Now.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
Enjoy the podcast well two.
Speaker 3 (00:23):
Three starting your morning off right, A new way of talk,
a new way of understanding, because grandness to GiB this
is your morning show with Michael del Jordan.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
You caught that right. We're all in this together. Seven
minutes after the hour, Thanks for waking up with your
morning show. I'm Michael del Jarno on the Aaron streaming
on your iHeartRadio app. On that app, by the way,
you'll see a microphone. That's the talkback button. I'd really
love to know what you thought of the convention last night.
For me, I thought the tone shifted. It started feeling
(01:00):
much more like a partisan traditional convention to me. And
again the things about the assassination attempt played up naturally
on Monday and Tuesday. Kind of this what we talked about.
It's a convention that was forged into excellence, and then
(01:22):
you had the speakers to go with it. So you
had the message sticking to the message, with the right
messengers doing it in a believable way. These amazing everyday
Americans in prime time Trump sitting there, But it didn't
feel last night. It started feeling a little like The Godfather.
He was on a split screen most of the night,
people whispering in his ear.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
The whole thing kind of shifted. And then jd Vance,
I mean, I love the story about his grandmother and
nineteen guns. I mean that had me laughing right out loud.
Actually some people have there was earlier in my Christianity.
That's how people would describe me. This guy loves Jesus
with all his heart, but man, he likes bad words.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
But did it come across a likable guy or like
when you were watching Marco Rubio, Man, that guy's ready
to be president. I'm wondering how you guys are feeling.
And my take is this, It wasn't a bad night.
By any stretch, I don't think it was as good
as Monday and Tuesday, and I think they might want
to be concerned that they watch their tone is starting
to get, you know, the catchphrase lines, you know, are
(02:21):
starting to get a little bit more partisan and negative.
Keep the hope, keep the unity. And my major criticism
would be I think they're taking their eyes off of
we the American people as a whole, and especially the
swing voters and independence out there and talking more to
the convention floor. And that's what makes it feel like
(02:42):
a traditional convention to me. But listen, here's the bottom line.
I do think it's distracted a little bit by other
big stories, the concerning information around the Secret Service that
led to the assassination attempt and the fall of Joe Biden.
I mean, those are once in a decade like stories,
maybe once in a lifetime stories, and they're competing with
(03:06):
the convention, and you know, look at it, at the
end of the day, all the matters is tonight. I've
been to restaurants where the hostess was delightful, the atmosphere
was amazing, the waiter was professional and wonderful, But at
the end of the day, when the steak gets the table.
The stake better be good or I'm not coming back.
The steak is Donald Trump. Tonight Donald Trump has to
(03:29):
close the deal. Tonight's the night a changed Donald Trump
after an assassination attempt, needs to close the deal, that
it's okay to want the better days he provided and
vote for him. We'll see if he does it. I
was sitting here curious if you've never read the book,
and I have. Are we there yet? My Journey from
(03:50):
a Messed Up to a Meaningful Life. It's written by
a comedian, and comedians are funny because they're deep thinkers
and deep feelers. This is an amazing book, especially for
some people who have messed up in life or grew
up in a tough home. He's one of the funniest
comedians I know and one of the dearest friends I have,
Jeff Allen. And you've been called out of the bullpen
to go entertain people at the Republican Convention. Now, I
(04:14):
thanks to you and others and Victoria Jackson, somehow I
ended up doing stand up comedy. That's a tough gig,
and the audience makes all the difference in the world.
What kind of an audience is it had a convention
like that.
Speaker 2 (04:29):
Oh, for my show, it was about nine people. Are
you no, it was? It was It was a small
when you think of the thousands of people around you.
You know. It was at a banquet room at a
hotel for donors. Yeah. Rob Schneider, the comedian, had canceled.
So I was sitting by the pool at West Haven, Tammy,
(04:52):
and I got a text from my manager, you want
to go to the Iron Cego. Of course I do.
Monday night, Tammy, we were sitting around watching television and
she leaned on, wouldn't it be nice to go to
one of these things? And I said, yeah, it would
be great, but I don't think it's going to happen.
And then well and be home. Twenty four hours later,
we're sitting in Milwaukee.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
Man, Now this is your first convention, right, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (05:11):
I did some inaugural galas for I did in the
two thousand and five I think with Bush, and then
I did Trump's twenty sixteen when of his inaugural Galis
got to see the tolerant left burn some limos while
I was in Washington, d.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
It's been an extraordinary Monday and Tuesday were two of
the best convention nights I've ever seen in my life,
and I've seen things from before I was born, and
I think it may have been the most magical two nights.
I don't know if last night lived up to that.
But what's it like being there? I tell you imagine
it's way different.
Speaker 2 (05:45):
Yeah, it was interesting, Like you said, Monday and Tuesday,
there just seemed to be from watching it on television,
a lot more enthusiasm, and then on the floor it's
a lot more solemn with the gold Star families. Yeah.
And then Jadie Vance, I thought last night, watching it live,
I thought there was no red meat in essence, you know,
(06:09):
and it just was a guy who doesn't make his
living speaking at all, you know, just standing up and
telling his life story. And like you said, the nineteen
guns just rocked the place. Oh, you know, the great
But you know again, I didn't. I didn't get the
sense that there was a lot of this the hardcore
(06:31):
meat for the base. I just thought it was just
a pretty average like you said it would. Monday. Tuesday
just seemed like a lot more energy.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
Yeah, And I'm trying to put my finger on if
it's because you know, assassinations, you know, we can count
on one hand in our history, so that that's a
once in a lifetime type of story. The Joe Biden fall,
like LBJ fall, which we've all known is coming and
it's really upon us, right, is a once in a
decade kind of a story. You know, you just have
three huge stories at once. I'll say what I think
(07:04):
you're feeling, which was I knew jd Vance was a
great guy. But by the way, I'm going to pick
out something completely different. There was a moment he doesn't
want you to think about his childhood. He doesn't want
you to think about, you know, his service in the
Marine Corps, or his rise to the United States Senate
or being on a vice presidential ticket. Look, all this
(07:27):
guy wanted to do in life was marry somebody he loved,
stay married, and raise kids. I know, because I'm that boring,
I don't live and die by that. So but but
here's the effect it had. I mean, I was like, oh, man,
that's a brother. Oh man, that'd be a friend of mine.
Oh man, he gets it, you know. So I ended
up with, oh, that's a great guy. I didn't end
(07:47):
up with, oh I can't wait for him to be president.
Someday like I did when Marco Rubia was speaking. So
I'm I'm just curious. I'm not bashing him or bashing
the convector. It just seemed a lot more like a
convention last night Monday Tuesday was an American extraordinary experience
that it could just be that.
Speaker 2 (08:04):
And I also agree with you. When Trump walked in,
it was almost like the Godfather was there, and it
was like, it's an interesting dynamic. I don't think a
president's ever done that.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
Yny No, no, no. Normally, well you they'll make an
early appearance. I think Barack Obama waved on the screen
but wasn't there in person. It's kind of like not
don't dare see the bride before the wedding kind of
a thing. But after an assassination. They did it and
I had and I said, and it worked because it
didn't come across that way like he's there overseeing, you know,
(08:38):
like the furor what they're all saying. It came across
as being about the people, and it pulled off beautifully
Monday and Tuesday. For some reason, I started getting the
ick feeling last night a little bit.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Yeah. I again, one of the things that was really
kind of moving for me was his granddaughter, you know, thinking,
you know, we spent two weeks with our grandchildren, and
I couldn't imagine, you know, my little eleven year old
granddaughters standing on the stage and talking about her pop,
you know. And I really think Trump on the the
red blush got through the orange tan.
Speaker 1 (09:19):
Well, it's funny you say that, because what's memorable. I'll
remember his daughter. I watched the Bush Twins try to
do it and fail. That daughter did it and succeeded.
And quite frankly, I think her father should have just
introduced Jade Vans and walked off the stage. That part
made it awkward. But the daughter, the granddaughter, I'll remember,
(09:41):
Sarah Huckabee Sanders. I will remember that moment because what
they put that woman through. They used to call her fat,
double chin. You know, she's an unfit mother, all these things,
and Donald Trump pulls her side, doesn't come to her
defense and attack anybody, pulls her aside, looks her in
the eye and says, you are smart, you are beautiful,
(10:02):
and you are good at what you do, and that's
why they're coming after you. Keep it up. And that
belief in her at that moment I'm gonna remember that story.
You're right, I'm going to remember the daughter in law.
Believe it or not. I'm not gonna remember Donald Trump
Junior speech at all, but I'm gonna remember a daughter
in law because I know family dynamics, and when she's
telling the story, he saw things in me I didn't
(10:25):
know in myself. Those are powerful stories, and politically, I
don't think anybody's gonna it's gonna be Maybe that's why
we had a lull night so that Donald can shine
a little bit, because I thought Vivick Ramaswami and Marco
Rubio were well. Vivick's was one of the best speeches
since Barack Obama in two thousand and four. And Marco, well,
that's what I've seen in Marco all along. That looks
(10:47):
like somebody that's going to be president some days. So
maybe the lull will be good. It'll help Trump shine tonight.
I don't know, but it felt like a lull to me.
I'm curious what people use the talk back bout and
email me Michael di Adiheartmedia dot Com. And again, no,
I'm not bashing it's still a convention. Monday and Tuesday
was something American extraordinary, and I guess you know you
can only do it. I meny, it's a miracle. He
did it two nights in a row. Quite frankly, they
(11:08):
and they'd be nice if they close strong and uh,
and the meat is going to come to the table.
Speaker 2 (11:13):
Yeah, I'd be very surprised if Trump calls anybody a
name tonight.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
I have one last comedic question, is it, sir? I
have always Look, it's not funny because he's the commander
in chief see the gold Star Parents last night. It's
not funny because he's the president of the United States
and my children's future is in his hands, and he's chosen.
He chose to run. He's choosing not to leave. But
(11:40):
it's got to be a tough call. I'm making fun
of Joe Biden because it's somebody that really belongs in
memory care. I see these people in facilities where my
my mother in law.
Speaker 2 (11:51):
Yeah, I stopped a while ago. I don't. I don't
feel comfortable ticking on that. You know, I do it.
My big joke is my father in law moved in
with me at seventy eight years old, and I said
all he wanted to do was watch gun smoke and
eat ice cream. And at one point I looked at
Joe and thought, you know, he'd be a lot happier
(12:13):
if you just watched gun smoke and eat ice cream.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
Right, Yeah, Well that's what we all want, you know.
Speaker 2 (12:18):
We Yeah, yeah, I can't. I told Tammy if you
ever pulled me out in the public, when I get
like that, I said, I'll come back and on you.
Speaker 1 (12:29):
All right, bottom line, a room full of donors at
a convention with their minds on everything else. But that
make me laugh, funny man while I eat how to Go?
Speaker 2 (12:38):
Yeah, kind of sort of, you know, I kind of
knew that going in, And to be frank with you,
I just have never been to one of these, so
I was gonna do it anyway.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
Well, and you never wrote a book before either, And
look how good that turned out. Are we there yet?
My Journey from a messed up to Meaningful Life? They
can get it at Amazon dot com, or they can
go to your site at Jeff Allencomedy dot com. Real
quickly tell them about the book and why you wrote it.
Speaker 2 (13:05):
I actually wrote it for millennials. It's interesting. Tammy pushed
me for years to write it, and it just seemed
like the right time. My sons are millennials, and I
wanted our story down and I tell the audiences with
all sincerity. You read it so you know, if you
can get through the first six chapters without killing yourself,
it's actually an uplifting teprible but I just wanted people
(13:30):
to know that by every metric the government keeps, our
marriage should not be together. And we're coming up on
our thirty eighth wedding anniversary. Those first seven or eight
years were just an absolute nightmare. I mean I got
sober at thirty one, and it put me on a journey.
They said pray, you know, at the twelve step program,
(13:50):
and I said to wat And it took seven or
eight years before everything seemed to lead to the Bible
in Christ for me, I'll do this real quick at
post five questions that I visit two or three times
a year. What defines me? What do I value? What
are my expectations? What voices do I listen to, which
is a huge one in this culture. And then where's
(14:13):
my hope lie? And if it lies in the next election,
I think we're all in trouble.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
So I will say this, there's two things that always
make me cry I love a good testimony, and I
love a baptism, and your testimony speaks. Your testimony speaks
for itself. It's raw, it's powerful, and I think people
will enjoy the ride as well as cherish the destination.
(14:40):
I cannot recommend more of the book. From one of
the funniest guys on stage. You will ever see a
very serious look at life and what really matters and
the only one that can keep it together and put
it together and bring it meaning. Are we there yet?
My journey from a messed up to meaningful life? Jeff Allen,
who's in Milwaukee trying to make people laugh at a convention.
That's a tough gig. Thanks for joining us, Jeff.
Speaker 2 (15:04):
Michael, let's play some golf.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Oh he always does that, and he is nearly scratch.
And I'm a scratch golfer too. After each swing, I
scratch my head. This is your Morning Show with Michael
del Chona.
Speaker 2 (15:19):
JD.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Vans accepted the nomination for Vice President of the United States,
introduced himself not only do his party, but to America.
Last night tonight, It's Donald Trump's turn to accept the
nomination for President of the United States. Some things to
think about looking at the polls and again, swing states
are going to decide this race, and Arizona Trump leads
by five point seven points. That is a one point
(15:42):
seven point increase since early in June. This is still
a little early to see if there's a spike since
the assassination attempt, but Arizona leaning heavily towards Trump. Trump
is up three point nine points in Georgia, that's significant.
In Michigan up one point three Nevada, Biden won the
(16:05):
state by three points in twenty twenty. The poll show
that Trump would beat him by five points. That's an
eight point flip. Pennsylvania, Trump pulls a four and a
half point lead. Wisconsin, Trump is winning by three points.
So we can go through all of the polling numbers
and they would suggest there's no path forward for Joe Biden.
(16:25):
A landslide is coming, and it's kind of felt that
way emotionally all week long. The other indicators are there's
a brand new AP poll out that shows two thirds
of Democrats are not interested and Joe Biden and are
convinced he can't win. Now. The good news for Joe
Biden is and he might be clinging to this is
they're trying to push him out and he's refusing to go.
(16:47):
Kamala Harris isn't faring much better. So it's almost got
to the point where the fall of Joe Biden has
overshadowed the rise of the RNC this week and the convention,
along with disturbing details in the Secret Service handling up
Saturday's rally that led to an assassination attempt. That's a
lot to cover. Hi, I'm Michael del Jorno and your
(17:07):
morning show can be heard lie as it's happening five
to eight am Central at six to nine Eastern on
great stations like six point twenty WJDX and Jackson, Mississippi,
or AKRONS, News Talk six forty WHLO and Akron, Ohio
and News Radio five seventy WDAK and Columbus, Georgia. I'd
love to be a part of your morning routine, but
we're glad you're here now. Enjoyed the podcast. It's your
(17:30):
morning show. I'm Michael del Jorner. Well, Joe Biden made
it clear in his un news conference if people like
Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer came to him and told
him to step aside, he would entertain it, but they won't. Well,
they just did. He also said, if it looks like
I can't win, if I see that in the polling,
but I don't. Well, the new poll shows two thirds
(17:55):
of Democrats do not want Joe Biden to run for president.
They want him to withdraw. They believe he can't win.
That sharply undercuts his notion that you know, he's going
to be fine and he's got time to turn this around.
And then we just went over the latest polling numbers
that came out and this really doesn't even have the
bump in it from the assassination attempt or the convention,
(18:17):
but Donald Trump leading handily in all six of the
swing states, So it almost is waking up. You know,
there's there's a bit of focus on the Secret Service
and the findings that are kind of leaking out and
the lack of transparency and investigations that are ongoing. That's
a big story. The fall of Joe Biden. That's a
big story. And in some ways you wondered, did that
(18:37):
overshadow the third night of the convention itself your morning
show Roory O'Neil in Milwaukee joining us. Well, you wouldn't know,
because you were there, right.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
Well, my favorite line of the day is from punch
Bowl News. It talks about the Democrats actually and Joe
Biden being diagnosed with COVID is probably the best thing
that happened to Joe Biden in the last twenty four hours.
Speaker 1 (19:01):
Actually, I think the line of the night is this this.
You know, hard for me to make the sound of
the day CNN and Van Jones, but this really kind
of nails it.
Speaker 5 (19:13):
A bullet couldn't stop Trump, a virus just stopped Biden.
You've got the nominees of this party getting their butts kissed.
Speaker 1 (19:24):
Biden's getting his butt kicked. I mean, you know, parties
at the end of the day, Rory. But what makes
this so right? I can't believe I'm agreeing with Van Jelts.
But what makes this so right is these conventions are
all about unity. They arrived unified, so it became about
unifying the country, which Monday and Tuesday they did well.
I don't think so well last night, But I mean
(19:46):
it's all about unity heading into the general. Their parties
completely divided, the Republicans are completely united. A bullet didn't
stop Trump, and a virus just sent Joe back to Delaware.
I mean that Joe hours away, days away from leaving
the race. What are your thoughts?
Speaker 4 (20:03):
Yeah, the pendulum keeps swinging back and forth in my mind.
You know, I keep saying, you know, here you have
some trying to have an early vote to get him
the nomination secured online essentially before the convention, so that
it shuts down all this talk. But at the same time,
when you've got Pelosi and Schumer and Hawk Kim Jeffrey
is all knocking on his door saying, Joe, the numbers
(20:25):
don't work. Yeah, that does bring this crisis moment for
the Democrats to the to the front of the table.
But I'm also a little bit skeptical because it's all
the talk then of well, it's going to be Kamala Harris,
and you're like, oh, I'm not sure how a lot
of other Democrats are going to feel about that choice.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
Well, isn't that the big shift that the news is
telling us today that the Biden has kind of indicated, Well,
how's how does Kamala look? Can Kamala win? As if
now for all the things we've heard, and it's it's
been a big pendulum, you know, well, they can't but
they won't if the polls show but they won't. If
if Democrats don't want me to run, but they won't, well,
that's kind of all falling apart. And now it seems
(21:04):
to be focused on can you prove to me Kamala
can win? And the answer is they can't take that right.
You know, paul I was just doing she doesn't fare
much better, so well he cling to that and not
go away. It's kind of like the movie Dave, and
you know, at the in the end, Kevin Klein was
the only one decided to, you know, stage the death
at the State of the Union address and end the
whole charade. But it's Biden's to end. And if that's
(21:28):
what I'm reading, that's what he needs to be convinced,
and you're not gonna be able to convince him of that.
That's the only vote for not going Everything else points
to he's going out the door one way or another. Yeah,
which is again just a remarkable turn in history.
Speaker 4 (21:41):
And this We've had a decade of news this week,
so it's just been so hard to try to keep up.
But yeah, it's a monumental decision facing the president now
about his own political future. And again every light is
flashing red and there is no green light ahead of him,
but he's continuing to charge on, plow on.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
I shouldn't use the word charge, stumble on.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
And it's it's remarkable to see this unfold while a
lot of frustrated Democrats are on the sideline.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Roy O'Neil in Milwaukee covering the convention. You know, it's
funny you say that, I don't know if it's the polls,
if it's they're the ones that keep pushing them out.
You know, they hit him in a basement, that's how
they won in twenty twenty. Well, the debate revealed that.
But you didn't have to put him on with Stephanopoulis.
You didn't have to put him on with Lester Hold,
you didn't have to put him on Beet, you didn't
have to have a news conference after the union. And
(22:33):
he's failed every one of those. It's as if they're
wanting him to fail. And I just wonder if part
of their strategy could be try to overshadow the RNC
convention with all this drama of this. You know, it's
almost looking that out of control, that it's almost looking deliberate.
Speaker 4 (22:51):
Well but it's also it's snowballs, right, I mean, this
is what happens when you get one little tip of
the and then it starts and downhill.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
And that's what we're seeing here, is the snowball effect.
Speaker 4 (23:03):
And it's also depending on the calendar of Congress, when
they're in session, when they're in DC, when they can
talk to reporters.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
Now you've got this convention.
Speaker 4 (23:10):
The Republicans have been incredibly quiet about Joe Biden's for
the most part, and their political problems for the most part.
And we're just watching the Democrats form that circular firing
squad and it's just unfolding before our eyes.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
It's remarkable reaction to jd Vance's speech. D B plus.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
I mean, but you know what, here's the thing. I
kind of knew going in, and I left going I mean,
he started telling the story about the grandmother I loved,
and right, you know her follow language, but love Jesus,
I mean all that, and then the nineteen guns. I
knew he was a great guy and the speech was
a great guy. I didn't leave thinking I can't wait
for him to be a president. Marco Rubio finished, I said,
(23:54):
I can't wait for him to be president. So I
don't know how that went. That's just me. But let's
face it, at the end of the day, I use
this analogy of restaurant hostess can be wonderful, atmosphere can
be terrific, the linen's perfect, the you know, the dish
is great, the waiter professional, but when the steake arrives,
if it's not good, I'm never coming back.
Speaker 4 (24:10):
So it's all about Donald Trump tonight. Yeah, absolutely, And
really you don't even have to. We want to hear
what he.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Has to say about what happened Saturday.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
You know, the rest of the speech I think is
going to be what you'd expect, but you know, the
final takeaway is going to be his first comments about
what happened Saturday. And then we watched the balloons fall.
So as long as gravity remains, I think he can
he'll do well going into tonight. Do we have one minute?
Speaker 2 (24:37):
Sure?
Speaker 1 (24:37):
Okay?
Speaker 2 (24:38):
You well?
Speaker 1 (24:39):
For me, of course, I saw a shift in tone
and a shift and focus last night. The focus turned
more towards the audience and the delegates and started feeling
like a typical RNC. That's troubling to me. Donald Trump
needs to come out. I want to see the changed
man from the near death experience. I want to see
(25:00):
somebody that knows he's going to win, and now he
doesn't have to raw raw me. He needs to close
the deal that it's okay to vote for him and
return to the policies that work in a uniting tone.
I hope he doesn't take the bait of the shift
of last night. I hope he shifts back towards Monday
and Tuesday's tone, And that may be by design so
(25:21):
that it stands out tonight, but I think Downtrump's talking
to America, not Republicans. I really want.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
To see a copy of the speech as it was
prepared Friday and the one that's being delivered tonight.
Speaker 1 (25:34):
I hope the ones tonight is the same one that
was rewritten Monday.
Speaker 4 (25:37):
Is what I'm saying, Well, well, I'm saying that I
want to see what he was going to say and
then what he does say, because what you and see
how Saturday changed things, if at all. He's claimed that
he threw the speech out after Saturday's attack, So I
want to see what he thought he was going to
say and what he ends up saying, and see what
that messaging is because I think, as you just laid
(25:59):
out with all those wholes, you get to rise above
it all now and right and be that unifying figure.
So long as it looks like your cruising to this
solid victory.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
I think the tone needs to be hope, and I
need to I think the focus needs to be on
the American people, not just the Republican Party. And I
think that at some point Donald Trump would help himself
if hetures look the camera in the eye and said,
I'm not evil, I'm not a tyrant, I'm not an insurrectionist.
I'm not going to be a dictator. I'm going to
make America great and hand it off to the next generation.
(26:31):
I mean something like that to close that deal. Because
all they have flawlessly woven in all week long, these
messages of it's okay to not like him, and it's
okay to want to return to the prosperity and security
he created. I think that needs to be a big
part of it too. But why know, I'm just a
talk show host. You're Royal, O'Neal, You're the big deal.
All right, Well, we'll talk a little bit about last night,
(26:53):
and then I want to talk to you next hour.
About these distractions. From a news perspective, these are three
once in a decade stories, and they're happening simultaneously, and
I'm wondering what the effect of that is. We'll kick
that around next hour when you return. All right, if
you're just waking up, I think you know what the
top story is is now the next morning. So really
(27:16):
the top story is Donald Trump. It's that's the nomination
for President of the United States tonight. But prior to
that thought is Trump has Vance officially and Biden has
covid officially. Brian Shooks here with our Road to the
White House.
Speaker 6 (27:29):
Road to the White House. Twenty twenty four. Ohio Senator JD.
Vance officially accepted the nomination for Vice President Wednesday night
at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
And I'm overwhelmed with.
Speaker 4 (27:42):
Gratitude to say I officially accept your nomination to be
Vice President of the United.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
States of America.
Speaker 6 (27:51):
The nation's first Millennial Party nominee, formally introduced himself to
the voting public, touching on his humble beginnings, his journey
to become an Ohio senator and now VP nominee. Meantime,
President Biden has tested positive for COVID nineteen. The White
House says Biden tested positive following an event in Las Vegas.
(28:11):
In Washington. I'm Brian Shook.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
More reports about the Secret Service protection of Donald Trump's
Pennsylvania reality is coming out. Senator John Barrosso of Wyoming
had this to say.
Speaker 6 (28:21):
The shooter has been identified an hour before the shooting
occurred as a suspicious.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
Person, and then they lost track of him. They lost
sight of him.
Speaker 6 (28:31):
He had a rangefinder, he had a backpack, the kind
of things that would be suspicious to anyone.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
Drip drip, drip. The news and the details get worse
and worse. There's no question about it. But the transparency,
the accountability, and the answers to clear questions, they're hard
to find. And that boiled over on the convention floor
when two GOP senators confronted the Secret Service Director, Kimberly Cheatle.
(28:58):
It was again Senator Barosso with Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn.
Speaker 3 (29:09):
You all answered.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
The confrontation started at the R and C floor, made
its way up an escalator to where her and some
agents hit in a small room. Her only comment was,
this is not the time or place for these questions.
Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is reportedly told President Biden
in private, don't you love stories like that? In a
secret private meeting, CNN reports during a recent conversation, Yeah, look,
(29:36):
there's no question the DNC is trying to move ahead
with the early nominating process. Virtually the party elites and
leaders and media are trying to push him out ahead
of time. That's a whole other side battle. But to
add to the drip drip drip, and the push push push,
A King Jeffreys Chucky Schumer both told him, you can't win,
(29:58):
you need to drop out. We all got a sense
Nancy Pelosi was the voice that matters most to him. Well,
she's come out and said you can't win, you will lose,
and you will ruin our chances of winning the House
if you continue on. These are all the things that
Joe Biden said he would leave if it happened. But
it won't. The problem is it just did. Oh and
(30:23):
Biden is now tested positive for COVID nineteen and is
headed back to Delaware, which led to our Sound of
the Day, Van Jones pretty much summing it up this way,
a bullet couldn't stop Trump. A virus just stopped Biden. Yeah,
Special counsel Jack Smith. We knew he was going to
(30:45):
appeal again. Everything has failed, right, impeachments, insurrection, lawfare, debates,
A special counsel Jack Smith is going to appeal. So
the former President Trump's federal case over handling of classified documents.
Lisa Taylor has her final story.
Speaker 7 (31:05):
His team filed a notice of appeal Wednesday, well before
the thirty day deadline. Judge Alien Cannon toss the case Monday.
The Eleventh US Circuit Court of Appeals, based in Atlanta,
will review the judge's ruling. The dismissal marked another major
legal victory for Trump, following the Supreme Court's ruling on
presidential immunity last month. I'm Lisa Taylor.
Speaker 1 (31:26):
I'm Jeff Eddie with Efficient Heating and Cooling. My morning
show is your Morning Show with Michael Jie Lornan. All right,
here's the bottom line. Fifty four minutes after the hour,
is Donald Trump going to be taking on Joe Biden.
There was a discernment feeling I had watching Joe Biden
(31:46):
slowly walk up the short steps a bear force one,
that that was the end of his candidacy, not a
return to Delaware for COVID. I think it's over. It
just has to be. I mean, remember the nineteen sixty
eight correlation with twenty twenty four. They can't you can't
(32:10):
even host a convention a month from now in this condition.
You couldn't even begin to put on the charade you
could even go through the motions of a convention trying
to unite a party behind this ticket. Now the key is,
and I think this is something Donald Trump ought to
close the deal on tonight. This isn't a Joe Biden failure.
(32:34):
This is a worldview policy failure. That's what created the
open border. That's what created the inflation, that's what created
the high energy cost, that's what's created the wars. But
the question of the hour is is Joe Biden going
to go? They're his delegates. If he does the opposite
(32:56):
of the movie Dave and refuses to go, what an
awkward convention is coming in a month. But right now,
what you're seeing is this is a party whose narrative
has been all about democracy. Well, democracy, says the Democrat
voters throughout the year gave him the nomination. Now you're
going to take it away short of the twenty fifth Amendment.
(33:20):
Now they've got weeks to do the twenty fifth Amendment.
That may be where they go next. He's not taking
any subtle hints. But now Nancy showed him the door,
Schumer showed him the door, Jeffrey showed him the door.
The media is showing him the door. But only he
can go out it. I think he's going to and
(33:42):
careful if you don't close the deal. That It isn't
Joe Biden's cognitive disabilities that have created the border crisis,
the fentinyl crisis, high insurance, high inflation, high interest rates,
high debt, emboldened digressors from terrorist organizations to terrorist nations,
(34:07):
to Russia to China. It's their worldview and policy views. Otherwise,
they're just going to change the face. And they got
a month to build some excitement and then they've got
a party week long, national televised free pr to sell it.
(34:34):
I wish I had an answer beyond that. That's the
big question mark that I think for Donald Trump. He
needs to talk to America tonight, not just the Republican Party.
We're all in this together. This is your Morning Show
with Michael Hill Choano
