Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's Toby and Chilly's crazy first day in Newmarket.
Speaker 2 (00:04):
Good morning, Jeanie. How are you tell us everything?
Speaker 3 (00:08):
Oh? Okay, I will. So I went on a blind date.
I opened my front door and I was like, Oh,
this guy is great. I was really excited. At the
end of the date, I give him my phone number
and then I told him where I worked. During the date.
He called my workplace and said, hey, you gave me
the wrong number. So I gave him my phone number
(00:29):
again and we made plans to meet up that night.
The next thing I know, he says, hey, you gave
me the wrong number again. Can you give me your
right number? And I was like, he said, is this
a purpose? And I was like, no, no, I'm sorry.
So I gave him the wrong number for a third time,
and then he contacted our friends and she got the
right number. So it was just really funny and I
(00:51):
didn't do it on purpose. But I don't know if
he really believed me or not, but he kept trying.
Speaker 1 (00:55):
So at the time, you're giving him your home number
or cell phone number right now, your work number, because
he clearly could look that up and that's how he
was contacting you.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Yeah, and you know, it was back in the seventies,
so there was no cell phone or pagers, so we
had to like call my house number or my work number. Yep.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
So you're kind of like, you know, stuck, right, So
whatever happened? How did he take it? When you told him, Maye,
there's some misunderstanding.
Speaker 3 (01:20):
Oh, he said, oh, okay. So then he tried again,
and then he said, I don't believe you. It's the
wrong number. I can't And finally, you know, I gave
got the right number. So it was fine.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
So there was a second date. What happened to that guy? Like,
he kept trying and trying, he.
Speaker 3 (01:37):
Kept trying, and there was a second date and he's
my husband now, so wow, well my husband for forty
nine years.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
I guess his persistence paid off and you overga and
you were able to overcome his doubt.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
Yeah, yeah, I think. So.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
We're beyond the days of having to memorize people's phone numbers,
even our own phone numbers, So you're in luck there.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Does he still have your number memorized or no, your
original number that he had to work so hard to get.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
I don't know, I'll have to ask him. I doubt it.
I don't even remember it.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
So it's interesting though, back back then, when after maybe
the second time, he didn't just say, look, here's my number,
call me, because clearly you don't know you're own.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
No, he didn't. He didn't say that or think that,
but I think he probably thought it in the beginning. Yeah,
she's just messing with me.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Well, you might want to call him and tell him
you're not messing with him right now, provided that you
remember his phone number, because.
