Speaker 3 (06:27):
Oh we were talking on Friday show about the biggest
tip you've left and why so go ahead?

Speaker 4 (06:34):
It was a couple hundred bucks, and it was to
a waitress who was very kind to my father when
he was in his last couple of years of his
life and he was disabled. It was the day he died,
and we went back to his favorite plass store and
I gave it to her in an envelope and I said,
thank you just for being so respectful to him.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Wow, that is that's a powerful, powerful story.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Can you give us an example of what you mean
by being so respectful or how she may have gone
above and beyond for your dad.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Yeah, he was an engineer, he was a colonel in
the Air Force, but he had Parkinson's. He was extremely disabled, Doll.
Not many people would treat him like a normal adult male.
They were just kind of passing over. But she was
just so respectful and kind and treated him like he

(07:30):
should be treated. She didn't see his disability.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
That's amazing. Well, thank you for taking the time to
call us and tell us that very personal story about
a really amazing tip. I hope that it helps earn
her family, but I hope that it brought you some
peace as you went through what you went through.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
Thank you so much.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
I have a great dan. Thanks for sharing that with us.

So after the show on Friday, Chilly shared with me
that she was going to enjoy high tea time over
over the weekend. That it was well, the weekends behind
us and you had yourt I'm curious about the experience
you'll tell us, won't you.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
I will was the blu Genus worth it? I don't know,
you'll find out.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
That's right next. I'd luck a spot of tea and
a crumpet please. Good morning, Toby and Chilly. In the morning.
It's ninety seven point one Washcha FM. My voice keeps
going sideways today. I apologize and advance refund checks available.
After the show, Chilli, before the weekend, you shared with
us that you were going to a high tea over

(11:25):
the weekend, and now it's time for you to spill
said tea on the tea. Was it everything you wanted? More?

Speaker 3 (11:31):
No, it was nothing that I wanted. What so high tea.
In case you don't know, some of these fancy pants
restaurants will charge a lot of money for you to
go for an afternoon heavy snack, right, and it's usually
like little Finger sandwiches and some scones and little treats,
and it's a lovely atmosphere. I this is my third

(11:52):
experience with it, and it was for a special occasion
for a family member, and it's always a letdown for me.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
Yeah, Like when you were telling me about it before
we started the show, you had the dejected chili look
like it's frustrated, disappointed, dejected.

Speaker 3 (12:06):
It just I don't think the sandwiches taste as good
as i'd like them too, even though they are only
two bites of piece.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Right.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
The sweets were okay, But I think really, at the
end of the day, you're paying for the experience, and
to me, the experience isn't worth the price tag for me,
not even.

Speaker 2 (12:25):
The people watching well, yoh.

Speaker 3 (12:27):
God, no, I could people watch for free at an
airport or anywhere else if I want it.

Speaker 2 (12:31):
True story. Hotel lobbies are typically free to hang.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Out exactly, so obviously if somebody else chooses it to
celebrate something, I will go along to get along. But
it's a little too bougie maybe for me. I don't.
I don't get it. I just it ain't my jam.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
No high tea. If for you, no, it's not your
jam on those crumpets.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
No, absolutely not. Sorry, well I'll take a hard pass.

Speaker 2 (13:00):
Well the numbers eight six six, nineteen seven, forty three
sixty one. You can also tap the talk back microphone
and send us a voice note if you've been to
a better tea than the tea that Chili just described
to you. Because maybe we'll all meet up together one
day and have some tea and hopefully it won't be
as disappointing as Chilly's left doown was. It's ninety seven
point one was CHEFM with Toby and Chilly in the morning.

(13:22):
We always love to hear from you, and we need
you to hang out because in just minutes.

Speaker 3 (13:26):
I don't know if you miss this or not, but
a week ago a local father son duo won one
point two million dollars on a game show, which got
us wondering, what game show do you think you could
kick butt in?

Speaker 2 (13:37):
We just told you the numbers to the place. Give
us a call join the conversation this Monday morning. The
story you might have seen from right here in the
DMB about a father and a son and a game
show and a big win, and it got us thinking
about game shows and what game show you would do
really really well on with Toby and Chilly in the morning.
It's ninety seven point one was CHEFM now here is

(13:59):
the backstorre.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Yeah, so it was a father son duo I think
from Prince William County and they won one point six
million dollars on the game show called The Wall. It
aired last week. They had taped it a few months ago.
The only game show that comes to mind that I
may do well in is a Wheel of Fortune, because
I'm pretty good at solving those puzzles and guessing the
different vowels and constant What about you, what game show

(14:22):
do you think you would do well?

Speaker 2 (14:23):
Trivial pursuit. Oh, I'm fascinated by so many random things,
and I'm constantly learning, even if it's pointless knowledge. And
I've played the game with friends and family in the past,
and I've done well, and I know that I would
do well if LeVar Burton she was asking me those
questions and I was on that game show, Bring on
Trivial Pursuit, I'd win big and I'd take us all

(14:45):
on vacation.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
That's funny because you're like, if I do well on
the board game, I'll do well on the actual game show.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Well, that would make sense, I think, Yeah. I think
Gate sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one.
He's been hanging on the line to talk to us
because he loves some game show as I see, Randy,
goodwy morning and thank you for listening in Arlington Today.
Game show? Do you think you would do well on?
You would thrive if you were a contestant.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
I think I would do really well on the Weakest Link.

Speaker 2 (15:10):
The weakest Link.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
Now, why do you think that?

Speaker 4 (15:13):
I know a fair amount about trivia and I would
just lay low enough not to get voted off, and
that's how you win that one.

Speaker 2 (15:19):
I know just enough about the Weakest Link that I
would probably end up hearing.

Speaker 5 (15:23):
This you are the weakest link.

there are two sisters who have turned their love of
nature and science into something that helps the entire community.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Their names are Sufiana and Idina Johnson, and they were
both interested in stem and caring for the environment. And
they noticed something really exciting, and that was that a
lot of people wanted to welcome wildlife into their yards,
but they didn't always know what kind of plants they
should get to help make that happen.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
And so they created an app. No, they did. They
went and they made an app called Maryland Native Plant Search,
which shows people local plants that attract butterflies or birds
or pollinators negative wildlife, and which ones help keep the
insects like mosquitos in such a way. Learned a code

(22:00):
to make this app, and Adna's her sister, she built
the planted database. And then the project is just grow
into something bigger than a school idea.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Yeah, a lot of conservation groups, local environmental organizations, and
even wildlife supporters. They started recognizing the sisters for what
they had built, and along the way, they also added
some helpful new features, like information about Maryland trees and
also tips for planting and caring for them.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Look, when passion projects become something that brings people together
to make life and being outdoors, livelier and more healthy.
That is something that just feels not just good, but awesome.

the app and thank you for a story that absolutely

every weekday. When you get up with us. Now, Chili,
I detect you're a bit frustrated. What's going on?

Speaker 3 (25:41):
I got a Christmas gift and I'm a bit disappointed
in how it's not working the way I thought it would.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
Hang on, I've got a penny. I would like to
get your thoughts and we'll all hear why. Chili's very
disappointed this morning coming up. Remember you can chime in
whenever you can call eight sixty six ninety seven forty

A few minutes ago, Chili, you say you're disappointed with
a Christmas gift. Oh boy, please tell us why you
are not feeling so good about this.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
We got a bird feeder, and it's one of those
bird feeders that has a camera attached to it and
when it senses a bird visiting and eating the seeds,
it identifies it for you. There's video, there's photo. It's
really cool. Yeah, it sounds very concept.

Speaker 2 (26:37):
Yeah, I'm a tech kid and I love birds in nature,
so that that's like a win win win. It's yeah,
a ring camera with food for birds.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
Exactly, and so we instantly installed it and every single
day since Christmas, we go home after work and excitedly
look at the app and not a single bird has
come by to feast. Well, very upsetting.

Speaker 2 (27:01):
I'm sorry that you're frustrated, but you know, birds are
migratory and this is migration season. They're down at my parents'
house in South Texas with the blue hands and the cranes.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
I get it. I get it. Not every bird is
in town, but there are still some in the hood.
I just don't understand why they love to what's the word?
I'm like loiter everywhere else in the trees except the
bird feeder in the back.

Speaker 2 (27:24):
I mean, I can't. I can't say for the birds
because I don't speak bird. But I do know this.
Most of the birds I know like bird feeders, bird
seed and stuff. But spring will be here soon enough,
and then there'll be even more birds.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
I hope you're right.

Speaker 2 (27:38):
You'll have some interesting things to post on the Internet
of Things. But Billy, who is listening to us right now? Billy,
good morning. I hope things are great over in Waldorf.
So what do you think the good news is?

Speaker 3 (27:49):
I just had birds my bird feeder for the first
time today, and I'm so excited because I've been waiting
for weeks. That is good news and weeks.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
Okay, yes, and thank you Billy and Billy and people
listening to ninety seven point one WASHFM right now, please
remind Chilly that she needs to be a little more patient.

Speaker 2 (28:16):
