and me both we're between seasons right now, but I
recently had an opportunity to chat with one of my
favorite actors, who also happens to be one of my
favorite people too, and I couldn't wait to share this
conversation with all of you. Francis McDorman has been acting

for four decades, and in that time, she's given us
incredible performances on stage and screen, from police Chief Marge
Gunderson in Fargo to a displaced worker and widow in
Nomad Land, and along the way. She's won an astonishing
four Academy Awards and is up for another two for

her latest film, Women Talking, which she both appears in
and produced. We talk all about that powerful film, which
portrays a community of Mennonite women in crisis, but it
also speaks to the difficult choices many women have to
make every day. We also talk about her remarkable career,

going all the way back to some early advice she
was given by an agent. She sat me down and
she said, here's some things you need to know. You
gotta get that tooth fixed. I had a little chip
in my front tooth. She said you need to learn
how to use some makeup and wear high heels, because
you'd make a great pioneer woman. But they're not making
that many Westerns these days. I'm so glad Fran ignored
