progress and moving forward. And I think that is a

(03:27):
a ten percent jump from the year before, and nearly

find out what life has to say to you through
somebody you might know or you might have heard of.

Speaker 4 (04:01):

It's ninety seven point one wash FM, Toby and Chilly

today on this Thursday, the twelfth of August, and it
is time now for us to focus on you.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Actually, it's the thirteenth of August.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Wait a minute, is it? Why do I have it
as the twelfth?

Speaker 3 (04:22):
Oh? Today's okay, it's still Thursday. You got that.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
No, And I haven't had a sip of this coffee yet.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
This is where we pause and share a quote to
get you into a good morning mindset.

Speaker 2 (04:33):
At least it's not going to be a Friday the thirteenth.
Then that's a good thing, So Tina Fey says, and
keep this in mind today because it's important and it's inspiring.
Do your thing and don't care if they like it.
Do your thing and don't care if they like it. Now,
that might seem a little bit belligerent, and you're probably

(04:54):
going on, it's just Toby, me and Toby again saying,
you know, raise up, Come on now, we're gonna rise up.

Speaker 4 (05:01):
No, it's not that.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
This is what I think matters most about, Tina Fey
telling us to do your thing and to not care
if they like it. Not everything that you do in
life needs unanimous approval.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
That's not authentic.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
Sometimes authenticity, at least I think, means being okay even
when you're not everybody's cup of coffee or tea.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
You know, so do your thing, don't care if they
like it.

Speaker 6 (05:29):
Be you.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
There's a reason you are where you are right now.
Tina Fey dropping a truth palm this morning, and that
is your morning mindset. Need it, you can find it
Toby and Chilipage WASHFM dot com get a hold of us,
will send it to your go look for it in
our instance stories and the like. All right, awesome, stay
with Toby and Chili in the morning. Now that you're

(05:51):
mentally recharged and thinking about Tina Fay and those words today,
stay here because coming up in a few.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
We're gonna talk about how many people do or don't
actually read the instruction manual when they buy something new.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
So are you one of these people that reads the
instruction manuals for something? When you get it, you take
it home. Toby and Chilly in the morning. It's ninety
seven point one wash FM could be really anything, you know,
anything that you get tends to have directions an instruction manual,
and then there's the more involved stuff like you know,
say you buy furniture at ikea right that takes a

(06:25):
minute to build and you need to kind of follow
those instructions, or else you have Janki furniture that falls down.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
Yeah, well, only fourteen percent of people, according to the
survey by you gov, read the entire instruction manual. Forty
three percent, which is majority in this particular survey, reads
some of the instruction manual for new appliances or devices
just generally speaking, Yeah, are you the type of person
that reads it cover to cover? Do you not look

(06:52):
at I mean, like, what is your way of approaching it.

Speaker 4 (06:55):
Case by case basis?

Speaker 2 (06:57):
Okay, if it's something that obviously makes you turn it
on and it does what it's supposed to do and
you turn it off after you've plugged it into power, okay.

Speaker 3 (07:06):
Well, if it's all a required is plugging it in,
I see why you may not.

Speaker 2 (07:09):
Yeah, No, I don't need to go looking at the
instruction manual. But there are things like tech when I'll
glance at certain things. If it's stuff that I'm just
not good at, you know, which can be the ikea
furniture analogy. I just used that I have to read
the instruction manual for then I have to go back
over it. Then I need it with me because I'll
screw it up. What about you?

Speaker 3 (07:29):
This may surprise you, but I will try to wing
it first, and then if I feel a little stumped,
only then will I look at an instruction manual. It's
this weirdest thing. I'm like, oh, you know, how hard
can it be? I feel like it should be intuitive.
Whenever I purchase something like this, goes here that goes there. Yeah,
it's always not the case.

Speaker 2 (07:50):
But yeah, have you ever read the instruction manual for
your car?

Speaker 3 (07:54):
I actually do, because I want to know what all
those buttons are for when I'm buying a car.

Speaker 2 (07:58):
Exactly, that's exactly. That is the last manual I think
I read cover to cover.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
Oh, I wouldn't say cover to cover, but sure, oh
I read a.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
Cover to cover.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
I had to know, and then I had to know
if there was something I was missing. But you know,
things like that teach you things. I guess that's why
they call them instruction manuals. Maybe you read the instruction manual,
maybe you don't. Where do you stand? Tap that talk
bag microphone and feel free to tell us your thoughts.
We're always listening. It's ninety seven point one WASHFM with

cutting back on to make ends meet.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
I don't know if your kid has met their teachers
yet or not, but there's got to be a teacher
in your life or your kid's life. They could use
five thousand dollars for the classroom.

at the end of the month. You got the latest
on that story and others on the way with Toby
and Chilly in the Morning on ninety seven point one
wash Up.

Speaker 5 (09:29):
Top Stories, Top of the Hour.

Speaker 3 (09:31):
White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt, who's the youngest person
ever to hold that position, is going to be stepping
down at the end of August, the President says. The
twenty eight year old's going to be staying on as
one of its top outside advisors as she now focuses
on her two young children. A man who's pardoned for
January sixth has been found guilty of touching women's hair

(09:53):
on the metro while filming himself doing it. And then
posting it online. A judge called the videos a creepy
thing to do, and Brian the Tanker is going to
be sentenced later today. Fairfax County's Virginia Task Force one
has been deployed. A ten person team has gone to
Columbia after Monday's earthquake. There a specialists for helping assess

(10:15):
structural damage and also coordinate the response in the hardest
hit areas near Bogata. A stretch of Wisconsin Avenue in
Tenleytown yesterday was shut down for two hours during the
morning rush hour after a suspicious item was found near
a firehouse there. While it turned out to be an

(10:35):
adult toy in a trash can. Arlington County is adding
more speed cameras in school zones after issuing more than
fifty six thousand warnings and tickets there last year. Remember
when those school zone lights are flashing. The limit for
the speed drops to twenty miles an hour. And with
prices squeezing budgets, more Americans are cutting their recurring costs,

(10:59):
starting with subscriptions. New research shows at more than half
of consumers have canceled at least one subscription in the
past six months, with fitness memberships, streaming and premium credit cards,
topping the list. Forecast for today partly Sunny Skies hides
around ninety right now seventy four in Manessas.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
And that is the news top stories at the top
of the hour at ninety seven point one wash CHEFM
or Toby and Chilly in the Morning.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
Have you ever received a.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Sign from beyond someone that you used to love. They
may no longer be with us on this earthly plane,
but nonetheless they've spoken to you.

Speaker 4 (11:39):
Has this happened? Happened to somebody on the show?

Speaker 2 (11:43):
Find out more in just off you Did you ever
get a sign from someone who's gone on to the
other side? Hi, ninety seven point one wash CHEFM. We're
Toby and Chilly in the morning. Seriously, though, did you
get a sign from someone that was in your life
that is no longer.

Speaker 4 (11:59):
With us, it's passed away. Has this happened to you?
It's happened to so many people.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
And Chili you say you had this almost supernatural experience.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
Well, it's just odd because I don't really feel my
mom's presence like some people say, Oh I feel my
mom or my dad or whomever has passed away. My
mother died back in two thousand and nine. I occasionally
will have a dream about her. Of course I think
about her. But the other day, when I was driving,
I noticed a dragonfly. And I don't see dragonflies, Okay,

(12:30):
I personally don't see dragonflies very often. I think it's
been years since I've seen one. And it was fluttering
around as I was going, I mean over thirty miles
an hour, so it wasn't leaving the car. It kept
bouncing off the windshield outside the car, and I thought,
what is this dragonfly doing? Then I would say about
fifteen minutes later, miles later, I parked my car to

(12:54):
jump in and get something from Walgreens and lo and behold.
I don't know if it was the same on, which
would be crazy if it was, But yet another dragonfly
came and like right to my car after I parked
it and was just hanging out, and.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
I thought, what is going on?

Speaker 3 (13:12):
And when I looked it up on my phone, there's
a spiritual I mean symbolism that it's a loved one
who's past, who's kind of visiting and saying.

Speaker 4 (13:22):
That they're with you, Yeah, I'm still with you.

Speaker 2 (13:23):
That's one of the common ones, and then also that
there's some healing and renewal going on. Plus there's clarity,
and it's also a sign that Dragonfly, the change is coming.
Interesting stuff. I've often said that I believe in the
sanctity of dreams, to paraphrase the band Live from the nineties,
and it's true. Like literally, just last night, I had
a dream about my grandmother and I was making something

(13:45):
in the kitchen and I got in trouble for making it.
Not really in trouble, but I got that Grandma in trouble,
you know what I.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
Mean for for signs that are around when I'm actually awake,
because I find that to be more comforting, and I
find that to be comforting. I was like, oh, you
know what, maybe this is mom kind of just hanging
out or saying hey, I'm with you. But I know
that you and I are not the only ones who've
gotten signs from someone who's passed on.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Call us, tell us about your experiences at eighty six, six,
nine two, seven, forty three sixty one right now, did
you get a sign that's someone from your life that
has gone on to the next plane of this life,
who's passed away was still with you eight six six,
ninet two seven forty three sixty one is the number.
Jump into the conversation with Toby and Chilly in the

(14:35):
Morning in ninety seven point one Wash FM. Just to
recap a few minutes ago.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
I said, I saw a dragonfly that literally followed my
car for over ten miles, and I believe that it
was my mom telling me that she's with me. She
passed away back in two thousand and nine. And who
doesn't love a sign from a loved one?

Speaker 4 (14:53):
That's right.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
And I think that they come at the time when
you least expect them, you know, in a way that
you're not always looking for.

Speaker 4 (15:00):
That's why they're so powerful.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
And you say you would agree, Carlos, you had a
sign from beyond what happened?

Speaker 7 (15:06):
I swear I smelled my friend's favorite cologne just out
of nowhere, even though no one else noticed it.

Speaker 4 (15:12):
Oooh, what did you do?

Speaker 7 (15:13):
It completely stopped me in my tracks, and for whatever reason,
it just made me think about them for the rest
of the day.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Thanks for the colin Rockville. There, Carlos, have had that
happen here at the office. I've just vaguely smelled someone
who's no longer with us, and then I would just
think about the guy for a minute, and it just
it just happens at the most random times.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
But fail you. Amber Stafford, good morning, your sign? What
happened after.

Speaker 6 (15:38):
My grandmother passed?

Speaker 8 (15:39):
I was having a really rough day and I asked
her out loud for a sign?

Speaker 4 (15:44):
Okay, and did she give you one? What night?

Speaker 8 (15:47):
Her favorite song just randomly came on the radio. I
know it could have been a coincidence.

Speaker 3 (15:53):
After visiting my mom at the cemetery, as soon as
I got in the car, her favorite song came on
the radio. So I feel like the same thing happened
with me too, Amber.

Speaker 4 (16:02):
Are you sure you were just listening to Delilah?

Speaker 8 (16:04):
I would like to think of it as her saying
I'm still here and.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
She is, because, as has been said, no one's ever
really gone as long as we remember them. It is
ninety seven point one wash FM on the way top
stories at the top of the hour, Chili, what can
we expect?

Speaker 3 (16:21):
A new survey highlights just how far some parents will
go to pay for their kids' school supplies. I've got
all the details in just a few.

Cabbage? Cabbage?

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Did you used to hate that as a kid, absolutely,
and my mother relentlessly would try to sneak it on
my slate for me to eat, camouflaging it out potatoes
something like that.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
You didn't like the corn, beef and cabbage?

Speaker 2 (20:48):
No, never, Yeah, come to think of it, I wasn't
a big fan of cabbage either.

Speaker 3 (20:52):
Even as an adult. I hate making cabbage because that
smell is very distinct, if you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 4 (20:58):
That is why I did not like the cabin.

Speaker 3 (21:02):
That's a great, great guest there, and it is also
the correct answer. Lourie, congrats, Oh my gosh, thank you

Speaker 3 (22:07):
How some Harry Potter fans in the UK changed a
multimillion dollar project just to save.

Speaker 4 (22:14):
Dobby's grave, go mess with some Dobby? Was it worth it?

Speaker 2 (22:18):
Was it worth visiting that famous filming location that you
went to that one time?

Speaker 4 (22:23):
Gotta know that story.

Speaker 2 (22:25):
Eight sixty six nine two seven forty three sixty one
is the number, Toby and Chilly in the morning ninety
seven point one WASHFM bringing this up because apparently people
went nuts Harry Potter fans to protect something.

Speaker 3 (22:36):
Well, this happened in the UK and Ireland. A power
cable got rerouted after Harry Potter fans found out that
it was going to be running through Dobby the house
ELFs memorial on a Welsh beach.

Speaker 8 (22:48):
M h.

Speaker 3 (22:49):
Now here's what's funny. Planners ended up changing course, fans
got their way, Toby, that's how important that site was
for these hardcore Harry Potter fans.

Speaker 4 (22:59):
You will not with Dobby's grave.

Speaker 3 (23:02):
No Dobby who was a fictional character.

Speaker 5 (23:06):
Okay, I mean that's taking it.

Speaker 3 (23:09):
To a whole new level of taking something very serious.

Speaker 2 (23:12):
People love the Dobby. Leave that man's grave alone. Let
him rest in peace. Ain't no need for no power
lines here.

Speaker 3 (23:18):
Have you visited famous filming locations and what was it
worth it for you?

Speaker 4 (23:22):
Locally?

Speaker 3 (23:23):
I think so many people in the DMV have at
least gone to the Exorcist Steps in George Townshire, and
I will say it's still cool in person. Yeah, and
you definitely want to run all the way up and
run all the way down just to see if you
can do it.

Speaker 4 (23:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (23:36):
Remember that spy movie about Robert Hansen came out in
two thousand and seven, it was called Breach. Well, they
filmed the very pivotal scene at fed Triangle's metro station
and I had to go see it because I was
a fan of the movie and I was just getting
into my time here in d C. So it was
kind of a cool thing for me to see. But
what was it like for you? Have you visited a

partner before getting married. I don't think you're going to
be that shocked by the results of the survey.

you do enter it at two hundred two hundred for
that trip to Vegas plus one thousand dollars in spending money.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
Ninety seven point one WASHFM Washington, an iHeartRadio station, coming

to ever hold the role, but she's going to be
stepping down from that job at the end of this month,
the President says. The twenty eight year old's going to
be staying on as one of his top outside advisors
as she now focuses on her two young children.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
Two US soldiers.

Speaker 3 (25:36):

It was believed to be on a training flight. A
man pardon for January sixth has been found guilty of
touching women's hair on the metro while filming himself doing it.
A judge called the videos just a creepy thing to do,
and Brian Buttenker is scheduled to be sentenced later today.

(26:00):
Prince George's County business owners are suing over a five
thousand dollars fee on liquor, tobacco storage, and gun retailers,
arguing that it really is a tax that needed state approval.
The money was meant to fund a county childcare initiative.
The Arlington County Fair, marking fifty years, kicked off yesterday

(26:21):
at Thomas Jefferson Community Center under this year's theme Stars
Stripes and Summer Nights. Organizers expect more than one hundred

new research finds that seventy seven percent of Americans in
their late thirties and early forties have lived with an

Speaker 4 (27:11):
Was it worth it? Is it worth it?

Speaker 2 (27:14):
Maybe you should, Chiley and I consider going to check
this out. Tell us all about a movie location you
went to visit and we'll talk in just a bit.
Maybe you hopped in the car with the family, your
significant other, you took a quick road trip and you
went and visited a famous filming location.

Speaker 4 (27:32):
If you did, how was it? What'd you go see?
What'd you check out? Was it worth it?

Speaker 2 (27:37):
We're talking about it this morning at eight sixty six
ninety two, seven forty three sixty one with Toby and
Chilly in the morning ninety seven point one wash FM.

Speaker 3 (27:44):
We're asking this because people take those filming locations very seriously.
There was a story in the news where Harry Potter
fans out in I think it was Ireland. They put
a stop to a power cable being routed through Dobby
the house Else's memorial on a Welsh beach.

Speaker 2 (28:02):
Because you will not stop the Harry Potter fans.

Speaker 4 (28:05):
When they all riled.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
Up, Oh and you know what, the town listened to them.
They changed their course of action. They decided not to
do it there all because little Dobby has a grave.
God right there. You don't mess with that little Dobby's grave.
I'm trying to tell you, I feel you EXPELLIAMU. Did
I say that right? Totally?

Speaker 2 (28:27):
Probably butchered deadline from Harry Potter. Don't hate me, Toby
and Tilly in the morning. It's ninety seven point one WASCHFM.

thank you for calling us from DC this morning. What
film location did you go see? Was it worth it?
Tell us the things?

Speaker 9 (28:43):
I visited the house from home alone in Chicago and
it was honestly so cool seeing it in person.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
Did it live up to your expectations?

Speaker 9 (28:51):
It looked almost exactly how I remembered it from the movie,
which made the whole thing feel nostalgic and was definitely
worth the stop.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
I bet there was something magical about seeing the place
where little Kevin McAllister said.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
Gosh, I mean Johns and watching rab S.

Speaker 5 (29:05):
You gonna come out.

Speaker 4 (29:06):
And stop me.

Speaker 2 (29:07):
Thanks for the story, Andreas and Glover Park have a
great morning talking about a movie set you in to
visit in person?

Speaker 4 (29:14):
Was it worth a good morning? Rebecca in Herndon.

Speaker 6 (29:18):
I went to the Stanley Hotel which inspired the Shining.

Speaker 3 (29:21):
That was a scary movie. Great job by Jack Nicholson.

Speaker 6 (29:24):
I'm not even a huge horror person, but being there
at night was creepy enough that I absolutely understood why
they used it.

Speaker 2 (29:32):
Here's Johnny, It's not gonna take you downtown into DC today.
It's ninety seven point one WASHFM, Toby and Chilly in
the morning.

Speaker 3 (29:41):

Turn up ninety seven point one wash FM and enjoy
moments and memories while you listen to songs like this
and now just to quick program note ten, a reminder,
please stay with ninety seven point one wash FM or
Toby and Chilly in the Morning right around nine ten
this morning.

Speaker 4 (30:24):

You're gonna get a keyword. And when you hear it,
enter it at two hundred two hundred or text it
to two hundred two hundred because it could mean tickets
to the iHeartRadio Music Festival in September plus a thousand
dollars spending money.

Speaker 4 (30:39):
Chud ching.

Speaker 2 (30:40):
And now your morning mindset before we let you go,
remember what Tina Fey had to sing. Do your thing,
Tina Fay says, and don't care if they like it.
Do your thing, and don't care if they like it not.
Everything needs unanimous approval in this life. Sometimes authenticity means
being okay when you're not.

Speaker 4 (31:00):
Everybody's cup of coffee or tea.

Speaker 2 (31:04):
If the case may be have a great day and
we will talk to you to wrap up the week.
