Speaker 1 (00:00):
And now move the sticks with Daniel, Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
What's up, everybody? Welcome to move the sticks, DJ, Bucky
and Rhett with you boys.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
What is going on?

Speaker 1 (00:13):
Well, it's getting to be our time of year here, folks.
You know we're getting it. You know, like Bill Belichick
used to say, you know the season starts after Thanksgiving. Well,
in a way that goes for us too, right, because
we're getting close to draft season here. December really starts
to feel like it when we start getting all the
bowl games and all that and start watching.

Speaker 2 (00:33):
I know you're already digging into all that, you know,
you know, you know what tells you it's a good time.
When this showed up in the mail the other day.

Speaker 1 (00:39):
Oh we get the Sharpie's ready, Oh my god.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Oh yeah, that's when it's go time. When you get
the nick pens some Freshmans for the notebook. Yeah, I
do love that you still use a traditional notebook in
this digital age. You know, Bucky's got one. Yeah, I
just I just came min just I just came in

(01:04):
the mail. I just I just put it together. Thanksgiving
is is when we kick it off like it's go time.
Like every year, for me is is Halloween, but realistically
it's more like things to give thanks.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Yeah, start banking up.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
We're going to do some some rookie draft here in
just a second er, so we will also talk about
our Coordinator of the week coming up.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
But I wanted to start first of all with a
little scouty thing here, Buck.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
I was curious, you know, I talked when Jags and
the Chargers played a couple of weeks back, get a
chance to talk with a lot of their guys down
there on the field, and you told me about some
of the stuff they were doing that's kind of wage
cutting edge, a little different. So I I got to
learn a little bit about that, but I'd love to know,
just having been around it more than I have, what
stood out to you the most about a tweak. I

(01:54):
actually just got off the phone with the general manager
in baseball and we were talking about, you know, how
you how you want to navigate this process and how
you can make changes. So we were talking about some
of that stuff. But I'm curious, what have you what
stood out to you about how things are a little different.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
So I would I would say the biggest thing that
is different.

Speaker 4 (02:10):
I would say that they do a really good job
of keeping the conversation flowing and making it organic. So
dj you've been in these meeting rooms right when you
When you're in these meeting rooms, everyone has loud opinions
until you have to sit down, and it really matters
either the general manager, the head.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Coach, the president. They're in the room.

Speaker 4 (02:29):
So now everybody's opinion is not as boisterous or as
I would say, authentic, because people are toning down based
on how it's can be received. So some of the
things that they've done, and this comes from the rams,
it's like they'll have these conversations, but behind the scenes
it's all virtual. But people are recording what's going on
and they remember some of the things that you're saying.

(02:50):
So if you're hot on the guy early and then
the next that we have a meeting, you're.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
Cool on them now. It is like, hey, what's really
going on? Record of this?

Speaker 5 (02:59):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:59):
Right, But it's done in a different way because it's
done with like surveys and behind the scenes stuff where
you can be real and authentic without necessarily your name
attached to the group.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
So you have the confidence to freely.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Talk without it being a dicey situation, So that part
is interesting.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Using emojis instead of these long, verbose reports.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
That's also good because to me, just get right to
the point because a lot of times when we're scouting
and you talk about looking at three hundred or four
hundred dudes, you just want to get to it. What's
the one liner, Give me one hundred and fifty words
on who this player is, and let's move on.

Speaker 3 (03:34):
As opposed to all these things that DJ and I used.

Speaker 4 (03:37):
To have to do, feeling all these boxes, write a
report that would take an hour on a player that
can't really play, let's just get to it so we can,
you know, let's talk about the players who can play,
the players that we like, as opposed to I would
say all these mechanisms that you do just to feel
like you're working well here.

Speaker 1 (03:56):
And I thought that when we were doing that path
of the Draft segment where we're putting stickers on the
touch screen.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
That we were trend setting, but ten setting. But but
I mean for real, like that's that's kind of what
it is. Like.

Speaker 4 (04:08):
Is the emojis is the three fire emojis is, Yeah, superpowers.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Is all of that stuff, And yeah, I mean must
like TV.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
But think about it like we're in an age now
where everyone has a short attention span. You don't want
to have to go through these long things. Let's get
right to it. What's the players super prid?

Speaker 3 (04:26):
What do they do?

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Well, let's get I think they're chopping it up, right,
they're chopping it up a little bit between.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
Here's your background, go get your background.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Then we have our core group of six like guys
who are going to be doing the player evaluation right,
and then we're going to get to the point where
the workouts or whatever you want to do with that.
Coaches can jump in and and and er at that point.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Let me ask you this on that front, I'm all
for efficiency, right, all for efficiency utilizing technology wherever you can.
I know teams are really kind of digging into that,
but it has has AI entered the scouting world at all.

Speaker 5 (04:57):
Oh yeah, chat gpteing.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
Reports here, like taking all of.

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Our information and like, hey, you know, put this into
this format that sort of thing.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
I think what it is you have all the data
that you can dump in there, and then you know
it's quickly being able to give you comparisons with players.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
It's giving you percentiles of hit rates.

Speaker 2 (05:15):
I talked about it with you know, some scouts when
I was doing the training camp tour and they were like, dude,
and this was with the executives, were like, man, my
scouts are all freaked out. We're all going to get
replaced by AI out on the road. I'm sure it's
like that in every profession, but yeah, now it has
its place for sure. Yeah, you guys want to get
an update on the rookies. I don't know how this
is timing.

Speaker 5 (05:35):
I know, I know what I mean. I've been followed.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Last Weekrett knocked out seven more points. Bucky picked up. Yeah,
I picked you up seven points. He's open because he
had he had Loveland one off, so he got points
for all all his guys. So yeah, that's tough man.
One other guy though, was solid for me, got me for.

Speaker 5 (06:01):
He did not get you a single point.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
So, oh my gosh, I'm looking at it now.

Speaker 2 (06:05):
Genty, Oh my gosh, gent week buck he genty.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
I know that's happened a couple of times where the
Raiders just get like pasted, and yet Genty ends up,
you know, winning the winning the day in our rookie drift.

Speaker 2 (06:17):
But I cannot believe. I was watching the Bears game
going like, oh, I'm a young guy. It's having a
solid day. Got in the end zone. You didn't even
get me a point. With Henderson and Gent going off there,
I'm trying to say, how I got my point for McMillan.

Speaker 5 (06:32):
Yeah, McMillan and Warren, Yeah yeah, and then Warren.

Speaker 1 (06:35):
So I got it's not too many weeks that Warren
has been available and not won the week for tight ends.

Speaker 3 (06:40):
Yeah good, that's gracious. All right. Uh so I'm up first.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
I believe today, Yes you are so, uh going a
couple of different directions here.

Speaker 5 (06:53):
Buys this week, we're all available.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Yeah, I'm going to play the hot hand. I'm gonna
go with three von Henderson, Bucky Year up next, Well,
Travian Henderson right out the gate.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Huh yeah. Interesting. Uh well, I.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Guess I'm gonna take the tight end Tyl Tyler, Warren
him right off the gate.

Speaker 5 (07:15):
So I go back to back here.

Speaker 1 (07:19):
You know, this is an interesting one because like the
the Raiders with Gent, it's just like they they're just
not good. I don't know what this is going to
look like now without Chip Kelly. You know that Chip's
gone and we're gonna get into that a little bit
as well. So Chip last eleven games and he's out,
and now you know, how are they how are they

(07:40):
gonna utilize Genty? It's mostly been in the past game guys.
It's like been with like those little short receptions that
he's been kind of racking up the fantasy points, Trev.
I mean Quinchin Judkins ended up with two scores last week,
and I feel like, yeah, I kind of feel like
that's that's where I want to go now.

Speaker 5 (07:58):
That shador Is is starting, so oh gosh, I think
I'm gonna do it.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
And I'm gonna go with Quinchwn Judkins, uh, and then
I'm gonna go with I'm gonna go with Colston Lovelin
and just pick off the the second tight end there
who's been uh, who's been tight in number one?

Speaker 5 (08:19):
So Judkins and Loveland for me.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
All right, well man, it goes back to me.

Speaker 4 (08:24):
We're read thank you because I was I was sitting
there waiting if you didn't take Judkins, I was gonna
take him. But that you left me Genty. I'm gonna
take genty because here's what we do know. Typically when
someone gets fired. The new guy that comes into play call,
he's gonna make sure that he acquiesces to the head
coaches demands, and that means that eston Gentsy may touch
it fifty times in this game.

Speaker 5 (08:43):
So I'm gonna go Chargers defense pretty good though I
don't know.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
Yeah, that's why he touches.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
Yeah, all right, I'm gonna go with Ted Roald McMillan
as like my throat, and then I'm gonna come back
and I'm gonna go with the Charger of Rendez guest
second here.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
Okay, so you've got you've You've filled out your roster,
which means, Bucky, you got to get a receiver here, buddy.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
Yeah, well I got to get a receiver. And I'm
worried because my guy is getting to m RI, but
I don't think it changes. Let's go in to maka Abuka.
Let's just see if you can still still can get
it done without Baker.

Speaker 5 (09:18):
Okay, m interesting.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Wide out, you could go.

Speaker 5 (09:27):
No, Higgins won the week last week, So.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
With maybe Sauce Gardner playing a little bit more attention
to Nico Collins and we'll see where they go. But guys,
that feels like it feels like a pretty good one
to just kind of ride the horses here.

Speaker 5 (09:45):
So I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go right back with
Jayden Higgins.

Speaker 2 (09:49):
It just takes one week, Buck, We just need one
good week and we're right back in the.

Speaker 5 (09:54):
Right back in it speak for yourself. Bucks down fourteen, so.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
You have clear week.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
If he has a clean sweep, he gets away. Yeah, Buck,
Buck's under the assumption that's all resets once we get
playoff seeding. This is just from the wlayoff seeding, wait
for the playoffs. We just got to get it gets all.
He gets all all right, all right, let's uh, let's
take quick break. We get back, we get our coordinator
the week and they we'll touch on some of the
coaching changes around the league just a minute right after this.

(10:26):
All right, guys, if you want to watch some football
like we do, we would encourage you to sign up
for NFL Plus Premium. Check out NFL Pro, where you
can access over ninety five unique player and team performance
stats and the All twenty two film available on desktop
and the mobile web. So we're looking at our Coordinator
of the week, and look, we talked so much about
shud Or Sanders. The job he did, how did a
nice job, played well, pushed the ball down the field.

(10:49):
So we're going to give his offensive coordinator, Tommy Reese
uh the Coordinator of the Week award. So Shuder was
eleven of twenty. Not flashy there, but two hundred nine
yards touchdown and a pick. First Browns quarterback to win
in his first career start since Eric Zeier in nineteen
ninety five. So that's been a minute.

Speaker 5 (11:07):
Is his name on the jersey because that was before
they left.

Speaker 2 (11:10):
That's before Yeah, I don't think he gets to be
on the jersey there. A good basketball player though, when
I worked for the Ravens and he had played for
the Ravens, they said he was an excellent basketball player
side know nice. So Tommy Rees has been the OC
there and pass game specialist and tight ends coach going
to his time there with the Cleveland Browns over the
last couple of years. Before that, he was at Alabama

(11:30):
in twenty three as a coordinator and quarterback coach. I
remember he played at Notre Dame, was offensive coordinator there
during his time was there not Dame from twenty seventeen
to twenty twenty two.

Speaker 3 (11:40):
So he's he's been around.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
I remember him playing and his dad, Bill Reese was,
you know, a longtime personnel man in the NFL. We
crossed paths there for a minute in Cleveland. So anyways,
good to see him have some success there and get
Shooter Sanders up and running.

Speaker 5 (11:57):
Buck.

Speaker 2 (11:58):
I know there's been talk about, you know, what would happen,
you know, coaching changes in the offseason. I know the
record is not where the Browns would like it. They've
got to get the quarterback thing figured out here. But
I think they'd be nuts to move on from this staff.
They've got a good head coach, a good defensive coordinator,
and I think Tommy Reese is going to grow into
being a good offensive coordinator as well.

Speaker 3 (12:17):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:17):
Look, man, they got a lot of things, and I
think the one thing that bows well for the Cleveland
Browns is the young players are playing really, really well.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
You think about their Ricky class and the contributions that
they're getting.

Speaker 4 (12:25):
Yeah, we can talk about the guys picking the players,
but the coaches have to develop him and put him
on the field.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Then.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
Defensively, Miles Garrett is on pace to have twenty seven
plus sacks this season on a team that is always behind, Like,
it's ridiculous that he's been able to be that productive.
That speaks to Jim's horz creativity and some of the
other things. And I'll just say this defensively, man, they're
as good as anybody when they can get done. If
they just had a competent offense that could just not

(12:52):
turn it over keeping them in play, man, they would
be so good.

Speaker 3 (12:55):
Yeah. I mean, look, I'm with you. I don't think
they need to move on from this staff.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
They got to figure out a quarterback thing and then
they just got to continue to let it grow and bubble.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
And at the time when no one has patience, we
ask him for patients for the Browns.

Speaker 2 (13:06):
If Sudor plays really well, Rett, if he, like say,
he just gets better and better and he gives them
the hope he can be their guy, that changes their
entire offseason.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Man, Well, no question, I think we're we're ways away
from that at this point.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
But but there's enough, there's enough runway, there's enough runway
where he could get that plane up in the air.

Speaker 5 (13:24):
Oh, no doubt, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
I mean we got we had six weeks left here,
and so I think that definitely gives you a pretty
decent sample size to to do that. Now, I go
back to what Tommy Rees said. I mean, like he
understood what he was getting into here right with Shador,
and he was like, my job before the game happen.
He's like, my job is to make Shad Door Sanders
as comfortable as possible.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
Right.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
So they you know, you had to obviously ramp up
all the reps compared to what he had been getting.
They talked about how he got you know, Ian mentioned
that some of the young guys get some of those
reps you know, each each practice, you know, after the
initial practice goes on and then it you know, felt
like that was probably pretty useful for him. But like
going back to running wildcat with Judkins down down in
the ends, like having having a package down in the

(14:09):
low red like that that takes some of that stuff
off Shoudur's plate, you know, I thought, making him comfortable
getting Dylan Samson going in the past game and then
you know, Shaudor for his part, put the ball where
it needed to be for his playmakers to go out
there and and run with it. I mean, like the
Browns led the league in yak per reception in this

(14:30):
in you know, in this week of football all thirty
two teams, Brown's had the highest YAK per reception. Now
the Dylan Sans part of the part of that, but
like mal Kai Corley averaged twelve yards of pop after
the catch, you know, and that's what we had talked
about with him coming into the draft. Kind of same
thing for for Judy and Tillman. So like, I think
he did his part. But then those two working together

(14:52):
figured out, all right, what are the best ways for
us to execute to attack this defense and to put
Shador in positions to be successful. And as simple as
that sounds, I do feel like sometimes it doesn't always
go that way. So I give I give Tommy and
Kevin Sefanski and that offensive staff a lot of credit
for making Shador comfortable. And yeah, boy, it would solve

(15:13):
a lot of their problems if he is able to
emerge as the guy here. And like think about all
the different things that they've already dealt with, Like they
thought for a moment that Kenny Pickett was going to
be the starting quarterback in fall camp, and then you know,
and then then Flacco comes out and is the guy,
and then they got to get to Gabriel. I mean,
like the amount of change that they have had to
overcome and then to find some stability within the landscape

(15:36):
of a game with a rookie quarterback like that, I
think is pretty impressive.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
So an initiing thing.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
I don't know if you saw this report America Cabot
talked about Deshaun Watson being on their roster next year
and potentially being in their bridge quarterback and doing all
this other stuff. I think the Browns, after they do
their due diligence on the twenty twenty sixth class, I
think the first thing they got to do is they
got to make a decision is anybody in that class
worthy of using the capital that they've stockpiled up at

(16:00):
quarterback for a quarterback? Because if not, if they just
pour those assets into other parts of the team and
do what we've talked about doing, wait the twenty twenty
seven and drop the quarterback in when you have a
better overall team, that to me would be the more
sensible plan, regardless of whether it's Shad Door or Dylan
Gabriel or whoever is the quarterback. But do they have
enough patience to take that approach, because that approach could

(16:24):
pay off will, particularly with twenty twenty seven looking like
it's going to have more options at quarterback than what
we have in twenty twenty six.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
Be careful saying that out loud. Buck.

Speaker 2 (16:32):
There's some folks in Cleveland that they get all feisty
and upset when you say that they should build up
the rest of their roster. Speaking experience, they want to
take quarterback every year every I.

Speaker 5 (16:44):
Think you should take one.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
I just want you want to get them off your
back chieve Christmas, guys, they get fired up. Now it's
not like a just a disagreement, it's like they lose
their minds.

Speaker 5 (16:56):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (16:56):
And the guy that they wanted, the guy they were
freaking out that when I suggest I said that maybe
they not take him, they ended up getting in the
fifth round.

Speaker 3 (17:03):
So I didn't. I checked my inbox. I didn't see
an apology in there, but it.

Speaker 2 (17:09):
But Yeah, nonetheless, they have some they have a good
coaching staff that got some good pieces in place. If
for somehow he plays really really well and their draft
capital can be used to support him instead of to
replace him, They're in a whole different situation here. So
and look, hope he does. Hope sure plays well for
the Browns in there and their fan base and they
can get rolling here. All right, let's change gears a

(17:31):
little bit here. Time for Hot or Not. It's brought
to you by with Sabi Hot Cloud Storage. This is
definitely in the not portion of that. And that is
some of the firings that took place. Chip Kelly he
is out as offensive coordinator of the Raiders three years
eighteen million bucks lasted eleven games, and then as Shane
Bowen out as defensive coordinator for the New York Giants.
So let's start on the Chip Kelly thing. Buck, He's

(17:53):
been a friend of the show. He's been good to
us over the years. I really like Chip a lot
as a person. With the results there and whether or
not it was lack of talent or what.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
The issue was. But that was pretty gross. Yeah, it's
pretty gross.

Speaker 4 (18:06):
But man, I don't know, man, he's in his first season,
it's the first year of a rebuild. I just think
our expectations are so high for what the turnaround needs
to look like right away. And I know Ben Johnson
and some guys have been able to jump in and
do it, but I think Ben Johnson stepped into a
better situation with better talent, I.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Don't know how talented.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
Well, I would say this, I don't think the Raiders
are that talented on offense when you look at their
personnel on the perimeter. No number one receiver, you have
Brock Buyers, you have Askton genty, but you don't have
much beyond that man. At the end of the day,
this is a league about players, and you have to
have good players to move the ball effectively, especially against
good teams, and they just don't have it. I think

(18:49):
Chips offense has worked at times in the leagues, and
people can talk about the inconsistencies and the results and
all that, but I know this, I know he's a
really good offensive coordinator. For whatever reason, didn't work in Vegas.
I just think pulling the plug after eleven games is
just really, really quick.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
I agree with you guys on Chip. I think he's
a sharp dude who understands, you know, offensive football really well.
I mean, like you look at what he did with
the Ohio State offense last year, and I mean that
was again, that was that was fantastic. But again you
look at the talent level, and probably the best talent
in you know, in the country, and he found ways
to utilize it for sure, different situation in Vegas.

Speaker 5 (19:28):
I do wonder.

Speaker 1 (19:29):
If there was at all some sort of philosophy clash,
you know, between the way that Chip wanted to run
things and the idea of, you know, what's important to
Pete Carroll. Like I think, you know, I'm not saying
that there were excuses made, but I would imagine that,
you know, Chip's like, oh, look, we don't necessarily have
the guys. We need to make this work the way

(19:49):
that we want to. And I could see how, you know,
Pete's like, well, you know what, just keep competing, right,
I mean, like I get the sense that maybe he doesn't.
He doesn't want one guy feeding into the circumstances right
as opposed to just figuring out how to find the results.
Not saying that that happened, but I could certainly see
if that's something that you know, that that went.

Speaker 5 (20:09):
The wrong way.

Speaker 1 (20:09):
But I mean it was, Shoot, they're running out of
they'rerunning out of guys to let go over there. I mean,
you know, they already did the special Teams coordinator Offensive coordinator. Now,
I think, you know, I think if we look at again,
we talked about this when when John Spytech got the
job as the GM, Tampa had been really good at

(20:30):
beefing up both sides of the line of scrimmage. They
still have a lot of work to do there, right,
And again it's just one off season. It's been eleven games.
Like I think at this point with the Raiders, man,
the way that they've seen turnover, there's got to be
some patience here at some point.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
So here's my question, and Buck you can answer it
first and Red follow it up. But remember when we
were in high school and used to have the all
league team came out like your first team All League
was kind of a big deal, you know, growing up
when we grew up, and then you had it beyond
that maybe the city or the state or what have you.
But I'm just thinking, if we just looked at the
league as the AFC West, Rock Bowers, and this is

(21:06):
just one glance over the roster, Rock Bowers would be
the only person on the Raiders who would be first
team All a f C West on offense. You're looking
on offense, Yeah, I think that's the only one. Yeah,
whose there's nothing else just because office coordinators one who
got fired. So if I'm looking at it like that's

(21:28):
trying to I mean, like it's been ugly. And that's
the problem. That's the problem is that you could you
could look at it and say it's too early and
pulled up. I mean there's also a threshold of just like, oh,
by this is just this is so bad. And when
you're giving up ten sacks and you can't, you don't
have a chance. But that being said, they've got to
upgrade the talent.

Speaker 1 (21:47):
Man, Well, look at Gino, I mean like Gino is frustrated,
like he's losing his mind after like every other rep,
you know, and I get it.

Speaker 5 (21:56):
It's it's it's a.

Speaker 1 (21:57):
Lot different for him not having DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett
and Jackson Smith and Jigbo out there as it has
been up in Seattle, and the offensive line is a
lot different. And Colton Miller their best, you know, is
a guy who could have been.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
We got Tyler Lockett back in his well, but not
not prime time, not that one.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
Right, that's tough one.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
All right, Well, let's get over to the defensive side
of the ball. What do you think about the Giants
making that move?

Speaker 3 (22:24):
Fucker?

Speaker 2 (22:24):
All right?

Speaker 4 (22:25):
Man, Look, I don't know I understand it, but now
everything is like in the fact, we have an interim coach,
so then you're going to elevate someone on the staff
to be the interim defensive coordinator. You're trying to fix
it with six or seven games left. I think Mike
Kefi has done a really good job of one. The
offense and the team operation looks better when you hear
the information from the players they talk about more meeting time, uh,

(22:48):
more intentional work to get the team better prepared. All
this stuff is positive. I understand why you're frustrated with
the defense because you have lost with four or five
fourth quarter leagues, and to be honest, the defense was
supposed to be the best part of this team going
into the year when you look at the personnel, the
blue chippers that they have on the defensive line and

(23:09):
those things. I understand it. I just don't know if
you can change it with six games left with a
new voice.

Speaker 5 (23:16):
Yeah, I wonder.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
You know if this goes back to a couple of
weeks ago, right, you had Brian Burns talking about, you know,
airing his frustrations walking into the locker room about the
way that they approached certain things late in games. And
you were just talking about the leads that they've given up.
You know, is this a chance for Mike Kafka to say, like, hey,
you know, like I can, I can make the tough
calls like I can, I can be the guy that

(23:39):
figures this thing out for us, And this is the
way that I feel like we have to go in
order to you know, put our best product out on
the field. And if this is an audition for Mike
Kafka to potentially get a look as the full time
head coach or as a head coach somewhere else, you're
gonna do whatever you can to put your team in
the best possible spot into you know, to be able

(23:59):
to you know, kind of make that resume as attractive
as possible and not saying that's why you made the
med the firing.

Speaker 5 (24:05):
But the more you win and the more.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
That you play well with the decisions that you've made,
I think the more you do that. So I think
it's kind of a you know, it's a bold move,
but I think it's one that that clearly, you know,
he hopes changes the direction of where they're going here
these final six games and maybe gives them a chance
to hold on this thing full time.

Speaker 3 (24:26):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
I think there's two types of interim coaches. There's the hey,
just keep the let's just keep the lights on inside
of the building, interim head coach, and then there's the
other guy who wants to buy the house.

Speaker 5 (24:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
And to me, I think and rightfully so, Kafka has
been an attractive candidate for these jobs with his background
and who he's been around, all those things. So he's saying, hey,
I got one shot at this thing, man. Yeah, And
the fact of the matter is we've blown all these
games and I can't afford to do that down the stretch.
I'm going to need to go five and one or
whatever down the stretch and show some serious chops here

(24:56):
as a head coach.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
To get this job. I don't blame him for doing that, No, don't.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
And look, I'll say this because, like the record is
the record, I do believe he's very qualified to get
this job. When you think about what they potentially could
do from a continuity standpoint around the quarterback. If he
gets the job, you're able to kind of continue to
build upon what you started as opposed to overhauling the system.
There's no denying the last two weeks since he's taken over. Offensively,

(25:22):
they have been a smooth or cleaner operation. They're doing
it with Jameis Winston in the game, so only imagine
what they'll be able to do with Jackson Dart and
those things.

Speaker 3 (25:31):
I like what I've heard from the players.

Speaker 4 (25:33):
I talked about the meeting and the professionalism and how
he handled of do a carter coming in late and
doing those things like, I like all of that.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
So if you're going all in, Mike.

Speaker 4 (25:43):
Caffick, get this, I understand saying, hey man, let me
get a new voice. Let's do something different on defense
to see if we can just stop the bleeding because
we're close enough to win games.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
No, I'm with you one hundred percent. And that's uh,
you know, look, that's the way the league goes. You
get to this time of the year. Teams are making
some changes, trying to saw wage whatever they have left
of the season. So best of luck with the coach Bowen,
coach Kelly as they try and figure out what's next
for them. That was this week's Hot or Not segment,

wrap it up, Rrett, are you are you hosting Thanksgiving
and traveling?

Speaker 3 (26:21):
What are you doing?

Speaker 2 (26:22):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (26:22):
Well, it's going to depend depend on whether we get
the uh the the next edition of the family here
this week. That's right, Yeah, so what what?

Speaker 5 (26:32):
How are we?

Speaker 3 (26:33):
We're right on that, We're on.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
We're on what it's happening on baby watch likely happening
this week here, folks.

Speaker 3 (26:39):
Oh whoa yeah? Yeh are you behind on this? Say?

Speaker 4 (26:44):
I completely I completely missed us, Like I'm thinking, I'm
thinking you like, oh, we're about to go get a
puppy or we oh whoa yeah, baby.

Speaker 5 (26:53):
Girl coming probably this week.

Speaker 2 (26:55):
Grant some balance to the force this week, but well
not not fifty to fifty balance, but they're there's smokes, Yeah,
you have a girl edition here trying to figure out
whether we're going to be having Thanksgiving in the at
the hospital or not.

Speaker 3 (27:09):
Buck.

Speaker 2 (27:09):
I I've told him this about boys girls, and you're
somebody who's father both, so I would say, uh, young
girls easy, boys hard, yes, So the rambun once we
get to those teenage years, boys, piece of cake. Girls
you got you got your work cut out for you.

Speaker 4 (27:29):
Uh, it just I'm with you. It just depends on
the foundation. If you do the foundation, the foundation early,
then you can have some of those conversations or whatever
DJ's for other.

Speaker 2 (27:42):
On the line, like, yeah, I'm hoping it's not true
that you can try whatever you want, but you'll be
giving the phone calls.

Speaker 3 (27:51):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (27:51):
The best advice I've got as a as as you're
getting ready to be a girl dad was when you
get to the teenage years. This is from Matt money Smith,
who's three daughters, gave me this great advice. He said,
they're going to get on the roller coaster. You cannot
get on with them, so you got to stay off
the ride as it goes up and down.

Speaker 3 (28:11):
This.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
Yeah, because guess what, they are young, and you know
when you're young you can ride roller coasters and not
get hurt. Adults, you're gonna go out that your back's
gonna hurt. You don't. You can't do that fair enough.
You got to stay right here, nice love ice even.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
Yeah. So there's your there's your update. There.

Speaker 2 (28:27):
By the way, remind everybody you can check out Thursday
the football which is in honor to commemorate the late
John Madden. That's the fourth annual John Madden Thanksgiving Celebration
on Thursday, November twenty seventh.

Speaker 3 (28:39):
This year, the.

Speaker 2 (28:40):
NFL will benefit the newly created John Madden Madden Foundation
by auction off game used items from the three Thanksgiving
Day games via NFL Auction, with proceeds supporting the new foundation.
So enjoy your football and know there's a good cause
associated with.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
It as well. That's going to do it for us. Rett.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
We will not see you again. Happy Thanksgiving buddy. We'll
see you on you next week.

Speaker 5 (29:00):
Appreciate it.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
Thanks for listening. To see you next time. Right here on,
