically feel like a victim. You
can hear it in my songs that I don't resonate
with that. But last year was pretty tough. It would
have been easy for me to fall into that weird
(29:58):
victim triangle. So instead of falling into woe is Me,
I was like, let's just feel this sing pain, Let's
feel this anger, and let's move on. Let's learn from it. Also,
let's get some feedback from it. So this is what
I think is interesting, and I want to get your
taked on this.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
Sorry, I have to tell you. Are those also some
iconic lyrics as well.
Speaker 2 (30:23):
I'm sure she's in songwriting mode for sure, but I
want to get your take on this because she's coming
out of this long engagement with let's call it a marriage.
It's common, you know, long marriage. I think when you
have a child with somebody and you're living with somebody
the child. Having a child with somebody is the more
(30:44):
serious commitment in my eyes, like marriage, can be ending
in divorce. A child is forever. You are now forever
linked to somebody. So she's coming out of that, he's
coming out of his marriage. The two of them, I
don't know, trauma, bond over their shared pain and find
(31:06):
love in each other. It's very reminiscent I think of
like when I think of other celebrity couples, it's like
Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton, Like they both kind of
fell in love as they were coming out of their divorces,
and Gwen is pretty They've both been pretty open about
how They've never said point blank what they connected on,
(31:28):
but they've alluded to the fact that they both experienced
something very similar in their marriages, and that's kind of
what bonded them together. Do you think it's Do you
think you should start dating when somebody is separated? Do
you think that a trauma bond like this is actually
(31:51):
a good foundation for a relationship.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
So that's two questions. Do I think people should date
when they're separated?
Speaker 2 (31:58):
No?
Speaker 1 (31:59):
I mean I know that after I was separated, I
was such a mess trying to figure my own self out.
I mean, not even putting into consideration my children, are
financial future all these things, But I mean, I was
I was so scarred by the relationship that I had
had with my ex and I cared about him very much.
(32:22):
I trusted him, and when I met guys afterwards, I
did not trust them, I mean, and furthermore, I didn't
even see them. I was just like they were like, oh, yeah,
you're like the new hot thing because you're divorced. Everyone
wants to date me. And I was like, wow, that
really makes me feel really good. No, so I can
(32:44):
see and now in the trauma bond if there if
I had met someone during that period who was bonding
with me over the trauma that I was going through
and helping me navigate those uncharted territory and wild waters,
I probably would have gotten me married quickly. But it
(33:06):
was always just like I was so like, like, what
are what are they trying to do? What do they
you know? They just want to date me because I'm
well known. They wanted to date me because I'm new
blood and flesh, and I just was very And it's
not negative. I was very I was very afraid. It
was very afraid. So I love the lyrics that she's writing.
(33:28):
She's pretty definitely listen to that song.
Speaker 2 (33:32):
I've never been divorced. You've said that a handful of
times on this podcast, But I think that it's odd
to me when people relationship jump, when people go from
something directly into something else. Seriously, I think that single
(33:57):
hood is scary for a lot of people. And I
say that because what keeps people in bad marriages the
idea of being single. It's something that people really try
to avoid because it's not necessarily fun. It can be
(34:17):
empowering later in the journey, but when you're first in it,
it's not fun. And I think that there's a lot
of times and I know these people I know, I
know divorced people that relationship hop constantly, that are constantly
moving in with somebody new, packing up, moving getting into
(34:41):
another relationship and just on this merry go round. And
it's because they can't sit in the silence of singlehood.
And that's what this is. I mean, I if this
is love and this is something that's going to be
great for them and the law long term. Great this
(35:02):
is we're coming up It sounds like we're coming up
on a year of them having been together, because they
got together in summer of last year, so I think
that's great for them. And you know, how do we know,
like how long her relationship with Orlando Bloom was like
on the rocks and like it was like maybe they
were living separate lives for a long time before they
actually publicly acknowledged that they weren't together. We don't know
(35:25):
that kind of stuff. But I find it interesting for
people that are able to relationship hop because for myself,
it's not something I can relate to it. I have
to process what is happening and it is extremely difficult
for me to turn off feelings. And I just find
(35:48):
it interesting. So if you're listening and you have been
a relationship hopper your whole life, drop us an email
or leave a comment about how you're able to do that,
if it's been successful for you, if there is, if
you're wanting to stop doing that and you're wanting to
try and sit in the single life, if you've never
done that and you've wanted to try it, please let
(36:10):
us know, because again, that's not something that I've ever experienced,
and I'm kind of fascinated by people that are able
to do it, But I also feel like it doesn't
promote growth and processing of emotions when you're constantly jumping.
That's just my take as a not doctor now as a.
Speaker 1 (36:30):
Non doctor doctor, doctor, I I listen. I think I
think you're spot on. I think relationship hopping is I mean,
obviously you're doing that for a reason. I have to say.
I mean this sounds cliche, but you know, being alone
is lonely. And I think what is what you're What
is so great about what you're saying is that really
(36:53):
knowing who you are when you're sitting still, knowing what
you want, Knowing what makes you the best version of you,
what makes you the worst version of you. Really being
able to like settle in with those kind of feelings
I think is very, very very important to having a
new relationship. I think people just do it because they're
just like, I don't care about my feelings. I just
(37:15):
want to be with someone because I don't want to
be alone and I don't want to be lonely.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
Well, and especially if you've been in a long term
marriage or relationship, the idea of going from having somebody
that you went to the grocery store with, ate dinner with,
you know, went you know, and did vacations with, to
not having somebody by your side is a big difference.
(37:44):
And if you've never experienced life going to restaurants alone,
traveling alone, and I mean alone, I don't mean as
you're the single person on a trip with other couples.
I mean traveling by yourself, eating at a restaurant during
the daytime at a table, not getting to go food
(38:05):
by yourself, going to a comedy show by yourself, and
sitting at a table like if you have not experienced
these things ever, and now you find yourself divorced and
everybody you know is still married and in these couples,
and now it's either you third wheel it or you
(38:25):
do things by yourself. I know that that can be daunting,
and that is why I think a lot of people
jump into something right away, whether it feels right or not.
But anyways, like I said, I'd love to hear from
you guys about if you do that, why you do that,
if you've wanted to try that, why that seems appealing
to you.
Speaker 1 (38:43):
If run hopping is a big thing though, because I
am single, if anyone thinks that I should be should
be hopping from person to person, let me know. Yeah,
I want to hear your thoughts too.
Speaker 2 (38:54):
Let us know. I mean personally, I'm just going to
say that the people that I know that do it
don't have success. I have not seen a successful relationship.
And I know somebody else that always had somebody waiting
in the wings before they broke up with somebody, you know.
And I don't know if it serves people well, but
(39:16):
if you are a success story from that, tell us
about it. Our final headline is from the Queen of Love,
She Loves Love. It's Jennifer Lopez and she says that
(39:37):
she told herself, you need to fucking figure yourself out
after her divorce from Ben Affleck. So she was on
SmartLess this week, and you know, she was talking and
it's interesting that she's talking about this because her and Ben,
(39:57):
I think, do not talk a lot about the divorce
or their reconciliation and then split again. So Sean Hayes
asked her what happened, and uh, she said, that's for
a different time, which she was laughing though when she
said it. And she said, you come over, we have
(40:19):
a glass of wine and you come to the new house.
It's amazing. And then she's like alluding to that, she
said she's experienced a very emotional time in recent months,
in part because her children, Emmy and Max, who she
had with Mark Anthony, are going to be going to college.
Uh So she's in that transitional period of, you know,
(40:40):
kind of becoming an empty nester, and she says, I'm
also staring down what is my life? You know now
the past twenty years it's been one thing. The past
five years have been a tumult, and then the last
two years has been kind of the healing process from
that tumult, where I really get to know myself. The
(41:01):
person I am today is so different than the person
I was even two years ago. It's crazy. And now
I can really look at life, appreciate it for what
it is and what I've created for myself, and really
be happy. She also noted that there have been times
in her life when she felt like my life blew
up in my own face, without naming specific moments. It
(41:25):
was because of the choices I made, but also because
of the fact that I had things that needed to
change about myself that I didn't understand or recognize, that
was attracting certain things and attracting a certain type of
experience into my life. So I want to give myself
that credit too. But there comes a point where it's
all so puzzling and wrong where you have to sit there.
(41:47):
This is what we were just talking about, right, yes,
she says, And after my last divorce, I just sat
there and I was like, I canceled my tour and
I sat there and I was just like, you need
to figure yourself out. What is going on with you?
Forget about everybody else. There's nobody to blame here except
(42:07):
yourself in a certain way. And and Jlo is totally
guilty of what we were just talking about. She has
always been a relationship hopper, and she has always said
she loves love. And I think it's kind of interesting
to hear this perspective that it sounds like she's doing
(42:28):
the work this time, at this point in her life.
It sounds like she's really doing the work because she's
looked back at her life and said, what's the common
denominator here?
Speaker 1 (42:38):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (42:38):
It's me, right, I need.
Speaker 1 (42:41):
I also love the accountability. I also love that she
is recognizing that, like you said, what's the common denominator?
I need to figure this out. You know, whatever he's doing,
that's his life, this is her life. I also have
a lot of admiration for her for not for canceling
the tour. I mean, it's a lot of money, it's
(43:02):
a way of distraction, and she's like, no, I'm going
to figure my life out. I mean that takes a
lot of balls, and I really admire that. I mean,
I know, I don't know many people in her position
who are entertainers would do that.
Speaker 2 (43:16):
Yeah, and she's also saying she needed to figure out
what she was attracting. So again, it's like, if something
keeps happening, what's the definition of insanity. It's like, it's
when you keep doing something and expecting a different result
results rights, how can you, Jlo? How can you keep
(43:38):
going into marriage thinking it's going to be different when
you're doing and approaching it maybe the same way every
single time. So kudos to j Loo for doing the work,
taking the time to pause. And I don't think we've
really seen her having any sort of public romance in
a minute, and I do think that that is just
(44:01):
a sign that maybe she's doing things a little bit
differently this time. So anyways, I hope that this was
kind of inspiring to people who are listening, because clearly
celebs are going through it just like regular people.
Speaker 1 (44:15):
They are and they're doing the work just like regular people,
and they're accountable for their actions. I think that, like
what I said before, just it's very very easy to
be distracted by your work, your friends, like whatever it is,
your worker classes, whatever it is that's on your you know,
your everyday schedule, your schedule is everything. But when you
(44:37):
really start to like put the schedule aside and put
in the work, you know you. I mean, I have
put in a lot of work on myself and I
feel I feel so much just more solid. I feel
like I would listen differently. I care more. I mean,
I consider myself a giving person, but I genuinely care more.
(44:59):
And it's been really really it's been an amazing experience.
Speaker 2 (45:03):
I know I told you this, but I've seen so
much change in you since you started this podcast. It's
been very fantastic.
Speaker 1 (45:10):
I know when you first met when I first met you,
I was just like, oh my god, how did I
get do this? I was so scared, I was so intimidated.
I was just so like, I just was so insular.
I thank you. It really means a lot to me
coming from you, especially thank you May.
Speaker 2 (45:29):
It's the truth.
Speaker 1 (45:30):
Are you going through of a divorce right now? Are
you going through a really difficult time? Are you relationship hopping?
I want to know it all. Send us an email,
text us dm us on Insta. We want to know
everything and if you want to hear this again, everything
is in the show notes. I do part two an
(45:54):
iHeartRadio podcast. We're falling in love is the main objective.
