you know every six months. There was something I remember
on the dentist's office as a kid. It said something
like go every time the moon changes, and I was like.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Well, insurance doesn't cover that. Insurance is very picky about
exactly six.

Speaker 2 (01:24):
Insurance is picky about everything. I don't even want to
talk about insurance. No offense to the insurance industry, but
y'all got some issues.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:31):

morning mindset.

Speaker 3 (04:47):
This is where we pause and share a quote to
get you into a good headspace for you to think
about the rest of the day.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
God save the Queen from Queen Elizabeth the second she says,
above all, be true to yourself, and Elizabeth sid God
rests her soul. Above all, be true to yourself. Now,
what does it mean on a Wednesday morning to be
true to yourself? Above all? Be true to yourself? Well,
I think what the Queen's trying to remind us with

(05:15):
that statement is that authenticity is what it is that
builds the confidence that lasts longer than trying to please
everyone else. Be true to yourself today. That's where authenticity
even comes from. Authenticity is what it is that creates confidence,
and that lasts a lot longer than trying to please everyone.

(05:39):
Trust me, I'm like the diagnosed people pleaser over here.
It's part of my psychological profile. Doesn't work. Hopefully that
helps you today as you navigate whatever life brings your
way on a Wednesday. That is your morning mindset. You'll
find it the Toby and chillipage WATCHIFIM dot com and
on our socials. Feel free to check it out when

(05:59):
you get a chance and stay with us because in
just minutes.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
You said you learned an important lesson about parking and
handicap spaces.

Speaker 2 (06:06):
Very important lesson, and it's a lesson you don't realize
until you walk a mile in someone else's shoes. Let
me just tell you in a few Toby and Chilly
in the morning at eight sixty six nine two seven
forty three sixty one, it is ninety seven point one
wash Fmoh the lessons this life teaches you as you

(06:28):
enjoy the joy that comes with this journey.

Speaker 3 (06:32):
And what is the lesson that you've learned recently?

Speaker 2 (06:35):
Handicap spaces. It's been no secret that I've been recovering
for a while from a lot of knee surgeries, three
of them over the last what year or so, and
it's been painful at times, but I'm not out of
the woods yet. But I've discovered the importance of the
handicapped placard. I have a temporary one while I'm healing,
which allows me to park in handicapped spaces out of necessity.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
And it's very important and convenient for you because it's
a struggle for you to get around on that roll later.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
It is and it's not easy, like you know, getting
to work like this morning, drove myself to work this morning. Again,
there's a reason why these spaces exist. Well, I've also
noticed since I've been rocking out the role later when
it comes to people who respect the handicapped space, they're
few and far between.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
So you're saying that you're noticing people are parking there
when they should not be correct and you know this
because they don't have a placard. There are certain handicaps
or whatever that are invisible, so to speak.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Right, they figure I can park here, run in really fast,
and get out so that at a shipping store over
the weekend. And if it were just one time, chili,
I wouldn't have a problem with it, But it's multiple
times on multiple occasions, whether it's me going to see
a movie, right and parking in a handicap spot at
the movie because it's closer for me to get into
the building, you know, running to a grocery store or

(07:54):
to the mall, or to tysons or shopping. These spaces
exist for a reason.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
And you're really just upset at people who are thinking,
I'm only going to be a minute, but you're saying
that minute is when somebody else could be rolling up
that needs it. Were you ever guilty of being one
of those people that was like, Hey, you know what,
I'm only going to be a minute. I'll leave the
hazards on and I'll just jump right out.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
I admit that I was worse than that. Oh I
had to go out of town to a friend's funeral
and park in a handicap spot at Union Station because
I was running late with a former colleague of ours.
And call it karma, And maybe that's why I'm so
belligerent about it, but it's true. It got you, and
karma will get you if you go abusing those handicapped spaces.

(08:37):
They're not for you. Don't do it. This public service
message brought to you from ninety seven point one watch
f M or He'll be and Chilly in the morning,
where you'll get top stories at the top of the
hour in just minutes. What's going on?

Speaker 3 (08:48):
The Washington Commanders picked their builders for the new stadium
in DC. They are actually three of them, and I'll
share those details in just a few.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
Are iHeartRadio Music Festival presented by our friends over Tyson's Capital.
One is back. Vegas is calling your name for two
nights of music bliss at the Team Mobile Arena. You

Coming up on Top Stories, Top of the Hour.

French George's County Police have arrested six people accused of
stealing more than half a million dollars in merchandise across
five states. The latest on that story and others On
the Way with Toby and Chilly in the Morning a

Speaker 1 (09:55):
Top Stories Top of the Hour.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
French George's County police have arrested six people accused of
stealing more than a half a million dollars in merchandise
from stores across five states, including DC, Maryland, and Virginia
since last year, and reselling much of it online. A
DC police lieutenant could be headed to prison. Matthew Mall
pleaded guilty to soliciting a minor after allegedly messaging an

(10:20):
undercover investigator who is posing as a fifteen year old boy.
He sets to be sentenced on September thirtieth. A man
convicted of sexually assaulting a woman on Herndon's Wood Trail
back in twenty twenty four now faces up to eighteen
years behind bars. Dennis Navaret is set for sentencing December eleventh.

(10:42):
Prince William County police are searching for a man who's
accused of filming an eighteen year old woman under a
bathroom stall at a hotel in Manassa's. She confronted him,
but he fled. Investigators say that he was spotted at
the same restroom that's located in Tempo by Hilton just
two weeks earlier. Washington Commanders rather the Washington Commanders have

(11:05):
picked their builders for the new stadium. Clark Construction Group,
Mortensen and Smoot Construction are going to be leading the
project bringing experience from National's Park and Capital One Arena,
with construction set to break ground next year. And finally,
you know, beyond the usual liquids rule, TSA actually banned

(11:25):
some surprising carry on items like cordless curling irons, bladed corkscrews,
gel candles, and even snow globes. And by the way,
getting caught with any of those items could cost you
over seventeen thousand dollars per violation. Forecast for today partly
cloudy with the chance of a storm later. Hi's around
eighty six right now, seventy one in Rockville.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
And that is the news with Toby and Chilly in
the morning. You get top stories at the top of
the hour, and we want to get your take on
this at eight sixty six, nine two, seven forty three
sixty one. Have you ever suffered lugshy letdown? Have you
heard of this phenomenon, this luxury letdown? You know, when
you go after something that's considered luxury, but it's well

(12:10):
we let down. We're talking about it coming up on
the surface. It seems like a luxury, but a letdown's
waiting for you and me, Toby and Chill. You in
the morning. It's ninety seven point one wash FM. Have
you ever experienced a luxury letdown? They're buzzing about this
on Reddit, so we thought we'd bring the conversation to
you this morning at ninety seven point one wash FM,

(12:31):
Chilly you know about this well?

Speaker 3 (12:32):
They asked the question what luxury did you stop wanting
after you actually experienced it because the cost just wasn't
living up to the hype. And one of the best
examples was hot tubs. Another one was first class flight.
Or bottle service at a nightclub. I'll tell you what
bottle service at a nightclub I've never even wanted, because
I can tell there's no way that's going to be

(12:54):
worse the return on your investment. Who cares about bottle service?
You know?

Speaker 2 (13:00):
When it came to bottle service at nightclubs back in
the day, when I used to have to do them
as appearances and then going and hanging with other colleagues
and coworkers, I can tell you it is mind blowing
how a fifty dollars bottle of champagne at the state
store somehow mysteriously becomes three hundred dollars at a club exact,
and you have to get it. If you want a
booth space or a VIP space.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
That's really what you're paying for is the space and
having somebody keep bringing you said bottles. When it comes
to the first class thing, one time I did upgrade
and the seat that I had, or the airline that
I was on, it didn't recline all the way back.
For some it didn't turn into a bed. Does that
mean it was like comforable but it didn't turn And

(13:42):
I'm like, well, gosh, you know, maybe if this is
a turn into a bed, I would do this again.
But to me, it's not worth the thousands of extra
dollars to be if it's first class.

Speaker 2 (13:52):
You're right, first class highly overrated.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
And you're not going to like this some of you.
But I don't think some designer brands are worth the price.
I'm a dupe girl through and through period.

Speaker 2 (14:03):
Well, I have some dupes, but I will say that
there are some there are some design of things they
do hold up.

Speaker 3 (14:10):
I'm a very fickle person. I just like to change
things up. I don't need it to hold up well.

Speaker 2 (14:14):
I will say Chile that sometimes those brand name things,
when they become vintage, that's because they hold up really
really well stand the test of time. Luxury letdowns, they're
a thing and coming up here at ninety seven point
one wash FM.

Speaker 3 (14:29):
You know, if you're maybe heading into work right now
and you work with folks that are younger, apparently there's
some common office jargon that younger workers just don't understand.
So we're about to have a lesson together.

Speaker 2 (14:42):
There's a fascinating new survey out of the UK this morning.
We got to tell you about. It's ninety seven point
one wash FM, Toby and Chilly in the morning. When
it comes to gen Z, they just don't understand some
of the stuff people say at the office.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
Well, this is common lingo and you may have used
it for years, but the new generation kind of get stumped.
They're not understanding it, Like what does in the pipeline mean?
Only twenty eight percent of gen Z workers. No, it means, well,
something is being worked on or something is being planned.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
This kind of surprises me, touching base.

Speaker 3 (15:13):
The younger generation also doesn't know put it on the
back burner. More than half. Yes, they do know it
means to postpone something and focus on something more urgent
right now, hit the ground running. Sixty four percent understood
the phrase it means to start a new job or
a project confidently, you know, I mean, yes.

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Let's take this offline, let's put a pen in it.
Why don't we workshop this? Those are some of the
ones that you know. I mean, I hear them used
and I'm like, really, But.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
I don't think we need to necessarily all understand the
jargon unless you're working in mixed company. So if you're
working amongst people that are within your generation, you can
create new office jargon, right if you're part of Gen
X like we are. I think a lot of our
colleagues definitely understand all of this jargon. You only get

(16:05):
into trouble when you are working with multi generations.

Speaker 2 (16:10):
I think that we all need to take some time
to understand what blue sky thinking means. Do you know why?
Because it's a good thing no matter what generation you're in.
And that's a lesson on the office jargon. That's some
of these young'ins, these gen zs and such, they don't
even understand. God help the generation that comes after Gen Z,

Once in a while, Once in a while, sometimes it

for instance, we've got Ethan here this morning from Ashbourne Chilly.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
So you said you've been going through a divorce for
a while, but that you're in a different relationship.

Speaker 4 (22:18):
This process just takes a really long time, and so
you know, I've been with my current partner for you know,
well over a year, and so I don't know if
it's really an ethical choice to announce my engagement like
a week after the divorce, Like, I mean, I'm super
excited to marry this person, and I mean, it's not
really jumping back into it because I've just been going

(22:39):
to the court system for so long.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
Well, congratulations on the new engagements, And.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
Why are you doubting making the announcement when you did.

Speaker 4 (22:46):
My family is kind of like looking at me weird
about it. And so I just don't know if I'm
like a jerk for doing that.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
I don't think you're a jerk at all for doing it.
It's your life, you know, live it because you only
get one of them.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
I don't think you're a jerk for moving on with
somebody else else and getting engaged, because, like you said,
the divorce process has taken so long. I think maybe
the timing of the announcement maybe a little off, like
literally a week after your divorce became final. Is when
you announce your engagement.

Speaker 2 (23:13):
I assume some people could say you may not have
been reading the room very well.

Speaker 4 (23:18):
Exactly all right.

Speaker 2 (23:19):
Well, Ethan, we can put this question to the class,
see what they think. They might have some stuff to
offer opinions eight sixty six nine two seven forty three

old woman under a bathroom stall at a hotel in Manassas.
Investigators say that he was spotted near the same restroom
in Tempo by Hilton just two weeks earlier. Has Matt
Cruiser cleaning up a diesel spill in an Alexandria Creek
near Holland Lane and Jamison Avenue. Investigators are tracking down

(25:39):
the source after witnesses reported smelling petroleum in the area.
Monumental Sports unveiled new renderings for Capitol Wan Arena's billion
dollar renovation, which includes new bars, social spaces, and a
reimagined exterior. The project is set to finish before the
twenty twenty seven NBA and NHL seasons, and back to

(26:00):
school might signal summer's end, but a new survey finds
it sixty one percent of people still have not taken
a vacation this season. Nearly a quarter of people say
they really don't feel like they made the most out
of summer. Tight budgets and busy to do lists are
the top reasons why. Forecast for today partly cloudy skies.

(26:22):
We do have a chance of a storm this afternoon.
Hides around eighty six right now, seventy four in Alexandria.

Speaker 2 (26:29):
Top Stories at the top of the hour. That's the news.
You're up to date. Stay with Toby and Chilly in
the Morning because we're getting back to our chat with
Ethan and Ashburn, who's hanging on to hear what you
have to say about him announcing his new engagements literally
right after his divorce with his ex was finalized. Is
the timing suspect? Is he a jerk for dropping that

(26:52):
bomb on everybody? Thoughts eight six six nine two seven
forty three sixty one Jump into the conversation to continue,
Let's get back at it. We're talking to Ethan. He
is from Ashbourn this morning and he called us because
he wants to know if he's a jerk And you've
got thoughts eight sixty six nine two seven forty three
sixty one to tap to talk back microphone if you

(27:13):
signed in listening to Toby and Chilly in the Morning
on ninety seven point one watch FM through your iHeart app.

Speaker 3 (27:18):
So Ethan went through a long divorce process and as
he was getting a divorce, he met somebody else and
they got engaged. Well, Ethan announced that engagement just a
week after his divorce became final.

Speaker 2 (27:34):
Interesting timing to say the least. But you know what,
is he a jerk? No? Yes, what say you, Blair?
Good morning? Thank you for listening to us in Fairfax Thoughts.

Speaker 5 (27:45):
No, definitely not a jerk move, especially if you've been
separated for a long time. That stuff is held up
by the courts for so long. Been there, been through that,
so whatever, you got to move on and it's in
the past.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
So you're cool with it.

Speaker 3 (27:58):
Not a jerk move, He's fine. Chilly thoughts when you
think about it, the people that are close to you
in your life already knew you were in a new relationship,
and announcing it to them I think is fine. I
think maybe going on social media and announcing it could
come off inappropriate.

Speaker 2 (28:15):
Blair.

Speaker 5 (28:16):
When you're done without relationship, you are gone.

Speaker 2 (28:18):
You have moved on.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
So he moved on long ago.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
It's fine, Tally one for the not a jerk. It's
fine for Ethan. Thank you Blair so much. Thanks for
having me anytime now. Cassie and Boyd's jerk. What do
you think about Ethan's situation?

Speaker 3 (28:34):
That's a tricky one, but personally I do think he
is jerk. Wow, okay, And why is that there needs
to be a morning period after a divorce is finalized.
So the fact that he just went ahead and announced
it kind of showed that he doesn't have any sympathy
for his ex wife.

Speaker 2 (28:49):
So you're seeing Ethan pulled a jerk move.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Oh yeah, absolutely, one hundred percent.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
That's an insensitive move.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
Points taking Cassie, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (28:57):
All right, Ethan, you've heard from two people now, one
who thinks you're totally fine and in the clear, and
the other one who thinks you're a jerk. What are
your thoughts?

Speaker 4 (29:06):
Yeah, you know, I'm excited to move on, Like I mean,
I've been moved on emotionally, but I'm excited to like
actually move on with this next chapter of my life.

Speaker 2 (29:14):
Well you do you, sir, And well you already did,
so here's to you and your new fiance. May you
find the wedded bliss you did not find before.

Speaker 4 (29:23):
Thank you, I appreciate it.
