Speaker 1 (00:01):
Recorded live at the iHeart Studios in Philadelphia's APPI Markets.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
It's serving Surregia.

Speaker 3 (00:07):
Now here's rage Andrew atheists a name that no one
will ever forget.

Speaker 4 (00:13):
Yeah, I hope I don't forget.

Speaker 2 (00:14):
I will never let.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Anyone forget it because you are a well first off,
a natural born star. Back to our middle school a
cappella days. Okay, yeah, but I will say this, I
selfishly know and love you from those days and now
I have to share you with the world for being
a piece of grass at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Speaker 4 (00:31):
Grass B ninety three, B Night. What is Oh?

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Is that your Nate?

Speaker 1 (00:35):
That was my designation. I was Pod B spot ninety three,
Grass B ninety three man.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
So they never actually just called you Andrew.

Speaker 4 (00:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
No, In our little earpieces, they're not like Andrew stopped moving.
It's like grass B ninety three, you need to be
grass here?

Speaker 3 (00:47):
No way, is that actually what you would hear? You
all had individual earper Yeah, we all.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Had like like a FM radio that was packed and
we could hear just about everything that was happening throughout
the whole Super Bowl day. So if they ever had
to like talk to us or or tell us to
move or hot move. It would basically be in our
ear the whole time.

Speaker 2 (01:04):
And you would hear every time they would yell at
somebody that wasn't you.

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Yeah, I mean even at rehearsals, like when they're trying
to get the dancers to do stuff.

Speaker 4 (01:10):
You just hear like right back up.

Speaker 2 (01:12):
Shake, pivot, pivot not pivot pivot shake. We have so
much to talk about. I really need to know.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
And you know what the best part about all of
this is that I know you're gonna spill that tea.

Speaker 4 (01:20):
Yeah, let me see is the tea is hot and cold.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
I love it.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
Okay, So let me just preface for everyone who is
from the Tri State area why this is so.

Speaker 2 (01:27):
Special for us.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
Andrew is a Cherry Hill native, which makes us so
much more exciting. You're an Eagles fan, so what made
you to decide to be a part of the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (01:37):
Halftime show for the Seahawks versus Patriots?

Speaker 1 (01:39):
Because I thought it was going to be Eagles versus Patriots,
but you're convinced the Eagles decided they didn't want to go,
so I had to go in their place.

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Yes, you did.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yeah, but there was an open casting call and you know,
I like to think that Bad Bunny called me on
my personal cell phone and said, hey, I need you
to come be goodrass for me. But there was just
an open casting call to be in the Bad Bunny
halftime show. They didn't say what you were going to be.
They just said you had to be five seven and
six foot in between that somewhat athletics, somewhat of marching
band experience.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
And how tall are you for the ladies, I am
five nine and a.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
Third take that third, honey, yeahah okay, anyway, it was.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Enough to get me into the Bad Bunny halftime show.

Speaker 3 (02:18):
Wow, okay, first question I need to know, did you
have to sign an NDA?

Speaker 4 (02:22):
I did? I did.

Speaker 1 (02:23):
And there were people that got let go because they
were sharing stuff on TikTok about either the rehearsal or
even leaked images and videos or even just like basic
information that they were going to be grassed. So if
you were on TikTok for like the five ten minutes
that someone posted stuff, you got to see the halftime
show before the halftime show.

Speaker 4 (02:43):
So they let those people go.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
I mean naturally, So that's literally the whole concept of
an NDA. With that said, are you still upheld by,
said Nda.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
I'm pretty sure I'm all cleared because they said that
once this is all done, you're clear to share everything
on all your socials.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
See that makes it so much more interesting.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
So me and my big mouth are wide open.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
Well, it's been open. You've been on what like CBS Philadelphia.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
I've been internationally acclaimed at this point.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
And you got off the plane what how many hours ago?

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Na, this morning? I landed at like nine pm midnight
sometime around there.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
Man, I thought, I like jumped on the beat to this.
As soon as I saw you the picture of you.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Yeah, I was like, that has to be AI unless
that is actually my andrew a.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Theatype Just a.

Speaker 3 (03:26):
Wait, I am so excited it's not AI and this
is like a real thing. So now we can get
all the behind the scenes action. Yeah, let's start at
the beginning. No, NDA's first things first, what made you
want to do this? How did you find this open
casting call?

Speaker 1 (03:39):
I mean there was someone that talked about this for
last year's Kendrick Lamar show that they were, you know,
an extra in the background, and there was a company
called Backlit that.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
You know, they applied through.

Speaker 1 (03:49):
Okay, so I remembered that when Bad Bunny was announced
at the Super Bowl halftime show.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
So you did know Bad Bunny was performing when you
signed up?

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Yeah, ok yeah, And it was kind of the main
reason why was gonna do it. Was like for anyone
else I probably wouldn't have flown to San Francisco for
but for Bad Bunny.

Speaker 2 (04:04):
Yeah okay, so you're a stand yeah, yeah, right.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
To do it.

Speaker 1 (04:08):
So what happened was is that I filled it out
and it was one of those things where I was like,
I'm probably not gonna get it because you know everyone's
gonna want.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
To do this role says you're five nine and three
cos yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
And it turns out like it was the Thursday, right
before we had that big snowstorm in Philly that I
finally got the email that says, congratulations, you're gonna go
be in the halftime show.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Rehearsals on Monday.

Speaker 2 (04:31):
But you didn't know what for?

Speaker 1 (04:32):
No, Yeah, I just knew that I was gonna be involved.
I had no idea what my role was gonna be.
I was joking with some family and friends that like,
I don't care if I have to be grass or
a tree, like third grade play all over again just
to be with bad Bunny. So I need to play
the lottery.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
I literally just saw a meme that said I found
my future career, and my third grade like plays came
to reality.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
Shout out.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Shout out to anybody who had to play a tree
because they ran out of positions for you in your.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
School prom dreaming. Okay, wait to the point of you
not knowing what you signed up for. I want everyone
to know that you could actually dance if they asked.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, But even in the application they made
it clear in bold, like this is not a dancing position.

Speaker 2 (05:12):
Okay, so you at least knew that.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
Yeah, so I knew that whatever it was, I was
just gonna be standing still or be somewhat in the vicinity.
But once the second or third rehearsal happened and they
came out with like the full grass.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
Suit, We're like, oh, that's what we're gonna be.

Speaker 1 (05:28):
I see now why they wanted us to be a
certain height and to be comfortable wearing a forty five
pound costume, because that is ridiculous.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
Yeah, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (05:36):
Okay, so you saw these things for the first time,
What does it feel like in there?

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Is it like real grass.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
It's not real grass. It's all from Michael's.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
I mean it looks pretty legit.

Speaker 1 (05:46):
They the costume and wardrobe team did a phenomenal job.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
You can hear it, but I know, I don't. I
don't know if you can hear the blades rustling.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
Und you were allergic to grass?

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Yeah, I mean when the first time we saw it
we thought it was real grass.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
How good of a job they did in the full suit.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
That should have been a question on the application, not
for nothing.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
Yeah, there's like.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Are you allergicic grass? Like how much benderyl do you
take during the springtime? Yeah, but no, it's it's all
padded like there's enough, you know, comfortable stuff and the
war shout out to the wardrobe team because they made
so many altercations to like all the suits, uh huh
where they were like, hey, if it's uncomfortable, if there's
anything they need to shorten or change, Like they were

(06:28):
on it.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
What do you like trim it?

Speaker 4 (06:29):
Yeah? Yeah they were.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
They were mowing our lawn literally, like there would be
like in rehearsal, will bring somebody backstage and like they'll
just be snipping some blades off to.

Speaker 4 (06:37):
Make it more comfortable for everybody to wear. And you
know what the.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Best part about all of this is is that you
brought it.

Speaker 4 (06:42):
Yeah, yeah, it's here. It's it's I'm all all grassed up.

Speaker 5 (06:46):
You've been tackling all of these interviews in a matter
of five hours of being off the plane.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
In well, I mean, did they send you off with
the entire costume so.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
They wouldn't let us take everything?

Speaker 1 (06:56):
And honestly, I don't think I wanted to take everything
because you sticking that in my fifty pounds bags?

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Do you even get that on the plane?

Speaker 1 (07:03):
I put this in a little bag and I was
just walking around the airport, like I just got out
the plant store, and people in the airport were like, hey.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Were you in the halftime show.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
I'm like, yeah, that's that's why I'm randomly carrying grass around.

Speaker 4 (07:15):
That's exactly why I was in it.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Dude, you're famous. At the airport, people are like that
guy was in the superl I almost.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
Missed my flight because there were so many people that
wanted to like take pictures and like, you know, talk.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
To me about the equivalent of picking up the confetti
that goes off. Yeah, when someone like your team wins.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
Yeah no, but I am literally the confetti, like I'm
just walking confetti and everyone was just like trying to
stop and take pictures, even TSA like before they took
my passport because I don't have a real idea yet, they.

Speaker 4 (07:39):
Were like, were you in the Super Hot Time Show?

Speaker 1 (07:40):
And I was like, yeah, it's like I can't take
a picture of you, but like if you stand like
right here in this camera like whatever the camera is
that they scanned their face, They're like, can you just
put the grass up there? And I was like, I guess,
I don't know if that's legal or not.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Wait, did they have to like inspect your grass?

Speaker 1 (07:52):
And they were making sure that it wasn't real grass
and make sure that it wasn't Like.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
They didn't let you take it.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
I would have been so I know they they almost
didn't because they were like is that real grass. I'm like, no,
it's fake grass. It's all for Michael's and they're like, okay,
you're good to go.

Speaker 3 (08:05):
Oh my god, Okay, well, let me just tell you.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, for those of
us that were not so blessed to be on the
field during the Super Bowl, halftime show. Yeah, the reality
of seeing in well in real time on social media.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
Yeah, that you guys were people.

Speaker 3 (08:20):
Yeah, Like we thought it was a set and then
all of a sudden, the first like behind the scenes
clip post and my.

Speaker 2 (08:26):
Friend turned the camera around, she goes, those.

Speaker 5 (08:28):
Grass blades were people, and we're watching and we're like,
what the hell watching y'all scurry off the insanity.

Speaker 1 (08:34):
Yeah, I mean we were literally told do not move,
and they made sure that the grass was hiding our
faces so that way we couldn't be seen. And I
watched the production. Had I not known I was in it,
I would have known that they were people either. So
that was kind of the whole point. But you got
to remember that there's hundreds of thousands of people in
the stands that have cameras filming us going in and

(08:55):
out the field and onto the you know, not even
end off the field on the stadiums right right, and
they're just like, what are these grass bushes that are
walking around? And then the whole production people's like, oh,
you guys are about to become a meme.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
No, literally, and they probably knew from the jump that
you guys were like the butt of a joke.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Yeah, not even the butt of the joke. We are
the whole head of a joke, the head, the arms.

Speaker 2 (09:15):
Shoulders, these and toes right, holy crap. Okay, that was
my other question too, like could you dance? How do
you not dance to bad Bunny?

Speaker 1 (09:22):
So we were told like remember in the Barbie movie
where Ken was like, my job is just beach, Like
my job was just grass and like they I was
in rehearsals for two weeks listening to the set over
and over again. Huh and like I was like, I'm
gonna be so still, like I'm not gonna move a muscle.
And then game day goes on and I look at

(09:43):
the final video of the whole concert and I could
see myself in the skyview doing a little shitty and
I'm like.

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Oh, no, I moved. I thought I was standing so
sil but all time out my body was moving.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
You can see yourself? How do you even pick yourself out?

Speaker 3 (09:56):
I was cracking up because when I texted you, I
was like, Andrew, this is ai. I know you're not
a piece of gras, and you sent me back the
picture of you next to I believe it is like
the pink.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Casita That's how I knew where I was, because that's
it's very easy to pick that spot out.

Speaker 3 (10:09):
Andrew literally sent me a picture of him standing next
to that pink house and it circled a blade of grass,
and he goes, that's me, and I'm like, how the
frick do you know my guy?

Speaker 2 (10:18):
Are you serious?

Speaker 4 (10:19):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (10:19):
Because you you you stand in that same position every
day for the rehearsal, So like I knew. And what's
crazy is like, during rehearsal, I didn't know all the
celebrities and all the special guests that were gonna be there.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Like they didn't tell you.

Speaker 1 (10:33):
They didn't tell because in our ear pieces, you know,
the first practice that Bad Bunny was there. They were like, yeah,
we're gonna have a singer sing a lot of the
songs today, and was like, yeah, we know bad Bunny, Yeah,
bad Bunny because during the first rehearsals, we had a
bad Bunny stand in because mister Bad Bunny was in
LA winning.

Speaker 4 (10:52):
Awards, you know, just a Grammy, Yeah, just a Grammy
for you know, Album of the Year.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
But the stand in looked like bad Bunny and we
kept calling him good Rabbit because we're like, that's not
bad Bunny that's his that's the temu.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
The tau replaced it.

Speaker 2 (11:06):
Did good Rabbit sing too?

Speaker 1 (11:07):
No, he just kind of mouthed the lyrics that were
like in our ear piece, I love that job.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
Yeah, bad Bunnies backup.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
But like, what was crazy is that the week of
the Super Bowl when we had those practices, on like
the Wednesday, while I'm like waddling to my little spot,
I walked past this very small lady in a black
sweatshirt and a microphone. I thought she was like one
of the managing director people. Sure, And in our ear
pieces they were like, yeah, we're gonna have another singer

(11:36):
sing a part today, so just hold and then we're
listening to it and like this sounds like that one
Bruno Mars Lady Go Goat song with like a Spanish background.
And then I look around. I'm like, oh, because that's
Lady Goga. That's why it sounds like Lady go Go
standing right next to you, not next to me, but
like behind me in the in the back of the house.
Because I couldn't see like wherever I was standing, like,

(11:58):
I couldn't move, so all I heard was just what
I was hearing, and this.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Is when you were in said grass, Yeah, okay, got it.

Speaker 1 (12:04):
So you know, on that Wednesday, I was like, oh, so,
Lady Gaga's going to be in this. That's cool, and
like I.

Speaker 2 (12:09):
Can't and you can't react, yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Yeah, because you know, you're supposed to practice as if
you're gonna be on the field. And then later after
they're like, yea, we're gonna have one more singer singing
at these end part, and I was hearing a guy
singing Spanish. I was like, I don't know who that is.
It must be some Spanish singer that like I don't
know off the top of my head.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
And it wasn't until.

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Literally the day of that we found out that it
was Ricky Martin.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Because you never saw him in the flesh until the show.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
Yeah, I never saw Ricky until like literally game day.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
No.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
But what's even crazier is that during all the rehearsals,
like in the kasasita, like in front of the house,
it was the dancers like doing all the movements and stuff,
so they had dancers standing there. And when I was
going onto the field during game day, like through the bushes.

Speaker 4 (12:51):
Because I can't really see with this grass in my face.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
I noticed that the people in front of the house,
I'm like, they look a little more expensive than the
dancers that were there.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
But again I'm focused. I'm grass.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
I gotta go in to Grassgod, right now, I can't
focus on anything else.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Wait, so you really couldn't clock who it was.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
No, it wasn't until like we're on the bus after
the game heading back to like our secret location where
we got picked up that they were like, yeah, like
Cardi B and you know, Pedro Pascal and Young Miko
and you know Jessica Alba were there. And I was like, yeah,
I'm sure they were. It's the Super Bowl. There's somewhere
in the stands. Like, No, they were in front of
the Pink House. And I was like, what do you mean?

(13:27):
They were front of the Pink House, from the Pink
House that I was sitting next to. That's what those
expensive people were. I thought those were the dancers.

Speaker 2 (13:33):
You were a breath away from Cardi B.

Speaker 1 (13:34):
I was not a I was a blade of grass
away from Cardi B. Cardi B probably saw me wall
passer and go look at the grass, like that's probably
what exactly what happened.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
Oh my god, And that's kind of like a bummer,
Like I mean, like, okay, I'm sure this is probably private,
but I have to ask, like, did they pay you
guys to do this?

Speaker 4 (13:53):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (13:53):
We got We got paid, Like California minimum wage was
is like eighteen seventy an hour if rich, Yeah, if you,
if you add up like all the practice hours and
game day at a bag, it was probably north of
like a thousand dollars that we got.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Still, so epically, a lot of people would probably do
that for the experience.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
I was doing it because I thought it.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
Was an experience.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
I didn't know we were getting paid until like the
second rehearsal They're like, oh, yeah, your first checks are
coming next week.

Speaker 4 (14:21):
I was like, what checks.

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Yeah, I'm here for the fun.

Speaker 3 (14:24):
That's amazing, Okay, but I would want to walk away
with like a little perk. So I'm at least glad
you got your souvenir. Yeah, so I'm glad you got
your grass.

Speaker 4 (14:31):
Oh yeah, I mean I got a whole bunch of
other stuff.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
But like my perk outside of wanting to like get
paid of course, like let me get a little pick
with Alex Earyl please.

Speaker 4 (14:39):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
I mean I again, I didn't know any of these
celebrities were there yeuntil we were already on the bus
heading back.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
So I guess you have to keep like a little
bit of decorum because at that at that point, I
guess you're I mean pun intended, literally on the same
playing field. Literally, So you're all doing a job, which
is to be a part of Bad Bunny Show.

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Yeah, And they said that like they're like, your job
here to be professional, Like you know, you're going to
be surrounded by celebrities and you know you can't. You
can't like freak out and you know, ask them for
autographs and what I was like, yeah, sure, that's fine,
I get it. But what's crazy is if you look
at the whole field. You know, we have grass all
over the place. So we're all trading stories about like, hey,
who did you run into? Like you and this one

(15:16):
girl on the far other side was like, yeah, the
the quarterback, the really good looking quarterback, Jalen Hurts. Like
I don't know if you said really good looking quarterback.
It's like yeah, pa egos all like guess Jalen Hurts. Yeah,
so she got to like run past Jalen Hurts and
she's like running off the field.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Now, my toxic trade.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
I would be like, hey, Jalen, yeah, exactly, exactly do that.

Speaker 1 (15:37):
Well, when we're running off the field, like we we
were allowed to remove our stuff and like you know,
try to see where we're going, uh, to not trip
over any cables.

Speaker 4 (15:45):
But yeah, some people got to run into Jalen hurts.

Speaker 1 (15:47):
Uh. Some people got to run into John ham or
in Espanilo they call him John Harmon h. So you know,
when you're running off to the sidelines, you know there's
a whole bunch of celebrities that you're you know, gonna.

Speaker 2 (15:59):
Pass Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (16:00):
Oh my god, Okay, do you have any really cool takeaways?

Speaker 2 (16:04):
Like did you have?

Speaker 3 (16:05):
I guess I saw alex Earls in or TikTok and
she's literally like using one of the blades of grass
as like look at this walking with them, and I'm like,
I wonder if that's Andrew walking with alex al Yeah.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
No, you know it's funny that like a lot of
our grass blades are like falling off of us, like
as we're like walking in and out of the fields.
So there's so many people that like left with blades
of grass. Sure you can see peoples like I gotta
play a grass. I gotta play a grass.

Speaker 4 (16:29):
Like it's like a bitcoin or something.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
But yeah, no, I mean it's just cool to see
a super Bowl get set up from behind the scenes,
like Philly will never host a super Bowl because it's
too cold and we don't have a dome, but like
seeing the production that goes into making sure everything is
perfect right, not making sure everything's right, making sure you're good,
making sure everything is perfect. And there's so many media

(16:53):
crews and audio people and video people and wardrobe people
and managers and just so many people involved to just
make sure that you know, we're doing everything we can
to put on the best show imaginable, even if it
means you're being a blade of grass.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
No, but you know what, there was so much significance
behind being that blade of grass, I'm sure, and I
don't know if you guys got back end stories about
how important your role was, but on the receiving end
as a viewer, and you don't have to know a
lick of Spanish to be able to take away from
the storyline that of which was bad Bunny super Bowl
halftime shape performance.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
Yeah, but even for somebody.

Speaker 3 (17:24):
Who isn't Latino, I was like emotional because I'm as
an Italian, like I'm latching onto like references like the
little kids sleeping on the chair during the wedding.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
I was like, I live that.

Speaker 4 (17:35):
Yeah, I was the wedding.

Speaker 2 (17:37):
So I think we all have culture.

Speaker 3 (17:38):
And the best part of Bad Bunny's performance was the
inclusion that he created, and I think that very much
does include you as a blade of grass. And now
I don't know if there was a significance behind it genuinely,
but it looked to me like it was supposed to
represent Puerto Rico in some way.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
Yeah, I mean there we were told this like an
hour before we went onto the field during game day,
that from the creative director that like worked with Bad
Bunny to like put this whole thing together.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
Said what did she say?

Speaker 1 (18:02):
She said that this was supposed to be a field
of dreams that you know Bad Bunny ten years ago,
which is Benito Antonio Martinez o Cassio, you know, bagging groceries.
And now ten years later, he's at his second Super Bowl,
headlining for the first time, winning Grammys, and it's all
because he followed his dreams and even though he was

(18:23):
just some kid in Puerto Rico, a small little island
off the coast of the United States, which is part
of the United States. You know, he was able to
make his dreams come true. And his real dream was
to bring Puerto Rico to the world. Yes, and that's
what he did. Like if you listen to Bad Bunny's music,
even if you don't understand Spanish, it makes you want
to get up, dance, groove and vibe. But if you

(18:45):
listen to the words, if you go and Google translate
and just put everything into you know, the translation, it
makes you want to cry because it's so beautiful, the
tragedies and duality of Puerto Rico. It's beautiful. But there's
so many problems, that power outages, the hurricanes. But you know,
I'm the son of an immigrant from Jamaica. And the
thing about US island folk is that you can't hold

(19:06):
us down. You can you can send hurricanes, you can
send natural disasters, you could send whatever you want to
our little island. We will persevere and overcome. And that's
the testament of like who Bad Bunny is. And you
were talking about inclusion, Yeah, it didn't matter if you
are Latino, Latina, from Italy, from the midwest of the
United States, like there was something in that halftime show

(19:28):
that you could have.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
Related twenty ten percent. You just said that absolutely perfectly.
And I for all the people that have the argument, like, well,
I didn't understand one word it needed to be in English. Hello,
we all grew up on the mantra like a picture's
worth a thousand words. So now all of a sudden
we forgot about that because to me, I understood it
perfectly and not even at all at the same time,
you know what I mean, even.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
If you don't understand what Bad Bunny's saying, you can
understand what Bad Bunny's saying it.

Speaker 4 (19:52):
And also Google Translate is free.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
Thank you. And also I'm sorry, swifties.

Speaker 3 (19:57):
We love riddles, so let's like piece together all of
those lyrics to those Bad Bunny songs, translate them, and
then apply it while watching the show again and again
and again because I've had it on repeat. Yeah, and
I think that like really makes the riddle come to
life of seeing like, oh, now this makes more sense
even though it already made sense to me.

Speaker 2 (20:14):
Now teach yourselves something.

Speaker 1 (20:15):
Yeah, I mean, there's there's songs that come out on
the radio today in English that I still don't know
the words too. Michael Jackson performed at the halftime show
years ago. I still don't know if I'm saying mama, say,
mama sama maki.

Speaker 4 (20:26):
Saw right right.

Speaker 1 (20:27):
So you know, English might be my first language, but
when it comes to English in music and songs, I
still only learned.

Speaker 4 (20:33):
Half the lyrics first. Right.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
Oh my god, I don't know how you stood there
and did absolutely nothing while this while this show was
going on.

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Because eye and when you practice it over and over again,
I sure, what were your days?

Speaker 2 (20:42):
Like how long?

Speaker 1 (20:44):
The week of the Super Bowl, we had three or
four rehearsals and they were all twelve hour days standing there,
So not standing there for twelve hours, but like it
takes two hours to get all of us in our
grass suits. So there's four hundred of us, so like
one person, it takes it's like, you know, ten fifteen minutes,
but you know, multiply that by four hundred and fifty,
it's two hundred. It's like two hours to you know,

(21:07):
put us on in the suit. So some of us
are just waiting while everyone else is getting grassed up,
and then it takes about thirty minutes to you know,
get from one of our locations into the stadium.

Speaker 3 (21:17):
Yeah, I did see someone tracked how far on like Strava?

Speaker 2 (21:21):
Yeah yeah, and what was it like half a mile?

Speaker 4 (21:23):
Yeah, something like that.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
Y'all got your work in?

Speaker 4 (21:25):
Oh we did. Oh that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (21:26):
It's like you're just standing there, you know, waiting for
like your position to be available to like go even
into the stadium. But then it takes like two hours
for all of us to get out. So most days
we're wearing the grass for like five or six hours.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
That is absolutely insane. Yeah all right, what makes that
eighteen hours or eighteen dollars.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
An hour worth?

Speaker 1 (21:42):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (21:42):
Yeah, for sure?

Speaker 2 (21:43):
Incredible.

Speaker 3 (21:44):
Do you have any big takeaways like this once in
a lifetime experience?

Speaker 2 (21:48):
Will you sign up again?

Speaker 1 (21:49):
So the next super Bowl is in La, okay, And
I don't know if I would do this again in La.

Speaker 4 (21:55):
I don't know if i'd fly.

Speaker 2 (21:56):
You don't know if you'd be grass again, or you
don't know if you would want to part take in
a day.

Speaker 1 (21:59):
I don't know if i'd be I definitely know I
won't be grasping. But I recommend anybody who's like who
wants to be a part of this, like go to
back Lit, like whenever they announced the next super Bowl
halftime show, which will probably be in October. You know,
Backlet will show the auditions on online and you know,
just apply. But I think the next super Bowls after
LA are in Atlanta and Vegas.

Speaker 4 (22:22):
I if I'm available, I don't know that.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
Like, so they they schedule the super Bowl locations just
about four years.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
In advance, I should probably be more like, yeah.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
I didn't notice either until like I was googling it.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
I like the the the grand reveal of it all.

Speaker 1 (22:40):
Yeah, so they they always make a big deal like
what the next location is going to be, But the
super Bowl is always in some location where it's either
a dome or it's you know, neutral weather. So that's
why Philadelphia can't host it because it's a little too
cold in February.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
Never say never. Global warming is real.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
Yeah, global in the super Bowl eighty eight, it'll be
eighty degrees in Philadelphia.

Speaker 4 (23:02):
Be able to have a super Bowl, Oh my god.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
But yeah, I recommend to anybody who is seeing all
the stuff that we're doing, like, if you really want
to be a part of this, like, go to Backlit.
When they announced the next super Bowl halftime show, I'm
sure they'll have some different parameters. I'm sure because now
they're they're realizing that they started a fire that they
can't put out.

Speaker 2 (23:21):
I mean, is grass flammable because there's a pun there.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
This grass is flammable. It's plastic.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
But you know, the people that were working on it,
like some of them were saying like, yeah, no, this
is like my eighth Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (23:32):
You know.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
I think some of the people that were grassed. I
think I only met one person who was like, yeah,
I did this last year for Kendrick Lamar, so like
they're kind of used to. I mean I already put
it on LinkedIn that like I was grasped B ninety
three and that I have skills in grass maintenance and standing.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
That is such a fun You're getting every job you
apply for.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
Oh yeah, for sure, Like I'm waiting for the brand
deals from like John Deere, you know grass mowing.

Speaker 4 (24:00):
Baby.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
Let me remind you that you've been on off of
a plane for five hours and you've done how many.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Press uh internationally, I've done about twenty different press things
already and I've got like another six today.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
Stop. Yeah, I thought I was doing something.

Speaker 1 (24:14):
I had to make time I had to make time
to come on Philly's number one music station Q one
O two.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
You know, and you've always been like the best supporter
even since we were little. So I am so grateful
and so excited at least give you a platform to
speak what literally seems to be the most amazing experience.

Speaker 2 (24:29):
I need to know, Bad Money you now you're besties.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
Yeah, me and Benito, Oh sorry for basis, Yeah, big, big,
big fan. He calls me grass ninety three. Uh he
talked to us. He didn't like talk to us like dark,
Like he didn't come up to me and go three
mob in.

Speaker 3 (24:48):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (24:48):
Really good impression.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
I know.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
I've been listening to talk for two weeks. Forget du
A lingo, I got Benito lingo.

Speaker 2 (24:55):
So he authentic.

Speaker 1 (24:57):
He talked to like the whole group like after like
second to last rehearsal, just like thanking us in Spanish
and then in English.

Speaker 4 (25:04):
We barely you know, heard most of it.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
But he said, and the Grass people very good and
like we lost our minds as if our first name
was grass the last name was people.

Speaker 4 (25:12):
It's like he talked directly.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
To me, he sew me through the grass. Yeah, it
was really cool. Just to like, you know, he's such
a good guy too. Like you know they always say,
like you know, don't meet your heroes or like you know,
some celebrities can be really yeah, some celebrities aren't as
great as you know you think they are. But like
he's seen such a sweet person. He's very shy for
someone who's a global superstar and just you know, very chismatic.

(25:35):
And he cared so much about this because again, it
meant so much for him.

Speaker 2 (25:40):
He was representing a population, yeah.

Speaker 1 (25:42):
Not just a population, entire community for sure, right, and
and it meant so much to him, and that kind
of empowered us to like do our best to like
be whatever he needed us to be.

Speaker 4 (25:52):
We we were.

Speaker 1 (25:52):
Like for anyone else, no, but for Benito need us
to be grass, we will be grass.

Speaker 3 (25:57):
I love that I have won more question? Yeah may i?

Speaker 4 (26:02):
Yeah? Yeah you can touch?

Speaker 2 (26:05):
Can I wear one?

Speaker 4 (26:06):
You could?

Speaker 3 (26:07):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (26:07):
You can put this on you right now.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
It's gonna take me ten to fifteen minutes.

Speaker 4 (26:10):
No, it's a nice little arm street.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
So wait, I want to be what is it group?

Speaker 4 (26:15):
Groot? I am group?

Speaker 2 (26:18):
Wait and just slide just it made custom to you.

Speaker 1 (26:21):
No, So like they're all they're they're all the same,
and you know they they got tailored.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
While we're on it, but you did you have a trimming?

Speaker 4 (26:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (26:30):
I did have a little trimming here and there. I
think you have an upside down you got it. You
have it backwards, so.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
You put it.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
It would tickle your armpit?

Speaker 1 (26:37):
Yeah, yeah, it does. It tickles your nostrils, your mouth,
your eyeballs.

Speaker 2 (26:41):
Oh, I'm not gonna lie this. This is tough.

Speaker 1 (26:43):
Yes, imagine imagine a whole suit you were you were
eating this. I wasn't eating it, but it's definitely in
in my mouth.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
Like, is your hands supposed to go all the way in?

Speaker 4 (26:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (26:52):
Oh how do you keep it up?

Speaker 1 (26:53):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (26:53):
It's got to be like.

Speaker 1 (26:54):
Strapped yeh, straps on and then we have like shoulder
pads that have more grass and we had a whole tunic.

Speaker 4 (27:00):
Yeah, I know.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
If you put in your face you can see exactly
what I was looking at the super Bowl nothing.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
Literally literally whatever.

Speaker 1 (27:08):
Whatever you can see through the blades of grass, that's
your that's your whole view.

Speaker 2 (27:11):
Andrew, this is cool as shit.

Speaker 4 (27:12):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
Well, I'm so excited for you. What are your plans
for this? I hope I didn't just break me.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
No, No, I mean I kind of want to do
it like aj Brown did and get like a mannequin.

Speaker 2 (27:21):
And just put like absolutely.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
But the problem is is, like these are the only
pieces I have. Fortunately, I know some people who worked
in Atlanta on this, Like this is all from like
an Atlanta studio.

Speaker 4 (27:31):
Move it through the snowstorm into California. Wow.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
But like I know some people and I was like, hey,
like can you just give me like some of the
instructions and like where I gotta what island Michael's I
gotta go to to to put this together because it
might be my Halloween costume.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
Oh my god.

Speaker 4 (27:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
But also like don't you dare put that idea in
anyone's head because they're not allowed.

Speaker 1 (27:48):
Everyone's going to be doing this in Halloween. I'm I
wouldn't be surprised.

Speaker 2 (27:52):
Do we Like we need to authenticate this.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
I mean, there's no way to like trademarkt but like
it's I think it's going to be super cool to
just see so many people on Halloween just like dress
up as the grass people and then knowing that I
actually have the authentic pieces.

Speaker 2 (28:04):
People are dressing up as you.

Speaker 1 (28:06):
Yeah, I know that's crazy, your famous people are going
to dress up as Andrew atheists for Halloween, Like that's
my dream.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
No, Like B ninety three is real.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
Yeah, people are like gonna get like little arm things
like yeah, no, I'm B ninety three, which one of
you or A seventeen?

Speaker 4 (28:18):
Yeah no, you're the fake one.

Speaker 2 (28:19):
I wish they like imprinted it.

Speaker 4 (28:20):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:20):
No, we had like little arm bands that we were wearing.
Keep that at least I did. When we're not wearing
the grass, like We're wearing this green jumpsuit that I'm wearing,
and like they gave us Like it's funny they could
tell them from Philly because like they were calling these
like buck clavas and I was like, you mean a
shisty Like they're like I was like they gave us
these and I was like I was like yeah, yeah.
They were like where's where's my shisty? And like what's

(28:40):
a shisty? I was like the green thing. They're like, no,
those about Clava's, Like no they're not. That's that's a dessert.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
With anyone else from Philly? Did you meet any other
Philly beMore No?

Speaker 1 (28:51):
Literally everyone that was there was from California. There was
one guy I met, we became best friends. He's from Chicago.

Speaker 4 (28:56):
Okay, But I was.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
Walking around in an Eagle's jacket every day of practice.

Speaker 4 (29:00):
They knew, they knew. Philly was in the house at
every rehearsal.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
I love that matter what time it was or how
long it was, I had my Eagles jacket on and
I was I was like, We're still the reigning champions
until the end of that fourth quarter, So I'm aware,
does Eagles jacket all over? Do I care that I'm
in San Francisco for your nor territory and there's the
reason why we're not in the Super Bowl. No, No,
I do not get I don't think about it at
all any day of my life.

Speaker 4 (29:22):
Ever.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
Well, I will say this, we actually did have someone
who formerly worked for our iHeartRadio market here, Delilah de
shout out to Delilah, she was, yes, exactly, that is
my girl, that is my workwify. She actually was on
the production side, so she was the one setting up
like the market and all that stuff, and y'all, I
was enthralled between after seeing you posting and then her

(29:45):
posting in real time of like the behind the scenes
y'all represented us.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
So so well, Philly and Cherry Hill is everywhere.

Speaker 1 (29:51):
You'll find us in all little crevices, in all fields
and all little blades of grass.

Speaker 2 (29:55):
We're going to be there well for what it's worth.
I am so stink and proud of you.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
You are literally shining and this I'm I'm I'm not
saying that this. It took you being Grass for you
to literally shine a light on this, but your energy
is radiant.

Speaker 4 (30:10):
What's crazy is is like I was a Reese's social
media influencer for for like a while.

Speaker 2 (30:16):
Well that's why I thought this post was fake.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
When I saw that they tagged in Andrew Atheist, I
was like, that's not his name on Instagram.

Speaker 2 (30:22):
Yeah, it literally is Reese's guy.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
Yeah, it's crazy that, like I tried so hard to
be like a Reese's influencer and it took being Grass
for Bad Bunny to really get get out there, you know,
for sid quests.

Speaker 2 (30:34):
No, but you know what you do it with the
most pure heart.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
You have no intention other than just living life and
its experiences that throw like God throws your way.

Speaker 2 (30:41):
And I'm so grateful that it brought.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
You back to me.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
Yeah I'm here now now, I just got to figure
out how how do you outdo grass at you know,
the Bad Bunny concert. I just gotta like be in
the Olympics now at this point.

Speaker 3 (30:51):
I mean, listen, they clearly need something in the Olympics
to Lindsay Vaughn.

Speaker 2 (30:56):
She needs she needs a new So I don't know
if I'm gonna do what Lindsay von does.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
I think as a Jamaican, I think I'll stick with
the Bob sled and joined the Bob sled team.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
Your imagination never dies, Hey, this brain is braining.

Speaker 4 (31:09):
All the time.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
Well, I adore you, and I hope all the great
things come your way with this opportunity because it is
literally making you glow. I'm so glad to hear Bad
Bunny is as amazing as we all hoped and dreamed.

Speaker 4 (31:20):
He would be more than amazing.

Speaker 3 (31:21):
And I cannot thank you enough for giving us all
the behind the scenes on being a piece of grass.

Speaker 4 (31:24):
I can't thank you for letting me come spill the grass.

Speaker 3 (31:27):
But don't spill the tea with anybody else because I
want exclusivity.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Yeah, oh no, you got I knew him first, fright.
I'll tell you something that I didn't tell anybody else.
So when we were having our rehearsals, we got to
see like some of the other things get set up
for the Super Bowl, including Green Day. Right, so we
got to watch the Green Day performance like over and
over and over again. And the drummer for Green Day
he does this thing where like he throws a drumstick

(31:53):
behind him, and we were behind him when he was
still of the drum sick. So I got a I
have a drumstick. It's literally in my car right now.
Should brought it with me, but I have a Green
Day drumstick shut up that the drummer threw behind him
before he did it like five or six times. So
there's like five or six of us that have drumsticks.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
And you're what how many trees were there?

Speaker 4 (32:12):
There was about four hundred of.

Speaker 2 (32:13):
Us, so you were ninety three amongst four hundred.

Speaker 3 (32:15):
Yeah, and also one of six who received this Green
Day drummer.

Speaker 4 (32:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
So I haven't told anybody else that, but I have.
I have a official Green Day drumstick from Trey Cool,
the drummer from Green Day.

Speaker 2 (32:26):
I am manifesting this for you.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
If there's any collaboration, any influencership things that you can
get out of this. Somebody needs to create a memorabilia
for you to showcase all of these really cool super
Bowl I'm also taking.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
So many grass influencers that have like never existed in public.

Speaker 2 (32:41):
Got a green thum?

Speaker 1 (32:42):
Yeah, oh I've got green arms.

Speaker 5 (32:44):
It's Andrew Atheis, everybody, Cherry Hill's, Cherry Cougars.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
Let's go, baby. We love you, Thank you so much,
and congratulations. This is epic.

Speaker 4 (32:54):
Thank you,
