Speaker 1 (00:00):
On today's episode of News, we're talking about trailers. We're
talking about more trailers. We're talking about a few more trailers,
We're talking about FCC investigations and more.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Hello.
Speaker 1 (00:27):
My name is Jason Concepcion and I'm mesday Night and
welcome back to xtra Vision the News.
Speaker 2 (00:34):
We got the news Extra Vision.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
The News, and we'll give you the news is coming
from podcasts, where we're reading three episodes a week every Tuesday, Wednesday,
Thursday plus News.
Speaker 3 (00:44):
In today's previously on News episode, we are catching up
on the biggest geek news of the week, including some
depressing news about the FCCS, the f c C investigating
Disney being too woke. I don't know how else to
put it, it's ridiculous, and some white loathus drama off
(01:08):
screen as well as on screen.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
But first, let's talk about all the trailers coming out
of CinemaCon in Vegas. And there's a lot of news
coming out of Cimicontus. Fans of the eighties Naked Gun
comedy franchise starring Leslie Nielsen.
Speaker 2 (01:29):
In oj Simpson.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Who sorry, rejoice, We're getting a reboot and it's starring
Liam Neeson and Pam Anderson in the SETH McFarland produced
reboot of the Naked Gun franchise. And I will say
I there is an OJ joke in the trailer, and
I found the trailer to be I'm excited.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
I will watch this movie. I am not a fan
of Liam Neeson and his obviously admit attempted hate crimes.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
He did attempt to do a hate.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Crime, attempt to do a hate crime. But I do
love Pama Anderson. I'm very interested to see her in
this movie doing some comedic acting. I think that they
understand what makes the Naked Gun work from the look
at this trailer. Yeah, I'm interested. I will see. I'll
see what happens.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
You know, I Uh, at this point, I just kind
of assume that.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Most folks of the.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
Cocazoid persuasion of a certain age have some kind of
hidden hate crime in their background. And you know, I've
just come to terms with that bad new morvel Rivals
is guess what the hell? Fire Gala A trailer has
(02:58):
dropped and wow, we got to see Emma Frost in action.
She will be dropped ahead of season two. Emma Frost
is a tank and all of which is tremendously exciting.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
The size of tanking. Folks.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
She is good if you love Krokoa. We have a
lot of Krocoa lovers, and it's we're getting to see
Kracoa the living planet. You're going to be there for
the hell fight Garla. You're seeing Wolverine, seeing Scarlet, Witch,
seeing some beautiful outfits. And something that really moved a
lot of the comic creators from the Krocoa era was
(03:37):
there was a lot of shout outs in the announcement
that the novel rival team did, so there's a lot
of love for the comics here. I was not expecting
them to go to Krocoa so fast. It looks great.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Looks great news. Uh more news out of cinemacn.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
Yep, if you can believe it, we got a name
reveal for the next live action Tom Holland Spider Man
movie called spider Man Brand New Day. I still can't
believe they went for it, but you know what. We'll
talk about that more on another episode. And some new
images from Beyond the Spider Verse, the highly anticipated sequel
and potential trilogy ender and franchise ended depending on where
(04:17):
it goes next. From the studio behind into the Spider
Verse and across the Spider Verse, two very beloved movies
and we can't wait to see the next one.
Speaker 1 (04:30):
And a new trailer fron and snippet of the film
The Thunderbolts, and uh some new footage from the Fantastic
Four that would seem to suggest that Sustorm is pregnant
during Yes.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
That does interest, like what is happening? Yeah, Also, obviously
we will be talking more about Brand New Day, something
that is very controversial and hilarious and is wild to
me that they chose to name this that that it's
a huge deal and yeah, I am intrigued to see
(05:06):
where this goes. It's lots and lots and lots of
big news from there that be on the Spider Us stuff.
New look at their version of Prowler, This kind of
reimagined Miles Morale's version. Looks great, looks beautiful. When will
it come out? I don't know, hopefully before twenty thirty.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
And certainly, last, but not least, probably the biggest news
out of CinemaCon was the new Superman trailer that also
got shared on It's not even a trailer really, it's
like the first four and a half minutes. Yeah, four
and four minutes. Fifty second clip of that expands on
(05:51):
the intro you have from the trailer where Superman crashes
to Earth and then Crypto comes and saves him, and
you get this really wonderful comedic interplay where like Crypto
is like, you know, bounding on Superman and like get up,
get up, get up, pushing him with the two front paws,
and Superman is like grievously injured, is like stop doing that.
(06:12):
We get to see the inside of the Fortress of Solitude,
We see some shots of Alex Luthor and some kind
of a giant monster invading Metropolis. It uh, it got
me excited. I think this looks Yeah.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
I love there's some really fun moments between the between
the robots and Superman. Yeah, where they are like, oh,
you know, thanks for saying thank you to us, but
we don't understand that because we are emotionless droids, just
(06:48):
here to help. And then he's like and here's the
new Droid twelve and Superman looks Aro and smiles, and
she's like he looked at me. There's a lot of
fun here. I love the moment where we get to
see Superman being super charged by the magnified rays of
the Yeah, he's from yellow some baby, very all Star Superman. Yeah,
(07:09):
I mean it looks great. I believe if you are
going to see the Minecraft movie this weekend, it will
be shown the five minutes on big screen before that movie.
Speaker 1 (07:19):
So it's clear to me also that that's the first
that's the opening of the film. Right, that's gonna be
the opening of the movie.
Speaker 3 (07:25):
I am not sure, but it seems like it would
be a fantastic opening if it were to.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
I think it.
Speaker 1 (07:32):
Something must happen, much like All Star Superman. Right, he's
doing some sort of experiment, goes wrong, he gets thrown down.
Speaker 3 (07:40):
Yeah, maybe also that giant some way.
Speaker 1 (07:44):
Yeah, maybe the giant monster they hit him with the
with the yellow sun and this supercharges his powers. But
also maybe he's dying.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
Now, maybe he's dying. It's very All Star Superman. Spoiler
alert for that old book and maybe this movie that
comes out in July of this year.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Next up, Trump's FCC commissioner opens investigation into walls into
the Walt Disney Company and ABC for its DEI policies.
They're investigating to determine if the Disney is quote promoting
forms of DEI discrimination, which obviously is totally insane and
as yet another attempt as we are seeing in various
(08:25):
other sectors too, you know, basically like extort something from Disney,
whether it's money or a promise to create a right
wing films or whatever it is.
Speaker 3 (08:43):
You know, like incredibly stupid. I mean also especially seems
like a waste of time because like many companies, Disney
is already capitulating in some ways, like the removal of
the trans character from that recent animated series. Uh yeah,
I think this is.
Speaker 1 (09:00):
Just allowing Finn Jones to speculative that you might return.
Speaker 3 (09:05):
That's what they really want. That's what the FCC investigations about,
Like letting Jones have a set chance, guys, just let
him be iron fist. But yes, luckily, I will say,
Disney is a corporation that hates to be told what
to do. And they also have incredibly vicious and litigious lawyers,
as we have known throughout our lives when it comes
(09:27):
to you know, cease and desisting people feusing Winny the
Pool on children's graves, et cetera. This to me seems
like a battle that the FCC won't win. Or won't
want to actually complete if Disney decides to fight against it,
but that question is unclear where this stands right now
and whether they actually have any control to do this
(09:47):
in any way, Let's.
Speaker 2 (09:49):
Take a quick break and we'll be right back.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Yeah, and we're back in Prestige TV News. Cristobal Topia Devir,
(10:13):
the composer behind the music of White Lotus, including its
iconic theme song, which has clots that he is quack
a series because because Mike White didn't I was giving
him notes. Apparently, this is one of the craziest stories
I've seen, and it's very.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
Funny to me. He basically, I know your people were
like reaching out to Variety and being like, hey, can
you run this please? I'm pissed off with Mike White,
my old friend.
Speaker 2 (10:44):
This is insane to me.
Speaker 1 (10:45):
So apparently there he wanted to add like the a
certain melodic sequence in and wanted to kind of elongate
the beat drop portion also of the theme song, and
Mike White was like no. Mike White, who created the
show and as the executive producer of the show, was like, no,
let's not do that. And Christa Ball was just like, well,
(11:07):
fuck this, I'm quitting yeah, listen, I support we support
artists here.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
I support artists, Okay.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
I think artists should have the ability creativity creatively to
do what they do on their own projects. If Crysta
Ball has his own album that he's putting out, nobody
should be able to tell him what's on that. If
you got hired to write a jingle, write the fucking
jingle and cash the check.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
What is funny to me too? Because I bet Christa
Bau was like so happy when everyone was like upset
that they changed the theme for season three and no,
well now everyone's like, yeah, of course, now they're nine episodes,
like about nine episodes in or whatever?
Speaker 2 (11:47):
A what is the point of this?
Speaker 1 (11:48):
Why do I this seems so like destructive from a
pr like what do you?
Speaker 3 (11:54):
Obviously very creatively intertwined and this really upset christaball. And
also when you read this about this from the first season,
they were having these kind of fights, it seems like
the two of them were constantly in beef. Christaval was like,
I was hired because I'm an experimental musician and Ahpbo
was like, please just like make a song, like just
(12:14):
make an almost song please.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
I will say, like we've been informed by our producer
Carmen also that they're kind of up and down. Relationship
between Cristapal and Mike White has has like goes back
to season one and certainly the tenor and the back
and forth between them, their working relationship is unique. I'll
(12:39):
just put it that way. It feels like it intersects
with maybe another kind of relate.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
I don't know, hast out. Christaval actually like he was like,
it's like the bird cage, okay.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
Which is like, okay, we get it, all right.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
Guys, we get it. Like I want to know, like
christabll literally let's leave it with this, because I think
this says so good. It says Christoval says, this is
their lost fight. But ever, okay, okay, they're not having
another fight, all right, guys. I think we could expect
CHRISTI about to retire for season four. I want to
know I did to make it up for him. But yes,
(13:17):
incredible drama. I love it.
Speaker 1 (13:19):
This, also, by the way, jibes with Jason Isaacs, Oh,
cast member of White Lotus season three, his recent comments
suggesting heavily that there was a lot of drama behind
the scenes on the set of White Lotus and I'm
paraphrasing his words now, but he basically said some people
(13:40):
were friends when they went into it, and they're not
friends anymore. And some people weren't friends and now they
are friends. And there's people that will not speak now
after we have done this so clearly, very dramatic.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
Sc What do you think is gonna happen when you
put a bunch of rich people in a fancy four
seasons and then make a show where they or like
fucking each other? I feel like it was inavitable. I
want people to have professional boundaries, as we all do,
but let's be real, like you know, I'm not surprised
that this is a show with a little of drama.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Another interesting thing about that shoot, every single cast member
makes the same yes, which yes, I think is great.
Let's do more of that and may be something that
also added to some of the drama A great but
I think that that's great.
Speaker 2 (14:30):
I actually think that should be the case a lot.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
More more movie news, AMC announces that the forty five
d day window for movies before they hit streaming is
back could be window.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
I think they're talking.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
About it being about that's.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
Okay, So AMC CEO Adam Aaron says that he has
three of the six major films studios in agreement handshake
agreement that it would be great if the forty five
day theater exclusive window before it streaming comes back. The
window for Disney has been sixty days in theaters. Other studios,
(15:15):
as I think we've seen, has been much less eighteen
to thirty six days. Certain movies, you know, certainly as
we were rounding out award season, just like seeming like
they immediately came to streaming. So this is great news
if you love as we do, the cinema and the
cinema experience.
Speaker 3 (15:31):
I agree, and I do think I've seen a lot
of really interesting thoughts about this. On a personal level,
I think a lot of the smaller movies that we enjoy,
like I thought Companion was really fun. I that was
a movie that I think if it had been in
cinemas for you know, a proper amount of time, could
have had that long lead, constant word of mouth success.
(15:52):
And that has been one of the thoughts is kind
of like, good we can get more mid level and
lower budget movies in the cinema for longer and let
them have those legs. But also I have seen good conversations.
And obviously we are blessed because we live in La
so this is not so much of an issue for us,
but good conversations about the quality of moviegoing experiences for viewers.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
It's important, yes, and how do you get them out
of your house exactly their houses?
Speaker 2 (16:18):
How do you make it worthwhile for them.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
We've got to make more discounted days. You've got to
have affordable combos for popcorn. You've got to be able
to make sure that there's madinas, there are seats, matinees up,
matinee prices till six pm maybe instead of three pm.
There's been good conversations about that, and I think in
general this could be a really good thing because I
(16:40):
love going to cinema. I go a lot, but it's
not always easy for people to go. There are cinemas
even here at my local AMC that I love. It
does not have lounges, it does not have comfortable seating
if you are not the size of somebody who was
going to the cinema in like the forties. So I
think that we yeah, I think it's time to shake
it up. But I think the forty five day exclusive
(17:03):
the window is a great way to start, and then
let's make sure that the cinemas are comfortable and enjoyable
for the viewers. And before we go, listeners, we would
like to honor the life of the amazing Val Kilma,
who passed away this week. Many of us knew him
as Batman, many of us knew him as Iceman from
(17:29):
Top Gun. We also loved him in movies like Real
Genius and Tombstone. He was a fantastic actor and he
was remembered by many in the artistic community after his
passing at just sixty five, including at Cinema Con Tom Cruise,
(17:52):
who actually took to the stage and said, I think
it would be really nice if we could have a
moment together because he loved movies and he gave a
lot to all of us. Just kind of think about
the wonderful times that we had with them, and Cinema
kwon acquiesced and they all took a moment to think
of Val Kilma as we do here at X ray Vision.
Speaker 1 (18:14):
On next week's episodes of X ray Vision, we're diving
into the thirtieth anniversary of a Goofy movie with super
Goofy fan Danny Fernandez, the voice of Goofy, Bill Farmer
and director Kevin Limo. On Tuesday, we try to name
the era of TV after the Golden Age and what
stage of TV is this Some of the great TV
that's out there right now, including Yellow Jackets, The Pit, Invincible,
(18:34):
Paradise of White Lotus. Thursday, we're back in Hell's Kitchen
for Daredevil Born Again one O eight, and we begin
to recap on Friday, the Last of Us.
Speaker 2 (18:44):
That's it for news. Thanks for listening.
