Toby and Chili Mornings on Demand on ninety seven point
one Wash Rabbit Rabbit.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
It is the first day of November.

Speaker 3 (00:08):
Welcome to Toby and Chili in the morning at ninety
seven point one Wash FM. I'm Chilliyamar Mike Klein here
for Toby Nap and I know you didn't have any
trigger treaters. I had none yesterday because you live in
an apartment complex. We live on a street that ends
in a cul de sac, and I met the cul
de sac and we only had maybe ten kids.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
That's it. Come by, Yeah, that's it.

Speaker 3 (00:29):
And that's been like that since we moved in there,
which is kind of disappointing, but we make the most
of it. We do like one of those like hang
out on the driveway and drink and have a fire pit.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
Maybe you're scaring the kids when they see you guys
out there. No, no, no, But here's what's different this year.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Okay, our kids, like the ones with me and my
next door neighbors, so there's like four or five of them,
and they were walking around together.

Speaker 2 (00:52):
They come back after like ten houses like okay, we're done.
Like what mean you're done? There's like forty houses on
the street.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
They only did ten. That's it, like we got I
got bored. Maybe they got hot. It was a little
too warm at the time. Oh it was, that's right, only
seed her Like you.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Guys, this was like what we looked forward to all
year and we would hit up multiple neighborhoods when I
was growing up.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Y'all can't even get through ten houses and you're complaining.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
But yeah, I'm thinking about it.

Speaker 3 (01:21):
I don't have a lot of candy because he didn't
bring home a lot of candy.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
I'm thinking about it. I don't.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
I think I may have done twenty houses back in
the day, now that I'm really thinking about it. We
probably thought we were doing tons of neighborhoods. We probably
did double what they know. We would work in ships.
We would go out, get the loot, come home all right.

Speaker 2 (01:38):
Empty out, and then go back. I mean we were intense.
It was a master plan.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Yeah, that's right, the crazy streets of Vienna, Virginia.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
I was showing up.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
No, but my kid's not the same and okay, which
is good. Again, I will say there's not there's not
a whole lot of candy. So hopefully you had a
save Halloween and we are in the month of November.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
Uh. Even though we may be a.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
Divided country, carently there's one thing we don't disagree about,
and that is sandwiches. We'll talk about just how many
sandwiches we all are eaten as Toby and Chili in
the Morning continues on ninety seven point one Washchef, It's
Toby and Chilly in the Morning on ninety seven point
one Washchef.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
M I'm chili Amar.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Toby Napp is out today, but Mike Klein is here,
and I don't know if you are a big sandwich person.
I'm bringing this up because Americans, on average, eat six
sandwiches a week, and forty six percent of them said
they could live on sandwiches alone for the rest of
their lives.

Speaker 2 (02:33):
That's how big a deal it is.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
I ate a lot back in the day, but then
I started like gaining weight, and so I started being
weird about not eating so much bread.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
But now I feel like I'm going back in that
direction again.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Okay, before I tell you what the number one most
popular sandwich in the country is, what is your go
to sandwich?

Speaker 4 (02:48):
So I'm boring. I like just turkey and cheese, That's it. Okay,
well that's number three, Nomeo though, that's number three, okay
for sure. A second place is chicken sandwich and number.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
One grilled cheese. Goot old comfort grilled cheese.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
That is so good, especially when it starts getting a
little bit colder outside.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
I definitely love the girl trees. However, I feel like
that's the most.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
Unhealthy one and I'm ruining everyone's morning by saying that
out loud.

Speaker 2 (03:09):
But no, I mean it's good.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
My husband is I'm not a sandwich person, Okay, I
think six sandwiches a week, it's a lot. It seems
like a lot until you think about, okay, lunch, Like,
let's say you have a sandwich every day for lunch.
My husband is such a creature of habit. He eats
the same exact sandwich. What every single day?

Speaker 2 (03:29):
What's he eat? What's what's the sandwich? So, because he's.

Speaker 3 (03:31):
Working from home now, he'll toast some sour dough bread
and he'll put like salami and cheese and eat that
with some potato chips.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Like, does he realize he's the same thing every day? Knows?

Speaker 5 (03:42):
He doesn't.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
I'm like, I'm like, do you want me to get
something else? From you from the story.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
He's like, no, that's the one. But you know what,
I'm surprised the steak and cheese wasn't in the time.

Speaker 2 (03:52):
That is my Probably it's probably harder to make steak
and cheese. Yeah, that's true, it's not as quick.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
But if you want to read more about the survey,
you can find it on the Toby and chilipage at

The mother of a Montgomery County special ed student is

was found dead from multiple stab wounds in a Germantown
creek back in January of twenty twenty two. Two DC
paced nonprofits have been ordered to stop sending letters to

(08:11):
Maryland residents containing information about their voting history. Maryland's Attorney
general announced yesterday he found that the letters are intimidating,
noting they contain a vague threat to embarrass non voters
by exposing their voting records to their neighbors. Fairfax County
is planning to lower the speed limits on at least
three roads. It's part of a pilot program aimed at

(08:33):
helping change driver behavior. A new law that went into
effect this year allows localities to shift speed limits to
less than twenty five miles an hour, but not less
than fifteen miles per hour. And remember, clocks will go
back one hour this Sunday. Daylight Saving time ends at
two am November third, which means we get an extra

(08:57):
hour of sleep. Forecasts for today all, oh, there is
a slight chance of some rain early this morning. It's
going to be sunny later, highs again, warm around eighty

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Those holiday catalogs that we would get in the mail, Well,
they're making it comeback in a big way.

Speaker 2 (09:18):
How do you feel about them?

Speaker 3 (09:19):
Eight six six nine two seven four three six one
is the number if you want to share your thoughts.
We're going to talk about that next, as Toby and
Chilly in the Morning continues on ninety seven point one
wash FM. Well, now that Halloween is over, that holiday
shopping is going to become more of a thing. It's
Toby and Chilly in the Morning on ninety seven point
one wash FM. I'm Chilliyamar here with Mike Client, who's

(09:40):
in for Toby Napp. And I bring it up because
more and more retailers are doing the old school holiday.

Speaker 2 (09:47):
Catalog thing back in the mail, okay, yeah, instead of
the digital version.

Speaker 3 (09:52):
And when I saw this, I was like, you know what,
I loved flipping through the catalog and trying to earmark
pages or circle things that I would want to buy
people or even for myself. Do you prefer the digital
way of doing things or the old school catalog.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
I like looking at the catalog, but the digital way
is the best way because then you can just search
for items, and I think that's easier for me, and
that can send links to people.

Speaker 2 (10:18):
People. Yeah. Yeah, well with the old school it's kind
of a nostalgic thing.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
But I could hand it to my son for example, okay,
you know the toy section or the game section, and
then he could circle certain things, and that to me
was part of a core memory when I was growing
up doing it with my parents. Whereas with the digital oh,
it's just like Willy nilly adding random things to an
Amazon cart.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
It just doesn't feel as warm and fuzzy. It doesn't know,
it doesn't. There's just not anyway.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
If you've got some thoughts that you want to share,
you know, whether you like the old school holiday catalog
or the digital version that we've sort of come to
get used to, you can share your You can go
to the iHeartRadio app and there's a little talkback microphone
there and just record it and it sends it right
here to us. You can find more in the story

what do you've got for the answer?

Speaker 5 (12:27):
I hope this Polysi graduate has it corrected that, John Adams.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
Well, your degree has definitely come in handy, John Adams,
is the right answer. Congratulations, Thank you Chelsea State.

Speaker 5 (12:42):
Eight years of college paid off.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
Yeah, I'm sure your parents are very proud who knew
when they paid for your education that it was going
to help you win tickets to go see Kylie Minogue
get Capitol One Arena.

Speaker 2 (12:52):
She's coming to town and you'll be there.

Speaker 5 (12:55):
That's why I graduated.

Speaker 3 (12:56):
Thank you very much, You're very welcome. Now make sure
you're here again Monday morning. We're going to play another
round of our nearly Impossible Question right around six twenty Monday.
This time we got tickets to go see Pentatonics at
Eagle Bank Arena November twenty first, thanks to Live Nation.
It is Toby and Chilly in the Morning on ninety
seven point one wash FM and coming up in just

(13:18):
a few minutes, we're going to get you up to
speed on all the news headlines with Toby and Chili's
tap story.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
Former President Trump is suing CBS News for ten billion
dollars for allegedly making Kamala Harris look good in a
sixty minutes interview. Is legal team claims the network edited
the footage to cast Harris in a positive light.

Speaker 2 (13:41):
Network says that interview was not doctored.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
A Florida man is facing charges after you allegedly beat
a sleeping passenger on a flight from San Francisco to
Dulles Airport earlier this week. Another passenger reportedly pulled the
suspect off the victim and kept watch over him for
the rest of the flight. The Smithsonian is helping DC's
Public Library teach residents about the experience black families faced

(14:06):
when traveling during the first half of the twentieth century.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Official say.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
The new interactive exhibit opening tomorrow at the Martin Luther
King Junior Memorial Library shows how black families had to
plan very carefully to avoid danger before desegregation. Wallet Hub
just came out with their report on the best and
worst states for jobs, and they based it on things
like median annual income and average commute time. New Hampshire

(14:33):
tops the list as the best state for jobs. Now
Virginia came in sixth that Maryland was tenth, so they
made it to the top ten. Meanwhile, West Virginia is
the worst state for jobs. And according to a recent survey,
fifty five percent of Americans think about holiday prep back
in September. Fifty six percent start gift shopping early, and

(14:55):
forty two percent get a head start on organizing the
home forecast for today, there's a slight chance of rain
this morning. Otherwise it's going to turn into a partly
cloudy day. Highs around eighty. Right now, it is sixty
six degrees in Falls Church.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Coming up next, we want to share a feel good
story on this Friday.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
So that you can go into the weekend with a
smiling heart. It comes to us from a classic car
garage in Rockville and how one of its employees is
impacting the community and that is on the way. As
Toby and Chilly in the Morning continues on ninety seven
point one, washeff. You know everywhere you look there seems
to be some sort of negativity, especially on social media.

(15:33):
So we love to share stories that inspire us and
also make us feel warm and fuzzy. It's Toby and
Chilly in the Morning on ninety seven point one Wash FM.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
I'm Chilli Amar.

Speaker 3 (15:45):
Toby Nap is out today, but I came across the
story recently that I think will really make this.

Speaker 2 (15:52):
Friday a little extra special.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
It's out of Fleming's Ultimate Garage in Rockville, and Flemings
is known for their classic cars and restoring cars to
their perfect condition. Each one is meticulously cared for. But
that's all in part because of a young man named
Andrew Lamb. Now, Andrew happens to be neurodivergent and non verbal,

(16:17):
and he was hired two years ago by the shop
to wax the cars and keep them looking flawless for customers.
Andrew's job was made possible through a nonprofit based out
of Silver Spring called Seek, and Katrina Coogle with Seek
explains the benefit of their program.

Speaker 6 (16:38):
It ends up being a benefit for the employer, for
their customers, for the coworkers, not to mention the person
with disabilities who's more integrated in their community, who's making
their own money and then turning around and spending that
money right back into their community.

Speaker 3 (16:52):
Research actually shows that companies that hire newer divergent individuals
see better overall worker performance and stronger ties within the community.
And what's cool about this story is that a few
weeks ago Andrew got to show off all his very
hard work to some state leaders who stop by. So
it's amazing that businesses like Fleming's Ultimate Garage in Rockville

(17:15):
give kids like Andrew Lamb an opportunity to shine despite
their disabilities. If you want to read that story or
share some of your own positive stories. You could find
it on the Toby and Chili page at washfm dot com.
Coming up next, would you let anyone besides your own
child use your car to take a driver's test? Well,

(17:38):
Mike Klein is here for Toby Napp today and yesterday
he let his nephew borrow his vehicle to take the test.
Did it come back damaged? Did the kid pass the test?
I guess we're going to find out in just a
few minutes. As Toby and Chilly in the Morning continues
on ninety seven point one, WASHCHEFL would you let someone
other than your kid use your car to take their

(18:01):
driver's license test? It's Toby and Chilly in the Morning
at ninety seven point one was FM. I'm Chili Amar.
Toby Nap is out today, but Mike Klient is here
and I'm asking the question because Mike, you couldn't fill
in for Toby. Yesterday you were in Pennsylvania.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
Taking my nephew to get his driver's license. Why were
you letting your nephew use your car?

Speaker 4 (18:23):
I just my brother's car wasn't working and I just
wanted to help, so I picked him up. I had
to get up like seven thirty in the morning, drive
up to Pennsylvania. I get to his house. Whatever, he
jumps the car, drives it to the test.

Speaker 2 (18:35):
Okay, so that's the first time he's ever driven my car. Right,
you're better than I am.

Speaker 3 (18:40):
There's no way I'm letting anybody else besides my own
kid use my vehicle for driving tests because I don't
know their skill set or whatever. I'd rent the car
for them. I would find another way to get a car.
But good for you. You're driving to the test. He's
driving you to the test. Do you feel good about
his skill?

Speaker 2 (19:00):
Like his skills look good?

Speaker 4 (19:01):
He was a little hesitant, a little slower than you
know then than what we would be like. But then
I wanted to try to parallel park real quick, as
like he goes, Oh, no, I'm good, I'm good on
the parallel parking way. Why does he need to worry
about parallel parking? In Pennsylvania, they still make your parallel
park in the test. What Virginia, Maryland?

Speaker 2 (19:16):
No, that is intense.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
I actually am glad they make you parallel park as
probably their driver's test in Pennsylvania. So he felt pretty
calm or like he didn't care much about it. Why
did you think it was a big deal?

Speaker 4 (19:28):
So it took me twice to pass, three times to
pass the test. I failed it twice on the parallel parking,
on the hitting the cones on the way out. So
from your personal EXPI experience of failing it. All right,
So he goes and the guy comes back and says, yeah,
he failed, he did not he does not have a
parallel park. And I'm like, oh, oh god, it's genetic. Yes,

(19:50):
he's definitely my nephew. We're related.

Speaker 2 (19:52):
So wait a minute, Mike, does this meet I had
to go back to Pennsylvania again, like in two weeks,
probably like at six in the morning. Who knows you need?
I give him like a parallel park crash court. Well,
that crash course is not the right word. A quick
little boot cam did. I made him try it like
thirty times. He finally got it at the after like
the fifteenth time. Oh my god, good luck with that
coming up in just a few minutes.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
We're gonna get you up to speed on all the
news headlines with Toby at Chile's Top Stories.

Speaker 2 (20:16):
On ninety seven point one wash.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
FF Top Stories Top of the Hour.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
A man is facing charges for allegedly attacking a sleeping

Airport investigator say Evan Nelson was returning to a seat

(20:45):
a deadly shooting that happened near Northwest Stadium in Landover
just before noon yesterday. The victim died before he could
be taken to the hospital. Metro workers are asking the
agency for more protection after a station manager was assaulted
at the Braddock Road station back on October thirteenth. Workers
rallied outside the Alexandria Courthouse yesterday as the suspect in

(21:07):
the attack was arranged. The workers are demanding more punishment
for those who assault or harm Metro employees. The Alexandria
Health Department is issuing a warning after a raccoon tested
positive for rabies this week. The agency says a dog
made contact with a dog along a trail in the
Dora Kelly Nature Park on Sunday, and it was the

(21:31):
second time a raccoon tested positive for rabies in October. Now,
according to your recent survey, apparently it takes less than
thirty minutes for the average American to get impatient while
they're waiting for food delivery to arrive, and when going
to a restaurant, it takes an average of just thirteen
minutes after being seated before people lose patients waiting to order.

(21:54):
Forecasts for today, we do have a slight chance of
rain this morning. Otherwise it's going to be partly cloudy.
Eighty the high right now sixty five in shan chilly

Speaker 2 (22:06):
Is there something you've always wanted to learn to do?
What is it?

Speaker 3 (22:10):
Eight sixty six nine two seven four to three sixty
one is the number to call. Let us know what
that is, because apparently there's a test that helps to
see if you have what it takes to succeed in
anything you do. We'll discuss that secret and get to
your calls. As Toby and Chile in the Morning continues
a ninety seven point one Wash FM.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
What is something you've always.

Speaker 3 (22:33):
Wanted to learn how to do? Eight sixty six nine
two seven four three six one is the number. It's
Toby and Chilly in the morning A ninety seven point
one Wash FM.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
I'm chilli Amar.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Toby Nap is out, but my client is here and
I'm bringing this up because if you have the right mindset,
we all could learn how to do pretty much anything.
They're say that people with a growth mindset believe their
talents and abilities can be developed through effort, good teaching,
and persistence. But if you have a fixed mindset, you
just believe your basic qualities like intelligence or talent, are

(23:05):
static traits that can't be changed. So knowing that a
mindset has everything to do with it. Mike, if what
is something that you would really love to learn how
to do?

Speaker 4 (23:16):
I don't know you're gonna laugh at me, but I've
always wanted to, like learn how to be like a
club DJ, so going like scratch in the club or
whatever that makes sense.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
And you haven't tried that because I don't have the
patience for it, pus. I don't want to be in
clubs all night long. I think it'd be like fun
to do it like one time or whatever. What about you?
What are you?

Speaker 5 (23:30):
Well?

Speaker 6 (23:30):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (23:31):
I wish I could learn how to do basic car
maintenance because in case something goes sideways.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
I'd love to be able to.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
Pop up the hood and tinker and fix it and
be done with it. But yeah, I pay other people
to do that. I don't have the patience. Susan, you're
part of the show in Centerville. What is something you've
always wanted to learn? I've always wanted to learn on
how to do an aerial like those gymnasts do. It
looks so effortless and fun, but I was never able
to get it down.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
Wow. Well not all of us can be Simone Biles.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
I mean, watching the Summer Olympics inspired so many people
to even get into gymnastics. Thanks so much for sharing that.
Susan Dan in Germantown.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
What about you?

Speaker 5 (24:13):
I've always wanted to learn how to crochet?

Speaker 2 (24:15):
Why is that?

Speaker 5 (24:16):
I think it would be awesome to be able to
make my own clothes at blankets and things like that.

Speaker 2 (24:20):
That is really impressive Dan, that you'd want to do that. Ooh,
can I put an odor in for a beanie? No,
he doesn't have an Etsy story yet. You gotta wait
one more.
