Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hey, it's me Michael.

Speaker 2 (00:00):
Your morning show can be heard live five to eight
am Central, six to nine Eastern and great cities like Jackson, Mississippi, Akron, Ohio,
or Columbus, Georgia. We'd love to be a part of
your morning routine and we're grateful you're here now. Enjoy
the podcast.

Speaker 1 (00:15):
Starting your morning off right.

Speaker 3 (00:18):
A new way of talk, a new way of understanding
because we're in this together. This is your Morning Show
with Michael O'Dell Jordan.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hey, we are so grateful you're spending part of your
morning routine with us. Good morning, and welcome to Thursday, January,
the eighth year of Our Lord, twenty twenty six. Yes,
it's Thursday already. Time fly mine, I got news for you,
time Flies. Whether you're having fun or not, We're having
fun Tomorrow Friday with forty seven. Also a new book
out on Dolly Parton's Extraordinary Life. We'll talk to the author.

(00:51):
That's tomorrow as well. Next half hour, John Decker will
join us from the White House. We'll talk about the
latest on Greenland and what it could mean for the
US and its allies. And it's not a first. I'll
give you the history lesson a little bit later on.
There are several at least seven or eight that I
can remember, of the presidents who have set their eyes

(01:12):
on this before. Let me give you kind of like
a view of the top stories. We have. The Senate
set to vote today on a resolution that would block
President Trump from taking any further action in Venezuela. Again,
if this is a political move, it can't work. Secondly,
the American people are slightly in favor of everything that's

(01:34):
involved with Venezuela so far, so I'm not even sure
it's a winning issue for the Democrats. Homeland Security Secretary
Christy Nomes says the woman shot in the ice operation
of Minneapolis Wednesday was stalking immigration officers and then caught
on film trying to run one over. Lethal force was used.
And now welcome to the partisan alternate reality of narrative matrix.

(01:57):
Our national correspondent Roy O'Neil, trying to sift through all
of this and keep it strictly to the facts, joins
us with the latest from Minneapolis, and good morning, Rory, Yeah,
good morning.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
You know, luckily it was a relatively calm night last night.
I think there were concerns that there could be the
kind of demonstrations we saw in Minneapolis, like we saw
after the George Foreman killing and George Oh yeah, Floyd
Jill my apologist, right, George Blay killing, which happened just
four blocks apparently from this same location. Of course, there

(02:27):
had been the videos that we've all seen by now
from different angles, capturing exactly what happened as it unfolded.
Still lots of different interpretations of those videos. I was
most encouraged by the comments by the borders are Tom Holman,
who simply said it would be unprofessional to comment, and
what I think happened in that situation, let the investigation

(02:48):
play out, I think is probably an encouraging message right now.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
Well, I mean that used to be common sense, right,
I mean, why does there's something in our culture today?
And I don't know if it's by the twenty four
hour news cycle the internet. Everybody goes back to my
John F. Kennedy quote. We often enjoy the comfort of
opinion without the discomfort of thought. We jump to a
position and a firm opinion before anybody's even got the facts,

(03:14):
or if you only have one view of something. I
have now seen this from several views, and you know,
this woman is obviously disrespecting. I don't know whether she
was stalking, as Christy Nome says, I can't confirm that,
but she was currently going to go where she was
going to go. If it ran over an officer or not,
that I don't know. I mean I made the comment earlier.

(03:35):
If I took it upon myself to disrespect the Franklin
police officer today, let alone if he got in front
of me run them over, I'm suspecting I might get
shot too. So I don't know, but you got to
investigate it first. I'm with you. I appreciate him saying
it would be wrong to comment until the investigation is done.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
And there is a distinction between a police officer and
an ice officer, so what there's a bound to do
is slightly different, and that could be a big focus
of this review as to exactly you know this agent's behavior.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Well that and you know, people are getting ginned up,
and they're getting ginned up watching political theater, whether it's
in the halls of Congress or a state legislature or
on television, and they're taking that ginning up. But what
we can expect Rory this is I can almost answer
the question as easy as I ask it. Probably a
lot more protests, right, They would love to make this
at George Floyd and get the attention off the fraud.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
Right, And that's something that you know, again we saw
last night at least things were peaceful. So the demonstrations
mostly is a candlelight vigil kind of a thing happening
at the scene.

Speaker 1 (04:42):
Let's see if this expands.

Speaker 4 (04:43):
But you know that the rhetoric we heard from the
mayor and a little bit from the governor yesterday certainly
didn't help the situation.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
No, you have the mayor saying get the f out,
You got the governor waxing poetically. But it I almost
have the same comment I had over George Floyd, which was,
first of all, I wish George Floyd was alive. End
of story. As to why he's not alive, an investigation

(05:12):
will come to a conclusion. In this particular case, there
was no injustice because Chauvan and the other two officers
were all held legally accountable. All cops are not bad.
That was the rush and assumption that was made in
the same case here until we know what's having. First
of all, all of us wish this thirty nine year
old woman was alive. I wish she wasn't inner car

(05:34):
following ice. I wish he wasn't trying to get away
when they approached her and seemingly trying to run over
a nice officer. But I mean, we can't agree on anything, Rory.
We're fighting now over the food pyramid being turned upside
down or the renovations at the White House. Go figure.
Roy's gonna be back in the third hour. We're gonna
talk about the seizure of the Venezuelan oil takers. This
story fascinates me, and it does come with it increased

(05:58):
tensions with Russia, and we saw that brewing early in
the morning yesterday with some subs following certain tankers. But
so far there has not been an escalation, and I
think we have a grip on what the President plans
to do with the oil when he sells it. All Right, more,
with Rory coming up in the third hour, let me
get to some of your calls. Well, you have a

(06:20):
talkback button on our radio app, so you just press
a button. You don't rot on hold anymore. Gives you
thirty seconds, You make your comment, you ask your question.
Because it's your morning show. It's got to start your voice.
We start with Joe and Nashville.

Speaker 5 (06:33):
Yeah, Mikey, I gotta agree with Jeffrey. It's two for Tuesday,
and I think Red would agree with me. Also, it's
Thursday Thursdays.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
Yeah. Anyway, just saying I I got into talk radio
rather early nineteen eighty eight. The formats I did prior
to that were contemporary Christian, hot a Sea and oldies.
I always wanted to kind of Encline Crack. You never

(07:01):
had any fun. Yeah. The classic rock guys were always like,
you know, all right, here's rock and earls for you. Yeah.
Two for Tuesday, here's AC DC back and black.

Speaker 6 (07:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (07:10):
But it was what was Monday. I don't know if
you know I've heard Metallica Monday. I don't really remember you.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
This all started because you were wanting to do a
TUPAC Thursday. We're all the reach over, we want to
do a TUPAC Tuesday, TUPAC Tuesday. But it was two
for Tuesday, Thursday, Thursday, Eye and.

Speaker 7 (07:29):
Free form Friday. That's when we played whatever we want.
I was just trying to talk up Bruce Hornsby in
the rains.

Speaker 1 (07:34):
Let me have some fun, Bob, down in Mississippi, not
far from Biloxi. Hey Mikey, thanks for the shout out
for the Mississippi Highway Patrol. They do do a great job.
Just one more tip, never look them in the eye.
We were talking about respect for law enforcement. Yeah, I've
lived in some states where the troopers you know, come

(07:57):
out looking like Gaylord Sartagine and I'm like, I got
outrun you, and I'm not even in shape. You red
brought up Alabama where it looks like, oh, that's where
all the Crimson tide go that don't make the NFL.
I was in Mississippi and we were headed in my
father in law's funeral and me and the kids. I
had never heard rap music, all right. I mean I've

(08:17):
heard it lampooned, but Nick found the channel and I
couldn't believe the words, and so we weren't paying attention
and kind of, you know, on our way to something
very sad, having like a little fun moment, and I
wasn't paying attention. And I'm telling you, I was going fast,
very I'll leave it at very fast. And the lights

(08:38):
come on and I'm in Mississippi and this guy gets
out of his car and he doesn't look like the
state troopers I'm used to. This guy's chiseled and dressed
to the nines. I mean he had his hat on.
It had like a chid strap, skin tight uniform, and
he looked, you know, like Eddie George in his prime.

(08:59):
I was so into emanated, and I don't remember if
I looked him in the eyes. I looked at him
for the rear few mirror, and then I think I
just kind of shuddered, and I remember I had my
license in registration and my hand's easily visible. I said,
we're on our way to a funeral. And I know
I wasn't paying attention, and I know I was speeding.
What I was really thinking was fit me in a jumpsuit.
I'll start picking up trash. Whatever you say. He was

(09:19):
so just don't yank me out of this car. It
was very impressive. The best part of the story is
he did let me off with a warning that if
I don't slow down, we maybe going to our funeral.
So he was very kind in our time of mourning
and brief fund but I was very impressed. If he
represents the Mississippi Highway Patrol, you guys are a great ants.

(09:40):
This Joseph, I believe is Columbus Georgia wd ak.

Speaker 8 (09:44):
Michael lift them people like that woman in Minneapolis that
got killed. If they care so much about illegal immigrants
that they're willing to put their life on the line,
why don't they just move to the other country where
then people came from and try to improve their life
there instead of destroying our life here with the crazy
things that they say and do.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
It makes no sense to me. Yeah, and you know
what part of illegal? Don't we understand? There is a
process to come to this country legally, and then there
is a duty of assimilation. It keeps our culture and
our way of life intact. Every other country on this
global will make you respect that if you try to
go there. I don't know why we. I think it's

(10:28):
to divide the nation in order to conquer it, not
by the immigrants, but by certain political powers. By the way,
are we the number one morning show among Joe's? We
are a show of average Joe's, aren't we? We got
Joey Joseph, Let's go to Woody in Arizona.

Speaker 5 (10:45):
Did you stray away from what you were going to say?
You started to say, if you tap someone on the
shoulder in fifty eight, and then you said, no, no,
wait a minute. If I tap Red on the shoulder
in twenty twenty in Alabama, surely you get Wait you
went off to Mississippi and the cops. Were you going
to ask Red?

Speaker 1 (11:05):
My listeners are like John Madden with the telestrator, aren't they. No,
I was going to say the same thing. If you
tap somebody on the shoulder nineteen fifteen, Hey, law enforcement
was no big deal. Stock them while they're trying to
do their job, disrupt them while they're doing their their work.
Oh and if they try to approach you run them
over with your car. Everybody would have said, well, that's

(11:27):
a great way to die. So it's the same thing
as I was just talking to read off the air.
He brought up the Alabama State Troopers. I brought up
the Mississippi Highway Patrol. There are very intimidating figures. But no,
I was going to say the same thing. That's why
I didn't circle back. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. What there
was no profound lesson coming other than am I the

(11:48):
only one that still respects authority? Welcome to an eighty
d Thursday on your morning show. I thought it was
thirsty Thursday, Well, it kind of is. TeV is listening
in Phoenix, Arizona to Kate, why.

Speaker 9 (12:00):
I your morning show is my morning show. Good to
hear your voice again, Michael del Giorno, as I drive
to work in the morning, and by the way, let
Ice Enforcement agents do their job and get out of
their way.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
It's gonna do us all big favor in the end. Yeah,
and then whatever happens, unfortunately becomes a national debate and
fight and we're further divided. Plain's in Youngstown, Ohio?

Speaker 8 (12:27):
Did I hear right that protesters at White House construction
want them to stop construction?

Speaker 1 (12:36):
What do they want them to do?

Speaker 4 (12:37):
Leave the big hole in the ground there their goofy.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
I don't feel any data anything to that.

Speaker 10 (12:44):
You know.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
I don't know if we have a Nashville living in Dallas,
but I do know we have a Dallas living in Nashville.
My Dallas is gone. Well, I apologize about it. Maybe
we don't have a Dallas Lille. Maybe you'll find them later.
What about Big John? So Yesterday Stephen A.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
Smith said that the ICE agent was justified in the shooting,
but he could have shot at tays I don't think
they trained to do that.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
No, the video pretty much speaks for itself. You know.
Rory was quick to point out there's a distinction between
a law enforcement official and a nice agent. Look, we
all know what's going on, and I think we all
sense the level that is coming from Washington and late
night television theater that's ginning up this kind of disrespect

(13:34):
and behavior. And look and in their attempts to, I guess,
try to gin up a civil war they're causing. You know,
I think if the woman on January sixth, they let
them all in, it was a trap and they walked
into it. You've got all these members of Congress hiding

(13:57):
in the chamber like they've gone through a life threat experience.
And the only person killed on January sixth was a
retired Air Force woman who was shot and killed by
a Capitol police officer. Sometimes this political nonsensical, ridiculous theater

(14:20):
becomes real life tragedy for everyday citizens. And it happened
again in Minnesota. And probably the only thing as tragic as
that is what we'll make of it in the court
of a public opinion. This is Andy Hickson, formerly of Nashville,
now living in Detroit, Michigan, thanks to iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
My morning show is your morning show. Hey, it's Michael
reminding you that your morning show can be heard live
each weekday morning five to eighth Central, six to nine
Eastern in great cities like Nashville, Tennessee, two below, Mississippi,
and Sacramento, California. We'd love to be a part of
your morning routine and take the drive to work with you,

(15:00):
but better late than ever. We're grateful you're here now.
Enjoy the podcast.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
The Senate is set to vote today on a resolution
that would block President Trump taking any further action in Venezuela. Meanwhile,
the Trump administration says the latest seizure of two Venezuelan
linked oil tankers is having its intended effect on the
Venezuela government. And Tonight is the first of two semi
final games as we're in pursuit of a college football champion.

(15:26):
Tonight is the Fiesta Bowl from Tempe, Arizona orsi Glendale, Arizona.
I don't know where they play it. It doesn't matter,
but I can tell you it's six thirty Central, ten
seed Miami against Old Miss. Tomorrow night, the Peach Bowl
will be Oregon taking on Indiana. I'm looking at Tom

(15:46):
wrote me, Michael, you stated only one death on January sixth,
Ashley Babbitt, but you forgot Roseanne Boylan. I got to
be honest with you. I have no recollection of a
Trump protester being trampled to death. I can tell you
when I Wikipedia her name, it shows her dying on
January sixth, So it may just gotten around whether it's

(16:08):
one or two. The bottom line is you never heard
the left mourn for one or both of them ever,
let alone make a George Floyd out of them. Just
an insurrection with a dangerous band of hooligans. I love

(16:32):
when they say armed and none of them are armed.
One shot and killed, potentially a second trampled. Yeah, the
only two deaths, both on the protesting side. We were
looking over and I'm gonna go over it with John Decker.
But I think we can go back to eighteen sixty

(16:53):
seven and find presidential and governmental inter in Greenland from
the United States all the way through Truman. So this
is not a Donald Trump narcissistic creation. But White House
correspondent John Decker has the latest on Greenland and what
that could mean for the US and its allies and

(17:13):
good morning, John, Hey, good morning to you.

Speaker 6 (17:17):
That's right, you know, I think it's also important to
keep in mind a fairly recent history. You don't have
to go back hundreds of years.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
That's how long.

Speaker 6 (17:25):
Greenland has been associated with the Kingdom of Denmark. You
can go back to nineteen fifty one. I realized that's
more than half a century ago. But the US and
Greenland struck an agreement in nineteen fifty one, still on
the book bill valid and that agreement essentially gives carte
blanche to the United States to establish as many military

(17:49):
installations and bases in Greenland as the United States wants.
So if the president wants to do that starting tomorrow,
he can do that starting tomorrow. I think that that
is something that is often left out of the mix
when we talk about Greenland.

Speaker 1 (18:05):
Yeah, and when you go back to Truman, you know,
the fascination then was the build up of the Cold
War coming out of World War Two, and I think
it was, if I'm remembering correctly, was a space base
that was of the main interest back then. But there's
always been this interest, and I think it's always portrayed
as if Donald Trump just out of the blue, threw

(18:27):
that out there and in his craziness, kind of like
the Panama Canal. But no, but this has been not
only long term interest and attempts, but a long term
arrangement with the legal right. So where does this leave
the US and its allies in Europe. Well, where it
leaves us is figuring out a way to come some

(18:51):
of the rhetoric.

Speaker 6 (18:52):
I lower the rhetoric that has existed over the course
of the past few weeks as it relates to Greenland.
Do you remember the movie A Few Good Men, Jack Nicholson,
Tom Cruise. Jack Nicholson plays Colonel Jessop. Well, when Tom
Cruise's character goes down to Guantanamo, he's asking for some
information to help with his investigation.

Speaker 1 (19:15):
And you might.

Speaker 6 (19:15):
Recall Colonel Jessop says to Tom Cruise.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
You have to ask me nicely. Nice I want you
to stand there in that uniform exactly because the sun
makes him a little crazy, he said. But but yeah, exactly.

Speaker 6 (19:30):
I think that if President Trump simply lowered the temperature
and asked nicely the things that he wants out of Denmark.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
He's going to get what he wants.

Speaker 6 (19:40):
You get more as they say with honey than you
do with vinegar, and I think that applies to the situation.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
You know, it's interesting. I got an email from a
seventy four year old and he said, Dear Michael, one
would think that Denmark, as a member of NATO, would
be inclined to collaborate with the United States using combined
resources to combat evil like Russia and China. Right, maybe
it's just my seventy four year old opinion, but maybe

(20:07):
it's time for Europe to take care of Europe. Why
should we again bail out these arrogant, elitist Europeans. But see,
this is what it ends up being on both sides.
And that's where you know, this is starting to the
difference between this issue and the trend of this issue
with certain European I mean, we're seeing a matrix played

(20:27):
out in America based on the States. Political theater is
now becoming divided states and divided people. It does seem
like with Europe and the US they've got to get
on the same page because it's seemingly looking feeling like
more differences than working together consistently.

Speaker 6 (20:44):
And here's the thing that's so interesting. I was at
the NATO summit, which was a few months ago. When
you think about it, it took place in the Netherlands
at the Hague and it was all good feelings at
the NATO summit back then. During the so among all
the NATO allies, everybody thought that the NATO allies were
on the same page in terms of their outlook as

(21:07):
it relates to that defense alliance, the way they view
the world. And here we are about half a year later,
and things look so broken right now involving the NATO
Defense Alliance and the US involvement in the NATO Defense Alliance.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
And I guess what I was setting up is this question, John,
how much of this is the narrative? You know, the
drum beat of the narrative that Donald Trump is a tyrant.
Look what he did in Venezuela and now he's going
to try to do it in Greenland, and then that
creating concern for them. That's not helping either as well
as Trump's tone.

Speaker 6 (21:43):
Well, I don't think it is, you know, but look,
you know, as you know, the news cycles move so quickly,
so you know, I think that the tensions are high
right now. Maybe by next week things calm down. I
think that that is something to keep in mind. President
Trump certainly has demonstrated that he is capable of doing

(22:08):
just that, and I think he's very good in terms
of dealing with his counterparts around the world, and so
I think that there is a possibility that this can
get resolved.

Speaker 1 (22:20):
One of the key issues here is Mark or Rubio,
the Secretary of State.

Speaker 6 (22:25):
He will soon have a meeting with leadership of Denmark,
I believe their foreign minister, so his counterpart, and perhaps
that meeting will help lower the temperature involving US relations
with Denmark.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
And resolve this issue concerning Greenland. Yeah, and the President
had a very charming conversation with the Columbian president as well.
Are the Senate's going to go today a resolution that
would block Trump from taking any further action? Nobody thinks
this is going anywhere, right, not going anywhere.

Speaker 6 (22:52):
It does have bipartisan support because Rand Paul is involved
in that resolution. They have introduced a similar resolution for
that too, did not get enough votes, and this one
will not succeed either.

Speaker 1 (23:05):
John Decker he'll have more in his podcast, The White
House Briefing Room. It'll be up by nine eastern, eight Central,
and when you find it for Goodness says, give it
a preset, that weight. It's waiting for you every morning.
John is always our pleasure. Thank you for your coverage.
Thanks Michael, you got it. But everyone forgets something now
and then. I mean, that's normal. That's why when doctors

(23:25):
during your physical are talking to you, they go anything
that's beyond just normal. Forgetfulness, because we all forget names
or a word, or walk into a room and then
forget what we went in there to do. It happens
to all of us. But when those slips start happening
more and more often, it might be time to support
your brain health in a more targeted way. And that's
where Sarah Follan Brain Wellness comes in. It's recommended by neurologists,

(23:48):
not just talk show hosts. Sarah Follan Brain Wellness delivers

Speaker 3 (24:45):
It's your morning show with Michael del Choano.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
Yeah, we got Alan Parsons project on a thirsty Thursday.
Classy kids, Why ms what? There's somebody making fifteen grand
a year doing that right now? I show some respect. Yeah,
I was one of them. Forty nine minutes after the hour,
Good morning, and welcome to Thursday, January the eighth es.
I can't believe it's Thursday either. Twenty twenty six. Some clarifications.

(25:14):
The Peach or the Fiesta Bowl tonight, which is ten
seed Miami Hurricanes versus six seed Ole miss Rebels six
thirty will be in Glendale at the State Farm and
then tomorrow night is the Peach Bowl that will be
the Mercedes Benz Dome in Atlanta, Georgia, so we clarified that.
But the old if I think I'm right, but the

(25:37):
old Fiesta Bowl used to be in Tempee, right, I
think I'm right, But now they just kind of moved
it all to where the Cardinals play. So I'll be
in Glendale tonight. And to Big John's question, I don't
know who to pick. I mean, Miami was very, very
impressive that they have a twenty year veteran quarterback. You know,
they got a lot going for him. The hurricane, the

(25:59):
hurricane in Indiana to me look like two teams of destiny,
and I'm not certain anybody saw them coming or believe
they were real enough to beat Ohio State or oh
Miss a very impressive win over Georgia and in Indiana
in the end, beats Ohio State too, like Miami did,

(26:21):
and they'll face an Oregon team that's good. But they
beat Oregon in Oregon earlier in the season. They're a
lot better today and they're really on a roll. So
I guess my gut is I don't like gambling but
I'm gonna I'm gonna go with I would have to
take ole miss in three and a half points, I
would have to and tomorrow I love Indiana. So that's

(26:43):
cleared up. Glendale State Farm Stadium tonight. This just in
from Red. If you can say hyper homos cystinemia, you
don't have cognitive impairment. Well that's probably true, which means
earlier in the week I was touching go but I'm rallying.
You're starting to let to roll off the tongue. That
sounds hyper homossistant emia? Are you kidding me? I could
be a doctor at least play one on television that

(27:05):
when you're at home, off the air, you just sit
and practice the word the Oh I haven't I should
if I was a professional, I would. I just slowly
got it after you suffering through me doing it wrong.
And then don't you love that? We love John Decker.
Nobody's trying to take a backhand on him. But isn't
that something? What's more? In light of my opening monologue

(27:27):
